- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hello everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous podcast. Today Guess
- 0:10Speaker 2: what I Am joined by Ben Higgins Surprise and his
- 0:15Speaker 2: beautiful wife, Jessica Clark Higgins. We wanted to do a
- 0:18Speaker 2: little catch up about parenthood about one month in So
- 0:23Speaker 2: Hello guys, Ben, Welcome to your podcast.
- 0:26Speaker 3: It's been a long time since I've been here. Thanks
- 0:28Speaker 3: for the invite.
- 0:32Speaker 2: So first off, jess how are you feeling emotionally physically
- 0:36Speaker 2: about a month after giving birth?
- 0:38Speaker 4: Physically, I feel, honestly pretty much one hundred percent. I
- 0:42Speaker 4: definitely get tired faster than I did before I was
- 0:45Speaker 4: pregnant or had a baby, but I'm all healed for
- 0:49Speaker 4: the most part. I'm not in diapers anymore. I can
- 0:51Speaker 4: walk for like an hour at a time, which is
- 0:54Speaker 4: really great and amazing for my mental health because the
- 0:58Speaker 4: mental health piece of postpartum is a lot harder for me.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I've had a lot more anxiety than I thought I would,
- 1:05Speaker 4: a lot more emotional than I normally am.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Why did you look at me when you said that?
- 1:10Speaker 5: Because I've been more emotional.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Because you can vouch for her, yeah, yeah, I'll support her.
- 1:16Speaker 2: And say yes, is he looking at you thinking you
- 1:20Speaker 2: haven't been more emotional or has he been Like.
- 1:23Speaker 6: It's up to you to answer this both.
- 1:27Speaker 7: Okay, I don't know what I expected. I expected that
- 1:30Speaker 7: postpartum to be hard emotionally. I thought it'd be harder physically,
- 1:35Speaker 7: like Jess's was walking a week later and like we go,
- 1:39Speaker 7: we just got back from a family walk and like
- 1:41Speaker 7: we can walk pretty far.
- 1:43Speaker 3: She could walk for as long as she wants.
- 1:44Speaker 7: I feel like at this point, amazing, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:49Speaker 7: the emotions are are all over the place. I think
- 1:54Speaker 7: she thinks they're worse than they are. I think she
- 1:58Speaker 7: carries this like feeling that it's she's been a monster
- 2:04Speaker 7: she has.
- 2:05Speaker 4: I'm such a head case, which like I normally am
- 2:09Speaker 4: not at all, And I think that a lot of
- 2:12Speaker 4: that does have to do with the postpartum emotions. And
- 2:15Speaker 4: I am exclusively breastfeeding, and everyone has told me that
- 2:18Speaker 4: like with your milk, and it changes every day, so
- 2:21Speaker 4: your hormones and emotions change every day. And I've definitely
- 2:24Speaker 4: felt that, like some days I'll be totally normal and
- 2:27Speaker 4: fine and chill, and some days I'm like so controlling
- 2:31Speaker 4: or like I don't want to leave Winny or I
- 2:34Speaker 4: just get like nervous about little things, and there's I
- 2:38Speaker 4: have no idea how I'm going to wake up every morning, honestly.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Well, yeah, so breastfeeding isn't something that I did, so
- 2:47Speaker 2: I never I never got to experience the emotions that
- 2:52Speaker 2: go with it. I do think that it's it affects
- 2:56Speaker 2: you a lot, such a job that you are doing,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and you're providing for sweet Winny, so you're just just
- 3:08Speaker 2: know that, like every day you're doing so much, and like, yeah,
- 3:14Speaker 2: I think that like it's just going to take a
- 3:16Speaker 2: toll on your body, emotionally, physically, all of it. So
- 3:19Speaker 2: don't ever feel you know that, I mean you you know,
- 3:23Speaker 2: you know that you're doing an amazing job. So even
- 3:27Speaker 2: if you're feeling down, just know that, like you're killing it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But I do think that that probably does make it
- 3:32Speaker 2: a prostpartum more of an emotional experience.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I've heard that it does. I mean, obviously I don't
- 3:39Speaker 4: know either because I haven't not breastfed yet, but I
- 3:43Speaker 4: think that no matter what you do, when you have
- 3:45Speaker 4: a baby, you just change emotionally for a while, but
- 3:52Speaker 4: every day gets better.
- 3:54Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think it's I mean, I've seen
- 3:57Speaker 7: moments where it definitely feels like it's it's unhealthy. Like
- 4:03Speaker 7: There's been very few, but a few moments where I'm like,
- 4:05Speaker 7: she's not in a healthy place, something like she's not
- 4:09Speaker 7: processing things. Well that those are very few. There's there's
- 4:15Speaker 7: another side of it. I think that I've seen where
- 4:19Speaker 7: this like concern and she's not overly concerned. I'm definitely though,
- 4:25Speaker 7: like less concerned than she is, which was a shock.
- 4:28Speaker 3: To both of us.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, we asked you that question on the pre parent
- 4:32Speaker 2: podcast episode, and we thought that you would be the
- 4:35Speaker 2: nervous one.
- 4:36Speaker 3: No, very much, like not as nervous, but but there's
- 4:42Speaker 3: this cool thing.
- 4:43Speaker 7: So my point was, I think what Jess is going
- 4:47Speaker 7: through as a mom is actually like really beautiful because
- 4:51Speaker 7: she's more nervous, because she's alert, because she thinks about Winnie.
- 4:56Speaker 7: Like I don't expect that to continue in the way
- 4:58Speaker 7: that it is right now for ever. But what I
- 5:01Speaker 7: think it's I think it's a really cool way that
- 5:03Speaker 7: like our bodies or her body is like bringing out
- 5:07Speaker 7: this like motherly like instinct and love and care and like, yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 7: at first when you start to feel these things and
- 5:14Speaker 7: worry you're gonna feel crazy because it's all so new,
- 5:18Speaker 7: But as you get like in a rhythm and it
- 5:20Speaker 7: becomes more of.
- 5:21Speaker 3: A second nature to you.
- 5:23Speaker 7: I think what we're experiencing is like Jessica's body like
- 5:29Speaker 7: building up this like mom instinct, and I think it's
- 5:32Speaker 7: cool but not always easy, Like, yeah, you're gonna wake
- 5:36Speaker 7: up in the middle night freaking out, like thinking something
- 5:39Speaker 7: bad is happening to Lenny when she's just snoozing. But yeah,
- 5:44Speaker 7: I mean I've seen a lot of just change in
- 5:46Speaker 7: just like for the better, just becoming a mom.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I was gonna say, do you feel like moments where
- 5:56Speaker 2: you're like I am experiencing postparum depression, post part anxiety,
- 6:01Speaker 2: or do you think it's baby blues somewhere maybe in
- 6:04Speaker 2: the middle.
- 6:05Speaker 4: The first two weeks, I was like, this is postpartum anxiety.
- 6:08Speaker 4: I like had the shakes, I couldn't eat, I was
- 6:12Speaker 4: like sobbing at everything, Like when he turned seven days
- 6:16Speaker 4: old and I like lost it.
- 6:18Speaker 5: I was like, there's no way she can be a
- 6:20Speaker 5: week old.
- 6:21Speaker 3: That's one of the moments that I was thinking of
- 6:22Speaker 3: when I was like, this is help.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I like went to the post office for literally fifteen
- 6:29Speaker 4: minutes and like had separation anxiety. Like I I was
- 6:33Speaker 4: anxious and my body was responding in an anxious way.
- 6:37Speaker 4: But after those first like two or three weeks, I
- 6:40Speaker 4: haven't had as much of that. Like I am feeling
- 6:43Speaker 4: anxious all the time. I have moments where I get
- 6:46Speaker 4: nervous or I get anxious, but.
- 6:50Speaker 5: I don't think I have like postpartum depression.
- 6:53Speaker 4: I don't even think I have the baby blues as
- 6:55Speaker 4: much as I just I never worried about anything, probably
- 7:00Speaker 4: to a fault before I had a where like honestly,
- 7:03Speaker 4: I just let been worry about everything, and I was like,
- 7:06Speaker 4: if he's not worried, I'm not worried.
- 7:08Speaker 5: And now it's kind of flipped a little bit.
- 7:10Speaker 6: Oh that's hilarious. Okay.
- 7:12Speaker 2: So I would say that I probably had the baby
- 7:15Speaker 2: blues with Dawson, but it wasn't blues because I wasn't sad.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It was just everything. I was overcome by emotion, like
- 7:23Speaker 2: you for everything. A lot of it was everything is perfect.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I have a perfect little baby, and my family around me,
- 7:32Speaker 2: who's supporting me and living with us right now is happy, healthy, safe,
- 7:38Speaker 2: Like life can get better than this. So one is
- 7:41Speaker 2: then the shoe gonna drop. Like that was my constant
- 7:44Speaker 2: anxiety that.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Is so real every time something bad happens to her,
- 7:49Speaker 4: or not even bad. Every time she spits up, I'm like,
- 7:51Speaker 4: she has a stomach bug, like she has to because
- 7:53Speaker 4: nothing bad has happened yet, so like something has to
- 7:56Speaker 4: go wrong.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I totally really that.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Yeah, And then I mean, good for you on healing
- 8:04Speaker 2: so quickly. I was a little bit more of the opposite,
- 8:07Speaker 2: Like I felt pretty mentally good, like right off the bat.
- 8:10Speaker 2: It's because I hated being pregnant, so like it was
- 8:12Speaker 2: sweet relief.
- 8:14Speaker 6: And then my body like I couldn't. I don't know
- 8:17Speaker 6: what happened.
- 8:18Speaker 2: You were more torn than me, so tm I but
- 8:21Speaker 2: like I couldn't stand for more than five minutes for
- 8:25Speaker 2: like three weeks, like I'd be washing bottles, like just
- 8:30Speaker 2: moving every little direction, being like okay, I'm so uncomfortable
- 8:33Speaker 2: right now.
- 8:34Speaker 4: I started to do pelvic floor physical therapy before I
- 8:37Speaker 4: had her, and I helped me so much with just
- 8:40Speaker 4: like getting my muscles back, okay, like the standing muscles
- 8:45Speaker 4: and like even going to the bathroom and stuff like that.
- 8:48Speaker 5: I feel like that was so helpful.
- 8:51Speaker 7: I don't know what yeah, what, Yeah, I mean I
- 8:53Speaker 7: think Jess wouldn't say it, but like you got we
- 8:56Speaker 7: got to give her a lot of credit. Like she
- 9:00Speaker 7: was doing not intense workouts, but she was working out
- 9:04Speaker 7: up until like, oh yeah, the day of like childbirth,
- 9:08Speaker 7: and then she like really prepped her body to recover
- 9:14Speaker 7: physically in a really good way without overdoing it. Like
- 9:18Speaker 7: it wasn't like this crazy amount of like hour long exercises,
- 9:22Speaker 7: but it was like just doing something throughout the day
- 9:25Speaker 7: up until when he was born and.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Then even after.
- 9:29Speaker 7: I think has been not only impressive, but it would
- 9:31Speaker 7: probably be something like in the little amount of advice
- 9:33Speaker 7: I have for anybody you know that's entering into the stage,
- 9:37Speaker 7: like it would be advice I would give is if
- 9:39Speaker 7: you're up for it, like try your best to get
- 9:42Speaker 7: like physically healthy before so that you bounce back afterwards,
- 9:46Speaker 7: you know quickly.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Well, and here's what happened is everyone prepared me for
- 9:50Speaker 4: the physical piece of postpart and they're like, you're gonna tear,
- 9:53Speaker 4: like you're gonna have a hard time standing and walking.
- 9:56Speaker 4: So in my brain, I spent my whole pregnancy like
- 9:59Speaker 4: preparing my it, and I totally neglected my mind, like
- 10:04Speaker 4: what would happen when I mentally became a mom? And
- 10:08Speaker 4: so I think that, yeah, my body has been good,
- 10:11Speaker 4: which thank god, because my mind's been a disaster. But
- 10:14Speaker 4: next time, I would definitely maybe start like some talk
- 10:17Speaker 4: therapy sooner something.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Are you pregnant or are you completely overwhelmed by the
- 10:29Speaker 2: millions of products out there for pregnancy and postpartum? Well,
- 10:32Speaker 2: when I was pregnant with Dawson, I did a ton
- 10:34Speaker 2: of research to figure out what I really needed, and
- 10:36Speaker 2: I'm so glad that I found the washable Leakproof Undies
- 10:40Speaker 2: from the brand Proof. After you give birth, the hospital
- 10:43Speaker 2: usually sends you home with some of these disposable diapers,
- 10:45Speaker 2: these huge pads. But after a few days of barely
- 10:49Speaker 2: any sleep in the pads as they are chunky, I
- 10:53Speaker 2: was ready to start feeling a little bit more myself.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And this is where Proof Undies come in. So Proof
- 10:59Speaker 2: Undies are made of super soft, real fabric and they
- 11:02Speaker 2: have a high rise fit so they're incredibly comfy to wear.
- 11:05Speaker 6: I'm actually wearing them right now even.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Though I don't have my period and I didn't just
- 11:10Speaker 2: have a baby. They are designed with Proof's absorbent leak
- 11:14Speaker 2: lock layer technology, so they protect up to twelve hours
- 11:18Speaker 2: worth of flow. The best part is at the end
- 11:21Speaker 2: of the day, you just give them a quick rinse
- 11:23Speaker 2: and then you throw them in the washer, in the
- 11:24Speaker 2: dryer and you can use them again the next day.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I've been a long time fan of Proof. It's before
- 11:30Speaker 2: you know Dawson was born and it's been over three years,
- 11:34Speaker 2: so I am beyond excited that they have come out
- 11:36Speaker 2: with this new postpartum style. Proof Postpartum is available to
- 11:41Speaker 2: buy now at Target retail stores and on Target dot com.
- 11:45Speaker 6: So be sure to add.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Those your baby registry, your wishless give them to your
- 11:49Speaker 2: mom friends like I did with Jess. Every mom deserves
- 11:53Speaker 2: to feel amazing, So slip on these Proof undies and
- 11:56Speaker 2: enjoy those extra snuggles with your little one without feeling
- 12:00Speaker 2: a big diaper on your own. Buddy Ben brings up
- 12:07Speaker 2: the point of if you feel like you can be
- 12:10Speaker 2: physically active.
- 12:11Speaker 6: I'll say that in.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Pretty much both my products and says, I didn't really
- 12:14Speaker 2: feel feel like that I could. It's particularly with Dawson,
- 12:19Speaker 2: but with Hayden, I it was summertime when I was
- 12:22Speaker 2: in my third trimester, So swimming was really really great
- 12:25Speaker 2: and it's almost like, I don't want to say everybody
- 12:28Speaker 2: can go swim, but like you'll feel really great afterward.
- 12:31Speaker 2: If you think that working out's not for you being pregnant,
- 12:33Speaker 2: try swimming. It really makes you feel awesome. Yeah, okay,
- 12:38Speaker 2: So what about peeing your pants? Have you been doing that?
- 12:42Speaker 8: Like?
- 12:44Speaker 2: How long did you need to be in diapers for?
- 12:46Speaker 2: Because I had to wear a pad for like three
- 12:49Speaker 2: months post Dawson because I would leak at like the
- 12:52Speaker 2: sound of a faucet, like somebody could fill up a
- 12:56Speaker 2: bathtub and I would be like, I'm I have a
- 12:59Speaker 2: full stream coming out. I had no control over that
- 13:02Speaker 2: area for a while. And then I did M Sculpt,
- 13:04Speaker 2: which really helped with those muscles, and then I started
- 13:09Speaker 2: to get better and with hate in the recovery of
- 13:12Speaker 2: those muscles was even faster, which I was surprised I
- 13:15Speaker 2: thought would be the opposite.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I well, first of all, I want to talk
- 13:19Speaker 4: to you about M sculpt because I am interested in
- 13:21Speaker 4: that post party, but I also I haven't had any leaking.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Actually I was in diapers because I bled for like
- 13:29Speaker 5: three and a half weeks.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's typical. I said, three and a half weeks
- 13:32Speaker 2: is probably the average.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Okay, that makes me feel good because I was like,
- 13:37Speaker 4: this is going on forever, but I haven't had any
- 13:40Speaker 4: leakage yet. But I feel like I haven't really like
- 13:43Speaker 4: sneezed or anything, so I'm sure it's coming.
- 13:46Speaker 2: No, your public floor therapy that you were doing on
- 13:49Speaker 2: your own was obviously very effective.
- 13:52Speaker 4: I think it helped me a ton, and I do
- 13:54Speaker 4: it every night now still, and I'll start going in
- 13:57Speaker 4: person when I after six weeks.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Oh okay, so I've never done it in person because
- 14:02Speaker 2: I was like, I don't need anybody else looking at
- 14:04Speaker 2: my chascha.
- 14:05Speaker 4: I'm over this, I know, but I you know, I
- 14:09Speaker 4: like to run, yeah, and I don't want to Maybe
- 14:12Speaker 4: one day I want to run again. Right now, I
- 14:14Speaker 4: feel like I really don't, but maybe one day I will.
- 14:16Speaker 5: And I don't want to pack my pants the whole
- 14:18Speaker 5: time I run.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Ah.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, because if I go on a trampoline with Dawson,
- 14:23Speaker 2: it's like, Hi, I am peeing everyone around me, Hi,
- 14:28Speaker 2: I am peeing.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Oh, still on a trampoline, Yeah, I'll dribble and like
- 14:32Speaker 2: on the dance floor at Tanya's wedding, there was like
- 14:35Speaker 2: a song where you all.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Like jump jump jump.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 6: I was like, yeah, I'm dribbling on the dance floor.
- 14:42Speaker 2: So I mean I should probably have someone else look
- 14:45Speaker 2: at my jacha and actually go to public floor therapy.
- 14:47Speaker 2: But M sculpt has been very helpful for both times.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And M sculpt actually has another device. I'm forgetting what
- 14:54Speaker 2: it's called now, but a man of Stanton used it
- 14:58Speaker 2: and you actually sit on the device. It's non invasive,
- 15:00Speaker 2: it doesn't go up your body, and you sit on
- 15:03Speaker 2: it and it really does those muscles rather than the
- 15:06Speaker 2: ab which has the secondary effect on the pelvic floor muscles.
- 15:10Speaker 5: That's interesting. Passive, that's kind of nice.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Oh yeah, same totally.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So maybe it just doesn't affect me on a daily
- 15:19Speaker 2: And I'm telling you, trampoline's dancing, jumping on a dance floor,
- 15:22Speaker 2: those are like the only two things, so it doesn't
- 15:24Speaker 2: really affect my life.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah. Slide for Ashley.
- 15:30Speaker 2: What has been surprising to you guys as new parents?
- 15:33Speaker 2: Anything that people didn't prep you for?
- 15:35Speaker 3: Do you want to go first on this?
- 15:39Speaker 7: I think I think a lot of what I expected
- 15:44Speaker 7: with a baby.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I think people I mean, when he has.
- 15:47Speaker 7: Been an incredible baby, like she is a queen in
- 15:53Speaker 7: this house.
- 15:53Speaker 3: She is so sweet. She fusses when she like look.
- 15:57Speaker 6: At this, hello'sly angel face.
- 16:00Speaker 2: So she's got a great face, Like this is not
- 16:02Speaker 2: me being your friend. She's got like and she's becoming
- 16:06Speaker 2: like awake, an alert, and like you can see her face,
- 16:08Speaker 2: it's not just an out of the uterus face.
- 16:11Speaker 7: She stared at me last night and I stared back
- 16:14Speaker 7: for like a long time and it was just like heavenly,
- 16:18Speaker 7: which is wild to talk about. But so I I
- 16:22Speaker 7: know that we've been lucky when it comes to our
- 16:24Speaker 7: daughter and her ability to sleep, her ability to communicate
- 16:28Speaker 7: like that she's hungry or she's cold, and that's really
- 16:31Speaker 7: the only time she like fusses.
- 16:34Speaker 6: You guys, you trigger me, trigger me, deep, we.
- 16:39Speaker 5: Trigger all parents.
- 16:41Speaker 7: Yeah, I say that with a caveat like we've been
- 16:45Speaker 7: lucky in that, like we didn't do anything to like
- 16:48Speaker 7: have this happen.
- 16:48Speaker 3: It just happened. Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 7: Yeah, So I think a little bit of it was
- 16:51Speaker 7: the fear of how hard.
- 16:53Speaker 3: This was going to be.
- 16:54Speaker 7: Yeah, it's been less difficult than I mentally was preparing
- 16:58Speaker 7: myself for. I think is one thing I've been surprised by.
- 17:03Speaker 7: I think the side of that. The other side of
- 17:06Speaker 7: that is I don't think people prepared us correctly in
- 17:12Speaker 7: the sense of like she needs pretty much like twenty
- 17:16Speaker 7: four to seven care, like somebody needs to be watching Whinnie.
- 17:20Speaker 7: She needs to be like somebody needs to be making
- 17:23Speaker 7: sure that she's like, you know, not laying on her
- 17:26Speaker 7: pacifier in her eye like those types of things.
- 17:29Speaker 3: And I didn't expect that.
- 17:31Speaker 7: But I do think Jessica and I both read enough,
- 17:35Speaker 7: listened enough to advice and from others to be well prepared.
- 17:40Speaker 3: At least me personally.
- 17:42Speaker 7: I've been less worried about her, like it's crazy, but
- 17:46Speaker 7: like I see her doing things that like, you know,
- 17:52Speaker 7: she's fussing, Like I could sit with her crying on
- 17:54Speaker 7: me for an hour if that was healthy, without like overreacting.
- 17:58Speaker 7: And I thought I would be like a nerve and
- 18:00Speaker 7: I'm just not. I know she's gonna be okay. So
- 18:04Speaker 7: that's been surprising for me. In a response, that's.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Been surprising for me that he how chill he's been
- 18:11Speaker 4: about literally everything, and how I'm chill I've been because
- 18:16Speaker 4: I thought I really knew babies.
- 18:18Speaker 2: The mother response to crying is totally different than the
- 18:22Speaker 2: father's response. I don't know if you've felt this.
- 18:25Speaker 5: Definitely like a body response when she.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't handle it, like absolutely, no way. I
- 18:32Speaker 2: think maybe we talked about this when you guys came
- 18:34Speaker 2: on for your like one week recap. But like Jared
- 18:38Speaker 2: can think like, oh, he'll be fine. He's crying in
- 18:40Speaker 2: the crip for five minutes. We're only doing it for
- 18:42Speaker 2: five minutes, and I'm.
- 18:43Speaker 6: Like, I have to leave. There's a frenzy going on
- 18:47Speaker 6: in my body.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Yes, your body responds differently, I think when you're the
- 18:52Speaker 4: mom and I, yeah, I've just been surprised by that
- 18:56Speaker 4: because I'm I'm normally a pretty chill person, but I
- 19:00Speaker 4: just have no chill when it comes to her.
- 19:02Speaker 7: Jessica's getting more sleep than me right now, which is crazy.
- 19:07Speaker 4: She gives me five and a half hours and then
- 19:10Speaker 4: she'll go back to sleep for four more hours.

- 20:46Speaker 8: You met Michelle Lally in the hit Bravo show The Valley.
- 20:50Speaker 8: You met me literally during the most difficult chapter in
- 20:53Speaker 8: my life. Now it's time for you to meet the
- 20:55Speaker 8: real met Michelle SENNI yes, I change my name, and
- 20:59Speaker 8: I want you to follow me on my journey to
- 21:01Speaker 8: the Pursuit of Sassiness. So much has happened to me before, during,
- 21:05Speaker 8: and after the show. Before you can really understand the
- 21:08Speaker 8: eight weeks that you saw on TV, I think you
- 21:11Speaker 8: have to know what was going on from the very beginning,
- 21:13Speaker 8: from being raised by two immigrant parents, paying my own
- 21:16Speaker 8: way through college and working at Hooters, to starting my
- 21:20Speaker 8: own real estate empire, getting married, having a baby during COVID,
- 21:24Speaker 8: to that very same marriage falling apart on national TV,
- 21:28Speaker 8: to losing my mom to eventually finding love again. There
- 21:31Speaker 8: is so much to unpack and share. I'm on the
- 21:34Speaker 8: pursuit of happiness and most importantly, I'm on the pursuit
- 21:37Speaker 8: of sassiness. Listen to Pursuit of Sassiness starting on March
- 21:41Speaker 8: seventeenth on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
- 21:45Speaker 8: get your podcasts.
- 21:49Speaker 2: Okay, So, like this is what triggers me, and I
- 21:51Speaker 2: like say it with humor because like I think the
- 21:53Speaker 2: word trigger is kind of like funny and like absolutely
- 21:56Speaker 2: overviews and ridiculous. But like you, guys, I have an
- 22:01Speaker 2: eight month old and he gives me well, on average,
- 22:04Speaker 2: two hours, no, no, And then on a good night,
- 22:08Speaker 2: like last night was a good night, and he went
- 22:10Speaker 2: from two to five thirty yeah, three and a half hours,
- 22:16Speaker 2: and it was like.
- 22:16Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, just he alive. Yeah, Dawson was better
- 22:21Speaker 6: at this age.
- 22:22Speaker 2: But then when the like five month regression happens, he
- 22:26Speaker 2: regressed for like ten months.
- 22:29Speaker 7: Love.
- 22:30Speaker 6: Yeah, he was better, like he would sleep.
- 22:32Speaker 2: For like maybe four or five hour stretches at this point,
- 22:35Speaker 2: at the point that you're at now. But like, my
- 22:38Speaker 2: kids just don't sleep, like they're just not good sleepers,
- 22:41Speaker 2: hating it's particularly an awful sleeper. Every kid and every
- 22:44Speaker 2: pregnancy and every delivery is different, and that is what
- 22:47Speaker 2: I'm learning.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we didn't do any like no, we're lucky.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but no, yeah, you didn't like sleep train and
- 22:53Speaker 2: it's not like that she just happens to sleep.
- 22:55Speaker 6: For five hours no. Yeah, And I'm happy for you, guys,
- 22:59Speaker 6: it's very nice. I'm truly happy for you.
- 23:03Speaker 7: Jessica is doing some training though, like she is on
- 23:06Speaker 7: a plan in a pretty tight schedule.
- 23:09Speaker 5: Yeah, we're on.
- 23:09Speaker 4: A tight schedule, and I think that's been helpful with
- 23:13Speaker 4: her just kind of being chill.
- 23:14Speaker 5: She knows when to expect that she's getting things.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Okay, so she knows when to expect to feed and like,
- 23:21Speaker 2: and now when did you start getting on that schedule?
- 23:24Speaker 5: Two weeks?
- 23:25Speaker 7: Like she knows what she's going to be playing, Like
- 23:27Speaker 7: when she needs to stay awake, she knows like fifteen
- 23:30Speaker 7: minutes four feeding time, Like she starts to get fussy,
- 23:35Speaker 7: it's wild, Like she really like you, she'll know she
- 23:37Speaker 7: knows what she's supposed to be doing at every moment
- 23:40Speaker 7: of the day.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Right, do you have the most highly intellectual child ever?
- 23:43Speaker 3: Yes?
- 23:44Speaker 11: Wow, she's so advanced to wow, she can't keep her passing.
- 23:53Speaker 11: Don't you love that that at that age that the
- 23:56Speaker 11: pacifier is just gigantic on their face?
- 24:00Speaker 6: This thing so funny.
- 24:03Speaker 5: So sweet.
- 24:04Speaker 6: All right, well, we're happy to hear that.
- 24:05Speaker 2: You guys, you know that you are recovering so well
- 24:08Speaker 2: physically that you know you might need some more time
- 24:13Speaker 2: to get there emotionally and mentally.
- 24:15Speaker 6: But we're here for you. And you have the best
- 24:18Speaker 6: husband who is there for you as well. I do.
- 24:21Speaker 5: He's been the best. He's been so supportive.
- 24:24Speaker 4: He makes me feel normal when I am having a
- 24:27Speaker 4: hard time feeling normal.
- 24:29Speaker 5: He's loved me insanely well when I probably don't deserve it.
- 24:34Speaker 4: He's such a good dad too. Watching bim be a
- 24:36Speaker 4: dad is like the coolest thing in the whole world.
- 24:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:39Speaker 7: Yeah, I just like I get like I mean, I
- 24:44Speaker 7: obviously my role right now is very limited, but today
- 24:49Speaker 7: I had a really busy day Jess. I was like,
- 24:51Speaker 7: I want to hold Winny, and so jess brought her in.
- 24:53Speaker 7: I was holding her, and all of a sudden, I
- 24:56Speaker 7: was like, I haven't done anything in twenty minutes.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Like I just like, it's wild how.
- 25:01Speaker 7: Peaceful it is just to stare at her. Yeah, and
- 25:05Speaker 7: it's been a very peaceful season for me. So I
- 25:07Speaker 7: think in closing here, because I know we're going to
- 25:09Speaker 7: close up like there. I think we talked about it
- 25:12Speaker 7: at the one week like kind of follow up, but
- 25:15Speaker 7: I didn't reckon. I don't think I could put words
- 25:18Speaker 7: to it then. But like for many reasons, Jessica and
- 25:23Speaker 7: I started to get we we had a good lot.
- 25:25Speaker 3: We had a good thing.
- 25:25Speaker 7: Going here right with a dog and a good house,
- 25:29Speaker 7: and we loved our walks and our dinners, and I
- 25:32Speaker 7: got really worried towards the end of Justice's pregnancy that
- 25:35Speaker 7: that was all going to change in a drastic way.
- 25:38Speaker 7: And I didn't realize how like stressed I was about that.
- 25:41Speaker 7: But honestly, for the last five weeks, like things have changed,
- 25:46Speaker 7: but only for the better, Like our dog loves winning,
- 25:51Speaker 7: and like when I saw when I saw them together,
- 25:54Speaker 7: obviously I broke down for the first time. Like I
- 25:56Speaker 7: think I just was feeling so much stressed that I
- 25:59Speaker 7: didn't realize that like once I see life being so beautiful.
- 26:02Speaker 7: Now I'm like in a really cool season of like
- 26:04Speaker 7: peace and joy and like every day I wake up
- 26:07Speaker 7: just feeling this like enormous amount of like gratitude and
- 26:12Speaker 7: so that's.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Been cool for me.
- 26:14Speaker 7: And I didn't realize how stressed I was until like
- 26:18Speaker 7: a couple of weeks ago when I told Jessa was like,
- 26:20Speaker 7: I haven't felt this kind of peace in so long,
- 26:23Speaker 7: and I'm just loving this, Like so yeah, I mean
- 26:27Speaker 7: I don't know even with the hard stuff, it's like
- 26:29Speaker 7: but we're still doing it together and life's better and
- 26:31Speaker 7: I'm happy and we're going to make.
- 26:33Speaker 3: This thing work.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Let's normalize Dad pre pre labor stress, because like, guys
- 26:42Speaker 2: have so much stress leading up to it, and I
- 26:44Speaker 2: don't think they're very vocal about it because they feel
- 26:46Speaker 2: guilty about it. They're like, she's carried the child for
- 26:49Speaker 2: nine months. Why do I have to pumplain it's gonna
- 26:51Speaker 2: come out of her body?
- 26:53Speaker 7: Right?
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, But Jared had the exact same thing before Hayden.
- 26:56Speaker 2: He was so stressed about it and then he you know,
- 26:58Speaker 2: the baby's there, and you're like, oh, I can relax.
- 27:01Speaker 6: But guys, you know, like.
- 27:03Speaker 3: It's a real thing.
- 27:04Speaker 7: It is like and what you just said is exactly right,
- 27:07Speaker 7: Like you don't want to start bringing it up because
- 27:09Speaker 7: you're like, this is this is unnecessary, like this is crazy.
- 27:13Speaker 7: And then it's just been five weeks of not like
- 27:17Speaker 7: all easy, but it's been peace and excitement and joy
- 27:21Speaker 7: and and I'm really grateful for that because I was
- 27:24Speaker 7: I think I was carrying it for a long time.
- 27:26Speaker 6: M hmm.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I'm so glad we did this, and I'm
- 27:30Speaker 2: so happy for you guys, and I truly am happy
- 27:33Speaker 2: for your sleep. It's really really great, especially if you're
- 27:37Speaker 2: having anxiety, Like I want you to have the mental rest.
- 27:42Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm very grateful for it.
- 27:45Speaker 4: We have.
- 27:45Speaker 5: We have some big ones with little Winny over here?
- 27:48Speaker 3: Yeah here, so say goodbye? Is me close by?
- 27:51Speaker 5: Whinny?
- 27:53Speaker 2: So cute? Your so?
- 27:55Speaker 6: She's seriously so cute.
- 27:57Speaker 3: She is so cute.
- 28:01Speaker 6: Hold her up one more Time's.
- 28:03Speaker 3: The best family picture with me? Let me get let
- 28:07Speaker 3: me not choke you? Why I do this?
- 28:09Speaker 6: There you go so cute.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Oh the guys are going to be really good. I
- 28:13Speaker 2: know this all right, Well, guys, thank you. Until next time.
