- 0:01SPEAKER_00: 2 Peter 2.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: False teachers.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: In the past, there are false prophets among God's people.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: It is the same now.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: You will have some false teachers in your group.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: They will teach things that are wrong, ideas that will cause people to be lost.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: And they will teach in a way that will be hard for you to see that they are wrong.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: They will even refuse to follow the master who bought their freedom.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And so they will quickly destroy themselves.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Many people will follow them in the morally wrong things they do.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: And because of them, others will say bad things about the way of truth we follow.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: These false teachers only want your money, so they will use you by telling you things that are not true.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: But the judgment against these false teachers has been ready for a long time, and they will not escape God who will destroy them.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: When angels sinned, God did not let them go free without punishment.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: He sent them to hell.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: He put those angels in caves of darkness where they are being held until the time when God will judge them.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And God punished the evil people who lived long ago.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: He brought a flood to the world that was full of people who were against God, but he saved Noah and seven other people with him.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Noah was a man who told people about living right.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: God also punished the evil cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: He burned them until there was nothing left but ashes.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: He used those cities as an example of what will happen to people who are against God.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: But he saved Lot, a good man who lived there.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Lot was greatly troubled by the morally bad lives of those evil people.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: This good man lived with those evil people every day, and his good heart was hurt by the evil things he saw and heard.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: So you see that the Lord God knows how to save those who are devoted to him.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: He will save them when troubles come, and the Lord will hold evil people to punish them on the day of judgment.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: That punishment is for those who are always doing the evil that their sinful selves want to do.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: It is for those who hate the Lord's authority.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: The false teachers do whatever they want, and they're so proud of themselves.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: They're not even afraid to say the bad things against the glorious ones.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: The angels are much stronger and more powerful than these beings, but even the angels don't accuse them and say bad things about them to the Lord.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: But these false teachers speak evil against what they don't understand.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: They're like animals that do things without really thinking, like wild animals that are born to be caught and killed.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And like wild animals, they will be destroyed.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: They have made many people suffer, so they themselves will suffer.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: That is their pay for what they have done.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: They think it is fun to do evil where everyone can see them.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: They enjoy the evil things that please them.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: So they are like dirty spots and stains among you.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: They bring shame to you in the meals you eat together.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Every time they look at a woman, they want her.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: They are always sinning this way, and they lead weaker people into the trap of sin.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: They have taught themselves well to be greedy.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: They are under a curse.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: These false teachers left the right way and went the wrong way.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: They followed the same way that the prophet Balaam went.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: He was the son of Baor, who loved being paid for doing wrong.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: But a donkey told him that he was doing wrong.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: A donkey cannot talk, of course, but that donkey spoke with a man's voice and stopped the prophet from acting so crazy.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: These false teachers are like springs that have no water.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: They are like clouds that are blown by a storm.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: A place in the deepest darkness has been kept for them.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: They boast with words that mean nothing.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: They lead people into the trap of sin.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: They find people who have just escaped from a wrong way of life and led them back into sin.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: They do this by using the evil things people want to do in their human weaknesses.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: These false teachers promise those people freedom, but they themselves are not free.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: They are slaves to a mind that has been ruined by sin.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Yes, people are slaves to anything that control them.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: People can be made free from the evil in the world.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: They can be made free by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: But if they go back into those evil things and are controlled by them, then it is worse for them than it was before.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Yes, it would be better for them to have never known the right way.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: That would be better than to know the right way and to turn away from the holy teaching that was given to them.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: What they did is like these true sayings a dog vomits and goes back to what it threw up.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: And after a pig is washed, it goes back and rolls in the mud again.
