- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, so today we are talking about the curse of knowledge
- 0:34curse of knowledge. If you've never heard of it
- 0:36basically boils down to one. Simple fact sometimes when you
- 0:40have a vast amount of knowledge even a decent amount of
- 0:43knowledge you become let's say Arrogant with that knowledge and
- 0:47you think you know everything or you are unwilling to take on new
- 0:52information and you know, the definition of intelligence is
- 0:56really to be able to take on more information.
- 0:59But when you have This curse of knowledge so to speak, you get
- 1:04stuck in what you know and you stay in what you know and you
- 1:07don't try to grow what you know or move what, you know, into a
- 1:14wider space so to speak. So how does this affect you?
- 1:17Well in my opinion you have to always stay curious.
- 1:20If you don't stay curious, you're screwed and boils down to
- 1:24that, you have to stay curious, you have to continue to ask
- 1:28questions, you have to continue to be that.
- 1:30Person that says, I am going to fundamentally continue to learn
- 1:34my entire life because if I don't currently Celine agrees
- 1:38with that, she's very loud right now.
- 1:41If you don't continue to learn, then what do you have?
- 1:44You have just that scope that you are stuck in your, in your
- 1:49own little Vortex and that is not going to help you get
- 1:52anywhere. I can promise you that because
- 1:54you'll just stay stuck in his innocence of fixed mindset.
- 1:58Because that's really the definition between Growth
- 2:01mindset, in a fixed mindset. A growth mindset says, I'm going
- 2:04to continue to learn be curious. I'm going to continue to grow
- 2:07and I'm going to continue to expand my knowledge base and
- 2:11move on. When a fixed mindset is in
- 2:14place. There's none of that.
- 2:16Basically it says, I know what I know and I'm going to stick to
- 2:18what I know and I'm not going to expand and I'm not going to grow
- 2:22and honestly if I was to ask any of you, if you would like to
- 2:25have a fixed mindset or a growth mindset, 90% of you are going to
- 2:29say, oh no. No, I want the growth mindset.
- 2:31Maybe even a hundred percent of you will say, I want the growth
- 2:34mindset. Well one, because it sounds
- 2:36sexy. You're right.
- 2:37And two because it is because you always want to be growing
- 2:39and expanding because that's the Human Condition.
- 2:42We want to do that for ourselves.
- 2:44So this other factor that comes in here.
- 2:48This crazy other factor that says, well, sometimes the
- 2:51smarter you get the stupider. You get is, is so prevalent in
- 2:57this world right now, it's everywhere.
- 3:00People believe that. Oh, they're right and they are
- 3:03stuck on what they are right about and their void of
- 3:06curiosity, their void of trying to learn more and see more.
- 3:11And that is called the curse of knowledge.
- 3:13My friends you have to stop and and say to yourself, wait a
- 3:17minute, I'm stuck in my own Paradox.
- 3:20I am here and I have to say this happens to all of us.
- 3:24Myself, included you guys hear me say that often because I want
- 3:27you to know. It happens to me too.
- 3:30And you can't just get stuck in it, whether it's something
- 3:33silly, like, you think, you know, something about a plant?
- 3:36Like I'll be growing something. Oh no, it's not the way it's
- 3:38supposed to go but I'm stuck in. What?
- 3:40I know as opposed to be like, oh, wait a second, that's could
- 3:46be something different. I have to look at this.
- 3:48I have to take on new knowledge. I have to go ask questions, I
- 3:51have to be curious and then all of a sudden, I find out things
- 3:53that I didn't know and you just, you just have to be willing
- 3:58again for the Curiosity factor and Can't stay in that place of
- 4:02saying, oh no I'm going to stay in this curse of knowledge
- 4:06Factor. So the biggest most important
- 4:10thing that you can do to help yourself out with this is to
- 4:13train the Curiosity Factor. So often times people will say,
- 4:17well, how do I get rid of something?
- 4:19And I say, well, you know, it's not about just getting rid of
- 4:23something. It's about making another muscle
- 4:25bigger. Because when you make the other
- 4:26muscle bigger, it's a heck of a lot easier to notice it.
- 4:29Recognized it and Of through it. When it does show up because
- 4:32again, just like certain emotions on our bus, we can't
- 4:35eliminate them. You're never going to eliminate
- 4:38the the curse of knowledge. It's just there but you can
- 4:42build curiosity way high so that it takes over and that's what
- 4:46we're talking about. We want curiosity to be built
- 4:49up. So it takes over and we don't
- 4:51have these conditions so to speak.
- 4:54So great ways to build your curiosity, reading reading is a
- 4:59huge, huge thing. And I'm not talking about
- 5:02reading the news, stop reading the news, read other things,
- 5:06that fill your mind cross-pollinate.
- 5:08If you are like, let's say you're a Knitter or you're a
- 5:11needle pointer, or you're a seamstress and you love to do
- 5:14all that kind of stuff with fabrics and Yarns and all of
- 5:17that. You could cross pollinate your
- 5:19skills over to painting. If you're a painter, you could
- 5:22cross pollinates from using watercolors up to using oils,
- 5:27which is a completely different thing you could start doing
- 5:29stained. Glass, if you're someone that's
- 5:32a flower arranger, you could start baking.
- 5:35You see, you can cross-pollinate and get curious.
- 5:38You can start to change. I have someone who loves to bake
- 5:41right now and she just found out that one of her cousins is
- 5:44gluten-free and or has Silly acts and she now has to be
- 5:48gluten-free. So she has completely changed
- 5:51her baking and she's trying to do everything gluten-free so she
- 5:54can help out and send recipes to her cousin and send her a
- 5:57surprises. So she's cross-pollinating
- 6:00button. To being just frustrated.
- 6:01Like she was in the beginning saying, all these recipes suck.
- 6:04She's like, okay, I've got to get curious about how to make
- 6:07these better. I've got to try something
- 6:09different and that's the winning Factor.
- 6:12So for me, I love to cross pollinate all these skills
- 6:15because I love to do a lot of things and just like the
- 6:19chickens people will say, oh, you know, it seems like you
- 6:22spoil your chickens. Well part of that is based
- 6:25around the fact that everything I read in the beginning when I
- 6:28was super, super curious. Again, I hadn't done chicken
- 6:32since I was a kid. I read everything that I could
- 6:35get my hands on all different types of books.
- 6:38And one of the main factors for chickens is if they have a
- 6:41really strong diet and if they have a really clean environment,
- 6:45they will thrive in different ways and you won't have all
- 6:49these other little problems that a lot of chickens have.
- 6:51So I made it a point to take that knowledge on and that would
- 6:55have been something. I did not know based on what's
- 6:58out there readily and Was able to create a different
- 7:01environment and I don't have these things, knock on wood, you
- 7:05know. I don't have these things, but
- 7:07I'm just telling you and this goes across the board for all
- 7:11kinds of things. So watch out for your curse of
- 7:14knowledge. My friends make sure you're
- 7:16aware of what you're doing with it and make sure you do a great
- 7:19job putting it in check. All right.
- 7:22I will see you all tomorrow and I hope you have a blessed day.
- 7:24Bye.
