Transcript
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: All right, welcome to the show.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Others receiving votes.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: My colleagues, Jean-Wild-Jazzki and Brian, Fisher, I'm Pat 40, and Manel Man on October 9th.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: There is a lot going on.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to follow the Hallowed Meteor tradition of building them up to tarim down.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: There is a tire fire to address in Chapel Hill.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: There is angst in Austin over arch, and everyone else on the team.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's also intrigue over who's going to play quarterback and red river for Oklahoma.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some new NCAA rules to rant about.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some extreme coaching carousel scenarios to go through.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: We got winners and didn't state dinners to pick.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: And we are going to discuss trying to get married via billboard.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: That was your ready.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_02]: Right up until the very end I was.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: State prepared on a swivel genome got it.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we got to start in Chapel Hill where, you know, things are going extremely well when at 9.36 Wednesday evening, the school puts out via social media
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fully committed to UNC football in the program we're building here.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: And athletic director Bubba cutting him.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: Coach Bellachek has the full support of the Department of Athletics and University.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: The truly dreaded vote of confidence there.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: The everything is fine, no need to worry.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: The ships are still sailing.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: The tanks are running on time, we'll see.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, this was a we're on to Berkeley statement, but are they I mean the team supposedly is headed to play Cal this weekend, but man on man there is a lot going on there there is was a WRAL multimedia radio TV digital writing place that had a kind of a bombshell story about
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: total dysfunction basically within the program.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: We already know that our heels are bad, right?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: They're bad on the field.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're two and three.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: They've been routed by the three power conference teams.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: They've played.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: We've got people ripping general manager Michael and Barty.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: We have people ripping bellchecks on Steve, the defensive coordinator.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: We have people ripping bill himself.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's gotten so bad that nobody's even ripping Jordan Hudson anymore.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: because there's too many other people to rip.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: So losing was not unexpected.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: losing this badly has been shocking.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: losing this badly with the off-field stuff is where this has really gotten bad.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: And it feels like we have a toxic stew simmering in the old well on campus.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Gino, can you and see pull out of its shame cycle?
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Or is Chapelville about to be one and done, or even less than one and done?
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: Well, first of all, this is a total accident, but I'm wearing Carolina blue today, okay?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_02]: I actually just pull it off the shelf and put it on.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: So there's no greater meaning to this, but I think after those two heartfelt cremons statements,
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: late last night.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're good.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think that can move on to the next topic.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: Don't you share I think the happiest guy in America is probably James Franklin right now.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: No one's talking about him.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: So he's he's thrilled what's what's going on.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_02]: Let me read you another statement.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: Just humor me for a moment.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: This is from Bubble Cunningham.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: Coach has led the Carolina Football
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: As we improve the program's facilities, significantly increase the size of the staff, invested in salaries and bolstered our nutrition and strength and conditioning programs.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: He has also been a dedicated fundraiser, strengthening the football endowment, while also supporting our other sports programs.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_02]: Is that an endorsement of Bill Balachek?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: No, let me read the rest of it.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: We thank Coach Brown for his dedication to Carolina and wish him Sally and their family, all the best.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: So you have to take these.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: nothing burger statements for what they're worth.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: Remember, Bubbles County County Ham gave Mac Brown an extension in 2023 and a year later fired him.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_02]: So they're paying Mac Brown $15 million basically in go away money.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: And now they're facing the possibility of if you cut the cord on Bellachick,
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: a pain of the 10 million he's getting this year plus another 20 million.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I guess the question I would ask is if the buyout weren't there, and of course it is there, but if the buyout weren't there, would we even be having this discussion?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_02]: Would Caroline have already said, thank you, and would they have just had an honest conversation and said, you know what?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: we thought it would work out.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: You thought it would work out and it's just not working out.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: So let's just shake hands and go our separate ways.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: I would be surprised if if he's let go during this season.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: doesn't mean they can't do it, but I would be surprised if you didn't at least see it through the season.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: But as you mentioned, Pat, all the signs, all those toxic signs that we see, all the time that usually lead to an ugly departure are all there.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: And you mentioned,
- 6:02[SPEAKER_02]: the losses on the field to me what really has caused all these different reports and all the swirling rumors are all the losses off the field.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_02]: That's the thing that I think ultimately could see the end of a very brief Bill Belicec regime.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, how many times do you think those 12 words that he had in that statement were workshops between and improved?
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: How many steps went through to get those?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, to me, this is the biggest stain on Bill Belicex legacy in terms of how this has happened, the end of his patriots tenure.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like this is a great case of not knowing when to retire.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like this is why Nick Saming got out at the time that he did not necessarily the peak, but he understood that it is
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: really any level of football.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the bill bell check is re-confirming this.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not only not understanding some of the aspects of the college game, but really not hiring a lot of guys that had college experience that could have taught him, hey, no, you've got to go, you know, message the recruits.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to talk to their families.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to do the bear minimum things that every other coach in America is doing.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: that UNC simply has not in a lot of aspects.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's been the biggest issue for all the bluster in the talk about oh, we're going to be the 33rd NFL team.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Well, guess what, that does not work in college football.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I think we've seen that blow up spectacular.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: They're in Chapel.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're going to move on from him after the season, but if you're below, check, you're probably almost dug in at this point.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to say, no, I have the, the nowster to turn things around.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's probably the biggest issue that North Carolina is going to face is that Bill Bell Jackson, I'm not going to say, hey, I'm going to walk away.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: I, he's not going to say go ahead and fire me.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to say, I, I know how to turn this around.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that might be the most dangerous aspect of anything that has happened in the last couple of weeks is, it's not just that North Carolina is bad.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's that they, they think they, they have the answers.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: And,
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see about that.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see what the administration decides to do, but this is a tire fire, a dumpster fire, however you want to term it.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think even the most pessimistic people around this experiment could have expected.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: We would be at week seven now, having statements from the AD in Bill Bellcheck at this point.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is obviously spiraled to that point where we see this a lot we see the kind of the cycles of how these things work and when you reach this point where the anonymous sources are lining up and the complaints are not just you know we're bad but but everything else that's going along with this.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: the toxicity has reached that level of we it's really hard to fix it's hard to come back from a situation like this and I was talking to my SI colleague Albert Brear last night who covered a lot of Bella check but but I thought he had the best comparison to what this situation looks like just mirrored is urban mirrored with the jaguars it's an all-time great coach
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: arrogance led him to believe he could go to a different level without fully preparing himself without fully doing things differently without fully appreciating the differences.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: And just think I can do it because I'm who I am.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Urban Meyer.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm Bill Belichick.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And once it goes bad for somebody who thinks they have all the answers, it goes real bad.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what we saw in Jacksonville.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: you know, the the the the number of flaws here are incredible.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, I think I don't think obviously they didn't figure that they needed the best players.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, they got substandard players and they're they're playing like a team that that doesn't have talent.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: Secondly, I can just go get my cronies and a bunch of guys and my sons and put them on the staff and Michael Lombardi is the GM will be fine.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe not, and if somebody else posited to me that as Bellachek has gotten older, this happens, his circle of coaching connections shrinks, and he's got fewer people he knows, and you're turning to guys that maybe aren't the best candidates for the job of being on your staff.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Thirdly, the number of people and this is I think an underrated part you guys can chime in on this about coaching in college versus coaching in the pros while an NFL franchises a bigger deal
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: the North Carolina football.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's more people connected to North Carolina football because there's a whole athletic department with hundreds of other people there with compliance and academic counseling and all that sort of thing that are involved and that have opinions and have observations and then talk to people off the record about them.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: there are boosters that have more say than any of the fans do in New England.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: There are parents of players who are chiming in left and right because they're connected to their kids in a way that the parents of a 30-year-old Patriot Linebacker are not.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so there's just a whole lot more dynamics here that he's not controlling can't control
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we remember non coach Bill Bellachek, you know, during his gap year, you know, yuckin' it up with macophie.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, uh, yuckin' it up on the manning cast, um, uh, yuckin' it up with Sabin' on game, I mean, we saw a side of him that we could kind of root for.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: We saw a side of him that was, that was human.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, there wasn't the arrogance, there was, um, we could relate to him.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: But now he's reverted back.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: to coach Bill Bellachek and we get the stone face and we get the two word answers and he becomes really hard to root for.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think he gives himself that there's no benefit of the doubt given to him, other than the buyout money.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_02]: So I think he's done everything he can to alienate the people that he needs during a rebuild year.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: Does he know how to coach?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: Of course he knows how to coach.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_02]: Does he know how to coach in college football?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: Well, obviously not so far.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: Would he be better in year two?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: You would hope that he would evolve, that he would learn from his mistakes.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: But to your point is he had an age
- 12:40[SPEAKER_02]: I know how to do this, just listen to me and we'll figure it out.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that really is where the rubber meets the road on this entire question is he willing to evolve and change and learn and try to fix it that way.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: Or is he just going to be stubborn Bill again?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think the worst part is just the, the on field aspect of things, you know, that there's not been any modest or or even meaningful improvement from week one to now on the field for, for Carolina, and if you would have thought that of all the things you could have said about this grand Bill Belicech experiment at UNC.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: it's that you could see some modest improvement in the team itself.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: You could see some improvement in the players.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_00]: You can see them actually progressing on the field and there's been none of that.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's the most concerning thing if you are the UNC brass is that, hey, we were sold a bill of goods and unfortunately it's ripe right produce at this point.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like the coaching aspect of the bill bell check, the on-field improvement, one-on-one with the
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: There have been numbers for numerous reports and people have said that that have worked in and around the program.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: He's good with the players.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Where's the actual progress on the field?
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: That is the whole bottom line of coaching.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to be better from week to week.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're not taking away the opponent's best thing that they do, like they did with the Patriots.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they are not having some wrinkle in the game plan that throws somebody off for the loop.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: And we're not talking about like the best in the brightest and the greatest of minds in the ACC in terms of the competition that he's going up against.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_00]: And that to me would be the thing that if you are you and see and why you might even consider pulling the plug,
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: on this experiment early it's there's there's not been that meaningful improvement on the field and that to me is probably the biggest thing that that anybody can point to in terms of this going wrong yeah well that the you know the yes the on field product is bad um
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: uh... and i just don't i don't know whether it gets better especially given the coaching staff they apparently you know are gonna get on the plane and go play cal and after that we'll see g he mentioned year to us like oh my gosh could they even make it to year two and i can make it to the end of year one
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: So, but maybe they just don't have the players.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Incorporate the schemes that Bella check wants to do.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's obvious.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_02]: They brought in 70 new players and you mentioned it earlier, Pat.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: They're not the quality kind of players that you would expect.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't hit on anybody.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: At least we haven't seen anybody yet.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: It looks like a real fine in the portal.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they, they are at a talent deficit and they're not being coached up well enough and then there's everything else that goes with it.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: So, I think this is going to be a week to week thing, but as long as they continue performing poorly and getting thumped, this is only going one direction.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: We will see if they can pull it out of the fire and play better.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: The schedule is not difficult.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: But for now, all signs are pointing towards really one of the great one-year disasters in college football history.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: switching gears and hopefully not one of the great disasters in college football history because I don't think anybody wants to see arch-maning referred to that way or end up that way because there's really nothing wrong with the young man and it's interesting now that players
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: They are three and two at Texas a shaky three and two haven't beaten anybody of note and they're going to play a pivotal Red River game against Oklahoma
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: The Red River history has had plenty of the negative storylines that turn positive of players and teams that were playing poorly going in and play great, get a big win, come out of it, things have changed.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes, only temporarily changed.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like Charlie Strong was the hero of the Red River rivalry at one point in Texas, that really didn't last.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: But still.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: uh... this is a fascinating series of fascinating matchup in the series uh... but in far as arch and his play there is the manning bashing is it over the top and for this game how much pressure is on arch and shark and the horns brine you're going to be covering it what do you think
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's definitely a little over the top, you know, our arch was not the reason that they lost it for the, and I think it's a bigger issue for Steve Starkesian.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_00]: And look, I understand there are TV reasons why this game is at 230 instead of the typical 11, but if they start slow against Oklahoma, if things are a little halt and start in terms of the offense, you might get both tasks of the cotton ball that it will lubricated cotton ball with a 230 kickoff.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: start going the burn orange like that.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of where the fan base is.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think at Texas.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of this goes back to I think just in terms of how the team was constructed around arch.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't think Steve's our keys in work.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: They're very extensive personnel department really used and played up the fact that, hey, if you're a wide receiver, come play with archmaning.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, look, look at, look at Texas A&M.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: They went out.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: They got two pretty big time wide receiver additions.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: And that did not happen at Texas.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: You look at Texas tech around the room.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_00]: What do they do?
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: They went hard in the portal in terms of landing offensive and in defensive linemen, but.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: landing some offensive linemen that can make a difference in terms of continuing for the playoff.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_00]: Texas did not do that.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: And as much as you want to kind of say, all right, let's let's develop our players.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: Let's make sure that, you know what, we, we, we, we are the best at recruiting guys and bringing them in and in training them in an NFL traffic.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_00]: But at the end of the day, you've got to do everything you can to improve your roster.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think Texas did that this offseason.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why they're sitting at three and two, and that's why they're struggling.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we're the running backs that they could have gotten.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: They knew they had injury issues at that position last year.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_00]: They did not get the production that they wanted that they struggled in the red zone.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_00]: Why were you not out there going hard to find a running back who could maybe make the difference?
- 19:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think this was more of an issue around Sark than it has been arched.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, he sees throne better, you know, I think he is improving from week to week.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, there's no question in my mind that the issues at Texas, you know, this really dates back to what's sark did this offseason and not really getting along horns ready to play for this season.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: And yet a guy like me picked Texas in Penn State to play in the national championship and Texas winning it all.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, we have a tendency to look and think, he'll be fine.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: They got the right guys during the off season and so Brian, you make an excellent point, you know, in retrospect, they didn't.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: and they're not as good as we thought they were, but they can reset things this Saturday.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: I read a story on a national website, where the writer argued that the archmaning was a, quote, classic flop.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: and he based that partly on performance and partly on expectations that Arsch Manning had nothing to do with.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_02]: And if I'm reading it correctly, based partly on that he did too many eyeglass commercials.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_02]: Which, of course, is how you judge all quarterbacks after playing seven games of their college career.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: He has started five games this season.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: Am I ready to call him a flop?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely not.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's not even close to that.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: By his own admission, he has been inconsistent and underwhelming at times.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: Do I think he can fix it?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Of course I do.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: And if college football doesn't teach us anything, just go back a week ago.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_02]: There was a guy named Niko, Eomaliava at UCLA, a quarterback that we had put so many shovels of dirt on his grave, his quarterback grave, there was no way was ever going to get out of it.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: And what happens?
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we thought UCLA was going to be a chute toy for Penn State and Penn State loses.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: And Eomaliava plays fantastic.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: And now he's the player of the national player of the
- 21:24[SPEAKER_02]: Things change really fast in college football, and I still think there's plenty of time for things to change for arch-maning.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: Certainly, he has made a sure mistakes.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_02]: Certainly, he has not played well at times, but to Brian's point, there are some issues around him that aren't necessarily his fault.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: So let's see what happens against OU.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, good point and I I really disliked the the column you're referring to especially it came with at least in the newsletter I got with the most preposterous headline I'd ever seen his arch manning the first flop in college football It's like Excuse me, so that at least that it did get me to click just to see how you could come up with something that's stupid And it was a misleading headline But then the yeah, I thought the the authors he was making a preposterous
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: point there are differentiation between the hundreds of players we have seen struggle after being highly rated and well this guy's getting paid so it's different.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: uh, I'm not sure.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I could name off 20 quarterbacks who probably felt about like archfields right now of like, man, I'm catching a ton of heat.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: I thought this was going to go better.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and people were throwing around the flop word.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I, this is definitely a case where he's not playing well, but, but the expectations and yes, the media drove the
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: They were sure he was going to be a great quarterback.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: Steve Murphy is you and told Malik Murphy, you know what, you can probably hit the highway because our next guy's going to be arched manning.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: He thought he was going to be a great quarterback.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: He may still be a great quarterback.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is not just a media driven thing.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Coach has thought he was going to be great too.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: And again, maybe he still will be.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: And this would be a heck of a time to figure out how to play really well for him.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: on the other side of that game.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: Red Hot Oklahoma coming in, playing great.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: Brett Minneville's off the heart seat for now, that's for sure.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: But, is John material going to play, had hand surgery, and now this has been, like the absolute speculation gone over drive.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's not, you know, whether or not Bill Belechek's leaving, but whether or not John Matier's playing in Oklahoma.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: And he's smartly listed as questionable by the sooner's, which means we're keeping the question in the minds of the longhorns.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: They probably have a pretty good idea.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: Probably more like probable or doubtful.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: but keep it questionable and that keeps everybody guessing for as long as possible, at least till pre-game warm-ups.
- 24:27[SPEAKER_01]: And yes, the fans at least have time to come in a little more clear-eyed into the cotton bowl, because it's a 230 start as opposed to 11 because the Friday night in Dallas with those fans, oh my gosh, woo, that's a wild one.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: And when that game said 11, I feel for them.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then secondly, trying to get over your hangover and watch the game and scream for your team.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: But this is going to be fascinating to see in my mind.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: By no means would I push John material to play and I would maybe even discourage him if there's any question because While this is a huge game and you want to play well and red river and you want to put that gold hat on after the game as the winner.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: This game does not decide Oklahoma season by any stretch, not in a 12 team playoff era, not with the number of hard games they've got coming up.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you think putting him out there puts him at risk for the rest of the season, don't do it.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: You could lose to Texas and be fine.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: You guys, what do you think?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: What would you do if you're Brent Venables?
- 25:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think the whole thing about this meteor willy play willy not.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if he trots out there at the cotton bowl and he starts even throwing some passes, I think Oklahoma fans are about ready to induct his surgeon, Dr. Shin, into their Hall of Fame, like, as we can.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and the problem with, you know, Willie play Willie not is they are perfectly capable of beating that Texas team without him like that that is the one thing that I think Britain Minibles and that coaching staff is is keeping in mind as this figures to be a pretty low scoring team and would John material make a difference yes, but you are capable I think, you know, with with what you have in terms of those weapons on offense that you are capable of beating them especially with I think a bit of a mismatch up front in terms of that that
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: But the thing in my mind is look at the bigger picture, you know, you have that Michigan win that, you know, that could be a ten and one Michigan going into that Ohio State game in your back pocket.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and you played well in that game.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you win this game, you're almost playing with house money because you got South Carolina, you got Old Miss, you got Tennessee, you got Bama, you got Mazu, LSU.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a difficult slate.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: But if there's any team in the country that could maybe claim to go nine and three and still make the playoff.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably going to be Oklahoma, especially if one or two of those losses end up not having your quarterback back or say he plays poorly in terms of, all right, he comes back.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: He's just not ready.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think for for Oklahoma, you need to hold out John material, hopefully you get a win and you won't go away with that golden hat and then you're almost playing with house money for the rest of the month in terms of making sure that you're easing him in like look at the bigger picture here.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: This is not just about a one-games scenario, he's from Little Elm, you know, probably 45 minutes away from the cotton.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I know he wants to play this game desperately as somebody who grew up in the Dallas area, but you got to look at the bigger picture if you're printin' vittables, knowing that you could have a special season there in Norman, given all the pieces and given the way things are shaken out and already.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_02]: There are million ifs in this equation, obviously, but one absolute constant will be that the CFP committee will take into account if they lose this game.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: that material was out that he was hurt.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_02]: So that will factor into their decision.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_02]: And they can win this game with Hawkins Jr.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: And they can win this game as you mentioned, Brian, with a great defense and with a, with a, a, a, a, a, a, a defensive coordinator who knows how to befudd all young quarterbacks.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_02]: What did vennable say earlier this week, material hasn't gone good on good,
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: He hasn't run with the number one offense and gone against the number one defense could have changed between the time he said it and the time kickoff comes of course.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm with you guys.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: I wouldn't play him.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: Why not wait until next week when you're at South Carolina and with all due respect to South Carolina.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to be, I don't want to see an easier game.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: That's a tough place to play in South Carolina is a good team.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: But after South Carolina, they're playing Ole Miss at Tennessee, at Bama, Mizzou, LSU.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: That's when you need John Meterre.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: You don't necessarily need him this week.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_02]: If he's given clearance, if Dr. Shin with the guy who's going to get his own statue outside the stadium at OU, gives him the thumbs up, literally, no pun intended, then sure, play him.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: But if there's any doubt, I'm with you guys, don't play him.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's just too much season left, I think.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: there.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: And we will pick that game at the end of the show here.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: We will also pick that one even bigger game from the ranking standpoint Oregon and Indiana and several others.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: So stick with us for that producer can't I believe it's time for the BK rant of the week sound.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go and **** in.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: Is that clear?
- 29:44[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys want to go have to be let me
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: get your asses going.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get our asses going.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to discuss a couple of NCAA rule changes that came out this week.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: The first one having to do with the change of transfer portal.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody loves the transfer portal.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: No controversy at all there.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: It has been compacted to a 15 day window in January, January 2 to 16.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: But there is an interesting
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: Players who have gone through a coaching change can enter the portal only five days after the new head coach has been announced.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: An interesting wrinkle there.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: I certainly have some thoughts on this.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: Brian wants you lead us off with your reaction to it.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it seems completely against the spirit of why this rule was created in the first place.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's great for the ADs and the journal managers in terms of helping manage the roster.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, honestly, the biggest reason I think this kind of change kind of came into about was really stemming the number of mass stories in the me about players quitting, about redshirting, you know, in terms of, all right, their coach has been fired so they're going to redshirt and put their names in the portal later.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this, this to me is against the spirit of why we even had this rule in the first place.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: And why it was good for those, those players that came in and said, hey, I want to play for this coach.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, this is, this is, this was their escape hatch.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think this was a rule created by a lot of administrators that did not probably pass muster with a lot of the student athletes that were either on the council or other bodies that were considering this.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: Another test case and another example of the administrators kind of pushing back on this player empowerment era in college football that we've had these last couple of years.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: Players have gotten a lot of a lot of leeway in terms of their flexibility in terms of what they can do.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know and we've seen I think really in the last six months to to a year.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: The administrators starting to push back and I think this this rule in this rule change has been another example of that.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Do I, my thoughts on this, yes, that this is, this is very much pro institution pro coach pro AD pushback on players like we we will keep you until we get a new coach and then we'll see if we can keep you longer than that to me.
- 32:17[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I, I understand the thinking behind it, understand the strategy behind it.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: Guess what?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: Those players at one end of the port will be tampered with and tampering themselves with other schools behind the scenes.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to sit there and say, no, I'm sorry coach, I'm not going to take your call till I find out for sure who my next coach is.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's going to be going on behind the scenes discussions, which people say already say happen frequently, this will keep going.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if this rule actually does a lot other than to give that coach time for his elevator speech with that team once he gets there.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there may already be deals done in players are ready to scatter the minute it happens.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: But this does give you a chance to walk in the door and say, listen, here's my pitch guy stick with me.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_02]: What's the over under on the first lawsuit filed to end this rule?
- 33:18[SPEAKER_02]: 30 minutes.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: I actually think the NCA might have had
- 33:24[SPEAKER_02]: they're they're heart in the right place like hey everybody just take a deep breath don't do anything rash give the new guy a chance to at least make his case and then we're going to let you go if you want to go and it prevents this mass exodus during the season which I actually think is a semi valid point but I keep on going back to if I'm a player and I'm on one of those
- 33:55[SPEAKER_02]: Why do you, the other player on the team where the coach didn't leave gets first crack at going to someplace else before I do?
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm in a program that's sort of upside down.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: We're having a coaching change.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_02]: I don't understand the logic in that.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_02]: And unless one of you guys is going to explain it to me, I'm not sure I ever will.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, and I mean, to me, this is absolutely right for legal challenge and quickly because I just, I think this is, I'm shocked it actually passes kind of like, yeah, we're going to try this and we'll see what happens.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: The other rule I am shocked past is that student athletes and coaches and staffers are
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: uh... three to bet on pro sports uh... still needs to be officially passed by the d two indeed three committees but that's going to happen from what i've been told so uh... if you want to bet on the NFL the NBA major league baseball the NHL go for it players go for it coaches uh... the rationale here
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically the same thing with penalizing players for smoking marijuana, is that the infractions are prevalent.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is common campus activity for normal students and all of a sudden we're gonna make it impermissible or we're gonna keep it impermissible for athletes and we're gonna find them and we're gonna penalize them.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the problem is you've got a lot of athletes
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: fifty dollars or whatever over the course of a couple of weeks on NFL games and it is completely clogging up the enforcement system when as we know and as sports illustrator has reported there are people out there shaving points and fixing games slightly bigger issues and they have not really been able to devote enough manpower to that because they've been chasing a lot of these other things.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: However,
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: Whoo, there's some, there's some complications potentially here.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: Geno, your thoughts is common sense decision or does this opening Pandora's box?
- 36:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I think it's a fabulous idea.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: He says, necrastically.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: OK, think about this scenario.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a player on whatever college team, top 25 college team.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_02]: And one of my teammates got drafted in the spring and now is playing for the NFL.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: What's to stop me from calling my old former teammate and just getting a few little innocent info nuggets on that NFL game?
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: And then maybe I share them with some of my other teammates and maybe my old buddy asked me a question about my team and how we're gonna do this this week against whatever team we're facing.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: I just think this rule should come with a warning label and there are so many ways this thing can go sideways.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so I, I don't like it.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_02]: I, I, I, I'm, you know, it doesn't, you say it's going to get past, do you think?
- 37:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_02]: Well, again, I sort of feel softly can understand the reasons behind it.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: But practically speaking, I think there's all sorts of possible issues that could come up and it could get really bad, really fast.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's, let's pour one out for the, the don't bet on it campaign that they didn't have for years, you know, like that was what we're definitely passed that.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, it is great news if you're, you're an administrator, you're somebody, you know, who's been in the, you know, been around this for, for a while.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, maybe the, uh, the office, uh, Super Bowl squares party and games, uh, get a little more interesting nowadays around college.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: You know, administrators and all that, but, you know, the problem, you know, for me is just like, you know, you go, if you're in the NFL right now, you know, when when they have those rookie symposiums and when they're they're talking to the rookies coming in, like they, they beat it into their heads that, you know, you can't even get caught, you know, walking around a sports book and then because, you know,
- 38:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can't even have the, you know, a sliver of impropriety or at least implied impropriety.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_00]: And now the insane is doing this.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's against the message, and especially against the message that Charlie O'Baker has been trying to preach about trying to get gambling out of sports and out of the NCAA and out of college kids because it is easy for a lot of those issues that we've reported on in sports hosted to pop up.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's almost an anti, you know,
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: in terms of just the message that it sends it's against what the NCA has been trying to do these last couple of years.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: And yes, I mean, I'm sure for the college kids in certain states, you know, being able to throw five dollars on a game, you know, involving the NBA, sure it sounds good to them, but what does that lead to?
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, where are we going after that?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the big concern.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: And for a lot of these schools, you know what?
- 39:00[SPEAKER_00]: Not only are you having a change kind of midstream in terms of what you've been preaching for the last years in terms of don't you know don't don't don't don't have those apps on your phone and now now it's permissible and guess what this is a problem for a lot of people not just you know athletes but college kids in general and I think it's since probably the wrong message to an entire cohort that should not be involved in this.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's, you know, that's my thought here is just the, you are asking for a new set of troubles, or at least a wider set of troubles here, and I get it from an, from an efficiency standpoint of trying to run in suitable enforcement, okay, yes, you've writing too many traffic tickets and not catching the, you know, the organized literal organized crime rings that are involved.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: in gambling on college sports or fixing games.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: But the issues are, you're just, you're making gambling more prevalent and that will create more gambling problems.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't mean everybody doesn't mean, I mean a majority of people that are gonna gamble are going to run into problems with it, but,
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: and increased number of problems will arise.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: And Gene, you laid out one of the obvious scenarios here is you're going to get inside information.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to give inside information more likely.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to make some bets that are going to lose, right?
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, we all know why the casinos of the size they are.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to lose these bets.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: Not all the players are making NIL millions and you're going to get into debt and then things get sticky.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: How are you going to get out of situations like chase or tail?
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, chase or tail.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to somebody that says, hey,
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know what, especially in basketball, where things are a little easier.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: But just play bad the first half here, and you can get out of a problem.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of issues with that, we will see how it goes.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I have a feeling that's going to be one where the unintended consequences kind of run rampant.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: All right, one other thing to get you before we pick some gains, we'll try to run through these relatively quickly, but in desperate search for something to write about in the 40 yard dash this week, I can cocked
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: an absurd coaching carousel chain reaction actually did one last year and people either liked it or hated it so much that I thought what the hell let's do it again.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: So I am going to run through 10 scenarios here guys.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to listen to them, want our listeners to listen to them and decide, oh maybe that could happen or my god that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: The starts with UCLA, which has an opening already, and I am sending Kalani Satake from BYU to Westwood.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's done a really good job at BYU.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: He's a good fit there, but he's got a big personality that would also play well in Los Angeles.
- 42:08[SPEAKER_01]: So Kalani's leaving, now BYU, you've got an opening, and you've got a lot of money lately.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're throwing around money.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_01]: on the NIO market, how about throwing some at a coach, Steve Sarkesian?
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out of it.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: People say, look, he's not a Mormon.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: We can't have a Mormon there.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: They have players there who are Mormon who've done awfully well over the years.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not including Steve Sarkesian.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to leave that one open as a possibility.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's a long, it's a crazy long show, but why not?
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right, one of the biggest jobs on earth, they're going to get the lane train.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: You're following one offensive savant with another lane kiffin who's doing better and better work.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think at Ole Miss jumps ship there, Mississippi opens, and we've got a coach in Happy Valley who is unhappy.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: and needs to get out and go back to the SEC where he performed very well, James Franklin leaves Penn State for Mississippi.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: I acknowledge there's a couple problems with that, but let's roll with it for now.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Penn State needs a coach.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Rool, he's a Penn State alum.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's friends with Pat Craft, the athletic director.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's going from Nebraska to Penn State.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_01]: And state opens, what do you do?
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: He looks southeast to Missouri and you grab Eli drink wits, who would like another SEC job to open, but guess what?
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Rhett Lashley leaves LS or SMU for Arkansas.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: SMU goes and gets Shannon Dawson, the offense coordinator for Miami.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: Kentucky opens up because
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: Mark Stoops is under fire and leaves to go be defensive coordinator to Ohio State because map Patricia goes to the NFL.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: Got that.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry out there.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: I can tuck he hires Will Stein from the city of Louisville.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: A former Louisville Cardinal, but I have inside sources to say his fan, his family likes the Wildcats.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and then, oh, there's going to be an opening at North Carolina believe it or not.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: This one, I, I, I, I, I, I'm sure comes out of left field for you.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: John Sumerall goes from two lane to UNC and the job that doesn't come open.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the big gag.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: Florida.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_01]: Billy Napier's been fired every September.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to keep it again.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to run the table from here on out.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to finish nine and three against the worst schedule in the country.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: We need your survives again.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then one more thing, just to throw in a wrench in January.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: Marcus Freeman's leaving Notre Dame for the NFL.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: Got all that guys.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Give me your thoughts.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: You're up, Ryan.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what?
- 44:59[SPEAKER_00]: And in terms of the most unlikely, you know, I think it's your satake to UCLA, Sark to BYU's scenario.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Sark's context.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what you can't unspring me on the first one.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's this.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_00]: The initial domino is this is what you're running there.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_00]: And that's not even an inch.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_00]: The domino game.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: Not even getting to the last point in terms of Bill and April is definitely fired at Florida at this point.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that's the other thing that is hard to believe.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, number one, Sarka, I don't think literally cannot take that BYU job just because he's not LDS, which is a requirement there for that football.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_00]: Coach, why they have such a small pool of candidates.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_00]: And why whenever that job comes open, it's a little bit difficult to find and sustain.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_00]: And from what I've heard, they're across country coaches, not Mormon.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: So if you can have a cross-bundery coach is my morning, why do you have to have a football coach you is?
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not necessarily the official rules and whatnot, but it does seem like football that men's basketball is some of those high-profile sports EAD as well, those positions, you do have to be LDL.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's the one thing where it pops in my mind and plus Sark's contract.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's got a $60 million buyout from Texas right now, like one of the four or five biggest buyouts in the country, he would owe five plus million dollars if he even wanted to leave.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_00]: Clonysa talking in L.A.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: that it's hard for me to see that to knowing him a little bit in terms of making that movie.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_00]: He loves the alignment there.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_00]: If you why you, he probably has a better job at this point in terms of being in a more win-able conference and having more support in I.L.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_00]: the administration there.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: So that the initial domino to me is the one that
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm scratching my head and then some of the other moves like I mean John summer I'll did talk with you and see last year You know, I think that that was pretty well reported in terms of having those conversations with the public coming in I don't know if he's gonna jump into after the tire fire that we've just talked about it and you see and he said you know that that's a more attractive job than waiting out for another
- 46:57[SPEAKER_00]: as you see, Kagan, you know, and speaking of the SEC, I mean, the the kiffin thing to Texas, if that were to open, that that was the most believable of the scenarios there, Pat, but outside of that, like not having Billy Napier fired at Florida was, was, was questionable.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think if if you're talking about the scenarios itself, you
- 47:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I agree with you, sir.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_00]: So that that to me is the one that's crazy, but I would like to see James Franklin down there in our Oxford.
- 47:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think that would be be quite the interesting match in terms of personalities and the school fit.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, Johnson, we're not getting an SEC gig.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: This cycle would probably raise my eyebrow a little bit as well.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: For you know, you're my boy, okay?
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: And I absolutely loved this whole concept.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's great.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_02]: Do I agree with you and all of them know, but you took some flyers?
- 47:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sort of with Brian, it's not so much the talk at UCLA, it's more, why would circulate Texas for BYU part of it?
- 47:57[SPEAKER_02]: But I love the idea of it, but you don't have Kurt Signetti going anywhere, is that correct?
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: correct.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to stay at IU all right.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then kiffin to Florida sounds more plausible to me than kiffin to Texas.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yes, it's Florida's more plausible to open, of course.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and I think Kiffin has sort of ties to Florida.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think he spent a lot of time there.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I, for non football reasons, I think that might make sense.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then you mentioned Marcus Freeman, leaving, but you didn't mention who is going to get the Notre Dame job, which I'd love to hear.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's two thousand more words, man, okay.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_02]: All right, maybe that's next week's column.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to throw can I throw two other scenarios at you.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all right.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_02]: So you know who reminds me of Detroit lions coach Dan Campbell, Oregon coach Dan landing.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: So, if I'm an NFL team looking for an infusion of life, I'm calling Dan Landing.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: If the floor to job opens up, I'm calling Dan Landing.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_02]: And if Notre Dame opened up, maybe I'm calling Dan Landing.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we can both agree that James Franklin knows how to build or rebuild a program.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: Correct?
- 49:18[UNKNOWN]: Yep.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there's a program that just got a $50 million in Fusion Tash at the University of Andrew Luck.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe Franklin's a decent fit there, or if North Carolina does get rid of Bill Belechek, what do you think about Franklin at Chapel Hill?
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, no, I mean, I'd like
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: both scenarios for Franklin.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think that's, you know, he's going to be, I believe he's a guy who's going to be looking for options and will have options.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: The question is, yeah, do you want to go to a place like, I guess Stanford where it's still, it's enough hillfights in a lot of ways.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: Or do you want to try to get someplace where you're a little more equipped to compete right here right now because yeah that's going to be one of those things it's it's going to be a little like when Cali Perry left Kentucky I think where it's going to be a divorce where both sides are like we're better off without you and you want to be show right away, you know you want to put it on Instagram you're in a Ferrari with the hottest person you can find I'm living a great life without you.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't need you anymore.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_00]: uh... so the race to the race to start to win that divorce if it happens i think will be significant well and also be a race to a to buy bigger boat if you're uh... jimmy sexton or or tracer arm starring or something he's representing these coaches that that also struck me from this whole scenario is uh... there's only one winner at at all this
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: Alright guys, we got to pick some games, winners and stake dinners, updated standings.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: Brian has a half game lead over Gene, because Gene has the bear.
- 51:13[SPEAKER_01]: So Brian's 17 and 14, Gene's 17 and 15.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_01]: I am 14 and 17, but read my picks in the betting column where I've like eight and two the last time.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_01]: Look, I'm doing great except for these games, the big games that I have to pick.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're the ones that put these on the slate.
- 51:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're the one choosing the games.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I mean, you got to choose the big games, right?
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we're doing.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: And we're starting with the biggest game of the week.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: the big 10 game that nobody two years ago thought whatever a happener beat count matter Indiana getting seven and a half at Oregon fascinating game I'm gonna be there I look this up
- 52:03[SPEAKER_01]: Fernando Bendoza, who is the number like 134 quarterback in the class of 2022?
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_01]: Don't say Moor was like the number three quarterback in 2023.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: They played against each other for different teams in a different league two years ago.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: Huh.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: That was when Mendoza was a cow and Moor was at UCLA.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_01]: Mendoza's team won big.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: and Doses team is an underdog here, fascinating game.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: A lot riding for the winner, I think, is in great shape.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: The loser, this is basically a flesh one.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll go first, because I'm covering the game.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Oregon Speed is going to be a lot for Indiana to handle.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see if they can match up explosive playwise.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see if they can cover the excellent tie-dend for Oregon Knsudique.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that hook I'm gonna take the hook because I think Indiana's good and I think it's gonna be a close competitive game So I'm gonna say Oregon wins, but Indiana covers you guys Go ahead, Brian
- 53:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, a lot of this line has been moving quite a bit for a game of this magnitude.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of the, you know, and this started, I think closer to double digits in terms of the ducks.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, all the money is still on Oregon, which is where I am going with this game.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_00]: Give me the, give me Oregon to cover the seven and a half.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think Indiana keeps it closer for a half, but eventually just the explosive nature and what they can do on offense, I think that's going to be the difference maker for the home team at what should be a great environment there at odds.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not scared by the hook to either.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_02]: And Watson is a different kind of place.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_02]: And this Oregon team is a different kind of team.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_02]: I know Indiana boat race, still in the way, and Illinois is a legitimate team.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_02]: But Oregon is at a different level.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take the ducks and give the points to.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Red River, Texas, one and a half point favorit here
- 54:05[SPEAKER_01]: Don't follow our picks to an actual betting advice on this, but also if you do really want to bet on this game, wait until warmups and you see what their geometry is actually going to play, because that will change everything and could skew the line in the opposite way.
- 54:19[SPEAKER_01]: I would not be shocked if he's in the starting line up, if that line moves to the sooner's being favored.
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: But for now, for purposes of this pick, Thursday, Gino horns giving one and a half.
- 54:29[SPEAKER_01]: What do you like?
- 54:31[SPEAKER_02]: However, the line ends up, I would take Texas.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'll give the one and a half right now, but even if OU is favored, I'm taking Texas based entirely on the desperation factor.
- 54:44[SPEAKER_02]: OU can, in many ways, lose this game and still be mostly okay.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_02]: Texas cannot afford to lose this game.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to count on the football gods, doing what football gods do in these kind of games, somehow save Texas and keep them going in this season.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_02]: So desperation factor, a hundred percent for the Texas Long Horns.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: I was very much prepared to kind of follow that same line of thinking because you know what typically the underdog in this game, you know, they there's a surprise out of nowhere like the twist in terms of red river just because of the nature of that game split down the 50 yard line between burn orange and crimson and cream like it just leads to those crazy momentum shows and we've seen back up quarterbacks thrive in this game as well.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_00]: which is why I'm going with the sooner to to cover the number a little bit surprised in terms of you know just the general consensus on this game and you know surrounding Texas, but I think it might be more Vegas work.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just I don't know if the run game is there for Texas to balance things out and at least give art some time upfront like I've seen that Oklahoma defense in in person.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think that front 7 is for real.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think print-vidables is going to be able to throw some things, not only at Arch, but at CSR Keyesian up front that really confuses them, and I think that's ultimately going to be the difference.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't be surprising at all to see a defensive score end up determining this game one way or another, whether it's Texas or Oklahoma, but give me Oklahoma at this point reluctantly.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's a gene I'm going with your desperation factor as well here and we have seen a lot of plot twists in these games and oftentimes it seems like the team that is in disarray or not going well rises up and plays their best game and so that's what I'm expecting from Texas here, defensive game.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: not going to be high scoring, you know, whoever gets to two touchdowns first might win this thing.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I am taking Texas and laying the very skinny one and a half.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_01]: I, the other interesting SEC game in Como, Columbia, Missouri, undefeeta, Missouri has yet to play a
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: The setup here from Missouri is pretty enticing.
- 57:08[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama is laying two and a half.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: Missouri is coming off of an open date and before that a spa treatment game against UMass.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_01]: So there is rested and as healthy and as prepared as they can be.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_01]: Alabama is playing its third straight ranked opponent to all of them on the road.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_01]: Is that enough to sway you, Jean-Wildjahowski, to go with the tigers or you go with the tide?
- 57:34[SPEAKER_02]: emotional win a Georgia, emotional win against Vandy now at Mazoo, but with the third Saturday, October right down the street at against Tennessee.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_02]: This is a game.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_02]: Is this a trap game?
- 57:49[SPEAKER_02]: Is this where Bama exhales?
- 57:52[SPEAKER_02]: And if they do exhale, Mazoo is going to beat them, but I don't think they're going to exhale.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to still be pedal to the metal.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take Bama and I'll give the points.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm the same, you know, I think, you know, the defense attack on Tim Keenan coming back he's looked healthier as the years progressed and he's gotten more reps, you know, they only allowed nine rushing yards in the second half to Vandy.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think they've figured out something defensively.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's going to be a challenge there on the road, you know, it gets a very good rushing attack in the zoo, but, you know, inside of a field goal, give me Alabamaized to an F.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_01]: one of the reasons they only allowed nine rushing yards is very stopped even trying to run the ball after ripping off a 75 yard gain a 75 yard touchdown and a 36 yard game right this is like a mizzoo pick coming up oh it is all the shot he's called the shot for for weeks now that that was going to win this game yeah I've laid out the reasons I've laid him out Missouri is going to be six and
- 58:55[SPEAKER_01]: Tigers.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_01]: All right, big to the other big 10 game fascinating.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is this is a brand name game.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great uniform game.
- 59:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's in the Coliseum.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_01]: I hope, although I think maybe it's supposed to rain on the west coast this week, which would be a shame because this is one of those games.
- 59:11[SPEAKER_01]: You want the sunshine and that grass to look perfect.
- 59:15[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll see about that.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: Michigan, not perfect against USC, not perfect, but still pretty good teams.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the Wolverines are getting two and a half here in the Coliseum.
- 59:27[SPEAKER_01]: Brian, what do you think?
- 59:29[SPEAKER_00]: uh... give me a mission in this one you know i i think there there's been issues you know i i can only think of the l.s.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_00]: you game in terms of you know when a team is been better in the trenches of better front uh... you know Lincoln Riley he tends to come out on the losing in this one so for michigan's getting you know two and a half points i think they will try to slow the tempo down i i think u.a.c.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: can't can't have some success offensively but uh... i think that michigan secondary getting some guy's healthy i think they're playing well and uh... so give me michigan on the road until proven otherwise with the with the trotions
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_02]: This is the first game at Carl C and Patson's 1957.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_02]: I remember.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's amazing, isn't it?
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_02]: That many years.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_02]: So Bryce Underwood's third.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_02]: This will be his third quality start on the road.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, against three quality teams, right?
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, at OU, Nebraska, now U-S-C.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_02]: But I like U-S-Ease quarterback.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_02]: And I like that USC's Rush defense, I think it's just good enough to maybe slow down Michigan a bit rushed stop that Rush defense that offense just enough to to give USC enough to cover this game so I'll take USC based on quarterback and I think the Rush defense can send my hold up against Michigan.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm with you there.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_01]: I just think that the more experienced quarterback under what has played much better at home than on the road so far.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_01]: And my Kylamans are different smaker on the outside to good running backs.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: It will see how much they run the ball.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_01]: I hope they do because they're both really, really good there in this game.
- 1:01:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going with USC.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right, locks of the week who's got one.
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm taking liberty.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to give the one and a half against you, top.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: Really?
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: Wait a minute, fraud, fraud alert.
- 1:01:23[SPEAKER_01]: That game has been played.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: Well, almost snuck it past yet.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_02]: You know what?
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_02]: We have some good-natured fun with Brian Kelly on this podcast on a weekly basis.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_02]: We listen to him, Ratton Rave, and it's all and good fun.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_02]: But as a way to thank him,
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to take, I'm going to take LSU, giving the nine and a half at home against South Carolina.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_02]: Both teams are coming up by weeks.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_02]: I just think the extra time is going to especially help LSU.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_02]: And it's no fun playing at Death Valley on a night game.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't think this is a place where South Carolina gets healthy.
- 1:02:08[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm going to give the points and take the Tigers.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_00]: Pat, I'm a little disappointed that we did not have you a mass Kent state on this old room.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we should have picked the which which is the worst team in FPS.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_00]: The Golden Flash is favored by three by the way.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_00]: Got to be favored for this hand sense that the Sean Lewis era, which is where I'm going the former Kent state coach.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: St.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_00]: Diego State, favorite by touchdown over Nevada, Wolfpack going to start a true freshman quarterback for the first time since 2017.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_00]: St.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_00]: Diego's defense, St.
- 1:02:39[SPEAKER_00]: Diego's state defense.
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think that is the difference maker here.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: They're very good on third down that they're forcing teams off the field.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think they cover the seven.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_02]: Do we have any way of checking these games by the scores of Brian's games?
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_02]: Each week I'm astounded by the obscurity of a... That's why he wins the locks because they're so high.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've won one lock.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_02]: So I guess I should just shut up right now.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll do it.
- 1:03:05[SPEAKER_01]: I won my lock last week with Clemson and I'm rolling with them again against Boston College, Clemson giving 14 on the road.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_01]: BC's awful defense awful and I do think Clemson has found itself a little bit.
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_01]: I still don't think they're great, but I think they're good enough
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_01]: to win by more than 14 points there.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_01]: It is a missed opportunity forced to not pick Kent State UMass in an absolute tire fire of a game.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_01]: But the fact that Kent State is favored by three points tells you all you need to know there.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: So enjoy that game, everybody.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_01]: All right, last thing here, we got to talk about this.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: who got tired of trying to find love on the internet on the dating sites, swiping left right, whichever way you go.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not really even sure.
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_01]: And bought herself a billboard on highway 101.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_01]: And it says Mary Lisa.com.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_01]: Start it up our own website where you can go and like basically pitch yourself to Lisa.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: Got a nice picture of a smiling picture.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_01]: Looks like a very nice person.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, this makes shock you all.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_01]: She's 42 years old from San Mateo.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_01]: Not all of the responses were very nice and not all the people maybe the marrying types.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_01]: So she apparently heard from 2,200 potential suitors
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_01]: Some, possibly charming, some online bullies, some outright misogynists.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: I have to ask, fellas, if you were single, which none of us are.
- 1:05:00[SPEAKER_01]: But if you were, would you go to marielisa.com and make a pitch?
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: Or flip side, would you say marijino.com or mariebrian.com?
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_01]: Would you go this route ever?
- 1:05:15[SPEAKER_01]: Gina got to hear from you.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, really.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_02]: I have to go first on this.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I have done this.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_02]: I've had a series of billboard proposals.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_02]: And it didn't go well.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, look, I give Lisa a lot of credit.
- 1:05:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, she wasn't.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't going the way she wanted.
- 1:05:35[SPEAKER_02]: and she was proactive.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_02]: She did something about it.
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we're going to have the fringe folks in there.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_02]: Do we know if she actually found somebody that at least she might be dating that there's hope?
- 1:05:49[SPEAKER_01]: she ended a relationship in April, um, oh, that's actually when she started this.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think she, I don't think she is yet found love.
- 1:06:00[SPEAKER_01]: I, I believe she is still single.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how much she's on the market.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm wishing Lisa the very best and in the fact that she made that kind of effort, shows me that she's a sincere, wonderful person looking for a relationship that matters and I'm wishing her the best.
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_02]: Good luck Lisa.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think some some eyebrows certainly were raised amongst the producers of some of these shows out there on you know these reality TV shows because that seems like that the next step for Lisa is going on the bachelor or bachelor at or or or love island what what's what are some of the other ones and this is not a a genre trail island
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is not a genre that you're necessarily sit down and watch instead of, you know, watching watching another couch football game, but, you know, kudos to Lisa for putting yourself out there and number one, you know, that that takes a lot of guts and I'm sure wasn't cheap to, to buy a billboard at all, you know, I think you got a factor in the cost that that, you know, the start up cost if you will there in the Bay Area to get over line on this one.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Kudos to that, but I think this has, you know, the first step in joining a reality TV show is the first thing that comes to mind for me.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_01]: that that could be the end game here.
- 1:07:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good thought that they actually certainly out there still talking about it.
- 1:07:17[SPEAKER_01]: She says she did.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_01]: She got one application from Jesus Christ and 15 from Donald Trump.
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sure those were legitimate.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:07:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still trying to find out that whether you know where this thing is actually ended up.
- 1:07:35[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, give her a call.
- 1:07:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I haven't been with a West Coast aren't you?
- 1:07:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, you know, I mean, I love going out there.
- 1:07:47[SPEAKER_02]: But you're going to the Oregon game.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_02]: What's your goal?
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what?
- 1:07:50[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, here's the deal.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_01]: She's the San Mateo.
- 1:07:52[SPEAKER_01]: You go down.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: You do your Andrew Luck's story and you taught to Marylysa.com.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: So, now, we'll see, you maybe we'll get Lisa as a guest on the podcast to tell us about all this.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_01]: She can do my locks for the week.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_01]: She might be better content than we are.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's our show, that's enough of God's sake.
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_01]: Enjoy the weekend, everybody, great games, and we will be back to talk about them and whatever other shenanigans go on in college football next week.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for listening.
