Latest / Early Edition with Ryan Bridge / Andrew Dickens: The aftermath of Bondi
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I was pretty blue yesterday. Yesterday was a sad, morose
- 0:03Speaker 1: day reflecting on what happened in Bondai, the Jewish deaths
- 0:06Speaker 1: and their horror, and it was made worse by this
- 0:08Speaker 1: never ending stream of video coverage from every angle. Never
- 0:12Speaker 1: has a massacre been as documented and then distributed as this.
- 0:15Speaker 1: It's the power of citizens who basically have broadcast studios
- 0:18Speaker 1: in their phones. Right now, we have video after video
- 0:21Speaker 1: spread by the very social media that Australia banned for
- 0:24Speaker 1: the under sixteens this past week, and we saw the victims,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the dead and the dying, and those being given CPR
- 0:31Speaker 1: in their summer shorts and their flip flops, ready for
- 0:33Speaker 1: a day of family fund by the sea. They looked
- 0:36Speaker 1: like us because they are us, and the father and
- 0:41Speaker 1: the son they looked une remarkable, portly fat on the
- 0:44Speaker 1: life of comfort Australia has given them, and yet they
- 0:47Speaker 1: did what they did the face of evil itsel off
- 0:49Speaker 1: and banal. Now are you beginning to think these days
- 0:52Speaker 1: that Winston Peters knew what he was talking about when
- 0:54Speaker 1: he refused to back a state of Palestine earlier in
- 0:57Speaker 1: the year. I was one of the few who did agree.
- 1:00Speaker 1: There is no state. There was no governing authority or
- 1:02Speaker 1: governance legitimacy. But underneath it all there was no indication
- 1:05Speaker 1: that the Palestinians wanted peace, and his concern that her
- 1:09Speaker 1: mass was still armed and recognition could push her mass
- 1:13Speaker 1: and their supporters to a more hardened position. That's what
- 1:16Speaker 1: Winston said. So in the wake of the killings, there
- 1:18Speaker 1: was a Jewish block that I saw on the phone
- 1:21Speaker 1: in front of the dead and the dying, and he
- 1:23Speaker 1: let rip. He talked about October the seventh, He talked
- 1:25Speaker 1: about the harmas atrocity, and then he railed about Alberanesi
- 1:28Speaker 1: and all the other states and statesmen who then sent
- 1:30Speaker 1: money to Guaza and made virtue signaling noises about state
- 1:34Speaker 1: recognition and Lovererhold, what do we see? An angry, empowered people,
- 1:38Speaker 1: big grudge, still adopting a hardened position. Benjamin Nettinnah, who
- 1:43Speaker 1: wrote to Alberenzi back in August, He warned that Australia's
- 1:46Speaker 1: moves to recognize the Palestinian state poured fuel on the
- 1:49Speaker 1: anti Semitic fire and emboldened those who menace Australian Jews
- 1:54Speaker 1: and encourages the jew hatred which now stalks you a
- 1:57Speaker 1: street now, was Nettannaho wrong? Apparently we have a peace process.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Obviously it's not working. Apparently the endgame for the end
- 2:08Speaker 1: of violence between these two faiths is a two state solution.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But can we rarely see these two people co existing
- 2:13Speaker 1: anytime soon. For more from Early Edition with Ryan Bridge,
