- 0:09Speaker 1: From Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, it is game
- 0:14Speaker 1: number 44. Tonight, the Cleveland Guardians and the Los Angeles
- 0:20Speaker 1: Angels play in game two of this three-game series, a
- 0:25Speaker 1: matinee affair coming your way tomorrow afternoon. Hi again, everybody.
- 0:29Speaker 1: This is Tom Hamilton on an overcast night on the
- 0:33Speaker 1: shores of Lake Erie, along with Jim Rosenhaus and Brian Montse.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And much warmer than it was last night, although that's
- 0:41Speaker 1: not saying much. But temperature-wise, at least we've been in
- 0:45Speaker 1: the 60s today. And the better news, there is not
- 0:50Speaker 1: even a ripple in that American flag. that hangs high
- 0:55Speaker 1: above the bullpen areas out on the concourse in Wright Center.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And basically, folks, we have said it time and again,
- 1:03Speaker 1: it's anywhere from a 10 to maybe even a 12
- 1:07Speaker 1: degree difference when the wind is blowing in, or in
- 1:11Speaker 1: this case, when there is no breeze. And obviously, when
- 1:15Speaker 1: there is a breeze blowing out, That is usually the
- 1:18Speaker 1: sign of much warmer temperatures here in Northeast Ohio. Cleveland
- 1:24Speaker 1: coming in on top of the American League Central Division
- 1:27Speaker 1: at 22-21. That's a game and a half better than
- 1:31Speaker 1: the ultra-surprising Chicago White Sox, who have had a terrific
- 1:36Speaker 1: start to their campaign. The Angels, they're the worst team
- 1:40Speaker 1: in the American League, and only the New York Mets
- 1:43Speaker 1: with a worse record in all of Major League Baseball.
- 1:47Speaker 1: The Angels now 16-26, and they are buried in the
- 1:52Speaker 1: American League West six games out of first place. The
- 1:57Speaker 1: umpiring crew tonight, Jeremy Rehak, will call the balls and strikes.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Dan Iasonius, the crew chief, at first. It'll be Adam
- 2:05Speaker 1: Beck at second. and Jonathan Parra, the third base umpire.
- 2:11Speaker 1: 325 down each line. It's 370 to the gap in
- 2:15Speaker 1: left center, 375 to right center, and 400 to dead center.
- 2:21Speaker 1: The 19-foot wall from the left field corner to center,
- 2:24Speaker 1: from the right field corner to center, 9 feet. 35,000
- 2:28Speaker 1: is what this ballpark now seats since it's been scaled
- 2:33Speaker 1: down and renovated. You have three decks that begin in
- 2:36Speaker 1: right center, work their way around the pole to home plate,
- 2:40Speaker 1: two decks from home plate down the left field line,
- 2:44Speaker 1: then all kinds of bleacher seats from left to straightaway
- 2:49Speaker 1: center field. Slade Ciccone and the Guardians take the field
- 2:53Speaker 1: in their home whites with a navy blue and red trim.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Angels go with the red jerseys tonight with the dark
- 3:02Speaker 1: red-white trim and gray pants. Cleveland has just absolutely dominated
- 3:10Speaker 1: the Angels in this ballpark, my goodness, since 2015. Cleveland
- 3:14Speaker 1: is 28-4, 28-4 against the Angels here at the corner.
- 3:25Speaker 1: of Carnegie and Ontario. For the Angels, they are under
- 3:29Speaker 1: the direction of rookie manager and a long-time good major
- 3:33Speaker 1: league catcher in Kurt Suzuki. He's got the former outstanding
- 3:39Speaker 1: MAAC outfielder, Adam Eaton, who had a good major league career,
- 3:42Speaker 1: won a World Series with Washington, started with the White Sox,
- 3:46Speaker 1: played at Miami of Ohio. Adam Eaton is coaching at first,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and Keith Johnson coaching at third. Slade Ciccone trying to
- 3:56Speaker 1: erase what has been a nightmarish two career outings against
- 4:01Speaker 1: the Angels. In the two ballgames against the Angels... He's
- 4:05Speaker 1: given up 12 runs in seven and a third innings.
- 4:10Speaker 1: 0-1 career record, and if you want the numbers, an
- 4:13Speaker 1: earned run average of 14.73. Slade Ciccone, three fastballs, four-seamer, sinker, cutter,
- 4:23Speaker 1: then the curve and the slider. The issue for him
- 4:26Speaker 1: has been getting good break on both the curve and slider.
- 4:30Speaker 1: He said they've really been working on reshaping the slider,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and he really wants more of a 12-6 curveball. He
- 4:38Speaker 1: felt that it was better his last time out against
- 4:41Speaker 1: Kansas City. The shortstop, Zach Netto, leads it off. Right-hander
- 4:46Speaker 1: against right-hander. Ciccone does not use the wind-up. The set
- 4:51Speaker 1: and tonight's first pitch. And it's swung on and missed
- 4:54Speaker 1: strike one. And we're underway at the corner of Carnegie
- 4:57Speaker 1: and Ontario. Game time temp of 63 degrees. Netto batting. 222,
- 5:00Speaker 1: six homers, 18 RBIs. The pitch. A swing and a
- 5:10Speaker 1: foul back, 0-2. There may not be a more aggressive
- 5:13Speaker 1: leadoff hitter than Zach Netto in the game of baseball.
- 5:18Speaker 1: He'll strike out a lot, but he is a good player. Netto,
- 5:26Speaker 1: 1-for-5 last night out of Campbell University. The fighting camel
- 5:32Speaker 1: awaits the 0-2 pitch. And it's outside in a 97-mile-an-hour fastball.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Wow.
- 5:40Speaker 1: We haven't seen that all year from Ciccone, who's also
- 5:43Speaker 1: really worked on the mechanics of his delivery to really
- 5:47Speaker 1: drive down the mound toward the plate to get better velo.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Now the 1-2 pitch. Down and away. Missed with that
- 5:55Speaker 1: cutter in the count 2-2. The curveball and the slider
- 6:01Speaker 1: have been the two pitches that have been hit hard
- 6:04Speaker 1: Off Slade Ciccone. And he needs those to take hitters
- 6:09Speaker 1: off the fastball. Now the 2-2. Swing and a foul
- 6:14Speaker 1: tip into the catcher's mitt. That is worn tonight by
- 6:18Speaker 1: Patrick Bailey. And a strikeout on a good fastball. In
- 6:22Speaker 1: on the hands of Netto to start tonight's ballgame. Stephen
- 6:26Speaker 1: Kwan in left. Daniel Schneeman patrols center. Angel Martinez in right.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Kyle Manzardo at first, Travis Pazana at second, Brian Rocchio
- 6:35Speaker 1: at short, Jose Ramirez at third, and the second start
- 6:39Speaker 1: behind the plate in a Cleveland uniform for Patrick Bailey.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Mike Trout takes it up high, ball one. Trout's been
- 6:48Speaker 1: healthy all year, and that's great news for the game
- 6:50Speaker 1: of baseball and obviously even better news for the Angels.
- 6:55Speaker 1: The future Hall of Famer, right-handed batter in center, the pitch...
- 6:59Speaker 1: And he cuts and misses. Threw it by him at
- 7:01Speaker 1: 96 miles per hour. One and one to count. Mike
- 7:06Speaker 1: Trout batting.
- 7:08Speaker 3: 248.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Sixth in the American League with a team high 11 homers.
- 7:12Speaker 1: He's knocked in 23. The pitch to him, and he
- 7:16Speaker 1: taps it foul. Third base side by the Cleveland dugout.
- 7:20Speaker 1: And they count one and two. Stephen Vogt back in
- 7:23Speaker 1: that dugout feeling much, much better. He's having trouble with
- 7:27Speaker 1: his voice, but able to manage tonight. And a great
- 7:31Speaker 1: job done by the bench coach, Tony Arnerich, in his absence.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Now the one-two delivery to Trout. Swung on, skied in
- 7:42Speaker 1: the air, fouled down the right side, out of play.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Mike Trout's in his 15th Major League season. All have
- 7:48Speaker 1: been spent in Anaheim. He's a lifetime 3-0-1 hitter. Seven
- 7:57Speaker 1: times 30 homers or more. Three times 100 RBIs or more.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Three times American League MVP. Four times American League MVP runner-up.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Now the 1-2 delivery. High and wide, 2-2. The only
- 8:23Speaker 1: thing Mike Trout has as a blemish on the resume,
- 8:28Speaker 1: a lot of injuries. But boy, is he fun to watch.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Now the 2-2. High, full count. He is built like
- 8:37Speaker 1: a middle linebacker. 6'2, 235. The difference is he runs
- 8:43Speaker 1: like an NFL wide receiver. Maybe not to the extent
- 8:48Speaker 1: he once did. Now the payoff pitch. Check swing foul
- 8:53Speaker 1: will do it again. Boy, there was a time that
- 8:57Speaker 1: Mike Trout was averaging 26 stolen bases a year. He
- 9:05Speaker 1: did that his first eight years in the big leagues.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Doesn't run nearly as much now. Need him to stay healthy.
- 9:12Speaker 1: The 3-2 offering. Swing and a broken bat. Jam job.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Bouncing towards second. Gloved by Lozada, but he can't get
- 9:21Speaker 1: the throw over in time. Well, there's Mike Trout still
- 9:24Speaker 1: showing he can get up and down that first baseline.
- 9:28Speaker 1: A little jam job floater. That Bazana charged at second.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Not much you can do. You break the bat. Takes
- 9:35Speaker 1: the sting out of it. And Bazana did all he
- 9:39Speaker 1: could to try to get Trout. He shows you he
- 9:41Speaker 1: can still pick him up and put him down. So
- 9:45Speaker 1: the infield hit brings up the first baseman, Nolan Shaunawell. Batting. 257,
- 9:52Speaker 1: three homers, 20 RBIs. The pitch. And it's in there.
- 9:56Speaker 1: A called strike. Biggest issue. that the Angels have had
- 10:03Speaker 1: this year offensively, they just don't hit well with men
- 10:08Speaker 1: in scoring position. That has really hurt them this year.
- 10:12Speaker 1: The pitch, and it's on the outer edge, 0-2 the count.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Now nobody in scoring position right now. But it's really
- 10:21Speaker 1: been a year-long issue for the Angels, hitting in the clutch.
- 10:26Speaker 1: And Cleveland has struggled at times with that as well.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Cleveland ranks 8th in the American League, the Angels 10th.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Now the 0-2 to Shanawell. The left-handed slugger takes high.
- 10:41Speaker 1: The Guardians bat 240. Now let's check here now. Get
- 10:49Speaker 1: it back. The Guardians bat 240. They're 10th in the
- 10:54Speaker 1: league with men in scoring position. The Angels are 13th
- 10:58Speaker 1: at 234. Now the 1-2 delivery. Rope foul down the
- 11:04Speaker 1: right side by Shauna Well. The count, 1-2. What's amazing,
- 11:09Speaker 1: the White Sox are doing what they're doing and they're
- 11:11Speaker 1: the worst clutch hitting team in the American League. Batting
- 11:14Speaker 1: 216 with men in scoring position. Seattle's second worst hitter. 225.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Then the Angels, 234. Best clutch hitting team? Well, the
- 11:26Speaker 1: best team in the American League, Tampa Bay. They hit
- 11:29Speaker 1: 283 in the clutch. Down to one-two. Swung on. Line
- 11:34Speaker 1: shot to left. It's hanging up, but not long enough
- 11:37Speaker 1: for Kwon to get there. Throw it a second. Trout
- 11:39Speaker 1: goes in standing. Ball goes off the glove of Bazana
- 11:43Speaker 1: to the grass area on the infield. Trout thought that
- 11:46Speaker 1: ball might be caught. Pretty good decoy by Kwon and left.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But it got down and then Trout almost got forced
- 11:53Speaker 1: at second. He didn't slide. He went in standing. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: he almost came off the base. So back-to-back singles. Trout
- 12:01Speaker 1: at second. Shauna well at first. Here's Jorge Soler. Sixth
- 12:07Speaker 1: in the American League and runs batted in. He takes
- 12:09Speaker 1: the strike. Soler with 28 RBIs, hitting. 226, eight homers,
- 12:16Speaker 1: 28 runs batted in. Ciccone sets, delivers way outside, and
- 12:28Speaker 1: the count, one and one. Stephen Kwan in left, Daniel
- 12:31Speaker 1: Schneeman in center, Angel Martinez in right, Kyle Manzardo at first,
- 12:36Speaker 1: Travis Pazana at second, Brian Orocchio at short, Jose Ramirez
- 12:40Speaker 1: at third, Patrick Bailey catching. The pitch, banged foul, third
- 12:44Speaker 1: base side. And a 1-2 count on Soler. The veteran
- 12:49Speaker 1: DH in his 12th Major League season is first in Anaheim. Soler.
- 13:08Speaker 1: At times he's been an okay outfielder, but pretty much
- 13:12Speaker 1: now he's strictly a DH. The set, the delivery, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: it missed outside, 2-2. Should make a correction. This is
- 13:22Speaker 1: Soler's second year in Anaheim. Soler out of Cuba. He
- 13:30Speaker 1: is still a big, strong man. 6'4, 233. The pitch.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Swing and a pop-up foul into the home plate area.
- 13:39Speaker 1: What is happening to Ciccone here, and this is where
- 13:43Speaker 1: the lack of a quality curve and slider have hurt him,
- 13:47Speaker 1: not putting hitters away with two strikes. He's already at
- 13:52Speaker 1: 23 pitches here in the first, and there's only one out.
- 13:56Speaker 1: He's getting ahead of everybody. The 2-2. Got him swinging.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Elevated fastball. And the second strikeout for Ciccone. The second
- 14:06Speaker 1: out here in the first. And that'll bring up Vaughn Grissom.
- 14:10Speaker 1: And Slade Ciccone was talking about that. He said, look,
- 14:13Speaker 1: I don't have a changeup anymore. So it's imperative that
- 14:18Speaker 1: I get back that good off-speed curveball and complement that
- 14:21Speaker 1: with a slider to take the hitter off my three fastballs.
- 14:27Speaker 1: But it's still a work in progress. Now can he
- 14:31Speaker 1: get out of the inning unscathed? Here's Vaughn Grissom at
- 14:34Speaker 1: second tonight. Right-handed batter takes up high. Ball one. Grissom
- 14:40Speaker 1: has been the Angels' best clutch hitter. A 4-67 batting
- 14:46Speaker 1: mark with men in scoring position. Trout in scoring position
- 14:50Speaker 1: at second. Shaunawell at first. Two down, Angels batting in
- 14:55Speaker 1: the first. No score. The 1-0 delivery to Grissom. Swing
- 15:01Speaker 1: and a weak bouncer to short. Charged by Rocchio. Bobbles recovers.
- 15:04Speaker 1: High throw. Good stretch. Good reach up by Manzardo. Inning
- 15:08Speaker 1: is over. Ciccone works out of it. And the Angels
- 15:12Speaker 1: fail to score with the Guardians coming to bat.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Progressive no sports brings people together. But you gotta feel
- 15:20Speaker 4: bad for people who don't even get it. Some people
- 15:23Speaker 4: will never know what it's like to see their favorite
- 15:25Speaker 4: team's hopes decided by a ping pong ball to draft
- 15:26Speaker 4: the next superstar.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Or not.
- 15:30Speaker 4: I mean, sure, it's silly for your happiness to hinge
- 15:32Speaker 4: on the success of a 20-year-old entry-level employee. But you
- 15:35Speaker 4: just can't help yourself. The stress is exhilarating. Progressive can't
- 15:39Speaker 4: bring people together like the draft, but we can bring

- 15:49Speaker 5: Hey, sports fans. There's no better feeling than when you're
- 15:52Speaker 5: watching your team dominate. But remember, when the offseason comes,
- 15:56Speaker 5: you can still channel your team spirit with a fresh

- 16:19Speaker 6: In 1977, Ford F-Series became the best-selling trucks in America.
- 16:25Speaker 6: 33 million trucks later, we've kept that title every year since.
- 16:30Speaker 6: And that's a formula we plan on repeating. Ford F-Series.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Built Ford Tough.
- 16:36Speaker 6: The best-selling trucks in America for 49 years and counting.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Based on 1977 to 2025 calendar year industry reported total sales.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Service, sacrifice, citizenship.

- 17:04Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown. Cleveland's going to get their
- 17:17Speaker 1: first look at a really good young pitching prospect as
- 17:20Speaker 1: Stephen Kwan takes the high heat. His name is Wolbert Ureña. 6'1, 215.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Ureña delivers. Kwan takes high. It's 2-0. Ureña is 22
- 17:38Speaker 1: years of age out of the Dominican Republic area. He
- 17:42Speaker 1: throws an upper 90s four-seam fastball, an upper 90s sinker, slider,
- 17:49Speaker 1: and a devastating change. The pitch is in there a strike.
- 17:53Speaker 1: That was his changeup. It'll be in the upper 80s
- 17:57Speaker 1: to low 90s. And Mark Guba's up. The longtime Major
- 18:04Speaker 1: League pitcher who's next door to the pitch. Swing and
- 18:07Speaker 1: a liner toward left field. It is getting down. Base hit.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Stephen Kwon talked about it on the manager's show. Walked
- 18:15Speaker 1: his last two times up last night. And those are
- 18:20Speaker 1: baby steps because that showed you Stephen Kwon had kind
- 18:24Speaker 1: of reeled back in his real feel of the strike zone.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And stayed patient, didn't try to do too much. Follows
- 18:34Speaker 1: those two walks with a leadoff hit tonight. Here's Chase
- 18:37Speaker 1: DeLauder DH-ing. Ureña' s pitch down low, ball one. But Mark Gubiza,
- 18:44Speaker 1: who was such a good pitcher, part of that 1985
- 18:48Speaker 1: Kansas City Royals rotation that won the World Series, he
- 18:54Speaker 1: was saying that Ureña will throw a changeup That is
- 18:59Speaker 1: so devastating. They have seen multiple hitters swing, miss, and
- 19:05Speaker 1: either fall down or almost fall down in the batter's box.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Here's the 1-0 to DeLauder. And he takes the strike.
- 19:13Speaker 1: There was the changeup. Cleveland's never faced Ureña before. Heck,
- 19:20Speaker 1: he's basically never pitched above double-A. Handful of innings in triple-A.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Now the 1-1 to DeLauder. And it's outside a changeup. 2-1. Ureña.
- 19:38Speaker 1: How good is this changeup? Teams are batting 1-0-7 off
- 19:44Speaker 1: his changeup this year. The 2-1. And it's low. 3. 3-1.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Teams are hitting 143 off his four-seam fastball. But what
- 19:58Speaker 1: is puzzling, teams are hitting 455 off his sinker and
- 20:04Speaker 1: 333 off his slider. The set, the pitch. Swung on
- 20:11Speaker 1: a bouncer to second. Grissom to second.
- 20:13Speaker 8: One.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Netto turns the double play. That's what he is so
- 20:18Speaker 1: capable of doing right there. Getting behind in the count.
- 20:24Speaker 1: And then able to get a double play ball. And
- 20:28Speaker 1: guess what? He got the double play ball off his changeup.
- 20:32Speaker 1: That's pretty impressive for a 22-year-old. So no score, first
- 20:38Speaker 1: inning bases now empty, two down. Jose Ramirez at third,
- 20:42Speaker 1: switch hitter batting left-handed. He takes and it's in there,
- 20:46Speaker 1: called strike. Ramirez batting 215, six homers, 16 RBIs. Ureña
- 20:56Speaker 1: making his fifth Major League start. The pitch... And it's
- 21:00Speaker 1: fouled off to the left. 0-2. One win, three losses.
- 21:05Speaker 1: ERA 322. Four previous starts. Twice he worked out of
- 21:10Speaker 1: the bullpen. He's been averaging five innings to start. The 0-2.
- 21:20Speaker 1: High 1-2. Now Ureña has had command issues. He walks
- 21:25Speaker 1: six every nine innings. He also strikes out nine. No, one-two.
- 21:37Speaker 1: And strike. Oh, the Angels walking off the field thought
- 21:40Speaker 1: it was strike three. So did I. No challenge by
- 21:44Speaker 1: the Angels. They were out of them last night in
- 21:47Speaker 1: the third. If they challenge that one, the inning is over.
- 21:51Speaker 1: But they've got a youngster catching. The pitch. Swing and
- 21:56Speaker 1: a miss. Struck him out on a changeup in the dirt.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Or did he foul tip it?
- 22:00Speaker 2: Nope.
- 22:01Speaker 1: He missed it. Posey just turns, walks back to the
- 22:04Speaker 1: third base dugout and says, I've had enough. No score
- 22:07Speaker 1: after one on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network. KBN. News
- 22:12Speaker 1: Radio 570. WKBN.
- 22:16Speaker 8: Youngstown.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Well, the longtime Chicago White Sox, whom Cleveland at one
- 22:25Speaker 1: time Would be seeing 19 times a year. Yohan Moncada
- 22:31Speaker 1: leads off. And Slade Ciccone misses outside. Ball one. No score.
- 22:37Speaker 1: This is inning number two from downtown Cleveland. Ciccone lets
- 22:45Speaker 1: it fly. Moncada batting left-handed, fouling it back. Moncada having
- 22:50Speaker 1: another tough year. He is batting 188. Three homers, nine RBIs. Boy,
- 23:02Speaker 1: one time he looked like a superstar in the making.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Now the 1-1. Swings and fouls it off sweet level.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Third base side, 1-2. Dollar Bank, the proud banking partner
- 23:18Speaker 1: of the Guardians. 28 locations in Northeast Ohio ready to
- 23:22Speaker 1: provide solutions to help get you there. Moncada, another native
- 23:29Speaker 1: of Cuba. The 1-2. Down low, ball two, 2-2. Moncada
- 23:40Speaker 1: coming in that Chris Sale trade between the White Sox
- 23:43Speaker 1: and Red Sox. That's been 10 years ago. The pitch
- 23:50Speaker 1: swung on, line shot to left center, base hit. So Moncada...
- 23:55Speaker 1: with the third hit of the night off Slade Ciccone.
- 23:59Speaker 1: And that'll bring up the right fielder, Joe Adele. Adele
- 24:04Speaker 1: up to a heck of a start. 2.79 batting mark,
- 24:09Speaker 1: six homers, 24 RBIs. And Adele is a guy that
- 24:19Speaker 1: has faced Slade Ciccone three times and taken him deep twice.
- 24:26Speaker 1: He cuts and misses. Strike one. Well, in Cleveland's batting
- 24:36Speaker 1: in the first four innings, it's the old Conrad score four,
- 24:40Speaker 1: win four new times. The 0-1 pitch. Swing and a
- 24:45Speaker 1: bouncer to third. Charged by Ramirez to second one. Bazana relay.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Got him! Oh, what a double play! Turn by Ramirez
- 24:55Speaker 1: and Bazana. Osi charging on that difficult swoop on the
- 25:02Speaker 1: short hop. Club through quickly to second. A quick pivot
- 25:07Speaker 1: by Travis Bazana to turn two. But the Angels do
- 25:12Speaker 1: not believe that it's a double play. And they are
- 25:16Speaker 1: going to ask New York to make the definitive call
- 25:20Speaker 1: on this. So right now, two outs and the bases
- 25:25Speaker 1: are empty. No score here in the second. But when
- 25:29Speaker 1: Cleveland's batting, Jeffrey Murphy of Tillman's to try to win
- 25:34Speaker 1: the four Bridgestone tires. Thanks to our friends at Conrad's
- 25:38Speaker 1: Tire Express and Total Car Care. Visit econrads.com to enter.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Good luck to Jeffrey Murphy from Talmadge. Bang, bang, play
- 25:50Speaker 1: it first. We'll see how New York calls it. What
- 25:54Speaker 1: an effort, though, by Ramirez and Bazzana. Travis Bazzana has
- 25:59Speaker 1: really looked Much improved on the pivot and turn at second.
- 26:03Speaker 1: After a few of the call, the field is overturned.
- 26:05Speaker 1: The runner is safe. Los Angeles retains their challenge. But
- 26:09Speaker 1: the call is overturned despite the valiant effort on the
- 26:12Speaker 1: part of Ramirez and Bassano. So, fielder's choice. Adele, now
- 26:18Speaker 1: at first, one down. Still no score. Still in the
- 26:23Speaker 1: top half of inning number two. And here's Josh Lowe,
- 26:26Speaker 1: the left-handed hitting left fielder. Lowe Having a tough start.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Fouling it back, strike one. He came in a three-team
- 26:38Speaker 1: trade with Cincinnati, the Angels, and Tampa in January. And
- 26:44Speaker 1: low with the Angels batting 165. Four homers, ten RBIs.
- 26:53Speaker 1: The pitch, outside and high, one and one. The Angels
- 26:57Speaker 1: have a lineup tonight. Almost mid-May and they have two
- 27:01Speaker 1: guys in the lineup tonight batting under 200. Angels average
- 27:09Speaker 1: not quite four and a half runs a game. Sixth
- 27:12Speaker 1: in the league in runs, fourth in homers, but lead
- 27:16Speaker 1: the league in strikeouts. Seventh in OPS. Now the set,
- 27:21Speaker 1: throw over to first and back with a dive is Adele.
- 27:29Speaker 1: But it's amazing what hitting in the clutch does. The
- 27:32Speaker 1: Angels don't do it. Tampa Bay, no great offensive team,
- 27:36Speaker 1: but they're the best hitting in the clutch. Best record
- 27:38Speaker 1: in the American League. The pitch swung on, lifted in
- 27:42Speaker 1: the air, medium deep center. Schneeman retires low. That is
- 27:47Speaker 1: out number two. And here's the youngster in his second
- 27:51Speaker 1: major league game, Omar Martinez. One for one. He got
- 27:55Speaker 1: a major league base hit his first time up here.
- 27:58Speaker 1: We talk about a kid that paid his dues. Eight
- 28:01Speaker 1: years in the minors. The first seven with the Yankees organization.
- 28:07Speaker 1: And now in the big leagues with the Angels. They
- 28:11Speaker 1: had a 2-12 at AAA Salt Lake City before the call-up.
- 28:16Speaker 1: The pitch, backdoored him and missed with a curve. Their
- 28:19Speaker 1: terrific catcher, Logan Ohapi, still on the injured list. So
- 28:24Speaker 1: is their other really fine catcher, Travis Darnot. So the
- 28:28Speaker 1: Angels trying to piece it together behind the plate. The pitch.
- 28:32Speaker 1: A little bit wide.
- 28:33Speaker 8: 2-0.
- 28:34Speaker 1: They're still missing. Ben Joyce who's a fireballer out of
- 28:40Speaker 1: their bullpen. Started Grayson. Rodriguez still not healthy. Robert Stevenson.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yusei Kikuchi. That pitch sails high and wide. Check swing
- 28:52Speaker 1: didn't go.
- 28:53Speaker 3: 3-0.
- 28:53Speaker 5: So..
- 28:56Speaker 1: You have those kind of injuries to a team that's
- 29:01Speaker 1: borderline 500 to begin with, and you can see why
- 29:04Speaker 1: they're off to this start. That pitch, Anthony's strike, three
- 29:09Speaker 1: and one. And boy, the Angels have struggled away from
- 29:15Speaker 1: the big A. They just have not pitched well when
- 29:19Speaker 1: they're on the road. The three-one. Fouled it back, full count.
- 29:25Speaker 1: They swing the bats better away from the big A.
- 29:29Speaker 1: 36 homers on the road, 14 at home. But their
- 29:34Speaker 1: earned run average on the road as a staff is
- 29:37Speaker 1: five and a half. It's more than two runs. higher
- 29:40Speaker 1: than it is when they pitch at home Traveling time
- 29:44Speaker 1: on this 3-2 pitch. No score, second inning. And the pitch,
- 29:48Speaker 1: a broken bat fly into shallow right center. On the run,
- 29:53Speaker 1: Schneeman got there to make the catch. The center fielder
- 29:56Speaker 1: retires Omar Martinez. This game stays scoreless in the middle
- 30:01Speaker 1: of inning number two on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.

- 31:51Speaker 10: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 32:00Speaker 1: No score. We go to the bottom half of inning
- 32:02Speaker 1: number two. And looking at a first pitch strike from
- 32:07Speaker 1: Walbert Ureña is the cleanup hitter Kyle Manzardo. The pitch.
- 32:18Speaker 1: check swing and a change down and away. Boy, last night,
- 32:22Speaker 1: this guy couldn't hit the ball better, but it was
- 32:26Speaker 1: so cold, so windy blowing in. Man, Sarno just didn't
- 32:31Speaker 1: get rewarded. He could have had at least two homers.
- 32:35Speaker 1: The pitch, and it's outside, two and one. But Kyle,
- 32:40Speaker 1: very matter-of-factly, saying today, hey, that's April and May in Cleveland.
- 32:46Speaker 1: I get it. Frustrating, but You can't worry about it.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Now the 2-1. Swing and a miss, 2-2, where you
- 32:56Speaker 1: as a hitter get in trouble as if you go, okay,
- 33:00Speaker 1: now I have to do something more to get rewarded
- 33:03Speaker 1: since that ball didn't go out. Then you change things
- 33:06Speaker 1: in your swing, and the next thing you know, you're
- 33:08Speaker 1: in an 0-for-20 skid. Here's the 2-2. High and wide,
- 33:14Speaker 1: full count. When the Guardians win, Northeast Ohio Ford dealers
- 33:18Speaker 1: donate $ 500 to Cleveland Guardians Charities to help youth sports.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Ureña hasn't walked anybody yet. That's been his Achilles heel.
- 33:34Speaker 1: The right-hander lets it fly. And it's swung on and missed.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Struck him out on a changeup. 92-mile-an-hour changeup. Manzardo, the
- 33:43Speaker 1: second victim. Here's Travis Bozzana. Travis Bozzana hitting fifth tonight.
- 33:51Speaker 1: He's batting. 211. His on-base percentage,.
- 33:57Speaker 6: 423.
- 33:57Speaker 1: That's more than 200 points above his batting average because
- 34:04Speaker 1: he's walked 12 times in 12 games. He's also 7-for-7
- 34:11Speaker 1: in the stolen base department. Ureña' s ready. The pitch. Outside.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Ball one. Boy, that fastball has some run on it.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Going away from the left-handed hitter. Lozada, 5'11, 200 pounds,
- 34:31Speaker 1: 23 years of age. The pitch. And it's a little high, 2-0.
- 34:37Speaker 1: You wonder with a kid in his... Basically, infancy states
- 34:45Speaker 1: in the big leagues catching Omar Martinez. How much he'll
- 34:49Speaker 1: challenge pitches? The 2-0. Swing and a foul back. They've
- 34:54Speaker 1: done it on the minor league level, but how do
- 34:58Speaker 1: you feel about it on the big league level? This
- 35:01Speaker 1: kid has had two at-bats in his major league career.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Does he feel worthy of challenging Jeremy Rehak? The 2-1 pitch. Outside,
- 35:12Speaker 1: ball three, three and one. Well, you can see why
- 35:16Speaker 1: Ureña is maybe walking six a game. Whether it's his
- 35:21Speaker 1: changeup or fastball, it has so much movement, sometimes it
- 35:24Speaker 1: moves off the plate from a strike to a ball.
- 35:28Speaker 1: 3-1 is hit on the ground weakly. Threw him a
- 35:32Speaker 1: 3-1 changeup. And Bozana grounds out to the second baseman
- 35:36Speaker 1: who has no trouble. Grissom throwing him out. Boy, when he...
- 35:41Speaker 1: Needs an out pitch. The kid is going to his
- 35:44Speaker 1: changeup here in the first two innings tonight. Why not?
- 35:48Speaker 1: We told you at the outset. Team's barely hitting above
- 35:53Speaker 1: 100 against his changeup. Two outs. Nullity on. No score.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Second inning. Boy, what a difference for the Angels tonight.
- 36:02Speaker 1: The pitch down low a ball. They've got a legitimate,
- 36:06Speaker 1: bona fide, big-time pitching prospect on the mound. And Cleveland, luckily,
- 36:12Speaker 1: will miss Jose Soriano. Now the pitch. In there, a strike. Soriano,
- 36:20Speaker 1: a Cy Young candidate with a record of 6-2 and
- 36:24Speaker 1: a 166 ERA in nine starts. The pitch. And it's
- 36:34Speaker 1: on the outer edge. Called strike. 1-2 the count on Schneemann.
- 36:38Speaker 1: He was banning 156 in the month of May. He's
- 36:42Speaker 1: dropped his season average to 273. Four homers, 17 RBIs.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Now the 1-2. Swing and a foul at the plate.
- 36:52Speaker 1: We'll do it again. And a ball and two strikes.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I tell you, you.
- 36:56Speaker 9: Mentioned Soriano and the Angels folks saying this kid is
- 37:00Speaker 9: smart enough to know that he follows him around, tries
- 37:03Speaker 9: to mimic his routines and soak up everything he can
- 37:06Speaker 9: from one of the best in baseball.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Now the 1-2. Down low, ball two, 2-2. Last night,
- 37:21Speaker 1: Cleveland walked 10 times. None so far. The 2-2. Outside,
- 37:28Speaker 1: check swing and a changeup. The kids started off the
- 37:31Speaker 1: mound of the dugout. Full count, he'll walk back on
- 37:35Speaker 1: top of the hill. The pitch. Got him swinging on
- 37:46Speaker 1: a changeup.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Wow.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Ureña is impressive. And that changeup is every bit as
- 37:54Speaker 1: good as advertised. Thirds next. No score in the Cleveland
- 37:58Speaker 1: Clinic Radio Network. News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown. Third inning,
- 38:13Speaker 1: no score, top of the order, and Zach Netto, the shortstop,
- 38:16Speaker 1: the batter, fouls off the first pitch, strike one. Zach Netto,
- 38:22Speaker 1: in his last two seasons, his first two full seasons
- 38:28Speaker 1: in the big leagues, has averaged 24 homers, 28 steals,
- 38:34Speaker 1: 70 RBIs, swings and misses at the next pitch. And
- 38:40Speaker 1: the count, 0-2. Struck out swinging in the first. Slade
- 38:44Speaker 1: Ciccone has struck out a pair, not walking anybody. Third inning,
- 38:48Speaker 1: no score. Ciccone from the set. Here it comes. The 0-2.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Swing and a foul. We'll do it again. Guardians honor
- 39:02Speaker 1: the American League champs of ten years ago. Friday night.
- 39:07Speaker 1: T-shirt giveaway, fireworks. Tickets at CLEGuardians.com. The next delivery. And strike.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Three called. Kind of a delayed call, but Netto had
- 39:23Speaker 1: already started for the dugout. He knew. Third strikeout for Ciccone.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Twice he's gotten Netto. Here's Mike Trout. Infield hit his
- 39:33Speaker 1: first time up. The fabulous Mike Trout. The pitch to him.
- 39:46Speaker 1: And he looks at a good curveball. That's one of
- 39:48Speaker 1: the best We have seen tonight from Slade Ciccone, nothing
- 39:54Speaker 1: in one to count. You better have a lot of
- 39:58Speaker 1: weapons trying to get this guy out. The next pitch, high,
- 40:05Speaker 1: a ball, one and one to count. He's ready. Here
- 40:20Speaker 1: it comes. And it's at the top of the zone,
- 40:24Speaker 1: a strike. Trout not convinced, but again, nobody's challenged yet.
- 40:29Speaker 1: One ball and two strikes. Mike Trout, first round pick
- 40:41Speaker 1: back in 09. Now the set, now the delivery, and
- 40:47Speaker 1: it's high. And they count two and two. And to
- 40:53Speaker 1: this day, no scouting director will give you an honest
- 40:59Speaker 1: answer on the pitch. Strike! Three called. A delayed call.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Trout out looking. How in the world did Mike Trout
- 41:09Speaker 1: last until the 25th pick in the draft? The Angels
- 41:14Speaker 1: had three picks in the first round that year. He
- 41:18Speaker 1: was their last pick in the first round. They even
- 41:20Speaker 1: passed on him twice. Incredible. Two outs, nobody on. Third inning,
- 41:26Speaker 1: no score. The pitch. And it's swung on, lifted in
- 41:31Speaker 1: the air to left by Nolan Shonawell, but drifting foul.
- 41:35Speaker 1: The number one pick in the 0-9 draft that Trout
- 41:38Speaker 1: came in was pitcher Steven Strasburg for Washington. Had he
- 41:43Speaker 1: not gotten hurt, might have been an all-time great. The pitch.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Up and in. The people that were drafting for the
- 41:54Speaker 1: Cleveland Indians back then are long gone. But a lot
- 42:02Speaker 1: of people's drafting departments have changed with everything going on
- 42:07Speaker 1: in baseball since 09. Shaunawell takes a strike, but you
- 42:11Speaker 1: look at the people that were drafted ahead of Mike Trout,
- 42:14Speaker 1: and you're like, huh? Dustin Ackley, Donovan Tate, Tony Sanchez,
- 42:22Speaker 1: Matt Hobgood. Those were the first five in the draft.
- 42:28Speaker 1: The one-two pitch. Swung on, yanked to right. That's a
- 42:32Speaker 1: base hit for Nolan Shonawell, who's two for two. And again,
- 42:37Speaker 1: it's easy to look back and woulda, coulda, shoulda. But
- 42:42Speaker 1: some of the other first-round picks in 09 that you
- 42:45Speaker 1: might remember that came before Mike Trout, Mike Miner, Mike Leak,
- 42:52Speaker 1: Zach Wheeler, Drew Storn. Alex White was picked by Cleveland 15th.
- 43:01Speaker 1: You wonder what his career could have been without the
- 43:03Speaker 1: finger injury. Jorge Soler takes. It's a called strike. But nobody,
- 43:12Speaker 1: and I mean nobody, is even remotely close in that
- 43:16Speaker 1: draft to Mike Trout. Two down, runner on, no score,
- 43:21Speaker 1: third inning. The pitch leans them back, and they count
- 43:24Speaker 1: one and one. Cleveland will have the 19th pick in
- 43:29Speaker 1: the draft this year. They had a second first-round pick,
- 43:34Speaker 1: but that went to San Francisco in the Patrick Bailey trade.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Now the pitch, and it misses. A little outside, two
- 43:45Speaker 1: and one. Soler struck out his first time up. Boy,
- 43:48Speaker 1: Ciccone throwing with better velo tonight than we have seen
- 43:52Speaker 1: all season. Runner on. Two down for Soler. No score
- 43:56Speaker 1: in the third. The pitch. A swing and a bullet
- 44:00Speaker 1: to left. Down the line. Fair. Kicks off the sidewall
- 44:03Speaker 1: into the corner to Kwon. Hustling to third is Shanawell.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Throw to second. And a little off target by Rocchio
- 44:10Speaker 1: to Pizzano where they might have had a play on Soler.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Soler gets his seventh double. And the Angels have minutes
- 44:19Speaker 1: second and third on back-to-back two out hits. No scoring again.
- 44:24Speaker 1: It's Vaughn Grissom. He batted with two down, two on
- 44:28Speaker 1: in the first when he grounded out. Busy time now
- 44:37Speaker 1: for Major League Amateur Area Scouts hunting that talent for
- 44:40Speaker 1: the draft coming up in July. Conference tournament's beginning next week.
- 44:47Speaker 1: The pitch, and it's in their strength. Then you have
- 44:50Speaker 1: the NCAA tournament selection. And eventually, a trip to Omaha.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Now the 0-1 pitch. And Grissom swings through it, 0-2.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Wonder if someday... We'll see the College World Series capped
- 45:13Speaker 1: off by the Major League draft. It would seem to
- 45:17Speaker 1: make sense, wouldn't.
- 45:20Speaker 8: It?
- 45:20Speaker 9: I think right now, the way you have it tied
- 45:23Speaker 9: to the All-Star game, it's almost too much for one
- 45:26Speaker 9: of the marquee events in baseball.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Now the 0-2 pitch. High, 1-2. Well, now it's Saturday night.
- 45:35Speaker 1: So we'll have a full slate of baseball on Saturday
- 45:38Speaker 1: in the Major Leagues. These kids getting drafted. should have
- 45:42Speaker 1: the nation's attention. Does the NFL play a slate of
- 45:45Speaker 1: games into the college draft that night? The one-two. Swing!
- 45:50Speaker 7: And a miss.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Ciccone with a fist pump. 96-mile-an-hour heater gets Grissom. Five
- 45:57Speaker 1: strikeouts for Ciccone. Boy, is he throwing hard tonight. No
- 46:01Speaker 1: score in the middle of the third.

- 47:50Speaker 10: News Radio 570 WKBN, Youngstown.
- 48:00Speaker 1: No score, bottom of the third. Angel Martinez takes one
- 48:04Speaker 1: underneath the arms for ball one. Good-looking youngster in Walbert Ureña,
- 48:10Speaker 1: 22 years of age. Boy, is he impressive. Six up.
- 48:18Speaker 1: One reach, double play erased. Next pitch, low, 2-0. Martinez,
- 48:24Speaker 1: 250 batting mark, five homers, 17 RBIs. The right-handers ready.
- 48:31Speaker 1: The pitch. And he went again with a changeup. It's
- 48:36Speaker 1: almost automatic when behind in the count tonight, he goes
- 48:40Speaker 1: with that low 90s changeup. Now the 2-1 pitch to Martinez.
- 48:47Speaker 1: A jack swing strike changeup. 2-2. Well, Carmen Grandin of
- 48:53Speaker 1: North Richville, tonight's Hyundai Grand Slam contestant trying to win
- 48:58Speaker 1: the Hyundai Kona, courtesy of your Northern Ohio Hyundai dealers,
- 49:02Speaker 1: visit HyundaiGrandSlam.com to enter. Now the 2-2. Swung on, skied
- 49:09Speaker 1: in the air, fairly deep right, near the line, Adele
- 49:13Speaker 1: at the wall, it is gone! It just kept carrying!
- 49:18Speaker 1: And on Hillmark with his sixth home run of the campaign,
- 49:24Speaker 1: he hit a changeup! He tried to triple up on
- 49:30Speaker 1: Martinez on the changeup, and he wasn't fooled this time.
- 49:35Speaker 1: And Cleveland It's the second home run of the year
- 49:39Speaker 1: given up by Ureña. 1-0 Cleveland here in the third.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Patrick Bailey to the plate. Switch hitting catcher. He'll bat left-handed.
- 49:54Speaker 1: The pitch. A swing and a miss. Strike one. Went
- 50:06Speaker 1: to the well one too many times. The 0-1 to Bailey,
- 50:11Speaker 1: and it's downstairs, one and one to count. Bailey batting 141,
- 50:19Speaker 1: a homer, five RBIs with the Giants and Cleveland. The
- 50:24Speaker 1: next pitch, and it's in there, a strike on a changeup.
- 50:30Speaker 1: This kid throws his changeup more than any other pitch.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And remember, he throws his fastball in the upper 90s.
- 50:41Speaker 1: He delivers and Bailey fouling it back. He came with
- 50:45Speaker 1: another changeup. The count one and two. So far tonight,
- 50:51Speaker 1: Ureña has thrown 21 changeups. 12 sinkers, 5 fastballs, 3 sliders.
- 51:00Speaker 1: The pitch, swing and a foul back. That was the
- 51:04Speaker 1: 98-mile-an-hour four-seam fastball. And a one-two count on Bailey. Bailey
- 51:13Speaker 1: doing a crash course in learning this Cleveland pitching staff.
- 51:17Speaker 1: The pitch, down low, two and two. He'll even catch
- 51:21Speaker 1: bullpens this week before games just to get more familiar
- 51:26Speaker 1: with all 13 pitchers. And he's got two great teachers
- 51:32Speaker 1: in Austin Hedges and David Fry. The pitch to Bailey,
- 51:41Speaker 1: and he fouled it off. Good changeup that he spoiled.
- 51:45Speaker 1: Patrick Bailey was a star at North Carolina State University
- 51:49Speaker 1: from the day he walked on campus in Raleigh. Then
- 51:54Speaker 1: the 13th pick in the first round by the Giants
- 51:57Speaker 1: six years ago. The 2-2. Swung on. Lined up the middle.
- 52:02Speaker 1: Caught by Netto. Diving into center. The shortstop. Robbed Bailey
- 52:08Speaker 1: of a base hit. Nicely done by Zach Netto and
- 52:13Speaker 1: Patrick Bailey. Robbed of a base hit. One down. Here's
- 52:19Speaker 1: Brian Rocchio. He got the big hit early last night.
- 52:23Speaker 1: A two-out, two-run single that eventually led to a 7-0
- 52:27Speaker 1: Cleveland lead. Rocchio batting left-handed. The shortstop takes the strike.
- 52:38Speaker 1: Acting manager Tony Arnerich, who tonight is back as the
- 52:42Speaker 1: bench coach, with Steven Vogt back in the dugout. That
- 52:47Speaker 1: pitch outside, one and one. He said to hit Rocchio
- 52:51Speaker 1: ahead in the second inning with two outs. Absolutely took
- 52:56Speaker 1: all the tension out of that Cleveland dugout. after a
- 52:59Speaker 1: rough weekend against Minnesota, hitting in the clutch. The pitch,
- 53:04Speaker 1: a swing and a ball that's banged by the diving
- 53:07Speaker 1: Shaunawell at first into right. Rocio with six hits in
- 53:13Speaker 1: his last two games and one at bat tonight. But
- 53:18Speaker 1: Tony Arnert said you could just see the tension leave everybody.
- 53:24Speaker 1: On that Rokio hit last night where it wasn't going
- 53:27Speaker 1: to be another case of woulda, coulda, shoulda. And then
- 53:32Speaker 1: the next inning, Cleveland erupted for five. Top of the order,
- 53:36Speaker 1: Stephen Kwan, single to left his first time up. The set,
- 53:42Speaker 1: the pitch, and he takes a borderline fastball strike on
- 53:46Speaker 1: the outer edge. Cleveland now three hits in the game.
- 53:53Speaker 1: They lead 1-0 here in the third. Ureña' s ready. Here
- 53:59Speaker 1: it comes. A throw to first instead and got off
- 54:02Speaker 1: the glove of Shonoel. Almost hit the umpire Dan Iasonia.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Rolls onto the grass and foul ground. Some of the
- 54:11Speaker 1: Guardians runners are starting to do this. Well, looks like
- 54:14Speaker 1: they're playing the game frogger. Jumping back and forth off
- 54:18Speaker 1: the bag at first. Sometimes you can get caught. In between.
- 54:22Speaker 1: The pitch. Up high. One and one. You use it
- 54:26Speaker 1: to distract the pitcher. Sometimes to get a better jump
- 54:30Speaker 1: if you're stealing. But sometimes you can get caught going
- 54:34Speaker 1: the wrong way and you're a dead pigeon going back
- 54:36Speaker 1: to first. Now the one-one. Waved at. One ball, two strikes. Changeup.
- 54:45Speaker 1: And Kwon tried to hammer one into the seats and right.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Now the 1-2. Swung on a chopper off the plate
- 55:01Speaker 1: toward first. Takes a high hop. Shanawell the flip to
- 55:04Speaker 1: Ureña covering for the out. Rocio to second. Kwon made
- 55:08Speaker 1: it close. Here's Chase De Lauder. Boy, this is why
- 55:13Speaker 1: this game is so puzzling. Ureña, who basically hasn't pitched
- 55:19Speaker 1: above double-A. Like I said, a handful of innings in triple-A.
- 55:24Speaker 1: But last year in double-A, In his four years in
- 55:29Speaker 1: the minor leagues, 15-27 with a 4.62 ERA. Big lead,
- 55:36Speaker 1: Rocchio draws the throw, just did get back with the dive.
- 55:40Speaker 1: The shortstop, Netto, cut in behind. They almost picked him off.
- 55:45Speaker 1: You look at those minor league numbers and you go, well,
- 55:47Speaker 1: how is he going to be successful on the big
- 55:51Speaker 1: league level? Well, he is all of that and more.
- 55:57Speaker 1: He is really impressive. Ureña' s ready. The pitch. Down and in,
- 56:04Speaker 1: ball one. De Lauder hit into a double play his
- 56:08Speaker 1: first time up. Chase De Lauder batting 4-0-4 over the
- 56:17Speaker 1: last 14 games. Now the 1-0. Down and in, ball two, 2-0-0. Boy,
- 56:26Speaker 1: the respect he's gotten in such a short period of time.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Chase DeLauder now being pitched to like he's Jose Ramirez. Very,
- 56:35Speaker 1: very carefully. Ureña, hands at the belt, lets it rip.
- 56:42Speaker 1: A swing and a foul. He came with a 2-0 changeup,
- 56:46Speaker 1: and it has just been a consistent trend. When behind
- 56:50Speaker 1: in the count, he goes to the changeup. That foul
- 56:57Speaker 1: ball got a piece of the throwing hand of the
- 57:00Speaker 1: young catcher, Omar Martinez. Now the set by Ureña. And
- 57:12Speaker 1: the pitch. Way outside and low. Another changeup. Four straight
- 57:25Speaker 1: change-ups to chase the lauder. Three and one to count.
- 57:35Speaker 1: He has sit-changed the pitch. He took it. It was
- 57:38Speaker 1: a strike on a sinker. 100 miles per hour. You
- 57:44Speaker 1: can't guess with this guy if he's throwing that hard.
- 57:47Speaker 1: If you're sitting change-up, you can't catch up to that fastball.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Now the payoff pitch. Swing and a foul at the plate.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Fought off another 100-mile-an-hour sinker. Where's that been? How in
- 58:05Speaker 1: the world is the opposition hitting. 455 off his sinker?
- 58:15Speaker 1: 1-0 Cleveland. Runner at second. Two down, third inning. And
- 58:19Speaker 1: now he steps off, grabs a handful of dirt. He
- 58:29Speaker 1: really hasn't developed a good breaking ball yet, but does
- 58:32Speaker 1: he need it? The pitch. Swing and a soft fly
- 58:37Speaker 1: ball twisting toward the line and left. And room there
- 58:40Speaker 1: to make the catch just inside the line by Lowe,
- 58:44Speaker 1: who hands the ball to a fan in the seats.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Cleveland takes the lead on the on-hill Martinez-Homer. 1-0 Cleveland
- 58:51Speaker 1: after 3.
