- 0:04Chaplain Terry: Okay.
- 0:04Chaplain Terry: Well, I'm gonna start over just in case we missed it.
- 0:10Chaplain Terry: My guest today is my guest today is Jeff Dalton.
- 0:14Chaplain Terry: He grew up struggling with depression and low self-esteem.
- 0:18Chaplain Terry: We stopped at three items that he really were concerned and affected him.
- 0:24Chaplain Terry: Jesus wants our raw mess, pain, and mental health.
- 0:28Chaplain Terry: You can't heal what you acknowledge.
- 0:30Chaplain Terry: And the first time and he was rejected three times.
- 0:37Chaplain Terry: And the second time the message that it didn't belong.
- 0:41Chaplain Terry: And then the third mess, the third message was bipolar position.
- 0:48Chaplain Terry: Aren't you glad I'm not a doctor?
- 0:53Jeff Dalton: Well, I'm even more glad you're not acting like one.
- 0:56Jeff Dalton: Unfortunately, that's the problem.
- 0:59Jeff Dalton: The pastors and preachers, they act like they're experts, then they spew stuff that isn't good and stuff like that.
- 1:08Chaplain Terry: Yeah, uh and a lot of people, you know, uh if if you I'm moving around, that's my Parkinson's kicking in.
- 1:15Chaplain Terry: A lot of people they they put you in a little box, they put you in a little cage, and you're defined as that.
- 1:23Chaplain Terry: And uh I'm big on words and getting words is what what would get you out of the box, also.
- 1:30Jeff Dalton: Yeah.
- 1:30Chaplain Terry: So go ahead and pick up where number number one was.
- 1:43Jeff Dalton: He can handle yeah, he he really does, because if you read the Bible and look at the Old and New Testament, God oftentimes just asks for one thing from us, and that is our heart.
- 1:59Jeff Dalton: That's it.
- 2:01Jeff Dalton: Not our religious performance, but our heart.
- 2:04Jeff Dalton: Not um a polished version of ourselves, but our heart.
- 2:10Jeff Dalton: Because in the heart is who we really are, and that's our character as well.
- 2:16Jeff Dalton: And God desires, and Jesus desires a real relationship.
- 2:22Jeff Dalton: Well, part of having a real relationship is you gotta have honesty.
- 2:27Jeff Dalton: If there's lines, that relationship's gonna fall apart, and you're not gonna be able to have one.
- 2:33Jeff Dalton: So that's also why God, you know, Jesus, He wants us to be real with them.
- 2:40Jeff Dalton: You know, He wants us to tell them what's going on in our minds or thoughts that we're having or what we're feeling.
- 2:49Jeff Dalton: You know, it can be depression, anxiety, sadness, grief, anger, doubt, even, whatever, and be able to communicate that to him.
- 3:01Jeff Dalton: Um, and then when that happens, I guess it goes into the second point, you can't heal what you don't acknowledge.
- 3:10Jeff Dalton: And that's so true, too.
- 3:12Jeff Dalton: Where Jesus wants to then heal us.
- 3:15Jeff Dalton: And oftentimes I know in the church we think of healing as someone praying a powerful prayer and stuff like that.
- 3:22Jeff Dalton: And yeah, sometimes that happens, but sometimes it doesn't.
- 3:26Jeff Dalton: Sometimes Jesus wants to be more involved because in Isaiah 9 6, Jesus called many things.
- 3:34Jeff Dalton: One of them is he's called his mighty counselor.
- 3:37Jeff Dalton: And a counselor, if you go see a counselor, they'll listen to you, but then they'll do something more.
- 3:44Jeff Dalton: They'll start asking you questions, like how you how why are you feeling this way?
- 3:50Jeff Dalton: Um, what's causing you to feel this way?
- 3:52Jeff Dalton: What's something in the environment that's causing you to feel this way?
- 3:56Jeff Dalton: And what they're doing is they're pulling things out of you and they're getting to the root of the problem.
- 4:01Jeff Dalton: And Jesus does the same thing if we let him, if we after we tell him how we're feeling, we need to just listen then for him to ask questions or reveal things to us.
- 4:14Jeff Dalton: Like maybe this is why you're you're going to your hurting or sad.
- 4:19Jeff Dalton: You know, maybe you're in a relationship where every time you get together, they speak negativity over your life.
- 4:28Jeff Dalton: Therefore, you probably need to change the parameters of that relationship, or maybe even get rid of it and stuff.
- 4:35Jeff Dalton: And the thing is, it's like I like garden.
- 4:37Jeff Dalton: And it's like when you see a weed, you just keep digging and digging and digging until you get to the root of the weed, then you pull it out.
- 4:47Jeff Dalton: If you do that, it won't go back.
- 4:50Jeff Dalton: But if you're constantly pulling out weeds every time you see one left and right, the problem is they're gonna go back really quick.
- 4:59Jeff Dalton: You're gonna be in the same place that you were and stuff, yeah.
- 5:03Jeff Dalton: So, yeah, that's what I mean.
- 5:06Chaplain Terry: I just think about you give you can't give what you don't, you can't get healed what you don't know.
- 5:12Chaplain Terry: Man's a three-part being, he's a spirit first, yeah.
- 5:15Chaplain Terry: He has a soul, that spirit has a soul, and he lives in a body.
- 5:19Chaplain Terry: Yeah, well, the body, if you want to see yourself, look in the mirror.
- 5:24Chaplain Terry: If you want to see what you look like on the inside, look at your thoughts and actions and your words.
- 5:29Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 5:30Chaplain Terry: And then if you want to see what God sees you look like, look at your spirit, man.
- 5:35Chaplain Terry: Yes, and then so many times we have just discounted the soul, so to speak, the man's spirit, as being some kind of ghostly floating around.
- 5:48Jeff Dalton: Yeah.
- 5:50Chaplain Terry: That you can't see.
- 5:51Chaplain Terry: The things that are eternal are what you can't see.
- 5:55Chaplain Terry: Right.
- 5:55Chaplain Terry: The uh the things that are uh last are just a little while are things you can see and feel and touch.
- 6:02Chaplain Terry: This world was made by things you could not see, right?
- 6:06Chaplain Terry: And the more and God's word is especially, and so consequently, the more God's word you know, the more you'll see.
- 6:15Chaplain Terry: Not physically that will happen, not physically.
- 6:19Chaplain Terry: God's not down here looking at your facial expressions, he's looking at Jesus through through you.
- 6:28Chaplain Terry: Or through Jesus, he's looking at you.
- 6:31Chaplain Terry: Jesus is the head, we're the body, but we're the unseen body, the body of Christ.
- 6:37Chaplain Terry: Well, anyway, uh we're talking about people form these little images when they see you.
- 6:45Chaplain Terry: You don't see words, you see images.
- 6:47Chaplain Terry: If I say dog, you don't see D-O-G, you see a dog, probably your dog or somebody.
- 6:53Chaplain Terry: If I say black dog, well, we change it.
- 6:56Chaplain Terry: Well, then if we want those words to be cemented and concrete where they mean something and state something, we can't see dog, we see the image.
- 7:09Chaplain Terry: So what we do, we put a frame around it, yeah.
- 7:12Chaplain Terry: And that frame keeps that word from being changed.
- 7:16Chaplain Terry: You have a door frame, you know, you have an airframe for the airplane, uh, things like that.
- 7:23Chaplain Terry: So we we have a frame, and then we look at Hebrews, the words were frame, the worlds were framed by God, and by the spoken word.
- 7:35Chaplain Terry: What spoken word was that?
- 7:36Chaplain Terry: Jesus.
- 7:37Chaplain Terry: That's that's the word that got it all going.
- 7:40Chaplain Terry: So, anyway, sorry, I didn't mean to cut in on you there.
- 7:45Chaplain Terry: That's true, yeah.
- 7:49Chaplain Terry: The three truths.
- 7:50Chaplain Terry: The first one was Jesus values the people whose society and the worldly church devalues.
- 7:56Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 7:57Chaplain Terry: Oh, yeah, let's look at Israel.
- 7:59Chaplain Terry: Just look at Israel.
- 8:01Chaplain Terry: We you know, we the Jews are really if you want proof that God exists, the Jewish nation is proof.
- 8:10Chaplain Terry: They go there.
- 8:12Chaplain Terry: Uh Jesus' second was Jesus' definition of success is being faithful.
- 8:20Chaplain Terry: That's it.
- 8:20Chaplain Terry: I asked the Lord one time, what could I do to really please you?
- 8:25Chaplain Terry: And he got really quiet.
- 8:28Chaplain Terry: And I said, Well, tell me what can I do to really please you?
- 8:31Chaplain Terry: Believe in me.
- 8:32Chaplain Terry: And that's what he said.
- 8:34Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 8:35Chaplain Terry: Amen.
- 8:36Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 8:37Chaplain Terry: I thought I I thought he was going to tell me to fast or go without or do this or go around and look sorrowful all the time, or go around and try to look holy all the time.
- 8:46Jeff Dalton: Uh you know, we're not sitting there because that's what Jesus um told the people.
- 8:52Jeff Dalton: You know, the people said, We want to work.
- 8:54Jeff Dalton: You know, what what what should we do?
- 8:56Jeff Dalton: And Jesus said, Well, the work God requires is you believe in the one he sent.
- 9:02Jeff Dalton: That's it.
- 9:03Jeff Dalton: And in belief back then, we kind of get we we misunderstand a little bit, us people today, because we think belief or even faith is intellectual.
- 9:14Jeff Dalton: And it's not.
- 9:16Jeff Dalton: Back then, it was so much more.
- 9:18Jeff Dalton: Believe is you receive, you know, you take in.
- 9:22Jeff Dalton: It's kind of like, you know, if a UPS comes knocking on your door and you open it and they have a package.
- 9:30Jeff Dalton: Well, it's not good enough if you just look at the package and that's it.
- 9:34Jeff Dalton: Believe it's there.
- 9:36Jeff Dalton: You gotta receive it as well.
- 9:37Jeff Dalton: You know, you gotta take it inside of your home as well to receive the package.
- 9:44Jeff Dalton: That's the same thing with belief, is just receiving Jesus into your life every single day and stuff.
- 9:52Chaplain Terry: I'm gonna see if I can switch them.
- 9:56Chaplain Terry: Who's talking?
- 9:58Chaplain Terry: Oh yeah.
- 10:05Chaplain Terry: Sometimes you just don't know which button to push.
- 10:09Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 10:10Chaplain Terry: Two things you two things you never want to hear a pilot say.
- 10:14Chaplain Terry: Hold my beer, hold my beer and watch this.
- 10:17Chaplain Terry: And I wonder what this button does.
- 10:21Jeff Dalton: Yeah, not good.
- 10:24Chaplain Terry: Uh the thing that we do, you know, we said faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
- 10:29Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 10:30Chaplain Terry: So what would we do?
- 10:31Chaplain Terry: We go read the word.
- 10:32Chaplain Terry: We read it, and read it, and read it, and read it.
- 10:33Chaplain Terry: And they wonder why we don't have any faith, our faith isn't grown.
- 10:37Chaplain Terry: Because it you speak it, faith comes by hearing.
- 10:41Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 10:42Chaplain Terry: And what you what the measure you hear, is the measure it'll be dealt out.
- 10:46Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 10:46Chaplain Terry: Out of the abundance of the heart, the inner man, the man you can't see.
- 10:50Chaplain Terry: Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
- 10:54Chaplain Terry: Well, when you speak the words of God, God gives uh oh John 6 33, I think it is.
- 11:02Chaplain Terry: He spoke the words of God, therefore God gave him his spirit without measure.
- 11:06Chaplain Terry: He wants the spirit without measure, speak the words of God, speak to the problem, speak to the mountain.
- 11:12Chaplain Terry: Yes, you know, talk, talk to the mountain, don't whine and complain about it.
- 11:16Chaplain Terry: Oh God, you know, I'm I'm so beaten and pushed down and trodden through the heat and the cold and at the end of the road, there's God.
- 11:27Chaplain Terry: Well, my God's not at that kind of road.
- 11:32Chaplain Terry: My God's at a heavenly, heavenly road.
- 11:35Chaplain Terry: You know, it just well, tell me about December 25th, 2025, where you hit rock bottom.
- 11:43Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 11:45Jeff Dalton: Well, uh in December, um, I'm polished my book, Specials of the Heart, poems, and devotionals.
- 11:54Jeff Dalton: And I took out a Facebook ad for one week to promote it, sell it.
- 12:01Jeff Dalton: Um and after a week, um, I didn't sell a thing.
- 12:06Jeff Dalton: And that's when everything just came apart.
- 12:11Jeff Dalton: I had enough.
- 12:13Jeff Dalton: And I just did a video about it, and I said, well, I've come to the conclusion that either God doesn't exist or that God's against me.
- 12:23Jeff Dalton: And that's all I really said.
- 12:25Jeff Dalton: And I turned off the camera, and it's like the lights went out.
- 12:30Jeff Dalton: Um, and the reason why I said I said that God's against me, because you know, I've I've tried to start a business three times and I've failed.
- 12:41Jeff Dalton: Tried doing stocks, failed.
- 12:44Jeff Dalton: Um, wanted to be a traveling preacher, failed.
- 12:47Jeff Dalton: Didn't become one.
- 12:48Jeff Dalton: So I'm like, you know, I feel like God's against me because he's not blessing me.
- 12:54Jeff Dalton: Because a lot of times we equate God's blessing with his pleasure, if God's pleased.
- 13:01Jeff Dalton: Yeah.
- 13:02Jeff Dalton: And so then that's why I thought that, or he just doesn't exist and stuff.
- 13:10Jeff Dalton: But then a few weeks later, I started thinking about Jesus again.
- 13:14Jeff Dalton: And for 38 years, I've dabbled into science of history, um, culture, Jewish culture, and ancient history, archaeology, stuff like that.
- 13:27Jeff Dalton: So I know enough where um there's a lot of evidences that God does exist and the Bible is reliable.
- 13:36Jeff Dalton: And and a lot of, well, a good number of atheist historians believe that Jesus actually existed, he was a real person.
- 13:46Jeff Dalton: So I start thinking about Jesus again.
- 13:50Jeff Dalton: And then there's two claims that he made in in John.
- 13:54Jeff Dalton: One of them is in John 14, 6, where Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, meaning absolute truth, not just his truth, and the life or life giver.
- 14:07Jeff Dalton: And no one can get to the Father or God except through him.
- 14:11Jeff Dalton: That's a big claim.
- 14:13Jeff Dalton: No one else has ever made that.
- 14:16Jeff Dalton: Um, number two, in John chapter 8, this is about identity.
- 14:27Jeff Dalton: Because they were talking about identity, and Jesus finally said, before Abraham was born, Abraham was in the in Genesis, he's really old and stuff.
- 14:39Jeff Dalton: Before Abraham was born, I am.
- 14:43Jeff Dalton: Now here's the thing.
- 14:45Jeff Dalton: Now it's true that people say that, well, Jesus never claimed to be God, never said he was God.
- 14:51Jeff Dalton: Well, yeah, they're right.
- 14:54Jeff Dalton: He never did.
- 14:55Jeff Dalton: He went one step further.
- 14:57Jeff Dalton: He got specific.
- 14:58Jeff Dalton: He said, I am, he's God's name.
- 15:03Jeff Dalton: The name that God gave Moses back in Exodus.
- 15:07Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 15:08Jeff Dalton: When Moses asked God, um, would I go to Pharaoh to set demand that he set the Israelites free?
- 15:15Jeff Dalton: Who shall I say send me?
- 15:17Jeff Dalton: And God said, Tell them I am that I am sent to you.
- 15:22Jeff Dalton: And I am is the the creator, the king of the universe, the creator of you, and me, I am.
- 15:31Jeff Dalton: And the second thing about that, when Jesus said that, the reaction of the people, some of them were religious leaders who knew the old testament.
- 15:41Jeff Dalton: Then what did they do?
- 15:42Jeff Dalton: Picked up stones to stone him.
- 15:45Jeff Dalton: Why?
- 15:46Jeff Dalton: Because he committed blasphemy.
- 15:48Jeff Dalton: In other words, he claimed they knew, understood, he claimed to be God.
- 15:54Jeff Dalton: Yes, and knowing what I know, I cannot intellectually with honesty dismiss those two claims.
- 16:03Jeff Dalton: I just can't, yeah, I just can't do it.
- 16:06Chaplain Terry: In the Hebrew, well, in the Greek, where it says that you're of your father, the devil, because he was they were speaking.
- 16:15Chaplain Terry: They said that because you have an accent.
- 16:17Chaplain Terry: The accent he had was not Eastern Jerusalem or Western Jerusalem.
- 16:23Chaplain Terry: The accent he had was the accent of God.
- 16:26Chaplain Terry: That's what they that's what they yeah, that blew him away.
- 16:31Chaplain Terry: That was the accent that he said you guys don't recognize.
- 16:35Chaplain Terry: Wouldn't you imagine telling that to your pastor?
- 16:38Chaplain Terry: If you're right.
- 16:41Chaplain Terry: I wouldn't, I don't know that I'd recommend it anyway.
- 16:44Chaplain Terry: Uh the other thing, you know, we do a lot of times, we we say we give it to the Lord and we take it back.
- 16:54Chaplain Terry: And we we give it to the Lord again, we take it back.
- 16:57Chaplain Terry: And people say it's it's God uh it's got a uh God of second chances, you better believe He is.
- 17:05Chaplain Terry: Third, fourth, fifth.
- 17:07Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 17:07Chaplain Terry: However many however many times you want to go.
- 17:09Jeff Dalton: As long as there's anything like that.
- 17:12Chaplain Terry: Okay.
- 17:13Chaplain Terry: I'm sorry about that.
- 17:19Chaplain Terry: That's all right.
- 17:20Chaplain Terry: I'm still trying to get it.
- 17:22Jeff Dalton: Yeah.
- 17:32Chaplain Terry: Excuse me.
- 17:33Chaplain Terry: I'm an old man.
- 17:35Chaplain Terry: When I was a kid, the Dead Sea was just getting sick.
- 17:39Chaplain Terry: I'm an old man, and computers and buttons don't work very good with me.
- 17:43Chaplain Terry: I have an instrument rated license for flying airplanes, but I had to give that up because of Parkinson's.
- 17:49Jeff Dalton: Oh wow.
- 17:50Chaplain Terry: But I had a hard time getting my instrument rating because of PCs and automation and stuff now.
- 17:55Chaplain Terry: The GPS are great.
- 17:57Chaplain Terry: Let's pick back up here.
- 17:59Chaplain Terry: We're talking about giving things to the Lord.
- 18:02Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 18:03Chaplain Terry: You know, uh, I'm gonna give up this for the Lord, I'm gonna give up that for the Lord.
- 18:07Chaplain Terry: The Lord gave up his heavenly seat in heaven, his place in heaven, and came down to where he was 100% God and 100% man.
- 18:16Jeff Dalton: Yes.
- 18:16Chaplain Terry: Now granted, he's the son of God, absolutely.
- 18:19Chaplain Terry: But he did it correctly, and he did it thoroughly, and so every sin, disease, everything is conquered.
- 18:28Chaplain Terry: Well, if Brother Terry, if that's the case, how come this didn't happen?
- 18:33Chaplain Terry: How come that didn't happen?
- 18:35Chaplain Terry: You know, I I was I've been saved for over 2,000 years, but only found out about it about 50 years ago.
- 18:42Chaplain Terry: As like having a cold, you know, the Lord, the Lord heals me of the flu, but my body has to catch up to it, and your body with all your habits and and quirks and stuff will keep you from catching up to where the spirit is.
- 19:00Chaplain Terry: Uh in January you broke free.
- 19:05Chaplain Terry: A performative Christianity.
- 19:07Chaplain Terry: I like that.
- 19:08Chaplain Terry: That's a good and entered into a more loving-honous conversion relationship.
- 19:12Chaplain Terry: Was there something that happened that brought that about?
- 19:15Jeff Dalton: Oh, yeah.
- 19:16Jeff Dalton: Um, I started reading the gospels again because they're about Jesus, and it was like the blinders just came flying off.
- 19:25Jeff Dalton: And one thing that I found was the parable of the talents and the gospel of Matthew, and it's really, and you know, I I've read this story a hundred times, but you know, Jesus finally opened up my eyes, and I guess I was maybe ready to see that's why.
- 19:48Jeff Dalton: But it's interesting that story because you know, basically, uh uh the master hands three of his servants some money.
- 19:58Jeff Dalton: One of them ten, one of them, I'm sorry, one of them five, one of them two, one of them one.
- 20:04Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 20:04Jeff Dalton: And then he leaves.
- 20:06Jeff Dalton: So the one with the five goes out, and vast gains five more talents, ten.
- 20:12Jeff Dalton: The other one goes out, invest gains two more, four.
- 20:18Jeff Dalton: The last one decides he's gonna take that one talent and bury it in the sink, not do anything with it whatsoever.
- 20:28Jeff Dalton: The master comes back, goes to the person with the five, so well, what'd you do?
- 20:34Jeff Dalton: And the person was excited.
- 20:36Jeff Dalton: You gave me five, I gained five more.
- 20:39Jeff Dalton: Now, here's the interesting part.
- 20:42Jeff Dalton: The master did not praise the that one with how much they produced.
- 20:48Jeff Dalton: He didn't, didn't even mention it.
- 20:51Jeff Dalton: All he said was, good, well done, good and faithful servant.
- 20:56Jeff Dalton: You've been faithful with a few.
- 20:58Jeff Dalton: I'm gonna give you more responsibility.
- 21:01Jeff Dalton: Then he goes down to second person.
- 21:03Jeff Dalton: Second person excited, said the same thing.
- 21:06Jeff Dalton: Look at what I produced.
- 21:07Jeff Dalton: I produced two more.
- 21:09Jeff Dalton: The master praised him the same way.
- 21:12Jeff Dalton: You've been faithful.
- 21:15Jeff Dalton: Good job.
- 21:16Jeff Dalton: The the the last one you did one, master said, What'd you do?
- 21:22Jeff Dalton: The the one said, I was afraid, I hit it.
- 21:25Jeff Dalton: And the master said, You lazy servant.
- 21:28Jeff Dalton: Yep, and and took away his talent.
- 21:31Jeff Dalton: So, to me, that shows me that Jesus is concerned with my faithfulness, not how much I produce.
- 21:41Jeff Dalton: And there's other scripture verses as well, you know, that that really show that.
- 21:46Jeff Dalton: Jesus does not care about the numbers, doesn't care about how many followers you have, how many views, how big of a church, how much money your business is bringing in.
- 21:57Jeff Dalton: All he cares about is being.
- 21:59Jeff Dalton: Faithful.
- 22:01Jeff Dalton: So that set me free from performative Christianity, which is all about what you can produce, what you can produce, what you can do, what you can do.
- 22:12Chaplain Terry: Um, as a chaplain, we go to meetings, yeah.
- 22:15Chaplain Terry: We baptize this many people, we bap we sign this many people up.
- 22:20Chaplain Terry: Now they have to have church record to understand that.
- 22:22Chaplain Terry: Yeah, but yeah, no, no, he accepts me just as I am.
- 22:27Chaplain Terry: Yes, but he makes me what he wants me to be in Christ.
- 22:31Chaplain Terry: Amen.
- 22:32Chaplain Terry: And you know, he who knew no sin was made to be sin for me, that I might be made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
- 22:40Chaplain Terry: Yeah, say what you want, but I have a right standing before the Father in a court of law and in heaven.
- 22:45Chaplain Terry: Now go and you go and you go in respectfully, you don't go in there commanding him to do anything.
- 22:51Chaplain Terry: Right.
- 22:52Chaplain Terry: You're the servant, you know.
- 22:54Jeff Dalton: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 22:56Jeff Dalton: We we we get that twisted a lot.
- 22:59Chaplain Terry: Yeah, just say this or do that.
- 23:01Chaplain Terry: And then God's gonna he has to do this, he has to do that.
- 23:04Chaplain Terry: He doesn't have to do anything.
- 23:06Chaplain Terry: No, he doesn't, and it's by the grace of God that he didn't he hadn't gave up on us already.
- 23:12Chaplain Terry: Yeah, no.
- 23:14Chaplain Terry: I was preaching a sermon one Sunday morning, and in the middle of my sermon, the Lord spoke to my heart and said, When you pray, how do I hear you?
- 23:24Chaplain Terry: I don't know.
- 23:26Chaplain Terry: You got some kind of phone system up there or something, you know.
- 23:30Chaplain Terry: I don't really know.
- 23:31Chaplain Terry: He says, Well, when I talk to you, how do you hear me?
- 23:35Chaplain Terry: Well, that's easy.
- 23:36Chaplain Terry: You hear me, I hear you in my heart.
- 23:38Chaplain Terry: He said, That's the same way I hear you through the heart of Christ.
- 23:44Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 23:45Chaplain Terry: Well, you have any I sort of enjoyed this.
- 23:51Chaplain Terry: You have any how's your book doing now?
- 23:55Chaplain Terry: Is it doing better?
- 23:56Chaplain Terry: Is it doing around?
- 23:57Chaplain Terry: It's not okay.
- 24:00Jeff Dalton: Well, I think one of the reasons is I thought about 10 copies, which I'm happy about that, and mainly from family and friends.
- 24:10Jeff Dalton: Um, some strangers have bought it though, and left reviews and stuff, and I'm saying that's really changing them and changing their view of Jesus and stuff like that.
- 24:21Jeff Dalton: So that's really encouraging.
- 24:23Jeff Dalton: Um, but I've been mainly doing podcasts, being a guest on podcasts, and a lot of them are from African country countries in Africa.
- 24:35Jeff Dalton: And a lot of them aren't Christian, aren't Christian podcasts.
- 24:39Jeff Dalton: They don't um like advertised like that.
- 24:44Jeff Dalton: But a lot of them are Chris Christian hopes.
- 24:46Jeff Dalton: And when they see my story, they're like, hey, can you share an um special about performative Christianity versus relational Christianity and stuff like that?
- 24:57Jeff Dalton: Now I'm getting on more American podcasts who who are Christian.
- 25:03Jeff Dalton: You know, they have a Christian audience and stuff.
- 25:05Jeff Dalton: So hopefully my book will start selling.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Does your book have a link that you want to give out?
- 25:10Jeff Dalton: Yes, and it's on Amazon.
- 25:13Chaplain Terry: Uh-huh.
- 25:13Jeff Dalton: Great.
- 25:13Jeff Dalton: It's it's on Amazon.
- 25:15Jeff Dalton: You can click that.
- 25:17Jeff Dalton: You can get a digital copy as soon as you buy it.
- 25:21Jeff Dalton: You can download it on your phone, tablet, or computer.
- 25:24Jeff Dalton: And what my book really does is helps people be honest with Jesus.
- 25:30Jeff Dalton: Because my poetry is very honest, very raw and stuff.
- 25:35Jeff Dalton: And then it has devotionals like Bible verses and stuff, which really shows the heart of God, God's perspective, what God really thinks and feels about us and stuff like that.
- 25:47Jeff Dalton: I think too my book on my website, expressionofheart.com.
- 25:56Chaplain Terry: That's neat.
- 25:56Chaplain Terry: That's neat.
- 25:57Chaplain Terry: All right.
- 25:58Chaplain Terry: I didn't mean to interrupt you.
- 25:59Chaplain Terry: Go ahead.
- 26:00Jeff Dalton: That's okay.
- 26:01Chaplain Terry: Okay.
- 26:01Jeff Dalton: And the third thing is my book will show people that it's actually okay.
- 26:06Jeff Dalton: And that well, that God wants us to be honest and real with them as well.
- 26:12Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 26:12Chaplain Terry: Oh yeah.
- 26:14Chaplain Terry: One time I was complaining to the Lord about my wife.
- 26:17Chaplain Terry: She done something I didn't want her to do, or it made me mad.
- 26:21Chaplain Terry: I was complaining, and he interrupted me and he said, You know, I didn't give her to you so that you could riddle beriddle her and and talk down to her.
- 26:31Chaplain Terry: I gave her to you because she'll make you the best man you can be.
- 26:35Chaplain Terry: I like that.
- 26:37Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 26:37Chaplain Terry: And I happen to be your father-in-law.
- 26:41Chaplain Terry: Yeah.
- 26:42Jeff Dalton: Amen.
- 26:43Jeff Dalton: Yeah.
- 26:44Jeff Dalton: That's a good idea.
- 26:46Chaplain Terry: So my book, my book is uh is coming out tomorrow.
- 26:50Chaplain Terry: Uh it'll be it's called Something to Think About.
- 26:53Chaplain Terry: But I I deal a lot of Africa, Indonesia, uh, Pakistan, Bangladesh.
- 27:02Chaplain Terry: Yeah, I get a lot I get a lot of hits and stuff off from over there, which I'm glad to do.
- 27:08Chaplain Terry: Was there anything else you'd like to leave us before we wind this up?
- 27:14Jeff Dalton: Um, I I mean I just wanna well I want to let your viewers know, let you guys know that the cross is a sign of value.
- 27:29Jeff Dalton: It's a value statement.
- 27:31Chaplain Terry: It's a big buck sign.
- 27:33Jeff Dalton: It is, and here's what I mean by that.
- 27:35Jeff Dalton: Let's say you're at home and you're holding a penny and you lose the penny, you're not gonna think much about it, right?
- 27:43Jeff Dalton: Or at all.
- 27:44Jeff Dalton: But then you're at home and you're holding on to a 24 karat diamond ring, and you lose it.
- 27:52Jeff Dalton: What are you gonna do?
- 27:54Jeff Dalton: You're gonna tear your house up looking for it.
- 27:58Jeff Dalton: You're gonna spend all your time, all your energy, you're gonna be flipping cushions to look for that diamond ring.
- 28:07Jeff Dalton: Well, think about this: Jesus, who was in heaven, enjoying the comforts, the riches, the perfection of heaven, came down to earth 2,000 years ago to a broken down, cold, sinful world, took on human flesh that was frail, could get sick, could get tired.
- 28:29Jeff Dalton: Taught for about three and a half years, got rejected constantly, then willingly let himself be nailed to a cross.
- 28:44Jeff Dalton: And while on the cross dying, he was paying the penalty for your sin and my sin, right, that we could not pay, because good works can't get us into heaven, because we were we're guilty, and Jesus took our guilt, and then Jesus died on the cross because the ultimate penalty for sin is death, or Romans says the wages of sin or the paycheck for sin is death, that's what we earn for sin, death, but Jesus earned it for us.
- 29:21Jeff Dalton: Then three days later, Jesus rose from the dead.
- 29:30Chaplain Terry: Left the sin in hell.
- 29:31Jeff Dalton: Yes, he did.
- 29:32Jeff Dalton: Yes, he did.
- 29:33Jeff Dalton: That is so neat, and now Jesus, and the reason why Jesus did this, so he could be with you and I forever in heaven, so we can have a personal, personal, one-on-one.
- 29:47Jeff Dalton: You don't need a mediator, honest, you can be real with him, he's gonna be real with you, loving relationship with him, with your creator.
- 29:58Jeff Dalton: That is value.
- 30:00Jeff Dalton: So if anyone feels like they're worthless, like they're no good, like they're a reject, look at the cross, look at the cross.
- 30:09Jeff Dalton: Jesus did this for you because he values you just the way you are, because he made you.
- 30:17Chaplain Terry: Yeah, when I look at that cross, God's arithmetic is add and multiply.
- 30:24Chaplain Terry: The devil's is subtract and divide.
- 30:27Chaplain Terry: Yes.
- 30:28Chaplain Terry: Well, Jeff, I've enjoyed this.
- 30:31Chaplain Terry: Me too, folks.

- 30:50Chaplain Terry: And you're not gonna go wrong by getting the word in all kinds of forms.
- 30:54Chaplain Terry: You're you know, by the word.
- 30:56Chaplain Terry: Quit reading the junk, quit reading the news, quit listening to it.
- 31:00Chaplain Terry: For with the measure you listen to it, it it'll be dealt to you again.
- 31:03Chaplain Terry: You don't, you know, t today's news will be tomorrow's bird cage cover.

- 31:29Chaplain Terry: In Jesus' name.
