The Paper Trail Begins: New Mexico's Epstein Truth Commission Receives Subpoenaed Records (7/2/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of The
• 0:03
Epstein Chronicles. The investigation into Jeffrey Epstein continues to heat
• 0:10
up down in New Mexico, and now we're starting to
• 0:14
see some material from the subpoenas that were fired off
• 0:18
start to come back in and it's going to be
• 0:20
real interesting to see just how forthcoming these folks are.
• 0:25
I mean, you have a lot of institutions that are
• 0:27
getting hit with the subpoenas that don't want to talk
• 0:30
about Jeffrey Epstein, and they've done their level best throughout
• 0:34
the years to make sure that that didn't occur. But
• 0:38
now they're getting hit with a subpoena, they're going to
• 0:41
have to, at the very least make pretend they're playing
• 0:43
the game. But as we've seen previously, that's exactly what
• 0:48
it is to a lot of these people, a game,
• 0:51
and unfortunately, Congress has let them play their games. So
• 0:55
I wonder if this commission in New Mexico is going
• 0:57
to attempt to really get down to the bottom of
• 1:01
what happened. And look, I hope that's the case, and
• 1:04
I hope that this commission is going to dig as
• 1:06
deep as they can well, considering the history that we're
• 1:09
dealing with here. I'm not putting the cart before the horse.
• 1:14
We need to see some tangible results. Right. It's one
• 1:18
thing to talk a big game, it's a whole less
• 1:20
other thing to actually do it. And today we have
• 1:23
an article from the Santa Fe New Mexican and the
• 1:26
headline subpoena materials starts flowing to Epstein Truth Commission. This
• 1:31
article was authored by Clara Bates. Responding to a subpoena
• 1:36
issued by the Zoro Truth Commission became an all consuming
• 1:40
task for the small staff of New Mexico's State Historical Archive. Boy,
• 1:45
we've heard that story before. Huh oh, we don't have
• 1:48
the proper staffing, not enough people. We can't get through
• 1:52
all this work. Well, that's what we heard from the
• 1:55
DOJ down here in the New Mexico State Records Office.
• 2:00
They just got to work. Over about two weeks in June,
• 2:05
staff at the New Mexico State Record Center and Archives,
• 2:08
which houses historical records of prior governors, looked through hundreds
• 2:11
of thousands of pages in two hundred and thirty boxes,
• 2:15
and searched millions of online records. The commission had requested
• 2:19
records related to former governor Bill Richardson, who had ties
• 2:23
to Jeffrey Epstein, the wealthy sex offender who owned the
• 2:26
sprawling Zoro ranch in southern Santa Fe County from nineteen
• 2:30
ninety three until his death in twenty nineteen. And let's
• 2:36
be clear, they weren't just buddies. Bill Richardson has been
• 2:40
credibly accused of taking part in the abuse. And for
• 2:47
all those people out there that all of a sudden
• 2:49
believed Virginia that were nowhere to be seen previously, By
• 2:53
the way, how come you didn't have anything to say
• 2:57
when Bill Richardson was working with the Biden administration to
• 3:00
try to bring Britney Griner home. I called it out
• 3:03
at the time because Bill Richardson is a piece of shit,
• 3:09
And I believe my friend Virginia when she says that
• 3:11
he assaulted her. So where were all these left wing
• 3:14
pundits then, all these people that have made a living
• 3:17
talking about Epstein for the past year, all them clowns
• 3:20
were mia when the battle was being waged in the trenches.
• 3:25
Oh it's easy to come in afterwards, right, but you
• 3:29
were never on the front line. And if you would
• 3:33
have listened when Virginia was telling you this years ago,
• 3:36
maybe we could have had justice. So keep that shit
• 3:39
in mind when you're looking to assign blame. It's so
• 3:43
big and important that we want to make sure we're
• 3:46
doing due diligence, Jonathan Pringle, director of the Archives and
• 3:49
Historical Services Division, said in an interview on Wednesday, adding
• 3:54
that he thinks the staff have callouses on their thumbs
• 3:56
from flipping through the pages. All five staff members in
• 4:00
the State Archives help come through the boxes, he said, well, good.
• 4:06
All that information should be provided to the commission. Whatever
• 4:09
they're asking for they should get, especially if there's nothing
• 4:13
to hide, If nobody has anything to hide, and there
• 4:17
was no misdeeds done by anyone in power, then these
• 4:21
institutions should be happy to turn everything over. Oh yeah,
• 4:24
we got that. This proves that what was said is incorrect.
• 4:28
Here you go. But you notice they fight tooth and nel.
• 4:33
The last thing they want to do is be transparent.
• 4:37
You know how they say that the truth will set
• 4:39
you free. Not for them. They're allergic to the truth.
• 4:45
The tiny agency turned over one hundred and thirty two
• 4:48
responsive records. Pringle said those records, as he understands them,
• 4:52
included mainly routine administrative notes such as callback memos and
• 4:57
communication about travel, which may or may not not have
• 5:00
been specifically to any Epstein property. He said, well, good,
• 5:05
give them all the information, let them go through it,
• 5:07
and let's find out what's what. That's how an investigation works.
• 5:12
And as you can see over in the UK with
• 5:14
mister Mandelsson, everything I told you is coming true. They
• 5:19
opened the door with the Epstein files and then they
• 5:22
kicked that motherfucker in and now they're going to get
• 5:25
them for all kinds of espionage, all kinds of crazy shit.
• 5:30
And we have an episode coming up talking about it.
• 5:32
But man, that's how it works. You get somebody on
• 5:37
some you know, little picywn shit, some little small crime,
• 5:41
and then from there you give him a colonoscopy. And
• 5:45
that's how it's always worked, and that's how it's always
• 5:47
going to work. Those records are now in the hands
• 5:51
of the four person legislative Investigatory Committee looking into Epstein's
• 5:55
activities in the state. The State Archives was one of
• 5:59
about a dozen entities with a Tuesday deadline to respond
• 6:03
to the commission subpoenas. Representative Andrea Romero, the Commission chair,
• 6:09
said as of Wednesday, the panel that heard back from
• 6:12
nearly all the subpoenad organizations. Many are still in the
• 6:16
process to turn it over the record, she said, but
• 6:19
are clearly working to comply. And I wonder what the
• 6:22
penalty is if they don't comply, because we know when
• 6:25
it comes to the United States Congress there are no penalties.
• 6:28
People can say and do whatever they want, obviously, because
• 6:32
just about every single person that we've seen get up
• 6:35
there and give testimony has lied. No consequences, no follow up,
• 6:42
no referral, nothing. What we do know is that there
• 6:48
is just a vast amount of material that we need
• 6:50
to look through. We don't know at this point what
• 6:52
they are. The good thing is, in general, is that
• 6:55
our investigations underway at this point, Romero said, And yeah,
• 6:59
you got to start somehere, and I'm glad they started now.
• 7:03
It should have been a long time ago, and Zora
• 7:06
Ran should have been rated at the time that all
• 7:08
of this was going down. But better late than ever.
• 7:11
And it's much more than we're seeing in New York
• 7:13
or Florida, or down in the Virgin Islands or anywhere
• 7:16
else Epstein was active. So yeah, I'll give New Mexico
• 7:20
a tip of the cap. The only agencies the Commission
• 7:23
hadn't heard back from were federal the Federal Aviation Administration
• 7:27
and federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York
• 7:31
and Florida. Of course, well, who's running the cover up,
• 7:35
the federal government, right, So why would they want to
• 7:39
give over these records to somebody who's not part of
• 7:42
their cover up. That doesn't make sense. So they're going
• 7:46
to fight at tooth and noel, there's no doubt in
• 7:48
my mind, and what they're going to rely on is
• 7:51
a loopholes and technicality strategy. That's what they're going to
• 7:55
rely on. Neither the FAA nor a Florida secutor has
• 8:00
responded to request for comment. A spokesperson from the New
• 8:04
York office declined to comment. The Commission is seeking EPSTEIN
• 8:07
flight logs along with investigative files of the prosecutor's offices.
• 8:13
Should be easy stuff to turn over, right, especially considering
• 8:17
that we have the EFTA law going right now. You
• 8:20
think they'd want to be in compliance. You'd think wrong,
• 8:25
because once again the DOJ they're going to do whatever
• 8:28
they want to do under this administration, and unfortunately, up
• 8:32
until this point, at least there's nothing anyone can do
• 8:35
about it other than the Record Center. The other organizations
• 8:40
which have either turned over the information or are in
• 8:43
the process of doing so, according to the Truth Commission,
• 8:46
aer the New Mexico Department of Justice, US Attorney's Office
• 8:50
for New Mexico Governor's Office, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office,
• 8:55
Public Regulation Commission, Department of Public Safety, Regulation and Licensing Department,
• 9:02
the Santa Fe Institute, New Mexico State Land Office. Now,
• 9:07
the Santa Fe Institute's interesting because, as I've told you,
• 9:11
they threw me directly off that campus. It's like they
• 9:14
knew I was coming. Maybe Jeffrey Epstein and his buddies
• 9:18
called them after I was over at Zoro Ranch and
• 9:20
they were like, you know what, You're gonna have some
• 9:22
company soon, because the second I got on that campus,
• 9:26
all right, maybe not the second, but it wasn't long
• 9:29
before I was approached and told to leave. Several agencies,
• 9:34
including the Regulation and Licensing Department and the Department of
• 9:38
Public Safety, are in the process or responding to the subpoenas,
• 9:41
but have been in touch with the Commission and granted
• 9:44
informal extensions. The Santa Fe Institute sought and was granted
• 9:48
an extension until July thirteenth. Romero said, why see, this
• 9:54
is the kind of shit I don't like. If there's
• 9:58
a date that you have to turn over the information,
• 10:00
then that's the date the information should be turned over.
• 10:05
Why are we getting all these different extensions in shit?
• 10:11
Representative Marianna Anaya of Albuquerque, wh who's a member of
• 10:14
the Commission, said the agency is asking for more time,
• 10:17
seemed to be working hard to gather the documents. There
• 10:21
were some entities who I think probably knew that they
• 10:24
were going to be subpoena and I do believe that
• 10:26
they probably started getting stuff together a little bit earlier.
• 10:30
And then there are other entities that are asking for
• 10:32
small extensions, And I think that's a sign of good
• 10:35
faith that people are actually trying to get documents together
• 10:39
instead of just saying, oh, here's what we think we have.
• 10:43
Anaya said on this week's episode of Around the Roundhouse,
• 10:47
the political podcast hosted by The New Mexican The subpoenas
• 10:52
are broad and extensive, seeking records each of the organizations
• 10:56
hold about Epstein and disassociates activities in New Mexico. The
• 11:01
Truth Commission has said the subpoenas will help them get
• 11:04
the big picture understanding of Epstein's activities in the state
• 11:08
and gained the foundational knowledge necessary to begin asking questions
• 11:13
of individuals. Several other subpoenas have been issued and posted
• 11:18
on the Commission's website, including Deutsche Bank JP, Morgan Chase,
• 11:22
and additional federal prosecutors offices, with response deadlines. Of July seventeenth,
• 11:28
a total of twenty subpoenas had been posted publicly on
• 11:31
the Truth Commission's website. From the banks, the Commission has
• 11:36
requested all documents in data related to Epstein and disassociated LLC's,
• 11:42
including monthly statements and suspicious activity reports, from federal prosecutors
• 11:47
in the Eastern and Western District of Michigan and the
• 11:51
District of South Carolina and the Virgin Islands. The Commissions
• 11:55
requesting all investigative files related to Epstein and his associates,
• 12:00
documents surrounding decisions not to prosecute Epstein, and any information
• 12:05
or documents about Zoro Ranch. The Commission has said it
• 12:09
plans to hold a July meeting where it will discuss
• 12:12
responses to the subpoenas, the date of which has not
• 12:16
yet been announced. The House resolution that created the commission
• 12:20
calls for an interim report due July thirty first, with
• 12:24
a final report due at the end of the year.
• 12:27
So things are moving down in New Mexico, and once
• 12:32
we get some more information about what's been turned over,
• 12:35
we'll definitely get that added to the catalog as well,
• 12:38
But until then, that's going to do it for this one.
• 12:41
All the information that goes with this episode can be
• 12:44
  found in the description box.
