- 0:19that we learn from his life. So, over the coming weeks and
- 0:22Shalala, you'll be seeing more content from aftermarket of,
- 0:25which is specifically related to the Muharram season, and of
- 0:29course, fine. Dang ways for us as a community
- 0:31to discuss the issues that matter to us.
- 0:34And of course to find solutions for problems that we face, all
- 0:38of course, within the best of our ability and of course,
- 0:42Insha'Allah with the purest of intentions, welcome to the after
- 0:45marketer podcast, brought to you by a debate TV.
- 0:54Salam, aleikum Surah. Ali good.
- 1:00I'm good. The season of about the love her
- 1:03saying is upon us. It is it is indeed and
- 1:06Insha'Allah. We will try to do our very best
- 1:09to give Justice. To moment was saying during the
- 1:12upcoming podcasts, including today's, and should we tell the
- 1:15viewers? What we wish to discuss today?
- 1:18Yeah, I think well before we do that, Of course, before we go
- 1:22any further that a huge thanks to everyone at home for engaging
- 1:26with the podcast, we've released a few episodes now and I've
- 1:28handled the feedback has been very very interesting I think
- 1:33for us both in public and in private and I want to thank
- 1:35everyone no matter what sort of listener you are if you're
- 1:39involved in the community if you're not if you if you have a
- 1:41status or a sort of position in the community or even if you
- 1:44don't your feedback as equally as valuable to us and you know,
- 1:48just want to thank you. And if you're enjoying the
- 1:50content, Tent. Please subscribe to the
- 1:52aftermarket of Channel. We want to hit 1000 subscribers
- 1:56by the end of the year and Charles are so that is our goal
- 1:59but we need you to help us get there today.
- 2:02Say that Ali we're talking about about the love Hussein Saddam
- 2:06and specifically. We're talking about the way we
- 2:09commemorate them. The way we learn from him and
- 2:12also perhaps talking about those of us and many of us fall into
- 2:15this category of those people who find spirituality during the
- 2:20Season. But maybe flicker in our
- 2:23spirituality outside. Mmm.
- 2:25I'm on, you know, we are in the sorrowful month of Muharram and
- 2:28it's a time where everyone has their own personal connection
- 2:31with this month. You know, some people just want
- 2:33to mourn. Some people want to become
- 2:35better Muslim, some people want to do both.
- 2:38And then, you know, there are other people who just turn on
- 2:42during these ten nights. Mmm, so I, you know, you
- 2:45mentioned, everyone has their own way, you know, it's like
- 2:49seasonal. Oh yeah, where, you know, some
- 2:52people get attached to the month of Ramadan?
- 2:54But the more more importantly for shh, they have this sort of
- 2:58big attachment when it comes to the month of Muharram.
- 3:00And I believe is because they know what Imam Hussain means to
- 3:03them and they have this connection.
- 3:06Now, I'm not saying they don't have that connection directly
- 3:08from Allah by his fruit above the london-based that we can
- 3:11actually respond with Allah. So I've seen this like, sort of
- 3:14rise And I don't know if it's the right term to use why I'm
- 3:20going to call them part-time Muslims.
- 3:22Hmm, if it's fair, I hope I don't offend anyone listening to
- 3:25this because there is the sort of Rise where people only
- 3:28connect with about Abdullah. The message of Mombasa in the
- 3:31message of karbala during these 10.
- 3:33I don't think it's incorrect. Also to say that I knew speaking
- 3:37for myself, many of us feel it fall into that category
- 3:40ourselves. As, as you said, part-time
- 3:41Muslims, because it's natural when you're congregationally
- 3:45morning about Dalal Hussein has lots of live somewhere.
- 3:48They, we many of the time, we will more easily connect because
- 3:54we know in Islam when we mourn together when we pray together,
- 3:58when we do the liquor together, a last one to Allah gives us
- 4:01more blessings and opens your heart up even more.
- 4:03So of course when we are talking about Imam Hussein and when we
- 4:09sit together and modulus when we do love them or martim together
- 4:13that in a for many of us, Of us, opens our heart up and it's not
- 4:18in my opinion. It's not a bad thing.
- 4:20If anything to us, it should be a Beacon of Hope, like a kind of
- 4:26flickering candle in your heart, which says that there is hope
- 4:29inside you. There is some softness in your
- 4:32heart, which is leaning pulling you towards about Abdullah, it's
- 4:35just there for us to take it to the next level and escalate
- 4:39that, that small candle and turn it into a fire of love for the
- 4:44religion of Allah small island on for ultimately, Lonely, of
- 4:47course, of course. And and, and no way.
- 4:49Am I saying, for example, I am or you are.
- 4:51Yeah. Anyone's better than anyone, but
- 4:54it's something. I've always thought about
- 4:57because, you know, Imam Husain was more than just these ten
- 5:01nights and Imam Hussein, is someone who is bigger than just
- 5:05a hazard, or everything, you know, because we know for
- 5:08example, like, even during the Battle of karbala, he stopped to
- 5:12pray Salah, and there's all these things.
- 5:15And when I say, But part-time Muslims, let me just make it
- 5:18clear. I am not a full-time Muslim.
- 5:19We try to be we try to we try called is there and show this?
- 5:23I love the fact. How Imam Hussain brings them
- 5:26back to that path. Brings them back to Allah
- 5:30subhanahu wa'ta'ala and I don't know if it's, for example, the
- 5:35communities fall, I don't know if it's, you know, the majority
- 5:39says, was attracting them or taking them away from the Census
- 5:42best just to see them, attend the ten nights just to see them,
- 5:45you know? Dressing in the black morning
- 5:48above the line for saying is something amazing.
- 5:50Just to see mom was saying how he brings everyone, no matter
- 5:52how far you've gone, you know how much you know some people
- 5:55lose their way in life, that seemed a saying, brings them
- 5:58back and back here after the message of Imam, Hussain is
- 6:03infectious, my opinion. I think that there's so many
- 6:07things for us to take away with and even if you are home are not
- 6:11fully connecting with the modulus you don't fully get it.
- 6:14Yeah you go your goal. Liz there.
- 6:17It's okay. If you if you're unable to shed
- 6:19a tear for a mom, who saying at this stage, it's okay.
- 6:23Don't worry about it. You see people posting poetry,
- 6:26you see people reciting lock me out, you see, people sharing
- 6:29videos tweeting, Yahoo saying, all sorts of different things
- 6:33and you feel where do I fit into this community?
- 6:36What lights absolutely fine. As long as you're gold, you're
- 6:38near is that to get to the stage where about, the lies are
- 6:41crucial critical and crucial part of your life, because we
- 6:44know him as sophina tonnage, The Ark of Salvation.
- 6:47Imam, Hussain will take us from where we are to where we need to
- 6:51get to, you know, the Imam Hussain is our salvation and
- 6:55Dunya and in akhirah Charla. So, you know, that's a big
- 6:59reason why I think many of us fall in love with with these
- 7:04that's the season. You just.
- 7:05I think you know hit the nail the hammer fall in love and
- 7:10we're saying is literally the meaning of Love.
- 7:12Hmm. You know that I once I once
- 7:15wrote some poetry It's like every love has an ending except
- 7:18for the love of Husain way and and I think it's that love that
- 7:22brings everyone towards. You know, the majority is
- 7:25towards our towards the service and you know what's so beautiful
- 7:28about serving him a saying is that no one loves to be called
- 7:31the servants but everyone dies to be called Servants of your
- 7:34own her, same Marshall and it's again even those people who are
- 7:39not really connected with the faith.
- 7:41Those people who are not really you know, doing the watch about
- 7:44all the time, it is because of him Mom.
- 7:46Saying they are coming back and they are doing the watch about
- 7:49and in fact, they're doing even more, they are doing the most
- 7:51Hibachi and it's it's just to think how Imam Hussain has like
- 7:57change the world. It's crazy.
- 7:59It's crazy. You know, there are so many
- 8:01people who look at us and they say you.
- 8:03She are why do you care so much about her saying?
- 8:06I'm Natalie? Why'd you come every single
- 8:09year. All you do is talk about Imam
- 8:10Hussein. You want to know why we talk
- 8:13about her saying that? I need so much.
- 8:15It's because As we learn from him, it's because we remember
- 8:20that about Abdullah. Al Hussein has a legacy and
- 8:23those who understand Imam hussain's Legacy, understand
- 8:26that. If you see something in the
- 8:28story of your mom, you can apply it to your life.
- 8:30If you see famine and thirst in the world around you you
- 8:33remember Al Abbas. And you remember how he went out
- 8:37of his way? He lost his Limbs and his life
- 8:39to quench? The Thirst of the women folk in
- 8:41this Camp. When you see bullying in school,
- 8:44your children are suffering in school.
- 8:46You remember, I'll pass him how as a young man, he stood in the
- 8:49face of Oppression, and he stood tall regardless of any
- 8:54aggression or violence that he was faced with.
- 8:56And when you see domestic abuse, when you see violence with
- 8:59disparities amongst genders, you remember, zainab, Salam, allahi,
- 9:03Allah. And we remember how she stood
- 9:06told in the court and she addressed the people like a
- 9:08lioness, the daughter of Ali bin ABI Talib.
- 9:11And we remember that not just the rights of women, but we
- 9:14acknowledge the power a woman can have Hold in today's day and
- 9:17age. These lessons are not there for
- 9:19us to just come and commemorate on a seasonal basis before us to
- 9:23taken to implement at least in my humble opinion into the rest
- 9:27of the year and into wider Society indeed.
- 9:31But Sade of course, many of us were talking about this concept
- 9:33of part-time Muslims, with many of us struggle to find that
- 9:36connection between the 10 nights of Muharram and of course other
- 9:39buy-in and wider Society. I go to my job and in the
- 9:43evening I'm going to modulus. Yeah.
- 9:45How do I bring That gap between what I'm hearing and what I'm
- 9:49seeing outside of the modulus. You know, a beautiful question
- 9:54you asked because I think it's something I can relate to myself
- 9:57personally. That's, you know, especially,
- 10:01like during the month of Muharram its life becomes more
- 10:05than just the ten nights modulus.
- 10:07So you sort of live. Every moment of the sorrowful
- 10:11nice, all the way until the day of our wine till after supper.
- 10:14Yeah. And you sort of continue.
- 10:17So, you know, I spoke about people being part-time best.
- 10:25Even those part-time is become full-time as comes during this
- 10:27tonight. So, for example, you know, we
- 10:30can start our day off, listening to the orchestra and, you know,
- 10:34this opens the hot, you know, as much as sad to listen and
- 10:38understand the worst that's being said, and as you are it
- 10:41really opens the heart. And once you hear this Tiara
- 10:45from the I think you've solved set tone of how the evening so
- 10:49you have like sort of prepare yourself to go towards Majoris
- 10:52and throughout the measures and the morning of the are short,
- 10:55you go to your day-to-day work, you dressed in black, you know,
- 10:59you're still feeling that morning, you know, emotion and
- 11:04your thoughts are still about, you know what you heard in the
- 11:06majority of the day before and so it's more than just lessons
- 11:13during the majority's itself. So you can even Even you bring
- 11:16the example of drinking water, remembering the other, and
- 11:20something. So, beautiful.
- 11:21That even outside of the thinness of Muharram or even
- 11:25outside the the month of Muharram Safar, whenever you
- 11:28drink water automatically thinking of saying, yes, and I
- 11:31just remembered a beautiful organization called Hussein
- 11:35drink with, I think Hussein. And it's it's it's it's an
- 11:39amazing message for the meeting with it is this interesting as
- 11:42well, especially when we talk about the concept.
- 11:46Of using, I know you mentioned, is reciting the outside
- 11:49shoulder. Mmm, at the beginning of the
- 11:50day, I think something like that.
- 11:52Small thing like that can make a difference to long-term change
- 11:55because in my opinion, the month of Muharram as a trigger or
- 12:02maybe, as a catalyst should be used to find small changes, you
- 12:06can make in your life. What is about Delight?
- 12:08If he's not sacrifice, what's his message?
- 12:10If it's not giving you know you give something which you
- 12:13wouldn't usually give all you take away something which you
- 12:16love ya. I think during these nice your
- 12:18heart becomes softer. Yeah.
- 12:19And you are less, you know, it's less about, you know, should I
- 12:24say enjoying the day? It's more about, you know, a
- 12:27compliment of accomplishing. What the task is, getting it
- 12:30done was not being too energetic about it but you know, your
- 12:33heart softened. So everything changes around
- 12:35you, what you do at home, how you speak with people, even how
- 12:39you look at yourself. So not only you always liked
- 12:42right away, smiled, be energetic, best Softness say
- 12:46this, in my opinion, I think it goes one step further because of
- 12:50course, these are the things that will do whether or whether
- 12:52or not we fully connect with about the large, you get me, so
- 12:55will wear black and will feel sad and so on and so forth as we
- 12:59should 100%. But there are small things, I
- 13:03think we should, we should take into account every year and
- 13:06small things we can sacrifice. I've Pasar possibly like,
- 13:09misunderstood the conversation here in at all.
- 13:11No, I don't think one example. So, as an example let's say,
- 13:16Something small in your life, you want to get rid of something
- 13:19which is not less aim for something in your life.
- 13:22You want to get rid of. It doesn't have to be too
- 13:24magnanimous to the point where I think this is a mammoth task.
- 13:27I can't do it. Yeah, but it doesn't have to be
- 13:29so easy to put in. Think this is really easy for me
- 13:31to stop doing auto, start doing as an example, if you're
- 13:34listening to music, okay? And you stopped listening to
- 13:37music during Muharram every year, but you restart after my
- 13:40arm has many people do. Let's go that one step further.
- 13:45If you're watching something, you shouldn't be watching doing
- 13:48something. You shouldn't be doing that goes
- 13:49for men and for women use this chance.
- 13:52This opportune moment to take into account, the sacrifice that
- 13:56you would make in previous years or even not but apply what you
- 13:59learn and what you cry for and what you're in for the night.
- 14:01Apply that to the day do things that you wouldn't usually do
- 14:05stop doing things that you usually do.
- 14:07Do you see what I mean? I think I think those are the
- 14:10things which which are critical for us to do these days.
- 14:13You know I saw him on the stand your point now and you mentioned
- 14:17something you mentioned music and music is a huge, huge
- 14:20problem. Yeah, I respect the fact that
- 14:24people actually turn off completely at least for the
- 14:28first time nice of Muharram is completely turned off and it's
- 14:31something you know I have high respectful best.
- 14:35It's a shame that people continue back to the music just
- 14:39as soon as our children is off and I really hope people can
- 14:45change and learn that, you know, Muharram and Imam Hussain.
- 14:52And the message of Allah is not just 10 days and it's not just
- 14:5430 days on Amazon. For example, it's it's your day
- 14:57to day, life, you know, being a Muslim.
- 15:00Yeah. In particular, being a Shia
- 15:02Muslim, you always have to be one.
- 15:05Step ahead, do one step more than everyone else and honestly,
- 15:08because we have the best of examples and we can always
- 15:11relate to the best. And then from the elevated level
- 15:14sallam, and you know, they speak so heavily against music for
- 15:17example, but unfortunately, people still listen to it after
- 15:20tonight's that's one thing I think the youth sorry to use the
- 15:26phrase again, the part-time is they just turned off during the
- 15:29ten nights. Yeah, that's not just music, but
- 15:30other things it is talking to the other gender.
- 15:33You know, they stopped going out for example, to have fun with
- 15:37the boys or the girls with the females.
- 15:39It's let's try do more, yeah. I mean, you mentioned music
- 15:45personally, speaking, I can relate to this.
- 15:48I used to struggle with music a lot.
- 15:51Hmm, a lot Growing Up. Music is an addiction and if
- 15:55you've not faced it likely not imagining you struggling with me
- 15:58snuff music. Honestly, speaking is addictive,
- 16:02it's a drug and many people are, we have to understand because we
- 16:06don't to sit here looking like people who are like, you know,
- 16:09what do we call it? Like, I'll come and do what the
- 16:13people who like looking down. We don't be condescending in the
- 16:16way we approach this, because we have to understand that many
- 16:18people involuntarily. Listen to music.
- 16:20You're born into a culture, you don't live, for example, in
- 16:24Muslim area, some people do, but even then we go to schools with
- 16:27surrounded by it. We go shopping, we're surrounded
- 16:29by it. We turn on the radio in the car,
- 16:31we're surrounded by it, YouTube adverts, everywhere you go.
- 16:34You're faced with music when I was about 15, know when I was
- 16:37maybe 16 or 17, I was one of those.
- 16:42Time is when it came to music specifically every Muharram from
- 16:45a young age, my parents and credit to them.
- 16:48They hummed along may Allah bless them, lengthen, their
- 16:50lives. Always would tell me this is
- 16:53what you should be doing and don't just stop in Muharram,
- 16:55stop for good. You know, in those days, it was
- 16:58really easy. I think to get around, listen to
- 17:01the music and being caught, but I must have been when I was
- 17:04about 17, I heard a lecture in my local Center and it was on
- 17:10the night of Oshawa. The night of the 10th and it was
- 17:13a youth seminar. This just goes to show why youth
- 17:17seminars are so important outside of the majority, this
- 17:20itself. And someone asked a question
- 17:21about, how can I take something away from this night or tomorrow
- 17:26night and apply it to my life? And the, the sheriff said
- 17:30something very applicable. He said find something small
- 17:33which you know, you shouldn't do something that you want to stop
- 17:36doing. Just make that near tonight.
- 17:39I'm about to they'll be there. He'll help you.
- 17:41He's the witness to your Of you. See what I mean?
- 17:44I went home. I did all the songs of my phone.
- 17:46One by one. Took me few hours, but I
- 17:49remember that day and it was for me, it was like a revelation,
- 17:53I'm not gonna lie, I had a relapse here or there, but that
- 17:57was, you know, for a short period.
- 17:58And once you make that first step, it becomes so much easier,
- 18:01and it's not just music. It's other addictions, we talk
- 18:04about drug addictions all the time.
- 18:06We talk about, you know, a substance abuse.
- 18:09But outside of that addictions in today's day and age like
- 18:11social media, Are talking to the opposite, gender.
- 18:14We've always talked on this podcast.
- 18:15How easy is to talk to girls on social media for girls, to talk
- 18:19to boys, it's an addiction. Find a way to stop it, saber
- 18:22smell and take it day by day. I want to ask.
- 18:25You said, if you in that position and I don't know if you
- 18:27have been but for those who stopped listening to music but
- 18:31people who are like like Melodies, you know, you can
- 18:34relate to that. What can you recommend?
- 18:37I mean, me personally and I'm being very honest here.
- 18:39I have never had the Handler. Yeah, I've never been in that
- 18:45situation where music is always playing in the errors or
- 18:50something. For me is like, you know, you go
- 18:51into a store Tesco and stereo background or your hearing on
- 18:56the, when I was a kid TV on the cartoons, Johnny, yeah.
- 18:59That was like my exposure and then, you know, friends are
- 19:01school. They should play in the
- 19:03background. So for me, it was all just was
- 19:05the surrounding, slight noise. Yeah, was it means directly best
- 19:10for someone who's struggling. Music.
- 19:13There is alternative. Okay, firstly, Quran al-karim.
- 19:17That's before I get into anything else.
- 19:19That is the is Yanni just hearing the words and it is
- 19:24recited by someone with the most amazing Melody.
- 19:28It takes you to the heavens. Honestly.
- 19:30It's 10 times 100 times 1000 times better than music itself.
- 19:34And but more importantly, if we're discussing music around
- 19:37the month of Muharram you can listen to 0, you can listen to
- 19:42lectures, you can listen to no has loved me has eulogies and
- 19:47you know mashallah very recently over the last few years.
- 19:51You know the voice of shh eulogist, has upgraded.
- 19:56Yeah so you know you've got just like Dude, you're recording on
- 19:59and on, you've got people using western-style Melodies.
- 20:03So there are alternatives and these are the adults and it's,
- 20:05and it satisfies that craving. I think it does.
- 20:08I think it does. The fact that you can hear these
- 20:11even outside of the month of Ramadan, of the month of
- 20:15Muharram. You know, I think that's a
- 20:17really good point because specifically speaking and 10,
- 20:20we're going to come to the discussion of other diary in
- 20:24future to conversations, but I Leave.
- 20:28And I may be wrong but I believe there's a Hadith where there's a
- 20:31moment, Barker alaihi Salam gathers around 100 to 120
- 20:36eulogists with the most beautiful voices, and he says to
- 20:40them dispersed into the lands and tell the people the story of
- 20:44my grandfather using your voices because that will connect to
- 20:47people. Me personally, it was do I just
- 20:50this year, which is a beautiful doll.
- 20:53I'll be honest. I didn't know this dog before
- 20:56before that, when I stopped Music.
- 20:58It was my mom who introduced me to it and she was a bit of a
- 21:04weird backstory but she had a dream of my mother Houma, Auntie
- 21:08reciting it, my dad sister, and she came and she told me she was
- 21:12said, we're going to listen to this every day.
- 21:13I want you to learn it. So I learnt it and I had that
- 21:15craving for something melodic. Do you saw him?
- 21:19Allah? Bless us all.
- 21:20That's beautiful. Yeah, I mean and it's those
- 21:22things I pick up. You stop picking up a lot of
- 21:25information. You learn about other cultures
- 21:26other languages. Other Ways of morning other ways
- 21:29of grieving poetry. There's so many beautiful
- 21:32insights which you can pick up but I think obviously music has
- 21:35one angle one element but it's as a story or as a concept that
- 21:39the sacrifice that you make is applicable to so many other
- 21:42things. I mean music, it's one of many.
- 21:44Yeah. You know you got music you've
- 21:47got interacting with the opposite John I think that's the
- 21:51most biggest want to be honest because of the age we live in,
- 21:53especially on social media. On this new world.
- 21:56We came up with digital her job. Yeah.
- 21:58It is so easy. Like, I think, even during the
- 22:00month, the month of Muharram people are still speaking with
- 22:05the opposite gender and the excuse of, you know, we're
- 22:08discussing the little carbonara with discussing modulus or
- 22:12whatnot. Best even that I'm not we aim to
- 22:18get rid of it completely, but if you can't at least take a ten
- 22:21step slower, you know, if just because you were discussing or
- 22:27relating to them, For model, doesn't mean you can continue
- 22:29talking with the opposite gender.
- 22:30For example, has only you go, the music issue.
- 22:32You've got the opposite gender issue.
- 22:33You got another thing. Another thing that's really,
- 22:36really sad. Yeah, it's that a lot of the
- 22:41time after the measures is over, we have people going out and
- 22:48laughing. Yeah.
- 22:49So, I'm not saying they're going out to have fun basis us if they
- 22:52just, you know, they stepped outside the measureless They go
- 22:56back to spining. Laughing joking.
- 22:59And I think that's something that also should be avoided.
- 23:01Because if that's something you avoid it will change.
- 23:06Its very easy to turn a majority or turning modulus into a social
- 23:09Affair. And, you know, I haven't seen
- 23:11these guys reunions and you having fun and even to be fair,
- 23:15goes with all age groups. Like I remember they, when I was
- 23:19a kid. Yeah, let's just say, for
- 23:20example, don't joke, don't laugh, don't smile cause I know
- 23:24a small quite a bit, it's a Must have been my nature.
- 23:28It's not bad things. Say that's, they even went.
- 23:31As far as telling me, you know, don't you come during, for
- 23:34example, the month of Muharram, you know, because the seen as
- 23:36something as disrespectful, is anything that we can see might
- 23:40be a disrespect to Imam. Hussain alehissalaam?
- 23:43Is your brain is telling you something, you all disrespect, I
- 23:45think. I think we have to, we have to
- 23:47think of it from an angle of Imam.
- 23:50Hussain alehissalaam means to us more than our own parents.
- 23:57Bi bi and only me, you know, what I mean?
- 24:00And when we say this, we are actually committing to Mom and
- 24:04her saying our parents and not just our parents, but our whole
- 24:07being ourselves and God forbid, you know, if something happened
- 24:13to one of our close family members, we would naturally be
- 24:16sorrowful. Gonna be disrespectful, we
- 24:18shouldn't go to see films. We wouldn't go to a modulus and
- 24:23start joking around, so we need to change the way.
- 24:25See if Imam Hussein and we said at the beginning, for those who
- 24:28don't even have that emotional connection, it's fine.
- 24:30Make the near, you know, when we say about crying in the modulus
- 24:33even the span of the wing of a fly, if a tear comes out of
- 24:37your, I thought am I will be there for you and just to add to
- 24:41that. They actually even say that if
- 24:42you can't shed, tears. Yeah, you can actually just bow.
- 24:45Your head down, low your head. Yeah, that's efficient enough.
- 24:48You get the same reward but said, let me ask you if someone
- 24:51at home is listening to this right now and, and As this in
- 24:56their heart and they think I really want to connect this
- 24:59Muharram, I even outside of the ten days.
- 25:01I struggle I just doesn't click with me.
- 25:04Like it does I'm falling out of love or a but I know I shouldn't
- 25:08be. What would you have to say to
- 25:09them? Johnny, I can, you give me an
- 25:12example? If someone's listening to this,
- 25:15they think they go to the matches.
- 25:16Every time they look around, they see, two three, four
- 25:20hundred people crying. And they're just thinking, where
- 25:23do I fit in? Because there are people like
- 25:26that. There are people who think, I
- 25:27don't feel like I'm fully apart of this outside of this much
- 25:30since I have my own identity. I have my own life, but I know
- 25:34there's in my heart. I'm here.
- 25:36I want to make benefit of it. I want to change the way I look
- 25:39at it. What would you have to say to
- 25:41that? I think number one they're not
- 25:43alone. There are many who fall into
- 25:45that category even sometimes our self.
- 25:47Yeah. Sometimes I can go to
- 25:49measureless one day. I can be like seriously heavily
- 25:52emotionally like into it upside down.
- 25:56And then for example, you'll have one night where you, you
- 25:59know, really shedding tears and you look around and you say you
- 26:03know what have I done wrong sometimes I think like there's
- 26:05no tears coming out. Sometimes I'm like, have I done
- 26:08something wrong has something like affected?
- 26:10Because I've always had like for example like if you do something
- 26:14that's not accepted by the elevator is very rare that
- 26:16you'll actually shed tears for them.
- 26:18So sometimes I have that thought so never know runs are no when
- 26:20it comes to this because I believe if they can understand
- 26:24fully why we are morning, they will have that connection.
- 26:28Because a lot of people and I think myself back in the day,
- 26:34all I knew was, for example, you know, thankfully, I was raised
- 26:37in the household, I am in and grateful to my father.
- 26:40I think but there were some points where I'm like things
- 26:43don't make sense or for example Shimmer I use a rocket on.
- 26:47This is my mean what you call that what you call it in
- 26:51English. For example why did this happen
- 26:55or for example the demand for saying no he was going to die
- 26:59like all these questions if you actually is not the understand.
- 27:02Yeah, everything that happened at karbala and everything before
- 27:07karbala happened after karbala happened, you will have that.
- 27:10Connection. Because a lot of times I feel
- 27:13like people who don't have that connection with the nice of
- 27:15Muharram or the message of Imam, Hussain, they don't really know
- 27:19what happened at car, but all they know they grew up.
- 27:21Is your own percent died? He was killed by someone called.
- 27:24Yes, you did. And Zana went along to become
- 27:29Captain, so they don't know everything and all they know is
- 27:31those small small things honestly.
- 27:33Speaking said, sorry to interrupt you also say like I
- 27:37think I think it's okay for that but I don't mean it's okay to No
- 27:40thing, of course, if we have the opportunity, we need to know as
- 27:43much detail as we can. But there are so many disputed
- 27:45elements but the main thing is, is that we live in a world now,
- 27:5121st century Society now, more than ever does our generation
- 27:56within our community and The Wider outside Society need to
- 27:59know about Imam, Hussein they do and we don't have any, we don't
- 28:02have excuses. By the way, the fact that you
- 28:04say we live in the 21st century. Yeah, we have every resource
- 28:06available to us. Yes, the internet exactly be it.
- 28:10You to be apple podcasts. I'm sure I'm very sure.
- 28:13There are lectures. And there are sermons and there
- 28:17are everything that has to do with carpal mineable.
- 28:19Unlike Point specifically in regards to this is, you made a
- 28:22really nice statement. When you said, we need to
- 28:25understand why we are mourning because Imam Hussein, when he
- 28:28said Hellman lasted only until Donna, he's not just talking to
- 28:31the people around him on that day 10th of Muharram.
- 28:33All those years ago he's talking to us today because we see greed
- 28:37and capitalism in society. Do we?
- 28:39Not think that people who Struggling with poverty would be
- 28:42in need of Imam. Hussain for hope we see for
- 28:44example, war and famine destruction left, right and
- 28:47Center. Do we not think that people who
- 28:49are war-torn refugees and Asylum Seekers can benefit from the
- 28:52message of my person. Even for us our day-to-day lives
- 28:55and allow, we're settled, and we're comfortable and all of
- 28:58Allah's blessings to us even in our lives.
- 29:01When we see some form of Oppression, we see some form of
- 29:04Injustice, we learn from about the lad that stand up.
- 29:08Don't take it stand up and And speak up and these are the
- 29:12lessons, which I think the wider world needs to know is all well
- 29:15and good talking about Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa and so
- 29:17on. But it mom and her saying, we
- 29:20truly believe will give us that and more, do you see what I
- 29:23mean? So, I think when we understand
- 29:25that Imam Hussein, and, and the concept of morning goes beyond
- 29:29what our community, and what our families have taught us, an Imam
- 29:32hussain's messages, ultimately Universal, which I know is a
- 29:36cliche term, but his Universal message is such that Even the
- 29:40the most kind of the skeleton details of his story should and
- 29:45will inspire The Wider world but it's our responsibility to get
- 29:48out there. It is our responsibility and you
- 29:50said something, by the way. So amazing.
- 29:52And it really makes sense any for people to go out and search
- 29:57and research and try to understand what happened.
- 29:59Yeah, I kind of a lot because at the end of the day, what
- 30:02happened I cared about was a tragedy of course, but what was
- 30:04the reason for my mom, saying to come out.
- 30:06Mmm, like people don't know why he came out, all they know
- 30:09someone killed. The grandson of rasool Allah and
- 30:11like I said by is it? And but I was more than that he
- 30:16actually came to restore. The faith of Allah and bring
- 30:20back the teachings of his grandfather or sort of lost a
- 30:22lolly - Elam. And he sacrificed himself, and
- 30:25his family in the way of Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala.
- 30:27So, had it not been for that sacrifice as a not being for,
- 30:30you know, Imam Husain where even when the floor all day, it was
- 30:35gone and he said, behold hot Ava, got take all you want until
- 30:39you are satisfied. like he gave everything family himself even
- 30:46knew his women are going to go captive, like he gave everything
- 30:50for Allah, subhanahu, wa'ta'ala Somali Somali, Camilla
- 31:01Realistically, there will be no Salam.
- 31:04Ya abso. We are grateful and thankful.
- 31:07This is one of the reasons we remember him.
- 31:09And we have to remind ourselves. Now, ask you as my brother, to
- 31:14always keep me on on that path nudge me.
- 31:17Remind me together, together in sha Allah, and we should do that
- 31:20for each other. Because there's so many of us,
- 31:21our friends, our community members who are struggling and
- 31:25it could be your mental health. You could be struggling at work,
- 31:28you could be struggling in your marriage, but these are things,
- 31:30which We have to find a connection between our
- 31:34day-to-day issues and problems and connecting that with sort of
- 31:38Abdullah Hussein. I believe that for every issue
- 31:41we have in our lives today. There's an answer if we're
- 31:43talking about Mis-Education, Miss information, how people are
- 31:47being misguided, because, of course, this is a huge issue.
- 31:49Right now, in wider Society, we look at the companions of
- 31:53Abdullah, that although it's a minority, there are those who
- 31:56remembered the truth and the rightful message of Imam,
- 31:59Hussain and stayed close to him. I'm out that whether that take
- 32:02them that took them to the Salvation to the ultimate
- 32:05promise, you know, the Tranquil soul that we yearn to be.
- 32:09And the last one Tyler talks about in the Holy Quran.
- 32:11And of course we know the root of our serum that is referring
- 32:13to a mom and her saying but we yearn to be tranquil in our
- 32:18dealings and you know as much as we would love to.
- 32:21Let's be frank and I say this like to all my might like
- 32:24friends and family. The police were bored of hearing
- 32:26it from me but over 1400 years. Naught Point naught naught,
- 32:31naught, naught, naught 1, or if you're not UK, 0.0001 percent of
- 32:36people who have ever believed in Shi ISM or the message of about
- 32:39that. I have ever visited, karbala we
- 32:42are such a, my new population of people who have had the blessing
- 32:46to go. And of course, we love to go
- 32:48every year. We would love to visit him all
- 32:50the time. Reality is life isn't like that.
- 32:53We do have Peaks and Trust we fall in and out of love.
- 32:56We remember and we forget about Imam Hussein in our day-to-day
- 32:59lives. The most important thing for us
- 33:01to do is like, you said incorporate habits in our life,
- 33:04which will bring us back to the right path.
- 33:07So, what I mean, I think for me at least, like I when I struggle
- 33:11and I struggle a lot and, you know, only Allah knows, but when
- 33:15I struggled, and then when I hear his message, or I hear a
- 33:19poem or hear something, you've aside to say it or honestly in
- 33:23it triggers something in my heart and it brings you closer.
- 33:26Yeah, yeah, that's that's right. And, you know, Just by you
- 33:30saying, this was a lot honestly. All I could think of this car
- 33:32Belong by the way, so those sharks are as follows Allah to
- 33:36grant us the opportunity like human to go to the holy shrines
- 33:39and, you know, people listening to this podcast, be at home
- 33:42wherever you are Channel like to see the opportunity as well.
- 33:45And more importantly, I think speaking of Zara, mmm, the most
- 33:50beautiful thing for you to have connection with the amount for
- 33:54saying, is go to see our. Mmm.
- 33:56Honestly, it's something else. If you ever have the haja that
- 34:02your first, if you've never been zero before they say, the first
- 34:05time that you go and enter the shrine of Imam Hussain and you
- 34:08stand on the his Dome and you ask Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala
- 34:11throw, Bob De La Hoya just guaranteed hmm.
- 34:15It's it's something everyone has tried and test have if you don't
- 34:20mind, I know where dragging on. I want to ask you, how many
- 34:23times have you been okay? On average roughly or the, the
- 34:27first time I was blessed to go to Ciara.
- 34:30Was when my father passed away. So before my father passed away,
- 34:34I've never been there because he's buried.
- 34:35Incredible do so, we had the blessing.
- 34:39Yeah, of his burial taking place in the holy land, so we were
- 34:42able to go to the, do the genre. But ever since yeah, I've been
- 34:47trying to go every single year and I think I've been there
- 34:50during are buying about four times more shallow and outside
- 34:54the bar behind. I've been to Iraq.
- 34:57I think about 45 times as well. So oftentimes A, since the into
- 35:01the same 2008 Shah Alam going, this are buying God.
- 35:04Willing fly is booked us inshaallah amongst ourselves
- 35:08with calm and sha Allah shall upon sisters as always.
- 35:11It's been a pleasure being here with you.
- 35:13We hope inshallah you have enjoyed this discussion as much
- 35:17as we have and we pray of course.
- 35:18Before we go any further that this month is life-changing for
