- 0:01When was that reconned? In enterprise, when it's
- 0:05discovered that the females actually control the men with
- 0:09their. That was revealed to the.
- 0:10Interview. Nice.
- 0:12That was that was revealed in the original series as well.
- 0:15Look, I don't mind that. Put that in sources.
- 0:17I'm cool with that. I will.
- 0:18I'll be fine. I'll thrive.
- 0:22I'll thrive, dude. I'll be all right y'all.
- 0:25Y'all do you, do you. The thing isn't though, Natalie.
- 0:32You say that I can't see it. You're absolutely right.
- 0:34After we claimed, let's let's talk about that first because.
- 0:36I was going to go in a totally. Different direction.
- 0:38You can make as much money as you need and work your way
- 0:41towards any ship in the game. They they were trying to cash in
- 0:46off of that nostalgia and that hype.
- 0:50Welcome to World News Today, where we talk about all the
- 0:55horrific things happening in the world today.
- 0:59I'm your host Jar Jar Jabroni. And I'm Tavern.
- 1:04Oh, we're not doing that right. We're not doing any of that.
- 1:06Oh, we're gonna talk about all the world things happening.
- 1:11I bet you in Stanton. If Stanton is the OK, never
- 1:22mind. I'm not going to do it.
- 1:22I'm not going to do it. Oh God, we got so close.
- 1:25All right. That was like, how far are we
- 1:28going? No.
- 1:30We're not going to do it. We're not going to do it because
- 1:32that's not what this show is about.
- 1:33This show is open Comms Radio, your Star Citizen call in show.
- 1:39We're here today. We're here every week, just
- 1:42about. We take some days off in the
- 1:45summer, but we're here for you and we're hanging out with our
- 1:48buddies and we're hanging out hopefully sometimes with
- 1:51strangers. Well, we welcome.
- 1:58What are you talking about? I mean, it hasn't happened yet,
- 2:00but we want it to happen, right? Yeah, I mean, absolutely.
- 2:09If you join the discord, you come on in when we're live.
- 2:13Wednesdays 9:00 PM Eastern Time, 6:00 PM Pacific.
- 2:19If you're in the middle of the country.
- 2:22Just do the math. Yeah, or give your thoughts and
- 2:26write them in the Discord and we'll try to parrot them.
- 2:29It's. It's if you're in Europe, it's
- 2:32probably it's like midnight. No, it's like 3 in the morning.
- 2:35So if you're in Europe, we would like you to to come and get up,
- 2:42wake up early or just stay up all night.
- 2:44I know a lot of you are, are sociopaths.
- 2:49You don't you don't want to get some sleep.
- 2:52And then you'd love to call in and let us know, you know what
- 2:55you think about a video game. Speaking of which, what were
- 3:01you? What were you thinking about
- 3:04this video game? I was thinking so much about
- 3:07this video game to have. Thank you for asking.
- 3:10I was thinking all week about this video game.
- 3:12Actually, I've been, I've been diving into the sci-fi.
- 3:17I've been playing a little Stellaris.
- 3:18I've been watching some sci-fi movies.
- 3:21I watched a really good movie this week.
- 3:25Superman May have, you may have heard of it.
- 3:30I don't know. See, we need another show to
- 3:35talk about these kinds of nonsensical things.
- 3:37It's like, dude, it's a Superman movie.
- 3:41Definitely would be another show that.
- 3:42Would be so. You gotta stay in our lane.
- 3:46We. Gotta stay in our lane.
- 3:48We got a little. Tidy, you know.
- 3:51Me seeing the entertainment news, the entertainment media,
- 3:57because you know, there's like wars going on.
- 3:59They can cover those things. But no, they're gonna, they're
- 4:01gonna talk about Superman and how woke it is and this and
- 4:05that, whatever. So I was like, OK, I have to go
- 4:06see Superman now. And by the way, I'm a big DC
- 4:10Superman fan. Everything that James Gunn did,
- 4:16every decision James Gunn made for this movie was the right
- 4:20decision. That is a.
- 4:25That's a, That's a glowing. That's a glowing review.
- 4:28Let me tell you something, OK? You've seen Nathan Fillion
- 4:32dressed as Guy Gardner with that bowl, that blonde bowl cup,
- 4:35right? Yeah, the guy, the guy doesn't
- 4:37have any bad roles. I mean, he's he's usually
- 4:39pretty. 'Cause he's he's, he's, he's a
- 4:42perfect specimen. He's got his, his jawline is
- 4:47superb and he's he, he, by the way, if you're, if you're ADC
- 4:51fan, he's played the Green Lantern for like, I don't know,
- 4:5720 years now. He's played different variations
- 5:00on the Green Lantern. What in what?
- 5:03In what media? In the in the cartoons.
- 5:06So he's been the Green Lantern. They did like a whole new 52
- 5:10series throughout, like the basically from like, I don't
- 5:14know, 2008, 2007 until like yesterday.
- 5:19And he's been the Green Lantern throughout all of them.
- 5:22So. So those of us who are big fans
- 5:24know him as, but it's a different Green Lantern.
- 5:26He plays Hal Jordan it it doesn't matter his bowl cut,
- 5:30choosing Nathan Fillion, the direction I think they're gonna
- 5:34take with Guy Gardner as the Green Lantern.
- 5:38I think I know what he's doing. I'm not gonna spoil anything.
- 5:41Anyway, it's all perfect putting Hawk Girl in it.
- 5:47It's good to I'm I'm happy you enjoyed the movie.
- 5:50I haven't seen it. I'd like to, but I'll probably
- 5:53wait until just 'cause you know. Yeah, well, the, the, the reason
- 5:59I bring it up is not only because it's an epic, beautiful
- 6:02movie that you should go see Superman, but it's a sci-fi.
- 6:07It's it's kind of, it's very sci-fi.
- 6:09Like, Superman's an alien and he comes from another planet and he
- 6:13lands on Earth and yes, that does, you know, he's fleeing the
- 6:18destruction. That does make him a refugee.
- 6:21We don't need to go into it. But it's a sci-fi kind of trope,
- 6:26isn't that? That's also like a mythos trope
- 6:28of like, humanity. This is a superhero movie, Yeah,
- 6:31I mean. No, but I mean the trope of like
- 6:34the baby who's like, like, like it's like Moses was sent down
- 6:38the river in a basket. This is the very same thing Goku
- 6:44has the same Goku Dragon Ball Z. You got to put this on another
- 6:49shout like this is I feel like we're off, but it's still a
- 6:54superhero. It's still it's superheroes.
- 6:57I mean, it's like, you know, Hercules, I mean, come on.
- 7:01I mean, that's it's like its own vein.
- 7:03I wouldn't call it a. Well, there are other there are
- 7:07other. Listen, there are other super.
- 7:09There are other sci-fi tropes in the Superman movie, right?
- 7:14And there's some sci-fi tropes that I'd love to see in Star
- 7:18Citizen and some that maybe I wouldn't want to see in Star
- 7:22Citizen. OK.
- 7:25OK. OK.
- 7:27All right. I see.
- 7:28And now I see where you're going with this.
- 7:29Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:31So Long story short, guys, if you haven't seen Superman, watch
- 7:34Superman. Make up your own mind.
- 7:35But just know that it's perfect. The script is tight.
- 7:38It is a perfect movie and anyone who disagrees, we will start a
- 7:44whole new show. If you disagree, put it in the
- 7:46comments. We will start an entirely new
- 7:49YouTube channel and to, to, to to so just so I can scream and
- 7:55yell at you about how wrong you are and and and about how
- 8:00Superman's the perfect movie but.
- 8:02Sounds like it would be a more popular YouTube channel.
- 8:05We'd get more views. Ken, let me tell you something
- 8:08to have I checked. I just checked today we have
- 8:12dozens of listeners. I'm shocked.
- 8:17Dozens. We have about 10 or so on the
- 8:24Spotify. Nope.
- 8:25Nobody, nobody cares, Bob. We gotta, we gotta, we gotta, we
- 8:31gotta up these numbers. I think we need to radically
- 8:33change up some stuff here. Or at least.
- 8:37Yeah, let's try some. Let's try some stuff.
- 8:39I'm excited. Yeah.
- 8:40Yeah, I'm excited. OK, Well how do you recommend we
- 8:42improve the show? Oh, I just think we're doing it.
- 8:47I think I do think every gathering for this, every, you
- 8:52know, ceremoniously for our stresses and patches is kind of
- 8:56fun. We even run out of stuff to talk
- 8:58about all the time, which is fun too.
- 9:02Well, not this week, baby. Hey, not this week, so.
- 9:07I've been playing Star season quite a bit.
- 9:10Not. Not as much as I do.
- 9:12Sometime from inside the first some point.
- 9:16I had a great amount of fun doing that I.
- 9:18Thought that? Well, don't don't.
- 9:19I mean don't spoil. Well, I mean, I, I don't know if
- 9:23frankly, I'm a little between you and me, I'm a little wormed
- 9:25out, but. Because of Dune.
- 9:32Maybe it is just everywhere because.
- 9:35Everyone's putting worms in everything.
- 9:39I was more so thinking like when you dump, you know, God knows
- 9:42how many rounds of 5 S 9 MO and you're out there.
- 9:46I don't know. I don't.
- 9:50Know you mean I'm moving on? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no.
- 9:54But I think it will change. A lot of people have this take.
- 9:56It will change when they go to a new event or the new thing
- 10:01happens and this stays because I've noticed having those little
- 10:04guns that's on the on the building.
- 10:08If the turrets work. Yeah, little turrets, things
- 10:10like those, the stationary turrets.
- 10:14Yeah, I think that's a lot of fun and I think it helps a lot
- 10:17too. So maybe it's just me, but.
- 10:20No, I'm with you. Let's bring another.
- 10:22Another perspective, unless you want to talk, I do like your
- 10:27whole theme of like what is, is that where you wanted to go like
- 10:31sci-fi movies or do you want to talk?
- 10:35Well, this week's question is what's your favorite sci-fi
- 10:39trope you'd like to see in Star Citizen?
- 10:43Yeah, what's the tab? Real quick, before before we
- 10:47bring in our caller here, what is your favorite sci-fi trope
- 10:52that you'd like to see in Star Citizen?
- 10:55Me No the the other tab. Oh, I I mean I would just say
- 11:01the little alien, the the half life, the the head crab.
- 11:09What? The head crab.
- 11:11Everybody knows what I'm talking about.
- 11:12Like. Is that a trope?
- 11:15Yeah. Well, it's in Half Life and in
- 11:17Aliens, and yeah, I would say it's pretty, you know.
- 11:22Little tiny when he runs. Around and like just jumps for
- 11:24your head. So in the in the entire lexicon
- 11:28of sci-fi, you want man with crab head?
- 11:33Oh. Yeah, I get, you know, it gets
- 11:36like running around in the gutters or something like.
- 11:39Yeah, yeah. But in in Alien, it's like it's
- 11:42not a crab. It's more of like a isn't like a
- 11:46spidery, it's a little more. Yeah, it's a little more
- 11:49intimidating. Yeah, it's a little.
- 11:51Less crabby spider, but if you really want the face sucker to
- 11:55be a crab, yeah, in in the Suicide Squad, it was in DC,
- 12:01it's starfish and it sucks your face.
- 12:06Did you see that? Did you see those?
- 12:07OK. No, I I don't think I did.
- 12:09That's probably another evidence of the troop.
- 12:11Tab I have to take you on a journey we're gonna do we're
- 12:14gonna do a a a different show. We're gonna do ADC sci-fi
- 12:18journey. But today we're gonna focus on
- 12:20Star Citizen, and we've talked. Do you wanna?
- 12:21Do do you wanna give what your favorite trope is or you wanna
- 12:24do that at the end? Oh, I'll just say I wanna see
- 12:33the and we've kind of had this, but I like the like corporate
- 12:38big sci-fi corporation research goes awry thing.
- 12:44And Star Citizens has done this a little like with the worm kind
- 12:48of a little bit. But I'll want to see like more
- 12:51in terms of like the investigation side, like you
- 12:57just happen upon some facility and you start picking up audio
- 13:03logs. Maybe you read like a a, a note.
- 13:08Dune does this. Maybe.
- 13:12Not doing, not doing, not doing. Wayland Eutani written on the
- 13:15side there, you know. Oh.
- 13:15Well, Dune does. Yeah, Dune does do this.
- 13:17You're right. It's everywhere.
- 13:21It's all over the place. It's in video games throughout,
- 13:23like Fallout with all the like that kind.
- 13:26Of big bag that yeah. Yeah, but that isn't, that's
- 13:29also not like consistent repetitive MMO gameplay.
- 13:32But we can we can dive more into that with our with our next
- 13:35caller, who I know has a a pretty good take.
- 13:39He's been on the show before. Our resident hobo, our resident
- 13:46leaker, cosmic Hobo. Welcome to Open Comms Radio,
- 13:50your Star Citizen call and show. Thank you for calling in today.
- 13:54Howdy. Howdy Sir.
- 13:57So today's question is what's your favorite sci-fi trope you'd
- 14:02like to see in Star Citizen? I had one right off the top of
- 14:07my head when you first posed that question earlier today.
- 14:10It is the covert organization recruits you.
- 14:15So you know how this happens like all the time.
- 14:19Think section. 31. From Star Trek.
- 14:23Take your. Pick throughout every single
- 14:26sci-fi movie, action flick, whatever is there's the secret
- 14:30government organization. And I there is one already in
- 14:34Star Citizen that very few people know about and might have
- 14:38played a role in a recent event, but I'll get to that.
- 14:42But the idea is that you get recruited by the secret
- 14:46organization to do secret things for the government.
- 14:50That's what I want to see. Men in Black style.
- 14:53Yeah, it's, it's, it's a trope, it's a cliche.
- 14:56But I, I've always, I've always kind of liked it.
- 15:00How it will work in an MO, I have no idea.
- 15:04I, I I'm sure whatever fun little secrets that could come
- 15:09from it would be just spread immediately all across the web.
- 15:13That's the problem. Yeah, yeah.
- 15:15But it would be there's ways you could do it and just tiny little
- 15:20drips and and and that's why I don't think they that's why
- 15:24looping back to what I said a couple seconds ago, I think
- 15:28they're already in action. They just haven't been brought
- 15:32to light yet. So you know, this whole fight
- 15:40for pyro attack on the Stanton sort of thing with the
- 15:46headhunters and frontier fighters and all these
- 15:49different. Groups.
- 15:51Oh, I forgot about that, it's been a while.
- 15:56It's. Fair.
- 15:58Like they. They sort of.
- 15:59Took yeah, we've been warming like they took a break kind of
- 16:02from that main A plot for this kind of B plot, the B story of
- 16:09the region crisis. Unless they're going to tie it
- 16:12all together in the end, but honestly.
- 16:15But yeah, that the a plot is which is coming back.
- 16:19Well, I guess this is more region crisis, but for this next
- 16:24event. But anyway, yeah, Frontier
- 16:27fighters all that. Who?
- 16:29Who gave the Frontier fighters all those ships?
- 16:34And specifically a freaking Idris?
- 16:39What? Where you don't just pick up an
- 16:43interest just lying on the street, like those are capital
- 16:49shifts, right? Like putting aside that the meta
- 16:52game where you yes, you can just buy one.
- 16:56But putting that aside and Laura, think about it, interests
- 17:01are expensive. Interests are designed for
- 17:04militias and they're probably pretty well trapped kind of like
- 17:11in real life. You want to buy yourself a a
- 17:15machine gun, like a full on M60 machine gun, a a big one, like a
- 17:20real one. Those are all trapped like the
- 17:26government, the ATF has lists of the names of purchasers, you've
- 17:31got to have special licenses, all of that, you've got to pay
- 17:34special taxes, that kind of stuff.
- 17:37So wouldn't it make sense that there's such a sort of list for
- 17:43interests? So where'd they get an interest?
- 17:48Probably from those those damned.
- 17:55I don't actually. I have no idea where they would
- 17:56go from the UE. You have to get an interest from
- 17:58the UE. Aren't they the only ones who
- 18:01have them? No, they did the civilian
- 18:04program with a kind of sold off surplus lightning, sold out
- 18:12surplus interests. So like, yeah, they're they're
- 18:18civilians that have it just like technically US civilian citizens
- 18:23have interests. But if someone it it, it's just
- 18:29my thinking that someone in power this secret to all this
- 18:34organization and it has a name. I can't quite remember it off
- 18:37the top because it's it's intentionally generic.
- 18:41It has like the most generic name.
- 18:43It's just like the office or something.
- 18:46Is this Is this like the from Mass Effect?
- 18:49Is this like the Cerberus organization of Star Citizen?
- 18:52Yes, yes, and it's I, I remember the back story for it off the
- 18:57top and I I was briefly trying to find it on the on the
- 19:00Wikipedia. I couldn't because the name is
- 19:03so freaking generic, but it's like the office or the
- 19:07accountants or. Something just call them the
- 19:09organization the. Organization, yeah, the
- 19:11organization, and that's a trope on all of on its own is that
- 19:14it's there's this shadowy, the organization that is working the
- 19:19shadows, but it, it plays into kind of the world, the world,
- 19:24the universe is the versus politics because the
- 19:28organization is part of the Senate, the UE Senate.
- 19:35The Senate famously was kind of sidelined a bit during the the
- 19:41master era, AKA the the dictatorship, the imperial
- 19:45times. So they wanted to build a kind
- 19:48of secret organization that can exert power like that.
- 19:55They're not a law enforcement group or anything like that.
- 19:58They're just there to kind of secretly in the shadows, enforce
- 20:03the will of the Senate so they don't fall into another
- 20:08dictatorship. This What is this like an
- 20:12intelligence Gestapo of sorts? Yeah, yeah, they, they don't.
- 20:17That's terrifying. And, and, and actually it's,
- 20:21it's slightly even more terrifying because of their
- 20:23methods of essentially hiring people.
- 20:28They don't have like agents necessarily.
- 20:31They just hire people for jobs that they don't know what like
- 20:36they don't know who hired them, but they're here.
- 20:39They'd have this job to do, but they can't track back like who
- 20:43hired? Them this is Interpol.
- 20:45It's Interpol. It's an evil Interpol.
- 20:49I mean Interpol is a little. It.
- 20:52It's they murder scientists and like.
- 20:55It's but it it's that. Kind of.
- 20:57They're not killing war criminals at Interpol.
- 20:59You know what? I.
- 21:01Mean but yeah that's the idea is that they're they're they're
- 21:04this and they likely helped at least partially engineer this
- 21:09crisis to shift power against some one of the factions.
- 21:14We actually talked about this at a bar citizen of all places a
- 21:17few months ago last year I think it was and it was it was very
- 21:21interesting because the the theory the guy had and I've I'm
- 21:27kind of stealing a little bit here is that the internal
- 21:31politics of the Senate's the V organization.
- 21:35I, they were kind of utilized to get this outsider group.
- 21:39This outsider group is one that wants, this political group
- 21:42wants pretty much return to the Messer era because I, I, I'm
- 21:48pretty sure they're xenophobic and everyone else is like, yeah,
- 21:52aliens are fine, I guess. But the Messer Messer rights or
- 21:55whatever they're known as are kind of like no aliens bad.
- 22:01Yeah, for people, for people who don't know the Messer era, it
- 22:03was like the era 200 years before the era in game.
- 22:09And it was like a dictatorship based, a monarchy, dictatorship
- 22:15of the Messers. That was their name.
- 22:18And they just kind of like, ruled with an iron fist, right?
- 22:21Yep, Yep, they oppressed everyone.
- 22:24They hated Alien, they almost brought the UAE to war with like
- 22:30the Banu and others and. That sort of.
- 22:33Stuff they did fight wars, of course, with the well, I'm not
- 22:38going to defend a xenophobic dictatorship, but they did have
- 22:43to fight off the vandal which. Well, easy peasy.
- 22:48I've been an arena commander. Those ships, those are frail.
- 22:51Yeah, they're made of paper. Those are you can just hockey
- 22:54popping those off. With 10, just like a little,
- 22:57bend them a little bit, try both together, yeah.
- 22:59Yeah, they they die in two seconds, dude, it's a couple of
- 23:02hit. I fight them in my Zeus, my
- 23:07exploration Zeus. You can come with me again.
- 23:09They're getting the turret gun. We'd probably I always get
- 23:12beyond, you know, like no, not bragging, but you know, level 10
- 23:17or whatever it is in there. Wow, double digits.
- 23:21I I I've beaten all of the waves based game modes and we're going
- 23:25to matter multiple times. But yeah, it's that's so tying
- 23:31that all together, that's kind of the trope on and see how it
- 23:34works is I think it'll be one of those things that the community
- 23:38kind of eventually catches wind of.
- 23:40But CIG, or at least the writers will never kind of will kind of
- 23:45wink and a nod kind of things like, oh, that's mission giver.
- 23:51I don't know, a little shady. They're, they're probably just a
- 23:54middle man for something or some other group, I don't know, or
- 23:59like 2 would chains down like it's, it's, I think that's kind
- 24:04of whenever there's going to be a boogeyman, it'll be that
- 24:07organization, the organization in the background there.
- 24:11That's also what. I want.
- 24:14To say, well, that's also kind of a good way if you're making
- 24:19an MMO and you want to have the developers like totally have a
- 24:25hand in the direction of the way things are going.
- 24:29You make a secret organization, you call it the organization.
- 24:32Oh, the organization did this or that.
- 24:35And it's just the way for the developers to put in what they
- 24:38want or navigate where they want to go and maintain the in game
- 24:44narrative there. So it's smart.
- 24:48Yeah. And and we need to get overtime
- 24:50more connection to the Senate to see how it kind of operates
- 24:55because and it's we had elections, Remember we, we
- 24:59elected the last imperator. What was that four or five years
- 25:02ago now? Well, the cool thing about
- 25:06interesting thing about Star Citizen is they still use the
- 25:08Electoral College. So who's really voting for who?
- 25:17Oh God, the future still sucks. Yeah.
- 25:20So anyway, Cosmic Hobo, thank you for coming in.
- 25:26Of course, as always, you can stay.
- 25:29Stay here. We have a big couch.
- 25:31The couch gets bigger the more people we have on it.
- 25:34You can see it expanding right now beside you.
- 25:36If you could slide down that couch.
- 25:39Wow, how does it do that? It's it's science.
- 25:44OK. That's cool.
- 25:46So we're gonna bring up our our next guest.
- 25:49Who do we have here? Tav.
- 25:51Mr. Excuse me, Excuse me. Lord Anubis, if you Lord Anubis,
- 26:00welcome to open Comms Radio, your Star Citizen call in show.
- 26:07Just gotta ham that up. I'm just.
- 26:11Thank you for joining us today. Thank you.
- 26:17And I got to say, it's a lot more fun when you leave Twitch
- 26:20and this up at the same time, so you get to hear it twice.
- 26:25Indeed. Double the fun.
- 26:28Yes. Lord Anubis, what's your
- 26:32favorite sci-fi trope you'd like to see in Star Citizen?
- 26:38Anything that actually affects the game.
- 26:41That's not the spirit of the question, Lord Anubis.
- 26:47I mean they cover most of the tropes.
- 26:50Pretty fair. Except you're not falling in
- 26:53love with aliens. You're not.
- 26:56Yet. You're not transporting yourself
- 27:00through space. There's no androids looking to
- 27:05become human and there's no Cybermen or Borg or whatever.
- 27:10So, you know, but pretty much everything else that they have
- 27:17in the game as far as lore is just lore.
- 27:22And that's kind of the problem. It needs to actually have an
- 27:24effect on the game. You know, that that that's the
- 27:29thing. I mean, if we're going to have
- 27:30tropes, they got to actually do something rather than just be a
- 27:34blurb in the loading screen. You don't think the the egg and
- 27:43the worm was quite tropy? The the facility and the
- 27:47scientists were working with radiation like it's very tropy.
- 27:52I mean, it is, but again, it it, it's an individual ride that
- 28:00doesn't affect the larger thing. We're still just churning in
- 28:04resources for money. There's no stakes in this whole
- 28:10region thing. You know, I mean, like, what if
- 28:14we all fail to regions just not come back?
- 28:16Well, no, because they've always been here.
- 28:18They haven't actually. Region isn't actually broken, at
- 28:22least not from our perspective. Right.
- 28:24That'd be cool if there were like a week or two weeks where
- 28:27they actually did that. You're like, sorry.
- 28:30Your kid was dead per week. That would be so.
- 28:34Fun, dude. How, how like seriously would
- 28:38people take it? And how upset would they be?
- 28:41And then how much would they be itching to come back once they
- 28:47were like, oh, regions back. People would be like, finally,
- 28:50and you'd have a flurry of people coming back.
- 28:54Yeah, that or, or you could just have people that, you know,
- 28:57regions send you some random place, you know, anything,
- 29:00anything at all. That makes more sense if it's if
- 29:04it could just affect the game. For once, no, no one would.
- 29:08They would never do like they would never go that far with it
- 29:10because someone would like sue them because they suck.
- 29:15Someone who sucks would sue them being like I paid for the game.
- 29:17You're saying I can't play the game for a week.
- 29:19That's you know. Yeah, but if they go to some
- 29:22random place or if they get. Kick some, kick some somewhere
- 29:26random. It sends them to to digital hell
- 29:29or whatever and their consciousness is floating around
- 29:32of Rick and mini game or whatever 'cause they happen to
- 29:36die. I mean, they're getting tortured
- 29:38by, I don't know, Yeah. I mean, we got Jo already.
- 29:44Maybe they go to some collections point where it's
- 29:47just where you have to get like, there's just some extra bit of
- 29:50tedium, you know? Yeah, it's just a collection
- 29:53guy. Yeah, maid's outfit just
- 29:56whipping you for like 3 hours and you can't get out of it by
- 29:59just taking on other prisoners. You just have to just suffer in
- 30:03digital hell. Is that on Steam?
- 30:05Why? Why do we want this?
- 30:07Feature I don't. Know is that on sale or I'll pay
- 30:09full price? But real, actual consequences,
- 30:14because I, I, you know, tropes are one thing, but like, I don't
- 30:18read the blurbs when I'm, when I'm loading in, you know, I
- 30:21mean, not even wanting to read, I mean, you, you kind of skim
- 30:25it. But if it doesn't really change
- 30:27anything, all you know is what YouTube told you to go get the
- 30:30money. Yeah, this is, this is a
- 30:34challenge. This is a big challenge nowadays
- 30:38is that everything you put in is just going to get ruined right
- 30:40away. There's no monthly magazine that
- 30:43comes anymore. You know, once, once once Game
- 30:47Facts started on the Internet, that was it.
- 30:51RIP Nintendo Power. Nintendo, I blame the bulletin
- 30:58board at the entrance of Babbages and Electronics
- 31:03Boutique. You got to be old.
- 31:07Begins. I remember IP games.
- 31:10Oh no, you'd have to travel. I'll talk about Electronics
- 31:13Boutique. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm there, I'm
- 31:18there. You'd have to travel to do
- 31:19things back in the day, yes. You want to know something?
- 31:25What's that? You got to go.
- 31:27You want to know something, you got to go.
- 31:28Nowadays if you want to make out with Pan Am in the in the tank,
- 31:34you just got to Google it. Are you talking about the hit
- 31:38game Cyberpunk? I'm, I'm talking about the hit
- 31:40game Cyberpunk. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:43What about giant schlongs talking about Cyberpunk?
- 31:50He's just talking about the hit game Cyberpunk.
- 31:53Is that not a sci-fi trope? I didn't know, I was confused
- 31:55because I saw it. It is.
- 31:57The original Ferengi design was supposed to have giant schlongs.
- 32:01No. Yes, really.
- 32:04Yes. What?
- 32:05Well, that's more than Ganic. You to know what Knights this is
- 32:10Who? Who?
- 32:11Who? Sorry, what?
- 32:13Gene Rodger nixed that. All of them.
- 32:22They also nixed the four breasted counselor Troy that was
- 32:26hyper sex crazed. They also nixed I mean like it
- 32:31was crazy. ANYWAYS, tropes.
- 32:36Star Trek could have been so much more.
- 32:40You know, sometimes you don't let someone take full control
- 32:43because let's just say they may end up making things like
- 32:47Episode 1 or Star Trek 5 or the second one movie.
- 32:54Yeah. Yeah, Well, what are you gonna
- 32:59do? You know, Chris Roberts has.
- 33:02Do you think Chris Roberts has full control of Star Citizen or
- 33:05do you think he's kind of running this thing?
- 33:09He's got a committee now. He's who's the who's that, that
- 33:11guy, like second in charge guy, What's his name?
- 33:15The skinny dude who comes out as as Citizen Con.
- 33:19Percival. No, no, no.
- 33:22Percival T Money. What I I.
- 33:26Know who? I know who you're talking about
- 33:28the Is he the guy that did the demo say?
- 33:31Yeah, he's the guy who did the demo, and he's like, we're gonna
- 33:33do it live. And then it didn't work and he
- 33:36was like, no, no, it's not. How this is all right crazy now?
- 33:41Do it live. Fucking thing sucks.
- 33:43Do it live. And they were like, we're using
- 33:45a different computer than what we tested.
- 33:47And I was like, why? Why didn't you just test it on
- 33:50the computer you're using it? That's an aside thing.
- 33:52That's just like an event management thing.
- 33:54It's like use do the practice on the stuff you're using live.
- 34:00Don't do the practice on, you know, stuff you're not going to
- 34:04be using live. Although if it works Florida
- 34:08State people would just say it was pre rendered.
- 34:10It failing showed that it actually is a thing.
- 34:15Yeah, it's it's a thing. It was a pretty good thing,
- 34:20honestly. I liked the Squadron 42.
- 34:23I The only thing I didn't like about it is that I was, it was
- 34:26just a movie, Like there was no game.
- 34:29Like they sat on a turret. On Rails, kind of like on Rails
- 34:35shooter. No, Star Fox is on rails, but
- 34:39you're playing a game the whole time.
- 34:43This is the story. It wasn't.
- 34:44It was a lot of cutscenes. It was an hour and a half, dude.
- 34:46It was a full movie. Yeah.
- 34:49It was Kojima levels of cutscene.
- 34:52It was good, it was entertaining, but like it was,
- 34:55it wasn't a game, it was a movie.
- 34:57It's Grand Theft Auto 5 in space and this is their single player
- 35:01campaign that they took longer to put out than the multiplayer.
- 35:06I'm afraid, can I say something? I'm afraid that's going to turn
- 35:09people off because there when I like Cyberpunk is for me too
- 35:16much dialogue. Because I'm like, dude, I've
- 35:19been sitting here for like 20 minutes and all I've been doing
- 35:21is talking to people. Which is like, it's not that I
- 35:25don't enjoy that, I enjoy that, but I don't want to do it for
- 35:28that much time if I'm sitting down to play a game.
- 35:34I mean, part of it to me seems like they should integrate it
- 35:36with the multiplayer. So you're kind of still in the
- 35:40verse while you're doing all these things.
- 35:44What do you mean? Well, I mean, let's say Grand
- 35:49Theft Auto, right? Like you're doing missions and
- 35:51when you can do missions in multiplayer that lead towards
- 35:56long term career goals and things that are completely
- 35:59scripted and things like that. And go through an entire
- 36:03storyline and they could do that with squadron 42.
- 36:06They could do parts of it in the verse, you know certain missions
- 36:11that you have to do while other players are trying to achieve it
- 36:14too in order to integrate the two games together.
- 36:17I I think yeah, the the full on single player 72 hours worth of
- 36:23dialogue in order to fill out a 10 hour game is, you know, isn't
- 36:30going to work. I do think that yeah, you you
- 36:32kind of open that up. So it isn't just that.
- 36:35Well, we've only seen the first mission.
- 36:41It's an hour and a half of cutscenes for a first mission.
- 36:44Yeah, yeah. That's my point.
- 36:47It was a lot. It was a lot.
- 36:49It was like, I mean, that was half of 2001 Space Odyssey, you
- 36:53know what I mean? That was that was almost the
- 36:56length of the Superman movie. I mean, it's it's.
- 37:00Kind of. What Chris Roberts wanted to do
- 37:02with it, I mean, it's even, there's a reason you picked the
- 37:05crisis engine back in the day. Is it delivered?
- 37:09You know that's. Cinematic.
- 37:11Kind of experience, yeah. That's cinematic storytelling,
- 37:14you know? I like that.
- 37:17I mean, I'm into that. That's what that was then.
- 37:23But given, yeah, it's it's even more.
- 37:25Cinematic than crisis that opening but that was yeah, I
- 37:29think it's yeah it's kind of really on brand form it seems so
- 37:32I I I would think that after that opening the game opens up a
- 37:36little bit more you might even hopefully have a choice to
- 37:40either pursue various different things or get a different kit
- 37:45maybe. But if the whole thing is on
- 37:49Rails it it wouldn't surprise me either.
- 37:51Yeah, yeah. We'll see.
- 37:53My major concern is that it's an hour and a half worth of cut
- 37:56scenes, then you go into combat and combat's just like it is in
- 38:00in PU where you take out a couple ships rather easily and
- 38:05then you're back to cut scenes. Yeah, that was my thing.
- 38:09I'm not walking around this ship much.
- 38:11I'm not gearing up. I'm not like, I'm not like
- 38:16learning how to play the game. And I've been playing it for an
- 38:19hour and a half and all I've done is a is a turret, you know,
- 38:24gunner. There's that big FPS chunk.
- 38:30Yeah, exactly. And you're jumping outside the
- 38:32ship. You had the little bit of Eva
- 38:34kind of fun and introducing you to the various concepts of the
- 38:39game. And then you meet up with the
- 38:41NPC and you go to the cutscenes. I mean, I'll do it.
- 38:44I'm just concerned about the people who've never played this
- 38:46game at all and then they get that and then they're like, oh,
- 38:49what's going on? Like who's your audience?
- 38:52You, you're not going for The Who, who, who are we like who
- 38:57are we looking for? Are we looking for the twitchy
- 39:00shooter audience, which just seemed like they were going for
- 39:02for a little bit there? Are we going for a hardcore
- 39:06sci-fi audience? Are we going for an MMO
- 39:08audience? Who?
- 39:10I think. For Squadron 42, the middle one
- 39:12there, the hardcore sci-fi is what they're going for.
- 39:16Yeah. You know the problem with our
- 39:19hardcores? Yeah, sorry.
- 39:23Well, the problem with with the hardcore sci-fi is that even
- 39:27those people, I'm one of them, shouldn't have to watch a 3 1/2
- 39:32hour Astro Historian video in order to know what's going on.
- 39:37I'm confident that'll be taken care of in in squash and 42 at
- 39:41least, given you have an hour and a half of dialogue in the
- 39:47game. Yeah, there's, you don't have to
- 39:50know everything going in. That's why they have that long
- 39:52of a those long cutscenes, as they're telling you.
- 39:56All you have to know is Gillian Anderson is the same.
- 39:59Fair, Yeah. She's a nice lady.
- 40:03All right, well, Lord Anubis, anything else you want to say
- 40:06before we bring up our next caller here?
- 40:09Yes, I am now the only caller. Everyone else must be booted and
- 40:14it just must be mean. Focus must be on me.
- 40:18I'm just kidding. OK.
- 40:19All right. Well, if that's going.
- 40:20To be ridiculous for half a second.
- 40:22Well, Anubis, you did. You did.
- 40:24You prepared something or you had something sent to you.
- 40:30Oh. I do not have that yet.
- 40:34They still need to upload that to me.
- 40:36They still they're uploading that to you?
- 40:39That's so weird because I thought you uploaded it to me.
- 40:43That was text only. Yeah, you are so.
- 40:47You want me to read? It like that.
- 40:50Is your is yours. You wrote it.
- 40:52It was wonderful. OK, I'll just say for my guests,
- 40:59if you send me something like a a, a, a theatrical piece that
- 41:06you wrote and you just straight up send it to me without any
- 41:10context, I'm assuming next episode that you're gonna want
- 41:15to read that. We can have Tav read.
- 41:20We can make Tav do it. He has trouble.
- 41:23Reading. Yeah, you know what?
- 41:25Good, good Tav pop on there into the resources tab.

- 43:46routed it to the Alexa instead of the car.

- 44:01Duke Lado the Second welcome to Open Comms Radio, your Star
- 44:05Citizen call in show. Thank you for joining us today.
- 44:08Today's question What's your favorite sci-fi trope you'd like
- 44:12to see in Star Citizen? Aliens.
- 44:17Hey. That's it.
- 44:19I I want to see the aliens and not just, you know, not blue.
- 44:22Tentacles. Well, let's not get crazy.
- 44:26I mean, I want to see them in in the flesh graphically, not via
- 44:31communication technology in the game.
- 44:33Like I want to interact with them, hang out with them, see
- 44:37them walking around on planets and stuff.
- 44:39Reach. Yeah.
- 44:41I just, I just feel like it would really add, add to the
- 44:46feeling of, of the universe being alive to have aliens going
- 44:49around doing their business. So you say aliens, what do you?
- 44:54What do you think? And you close your eyes, you
- 44:55think of aliens. What are you thinking?
- 44:58I mean, I, I'm excited for the Tavarin.
- 45:00I really want to see, you know, some kind of.
- 45:04Snooty. People.
- 45:05Giant cockatoo, you know, giving me a hard time and maybe giving
- 45:12me some missions. Interesting, interesting.
- 45:17I think they were interesting like culturally, the idea of,
- 45:21you know, a race where amongst themselves when they would
- 45:24fight, like the, you know, the loser would just take the
- 45:27winner's culture and identity unto themselves.
- 45:32And it's interesting how that as a cultural trait of the species
- 45:37sort of killed their whole way of life because, you know, they
- 45:41lost the Tavarian wars of the humans.
- 45:43They get subsumed by the EUE and then they just, they literally
- 45:47just abandoned their own culture and history in order to be more
- 45:50human because that's what they do.
- 45:53That's crazy. It's interesting.
- 45:56I, I, it, it, it, it is like so baffling to me how like how
- 46:03someone thought of that because abandoning your culture like
- 46:07willingly is it's just not something that we see
- 46:12historically. And so it is so.
- 46:14Actually, no, it yeah, No, we do.
- 46:17So the, the one of the most well known sort of examples that
- 46:21people don't quite understand is the Norman conquest of England.
- 46:26You know, the Normans came in, they conquer England and you see
- 46:31a big cultural change amongst people.
- 46:34And it it used to be that people thought of it as the Normans
- 46:38were coming in and and slaughtering lots of people and
- 46:41just taking over. But actually, yeah.
- 46:45But genetically, they find that there weren't that many Normans.
- 46:49But what happened was you don't want to be associated with the
- 46:52losers. So you just you start dressing
- 46:55like the winners. You start trying to talk like
- 46:57them because they're the the powerful, they're the rich.
- 47:00So you want to fit in with them as much as you can and be
- 47:04associated with them, as opposed to being associated with the
- 47:09guys who just lost and whose power base is being ousted.
- 47:14Where were the Normans from? Normandy.
- 47:17Is that a real question? France.
- 47:20Yeah. You're telling me a bunch of
- 47:23English dudes started dressing like French dudes?
- 47:26Yeah. Absolutely.
- 47:29Yep. And actually, so that's, you
- 47:31know, some of the borrowed French words that we have in the
- 47:34English language are obviously from this time period.
- 47:37And the best example of the the power difference between the two
- 47:40is the fact that we refer to cows and beef as two different
- 47:46words because the cow is the animal which the poor people
- 47:50would have managed. And then the beef from the
- 47:54French, which I'm not going to try to pronounce.
- 47:56But that's, you know, just the food which the French, the rich
- 47:59are only interested in the steak and the beef that was on my
- 48:02plate. And it's the same thing with
- 48:04mutton for sheep, with pork for for pigs.
- 48:08And so, yeah, it's interesting. But anyway.
- 48:11I mean, that's. I feel like we're going way off
- 48:13course here. Turkeys.
- 48:15Turkeys are from North America, so no.
- 48:17That was Turkey's Turkey, but. Turkey was named after Turkish
- 48:23sailors who like to eat Turkey, so they called them turkeys.
- 48:27Turkeys. Is that true?
- 48:31Yeah. See.
- 48:33Turkeys are named after Turkey, even though it's an American
- 48:36bird. I feel like they must have had
- 48:39another name to begin with because Turkey actually did
- 48:41spread to the old world really quickly.
- 48:43Yeah, but it was, it was a Native American word for and
- 48:46they probably, there were probably many words for turkeys
- 48:48because they're are all across North America.
- 48:51They were probably some Native American words and those were
- 48:54probably located with smallpox and murder.
- 49:00Murder. Going back to people abandoning
- 49:03culture, I mean that that did happen recently.
- 49:07I mean, even even with my grandfather, he refused to
- 49:12acknowledge, you know, his last name was Gallegos, you know.
- 49:17That's awesome, you know. I mean, it's, it's a they now,
- 49:22now they're. Yeah, and it happens all the
- 49:25time here in America. Yeah.
- 49:27But they've even been here since before, like New Mexico was a
- 49:32state or was a territory. But he was like, Nope, we're
- 49:38not. We're I'm not going to teach my
- 49:39kids Spanish. I'm not going to do any of that.
- 49:42You know, yeah, my grandfather did the same thing.
- 49:46He Sicilian, Italian. He didn't teach his kids any of
- 49:49the Italian language. And that's just it.
- 49:50So if if there are cultural pressures and disadvantages to
- 49:55maintaining your old culture, then people will will drop it.
- 50:00And I think that's what's fascinating with the Tavar and
- 50:02right, they just do it on a massive scale.
- 50:05Yeah. Yeah, They dropped their
- 50:07religion, they dropped their culture.
- 50:09They, you know, lost interest in their own history.
- 50:11And they're just like, Nope, you know, we lost.
- 50:14We're going to, we're going to integrate.
- 50:16So are the Tavarian very warrior like?
- 50:20They were, I mean, I don't, we still don't really know how
- 50:24they're how well they're integrating into humanity.
- 50:26And that's what I'd love to see. I think we've had glimpses or,
- 50:31or hints about them, you know, some of them serving in the
- 50:34military. I, I, in my mind, I picture them
- 50:39definitely because they were a very Marshall race.
- 50:42So I do picture them, you know, being mercenaries, fountain
- 50:45hunters a lot. And then, you know, taking part
- 50:49in the military where possible to, but I, I mean, I'd love to
- 50:52come across like some little colonies or something like that.
- 51:00Well, it's interesting that they're avian.
- 51:02They're they're bird like race and so many birds are predators.
- 51:09They're hunters, right? Probably.
- 51:13I think, I think most birds are, are predatory.
- 51:16Some eat berries and shit, but a lot of them, I mean, they're
- 51:19eating insects or they're eating small, small creatures.
- 51:22So if you're thinking of like a, a humanoid or a sentient version
- 51:28of that that makes fucking spaceships, they would, you
- 51:31know, you expect them to be predatory.
- 51:33But then again, I mean, human beings evolved from, you know,
- 51:38our, our hominin ancestors who were probably also, I mean,
- 51:43jury's out where they were like what they were probably just
- 51:45like us. If you go back in time and and
- 51:48you think about that. Super intelligent, vicious long
- 51:53distance runners. Or like in.
- 51:58I remember reading a a description once.
- 52:00It was talking about how because the the one thing human beings
- 52:04do better physically than any other animals is we run, can
- 52:08run. Longer we we cook better than
- 52:10all. Of that and and cook, but that's
- 52:12the so they you know they they guess and it makes sense based
- 52:16on what we see amongst surviving hunter gatherers today that we
- 52:19would just run our prey down. We're not better.
- 52:24We're not better than horses. We are.
- 52:28No, we're not. They are.
- 52:29Not. Not in terms of speed.
- 52:30We're not. We're slower than.
- 52:32So horses don't ride people, people ride horses.
- 52:39I I mean that I have no response to that.
- 52:42I'm gonna show the opposite. But.
- 52:45But if you're being chased by a horse, that horse isn't going to
- 52:49show up four days later while you're sleeping.
- 52:52It might the. Human will.
- 52:58We may be slow, but we were persistent.
- 53:00We were persistence hunters. Wow, this episode is going all
- 53:05over the place. All over the place.
- 53:06We're still staying on top, which I really like.
- 53:10But This is why I want aliens, you know, I want that that
- 53:12difference that, you know, the mystery of I, I want some
- 53:17difference in the way NPCS act. Let's give some ambiguity in the
- 53:22missions. Like, you know, let's say you're
- 53:24getting missions from Xi'an. I mean, I, I think this Gianna
- 53:28interesting too, because we, you know, we had this long Cold War
- 53:31with them and now relationships are a little bit better, but
- 53:34they apparently have like a a secret enemy on the other side
- 53:38of their territory from us. So how's that all going to?
- 53:42Love that bit of lore. I want to.
- 53:43See where that goes? Yeah.
- 53:45How's that all going to shake out?
- 53:47Like they, they're trying to keep us from meeting them
- 53:49because they obviously they don't want to risk what, what
- 53:52happens if we get along really well with those guys and then we
- 53:55end up going to war with the Xi'an in a center?
- 53:58You know, that's what they're trying to avoid.
- 54:01And maybe they'll try. God, did did any of you watch
- 54:04that show? Shit, what was that other show?
- 54:09It was by? It was created, also created by
- 54:12G. No, it was created by Gene
- 54:13Roddenberry like Star Trek Andromeda.
- 54:16Oh, Andromeda. Yeah.
- 54:17No, no, no, Nope. Nope.
- 54:18No. This one, the aliens come to
- 54:20Earth and they're giving us some technology, but they're actually
- 54:25just seekingly trying. Yes, yes.
- 54:27So they're actually just trying to train human beings and to,
- 54:31like, get us on their side because they're being chased by
- 54:34a much more deadly alien species.
- 54:38What if that ends up? What if like the Xi'an are
- 54:42trying to buddy up to us and they're sharing technology You.
- 54:45Know like we're seeing. We're seeing all this new Xi'an
- 54:47technology and it's really because they're like, man, we
- 54:49are, we're getting thrashed over here and we need these humans
- 54:52because they breed like, like rats and.
- 54:56Can can I tell you what I think about that trope?
- 54:58I, I, I, I've heard this somewhere and like, I read
- 55:01something. I don't know what happened.
- 55:04I think that is a trope that will be used, but it's not the
- 55:07Jian, it's the Vandool. The Vandool.
- 55:11Keeps pushing it on their side. No, no, the Vandool keep pushing
- 55:16into human space because they are being pushed out of their
- 55:20territory and they can't defeat their enemy, but they can defeat
- 55:25humans. OK, because we're doing there's
- 55:29history again with the different tribes and yeah, right.
- 55:33So there's another species pushing them too, yeah.
- 55:36Well, you don't have to dig far into it.
- 55:38The vandool, right, are just the vandals.
- 55:42Vandals. Yeah, and the.
- 55:43Vandals are being. Out of their territory, yeah.
- 55:45They. Yeah.
- 55:46Which is why we're going to fall over home at some point.
- 55:48Why? I don't think we're ever going
- 55:49to see Earth, because it's going to be burned.
- 55:52You know what? Yeah.
- 55:54We'll see Earth in a it'll just be a.
- 55:56It'll be a video of it getting burnt to a cinder.
- 56:00It'll just be a bunch of bowling alleys.
- 56:03But I feel like it's gone already, right it?
- 56:06It needs to be the Borg. It needs to be something that
- 56:09will come into the system and will be a giant event because
- 56:14there's this huge ship and now everyone in Stanton or Pyro or
- 56:18Knicks or whatever needs to needs to like try to take it
- 56:22out. It's that big.
- 56:23You got Idris is going after it. You got, I would.
- 56:26Like it to be? How about an insectoid race?
- 56:32You know, we've got like wids we've got, you know, kind of
- 56:38turtle looking guys. We've got.
- 56:39Yeah, we're. Hanging on all the tropes we
- 56:41need. A.
- 56:42A sort. Of tall ladybugs.
- 56:44A swarm, a swarm of and that could be like once they
- 56:48introduce drone technology into the game with working drones,
- 56:51you know, that could be like the the hallmark of this insectoid
- 56:57species. Not, you know, we don't want to
- 56:59trample on Ender's Game too much, but.
- 57:03Oh, they already do. I mean, they got terminus in the
- 57:05in, in the thing already. Come on.
- 57:09I just think that would be cooler that I mean, I know you
- 57:11were just talking about having like a big, like the really big
- 57:13bad that we'd have to team up on.
- 57:16I definitely think something like that would be more
- 57:18interesting and also more cohesive with the game design
- 57:22than something like, you know, like a giant Borg cube or
- 57:26something like that. Yeah, like it sends down a bunch
- 57:29of ships to go attack the cities and you got to stop all of them
- 57:32and into the cities. And then once you stop all them,
- 57:36then the mothership or whatever is more vulnerable and you can
- 57:40hit it with interests and spend $36 million on torpedoes
- 57:43shooting at it. And then it glitches in 30 KS.
- 57:49Yeah. I mean, I've, I'm excited about
- 57:54all of these things. I'll tell you this right now, I
- 57:58love the sci-fi tropes. I love, I love the notion of it.
- 58:02The only the only sci-fi trope that I really don't like across
- 58:07all sci-fi is that everyone's a bipedal humanoid and Star
- 58:13Citizen's kind of doing that. Everyone's a bipedal.
- 58:16I want to see sebulbas. I want to see insectoids.
- 58:19I want to see you know those. Need to go Jim Henson with it.
- 58:23You know, like. Yeah.
- 58:24Yeah, different sizes here. I mean, the problem then,
- 58:28because I mean, so the problem is do you want all these
- 58:32different beings to be able to interact with the ships, right,
- 58:36'cause you, you know, they're trying to be very structured now
- 58:41in like getting around the ships, making sure that the
- 58:45metrics are right. So obviously, if you've got
- 58:47something that looks like Snuffleupagus, you're not going
- 58:50to give, you're not going to be able to give Snuffles a ride
- 58:52between, you know, Seraphim Station and, and Everest unless
- 58:57you've got. Put him in the cargo.
- 58:59Bay unless you got AC2 and he's going to fit in the cargo Bay.
- 59:03I mean, it would kind of make sense that for metabolic
- 59:05processes, the size of the creature and what would be
- 59:10realistic as far as a atmosphere that's capable of producing fire
- 59:15to understand the concept of chemical conversion and have
- 59:18gravity that is decent for that. We are kind of being near Earth.
- 59:22So I would I would expect whatever intelligent race to be
- 59:25out of there to be roughly human size.
- 59:31How awesome. Is it?
- 59:32Yeah, size is a different thing. So we do have another caller in
- 59:36the waiting room. Everybody, if everyone could
- 59:38just scoot down a little bit. The couch gets bigger on this
- 59:41show. We have.
- 59:44Is it pneumatic or what? Just don't stick your fingers
- 59:48between the cushions is all I'm going to say.
- 59:51For unrelated reasons. It's just totally just something
- 59:54else. But this, this guy, this guy,
- 59:57y'all may know him. He's been here since day one.
- 1:00:01He's been hanging out with us. I was, I was worried.
- 1:00:04I don't know why I was worried. I was like, man, I don't know if
- 1:00:07this guy's gonna make it, but here he is, my old man, my way.
- 1:00:15Everyone's favorite grandfather Wicket welcome.
- 1:00:20To the. Comms Radio, your Star Citizen
- 1:00:22call and show how you doing today Wicket?
- 1:00:26Dirty on it, citizen. 22nd time caller and I almost forgot
- 1:00:36today, but somebody gave me a gentle nudge.
- 1:00:44Very good. I was deep in the deep in the
- 1:00:46sand, man. Real deep.
- 1:00:50Dude, wild, wild. Just FYI, your audio keeps
- 1:00:54dropping out jar jars. Yeah.
- 1:00:59So I am in the midst of an insane storm.
- 1:01:04Right now. Oh yeah, it's wild out there.
- 1:01:06I don't know if it's yeah, hobo's right by me, so I don't
- 1:01:09know if that's what it is. Maybe, maybe, I don't know
- 1:01:13everybody. Else is coming through.
- 1:01:14Does it happen if I go like this?
- 1:01:16Does it? Does it like move away if I move
- 1:01:18I? Don't know when you when you
- 1:01:19pull me up, I turn the audio of the stream down South.
- 1:01:24OK, well, anyway, I'm here now. You're here now.
- 1:01:29Oh, you know what? You know what happened?
- 1:01:33Yeah. I muted myself on fucking OBS.
- 1:01:37I I muted on something I don't know how long.
- 1:01:42Oh, wow. I don't know how long I've been
- 1:01:45there. Good shit.
- 1:01:49Oh, you sound fine to me. No.
- 1:01:52I could hear everybody else, but then there'd be like a a hull
- 1:01:55and nobody was saying anything. It's like, jeez, that's an
- 1:01:58awkward silent break. Yeah, no, it mutes it.
- 1:02:01It, it'll record it. It'll be fine for the recorded
- 1:02:04version. It's just the live version I
- 1:02:06heard for. But it doesn't.
- 1:02:07You guys, it doesn't matter. There were people listening to
- 1:02:09this. Who's everybody else?
- 1:02:11They're going to hear me regardless.
- 1:02:13Wicket What's your favorite sci-fi trope you want to see in
- 1:02:16Star Citizen? I, I, I had to look and see what
- 1:02:21the question was today. I had to kind of formulate a
- 1:02:23quick answer, but something they could have mind that I really
- 1:02:26enjoy in a lot of novels. I read a lot of sci-fi books is
- 1:02:32the sub opera, the space opera aspect of of good sci-fi
- 1:02:37storytelling, you know, with reoccurring characters, record
- 1:02:42storylines that, you know, they may wane, but then they come
- 1:02:45back and they're re addressed. And this could all be done in
- 1:02:49like these open events that we have.
- 1:02:51You know, they started doing this a little bit.
- 1:02:53Ruina Dooley, she. Yeah, some familiar names aren't
- 1:02:58there. I thought it popped up recently.
- 1:03:00And then there's the the sales guy that that's popped in and
- 1:03:04out in marketing material. He's not really that much in the
- 1:03:08game. I forget his name but.
- 1:03:11I want to trade. Not not him the the the shoe
- 1:03:16man. I forget.
- 1:03:18He's like a car salesman, almost.
- 1:03:20Oh my. But in in any event, the other
- 1:03:25the other major trope that I really enjoy is this idea of the
- 1:03:30hidden enemy. The, the, the, the unknown
- 1:03:35secret, the hidden enemy, the, the unknown danger that, you
- 1:03:40know, we're in the midst of some cataclysmic knife edge that
- 1:03:45could go either way and we're not even aware of it.
- 1:03:48And then it's discovered. And then, you know, what do you
- 1:03:51do? Do you spill the beans to the
- 1:03:53rest of the society and put everybody in the in, in into an
- 1:03:58existential crisis? Or do you and your team just
- 1:04:02handle the business, your business?
- 1:04:04I don't know how that would translate into a game, but this
- 1:04:07is one of the these really fascinating story tropes that I
- 1:04:10really enjoy reading about a lot and where, and this could be
- 1:04:16with reoccurring characters. It could be like they don't talk
- 1:04:20about this at all. There's no Galactopedia about
- 1:04:23it. It's just some shit that we
- 1:04:25discover in game and it's not talked about.
- 1:04:27It's not IA C's. It's not that that that that
- 1:04:32dude that's been doing all the missions, he doesn't talk.
- 1:04:34Nobody talks about it. It's just something that we
- 1:04:36discover and that's like the best, you know, way of learning
- 1:04:42in game stuff by playing game. You know, you don't know,
- 1:04:47obviously everybody knows about it, but you know will be first
- 1:04:55group or it may be Nuggets of information or or gameplay.
- 1:05:00Oh yeah. That isn't that aware of, you
- 1:05:04know, people come, you guys wait a minute.
- 1:05:07That's gonna happen over here and you have to put the puzzle
- 1:05:11piece together to see the hole. And I don't know if that's that
- 1:05:15will ever be able to be translated into a game or the
- 1:05:18our citizen. But if anybody could do it, I
- 1:05:19think CIG might be the, the, the developer that could, that could
- 1:05:22bring that to be. It'd be really fun.
- 1:05:26Because when you're reading books like that, you, you, you
- 1:05:29really never know, you know, how things are going to turn out,
- 1:05:32especially when you're reading new novels, new authors, because
- 1:05:34you don't know, you know, there's no, there's not this
- 1:05:37idea of main character syndrome because of the main character
- 1:05:40can't be killed. But in, in a lot of novels, that
- 1:05:43happens all the time. Yeah.
- 1:05:47It's that elite excelled at. You really did feel like you're.
- 1:05:57Well, I never played Elite that much.
- 1:05:59I've tried playing a little bit, but it was just wasn't my, my,
- 1:06:02my bag. But I, I've read some of the
- 1:06:05narratives about Elite Dangerous and about the, the lot of
- 1:06:09discovery that had to happen before people realize what was
- 1:06:13going on. That's something that I hope we
- 1:06:15will see in Star Citizen. It'll be really fun.
- 1:06:21Just look at some of the stuff that you know, you could easily
- 1:06:24go online or play and and read about stuff or you can go in and
- 1:06:29play the PTU. This is one of the reasons I be
- 1:06:32playing. I, I don't even consider NPTU
- 1:06:34for anything because I want to go in and play the game that I
- 1:06:39mean, it's not in the game. It's it's an alpha state.
- 1:06:42I want to go in and and under discover it, learn what's going
- 1:06:46on. I want to just read about Oh,
- 1:06:48you need you need AB and C to succeed at this, this process of
- 1:06:53feeling these worms and getting these fangs and these pearls.
- 1:06:56Everybody can do that. Anybody is, you know, but if you
- 1:06:59go in and learn it all happening, that's where the fun
- 1:07:04is the. Solution to make it more random
- 1:07:07in I guess just situationally I'm think so follow me through
- 1:07:13this. What if you had just an enemy
- 1:07:15class? I know I mentioned before the
- 1:07:16little, you know, face huggers from Alien, what if you had that
- 1:07:23class only, but you took that class and maybe there's a bunch
- 1:07:26of different types that based on where you are, there's a certain
- 1:07:30chance of different attributes that these enemy classes could
- 1:07:32have. So maybe some goes some of those
- 1:07:35aliens. Maybe they just like your cargo
- 1:07:37and they eat like all organic cargo or they eat a particular
- 1:07:41metal or they hang around on your engine and suck your engine
- 1:07:46power or, you know, maybe they do go somewhere and lay eggs and
- 1:07:50produce more of them. And so I'm just thinking having
- 1:07:53all these like, or just like maybe one kind of that kind of
- 1:07:56enemy type roughly like this, like small little Crawley on the
- 1:07:59ground thing. I know it's infinitely more, you
- 1:08:03know, process than what I just said, but I just think that
- 1:08:07would give it 'cause you land on a planet and it's just another
- 1:08:10thing on top of the radiation, on top of everything else.
- 1:08:14It's like oh if you see a critter and then Oh my gosh I
- 1:08:18did see a critter but but bit me.
- 1:08:20But I don't want to let my crew know, otherwise they're going to
- 1:08:22kill me. And now you have like 6 people.
- 1:08:26Kind of really having. Them tab I would never kill you.
- 1:08:30I would. Just.
- 1:08:33Anubis. Anubis would and I, but I would
- 1:08:35be like Anubis to. Have all the shield goes down.
- 1:08:36I love it. Like you know you won't need to
- 1:08:38kill tab. I don't.
- 1:08:40Have someone else kill. You you're right.
- 1:08:41But the biggest problem with all this stuff nowadays is, you
- 1:08:46know, as gamers, we tend to optimize the fun out of out of
- 1:08:51all this stuff, you know, instead of learn by doing
- 1:08:57bailing, pick yourself up, start again.
- 1:09:00Everybody needs to know exactly what to do, when to do it, how
- 1:09:03to do it, where to do it. And you know, it's it's you have
- 1:09:07to play everything optimally and it just, it just becomes, OK,
- 1:09:13I'm following the steps. Adci need to be in this ship.
- 1:09:17I need to wear this armor. I need this gun.
- 1:09:21Oh, we need this many, you know, it's, it's just like, oh Jesus,
- 1:09:24man. I mean, I'm totally with you on
- 1:09:27that. Like, I don't, I don't want I,
- 1:09:31I'm, I don't want them to share everything in an ISC.
- 1:09:34Like, I just want to play the game.
- 1:09:35It's it's good. I want to figure things out.
- 1:09:38Yeah, it's lame. And then you do it.
- 1:09:41And then if you're. If you're with a group of people
- 1:09:44that have, they've all figured it out either through reading
- 1:09:47about it or PTU ING it or testing this, that and the other
- 1:09:51what works the best? You know, now you're holding
- 1:09:55them back because they're like the optimal squad.
- 1:09:58They know every corner and and nook and cranny, which you know,
- 1:10:02that's fine. But you know, if you're late to
- 1:10:05the party, then you know you're either holding them back or
- 1:10:08they're spoiling it for you. So I don't know how to fix that.
- 1:10:11But I guess that's it comes down to a single player.
- 1:10:16You have to do a single player thing or solo.
- 1:10:19You know, it it going back to the greatest MMO of all time,
- 1:10:25Star Wars Galaxies. They had a path to get to Jedi.
- 1:10:31Nobody knew. Yeah, this was the original path
- 1:10:34to Jedi, which if you became Jedi and you died, that's it.
- 1:10:38Your character can only come back as a ghost.
- 1:10:42There was like perma death. So like it was huge stakes to
- 1:10:45get up to this. But it was it was it was an
- 1:10:47amazing thing. But the steps to get to being
- 1:10:51recognized as Force sensitive and now going on the path and
- 1:10:54then how that path laid out was was kind of random.
- 1:11:00And so you had to work at it in certain ways by doing certain
- 1:11:05things like you can increase your chances, but it was pretty
- 1:11:08much random. So when we can have those kind
- 1:11:11of journeys here that like just crash course you through like
- 1:11:16maybe a profession path or something like that, you just
- 1:11:18end up finding yourself. You wanted to go be a minor man.
- 1:11:23I didn't realize I was going to be a, you know, a, a delivery
- 1:11:27person. Like that's what I my calling
- 1:11:29was, you know, but like, it took you down that path.
- 1:11:32Or a dancer. A dancer.
- 1:11:35A dancer. Remember Star Wars Galaxies?
- 1:11:39They have the dancers. Yeah.
- 1:11:40Talking about these a few weeks ago.
- 1:11:43They would buff you, they would view extra health, they'd give
- 1:11:45you extra speed, they'd give you all sorts of things, and you
- 1:11:48would pay them to dance field or you would pay doctors to buff
- 1:11:52you. There were reasons for every
- 1:11:56nonviolent profession to support, well, let's say the
- 1:12:01violent professions, but they all fed into each other.
- 1:12:04This applies went back and forth.
- 1:12:06Well, that's nice, but my point was was I kind of see you as a
- 1:12:10dancer. No, I'm human.
- 1:12:16Oh, is there gonna be human dancers?
- 1:12:20What are Kevin Bacon? It can only be one or the other.
- 1:12:23There's no dancing in this town. Only Twilight.
- 1:12:26For you as they don't. Only.
- 1:12:30Only twilights in women with three breasts can be dancers.
- 1:12:34Oh. Yeah, that's a deep cut.
- 1:12:37It it was established in the sun.
- 1:12:38Humans have no rhythm. It's not not white ones.
- 1:12:48A Sandorians do. Yeah, 'cause you're blue.
- 1:12:53Well, yeah. What's the thing in Star Trek?
- 1:12:56The Andorians? There's a blue guys and they
- 1:12:58have the the antenna. What's their like shtick?
- 1:13:03They come from a, They come from a like a, let's say like a
- 1:13:08Europa or. Planet.
- 1:13:09Yeah, it's like. Were were were they enslaved or
- 1:13:12something? Yeah, by Santa Claus.
- 1:13:14They were the original elves. They have a, they have a
- 1:13:18subspecies that's like albino and blinds and they were kind of
- 1:13:22looked down upon, but I don't think they were ever enslaved.
- 1:13:26Yeah, they weren't. They lived in underground
- 1:13:28cities. You're thinking of the Orion
- 1:13:30slave rules, which was. No.
- 1:13:33The anar. They're.
- 1:13:35Telepathic and blind and. They're all blind.
- 1:13:38No, I think. I think you're saying that the
- 1:13:40the slave thing was the the Orion's.
- 1:13:44Yeah, and that was air quotes Redcon.
- 1:13:49When was that redcon? In enterprise, when it's
- 1:13:53discovered that the females actually control the men with
- 1:13:57their. That was revealed to.
- 1:13:58Me. Oh nice.
- 1:13:59That was that was revealed in the original series as well.
- 1:14:02Look, I don't mind that. Put that in sources.
- 1:14:04I'm cool with that. I will.
- 1:14:06I'll be fine. I'll thrive.
- 1:14:09I'll thrive, dude, I'll be all right y'all.
- 1:14:12Y'all do you do you. I'm hanging out there.
- 1:14:15They're. Going to give you a little hat
- 1:14:17with a zipper in it. Well, I find it interesting that
- 1:14:21the Banu are slavers. Well, you know, 'cause they're,
- 1:14:26I mean, they're, they're essentially the Ferengi of Star
- 1:14:29Citizen, but they're more jovial 'cause you know, they'll,
- 1:14:35they'll buy and sell anything. Like they just, they just want
- 1:14:37to be buying and selling and making deals.
- 1:14:39And that includes slavery or I guess they're more indentured
- 1:14:44servitude. But they do, you know, there's,
- 1:14:47there's things in the there's things in the lore about them
- 1:14:52selling slaves to other species. So obviously they're doing that
- 1:14:57and they're not, you know, they're not particularly
- 1:14:59concerned about them being intentioned servants.
- 1:15:01They're straight up selling slaves.
- 1:15:03And it's they've mentioned humans a lot, which makes sense
- 1:15:08because in this universe, just like in many others, you know,
- 1:15:11humans are portrayed as those kind of like I said earlier, you
- 1:15:15know, they, we breed like rats. We just.
- 1:15:19Keep expanding, keep keep going to new planets and colonizing
- 1:15:24and spreading and expanding. So that's our great gift.
- 1:15:28Our great gift is is doing the deed and popping out babies.
- 1:15:33I mean hell, we don't even know how many point people are
- 1:15:36actually on this planet. It's supposed to be like 8.2
- 1:15:39billion, but it could be as much as almost 10.
- 1:15:42We don't know because we actually haven't done official
- 1:15:45censuses in parts of the world. Yeah.
- 1:15:50And in those parts of the world, there tend to be a lot of
- 1:15:51people. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:15:55Well, all I have to do is structurally birth rate.
- 1:15:57I mean, it's, it's not a, it's not a hard number, but.
- 1:16:00Nah, I mean that's how little metrics you can go by because
- 1:16:05there's not that much. Statistics.
- 1:16:08It's just statistics. You know, there's, this is the
- 1:16:10birth rate in this country, the average amount of people are
- 1:16:13here. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:16:15I mean. It's, it's just, you know, I
- 1:16:17think. We have a pretty good idea.
- 1:16:19But they are finding that they are finding that those models
- 1:16:23are falling short right now, which is which is the current
- 1:16:26issue that has popped up recently.
- 1:16:28About. They're actually finding that
- 1:16:31they're they don't actually have all the data to extrapolate in a
- 1:16:34correct manner and that it they we could be very underestimating
- 1:16:38at the moment. That's the thing about the lore,
- 1:16:40right? You look at a planet like Arc
- 1:16:44Arc Corp, it's covered in a city.
- 1:16:48There's got to be billions of human beings there, right?
- 1:16:51Yeah. I mean, otherwise it wouldn't
- 1:16:53make sense to expend the resources to do that in any way.
- 1:16:56So like, what, you know, what is the human population in the Star
- 1:17:00Citizen universe? It's got to be we.
- 1:17:04I would imagine we're going to be talking like close to a
- 1:17:06trillion. Remember, most of the planets
- 1:17:09are like what, 1/4 of the size is the real planets or even less
- 1:17:14than that? Yeah.
- 1:17:15Oh, you know what? I want to, I want to bring this
- 1:17:17up. So there's been talk about the
- 1:17:21planets. It's talk and I I expect some
- 1:17:24controversy here. Oh, they're whisked round.
- 1:17:28They're round. Yeah, so I heard they're flat.
- 1:17:31They bound. I heard.
- 1:17:34They're. Flat.
- 1:17:35They should be that able first. The planets in Star Citizen are
- 1:17:4020%. They're 1/5 the size of the
- 1:17:44planets in actual reality. How do you feel about the notion
- 1:17:52of increasing the planet size? I'll tell you all, I am 100% in
- 1:17:58favor of increasing the planet size with them.
- 1:18:02Half the size, 3/4 make them. I'd prefer them to be 1 to 1.
- 1:18:07I understand the limitations. I understand why that ought not
- 1:18:13to be done from a development perspective.
- 1:18:16Just finish the game. I get all that, but I feel like
- 1:18:19these planets look fucking small when I'm flying around them.
- 1:18:24They just feel small to me. They used to be bigger.
- 1:18:29Well, that's what she said. You.
- 1:18:32Wait, there was a downsizing of the planets?
- 1:18:35Yeah, they downsizing. I don't remember your end.
- 1:18:36Few years ago, yeah, it used to be bigger.
- 1:18:39They snuck that one in on me. I find I feel like I don't care
- 1:18:43unless making them bigger is going to improve gameplay in
- 1:18:48some way. I say make them smaller.
- 1:18:51This guy. The reason the.
- 1:18:53Reason is that guy the. The reason that they're too big
- 1:18:57now, because you hardly ever see anybody.
- 1:19:00It's either make keep them the same size and then, you know,
- 1:19:04increase the player population per Shard or whatever, because
- 1:19:08there's nothing going on, man. The the only time you ever the
- 1:19:11only time you ever see anybody is if you know you're you're
- 1:19:14you're going to these PO is basically the worm Shubin this,
- 1:19:20you know. Art.
- 1:19:21Land Plants. You're you're going to.
- 1:19:23That's what's going to change it.
- 1:19:24You're you're going station. Orbital marker, you're going,
- 1:19:27you know, that's the only time you see anybody.
- 1:19:29But if you're flying around, you rarely see anybody.
- 1:19:33Well, when you were, when we were getting all that cargo, the
- 1:19:37corundum and the copper and the Detroit light or whatever, and
- 1:19:42all that other garbage that made us hundreds of millions of of
- 1:19:45credits. I saw people everywhere and that
- 1:19:49was fun. The only place I saw.
- 1:19:51People were standing in in line at kiosks.
- 1:19:55I got pirated several times. I got boarded, I got knocked out
- 1:20:01and dragged out and thrown out into space.
- 1:20:04It was fun and I saw people. I mean, they got to make it
- 1:20:07attractive is the only thing. Just just make it an everyday
- 1:20:11attractive thing. Listen, I, I, you know,
- 1:20:15everybody knew where all the ice was.
- 1:20:17Everybody knew where. What was the other thing that we
- 1:20:19were hunting ice and. 10 it. Was correct 1010 maybe?
- 1:20:25No. No.
- 1:20:25No, no. The way you make.
- 1:20:26One, I think it was ice and 10. Yeah.
- 1:20:30That's that was the money maker. That other shit was this.
- 1:20:33That was a waste of time, but. Where the hell are they going to
- 1:20:37get ice from if not from space? Well, the there was only certain
- 1:20:42places where ice was very plentiful and and they were
- 1:20:45around. Air Los Angeles Ice They're
- 1:20:47plentiful in Los Angeles. I hardly ever saw.
- 1:20:51Anybody in my neck of the woods now?
- 1:20:53Then then on on the planets there was like, what was it,
- 1:20:56Pyro 4 or one of the moons had a bunch of tin on it.
- 1:21:00I saw the whole time we were we were going after that one night
- 1:21:05we saw somebody one night, another mole.
- 1:21:10I mean, it was, we saw, I don't know, it's very, it's very,
- 1:21:15yeah, very sparse. And I and I wouldn't expect to
- 1:21:18see a lot of people because you guys have no sense of scale when
- 1:21:24it comes to space. Space is.
- 1:21:27It's so big. It's ridiculous.
- 1:21:32So we make it bigger, I get it. We make the planets bigger.
- 1:21:35Got it. No, that's why I say make them
- 1:21:37smaller. So you have not played, you have
- 1:21:42not played elite much, have you? No.
- 1:21:46You never. See anybody there either?
- 1:21:48There are times where you're straight up flying for 1/2 hour
- 1:21:52an hour like it at full warp like it.
- 1:21:57It's that big. Yeah.
- 1:22:01You really don't see anybody, but if Star Citizen does, its
- 1:22:05regional shards. So you have the North America
- 1:22:08Shard and you have a couple thousand players with larger
- 1:22:14space and larger distances then it's worth it's worth it.
- 1:22:17And make sure there's like proximity chat instead of this
- 1:22:22global bullshit. I mean, we haven't seen an
- 1:22:27improvement in regards to servers for quite some time now,
- 1:22:32basically this whole year in January or so.
- 1:22:38Weren't all the people behind that technology?
- 1:22:39Didn't they all quit or get fired?
- 1:22:43What? Yeah, a few of the key guys did
- 1:22:48well, they didn't like quit angrily.
- 1:22:50They just. They were like, all right, I was
- 1:22:52hired to do this project and I'm done.
- 1:22:55So, you know, now I'm. They're not done.
- 1:22:59Yeah. But well, they accomplished the
- 1:23:01server meshing to the extent that they were hired to do and
- 1:23:04wanted to do. I mean, these guys were like,
- 1:23:07you know, programming rock stars.
- 1:23:09And they're like, all right, I did it.
- 1:23:10I'm off to do something else that interests me.
- 1:23:14You know, not that not everyone wants to work for CIG for their
- 1:23:17whole life. I know that sounds shocking, but
- 1:23:21it is true. I'm going to throw up the
- 1:23:24resume. Yeah, I don't want to say I'm
- 1:23:27not impressed with the server machine because I I am.
- 1:23:31I am a little impressed, but it's it's still short of what it
- 1:23:35needs to be. Yeah, compared to games like
- 1:23:39Planetside, I can see that you know when when you have the
- 1:23:43large scale battles. Yeah, like we need if if you're
- 1:23:49going to do the regional you. Know.
- 1:23:51Yeah, but the amounts or? Whatever.
- 1:23:53Space, the amount of structures, the amount of items that they're
- 1:23:58including in the serum meshing is orders of magnitude greater
- 1:24:02than than planetside. Yeah.
- 1:24:07But it's always. Been 20 years.
- 1:24:11Yeah, but I just, I always find it interesting people want to
- 1:24:13compare it to other things where you're like, it's, it's a
- 1:24:15totally different beast, the. Current.
- 1:24:18System. Seems to work well enough.
- 1:24:20The level of fidelity is a lot is is a lot higher than SC, but
- 1:24:25there's still, you know, there's still a ways to go.
- 1:24:28As you approach. In the center of Pyro, as you're
- 1:24:31going towards like the isn't there these server kind of
- 1:24:35hitches barriers as you kind of migrate through the?
- 1:24:39Yeah, they used to be a lot worse when they drop you out
- 1:24:41entirely, which thankfully they fixed that.
- 1:24:44But that means that means the systems connect, you know,
- 1:24:47theoretically working. That's, you know, it's almost a
- 1:24:49sub Shard, right? There are a subset of servers
- 1:24:51that could be running compartmentally these different
- 1:24:54hangers that spin up, everything spins up naturally and that
- 1:24:58would keep make it to where as you arrive, like if nobody else
- 1:25:02is there, if you might just get put in with somebody else,
- 1:25:05right? Instancing, Yeah, we need more
- 1:25:08of that. Any more?
- 1:25:09Instancing, I mean I, I mean, I, I guess I do compare it to
- 1:25:13Planetside in the fact that I do have faith that it can pull that
- 1:25:16off. It just needs ways to get people
- 1:25:20together once it does that. Well the best way to bring
- 1:25:28people together is make a make a rare resource that everybody
- 1:25:31wants to to use currency or use as fuel or use as crafting
- 1:25:38material. Give your give people a reason
- 1:25:40to fight over stuff and you you won't have a hard time finding
- 1:25:44people. But I would argue why.
- 1:25:47Why are we bringing people together?
- 1:25:50The game I I would like to see the game be able to stand on its
- 1:25:55own without other people. Evan why make an MMO?
- 1:25:59No. No, no, no, I'm saying you talk.
- 1:26:03It's always about. It's got to be these big events.
- 1:26:05It's got to be people fighting over this resource constantly.
- 1:26:09But if you can't choose to sometimes spend time on your own
- 1:26:13and have that be like a fun and rewarding experience, I I think
- 1:26:17that's a big weakness of the game as well.
- 1:26:19Well, I think that's one of the things that base building will
- 1:26:22really improve. 100% the the the the the game already strives at
- 1:26:27being alone. It works really well-being.
- 1:26:30Alone it works way better in a group.
- 1:26:33No it. Yeah, it does.
- 1:26:35I think you see all of these standbox.
- 1:26:37Activities. There's nothing to do by
- 1:26:39yourself. I disagree.
- 1:26:40I I think being alone is fine, but you do see a lot of people
- 1:26:43talking about that. Well, there's there's no
- 1:26:46personal growth, There's no, no wait, you've been playing a.
- 1:26:49Lot of Dune. And you've been playing a lot of
- 1:26:52Dune with with us. Like were you playing a lot of
- 1:26:56Dune on your own? For sure.
- 1:26:59And you said like the the story in Dune was the best.
- 1:27:03And now you have like a second character and you're doing that
- 1:27:06mostly by yourself. Like that's as you've put how
- 1:27:09many hours into that game mostly alone and star.
- 1:27:16Citizen I. Think whatever that was and is *
- 1:27:22citizen I think needs to replicate that.
- 1:27:25Kind of like if if I go into Star Citizen alone, I like to
- 1:27:30mine. I enjoy it but I'm not going to
- 1:27:33do it for like 2 hours because I don't have or like a goal to to
- 1:27:38work toward. All you can grind is money.
- 1:27:41All you can grind is money and then all you can buy with money
- 1:27:44or ships. And frankly, I bought the ships
- 1:27:47I want with my hard earned real world money so I don't need the
- 1:27:52money to for anything in Star Citizen.
- 1:27:55Literally. What if you fought for
- 1:27:57territory? What if you had the territory
- 1:28:01that you are fighting for? You turn Damar into Hurston
- 1:28:05territory or some bull crap like that.
- 1:28:07Like like you could fight for that and then they back your ass
- 1:28:11up. That's what we're saying, bro.
- 1:28:13The the point I was trying to make in Star Citizen is fine, is
- 1:28:17it works fine alone is on your own.
- 1:28:20And being alone is you don't have to participate in anything.
- 1:28:25You can just get in your ship, pick a direction, go that way,
- 1:28:30do whatever you want. Go to this area, go to this
- 1:28:34planet, mine this, participate in this, Don't participate in
- 1:28:38it. There's, there's, there's.
- 1:28:40I mean, it works just fine. You don't have to interact with
- 1:28:42anybody. Well, yeah, I mean, you don't
- 1:28:45even have to log into the game. You can just sit in front of
- 1:28:48your computer and stare at a black screen.
- 1:28:50Well, that's not the point I'm trying to make.
- 1:28:52As far as playing the game, you can choose to not participate in
- 1:28:56that. The reason I'm bringing it up to
- 1:28:58be you want to bring people together is because there's
- 1:29:02conflict and once there's conflict and, and there's a
- 1:29:05reason to have conflict, there's a reason to mine, there's a
- 1:29:09reason to get territory. You know, once that becomes part
- 1:29:12of the the experience there, I think there will be a lot more
- 1:29:17interaction between the players there.
- 1:29:19You know, there sides will be chosen or you can choose not to
- 1:29:23participate in that activity. You can just keep doing whatever
- 1:29:26you're doing and maybe a market will evolve and you can figure
- 1:29:31out a way to monetize your time in game if you want to, and, and
- 1:29:37sell your goods that you've mined or crafted or whatever.
- 1:29:40Or you can decide, oh, I really want to participate in this
- 1:29:43group activity to try to get the fangs, get the pearls, or maybe
- 1:29:48hold that territory. Because if I can hold that
- 1:29:51territory and defend it, there's a rare resource there that I
- 1:29:55need to extract from the ground and let my industrial players go
- 1:29:59in and do industrial gameplay while my more PvP focus players,
- 1:30:06whether it's FPS or ship combat, they're they're say satiating
- 1:30:12their need to play, play that type of gameplay.
- 1:30:15In other words, there's a role for everybody, but you have to
- 1:30:19have that. That conflict is the driver.
- 1:30:22And then and that's like that in a lot of Mmos, in a lot of
- 1:30:25games. But I would argue that the
- 1:30:27conflict is, you know, a conflict is part of it obviously
- 1:30:30is a big part, but more importantly, is that
- 1:30:33progression, right? Like if we're if we're fighting
- 1:30:36over resources, if we're fighting over, you know, special
- 1:30:39currencies and think, what's the point?
- 1:30:42Like there's gotta be some other way to progress.
- 1:30:44And I think that's what the promise of the base building, of
- 1:30:49the manufacturing and even of the, you know, the organization
- 1:30:55rewards and, and that sort of system, that's what that can
- 1:30:58really provide. Because like I, I'm a person.
- 1:31:02I, I don't know why I've participated in tons of worm
- 1:31:05hunts and, and other events and I pretty much never take the
- 1:31:10special currency. It's not, I'm just not
- 1:31:12interested because it's just, you just use it to buy a ship
- 1:31:16or, or a new vehicle. And I'm like, I mean, I, I can
- 1:31:19grind for that in some other way or, or I, I don't really need
- 1:31:22it, but if I could actually grind a Rep that persisted and
- 1:31:28really meant something, or if I could stockpile valuable
- 1:31:33resources with my org, which could then be shared towards,
- 1:31:38you know, building bases or getting special ships like that
- 1:31:41the whole org can use. Like that's something that is
- 1:31:45worth the time, that's worth the conflict.
- 1:31:48So like the conflict is good. The conflict in and of itself is
- 1:31:51is entertainment, but we need that progression to really lock
- 1:31:56people into it. Like you can hit a beacon that
- 1:31:59calls in a couple of those factions that you have really
- 1:32:02good Rep in and then they call, they call in some backup for you
- 1:32:06that. 'D be.
- 1:32:08Cool, Ellen's coming to help you, Anubis.
- 1:32:12I know. Frontier fighters, the, the, the
- 1:32:21one thing you know we're missing in, in Star Citizens, as far as
- 1:32:24Emma, you know, we don't have a, a skill system.
- 1:32:27You know, there's no skills to learn.
- 1:32:28There's no skills to grind it. Skill is an actual skill.
- 1:32:32You know how well you shoot in FPS, how well you fly or you
- 1:32:36know, and that that's earned through play.
- 1:32:39You know, the the more combat you do, the better you're going
- 1:32:41to probably get at it. I like that about it.
- 1:32:44A lot of people like that. About it Yeah of course but you
- 1:32:48know you're what you're describing is you know a Rep
- 1:32:50system that actually works or you know I'm I'm hoping what we
- 1:32:55don't get is like now we're getting all the script you know
- 1:32:58there's another currency that you know I I.
- 1:33:01Do not like that. I hate that myself, you know?
- 1:33:05It's just because, you know, it gets abandoned there.
- 1:33:07Like as soon as they bring out the new one, people abandon it
- 1:33:10and go to the new one. Well, part of that is again,
- 1:33:12because there's no real economy, there's no real progression.
- 1:33:17If there was, you know, people would still be doing Hathor like
- 1:33:19crazy, right? If if the Hathor gems or
- 1:33:22whatever really mattered, like if you could use that to produce
- 1:33:26you know what a much better power plant for your ship that
- 1:33:29they would always be a reason to go back.
- 1:33:31There. It wouldn't even have to be a a
- 1:33:33a much better power play, it would just have to be slightly
- 1:33:36better. Right.
- 1:33:38But right now it's abandoned. It's like, OK, I thought it was
- 1:33:40cool, but now there's something new.
- 1:33:42Now you go, it used to be you had to, you know, you had to
- 1:33:45bring a group like we're doing with the worm.
- 1:33:47Now it's possible to do Hathor solo.
- 1:33:51Not saying that's always the case, but it's possible now When
- 1:33:53before it was like, Nah, you you got to bring the org because if
- 1:33:58everyone's off to the the shiny and new.
- 1:34:00And I think, I mean, obviously they're not doing this on
- 1:34:02purpose to hurt themselves, but it definitely the lack of a
- 1:34:07progression, the lack of something else to pull all this
- 1:34:10into and connect it to definitely hurts their own their
- 1:34:15own efforts. You know, they put tons of
- 1:34:18effort into Hathor and it's cool as shit, but now it's they've
- 1:34:23got to produce something new. They got to keep people
- 1:34:25interested by just doing something new to push that
- 1:34:27conflict towards right to get people together and get
- 1:34:30something exciting happening. Whereas they'd be much better
- 1:34:34off if we just had an economy and something to sink all this
- 1:34:38into where it actually brought you back.
- 1:34:41Yeah, loops. Need half or mats for Wickelow.
- 1:34:45But Wickelow is not enough of a it's she's not enough of a
- 1:34:49progression. So it it's weak, it's weak.
- 1:34:57We have they fixed the exec hangers where the ships are now
- 1:35:00spawning with the correct parts or do they retroactively?
- 1:35:06Are they going to? Are they retroactively fixing
- 1:35:09the ships that were? Rewarding.
- 1:35:12I think I saw something that said that they were not going to
- 1:35:15because they didn't have a way to do that supposedly.
- 1:35:20I mean they only developed the game.
- 1:35:23I'm like, well, the ship is listed in my hangar as the
- 1:35:26whatever the the PY whatever Exec edition.
- 1:35:31Wouldn't it be easy to just let me just go in and let me
- 1:35:33translate this? Let me let me translate this for
- 1:35:37you. That would cost some development
- 1:35:39time, AKA money. So no, we're not going to be
- 1:35:42doing that. They're just running it through
- 1:35:45AI like everybody else is with programming nowadays.
- 1:35:49No one's no no one's wasting time.
- 1:35:51You crunch six months into a week now.
- 1:35:53That's why the patches are coming out so quick.
- 1:35:55They're just running it through AII.
- 1:35:57Mean. If you're not, if you're not,
- 1:35:59then you're in your mind, honestly.
- 1:36:05Scary thought. I'm and I'm legit, so I'm legit
- 1:36:09using AI and Tavis too. We're using AI and we have our
- 1:36:12own little projects, like little video game projects.
- 1:36:17There is a yeah, it is AI changed, sucks.
- 1:36:20AI cannot think let. Me tell you it's terrible.
- 1:36:23It cannot. It cannot think.
- 1:36:25It cannot identify a problem effectively.
- 1:36:30It cannot think about the possible issues with the own
- 1:36:35code that it's written itself. There's.
- 1:36:38Limitations. There's a.
- 1:36:40Lot of limitations. I've been learning how to use
- 1:36:44Unity with this project I'm doing that I'll announce when
- 1:36:47I'm ready to. But and I've been using AI to do
- 1:36:53the scripting, but an AI can write, it can write a script and
- 1:36:57the script can be, you know, functional and and good enough.
- 1:37:01But it it'll have some errors or this or that and it can't, it
- 1:37:07can't match what it's already written in the script with the
- 1:37:14steps that need to be taken in the Unity back end, the in the
- 1:37:19Unity system. So like it'll do something twice
- 1:37:24and it won't know that it did something twice.
- 1:37:28And then I'll be like why is this happening twice and it
- 1:37:30won't know and I'll have to figure it out.
- 1:37:33So I don't know what you're doing.
- 1:37:35Yeah, you. You have to, you have to have
- 1:37:37some idea of how the systems work and what they're doing to
- 1:37:41identify the problems. If you identify the problem and
- 1:37:45if the problem can be solved in scripting and then you say, hey,
- 1:37:50here's my problem, fix the script to solve this problem.
- 1:37:55AI it can do it. Chachi BT can do it.
- 1:37:58Maybe it'll do it in two times. Maybe it'll come up with an
- 1:38:01error at first, but it'll fix it and they'll do it much quicker
- 1:38:04than like a human being will be able to do it.
- 1:38:06So there is like a certain benefit there, but that's just
- 1:38:10because like it's a like it's a scripted thing.
- 1:38:14It knows how to read that language and it can do that over
- 1:38:17and over. It's not a thinking thing.
- 1:38:18It's a language learning model and it's learned the language of
- 1:38:23scripting. It's the same thing that if you
- 1:38:25asked it to write a sentence in German or in another language,
- 1:38:31it could just do it because it can translate the words, because
- 1:38:34it can just look the, it like knows the language instantly
- 1:38:37because it's a computer, right? And it can translate.
- 1:38:41That's kind of all it's doing. It's not like there's no
- 1:38:46thinking happening, not really. Instead of scouring forums,
- 1:38:51instead of trying to Google all these things and read through
- 1:38:55documentation that you've read through 15 times and it's still
- 1:38:59not explaining it properly, it just puts it all together and
- 1:39:04tells you how it works. And then, you know, maybe it's,
- 1:39:10I mean, it depends on the model. It works.
- 1:39:12Better models will tell you how it works.
- 1:39:14When I hear AI as, as it's being used in this context, all I hear
- 1:39:20is regurgitation engine because basically that's all it's doing.
- 1:39:24It's regurgitating a bunch of shit that it's found in the
- 1:39:27database that we call the Internet of, of or whatever
- 1:39:34access to the Internet it has. You know, at first I wouldn't
- 1:39:37let him on the Internet. Now they let him on the Internet
- 1:39:40these these regurgitation engines and basically it and it,
- 1:39:46it will also make the same mistakes people other people
- 1:39:49have made and have posted online and and you can see that
- 1:39:52sometimes in code, it writes code with errors in it because
- 1:39:56these are the examples it found that had these errors
- 1:39:59impregnated. Into them because I do I was
- 1:40:02like, I was like, how are you? How is this code have errors?
- 1:40:05When I first started using, I was like what?
- 1:40:07And then I realized like, oh, like, yeah, it's just like
- 1:40:09regurgitating stuff exactly what you're saying.
- 1:40:12So it's. Plagiarism machine.
- 1:40:14That's just what AI is these days.
- 1:40:16Well, when it comes to. Code, it's not a little bit
- 1:40:19more, it's not thinking about your instance, it's not thinking
- 1:40:23about all the all the different assets and variations.
- 1:40:26Yeah, it's not taking all of that into account many times.
- 1:40:30It's like. Doing what you specifically
- 1:40:33asked it to do, and it's forgotten about the larger
- 1:40:37picture. It's like, it's, it's like a
- 1:40:41it's like a search engine, just more advanced is really what it
- 1:40:44is. It's collating all the
- 1:40:46information and putting it together for you.
- 1:40:48Yeah. And it has diagnostic features
- 1:40:51because it knows how to read its own code.
- 1:40:54You could, you can have it review itself and things like
- 1:40:57that and run, you know, there are ways to, to work it a little
- 1:41:02bit better, but you have to know what you're doing.
- 1:41:05You still have to know about coding.
- 1:41:07But it's also one of those things where you know, you get
- 1:41:11error exception at XO 3 nines fee on memory block AO3, blah.
- 1:41:18You know, when you're, when you're compiling and, and, and
- 1:41:22you throw it in there and it tells you exactly what that
- 1:41:24means. It's not hours of trying to
- 1:41:25figure out what that meant. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:41:29I mean, I've had dozens of errors and it fixes them most of
- 1:41:34the time right away. But then there'll be some other
- 1:41:38issue that it, you know, in order to fix that error code, it
- 1:41:42messed something else up, right? I forgot.
- 1:41:46I forgot. I wanted everything to be blue
- 1:41:48still or something like. And in my field, in my field,
- 1:41:54it's like embedded systems, like it's essential, especially when
- 1:41:58you're working with like merging that software with the hardware
- 1:42:02and it helping you diagnose issues like, you know, the MCU
- 1:42:08not being able to keep up with certain serial outputs and
- 1:42:12things like that. You know, I mean it helps a lot.
- 1:42:17Yeah. Well, we've gotten far away from
- 1:42:20Star Citizen in this last 10 minutes.
- 1:42:23Always happens. I wonder.
- 1:42:25Why I don't I don't have an answer for you, I don't know.
- 1:42:32Because Star Citizen is what it is, man.
- 1:42:34It's, it's limited. It's very limited.
- 1:42:37It's very limited. It's very how dare.
- 1:42:39You. Yeah.
- 1:42:40Well, does it need more sand? It needs more lux as in crew
- 1:42:44flux. We can almost do a whole
- 1:42:46episode, I think, on maybe different ways to play the game
- 1:42:50that maybe we're not playing now like that.
- 1:42:53And I'm not talking like full role play.
- 1:42:55I mean, that could be I mean, obviously it's an option, but
- 1:42:58like there's other I think worth more role design, you know,
- 1:43:02define stuff. And I just think there's
- 1:43:05different modes. You know, I like the whole, you
- 1:43:09know, what is it the artifact hunts?
- 1:43:12I think that what is it Murphy used to do and stuff like that.
- 1:43:17Murphy's minerals, man, that's some of the most fun things we
- 1:43:20did back in the day when Murphy came up with these scenarios for
- 1:43:23us to, to, to role play and, and play along with.
- 1:43:27And, you know, he had scripted events that he put together.
- 1:43:31He had people helping it. I mean, it was great fun.
- 1:43:35You know where let's imagine having players like that are
- 1:43:40like MPCS, but they're actually being they're under control of
- 1:43:45of a player. And it was great because you had
- 1:43:48to interact with somebody and you know, everybody knew in the
- 1:43:53back and at the at the back end of it all, it was it was
- 1:43:57somebody we knew that was playing a scenario out.
- 1:44:00But it was. Just great, yeah.
- 1:44:03It was basically it was like a it was role play, but it wasn't
- 1:44:07hard role play, if you get what what I'm saying.
- 1:44:09You know, we not everybody didn't talk in a funny voice or
- 1:44:14in. Character.
- 1:44:15Why not? Why everyone wants to do funny
- 1:44:18voices? But.
- 1:44:21My boys ain't funny. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:44:24I'm tired. When eggs, yeah.
- 1:44:25I was born with this voice it. Could be something as simple as
- 1:44:31like. I'd love to to.
- 1:44:32Start like if I was doing it maybe an event that would be
- 1:44:37where everyone just mutes discord.
- 1:44:39Now that of course I say that now that I finally got my
- 1:44:41proximity chat working, but just to try to see a whole, you know,
- 1:44:46a whole set of missions or to kind of build ourselves and just
- 1:44:50see if we can make it all work. Then I'd have to set what my my
- 1:44:54button is for comms, yeah. Do you type in the party chat?
- 1:44:58The ship chat? Dune.
- 1:45:00Has has proximity voice and hardly anybody ever uses it.
- 1:45:07That's true. Well.
- 1:45:08That's what I'm saying. But we we're, you know, if one
- 1:45:10of the benefits of the community is you could try a fun,
- 1:45:13different styled event and see see how everybody likes it.
- 1:45:17I've tried it once before and I had a total blast with it.
- 1:45:20It's one of my favorite star Susan.
- 1:45:22Well, the The thing is, you got to have people's buying like if
- 1:45:25you want, if you want people like, if you want things like
- 1:45:28proximity voice comms to work, you need to get rid of text
- 1:45:33chat. That has to go away then people
- 1:45:36are forced to use in game voice. That's a good point.
- 1:45:41Get rid of global. Get rid of all text chat.
- 1:45:45If you want to write a text chat, you have to walk to a
- 1:45:47terminal. Write a message to somebody.
- 1:45:50It gets. Sent to them more role play.
- 1:45:52I mean, well, I'm that's if you want that, that's, you know, if
- 1:45:56there's other options. But there's no way they're going
- 1:45:59to get rid of text chat entirely.
- 1:46:02I know. Everyone is not everyone is
- 1:46:05going to use voice. That's.
- 1:46:06Like I, I understand that, but again, if you want people to
- 1:46:11participate in a, in a system, you have to kind of force the
- 1:46:15hand. Right.
- 1:46:17You don't think there's other ways to talk with the?
- 1:46:19Ship with the ship and. Those are mutes.
- 1:46:21That's what we call mutes. No, because they're going to
- 1:46:24wake up their mom or something and and and then they'll get in
- 1:46:28trouble so they can't do it. There's a lot of this.
- 1:46:31Sounds pretty personal, Anubis. If there, if there's a lot of
- 1:46:34people, there's not a lot of people who are going to wake up
- 1:46:36their mom playing Star Citizen. I'm going to tell you that right
- 1:46:38now. There's plenty of old dudes.
- 1:46:42It's like they don't want to wake up the wife with sleeping
- 1:46:45it's. There's a lot of reasons she
- 1:46:47wakes up, that's her. Fault of reasons.
- 1:46:51But it would be. Cool, I like.
- 1:46:52No, you're just. Making.
- 1:46:53Excuses. You're just you're.
- 1:46:55Just helping make the excuse of why not to use proximity chat.
- 1:46:59So why should we even develop it?
- 1:47:00So if you're just going to make excuses of why you don't want to
- 1:47:03use it. I'm saying they need to go the
- 1:47:05other way. They need to add player tags and
- 1:47:08clan tags, you know, onto people so you can actually see who the
- 1:47:12Hell's in front of you 6 feet away from you.
- 1:47:17Like who is that guy? I don't know who that is.
- 1:47:19Oh, I can invite him to be a friend.
- 1:47:22Joe. Wiggle arms, Joe Wiggle arms
- 1:47:25here with a cowboy hat. And that's that's the.
- 1:47:28Road where you go down to the Zergs, if everybody can identify
- 1:47:33yeah, if you if you can identify everybody, everybody just you
- 1:47:37know they're they're going to choose their color and their and
- 1:47:40they're going. To be part of that.
- 1:47:41Zerg, hell yeah. But if you do that.
- 1:47:45I don't do that. That's boring.
- 1:47:48Oh. I want to see like, oh shit, you
- 1:47:52know, like Grim Hex is like Red Scar territory or something like
- 1:47:55that. Like, like they're always
- 1:47:57hanging out there because you, you see them there.
- 1:48:00Why do we have to have the garbage place as always?
- 1:48:04Can we have some place nice? Hycotech no please.
- 1:48:09You know. No obituary.
- 1:48:15There's there's nowhere really nice in Star Citizen.
- 1:48:18That's a different. Microtek Microtek's gorgeous.
- 1:48:21Well, Orson's. Holy shit.
- 1:48:23Bro. Yeah, it's not.
- 1:48:24Snow. Orson's beautiful.
- 1:48:26Speaking of snow, we're getting dynamic snow.
- 1:48:31Are. We.
- 1:48:32Love it. Yeah, and 3.3.
- 1:48:36You should be slipping all around.
- 1:48:37It'd be awesome. And I pick it up, make snowball
- 1:48:40and throw it at you. 4.3. So that's a no.
- 1:48:45OK, so not dynamic. Oh, it's dynamic in the weather
- 1:48:51pattern, not being like a that weather pattern like the rain.
- 1:48:56We have blizzards or or unbelievable more intense
- 1:48:59weather. That'd be cool.
- 1:49:00The Inuit, however, like this opportunity snow, that's
- 1:49:06dynamic, bro. The Inuit, the Eskimo, but that
- 1:49:10you're not supposed to say that anymore.
- 1:49:12It's Inuit and where. Does the word Eskimo come from?
- 1:49:18Probably a candy bar or something, I don't know.
- 1:49:21You mean the ice cream? Something like that.
- 1:49:26It's a white. It was a, it was a bunch of
- 1:49:27white people made it up for sure.
- 1:49:31Eskimo. So we get snow.
- 1:49:34Is this next one? Was this the the ladder?
- 1:49:36I saw this little video on the ladder and I was like well all.
- 1:49:40Oh yeah, the the dynamic ladder, the.
- 1:49:43Ladder V2. Can I tell you about ladder V2?
- 1:49:46I was playing Call of Duty the other day.
- 1:49:48I also have ladder V2 in Call of Duty.
- 1:49:52I don't want to, you know, I don't want to like.
- 1:49:55Those spaceships in Call of Duty.
- 1:49:57So we get ladder V2 now and starts.
- 1:50:00Yeah, yeah, it's true. It's true.
- 1:50:01I like, I understand it, but it's it's like cool, neat.
- 1:50:07Yeah, like, like they should have that.
- 1:50:09They should have like you can run down to a battlefield and
- 1:50:11register for like the standings and people can see who the top
- 1:50:15dog in the battlefield ride is. You know, is right now, like, I
- 1:50:21don't know, there's yeah game. What are you talking about,
- 1:50:27Anubis? So.
- 1:50:31Ways to get people involved. Eskimo means snowshoe netter or
- 1:50:36one who who Nets snowshoes. But who Nets snowshoes?
- 1:50:42That's the that that was a a, a native word in a, in a certain
- 1:50:47in the Inuit. There you go.
- 1:50:50And it the the the the French first started using it, so
- 1:50:54supposedly. I saw some French guy was
- 1:50:57hanging out with an Inuit guy and the Inuit guy pointed out
- 1:51:01one of them and said Eskimo and that guy was knitting snowshoes.
- 1:51:05And the French guy didn't make the connection that it was just
- 1:51:09the dude knit in the snowshoes. He was like, oh, they're all
- 1:51:11Eskimo. He started using it.
- 1:51:16Same same thing happened with oatmeal.
- 1:51:21Think Duke's gonna drop, but thanks for stopping by, dude.
- 1:51:25Yeah. Thanks guys.
- 1:51:27Oh dude, we're leaving. Always good to have.

- 1:51:54We normally, I normally cut it at an hour and a half.
- 1:51:57I just I've had enough. Just rolling.
- 1:52:01But it's. Curious after a while.
- 1:52:03Well, we've, we've, we've touched a lot of ground, you
- 1:52:08know, but no grass. But no grass.
- 1:52:13Well done, Anubis. That's good.
- 1:52:18Yeah, if you, if you guys feel like, if you feel like this is
- 1:52:22it. I mean, it wants Duke leaves.
- 1:52:26I mean, we can, I mean, if, if we're coming up on our longest
- 1:52:29episode, I mean, is this an appropriate time to trying to
- 1:52:34think if there's anything else, you know?
- 1:52:35Well, have we rarely do what's appropriate.
- 1:52:39This is. Clearly.
- 1:52:42We can touch on paleo anthropology again.
- 1:52:45Oh, I have a degree in that. But we will stop with this for
- 1:52:48now. We we will end the show today.
- 1:52:53We have fun stuff and let's let's start with the the next.
