- 0:49So for today's episode, we're going to be talking about a
- 0:52topic that has become the norm in Nigeria and that is as a
- 0:56result of everybody having Plan B.
- 1:00On how to leave Nigeria, how to relocate abroad, we're talking
- 1:04about the US the UK, Canada, Australia.
- 1:07And in fact, Now everywhere, as long as that person is not just
- 1:14making plans to leave Nigeria basically, so this has affected
- 1:17a whole lot of things, and I think the most discussed part of
- 1:21it is people are now choosing Partners based on their
- 1:25location. Reason why I'm talking about
- 1:27this is because somebody made it.
- 1:29Twitter online about it and it generated a whole lot of
- 1:33conversation. So let me just read that tweet
- 1:36for you. It was a whole bunch of trees,
- 1:38but the one that actually got my interest was jackpot.
- 1:44Capability is like a priority in the dating space today.
- 1:49I brought us become the core of Attraction and plan B for many
- 1:53many are dating for escape survival and breakthrough, but
- 1:58sadly. Love is taking the Falls
- 2:02responsibility. So this was the budget year on
- 2:06Twitter and this generated a whole lot of conversation.
- 2:10You know, how you have a big elephant in the room that people
- 2:13are not willing to talk about but I think this the sweet kind
- 2:18of open the Pandora Boxx and everybody said that sharing
- 2:21their experiences. Some of the guys share that they
- 2:24are dating their girlfriends, you know, maybe after you
- 2:27service they meet they were planning but Cuz, you know, the
- 2:30Nigerian facto everybody's looking for job.
- 2:33Everybody's trying to get themselves together before
- 2:36actually getting into marriages. They said, the next thing they
- 2:39were here is one Bubba from abroad, comes back home and tell
- 2:47these girls they want to marry them.
- 2:49And we didn't have the space of two weeks.
- 2:52They get married to these people and they go back abroad.
- 2:57Some of them, they start making plans to take.
- 3:00This ladies and let me just put it out there.
- 3:02Most times, this main are in their late 50s or mid-50s.
- 3:08They have gotten married. They have children.
- 3:11And maybe one reason, or the other, their marriage didn't
- 3:14work out. So the next thing they do is to
- 3:16come back to Nigeria and Marie fresh blood fresh young, you
- 3:23know, sexy, somebody that I think I don't even know why they
- 3:28do it, but On the conversations online.
- 3:32Some of them said well these people do it because they want
- 3:35to pay their first wife to show them that.
- 3:38Okay. I can marry somebody, you know,
- 3:42half your age. I can get somebody half my age.
- 3:45I still got it. I can get married to whoever I
- 3:49want to get married to regardless.
- 3:51But on the other side of the fence is the ladies who they get
- 3:57married to. These are young girls.
- 3:58These are That are looking for maybe jobs.
- 4:02They're trying to get their foot in.
- 4:04These are just young adults trying to navigate the, the
- 4:09Nigerian system. And this old man, come back,
- 4:13married them, and almost immediately, they file for them
- 4:17to relocate abroad. So this has generated a whole
- 4:21lot of conversation, not just on the female side, but also on the
- 4:25male side, some of the mail are Dating People based on their
- 4:31location. So let's say, man that has the
- 4:34year, you know, you have to have that need to travel.
- 4:38So they need only some of them days.
- 4:41Only people that are in u.s. The UK like Canada or Australia.
- 4:46Those kind of places maybe that they want to travel to.
- 4:50So, they are dating pool. It's not even within the
- 4:53Nigerian Circle, even if they are dating somebody in Nigeria,
- 4:57they don't even Take that person.
- 4:58Seriously, don't get married or they're just like one leg in and
- 5:02one leg out. And as soon as they find
- 5:05somebody that is in abroad, they get serious that person the
- 5:11proposed and they start processing their papers and they
- 5:15join their wives. So it's no longer or I am dating
- 5:20because I met this person. I mean, I have no saying you
- 5:24cannot love somebody from a distance.
- 5:26That's not the point. People fall in love differently,
- 5:30you can meet somebody. You can talk to somebody over
- 5:32the phone. You can fall in love with that
- 5:34voice. You can see a picture and it is
- 5:37love at first sight. I mean, Idris Elba.
- 5:41Oh, oh Denzel Washington. I mean to the old man bore, you
- 5:45know, you get the point so they fall in love based on what they
- 5:51are hearing based on what they are seeing and most times when
- 5:55these people are coming back home.
- 5:58Especially since I live abroad and I have a lot of, I know a
- 6:02lot of people who travel back home and before they travel the
- 6:06take extra shifts, the you know, kind of become full go with your
- 6:11finances. Just to ensure that the save
- 6:14money that they're going to spend in Nigeria, the use credit
- 6:17card to purchase all the whole lot of things so that they look
- 6:20like they have to look the parts because in Nigeria, if you are
- 6:27abroad, Add your automatically, believe that you have money.
- 6:31I mean, you have to have it together, you are in impound,
- 6:34your and in dollars, une Vue rules.
- 6:37So they just feel that, yes, that person have, you know,
- 6:40everything that they need and the people living abroad.
- 6:44On the other hand, if they're traveling back home.
- 6:46They ensure that they lose the past, the embody, all these
- 6:49things that people are expecting to see.
- 6:52So when they get back home, they meet these people that all they
- 6:57want to do. Is to travel.
- 6:59So, it's like a transactional. Something.
- 7:02I am not saying that, is it for everybody, but most times is for
- 7:08somebody that wants to travel approach and they meet somebody
- 7:11who just returned from abroad, regardless of, if that chemists
- 7:16are going to fake it, regardless of whether the chemistry's
- 7:20there, regardless of whether this is their type, or this is
- 7:23somebody that they want to get married to the accept that.
- 7:28That proposal, they get married to them thinking.
- 7:31Okay the package they are looking at is what they are
- 7:34going to be getting when they get relocated abroad, and this
- 7:39is where the issue is. A lot of people who fall into
- 7:44these categories who have relocated abroad, once they get
- 7:48to the others, the nation, whether us UK, they now realize
- 7:53that life is not what he seems. I mean, we talked about
- 7:57knowledge. Actress and kitchy blessing who
- 7:59met somebody in the UK, honorable fallodon, who she
- 8:06thought you know, is a UK. He was claiming to have his
- 8:09honorable. He is in the British army.
- 8:12He just claimed the whole bunch of things and when she was smart
- 8:17enough to have visited him before the marriage or getting
- 8:22serious with him. And when she visited, she
- 8:25realized that all that. Glitters Is Not good.
- 8:29He was not even half of what he was projecting himself to be,
- 8:33and this is the problem. I mean, there's I don't think
- 8:37there's any issue for somebody to go back home and get married.
- 8:41There's no issue in that. But the problem is a whole lot
- 8:45of people. The expectations are not met.
- 8:50Let's say somebody that is going back home.
- 8:52Let's say man, as going back home to marry somebody and bring
- 8:56her in as a wife. There are women abroad, I'm not
- 9:00under so many women abroad, but for the fact that they want that
- 9:05africanness and what is africanness.
- 9:09We're talking about a woman that is going to be submissive a
- 9:12woman that will give you peace regardless of whatever you're
- 9:16doing. Like, I mean our African
- 9:19mothers, they are husband's cheats and regardless of what
- 9:25the man is doing. They're just happy to be there
- 9:27to be the wife. I found home most of our
- 9:29brothers, if they are going back home to get married.
- 9:33This is the, this is what they have in their heads.
- 9:36They want somebody that is like, their mother.
- 9:39That's has endured everything. And also, some of them, they
- 9:44have, especially the ones in their 50s in their late 50s.
- 9:48They've gotten married here, and then I'm thinking, okay.
- 9:51This person is now westernized, this person is not asking me to
- 9:56wash plates this position. Just give me to cook food.
- 9:59So I no longer want on the all those responsibilities.
- 10:03I now want somebody that is going to be submissive.
- 10:07I want somebody that I can control.
- 10:09So some of our brothers that go back home to marry wives.
- 10:15This is what they want. I am not saying all of them,
- 10:18some of them actually fall in love.
- 10:21Some of them go back to marry somebody debated before so this
- 10:26it doesn't encompass. ADI but I think majority of
- 10:30those going back home, especially those in their 50s.
- 10:34This is what they want. And then the women that they are
- 10:37marrying back home. Most of them are married.
- 10:40People have their age and this ladies are young.
- 10:44They are work. They've been watching YouTube
- 10:48videos. They are no longer like their
- 10:50mother. I think there's a cultural shift
- 10:53there. I think this is where the
- 10:55problem is. You think.
- 10:58You're going back home to Mari and African woman.
- 11:02But the reality is this globalization these women in
- 11:07Africa. They are even more standardized
- 11:09us of us die here. So if you're thinking of going
- 11:15back, home to get exactly what your mother is or was the
- 11:21reality is they are not that they know everything and chances
- 11:27are. Our that for its, you know,
- 11:29somebody that is in our 20s, to marry somebody in half in his
- 11:3350s. Then she has this jackpot
- 11:36mentality. She wants to leave Nigeria by
- 11:39hook or by Crook and you get married to that kind of person,
- 11:42you bring them here and you have projected a certain kind of
- 11:47personality, a certain kind of world around them.
- 11:51You have told them about how you have you listened, people laugh
- 11:56by especially the Aspirins going home.
- 11:59They don't really tell the truth about the situation, especially
- 12:02those ones are looking for and wives.
- 12:06So they have the de spend money. They do talk, all the talks that
- 12:10is required. And then this women have like
- 12:14their, their perception of what they are getting into.
- 12:19But because they've been lied to, they don't have the full
- 12:21picture. So, when they get here and these
- 12:25men are telling them. Well, I spent about Unit seven
- 12:28thousand Pounds to bring you. You have to start working
- 12:31immediately. You have to get a cleaning job.
- 12:34You have to get a key, a job. You have to just support me and
- 12:38they are looking at them. Like why are you stressing me?
- 12:45I am just a wife. I am here to pop out kids.
- 12:48I am here to just sit down, you know, go live on Instagram, do
- 12:53my Tick-Tock. You got.
- 12:54These are two different generation of people.
- 12:58The mod is like no no. No, you don't have to go out and
- 13:01friends. All I need you to do is just to
- 13:04in fact, I don't even need children.
- 13:06I just wanted to help me out to pay all this death stuff and
- 13:09killed to marry you and they don't get it.
- 13:14Women in diaspora going back home to my merry men.
- 13:19Now most times is because they claim they can find husbands in
- 13:24the Aspera. I don't know how true that is,
- 13:30because there are men. Although even the men are
- 13:33thinking, okay. I don't want to marry somebody
- 13:36diaspora because, you know, they are.
- 13:38Why is that they have, they know their rights?
- 13:42Sometimes, these women are not happy to marry somebody,
- 13:46especially let's say somebody that in modernizing diaspora and
- 13:51it's so struggling to get his document.
- 13:53And then you meet a lady who are struggled and has gotten a And
- 13:57she would rather know dates that person who is looking for his
- 14:00documents because there's this on the line.
- 14:05How would I put it? Is this kind of perception that
- 14:09this person is just coming to me because of, they want their
- 14:12documents. So they'd rather go to Nigeria
- 14:16to look for a husband, who is obviously you're trying to get
- 14:21to the US or the UK abroad in general, and the marry that
- 14:25person, the Bring them over thinking.
- 14:27Okay. This person is going to
- 14:28appreciate the fact that I helped them or that is your own
- 14:35perception. That is your own intention and
- 14:39over person, a lady who went back home are either husband
- 14:43brought him here and she was expecting him to, you know,
- 14:47cheese half. It's basically not really kiss
- 14:50our feet in the sense of it, because she Where She Went above
- 14:53and beyond to, I can understand why.
- 14:56She was emotional about it because she borrowed money from
- 15:02the bank to process everything. And when he finally came into
- 15:06the UK, she was expecting him to look really good.
- 15:11She has all this debt to pay which I get.
- 15:14But he was basically trying to, you know, integrating the
- 15:18society, visit friends that he has known from childhood, and
- 15:22she was like, no, no, no, you're not going anywhere.
- 15:25You're not even supposed to be. Be talking to anybody.
- 15:28If they were that good of a friend.
- 15:32They would have helped you relocate.
- 15:35So I did the whole leg work. I did the whole heavyweight.
- 15:40Now, you have to help me to offset all these days that I
- 15:44have gone through. And the man on the other hand,
- 15:46is not even understanding that path because he will.
- 15:49He is thinking, I just go to the UK and I need to go around.
- 15:54I need to visit friends. I need to Tell people, you know,
- 15:58you have to go out, take pictures, go to London.
- 16:01I'll show. That's okay.
- 16:02You've arrived your 90 UK for this woman, or this man is
- 16:06telling you, I have all this debt.
- 16:09I have all this bill. I have moved from a one-bedroom
- 16:12house to two-bedroom house to accommodate you and I need help.
- 16:17I think the whole idea of what body was trying to say is most
- 16:23times people don't date. Or love, especially when they
- 16:28are dating. Somebody in diaspora.
- 16:30Everybody have their intention of, why do you want to date that
- 16:34person? This is why you see, people say.
- 16:36No, they use me for papers or they use me for this or they use
- 16:40me for that. It's not about amusing.
- 16:44Who is using, who is about you. The man in that Spirit, had his
- 16:49intention of going back, home to marry somebody in Nigeria who
- 16:53also have the intention of why they are marrying.
- 16:56Somebody. Yeah, age.
- 16:57So if these two people cannot meet in the middle to satisfy or
- 17:03manage the expectation, then there's going to be problem a
- 17:06woman named espera going back home to marry.
- 17:09Somebody in Nigeria. Also, have high own intention of
- 17:14why she wants to get married to that person because, you know,
- 17:17she doesn't want to give somebody paper in the dashboard
- 17:20I think in, okay? Somebody in Nigeria is going to
- 17:22be more appreciative and that person in Nigeria the mine and
- 17:26yours, too. Thinking, I just want to leave
- 17:28this country. I cannot marry my girlfriend
- 17:31because I don't want to have my children in Nigeria, and then
- 17:35you're proposing that offer to them to relocate, whether
- 17:39they're in love with you or not. They think, okay, this love is
- 17:42going to grow. And then when they get here and
- 17:46you do, these are two cultural this cultural Clash, this whole
- 17:50lot of things. There's lack of because I think
- 17:54one thing that people don't understand is Everybody have
- 17:57their plan or why do you want to travel?
- 18:00So, if my plan is to travel build house in Nigeria, make
- 18:07sure that everybody knows that, you know, I have arrived and
- 18:13you're marrying. That kind of man who is
- 18:15thinking, I want to help my family and a woman and that's
- 18:19where his marines that kind of person thinking, once he gets
- 18:23his going to help me out with everything that I have.
- 18:26We known and that person is busy sending his money back home.
- 18:31That is going to cause problems. So thank you very much for
- 18:33watching. Today's episode.
- 18:35The only question I want to ask now is, do you think that people
- 18:38in diaspora going back home to my readers in Nigeria, have an
- 18:43ulterior motive for doing that either because you want somebody
- 18:47to control either because they want somebody to be submissive.
- 18:51And I don't want somebody to be grateful for the fact that they
- 18:54help them out of Nigeria. Or do you think those in
- 18:58Nigeria, have an even bigger ulterior motive for Mario's in
- 19:02diaspora? Because they think, okay,
- 19:05regardless of that. I'm in love with this person.
- 19:08I just want to leave the injera. I just want to Jack Ma.
- 19:11I just want to get out of this country and when I get to the UK
- 19:16o us or whatever, I would sort myself out and if this union
- 19:22doesn't work, who is to blame, so let me know.
- 19:26Know your thoughts and let me know your view and thank you
- 19:28very much for watching. Today's episode.
- 19:30See ya. Bye.
