- 0:00Speaker 1: I was in command of the Union troops at the
- 0:02Speaker 1: Battle of Manassas, the second one. That's my truth. It's
- 0:05Speaker 1: one more thing.
- 0:07Speaker 2: I'm strong and getty. One more thing.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I can't Biden enveloped the Poliopac scene. That's my truth.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Can't imagine what the hell you're talking about. I'm sure
- 0:17Speaker 2: we'll find out momentarily. First, a little bit from the
- 0:22Speaker 2: opening of Saturday Night Live. We uh, we kind of
- 0:24Speaker 2: feel like we're show friends with this guy, the guy
- 0:26Speaker 2: that does the great Trump impersonation, because we had him
- 0:29Speaker 2: do a clip for US years ago before he was
- 0:32Speaker 2: even on SML. His Trump is the best. Anyway, here
- 0:34Speaker 2: we go.
- 0:35Speaker 1: President Trump, if elected, what would you do to stop
- 0:38Speaker 1: Taylor Swift from infiltrating the Super Bowl and stealing the election?
- 0:42Speaker 3: You know, thank you. That's actually one of the smartest
- 0:45Speaker 3: and most research questions I think possibly ever. You know,
- 0:49Speaker 3: we all know that Biden has brainwashed Tata. Okay, they're
- 0:52Speaker 3: using her in something called Psyops, which started, of course
- 0:56Speaker 3: with the great Koretan rapper Ray PSI right, that's his name.
- 1:00Speaker 3: He's a dear friend.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Gangam.
- 1:01Speaker 3: You told me you needed a new style, I said,
- 1:04Speaker 3: what about Gangam? We love Gangham so much. And now
- 1:07Speaker 3: they've got Tae pretending to date Trey k That's what
- 1:10Speaker 3: I call Travis Kelson. And he's such a terrible boyfriend. Okay,
- 1:13Speaker 3: he can't even get Taylor tickets near the field. Have
- 1:16Speaker 3: you seen that? He's got a way up in a
- 1:17Speaker 3: little box.
- 1:19Speaker 2: So sad? God, his his inflection and the various kinds
- 1:24Speaker 2: of Trump voices they are there are really good, right boy,
- 1:29Speaker 2: if you want to this might be the most annoying
- 1:32Speaker 2: sixty seconds of audio we've ever done since we're over
- 1:37Speaker 2: Taylor Swift and as everybody is, and now I've got
- 1:41Speaker 2: Royal Family news, boy that this might be the worst. Okay, Katie,
- 1:46Speaker 2: you canna be all right?
- 1:47Speaker 1: Nope, Ay, I'm with you, sister. I disavow this podcast.
- 1:52Speaker 1: I disavowed.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Are you quitting the show? This just came across the
- 1:58Speaker 2: word King Charles has cancer. They were doing prostate surgery
- 2:02Speaker 2: and found cancer, which I find an interesting way to
- 2:05Speaker 2: word it. I wouldn't think they'd be doing prostate cancer
- 2:08Speaker 2: unless they knew he had can or they would have Yeah,
- 2:11Speaker 2: I would have thought anyway. The only reason I bring
- 2:14Speaker 2: this up at all is if he's at all very ill.
- 2:18Speaker 2: The conversation is going to start among some of the
- 2:20Speaker 2: whole So who's next in line? Will Harry was Meghan?
- 2:25Speaker 2: Next in line?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Oh? I hope so.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Meghan was Queen England. Maybe that would kill off this
- 2:33Speaker 2: whole stupid experiment.
- 2:35Speaker 1: No, it's stignified bald headed William right and his cute
- 2:39Speaker 1: wife and Kate Kate, Kate Middleton. That's right. Embarrassed that
- 2:44Speaker 1: I'm embarrassed that I did too. Yeah, I'm embarrassed that
- 2:46Speaker 1: you knew.
- 2:47Speaker 2: That so he'd be he'd be the King of England.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, and with all the duties and responsibilities thereof whatever.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Make a monkey the care or the red head with
- 3:00Speaker 1: the obnoxious Megan girlfriend.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I don't care, wife, I don't care. I think we
- 3:05Speaker 2: all want Harry and Meghan to be king and queen though, right,
- 3:08Speaker 2: because I'd be just more entertaining for the world all
- 3:11Speaker 2: the way around if you put it go into my
- 3:13Speaker 2: head and make me choose. Yeah, I'd go for that exactly,
- 3:15Speaker 2: because then you got the whole South Park thing of
- 3:18Speaker 2: where's our privacy? Give us up privacy? They stand on
- 3:21Speaker 2: top of their house with the light beam and band
- 3:25Speaker 2: playing we want privacy.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got to admit that if the royal family
- 3:31Speaker 1: is going well, there's nothing in it for me. It's
- 3:34Speaker 1: only when it cracks up that it becomes something that
- 3:37Speaker 1: I have any interest.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Maybe we could make William the King of England and
- 3:41Speaker 2: shoot him and Taylor Swift into space at the same time,
- 3:44Speaker 2: and both of the conversations. I think we ought to have.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Like a debate between William and Harry for who ought
- 3:51Speaker 1: to be the king, and they can just bring out
- 3:53Speaker 1: old grievances and like really go after.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Each other, right, including that you're not you know, even related.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, whatever you say, Red Redhead. It's funny. It's
- 4:07Speaker 1: kind of weird, isn't.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It funny how you don't look like dad at all?
- 4:14Speaker 1: So the my truth thing. I've been meaning to squeeze
- 4:18Speaker 1: this into the radio show, but it's really long.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I gotta tell you. I gotta just tell you this.
- 4:23Speaker 2: I'm looking at the cable news channels, all the TV's
- 4:27Speaker 2: breaking news, King Charles diagnosed with cancer. Who fucking cares
- 4:34Speaker 2: need to know news? I mean, seriously, do you know?
- 4:37Speaker 2: I know? I don't know. I I personally don't know
- 4:41Speaker 2: my entire world of people I know. I don't think
- 4:45Speaker 2: I know a single person that would give a shit.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I'm trying to think. But the fact that I'm having
- 4:53Speaker 1: to try to think kind of answers the question.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I know one, you know one who would care?
- 4:58Speaker 1: I know one, no one, and I'm going to avoid
- 5:01Speaker 1: this conversation with that person at all costs.
- 5:04Speaker 2: And what are their other qualities?
- 5:06Speaker 1: They watched The Kardashians, Oh okay, okay, that type of
- 5:09Speaker 1: stuff gotcha.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So it's a soap opera then for them? Then yeah,
- 5:12Speaker 2: the Crown on Netflix was like a big deal. Ah right, Oh?
- 5:15Speaker 2: I just find this all so exhausting. Do you feel
- 5:18Speaker 2: do you feel like getting dumber? Because I do? Oh yeah?
- 5:22Speaker 2: And if we ever because you've invited this to various
- 5:24Speaker 2: get togethers with you and your parents' stuff, if we
- 5:26Speaker 2: ever are ever able to make it, can you make
- 5:28Speaker 2: sure that person is not there. They're not a chance,
- 5:31Speaker 2: they're country. I don't want to meet that person, Nope,
- 5:35Speaker 2: won't subjected to that. I promise I.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Will give you one thousand United States dollars if you
- 5:42Speaker 1: invite that person and tell them Jack wants to hear
- 5:46Speaker 1: all about the royal famer Joe.
- 5:49Speaker 2: We will talk after the podcast.
- 5:51Speaker 1: And that would be a bargain. I would just watch
- 5:54Speaker 1: his face the whole night.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Oh god boy.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So anyway, I was hoping to it this during the show,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but it's a little longish in its entirety. It's a
- 6:04Speaker 1: piece written by Josh Barrow, and it has to do
- 6:06Speaker 1: with the you know, it's a campus madness story about
- 6:10Speaker 1: you know, universities and and how so much of research
- 6:14Speaker 1: and the research papers that everybody the peer reviewed this and.
- 6:18Speaker 2: That, how a lot of it's crap.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And he was part of that world. And he's writing,
- 6:23Speaker 1: especially in the social sciences, not only can you not
- 6:26Speaker 1: replicate the results of some of these surveys and experiments
- 6:29Speaker 1: and stuff, nobody even tries, nobody even thinks of it.
- 6:33Speaker 1: So it's completely phony and everybody knows it.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yeah, the replication problem is a serious issue for the
- 6:40Speaker 2: university world right now.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and even in some of the harder sciences. And
- 6:45Speaker 1: this guy is talking about the fake sciences, the grievance
- 6:48Speaker 1: studies and stuff like that, and how there again nobody
- 6:51Speaker 1: even asks them to be accurate or for their research
- 6:55Speaker 1: to have an ounce.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Of rigor to it.
- 6:59Speaker 1: It's she's just not even asked, which is I think
- 7:03Speaker 1: would be shocking to a lot of Americans. But this
- 7:05Speaker 1: was my favorite part. And he quotes a guy who
- 7:09Speaker 1: wrote about a paper by Jenny Bolstrode, a historian of
- 7:14Speaker 1: science at the University of London, so this is one
- 7:17Speaker 1: of the great universities on Earth, who alleges that a
- 7:21Speaker 1: moderately notable metallurgical technique patented in England in the late
- 7:26Speaker 1: seventeen hundreds was in fact stolen from the black Jamaican
- 7:30Speaker 1: metallurgists who really developed it. Okay, so this is incredibly obscure.
- 7:36Speaker 1: But this guy, this seventeen hundreds guy in England, I
- 7:39Speaker 1: think Henry Court was his name. He's been credited for
- 7:42Speaker 1: one hundreds of years developing whatever this metal technique is.
- 7:46Speaker 1: But she says, no, it was actually stolen from black Jamaicans.
- 7:51Speaker 1: But her paper failed to show that such a technique
- 7:55Speaker 1: was ever even used in Jamaica, much less that the
- 7:59Speaker 1: guy he credits with developing ever did anything with this.
- 8:05Speaker 1: I mean, it's like it's like claiming that I commanded
- 8:09Speaker 1: the troops at Antietam or something. There's no evidence of
- 8:13Speaker 1: it whatsoever. I'm going to quote now the paper because
- 8:15Speaker 1: it fit into the fashionable category of historian finds yet
- 8:18Speaker 1: another thing that is racist.
- 8:20Speaker 2: Garnered a lot.
- 8:22Speaker 1: It got a lot of press coverage, and when people
- 8:25Speaker 1: pointed out that the paper didn't have the goods, the
- 8:27Speaker 1: editors of the journal published it came out with a
- 8:30Speaker 1: what is truth anyway type word salad in defense of
- 8:35Speaker 1: the article, including this couple of sentences. We by no
- 8:39Speaker 1: means hold that fiction is a meaningless category. Dishonesty and
- 8:42Speaker 1: fabrication and academic scholarship are ethically unacceptable, but we do
- 8:46Speaker 1: believe that what counts as accountability to our historical subject,
- 8:49Speaker 1: our readers in our communities is not singular or to
- 8:52Speaker 1: be dictated prior to engaging in a historical study. If
- 8:56Speaker 1: we are to confront the anti blackness of Euro American
- 8:59Speaker 1: intellectual traditions as those have been explicated over the last
- 9:02Speaker 1: century by any names of scholars and scholars of the
- 9:06Speaker 1: subsequent generations, we must grasp that what is experienced by
- 9:09Speaker 1: dominant actors in Euro American cultures as empiricism is deeply
- 9:14Speaker 1: conditioned by the predicating logics of colonialism and racial capitalism.
- 9:19Speaker 1: To do otherwise is to reinstitate or reinstate older forms
- 9:23Speaker 1: of profoundly selective historicism that support white domination. That was
- 9:30Speaker 1: their answer to, Uh, there weren't any black Jamaicans doing this,
- 9:35Speaker 1: and the guy you named never did anything like this. Well,
- 9:40Speaker 1: the historicism of the predating logics of colonialism racial capitalism.
- 9:46Speaker 2: So it's a long paragraph of nonsense that says, we
- 9:51Speaker 2: sure would like this to be true, though, wouldn't we
- 9:53Speaker 2: all feel better? Wouldn't we all feel better if this
- 9:56Speaker 2: were true? I no idea better.
- 9:57Speaker 1: If this fits the sort of thing we I'd like
- 10:00Speaker 1: to be true, then you bringing up facts, man, is
- 10:06Speaker 1: just a drag. And these are leading journals publishing the
- 10:11Speaker 1: work by leading professional professors from the top universities.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we're in a crazy time.
- 10:18Speaker 1: It is. Yeah, it's overwhelming how far into crazyville you
- 10:23Speaker 1: would have to go to even start fixing this problem.
- 10:27Speaker 2: I remember, what was that story we had about debates?
- 10:29Speaker 2: Was it high school or college debates? That always blew
- 10:31Speaker 2: my mind?
- 10:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's no longer about arguments and facts. It's whoever
- 10:35Speaker 1: expressed their emotions the most effectively about their truth they're
- 10:39Speaker 1: the winner of the debate.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And the other teams don't even challenge that because it
- 10:44Speaker 2: would look so bad for them to challenge it, so
- 10:46Speaker 2: they just kind of, oh, for right, Yeah they bow out.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 1: If you are outnumbered by people of color or gay
- 10:54Speaker 1: people or whatever on the other team, you don't even
- 10:57Speaker 1: argue with them because that would make you a racist
- 11:00Speaker 1: than a homophobe and a transphob or whatever you say.
- 11:02Speaker 1: They win, They totally win. We're sorry we even came
- 11:05Speaker 1: here today. How effing crazy is that.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Heavy lays the prostate that wears the crown. That's what
- 11:14Speaker 2: I say. Go cheez, well, I guess that's it.
