Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: is and gentlemen, the Buccaneers get it done in the front office with Jason Light.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Baker Mayfield is staying in Tampa Bay for a good bit longer with a massive deal, shocking the NFL.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe some Bucks fans too, but they extend him on a three year deal, $55 million per year
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: in the league, we are going to talk about that.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: The full details in that contract.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: How much guaranteed money is made field getting?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: Also, too, where does he rank among all of the top quarterbacks?
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we will also discuss how this affects the other buccaniers in their contract years because it certainly does affect some of his guys.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, you look over there at Cody Mount there at the offensive line.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: How does it affect
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: in fact impact those guys.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: But man, a stunner just five days away from kickoff against the bangles on the road before this 2026 season with me on this beautiful Tuesday evening is River Wells, our lead editor at buxgameday.com.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: Here we are.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Once again, a surprise, it's been this way throughout this off season with the video via a situation, the Baker Mayfield
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: And then, both of these deals eventually do get done, but River, you were in the shower for all of this, you had to jump out and see the text and all the messages from us in, hey man, by the way, the Baker contract happened, how are we doing man?
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's hard to have an opinion on it without seeing the guarantees and we will see the guarantees.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully, maybe when we're on the show, we'll be acting them a lot.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how it goes.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I have thoughts, we'll get into them.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: But at the base, Bucks and Bigger may feel got it done.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they were both looking to get this deal done throughout the whole off season Jason light never wavered and saying that he was really really a big fan of Baker Mayfield.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: One of them to be the franchise quarterback, Baker Mayfield also saying as well, you know, Tampa's my home.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be in Tampa Bay.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: And now he is for the next four seasons.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: He will be locked in with Tampa Bay.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: He will play out the last year to his current deal.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then his new deal will start the year after that.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he will.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: So let's go through some of this contract details like you just said river though we will look and we might get those guaranteed numbers here while we are live so if you're with us in the chat we love to hear your reaction to bring up your comments because I like seeing the fan base is reaction you can have we can have ours river and our team at bucks game day, but
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: The fans reaction is one that I always look forward to seeing, so please throw it over there.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: But let's go into it a three year, like you were just saying there.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: I remember that keeps them all the way through that 2029 season 55 million dollars per year.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: That would make it at $165 million over all for him as previous contract as we know is a
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Jason lied, we had just spoken with him recently, and he told us, you know, the negotiations were kind of wrapped up and told, you know, after the season or maybe during the season, something could come up, he said, it's the NFL, you never know what could happen, but it seemed like the hind closed doors.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: This got re-agnited before week one.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: And here you are.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Baker Mayfield now heads into this season where we thought, you know, he was already going to have a massive chip on his shoulder.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that goes completely out of the window just because of how Baker Mayfield plays football.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: But that is now settled.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you're not going to have a guy that is angry and pissed off any more in Tampa, May River.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, that chip on a shoulder.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it'll stick around for some reason or other, right?
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to have bigger people to operate.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: But the contracting, and if you remember, you know, Logan, we were there for his press conference at training camp.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: He was not happy.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: He seemed to be playing with that fire of like, oh, I'll approve it and I'll make them pay me.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: But we haven't really gotten to that point now.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's got the extension he wants.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's locked down long term.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: He got the number.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: He won.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: He won over 50 million right now looking like 55
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: obviously got to see how the guarantees shape out before we can truly kind of evaluate the contract and how it works.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: But that will put him along the lines of Joe Burrow, of Jordan Love players like that, of Trevor Lawrence, right in the similar sort of vein, getting paid, like a top 10 quarterback, the books think he is a top 10 quarterback.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: He definitely thinks he can play a top 10 quarterback, and that's why we are here today.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: So we just have a press release from the Buccaneers side.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: We have multiple comments on here from Jason Lighten also to ownership of the bucks.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go through that real quick.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: Here's a quote from Joel Glazer, one of the Buccaneers, owners or co-chairmen of the Buc St. Baker's arrival marked an important new chapter for our organization.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: And over the past three years, he has established himself as the unquestioned leader of our franchise.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: This contract, the largest and the history of the Tammy Buccaneers, which is true and very worth noting, reflects our belief in Baker and his leadership both on and off the field.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: His competitive spirit, resilience, and commitment to winning and body everything we want in our players.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: Baker and his wife Emily have made a meaningful impact in the Tambe community and we are thrilled.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Their family will continue to call Tambe home four years to come now we move over to Jason Light.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what he had to say.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Said from the moment Baker arrived, he brought a belief in competitive edge
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: He has earned the respect of everyone in our building, with the way he prepares, competes, and holds himself accountable.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: His toughness and ability to deliver in big moments are a big part of what makes him special, but what really stands out is his leadership that he brings every day.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Baker is the heart beat of this team, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have a quarterback and leader like him.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: We also got a quote here, guys, from Todd Bowles himself, saying Baker is the ultimate competitor, and the guys in our locker room feed off the energy confidence and toughness he brings daily.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: He prepares the right way, holds himself accountable and is unquestioned leader for our team.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: His belief in himself and this team never wavers and he sets the tone for us every day.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: that is what you want from the person leading your football team and we are excited to continue building with him as our quarterback.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, River, I mean, we have spoken with Jason like plenty of times over this offseason, once during training camp and that interview that we had most recently with him.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: But it has been kind of the same message here that you see in this press release from the entirety of this box at one buck with Jason Light,
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Todd Bowles.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: The leadership factor is something that I think the buck certainly wanted to find help in after losing my heavens this year and also to Levantay David.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Baker stepped up kind of immediately once he arrived but really has taken on this team as his own this year.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: Just your reaction to what you just heard there from some of those quotes.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: I do want to get it to that.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: I will say those the guarantees.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here we go.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, friends.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: So looking like 110 million in new guarantees on top of the 40 million he was already going to earn this year.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: So 150 million in guarantees total through 2029 that 110 million new guaranteed money will be guaranteed against injury.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: So fully guaranteed.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: So basically from our good friend, Josh Cable, a peer to report, a big cap guy.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys like the sort of cap stuff, you can follow him, but he mentions that 2026 to 208 guaranteed, because the effect of the same offer the bucks had out last month, McGurrenty's standpoint.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's that two years, 100 million kind of offer that we believe that the buck and years had given him during training camp that Baker did not take.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it means they give them a third new year's effectively a team option, so Baker gets his extra year, the buck's sand pad on guarantees.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: So overall, um, not bad, not bad, especially given that it was the previous sort of guarantees that the buck's wanted to give, but make, or maybe he'll now get that XT option extra year, get some guarantees through 2020-9.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, overall not a bad bit of business from the box, if you really believe in Baker Mayfield and want to keep around, which clearly based on those quotes that you just mentioned him being a fiery competitor of the energy he brings in the room.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: How beloved he is in the building.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: They all make sense from that perspective why they wouldn't want to do this.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we were discussing, we'll talk further on in two in this episode, but he has that massive year under Liam Cohen who is now the Jaguar's head coach who just won double digits last season for them in Jacksonville, but has a fantastic season and then last year was from him himself, you know, was disastrous, you know, the offense going to get clicking there.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: a lot of different components of that.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: You can talk about injuries across the entire off, and certainly if the baker may food what you opened up in it, that Netflix documentary, this off season, and then you look over at the wide receiver room, like Evans dinged up, you know, a macket book, had to step in as a rookie.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: He looked over there, Jayle McMillan got injured in the preseason who was having a great rookie year, the year prior, and an offensive line was just a wreck all across.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's starting five, never played a game with each other.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: Bucky Irving was injured there too.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: It was just a rough going all together for that side of the ball and the defense certainly didn't help.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: That's a whole different conversation there.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, now the bucks are certainly banking on a massive turnaround this upcoming season under a new offensive coordinator river, which you and I are in and also two Caleb and rest of our bucks game day staff are behind this offense to see how that is going to look.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to get a first look at that against a bangles team that has not played well defensively and certainly not in early games to kick off the seasons.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's going to be a big thing.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously how Mayfield worked with the new offensive coordinator has been pretty telling for his career.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about obviously Liam Cohen being a huge factor in his huge 24 year, remember he threw over 40 touchdowns, had the most productive year.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's ever had his corner back.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then in 2025, Joshua's hard comes in.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: Things aren't looking so good.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Making video plays through injuries that we saw.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk a lot about that later.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_01]: I was feeling when it comes to the positive negatives of resigning him.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't end up going well there.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: And now he's got Zach Robinson who he worked with in 2022 in Los Angeles.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson was the quarterback's coach there.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: And it's going to be interesting to see how he reacts to Robinson's offense, see if Robinson takes some cues from Lee and Cohen, one of his best friends, by the way, or if he sticks to what he did in Atlanta, use some concepts there, and if things go right, and Robinson is able to get the absolute most that it may feel as a passer in the same way that Lee and Cohen did.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: then he'll earn his contract and more, but there's a possibility that it goes the other way to.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Robinson struggles.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't struggles in Atlanta.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: Mayfield struggles.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: He had some big struggles last year, and then it wouldn't look so nice.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: But the bucks don't think it's going to happen.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: They think that he's going to go out there and play great football, and they wouldn't have given him this contract otherwise, and they have faith in Robinson.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: as well.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: The bucks are excited about this year.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think they've made that clear to the press conferences.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_01]: They've made it clear through their actions, what they've done, who they've signed, who they've resigned, and the crux of that is bigger may feel, and that was the last domino to fall, and clearly Jason Light and Taubles want him in to have a very long term.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, one thing, you know, Mike Evans over there with the 49ers now, the bucks did have some additions this off season to the offensive, to continue to pump that side of the ball with Baker Mayfield.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: They went and grabbed in the third round.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Tettahers too, we saw plenty just because Jail McMillan was injured in the inning, Booga as well.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: So you got to see your third round pick at a lot of those opportunities a lot of opportunities with the ones earlier than expected I mean Jason light is really excited about him.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think the game plan moving into this season was just kind of just slowly develop the kid But her says just came on and then kind of an animal.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean showed you an M camp who's making splash Please you're starting corner backs, which that's a that's a whole other conversation.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have that in another episode as we talk about maybe some
- 13:15[SPEAKER_00]: or some things to watch out for.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe some concerns, defensively, but her showed you that he is a special talent.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: And it is going to take a little bit more, some developmental time, but when I asked Jason Light, you know, he was pretty shocked by how quickly hers was able to get things going.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: So you make that addition there, a wider receiver.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: Also, too, you brought in Kenny Gainwell, and you matched that in tandem with Bucky Irving
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: easy and this season and so you bring it back to this healthy offensive line.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: That group is together now, Jason Worf's coming back from that hamstring injury that he suffered just in a conditioning test going into training camp, but he's ready to rock, he's ready to go, he's told us that he's been super excited for this season coming up with Baker, because I asked Tristan when we were up there in Jacksonville, River, like
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're his best friend.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all two are so close.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: What was it?
- 14:15[SPEAKER_00]: What has it been like with him this entire off season?
- 14:17[SPEAKER_00]: Going through this all the contracts.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_00]: So because they're certainly talking about it, we know that.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_00]: But he said, man, Bucks fans should be excited for a pissed off and it's going to be kind of a show.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's just happy to be a part of that train ride.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_00]: But now it's done.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's over with none of that kind of distraction is there at all the beat of band thing gets done.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: And now you get figured done.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: And you've got a healthy team.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we've, I've been, right now going to the season.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: You certainly do.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, like you were just saying, River, that this team has felt very optimistic going into this season overall.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: And given that, expectations are pretty high.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: You've got a team that went eight and nine last year, had a big skid, lost seven or the last nine games.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want to repeat that.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want that to happen again.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Light broadened some big attitude guys, some big, you know, high character players like Aixion Robinson, a kingdom of Russia,
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: Alex Angeloni, Josiah Trotter, who from the new depth chart we saw is starting at inside linebacker alongside Angeloni.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: You'll see him on Sunday, getting some work done.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's a big culture change.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: And when it comes to culture like that, I don't think anyone would argue that may feel it hasn't displayed those very things the books have wanted in everybody.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: right and he's the leader of this team and the books have gotten more players who can kind of help instill that mentality across the entire team but it all starts and ends up may fields and that mentality and that want to win and that grit and arguably sometimes too much grit when he's in the field and he's going towards the linebacker but the team's love them for that and the front office is love them for that and Jason Lights talked about it all the time and I'll talk about it all the time
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: and Tristan Worse, one of his best friends is talking about it all the time.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: That he can't wait to block for me if he'll block for six, as he says his number clearly.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: And there's definitely a big amount of excitement brewing in the building and in the room.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it's hard to imagine that this deal wouldn't help contribute to that, especially because a lot of these players have spoken out saying they won't be able to get paid, they think he deserves it.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's the leader of the team, leader of the locker room.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: And now that he has that money, that's got to be a pretty big rejuvenating shot with the rest of the team because it means that, oh, everyone believes enough to get it done.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: They all believe in us to go out there when the NSC South essentially do more from top bowls down in Jason White to the owners, the glaciers, everybody and that signals that they're serious about winning.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: They want to invest money in players that they think will help them win and clearly when you look at how Jason White and top bowls have gone about this off season, the rhetoric they've given off, they do believe that Baker Mayfield is one of the premier factors to help them win football games.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the bucks have a practice tomorrow morning.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be there for that and we get to hear from from Baker Baker Mayfield himself practice begins at 1140.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll have full coverage that 11 instant reaction on what Baker may feel that to say Todd Bowles and whatever else the locker room has to say because we will have an open locker room for interviews and we'll still see a little bit of practice too By going back to you know taking care of your players if you go
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: and see what they've been able to do with some of the top guys that they have paid.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_00]: Baker Mayfield now sits at the very top.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: He sets the buck and years franchise record with that contract.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Tristan Worf slots in at number two whenever he got his deal signed in August of 2024 for $140 million.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: Antoine Linfield Jr. at number three when he signed back in May of 2024,
- 18:06[SPEAKER_00]: make him the highest paid defensive back in the league.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Evans then and you know going through his five year contract 82 and a half million and a number five is Ali Marpet 54 million dollars at that guard position for five years helping establish and build that foundation for a super bowl.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_00]: run that he did, but yeah, Baker now at the very top, they obviously feel like there is some confidence behind Baker.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: He's healthy.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: That was one thing.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: You could tell, you know, he put some work in during this off season and think he's a little bit more chiseled up.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, well, your takeaways just have how he played in camp overall, just, you know, you were able to go and high to that Jacksonville joint practice wasn't pretty for the first day and then the
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Really no pads on didn't have a whole lot of time against the jacks, but just how did Baker look to you this offseason a hungry baker too?
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Bigger was definitely hungry and he was proving that he wanted this extension and he got it.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think over only played pretty well, I'm always a big fan of quarterbacks in training camp who really pushed the boundary and try and get the ball out there, make risky throws, throw and traffic, and maybe it's really good about that, testing the limits of what you can achieve before the regular season starts is very important in training camp.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: So the biggest reasons why quarterbacks have this sort of thing going on and he deflated that.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think for sure.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: He absolutely did that.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: I like to see that.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: He made some pretty good throws.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think the biggest thing we've been concerned about you and I talking is one of the biggest concerns with Mayfield overall as a pastor and that's his deepball efficiency.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think there was some throws he had during training camp and I'm sure you would agree if you don't please, you know, try them in that his deepball accuracy is a little bit shaky.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: over the course of training camp.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: And if you look at the stats guys it's not good there either.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: Last year during weeks one through eight when a lot of people thought that may feel was playing like an MVP candidate if you recall.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: The box more six and two during that time.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: He had a deep ball accuracy completion percentage of nine for 35 so it's 28th out of 33 qualifying quarterbacks in the second half.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: He got really really hurt one of the least efficient quarterbacks in the NFL during that second half.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: uh... he is the bulk of the placement for five twenty four and that is that was thirty first thirty four one quarter back so that's a big area of his passing in my think he's really really shrug up with uh... over the past few years Liam Cohen in Tampa Bay made him throw a little bit shorter and quicker and it's focused on the acuards over big splash plays josh gizard wanted to bring back the long-developing explosive plays in the past game didn't quite work partially because may feel it wasn't really hitting those deep shots so
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: Other than that, I thought he played pretty well in camp, and it just camp.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: So there's not really a huge thing.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we got to look into how he played and we got to, you know, Michael analyst throws, but that's one of the biggest things I took away from camp.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's one of the biggest things that may feel really needs to work on as a passer as it stands.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: He's quite poor.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think in that area as a quarterback.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was the thing that I was watching closely with with Chandler Wemmer coming in the new quarterback scoach How he was going to implement some things to fix stuff.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was first with the feet and the pocket and taking care of little things there and then also to the pump fake Pump big with the ball.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_00]: What's usually ends up and the other teams hands like that it seemed like there was some little bits of that But not as much as we've seen and previous cancer before and like you said, it's hard to fully evaluate
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: camps.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they had two joint practices or two joints with, you know, the jets and then also to the Jaguars.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jets, not so, not so pretty, not so great up there.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_00]: Not expecting a big season from them under Aaron Glenn in year two, but you got to go against the Jags and Liam Cohen, and that wasn't a pretty siding there, but you are in-world limited at the offensive line position, which was in worse being out.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: and you had kind of a turned style or revolving door of tackles being thrown in their school wasn't healthy.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that room too.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: So they were limited at parts of camp, but just looking at the deep ball like you were just mentioning
- 22:24[SPEAKER_00]: There were sometimes where Zach was trying that throughout, you know, practices during the off season and things just weren't as consistent as the thing that we're going to continue to watch as we go into the year.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: And there's been some times.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, last year where some big time plays are made, but then there's also times where things are offered missed opportunities aren't there with you.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: And there's kind of no excuse at this point now because you have this healthy offensive line.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: You have a ridiculous amount of talent at the widersy reposition and certainly loaded
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: At running back like the running room or the running game should help you a lot offensively you shouldn't have to be so worried about what you're doing in the past game Just depending on your preparation for that game and so There are not a lot of excuses right now for Baker now.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: You got to play to the money that you just got paid for and with that I'm going to go through a couple of the comments and here we want to hear your reactions to this contract extension and then we are going to go through the rankings of
- 23:21[SPEAKER_00]: the top paid quarterbacks and where Baker may feel fully slots into there.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this is from Elmo loves the bucks saying good deal.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_00]: Just hope that he stays healthy and that's so, you know, a very important factor there, ever.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he does need to make sure he takes care of himself this year.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure Jason Light and the top management have had that conversation before.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, this deal gets signed.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_01]: They've said as much.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: They've talked about it in press conferences.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_01]: They've spoken on that that yes, absolutely.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: He needs to take better care of himself.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: Stay healthy.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: I think bigger may feel it knows that.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: I acknowledge that.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a concern with him, right?
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he was pretty injured at the back half of the last season.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's an argument that he put himself in a little out of fire for some other injuries that he had.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's one thing to be a gritty player.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's one thing to play a lot of energy.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's another to run into a linebacker and weak one of the regular season.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: Trying to get a burst down.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: And sometimes that can, you know, don't do the bikings thing again, stuff like this game.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but because he quite frankly, he was very bad at the back of the last season while injured.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: He was playing through injury, whether or not that's what it was or not.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: He was a very unproductive quarterback and he's getting this extension off the back half of that season.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_01]: So that tells you how much Jason Lighten company, believe in him, he plays one of the worst football he's played, maybe in his career at the back half of the year, and now he's extended for three years, hundreds of $5 million.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's definitely going to be a point of emphasis for the book.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Jason Lighten has insinuated as much top bulls, as it's insinuated as much, and I'm sure a bigger Mayfield understands that.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and one certain thing is, you have a backup quarterback who is going to be an undrafted rookie that they're riding with.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_00]: That's true.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_00]: What Jalen Daniels after moving on from Jake Browning.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: This is Jacob in the chat.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: Don't think it's Browning though.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe saying we overpaid.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_00]: What about the side that are saying overpaid?
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think there's fair opinions on this.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: And even whenever we were talking in the chat, your reaction was oops.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: for Baker, I think there's an argument there, I think for sure, he's compared people comparing him to that contract with Trevor Lawrence, I think Trevor Lawrence is also kind of overpaid.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think Baker may feel that a lot of really good stuff, and we can talk about that more depth, but 98.4 pass rating since 2023, 13,18 yards, 103 touchdowns in 54 games, including playoffs,
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: But there are some pretty significant concerns with Mayfield since he's come to Tampa Bay in 2023, right?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Since 2023, he has the most fumbles in the NFL 32.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Since 2023, he's been sacked the fourth most times in the NFL, the 125.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Since 2023, he has the most turnovers, including the playoffs of any quarterback and football with 48.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Allen, I believe it's right below at 47.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: So those are all things to consider when you want to pay a quarterback a lot of money, right?
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: He fumbles the ball.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: He holds on to the ball a lot.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: He takes more sacks as a result.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: And he's led the NFL in turn over since he's been with the teammate, Buccaneers in 2023.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want any of that stuff.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: Those are all negatives.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so far in the last three seasons, those aren't things that have, you know, arguably,
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: shown massive improvement with going forward.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: That being said, the buck's clearly believe in those positives.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: The way he's been able to play, that first stretch he had last season, that Liam Cohen season, where he's going to be a super productive.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: They believe in those positives more than those negatives and they want him and his attitude and the team, you know, centered mindset that he brings, how good he is as a leader in the locker room.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's some concerns.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: I listed a few of those concerns.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: His deep-all concerns are not only just talked about yet a very, very poor, deep-all accuracy, a stint last season.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot to be concerned about worried about when it comes to paying a bigger maybe this much life a long term, especially given the situation the books might be in next year should they underperform and top bowls or someone else in the front office.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: gets fired.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: That would be an interesting thing to talk about.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you have to lure a new post, hit a bay off of a losing record and you've just paid a quarter back $165 million that would be an interesting thing to go if there are.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: So there's definitely some more raising concerns and things to note when it comes to this contract.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's also played a lot of really good productive football.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's shown he can do that.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: He has won the best games and best seasons of his career in Tampa Bay.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: The bucks think that that Baker may feel's going to show up more than the other one does.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'll go in here coming in and saying thanks for the shoutout guys.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_00]: I listen from France and really have to go to bed at his 12 30 in the morning over there and France appreciate you and shout out.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: exactly shout out to the international fans coming in here and getting some scoop before they head to bed.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go through some other comments in here.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is coming from disappearing boy 2010 saying Baker has statistically been better than many other quarterbacks that are getting paid.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the media love, good, he finally got paid.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is from Nadie Daddy.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: Love that.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: Nadie Daddy's used to drink and college rough.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: Those are rough.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you do that.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: Those taste like gasoline.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: I went to Nadie Ises, but Nadie Daddy's are a different animal.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: But he has to say Chris Godwin gone after this year.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: Ya Ya and Cody Malk to probably.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_00]: Do we want to jump into that conversation?
- 29:05[SPEAKER_00]: Cause I know I brought that up at the beginning of the show.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_00]: We can.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: I think, yeah, DeAbi, should have a really good year, it's probably going to get locked up by HIPAABAD, it's probably one of the focal point of their offseason negotiations would go, especially if he can be a good tenum with revenge, you know, he will be expensive, you know, probably over $23 million for a year as new contract.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: But Cody Moch, I think we talked about this slogan.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: If Cody Moch has like a decent year with how gone contracts have gone,
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: right, it feels like that's going to be a cap casual to you going forward like the books have had a few different times over the last few seasons.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: So that'll be interesting, especially because it the line plays really well in gels together, that's going to be a decision that you make between these two players.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like immediately I don't know if we're going to be able to keep both of those players.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: But you might be able to keep one, and I think Diabee as a past rusher would be probably more important from a team-building standpoint than Malk, but having great players in the trenches either way is important.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: So if the buck's decide that Malk is really didn't take onto their offensive line, they might try and get something done.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: It just feels like with how these guard contacts have gone up recently.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's this offseason in particular a few guards have gotten paid.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like it would be tough to keep him if he has a pretty good year.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Cody Malk has been a guy coming back from injuries and he wanted to watch I mean there hasn't been any sign where there's been some woes throughout camp on him so can't can already identify what he's going to look like this season but yeah that might be one of those guys that is a cap casualty that you are going to have to deal with and if you go over to Yaya Diabiam it's been very clear to us river and you can attest this probably I mean
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: Todd Bowles loves him.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: Todd Bowles does love some Yaya Diabe.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: You've heard it from Jason Light 2 and you could expect for a big season from Diabe.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_00]: Now you add him alongside Ruben Bane.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: just went all in and to the trenches on the interior to help out those two guys on the edge.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: You added depth also too and that outside linebacker position and I thought y'all had a really really good camp from this and he has told us straight up that he was one of the happiest guys once the ribbon-bained junior pick came in because it was clear
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: He needed help on the other side of the ball.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: He just got so much attention in the last few years and he's like man Okay, I got has Hassan Reddick and here that was always going to have to be a hope for a dream type situation if Reddick was able to kind of come back to that play that he showed you Multiple years ago, but that wasn't the case.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: He couldn't stay healthy and there was he did nothing for you.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: That was a failure there
- 31:54[SPEAKER_00]: And so what the, what the Jason light do?
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you reload there, you got very lucky what they ain't coming in and you reloaded on the inside.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you're expecting a big season from what we've seen from number zero and that bookstores that you're seeing on your screen right there.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's going to be interesting, especially because we talked about this boom, bane that in college finishing stacks was a thing that, you know, we were watching out for, I think bane had eight and a half sacks last year, never a clips double digit sacks at Miami, and the same thing we've talked about with the idea of a, I think, really high pressure player.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, getting after the quarterback, but hasn't been able to really wrap up and finish those attacks and we just talked to him actually on Monday during their bonus practice.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_01]: He said that's the biggest thing I'm working on this year is trying to finish some sacks get those numbers up.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think I mean, I predicted, I figured on our streams that I think, yeah, I'm just going to lead lead the team in sacks for sure.
- 32:55[SPEAKER_01]: And he could be the leading sack guy in Tampa Bay.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're basically going to get a lot of pressures and feed those quarterbacks back his way.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: And after the season that he had last year, I'll be able to capitalize on that.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: Get some sex.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: I do firmly believe he's going to have a pretty good year.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: And if he does, he's going to be hard to pay.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: So the bucks would love that, but it would also be a bit bitter.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: So he's going to get a figure out what you're doing in the Aussies.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm expecting some big things from Yaya Diabe from Sub-Zero over there in Tampa Bay.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll see what happens.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: And they just came out with the team captains.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_00]: I would have slotted in yaya as a potential one of those guys.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we talked about a kind of predicting and he's one that was very transparent after the season and said he felt like that defensive side of the ball had to be better and didn't like the practices and such.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I appreciate that forehand.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: We don't really get that from players a whole ton anymore.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_00]: What about God?
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: What I mean, what that goes on here, what does the future look like?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_00]: for Chris, that's going to be a big talking point near the end of the season going in the next year.
- 33:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for those people who don't know, Chris Goblin has a team option this offseason, meaning that he signed a three year deal worth 66 million dollars per year.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_01]: However, that last deal is not guaranteed to team option.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: So he has to play very well.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: He wants to stay in Tampa Bay at the contract rate that he signed
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: before the 2025 season.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if he has a worst season, the bucks are going to bring him back on a lesser deal.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: They could.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: There's some complicates that's going on there.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: But God when definitely would like to have one of the bigger years he's had in a while So he can maintain that that right of pay and so the buck and ears continue to employ him That'll be a big part of this season whether or not he and that slot position can thrive under Zach Robinson's offense Baker may feel definitely trust Chris God when a lot likes him as a receiver has spoken Very very frequently on the type of leader he is and what he means to the room
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: So, expecting to get some targets, and you'd hope that he'll be able to improve in 2026, as of 2025, mostly spent recovering from that really bad injury and 2024 when he dislocated his ankle.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: Probably helped there have been in a few years now getting into this season.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see if it pays off.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do our third, third international watcher and listener here on the show.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for watching guys.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: This is crazy from France.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_00]: We've got Serbia and the House per usual.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: And we've got MB King and here saying from Saudi Arabia.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: Even without Mike Evans and Chris got on last year in the first part of the season, he rolled 262 with a Grazard.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_00]: Both leaves and Zack takes Hora's.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_00]: next year's head coach and we bring in a Christian Parker, a whole lot happening there, a whole lot of I think we have to see if Zach Robinson is a good offensive coordinator.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_01]: That would be the first thing before he takes over his head coach.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: So that would be something to note as well.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: And also not to mention, you know, Christian Parker is with the Dallas Cowboys.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: If that's a coordinator already, uh, really excited to see what he does there in Dallas.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: They need some very good defense coordinator, but, um, he's already spoken for at the moment.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see what happens going further from there.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: But Bowles definitely needs to have a really good season.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: And now we need to prove a little bit more in the playoffs outside of getting bounce on the first round to make a lasting impression.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that's going to be a big part of what happens next season, even how he starts off.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: And he would hope that that mid season with all the bucks have frequently had over his tenure would not re-reted this time around that would go a long way to keeping his job security.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_00]: is coming from algae saying this is great new the great news that book and years way continues congratulations.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: Baker the next comment is from Kim.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, still really from some of the worst football ever that we saw last night between Great time.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not gay personally as a four to grad.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure you enjoyed every single bit of that.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: That was a leap.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: I was more mad at SMU couldn't just finish the job You know four turnovers.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_00]: That was ugly football from both teams and I said you was just kind of just handing the hand number 19 SMU.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about that I don't know after that one
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is from a Tocama saying we're going we're going to be throwing high completion passes screens slants We have wider series that can get yak which is yards after catch and no doubt Bucky and Kenny gain will shake things up I'm really intrigued to see what that tandem looks like we got just a small taste of it Then you get to see a whole ton in that preseason game against the chiefs got a little taste of it but
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they were limited to an offensive line in that game.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: So really intrigued to see what this offense and Robinson is able to build up because there is a lot of talent on that side.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: How do you also sane here on YouTube?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_00]: This is how you build a quality program.
- 38:01[SPEAKER_00]: Staying the course and doing it the way we believe in.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now we need the true fans to show up and support this team unconditionally.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: That first, I think they are.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they are going to have that first home game of the season against guests who the Cleveland Browns, Baker Mayfield's revenge game.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's already spoken on it a few times.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_00]: He's excited for it.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, to imagine a packed house certainly for the home opener.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: But when you got Baker Mayfield with a chip on his shoulder like this, yeah.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_00]: you want to get your popcorn ready and grab a drink and sit down in the stands.
- 38:34[SPEAKER_00]: Bryce Patton here are well, you know, someone that's been in the chat for a very long time.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_00]: Coming in here, appreciate you, Brat's, Bryce saying he was also good, Brat, and you're not a Brat, uh, Bryce Patton.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we don't know, we don't know, we don't know.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, Bryce, your friend, is this one a friend?
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, good.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_00]: All right, we love that, we love that.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: So maybe we can't call him.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: but saying he was also good with Dave Canales during his time he was should note that for sure he won a playoff game with Dave Canales as well uh... in twenty three with that offense uh... you know the pro board that he eclipse four thousand yards for the first time his career
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: with Dave Canal, which is pretty interesting to say, but he did do well there, and that's kind of the first thing that made the box believe in him as the quarterback and as someone who could produce, I was kind of the year where he revitalizes career.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: So yes, he did have a good year of Dave Canal.
- 39:27[SPEAKER_01]: I can't forget that, and then even better one, Liam Cohen, definitely maybe some reasons he buys, talking about what happened in 2025, under Josh Kazaar, but it's still important to note, given the rest of his sort of tendencies and some negative tendencies going forward.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_00]: I want to mention real quick.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: We do have audio podcasts.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: So River and I want to Caleb's on here too.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: We download this audio.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_00]: It gets uploaded to the Apple Podcast over there to Spotify, which you can go over there and hit follow on to.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: So then if you're not able to watch us here on YouTube, it gets over there.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: You could go into your car, while you're working out wherever it may be.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: So then you can stay tuned.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to see our silly faces on here.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_00]: You can just listen to.

- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: From the chat we do need to show some love to our friends at price picks, they are going to be with us this entire season.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_00]: Finally, we can make some picks which we will be doing later this week as we preview the bucks at the bangles.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be using this app.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great one to use all throughout the year right now.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: As a new user, they're giving you a great deal.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: You can play with $5, you get a hundred billion dollars back and bonus line ups.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: If you win, you got to use that code HMA.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_00]: We are going to be predicting the passing yards for Baker Mayfield.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: Kenny Gainwell and Bucky Irving, who is going to be the top pass catcher?
- 41:10[SPEAKER_00]: for this game is it a mecca or is it going to be jame Mac or is it a surprise there we're going to make those picks along with two with the bangles so you got to use that code to h and may it is such an easy app to use and right now you can take full advantage of this.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_00]: They have a guaranteed pick that they're rolling with.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_00]: You got to do this before the kicks off tomorrow night between the Seattle sea hocks and a New England Patriots all you need is a Sam Donald to make practically one pass.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully it is forward and not backwards because
- 41:42[SPEAKER_00]: You just need one yard off.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's 99% off.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it's going to get a little nervous there.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: This is tough one.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my be a little nerve wracking.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think you got this one in the bag.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: Close it.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_00]: But most of the claim it now before kick off.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: You got to do it before then.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: You can add it to your picks there.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't wait.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: I will be doing that.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'm stoked for the season to begin.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_00]: I've been itching for NFL.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a very, very long off season.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: But price fix has made it a lot easier with us doing it.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: Make it some picks for the World Cup.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_00]: We did some things shoot.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think we even got into golf tennis this year.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: We're all over the place of baseball too with the rays.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_00]: So now we've had football and we are super excited for that.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: I want to finish off with one topic here and that was going through the rankings where Baker may feel slots in as one of the top paid quarterbacks in the league.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, number one, Dak Prescott with Dallas Cowboys, 60 million.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_00]: And when I say 60 million, this is going to be how much he's getting, or how much they're getting paid a year.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_00]: Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals tied for second now with a $55 million Trevor Lawrence, like I said, tied 55 Jordan love 55 and Baker Mayfield slots in right there with that group to a tag of a loa who is going to be Atlanta Falcons starting quarterback this year.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_00]: And now, yeah, and told Phoenix can get healthy.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: but at 53.1 million Jared Gough all the way down there, 53, and then Justin Herbert at eight with the Los Angeles Charters, Lamar Jackson at 52 million Lamar is probably about to get another big deal.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's going to get his bag.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he will.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: He has earned that bag and then Jalen Hertz at number 10.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_00]: Anything kind of stun you here with the news of Baker getting his contract
- 43:38[SPEAKER_00]: this group.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it changes.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's a revolving thing.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's a revolving thing.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: It changes.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think there will be quarterbacks that end up jumping in the future and that makes sense because that's how these contracts go.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I mean, I think there's a lot of really good quarterbacks in that group.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: Guys like Jordan Love and Joe Burrow are fantastic.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: and then, you know, whichever Lawrence is a guy that I think is a little bit controversial when it comes to how good and how well-fated he truly is, but it may feel kind of sauce right in there.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: The buck and ears thank you to Top 10 quarterback.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: He thank you to Top 10 quarterback.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: So this sort of reunium makes sense on that front.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how it goes.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's got four more years under contract.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: 110 million guaranteed.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: The bucks wanted to be there.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: They wanted to play football and he's got a really big chance to prove everybody right about, you know, people who has supporters, everybody right about how you can play and the things you can do and we'll see if he does that this season.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go through the rest of these comments before we wrap up.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_00]: This is coming from Naddy Daddy again.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't pay
- 44:44[SPEAKER_00]: reality, I'll be regardless after one good contract season.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's interesting.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think edge officers are some of the most, come on, you know, highly, highly, little, little, little, little, little.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_01]: I said, highly sought after.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not after, yeah, with tackle football outside linebacks or quarterly, in my opinion, the second most important position in football next to the quarterback.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_01]: The second most important position for walls, the guy who gets the quarterback.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's hard to find even decent edge rusher's.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_01]: So Diabie has a pretty good contract season.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I think he did play well last year.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's just wrapping up and Zach's so he didn't really get that.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I would stress that.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: pressures and past rush win rate are more important sex overall in football being able to put pressure on the quarterback uh disrupt their game flow uh sex obviously are fantastic and the best guys get both sex and pressures but you you want to make sure you see pressures overall and the obvious done really good at that so I think he did have a good season last year because primary pretty good this season this year and if he does end up really playing well
- 45:52[SPEAKER_00]: low country pirate saying that light picks offensive linemen better than defense and you know you can certainly have an argument for that there he has been a guru of finding those low pride profile offensive linemen and and college football and bringing them up and I'm actually excelling
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: There's that's one thing that you have banking on if you are going to move on from from Malk or not that you're gonna want to move on from it.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a Cap casualty like River was explaining earlier.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: Steven here on YouTube saying Baker's contract might be a blessing and disguised lowers a cap.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yaya Diobie will accept what he gets.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: Cody Malk is a staple.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they trade Ben, Brettison to give him the cash with Billy Schrauth and Drea offensive line all that kind of stuff.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: So those are all you know those are gonna
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: These topics are going to be brought up at buxamedid.com, the pros and cons from what this does with this contract extension for Baker Mayfield.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: So look out for that most likely tomorrow.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: uh... price coming here sick at pre-shaded go raise they have a it is a cool hat and i had to wait actually did not try to wait in line for that was very late but that was able to bump it off someone and pay them a little bit on the side for a bit of great hat and good luck to the way they got an important month coming up here to finish off before you get into the playoffs
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: uh... so over there and the trap and will finish it off here the great question uh... from marica hopefully i say that correctly how are y'all feeling about rookie widers here dead herst from jordest day we talked about a little bit earlier i'm very high on the kid river i think is to uh... he's brought a lot to what you didn't think you'd have a media league because you got so many first team reps and he and maker may feel we're clicking he made a phenomenal catch right in front of river and eyes face
- 47:41[SPEAKER_00]: That training camp over Jacob Perishes face more importantly, but a really nice sideline grab too.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it just went to show you why Jason Light and the Bucks front office made this move.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_00]: But your thoughts about Ted Hearst and how much we might see him in week one.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: for sure i think it's america like america i think that makes it it could be wrong with that one but there we go yeah i like him a lot i didn't look like him a lot too i think he's played better than i thought he would yeah i see he said he's adapted a little bit quicker than i thought he's shown off his his raw potential a little bit quicker than i thought i don't know how much he's gonna get played in week one and that might be fun to look out for do they use him in the red zone as they red zone threat
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: on the outside, that's definitely possible.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: And he could create a lot of mismatches with certain defensive backs and corners.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Here, as to see how he gets utilized, you might see him in a red zone situations, kind of dip his toes in the water.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he had to kind of earn that sort of thing, over the course of the year, and he's still light, but honestly, he's played pretty well, so far with the free season, showing a lot.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: I believe he's largely reformed, definitely, alongside kind of touch Johnson and weird-like.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, yeah, and that's the good all ors on that chart.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_00]: They got all yours.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, but I think he'll get some playing time as if he has the year continues.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: I think you'll probably see him brought out a lot.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: He is that typical X wider receiver and it's fun to have one of those.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: You can do a lot of cool stuff with them.
- 49:13[SPEAKER_01]: So, um, I think we'll see him.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_01]: Here's see if we see him a lot in week one.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_01]: He never know what Zach Robinson's plan.
- 49:20[SPEAKER_01]: We might ask him about that going forward on Thursday.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't really like to reveal his secrets.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: very often, so I might not get a great answer, but you never know.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: It could be fun to see him really come along early.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_00]: And most certainly would be we'll see we'll keep an eye off of that as something we're going to talk about in our preview later this week so make sure you hit that subscribe button so you don't miss out and there is a bill right next to that you hit that bill smack it That way you get notified when we do go live and certainly for breaking news episodes like this so a lot of you jumped in right away once we went live and that's because you got notified on your phone so

- 50:17[SPEAKER_00]: But that's going to wrap it up for the big news.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: The massive news the bucks get it done with Baker Mayfield.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's done five days before kickoff with the Bengals.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be back here with another instant reaction from practice tomorrow.
