The Babylon Fire, a monster blaze that scorched over 107,000 acres and burned for nearly two months, is now 100 percent contained — but not yet fully out. Though the Manti-La Sal National Forest’s Monticello Ranger District is open to the public, smoke lingers in some areas. This fire, which began naturally in June, was the largest in the country at one point and the first to exceed 100,000 acres in eight years. Crews remain on the ground to prevent new sparks.
