- 0:35Speaker 1: I have Emmy Award-winning, Golden Globe-winning, former office mate of
- 0:41Speaker 1: beloved podcaster Heather McDonald of Juicy Scoop. You might know
- 0:46Speaker 1: him from his humble beginnings as a farmer. Then he
- 0:49Speaker 1: went on to UC Berkeley and became a full-blown lawyer
- 0:52Speaker 1: before he realized that he should really be a stand-up
- 0:54Speaker 1: comic slash model, actor, showrunner, producer, and All over, intelligent delight.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Welcome back to Juicy Scoop, Guy Branum.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Great to be back. Excited to be here.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Was that not the best intro you've ever gotten on
- 1:08Speaker 1: a podcast as a guest?
- 1:09Speaker 2: It was a really good interview. I would say possibly
- 1:12Speaker 2: the best. And also, I love when you get brought
- 1:14Speaker 2: up on stage by somebody who really knows you, when
- 1:17Speaker 2: you get introduced by somebody who really knows you.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Right, of course.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's nice because you know where it's coming from.
- 1:21Speaker 1: A lot of people love an unboxing. Right now we're seeing,
- 1:24Speaker 1: if you're on TikTok, there's a lot of unboxing videos.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Of people saying, here's all the stuff I got from the,
- 1:32Speaker 1: I'm not even going to say it, but apps where
- 1:34Speaker 1: you can get fake bags.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And they unbox all of it. But you have something
- 1:40Speaker 1: that we want to unbox. Yes. So bring it out.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Two very exciting things. I have my Golden Globe. I
- 1:47Speaker 2: have my Golden Globe.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So it comes in a beautiful box.
- 1:50Speaker 2: It comes in a beautiful box. I did not get
- 1:51Speaker 2: to go to the Golden Globes.
- 1:53Speaker 1: And this is not from China. This is a real
- 1:55Speaker 1: Golden Globe.
- 1:56Speaker 2: No, this is a real one.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Okay, so it comes in a little box and then
- 2:00Speaker 2: you open it up.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Can you take it out? Of course. And is it
- 2:06Speaker 1: really as heavy as everyone says?
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's so heavy.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Oh my God, it really is. Have you weighed it?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Do you know what it is?
- 2:11Speaker 2: No, I like looked it up online to see which
- 2:13Speaker 2: one weighed more.
- 2:14Speaker 1: I've done my speech so many times. I'm just going
- 2:18Speaker 1: to do it one more time real quick.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Okay, please.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Wow. This is if Golden Globes did podcasting.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Wow. This is really heavy. I just thought this was
- 2:33Speaker 1: a little thing I was going to do on the
- 2:35Speaker 1: side so that someone would know I was at a
- 2:39Speaker 1: comedy club. I didn't know that it would be as
- 2:41Speaker 1: big as this, but I was just a little girl
- 2:44Speaker 1: who was raised in the hills of Woodland. Woodland Hills,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and south of the Boulevard of Ventura, and to think
- 2:52Speaker 1: that I could make it here in Hollywood. If I
- 2:54Speaker 1: can do it, anyone can do it. 818 till I die.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Woo!
- 2:59Speaker 1: I'm gonna work this out.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh, which way do I go?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Oh.
- 3:03Speaker 1: They never know which way to go.
- 3:04Speaker 2: At the Golden Globes, you have a Miss Golden Globe,
- 3:06Speaker 2: who is.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Right. A nepo.
- 3:07Speaker 2: They used to always be nepos. I feel like they're
- 3:09Speaker 2: not nepos now.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Leave it out.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Should we just leave it out?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yeah, leave it out.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Of course. And then the much larger box of.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Wow. And this is for your writing on Hacks.
- 3:25Speaker 2: This is for my writing on Hacks, yeah. I've never
- 3:27Speaker 2: gotten one where I got to give the speech. This
- 3:30Speaker 2: is my Emmy.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Oh.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Well, would you like to give your speech here? Wow,
- 3:36Speaker 1: this is really beautiful. Wish I was this thin. Oh, wow. Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: when I set out to have this career as a podcaster,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I didn't know that it would be in the Emmy Awards. category,
- 3:50Speaker 1: but thanks to my award-winning episode. I'm going to imagine
- 3:54Speaker 1: that they do episodes for best podcast guests, and this
- 3:59Speaker 1: is going to be the episode. So I did not
- 4:02Speaker 1: know when I texted Guy, we're very professional, and said,
- 4:06Speaker 1: would you like to talk about Housewives on Monday, April 21st,
- 4:12Speaker 1: that it would result in this, but it did. This
- 4:16Speaker 1: is for you, mom and dad. Okay.
- 4:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Actually, let's give your speech. Let's give your speech for winning.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Oh, wow.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I mean, this is so amazing. I just want to
- 4:27Speaker 2: say thank you to everyone from the staff of the
- 4:31Speaker 2: show to the creators, Paul, Jen, and Lucia. I wouldn't
- 4:34Speaker 2: have been able to do this without all of you.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And we won.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You're not going to thank anybody else?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh, I would like to thank my inspirations, who are...
- 4:48Speaker 2: Rabbi Hillel for teaching me to value the importance of
- 4:51Speaker 2: all other people. Oh, that's nice. Mohandas K. Gandhi, who
- 4:54Speaker 2: taught me the importance of peace. And my former office mate,
- 4:58Speaker 2: Heather McDonald.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 5:01Speaker 2: What is your middle name? I forgot your name.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Heather Ann McDonald.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Heather Ann McDonald.
- 5:05Speaker 1: But that's fine. Ham. It spells ham. Ham, yes.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Planning on rewarding your staff this year struggling to choose
- 5:12Speaker 5: between a shop gift card or a pay anywhere card
- 5:15Speaker 5: stop choosing with options card your employees get both they
- 5:19Speaker 5: can spend with ireland's favorite retailers or choose a card
- 5:22Speaker 5: you can tap and pay with all in one reward
- 5:25Speaker 5: you choose who to reward and how much options card
- 5:28Speaker 5: handles the rest it's valid for five years with no
- 5:31Speaker 5: fees chipping away at the balance make your rewards more
- 5:34Speaker 5: rewarding visit optionscard.ie.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Today Amazing accomplishment. Beautiful. Do you have a fireplace mantel
- 5:44Speaker 1: at your home? No.
- 5:45Speaker 2: So what I did was I spent a lot of
- 5:47Speaker 2: time figuring out how I could get them tastefully in
- 5:49Speaker 2: the back of my Zoom scape.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Very smart.
- 5:52Speaker 2: What I did is because the box for the Emmy
- 5:54Speaker 2: is so large, I put that on top of a
- 5:57Speaker 2: bookcase I had and then I put the two of
- 5:58Speaker 2: them there.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Out.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Out. out.
- 6:00Speaker 2: And then the Writers Guild Award is there as well. Amazing.
- 6:05Speaker 2: We just got nominated for Peabody. And so if I
- 6:07Speaker 2: win the Peabody, I think, you know, move the Writers
- 6:10Speaker 2: Guild Award to a less significant place.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Amazing. Now let's talk about some other big news in
- 6:16Speaker 1: the world. Our Pope, Pope Francis, has died. Yeah. Just
- 6:23Speaker 1: after he was Part of the Easter mass, which is
- 6:27Speaker 1: the biggest day, if you're not Catholic or Christian, Easter
- 6:30Speaker 1: is a bigger holiday than Christmas because we don't really
- 6:33Speaker 1: know in the Bible when he was born exactly. But
- 6:38Speaker 1: we know we have historical artifacts of his death. So
- 6:43Speaker 1: rising from the dead is a bigger thing. Now, also,
- 6:46Speaker 1: a lot of people say, why do we say he
- 6:48Speaker 1: is risen? Grammatically, it should be he has risen. I
- 6:53Speaker 1: say he has risen. But then I've seen that it's
- 6:56Speaker 1: because it transcends time. And that's why people say he
- 6:59Speaker 1: is risen.
- 7:01Speaker 2: It really is sort of like one of the core
- 7:03Speaker 2: concepts of Christianity that, you know, there is the possibility
- 7:07Speaker 2: for eternal life through God. And so his rising is
- 7:10Speaker 2: not a thing that happens and is done, but is
- 7:12Speaker 2: something that is like continuous throughout all of Christianity. I
- 7:19Speaker 2: thought Pope Francis– I'm not Catholic. I am Jewish. But
- 7:21Speaker 2: I– I thought he was an amazing pope, and I
- 7:24Speaker 2: thought the work he did to open up and be
- 7:27Speaker 2: inclusive of people who had been long forgotten, to try
- 7:30Speaker 2: to understand a place for women in leadership in the church,
- 7:34Speaker 2: to try to understand a place for queer people in
- 7:36Speaker 2: the church.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Amazing.
- 7:38Speaker 2: And, you know, there were definitely gay people who were, like,
- 7:42Speaker 2: angry and, like, that's not enough, and, you know.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But it was a step in the right direction.
- 7:47Speaker 2: A step in the right direction, like, at this moment
- 7:49Speaker 2: in time, understanding that steps in the right direction are
- 7:52Speaker 2: better than a lot of steps in the wrong direction.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And he had like this fun history of like, He
- 7:58Speaker 1: rode a motorcycle at one time. He was a bouncer
- 8:00Speaker 1: at a nightclub. He lived somewhat of a bit more
- 8:04Speaker 1: of a life than like going right into the seminary
- 8:07Speaker 1: at 13 or whatever. And I think that's what made
- 8:09Speaker 1: him more relatable to more people. He was Argentinian. So
- 8:16Speaker 1: now we get to the place of who is next,
- 8:19Speaker 1: which is always– I want to say the only time
- 8:22Speaker 1: I came close to a pope– Was it was in
- 8:24Speaker 1: the 80s. I think it was Pope John Paul. I
- 8:27Speaker 1: don't remember. And he came into like Dodger Stadium.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And he was in the Popemobile and he went through
- 8:32Speaker 1: like Olvera Street and my Catholic all girl high school.
- 8:35Speaker 1: We got a bus and we all went and it
- 8:37Speaker 1: was a lottery. Like everyone wanted to go.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And I had my little I had a camera and
- 8:43Speaker 1: I took out the film to go to the one
- 8:45Speaker 1: hour photo and I left my foot by it. a
- 8:48Speaker 1: purse in one of the classrooms and it was stolen.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 8:52Speaker 1: So I never got those photos.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Oh, that's terrible.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And I always thought how crazy that the only time,
- 8:57Speaker 1: knock on wood, I've ever had something stolen like that,
- 9:00Speaker 1: the Pope pictures were in there.
- 9:02Speaker 2: But you did get to see the Pope.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I did. I got to see the mass at the
- 9:06Speaker 1: Dodger Stadium. And then I got to see the... I mean,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I can see it in my head, go by in
- 9:11Speaker 1: the Popemobile to protect him from bullets. And so... So
- 9:15Speaker 1: now they get together and they see like who's a contender.
- 9:20Speaker 1: And it's a lot of discussion of like who could
- 9:23Speaker 1: take us to the next place. Of course, some are
- 9:25Speaker 1: going to say this one's too liberal, too progressive. This
- 9:28Speaker 1: one is too– wants the masses to go back looking Latin.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Who knows? But we've never had an American or where
- 9:35Speaker 1: English is their native– their first language.
- 9:39Speaker 2: There were a couple of English popes before– at least
- 9:42Speaker 2: one before the Reformation.
- 9:43Speaker 1: See, I knew you would know that.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But what do you think about what– would it be
- 9:49Speaker 1: crazy for the world if they did choose an American cardinal?
- 9:54Speaker 2: It would be really interesting. I don't see it happening politically,
- 9:58Speaker 2: but it would be– especially at this time, because America
- 10:02Speaker 2: has done so much in the last couple of months
- 10:04Speaker 2: to sort of like remove itself from the rest of
- 10:06Speaker 2: the world. It would be really interesting to see what
- 10:10Speaker 2: would happen.
- 10:10Speaker 1: What if one was like, what if the one like
- 10:12Speaker 1: there's like a, I think there's one in New York
- 10:15Speaker 1: that they is very beloved. He's the one that has
- 10:17Speaker 1: like the Catholic like dinner and like Jim Gaffigan hosted it.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yes, Dallas Smith dinner, yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I think Timothy Dolan or something. Like what if he
- 10:26Speaker 1: was like up for it and now he's like, now
- 10:29Speaker 1: I'll probably not get it with everything that's going on.
- 10:32Speaker 1: But the Pope did have a bunch of comedians Yes.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And that all got to meet him. Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I think Wanda was there.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Oh, Wanda was there? That's cool. And of course, Jim Gaffigan.
- 10:42Speaker 1: He's like in there. And no Heather McDonald, but it's okay.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:47Speaker 1: It's okay. So anyone will see. But, you know, he
- 10:50Speaker 1: was 88. He was sick. But people do think, was
- 10:53Speaker 1: it kind of a spiritual thing that he died the
- 10:55Speaker 1: day after Easter?
- 10:56Speaker 2: No, I mean, that he was that sick and he
- 10:59Speaker 2: showed up to perform on his big day. And it's
- 11:02Speaker 2: A little bit like Bob Saget dying in the hotel
- 11:04Speaker 2: room after his show.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Or me fainting after saying Jesus loves me the most.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Just saying there's a correlation.
- 11:12Speaker 2: He performed his heart out and he left it all
- 11:15Speaker 2: on the stage and I respect that. But you saw Conclave, right?
- 11:19Speaker 1: I have not seen it. Heather, how have you not-
- 11:21Speaker 1: Because I'm like- I know. I have to. I'm going
- 11:24Speaker 1: to see it. Now I definitely want to see it.
- 11:26Speaker 2: It's the best. It's the bitchiest.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Because it's about them choosing the next Pope. Now everyone's
- 11:31Speaker 1: going to watch it, which if I was the producer
- 11:33Speaker 1: of Conclave, I'd be somewhat excited about this.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You know that the producers of Contagion made like so
- 11:38Speaker 2: much money in early 2020, right?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Because everyone was rewatching it. But first of all, Papal
- 11:45Speaker 2: Conclave is like the ultimate reunion show. It is basically
- 11:49Speaker 2: like getting everybody together and then hashing out what happened
- 11:54Speaker 2: on the Pope Francis season of Christianity.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I remember– remember how I would always do that lady
- 12:00Speaker 1: that was on like Montel Williams at Psychic?
- 12:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:03Speaker 1: What was her name that would like take her nails
- 12:05Speaker 1: and write like this? And she was wrong about a
- 12:07Speaker 1: lot of things.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It was the Long Island Medium, wasn't it?
- 12:09Speaker 1: No, it wasn't Long Island Medium.
- 12:09Speaker 2: It was this other– You were always picking things out
- 12:11Speaker 2: of your teeth.
- 12:12Speaker 1: She was always like this and then people would ask
- 12:14Speaker 1: her questions and she would get a lot of things wrong. Yes.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But– One of the things I remember she said is
- 12:21Speaker 1: that our next pope is going to be black. And
- 12:24Speaker 1: I was always wondering that. But our next pope wasn't black,
- 12:27Speaker 1: but our next president was. And so I was always like,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I wonder if she was seeing something. But who knows?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I think one of the big contenders is a dude
- 12:36Speaker 2: from Ghana. That'd be cool. There's an Italian guy who's
- 12:39Speaker 2: the secretary of state now who they think. And I
- 12:41Speaker 2: forget who the like. Oh, and there's a liberal candidate
- 12:45Speaker 2: from the Philippines that. is like the odds-on favorite right now.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Well, there's a lot of Catholic Filipinos, so I think
- 12:52Speaker 1: that would be... Anyway, so there we go. Rest in peace.
- 12:57Speaker 1: You know, beautiful life he's led.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Now, let's talk about... I've talked a lot about the
- 13:04Speaker 1: women going to space.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Gail did an interview where, you know, she's still shocked
- 13:11Speaker 1: by the backlash. There were people, content creators, that put
- 13:14Speaker 1: stuff together of why they don't really believe that they
- 13:17Speaker 1: even went. And I thought, how are they thinking this?
- 13:20Speaker 1: Especially because I get why people don't think we went
- 13:23Speaker 1: to the moon, okay? And maybe we didn't or maybe
- 13:26Speaker 1: they reenacted the moon for TV. Who knows what it was?
- 13:30Speaker 1: But I was like, I don't really think in this
- 13:31Speaker 1: day and age they try to fake it. Well, these
- 13:33Speaker 1: are the compelling reasons why people think it's fake.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 13:37Speaker 1: OK, I'm just going to tell you the reasons. One
- 13:39Speaker 1: is that the door was thinner than a door on
- 13:42Speaker 1: a plane. OK, so they're like, this is a door
- 13:44Speaker 1: on a plane. Why was the door so thin on
- 13:47Speaker 1: that thing? Now, we know the person tried to open it.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Then he had to act like he had a screwdriver
- 13:52Speaker 1: to open it. Jeff Bezos. So I think that I thought, well,
- 13:57Speaker 1: she's someone just opened it. OK, the other thought is.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Normally these little pod things fall in the ocean and
- 14:02Speaker 1: it seemed to have like fallen very hard. Why was
- 14:06Speaker 1: there no like, you know, EMTs kind of waiting on
- 14:09Speaker 1: site for someone like might've hit their heads or something,
- 14:12Speaker 1: even though they were, I assume strapped when they were
- 14:14Speaker 1: coming down. So those were the reasons I'm not saying
- 14:20Speaker 1: I believe they went up there. The reasons they're not
- 14:22Speaker 1: wearing helmets and all that is because they didn't go
- 14:25Speaker 1: to the place where you need the oxygen and the helmets, correct?
- 14:28Speaker 2: I mean, no, they're just going up. I mean, saying
- 14:31Speaker 2: it's space is like they just went up so high
- 14:33Speaker 2: in the atmosphere.
- 14:34Speaker 1: That's what Peter was saying.
- 14:35Speaker 2: That you like kind of are weightless. And it's like, yes,
- 14:39Speaker 2: things probably didn't have the precautions that they had, you know,
- 14:42Speaker 2: when we were doing this in the 60s because a
- 14:44Speaker 2: private company is doing this and isn't going to waste
- 14:46Speaker 2: a bunch of money on it. I don't know. I
- 14:48Speaker 2: think America is torn apart by everyone having a conspiracy
- 14:51Speaker 2: theory about everything.
- 14:52Speaker 1: True that. But this person did say this was pretty funny.
- 14:55Speaker 1: We are supposed to believe that that leftover Ted from
- 14:58Speaker 1: Coachella with the gas station bathroom stall door landed from space.
- 15:02Speaker 1: But I think we understand it was in space. They
- 15:05Speaker 1: did not go to the moon and come back.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:07Speaker 1: They, you know, didn't go to a space station for
- 15:10Speaker 1: six months.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Like, we've all seen those people who, like, fly up
- 15:13Speaker 2: in a plane and then the plane drops fast enough
- 15:15Speaker 2: that they get to be weightless for a while. Good
- 15:17Speaker 2: for them. Like, I think they just went up to
- 15:20Speaker 2: a high part of the atmosphere.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Do you think that it would be a better idea–
- 15:25Speaker 1: to now interview some of the other women that are
- 15:27Speaker 1: not Gayle King and Katy Perry about their experience going
- 15:31Speaker 1: up there? Or should they just let this go? It
- 15:33Speaker 1: happened last week. Move the F along. It wasn't well received.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I think they should let this go. I mean, I
- 15:39Speaker 2: think they were trying to get people excited about space.
- 15:44Speaker 1: But is this a goal? Is this a thing that's
- 15:46Speaker 1: going to be like this was just to get people
- 15:50Speaker 1: aware of it and now there's going to be an
- 15:51Speaker 1: opportunity where you can fill out an application and go
- 15:55Speaker 1: if you're rich for whatever $ 500, 000 with seven other people
- 15:59Speaker 1: or a million dollars with seven other people. and go
- 16:01Speaker 1: and do this and come back. What was the point
- 16:04Speaker 1: of this for Jeff Bezos?
- 16:05Speaker 2: It seems so stupid. I think Jeff Bezos, in the
- 16:09Speaker 2: same way he really wanted his Lord of the Rings
- 16:11Speaker 2: series that cost billions of dollars, he just wants to
- 16:14Speaker 2: get people excited about space because he's a nerd.
- 16:15Speaker 1: What was the Lord of the Rings series?
- 16:17Speaker 2: Amazon has been making a grossly expensive Lord of the
- 16:20Speaker 2: Rings series.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yes. It's terrible.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Because I'm not into shit like that, so I don't know.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But because it was the thing he wanted to do,
- 16:27Speaker 2: they have to spend all the money in the world
- 16:29Speaker 2: on it. I just think it's like, it is a
- 16:32Speaker 2: pretty ridiculous waste of resources to like spend all of
- 16:35Speaker 2: those fossil fuels. I assume it's fossil fuels to like
- 16:38Speaker 2: send people up into space.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Do you think any of them were paid? There's also
- 16:43Speaker 1: rumors of that.
- 16:44Speaker 2: No, I think if you were, I think if you
- 16:47Speaker 2: were Gayle King or Katy Perry and it was like, oh,
- 16:51Speaker 2: based on my fame, I can go into space. You
- 16:53Speaker 2: would be like, absolutely. Yes.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And like holding this, her set piece and her set list.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I mean, it was a good way to, Look, it's
- 16:59Speaker 1: hard to sell tickets these days. Go see Guy Branum
- 17:01Speaker 1: because he's really funny. But even for the biggest stars,
- 17:04Speaker 1: she probably was like, well, this is a good way to, like,
- 17:06Speaker 1: remind people I'm going on tour. Like, I don't blame her.
- 17:08Speaker 2: She's also been having a rough patch. Like, people have
- 17:11Speaker 2: been turning on her.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yes, this wasn't great. And so....
- 17:16Speaker 2: There are a whole lot of Sabrina Carpenters and Chapel
- 17:18Speaker 2: Rowans out there.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yes. Anyway, a couple other things. The windows didn't match,
- 17:24Speaker 1: they said, from where they were in the tube to whatever.
- 17:29Speaker 1: But I agree with you.
- 17:31Speaker 2: This is what happens when people not having enough highlights
- 17:34Speaker 2: for kids in their home.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Highlight magazines?
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yes. You would have the thing that's the two photos
- 17:41Speaker 2: and you figure out what the difference is. And now
- 17:43Speaker 2: everyone has to go to everything that's posted on the
- 17:45Speaker 2: internet and be like, that doesn't line up. That's not real. Okay.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So now let's move on here. This was really cute.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I don't know who made it. This girl, Lauren, sent
- 17:55Speaker 1: it to me, but she's like, I don't know who
- 17:56Speaker 1: made this, but it's the real housewives of Uranus.
- 17:59Speaker 2: That's very funny.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And that was really cute. And they're definitely all pretty
- 18:02Speaker 1: enough and style enough. And I did love the outfits.
- 18:06Speaker 6: They think you're done for the day, but they don't
- 18:08Speaker 6: know about the drawer. The drawer. Just the one square
- 18:14Speaker 6: before bed. Or two, you know. Nobody's watching.
- 18:20Speaker 1: You deserve a treat.
- 18:25Speaker 6: With eight flavours to choose from, you can choose the
- 18:27Speaker 6: flavour you favour with Cadbury Dairy Milk.
- 18:36Speaker 4: I'm Darman, and this is What Happens Next. Each week
- 18:39Speaker 4: on the show, I sit down with extraordinary people who
- 18:42Speaker 4: have faced tremendous setbacks and yet somehow have found a
- 18:47Speaker 4: way to turn them into their greatest strengths.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Life is one long lesson of chaos.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I'm heading to the Emmys, and I have police complaints
- 18:55Speaker 1: filed against me.
- 18:56Speaker 2: When your free will was about to be taken from you,
- 18:58Speaker 2: what would you do if it was given back?
- 19:00Speaker 4: Where did that need come from where you thought that
- 19:03Speaker 4: you had to succeed in order to feel loved?
- 19:06Speaker 2: He said, I have a work dad. I need a
- 19:07Speaker 2: home dad. What happens next? When I came in, he
- 19:10Speaker 2: started crying.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Everybody in life encounters hardships. What defines them is not
- 19:15Speaker 4: those hard moments that they go through. It's about what
- 19:18Speaker 4: happens next.
- 19:19Speaker 2: I decided to risk it all. I realized how valuable
- 19:21Speaker 2: every day was. You're worth the work. Listen, Dara, I'm
- 19:24Speaker 2: not going to pull punches.
- 19:25Speaker 1: You can use your voice even if it's shaped.
- 19:28Speaker 4: The stories are different, but the impact is the same.
- 19:31Speaker 4: Only one question matters. What happens next?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Speaking of real housewives of Beverly Hills, you are an aficionado.
- 19:47Speaker 1: How do I say that? Aficionado? How do you say
- 19:49Speaker 1: that word?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Aficionado.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Yes.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And so we talked a little bit about it. Garcelle,
- 19:56Speaker 1: you know, walked off, didn't take the photo and now
- 19:59Speaker 1: has unfollowed everybody. And Sutton spoke to Page Six and Sutton,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I talked to Sutton at the Masters and she told me,
- 20:08Speaker 1: She has not talked to Garcelle. Garcelle won't return her calls.
- 20:12Speaker 1: And I was like, well, maybe just give it like
- 20:15Speaker 1: a little bit of time and then be like, you
- 20:17Speaker 1: want to come over? You want to meet? But then
- 20:20Speaker 1: she unfollowed everybody, which is a real deliberate move because
- 20:23Speaker 1: we all know you can just mute people and no
- 20:25Speaker 1: one would have to know. So when you do that,
- 20:27Speaker 1: you want the fans to know that you unfollowed them.
- 20:29Speaker 2: I mean, she was making a statement. She's been making
- 20:31Speaker 2: a statement since the reunion. I just didn't quite understand
- 20:35Speaker 2: the statement. Her sort of saying like, No one smiled
- 20:39Speaker 2: at me. I don't want to answer any questions. I
- 20:41Speaker 2: wish there had been a little bit more. I wish
- 20:44Speaker 2: I had more understanding of where Garcelle was coming from.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I think Garcelle got what she wanted out of her
- 20:49Speaker 2: four or five years on the show. I think she
- 20:53Speaker 2: could have gotten more out of it if she had stayed.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I thought she was such a great housewife. But yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Do you have a better understanding?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Yes, I do.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I think she was pissed at Sutton.
- 21:07Speaker 6: I think.
- 21:08Speaker 1: And I don't think Sutton was consciously not being the
- 21:12Speaker 1: friend that Garcelle expected her to be.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Sutton Strack does not have the capacity for loyalty. Sutton
- 21:16Speaker 2: Strack does not have the capacity. She's too much of
- 21:18Speaker 2: a narcissist to care about other people enough to, like,
- 21:23Speaker 2: be there for them. Sorry for interrupting.
- 21:24Speaker 1: No, no. I'm just saying, like, I want you to
- 21:27Speaker 1: give your opinion. So now, I mean, I have Sutton
- 21:32Speaker 1: on here. I have been friendly with her. But I
- 21:34Speaker 1: see what you're saying. I think she definitely– really wanted
- 21:38Speaker 1: to be friends with Kyle the way a girl that's
- 21:41Speaker 1: on a squad wants to be best friends with the
- 21:43Speaker 1: head cheerleader and is like, I don't understand why I
- 21:45Speaker 1: was invited to that slumber party. I made everybody brownies.
- 21:48Speaker 1: What's the problem? So I think there was a little
- 21:50Speaker 1: bit of that and that's how Garcelle was perceiving it
- 21:53Speaker 1: when Garcelle had had her back during this whole time
- 21:56Speaker 1: where she was seen as like, you're not supporting women.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And so then when they're sitting at the final reunion-
- 22:02Speaker 1: And they're like, what was your favorite times of– I
- 22:06Speaker 1: believe Garcelle said it was going to Sutton's hometown or something.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 1: And meeting the mother. And then Sutton says it was
- 22:15Speaker 1: reconnecting with Erica.
- 22:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 1: And again, I don't think Sutton consciously thought, oh, I
- 22:20Speaker 1: want to kiss Erica's ass. I just think she made
- 22:22Speaker 1: the mistake in not saying something– catching on that– at
- 22:27Speaker 1: that point, Garcelle throughout the eight hours– Was not happy
- 22:31Speaker 1: and hurting. She knew she wasn't happy. She talked to
- 22:33Speaker 1: her at the lunch break. That she just should have said,
- 22:36Speaker 1: I think if she would have said that, I think
- 22:39Speaker 1: she would have taken the photo.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:40Speaker 1: She may have still left the show.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 1: But I don't think it would have been this like abrupt,
- 22:45Speaker 1: like I'm basically quitting and, you know, I'm taking my stapler.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Her look was incredible.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Incredible. They all looked beautiful, I thought.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Okay. What Kyle thinks she's doing is untenable. Like I am.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Let's talk about the Morgan.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Yes. So let's, so what did you think? Because I
- 23:03Speaker 1: haven't really talked about that. And to fill people in,
- 23:06Speaker 1: we finally, Andy finally tries to get her to talk
- 23:10Speaker 1: about her relationship with Morgan. And she didn't. And Kathy's
- 23:15Speaker 1: like laughing. It was so weird.
- 23:17Speaker 2: She says she won't talk about Morgan because Morgan doesn't
- 23:20Speaker 2: like it. And she's protecting Morgan the way that she
- 23:22Speaker 2: would protect her children. And it's like, No, you're fucking not.
- 23:25Speaker 2: All of your daughters have been on that show a lot. Also,
- 23:27Speaker 2: she's not a fucking child. She's the person that you're dating.
- 23:31Speaker 2: You're on a reality show. That's your fucking job. And
- 23:34Speaker 2: if you wanted to do light domestic comedy, you should
- 23:37Speaker 2: have pretended to stay with Mauricio. There's nothing left on
- 23:40Speaker 2: that show. And that relationship is like a cool, juicy,
- 23:45Speaker 2: interesting thing. And her believing that she can have that
- 23:48Speaker 2: not be part of the show and she can continue
- 23:50Speaker 2: to be the center of that show.
- 23:52Speaker 1: And do the sexy music video. Yes. Like, if you
- 23:55Speaker 1: really wanted to keep it secret. you just wouldn't have
- 23:59Speaker 1: done that. You would have considered, continued to like dress
- 24:03Speaker 1: like Wayne's World, see her at her shows and just say,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I'm super supportive of her music. And we wouldn't have
- 24:09Speaker 1: really had a right to continue the rumors. You obviously
- 24:13Speaker 1: wanted the rumors out there because you wanted the press
- 24:16Speaker 1: or that Morgan wanted the press or maybe at the
- 24:18Speaker 1: time you were ready to come out and then you
- 24:20Speaker 1: sort of changed your mind. I don't know.
- 24:22Speaker 2: I think some of it is about firing back at Mauricio,
- 24:26Speaker 2: you know, is sort of like, look at me, I
- 24:28Speaker 2: can be doing this too. Well, then fucking do it.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Andy Cohen is our greatest journalist. And like him sort
- 24:35Speaker 2: of like pushing back at her about like, this has
- 24:37Speaker 2: benefited Morgan, you know.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I really respect it and appreciate it.
- 24:43Speaker 1: It's like the way Matt Rife, the comedian, said like,
- 24:46Speaker 1: I don't want these girl fans that think I'm hot.
- 24:51Speaker 1: I want to be respected by guys. Whatever, however you
- 24:54Speaker 1: kind of said that. It's like never shit on any
- 24:56Speaker 1: of your audience members. And I kind of feel like
- 24:58Speaker 1: she had that moment too. Like I don't want to
- 25:00Speaker 1: be the poster child for lesbian country delight that a
- 25:05Speaker 1: middle-aged woman average you know demographic of a housewife bravo
- 25:09Speaker 1: fan loves and it's like well too fucking bad people
- 25:12Speaker 1: are go women did find your your music they are
- 25:15Speaker 1: going to your shows also like she's like well now
- 25:18Speaker 1: i've got it so now i don't want to give
- 25:19Speaker 1: you any more.
- 25:20Speaker 2: No like it's it's really frustrating and not acknowledging the
- 25:24Speaker 2: the lay of lands and also but just like for
- 25:26Speaker 2: the structure of the show dorit has given us what
- 25:29Speaker 2: she can for a whole season good for her Erica
- 25:31Speaker 2: Jane gave us her goddamn life. I mean, picking on
- 25:34Speaker 2: Erica Jane was the show for three to four seasons.
- 25:38Speaker 2: And like Sutton's little cat sweater dates are not going
- 25:42Speaker 2: to give us enough fodder for a season. And Bose's
- 25:46Speaker 2: fake fertility journey is not going to either.
- 25:49Speaker 1: What did you hear about her new show with Jimmy Fallon?
- 25:52Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 25:52Speaker 1: So Jimmy Fallon.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Oh, yes, they're doing like marketing Shark Tank, right?
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yes. I mean, I personally think. Who cares?
- 26:00Speaker 2: Who cares?
- 26:00Speaker 1: I feel like those things are too inside baseball. There's
- 26:03Speaker 1: been shows about comedy, about fashion. And if they're too inside,
- 26:07Speaker 1: like there was a fashion one about actually the life
- 26:09Speaker 1: of a buyer for an apartment store, where they judge that.
- 26:12Speaker 1: And I thought it was interesting because I had that
- 26:14Speaker 1: job at one time. But that's why Selling Sunset does well.
- 26:20Speaker 1: We don't need to know that the term I report
- 26:22Speaker 1: came back suspicious. Wear a tiny skirt and walk around
- 26:29Speaker 1: an infinity pool that you're about to fall in. So
- 26:33Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know that I need to go
- 26:35Speaker 1: through like, oh my God, this was the wrong font
- 26:37Speaker 1: for the brand.
- 26:38Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 26:38Speaker 1: But he likes Bose because Bose has had a legit
- 26:42Speaker 1: career in marketing, I guess. So she's got that, which
- 26:46Speaker 1: one season you're already on a regular show, I think
- 26:49Speaker 1: could piss off people.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Bose is great. I just need to understand what Warfare
- 26:54Speaker 2: next season is going to look like.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I know what it is going to look like and
- 26:58Speaker 1: I'll tell you right now. All right. It's already rumbling.
- 27:02Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:03Speaker 1: That there are some rumors about Bose as not being
- 27:06Speaker 1: that great of a corporate executive supporter of women and
- 27:11Speaker 1: women of color. Oh. So there's disgruntled people.
- 27:16Speaker 2: How much do I want Garcelle around for that? That's
- 27:18Speaker 2: what makes me so sad.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I know.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Because, like, Garcelle, the thing that she really can do.
- 27:22Speaker 1: And also, that's just rumors, that's just alleged, whatever. But,
- 27:25Speaker 1: you know, they're always going to try to find something
- 27:26Speaker 1: the next season if you're too beloved and Rose is beloved.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Garcelle was really smart, but also understood that part of
- 27:34Speaker 2: the job is stirring the shit. It was the skill
- 27:38Speaker 2: level that Lisa Rinna and Eileen Davidson brought, but from
- 27:41Speaker 2: a different perspective.
- 27:43Speaker 6: And.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I loved it on the show and I'm going to
- 27:46Speaker 2: miss it so much.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Well, what did you think about the line of where
- 27:51Speaker 1: Dorit said, it's not like you're living like the Queen
- 27:54Speaker 1: of Sheba. You live on a fucking main road.
- 27:57Speaker 2: My girl has fucking pulled it out this season left
- 28:00Speaker 2: and right. You live on a main road. No, I
- 28:03Speaker 2: called you a fucking cunt. And also understanding that shiving
- 28:08Speaker 2: Camille in front of everyone was the right answer. Shiving,
- 28:11Speaker 2: oh my God. Don't go for one of the main
- 28:13Speaker 2: girls who are there. Understand that she is disposable. Sutton's
- 28:18Speaker 2: comments about her not being rich enough were so gross
- 28:22Speaker 2: and distasteful. Sutton's money just comes from fucking Christian. She
- 28:26Speaker 2: doesn't know where that money comes from and she spent
- 28:28Speaker 2: three fucking seasons yelling at Erica and about how ill-gotten
- 28:32Speaker 2: her gains were. Sutton really gets on my nerves, which
- 28:37Speaker 2: is probably part of her job, but Dorit did it.
- 28:41Speaker 2: And I just feel like if we.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Put- But that's why Dorit, that's why- Sutton, regardless of
- 28:46Speaker 1: not having a super strong ally in Garcelle and why
- 28:51Speaker 1: she probably was smart enough to realize, no, I need
- 28:54Speaker 1: to be close to the other women too. And she
- 28:57Speaker 1: is interesting to watch. She is an interesting personality. We
- 29:00Speaker 1: don't want to see her go.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Also, anything that gets Jennifer back, like Jennifer cannot hold storylines.
- 29:08Speaker 6: Sutton!
- 29:08Speaker 1: Hi, Sutton!
- 29:10Speaker 2: But she is so wonderful.
- 29:12Speaker 1: She's really fun, and I love her commentary. Like, when
- 29:15Speaker 1: she analyzes what's going on in the group, it's sensitive,
- 29:19Speaker 1: it's clever, and it's funny.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And it's like a new perspective. So I like it.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I think she'll be smart. I don't know that she
- 29:26Speaker 1: wants to become a regular.
- 29:27Speaker 2: She might just want to.
- 29:28Speaker 1: But so someone, you know, I saw videos of someone
- 29:32Speaker 1: going by, you know, the main road house.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:36Speaker 1: But then also someone went all through the roads to
- 29:38Speaker 1: get to Doritos and Encino. And it's the opposite of
- 29:41Speaker 1: a main road. It's many, many, many, many, many, many,
- 29:44Speaker 1: many streets in. And then the person is like, wow,
- 29:47Speaker 1: this is really tucked away for someone to rob at
- 29:51Speaker 1: 10 at night. Who knows? Who knows? It's all interesting.
- 29:58Speaker 1: I don't think we will ever know the truth to
- 30:00Speaker 1: that one except what was presented to us in that
- 30:03Speaker 1: random robbers came to that house because it's a beautiful
- 30:06Speaker 1: house and they broke in to grab the bags.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Anyway, so she's had a great Easter. Garcelle, she posted
- 30:17Speaker 1: with her son and granddaughter and her other son and
- 30:21Speaker 1: You know, she's got– it'll be fine. It'll be good. Okay.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I went to a fun thing. I went to Vanderpump Villa.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Oh, very cool.
- 30:31Speaker 1: That's Stassi. So this is on Hulu. Uh-huh. And it's–
- 30:36Speaker 1: she has like a villa that people come and what
- 30:39Speaker 1: goes on with the people that work there.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 1: But the second season is Stassi from Vanderpump Rules and
- 30:45Speaker 1: her husband, Beau, and their two kids live there. But
- 30:49Speaker 1: then– Other people come guess and stuff.
- 30:52Speaker 2: This is south of France, right?
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yes. I think it's in France. Yes.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And then... So this was a really nice luncheon that
- 31:00Speaker 1: I went to. So that was fun.
- 31:02Speaker 2: That's lovely. So Andy Cohen has no part of this.
- 31:05Speaker 1: No, this is Hulu.
- 31:07Speaker 2: It makes me happy that Lisa was able to take
- 31:09Speaker 2: her brand and go somewhere else. I'm sorry that I...
- 31:13Speaker 2: I should probably watch that show because I kind of
- 31:15Speaker 2: miss Lisa and Ken.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Banner Pump Rules is coming back with an all new cast.
- 31:19Speaker 5: So.
- 31:21Speaker 1: like nobody is left over. You know, which is kind
- 31:24Speaker 1: of like Real Houses of New York. And then you
- 31:27Speaker 1: have Real Houses of Atlanta where it's like two or
- 31:31Speaker 1: three oldies and then like four new. So it's like,
- 31:34Speaker 1: it's a whole thing, but we'll see.
- 31:35Speaker 2: I'm just getting to see how Gen Z does, you know, hot, drunken,
- 31:40Speaker 2: slutty fighting. You know, I would like a little energy
- 31:44Speaker 2: from that. Yeah, you're right. It would be a Gen
- 31:46Speaker 2: Z generation.
- 31:47Speaker 1: So then I went to Paris Hilton being honored at
- 31:50Speaker 1: LA Magazine and I was just next to Heather Dubrow.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And so my friend took a photo and was like,
- 31:54Speaker 1: the Heathers were on the red carpet.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I think Heather is such a great talent.
- 31:58Speaker 1: She looks really good. Yeah. Her hair is looking good.
- 32:01Speaker 1: She's always classy.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:03Speaker 1: She looked great. Paris was fabulous at this event. She
- 32:07Speaker 1: was lovely. She spoke at the end. And I have
- 32:10Speaker 1: some exciting news, which I don't know if you might
- 32:13Speaker 1: know it, but for me, She announced her book is
- 32:17Speaker 1: becoming a series.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Paris's book, which I really loved, which was about her childhood,
- 32:24Speaker 1: the aughts, the antics, whatever. And of course, you could
- 32:27Speaker 1: add anything that wasn't in that book. She didn't say
- 32:30Speaker 1: who's playing her.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:31Speaker 1: She didn't say what network, but she said it's the
- 32:35Speaker 1: biggest and the one you'd want. So I assume it's Netflix.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And I think it's a great idea.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Well, it's just such a fun world to go back to. Yes.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Things are... There's so much anger and uncertainty right now.
- 32:48Speaker 2: And I think going back to a time that was
- 32:50Speaker 2: just like, well, there was also such a rich environment
- 32:54Speaker 2: of like young, exciting celebs who were like all in
- 32:58Speaker 2: each other's lives.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Did you ever watch American Woman, Kyle's series?
- 33:02Speaker 1: Just a little bit. And I was into it. I
- 33:04Speaker 1: just think for, you know what, you know, for whatever reasons,
- 33:07Speaker 1: things just, if they don't, Or immediately become a hit
- 33:11Speaker 1: and just don't continue.
- 33:12Speaker 2: It's really hard for comedies in a world of like
- 33:14Speaker 2: eight to ten episodes. Like things don't really land.
- 33:17Speaker 1: But I think something like this.
- 33:18Speaker 5: Yes.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Where the audience, it's in the past, but it's not
- 33:22Speaker 1: so far in the past that you could have fun
- 33:24Speaker 1: with it. Like the reason like the OJ shows, the
- 33:27Speaker 1: Menendez shows, like all that stuff from the 90s, 2000s.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I think people are, like, craving it. And I think
- 33:33Speaker 1: you can have a lot of fun with this series
- 33:35Speaker 1: in that it doesn't have to be completely your life.
- 33:37Speaker 1: They could take three boyfriends and make them one boyfriend
- 33:39Speaker 1: for three seasons. It doesn't have to be that. But
- 33:42Speaker 1: it's Paris doing this stuff.
- 33:44Speaker 2: There were, like, three separate Greek shipping heirs, I think.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:47Speaker 1: She had lots and lots of guys and, you know, arrangement.
- 33:50Speaker 1: And then, you know, then she went away for a while.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I remember I ran in when we were doing Chelsea Lately, like,
- 33:55Speaker 1: Kathy Hilton stuff. Was talking to me and I'm like,
- 33:58Speaker 1: what is Paris up to? Because it seemed like the
- 33:59Speaker 1: Kardashians had taken her spot. And she's like, she is doing,
- 34:03Speaker 1: she's got all these clothing lines and China loves her
- 34:06Speaker 1: and Japan loves her. So she also is doing her
- 34:09Speaker 1: 30th fragrance.
- 34:11Speaker 2: If I were doing this show.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I would make it.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Maybe they'll call you.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I would make it all about the girl who organizes
- 34:19Speaker 2: her closets becoming, like, eclipsing her. Like, I would make
- 34:23Speaker 2: it a little all about Eve.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Well, that could be one season.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Like there could be several players and things like that.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And then you have the Faye Resnick who was friends
- 34:35Speaker 1: with both Chris and Kathy Hilton. Yeah. And was the
- 34:39Speaker 1: interior designer for Kathy Hilton. And then when the Kardashians
- 34:43Speaker 1: took off, she felt she needed to have loyalty to
- 34:47Speaker 1: Kathy Hilton. Yes. Until one day she called Chris Jenner
- 34:50Speaker 1: and Chris Jenner said, all right, come over. And they
- 34:53Speaker 1: made up and now they're all friends again. And so
- 34:57Speaker 1: are Paris and Kim. It's very juicy and interesting.
- 35:00Speaker 2: I know a lot of Faye Resnick's. Would this be
- 35:02Speaker 2: the morally corrupt Faye Resnick?
- 35:03Speaker 1: Yes, it is. With the perfect face and body who's
- 35:06Speaker 1: still stunning today.
- 35:08Speaker 2: She hasn't shown up in so long. And I just
- 35:11Speaker 2: I miss A Real Housewives of Beverly Hills where Faye
- 35:13Speaker 2: Resnick shows up because you're like, It's going to be
- 35:15Speaker 2: a good episode. She's never going to shift higher than
- 35:18Speaker 2: third gear, but she will make shit happen.
- 35:20Speaker 1: And the thing is, the reason why she's such good
- 35:22Speaker 1: friends with Kyle, Kathy Hilton and Kris Jenner is she
- 35:26Speaker 1: I've hung out with her. She really is a very happy,
- 35:30Speaker 1: good time.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Fun friend. And so and interesting. So it's like, yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 1: that's the friend you want to keep around.
- 35:36Speaker 2: She's married to an athlete.
- 35:38Speaker 1: No, she had her husband now. He's. Chris Jenner married them.
- 35:44Speaker 1: He's good looking. He's just like, I think he might
- 35:47Speaker 1: just be a businessman or something. But yeah, they've been
- 35:50Speaker 1: married a while now. And like, she's a grandma. Like
- 35:53Speaker 1: she has a daughter who's like Chloe's age. So she's
- 35:55Speaker 1: got like a five-year-old grandchild and like, He's loving life,
- 35:59Speaker 1: looking great. Okay, so The Valley.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Premiered.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I want to hear... Now, you didn't watch it last season,
- 36:08Speaker 1: but I gave you an assignment to watch it just
- 36:10Speaker 1: so we could discuss.
- 36:11Speaker 2: So the thing is, is my experience of Vanderpump Rules
- 36:14Speaker 2: is just the backdoor pilot from, like, season three of
- 36:17Speaker 2: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. But, like, I was immediately like,
- 36:21Speaker 2: this show is amazing. And, like, I do think that Jack's... Like,
- 36:26Speaker 2: when he was... hot bartender just fucking everything that he
- 36:29Speaker 2: could and making all trouble. He was so hot and
- 36:31Speaker 2: compelling to me. But him as 45-year-old old goat still
- 36:36Speaker 2: doing the same thing is just as hot to me.
- 36:38Speaker 2: And I was a little bit, the extent to which
- 36:43Speaker 2: some of the play pieces within this game are four-year-olds
- 36:49Speaker 2: made me feel- Actual four-year-olds. Actual four-year-olds. made me feel
- 36:53Speaker 2: a little uncomfortable. And also, it's weird.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Oh, because we are watching Divorce in Custody and things
- 36:59Speaker 1: like that.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Yes, and like, well, what if I decide I want
- 37:01Speaker 2: to go to Newport Beach?
- 37:03Speaker 1: Oh, that whole thing. I did a video right after
- 37:07Speaker 1: that a lot of people resonated with where I was like,
- 37:10Speaker 1: the thing that bothered me about it, and I'll just
- 37:12Speaker 1: explain that part just because you brought it up. There's
- 37:13Speaker 1: this guy, Jesse, and he's a realtor, and he's got
- 37:15Speaker 1: a wife named Michelle, and they broke up at the
- 37:17Speaker 1: end of last season, and they are going through divorce,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and they have a four-year-old daughter. And she says, she
- 37:22Speaker 1: goes up to him at Brittany's event and she goes, anyway,
- 37:25Speaker 1: so I talked to this woman who helps consult with
- 37:28Speaker 1: LA schools or whatever the daughter's name is. And he goes,
- 37:31Speaker 1: why would you do that without me? I'm like, she
- 37:33Speaker 1: didn't enroll the kid without you. She just said, hey,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I'm talking to somebody. And like, we could, like, she
- 37:38Speaker 1: was being, to me, I thought she wasn't trying to
- 37:41Speaker 1: usurp his power. Okay.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And then he's like, I don't know that I even
- 37:44Speaker 1: want her to go to school in LA. Maybe she'll
- 37:45Speaker 1: go to school in Orange County because he's dating this
- 37:47Speaker 1: girl in Orange County. And the first, I could feel
- 37:51Speaker 1: her anxiety as a mom with a four-year-old daughter where
- 37:55Speaker 1: you're like, we don't get along. But moving to a
- 37:59Speaker 1: whole other county that would be two hours away and
- 38:01Speaker 1: possibly not being in my daughter's life on a daily
- 38:04Speaker 1: basis or having to move was never what I thought
- 38:07Speaker 1: I'd be at. And it's like– and then he goes,
- 38:08Speaker 1: why are you getting– you're getting aggressive. And then they
- 38:11Speaker 1: ask him and he's like– they're like, are you really
- 38:12Speaker 1: thinking about it? He's like, no, let the chaos begin.
- 38:14Speaker 1: And I was like, to see– a guy, and the
- 38:17Speaker 1: comments under there were like, it's always the father that
- 38:20Speaker 1: didn't watch the kid while you took a shower for
- 38:23Speaker 1: 10 minutes that then in the divorce is fighting for 50-50.
- 38:27Speaker 1: It just was triggering that he was showing his cards
- 38:29Speaker 1: to the producer. And I know women do this to men, too.
- 38:33Speaker 1: And it's really unfair. It sucks. And that's why people
- 38:37Speaker 1: choose to have maybe children on their own or whatever,
- 38:39Speaker 1: because you can't move to different counties when you feel
- 38:41Speaker 1: like it if you're sharing custody. But that would make
- 38:44Speaker 1: me crazy. OK, so continue what your other thoughts are.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Well, and also it's weird to go into a show
- 38:48Speaker 2: like this not knowing the lay of the land because
- 38:51Speaker 2: the woman is her name's Janet.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Janet.
- 38:55Speaker 1: So let me tell you the history of Janet.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 38:57Speaker 1: Janet came to L.A. saw Sheena Shea at a party,
- 39:02Speaker 1: became friends with her. The next day, Sheena was like,
- 39:05Speaker 1: we're going to Disneyland. Do you want to come? She came.
- 39:09Speaker 1: They were friends. She was a personal assistant, like executive assistant,
- 39:13Speaker 1: became friends with her and then became part of the
- 39:17Speaker 1: friend group. And so then when casting it, you know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: she did great in the interviews and she's really friends
- 39:23Speaker 1: with them and she has a cute husband and that's
- 39:25Speaker 1: why she's on the show. It's kind of an amazing.
- 39:27Speaker 2: People who incept their way onto Bravo shows It's pretty genius.
- 39:31Speaker 1: It's pretty genius.
- 39:31Speaker 2: But just I hated her so much. Like the question
- 39:37Speaker 2: of fake apologizing and the question of the people who
- 39:41Speaker 2: willed miscarriage upon her. It was like. It's so funny
- 39:45Speaker 2: because from a distance, I'm just like, it's hilarious that
- 39:48Speaker 2: she's like, you're willing miscarriage upon me.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Wait, and let's just explain what that was. So the
- 39:54Speaker 1: way I understood it as, there's this guy, I forgot
- 39:58Speaker 1: his name.
- 39:59Speaker 2: It's a gay guy. Is his name Zach?
- 40:01Speaker 1: Zach.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Zach, and he's very funny.
- 40:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:05Speaker 1: And he came with Brittany when she came on my
- 40:08Speaker 1: show years ago when she was planning her wedding to Jax.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 1: So they go way back. So it's completely appropriate that
- 40:14Speaker 1: he's on the show. All these friendships are real. These
- 40:17Speaker 1: were not cast like- Yeah. You know, so- He's there
- 40:22Speaker 1: and he was really hurt because Janet had an event
- 40:24Speaker 1: last season in like Big Bear, a baby moon. And
- 40:28Speaker 1: she got mad at him and she didn't invite him
- 40:30Speaker 1: or Kristen. And, you know, it's not just not inviting.
- 40:33Speaker 1: It's like now I'm not on camera for three days.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Now I'm not part of something. Now I'm going to
- 40:38Speaker 1: be talked about. And it just really made him mad.
- 40:41Speaker 1: So I guess he went on a podcast or said something. Oh,
- 40:44Speaker 1: he said something to somebody. And then she repeated it, Janet,
- 40:49Speaker 1: on the podcast that she believed that he said, I
- 40:52Speaker 1: don't care what happens with her pregnancy or something. And
- 40:56Speaker 1: by saying, I don't care what happens with her pregnancy,
- 40:58Speaker 1: I believe then she interpreted it as that he was
- 41:00Speaker 1: wishing a miscarriage on her. It was a reach in
- 41:03Speaker 1: my opinion.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't know how concrete that was because
- 41:07Speaker 2: I was wondering, Zach and the other woman who she
- 41:09Speaker 2: was mad at, I forget her name. Kristen, I was like,
- 41:12Speaker 2: maybe these are real terrible people. But it was hilarious
- 41:15Speaker 2: that this woman was like... I was so stressed out
- 41:17Speaker 2: because you said that you hoped I didn't carry my baby.
- 41:20Speaker 1: It was a stretch. And to Kristen, who was actively
- 41:25Speaker 1: trying to get pregnant the last couple of years and
- 41:28Speaker 1: is in her early 40s, so it's a challenge. She
- 41:33Speaker 1: was like, I would never say that. She goes, fine, well,
- 41:35Speaker 1: maybe your friend said it. It was just weird. So
- 41:38Speaker 1: I get all that. How do you feel about– What
- 41:42Speaker 1: we're going to see this season with like– oh, wait.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Who else do you want to talk about?
- 41:45Speaker 2: I want your impression of the woman who is up
- 41:47Speaker 2: top there because her speaking voice is hilarious.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Okay.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Well, they are just– again, a perfect– this is a
- 41:56Speaker 1: perfect cast in my opinion.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Yes.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Because he was like a child star.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 42:00Speaker 1: He was a child actor and still an actor and
- 42:03Speaker 1: he's like a big voiceover actor. She was second runner
- 42:07Speaker 1: up in like Miss America. Wonderful.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Wonderful. Her being like, my body is destroyed now. Hilarious.
- 42:12Speaker 1: But I want to have one more.
- 42:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 42:14Speaker 1: And then it'll be my body. And that he wants
- 42:16Speaker 1: to go to Santa Clarita. And, like, I think, yeah,
- 42:20Speaker 1: I think they're a good addition to the friend group.
- 42:23Speaker 2: People talking about how great Santa Clarita was was really funny.
- 42:26Speaker 1: They really have great editors, and it's really funny. And,
- 42:31Speaker 1: you know, the sad part is... Jackson, the Britney, that
- 42:35Speaker 1: we will watch some ugliness this season.
- 42:38Speaker 2: It's so hard. Like, it's just so different, like, distant
- 42:42Speaker 2: from me, the whole notion of, like, God, I don't
- 42:45Speaker 2: want to be that guy who flies off the handle,
- 42:47Speaker 2: but I have to fly off the handle.
- 42:50Speaker 6: Like.
- 42:50Speaker 1: I just want to say, go back and watch Vanderpump
- 42:54Speaker 1: Rules from the Stassi years and stuff. Like, because there.
- 43:01Speaker 1: There is a scene that is sad and crazy, but people,
- 43:04Speaker 1: you know, are putting it. It comes in my feed.
- 43:07Speaker 1: And it's Jax cheated on Brittany before they were engaged.
- 43:14Speaker 1: But they were like living together, I think. Cheated on
- 43:16Speaker 1: her with this other woman. I don't want to say
- 43:19Speaker 1: her name because there's been a lot of legal stuff.
- 43:20Speaker 1: But she done this other woman. She recorded them, gave
- 43:25Speaker 1: it to one of the other cast members, and they
- 43:28Speaker 1: had the audio of him speaking publicly. Poorly of Britney.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Oh.
- 43:32Speaker 1: And they... So they're all having a party in one
- 43:35Speaker 1: of the apartments. This is how long ago it was.
- 43:37Speaker 1: They're all doing shots for hours with the cameras. The
- 43:40Speaker 1: guys are doing shots, the girls are doing.
- 43:42Speaker 3: And.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Somehow it comes up and they're all drunk and Brittany's like,
- 43:46Speaker 1: I want to hear it. I want to hear it.
- 43:48Speaker 1: And she listens to it. And that's when she's like,
- 43:51Speaker 1: rotten hell, Jax Taylor, rotten hell. And all the girls
- 43:56Speaker 1: are like, you know, getting upset. All the guys go
- 43:59Speaker 1: down the hall to the other guy's apartment.
- 44:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 1: And they're like, oh, shit. And they're left there with
- 44:04Speaker 1: James Kennedy. And he's like, you guys can't, you know,
- 44:07Speaker 1: gang up on him. And Lala's like, are you fucking
- 44:11Speaker 1: kidding me? For once, the girls can be in, like,
- 44:15Speaker 1: control her. And then he goes, the camera work is
- 44:19Speaker 1: so good. And he's like, ah! And he's like running
- 44:21Speaker 1: with his legs. He's kind of skinny. He's running out.
- 44:23Speaker 1: And the girls are all screaming, gathering around her. And
- 44:25Speaker 1: they're all buzzed. And they're all, it's amazing. But then
- 44:30Speaker 1: also I'm like, the thing about where I feel for Brittany,
- 44:34Speaker 1: being that she's been on the show for 15 years.
- 44:36Speaker 1: It's like, it's one, a lot of people get divorced.
- 44:39Speaker 1: A lot of women get divorced. And they look back
- 44:40Speaker 1: and they're like, I should have known that. I should
- 44:43Speaker 1: have known that. The red flag. You literally could have
- 44:46Speaker 1: watched it back.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 44:47Speaker 1: You could have watched it back before you walked down
- 44:50Speaker 1: the aisle. You could have. And maybe not believed when
- 44:53Speaker 1: he's like, I'm a changed man. You were there for
- 44:56Speaker 1: me when my dad died. And for that, I feel
- 44:58Speaker 1: for her because this is her life. This is her livelihood.
- 45:01Speaker 1: There's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube. But
- 45:03Speaker 1: at the same time, like you literally had it in
- 45:06Speaker 1: black and white. You were watching yourself in a movie
- 45:09Speaker 1: like a Black Mirror episode. You could actually have watched it.
- 45:11Speaker 2: But it's also so clear. why they are attracted to
- 45:15Speaker 2: each other, and why they keep going back to each other.
- 45:17Speaker 2: And I do kind of love that.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Yeah, they're not ever going to get back together.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Yes, but, like, they will fuck again.
- 45:26Speaker 1: It sounds like they might, because he keeps insinuating that, like,
- 45:29Speaker 1: she wanted to hook up and stuff like that. And
- 45:31Speaker 1: she's like, oh, my God, Jax.
- 45:32Speaker 4: No, I didn't.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Like, we'll see. But I think that she is officially done.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I think she's at a point of her life as
- 45:40Speaker 1: a mother that she's done.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, you've got a fucking three-year-old, you know? Yeah. And
- 45:43Speaker 2: you've got a... Well, and also they have the podcast together.
- 45:46Speaker 1: No, now they have officially split off the podcast.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 45:49Speaker 1: But while they were separated going this, they were still
- 45:51Speaker 1: like recording together.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Now he has his own and she took over the
- 45:56Speaker 1: one that was already established. Yeah. Every single one of
- 46:00Speaker 1: them has a podcast, which is fine. We all can
- 46:03Speaker 1: have one. Not for everybody. Post Malone had a baby
- 46:06Speaker 1: a couple of years ago and he has filed for
- 46:09Speaker 1: custody and In Utah. And the girl filed in Los Angeles, California.
- 46:16Speaker 1: And apparently people believe because California would require more money
- 46:22Speaker 1: and it's more expensive. But he did it in Utah
- 46:25Speaker 1: because it might favor him or something.
- 46:27Speaker 2: When a celebrity man applies for full custody of their child,
- 46:32Speaker 2: it is clearly in no way about their child support commitments.
- 46:35Speaker 2: It is about their love of playing Polly Pocket with her.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Of course.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Yeah. He wants to do her hair.
- 46:40Speaker 2: He wants to do her hair. He wants to teach
- 46:42Speaker 2: her her letters.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah. No, it is like, it's so transparent. And it's like, dude, like,
- 46:49Speaker 1: what are you going to say? That she spends too
- 46:51Speaker 1: much time at Pilates? You are a musician on the road. Like,
- 46:56Speaker 1: I get that you're pissed or whatever, but come on.
- 47:01Speaker 2: You want to know who the real assholes are here.
- 47:05Speaker 2: It's Post Malone's attorneys. Because Post Malone is famous for
- 47:09Speaker 2: having face tattoos. There is not a judge on this
- 47:12Speaker 2: goddamn planet, especially not in fucking Utah, who's gonna give
- 47:16Speaker 2: him full custody. It's just... Also, like, honestly, it's not fair,
- 47:22Speaker 2: but a woman being denied any level of custody really requires...
- 47:26Speaker 2: a pretty significant level of dereliction of responsibility. It's not
- 47:31Speaker 2: going to happen, but his lawyers are going to be
- 47:33Speaker 2: able to bill him for hundreds of hours for this.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I will say it can happen sometimes when people are
- 47:38Speaker 1: that rich and powerful. It really can, and that's what's
- 47:40Speaker 1: really scary. So who knows? Hopefully they'll come to their
- 47:44Speaker 1: senses and figure out something that's amicable.
- 47:45Speaker 2: But also we need to understand the fucking rules. If
- 47:47Speaker 2: you have a child with a professional athlete, you get
- 47:50Speaker 2: money for 18 years.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Right. We all just— We all remember the Jamie Foxx song. Yes. Um, yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 1: So anyway, love Post Malone's music, find him to be
- 48:02Speaker 1: a delight. We don't know all the moving parts. We
- 48:06Speaker 1: don't know why he feels that this is to be,
- 48:08Speaker 1: but it's a nightmare. New love, Liz Hurley, beautiful model actress,
- 48:16Speaker 1: was dating Hugh Grant when he picked up Desiree, the streetwalker.
- 48:20Speaker 2: But is still his best friend now.
- 48:22Speaker 1: They're still friendly.
- 48:23Speaker 2: They're still best.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Oh, best friends, really?
- 48:26Speaker 2: She on Graham Norton. Graham Norton.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:29Speaker 2: After Andy Cohen, our second greatest journalist.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 48:32Speaker 2: She said they're best friends and they talk to each
- 48:33Speaker 2: other every day, but also like they could never get
- 48:35Speaker 2: back together. And I really love that.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Well, now she's with Billy Ray. Her son is- A model.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I believe he's out gay. He has the most gorgeous
- 48:46Speaker 1: face I've ever seen.
- 48:47Speaker 2: He's luminously beautiful. That's a child who should be a model.
- 48:51Speaker 1: There was one time early on where she was seen, like,
- 48:55Speaker 1: embracing him or kissing him. And people were like, oh,
- 48:58Speaker 1: my God, who's this, like, young, hot guy? It was
- 49:00Speaker 1: her son.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:01Speaker 1: But they're very, very close. Anyway, she posted them together
- 49:06Speaker 1: on Easter. He has bunny ears on. They're like, it
- 49:10Speaker 1: looks like they're at like a farm. Her friends were
- 49:13Speaker 1: hearting it. The son hearted it. So they seem to
- 49:16Speaker 1: like him. It's a weird match, but who knows? It is,
- 49:20Speaker 1: but also- It's slim pickings after 50 people.
- 49:22Speaker 2: Yes, and also once you've been in celebrity world for
- 49:25Speaker 2: that long, you're all the same thing, and you're all
- 49:27Speaker 2: just cruising around in the same world. And I also think, yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 2: it's like Elizabeth Hurley has already- married the, like, responsible
- 49:38Speaker 2: businessman who will take care of the children for you.
- 49:41Speaker 1: That's who she had these kids with.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Yes. And now, like, I think it is time to
- 49:44Speaker 2: cruise along. You know, do this for two or three years.
- 49:47Speaker 1: Have fun with it.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Hang out with Miley. I know. I just, I don't.
- 49:52Speaker 1: You know the juice behind the mom?
- 49:55Speaker 4: What?
- 49:55Speaker 1: Okay, so Miley's mom married this guy who was dating
- 50:00Speaker 1: Miley's sister, Noah.
- 50:03Speaker 2: No, really?
- 50:03Speaker 1: For a while before then they got together.
- 50:07Speaker 2: That is.
- 50:07Speaker 1: And then he married. And that's why I want to
- 50:10Speaker 1: say Trace, Cyrus, and Noah didn't go to the wedding
- 50:14Speaker 1: of the mother, but Miley went. So I'm curious how
- 50:17Speaker 1: Miley will like Liz Hurley. I don't know what there
- 50:20Speaker 1: isn't to like. So I think they'd get along.
- 50:22Speaker 2: Liz Hurley will know how to manage her. And I
- 50:25Speaker 2: just love, there's like a certain set of the supermodels
- 50:27Speaker 2: from the 90s who just have been the most beautiful
- 50:31Speaker 2: and the richest ever. And they're never going to do
- 50:33Speaker 2: anything that they don't want to do. And it makes
- 50:36Speaker 2: me so happy.
- 50:36Speaker 1: I love it. Okay. Also, according to the Neighborhood Talk,
- 50:41Speaker 1: which is an Instagram and news source, whatever, that I follow,
- 50:46Speaker 1: allegedly they're looking to redo The Bodyguard, which was Whitney
- 50:51Speaker 1: Houston and Kevin Costner, where he was actually her bodyguard.
- 50:54Speaker 1: and she was a version of herself, and they fall
- 50:57Speaker 1: in love. And, you know, it was that song, and
- 51:02Speaker 1: we all loved it. And they've talked about redoing this
- 51:05Speaker 1: many times with other up-and-coming singers, Taylor Swift, whatever. And
- 51:09Speaker 1: now they're saying the talk is to maybe make it
- 51:12Speaker 1: Kim Kardashian, which it wouldn't have to be a musical.
- 51:15Speaker 1: It wouldn't have to be a singing thing. The storyline
- 51:19Speaker 1: of a big star falling in love with her bodyguard
- 51:23Speaker 1: Is great. And I think it can be many versions
- 51:26Speaker 1: of it.
- 51:27Speaker 2: We love making shitty colorless remakes of movies that were
- 51:31Speaker 2: good before. We've been doing it a lot over the
- 51:33Speaker 2: last 20 years. And I wouldn't be surprised if they
- 51:35Speaker 2: tried to do it. I think that her publicists are
- 51:38Speaker 2: the hardest working people in Hollywood. And I would love
- 51:41Speaker 2: to be in on that pitch meeting. Like the wonderful
- 51:43Speaker 2: thing about a story like this is she doesn't have
- 51:45Speaker 2: to lift a finger. She doesn't have to go to
- 51:47Speaker 2: her law school classes. Like they just send this out
- 51:50Speaker 2: and we talk about it. But I literally don't think
- 51:53Speaker 2: you can make a remake of The Bodyguard after Whitney
- 51:57Speaker 2: Houston and not have it be a singer who sings
- 52:00Speaker 2: an iconic song. I agree.
- 52:02Speaker 1: I want to see it a singer. It doesn't have
- 52:04Speaker 1: to be a famous singer, though. It could just be
- 52:07Speaker 1: someone who– like an up-and-coming singer and we just sort
- 52:10Speaker 1: of take– A little bit of Adele's life, like maybe
- 52:13Speaker 1: she's a single mom.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:14Speaker 1: A little bit of a Taylor Swift thing with young
- 52:17Speaker 1: kids following her. Like you could create a fake person
- 52:20Speaker 1: and then just put a girl that actually can act
- 52:23Speaker 1: and sing that's maybe not at the level of like
- 52:26Speaker 1: an Adele.
- 52:27Speaker 2: It's sort of like A Star is Born. Like at
- 52:29Speaker 2: this point in time, A Star is Born has been.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Done four times, I think.
- 52:33Speaker 4: Yes.
- 52:33Speaker 2: But like it's been Judy and then Barbara and then
- 52:36Speaker 2: Lady Gaga. It has to be a singer of that level.
- 52:39Speaker 2: adele i think is a really brilliant idea i one
- 52:43Speaker 2: of the things that makes me saddest in show business
- 52:45Speaker 2: is that adele will never be hard up enough for
- 52:47Speaker 2: money that she will host a game show and i
- 52:50Speaker 2: think adele has the skill set where she can i
- 52:53Speaker 2: truly think the magic of still having the fat girl
- 52:55Speaker 2: inside but having the body that she always dreamed of
- 52:59Speaker 2: is perfect i love her so much but like i
- 53:03Speaker 2: want to like I want to see Adele act.
- 53:06Speaker 1: She has the most gorgeous face.
- 53:08Speaker 2: She has the most gorgeous face. And also, she's a
- 53:10Speaker 2: real person.
- 53:11Speaker 1: And she's funny. She talks on stage. She definitely.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Yes, if you find the right role for her. If
- 53:16Speaker 2: you find something that is sculpted and built for her,
- 53:20Speaker 2: she could be the loveliest.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Now, since you brought it up, the fat girl inside.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Being that a lot of people are now thin and
- 53:31Speaker 1: have the ability to be thin pretty easily.
- 53:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Um, do you think that does haunt people? Like, how
- 53:38Speaker 1: do you feel? Where do you think Kelly Clarkson is
- 53:42Speaker 1: in her journey of one time being a curvier girl
- 53:45Speaker 1: and now is like a size four or two?
- 53:48Speaker 2: I think there's something when people have had to always
- 53:52Speaker 2: have this thing in their brain yelling at them to
- 53:56Speaker 2: have that thing removed and just be able to live
- 53:58Speaker 2: their life on other terms, I think is really liberating
- 54:02Speaker 2: for them.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Fabulous. I agree.
- 54:04Speaker 2: And so I like that there are, you know, I
- 54:07Speaker 2: have a complex relationship with weight and with my own weight.
- 54:10Speaker 2: And there are people who, you know, I see do
- 54:14Speaker 2: it and I'm like, but I love them so much for,
- 54:17Speaker 2: for who they were before. But like, I don't know,
- 54:20Speaker 2: like to me, Adele is someone who just lives in
- 54:25Speaker 2: her own honesty and like, I have so much respect
- 54:29Speaker 2: for that.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Now, Lizzo was someone that was really known for body
- 54:34Speaker 1: positivity and really was like the leader of that time.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I had predicted that she, the minute I heard about Ozempic,
- 54:42Speaker 1: I'm like, watch, Lizzo's going to get on it. I
- 54:45Speaker 1: just could tell her personality. She would want to explore that.
- 54:50Speaker 1: She's gorgeous no matter what size she is. She's talented
- 54:53Speaker 1: no matter what size. She came in some heat because
- 54:56Speaker 1: she had these dancers suing her.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:58Speaker 1: I guess that is a way. I guess they dropped
- 55:01Speaker 1: out when she, like, they tried to feel the heat
- 55:04Speaker 1: that maybe they didn't have the evidence. And now she's
- 55:07Speaker 1: thin or thinner. I mean, whatever. She's lost a lot
- 55:11Speaker 1: of weight. She looks great. And it's like people hated
- 55:15Speaker 1: her so much that she was confident and curvy. And
- 55:18Speaker 1: now a different group of people hate her for abandoning
- 55:23Speaker 1: They see her as abandoning the confident and curvy. It's like,
- 55:26Speaker 1: this chick just can't do anything right in the eyes
- 55:29Speaker 1: of certain people.
- 55:29Speaker 2: A couple of things. The first one is Roxane Gay,
- 55:33Speaker 2: I believe, got weight loss surgery and she was like,
- 55:38Speaker 2: don't fucking talk to me.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Who's Roxane Gay?
- 55:39Speaker 2: Roxane Gay is a really well-known writer. She wrote Bad Feminist.
- 55:43Speaker 2: She's really, really smart and great. And she is like
- 55:47Speaker 2: 6'2 and large. Okay. And she was basically like, you
- 55:51Speaker 2: don't have to go through, like, don't fucking talk to
- 55:54Speaker 2: me about this. This is not about me not respecting
- 55:59Speaker 2: fatness or, you know, believing that fat people should have
- 56:02Speaker 2: more rights. It's just trying to like exist in the
- 56:04Speaker 2: world a little more easily in a world that isn't
- 56:07Speaker 2: built for me. But I also, when I worked for
- 56:10Speaker 2: Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, we were in a
- 56:14Speaker 2: meeting and there were like guys talking about Chris Rock's
- 56:18Speaker 2: hair documentary and sort of like a bunch of men
- 56:21Speaker 2: talking about how dumb and terrible it was that black
- 56:25Speaker 2: women processed their hair because they should be able to
- 56:27Speaker 2: love their natural hair and they left the room and
- 56:31Speaker 2: all that was left in the room after that was
- 56:32Speaker 2: me and black women who were really fucking annoyed with
- 56:36Speaker 2: people having opinions about what they should be doing with
- 56:39Speaker 2: their hair and what they said to me was basically
- 56:41Speaker 2: like I do not have control over my hair until
- 56:44Speaker 2: I have control of it under all circumstances where I
- 56:47Speaker 2: am able to make these choices and so as a
- 56:50Speaker 2: fat person I think people being able to have more
- 56:55Speaker 2: control over that. It is hard that it is so
- 56:58Speaker 2: financially discriminatory. You know, it is really hard that it
- 57:01Speaker 2: is something that only some people have access to. And
- 57:07Speaker 2: I hope it doesn't push back our conversations about being
- 57:10Speaker 2: able to accept more people under the terms that the
- 57:13Speaker 2: Lord made them. But I think just behaving and nothing
- 57:18Speaker 2: makes me madder. than when wealthy people lose weight and
- 57:22Speaker 2: then talk shit about what a busted and weak and
- 57:26Speaker 2: pathetic person they were back when they were fat. It's like,
- 57:31Speaker 2: no one would choose to be extremely fat. It is
- 57:34Speaker 2: not a result of personal weakness, it is a result
- 57:36Speaker 2: of bodies being different.
- 57:38Speaker 1: And a lot of people that struggle with their weights
- 57:41Speaker 1: had what they called an almond mom. Do you understand
- 57:44Speaker 1: what an almond mom is?
- 57:45Speaker 2: Of course I understand what an almond mom is.
- 57:46Speaker 1: I don't know that everybody does. It's really fascinating.
- 57:50Speaker 2: But you, of course, know that my two favorite articles
- 57:53Speaker 2: in women's magazines are Write Jeans for Your Body Type.
- 57:56Speaker 2: And how to healthfully snack for the holidays. And, you know.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Handful of almonds.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Instead of a latke, have five almonds. Yes. Instead of
- 58:05Speaker 2: a Christmas cookie, have a cube of cheese. Yeah.
- 58:09Speaker 1: And all the things that, like, you know, your mom
- 58:11Speaker 1: said to you that then screwed you up. And then
- 58:15Speaker 1: you might have been a different parent to your child
- 58:17Speaker 1: and probably not been enough of that. And then, like,
- 58:20Speaker 1: there's people that– there's almond grandmothers that then produced a
- 58:24Speaker 1: mom that then maybe– was like, have whatever you want
- 58:28Speaker 1: to their daughter. And then that daughter's like, I wish
- 58:30Speaker 1: you would have taught me how to eat better. Like,
- 58:32Speaker 1: it's just a constant cycle.
- 58:34Speaker 2: It's hard. Trying to not communicate your own damage to
- 58:38Speaker 2: the person you are raising is really, really hard.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:42Speaker 2: And also understanding the politicization of the science around these things.
- 58:48Speaker 2: It's like, when we were young... people were like, be healthy,
- 58:53Speaker 2: eat nothing but white rice. You know?
- 58:57Speaker 1: And I remember, yeah, white rice. And then just like,
- 58:58Speaker 1: I was like, I would have like a baked potato
- 59:00Speaker 1: for dinner, like, or all the fat free cookies and
- 59:03Speaker 1: the sugar free and all that crap. Now it's like, no,
- 59:05Speaker 1: just eat like real food. And you know, it's just crazy.
- 59:09Speaker 1: But wait, I want to ask because people are going
- 59:11Speaker 1: to kill me if I don't ask. You were on Jeopardy.
- 59:14Speaker 2: So I just try out for Jeopardy every year since
- 59:17Speaker 2: they've really since they've had the at home thing. But
- 59:21Speaker 2: I always say that I'm from Los Angeles. I probably
- 59:23Speaker 2: would have gotten on sooner if I said I was
- 59:25Speaker 2: from the little hometown that I'm from. Oh. But I
- 59:27Speaker 2: always wanted to represent West Hollywood.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 59:31Speaker 2: And so– and once they started having Celebrity Jeopardy, my
- 59:35Speaker 2: manager also represents Joel Kim Booster, who was on Celebrity Jeopardy.
- 59:39Speaker 2: And so I was like, can you get me on
- 59:40Speaker 2: Celebrity Jeopardy? And he was like, they don't want you.
- 59:42Speaker 2: And so– Oh, really? That made me sad. But then
- 59:46Speaker 2: after Ike Barron– So.
- 59:47Speaker 1: As a kid, I mean, you are such a wealth
- 59:50Speaker 1: of knowledge. You are– Smart, naturally smart, but you also
- 59:53Speaker 1: are book smart. Yes. So was that something that you
- 59:55Speaker 1: would watch growing up all the time and know all
- 59:58Speaker 1: the answers?
- 59:59Speaker 2: I watch it with my family, and then I did
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: competitive trivia when I was in college, and I really,
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: really loved it. And I love going and doing pub
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: trivia at the gay bar now.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: But I– like the things that– so I always did
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: it in February, and then this year– Ike Barinholtz won
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: Celebrity Jeopardy, and then he did really well in the
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Tournament of Champions up against real players. And I was like, ah,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: I want to do that. And then I saw a
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: thing where Emma Stone was like, I don't want to
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: do Celebrity Jeopardy. I want to do Real Jeopardy. And
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: I was like, I want to get on Real Jeopardy.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: So I took the test, and this year they called me,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: or I guess last year they called me.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: What's the test like?
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: The test is 50 questions, and it's just sort of
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: the questions that you would see On Jeopardy.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: You just do it like online?
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Yeah. You just type it in. There's a timer. I
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: remember I missed a question about where the crawdads sing.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: That book? Yeah, like contemporary. Wait, do you remember?
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: Let me see if I know it.
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: I forget what it was. It was just like it
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: said the name of the author and then.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Oh, you would have had to know the title.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Okay, got it.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: So I like did that. And then a couple of
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: months later. I got an email saying, well, will you
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: take the test again? But they do it a second time,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: but they have somebody like monitor to make sure you're
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: not cheating. And then they do one where they like
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: chit chat with you to make sure that you're like
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: able to tell an anecdote and like perform under stress.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: And then finally, or like at the end of last year,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: they called me and were like, would you come in
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: and be a standby for one day and then come
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: in and actually do it two weeks later? And I said, sure.
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: And then I went and I was on Jeopardy.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: What was the result?
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: So the whole day that I was there as a standby,
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: I was watching this guy who was winning all day long.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: And I was like, I think I could beat him.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: And then we went and when I came back for
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: the real day, I got picked for the first game.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: And I went into the first game and I did
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: end up beating the guy who was the returning champion. Unfortunately,
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: the guy who was on the other side of me
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: and was taller than I was. How could that be?
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Ended up... Having more money going into finals, he beat me.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: But we both beat the returning champion. So that made
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: me happy. And it was close.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: So then you didn't leave with anything?
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: You get three grand for coming in second. But also
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: there is a thing now called the second chances tournament
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: where people who have performed well in a game against
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: two champions or who have very good stats get to
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: come back. And so I have hope.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Is there anything that the fans can do, the Juicy
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Scoopers can do to get you back on?
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: I mean, if you wanted to email Jeopardy and say,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: we loved Guy Brannan. He was so great. We would
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: love to see him in Second Chances. I mean, I
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: wouldn't be bad about that.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Okay, I love it. Do you know what's going on
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: with Wendy?
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: The latest. I mean, is she under a conservatorship? Is
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: that her and Don?
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Yeah, they're good friends.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: I love Don.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I was on the roundtable with him on her show.
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: How is she doing?
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: So I just saw a quick video of her. She
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: seemed completely fine. She's sitting in a car and she's like,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I always did my banking at Wells Fargo myself. I
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: don't understand why I can't have access. I, you know,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: had to fire this person and hire this person. And
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I just want like that freedom. I think it's really
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: confusing for everybody, like how she ended up in the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: in the place of the person that we saw in
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: the documentary because that doesn't appear to be her now,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: thank goodness. She seems way more like with it. I
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: don't know if it was just alcohol that we saw
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: and maybe it wasn't dementia. Maybe it was, I don't know,
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: but she doesn't seem like she has dementia or Alzheimer's
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: or anything. And it's insane.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Mental health and mental acuity are so hard. And like,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: I do understand it can come and go. I just
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: really would hope and wish that like, that judges are
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: taking seriously their responsibility to put people in the care
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: of people who will take care of them and not
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: fucking Jamie Spears, you know?
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: I know. It's just, it's, it's crazy. So speaking of that, wait,
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I want to go to, um, well, well, I'll just
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: say Jamie Spears. Uh, Britney is back wearing her brown
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: sensible pumps out on the streets of Mexico, which is
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: always a concern of mine, why she loves her shoes
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: so much. Um, then also there's, um, Speaking of child stars,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: there is, where's our girl? Amanda Bynes is joining OnlyFans,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: but she said there's not going to be any sexual stuff,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: but she'll just talk to her fans. So if you're
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: curious about it, join her. Give her her things. She's
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: also like a nail tech. The way she talks is
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: very strange, how she uses social media.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: It's so sad.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: It's just so sad.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: She was so funny. She was so talented. And, you know,
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: it's really unfortunate that there weren't people there to take
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: better care of her.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: And you said you were watching a doc about the
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Glee show.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: Yeah. On Max, there is a doc about it's called
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: The Price of Glee. And it's basically just about, you know,
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: the fact three of the core cast members are dead now. And,
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: you know, what a simply ridiculous set of responsibilities they
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: put on those children. Right.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Like what? What stood out to you?
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: So it was, they're not just on a show. They're
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: also on a show where they're having to be recording
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: one to three songs every week and learning choreography. And
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: then they figured out that it was a goldmine. So
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: they shot 22 episodes and then they sent them on
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: tour for the whole summer. And so it was, for
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: so many of those kids, the opportunity to make all
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: of this money, but also... no time or space. And
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: by kids, I mean that most of them were in
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: their early twenties, they were young adults, but that there
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: was nobody there sort of like caring for them or,
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: you know, worrying about their mental health and their capacity
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: to deal with it. I don't know. Like we know
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: so many of those people who are the super pro
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: young performers. You have seen them and it's like always
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: impressive and you're proud of them. But I think having
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: somebody there who can, you know, say, This is not
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: an adult. You know, this is not a full grown adult.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Right. I mean, that's interesting, you know, and with the Glee, because,
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: of course, we've seen the Nickelodeon special with. And then
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: right now on Netflix, there's a three part series called
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Bad Influence. That was the story of this woman, Tiffany,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: whose daughter was named Piper Rockefeller. And she was big
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: on YouTube. And Tiffany and her younger boyfriend, Hunter, were
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: in charge of filming it all. And then they'd bring
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: in other kids. Some were people they knew. Other single moms.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: And then they would have these squads and it kind
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: of exploded during covid. And it was sort of like
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: their own version of friends. But as they got older,
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: they would they would be like, now that you guys
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: are going to be a new relationship, you're going to
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: be Dan and Melissa are going to be. Delisa or whatever.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: And they would do this whole thing and they'd put
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: it in the YouTube thumbnail. And then there were– but
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: they were also– because it was YouTube, there were no
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: rules of teachers or anything. And they were working them
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: for all these hours. And the kids were like, this
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: isn't fun anymore. They're getting older. So if they did leave,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: they'd already had their– then they would get their own
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: YouTube channel. Yeah. But then when they would go leave–
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Then they would show the Piper and the rest of
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: the kids. So Melissa's gone and we're going to unfollow her.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: And they make a video and there'd be Melissa at
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: home watching all of her friends and her young boyfriend
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: unfollow her. And then the Hunter, allegedly Hunter and the mom,
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Tiffany- because they helped establish their YouTube channels, were able
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: to like tank them. So then they didn't have that anymore.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: And then there were sexual abuse accusations as well.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: I mean, it's so troubling that all of this social
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: media stuff has none of those legal protections. There is,
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: you know, a lot of these people are working their
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: children or at least monetizing their children. Oh, Moses Storm
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: is a very funny comic and he has an HBO special.
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: But the best thing about it is he posts... his
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: mom decided that they were going to get money from
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: America's funniest home videos. And so he posts like the
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: raw footage of his mom trying to get him to
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: knock an egg off onto his sister's head. And it
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: is just like, you know, 30 years beforehand, what people
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: are doing now. And it makes me feel weird because I,
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: I don't care about dogs or cats. I like a toddler.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: And so there are so many accounts, like there is this,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Orthodox Jewish labor and delivery nurse with five daughters who
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: I am obsessed with. And like other people are like,
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: they don't like that this person is posting, you know,
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: monetizing videos. where she shows her daughters and stuff like that.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: I think it's so fun and funny, but I also understand.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: feeling weird about it you know.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: Well it's like so we got an agent iris burton
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: and really my sister shannon is the one that booked
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: all the stuff yes and back then i guess there
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: was a lot more money in commercials and things like
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: that because there's only like five channels so we would
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: everyone would see her bold three commercial you know in
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: her little face whatever and so then she said mom
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: everyone's asking me how much i make on these commercials
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: at school and And my mom, I don't think, gave
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: her great advice. She said, just say a lot. Okay.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: So my sister, who's pretty sweet and, like, wasn't at
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: all sassy at the time, they're like, oh, you think
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: you're a star? You know, whatever. I think she's got
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: to be bullied. How would she make it? She goes,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: I just turn around a lot. And that didn't help
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: the bullying or anything. But they did make money from it.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: And– I look back and, you know, we got an
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: addition to our house.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: And they paid for her college, but she had to
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: pay for her own law school. And I'm like, I mean,
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: what is she going to do? What was she going
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: to do like 10 years later? Wait, mom. you shouldn't
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: be paying for Heather's school. Like I'm the one that made,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: I mean, there's no way like the account, even though
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: there was this Cougar laws and stuff, there's no way
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: to like prove. And she was got a car. She
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: got to go to private college. I mean, there wasn't
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: anything like that, but like.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I did a podcast a couple of weeks ago with
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: my friend Tess Barker, where we did a deep dive
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: on the Olsen twins. That was really, really great. She's
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: actually one of the podcasters who sort of like made
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: people aware of what was going on with Brittany and
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: was like very, very much involved in getting Britney free.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: An amazing person. But just that thought of, just thinking about,
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: the Olsen twins were like nine when that show was done.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Most of- And started with their babies.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Most of the time they were there, they were not
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: forming permanent memories.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: And it's just so weird to be like, would it,
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: what's the exchange of having your childhood entirely stolen from you,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: but in exchange, you do start out with a billion dollars?
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I think, What's lovely is a child that actually is
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: a twin that has someone else and parents that obviously
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: did it right. And I don't think it's always bad.
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: I do think we need child actors to tell stories,
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: but it, it is a very fucked up risky thing.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I mean, I think the way my sister did it,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: my niece did it was good because it wasn't like
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: they were on a series, but at the same time,
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: like I'm looking back and.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: I'm like, a fair amount of like, I know so
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: many LA people who just did LA levels of child
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: acting and they were like semi-involved, but they still had
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: a life. And it's also really interesting. I like watch
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: a lot of shows that ran for one season or
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: did a pilot and nothing else. And there's something interesting
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: about those kids like Kyle Richards who were like in
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: the mix, but not everywhere. You know, she's like a
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: different situation because her sister was like famous, famous, you know.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: The sister Kim became very famous and the, And it
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: is really– it is interesting because Kathy was older and
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Kathy was getting this stuff. Kathy was like the beautiful
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: baby model. And then Kim just– it just started to
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: hit just kind of like with my sister. Like it
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: was that blonde, blue-eyed look. They just like wanted that.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: They did not want the brown-haired, brown-eyed, whatever. And– And
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I remember going all the way to an audition, okay?
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: And my mom had to take me out of school
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: and drive there. And by the time we got there,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I was just really tired. And then I'd be at home,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: and I'd be doing characters and dancing around my mom,
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: and she would say, why can't you be like that
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: when I take you to Hollywood? That wasted so much
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: of my time. And I remember immediately feeling really, really
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: bad that I fucked up. And it was then that
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I started to realize that I'm not just going to
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: do a fun thing. I'm wasting my mother's time if
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: I don't get this job.
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: I mean, that's terrible. And I do think there needs
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: to be more time for children to play, to be bored.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: You know, I do think... the different children that I
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: know and the different relationships to screens are really funny
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: and interesting to me because I do think having time
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: when you're not being entertained and have to entertain yourself
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: is really important to making an interesting person. And like
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: you shouldn't, us being adults who have monetized our charm
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: is weird enough. You know what I mean? That like
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: us being interesting and engaging people is kind of what
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: we sell. is like weird for just negotiating the rest
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: of life, understanding what on and off is, let alone
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: a fucking child, you know?
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: Yeah. It's very interesting. Now, Guy, remind everybody again where
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: they can follow you. You're such a beloved Juicy Scoop guest.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: Thank you for having me. I'm at Guy Branum on
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Instagram and most social media. I am at Guy Branum
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Comedy on TikTok. And please, if you are in Chicago
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: on May 5th, if you are in Minneapolis.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: We're in Chicago. What's the theater?
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: The Den Theater.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Beautiful.
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: In Minneapolis on May 7th. San Francisco at Club Fugazi
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: on May 19th. Alligator Theater in Seattle on May 21st.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: So tell us a little what the show is. Are
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: you telling just juicy stories? Are you telling stand-up? It's
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: a little combo?
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: So it's a solo show. It's a solo show that
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: is like ostensibly a TED Talk where I'm explaining that
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: there's no reason for my life because I am a
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: clinically obese gay man. And I examine it from the
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: perspective of religion and the perspective of science and evolution.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: And then I sort of use that as a way
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: to tell– some stories from like, you're a really good storyteller.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: I am like much more a like logic and one
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: liner kind of guy. Um, but I use it to
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: sort of explain why I'm not comfortable telling stories about
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: my life and then force myself to tell some uncomfortable
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: stories about my life.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I love it. You're so funny and so entertaining and I,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: everyone go see his show and thank you. Go check
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: out me, Heather McDonald.net and join my Patreon. Cause that's
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: everybody's favorite thing. Thank you. Love you.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Bye.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: Christmas shopping has already started in our house. My daughter
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: is so organised, already planning Christmas gifts from Macaulay. Hair
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: care for her aunt and a fab fragrance for her bestie.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: I'm an early bird, buying one present a week from
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: now till Christmas, which makes budgeting less stressful. I can
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: buy in-store or online from Macaulay.ie for home delivery or
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: free click and collect.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: So easy.
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Gifts they'll cherish at prices you'll love.
