- 0:03Speaker 1: Wake up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Next
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Good morning. Welcome to
- 0:13Speaker 1: the middle of the week. Yes, so we are halfway there.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We still got your treats coming your way, including 4
- 0:20Speaker 1: passes to go to the Museum of Ice Cream just
- 0:23Speaker 1: to unwind and enjoy unlimited servings of ice cream. Stay tuned.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Singapore's number one hit music station.
- 0:32Speaker 1: So be on standby for that. Um, I just went
- 0:35Speaker 1: to get my coffee fixed, but I honestly don't think
- 0:37Speaker 1: that I should be drinking too much coffee, Joe, because yesterday,
- 0:41Speaker 1: while you were not here, I think I ate something
- 0:44Speaker 1: wrong for breakfast. I had the worst, and I swear
- 0:48Speaker 1: I've never experienced this before, OK. The worst food poisoning
- 0:52Speaker 1: at like 7 a.m. in the morning. 7 a.m. it started, OK,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and um,
- 0:58Speaker 1: I don't know whether you could tell on air that
- 1:00Speaker 1: I was off or not doing good, but I was
- 1:04Speaker 1: trying to be normal, on air, trying to be normal.
- 1:07Speaker 1: So do you know what it was that you consumed?
- 1:10Speaker 1: I already know. So, uh, the day before I ordered
- 1:14Speaker 1: this kimbab, like it's a kimbab roll, OK, and I
- 1:18Speaker 1: think there might have been cheese added in it.
- 1:21Speaker 1: In the kimbab roll, which is a popular choice for,
- 1:24Speaker 1: you know, Korean food, right? But I think maybe on
- 1:27Speaker 1: my way here or something, perhaps I didn't store it
- 1:29Speaker 1: well or maybe it just went bad. I don't know.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But that was the only thing I ate, so that
- 1:33Speaker 1: has to be it. So the cheese. I think so.
- 1:36Speaker 1: It was like almost an immediate reaction, which is not
- 1:39Speaker 1: something I experienced before either, so.
- 1:41Speaker 1: That was my Tuesday morning. Are you OK? Are you
- 1:45Speaker 1: in good? I'm, I wouldn't say I'm in good condition.
- 1:49Speaker 1: I had worked last night, so I wouldn't say I'm
- 1:51Speaker 1: in the best condition, um, but I, I don't know, man.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I might want to order some soup or something hot or.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Porridge or something in a porridge is a good option. Yeah,
- 2:03Speaker 1: and let's make sure it's clean and prepared well. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and also my mom made porridge and sent it to
- 2:07Speaker 1: me yesterday, but yeah, I finished it already, so this
- 2:10Speaker 1: morning I think I'll have to order something. OK. I mean,
- 2:13Speaker 1: at least, at least you're right because the one that
- 2:16Speaker 1: I had sometime in late June. I remember this, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: your protein shake or something, milk. Yeah, yeah, that one's protein.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Milk is a weird concept. Again, I feel maybe they
- 2:28Speaker 1: didn't store it properly. Yeah, for sure, it's always a
- 2:30Speaker 1: storage and the milk went bad and they put it
- 2:32Speaker 1: in the fridge fridge without me knowing. So I bought it,
- 2:35Speaker 1: drank it, boom, knocked out for two days. Oh my gosh,
- 2:38Speaker 1: was it 2 days? It was 2 days. Yeah, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: was so hungry but I couldn't eat and I, you know, OK, no, no,
- 2:45Speaker 1: we don't need to hear that. Yeah. Ellen Walker, Emerson Flora,
- 2:48Speaker 1: Monster right here.
- 2:50Speaker 1: 7 newly engaged Alan Walker actually. Oh wow, yeah, he
- 2:54Speaker 1: just posted like over the F1 weekend. Can you imagine this?
- 2:57Speaker 1: 10 years ago he was here in Singapore when Faded
- 2:59Speaker 1: was all the rage on 987 2016 and he was
- 3:03Speaker 1: spinning for Zuk Out and I remember this. I was
- 3:06Speaker 1: at the pizza place quite near W Hotel at Sentosa
- 3:10Speaker 1: quayside aisle, and I was having my pizza and I
- 3:14Speaker 1: actually saw Alan Walker.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Without his mask, walked past. Walker walked past, and I
- 3:20Speaker 1: went to him saying, oh my God, Alan, I'm just
- 3:22Speaker 1: going to keep it very quiet, but can I please
- 3:24Speaker 1: get a picture with you and are you OK if
- 3:26Speaker 1: I do one without your mask? And he goes, firstly,
- 3:29Speaker 1: I'm very surprised you recognize me and sure, brother. Actually,
- 3:32Speaker 1: he's one of the, the DJs that even though he
- 3:34Speaker 1: started off wearing the mask, which I think he was
- 3:36Speaker 1: one of the first ones that started to do that, right, um,
- 3:39Speaker 1: he doesn't mind showing his face.
- 3:41Speaker 1: On the other hand, um, there are other DJs like,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I don't know if you're familiar with I Hate Models
- 3:46Speaker 1: and even Marshmallow. Um, I don't know whether we know
- 3:50Speaker 1: or there's access to pictures of their face till now. Yeah, actually, yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 1: People are still speculating on who Marshmallow. So on the
- 3:57Speaker 1: topic about famous DJs, we had them for Formula One,
- 4:00Speaker 1: the likes of Diplo Yon from Girls' Generation, hopefully I'm
- 4:05Speaker 1: getting her name right.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And you know, Formula One attracts all sorts of people.
- 4:10Speaker 1: They want to go for either the race or they
- 4:12Speaker 1: want to go for the concert. I mean, we've read
- 4:14Speaker 1: about all the COI happenings by the fans, but unfortunately
- 4:18Speaker 1: for one man, a 39 year old man, he was
- 4:22Speaker 1: charged on Saturday trying to do what? Yeah, and I'm
- 4:25Speaker 1: very surprised this is still happening and people are attempting this,
- 4:29Speaker 1: stealing something. No, using fake tickets to get into Formula One.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Let's do a thing. Yeah, you get caught, man. So I,
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'm reading the news. Apparently he entered the event area
- 4:42Speaker 1: despite having an invalid ticket, and then he entered a
- 4:46Speaker 1: restricted area meant for F1 Singapore Grand Prix staff and
- 4:50Speaker 1: performing artists. So I think it's the letter that got
- 4:54Speaker 1: him in trouble. So, OK, so I was half right.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Like he, he did almost attempt to pose as someone
- 5:00Speaker 1: working there in a way or he wanted to go
- 5:02Speaker 1: and see.
- 5:02Speaker 1: The celebrities and all that backstage. So, OK, not to
- 5:06Speaker 1: encourage crime, but if he just got in and he
- 5:10Speaker 1: was able to walk around the area and blend in,
- 5:12Speaker 1: you should have just stayed doing that and not go
- 5:15Speaker 1: to the restricted areas. I think people get ambitious like
- 5:18Speaker 1: when they realize, oh, this works. Yeah, so I should
- 5:22Speaker 1: try the next thing, yeah. The police were called in,
- 5:24Speaker 1: able to locate him and arrested him, I think could
- 5:28Speaker 1: have been. I think this has traditionally.
- 5:30Speaker 1: This has happened before. Yeah, like in the past. I
- 5:33Speaker 1: know people who have, you know, had fake tickets or
- 5:35Speaker 1: some people have been victims of fake tickets back then
- 5:38Speaker 1: as well. Yeah. So according to our friends over at
- 5:40Speaker 1: CNA for each count of criminal trespass, he could be
- 5:44Speaker 1: jailed up to 3 months or fined up to 1500
- 5:48Speaker 1: or worse, not worth it at all, bro. Yeah. I mean,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I hope he learns his lesson from this. Just, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 1: do it the right way. I just want to very
- 5:55Speaker 1: quickly share that both of us are having breakfast in
- 5:57Speaker 1: the studio.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yes, and it's been a while since I had. In fact,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I don't recall you ever ordering with me, yeah, because
- 6:06Speaker 1: I used to order like tom yumm and all that,
- 6:08Speaker 1: and you never tag on with the order. I mean,
- 6:10Speaker 1: tom min in the morning for me is a bit
- 6:12Speaker 1: of a stretch. OK, OK. I'm definitely not having that
- 6:15Speaker 1: after yesterday's incident with my stomach, so, but wow, this
- 6:18Speaker 1: is the best bowl of meekui I've had in my life.
- 6:21Speaker 1: It's so good, delicious, right? Yeah, um, this is not
- 6:24Speaker 1: a paid post at all, but shout out to Fong.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I love Fong Hub, honestly, you can order anytime, like
- 6:30Speaker 1: even late at night. Over at Brickworks Estate. If you're
- 6:33Speaker 1: tuned in, thank you very much. The order was. Yes,
- 6:36Speaker 1: I had a porridge. I'll be having porridge for the
- 6:38Speaker 1: next few days. Thanks to my stomach problems. Anyway, um,
- 6:43Speaker 1: like I mentioned earlier and I asked you, have you
- 6:44Speaker 1: ever received something that wasn't meant for you? A woman
- 6:49Speaker 1: in her sixties here in Singapore has received at least
- 6:52Speaker 1: 19 parking-related fines.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Despite neither owning nor driving a car. Wait.
- 7:02Speaker 1: If you're getting fined once or twice, chances are maybe
- 7:05Speaker 1: you learn your lesson, right? 19 times. So that's the
- 7:10Speaker 1: mystery is that she doesn't even own a car and
- 7:12Speaker 1: she can't drive either.
- 7:14Speaker 1: So her husband came out to say that um his
- 7:16Speaker 1: wife had been receiving these fines addressed to her from
- 7:20Speaker 1: um HDB actually for illegal parking since September of last year.
- 7:24Speaker 1: So the fines accumulated to an amount of like almost
- 7:26Speaker 1: 1.4K but none of them, neither husband or wife or
- 7:30Speaker 1: their kids own a car. So they're like, where did
- 7:33Speaker 1: this mysterious car come from?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Um, according to the parking fines, the vehicle involved, uh,
- 7:38Speaker 1: bears the license number plate 7965Y, OK, and it's out
- 7:42Speaker 1: there already, so it's not a PDPA situation, but, um,
- 7:46Speaker 1: in the most recent case, it was ticketed for parking
- 7:48Speaker 1: offense in March of this year, and they've accumulated more
- 7:52Speaker 1: than 50 reminder notices. So,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on. They've contacted the authorities.
- 7:58Speaker 1: They're looking into it right now and they've clarified that
- 8:01Speaker 1: we are not the owner of this vehicle. There must
- 8:03Speaker 1: be a mistake. Could it be a case of the
- 8:05Speaker 1: lady might have lost her IC before?
- 8:09Speaker 1: And then someone, someone used it to register and again,
- 8:14Speaker 1: I'm not speculating anything. Maybe the license plate could be
- 8:18Speaker 1: a bogus license plate, like a syndicate. This is the
- 8:21Speaker 1: start of like a bigger mystery. You never know. Yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 1: or a bigger crime. I don't know, but I believe
- 8:27Speaker 1: that the authorities are working on it and they've actually
- 8:29Speaker 1: reached out to say that please disregard the fines and
- 8:32Speaker 1: summons and you don't need to come to the court
- 8:34Speaker 1: hearings because they proved that they're not the owner.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Well done. But um, you see, that's the thing, the
- 8:40Speaker 1: mystery continues. Like we don't have the answers to it
- 8:43Speaker 1: just yet. Now I'm very invested. Now, I'm pretty sure
- 8:46Speaker 1: our boys over at the SPF and our our people
- 8:52Speaker 1: serving the SPF will be looking into this case and
- 8:53Speaker 1: finding out the true criminals and the true culprits in
- 8:56Speaker 1: just a while. We're definitely waiting for that for sure.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I'm very sure our preschool teachers, they are stretched.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I mean, they are working long hours, they are making
- 9:08Speaker 1: sure kids are OK, kids are having their nap time,
- 9:11Speaker 1: kids are well behaved, and then we got time to
- 9:15Speaker 1: plan all the lesson plans and engage parents because once
- 9:18Speaker 1: they end their day, I mean, if they have families
- 9:22Speaker 1: of their own or a life of their own, of course,
- 9:24Speaker 1: they want to just unwind from work and do things, right?
- 9:27Speaker 1: it's a lot of responsibility.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Most of the time, no matter which industry you're in,
- 9:32Speaker 1: you don't want to bring work home. Yeah, you want
- 9:34Speaker 1: home to be a home, right? And this is why
- 9:37Speaker 1: according to our friends over at CNA, according to a
- 9:39Speaker 1: press release, from November 2027, all ECDA licensed preschools must
- 9:47Speaker 1: provide eligible full-time certified preschool educators with at least two hours.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Of non-contact time per week. Wow, OK. That means during
- 9:58Speaker 1: the work hours itself, you can split it up between
- 10:02Speaker 1: 2 days, 1 hour, 1 hour each, where you have
- 10:04Speaker 1: 1 hour to actually be away from work but still
- 10:07Speaker 1: at work to plan lesson plans, respond to parents. So
- 10:11Speaker 1: can you put your status on your chat as like,
- 10:13Speaker 1: you know, chat you're using, whatever platform you're using, you
- 10:16Speaker 1: can put your status as what what is it again?
- 10:19Speaker 1: What's the term again? Uh, non-contact. NCT I'm on my
- 10:24Speaker 1: NCT now or something. Could also be a K-pop band,
- 10:28Speaker 1: that's true, yeah, yeah, so they can also use that
- 10:30Speaker 1: time to prepare teaching materials and maybe say document the
- 10:33Speaker 1: child's progress in class and all without having to bring
- 10:36Speaker 1: it home or spend more time working to do all
- 10:39Speaker 1: these after work ends, yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 1: But realistically, you know, a big portion of us will
- 10:45Speaker 1: still end up having to do some work even when
- 10:47Speaker 1: we're at home, which, OK, I don't mind as long
- 10:50Speaker 1: as it's not like an unreasonable hour that you're contacting
- 10:54Speaker 1: me and you know, and I, I put my phone
- 10:56Speaker 1: to like a D&D, OK, yeah, at a certain time
- 10:59Speaker 1: and maybe even if Microsoft Teams on D&D as well
- 11:03Speaker 1: to just take a short break.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Again, for non-contact time NCT. It's a welcome move. Hopefully,
- 11:09Speaker 1: it reduces the burnout for our preschool teachers who are
- 11:12Speaker 1: doing a lot, by the way. We're sending you love, honestly, educators, teachers,
- 11:17Speaker 1: everyone else in the service sector, we appreciate you. Seems
- 11:20Speaker 1: like um this new conversation has sparked off on social
- 11:23Speaker 1: media with a lot of split views right now.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I'm sure that you have noticed by now that over
- 11:29Speaker 1: at Changi Airport, we have fully carpeted floors, especially on
- 11:33Speaker 1: the inside, you know, the departure area and the arrival
- 11:36Speaker 1: area and all that. So even though it's the world's
- 11:38Speaker 1: busiest airport, is it still the world's busiest airport should be,
- 11:42Speaker 1: it's also the world's quietest airport where you won't hear
- 11:46Speaker 1: that much footsteps, the trolleys and all that. That is
- 11:50Speaker 1: the whole point of having carpeted floors in the first place.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I never knew how much I appreciated it until I
- 11:56Speaker 1: went overseas, and most of them don't have carpeted floors,
- 11:59Speaker 1: and it's so overwhelming and it's so noisy, and you know,
- 12:02Speaker 1: you hear people's luggages screeching, um, you know, rolling, really
- 12:07Speaker 1: loud sounds all around. So I was quite appreciative of
- 12:10Speaker 1: the fact that we have carpeted floors. However, I do
- 12:13Speaker 1: acknowledge that it's quite difficult to push your luggage across
- 12:17Speaker 1: the carpet sometimes. Do you agree? Sometimes.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Depends. I think your, your large luggage, you're talking about
- 12:24Speaker 1: that in general, just everything is a bit, it takes
- 12:28Speaker 1: a bit more effort to roll across the carpet. That's a,
- 12:30Speaker 1: it's a fact. Yeah, so I'll just check my wheels
- 12:32Speaker 1: to make sure it's working fine and it's, no, no, no,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I don't think it's anything got to do with your
- 12:36Speaker 1: wheels being damaged. I just think that if you have
- 12:39Speaker 1: a carpeted floor or any surface that is not smooth,
- 12:43Speaker 1: obviously there's gonna be more friction. This is a fact, yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I, I never had that issue. Maybe
- 12:50Speaker 1: because you la. That's why he uses luggage.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Hello, you also got removal back, yeah. I don't actually.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I use Samsonite. Samsonite, OK, but I think what I
- 13:01Speaker 1: do is I usually just put it on the trolley,
- 13:03Speaker 1: then I instantly check it in and I'm done. OK,
- 13:06Speaker 1: so you don't have like uh cabin luggage. No, no, no. Oh,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I kind of in a cabin. So, um, there was, uh,
- 13:14Speaker 1: there was a post that went up, um, about someone
- 13:17Speaker 1: being rather unhappy.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Happy with the fact that someone decided to put carpets
- 13:22Speaker 1: in our, you know, uh, in Changi Airport, and um,
- 13:25Speaker 1: I wouldn't read it out word for word because it's
- 13:28Speaker 1: not appropriate for on-airs, but it has sparked off a
- 13:34Speaker 1: whole conversation of whether or not having carpeted floors is
- 13:38Speaker 1: a good idea at an airport.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I don't know. I, I appreciate Changi Airport for the
- 13:43Speaker 1: way it is. Me too, me too. And it's really,
- 13:46Speaker 1: it really brings down the noise decibel level. I feel
- 13:49Speaker 1: like it elevates the whole experience. That's the, that's the
- 13:53Speaker 1: main point. And it's one of the beauties of Changi
- 13:56Speaker 1: Airport as well. And naturally, you know, um, Singaporeans got
- 13:59Speaker 1: a little bit defensive as well in the, in the
- 14:02Speaker 1: replies and in the comment section.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Rightfully so. I think the intention is there, the intention
- 14:07Speaker 1: is there. So I, I mean, this person goes on
- 14:11Speaker 1: to list all sorts of other encounters that she faced
- 14:15Speaker 1: over at Changi Airport, but the whole debate is started
- 14:18Speaker 1: by the carpet at Singapore Airport, Singapore's Changi Airport. Yeah, exactly. OK,
- 14:23Speaker 1: so we want to open up lines right now, 669-11987
- 14:26Speaker 1: or you can drop us a message 90050987.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Do you personally like the fact that we have carpeted
- 14:34Speaker 1: floors at Changi Airport, or do you find it kind
- 14:37Speaker 1: of irritating or a hassle because it's very hard to
- 14:39Speaker 1: roll your luggage across? You can be anonymous if you
- 14:42Speaker 1: want to. Give us your thoughts and we'll let you
- 14:45Speaker 1: win a fantastic.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Prize here on 987-669-11987. Call us or you can WhatsApp
- 14:51Speaker 1: us at 90050987. The carpeted floors over at Changi Airport, always,
- 14:57Speaker 1: always a cause of contention. I feel like either you
- 15:00Speaker 1: love it or hate it. And like I mentioned earlier, yes,
- 15:03Speaker 1: it can take extra effort to roll your luggage across
- 15:06Speaker 1: any floor that has more friction, which has a surface,
- 15:09Speaker 1: you know, like AKA the carpet.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But at the same time, we appreciate the silence. Yes, right?
- 15:14Speaker 1: It reduces noise, the squeaking of the shoes, or even
- 15:19Speaker 1: the sound of heels whatsoever. And yeah, even though it's
- 15:22Speaker 1: the world's busiest airport, it could be the world's quietest,
- 15:26Speaker 1: open inverted commas as well. Want to say good morning
- 15:29Speaker 1: to Augustin. Augustin says, Hey guys, I support the idea
- 15:32Speaker 1: of carpet flooring in the airport, though I seldom travel,
- 15:35Speaker 1: and when I do, it was with family.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Not lugging one but two cabin luggage. I don't feel
- 15:41Speaker 1: like it's a hassle to do it. Personally, I feel
- 15:43Speaker 1: it's a more positive experience than negative. Not saying it's
- 15:47Speaker 1: not an idea, but it actually provides a nice sleeping
- 15:50Speaker 1: area for people waiting for their flights, but actually I've
- 15:53Speaker 1: seen it. Yeah, yeah, especially if they layovers. Ramesh says,
- 15:58Speaker 1: I actually noticed this particularly at Changi Airport Terminal 2
- 16:01Speaker 1: departure area, especially after the airside upgrading works. The carpets.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Is it noticeably harder to push luggage trolleys, particularly when
- 16:10Speaker 1: they're heavy. Interestingly, I don't experience the same issue at
- 16:13Speaker 1: T1 or T3. Somehow I feel my trolleys move more
- 16:16Speaker 1: smoothly there. I recall this being discussed too on LinkedIn
- 16:20Speaker 1: about a year ago. It's not a new observation, but
- 16:23Speaker 1: for an airport that prides itself on world-class passenger experience,
- 16:26Speaker 1: it is a basic design and usability issue that should
- 16:28Speaker 1: have been addressed. It's a small detail, but one that
- 16:31Speaker 1: could make a real difference to travelers. So he is
- 16:34Speaker 1: Saying that there is a difference between the difficulty level
- 16:38Speaker 1: in pushing your luggage in different terminals. OK, so is
- 16:42Speaker 1: very difficult. Terminal 1 and 3 is OK. Terminal 4.
- 16:45Speaker 1: So I guess I want to say good morning to Sham.
- 16:47Speaker 1: One more text before I take a quick music break.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Morning guys. I love the airport. The sound dampening is amazing.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It's so calming, especially for someone who has a fear
- 16:56Speaker 1: of flying. The calmness really helps. Heck, if I could,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I'd set up an inflatable mattress and just go and
- 17:02Speaker 1: sleep there.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it's quiet enough to do that, I guess, you know. Anyway, um,
- 17:07Speaker 1: we're gonna get to some of your calls and more
- 17:09Speaker 1: of your messages in just a bit. Still time for
- 17:11Speaker 1: you to contribute your stories, by the way. How do
- 17:13Speaker 1: you feel about having carpeted floors at Changi Airport? Do
- 17:16Speaker 1: you love it or hate it? We're down to more
- 17:18Speaker 1: messages before we get to your calls here today talking
- 17:21Speaker 1: about whether you love or hate the carpeted floors at
- 17:24Speaker 1: Changi Airport. I think today we have activated the Changi
- 17:27Speaker 1: Airport Defense Force. Here we go.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Everybody's coming to defend our airport. I want to say
- 17:32Speaker 1: good morning to T. T says, Hello, Sokim. For a start,
- 17:36Speaker 1: only the area past immigration is carpeted, and you are
- 17:39Speaker 1: not expected to have big luggage there anyway. So not
- 17:43Speaker 1: sure what the person was going on about, and I've
- 17:45Speaker 1: been to more than 50 airports in my life so far,
- 17:48Speaker 1: and I challenge anyone to say that there is a
- 17:51Speaker 1: better airport than Changi. Uh, I mean, I agree. I agree.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Are we biased, Joe? Like, are we just very proud
- 17:59Speaker 1: of our stuff? I mean, it's the rose-tinted glasses that
- 18:03Speaker 1: will never ever come out when it comes to anything
- 18:06Speaker 1: about Singaporeans defending Singapore, yeah, yeah, against, uh, I don't
- 18:13Speaker 1: want to say the words foreign entities, but you know
- 18:16Speaker 1: what I mean, you know, haters haters, yeah. I want
- 18:18Speaker 1: to say hello to Tracy. Tracy says, morning, Sojo. I
- 18:22Speaker 1: I dread dragging my cabin luggage on the newer carpets
- 18:26Speaker 1: in T2 because they're still quite fluffy, so the resistance
- 18:29Speaker 1: is real. I will sure perspire if I need to
- 18:32Speaker 1: rush to the gate. It's a little easier to roll
- 18:35Speaker 1: tilted on two wheels instead of four, but that's, I
- 18:38Speaker 1: think it's a small price to pay for the calm
- 18:40Speaker 1: and luxe feel the carpet brings. Pro tip, use the
- 18:44Speaker 1: small trolleys provided after immigration. Those glide smoothly.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Um, you know, I just always wonder the amount of
- 18:52Speaker 1: cleaning required for the carpets all across Changi Airport, like,
- 18:57Speaker 1: When do they do it and how? I mean, I'm
- 19:00Speaker 1: sure it's automated now, like the way that they, they
- 19:02Speaker 1: probably have machines going around. I also think it happens
- 19:05Speaker 1: all the time. It just constantly is it? It happens
- 19:08Speaker 1: so much that you just take it for granted and
- 19:10Speaker 1: you might not even notice it happening around you. Yeah, yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 1: More of your messages and Ryan's been hanging on the line.
- 19:15Speaker 1: We asked you, do you love or hate the carpeted
- 19:18Speaker 1: floors at Changi Airport? Again, we should call ourselves the
- 19:21Speaker 1: Changi Airport Defense Force.
- 19:25Speaker 1: CDF, that's Chief of Defense Force. Hello, sir. Sorry, CADF
- 19:30Speaker 1: if you're tuned in, uh, want to say hello to Fiona,
- 19:34Speaker 1: who says love the carpet at the airport. It's cozy
- 19:37Speaker 1: and feels like home, never easy to maintain, and they've
- 19:40Speaker 1: done an amazing job on this. Kudos, and I'm so
- 19:43Speaker 1: proud to be a Singaporean. And what's more, many Singaporeans
- 19:46Speaker 1: I know love to go to the airport whether they're
- 19:48Speaker 1: flying or not. Oh, it's so beautiful just to visit.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Just to see what's up, right? Yeah. One more coming
- 19:56Speaker 1: in from Satish. Satish you say blessed morning Sojo.
- 19:59Speaker 1: As far as airports go, Changi is the goat, greatest
- 20:03Speaker 1: of all time. I would say people are complaining about it.
- 20:05Speaker 1: It's just that they are sour grapes. It's the same
- 20:08Speaker 1: reason for which Singaporeans complain about everything. Try traveling to
- 20:12Speaker 1: a country where electricity and water is scarce. You'll be
- 20:15Speaker 1: very grateful. Yeah. No, yeah, I absolutely agree. OK, we've
- 20:19Speaker 1: got Ryan on the line. What do you think, Ryan?
- 20:21Speaker 1: I love it. It's quiet. It's a static compared to
- 20:24Speaker 1: the other airports.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Around the region, the sound does make a difference. Uh,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I mean, if anybody tried walking the Jakarta airport or
- 20:32Speaker 1: the Pudong airport, uh, you can't even hear yourself half
- 20:35Speaker 1: the time. No, that's true. That's so true. So which
- 20:38Speaker 1: airport would you say is like your least favorite? Has it,
- 20:41Speaker 1: is it Jakarta, the layout is horrible and you have
- 20:46Speaker 1: to take another light rail to the light airport and
- 20:50Speaker 1: Everything is so disconnected, really lack of any aesthetic reason
- 20:54Speaker 1: just to stay longer in the airport. The sound, the toilet, yeah, it's, it's,
- 20:59Speaker 1: it's vastly different. The thing is, sometimes I wonder whether
- 21:02Speaker 1: certain places, right, they intentionally make it like not so
- 21:05Speaker 1: nice because they don't want you to hang around for
- 21:07Speaker 1: too long. They're like get, get out, get out, just
- 21:09Speaker 1: do your thing and go. Exactly, yes, not so aesthetic.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Thank you so much for your call. Have a great day.
- 21:16Speaker 1: OK, bye-bye. We're down to our last few messages right
- 21:19Speaker 1: now and we're talking about whether you love or hate
- 21:22Speaker 1: the carpeted floors in Changi Airport. OK, yeah, I want
- 21:26Speaker 1: to say hello to Hata on WhatsApp. Hata says, morning, Sojo.
- 21:31Speaker 1: If an able-bodied person struggles with their hand carry luggage,
- 21:35Speaker 1: means that bag is overweight. Really, maximum 7 kg, guys.
- 21:42Speaker 1: No lah, but I think based on what a lot
- 21:45Speaker 1: of our, uh, listeners have been telling us so far,
- 21:48Speaker 1: it's simply the friction between your wheels and the carpet.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So I think the carpet is Terminal 2. We say
- 21:53Speaker 1: this affectionately. Uh, one more coming in from Richie. Richie,
- 21:58Speaker 1: you say morning guys. I don't know how to appreciate
- 22:00Speaker 1: our airport in my younger days until now. I travel
- 22:03Speaker 1: a lot and just in the recent years, I realized
- 22:06Speaker 1: a lot of nice things about Changi Airport. Fun fact,
- 22:08Speaker 1: the carpet in our airport helps us reduce soreness in the.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Heels and also helps with knee issues even if we
- 22:14Speaker 1: walk around a lot in the transit area for shopping.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I didn't know that. And number 2, the different color
- 22:19Speaker 1: and design of the carpet helps us differentiate different terminals.
- 22:22Speaker 1: For example, Terminal 2 is bluish turquoise while Terminal 3
- 22:26Speaker 1: is mainly blue. It's almost like the Disney adventure that
- 22:30Speaker 1: we're on the red, green, and blue carpets, yeah. Well,
- 22:34Speaker 1: thank you so much for all your messages and your
- 22:36Speaker 1: calls from today. I think this is a much larger
- 22:39Speaker 1: conversation that we're about to have very soon.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Um, but what, what we can safely conclude that all
- 22:43Speaker 1: Singaporeans are very defensive of our pride and joy at
- 22:46Speaker 1: Changi Airport. By the way, can I say perfect timing,
- 22:49Speaker 1: because the Skyre voting happens very soon. Yes, so please
- 22:53Speaker 1: vote for Changi Airport as the best airport in the world.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I'm ready. We're always there to support. Let's win it
- 22:57Speaker 1: 15 times or more. With the whole incident with, you know,
- 23:03Speaker 1: Cortis and its fans and everything and the Singapore fandom
- 23:06Speaker 1: actually apologizing for the mess that went down, I actually
- 23:09Speaker 1: felt really proud of them.
- 23:10Speaker 1: For for taking responsibility, you know, but also it's not
- 23:14Speaker 1: the first time that the padang or the concert venue
- 23:17Speaker 1: has been filled with litter after a Formula One concert.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I remember this tweet I made when Twitter was still
- 23:24Speaker 1: fun back in the year 2018 or 2019, right? I
- 23:27Speaker 1: think it was after Swedish House Mafia on a Friday
- 23:32Speaker 1: when I was walking around the padang. I saw loads
- 23:34Speaker 1: of litter on the floor. It kind of went viral.
- 23:38Speaker 1: It got stomped as well and
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't know. Hopefully this year it improved and it
- 23:42Speaker 1: got better as well. You know, um, in Japan, right,
- 23:46Speaker 1: because if you notice when you walk around in Japan,
- 23:48Speaker 1: you don't see many bins. You realize that when you walk.
- 23:51Speaker 1: So what people do is they actually keep those like
- 23:53Speaker 1: little trash bags in their bags, and then they trash
- 23:56Speaker 1: it in their bags first, then they'll toss it later.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I think the reason why people just chuck it on
- 24:00Speaker 1: the ground is because there's no trash bin. If you're
- 24:02Speaker 1: stuck there in the concert.
- 24:04Speaker 1: They're just going to drop it on the ground and
- 24:06Speaker 1: they assume the cleaners will do it for you. But
- 24:08Speaker 1: also shout to our friends over in Japan who every
- 24:11Speaker 1: World Cup, every football tournament or any sporting event, you
- 24:15Speaker 1: will see the Japanese fans cleaning up. They will clean
- 24:18Speaker 1: up after themselves. Well done to them. But here's the thing,
- 24:21Speaker 1: you know, with every good gesture will come haters and
- 24:25Speaker 1: after this year's, uh, was it World Cup.
- 24:28Speaker 1: They were saying, oh, they're just doing it because they're
- 24:30Speaker 1: being performative. Can you, can you believe it? I was
- 24:33Speaker 1: like horrified at the comments. I can only imagine where
- 24:38Speaker 1: these kind of comments are coming from. I won't say
- 24:40Speaker 1: the country in an international incident, but it's always, it's
- 24:43Speaker 1: always there, right? It's OK. Today we've got a pretty
- 24:48Speaker 1: crowded studio, Joe. Yeah, so what I'm holding up.
- 24:52Speaker 1: 87's TikTok if I can get the angle correctly. uh,
- 24:55Speaker 1: if you want to book this lovely young band for
- 24:58Speaker 1: any events or we're not talking weddings, you can see
- 25:03Speaker 1: here is the QR code. You can scan it. I
- 25:05Speaker 1: think I will leave it up for the entire performance,
- 25:09Speaker 1: but last week, or was it two weeks ago, you
- 25:11Speaker 1: might have seen a video that's gone viral and covered
- 25:14Speaker 1: on so much of our press outlets here.
- 25:16Speaker 1: In Singapore and when I saw it, I felt quite angry.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I mean, look, we talked about it on air, right?
- 25:20Speaker 1: And um just TLDR TLDR, they went from, you know,
- 25:24Speaker 1: an ordinary day busking to a confrontation with an uncle. Yes,
- 25:29Speaker 1: that's the, that's the conclusion, right? And when I was
- 25:32Speaker 1: when they came in the studio, I said kudos to
- 25:33Speaker 1: them for keeping calm because I don't know about our reactions.
- 25:37Speaker 1: You might have shouted back, but say hello to J
- 25:39Speaker 1: Pag Ben.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Studio, hello guys. Yeah.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Morning. Is this too early for you? Like, how's it,
- 25:46Speaker 1: how's it going, guys? It's going OK. It's great. The
- 25:50Speaker 1: energy is still not there. waking up waking up. Wait,
- 25:54Speaker 1: wait till you hear them sing. OK, guys, before we
- 25:57Speaker 1: get to whatever happened in that video, uh, take us
- 26:00Speaker 1: to your leader. Who do we direct question?
- 26:03Speaker 1: and then you all can spit among yourselves with hands
- 26:06Speaker 1: pointing everywhere pointing at each other, pointing at each other. OK,
- 26:09Speaker 1: for the sake of our audience who might uh just
- 26:12Speaker 1: getting to know you right now, maybe you can introduce
- 26:15Speaker 1: yourselves and left to right what you do, sing, play
- 26:17Speaker 1: one by one. Yeah. Hi, I'm Phoebe. I'm the keyboardist
- 26:20Speaker 1: of the band. Hello, I'm Jess. I'm the singer.
- 26:25Speaker 1: He's got to lean
- 26:26Speaker 2: in. So I'm the guitar.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Hi everyone, my name is Gerald. I play the drums
- 26:32Speaker 2: and I also do a bit of backup singing when
- 26:34Speaker 2: she needs to take a break.
- 26:36Speaker 1: OK, OK. OK, so let's go back to the beginnings
- 26:40Speaker 1: of this band. How do you all even form, meet
- 26:44Speaker 1: and start jamming together?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Um, we actually were at the same place, the same
- 26:49Speaker 1: music school, so we met through there and then um
- 26:53Speaker 1: because uh we, they wanted us to do some performance
- 26:56Speaker 1: in the morning for school assemblies for the MOE schools
- 27:00Speaker 1: and so we started um jamming from there.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Yes. And how long ago was this? This was just
- 27:07Speaker 1: last year. Oh, so you're like a newly formed band. Wow,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I thought they knew each other for like super long, man,
- 27:14Speaker 1: but that's the impression that I got actually, you know what,
- 27:19Speaker 1: let's just apply for license. So, so here's the thing,
- 27:24Speaker 1: I mean, the, the concept of busking and how people
- 27:28Speaker 1: perceive it has changed so much over the years, right?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Um, how did you decide to, OK, I want to
- 27:33Speaker 1: go into busking specifically and not like try to get
- 27:36Speaker 1: gigs another way. Who, who had this
- 27:39Speaker 1: idea?
- 27:42Speaker 2: Um, it was my initially and Phoebe, we were already bus,
- 27:44Speaker 2: so we decided that two men is not enough because
- 27:47Speaker 2: we only cover singing and keyboard.
- 27:50Speaker 2: So we thought, why not just create um four-man band, OK,
- 27:54Speaker 2: with Vero with jazz, and let's see how it goes. Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 2: So why basking first is because we were just starting out,
- 28:00Speaker 2: we were still very new to, to being a band,
- 28:04Speaker 2: so we wanted to try to build our repertoire first. Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 2: So once we build enough repertoire, then we tried to
- 28:09Speaker 2: just go for another audition for 4 of us and then, yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The rest is history. OK. Only because among the four
- 28:18Speaker 1: of you, at least for me, she shows up on
- 28:20Speaker 1: my algorithm a lot. Jazz, we, we know you can
- 28:23Speaker 1: sing opera, you're an operatic trained singer, and you also
- 28:26Speaker 1: teach music. I love the different ways you teach students
- 28:28Speaker 1: how to sing the notes, by the way. How different
- 28:31Speaker 1: is operatic singing and then going into pop music as well?
- 28:35Speaker 1: It's very, very different, the styles and everything, but uh
- 28:38Speaker 1: the technique wise because uh I had formal training, so
- 28:42Speaker 1: switching into pop was wasn't too difficult for me. So
- 28:48Speaker 1: the high notes and quite effortless. I mean, didn't you
- 28:49Speaker 1: see the soundtrack just now, like pretty effortless already. So
- 28:53Speaker 1: I have a question. So when it comes down to busking, right?
- 28:56Speaker 1: Um, it's not always a captive audience. Am I right
- 29:00Speaker 1: to say that? Sometimes on like if you're at a
- 29:03Speaker 1: good location with uh high traffic of people, they might
- 29:05Speaker 1: stop and watch. But how do you then like build
- 29:08Speaker 1: your confidence to just keep going when people are just
- 29:11Speaker 1: like moving around? I don't know. Do you feel that way?
- 29:13Speaker 1: I mean, I, I noticed that, right? Yeah, actually more
- 29:18Speaker 1: or less because whenever we see people like, oh, come on,
- 29:21Speaker 1: let's let's faster, like get it on, you know, like
- 29:23Speaker 1: just keep going and stuff like that.
- 29:25Speaker 1: But then when we see like the low traffic, that's
- 29:28Speaker 1: when we're like, OK, let's, uh, take a short little
- 29:30Speaker 1: water break and then, OK, like faster like get back
- 29:32Speaker 1: into it. Yeah, but it's, it really depends on the
- 29:35Speaker 1: people as well because sometimes they will stop by, they
- 29:37Speaker 1: will film us, and then, uh, some people when they
- 29:40Speaker 1: walk past, they will also film us. So this is
- 29:42Speaker 1: how we get like their, their connection with us. So
- 29:49Speaker 1: you have to read the word of mouth, but I
- 29:49Speaker 1: was gonna say.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Sonia and I have hosted in empty malls before and
- 29:54Speaker 1: sometimes you have to try to stop people. So it's
- 29:56Speaker 1: very hard. So we know exactly how you feel. But
- 29:58Speaker 1: this really brings up the shamelessness factor in us. Just
- 30:01Speaker 1: do only, yeah, just sing and host and do it only, yeah, OK. OK, so, um,
- 30:08Speaker 1: take us to Pasir Ris right now, which I grew
- 30:10Speaker 1: up at actually. That's my hood. Yeah, and I know, um,
- 30:14Speaker 1: 22 of you live around the area, right?
- 30:16Speaker 1: Um, was it an immediate decision to be like, OK,
- 30:19Speaker 1: Pasir Ris is our zone, or were you assigned to
- 30:21Speaker 1: the location when you applied for the permit? and then
- 30:23Speaker 1: you can slot. OK, so you select your location.
- 30:34Speaker 1: On where to go or was it no no Pasir
- 30:36Speaker 1: Ris Pasir Ris, we were clueless at first. So initially
- 30:40Speaker 1: we were thinking of central location so that more people can,
- 30:44Speaker 1: it's easier for people to come, but then we realized
- 30:47Speaker 1: that oh the traveling distance is quite far and plus
- 30:51Speaker 1: we have so many equipment.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It was very tough for us, yeah, especially the Orchard area. Well,
- 30:57Speaker 1: the carrying the lugging, everything was very tough. So we
- 31:01Speaker 1: decided that, OK, how about we do somewhere that is
- 31:04Speaker 1: closer for us, yeah, more convenient. Yeah, so we decided
- 31:07Speaker 1: to pass at Pasir Ris. So do you equipment at
- 31:11Speaker 1: the people who stay at Pasir Ris' house like the
- 31:14Speaker 1: keyboard and stuff like that, someone's house near Pasir Ris,
- 31:18Speaker 1: they leave it at my house.
- 31:20Speaker 1: You're chosen. You're the chosen one. OK, when we come back,
- 31:24Speaker 1: I believe you've prepared some tracks for us. Yeah. What
- 31:27Speaker 1: will you be doing for us today? Alright, our first
- 31:30Speaker 1: song will be Don't Stop Believing by Journey. OK. Now
- 31:33Speaker 1: we'll give you a second to set up. We're still
- 31:35Speaker 1: live on TikTok right now, but I wish I could
- 31:37Speaker 1: paint you a picture if you're not tuned in on
- 31:38Speaker 1: TikTok Live. They've actually got a lot of equipment. They
- 31:42Speaker 1: brought their full range of instruments here today. We're very,
- 31:44Speaker 1: very excited. That's happening in a few minutes. Standby. Good vibes,
- 31:48Speaker 1: good energy here in the studio. We're about to have some.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm, I'm very proudly holding up the QR code
- 31:54Speaker 1: that you can scan on TikTok Live to view JPEC's
- 31:57Speaker 1: busking schedule, and you can also book them for events.
- 31:59Speaker 1: I think, given how they kept themselves calm and collected
- 32:03Speaker 1: during whatever happened last week or two weeks ago in
- 32:05Speaker 1: that video, to which I want to ask, OK, someone
- 32:09Speaker 1: break down the entire situation. I'm pretty sure loads of
- 32:12Speaker 1: local media outlets have asked you the same question as well,
- 32:14Speaker 1: but maybe you can hear it from your point of view.
- 32:17Speaker 1: What happened? So we know you guys kept to 65 decibels.
- 32:20Speaker 1: And then yeah, explain the whole situation. So it was
- 32:23Speaker 1: on 2nd of October, it was a Friday and we
- 32:26Speaker 1: booked our busking slot at Pasir Ris MRT from 1:0:00 a.m.
- 32:30Speaker 1: to 12 p.m. So we were busking for about an
- 32:33Speaker 1: hour and 50 minutes. So it all was good. There
- 32:36Speaker 1: was no complaint from SMRT and uh our last song
- 32:40Speaker 1: was Locked Out of Heaven by Bruno Mars. Yeah, and OK,
- 32:44Speaker 1: then at first when we started, it was all good
- 32:47Speaker 1: and we saw an uncle approach us.
- 32:50Speaker 1: And initially I thought he was gonna um say a
- 32:53Speaker 1: comment or like make a song suggestion or something, but yes, yes,
- 32:58Speaker 1: song request or then after that he started um telling us,
- 33:02Speaker 1: lower your volume, you're too loud and then immediately I
- 33:05Speaker 1: was like, oh, OK, and then I nodded my head
- 33:08Speaker 1: to acknowledge him, but because I was in the middle
- 33:11Speaker 1: of all my instrumentalists, so I couldn't walk to the
- 33:15Speaker 1: speaker to lower the volume immediately, so we were planning
- 33:18Speaker 1: to do it after the song.
- 33:20Speaker 1: But because the uncle was still raising his voice, so
- 33:23Speaker 1: my guitarist actually stopped playing. Yeah, so the volume was
- 33:26Speaker 1: already lowered, but he continued uh raising his voice at
- 33:30Speaker 1: us and he actually went to my keyboardist and he continued,
- 33:34Speaker 1: he continued shouting and my keyboardist also lowered her volume, yes,
- 33:39Speaker 1: so we were already softer, but um the uncle was
- 33:42Speaker 1: still not satisfied, yeah, so um we had to stop
- 33:46Speaker 1: the music.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Uh, right there, and, um, so a few passersby actually
- 33:51Speaker 1: went up to like protect us, yeah, to stop the uncle, yes, yes,
- 33:57Speaker 1: and uh after that, um, someone told us to ignore
- 34:00Speaker 1: the uncle and just continue with our basking session, but
- 34:03Speaker 1: um because I didn't want to um cause a scene,
- 34:06Speaker 1: I just wanted to leave because you know um you
- 34:09Speaker 1: know their safeties are my priority.
- 34:12Speaker 1: So I told them that OK let's pack up, let's
- 34:14Speaker 1: leave and then um someone said to call the police
- 34:18Speaker 1: but I didn't want to make things up, yeah, so
- 34:22Speaker 1: uh maybe a passerby called the police, so shortly after
- 34:25Speaker 1: when we were packing, the police came and they took
- 34:28Speaker 1: our statements, but by the time the police arrived, the
- 34:33Speaker 1: uncle already.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yeah, is, is this uncle like recognizable? Like, you know,
- 34:38Speaker 1: sometimes you recognize people walking about. You've never seen him
- 34:41Speaker 1: before you've encountered him. Was he even a Pasir Ris resident?
- 34:45Speaker 1: That's my question. So, so have you all seen him
- 34:48Speaker 1: make an appearance since that day? No, yeah, no, I
- 34:51Speaker 1: think he knows he went viral also. So if I
- 34:53Speaker 1: say I don't want to go there. Someone on TikTok
- 34:55Speaker 1: say you should invite the uncle to the studio.
- 34:59Speaker 1: Find out why. Find out why. No, no, but, but again, again, guys,
- 35:03Speaker 1: kudos to staying calm and of course Jess for being
- 35:06Speaker 1: like the leader and protecting the bandmates and making sure
- 35:08Speaker 1: they're all safe as well. Uh, Lion on TikTok says
- 35:11Speaker 1: Pasir Risians don't claim this uncle. I also don't claim
- 35:14Speaker 1: because I used to stay there on behalf of all
- 35:16Speaker 1: the Pasirian, yes, all of us.
- 35:19Speaker 1: So, so before we get to your first track, have
- 35:22Speaker 1: you guys received a lot more requests and follows ever
- 35:25Speaker 1: since that incident because it was pretty viral. I mean,
- 35:29Speaker 1: a lot of media outlets covered it. Yeah. So uh
- 35:32Speaker 1: we received more requests. Nice and also uh some bookings
- 35:36Speaker 1: as well. Wow. Thank you, uncle.
- 35:38Speaker 1: We, we, we booked you for our studio show. I
- 35:42Speaker 1: love that. OK, now you've prepared a couple of tracks
- 35:45Speaker 1: for us. What will we start with? Right, uh, we
- 35:48Speaker 1: can start with Don't Stop Believing by Journey. Alright, let's go.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Anytime you're ready, take it away.
- 36:13Speaker 1: It's a small town girl
- 36:57Speaker 1: No
- 37:14Speaker 1: been
- 39:51Speaker 1: I love that. You know how many comments we're getting
- 39:54Speaker 1: right now saying blessing to our ears in the morning,
- 39:57Speaker 1: loving the sets. Wow, where's this pianist from? You know what,
- 40:03Speaker 1: in defense of their song choice, if you grew up
- 40:06Speaker 1: watching Glee, this made me very happy. Don't stop believing.
- 40:10Speaker 1: You know, it's been a while since we've had that
- 40:12Speaker 1: song on air.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Because we play top 40 music most of the time, right?
- 40:15Speaker 1: But thank you for putting a fresh spin on it. Um,
- 40:18Speaker 1: is that one of your favorite songs to perform in general?
- 40:20Speaker 1: It is. Why? It's just a feel good kind of
- 40:23Speaker 1: thing or this gets us a lot of. Yeah, I mean,
- 40:26Speaker 1: it's one of the ultimate sing-alongs to jam. But can
- 40:31Speaker 1: I read a comment from Sharikim, the uncle coming to
- 40:33Speaker 1: 987 now.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Uncle on the way.
- 40:39Speaker 1: I mean, to answer some of your questions on TikTok Live, yes,
- 40:42Speaker 1: it's their first time here in the studio. We're very
- 40:43Speaker 1: happy to have them here. And it's been a long
- 40:45Speaker 1: time since we've had like a full band like that
- 40:48Speaker 1: in the studio, you know, I think it's so impressive.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I'm glad our space can accommodate, but we know you
- 40:52Speaker 1: have one more song for us. Do you need a
- 40:54Speaker 1: break or anything? OK?
- 40:56Speaker 1: No, they're good lah. I think they're fine. They can
- 40:58Speaker 1: keep going. I'll hold the board again. What? It's OK,
- 41:01Speaker 1: it's OK. We can prop it up. We don't distract
- 41:04Speaker 1: the performance. Just sit down, just sit down. OK. Ready?
- 41:08Speaker 1: What are you going to be performing for us here today?
- 41:12Speaker 1: By the way, this is like life decision making right now.
- 41:19Speaker 1: casually having this conversation while we're still live on air,
- 41:21Speaker 1: by the way. Can I, can I play as the uncle? Yes, please.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I think you are the uncle. I want to sing
- 41:29Speaker 1: the full song not being interrupted. Ready anytime. OK, no,
- 41:33Speaker 1: take your time, take your time. No rush, no rush.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Guitarist the taps. Get ready. If this is proof that
- 41:40Speaker 1: it's absolutely life, OK, if you needed any extra proof
- 41:43Speaker 1: at all, um, I think that some of the song
- 41:47Speaker 1: requests coming through right now and a lot of people
- 41:49Speaker 1: saying uncle on his way, OK, don't worry. We know,
- 41:52Speaker 1: we know, we know. Ready anytime you guys are. Let's
- 41:56Speaker 1: go in 32112123.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I'm
- 42:36Speaker 1: time you spend
- 42:41Speaker 1: makes
- 42:43Speaker 1: red
- 43:32Speaker 1: You've been
- 43:34Speaker 1: Please make me testify.
- 43:39Speaker 1: You can
- 43:41Speaker 1: Cha
- 43:45Speaker 1: get
- 43:46Speaker 1: I can't wait
- 45:39Speaker 1: And give it.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Wow, what a great performance, you guys. Thank you so
- 45:47Speaker 1: much for putting that up. You've got so many fan
- 45:48Speaker 1: messages coming through right now, by the way. Thank you. Um,
- 45:50Speaker 1: people saying the pianist is my idol. Um, I want
- 45:54Speaker 1: to see the guitarist's face. I want to sing like you.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Where's the drummer's face?
- 46:00Speaker 1: A lot of new fans here this morning. Their singing
- 46:02Speaker 1: woke me up. Good. OK, so a quick question, now
- 46:05Speaker 1: that you are done with us here on 987, are
- 46:07Speaker 1: you all gonna zoom on down to Pasir Ris to
- 46:09Speaker 1: what's the plan? What's the plan for today? I'll be
- 46:12Speaker 1: going back to school. Oh, OK. And, and what else
- 46:16Speaker 1: can you tell us? I mean, I know we have
- 46:17Speaker 1: the QR code here, but maybe for our on-air audience
- 46:19Speaker 1: who cannot, you know.
- 46:20Speaker 1: scan it right now. Um, what are some of your
- 46:22Speaker 1: upcoming gigs that we can catch you at? We'll be
- 46:25Speaker 1: having a Halloween gig on 24th October, Saturday. It's at CC.
- 46:33Speaker 1: That's happening very soon actually. So are you dressing up
- 46:36Speaker 1: as anything like Halloween dressing up as the uncle, right?
- 46:41Speaker 1: That's why the uncle and play. Honestly, that would be
- 46:44Speaker 1: damn funny. Your uncle is somewhere here in Singapore twitching
- 46:50Speaker 1: talking about me? We got to thank him. We got
- 46:51Speaker 1: to thank him for all this publicity right now, man,
- 46:53Speaker 1: for sure. But no, for real, what are you wearing?
- 46:56Speaker 1: We bought Teletubby.
- 46:59Speaker 1: So cute. Wait, so are you actually wearing what you
- 47:02Speaker 1: all might be wearing for pole. She's pole and your
- 47:06Speaker 1: tinky Winky, is it in purple. Then Jess, you are
- 47:10Speaker 1: probably lala. And then there's dipsy.
- 47:15Speaker 1: That's hilarious
- 47:16Speaker 2: I don't even remember what is the name.
- 47:18Speaker 1: It's scary that I actually know. So who's the vacuum cleaner,
- 47:21Speaker 1: the naughty Nu.
- 47:27Speaker 1: OK, maybe Joe and I might appear as the sun.
- 47:31Speaker 1: We stand in the background as the sun. Anyway, thank
- 47:35Speaker 1: you so much for all the good vibes here today.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Really appreciate you being here. Would you like to say
- 47:39Speaker 1: anything to your newfound audience? Um, we've got so many
- 47:42Speaker 1: viewers right now, just saying how much they appreciate your
- 47:45Speaker 1: music this morning and they were all singing along as well.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Thank you so much for supporting us. It really means
- 47:51Speaker 1: a lot to us because um
- 47:54Speaker 1: All started from zero, from scratch, so we are very
- 47:57Speaker 1: grateful for all the support this uh this new year, yeah.
- 48:02Speaker 1: Any anything else you want to add while we have
- 48:03Speaker 1: the mic since you're actually, yeah, I really want to
- 48:08Speaker 1: thank all the support that we received so far because
- 48:10Speaker 1: we we do know that uh because of the uncle
- 48:14Speaker 1: complaints and stuff like that.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It might have been a bit scary to us, but
- 48:19Speaker 1: thank you for all your positive comments, and that always
- 48:23Speaker 1: keeps us going, yeah. Anything else?
- 48:37Speaker 2: I'm the oldest here actually and my birthday is just yesterday.
- 48:43Speaker 2: And I'm feeling so grateful to have them. Yeah, they
- 48:46Speaker 2: actually trained me a lot. They scold me a lot
- 48:49Speaker 2: because I'm the, you know, um.
- 48:53Speaker 2: I'm always slow in terms of playing music and need to, uh,
- 48:57Speaker 2: you know, a bit hardworking, OK, but they all are
- 49:00Speaker 2: very supportive. They scold me in a good way. So yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 2: you know, uh, yeah,
- 49:09Speaker 1: OK, wait, can I end this on the one rule
- 49:11Speaker 1: that I always believe in Sonia. If a busker stops
- 49:15Speaker 1: you and you look, you owe them $1.
- 49:17Speaker 1: Oh, that's the rule, is it the rule. I mean,
- 49:19Speaker 1: if I make eye contact, I'm giving everything in my
- 49:21Speaker 1: wallet already. I'm like, I'm like that under pressure. I'm
- 49:24Speaker 1: that kind of person. So look at her. Thank you
- 49:29Speaker 1: so much for being with us here today. We wish
- 49:31Speaker 1: you all the best for having us. If you have
- 49:33Speaker 1: anything that you ever need to showcase or you want
- 49:35Speaker 1: to perform again, please hit us up. You know what
- 49:36Speaker 1: to do, OK? Alright, thank you, James.
