Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
0:04
Speaker 1: Leon Black is engaged in a legal struggle against guzell Ganieva,
0:09
Speaker 1: who is suing him for what she says was physical
0:13
Speaker 1: and sexual assault. Now, obviously, Leon Black denies these allegations
0:19
Speaker 1: and has hired a hot shot legal team. The only
0:22
Speaker 1: problem is one of the people who is in the
0:24
Speaker 1: law office now of the company representing him, well, that
0:28
Speaker 1: person used to be a prosecutor. So now guzel Ganieva
0:33
Speaker 1: and her team are trying to get Leon Black's law
0:36
Speaker 1: firm disqualified from the case. So let's get to this
0:40
Speaker 1: article from Reuter's and let's get caught up headlined leon
0:44
Speaker 1: Black's law firm fights disqualification bid in Russian model's case.
0:49
Speaker 1: This article was authored by David Thomas. A law firm
0:54
Speaker 1: defending billionaire investor Leon Black in a defamation and sexual
0:58
Speaker 1: misconduct lawsuit is fighting to keep its role in the
1:01
Speaker 1: case after Black's accuser said the firm should be disqualified
1:05
Speaker 1: for hiring a New York prosecutor who once investigated him. So, look,
1:09
Speaker 1: this lady was working as a prosecutor, and not only
1:13
Speaker 1: as a prosecutor, but somebody who is investigating Leon Black.
1:16
Speaker 1: Then this person decides to leave the prosecutor's office and
1:20
Speaker 1: join this law firm. Well, this law firm obviously is
1:24
Speaker 1: representing Leon Black, so you could see why miss Ganieva
1:27
Speaker 1: would be trying to get them dismissed. Here is it
1:29
Speaker 1: going to work? I don't know, but it's certainly a
1:32
Speaker 1: valid opinion or a valid concern. The former prosecutor, Joan
1:39
Speaker 1: Alusi or Bond said in court papers Tuesday that she
1:42
Speaker 1: has nothing to do with the case. Black, represented by
1:45
Speaker 1: law firm Perry Goua, is battling claims by Russian model
1:49
Speaker 1: Guzelle Ganieva in New York State Court that he abused
1:52
Speaker 1: her sexually and then lied and falsely accused her of
1:56
Speaker 1: extortion when she spoke out. He has denied the alligationations,
2:00
Speaker 1: and she also said that he tried to trafficker to
2:03
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. Now, are these allegations true or not? We
2:07
Speaker 1: don't know, right, we weren't there. Nobody knows. But whenever
2:11
Speaker 1: you're somebody who's rolling around with Jeffrey Epstein and being
2:14
Speaker 1: involved with him to the tune of one hundred and
2:16
Speaker 1: fifty eight million dollars, you better believe people are paying
2:19
Speaker 1: attention when someone says you tried to traffic them to
2:22
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. Last month, Ganieva said Perry Guha should be
2:28
Speaker 1: thrown off the case because the law firm had recently
2:31
Speaker 1: hired a lousy or Bond from the Manhattan District Attorney's office,
2:35
Speaker 1: where she led the Triald division. I don't see that
2:38
Speaker 1: being as too big of an ask here. Leon Black
2:41
Speaker 1: has plenty of money, plenty of lawyers out there. You
2:43
Speaker 1: have to have the lawyer where there's a bit of
2:45
Speaker 1: a conflict of interest. Well, of course they do. They
2:48
Speaker 1: want everything weighed in their favor, right, and a guy
2:50
Speaker 1: like Leon Black has the money to make sure that happens.
2:54
Speaker 1: But I could see from miss Ganieva's perspective here why
2:58
Speaker 1: she wouldn't want or Bond involved. If Orbon was working
3:01
Speaker 1: in the office I was prosecuting this case, don't you
3:04
Speaker 1: think she might have some inside information? And I don't
3:07
Speaker 1: want to hear. Oh well, I would never ever do
3:09
Speaker 1: something like that. Yeah right, So what you want me
3:13
Speaker 1: to believe is a lawyer telling me something? Yeah? Fat chance?
3:19
Speaker 1: ELUSI or Bon received confidential information about Black, the former
3:23
Speaker 1: head of private equity firm Apollo Global Management Incorporated. When
3:27
Speaker 1: Ganieva reported his alleged sexual misconduct to Manhattan prosecutors last year.
3:33
Speaker 1: Ghanieva alleged allowing Perry Guha to stay on Black's council
3:37
Speaker 1: would be a flagrant ethical violation, she argued, but in
3:41
Speaker 1: an Affid David file Tuesday in New York County Supreme Court,
3:45
Speaker 1: Elusi or Bond said she has completely walled off from
3:47
Speaker 1: Perry Gouha's work on Black's case. See, I have a
3:50
Speaker 1: hard time believing that. And I don't think that there
3:53
Speaker 1: should even be a bit of room for people to say, oh, well,
3:59
Speaker 1: because because she was working on the case as a prosecutor,
4:02
Speaker 1: that's why things went south. And you would think that
4:05
Speaker 1: mister Guha here would want to avoid that as well.
4:08
Speaker 1: But I guess not, And maybe this is more common
4:11
Speaker 1: than I know. Like I always say, I'm certainly not
4:13
Speaker 1: some legal egal who follows this stuff closely, usually only
4:17
Speaker 1: when it falls onto our plate. Perry Guha separately called
4:23
Speaker 1: Ganieva's move to disqualify it shameful, saying it was not
4:27
Speaker 1: based on any actual conflict. S Meet Guha, a partner
4:31
Speaker 1: at Perry Guha, said in a statement the disqualification motion
4:36
Speaker 1: is a cynical litigation tactic that has no basis in
4:39
Speaker 1: law or fact, and that's probably close to the truth.
4:43
Speaker 1: We know that when lawyers get to battling here and
4:46
Speaker 1: they lock horns, there's really nothing that they're unwilling to do.
4:51
Speaker 1: I mean, lawyers get it in, they'll hire private investigators,
4:54
Speaker 1: they'll go through your trash. They don't give a shit.
4:57
Speaker 1: So while I find it a bit sick for them
5:00
Speaker 1: to say, oh, well, this is a disqualification motion, is
5:04
Speaker 1: just cynical litigation tactics. There's certainly an element of that there,
5:08
Speaker 1: but it's also gamesmanship. A lousy or Bond told the
5:14
Speaker 1: court she could not publicly confirm or deny any investigation
5:17
Speaker 1: of Black by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. She added
5:20
Speaker 1: that her former office had no concerns about the propriety
5:24
Speaker 1: of my work with Perry Guha or my conduct. Oh well,
5:28
Speaker 1: since the Manhattan District District Attorney's Office says, so we
5:31
Speaker 1: have to just get on board, right, considering they have
5:33
Speaker 1: such a great track record of worrying about people who
5:36
Speaker 1: have been assaulted. Alusi or A Bond said she is
5:42
Speaker 1: an independent contractor with Perry Guha and typically works less
5:46
Speaker 1: than ten hours a week at the firm. Must be
5:48
Speaker 1: making some big dough. You're only working ten hours a
5:51
Speaker 1: week and you're able to pay your bills, and shit
5:53
Speaker 1: must be nice. Lawyer Jean Christiansen, a partner at Whigdor
5:58
Speaker 1: representing Ganieva, said Perry Guha's filings this week indicate that
6:03
Speaker 1: they did not give notice about Elusi or Bond's hire
6:06
Speaker 1: or implement any scream screening formally in their office for months.
6:11
Speaker 1: So there's a procedure that has to be followed here,
6:14
Speaker 1: and according to Jean Christiansen, who's representing Guzell Ganieva, she
6:19
Speaker 1: says that that wasn't followed and there was no buffer
6:22
Speaker 1: zone here. There was no implemented screening or anything for months.
6:29
Speaker 1: Last month, Black filed a separate lawsuit against Ganieva and
6:34
Speaker 1: her law firm, Wigdor Aleegend Ganijeva broke a confidentially confidentiality
6:38
Speaker 1: agreement she had with them, and that case is also
6:41
Speaker 1: pending in New York County Supreme Court. Christiansen called Black's
6:46
Speaker 1: latest lawsuit total nonsense. Well, that's because they're going to
6:50
Speaker 1: go back and forth and call each other's lawsuits nonsense.
6:54
Speaker 1: And when you're dealing with Leon Black, you have to
6:55
Speaker 1: remember that you're going to be dealing with somebody who's
6:59
Speaker 1: bringing the knives out. This is a man who is
7:02
Speaker 1: not playing around, and a man who has always been very,
7:05
Speaker 1: very feared as far as being somebody who goes all
7:08
Speaker 1: the way. Obviously, some of that facade has been rubbed
7:13
Speaker 1: off since his fall from Grace over at Apollo, but
7:16
Speaker 1: he's still not somebody to be trifled with, and he
7:19
Speaker 1: will do whatever it takes to make sure that he
7:21
Speaker 1: wins this case. If that means hiring ten prosecutors, that's
7:24
Speaker 1: what he'll do. Black is also appealing the dismissal of
7:29
Speaker 1: his federal lawsuit against Kanieva and Wigdor. He accused them
7:33
Speaker 1: in engaging in a criminal enterprise, including by falsely linking
7:37
Speaker 1: Black to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Falsely linking
7:40
Speaker 1: Black to the late sex offender. One hundred and fifty
7:43
Speaker 1: eight million reasons why he should be linked to Jeffrey Epstein,
7:47
Speaker 1: And in fact, I don't think enough is made about
7:49
Speaker 1: his connections to Epstein. How about that this is a
7:52
Speaker 1: man who was there for Epstein for all of these years,
7:55
Speaker 1: provide financial support, financial sucker, and and all of a
8:00
Speaker 1: sudden we should just forget that Leon Black had any
8:03
Speaker 1: connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Give me a break man now.
8:07
Speaker 1: As far as missus Ganieva allegedly being trafficked to Jeffrey
8:11
Speaker 1: Epstein or offered to Jeffrey Epstein, I can't confirm or
8:14
Speaker 1: deny that, but I will say this, it doesn't seem
8:17
Speaker 1: like completely out of left field considering who Jeffrey Epstein
8:20
Speaker 1: is and what he was. A judge dismissed the suit
8:24
Speaker 1: in June, calling it dubiously pled, legally tenuous, and threadbare.
8:29
Speaker 1: A spokesperson for Black did not immediately respond to a
8:32
Speaker 1: request for comment, and that's been his m We're not
8:37
Speaker 1: going to hear anything from Leon Black, that's for damn sure.
8:40
Speaker 1: But he's going to continue to go hard here with
8:42
Speaker 1: his steamroller approach in hopes that he can litigate Gazelle
8:45
Speaker 1: Ganieva into oblivion. That's how these guys roll. How many
8:49
Speaker 1: times have we seen it, These rich, powerful people, they'll
8:52
Speaker 1: have these long, laborious litigations. That way they can drain
8:58
Speaker 1: the coffers of the people that having these legal disputes
9:01
Speaker 1: against and that's why you see many people not go
9:03
Speaker 1: up against people like Leon Black. You don't have the
9:06
Speaker 1: war chest, or if you don't have a lawyer who's
9:08
Speaker 1: willing to go all the way, you're in big trouble.
9:10
Speaker 1: You're cooked right from the beginning. But the fact that
9:13
Speaker 1: Leon Black would even attempt to distance himself from Epstein
9:16
Speaker 1: is just absurd to me, and anyone who's followed the
9:20
Speaker 1: story understands that from a financial perspective, Leon Black was
9:24
Speaker 1: right in the mix. He was right there with Epstein
9:26
Speaker 1: this whole time, one hundred and fifty eight million, right
9:29
Speaker 1: there with jess Daley helping to enable him, acting as
9:32
Speaker 1: a vehicle for Epstein to keep advancing in the financial sector.
9:36
Speaker 1: So miss me with all of the oh, well, we
9:38
Speaker 1: didn't really even know Jeffrey Epstein's such bs. Now again,
9:45
Speaker 1: does that mean that guzel Ganievo was trafficked to Jeffrey
9:49
Speaker 1: Epstein or offered to him. No, it does not, and
9:51
Speaker 1: that's what this trial is going to try and figure out.
9:54
Speaker 1: But for me, any time we hear somebody like Leon
9:58
Speaker 1: Black or anyone who was in Epstein's orbit have these
10:00
Speaker 1: sorts of allegations against them, you know, it's time to
10:03
Speaker 1: take a look and see what's going on. So we'll
10:06
Speaker 1: continue to keep an eye on this case and continue
10:08
Speaker 1: to keep an eye on the court proceedings to see
10:10
Speaker 1: where it all ends up. All right, folks, that's gonna
10:13
Speaker 1: do it for this one. If you'd like to contact me,
10:15
Speaker 1: you can do that at Bobby Kapuci at ProtonMail dot com.
10:19
Speaker 1: That's Bo Bby capu Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You
10:25
Speaker 1: can also find me on Twitter at Bobby underscore cap Ucci.
10:31
Speaker 1: The link that I discussed can be found in the
10:34
Speaker 1: description box. What's up everyone, and welcome back to the
10:38
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. Manchester United, a soccer club over in the UK,
10:44
Speaker 1: is for sale right now, and according to reports, Apollo
10:49
Speaker 1: Global is interested in perhaps becoming a partial owner of
10:54
Speaker 1: the club. Well, the fans of Manchester United they are
10:58
Speaker 1: not having it, and they have taken to writing letters
11:03
Speaker 1: and going crazy basically over the fact that somebody connected
11:07
Speaker 1: to Jeffrey Epstein might be moving on in to take
11:10
Speaker 1: over their football club. And I can't say that I
11:12
Speaker 1: blame them. I mean, look, Apollo Global moved here to
11:16
Speaker 1: Vegas and they took over Sanscorp here in Vegas, and
11:21
Speaker 1: even though Leon Black isn't involved for the most part,
11:25
Speaker 1: so they say, I still have no desire to go
11:28
Speaker 1: over to the Venetian and spend any of my money
11:31
Speaker 1: there now. And that's a personal choice, right. I'm not
11:34
Speaker 1: a boycott kind of person. I don't call for boycotts
11:36
Speaker 1: shit like that. Folks, do what they're gonna do. Nobody
11:39
Speaker 1: needs me over here directing the party. But personally, I'm
11:44
Speaker 1: not giving my money to any of these scumbags. And
11:47
Speaker 1: I told the story previously. On my flight home from
11:50
Speaker 1: New Mexico, when I went to Zoro Ranch, they were
11:52
Speaker 1: talking about a Barclays card over the intercom with a
11:57
Speaker 1: really good raid and a bunch of miles on it.
12:00
Speaker 1: And if it was any other bank, I probably would
12:03
Speaker 1: have gotten that card, But the fact that it was
12:05
Speaker 1: Barclays and all of the bullshit with Jess Staley, I
12:08
Speaker 1: can't stomach it, folks. I'm not putting my money in
12:11
Speaker 1: the pockets of these people. I'm just not doing it.
12:14
Speaker 1: And according to this article over here at the Daily Mail,
12:17
Speaker 1: these Manchester United fans, well they're not doing it either.
12:21
Speaker 1: So let's take a look at this article and let's
12:23
Speaker 1: see what has all of these Manchester United fans so
12:28
Speaker 1: wound up headline you are not welcome in Manchester United.
12:34
Speaker 1: Fangroup warned potential US equity firm Apollo off buying shares
12:38
Speaker 1: in the club, detailing their links to disgrace sex offender
12:41
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein. Hey, look again, I can't blame them. If
12:46
Speaker 1: my favorite football team, the New York Jets, was being
12:49
Speaker 1: bought by Apollo, I'd be pissed off about that too.
12:54
Speaker 1: A rebel fans group is threatening to damage the reputation
12:58
Speaker 1: of the company looking to buy a minority stake in
13:00
Speaker 1: Manchester United unless it abandons talks with the Glazer family
13:05
Speaker 1: before we go any further. Sorry, this article was authored
13:08
Speaker 1: by Chris Wheeler. So this fangroup is threatening to go
13:11
Speaker 1: ham and damage their reputation of the company. I don't
13:15
Speaker 1: know how they could do that, but I understand the sentiment.
13:19
Speaker 1: The boycott movement against the Glazers, which launched its hashtag
13:23
Speaker 1: not a penny More campaign last year at a target.
13:26
Speaker 1: United sponsors and the US owner's revenue streams, wrote an
13:30
Speaker 1: open letter to Apollo Global Management on Thursday, warning of
13:34
Speaker 1: the potential consequences if it doesn't pull out. The group
13:38
Speaker 1: brought up the links between Apollo's founder and former chief executive,
13:42
Speaker 1: Leon Black and disgraced financier You mean pedophile Jeffrey Epstein,
13:47
Speaker 1: the convicted sex offender who died in jail in twenty
13:50
Speaker 1: nineteen while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. So this
13:56
Speaker 1: group wrote a letter and that's the basis of the
14:00
Speaker 1: article here. We're gonna get to in a second. And
14:02
Speaker 1: they've had enough. They don't want they don't want anything
14:04
Speaker 1: to do with Leon Black, they don't want anything to
14:06
Speaker 1: do with Apollo Global, and they certainly don't want anything
14:08
Speaker 1: to do with Jeffrey Epstein. It called on fans to
14:14
Speaker 1: bombard the US firm with emails saying be respectful, but
14:18
Speaker 1: warn them, and to tweet hashta hashtag Epstein and Apollo. Look,
14:22
Speaker 1: I can get down with that. Go ahead and tweet
14:25
Speaker 1: hashtag Epstein and Apollo. That's cool. We all know that
14:28
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein was dig deep with Apollo Global, and we
14:31
Speaker 1: all know that Leon Black was a huge benefactor of
14:35
Speaker 1: Epstein's I mean, one hundred and sixty eight million dollars
14:38
Speaker 1: for advice. How many of you know of anyone that
14:42
Speaker 1: charges one hundred and sixty eight million for real estate
14:45
Speaker 1: advice or for advice about taxes. I hear hn R
14:48
Speaker 1: Block has a good deal going right now, and it's
14:51
Speaker 1: nowhere near one hundred and fifty eight hundred and sixty
14:53
Speaker 1: eight million dollars. Then Leon Black goes and says, ah,
14:57
Speaker 1: you know, we're not really that tight. We just had
15:00
Speaker 1: a couple of phone calls. Well, the reality of their
15:02
Speaker 1: relationship something completely different, according to all of the reports
15:06
Speaker 1: we've read here. And not only that, now we have
15:11
Speaker 1: miss Ganieva coming forward and saying that not only was
15:15
Speaker 1: Leon Black a scumbag as far as his regular behavior,
15:19
Speaker 1: well he was also abusing and hurting her sexually, according
15:25
Speaker 1: to her report. Now, if you're Manchester United, or you're
15:31
Speaker 1: the fans of this team, is that really the sort
15:34
Speaker 1: of nonsense that you need hanging over the squad? I
15:38
Speaker 1: would think that there's plenty of other rich people out
15:41
Speaker 1: there who would love to own a soccer team. The
15:46
Speaker 1: same group was behind the campaign that led to Manchester
15:48
Speaker 1: based company the Hut Group, pulling out of a two
15:51
Speaker 1: hundred million, two hundred million pound deal to become United's
15:54
Speaker 1: new training kit sponsors last year, days after the home
15:58
Speaker 1: game against Liverpool was postponed owned due to fan protests. Man,
16:02
Speaker 1: I didn't even know any of this was going on.
16:04
Speaker 1: To be honest with you, I don't really watch soccer
16:08
Speaker 1: too much. I mean, during the pandemic when NFL football
16:13
Speaker 1: was gone, I was watching a lot more of it,
16:14
Speaker 1: to be honest, but I'm not really following all of
16:18
Speaker 1: the ins and outs of the drama and stuff. I
16:21
Speaker 1: had no idea it was this bad over at Manchester,
16:24
Speaker 1: so bad that they protest getting some sponsors. You would
16:28
Speaker 1: think that having the sponsors would be a good thing, right,
16:30
Speaker 1: get you more players, more money for the squad, But
16:33
Speaker 1: I guess not. And when it comes to Apollo Global,
16:38
Speaker 1: they're certainly not in on it. More anti Glazer demonstrations
16:43
Speaker 1: are planned when Liverpool visits Old Trafford again on Monday.
16:48
Speaker 1: So here's the letter that they wrote. Dear bod, We'll
16:53
Speaker 1: make this brief. It has come to the attention of
16:56
Speaker 1: Manchester United supporters that your management group wishes to invest
17:01
Speaker 1: in our football club at the behest of the owners.
17:04
Speaker 1: Let us be blunt. Much like the reviled Glazer family,
17:08
Speaker 1: You are not welcomed in Manchester. Do not invest so
17:13
Speaker 1: right from Jump Street, they're making it pretty clear that
17:15
Speaker 1: they have no desire for Apollo Global and Leon Black's
17:19
Speaker 1: money to be invested in Manchester. Thanks to the boycotts
17:23
Speaker 1: and protests, the Glazer family ownership is now in its
17:27
Speaker 1: death throws. You will find no profit, no return on
17:30
Speaker 1: your investment, no lucrative carve up. For as long as
17:34
Speaker 1: the Glazer family owns our football club, we will not
17:37
Speaker 1: only sustain but also increase our initiatives and continue to
17:41
Speaker 1: depress the club's revenue streams that prop up the hateful
17:45
Speaker 1: absentee owners. Man, these dudes are not messing around. These
17:49
Speaker 1: people have had enough of their teams stinking, I guess,
17:52
Speaker 1: and they're blaming the Glazer family for it, saying they're
17:56
Speaker 1: absentee owners they're not involved, and they're probably right. I mean,
18:01
Speaker 1: when you get these billionaires who buy this sort of thing,
18:04
Speaker 1: this is a luxury for them. They're just a playtoy.
18:07
Speaker 1: They're not really going hard and wanting the teams to win.
18:11
Speaker 1: How many of these shitbag owners just use these teams
18:13
Speaker 1: as a revenue source? A whole lot of them. Supporters
18:20
Speaker 1: will no longer allow the club to be a piggy
18:23
Speaker 1: bank for unscrupulous owners or an asset stripping exercise for
18:27
Speaker 1: notorious equity firms, and that's exactly what Apollo is. Apollo's
18:32
Speaker 1: known to come in, break shit down, chop it up,
18:36
Speaker 1: ship it out, and carve it up. That's what they do.
18:38
Speaker 1: They don't come in as a white knight to save things.
18:41
Speaker 1: That's not Apollo's move. We say notorious because it has
18:49
Speaker 1: come to light that Apollo's founder Leon Black has a
18:52
Speaker 1: checkered past with disgrace sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including financial
18:56
Speaker 1: aid that sustained as sexual predation lifestyle, not to mention
19:01
Speaker 1: allegations of rape and sexual assault by Black himself. We
19:04
Speaker 1: note that your firm has had some rather unfortunate scandals
19:09
Speaker 1: regarding fraud. Yo, It's not every day that somebody puts
19:14
Speaker 1: Apollo Global on blast like this, and I'm here for it.
19:18
Speaker 1: The fans of Manchester United, this is awesome stuff right here.
19:22
Speaker 1: Anyone calling out Jeffrey Epstein's gross associates, I don't even
19:26
Speaker 1: care what the motivations are anyone calling them out, and
19:30
Speaker 1: I'm on board because they need to be called out.
19:32
Speaker 1: They're all gross, they're all disgusting, and the fact that
19:36
Speaker 1: they've been able to avoid the spotlight for this long
19:39
Speaker 1: is just beyond the pale. We say this genuinely and
19:45
Speaker 1: respectfully for the sake of your company, your subsidiaries, your assets.
19:50
Speaker 1: Do not go near our club. If you do, the
19:52
Speaker 1: biggest sports club supporter base in the world will do
19:55
Speaker 1: everything in our power to tarnish your reputation and ensure
19:59
Speaker 1: it's notonymous with everything you hoped the world had forgotten
20:03
Speaker 1: warmly the boycott movement against the Glazers. Yo, I am
20:07
Speaker 1: on board. By the way I did I mention that
20:10
Speaker 1: already anyone who was going after Leon Black is certainly
20:14
Speaker 1: an ally of mine. Black left Apollo in March last year,
20:18
Speaker 1: four months earlier than planned, and two months after an
20:21
Speaker 1: investigation revealed that he had paid Epstein one hundred and
20:25
Speaker 1: thirty two million pounds for financial advice between twenty twelve
20:29
Speaker 1: and twenty and seventeen. However, Apollo insisted that it had
20:34
Speaker 1: never retained Epstein for any services and that he did
20:37
Speaker 1: not invest any funds managed by the company, which is
20:41
Speaker 1: bs honestly in my opinion, considering Leon Black is the
20:44
Speaker 1: company or was should I say so, Epstein investing in
20:48
Speaker 1: him means he's investing in Apollo Global and Anyone saying
20:53
Speaker 1: any different is playing semantics. So I thought we'd add
20:58
Speaker 1: this one to the catalog, folks and show you that
21:00
Speaker 1: the outrage against Epstein his buddies is worldwide. It's not
21:06
Speaker 1: just you, it's not just people. You know, everybody's disgusted
21:10
Speaker 1: by this shit, and guess what everybody should be. If
21:16
Speaker 1: you'd like to contact me, you can do that at
21:17
Speaker 1: Bobby Kapuuchi at ProtonMail dot com. That's Bo Bby c
21:22
Speaker 1: ap u Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You can also
21:26
Speaker 1: find me on Twitter at Bobby Underscore c ap u Cci.
21:32
Speaker 1: The link that I discussed can be found in the
21:35
Speaker 1: description box. What's up everyone, and welcome back to the
21:39
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. You know what always amazes me when these
21:43
Speaker 1: lawyers who get up there and talk about how they're
21:46
Speaker 1: part of the Me Too movement or how they're believe
21:50
Speaker 1: all women or any of that stuff, and then they
21:53
Speaker 1: end up with a client like Leon Black. And today
21:58
Speaker 1: we're going to talk about a lawyer who did just that.
22:02
Speaker 1: And the person we're talking about is Daniel Perry. Now,
22:05
Speaker 1: she's an ex prosecutor and she has a pretty big
22:10
Speaker 1: reputation for going after powerful men. So it's pretty interesting
22:14
Speaker 1: that she would take Leon Black on as a client. Now,
22:19
Speaker 1: you could look at it in two different ways, right, A,
22:21
Speaker 1: she's just looking to get a bunch of money, you know,
22:24
Speaker 1: having this client knowing that he's going to pay out
22:27
Speaker 1: of the teeth for her services. Why not? Or B
22:31
Speaker 1: maybe she really believes them, Maybe she has seen some
22:34
Speaker 1: evidence that makes her believe that he's telling the truth.
22:39
Speaker 1: All we have so far are the competing statements by
22:43
Speaker 1: missus Gonieva and Leon Black. I'm inclined to believe Missus Gonieva,
22:48
Speaker 1: considering Leon Black was one of Epstein's confidants, somebody that
22:52
Speaker 1: was in Epstein's inner circle. So I have a hard
22:55
Speaker 1: time believing that this guy is innocent. But these lawyers
23:00
Speaker 1: like Lisa Bloom Gloria Allred, who act like they're these
23:04
Speaker 1: big champions of women who have been assaulted, and then
23:08
Speaker 1: they go and they they take clients like Leon Black
23:11
Speaker 1: or Harvey Weinstein. It just defies reasoning. So let's get
23:18
Speaker 1: into the article from Insider and let's see if they
23:20
Speaker 1: can provide a little context about her decision. Headline, Meet
23:25
Speaker 1: the lawyer who went from standing up to Eric Schneiderman
23:28
Speaker 1: and Andrew Cuomo to defending Leon Black. This article was
23:32
Speaker 1: authored by Casey Sullivan. Daniel Perry, a former federal prosecutor
23:39
Speaker 1: turned corporate lawyer, has a hard earned reputation for calling
23:43
Speaker 1: out abuse and standing up to powerful men, So that
23:47
Speaker 1: runs counter to the narrative right off the bat if
23:50
Speaker 1: you're dealing with Leon Black, this is a guy that
23:53
Speaker 1: should not be given the benefit of the doubt in
23:55
Speaker 1: my opinion, considering his associations. You want to hang out
23:59
Speaker 1: with those people, well, don't be mad or don't be
24:02
Speaker 1: bummed out when people tie you together with them, especially
24:06
Speaker 1: when there's one hundred and fifty eight million reasons why
24:09
Speaker 1: we should do so. So Leon Black is just an
24:12
Speaker 1: absolute bumbling fool in this regard. And it's a shrewd
24:16
Speaker 1: strategy obviously to bring Daniel Perry on board. You know,
24:21
Speaker 1: you have a woman. She can navigate this a little easier,
24:24
Speaker 1: a little better. You saw the same thing with Glen Maxwell.
24:27
Speaker 1: She brought in Bobby Sternham, and you know there's reasons
24:30
Speaker 1: for that. And Leon Black is a lot of things,
24:34
Speaker 1: but a shrewd businessman is certainly one of them as well.
24:41
Speaker 1: In twenty eighteen, she told a New Yorker journalist that
24:44
Speaker 1: Eric Schneiderman physically assaulted her two years earlier after a
24:49
Speaker 1: summer party in the Hamptons, an allegation the magazine described
24:52
Speaker 1: in a story that facilitated the attorney General's downfall. Hey, look,
24:57
Speaker 1: breaking news, bro, Stop assaulting people, pretty simple. You're a
25:02
Speaker 1: grown ass man. You can't even use the excuse how
25:05
Speaker 1: I was nineteen years old. We were drunk at a
25:07
Speaker 1: frat party, and even that's a shitbag excuse. But you're
25:11
Speaker 1: the general attorney general and you're over here going after
25:16
Speaker 1: women after some summer party up in the Hamptons. Here's
25:20
Speaker 1: an idea. If you're that much of a sex crazed lunatic,
25:24
Speaker 1: go call an escort service or something. Don't assault women.
25:30
Speaker 1: This past August, when Andrew Cuomo faced allegations of sexual harassment,
25:34
Speaker 1: Perry also told the magazine that the then governor once
25:38
Speaker 1: stymied her professionally by quashing an investigation into political corruption
25:43
Speaker 1: when it got too close to his allies. Well, we
25:46
Speaker 1: all know Cuomo was an utter piece of trash, an
25:50
Speaker 1: absolute bum scrub out here trying to use his position
25:54
Speaker 1: of power to manipulate people into relationships with him. All
25:58
Speaker 1: at the same time getting up there and berating everybody
26:01
Speaker 1: else for the way they were living their lives, or oh,
26:04
Speaker 1: this one's not wearing a mask, or that one's not
26:07
Speaker 1: wearing a mask. Meanwhile, this dude's out here live in
26:10
Speaker 1: his best life while the rest of everybody else is
26:12
Speaker 1: living in lockdown. Cuomo has never sat well with me.
26:16
Speaker 1: I've always thought of him as your prototypical, grifting, Tammany
26:21
Speaker 1: Hall politician. And for those of you who have seen
26:24
Speaker 1: the movie Gangs of New York, you know exactly what
26:28
Speaker 1: I mean when I say Tammany Hall, and that is
26:31
Speaker 1: the sort of person meaning Cuomo, that I envision when
26:34
Speaker 1: I think of your typical corrupt New York politician. Schneiderman
26:41
Speaker 1: cannot be reached for a comment for this story. A
26:44
Speaker 1: spokesperson for Cuomo said the former governor denied allegations of
26:47
Speaker 1: sexual harassment and that Cuomo did not face any criminal
26:51
Speaker 1: charges for allegations relating to his work with Perry, So
26:55
Speaker 1: that you know that ends it. He had no allegations,
26:58
Speaker 1: so well, don't ask any quest questions. Such a joke,
27:03
Speaker 1: and Cuomo and his whole entire team and staff, they
27:06
Speaker 1: have done this forever. Avoid any real question answering, and
27:11
Speaker 1: instead turn it back on the people asking the questions
27:14
Speaker 1: with scorn and sarcasm and the rest of it. Cuomo
27:19
Speaker 1: has always thought that he was your better. That is
27:23
Speaker 1: not the kind of person that should ever be elected
27:26
Speaker 1: to any kind of office. And I don't know how
27:30
Speaker 1: he woned New York. I mean, I guess the family
27:33
Speaker 1: name and all. But besides that, you would think that
27:35
Speaker 1: people in New York would be hip to the Cuomos
27:37
Speaker 1: by now, But I guess not. All right, folks, quick
27:42
Speaker 1: commercial break. But as the Cuomo drama unfolded, she had
27:47
Speaker 1: quietly taken on a new client, the billionaire investor Leon Black.
27:52
Speaker 1: So what it does for me anyway, is it makes
27:54
Speaker 1: you look sideways at all of the stuff she has
27:56
Speaker 1: done previously. Now again, I might be a bit biased
27:59
Speaker 1: to against mister Black because of his previous relationships with
28:03
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein, and I'm aware of that. I try to
28:06
Speaker 1: avoid following my confirmation biased into an abyss. But I
28:11
Speaker 1: can't shake the feeling that miss Ganiheva is telling the
28:14
Speaker 1: truth here. And when you see somebody like Miss Perry
28:18
Speaker 1: get involved and become a surrogate for Leon Black, just
28:23
Speaker 1: makes you shake your head and leaves definitely a bad
28:26
Speaker 1: taste in your mouth. He was the very kind of
28:31
Speaker 1: power figure. Perry had once made a name for herself
28:33
Speaker 1: by challenging, and he was going through a me too moment,
28:37
Speaker 1: a me two crisis of his own. The former Apollo
28:41
Speaker 1: Global Management CEO's former longtime lover, Guzelle Ganieva, filed a
28:47
Speaker 1: civil lawsuit last year accusing him of forcing sadistic sexual
28:51
Speaker 1: acts on her during their extra marital affair in the
28:54
Speaker 1: late two thousands and twenty tens. Blacks called the allegations
28:59
Speaker 1: a wholesale fiction and filed his own lawsuit against Ganieva.
29:03
Speaker 1: Now we know that they're going back and forth in
29:05
Speaker 1: court as we speak and trying to figure out what's
29:10
Speaker 1: real here, what allegations are true, which ones aren't. And again,
29:15
Speaker 1: I'm inclined to believe everything missus Gnieva has to say
29:18
Speaker 1: here because of the way Leon Black has conducted himself
29:22
Speaker 1: in the past. Now it might turn out that none
29:25
Speaker 1: of this is true and Leon Black is being targeted.
29:28
Speaker 1: That's why we'll have a trial. But boy, oh boy,
29:30
Speaker 1: I can't wait to get to discovery. Certainly, gonna talk
29:34
Speaker 1: a little bit about Epstein, No doubt about that, considering
29:37
Speaker 1: missus Gnieva says that Leon Black brought her to Florida
29:41
Speaker 1: one time to have sex with Jeffrey Epstein. To some lawyers,
29:47
Speaker 1: Perry's decision to defend Black, who resigned from Apollo after
29:50
Speaker 1: an investigation found he paid one hundred and fifty eight
29:53
Speaker 1: million to Epstein for tax and financial advice, doesn't match
29:57
Speaker 1: the Perry they've read about in the New Yorker. Yeah,
30:00
Speaker 1: that's usually the case, right. Money talks, And I'm not
30:03
Speaker 1: saying that that's the motivation for miss Perry here, but look,
30:07
Speaker 1: if you have a client like Leon Black and they're
30:10
Speaker 1: offering you millions of dollars for your service, has to
30:13
Speaker 1: be pretty difficult to decline that, right, And you know
30:16
Speaker 1: he is offering a bunch of money for her services.
30:22
Speaker 1: Perry told Insider she was persuaded to take the case
30:26
Speaker 1: after reviewing audio recordings and text conversations Black had with
30:30
Speaker 1: Ganiyeva and speaking at length with Black. This kind of
30:33
Speaker 1: comes off to me as like the George Bush moment
30:36
Speaker 1: with Vladimir Putin. Right, I sat at the table and
30:39
Speaker 1: I looked across from him, and I looked into his
30:42
Speaker 1: eyes and I saw he was a good person. Okay,
30:46
Speaker 1: George Bush, thanks buddy. Kind of the same thing here, right, Well,
30:49
Speaker 1: I had an extensive conversation with mister Black and I
30:53
Speaker 1: can tell you he did not do this. Okay, sure, great,
30:57
Speaker 1: glad you believe him. But I think that it's going
31:00
Speaker 1: to affect her persona moving forward, just like it has
31:04
Speaker 1: with Gloria Alred and with Gloria Alred's daughter, Lisa Bloom
31:12
Speaker 1: like so many others. I have myself endured sexual assault
31:16
Speaker 1: and harassment, and I do anything in my power to
31:19
Speaker 1: fight against it, Perry told Insider and emailed comments. But
31:23
Speaker 1: I will stand up against someone who is hijacking it
31:26
Speaker 1: and weaponizing it by falsely claiming sexual assault. That hurts
31:30
Speaker 1: the movement and hurts us all. So maybe miss Perry
31:34
Speaker 1: does believe that missus Ganieva is not telling the truth here,
31:39
Speaker 1: and we have to at the very least acknowledge that
31:42
Speaker 1: that might be the case. We haven't had a trial
31:44
Speaker 1: here yet, we haven't seen any evidence in court yet,
31:47
Speaker 1: so we'll have to see what happens. But when we're
31:51
Speaker 1: talking about any of Epstein's associates and somebody's accusing them
31:55
Speaker 1: of sexual assault, or being a sadistic, disgusting, depraved individual.
32:02
Speaker 1: I have to listen to what they have to say,
32:05
Speaker 1: because for how how long was it that nobody was
32:08
Speaker 1: listening to these survivors. So anytime somebody has these kinds
32:12
Speaker 1: of allegations, I got to perk up and we have
32:15
Speaker 1: to get all the evidence out there and see what's what.
32:18
Speaker 1: And that's certainly the way things are moving in this case,
32:21
Speaker 1: and things are moving relatively quickly here, so I'm sure
32:24
Speaker 1: we'll see some sort of trial at some point unless
32:27
Speaker 1: there is a settlement. Now, Miss Perry might move towards
32:31
Speaker 1: that and get Leon Black on board to do a
32:33
Speaker 1: settlement to save him some embarrassment, but who knows. One
32:38
Speaker 1: thing is for sure if it does get to the
32:40
Speaker 1: trial phase and we have discovery, my friends, it'll have
32:44
Speaker 1: a lot of Epstein stuff and it will be explosive.
32:50
Speaker 1: All right, folks, that's gonna do it for this episode.
32:52
Speaker 1: If you'd like to contact me, you can do that
32:54
Speaker 1: at Bobby Capuci at ProtonMail dot com. That's Bobby A.
33:00
Speaker 1: Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You can also find me
33:05
Speaker 1: on Twitter at Bobby underscore cap Ucci. The link that
33:11
Speaker 1: we discussed can be found in the description box. All right, folks,
33:15
Speaker 1: I'll be back later on with a little more hope
33:17
Speaker 1: that all of you are having a good day. What's
33:20
Speaker 1: up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein chronicles. Leon
33:25
Speaker 1: Black has been engaged in a battle royale, if you will,
33:30
Speaker 1: in the courtroom against his ex business partner and against
33:34
Speaker 1: Miss Guzelle Ganieva, who claims that Leon Black, who she
33:39
Speaker 1: was in a relationship with previously while Black was married,
33:43
Speaker 1: by the way, well, she says that Black assaulted her,
33:46
Speaker 1: abused her, and even tried to traffick her to Jeffrey Epstein. Now,
33:51
Speaker 1: of course, Leon Black he denies all of these allegations,
33:55
Speaker 1: and he fired back in a countersuit that this was
33:58
Speaker 1: all just a big concernspiracy to bring him down and
34:02
Speaker 1: that his ex business partner was behind all of it. Well,
34:06
Speaker 1: the judge certainly doesn't agree with them, as Leon Black
34:10
Speaker 1: and his legal team just took a big smack in court. Today,
34:14
Speaker 1: we have an article from Reuters headlined feeble but not
34:19
Speaker 1: frivolous Quinn Emmanuel escaped sanctions in the Leon Black case.
34:24
Speaker 1: So Quinn Emmanuel is the law firm representing Leon Black,
34:28
Speaker 1: and they had all these crazy allegations against the law
34:32
Speaker 1: firm Wigdor that is representing guzel Ganieva. So it's been
34:37
Speaker 1: this gigantic back and forth and finally a federal judge
34:41
Speaker 1: has just said, look, enough's enough. This article was authored
34:46
Speaker 1: by Alison Frankel. Billionaire financier Leon Black and his lawyers
34:52
Speaker 1: were socked with a full side of unflattering adjectives on Thursday,
34:58
Speaker 1: including feeble, do obviously, pled, legally, tenuous, and threadbare to
35:04
Speaker 1: describe the racketeering allegations they lobbed against law firm Wigdor,
35:08
Speaker 1: which represents an ex model who is accused Black of rape.
35:12
Speaker 1: And the reason they try and fire these sorts of
35:15
Speaker 1: allegations at other law firms of racketeering is to try
35:19
Speaker 1: and scare them off the case. They don't want to
35:23
Speaker 1: have to deal with Wigdor, So Quinn Emmanuel, of course
35:27
Speaker 1: they're going to make these allegations. Well, according to the judge,
35:31
Speaker 1: these allegations were baseless. The good news for Black and
35:37
Speaker 1: his council from Quinn Emmanuel, Urkhart and Sullivan and Estrich
35:40
Speaker 1: Golden frivolous is a step beyond feeble. So they just missed,
35:46
Speaker 1: just missed getting themselves sanctioned. Here, the narrow distance saved Black, Quinn, Emmanuel,
35:52
Speaker 1: and Estrich from being sanctioned under Rule eleven of the
35:55
Speaker 1: Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and a decision from the
35:59
Speaker 1: US District Judge Paul Engelmeyer of Manhattan. So they just
36:04
Speaker 1: missed out by the skin of their teeth getting sanctioned,
36:07
Speaker 1: Meaning there would have been some big time issues for
36:10
Speaker 1: the law firm here. You can't go around firing off
36:14
Speaker 1: frivolous lawsuits that have no basis in the law that's
36:18
Speaker 1: gonna come back and slap you directly in the grill.
36:21
Speaker 1: Engelmeyer teased out the threads of accusation and counter accusation
36:25
Speaker 1: in Whigdor's sanctions motion, Black's opposition and dispray of subsequent
36:30
Speaker 1: filings in an exceedingly vicious litigation. Ultimately, the judge said
36:36
Speaker 1: Black's allegation that Wigdor conspired with ex model Guzelle Ganieva
36:41
Speaker 1: and others to smear the Hedge Funds founder were thin,
36:44
Speaker 1: gruel and almost certainly would not have survived the dismissal
36:48
Speaker 1: motion if Black's lawyers hadn't voluntarily dropped the claim. So
36:52
Speaker 1: the lawyer saying, look, your claim is bull. It's thin gruel,
36:56
Speaker 1: and it would never have even lasted. If you're lawyers
37:00
Speaker 1: didn't voluntarily drop this claim, it would have been dismissed. Indeed,
37:08
Speaker 1: in a related decision on Thursday, Engelmeyer dismissed blacks rejigged
37:13
Speaker 1: racketeering claims against Ganieva and a business rival of Black.
37:17
Speaker 1: The judge declined to exercise jurisdiction over blacks remaining state
37:21
Speaker 1: law claims, tossing the case out of federal court. But
37:25
Speaker 1: Engelmeyer concluded in his sanctions ruling that Black's allegations against
37:29
Speaker 1: Whigdor included just enough substance, substance to preclude sanctions. So
37:35
Speaker 1: there was enough bs there in their pile of rule
37:39
Speaker 1: that kept them out of hot water. And I'm sure
37:42
Speaker 1: that they knew what they were doing. I'm sure that
37:46
Speaker 1: the law firm had, you know, every idea and went
37:51
Speaker 1: into it knowingly tiptoeing the line here. That's what they
37:54
Speaker 1: do all the time. They know that they're not going
37:56
Speaker 1: to get hit with real sanctions. These lawyers know what's up,
38:00
Speaker 1: and they know these judges right, So they go in
38:04
Speaker 1: there and they knew that they were not going to
38:06
Speaker 1: get sanctioned by the just by the skin of their teeth,
38:09
Speaker 1: and now the judges kicked it right out of federal court.
38:13
Speaker 1: Quinn Emmanuel, which withdrew as Black's counsel in the federal
38:16
Speaker 1: litigation after the initial complaint accusing Whigdor of racketeering but
38:22
Speaker 1: remained a party at a Whigdor's rule eleven motion, claimed
38:25
Speaker 1: victory from engel Meyer's ruling. We are pleased that the
38:29
Speaker 1: court agreed with our position that the sanctions motion was meritless,
38:33
Speaker 1: wrote Quinn co managing partner Michael Karlinsky in an email.
38:37
Speaker 1: We take our professional obligations very seriously, and the court's
38:41
Speaker 1: decision rejecting sanctions is validation. So these guys just get
38:46
Speaker 1: by with the skin of their teeth, and then they
38:48
Speaker 1: get out here and try and validate themselves by the
38:51
Speaker 1: judge's decision. It's like getting d's on your report card
38:54
Speaker 1: and going out there and cheering that you got these
38:57
Speaker 1: because you passed by the skin of your teeth. Black's
39:01
Speaker 1: council Susan Estridge said in an email statement that Black
39:04
Speaker 1: will appeal the dismissal of his federal court suit and
39:07
Speaker 1: will bring additional legal proceedings, presumably in New York State Court,
39:11
Speaker 1: where Ganieva is litigating a suit against the billionaire. Black
39:15
Speaker 1: remains confident that those responsible will be held accountable. Estrich said, Yeah,
39:20
Speaker 1: we all hope so too. We all hope that Black
39:23
Speaker 1: is held responsible. Mister Jeffrey Epstein's best buddy, what did
39:26
Speaker 1: he give Jeffrey Epstein one hundred and fifty eight million
39:29
Speaker 1: dollars for advice? I don't believe that, not for a second,
39:33
Speaker 1: and nobody else should either. Honestly, what sort of advice
39:37
Speaker 1: costs a cool one hundred and fifty eight million? Folks?
39:39
Speaker 1: You tell me Ganieva Council Jean Christiansen of Wigdor said
39:47
Speaker 1: the firm was gratified by Ingelmeyer's criticism of Black's pleadings
39:51
Speaker 1: in the dismissal decision. When Leon Black filed this frivolous
39:55
Speaker 1: federal lawsuit against our client, Guzelle Ganieva and our law firm,
40:00
Speaker 1: we said it was blatant retaliation because we spoke out
40:03
Speaker 1: about his sexual violence. Christensen said, we will be amending
40:07
Speaker 1: miss Ganieva's claims in New York in the New York
40:10
Speaker 1: Supreme Court to add mister Black's horrific retaliation, and that's
40:15
Speaker 1: what it was retaliation guys like this, No, if they
40:18
Speaker 1: retaliate most of the time, it's going to scare people away.
40:22
Speaker 1: Not everybody's Whigdor. Not everybody is willing to stand up
40:26
Speaker 1: and face people like Leon Black. They understand that it's
40:29
Speaker 1: not very cost efficient and that it could have some
40:33
Speaker 1: serious issues for you later on down the line when
40:36
Speaker 1: you go against a guy like this. But Wigdor doesn't care.
40:40
Speaker 1: They feel like they're in the right and they're going
40:42
Speaker 1: to defend their client all the way legally. The most
40:46
Speaker 1: intriguing part of Engelmeyer's sanctions decision was his analysis of
40:50
Speaker 1: whether lawyers can be accused of racketeering based largely on
40:54
Speaker 1: their litigation tactics. In this case, that's a multi layered
40:57
Speaker 1: question that requires some factual explanation. Ganieva filed her initial
41:03
Speaker 1: state court complaint in June twenty twenty one, alleging that
41:07
Speaker 1: during the course of a six year relationship, Black sexually
41:10
Speaker 1: assaulted her and eventually forced her to sign a twenty
41:13
Speaker 1: fifteen non disclosure agreement. Black, who contends that he has
41:18
Speaker 1: given Ganieva millions of dollars in the course of their
41:21
Speaker 1: consensual affair, countered that Ganieva's lawsuit was a shakedown. Of course,
41:26
Speaker 1: that's what he said. That's what all of these rich
41:29
Speaker 1: dudes say, right, Oh, it's a shakedown. It's all about
41:31
Speaker 1: my money. Well, here's an idea. You don't want to
41:34
Speaker 1: get shaked down. He elaborated on that theory in the
41:38
Speaker 1: federal court litigation he launched in October of twenty one,
41:41
Speaker 1: asserting that Whigdor in Ganieva had teamed up with an
41:45
Speaker 1: unnamed litigation funder and public relations experts to tar Black's name.
41:51
Speaker 1: Black's amended complaint identified the purported funder as financier Josh Harris,
41:57
Speaker 1: a one time rival of Blacks at Apollo Global Management.
42:01
Speaker 1: Harris has denied that he even knows Ganieva, let alone
42:04
Speaker 1: that he conspired with her a one time rival. No,
42:08
Speaker 1: they were co founders him, Rowan, and Black founded Apollo together.
42:15
Speaker 1: Black's original complaint in federal court alleged that Ganieva's suit
42:19
Speaker 1: in New York State court was a sham. The litigation,
42:22
Speaker 1: he alleged, was just part of a vast legal and
42:25
Speaker 1: media blitz to wound and humiliate Black and Wigdor. According
42:30
Speaker 1: to Black, was at the heart of the campaign. No
42:33
Speaker 1: nobody needed to do that for you, mister Black, your
42:35
Speaker 1: relationship with Epstein and the rest of your dealings with him,
42:40
Speaker 1: that pretty much did it for you. Wigdor's Rule eleven
42:46
Speaker 1: motion argued that it was Black who was engaging in
42:49
Speaker 1: sham litigation. Ganieva's lawyers alleged that Black had accused Whigdor
42:53
Speaker 1: of racketeering in an attempt to punish the firm for
42:56
Speaker 1: bringing Ganieva's suit and perhaps to scare Wicked Door off
43:00
Speaker 1: the case it was particularly egregious. Wigdor argued for Black
43:05
Speaker 1: to engage in its own sham litigation, alleging a racketeering
43:09
Speaker 1: conspiracy that relied entirely, at least with respect to Whigdor
43:13
Speaker 1: on Wigdor's actions as Ganieva's counsel. So you're gonna go
43:17
Speaker 1: after lawyers for representing people. That's what you do. If
43:20
Speaker 1: you have big money, You try and win any way
43:23
Speaker 1: you can. Engelmeyer found that Whigdor hadn't sufficiently shown Black's
43:30
Speaker 1: only motive to be harassing and bullying the law firm.
43:33
Speaker 1: He also found that there is precedent for racketeering conspiracies
43:37
Speaker 1: between lawyers and clients. Lawyers can't be liable under RICO
43:41
Speaker 1: simply for providing legal services, Engelmeyer said, But Black also
43:46
Speaker 1: accused Whigdor of a legal conduct engineering defamatory press coverage
43:51
Speaker 1: of Black beyond prosecuting Ganijeva's case in court. Give me
43:55
Speaker 1: a break. Nobody needs to go on any kind of
43:58
Speaker 1: mission to give you bad press, Leon Black. The allegations
44:04
Speaker 1: were sparse, Englemeyer said, But a law firm is not
44:08
Speaker 1: presdentially foreclose from participating in the operation and management of
44:12
Speaker 1: a RICO enterprise such that the pleating stands no chance
44:16
Speaker 1: of success. Interestingly, the judge suggested that Wigdaor's case for
44:20
Speaker 1: Rule eleven sanctions might have been stronger if the firm
44:23
Speaker 1: had been able to prove its allegation that Quinn Emmanuel
44:27
Speaker 1: offered to drop Black's RICO claim against Whigdor if the
44:30
Speaker 1: firm would first provide information linking its client to Black's
44:34
Speaker 1: business rival. So they're saying there was some quid pro
44:37
Speaker 1: quo there, But the judge said that was never proven,
44:40
Speaker 1: so that's why the case ended up dying. But because
44:46
Speaker 1: Quinn Emanuel disputed Whigdoor's account of the conversation between Karlinsky
44:50
Speaker 1: and its defense counsel, Engelmeyer said he could not reliably
44:54
Speaker 1: resolve this swearing contest. I've said before that the Black litigation,
45:00
Speaker 1: it's two of the most aggressive litigation shops in New
45:03
Speaker 1: York against each other. I have a feeling that Engelmeyer's
45:06
Speaker 1: rulings will only prompt both sides to sharpen their weapons. Yeah,
45:11
Speaker 1: this is gonna go on for a while, this battle
45:13
Speaker 1: between Black and uh Missus Ganieva, It's definitely going to
45:18
Speaker 1: go on for quite some time. And these are just
45:20
Speaker 1: the opening salvos, folks. So we'll keep on top of
45:23
Speaker 1: it and we'll see where it all leads. If you'd
