Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome back to Inside the Tape with Greg Cosell
- 0:11Speaker 1: on the Inside the Birds platform. I'm Jeff Mosher and
- 0:14Speaker 1: of course Greg Cosell is with us to break down
- 0:17Speaker 1: the second part of the Eagles in their sixteen to
- 0:20Speaker 1: nine win over the Lions. In the second part is offense,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and Greg, first was defense. First was not the worst.
- 0:27Speaker 1: First was the best. Now we get to offense, and
- 0:30Speaker 1: for I don't know, the second straight week, it just
- 0:33Speaker 1: does not look great.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And I'm go ahead, I'm truly confused. I mean, I'm
- 0:39Speaker 2: with you. There's I know people want to rip the
- 0:44Speaker 2: coaching staff and that's fine, but there's no way that
- 0:48Speaker 2: Nick Siriani and Kevin Petullo don't know route concepts and
- 0:51Speaker 2: route combinations. There's no way that they don't know these things.
- 0:55Speaker 2: My question is why why does this offense asent look
- 1:00Speaker 2: like a high school offense in the past game with
- 1:04Speaker 2: a quarterback that they're that they're almost playing to protect.
- 1:08Speaker 2: That's the way it looks on tape. You know, I'm
- 1:10Speaker 2: not making a judgment about the talent of Jalen Hurts.
- 1:14Speaker 2: You know, there's no judgment here. This is what the
- 1:17Speaker 2: tape shows. The tape shows a pass game that's very
- 1:20Speaker 2: remedial and elementary in its concepts and combinations. And there's
- 1:24Speaker 2: no way Nick Sirianni doesn't know these things. Nick Sirianni
- 1:28Speaker 2: was in the league for quite a while before he
- 1:30Speaker 2: even got to the Eagles with really, I mean, he
- 1:32Speaker 2: was with Philip Rivers, Okay, so he knows these things.
- 1:37Speaker 2: You know. Kevin Pittulo has been in the league long enough.
- 1:39Speaker 2: He knows these things too. You know. I talked to
- 1:41Speaker 2: coaches in the off season. You know, I've been to
- 1:44Speaker 2: training camps. All these coaches know these things, believe me.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So I'm truly more surprised and befuddled than anything else.
- 1:55Speaker 2: That's the way I feel when I watch the Eagles
- 1:57Speaker 2: offensive tape.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I am with you. I've spent the last you know,
- 2:01Speaker 1: since the end of the game till now to get
- 2:03Speaker 1: to talk to you about it. I'm really wrestling with
- 2:06Speaker 1: a lot of things, and it's we understand what the
- 2:09Speaker 1: offense is. It's been that way for years. It's probably
- 2:13Speaker 1: I would say it's struggled in the past, and we've
- 2:15Speaker 1: pointed out, but it's always peaked in Valley. It would
- 2:17Speaker 1: have some bad games followed by some really good ones,
- 2:19Speaker 1: then some medium ones, but it feels like lately this
- 2:23Speaker 1: is sort of bottom of the barrel even for this
- 2:26Speaker 1: pass offense. And the one thing that jumps out to
- 2:28Speaker 1: me is what you just said, and I really wanted
- 2:30Speaker 1: to get into it with you, is that. And I'm
- 2:33Speaker 1: not suggesting that they are not trying, but they are
- 2:36Speaker 1: not necessarily adding or it doesn't look like they've added
- 2:41Speaker 1: something to try to switch it up to help it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You know, when we talk about the run game under
- 2:46Speaker 1: center was a radically different thing. They hadn't done that
- 2:49Speaker 1: right jumbo package. That's it. They're trying, They're doing things differently.
- 2:54Speaker 1: But to your point, I feel like looking at I
- 2:56Speaker 1: almost can call out what I think the route concepts
- 2:59Speaker 1: are gonna be versus certain coverages, because that's just what
- 3:02Speaker 1: they do. And I wonder if the mindset is we
- 3:04Speaker 1: win this way, it works, we don't turn the ball over,
- 3:07Speaker 1: so I don't care if we only but you know
- 3:10Speaker 1: that they want to be more functional.
- 3:12Speaker 2: So the question is and that's why I struggle with
- 3:15Speaker 2: the answer, because what it says to me is why
- 3:18Speaker 2: you know, Look, you know, I've made a lot of
- 3:22Speaker 2: notes on on towards the end of watching this tape
- 3:25Speaker 2: because I was just researching the Eagles, and you know
- 3:27Speaker 2: you saw it because I send it to you. You
- 3:29Speaker 2: know what they ultimately are and have to be, and
- 3:33Speaker 2: they're trying to get there. That's why they played so
- 3:36Speaker 2: much twelve personnel in this game. They're kind of searching
- 3:38Speaker 2: and groping Jeff for how to get back to what
- 3:41Speaker 2: they have to be, which is run game foundation, big play.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Passing hurts his legs a factor both by design and
- 3:48Speaker 2: off schedule. He did have two quarterback draws in this
- 3:51Speaker 2: game that mattered and got first downs. They're not a
- 3:55Speaker 2: sustaining passing team. They weren't even a year ago. The
- 3:59Speaker 2: key fact, one of the key factors is they don't
- 4:01Speaker 2: turn the ball over. But this year they've been really
- 4:04Speaker 2: poor on third down relative to they were a year ago.
- 4:07Speaker 2: They've only gained three hundred yards of total offense in
- 4:10Speaker 2: five games this year, and two of those games they
- 4:13Speaker 2: had three hundred and two yards. In today's NFL, that's
- 4:17Speaker 2: really really bad. Yeah, Barkley's had two rushes of twenty
- 4:21Speaker 2: or more yards, both in the same game. Last year
- 4:24Speaker 2: he had seventeen of them, you know, so it's it's
- 4:29Speaker 2: been bad and I just I don't have an answer
- 4:32Speaker 2: for this. I wish I did. I wish I had
- 4:34Speaker 2: a profound statement to make. But like I said, I'm
- 4:37Speaker 2: not trying to knock anybody. It's just this is what
- 4:39Speaker 2: the tape shows, right, They're just it's it looks like
- 4:43Speaker 2: a remedial, elementary offense in the past game.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you. I can understand why players
- 4:50Speaker 1: are frustrated. I thought the offense. I want to ask
- 4:53Speaker 1: about the offensive line. I thought rum blocking. Again, I
- 4:58Speaker 1: know it's a good defensive line front. I thought Cam
- 5:00Speaker 1: Jurgens and you didn't have this in your notes, but
- 5:02Speaker 1: just watching a couple of plays that I picked out too,
- 5:05Speaker 1: maybe his the athleticism that he's normally had, I just
- 5:08Speaker 1: don't think it's there.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Well, I got hurt again too, So they did they
- 5:12Speaker 2: not disclose the injury? Have they disclosed it.
- 5:14Speaker 1: At the time of us recording this, they have not
- 5:16Speaker 1: yet disclosed the injury to my knowledge.
- 5:19Speaker 2: So so I mean, who knows if he's because obviously
- 5:21Speaker 2: Tough came in and played the last twelve thirteen snaps
- 5:24Speaker 2: of the game, and it was interesting the first play
- 5:26Speaker 2: he was in and it only gained two yards. I
- 5:28Speaker 2: think but they used him on a pull because right
- 5:31Speaker 2: now he's actually more athletic than Jurgons, just doesn't look
- 5:35Speaker 2: like himself.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Correct, and that hurts. I mean, I think that we
- 5:39Speaker 1: talk about the run game being foundational and foundational to
- 5:43Speaker 1: their run game over the years, whether it's Kelsey, whether
- 5:46Speaker 1: it's Jurgons, whether it's Dickerson playing in there is that
- 5:49Speaker 1: they run inside zone, they run duo, they run between tackles,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and if you're looking for exhibit A, they're just not
- 5:55Speaker 1: able to do that. No, Dickerson's getting better, I think
- 5:58Speaker 1: because we're not talking about him as much, but just
- 6:00Speaker 1: in general, up the middle is not where they're getting pushed.
- 6:04Speaker 2: No, So it's it's you know, the run game's not
- 6:07Speaker 2: been there. The pass game, I mean, it's never been
- 6:10Speaker 2: truly a sustaining pass game in a strict sense. But
- 6:13Speaker 2: there the big plays have not been there. I mean, look,
- 6:16Speaker 2: they had one pass play of twenty or more yards
- 6:18Speaker 2: in this game, and that was the third quarter outside
- 6:20Speaker 2: of structure play with you know, Hurts out of his
- 6:23Speaker 2: own end zone made the great throw throw and it
- 6:25Speaker 2: was a great throw to doctor would adjusted his route.
- 6:28Speaker 2: But other than that, I mean, they really don't get
- 6:31Speaker 2: much in terms of a structured pass game. You know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: they don't get much in the way of explosive plays.
- 6:36Speaker 1: M yeah, hey man, eighty five, twenty twenty five. I
- 6:40Speaker 1: guess forty years later the Eagles are trying to be
- 6:43Speaker 1: the eighty five Bears. Right, Just bully everybody that defensively
- 6:46Speaker 1: and score a few points a game and see if
- 6:49Speaker 1: that were.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Yeah, they're there. It's Look, the bottom line is, no
- 6:52Speaker 2: matter what you say about the Eagles, the response and
- 6:55Speaker 2: there's no way to argue it as they're eight and two,
- 6:57Speaker 2: yeah and that, and that's the mathematical equation. But true,
- 7:03Speaker 2: you know as well as I do that no one's
- 7:04Speaker 2: happy in the building about the way the offense is playing. Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I joked with a friend the other day, Greg that
- 7:10Speaker 1: I think I'm resigned to the fact that the Super
- 7:12Speaker 1: Bowl is going to be the Bear the Eagles and
- 7:14Speaker 1: the Broncos, and one of the teams is going to
- 7:16Speaker 1: win it five to two.
- 7:17Speaker 2: There you go, right, right right, and in the books.
- 7:21Speaker 2: But we certainly won't get a complete game because you
- 7:23Speaker 2: don't get any of those anymore either.
- 7:25Speaker 1: No, it's fact those two teams are pretty strikingly similar.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Everything very similar. Interesting. There's one last thing I did
- 7:33Speaker 1: want to ask you offensively, just from a oh the
- 7:39Speaker 1: The one positive I'm taking is that we've talked about
- 7:43Speaker 1: Hurts in the run, the designed quarterback draw on when
- 7:47Speaker 1: you go empty spread it out. There was one against
- 7:50Speaker 1: the Lion, well two against Lions, but one I'm pretty
- 7:52Speaker 1: sure they knew it was coming and they still couldn't
- 7:54Speaker 1: stop it. The second one because yeah, that was of empty.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And my sense was watching that play that Barnes was
- 8:01Speaker 2: deployed as a spy, but I thought he got too
- 8:04Speaker 2: aggressive and he attacked Hurts rather than controlling Hurts, and
- 8:09Speaker 2: he attacked him from one side and Hurts just you know,
- 8:11Speaker 2: ran to the other. But it was a quarterback draw anyway.
- 8:13Speaker 2: So so but yeah, they had two quarterback draws and
- 8:17Speaker 2: both of them gained you know, ten plus yards and
- 8:19Speaker 2: got first downs.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Right amazing. And then last week against the Packer or
- 8:23Speaker 1: Monday night, they had a really successful one that would
- 8:26Speaker 1: have been if he didn't fumble at the end of.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The day out.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But yeah, so again, the run game has has had
- 8:32Speaker 1: its wrinkles and changeups, but still waiting for that in
- 8:36Speaker 1: the past game we'll see we'll see if it if
- 8:39Speaker 1: it's against the Cowboys or at some point soon.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I mean, who would have thought? Okay, just think of
- 8:45Speaker 2: it this way. You know, I don't play fantasy, but
- 8:47Speaker 2: I'm sure Barkley was like the number one fantasy guy
- 8:50Speaker 2: based on what he did a year ago. And right
- 8:52Speaker 2: now Barkley's the fourteenth fleeting rusher in the NFL, you know,
- 8:56Speaker 2: And who would have thought that? No?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Certainly not me. Hey it's Jeff. Oh sure. And if

- 11:40Speaker 1: let's take a look at some of the footage here, Greg,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and we'll start off with some positive things because there
- 11:45Speaker 1: were some good throws, some good runs that we'll get
- 11:47Speaker 1: into first. Obviously, the first one was a really nice
- 11:50Speaker 1: throw and catch between Jalen Hurts and aj Brown very
- 11:55Speaker 1: early in the game. It's an eleven yard pickup here.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Do you remember this play?
- 12:00Speaker 2: And yeah, this was third and ten on the first possession.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Came versus Alliance five man overload blitz concept. It hurts
- 12:07Speaker 2: front side. Hurts through this with really good timing. He
- 12:10Speaker 2: threw the sideline stop wrapped to Brown. Yes, sin was
- 12:13Speaker 2: an off coverage so Brown was not disrupted on his
- 12:17Speaker 2: vertical stem. He slipped, so he ended up having to
- 12:20Speaker 2: make a tough catch because he slipped. But it was
- 12:23Speaker 2: the timing was there, and it you know, it worked.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I mean, this is this is just good football. Corners
- 12:29Speaker 2: off you throw this route, it's you know, if he
- 12:32Speaker 2: doesn't slip, it's pitch and catch, right.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I mean the ability to make this catch while you're
- 12:36Speaker 1: reaching up on your knees and getting drilled in the
- 12:38Speaker 1: back is pretty impressive.
- 12:41Speaker 2: It's a great catch.
- 12:43Speaker 1: All right. Let's talk about the best run sake one
- 12:45Speaker 1: had off a play called ninety flip, which we have
- 12:48Speaker 1: talked about. This is not John d Flippo, not that flip.
- 12:51Speaker 2: No, No, it's ninety flip.
- 12:52Speaker 1: It's a flip of direction.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I don't know everybody else calls it that. I remember
- 12:56Speaker 2: that's what the Rams called it when I you know,
- 12:58Speaker 2: with Mike Martz, and so I just that in my
- 13:00Speaker 2: mind it's ninety flip.
- 13:02Speaker 1: I like it sounds. It's a fun name. So this
- 13:04Speaker 1: works off misdirection basically.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's yes, because what you're going to see
- 13:08Speaker 2: is if you run it, you're gonna see the left
- 13:11Speaker 2: guard Dickerson pull and and that's meant to control the
- 13:15Speaker 2: second level and it does look at the second level defenders,
- 13:18Speaker 2: and now it clears the edge for Barkley, so it's
- 13:21Speaker 2: a flip out to Barkley and the edge is clear.
- 13:25Speaker 1: It's a great play design. I think this is one
- 13:27Speaker 1: where you credit the play design.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Uh oh, this is a design.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yeah, because you know how like some passes we say
- 13:33Speaker 1: are zero read passes, this is a non blocking play.
- 13:36Speaker 1: The block is supposed to take everybody away from.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And it does. This play worked really well. Yep.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Absolutely, I wanted to. I didn't know if this one
- 13:45Speaker 1: stood out to you watching the play from this angle,
- 13:48Speaker 1: but obviously Jurgens is the only one who's out on
- 13:50Speaker 1: the side, and I was watching him and I just
- 13:53Speaker 1: I feel like he just didn't look at like his
- 13:55Speaker 1: normal explosion. You know, he's he's behind the play. Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: he's supposed to be usually. I remember when Kelsey was
- 14:01Speaker 1: that he'd be out in front like mall yeah.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But even in that regard, but even Jurgens had that athleticism.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Maybe that was the first sign of me. I'm like,
- 14:10Speaker 1: maybe he's just not, you know, athletically at the level.
- 14:13Speaker 2: I'm curious when they do disclose the injury what it is,
- 14:15Speaker 2: whether it means he's out, because we now know Lane
- 14:17Speaker 2: Johnson's out for four to six weeks, so you will
- 14:21Speaker 2: see what happens with Jurgons.
- 14:22Speaker 1: All right, here we have what I thought was a
- 14:24Speaker 1: really nice throw a slant right from Hurts to aj
- 14:28Speaker 1: Brown and that get that sets up a touchdown. Barkley
- 14:31Speaker 1: gets the run and then he's not in and then
- 14:33Speaker 1: Hurts finishes it off with the with the keeper touchdown.
- 14:37Speaker 2: So this was Brown eleven yards and on second and
- 14:40Speaker 2: three on the on the second quarter touchdown drive where
- 14:43Speaker 2: it's a quick slan versus Yasin's pressman coverage off what
- 14:47Speaker 2: I call conventional bank play action, meaning it's under center.
- 14:51Speaker 2: And you see what when I say bank play action,
- 14:53Speaker 2: it's three step drop timing. That's why I call it
- 14:56Speaker 2: bank play action. This is normally not a play they
- 14:59Speaker 2: run a lot of. And the reason they don't run
- 15:01Speaker 2: a lot of this is because Hurts is not truly
- 15:04Speaker 2: a compact thrower, and this kind of play requires a
- 15:07Speaker 2: real compact delivery. But but Brown does a great job
- 15:12Speaker 2: of beating us in the passing. Liane is there because
- 15:14Speaker 2: you have the run element to it, and he puts
- 15:17Speaker 2: it on him and you know he gets it down
- 15:19Speaker 2: and it sets up the touchdown yep.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And I know that that's the read and that's the
- 15:23Speaker 1: defined read, but it is still a throw between the numbers,
- 15:25Speaker 1: between a couple of defense.
- 15:28Speaker 2: The only way you wouldn't throw it is if you
- 15:29Speaker 2: as you're getting ready to throw someone sitting there. But
- 15:32Speaker 2: it's a one read throw. You know, you're not really
- 15:35Speaker 2: I mean three step you're not reading anything three steps,
- 15:38Speaker 2: particularly when you turn your back right.
- 15:41Speaker 1: But we've seen Hurts kind of make these throws, but
- 15:43Speaker 1: on those kinds of and and that goes back to
- 15:45Speaker 1: the question, could you figure out a way to incorporate
- 15:49Speaker 1: that a little bit more into the offense?
- 15:51Speaker 2: Yep, that's good play. It's it's a really good play.
- 15:57Speaker 1: All right, So let's take a look at just a
- 15:59Speaker 1: couple of Barkley runs. This is up the middle. I mean,
- 16:01Speaker 1: he really really struggled to find space and push. I
- 16:06Speaker 1: don't know if this one will just jumped out to you,
- 16:08Speaker 1: Greg because it's a run, but we'll take a look
- 16:11Speaker 1: at it. He's gonna wind up getting dropped for minus
- 16:14Speaker 1: one on here. This is not true.
- 16:17Speaker 2: This was the run where I again I'm always leary
- 16:20Speaker 2: of talking about a running back's vision just because you
- 16:23Speaker 2: don't know, but this was a run where I thought, again,
- 16:28Speaker 2: like I said, you know, I could be one hundred
- 16:30Speaker 2: percent wrong, Jeff, and I'm saying that honestly, sure, but
- 16:33Speaker 2: I thought that there, you know, because this was a
- 16:35Speaker 2: short yardage play. Yes, yeah, this was. He only needed
- 16:39Speaker 2: one yard to get a first down if I'm not
- 16:41Speaker 2: mistaken on this moving track and if you just run it.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I just thought, I mean, look here, go back just
- 16:49Speaker 2: a little bit. If you can go back to when
- 16:51Speaker 2: he takes the ball right there, just follow that you
- 16:54Speaker 2: need one yard. When I saw this play, I thought, okay,
- 16:57Speaker 2: he's gonna go you know, inside of of sixty nine
- 17:01Speaker 2: and and you know, and inside of my Alotta and
- 17:04Speaker 2: he's gonna get you know, the yard or two or
- 17:06Speaker 2: whatever it is, right, and he just ran up the
- 17:09Speaker 2: back of Dickerson. Yeah again. You know, I don't want
- 17:14Speaker 2: to you know, Barkley's Barkley. He's obviously, you know, one
- 17:17Speaker 2: of the better backs in the league. I've never played
- 17:19Speaker 2: running backs, so I'm not going to sit here and say,
- 17:21Speaker 2: you know, but it just struck me as what there
- 17:24Speaker 2: was space there he needed one yard?
- 17:26Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, no, I agree with you, Dickerson. Laine really
- 17:30Speaker 1: got pushed back.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Here, Yeah he did.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Blaine must have been I think it's fair to say,
- 17:35Speaker 1: like Lane Blaine was must not have been at one
- 17:37Speaker 1: hundred percent. Obviously suffered to Liz Frank in the game,
- 17:40Speaker 1: but he already was dealing with the ankle.
- 17:42Speaker 2: I'm just hoping that this is not the last year
- 17:44Speaker 2: of Lane Johnson being like a really good player, because
- 17:47Speaker 2: there's just been times this year where he hasn't quite
- 17:49Speaker 2: been the guy we've seen who's the first ballot Hall
- 17:51Speaker 2: of Fame without question.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Right now, that's fair, and so Barkley could have hit
- 17:56Speaker 1: that hole too, but also zero push. I mean, they're
- 17:59Speaker 1: they're the Primmage got reset on on their side between Dickerson, Lane,
- 18:03Speaker 1: Johnson and Calcata. There's just nowhere to go on that one. Uh,
- 18:09Speaker 1: here's another one. This is going to be Barkley getting
- 18:13Speaker 1: minus three. I think Jurgens just can't make the angle
- 18:17Speaker 1: block that we usually have seen him be able to make.
- 18:21Speaker 1: He just sort of gets yeah, yeah, you know, yeah.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I mean he he didn't. I would say he didn't
- 18:30Speaker 2: really fire off the ball there very well. Yeah.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I mean, I think there's just right now and I'm
- 18:34Speaker 1: not trying to criticize him. I he's playing hurt or
- 18:37Speaker 1: just not.
- 18:38Speaker 2: You know a lot of uh, one term that's often used,
- 18:42Speaker 2: you know, with offensive line play for the center as
- 18:44Speaker 2: snap to step, and it just seemed like the step
- 18:47Speaker 2: to step here was slow.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, It's like he like he's falling into the
- 18:53Speaker 1: guy instead of getting a good hard block onto him,
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know. And then that that of course just played
- 18:59Speaker 1: basically gives Barkley nowhere to run right away.
- 19:03Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean it's just one of those plays.
- 19:07Speaker 2: He didn't. It didn't. He didn't look quick off the ball, right.
- 19:10Speaker 1: And then here's another one where and maybe you'll set
- 19:13Speaker 1: me straight if I'm wrong. I mean I felt like
- 19:16Speaker 1: This is the the minus eight catch from Barkley where
- 19:19Speaker 1: I think Jurgons is trying to get to Angeloni but
- 19:23Speaker 1: just doesn't.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Get This is a hard block. He's not getting there.
- 19:27Speaker 2: I'm not sure any center gets there because Angeloni moved
- 19:29Speaker 2: right away. Okay, this is man coverage and Angeloni has
- 19:34Speaker 2: the back, so he's going as soon as Barkley starts
- 19:37Speaker 2: to move, Angelone's here. You watch just if you play it. Boom,
- 19:42Speaker 2: he's on. He's on his horse right now. Yeah, Jurgons
- 19:46Speaker 2: is not getting there, that's true. I don't think any
- 19:48Speaker 2: center is getting there, so this is not really a
- 19:50Speaker 2: knock on Jurgons. He's not getting there.
- 19:54Speaker 1: That's why we bring you on the show. I wasn't
- 19:56Speaker 1: certain myself, but that which is why I wanted to
- 19:59Speaker 1: get your take on that, okay.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Cause it's man if it was Zone and Jurgens, you know.
- 20:03Speaker 2: And then Angeloni was reacting rather than being proactive and
- 20:07Speaker 2: gone because look, look, Angeloni's moving the second Barkley moves. Yeah,
- 20:11Speaker 2: he's not getting there.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, and he's much faster obviously being
- 20:16Speaker 1: a small not getting there. Yeah, and poor Barkley could
- 20:19Speaker 1: didn't get the ball in time. To make a miss. Hey,
- 20:21Speaker 1: Philly fans. Game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines,
- 20:26Speaker 1: We've all been there, But when it comes to your cannabis,

- 21:13Speaker 1: Camedn Apothecary Top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 21:17Speaker 1: made for Philly fans. Twenty one and up. To finish
- 21:20Speaker 1: us off do the Lions. They played a lot of
- 21:22Speaker 1: cover three man correct.
- 21:25Speaker 2: They played a lot more man than I would have thought,
- 21:27Speaker 2: and they didn't spy regularly, which kind of surprised me.
- 21:33Speaker 2: But they played a lot of man coverage in this game.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I mean an awful lot.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And that's not something they typically do.
- 21:39Speaker 2: They played well. They played the highest percentage of cover
- 21:42Speaker 2: one of any defense in the league this past week.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Oh wow. Yeah, and they play man. I mean, you
- 21:48Speaker 2: know they do play man. Now, it's not a surprise,
- 21:50Speaker 2: but the amount they play. Think of it this way.
- 21:54Speaker 2: They played with backup outside corners. Okay, because Robertson's a
- 21:58Speaker 2: good player, but he's probably a slot. Ya Sin's been
- 22:01Speaker 2: with a lot of teams. You know, he's the Temple kid,
- 22:03Speaker 2: originally a second round pick. I mean, you know, considered
- 22:05Speaker 2: a good prospect when he came out. But he's been
- 22:07Speaker 2: with a lot of teams. But they're their backup corners, right,
- 22:10Speaker 2: So they played a ton of man with Robertson and
- 22:13Speaker 2: Ya Sin against Brown and Smith. What does that say? Again?
- 22:18Speaker 2: I'm just I'm trying to understand this and to figure
- 22:21Speaker 2: out why they had no problem playing with their backup
- 22:24Speaker 2: corners man to man against Smith and Brown, which I
- 22:28Speaker 2: don't believe is a knock on Smith and Brown. I
- 22:30Speaker 2: think it's more of a knock on the pass game.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Right right, I agree with you. And then so that
- 22:35Speaker 1: made me wonder about the counteraction I wanted to ask
- 22:38Speaker 1: you about because the Eagles played forty snaps of twelve
- 22:41Speaker 1: personnel in nineteen of eleven, so with them being so
- 22:45Speaker 1: beat up, I wonder what the thought process of not
- 22:48Speaker 1: trying to get a little bit more eleven personnel and
- 22:50Speaker 1: make them have to put Arthur Molette out there and
- 22:53Speaker 1: then Nickel, you know, just one more backup.
- 22:55Speaker 2: It's another why question. I mean, wouldn't you think that Okay,
- 23:00Speaker 2: they're playing with two backups on the outside, they're playing
- 23:02Speaker 2: with a backup in the slot. Okay, they're playing with
- 23:05Speaker 2: a backup safety and Thomas Harper. Okay, I think it's
- 23:08Speaker 2: Thomas's first and the Eagles didn't really throw the ball. Yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I mean again, it's a why I don't have an answer.
- 23:21Speaker 2: People can give whatever answer they want, you know, you
- 23:24Speaker 2: and I could talk about it for the next hour
- 23:25Speaker 2: and we still won't know. But it's it's just very
- 23:29Speaker 2: confusing to me.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I would agree, all right, Well, maybe next time after
- 23:33Speaker 1: the Cowboys game, we'll have more answers or very possibly
- 23:37Speaker 1: greg more questions. I know that's hard to believe, but
- 23:39Speaker 1: we might even after that. But that's gonna do it.
- 23:42Speaker 1: For this episode of Inside the Tape, looking at the
- 23:45Speaker 1: Eagles offense of course, and their win against the Lions.
- 23:48Speaker 1: For Greg Cosell, I'm Jeff Mosher. Thanks for watching Inside
