- Greg Raymer: Hey everybody and welcome to a Senior Moment Podcast. I'm Greg, and I'm really glad you're here. Before we get into anything else, I want to tell you why I created this show because it's a pretty simple story, and I bet a lot of you are going to recognize yourselves in it. This August, I turned 65. I'm a college grad and proud alumni of WKU, and I like to think of myself as a pretty informed guy, but when that 65th birthday hit, something happened that I wasn't fully ready for. I had a lot of questions, a lot of them. Questions about Medicare and when exactly I was supposed to enroll. Questions about Social Security. Do I take it now? Do I wait? Questions about what happens to my house one day, whether downsizing makes sense, what assisted living actually costs, how any of this fits together. And here's the thing that really got me. I couldn't find one place that just laid it out for me in plain English. No jargon, no sales pitch, no 20-page PDF, just straight answers. So I started digging. I started calling people smarter than me. I started making lists, and somewhere in the middle of all that research, it hit me. Can't be the only one going through this. There are millions of us turning 65 this year alone. Millions more who are 70, 75, 80, still trying to navigate a system that changes the rules every few years and doesn't exactly send you an easy to understand memo. So I figured why not take everything I'm learning and everything I still need to learn and turn it into something useful for all of us to go through together. That's the show. Here's the deal. Every single Thursday at noon I'm gonna be on ⁓ right here with a brand new episode. Short episodes, eight or ten minutes, tops, no fluff, no filler. You've got a life to live, so I'm not gonna waste your time. I want you to be able to listen on your lunch break or in the car, folding laundry, whatever, and walk away actually knowing something you didn't know before. We're gonna cover the stuff that matters to us at this stage of life. Medicare open enrollment and how not to get penalized, social security timing strategies, scams that specifically target seniors and how to spot them before they spot you. Healthy aging, staying connected. Housing decisions, when it makes sense to stay putting and when it might make sense to make a change. Also local resources a lot of us didn't even know existed. Now here's something I'm really excited about. Once a month, instead of my usual solo episode, I'm gonna try to go live with a special guest, someone who actually specializes in whatever we're talking about that day. And you're gonna be able to ask your questions live, right on the spot. No fillers, no scripts, just real answers to whatever is actually on your mind. If got a question about Medicare, Social Security, scams, housing, whatever it might be, that live episode is your chance to get it answered directly. I'll announce the date and the guest ahead of time so you can show up ready with your questions. And one more thing I'm gonna be experimenting with. Once a month, I'm gonna use AI tools to actually build some simple apps. Little tools designed specifically for seniors and for the people who care for them, caregivers, adult children, whoever's helping navigate this stage of life. alongside us. Think reminders, checklists, calculators, that kind of thing. Practical, easy to use tools. I love messing with AI and this is fun for me actually. Here's where I need you. I'm gonna bring these to you as I build them and I want your honest feedback. What works, what doesn't, what's actually useful versus what's just noise. And there's a tool or an app you wish existed. Something that would genuinely make your life or a loved one's life easier. I wanna hear those ideas too. The show works best when it's a two way conversation. And this is a big part of that. My goal with this podcast is simple. I want to inform you. I want to build a community of people going through this stage of life together. And honestly, I want to advocate for us. Seniors don't always get talked to. We get talked about. I want this to be a place where we're talked with. So that's the why behind this whole thing. Starting next week, we're going to dig into our first real topic, and I think you're going to find it useful right away. Before I let you go, I do want to mention one thing. Some of you know me because of my day job. I'm a licensed real estate broker and I've spent almost 25 years helping people navigate exactly the kind of housing decisions we're talking about on this show. So if you or somebody you love ever finds yourself thinking about downsizing or moving into assisted living or you're just not sure what your home's really worth in today's market, that's a conversation I'm always happy to have. No pressure, no obligation. Between our investor network and our zero commission home selling system, which can get your home sold in as little as 14 days. With zero out of pocket commission costs to you. ⁓ we've got some options a lot of folks didn't even know exist. Reach out any time and we'll talk it through. That's it for today. Thank you for spending a few minutes of your Thursday with me. It means a lot. If this episode helped you or made you smile, do me a favor and share it with somebody who needs to hear it. Follow the page also so you don't miss next week, including that live Q<unk>A session and the AI updates I mentioned. You know, with all the technology, social media and AI constantly competing for our attention, one thing I've noticed is what is really slipping by us a lot of times is knowing the truth about something. And above all else, we will strive to find the truth for you on any given topic. So with that said, my sign-off reminder each week on that will be one of my favorite Bible verses from the book of John, chapter eight, verse thirty-two. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. I'm Greg. This has been a Senior Moment Podcast. I will see you right back here next Thursday at noon. Take care of yourself.
