- 0:08Speaker 3: The World's original podcast.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Having beaten a really good team
- 0:21Speaker 2: in the uh what's the name of them? If good?
- 0:25Speaker 2: You forgot that he was about to call them the
- 0:27Speaker 2: Texas Rangers.
- 0:28Speaker 4: But at some point maybe the Patriots defense will get
- 0:30Speaker 4: talked about like some of these other great defenses.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Here we go. Do I have to? I have to, like,
- 0:35Speaker 2: you know, give a little lesson here?
- 0:37Speaker 5: Can you say?
- 0:38Speaker 2: But first I'd like to express my condolences to Evan.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We know his feelings on a team making the conference
- 0:42Speaker 2: championship game and having to pick at the end of
- 0:44Speaker 2: the first round like that. He doesn't like. See, that
- 0:48Speaker 2: was a wild game. It led to a white knucklock.
- 0:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I clocked one thing to clock clocked it, noticed
- 0:56Speaker 6: it track track.
- 0:57Speaker 4: It's more about motivation with him than it is inspire.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, sure I can motivate. You're gonna inspire it. Well,
- 1:03Speaker 2: whatever was a person? What would Epa look like? Smart?
- 1:09Speaker 2: Like some kid from Last Supper Cuts Haircuts? Does Evans
- 1:12Speaker 2: still think it's too soon to play? In the AFC
- 1:15Speaker 2: Championship game. Are we setting the franchise back for years
- 1:18Speaker 2: to come like the Commanders did? This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:21Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:25Speaker 7: dot Com.
- 1:28Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is cold day
- 1:34Speaker 2: here at Gillette Stadium, and it's gonna get colder. All
- 1:37Speaker 2: eyes are on the weather forecast for travel plans, especially
- 1:40Speaker 2: coming back after the AFC Championship win.
- 1:43Speaker 8: Some weather coming in here.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You step down my line after the AFC Championship win. Evan,
- 1:51Speaker 2: thank you.
- 1:52Speaker 4: I did that. That was me.
- 1:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm just glad that we can now predict yesterday.
- 1:56Speaker 8: I wasn't as comfortable saying things like that. Now I
- 1:59Speaker 8: feel better.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Evan not in its usual seat. It's Paul because Deuce.
- 2:02Speaker 8: Is sick handing the postseason. He's got something.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Going on with his stomach, and we told him to
- 2:07Speaker 2: get the hell out of here because I can't get sick.
- 2:10Speaker 2: So he went home. We sent Deduce home. But the
- 2:14Speaker 2: three of us will hold it down, right.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, the team meets you, Fred.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we won't have a nervous nelly. You have to go.
- 2:24Speaker 4: One o'clock.
- 2:25Speaker 8: Okay, you know what that means, Fred, But we'll have
- 2:32Speaker 8: Mike Rabel at about one ten.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We will he can break up some fight.
- 2:35Speaker 8: We have some other guys going to the podium today too, right,
- 2:37Speaker 8: we do some players.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's a little different feel here, uh this
- 2:42Speaker 2: week obviously because it's the AC Championship build up. We
- 2:45Speaker 2: can you know, you'll see when uh Rabel comes to
- 2:48Speaker 2: the presser, we'll have a different background because you know,
- 2:52Speaker 2: the league has to come in now and and you know,
- 2:55Speaker 2: run things a little bit.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Yeah, they set up the table in the back usually.
- 2:59Speaker 2: So now it's not just hey Mike, it's Mike Evan
- 3:03Speaker 2: Lazar from Patriots dot com. You know, everyone has to
- 3:06Speaker 2: announce themselves now. Is that asked? Are they asked to
- 3:09Speaker 2: do that? Or do the media just decide that I'm
- 3:12Speaker 2: going to do that because more people are watching.
- 3:15Speaker 4: That is definitely less and less common, I would say
- 3:21Speaker 4: it am especially when it's just like the local, like
- 3:24Speaker 4: he knows who all of us are, so I think
- 3:25Speaker 4: there's no reason for us to introduce ourselves. But yeah, no,
- 3:29Speaker 4: I I very rarely hear that. The only time that
- 3:32Speaker 4: I maybe hear it is if for if it's like
- 3:37Speaker 4: a national guy or a road team person or something
- 3:40Speaker 4: like that that he wouldn't be familiar.
- 3:42Speaker 2: No, But like what I'm saying is like this week
- 3:44Speaker 2: in particular.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Oh, they make them do that.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I don't know, but they let's see, I think they
- 3:49Speaker 2: start doing it this.
- 3:50Speaker 4: So it's gonna be like Karen Griggy Mass Live, Yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 4: and he's gonna be like yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So, like, I don't know if the league asks the
- 3:58Speaker 2: media to do it this week, they only do it,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you know during the Super Bowl. I get the Commissioner's thing.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Everybody does it.
- 4:03Speaker 8: Yeah, I think it is a request from the league.
- 4:06Speaker 8: I don't know. To you a point though, if it's
- 4:08Speaker 8: stretches as far as this week, there used to be
- 4:11Speaker 8: a lot more, uh, you know nationally with the conference
- 4:16Speaker 8: title games. I feel like that's kind of.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Dial back. Okay, I don't know, do you I mean.
- 4:22Speaker 8: Do you feel that way, Jeral We haven't.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Been in it for so long, so I don't know.
- 4:27Speaker 4: It's been a long six years.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Good flex, bro.
- 4:31Speaker 8: What this is sixteenth, sixteenth trip to the conference championship
- 4:36Speaker 8: game for the Page franchise history.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Tied for the most.
- 4:41Speaker 8: I think it's tied for the second most San Francisco Pitts.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Maybe. I think the most AFC Championship games.
- 4:49Speaker 8: AFC tied with Pittsburgh. I think the most is San
- 4:52Speaker 8: Francisco with nineteen. But the first first part of the dynasty, Freddy,
- 4:59Speaker 8: I I remember they used to.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Have some of those.
- 5:05Speaker 8: I don't know if they were like SYNCD up, they
- 5:08Speaker 8: would have the teams kind of go back to back.
- 5:11Speaker 8: There was a lot of timing involved with the NFL
- 5:13Speaker 8: network backdrops and all kinds of I think there was more, yeah,
- 5:19Speaker 8: if you recall, and then they had to make a
- 5:22Speaker 8: trip to Pittsburgh in one and then they made a
- 5:25Speaker 8: big deal of it. They actually, i think Brady Belichick say,
- 5:28Speaker 8: lawyer malloy, Yeah, actually flew to Pittsburgh on the Friday
- 5:32Speaker 8: and then they came back. It was weird they could
- 5:35Speaker 8: fly back to the you know, as a team.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Make the visiting team go to the city and do
- 5:40Speaker 2: press conferences the Friday before the game.
- 5:43Speaker 8: That doesn't Yeah, I feel like the first three had
- 5:47Speaker 8: more national imprint than the first three Super Bowls and
- 5:52Speaker 8: the last three Super Bowls.
- 5:53Speaker 4: I wonder how much of that is just like how
- 5:55Speaker 4: accessible these press conferences are now you probably don't need
- 5:59Speaker 4: to do that as much. But the only difference is
- 6:02Speaker 4: really for this week or that some of the players
- 6:05Speaker 4: are going to go talk at the podium, which they
- 6:07Speaker 4: normally don't do. So Stefan Diggs, for example, today will
- 6:10Speaker 4: be at the podium instead of his locker and a scrum.
- 6:13Speaker 4: And then Drake May has to talk twice and Rabel
- 6:16Speaker 4: has to talk three times, right, so that that is different.
- 6:19Speaker 8: Rabel has one extra press conference on Thursday that he
- 6:21Speaker 8: doesn't normally do, and I think Evan's right. I think
- 6:23Speaker 8: that's what the league now does, is, you know, give
- 6:27Speaker 8: me some players at the podium, give me, you know,
- 6:30Speaker 8: an extra day of May and Rabel, And that's rather
- 6:35Speaker 8: than you know, se do you remember that what I'm
- 6:37Speaker 8: talking about, because I don't have the details of it,
- 6:39Speaker 8: but I could swear that NFL network sort of coordinated.
- 6:43Speaker 8: Belichick starts at like twelve men at twelve fifteen, it
- 6:47Speaker 8: goes to I think I'm pretty.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Positive that they will carry the press conference today on
- 6:53Speaker 4: NFL network, So I'm sure the timing had to have
- 6:55Speaker 4: worked out. But this is Rabel's normal time, so I
- 6:58Speaker 4: maybe it's just the case. This is at the Denver
- 7:01Speaker 4: two hour difference, and all that it might have just
- 7:03Speaker 4: wind up that they could do it normally.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Well, speaking of stuff going on, I want to get
- 7:09Speaker 2: this out of the way while everyone's listening, because some
- 7:13Speaker 2: people might tune out. But in Denver, for the fans
- 7:17Speaker 2: on Saturday night, there's a lot going on at a
- 7:22Speaker 2: place called Jackson's Lido, which is in Denver. It's a bar,
- 7:27Speaker 2: and starting at four thirty, it's sort of like a
- 7:30Speaker 2: fan rally. Now this is local time. This is not
- 7:33Speaker 2: this is an Eastern time. This is Denver time. I'm
- 7:35Speaker 2: referring to. Starting at four thirty, come on down free.
- 7:40Speaker 2: You know they'll be uh, David Andrews will be there,
- 7:44Speaker 2: Adam Vinio will be there, you know, all kinds of
- 7:48Speaker 2: all kinds of giveaways, I will we will will be
- 7:51Speaker 2: in the air, all kinds of giveaways. And then at
- 7:55Speaker 2: five o'clock local time, they'll be alive all at says
- 8:00Speaker 2: show from Jackson's Leado, and that'll be from five to six.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And then once the show is over, then the festivities
- 8:09Speaker 2: continue with the giveaways and all that, and David Andrews
- 8:12Speaker 2: and Adam Terry and all that. So you want to
- 8:14Speaker 2: come down, I know an Stone in Pike's Peak Pats Club.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I'm sure we'll be there in force. So that should
- 8:22Speaker 2: be really good starting at four thirty local time in Denver,
- 8:26Speaker 2: go into about six thirty, and of course people will
- 8:28Speaker 2: stay beyond that as well. But that's the place to be.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Jackson's Leado in Denver. And I have another one, Tom
- 8:38Speaker 2: out of London, rights in and he's got let me
- 8:44Speaker 2: see if I have the most recent email from him.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I hope it is. If it isn't, he'll call. But
- 8:50Speaker 2: he's getting everyone together in London at the Goldwood Sports
- 8:55Speaker 2: Pub in London, which is situated right near Bank station.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Uh so he's got a whole bunch of things going
- 9:04Speaker 2: on over there. So you know his group was also
- 9:10Speaker 2: there at the Greenwood a couple of years ago when
- 9:12Speaker 2: we were at the Greenwood, that was a huge event.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So that'll be a good place to watch the game
- 9:18Speaker 2: as well if you're in London at the Goldwood Sports
- 9:21Speaker 2: Pub out there near bank stations. So if anyone has
- 9:25Speaker 2: any other things going on in their area, call in
- 9:29Speaker 2: right in, let let us know and we'll get the
- 9:32Speaker 2: word out on the show.
- 9:34Speaker 4: We got the word out we back.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Huh.
- 9:37Speaker 4: We're going to get the word out that we back.
- 9:39Speaker 2: We're back, absolutely all right. So with that out of
- 9:43Speaker 2: the way, what do we got? What are we what
- 9:45Speaker 2: are we talking about?
- 9:47Speaker 4: Well, I think we're turning the page, right, turn the page,
- 9:50Speaker 4: and you know, we can get into a little bit
- 9:51Speaker 4: about the Broncos. You know, I mentioned some of the
- 9:54Speaker 4: injuries before we started the show. Matt Collins, you know,
- 9:57Speaker 4: is he going to practice today? They can open his window.
- 10:01Speaker 9: Uh.
- 10:01Speaker 4: And then of course Carlton Davis, you know, probably in
- 10:04Speaker 4: the concussion protocol. So those will be two guys we'll
- 10:06Speaker 4: be watching for here.
- 10:08Speaker 5: Uh.
- 10:08Speaker 4: And then there's also a lot going on injury wise,
- 10:10Speaker 4: of course outstandside the quarterback position with Denver too. You know,
- 10:16Speaker 4: a couple of their receivers, their center situations kind of
- 10:19Speaker 4: up in the air right now. JK. Dobbins, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 4: potentially coming back and making a difference. So, uh, there's
- 10:25Speaker 4: some guys that are banged up that were still kind
- 10:28Speaker 4: of figuring out if they're going to be available on Sunday.
- 10:30Speaker 8: I didn't realize that Dobbins was having as productive as
- 10:33Speaker 8: season as it was. Yeah, he's a good player. I
- 10:36Speaker 8: knew he was a good player, but you know that
- 10:38Speaker 8: they ran the balls significantly better when he ran it
- 10:41Speaker 8: than anybody else. Five yards of carries pretty that's pretty
- 10:44Speaker 8: solid average. Yeah, and yeah, you know the Harvey kids
- 10:46Speaker 8: only three point seven.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Yeah, he's much more of a passing game player Carvey.
- 10:51Speaker 4: And you know, I think that that's you know, we
- 10:53Speaker 4: kind of talked about this little bit on catch twenty two,
- 10:55Speaker 4: like when you when you have a backup quarterback, you
- 10:57Speaker 4: don't want him to drop back fifty times like they
- 10:59Speaker 4: did on Sunday with Bo Nicks like that or Saturday.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I keep saying that, like, you don't want that to
- 11:03Speaker 4: be your game plan. But they haven't really been able
- 11:06Speaker 4: to run the ball since Dobbins has gotten hurt. So
- 11:09Speaker 4: does he come back and now all of a sudden
- 11:11Speaker 4: they have this run game again.
- 11:13Speaker 8: To give it defense? Don't they have to give that
- 11:16Speaker 8: a shot?
- 11:17Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 11:17Speaker 8: Like if if there's any possibility. And I know it's
- 11:20Speaker 8: not an ideal situation because he's been out a while.
- 11:22Speaker 8: It's not like, yeah and it's getting married.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It's not like he.
- 11:25Speaker 8: Missed four weeks and his window open like Matt Collins today. Yeah,
- 11:30Speaker 8: he's been out since like November. Yeah, he's been out
- 11:34Speaker 8: a while. I think it was November tenth he went out.
- 11:37Speaker 8: So not an ideal situation. But I think given everything
- 11:40Speaker 8: Evan just said about what Sean Payton's probably thinking about
- 11:44Speaker 8: Jared Stidham, I think you got to roll the dice
- 11:46Speaker 8: and then even if he's seventy five percent, you know,
- 11:50Speaker 8: is it worth it for us to activate him and
- 11:52Speaker 8: see if he can give us some magic in the
- 11:54Speaker 8: run game.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Yeah, they only had ten carries by running backs in
- 11:59Speaker 4: the Divisional you know, bo Knicks ran it twelve times.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I think you had a bunch of like sneaks and
- 12:04Speaker 4: scrambles in there.
- 12:07Speaker 5: Day.
- 12:08Speaker 4: Don't I really have a run game without Dobbins. I
- 12:11Speaker 4: just can't imagine that that's how they are going to
- 12:13Speaker 4: want to play with Stidham. You know, I'm sure they're
- 12:15Speaker 4: going to want to try to balance it out.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they're probably gonna want They should anyway, even if
- 12:19Speaker 2: bo Knicks was there. But a lot of people are
- 12:23Speaker 2: catching on to what I've been saying in that this
- 12:25Speaker 2: is going to be a tough game. I've heard more people.
- 12:28Speaker 2: They must have been listening to the show, because more
- 12:31Speaker 2: of the media analysts is saying, no, this is this
- 12:34Speaker 2: is going to be a tough game for the Patriots.
- 12:35Speaker 8: I have an off air theory about that, but I'm
- 12:37Speaker 8: not going to show.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Okay, all right, it does behoove the media to hype
- 12:40Speaker 4: up the game so people pay attention to it.
- 12:43Speaker 8: There's one that's absolutely true.
- 12:45Speaker 4: But I think the part that I am trying to
- 12:49Speaker 4: figure out is is there a path for Denver to
- 12:53Speaker 4: win a straight up football game, not one where Drake
- 12:55Speaker 4: may turns it over five times?
- 12:57Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:58Speaker 4: And you know if any team turns the ball five times,
- 13:00Speaker 4: they're probably gonna lose. Right, That's like everybody knows that.
- 13:04Speaker 4: I'm talking about a conventional run of the mill or
- 13:08Speaker 4: let's just say the turnover Martins even you know, kind
- 13:11Speaker 4: of like it was on Sunday against the Texans.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Turnover dge. It wasn't even in that game.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Yeah, but are the opportunities for turnover?
- 13:18Speaker 2: And your guys was on one of Paul's shows this
- 13:22Speaker 2: morning and Mark Daniels, and he was saying that this
- 13:25Speaker 2: game is really about what the Patriots do or don't do.
- 13:29Speaker 4: You know, it's about the Patriots.
- 13:30Speaker 2: It's about the Patriots.
- 13:31Speaker 8: I disagree, So I disagree with that too, I'm with you.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Sure obviously if Drake May plays lights out or pass
- 13:38Speaker 2: the game he had last.
- 13:39Speaker 8: Yes, and so what was it and so what does
- 13:40Speaker 8: that mean for Denver?
- 13:42Speaker 2: Well, how good is Denver's defense?
- 13:44Speaker 8: That means the Denver defense didn't play well?
- 13:46Speaker 2: Possibly?
- 13:47Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 8: So like Fred and I like we're lockstep on this,
- 13:51Speaker 8: and we've talked about this for years. Like everybody always
- 13:53Speaker 8: says that it's like, well, if they play well, they'll win. Well,
- 13:56Speaker 8: that means the other team didn't play well, right, Like
- 13:58Speaker 8: it's it's it's pretty simple, like there's no way Denver
- 14:01Speaker 8: played as well as they can play. If Drake May
- 14:04Speaker 8: goes out and throws four touchdowns in three hundred and
- 14:06Speaker 8: fifty yards, their defense is going to look and say,
- 14:08Speaker 8: Patrick Satan is going to say, we didn't do way
- 14:10Speaker 8: well today.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yeah, you know.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So it's not just about you. No, there's another team
- 14:15Speaker 2: on the field that wants it just as much as
- 14:17Speaker 2: you do. And my point in this game is that
- 14:20Speaker 2: the other team that wants it just as much as
- 14:22Speaker 2: you do is a good team with a good coach.
- 14:25Speaker 2: You combine those two things and oftentimes they overcome the
- 14:30Speaker 2: adversity like losing their quarterback. So just be careful about that, folks.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Just you know, when it's a tight game in the
- 14:37Speaker 2: second quarter, don't freak out.
- 14:39Speaker 8: I want to have him to finish this point about
- 14:41Speaker 8: the path to a straight up victory.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Yeah, So I'm trying to think because like, obviously you
- 14:46Speaker 4: could sit here and say, if Jaredsenden manages the game
- 14:49Speaker 4: offensively and the defense does his thing for Denver, they
- 14:53Speaker 4: can win the game. But even that, like I still
- 14:57Speaker 4: feel like I'm still hoping that Jared's gonna make some
- 15:01Speaker 4: hero ball plays at the end of the game that
- 15:02Speaker 4: Drake may doesn't, which like, if I'm Denver, I don't
- 15:05Speaker 4: think that that's happening, right, So, like, I just I
- 15:09Speaker 4: have a tough time imagining a Denver win if the
- 15:13Speaker 4: game is conventional, not a turnover fest type game.
- 15:18Speaker 2: And so, and I happen to agree with you.
- 15:20Speaker 4: I just don't know where they go. And you know,
- 15:22Speaker 4: just trying to get ready for this game on our end,
- 15:25Speaker 4: like researching it and stuff. It's the only thing that
- 15:28Speaker 4: makes me anxious about it is that there's so little
- 15:32Speaker 4: Jared's Didham tape and it's like, what, what, how is
- 15:36Speaker 4: seam Payton going to call the offense. What plays are
- 15:39Speaker 4: they going to run? What kind of offense are they
- 15:41Speaker 4: going to be? Like, what's their philosophy? Are they going
- 15:44Speaker 4: to be able to run the ball? And the thing
- 15:46Speaker 4: I keep coming back to is this is the best
- 15:49Speaker 4: offensive line the Patriots have faced the entire playoffs by
- 15:52Speaker 4: a wide margin. They have two first team All Pros
- 15:55Speaker 4: on their offensive line. If I'm Denver, like, that's how
- 15:58Speaker 4: I'm trying to win this game. We're gonna win it
- 16:01Speaker 4: with a run game. We're gonna protect Jared's Didham. We're
- 16:03Speaker 4: going to keep him clean, and we'll take our chances
- 16:06Speaker 4: with him from clean pockets. So can the Patriots continue
- 16:10Speaker 4: to dominate the line of scrimmage like they have the
- 16:12Speaker 4: first two weeks against a much much better offensive line.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Rabel said that, you know, in the past,
- 16:22Speaker 2: he's done a lot of work on Jared's Didham, Like,
- 16:25Speaker 2: you know, he's fairly familiar with him to the degree
- 16:28Speaker 2: that you can because he doesn't have a lot of
- 16:30Speaker 2: pro tape, but in terms of you know, what he
- 16:33Speaker 2: did in college, what he's done in the pros, he
- 16:38Speaker 2: feels like he's pretty familiar with him.
- 16:40Speaker 4: So I think he's got you know, just on Stidham,
- 16:43Speaker 4: he's got arm talent. I don't think that this is
- 16:46Speaker 4: a guy that you know, is incapable of pushing the
- 16:49Speaker 4: ball down the field. I don't think he's a statue.
- 16:53Speaker 4: But I don't think he's mobile either. He's somewhere in
- 16:56Speaker 4: between those two things. So from a bow Knicks to
- 16:59Speaker 4: Jared's didamter.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Or worse runner than Joe Burrow? Worse? Yes?
- 17:05Speaker 4: But the from Boknicks to Jared Sidham, the biggest difference
- 17:10Speaker 4: is that bo Nicks is an athlete. So Bnicks can
- 17:12Speaker 4: run around not only by design, but he also runs
- 17:15Speaker 4: around and extends plays with his legs. So to me,
- 17:19Speaker 4: like most of that kind of gets thrown out now.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I think Jaredsidham can still roll out the pocket, like,
- 17:26Speaker 4: I'm sure that they can still run their bootleg plays
- 17:28Speaker 4: and stuff like that with him, which is a big
- 17:29Speaker 4: part of their offense. But you're not going to get
- 17:32Speaker 4: the scrambles, you're not going to get bo Nicks bouncing
- 17:35Speaker 4: around back there and buying time. You're not going to
- 17:37Speaker 4: get that whole thing that they've really relied a ton
- 17:42Speaker 4: on offensively.
- 17:43Speaker 2: But do we know that for sure? Yes, you know
- 17:46Speaker 2: because like when have we really seen him, I don't know.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Like he's Bonnix. I think that's his best part of
- 17:53Speaker 4: his game.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I know.
- 17:54Speaker 8: But whether or not a guy can run, you don't
- 17:56Speaker 8: need to see him play in the pros, Like if
- 17:59Speaker 8: a guy comes out of has like a scrambling off
- 18:02Speaker 8: platform kind of you know, like Patrick Mahomes. I didn't
- 18:04Speaker 8: need to see him play for the Chief to know
- 18:06Speaker 8: that he could do that. Yeah, and he played, he
- 18:08Speaker 8: did it at Texas Tech.
- 18:09Speaker 4: I just think that that's also something that bo Nicks
- 18:12Speaker 4: trying to give him some credit. Bo Nicks does at
- 18:14Speaker 4: a very very high level. Yeah, he is a very
- 18:16Speaker 4: nimble athlete. He throws from different platforms, arm angles, he's
- 18:21Speaker 4: got a nice release on the move. Like, he's very
- 18:24Speaker 4: good at that, and there's no way that Stidham is
- 18:26Speaker 4: going to be able to replicate it at that level.
- 18:29Speaker 8: I like you, Joe Burrow thing right that you threw
- 18:31Speaker 8: out there like better you know. Yeah, And I think
- 18:34Speaker 8: that because I think Joe Burrow is a much better
- 18:37Speaker 8: athlete than he's ever always giving credit for runner. I
- 18:40Speaker 8: think he is a good runner with the ball. I
- 18:42Speaker 8: don't I like the way Evan also described it like
- 18:45Speaker 8: he's not a statue, but he's not bow Nicks, like
- 18:47Speaker 8: he's somewhere in.
- 18:48Speaker 2: The middle there.
- 18:49Speaker 8: I think they will be able to do the Sean
- 18:51Speaker 8: Payton rollouts with him. I think he has shown some
- 18:54Speaker 8: ability to throw the ball in the run and he
- 18:55Speaker 8: will tuck it and run it when he had So
- 18:58Speaker 8: there's one game that he played in that if you
- 19:00Speaker 8: want to get yourself all in Fred's camp and be
- 19:03Speaker 8: all scared, he played well. Go back and look at
- 19:06Speaker 8: a game when he was on the Raiders late in
- 19:09Speaker 8: the season. They played a game against the Niners. The
- 19:11Speaker 8: Niners were loaded at the time, Evans Niners with Kyle Shanahan.
- 19:15Speaker 8: There were twelve and fourteen, and he gave the Niners
- 19:19Speaker 8: all they could handle. That was a really good defense.
- 19:22Speaker 8: He threw for over well over three hundred yards. He
- 19:24Speaker 8: also ran for about forty yards in that game. So
- 19:27Speaker 8: he's not a statue. He can move around. There's a
- 19:30Speaker 8: highlight clip that I watched earlier in the week where
- 19:32Speaker 8: he's rolling out, throwing on the run, throwing off platform,
- 19:36Speaker 8: doing some things. Now, I also think the receivers were
- 19:38Speaker 8: wildly open in that game. So I don't know if
- 19:43Speaker 8: San Francisco just didn't play well that day. If there
- 19:46Speaker 8: was some fluky plays that the Raiders made. But if
- 19:50Speaker 8: you want to get yourself scared, like Fred, well listen,
- 19:53Speaker 8: go and watch that, and then I'm not scared.
- 19:56Speaker 2: What I'm trying to do is help fans avoid the
- 19:59Speaker 2: trap game. The Patriots.
- 20:01Speaker 8: Sans don't need to do that.
- 20:02Speaker 2: Yes they do, the Patriots, I'm not. I'm not worried
- 20:05Speaker 2: about them getting falling into the traps. I'm worried about
- 20:09Speaker 2: the fans falling into the trap. This this could be
- 20:11Speaker 2: a trap game for Patriots fans.
- 20:13Speaker 8: I don't worry about the fans mindset going on my games.
- 20:17Speaker 8: I just it doesn't really impact the game.
- 20:19Speaker 2: In twenty eighteen in Minnesota on the Not Done Network,
- 20:22Speaker 2: I sat there and said, there is no way that
- 20:25Speaker 2: Nick Foles will win this game.
- 20:27Speaker 4: But that's a different as you think that had something
- 20:30Speaker 4: to do with losing.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I'm just saying I fell into the track. I didn't
- 20:34Speaker 2: even think I fell into the traft.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So what I fell in the trap?
- 20:38Speaker 8: But we all listen, We're all asked to talk about
- 20:41Speaker 8: these games and make predictions, right.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I hate the predictions.
- 20:44Speaker 8: We all make bad predictions. If we all, like I
- 20:46Speaker 8: say all the time, if I knew them. But if
- 20:49Speaker 8: I knew what was going to happen in these games,
- 20:50Speaker 8: I would have resigned long ago and I'd be making
- 20:53Speaker 8: my living.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I know, you know, bag, I'm just trying to help
- 20:56Speaker 2: people avoid making bad choice.
- 20:59Speaker 8: I agree with Evan if this game is even in
- 21:01Speaker 8: other words, there's no turnovers in this game, zeros are
- 21:05Speaker 8: I'm not even going to say like two to two,
- 21:06Speaker 8: because now I need to know what the turnovers result in.
- 21:09Speaker 8: So the Patriots two turnovers result in touchdowns for the Broncos,
- 21:12Speaker 8: and the Patriots two result in nothing, like you know,
- 21:15Speaker 8: So I'm just saying no one turns the ball over.
- 21:18Speaker 8: I do not see a path that the Broncos can
- 21:20Speaker 8: win this game. If the Patriots go and just write
- 21:23Speaker 8: protect the football, yeah and play regular offense, they will
- 21:27Speaker 8: move the ball against this defense and score more than
- 21:30Speaker 8: enough points that Jared Stidham will not be able to
- 21:32Speaker 8: catch up. I saw someone in Denver say, best case scenario,
- 21:35Speaker 8: Denver gets to seventeen. That's not going to be enough
- 21:38Speaker 8: to win this game unless the Patriots offense is continues
- 21:43Speaker 8: to be sloppy with the ball the way they have
- 21:45Speaker 8: been in the first two playoff games. I don't think
- 21:47Speaker 8: that will continue now. I didn't think we continue the
- 21:49Speaker 8: last game, and it did so again, we all make
- 21:52Speaker 8: bad predictions, yep, but I have a lot of confidence
- 21:57Speaker 8: that the Patriots offense will look more like it did
- 21:59Speaker 8: in the rag season and less like it has in
- 22:02Speaker 8: the playoffs.
- 22:02Speaker 2: In this game. Weather reports so far is supposed to
- 22:05Speaker 2: get cold, pretty cold but dry.
- 22:08Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I saw that kind of changed. It was
- 22:10Speaker 8: supposed to be pretty mild in Denburgh and now I
- 22:13Speaker 8: just saw someone sent me something this morning staying it
- 22:15Speaker 8: was going to be really really cold, like thirties. Well
- 22:18Speaker 8: I heard, I heard like teens.
- 22:20Speaker 2: So it depends on what time you're looking at it,
- 22:22Speaker 2: when the sun goes.
- 22:24Speaker 8: I don't know who this is from, Somber.
- 22:26Speaker 4: It's a it's a one o'clock local time kickoff, so
- 22:31Speaker 4: it's going to be right. The game is going to
- 22:32Speaker 4: be right in the middle of the day, so it's
- 22:34Speaker 4: not right.
- 22:35Speaker 5: I don't.
- 22:36Speaker 4: I don't. I saw like thirty five, so.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I'm seeing highs of thirties, loads of fifteen, right, but
- 22:41Speaker 2: the low is going to be a night. Yeah. The
- 22:43Speaker 2: question is win or the low. So now I'm going
- 22:45Speaker 2: to my hourly part of my app. This is great
- 22:49Speaker 2: because there is an app for this.
- 22:50Speaker 4: You have like a song.
- 22:51Speaker 2: So the game starts locally at one o'clock, right, yes, sir,
- 22:55Speaker 2: it'll be twenty eight degrees at that time, and it
- 22:58Speaker 2: will get no lower than twenty four according to this.
- 23:03Speaker 2: But that was that's the colder than it was two
- 23:05Speaker 2: days ago.
- 23:06Speaker 4: It was, so it would see I think, you know,
- 23:09Speaker 4: it's dry, which is good. And then obviously you I
- 23:12Speaker 4: don't know about the patterns in the stadium, but you know,
- 23:14Speaker 4: wind I think is a big part. I think the
- 23:17Speaker 4: wind really influenced both quarterbacks in the Chargers game. In
- 23:20Speaker 4: the Wildcard round game, I think the win was an issue.
- 23:23Speaker 4: So we'll see what happens with that. But you know,
- 23:26Speaker 4: the Denver defense is a very different test than the
- 23:31Speaker 4: one that they just faced. Like Houston is more of
- 23:33Speaker 4: like a structured defense, like we kind of run our
- 23:37Speaker 4: scheme and merged sound and we have great players within
- 23:40Speaker 4: the scheme and that sort of thing. This defense is
- 23:44Speaker 4: much more aggressive and they cook it up a lot more,
- 23:47Speaker 4: they blitz a lot more, they spin the dial log.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So Sully, the die hard Patriots fans says, you know,
- 23:52Speaker 2: there's a lot of chatter out there the Stidium is
- 23:54Speaker 2: good enough to win this game, and I'm not buying it.
- 23:56Speaker 2: He's with Paul. Let's flip the script. What chance would
- 23:59Speaker 2: bront fans feel the Patriots would have against them with
- 24:03Speaker 2: Nick's healthy and we had to start Josh Dobbs. I
- 24:05Speaker 2: can hear the laughter all the way in Virginia.
- 24:07Speaker 8: I would give the Patriots very little shot to win
- 24:09Speaker 8: that game too.
- 24:10Speaker 2: But don't is Dobbs as good as did them?
- 24:13Speaker 4: I think it might be better?
- 24:15Speaker 2: You think so?
- 24:15Speaker 8: I mean his NFL resume is definitely more extensive.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I don't know.
- 24:24Speaker 2: I can't.
- 24:24Speaker 4: I couldn't tell you because I.
- 24:26Speaker 8: Did find that weather thing that I saw and it
- 24:28Speaker 8: doesn't necessarily say temperature, it says wolf. This is true
- 24:32Speaker 8: arctic stuff for this weekend for Denver. Eastern Colorado going
- 24:35Speaker 8: to be brutally cool for the AOC title game this weekend.
- 24:37Speaker 8: This is from a guy named Chris Biyanki biyonkey Weather.
- 24:42Speaker 8: I don't know if that's like he's a like old
- 24:44Speaker 8: mediaorology just Y Weather. That's what I'm saying. Like he
- 24:47Speaker 8: does it on his own right, I don't know. I
- 24:49Speaker 8: don't know what that is, and we'll see.
- 24:52Speaker 2: But also Sally said, two years off not facing NFL
- 24:54Speaker 2: regular season game, speed, not being all that familiar with
- 24:57Speaker 2: the receivers in Josh McDaniel's intimate familiarity with Stidham and
- 25:01Speaker 2: his game are a major problem for the Broncos. And
- 25:04Speaker 2: it doesn't seem anyone is really giving credence to them.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I mean, they're all good points.
- 25:09Speaker 4: What no one's giving credence to I think that's all
- 25:11Speaker 4: we're talking about, right, This.
- 25:15Speaker 8: Is I know, I knew that, but as the week
- 25:17Speaker 8: went on, somehow they would try to make it out
- 25:19Speaker 8: to be like again, the little Engine that could. So
- 25:22Speaker 8: they're five and a half point favorite on the road
- 25:24Speaker 8: in the AFC Tyler Game. Never has a road team
- 25:28Speaker 8: been a bigger favorite in a conference championship game period.
- 25:32Speaker 8: As you kids like to say, that's it, that's the tweet,
- 25:35Speaker 8: that's ends tweet. Really it never has a team this
- 25:39Speaker 8: big of a road road favorite. There's been Patriots have
- 25:42Speaker 8: had AFC championship games here that they've been bigger favorites in.
- 25:47Speaker 8: Never has a team been favored by more than five
- 25:49Speaker 8: and a half points on the road in a conference
- 25:51Speaker 8: championship game. That's how much people giving Jared Sidham a chance.
- 25:55Speaker 1: They're not.
- 25:56Speaker 8: People aren't giving Jared Cidham a chance to win this game,
- 25:59Speaker 8: I think, except for Fred.
- 26:00Speaker 2: That's right. You watch you know, listen to me. I've
- 26:05Speaker 2: helped a lot of you all season long. Don't don't
- 26:09Speaker 2: stop listening now, I hate stop listening. Well, the Patriots win, Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 2: I'm giving I'm giving away.
- 26:15Speaker 8: My part about Mark Daniels that I would agree with
- 26:18Speaker 8: is if the Patriots lose the game, it's going to
- 26:21Speaker 8: have more to do with the Patriots than Denver.
- 26:23Speaker 2: That I will agree with.
- 26:25Speaker 8: And I always give a team of punchers chance to
- 26:27Speaker 8: win the game. But it's what Evan said. Evan articulated
- 26:31Speaker 8: it perfectly. If you go out there and you're sloppy
- 26:34Speaker 8: with the ball and you give the other team points,
- 26:36Speaker 8: you know, maybe Marvin Mims returns a punt for a touchdown.
- 26:39Speaker 8: Marvin Mims is almost as dangerous as Marcus Jones is
- 26:41Speaker 8: a punt return. Yeah, they're both very very good. But
- 26:45Speaker 8: to me, that's you breaking that to cooperate. Yeah, that's
- 26:49Speaker 8: you breaking down for that to happen.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I don't know. I think with Stidham
- 26:55Speaker 4: to like, I also just give a lot of credence
- 26:58Speaker 4: to how good the Patriots defense is playing right now.
- 27:00Speaker 5: Yep.
- 27:01Speaker 4: And you know, I highly doubt that they're going to
- 27:03Speaker 4: do anything really all that differently than what they probably
- 27:06Speaker 4: would have done with Bonnicks in terms of like, I
- 27:09Speaker 4: don't think they're going to outsmart themselves and go away
- 27:11Speaker 4: from what's been working with their their defense and with
- 27:13Speaker 4: the game plans that they've been running. I fully expect
- 27:16Speaker 4: them to come after him, just like they came after Stroud,
- 27:19Speaker 4: and they came after Herbert, And this is a guy
- 27:21Speaker 4: that hasn't seen a live rush in the NFL in
- 27:23Speaker 4: two years. So, like, you know, I just that I
- 27:26Speaker 4: think is more. It's just as much about that to
- 27:29Speaker 4: me as it is about Stidham individually.
- 27:31Speaker 8: I want to keep talking about that in a second,
- 27:34Speaker 8: but I just this is what I get back to.
- 27:37Speaker 8: It's like, how the Patriots defense is playing so far
- 27:40Speaker 8: in the playoffs. I think that's a great point. I
- 27:43Speaker 8: also would look at how Denver's defense has played down
- 27:46Speaker 8: the stretch and the one playoff game. It's not the
- 27:49Speaker 8: same defense that played the first half of the year.
- 27:52Speaker 2: That's that's true.
- 27:53Speaker 8: If they were playing Houston's defense again this week, Yeah,
- 27:56Speaker 8: then that would go with all of you. Hey, don't
- 27:59Speaker 8: don't eliminate chances with Jared didn't because I agree with you,
- 28:02Speaker 8: Fran I think you said this yesterday. He's probably gonna
- 28:05Speaker 8: play better than c. J. Stroud did. Ooh yeah, because
- 28:09Speaker 8: you can't play any worse than that. Yeah, I mean
- 28:11Speaker 8: there was a reason why that was his historically bad
- 28:13Speaker 8: performance in the playoffs. So if the Broncos defense steps
- 28:19Speaker 8: forward and plays like they did, say maybe in Week two,
- 28:22Speaker 8: you know who knows, and you know we're gonna go
- 28:25Speaker 8: with trends. Right, we're talking about how well the Patriots
- 28:28Speaker 8: defense is played. I agree with you ev talking about,
- 28:30Speaker 8: you know, how sort of mid the Broncos defense has
- 28:33Speaker 8: been lately. Maybe the Patriots offense continues to play like
- 28:37Speaker 8: it has in the postseason. Yeah, I don't think that
- 28:40Speaker 8: will happen. So you might say, oh, what a Homer fraud,
- 28:43Speaker 8: And I think they feel I'd be guilty of that.
- 28:45Speaker 8: I've watched Drake May all year. I don't think he's
- 28:47Speaker 8: gonna fumble four more times.
- 28:49Speaker 4: They feel kind of due to have a better offensive game.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, and.
- 28:52Speaker 8: Again that might be me being a home right, I'm
- 28:55Speaker 8: okay with that.
- 28:56Speaker 4: They do feel kind of due for that, and you know,
- 28:58Speaker 4: I think that if I was the Patriots though, like
- 29:03Speaker 4: with Stidham, I think that you play this game and
- 29:08Speaker 4: you just throw the kitchen sink of disguises at him
- 29:11Speaker 4: and you just nothing's the same as the last play.
- 29:14Speaker 4: You know, I think you need to mix up your coverages,
- 29:16Speaker 4: mix up your shells, you know, too high one high
- 29:18Speaker 4: man zone. I'd probably play a little bit more zone
- 29:21Speaker 4: in this game than they have been because I want
- 29:23Speaker 4: eyes on the quarterback because I think he's going to
- 29:25Speaker 4: try to he might throw you a couple if you
- 29:28Speaker 4: see it coming. I'd also test, like when you play
- 29:31Speaker 4: zone now, the receiver and the quarterback have to be
- 29:34Speaker 4: on the same page, like I'm sitting here, you know,
- 29:36Speaker 4: cutting there. And you know, he hasn't really repped with
- 29:39Speaker 4: these receivers a whole lot because he's been the backup,
- 29:43Speaker 4: you know. So I think all these things that I'm
- 29:46Speaker 4: describing are all things they've been doing.
- 29:48Speaker 2: What's more likely games over by halftime or it comes
- 29:51Speaker 2: down to the last possession, games over by halftime, So.
- 29:55Speaker 4: The Patriots like usually run away in the third quarter.
- 29:58Speaker 4: So that's like.
- 30:00Speaker 8: It was twenty one ten at the half Sunday.
- 30:02Speaker 4: That's true, but that's not over.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Oh to me, it is, I know, But twenty one
- 30:06Speaker 2: sixteen did I know you? So? Yeah, it was. I know.
- 30:09Speaker 8: It's like not nod over.
- 30:11Speaker 4: It was over when Kishan Budi caught that touchdown, that
- 30:14Speaker 4: was the nod.
- 30:15Speaker 8: Yeah, but I would you know what I'm saying, Fred,
- 30:18Speaker 8: Like when they were up twenty one ten at the half,
- 30:20Speaker 8: you didn't think there was much of a chance they
- 30:22Speaker 8: were going to lose. No, but it's not over. Yeah,
- 30:24Speaker 8: I mean absolutely.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Whenever I've been I've watched these games for a long time,
- 30:29Speaker 2: whenever the Patriots defense is playing really well, and I
- 30:32Speaker 2: go back to the first part of the Dynasty three
- 30:34Speaker 2: oh four and even that last Super Bowl that they won.
- 30:38Speaker 2: When the defense is playing well, I have a sense
- 30:40Speaker 2: of what would the score needs to be because I
- 30:44Speaker 2: know that, you know, you know, when it's back and
- 30:46Speaker 2: forth like other games, then I have the white knuckles.
- 30:49Speaker 2: But when the Patriots defense is playing now, I have
- 30:52Speaker 2: a lot of confidence.
- 30:53Speaker 8: What would would need to be For you guys, you'll
- 30:56Speaker 8: just be nervous the whole time.
- 30:57Speaker 4: No, I I when it's a defensive game like that,
- 31:00Speaker 4: all it takes is one one.
- 31:02Speaker 2: I need three scores and I'll be good.
- 31:04Speaker 8: A three score lead at halftime, and you'll say that
- 31:06Speaker 8: that's the definition.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Over because they're going to be one dimensional second half
- 31:10Speaker 2: and we're going to teach.
- 31:12Speaker 8: Now we're thinking, if we're up, say twenty one to
- 31:14Speaker 8: seven at the half, Jared Stidham's going to lead a
- 31:17Speaker 8: fourteen points second half comeback. Like, I'm sorry, the game
- 31:20Speaker 8: is all.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Let's just say that they defer, they get the if
- 31:23Speaker 2: they go down the field second half and now it's
- 31:25Speaker 2: twenty one to fourteen game on, all it takes is
- 31:28Speaker 2: one turn over.
- 31:29Speaker 8: All it takes I know, like I know, technically the
- 31:32Speaker 8: game rights over.
- 31:33Speaker 2: There's still enough possessions. Three scores. Well, I don't.
- 31:37Speaker 8: Know if then, I mean, if they're down three scores
- 31:39Speaker 8: and Denver gets the ball because don scores, now it's
- 31:41Speaker 8: only two scores, and if they fumble when they run
- 31:42Speaker 8: it back and.
- 31:43Speaker 2: The like, now by that time time becomes a factor,
- 31:47Speaker 2: so and they get urgent, they get antsia.
- 31:49Speaker 8: I just think if you get a lead in this game,
- 31:51Speaker 8: it's game, set match, any lead pretty much, if you
- 31:54Speaker 8: make them chase the way everybody's had to chase the
- 31:56Speaker 8: Patriots in the twenty twenty five season, the backup quarterback
- 32:00Speaker 8: is not going to do that.
- 32:02Speaker 4: It's not I always. I'm like, maybe it's just because
- 32:06Speaker 4: I tend to favor the offense a little bit more.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Inducesn't here it offset me. But like when it's like
- 32:11Speaker 4: the game, like the Charger game, like all it takes
- 32:14Speaker 4: is one Quinton Johnson bomb.
- 32:15Speaker 8: So I would agree with you that game was unnerving
- 32:18Speaker 8: throughout the second half, right because felt the Patriots were
- 32:21Speaker 8: in control. But you're right, as like when it's nine
- 32:23Speaker 8: to three, all it takes is one guy falling.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Down, right, the guy falls down covered busted coverage. You know,
- 32:30Speaker 4: Quinton Johnson gets over the top. You know, Courtlandon Moss
- 32:34Speaker 4: is the guy. Like all it takes is one of
- 32:36Speaker 4: those types of things happening in a game like that.
- 32:39Speaker 4: When the Patriots offense is cooking and Drake May is
- 32:41Speaker 4: putting points on the board, that's when I feel like
- 32:44Speaker 4: they're not going to lose today. And we haven't seen
- 32:47Speaker 4: that yet in the playoffs, and I do kind of
- 32:49Speaker 4: feel like he's a little bit due for that kind
- 32:51Speaker 4: of game.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I like it, and I hope it happens.
- 32:54Speaker 8: I'm with Evan a lot on these kinds of scenarios
- 32:58Speaker 8: because when it's sort of a shootout, you always feel like,
- 33:03Speaker 8: you know, like I was watching the Buffalo the Buffalo
- 33:06Speaker 8: Denver game, and as Buffalo's like moving the ball and
- 33:12Speaker 8: then taking the lead, like you never once did you
- 33:14Speaker 8: think like, oh, that's it they got you know, they
- 33:16Speaker 8: just came from thirteen points down, they got the lead.
- 33:18Speaker 8: Now the game's over. No, you figure it's the NFL.
- 33:20Speaker 8: The other team's going to get the ball, they're going
- 33:22Speaker 8: to get out on score. And then when Denver went
- 33:23Speaker 8: down and scored, Never did I think, well that's it.
- 33:25Speaker 8: There's only a minute laugh, They're up right, No, you know,
- 33:28Speaker 8: like it's one of those offensive games that you never
- 33:31Speaker 8: You're never going to feel like it's over until you
- 33:33Speaker 8: can control the ball in the clock. Yeah, whereas those
- 33:35Speaker 8: defensive games, all it takes is one play, one play
- 33:39Speaker 8: to dramatically impact the outcome.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Paul mccollony says, as bad as Drake may played in
- 33:44Speaker 2: as little offense that we had, the Patriots still drove
- 33:47Speaker 2: the field three times made three great plays to score touchdowns.
- 33:49Speaker 2: It's not like the Texans completely shut them down. I
- 33:51Speaker 2: have confidence that we will be able to outscore the Broncos.
- 33:55Speaker 8: So that's really not correct. The Patriots in that game
- 34:00Speaker 8: had two hundred and forty eight yards of offense. That's
- 34:02Speaker 8: not driving, that's not like, that's not good. My guess
- 34:07Speaker 8: is that's the lowest total they had all year. Two
- 34:09Speaker 8: hundred and forty eight yards of offense.
- 34:11Speaker 4: It's good against that defense.
- 34:12Speaker 8: Three No, but I'm saying, like, let's not make this
- 34:15Speaker 8: out to be anything more than it was. The Texans
- 34:18Speaker 8: defense dominated Patriots on hundred percent in the game. I
- 34:21Speaker 8: think that what we say, six or seven three and outs. Yeah,
- 34:24Speaker 8: like the Patriots may I'll give Drake may In the
- 34:27Speaker 8: three receivers that caught the three touchdowns credit for those
- 34:30Speaker 8: three individual plays. They did not drive the field with
- 34:33Speaker 8: any degree of consistency. I think they'll be much better
- 34:36Speaker 8: this weekend.
- 34:36Speaker 5: Deb they had the.
- 34:37Speaker 4: One, the one that ended with Diggs's touchdown, was the
- 34:40Speaker 4: one kind of drive that they were able to string
- 34:43Speaker 4: some passes together. They hit those slants to slants.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it was literally.
- 34:47Speaker 4: A slant slant slant all the way down the field.
- 34:50Speaker 4: And then you know, I give them credit for the
- 34:52Speaker 4: backed up drive to in the fourth quarter. I mean,
- 34:54Speaker 4: truing off six minutes of the clock. There was big
- 34:56Speaker 4: That's where a lot of the yards came from. Yeah,
- 34:58Speaker 4: they probably moved the ball fifty yards on that drive.
- 35:01Speaker 4: It was a big drive and it was kind of
- 35:03Speaker 4: a little bit game over at that point. But I
- 35:05Speaker 4: agree with you, And that's the one that Rabel called it.
- 35:07Speaker 4: You know, a real classy drives class that's Bevan said
- 35:11Speaker 4: it yesterday. I don't care about how many yards you
- 35:13Speaker 4: run for, but can you run when you have the
- 35:15Speaker 4: lead in the fourth quarter and you're trying to just
- 35:17Speaker 4: grind the clock out?
- 35:18Speaker 2: And they did. Speaking of running the ball, Michelle, who
- 35:20Speaker 2: loves it when I call her Shlata, said she I
- 35:23Speaker 2: watched the Bills Broncos, and even though we don't have
- 35:26Speaker 2: a James Cook at running back who ran for one
- 35:28Speaker 2: hundred and seventeen yards, it looked to me like the
- 35:30Speaker 2: Broncos had a somewhat leaky run defense. Can we expect
- 35:33Speaker 2: a decent run game or was it merely Cook being
- 35:36Speaker 2: so freaking good? Oh and the circus apparently made a
- 35:39Speaker 2: pit stop in Buffalo today. We should talk about that later.
- 35:42Speaker 4: Yeah, the run game, you know, that is spoiler. This
- 35:46Speaker 4: is what my preview will be a lot about. I
- 35:49Speaker 4: think it's that kind of game. I got to read
- 35:51Speaker 4: that you do. Yeah, actually, I was going to mention that.
- 35:55Speaker 2: It's all about that. It's definitely that kind of game.
- 36:00Speaker 4: If there's one sort of weakness, it's not necessarily there
- 36:04Speaker 4: in the stats, but they are a little bit undersized defensively,
- 36:07Speaker 4: especially on the defensive line. Their defensive line is definitely
- 36:11Speaker 4: more built to rush the passer than it is to
- 36:13Speaker 4: stop the run. I think the guy that they out
- 36:16Speaker 4: of the guys that they play, DJ Jones is three
- 36:19Speaker 4: h five. He's the biggest guy that they have, you know.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Zach Allen is a two eighty two ninety you know
- 36:26Speaker 4: kind of defensive tackle. Nick Bonito is and Jonathan Cooper
- 36:29Speaker 4: on the smaller side as well. Their numbers against the
- 36:32Speaker 4: runner have been good all year. It's not like a
- 36:35Speaker 4: Buffalo situation where they're great against the pass and horrible
- 36:38Speaker 4: against the run. But in a matchup like this, you know,
- 36:41Speaker 4: I would agree that getting Drake may under center running
- 36:46Speaker 4: the football, maybe running it out of some of those
- 36:48Speaker 4: six zero line packages and then trying to open up
- 36:51Speaker 4: the passing game with play action. That seems to be
- 36:54Speaker 4: the formula that Buffalo used, and I think the Patriots
- 36:57Speaker 4: can come close enough. They don't have Buffalo's offensive line,
- 37:00Speaker 4: they don't have James Cook, but their run game has
- 37:02Speaker 4: been good enough down the stretch here that I think
- 37:04Speaker 4: that they can pretty much replicate it.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Barton Poland has some troubling news. Yeah, he says, since
- 37:10Speaker 2: the merger playoff home underdogs, the four plus points are
- 37:14Speaker 2: nine to oh against the spread. But that is correct.
- 37:19Speaker 2: But what are they in overall? Like, you know, I think.
- 37:22Speaker 4: I think in nineteen seventy five happened.
- 37:24Speaker 8: I think spreads this big. They're two and two and three.
- 37:28Speaker 8: The favorite is two and two and three overall, so
- 37:32Speaker 8: they Yeah, they still have.
- 37:33Speaker 2: A losing record.
- 37:34Speaker 8: Yeah, it's rare to be this big of an UH
- 37:39Speaker 8: favorite on the road at this time.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Because these of the two supposedly best teams left in
- 37:44Speaker 2: the conference.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I think they are. If Bonix was healthy, I think
- 37:47Speaker 4: these are. They've been the two best teams all year
- 37:50Speaker 4: in the AFC. I think they would be. You know,
- 37:53Speaker 4: he's just not healthy, so I don't know, Like I
- 37:55Speaker 4: know that there's gonna be a lot to be made
- 37:57Speaker 4: about you know what Bart just said, you know the
- 38:00Speaker 4: Patriots history in Denver. I just I don't really think
- 38:04Speaker 4: any of that holds a lot of ways in this.
- 38:05Speaker 8: Yea, it's not necessarily I don't think the Patriots history
- 38:08Speaker 8: in Denver. I do think Denver is a tough place
- 38:11Speaker 8: to play, period, Like for anybody. There's a reason why
- 38:13Speaker 8: they win a lot of games at home, and it's
- 38:15Speaker 8: not just because they're always better than the team that
- 38:17Speaker 8: they're playing and they always play at home, right, so
- 38:20Speaker 8: they're more used to it because they're always there. I
- 38:23Speaker 8: wanted to ask Evan about because the sort of the
- 38:28Speaker 8: knee jerk thing is, well, you got a young, well
- 38:30Speaker 8: not in a young quarterback, but an inexperienced quarterback playing
- 38:33Speaker 8: heat them up. Patriots have been good at it. Do
- 38:37Speaker 8: you have any concern that going after him and then
- 38:43Speaker 8: not succeeding as much as they have doing that to
- 38:46Speaker 8: the Chargers and the Texans because you're playing a really
- 38:48Speaker 8: good offensive line might open up some possibilities or is
- 38:53Speaker 8: it just we're going to disguise everything and try to
- 38:56Speaker 8: confuse stit them and that's how we're going to do this.
- 38:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I go more or towards the second one, because
- 39:01Speaker 4: my fear about in the when you look at the
- 39:05Speaker 4: metrics too, Like the Patriots, even in the Texans game,
- 39:08Speaker 4: their four man pass rushes have not been very effective.
- 39:12Speaker 4: And so that's even against two very bad offensive lines. Right,
- 39:16Speaker 4: So if you go into this game against the Broncos
- 39:18Speaker 4: and you're only rushing four guys against a good offensive line,
- 39:22Speaker 4: I think he's going to have all day back there.
- 39:23Speaker 4: And even though I don't think much of Jared's did
- 39:25Speaker 4: him any quarterback in the NFL who has clean pockets
- 39:28Speaker 4: and is playing basically, you know, untouched like that, he's
- 39:32Speaker 4: going to be able to make some throws if that's
- 39:34Speaker 4: the situation. So maybe they get to it differently where
- 39:38Speaker 4: they still maintain six or seven guys in coverage, and
- 39:41Speaker 4: there's different ways to do that. But I think that
- 39:43Speaker 4: if you just try to rush for at this Broncos
- 39:47Speaker 4: offensive line, I think you're gonna have a tough time
- 39:49Speaker 4: getting pressure on Stdam Yeah.
- 39:51Speaker 8: I was thinking more in terms, and you might be right,
- 39:53Speaker 8: and that was, you know, certainly makes a lot of
- 39:56Speaker 8: sense the way you put that. I was wondering if
- 39:58Speaker 8: maybe you just try to confuse him with coverage.
- 40:00Speaker 4: Yeah, you could do that and try to get them
- 40:02Speaker 4: to hold the ball. Yeah, you could definitely try to
- 40:04Speaker 4: do that. And maybe you know that is the cat
- 40:06Speaker 4: and mouse of it all, where you know, they think
- 40:09Speaker 4: we're going to go blitz because we have been blitzing,
- 40:11Speaker 4: So we start not blitzing, but then we blitz in
- 40:13Speaker 4: the second half to kind of close it out or
- 40:15Speaker 4: vice versa. You know that that's sort of the chest.
- 40:17Speaker 8: Maybe you run like one of those stunts, or maybe
- 40:20Speaker 8: you try to do something to dial up pressure on
- 40:22Speaker 8: a spot and maybe the Bronco is just a little
- 40:24Speaker 8: bit better than the Texans and they, you know, get
- 40:27Speaker 8: enough of a guy and they give them a second
- 40:29Speaker 8: and all of a sudden, you give him an easy throw.
- 40:31Speaker 8: That would be my concern. Don't make anything easy for him.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I wonder you know their start their starting center
- 40:38Speaker 4: is I just got designated to return. They opened his
- 40:41Speaker 4: practice window water Wattenberg.
- 40:43Speaker 8: Oh, this is the original starter. This is the original starter.
- 40:47Speaker 8: Is a very this is what this is. This is
- 40:50Speaker 8: the man, this is what you're you're hoping for. So
- 40:52Speaker 8: these guys to come off by r and save their seasons.
- 40:55Speaker 4: So yeah, so Alex forthsythe who's their backup center, got
- 41:00Speaker 4: hurt against Buffalo. Yeah, so they had to go to Mustafar,
- 41:03Speaker 4: their third string center, who is in line to start
- 41:06Speaker 4: on Sunday unless the original center, who was having a
- 41:09Speaker 4: very good year before he got hurt, unless he can
- 41:12Speaker 4: play in the game. He has a shoulder injury and
- 41:15Speaker 4: they designated him to return from my injured reserve. So
- 41:19Speaker 4: toward all in duct tape, Freddy, if he doesn't play
- 41:21Speaker 4: or if he's you know, half a shell of himself
- 41:24Speaker 4: because he's hurt. You know, center is certainly a place
- 41:27Speaker 4: that you can target on this offensive line, and left
- 41:30Speaker 4: guard is a little bit weaker. Their two tackles have
- 41:32Speaker 4: been great mcglinchy and Bulls. Their right guard is a
- 41:35Speaker 4: first team All Pro two years in a row, so
- 41:38Speaker 4: he's not a guy you want to mess with.
- 41:39Speaker 2: But oh go ahead, no, sorry, the rest of.
- 41:42Speaker 4: It though, you know, like can Milton Williams and Christian Barmore,
- 41:45Speaker 4: you know, beat up the left guard in center? Maybe?
- 41:48Speaker 2: All right? The Patriots are in it, are still in

- 47:00Speaker 2: I'm like, Mark, let me get it front Mary.
- 47:02Speaker 5: If uns.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Ain't throw the ball, they ain't throw the ball.
- 47:16Speaker 9: Maybody keep it from both? Howboy said this was gonna
- 47:19Speaker 9: be eas does we play.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Down's a second?
- 47:26Speaker 13: Down to eight the snap of the late hand up,
- 47:28Speaker 13: Mars runs up the middle, ran into a teammate lost
- 47:30Speaker 13: his balance. Initially as he tried to carry to right,
- 47:33Speaker 13: Nelly gets loose, but the boat goes free.
- 47:35Speaker 9: Backed out by the Patriots who have it game today.
- 47:42Speaker 9: This is the type of.
- 47:43Speaker 5: Game it is.
- 47:44Speaker 2: We have to take the ball away.
- 47:46Speaker 10: Ain't the ball away?
- 47:47Speaker 2: I mean, this is an identity quarter right here right,
- 47:50Speaker 2: our identity verse there all right, make sure that we
- 47:53Speaker 2: do a great job with our identity.
- 47:58Speaker 13: He throws a long ball. He done the rights up.
- 48:00Speaker 13: Cajon Dundy cruises tatas day Patrians, Buddy.
- 48:21Speaker 5: Yeah, where you from?
- 48:24Speaker 10: How you can go too?
- 48:25Speaker 5: We're gon beat up by the Patriots.
- 48:27Speaker 16: Win it over the Texans twenty eight to sixteen, having
- 48:31Speaker 16: reached the AMC Championship game, got by Ray.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Great love, good baby, and now great moments in a.
- 49:01Speaker 2: History.
- 49:02Speaker 6: The people that I had to listen to, he's system quarterback.
- 49:05Speaker 6: It's all dank and dunk. He's an average. Those people
- 49:08Speaker 6: are out there that it's proven. You know those people, yes,
- 49:11Speaker 6: and they've gone quiet that it was just proven when
- 49:14Speaker 6: they let the league in touchdown passes.
- 49:15Speaker 2: We know that.
- 49:16Speaker 6: But there's still there for people that would come after you.
- 49:19Speaker 6: The whole into the twenty fifteen twenty sixteen n was
- 49:22Speaker 6: all the whole time.
- 49:23Speaker 8: He's really really he's the wall. He's on the wall, and.
- 49:27Speaker 2: I don't care about the wall.
- 49:28Speaker 8: I don't care about the wall.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Fifteen.
- 49:31Speaker 8: In twenty sixteen, there wasn't a lot of people saying that, yeah,
- 49:33Speaker 8: he's not that good, he's just a game man.
- 49:35Speaker 2: He might have gone away. You'd be surprised, I really think,
- 49:39Speaker 2: I mean, especially in your chamber. I can imagine I'm
- 49:42Speaker 2: not surprised that you heard it.
- 49:43Speaker 9: I just don't.
- 49:44Speaker 8: I just don't think that was very prevalent. I think
- 49:46Speaker 8: there was, like you know Max Kellerman's and you know
- 49:50Speaker 8: Eric Sclavino's. I think that a lot of the game
- 49:54Speaker 8: manager dink and dunk things went away for good and
- 49:58Speaker 8: oh seven, Yeah, yes, when he's had all the records, right,
- 50:01Speaker 8: he showed you I could do it you away, I could.
- 50:03Speaker 5: Do it my way.
- 50:04Speaker 8: It doesn't matter.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I could do it.
- 50:06Speaker 6: It's the same argument I used when I get into
- 50:08Speaker 6: it on social media.
- 50:10Speaker 2: But look what Wolker and Brands.
- 50:12Speaker 9: I got to give them credit.
- 50:13Speaker 8: Though Deuce he finds them and now he hates them.
- 50:16Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 50:20Speaker 2: All right back here. Patriot's Unfiltered eight five five pasts
- 50:23Speaker 2: five hundred is the hotline. It's Deuce, not Deuce. Deuce
- 50:26Speaker 2: is sick. He's got a stomach bug. Incause you're late
- 50:28Speaker 2: turning in, we sent him home.
- 50:30Speaker 4: I love how on medical records just become public.
- 50:32Speaker 2: Now we don't want him.
- 50:34Speaker 8: It's got a big of a stomach bug.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Can you imagine if we let do stay and if
- 50:38Speaker 2: he goes to the locker room like he usually does
- 50:41Speaker 2: and just gets the whole team sick. Oh my god,
- 50:44Speaker 2: that would be a disaster.
- 50:45Speaker 4: They all had they all had the flu.
- 50:48Speaker 2: I know, well, thank god it we come from us. Okay, yeah,
- 50:54Speaker 2: I'm going to open it up. I don't know if
- 50:55Speaker 2: there was something I had.
- 50:56Speaker 5: I do have.
- 50:56Speaker 8: I'm interested to hear Paul's I have a scenario that
- 51:01Speaker 8: the Broncos could win the game that wouldn't necessarily involve
- 51:04Speaker 8: like a fluke. But I'll save it for a couple
- 51:08Speaker 8: more minutes.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Okay, so let's go to the phones. We'll start with
- 51:12Speaker 2: Herm in DC. What's up? Herm?
- 51:16Speaker 17: What's going on?
- 51:17Speaker 13: Fellas?
- 51:20Speaker 2: Fred?
- 51:21Speaker 18: Listen, I tell you like I tell my wife always.
- 51:23Speaker 18: Now you worried much? Brother, you really do. Let's don't
- 51:27Speaker 18: overthink this, No, really, let's not overthink this, right, And
- 51:32Speaker 18: my point is not even that Cinner might be like
- 51:34Speaker 18: a bad quarterback. I mean, he might be fine, but
- 51:38Speaker 18: he hasn't taken a step in what like almost three years,
- 51:41Speaker 18: and he has what seven days to prepare for a defense?
- 51:46Speaker 18: Current giving up knock point five points per game is
- 51:49Speaker 18: it's just not going to happen. It just won't.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Well, let me ask you a question, and I'll ask
- 51:54Speaker 2: these guys too, is how much better do you think
- 51:58Speaker 2: bo Nix is instead of oh, like, do you think
- 52:01Speaker 2: great quarterback? That the loss is devastating?
- 52:04Speaker 8: Yes, especially the way Evan said it.
- 52:07Speaker 4: Yeah, And I don't think very highly.
- 52:09Speaker 5: I don't. I don't think.
- 52:10Speaker 2: I think that if bo Nix was still the starter,
- 52:13Speaker 2: people would be saying he's not that good.
- 52:15Speaker 8: If Bonix was the starter, people would still think the
- 52:17Speaker 8: Patriots were going to win the game.
- 52:18Speaker 2: That's my whole point.
- 52:20Speaker 8: Now, you're just trying to, you know, prevent it from
- 52:23Speaker 8: being overconfident, because somehow that you impact the game by
- 52:26Speaker 8: being too overconfident.
- 52:27Speaker 4: Okay, I feel like I would feel like I would
- 52:34Speaker 4: probably be saying bo Nix isn't that good, because I'd
- 52:36Speaker 4: be worried that they were going to lose the game,
- 52:39Speaker 4: so I'd be.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Trying to like get talking.
- 52:42Speaker 8: Yes, but yes, but the way you talked about b
- 52:45Speaker 8: Nicks and how much they rely on him, Yeah, at least.
- 52:49Speaker 8: I mean, I'm sorry the way he's asked to run
- 52:53Speaker 8: the ball and make plays off platform and extend plays
- 52:56Speaker 8: like he's an awful lot for a team that really
- 53:00Speaker 8: kind of limited offensively.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Yeah. He You know, I've been critical about Knicks because
- 53:05Speaker 4: I think that he's widely inconsistent even within games. But
- 53:10Speaker 4: some of the throws he made late in that game
- 53:11Speaker 4: against the Bills last week, it were legit. You know,
- 53:16Speaker 4: the touchdown pass to Franklin. He threw one to Trotman
- 53:19Speaker 4: up the seam. That was a great throw.
- 53:22Speaker 8: My feeling on bo Nicks is not necessarily because of
- 53:24Speaker 8: bow Nicks. It's I'm sorry if I can't tell a
- 53:27Speaker 8: guy that hasn't ever really played in seven years in
- 53:29Speaker 8: the league is not that big of a drop off
- 53:32Speaker 8: thanks her. That's you know, It's it's less about pro
- 53:35Speaker 8: bow Knicks as it is like just complete unknown for
- 53:38Speaker 8: Jared Stidham Christian in LA.
- 53:41Speaker 2: What's up.
- 53:46Speaker 3: The last time that the Patriots played Denver? In Denver,
- 53:51Speaker 3: the AFT Championship game and I was at that game.
- 53:54Speaker 3: I had won a Patriots app contest to fly to
- 53:59Speaker 3: the game and stay on the same floor as a team,
- 54:02Speaker 3: and I wound up having like a fifteen to twenty
- 54:04Speaker 3: minute conversation with mister Craft. And to this day it's
- 54:07Speaker 3: my my sports you know, of greatest sports memory.
- 54:11Speaker 2: How did you get by security?
- 54:12Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 54:15Speaker 3: You know, I actually got into a fight with the
- 54:17Speaker 3: guy at security because I walked in and I was
- 54:20Speaker 3: wearing my Patriots gear and he said good luck, and
- 54:23Speaker 3: I'm a fivy guy, and I just snapped right away.
- 54:25Speaker 14: Well you mean good luck?
- 54:26Speaker 10: You think we need look to beat you?
- 54:28Speaker 2: And I went I went off on the guys.
- 54:31Speaker 14: Yeah, got into a fight.
- 54:33Speaker 3: But football wise, guys, the only way I see Denver
- 54:37Speaker 3: making any big plays this week is going to be
- 54:39Speaker 3: trick plays of fake punch and pass in apperances, which
- 54:43Speaker 3: brought me to like, if I'm Denver thinking about the game.
- 54:46Speaker 10: Who is who?
- 54:47Speaker 3: Like who's the weak link on our team? For me,
- 54:50Speaker 3: it seems like Carlton Davis is the most susceptible if
- 54:52Speaker 3: you match everything up and everything even getting those past
- 54:55Speaker 3: in apperances down the field. Probably late or things of
- 54:58Speaker 3: that nature. And so I was wondering, who you guys
- 55:00Speaker 3: think is Denver's week link and vite versa, and then
- 55:03Speaker 3: I have to score twenty eight to ten Patriots.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Okay, all right, sounds good? Yeah, thanks Christian.
- 55:09Speaker 4: I mean Carlon Davis. You know, he gets penalty He
- 55:12Speaker 4: gets three penalties a game, and he makes three plays
- 55:15Speaker 4: a game, like it seems like that's definitely.
- 55:17Speaker 8: I think he's playing better in the playoffs than he
- 55:19Speaker 8: did in the regular season, but he did he even
- 55:21Speaker 8: even in the playoffs, he's he's gotten some penalties.
- 55:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree, Uh yeah, I mean I hear what
- 55:26Speaker 4: he's saying in terms of the pass interferences and stuff
- 55:28Speaker 4: like that. I tend to think and I know it
- 55:30Speaker 4: didn't happen this way, you know, over time last week
- 55:33Speaker 4: Agad's buffalo. But it's gonna have to be a pretty
- 55:36Speaker 4: agregious pass interference for them to like decide games at
- 55:39Speaker 4: this stage on things like that.
- 55:40Speaker 8: So do I sound that bad when I say, like
- 55:43Speaker 8: the Broncos are incapable of making a play that's not
- 55:45Speaker 8: a trick play or a pass in afference or fake
- 55:47Speaker 8: punt or fake punt? Do I sound that bad. Yeah,
- 55:50Speaker 8: because I don't mean to sound that bad, like I
- 55:52Speaker 8: expect that. I don't expect Jared's did n't to go
- 55:55Speaker 8: out and fall down like you know, I think he
- 55:58Speaker 8: should be able to run the offense set, you know,
- 56:01Speaker 8: a reasonable level. I just don't think it's that great
- 56:03Speaker 8: of an offense to begin with.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Well that that makes sense to me, which your confidence
- 56:10Speaker 2: makes sense to me. If I know you're thinking that.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Way, I have to go assoom. So I just look
- 56:14Speaker 4: on that note. I thing that don't overlook is that
- 56:20Speaker 4: Pat Bryan and Troy Franklin might also not play in
- 56:22Speaker 4: this game for Denver, so that's their number two and
- 56:24Speaker 4: number three receivers. Troy Franklin had injured his hamstring against Buffalo,
- 56:29Speaker 4: and Pat Bryan's in concussion protocol, missed most of the
- 56:32Speaker 4: game actually last week. So Cortland Sutton's going to play,
- 56:37Speaker 4: Marvin Mims is gonna play. But Marvin Mims is really
- 56:39Speaker 4: like they're kind of Pop Douglas like he's like a
- 56:42Speaker 4: kind of more of like a situational player most of
- 56:45Speaker 4: the time, a gadget guy. If they don't have Franklin,
- 56:50Speaker 4: who's their second leading receiver on the team, and is
- 56:52Speaker 4: really good.
- 56:53Speaker 2: For it's a big loss.
- 56:55Speaker 4: And then Pat Bryan is a rookie who's kind of
- 56:57Speaker 4: emerged as the third receiver down the stretch.
- 56:59Speaker 5: Here.
- 57:00Speaker 4: For them, it's not just bonicks. Like now we're talking
- 57:03Speaker 4: about taking you know, imagine if the Patriots are going
- 57:05Speaker 4: into this game without you know, Digs and Booty and
- 57:09Speaker 4: you know, they're relying on Eft and Chisholm, and they're
- 57:11Speaker 4: relying on Kyle Williams. Like that's kind of where Denver
- 57:16Speaker 4: might be, along with not having their starting quarterback. So
- 57:20Speaker 4: when you take all these these pieces out of an
- 57:22Speaker 4: offense that was already kind of middling, it really is bleak.
- 57:28Speaker 2: Ryan's in Virginia. Hey Ryan, Ryan, Yeah we can all right.
- 57:37Speaker 5: I was on youute.
- 57:38Speaker 19: Sorry, So this would probably be a better catch twenty
- 57:41Speaker 19: two topic, but I'm on my lunch now, so here. So,
- 57:45Speaker 19: the Broncos blit at like a thirty one point nine
- 57:47Speaker 19: per rate according to stats. They led the league in sacks,
- 57:51Speaker 19: being extremely aggressive, but the Texans were a lot lower,
- 57:54Speaker 19: at like a twenty one point nine percent rate, relying
- 57:56Speaker 19: on a lot of four man rushes with some stunts
- 57:58Speaker 19: that really just mostly will Anderson and de Neil Hunter
- 58:01Speaker 19: going to just go win their battles. Statistically, Drake may
- 58:04Speaker 19: is one of the best quarterbacks in the Leavers. With
- 58:06Speaker 19: the blitz this year, I really think of the offense
- 58:08Speaker 19: is actually going to be much better equipped for this
- 58:10Speaker 19: specific matchup than they were for the Texans, despite them
- 58:13Speaker 19: both being great defenses. But I wanted more of a
- 58:16Speaker 19: ball nower.
- 58:16Speaker 10: Thought on this.
- 58:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense to me, but we'll let Evan Yes.
- 58:20Speaker 2: I mean I kind of talked about.
- 58:22Speaker 4: This earlier in the show, like this to me is
- 58:24Speaker 4: a is a very chaotic Denver defense. This is more
- 58:27Speaker 4: of a defense that likes to spin it and cook
- 58:30Speaker 4: it up and blitz as the caller said, and all
- 58:32Speaker 4: that kind of stuff. The Texans defense is a four
- 58:35Speaker 4: man rush. They sit in their coverage, they kind of
- 58:37Speaker 4: do what they do. They just went with pure talent
- 58:40Speaker 4: and with us, you know, sound system and scheme, so
- 58:44Speaker 4: it's very different challenge. I would say this one's closer
- 58:46Speaker 4: to probably what they saw with the Chargers than what
- 58:49Speaker 4: they saw with Houston. The blitz stuff, I think is
- 58:54Speaker 4: kind of interesting because they run a lot of like
- 58:58Speaker 4: simulated pressures in st enuff like that where they're dropping
- 59:01Speaker 4: guys off the line of scrimmage and then blitzing from
- 59:04Speaker 4: the linebackers usually, so like even though they technically are
- 59:07Speaker 4: blitzing and we can get into that minuchia, and they
- 59:10Speaker 4: are somewhat maintaining their coverage structure by dropping guys out
- 59:15Speaker 4: of the rush. So I don't know if it's like
- 59:17Speaker 4: truly a blitz. It's it's a really fun defense and
- 59:22Speaker 4: a lot of the times, like I was saying on
- 59:23Speaker 4: catch twenty two, it's actually like kind of hard to
- 59:26Speaker 4: understand what they're in, like they because they it's it's
- 59:29Speaker 4: very disguise heavy and exotic. So it's going to be
- 59:32Speaker 4: one of those defenses where I'm like Houston Houston's was
- 59:35Speaker 4: like you just have to make plays, like can we
- 59:37Speaker 4: block our guys? Can they block these guys? And can
- 59:40Speaker 4: we make plays on the outside.
- 59:41Speaker 8: I mean, it's the personnel. I just think the Houston's
- 59:44Speaker 8: personnel is light years better than Denver's personnel there there, I.
- 59:47Speaker 2: Would say their edge guys. You know, Benito is a
- 59:49Speaker 2: good player.
- 59:49Speaker 15: But.
- 59:51Speaker 8: Probably better than both Stingley and but I just don't
- 59:56Speaker 8: think as a whole it's it's anywhere near his talent.
- 59:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was two callers Ago asked, like,
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: who's like the weak link? Riley Moss is the weak
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: link in their secondary. He's been targeted one hundred and
- 1:00:07Speaker 4: nineteen times this year because he's playing on the other
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: side of Patrick.
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: Rate, so they're they're not gonna want to you know, nobody.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: Wants to throw at Pat Surtan, so they're all throwing
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: at Riley Moss. He also leads the league in defensive
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: pass interference calls this year as well, So he's the
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: one guy that if you can get Booty or you
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: can get Kyle Williams on him on the outside, that
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: maybe they could hunt and win that we have a line.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: On who the ref crew is.
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: I think we do know who.
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: What's his name? We just whoever it is, what are
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: their tendencies?
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: So I don't know about the penalties, But this guy's
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: four and o with Denver this year or something like that.
- 1:00:47Speaker 8: And he's also too and old with the Patriots, so
- 1:00:49Speaker 8: no one's never lost.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: These these types of trends that cracked me out, like
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: to give that name the under the home underdogs and
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: spreads and records in Denver and records with their like
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: none of this stuff do you all think this stuff
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: matters like.
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: I do think the tenancy, yes, Hansy like pass interference guys,
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: I think that those kinds of cruise.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: I'm not talking about that.
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: I'm talking about more like Denver's four and out with this.
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: No, no, no, that doesn't a former.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: Head coach from this team. You still always know who
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: the refs are.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: They're not talking about I'm not talking about that, Alexx,
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: Alex Kemp, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: teams records with those reefs. I'm not talking about.
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: Agree with you, that does not happen, especially when he's
- 1:01:36Speaker 8: undefeated both teams games.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: But how they call it game matters, Yes, no doubt.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: When we played New Orleans the ref was from LSU.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: Did you know that?
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: I didn't know that. But this this feels like that
- 1:01:48Speaker 4: feels like that feels like a stretch department.
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: That also doesn't matter. That would be another one in
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: to whether or not whether or not that he had,
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: like say, I don't know five hundred thousand dollars was
- 1:02:00Speaker 8: you know, deposited to his checking account that week. That
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: would matter to me because I'm not taking that off
- 1:02:06Speaker 8: the table for that guy. Oh that New Oyans game.
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: I was gonna say, maybe it wasn't LSU think because
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: Joe Murray that was what the most ridiculous penalties I've
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: ever seen.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: I agree, yep, ridiculous.
- 1:02:19Speaker 8: I'm always out of my mind until the Patriots are
- 1:02:22Speaker 8: on the other end of one of those calls.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: And then everybody's with me. Now you're with me, Pop,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Let's go to Colorado.
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: It's and is this an stone has to be?
- 1:02:32Speaker 10: It's is Anne Stone? How are you guys?
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: How you doing?
- 1:02:35Speaker 8: And let me hear this accident?
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: And I'm here for it, and leads up the Pike's
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Peak Pat's Club. What's going on out there?
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: And well, I've missed you, Fred. I'm glad I'm going
- 1:02:46Speaker 10: to get to see you, or at least I hope
- 1:02:47Speaker 10: I get to see you.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Well, I won't be there for the start. I'll probably
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: come by later.
- 1:02:53Speaker 10: Oh okay, that's good, that'll be great. Yeah, I mean
- 1:02:57Speaker 10: who thought. I mean, like everybody else, I was like, oh,
- 1:03:00Speaker 10: just give us a winning season. So all of a sudden,
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: as we got closer, I thought, oh my god, I'm
- 1:03:06Speaker 10: going to have to throw a party.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: Yeah that's awesome.
- 1:03:09Speaker 10: So we are. We've got Jackson's Loto, which is a
- 1:03:14Speaker 10: really great sports bar across the street from corse Field.
- 1:03:19Speaker 10: I've been working with the Craft fan engagement group, Abigail
- 1:03:25Speaker 10: and Jeff, fabulous people. They're going to do sports I
- 1:03:30Speaker 10: mean Patriots All Access Live show up on the rooftop
- 1:03:36Speaker 10: of Jackson's and right where we're having our party. So
- 1:03:42Speaker 10: that's a free sand rally. They'll have pat Patriot and
- 1:03:46Speaker 10: the cheerleaders. And I know Dave Andrews is going to
- 1:03:50Speaker 10: be there. You know, I think Mike Grease am almost
- 1:03:53Speaker 10: positive Mike Greece is going to be there.
- 1:03:55Speaker 8: Adam is going to be there too, So Mike Greece
- 1:03:58Speaker 8: definitely will be there. He's part of the All Access show.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: He will be there.
- 1:04:01Speaker 10: Oh yes, Well are you serious about Adam Vinitierry?
- 1:04:05Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I am, Yes, future Pro Football Hall of Famer, mother.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Of God, Yeah, mother God awesome. Yes, the greatest, greatest accent.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: She lives in Colorado.
- 1:04:17Speaker 10: She's from High Packed girl.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Yeah, she's from Hi Hi Pack. Yeah. So how many
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: people are in your club these days?
- 1:04:27Speaker 10: Well, between we had COVID, then back closed before yeah,
- 1:04:37Speaker 10: and then Tom left and you sort of got to
- 1:04:40Speaker 10: know who with the die hads and who you know,
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: so i'd say where maybe eighty.
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: Ninety Okay, all right, still good, that's a good shot.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: I got a feeling it's going to grow.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Yeah, now that Rabel and May are on the team.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: To get your numbers back up.
- 1:04:58Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, well I used to be three four hundred,
- 1:05:01Speaker 10: I know.
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:02Speaker 10: Mine always goes up and down because of the five
- 1:05:05Speaker 10: military bases. If you live in you know, I don't
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: know wherever, you have a steady If you have you know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 10: eighty fans in the town, then that's what you have.
- 1:05:16Speaker 10: Mine goes up, it goes down because of who gets
- 1:05:19Speaker 10: stationed at one of our five military bases.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Right because you're out in Colorado Springs actually right.
- 1:05:25Speaker 10: Yes, out in the Springs. But we were the very
- 1:05:28Speaker 10: first club in the state, so that's why we always
- 1:05:33Speaker 10: have hosted. I mean, you've been to I think almost
- 1:05:35Speaker 10: everyone freend.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I know lately I've been bad luck. But we're
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: going to break that curse.
- 1:05:42Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: Well, let's hope we can break the high altitude curse.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, you know. All right, well, and I can't
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: wait to be out there see you on Saturday night.
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: Have fun and thanks for calling in and you got
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: a prediction before you go. Pain.
- 1:06:03Speaker 10: Oh, I think it's us all the way. Yeah, but
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: I'm trying not to get clocky because of the old
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: any Sunday.
- 1:06:10Speaker 12: Rule, you know.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Sure?
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, all right, well thanks a lot, and I'll
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: see you on Saturday.
- 1:06:17Speaker 10: A right, all right, thank you guys.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: By all right, I gotta go.
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: I want to be rude and leave.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: You know, the year that we went to we played
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Denver and then we had the game in Mexico, we
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: spent we spent the week at the air Force case
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: and I actually had dinner over at Anne's house. We
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: had a bunch of us over. It was great.
- 1:06:37Speaker 8: I bet I can envision that whole scene.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: I bet it was.
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: I bet it was a wonderful time.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: I think Eric Scalovino was with us.
- 1:06:43Speaker 8: He even went, oh yeah, he was not behind the
- 1:06:47Speaker 8: Andy Hart. Yeah, I believe he was with That makes sense.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: So I'll give you a couple of things.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: You know, this is like.
- 1:06:56Speaker 8: And they're all kind of intangible kind of qualities, and
- 1:06:59Speaker 8: you never know how teams are going to react, right,
- 1:07:01Speaker 8: So you want to be a scared We can be
- 1:07:03Speaker 8: a scared together. Okay, I don't think this is really
- 1:07:05Speaker 8: much to be worried about. But I think Sean Payton
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: is a terrific offensive coach. I think he has done
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: a good job being able to He's good for quarterbacks.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: I think he makes makes the reads pretty simple and whatnot. However,
- 1:07:22Speaker 8: or as Anne would say, however, I think he's a
- 1:07:26Speaker 8: bit of a choker in big games. I think the
- 1:07:29Speaker 8: Saints John Peyton is Yeah, I think the Saints traditionally
- 1:07:33Speaker 8: fell short a choker. So why don't you listen. I'm
- 1:07:37Speaker 8: going to give you the reasons to be a stand
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: I think that they have routinely with Drew Brees. Now
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: maybe it was because of Drew Brees, maybe he was
- 1:07:46Speaker 8: the choker, but the Saints fell short at home quite often,
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: and that nuclear powered offense didn't always play as well
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: when the games were the most important. They had the
- 1:08:00Speaker 8: one breakthrough when they beat the Colts, and I can't
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: take that away.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: We'll say that had to do with Karina and you know,
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: be nice for the city if they won.
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: Okay, but my point being is I think that they've
- 1:08:15Speaker 8: had the best team in the NFC several times and
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: found ways to lose, and there's some pressure that goes
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: with that can't win, the big one, can't consistently come through.
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: Now here, they are the number one seed at home
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: hosting the Patriots. If bo Nix is healthy, the pressure
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: is on Denver. Patriots are playing with all the house money. Yeah,
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: the pressure is on Denver. Well, that completely went out
- 1:08:40Speaker 8: the window, that whole mindset. Now everybody expects Denver to lose.
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: Everybody expects Sean Payton to be powerless to do really
- 1:08:49Speaker 8: anything to help this guy who hasn't played a snap
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: in over two years. So now it's the Broncos that
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: have the house money. The pressure is on the Patriot's, yeah,
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: to win this game. They're they're five and a half
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: point favorites, they're supposed to win.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: I would say the pressure has shifted.
- 1:09:06Speaker 8: So if you if you want to be afraid, I
- 1:09:09Speaker 8: am not. I think the Patriots are going to win
- 1:09:11Speaker 8: this game handily. Okay, we'll give our scores tomorrow, but
- 1:09:14Speaker 8: that's the way I feel defense is playing too well.
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: But if you want to be afraid, you want to
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: like allow yourself to think if you feel too confident,
- 1:09:23Speaker 8: it's going to impact the outcome of the game somehow.
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: Go right ahead, But that would be the one thing
- 1:09:28Speaker 8: that I would be worried about, Like the Patriots have
- 1:09:31Speaker 8: been able to use this talk about the Texans defense
- 1:09:34Speaker 8: last week, Well what about our defense? Our defense? Is
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: he getting any respect? You don't have that this week?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Right now?
- 1:09:41Speaker 8: It's sure, let's make our arrangements for Santa Claus. How
- 1:09:44Speaker 8: nobody believes in US, nobody believes in Denver. Everybody believes
- 1:09:48Speaker 8: in the Patriots.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: How do the Patriots handle that?
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:09:52Speaker 8: I don't have any concerns about it. But if you
- 1:09:54Speaker 8: want to be afraid about something I would be afraid
- 1:09:57Speaker 8: about that. Do they get a little bit too uh
- 1:10:00Speaker 8: comfortable in cocky reading their press clippings?
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: I don't have anything else for you because I don't
- 1:10:07Speaker 8: think they can line up and beat you with a
- 1:10:09Speaker 8: backup quarterback plan, not the way the defense has played
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: the first two playoff games.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Okay, Eldridge in North Carolina? What's up Eldrid?
- 1:10:17Speaker 8: Right?
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: We got verbel Oh, let's go to Mike Rabel. Hold
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: hold on, we're gonna put you that hole.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: If you might be activating the window from mac follows.
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: That won't happen today.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: No, Like just a thought on your team ango on
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: the road.
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: What kind of things did you learn about your team as.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: A group that you could take into any road games
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: such as one like this.
- 1:10:40Speaker 20: You know, we played a lot of different environments, and
- 1:10:45Speaker 20: you're gonna take care of the football. You know, you're
- 1:10:47Speaker 20: gonna have to try to find a way to you know,
- 1:10:52Speaker 20: win in critical situations at the end of the half,
- 1:10:54Speaker 20: at the end of the game, whether that's five minutes
- 1:10:56Speaker 20: or you know, I just think back to you defendive
- 1:11:00Speaker 20: getting stops in Miami and made a critical kick Tampa
- 1:11:05Speaker 20: Bay we executed at the end of half, and you know,
- 1:11:08Speaker 20: certain situations five minutes in New Orleans.
- 1:11:13Speaker 16: You know.
- 1:11:13Speaker 20: So I think each game kind of has its own story,
- 1:11:16Speaker 20: but you better take care of football, especially in Denver.
- 1:11:20Speaker 21: Mike, Mike, following Mike, following that up, following that up
- 1:11:23Speaker 21: a little bit.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: What characteristics do players have to have to take that
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: mentality on the road and be successful on the road.
- 1:11:34Speaker 20: Well, I mean, I think we try to preach it,
- 1:11:36Speaker 20: uh through you know, the entire offseason and being able
- 1:11:40Speaker 20: to establish an identity that that travels overcoming mistakes that
- 1:11:47Speaker 20: happened in the game, which there always are. I think
- 1:11:50Speaker 20: that you have to be resilient. I mean, there's gonna
- 1:11:53Speaker 20: be some swings in momentum. You're gonna have to be
- 1:11:55Speaker 20: able to handle the environment offensively and not put yourself
- 1:11:59Speaker 20: in in bad situations because you know your operation isn't
- 1:12:04Speaker 20: very good. So there's a lot of things that we
- 1:12:06Speaker 20: try to practice. Knowing that we're gonna have to play
- 1:12:08Speaker 20: half of our games on the road. I would anticipate
- 1:12:12Speaker 20: him being out there, probably in a limited capacity, but
- 1:12:17Speaker 20: I mean just working his way through protocol. The Broncos
- 1:12:21Speaker 20: it's a lot of the season mode when the league
- 1:12:23Speaker 20: with twenty three SAPs, which.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: Makes them so good, you know, other quarterback gets it out.
- 1:12:28Speaker 20: They do a nice job with moving the pocket and
- 1:12:30Speaker 20: different throws and not just standing back there. I think
- 1:12:35Speaker 20: Sean and his staff has done a great job of,
- 1:12:39Speaker 20: you know, finding the balance of win to throw in
- 1:12:42Speaker 20: the pocket and you know, seven man protections sometimes on
- 1:12:45Speaker 20: third down, and you know, and then again when they
- 1:12:48Speaker 20: don't they block them. They do a nice job of
- 1:12:50Speaker 20: blocking them on the edges, and you know they try
- 1:12:53Speaker 20: to stay firm in the middle.
- 1:12:54Speaker 22: You go back and look at preseason stuff or do
- 1:12:57Speaker 22: you just kind of stick with what they do offensively,
- 1:13:01Speaker 22: you can figure kieldhim sis up.
- 1:13:04Speaker 20: You know, again, he's got, you know, the the snaps
- 1:13:06Speaker 20: that he has, the four hundred so snaps that are
- 1:13:10Speaker 20: you know, in regular season action, and then they have
- 1:13:12Speaker 20: a lot of snaps.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: And what they want to do.
- 1:13:14Speaker 20: So we'll have to be prepared for the plan and
- 1:13:17Speaker 20: the things that they've shown. I'm sure there'll there'll be
- 1:13:19Speaker 20: some things that they haven't shown. He's more than more
- 1:13:22Speaker 20: than capable, uh to to go out there and operate.
- 1:13:26Speaker 20: And it's why he's a you know, a backup and
- 1:13:28Speaker 20: and one that was coveted around the league.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: How much did you tap into Josh's knowledge of him?
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: And obviously he started a couple leaves for Josh in
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: Vegas about think this is what he likes, this is
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: what he doesn't like.
- 1:13:39Speaker 20: I mean, I think every week we try to use
- 1:13:40Speaker 20: every resource that we have at our disposal. Josh coached
- 1:13:46Speaker 20: him a couple of years ago, so you know, anything
- 1:13:48Speaker 20: that we have that we can use to to help us.
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: We'll try no naps.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Message this year.
- 1:13:54Speaker 22: How do you make sure your defense doesn't take a
- 1:13:56Speaker 22: nap against the back of quarterback.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Doesn't played cat?
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: I think this is a pretty motivated group.
- 1:14:03Speaker 20: I just think to try to continue to play together
- 1:14:07Speaker 20: with the with the speed that they have the last
- 1:14:09Speaker 20: couple of weeks, and you know, I'm confident that they'll
- 1:14:13Speaker 20: remain excited.
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: And ready to go.
- 1:14:17Speaker 14: You wrote in.
- 1:14:17Speaker 15: Ashton Grant for the season as your quarterbacks coaching, what doing,
- 1:14:20Speaker 15: what you've seen for him.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: How he's developed Drake and did you close pass him
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: in Cleveland last year?
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I worked with Ashton in Cleveland.
- 1:14:26Speaker 20: I've got to evaluate him every day and what he
- 1:14:30Speaker 20: did in Cleveland, and you know, I think it's a
- 1:14:34Speaker 20: good balance between him and Josh, you know, and you know,
- 1:14:39Speaker 20: Josh was really excited for us to be able to
- 1:14:42Speaker 20: add Ashton. Was in on those interview processes that we
- 1:14:45Speaker 20: had for the quarterback coach, and you know, I think
- 1:14:49Speaker 20: Ashton really fit his vision that he had, you know,
- 1:14:53Speaker 20: first year in the system. It's going to be you know,
- 1:14:57Speaker 20: Josh is going to have a heavy role in that.
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: And but also.
- 1:15:02Speaker 20: I'll go in there and Ashton will be meeting with
- 1:15:04Speaker 20: these guys situationally, and you know, I think there's a
- 1:15:07Speaker 20: good balance between him and Josh and how long Josh
- 1:15:10Speaker 20: has done it and the maybe the newness and the
- 1:15:15Speaker 20: youngness of Ashton is a nice little balance.
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: Like mc collins practice today.
- 1:15:21Speaker 20: Uh No, I would not anticipate, Karen, you just have
- 1:15:25Speaker 20: to talk louder so they hear your question. I would
- 1:15:28Speaker 20: not anticipate Mac being out there.
- 1:15:30Speaker 15: Like you're not afraid drills from time to time with
- 1:15:34Speaker 15: the guys. Is there a part of you as a
- 1:15:35Speaker 15: player who's played in big games like this, Is there
- 1:15:37Speaker 15: a part of you that deep down this is the
- 1:15:39Speaker 15: physicality of the sport.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: Nope, Nope. Every day I wake up, I'm glad that
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: I don't have to practice or or play.
- 1:15:49Speaker 9: To Going back to.
- 1:15:51Speaker 23: Milton Williams, the decision to sign him, identifying him as
- 1:15:54Speaker 23: a potential main piece here in the defense.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Can you talk about that really thought of going.
- 1:16:01Speaker 23: After him and then now that he's been here, you could,
- 1:16:05Speaker 23: assuming he's met all expectations, if not more.
- 1:16:10Speaker 20: You know, again you try to You know, free agency
- 1:16:13Speaker 20: is always funny, and we knew we needed to supplement
- 1:16:17Speaker 20: the roster and targeted some guys, got some guys, didn't
- 1:16:21Speaker 20: get some guys, and you know, I was decided to
- 1:16:24Speaker 20: add Milt the person there's quality, quality person and uh yeah,
- 1:16:31Speaker 20: I mean I think the play speaks for itself with
- 1:16:33Speaker 20: high expectations for everybody, but certainly Milt, and uh, you know,
- 1:16:37Speaker 20: it's good to have him back out there, and it's
- 1:16:39Speaker 20: helped in a lot of a lot of phases, a
- 1:16:42Speaker 20: lot of areas in a run game. You know, it
- 1:16:45Speaker 20: had some really nice plays last week and affecting the
- 1:16:48Speaker 20: quarterback and we talked about on the interception return that
- 1:16:52Speaker 20: his push kind of started it, knocking the guy back
- 1:16:55Speaker 20: into the tight end. So you know, we'll we'll need everybody,
- 1:16:58Speaker 20: including Milt. We'll need theirst efforts this week. And you know,
- 1:17:02Speaker 20: again that's uh, that's kind of where it went last year.
- 1:17:05Speaker 20: And you target guys and some guys you get some
- 1:17:08Speaker 20: guys you don't, rookies.
- 1:17:11Speaker 18: And younger players who maybe aren't used to the bright
- 1:17:14Speaker 18: lights of the stage of an AFC Championship.
- 1:17:17Speaker 21: How do you prepare them?
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: Do you rely on some veterans to talk with younger guys?
- 1:17:21Speaker 20: I mean there are two more games experienced in the
- 1:17:24Speaker 20: playoffs than they were two weeks ago, So I mean,
- 1:17:29Speaker 20: just try to play well and prepare and enjoy it.
- 1:17:33Speaker 22: That you're doing here this week, preparing for the altitude
- 1:17:38Speaker 22: and as it pertains to special teams as well. Anything
- 1:17:41Speaker 22: that changes your game plan hitting into Sunday.
- 1:17:45Speaker 20: Well, I'm sure we'll have to figure out how far
- 1:17:47Speaker 20: Andy can kick with the altitude, you know, and then
- 1:17:53Speaker 20: you know, just just being good with where we're going
- 1:17:55Speaker 20: to put the kickoffs, and you know, Marcus is going
- 1:17:58Speaker 20: to have to adjust where he aligns based on where
- 1:18:01Speaker 20: the ball travels. And you know, but I'm confident that
- 1:18:05Speaker 20: everybody's going to be ready to go, and you know,
- 1:18:07Speaker 20: hopefully we can get you know, forceding the punt and
- 1:18:09Speaker 20: give Marcus some opportunities.
- 1:18:13Speaker 10: For drink in the news.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: Last games, he's had a few turnovers.
- 1:18:17Speaker 22: How do you go about just addressing that with him
- 1:18:19Speaker 22: and working on ball security, especially against now.
- 1:18:22Speaker 20: Basic Denver, same way I do all the time. So
- 1:18:25Speaker 20: just you know, we have to be able to not
- 1:18:28Speaker 20: get careless with the football. We can't be reckless, you know,
- 1:18:33Speaker 20: and a lot of it is is operation. I mean,
- 1:18:35Speaker 20: we had two turnovers where you know, we all weren't
- 1:18:38Speaker 20: on the same page. And not only is it, you know,
- 1:18:43Speaker 20: that's you know, you could have a negative play if
- 1:18:45Speaker 20: you don't have everybody on the same page. But even worse,
- 1:18:49Speaker 20: you know, you lose the football or if you don't
- 1:18:51Speaker 20: have somebody on the same page and they blitz. You know,
- 1:18:54Speaker 20: somebody gets hurt. So you know, those are the things
- 1:18:56Speaker 20: we talk about when we're not on the same page.
- 1:18:58Speaker 20: So I think that the operation is going to be critical.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: Like understanding every season, every team is different.
- 1:19:03Speaker 8: Is there any lessons he took from six years ago
- 1:19:04Speaker 8: leading a team on the road into the ash and
- 1:19:06Speaker 8: championship team might help you this week.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: Or on Sunday.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: No, I mean, I just you know, you're gonna have to,
- 1:19:14Speaker 5: uh do what we talked about.
- 1:19:16Speaker 20: You have to be able to execute in some critical situations,
- 1:19:19Speaker 20: some third downs. There's gonna be some third downs that
- 1:19:21Speaker 20: we're gonna have to convert, and it's gonna be some
- 1:19:24Speaker 20: you know, stops that we're gonna have to be able
- 1:19:26Speaker 20: to make. And then I think the turnovers and taking
- 1:19:30Speaker 20: advantage of your out you're scoring opportunities in the red zone,
- 1:19:34Speaker 20: you're investing the players.
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: Do you lean into the opportunity of now in the
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: AFS Championship game.
- 1:19:39Speaker 13: Or do you try to keep things fairly similar to
- 1:19:42Speaker 13: what you've done throughout the course of this season.
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: I mean, I think it's similar to what we've done.
- 1:19:49Speaker 20: I mean it's focus on, you know, what we want
- 1:19:53Speaker 20: the team to try to do, and then offensively, defensively
- 1:19:57Speaker 20: and special teams. Things that we think are important, go
- 1:20:00Speaker 20: about practicing them and making sure that everybody's ready, you
- 1:20:03Speaker 20: know what I mean, First and second down today, we'll
- 1:20:05Speaker 20: get third down tomorrow on and on on into the
- 1:20:09Speaker 20: red zone. So I mean we just have to uh again,
- 1:20:12Speaker 20: I focused on embracing the preparation and enjoying this entire experience.
- 1:20:16Speaker 18: They did for a pass rush so talented.
- 1:20:18Speaker 20: Other than they're good men, they're good. They got speed rushers.
- 1:20:22Speaker 20: Zach Allen I think led the league and quarterback hits
- 1:20:25Speaker 20: and he's just athletic of a player, uh inside as
- 1:20:28Speaker 20: you'll find. And that that's that's a tough combination when
- 1:20:33Speaker 20: when he's coming inside and then they can't step up,
- 1:20:36Speaker 20: and you know, Benido and and and Coop, they just
- 1:20:40Speaker 20: they keep coming and they do a nice job blitzing.
- 1:20:44Speaker 20: I mean, Vance does a nice job blitzing. But they
- 1:20:46Speaker 20: have good personnel. And then when they don't, you know
- 1:20:50Speaker 20: what I mean, they get you know, the different pressures.
- 1:20:52Speaker 20: So you know, we'll have to be ready for for
- 1:20:55Speaker 20: the base guys that are in there and then any
- 1:20:57Speaker 20: pressures that are gonna come off of it, what do
- 1:20:59Speaker 20: you see or need to work against?
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: The silent counter or extra pressure you trying to deal
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: with that crowd.
- 1:21:05Speaker 7: Noise and you did pretty in the sepeach this week.
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: Can you tell me the much this year?
- 1:21:09Speaker 9: Ruh?
- 1:21:09Speaker 20: I mean we've worked a you know, I mean we've
- 1:21:11Speaker 20: worked a silent count. We've worked a silent count, you
- 1:21:14Speaker 20: know throughout the season. We've worked it when we weren't
- 1:21:19Speaker 20: uh necessarily going on the road, just trying to figure
- 1:21:23Speaker 20: that we would need to. Yeah, we went through that
- 1:21:27Speaker 20: stretch of home games, you know, so I could you know,
- 1:21:31Speaker 20: there were games that we were just focused on saying, hey,
- 1:21:35Speaker 20: let's just do it today, just to work on it
- 1:21:38Speaker 20: so that we can that we can have it when
- 1:21:41Speaker 20: we need it.
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: And then we'll certainly need it this week for ever
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: on the roster.
- 1:21:46Speaker 8: But do you get the feeling that the team enjolways
- 1:21:48Speaker 8: play on the road.
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: I mean probably when we win, they enjoy it. Yeah,
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: I enjoy too. Made a lot of impact that made
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: a lot of impact plays during the playoff.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Can you speak to performance of that group? And also
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: it's allowed you to be more flexible schematically now that
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: they're healthy.
- 1:22:06Speaker 20: I mean, I don't think the schematics of it really
- 1:22:09Speaker 20: changed much. I think that, you know, we have high expectations,
- 1:22:12Speaker 20: you know, our best players have to play good. But
- 1:22:15Speaker 20: I think that the the the dirt Ins, the Lenny T's,
- 1:22:21Speaker 20: the tongas, those guys stepping in have really done a
- 1:22:25Speaker 20: nice job. And you know, so we have to continue
- 1:22:29Speaker 20: to get some impact from that group, you know, like
- 1:22:32Speaker 20: we have the last couple of weeks.
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: Thank you much.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: All right, we're back and Vrabel is done. I guess
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: for me, the two headlines are that Davis will be
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: out there in a limited capacity as he works through
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: the concussion protocol, and he doesn't expect Hollis Hollins to
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: be out there.
- 1:22:53Speaker 8: Yeah, it'll be you know, interesting to see if that
- 1:22:55Speaker 8: changes as the week goes on. But yeah, probably not
- 1:22:58Speaker 8: a great sign for his availability Sunday if he's not
- 1:23:01Speaker 8: going to open the practice window today.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: But in sounds that he's probably not ready. Yeah, so
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: if he's not, like you said, he's not.
- 1:23:08Speaker 8: We're saying so it'd be my guess. I don't know
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: what one day is going to do, you know, unless
- 1:23:12Speaker 8: there's some other you know, I don't know, some personal
- 1:23:16Speaker 8: thing or whatever reason. It's not health related. But my
- 1:23:19Speaker 8: guess is Mike would say that that, you know, you know,
- 1:23:21Speaker 8: he won't be out there today, but we will have
- 1:23:23Speaker 8: him tomorrow, something like that. Yeah, you know, with Davis,
- 1:23:26Speaker 8: I think it's probably tracking to him playing like it
- 1:23:28Speaker 8: was with Gonzo last week. He'll be out there more
- 1:23:31Speaker 8: than likely in a red jersey. Today is the first
- 1:23:33Speaker 8: step of clearing through the protocol process. So that's a
- 1:23:38Speaker 8: good sign because I think they need the secondary to
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: be at full strength.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, but I would love to see Hollins out. I'm
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: not ruling him out, but yeah, I have my doubts there.
- 1:23:46Speaker 8: I agree, and I think that there is some value
- 1:23:49Speaker 8: to him in the run game. And you know, people
- 1:23:51Speaker 8: have talked about they looked like they would maybe a
- 1:23:54Speaker 8: little vulnerable to the run. You know, it would have
- 1:23:57Speaker 8: been nice to have him available.
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: Let's get Eldrick back on the phone. Yeah he's still there, Aldred, Yes,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: her afraid. How you doing, Paul? Good? Thanks for holding on,
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: glad you.
- 1:24:07Speaker 14: Because I love him. Grabel talked, so yeah, yeah, it's
- 1:24:12Speaker 14: gonna be one of my suckond favorite coach, you know,
- 1:24:15Speaker 14: but Paul are saying everybody optimism, you know. But it's
- 1:24:21Speaker 14: that last little comment that Peyton said when he came
- 1:24:24Speaker 14: out there and said bot Nick going and he said,
- 1:24:26Speaker 14: don't count out stit him and he started laughing heat
- 1:24:29Speaker 14: and didn't want one a one.
- 1:24:31Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:24:31Speaker 14: I understand he's a backup and he played in a
- 1:24:34Speaker 14: couple of years and I saw that game against went
- 1:24:36Speaker 14: with the Raiders. He played against the forty nine ers
- 1:24:37Speaker 14: and he picked him apart. But they didn't win it,
- 1:24:39Speaker 14: but they came close.
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: Yeah, you know.
- 1:24:41Speaker 14: But only thing that the only thing that's worried me.
- 1:24:45Speaker 14: It's how Campbell and and Will and Will got got
- 1:24:49Speaker 14: their butt kicked these two playoff games and they got
- 1:24:52Speaker 14: they coming up with another form over defense just like that.
- 1:24:54Speaker 14: But they got somebody in the middle two there to
- 1:24:56Speaker 14: come up and pose off the middle like like you said,
- 1:24:59Speaker 14: herd Grabel said, know so, and then which call hold
- 1:25:03Speaker 14: on to the ball. And I don't understand Henderson. You know,
- 1:25:08Speaker 14: sometimes he has some good games and sometimes you just
- 1:25:10Speaker 14: run with a proud instead of huoting his eyes. And
- 1:25:14Speaker 14: my boy, Williams, I just wish you get on track
- 1:25:16Speaker 14: for one during game. Yeah, you know, especially when you
- 1:25:19Speaker 14: need him. Yeah, but other than that, I'm picking up.
- 1:25:22Speaker 14: But I think it's gonna be like four oh because
- 1:25:27Speaker 14: of the defense. Okay, so the defense calls it off
- 1:25:30Speaker 14: the line. Just what I'm looking at, all right?
- 1:25:33Speaker 8: Yeah, No, I mean I understand Hatreots score twenty eight.
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: I'm good. I think I'm good.
- 1:25:38Speaker 8: I think we'll all be yawning in the second half
- 1:25:41Speaker 8: waiting for the ceremony. I don't know about the trophy ceremony.
- 1:25:44Speaker 8: All I'm gonna feel good if we get twenty eight,
- 1:25:46Speaker 8: and I'll.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: Feel really good.
- 1:25:47Speaker 8: Yeah, me too, And I think they're going to I
- 1:25:49Speaker 8: agree with Eldred. I think the offense is going to
- 1:25:51Speaker 8: be better this week against the defense that is kind
- 1:25:54Speaker 8: of trending the wrong way.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: All right in Denver, Thanks, thanks Eldred. Eldred checking in
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Gregory from Delaware, right sin and his subject line, Paul,
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: I like these see finger wagging Patriots players. No one
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: is talking enough about sounds like a YouTube.
- 1:26:11Speaker 8: I'm going to guess.
- 1:26:14Speaker 5: That this.
- 1:26:14Speaker 8: I'm going to disagree with this, Okay.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: I just wanted to give a quick shout out to
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: Romandre Stevenson and Craig Woodson, as they have both been
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: excellent in the last two playoff games. But I feel
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: the media hasn't given them enough credit. Romandre has just
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: been so reliable in every aspect recently, and I really
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: believe Woodson is blossoming into a star before our eyes.
- 1:26:33Speaker 8: I figured I would disagree with with those two guys
- 1:26:37Speaker 8: have been asked about quite frequently. I believe we heard
- 1:26:41Speaker 8: from Craig Woodson on Monday. He was one of the
- 1:26:43Speaker 8: three players that they made available to the media. And
- 1:26:47Speaker 8: Stevenson has been on a heater for about six weeks
- 1:26:49Speaker 8: and he's been getting a lot of accolades. But yeah,
- 1:26:52Speaker 8: I would agree. Stevenson I think has been an instrumental part.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: Of the offense. Yep, you know down the stretch, Shawn's
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: and Austin. What's up?
- 1:27:02Speaker 21: Hey, guys, Have's it going good?
- 1:27:05Speaker 24: So I had a question about you guys talked about
- 1:27:07Speaker 24: a bit earlier in the game or in the in
- 1:27:09Speaker 24: the show with Evan where as long as something crazy
- 1:27:12Speaker 24: doesn't happen and there's a turnover fest, if it's a
- 1:27:14Speaker 24: conventional game, that it's hard to see it past the
- 1:27:16Speaker 24: Denver to win. And I agreed with that, and I
- 1:27:18Speaker 24: thought that this basically before today's show as well. But
- 1:27:21Speaker 24: then I started remembering the Rams Super Bowl, and there
- 1:27:24Speaker 24: weren't a lot of turnovers in that game either. I
- 1:27:25Speaker 24: remember it was one each for both teams. So I
- 1:27:27Speaker 24: don't see why this game. I was wondering what your
- 1:27:30Speaker 24: guys's thoughts are on why this game can't unfold Similarly
- 1:27:34Speaker 24: as if the Pagers can't move the ball and STIDM
- 1:27:36Speaker 24: doesn't turn over that much, why can't just be a stalemate.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Right till the end? Yeah, I mean it very well
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: could be.
- 1:27:42Speaker 8: I don't think that Denver's defense is capable of doing
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: what the Rams did. I don't think they are anywhere
- 1:27:47Speaker 8: near as good as that Rams defense, gotcha like Aaron Donald?
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to and that crew that was a
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: good defense, very good defense.
- 1:27:55Speaker 21: Right.
- 1:27:57Speaker 24: Sure.
- 1:27:57Speaker 8: Now again, guys, please don't Thanks to Sean, I am saying,
- 1:28:01Speaker 8: I guess I did this to myself. I'm setting myself
- 1:28:05Speaker 8: up to get blot again. But it's just my feelings.
- 1:28:10Speaker 8: I don't I'm looking at Denver, right and everybody was talking,
- 1:28:14Speaker 8: you know, and I look at the beginning of the year,
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: you know. Twelve points, twenty three points, three points, seventeen points,
- 1:28:19Speaker 8: eleven points, twenty four points, fifteen points, seven points. They
- 1:28:22Speaker 8: played really well for a lot of the season, then
- 1:28:26Speaker 8: as it kind of kicked it down the stretch, twenty
- 1:28:29Speaker 8: six points, seventeen points, twenty six points, thirty four points,
- 1:28:33Speaker 8: then thirteen and three against the Chiefs without Mahomes with
- 1:28:37Speaker 8: that third string quarterback, and the Chargers without Herbert with
- 1:28:41Speaker 8: that backup in Trey Lance. Then they faced another quarterback
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: and it was thirty you know, against Buffalo. I just
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: I'm not telling you that the Broncos don't have a
- 1:28:51Speaker 8: good defense. They do have a good defense. I don't
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: think it's anywhere near as good as the one you
- 1:28:56Speaker 8: just saw, okay, and I know that they're similarly rated.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: But early success skewed it.
- 1:29:03Speaker 8: Yeah, and I think they also got skewed against it,
- 1:29:05Speaker 8: you know, like the Chris what was the kid's name
- 1:29:08Speaker 8: from kansasy Alutican some of the asking me Ola dukein
- 1:29:12Speaker 8: something like that, and then Trey Lance. Yeah, I mean
- 1:29:15Speaker 8: you allowed sixteen points to those guys in two games combined,
- 1:29:20Speaker 8: you know, like, yeah, that helps your numbers. Again, Nick Benino,
- 1:29:24Speaker 8: really good player there. I don't think that we will
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: be looking at this at the end and saying, wow,
- 1:29:32Speaker 8: it was like twenty fifteen. The Broncos defense just completely
- 1:29:36Speaker 8: dictated the way the game unfolded and dominated the Patriots.
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: Do you remember that? That was historic defense? To me,
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: I don't think this Broncos team has the capability of
- 1:29:46Speaker 8: doing that.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: Jamie from Carlo, Ireland. When I wrote to you in
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: September about the birth of my son, I never imagined
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: we would be in the AC Championship game and favorites
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: to make the Super Bowl. Do some sorry for not
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: trying sooner. Just a quick note. I heard Daniel Jeremiah
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: skepticism about the Patriots aggressiveness on defense as he as
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: he loved to abuse screens or maybe the Broncos abuse screens.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: Are you guys worried about that at all? Or would
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: you still be aggressive with Stidham under center?
- 1:30:19Speaker 8: So I would not be as aggressive with the blitzing
- 1:30:22Speaker 8: as they have been because I would force Jared Stidham
- 1:30:26Speaker 8: to beat me conventionally first and show that he can.
- 1:30:30Speaker 8: I wouldn't want to give him anything easy. If the
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: offensive line picks up a stunt or a blitz here
- 1:30:36Speaker 8: or there, and all of a sudden you make you
- 1:30:38Speaker 8: give a you know, an extra second to throw then
- 1:30:42Speaker 8: you know, more than what Herbert or Stroud had and
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: all of a sudden, you know, there were some plays
- 1:30:47Speaker 8: in those two games especially.
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: I thought the.
- 1:30:51Speaker 8: The Houston game, where I think it was Xavier Hutchinson,
- 1:30:55Speaker 8: who had a really rough game for the Texans, was
- 1:30:59Speaker 8: you know kind of break can open late and then
- 1:31:01Speaker 8: you look and you know the Stroud was, you know,
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: either not seeing it right or hurrying a throw. I
- 1:31:07Speaker 8: think he was affected by the pressure all day. Herbert
- 1:31:11Speaker 8: had a couple with Lad McConkie, you know in that
- 1:31:14Speaker 8: game too. I wouldn't want to give like, if the
- 1:31:17Speaker 8: Broncos offensive line is as good as advertised, I wouldn't
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: want to give Stidham any wider open windows than need
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: to be. Like like Kevin said, you know, put some
- 1:31:28Speaker 8: zones out there, see if he throws one to you, yeah,
- 1:31:31Speaker 8: you know, and maybe try to play.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: It that way. Joe backs up exactly what you were
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: just saying earlier about the early defensive successes. Joe in Michigan,
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: those who watched Denver closely, Schlareth, you know him, he's
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: out there, that says Broncos d has been leaking since November,
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: and Patriots would be able to both run and pass
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: against them. Since November thirtieth, they are giving up twenty
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: six point six points per game. Excluding Kansas City in charges,
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: both who played backup quarterbacks. Buffalo had their way and
- 1:32:01Speaker 2: only unforced errors kill them. I will take our tandem
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: of running backs over Cook and his fumbles. Patriots twenty
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: seven Broncos ten so match. Flarith says they've been leaking. Yeah,
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: I agree. I agree.
- 1:32:17Speaker 8: You know, it's like there was a time during this
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: season where you know, and Fred Toucher on the Sports
- 1:32:23Speaker 8: Hub was one of the first to start trumpeting Denver,
- 1:32:27Speaker 8: and you know, everybody's, Oh, you don't want to face
- 1:32:29Speaker 8: that defense. You definitely don't want to face that defense
- 1:32:31Speaker 8: in Denver. So you know, you start to see them
- 1:32:34Speaker 8: a little bit and you're like, this is the defense,
- 1:32:36Speaker 8: you know, the one that Marcus Mariota went down the
- 1:32:38Speaker 8: field at the end of regulation to send the game
- 1:32:39Speaker 8: into overtime and then fell behind by a touchdown and
- 1:32:42Speaker 8: then went right down the field again in overtime and
- 1:32:44Speaker 8: scored another touchdown. This this is this is that defense
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: I'm supposed to be afraid of. Like, again, it's a
- 1:32:51Speaker 8: good group. I don't think it's that good. I know
- 1:32:54Speaker 8: you don't really like that phrase. They're not that good. Mean,
- 1:32:57Speaker 8: it's like they stink. That I'm not saying they stink,
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: saying they're not elite.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Tim and Boston gonna use some logic on us here, Paul,
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: the Chargers defense is better than the Patriots defense, and
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: Drake may play better than Justin Herbert.
- 1:33:12Speaker 8: I don't think the Chargers defense is better than the
- 1:33:13Speaker 8: Patriots defense right now.
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: Reject the premise the Texans defense is better than the
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: Patriots defense and Drake may play better than c. J.
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: Stroud that I would agree with you.
- 1:33:24Speaker 8: I think the Texas defense was better than the Patriots
- 1:33:26Speaker 8: defense on Sunday, and I thought the Patriots defense was
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: outstanding Sunday.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: The fumbles have to go. But your quarterback outplayed the
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: opposing quarterback against a better defense, and that's a big
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: part of why you won.
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: So no, it's not the defense is why you won
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: both of those games.
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:33:42Speaker 8: Your quarterback outplayed the other team's quarterback, who both played
- 1:33:47Speaker 8: really really poorly.
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: So that's a low lower quarterback didn't stink like their
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: quarterback like.
- 1:33:53Speaker 8: The performances of the Patriots defense and the Houston defense
- 1:33:57Speaker 8: were much closer than than what CJ. Stroud did compared
- 1:34:01Speaker 8: to any other quarterback. Like that was bad. Four interceptions
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: in the first half of a playoff game. I don't
- 1:34:07Speaker 8: think it ever happened before, right, Yeah, I mean to
- 1:34:13Speaker 8: say that May outplayed him.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: Yeah, he had three more plays, but I mean.
- 1:34:19Speaker 8: I would say that. Yes, it's true, like he outplayed him,
- 1:34:22Speaker 8: but he didn't play well. Do you know what I'm saying. Yep,
- 1:34:26Speaker 8: he didn't play well in either game. Really, it's hard
- 1:34:31Speaker 8: to read this one.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: Cameron in Dallas, Brady had fifty nine fumbles in its
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: first six seasons in the NFL. After that, it took
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: another twelve years for Brady to reach fifty nine fumbles.
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: What can May do to reduce the number of fumbles
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: where gloves like Brady to flate the ball for better
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: grip like Brady. He's joking, we need to blow yes,
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: he said, I'm Jersey, Yes, we need to blow out
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: Denver to leave no doubt in anyone's mind that bo
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: Nicks would never have won the game for them. Patriots
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: thirty one, Denver thirteen.
- 1:35:04Speaker 8: So I'm just gonna set you up for disappointment no
- 1:35:08Speaker 8: matter what. There's no amount of points they can win
- 1:35:11Speaker 8: this game by, and to get anybody who thinks the
- 1:35:13Speaker 8: Broncos would have won with bow Nicks to change their mind.
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: I'm sorry, that's not gonna happen. Right, They're gonna use
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: They're gonna hold that against us, But don't worry about it.
- 1:35:22Speaker 8: I don't know why that would bother you. We'll be
- 1:35:24Speaker 8: in the super Bowl while you're in Santa Clara. I
- 1:35:26Speaker 8: don't know why you you know, like you would continue
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: to listen to that kind of noise and have it
- 1:35:31Speaker 8: affect you, but you do.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: You. Let's see quig and taunting a few quick points.
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: What a difference in the year makes. Who would have
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: thought would be in this position? Nobody's made that point before. Uh,
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: it's important that people it's important that people stop criticizing
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: Will Campbell. He is a twenty two year old playing
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: through a knee injury on his plant leg. Since he's
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: clearly not one hundred percent, Josh needs to provide him
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: with some additional help. And finally, we have not lost
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: the game this year when Milton, Williams, Splaine, and Gonzales
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: have been in the lineup together. We haven't also lost
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: a game with Drake May under center. Well, that's not true.
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: We lost two three games. Well, how could you possibly
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: have said that? I don't know.
- 1:36:17Speaker 8: So the helping Will Campbell thing, I'm just telling you
- 1:36:22Speaker 8: what Will Campbell said after the game.
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: Did you see this?
- 1:36:25Speaker 8: Bill Campbell felt like the help hurt him, like he
- 1:36:30Speaker 8: felt like he was dependent on it. No, he felt
- 1:36:32Speaker 8: like he didn't He didn't play as well when he
- 1:36:34Speaker 8: was getting the help. And I brought up the possibility
- 1:36:41Speaker 8: that he's not at one hundred percent right now. I
- 1:36:43Speaker 8: said that yesterday. I don't I don't say that as
- 1:36:46Speaker 8: an excuse. If you're out there playing, you have to
- 1:36:48Speaker 8: play like this whole twenty two year old rookie thing
- 1:36:51Speaker 8: on a bad like he's playing so well, you have
- 1:36:53Speaker 8: to evaluate how he plays right, and he hasn't played well.
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: Matt writes in about the fund again, he's wondering if
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: Drake should try the offhand glove that Brady ended up adopting.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: Tom had thirty six fumbles in his first three years,
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: so it seems like it was an issue for him
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: as well until he figured it out.
- 1:37:14Speaker 8: Yeah, so I would say that the fumbles that May
- 1:37:17Speaker 8: has in general are not like glovery related there when
- 1:37:21Speaker 8: he's trying to hold onto the ball and he gets
- 1:37:25Speaker 8: it knocked out of his hands while he's throwing. Do
- 1:37:27Speaker 8: you know what I'm saying? Right, he hasn't had a
- 1:37:29Speaker 8: lot Like he brings the ball down and puts two
- 1:37:32Speaker 8: hands on it and he gets knocked out of his hands.
- 1:37:34Speaker 8: He's had him when he's trying to extend plays and
- 1:37:37Speaker 8: you know, like the case on Sunday with one of
- 1:37:40Speaker 8: them when he drifted over to the right side and
- 1:37:43Speaker 8: was getting pushed into as he threw it and the
- 1:37:45Speaker 8: guy knocked it out from behind. Like, I don't think
- 1:37:48Speaker 8: gloves are going to be the savior there. Now, I
- 1:37:52Speaker 8: do agree that is something that you can improve, and
- 1:37:56Speaker 8: Brady did all the people that had given you, Brady
- 1:37:59Speaker 8: number a lot of that hocket awareness, right. But that's
- 1:38:02Speaker 8: to me where it starts and kind of ends. It's
- 1:38:05Speaker 8: not about gloves.
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: Another fan club notice big Facebook group called Patriots Nation
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: Natty and Ati in Cincinnati. Nice meets in Cincinnati every
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: weekend for the games. You have to join the group
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: to get the address.
- 1:38:22Speaker 16: Uh.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: The admin is from mass and makes a big metal
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: jug of clam chowder. So if you're in Cincinnati check
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: out the Facebook group called Patriots Nation, Natty and Ati
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: and find out where they're meeting. If you want to
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: be with the stuff, good stuff, like minded Patriots fans. Okay,
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: let's get back to the phones. Let's go to Darren
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: in Delaware. What's up, Darren, Darren you're there.
- 1:38:51Speaker 17: Yeah, yeah, I'm right here.
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: Hello you guys.
- 1:38:55Speaker 4: Call Fred.
- 1:38:56Speaker 17: I've called several times in the past. We had some
- 1:38:59Speaker 17: of my kind of converse stations. I haven't called Sister
- 1:39:02Speaker 17: Brady years. I actually let somebody get to me, like
- 1:39:05Speaker 17: one of the other callers for emailers told me I
- 1:39:09Speaker 17: was in the Patriots saying lost my mind. I don't
- 1:39:12Speaker 17: know if you guys remember I said I missed Andy,
- 1:39:14Speaker 17: and now I just know I missed the arguments.
- 1:39:17Speaker 25: Yeah, now that we're back and we're.
- 1:39:20Speaker 17: Going to winning another Super Bowl, I was just thinking
- 1:39:23Speaker 17: eventually they're going to say that Drake me is better
- 1:39:25Speaker 17: than Tom Brady because he'll have this sting that Tom
- 1:39:28Speaker 17: Brady never did. I really just let you guys, wanted
- 1:39:32Speaker 17: to talk to you, And what do you think about
- 1:39:34Speaker 17: what I asked you?
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: Thank you? Okay, what if he is?
- 1:39:39Speaker 8: Yeah, do you rule it out? Drake May is better
- 1:39:44Speaker 8: than Tom Brady Man. Obviously, obviously we need twenty years
- 1:39:49Speaker 8: to wait. But yeah, I mean, like I'm not a
- 1:39:52Speaker 8: big thing on like we'll never see another fill in
- 1:39:54Speaker 8: the blank. Again, I'm not big on those.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: In terms of just raw talent, he's better. But what
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: we don't know is does he have it up here?
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: Does he have that?
- 1:40:05Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean that does he have consistency?
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: Consistency, but that you know, I don't know what. I
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: don't know what word you'd use to describe it, but
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: I just didn't want to lose. And he was so
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: good when the stage was the biggest in the moments
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: were the biggest. We don't know that yet from Drake
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: May and what Brady had we had never seen before.
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: So there's been more. I mean, you know it's going
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: to be you know, like wise, he's he's got amazing.
- 1:40:34Speaker 8: But I'm just going to talk about what he's done.
- 1:40:37Speaker 8: And again, we need twenty years before we can, you know,
- 1:40:41Speaker 8: aptly make a comparison. But tell me six the offense
- 1:40:44Speaker 8: that let's say the Patriots win these two games and
- 1:40:47Speaker 8: they win the super Bowl. Okay, the offense has had
- 1:40:51Speaker 8: a much bigger imprint on this title. In his second
- 1:40:57Speaker 8: year as a starter than it did in No. One
- 1:40:59Speaker 8: with Brady. Now, I'm not telling you Brady didn't have
- 1:41:01Speaker 8: anything to do with that title, but he was great
- 1:41:03Speaker 8: when when he had to be. He was great with
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: games on the line and comebacks and whatnot. But that
- 1:41:08Speaker 8: was a defensive oriented team and that's how they won
- 1:41:11Speaker 8: every game.
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: But at the end of the game and against the Rams, no, no,
- 1:41:15Speaker 2: he was leading that drive. There was a lot of times.
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: But the reason why he was able to lead the
- 1:41:19Speaker 8: drive is because the Rams only had seventeen points, right, yep,
- 1:41:23Speaker 8: you know. So I would say the offense has been
- 1:41:26Speaker 8: a more important part of this team's success than it wasn't.
- 1:41:29Speaker 8: Oh one, that doesn't mean he's better than Brady. But again,
- 1:41:33Speaker 8: I don't like saying, well, no, there'll never be another
- 1:41:35Speaker 8: Tom Brady again. Yeah, they probably will be, right, just
- 1:41:40Speaker 8: like no one will ever do what the Patriots did
- 1:41:42Speaker 8: for Trent. Yeah, someone probably will. Like it's just the
- 1:41:45Speaker 8: way sports work.
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: People probably said no one's going to go under, you know,
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: do what Montana did, right, and then Brady outdid him.
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: You know, So there's always going to be It just
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: depends on how long you have to wait.
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: For it.
- 1:41:57Speaker 8: Yeah, and we may not see it right, you know,
- 1:42:00Speaker 8: in our lifetimes. You know, in what I put Drake
- 1:42:04Speaker 8: May's odds being very good to surpass Brady.
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: No, I wouldn't.
- 1:42:08Speaker 8: I think what Brady did was different. It just was,
- 1:42:12Speaker 8: you know, seven titles.
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: We shouldn't go uh this show without mentioning how tightly
- 1:42:22Speaker 2: shut the window is now in Buffalo.
- 1:42:24Speaker 8: So I'm with Fred.
- 1:42:25Speaker 5: Now.
- 1:42:26Speaker 8: There was a press conference in Buffalo this morning with
- 1:42:28Speaker 8: Terry Pagoula, the owner of the Bills, and Brandon Bean,
- 1:42:33Speaker 8: the charlatan that is, cozied up to said owner and
- 1:42:37Speaker 8: somehow convinced the owner that the Bills had a lot
- 1:42:41Speaker 8: of talent this year, nothing to see here, and that
- 1:42:45Speaker 8: it was all that idiot coach's fault. And I now
- 1:42:49Speaker 8: agree with Fred that that kind of dysfunction window is shut.
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: I'm with Fred.
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: Wow, and I'm not it only took ten years only.
- 1:43:00Speaker 8: I'm not doing that for a fact. I'm not trying
- 1:43:02Speaker 8: to you know, I have a big, you know, funny
- 1:43:04Speaker 8: moment here. If you haven't heard, if you haven't seen
- 1:43:08Speaker 8: some of the stuff that came out of Buffalo this morning,
- 1:43:11Speaker 8: and you're a Patriots fan and you love the shaden
- 1:43:13Speaker 8: freud of the rivals sort of you know, falling apart.
- 1:43:18Speaker 8: Do yourself a favor and spend five minutes looking up
- 1:43:21Speaker 8: some of the quotes that came out of bills the
- 1:43:23Speaker 8: bills today, and they will make you feel better about
- 1:43:27Speaker 8: the Patriots and where you are and where the Bills
- 1:43:30Speaker 8: are likely headed. You know they were. They basically said
- 1:43:34Speaker 8: that Sean McDermott was the reason why they drafted keyon Coleman,
- 1:43:39Speaker 8: you know, one of those things instead of the three
- 1:43:41Speaker 8: other options they had that they traded out of spots for.
- 1:43:46Speaker 15: All.
- 1:43:47Speaker 8: All that they kept saying was Pagola kept taking bean'side
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: and saying they had the talent to win. And I'm
- 1:43:54Speaker 8: sorry if you watched football this year and you thought
- 1:43:57Speaker 8: Buffalo was anywhere near as talented this year as they
- 1:44:00Speaker 8: have been the last five, you just don't know what
- 1:44:04Speaker 8: you've watched. And somehow the general manager convinced the owner
- 1:44:09Speaker 8: that that was the coach's fault, that they didn't have
- 1:44:12Speaker 8: the options to go to. I just astounded by it,
- 1:44:17Speaker 8: like it was some eye opening stuff. It's the age
- 1:44:21Speaker 8: old thing. The GM sits next to the owner while
- 1:44:24Speaker 8: the games are going on, and every time something goes bad,
- 1:44:26Speaker 8: he's there to tell you, yeah, he's not using the
- 1:44:29Speaker 8: players right, or he's not getting the most out of
- 1:44:31Speaker 8: that guy, or this should really be better. I'm telling you,
- 1:44:36Speaker 8: it's the definition of one of those dysfunctional situations. And
- 1:44:40Speaker 8: it's not they're going to be in trouble. They're going
- 1:44:42Speaker 8: to be in trouble unless they turn around, they spend
- 1:44:47Speaker 8: some money in the offseason and they improve that roster
- 1:44:49Speaker 8: dramatically because they're not good enough right now. If they
- 1:44:52Speaker 8: think they're good enough and they sit on their hands
- 1:44:54Speaker 8: and they just think a new coach is going to
- 1:44:56Speaker 8: get them father, it ain't gonna happen.
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: I want to get a billboard in Buffalo.
- 1:45:01Speaker 8: I will open the window.
- 1:45:02Speaker 2: Ball it's going to be is a big, bare ass
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: with a Patriots logo on it, because that's what the
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: Bills are going to be looking at for the next
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: ten years.
- 1:45:10Speaker 8: I will open the window based on an offseason that
- 1:45:13Speaker 8: is productive. If they want to do what the Patriots
- 1:45:16Speaker 8: did last offseason and sign a half dozen or so
- 1:45:18Speaker 8: quality free agents, I'll sit here and say, hey, Brandon
- 1:45:22Speaker 8: bean I was I was wrong. He recognized that they
- 1:45:24Speaker 8: didn't have the talent what I heard today was two
- 1:45:28Speaker 8: guys that think that they were good enough to go
- 1:45:29Speaker 8: further than they did in these playoffs. They had one
- 1:45:32Speaker 8: guy who was good enough to go further than he did,
- 1:45:34Speaker 8: and unfortunately for Josh Allen, he picked the wrong day
- 1:45:37Speaker 8: to have a bad game. But and it's on him.
- 1:45:40Speaker 8: They lost the game because of Josh Allen. Like, I'm
- 1:45:42Speaker 8: if that's that's why they lost. That's unfair that like
- 1:45:46Speaker 8: one guy, but the only Josh.
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: That's it.
- 1:45:49Speaker 8: That's no reason why they.
- 1:45:50Speaker 2: Were in the game. So there you go. There's your
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: Bills update. So we can all blah the Bills, Bill
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: and Santa Monica. I've got another reason to be nervous.
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: A few weeks ago, there was an article about Bill
- 1:46:03Speaker 2: Belichick's terrible twenty twenty five. In there, they decided the
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: resurgence of Mac Jones as a quarterback that Bill couldn't
- 1:46:14Speaker 2: develop and now looks fairly capable. What if Stidham has
- 1:46:19Speaker 2: an amazing game and continues Belichick's horrible year into twenty
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: twenty six, could someone please hand me that straw. I'm
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: having a hard time grasping it. Okay, so I don't
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: I guess he's yeah, I mean, I do know that
- 1:46:35Speaker 2: when Stidham was here, a lot of people are like, hey,
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: this kid's not bad. And then he had some incidents
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: in the preseason with can you name a player.
- 1:46:44Speaker 8: That the pick injurytriots media didn't say was good? Oh yeah,
- 1:46:48Speaker 8: I mean, like, how long did it take before people
- 1:46:51Speaker 8: said Nikhil Harry?
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: Was it?
- 1:46:52Speaker 9: Not like this guy was?
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: They drafted him in the fourth round.
- 1:46:55Speaker 8: Yeah, so he's a jag.
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: He's a Day three pick, well, fourth round for a
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: quarterback on a team with Tom Brady. You have to
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: see something in him.
- 1:47:05Speaker 8: No, they were looking for a backup developmental guy.
- 1:47:07Speaker 2: Okay, they took him, all right, they felt he could
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: be developed, right, but they didn't develop him. They put
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: him in the Donal.
- 1:47:12Speaker 8: Who else didn't develop them? Josh McDaniels, Well, he had him.
- 1:47:17Speaker 8: I'm just saying, and he couldn't start there either.
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: I'm just saying, maybe he's a little better.
- 1:47:23Speaker 8: Than I agree with you email grasping that straws.
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: Maybe he's a little better than people think. We don't know.
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: We'll find out seven years. We're gonna find out on Sunday,
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: seven years. Sean's and venture, what's up?
- 1:47:37Speaker 25: Sewan I have a few things, Fred, So you know,
- 1:47:40Speaker 25: no coach outside of Denver knows Jarret did him better
- 1:47:43Speaker 25: than Josh mcdowns. Like you just said, he had him
- 1:47:46Speaker 25: in Vegas as well, so you know he might be
- 1:47:49Speaker 25: in the top forty of NFL quarterbacks. I see the
- 1:47:52Speaker 25: Patriots stopping the run again and forcing them into obvious
- 1:47:56Speaker 25: passing situations, which will favor New England. Now you were
- 1:48:00Speaker 25: talking about how the Patriots built the AFC with all
- 1:48:03Speaker 25: these teams changing their head coach, and you know what's
- 1:48:06Speaker 25: going on in Buffalo and all this craziness. But you know,
- 1:48:09Speaker 25: Rabel might be the coach of the year. You know,
- 1:48:11Speaker 25: so many teams see the Pats quick turnaround and want
- 1:48:15Speaker 25: to copy that approach. But the real fool's gold is
- 1:48:18Speaker 25: thinking you can also achieve that same success because it's
- 1:48:22Speaker 25: more than just hiring the best head coach. You also
- 1:48:25Speaker 25: need to hire excellent experience assistant coaches. All your free
- 1:48:28Speaker 25: agent acquisitions, hit all eleven draft picks, make the team
- 1:48:32Speaker 25: with some.
- 1:48:33Speaker 8: Big You're making it out to be way different than
- 1:48:36Speaker 8: it is, like a lot of teams do it like that.
- 1:48:38Speaker 8: The NFL is set up in a way that this
- 1:48:40Speaker 8: happens all the time, and it happened all the time
- 1:48:43Speaker 8: this year. It happened in other places this year. Yeah,
- 1:48:46Speaker 8: like you can do it. I mean, Washington just did
- 1:48:49Speaker 8: it two years ago. Jacksonville just did it this year,
- 1:48:53Speaker 8: like the Patriots have done it, the Bears. The Bears
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: have done it. Like it's it's the way it's set up.
- 1:48:59Speaker 8: I agree with the owners for thinking it can happen,
- 1:49:02Speaker 8: because it happens all the time. That's like, if you
- 1:49:05Speaker 8: have a guy that you don't think is the guy,
- 1:49:07Speaker 8: what you need to do is make a change and
- 1:49:09Speaker 8: find a guy that you think is the guy. Like,
- 1:49:11Speaker 8: it's not easy. I'm not telling you these coaches grow
- 1:49:14Speaker 8: on trees.
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: They don't.
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: There's a lot of guys that fail. But no one
- 1:49:19Speaker 8: was talking about Liam Cohen last year at this time.
- 1:49:23Speaker 8: No one was saying, oh, Jacksonville really made this quality hot.
- 1:49:25Speaker 8: But all of a sudden, he took him from worse
- 1:49:27Speaker 8: to first or third to worst to first. Yeah, no,
- 1:49:32Speaker 8: it was to this extent.
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: Yeah it was.
- 1:49:35Speaker 8: Chicago did the same thing, worse to first.
- 1:49:39Speaker 25: But four wins two years in a row to like
- 1:49:40Speaker 25: fourteen wins that I don't think that's ever happened.
- 1:49:43Speaker 8: To fourteen wins. No, but four wins to twelve wins
- 1:49:47Speaker 8: just happened. I mean, is that not the same?
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: I mean, the Bears were the number one seed in
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: the NFC, so it can happen. It's happened. It happened
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: last year with the Commanders, you know so, and the
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: league gets set up that way. But I do agree
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: Sean a little bit that you know, teams do look
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: at whoever is the team that had success, and it's
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: a copycat league.
- 1:50:13Speaker 8: Correct, It's a very copycat lee and they try to
- 1:50:15Speaker 8: do the same kind of style.
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:18Speaker 8: Now, what I say for you, Sean, is they think
- 1:50:21Speaker 8: it's easy. It ain't easy to have Drake May.
- 1:50:23Speaker 7: Oh no.
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: So that's that's the part that you know what, geez,
- 1:50:27Speaker 8: we got this young coach, we got this guy that
- 1:50:30Speaker 8: does everything like Rabel does, and then we went on
- 1:50:32Speaker 8: and we got you know, a half dozen really good
- 1:50:34Speaker 8: free agents. Why isn't it working because you don't have
- 1:50:36Speaker 8: Drake May.
- 1:50:38Speaker 2: That's why.
- 1:50:38Speaker 25: Yeah, you need that quarterback too. Now, the question I
- 1:50:41Speaker 25: have is the Patriots are the only team undefeated on
- 1:50:43Speaker 25: the road this season. Now, does that give them confidence
- 1:50:47Speaker 25: going into Denver? Or is the playoffs just completely different
- 1:50:49Speaker 25: than you throw up.
- 1:50:51Speaker 2: I think it does because I've heard more than one
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: player say, you know, we're taking it on the road
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: where we've had to say, you know, Drake May said it.
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: I think there's success us in the road. Does give
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: them confidence to go on the road and do it again? Right?
- 1:51:06Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:51:07Speaker 25: Boco, Pat, all right?
- 1:51:08Speaker 8: Thanks Sean, Thanks Sean.
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: Yep, Let's go to Rhino in North Carolina. What's up Rhino?
- 1:51:16Speaker 21: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my pall sure. I've appreciated
- 1:51:21Speaker 21: this discussion about kind of ownership and other teams around
- 1:51:24Speaker 21: the league, and a lot of this stuff with the
- 1:51:26Speaker 21: Bills has made.
- 1:51:27Speaker 7: Me appreciate what we've had here even more. Obviously in
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: the past, Robert Kraft made the bold decision to move
- 1:51:35Speaker 7: on from Pete Carroll, who's been a very successful coach
- 1:51:38Speaker 7: in this league, goes with Bill Belichick, loses the first
- 1:51:41Speaker 7: round pick to do that, and then has the kind
- 1:51:43Speaker 7: of boldness to move on from Belichick and then do
- 1:51:46Speaker 7: what a lot of other owners don't in not compounding
- 1:51:49Speaker 7: a mistake with the hiring of Drawn Mao to move
- 1:51:53Speaker 7: on to Mike Rabel And that's created a lot of
- 1:51:55Speaker 7: the things that we have here, and I'm very grateful
- 1:51:59Speaker 7: for that. And obviously the Patriots had been fortunate and
- 1:52:02Speaker 7: I'm hoping that continues because as we see, a lot
- 1:52:06Speaker 7: of these other well established franchises are in this kind
- 1:52:09Speaker 7: of period of flocks.
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:52:15Speaker 8: Absolutely, yeah, I mean, certainly, the decision to trade draft
- 1:52:23Speaker 8: picks for Bill Belichick is as risky a choice as
- 1:52:27Speaker 8: you can make.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: Oh, he was mildly criticized at the time.
- 1:52:30Speaker 8: I think that was as bold a move as you
- 1:52:32Speaker 8: could possibly make. I don't want I'm not diminishing anything else.
- 1:52:37Speaker 8: I think the other stuff, to me is stuff that
- 1:52:40Speaker 8: most teams would do, like when you have a situation
- 1:52:43Speaker 8: like last year here. And I'm not even talking about
- 1:52:46Speaker 8: winning four games. I'm talking about the dysfunction that was
- 1:52:48Speaker 8: in that locker room, the players constantly talking about how
- 1:52:51Speaker 8: poorly coach they were. I think a lot of owners
- 1:52:54Speaker 8: would have said, I made a mistake here. I got
- 1:52:56Speaker 8: to do something about this.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: I got to move on. Yep, I really do.
- 1:53:00Speaker 8: And I'm not trying to tell you that makes it
- 1:53:02Speaker 8: easy what Robert Craft did or anything like that.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: It ain't.
- 1:53:06Speaker 8: It was an easy for all those draft picks. That's
- 1:53:10Speaker 8: something I don't think a lot of teams. I don't
- 1:53:12Speaker 8: think a lot of owners around the league would have
- 1:53:13Speaker 8: said Bill Belichick is worth those draft picks. I got
- 1:53:16Speaker 8: to make this move. That one, to me is hall
- 1:53:19Speaker 8: of Fame worthy. Yeah, that's why he's a Hall of
- 1:53:22Speaker 8: Fame owner.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: But hopefully Chad in La, the danger zone here in
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: this game is mile High Stadium, cold weather altitude those fans.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: This game is by no means the lock, no matter
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: who's the quarterback. And wondering if Paul is rethinking his
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: take on May being the reason reasons for the Patriots'
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: success now with the playoffs playing out the way it is,
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: Coach Mike is the creative director of this organization. Without
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: that level of stability, how it May be doing, he
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: couldn't handle all this this early in his career, in
- 1:53:51Speaker 2: my uneducated opinion. So does the same go for Bill
- 1:53:54Speaker 2: and Brady? Thoughts talk amongst yourself. So the early success
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: of Drake May when they do the Dynasty documentary, will
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: we'll Rabel, you know, get the credit for that early
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: success or will it be all Drake May.
- 1:54:08Speaker 8: I ain't making that mistake again. I'm gonna give it
- 1:54:12Speaker 8: a Drake May.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: Okay, I'm not.
- 1:54:14Speaker 8: That doesn't mean that Mike Rabel's not a good coach.
- 1:54:16Speaker 8: He's a great coach. He's had a great year, let's
- 1:54:19Speaker 8: put it that way. He's had a great year coaching.
- 1:54:21Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:54:22Speaker 8: But I went down this road. I gave all that
- 1:54:25Speaker 8: credit to Belichick and I was wrong.
- 1:54:27Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:54:27Speaker 8: I'm not doing that again.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: Uh, Jay and Indy. Rabel said he's willing to sacrifice
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: his man part for a super Bowl on the Bust
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: and with the Boys podcast? Are you mentally ready to
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: sacrifice yours for a super Bowl?
- 1:54:40Speaker 16: Now?
- 1:54:40Speaker 2: I that's six and mine not work out well anymore anyway,
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: So maybe I would, So.
- 1:54:50Speaker 8: Freddy, let's go to Dan. I'm not quite prepared to
- 1:54:54Speaker 8: do that.
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: Let's go to Dan and Daytona.
- 1:54:55Speaker 8: What's up Dandy Daytona.
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: Day?
- 1:55:02Speaker 5: There he is.
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: He gets drowned up by the cars going around what's
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: up the ground? Okay?
- 1:55:10Speaker 19: Deep an eye on and keeps going into the grounds,
- 1:55:11Speaker 19: dumping trash into the research.
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: Okay, is that it all?
- 1:55:18Speaker 8: We'll talk to you tomorrow.
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: I think he just he might have just yelled at us.
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: I don't know, did you hear what he said? He
- 1:55:30Speaker 2: said something and then he dropped them.
- 1:55:31Speaker 8: I think he was talking to somebody else.
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: Oh, well, he dropped.
- 1:55:34Speaker 8: I'm not sure he knew we were on.
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: Oh really he was on. I should say. Okay, Breton
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: Lemonster wants to know, he said, Fred, let me know
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: when you start the GoFundMe page where I can contribute
- 1:55:45Speaker 2: to the billboard in Buffalo. We'll do. All right, you're
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: gonna do that. Yeah, we're gonna get a big bear ast.
- 1:55:52Speaker 5: You got to do it.
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you have. This is what they're going to be
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: staring at for the rest of their wives. Tell me
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: how it tastes. Yep, all right, we're gonna end now. Yeah.
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: I don't think Evan, unlike Deuce, Evan doesn't come back
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: from the locker. No, he doesn't. He gets immersed. He
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: loses himself in there.
- 1:56:10Speaker 8: Like he he just basically stands around Drake's locker and
- 1:56:14Speaker 8: like just like stares at him, like, you know, find something,
- 1:56:16Speaker 8: you know, the whole meme, you know, find someone who
- 1:56:18Speaker 8: looks at you the way Evan looks at Drake.
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: May Yep, all right, we will be back tomorrow on Thursday.
- 1:56:24Speaker 5: Have no fear.
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: We'll be wrapping up the week and doing our picks.
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: For the AC Championship game. We got to hurry because
- 1:56:33Speaker 2: we've got two big games that we have to pick,
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: two big games.
- 1:56:37Speaker 8: And watts and praise with DUIs. Hopefully we get him
- 1:56:40Speaker 8: back to.
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: My I know, I don't know. I hope. This is
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: like one of those twenty four hour bugs. All right,
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: talk to you tomorrow.
- 1:56:48Speaker 4: Hey, this is Evan. Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 1:56:50Speaker 26: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 1:56:52Speaker 26: like us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get
- 1:56:56Speaker 26: your podcasts. Also make sure to fall on the New
- 1:56:58Speaker 26: England Patriots YouTube channel see this show and everything else
- 1:57:01Speaker 26: we do here at the Patrons.
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: Thanks a lot
