You Were Never Missing Anything: Returning to the Happiness You Already Carry · Create Love Create Freedom

0:01
SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Create Love, Create Freedom Podcast.
0:06
SPEAKER_00: This podcast explores feminine psychology, embodiment, sovereignty, relationships, archetypes, and conscious womanhood in a post-spectacle world.
0:20
SPEAKER_00: My name is Alison Fisher, and my work centers on internal authority and relational clarity across the seasons of a woman's life.
0:36
SPEAKER_00: Today I want to explore an idea that has been living in my mind for quite some time.
0:44
SPEAKER_00: And that is what if happiness is not something we achieve?
0:49
SPEAKER_00: What if happiness is not waiting for us at the end of the next promotion, the next relationship, the next degree, the next ten pounds lost, the next milestone, or the next version of ourselves?
1:06
SPEAKER_00: What if happiness is not something we earn?
1:09
SPEAKER_00: What if it is something we remember?
1:12
SPEAKER_00: I think many of us come into this world knowing who we are, not in a fully developed sense, of course.
1:20
SPEAKER_00: We grow, we mature, we learn.
1:23
SPEAKER_00: But there is something natural and whole about children.
1:27
SPEAKER_00: They are curious, they are creative, they are playful, they are fascinated by the world.
1:34
SPEAKER_00: They are not constantly evaluating themselves against everyone around them.
1:40
SPEAKER_00: A child does not wake up wondering if she is productive enough.
1:45
SPEAKER_00: She does not wonder if she is successful enough.
1:49
SPEAKER_00: She does not wonder if she is beautiful enough.
1:52
SPEAKER_00: She does not wonder if she has accomplished enough to deserve love.
1:58
SPEAKER_00: Yet somewhere along the way, many of us learn to ask those questions.
2:03
SPEAKER_00: We inherit expectations from family, culture, media, institutions, and society itself.
2:12
SPEAKER_00: We are taught what success should look like.
2:15
SPEAKER_00: We are taught what happiness should look like.
2:19
SPEAKER_00: We are taught what kind of life is considered impressive, desirable, or worthy.
2:26
SPEAKER_00: And without ever even realizing it, many of us begin building lives around external approval rather than internal truth.
2:38
SPEAKER_00: Now I want to be clear about something.
2:41
SPEAKER_00: This is not an episode about abandoning ambition.
2:45
SPEAKER_00: This is not an episode about rejecting success, wealth, achievement, or meaningful work.
2:52
SPEAKER_00: In fact, I think ambition is beautiful.
2:55
SPEAKER_00: I think creating beautiful things in the world is beautiful.
3:00
SPEAKER_00: I think building businesses, writing books, raising children, creating art, serving communities, pursuing mastery, and contributing something meaningful to humanity can all be deeply sacred acts.
3:17
SPEAKER_00: The question is not whether we should create, the question is why.
3:22
SPEAKER_00: Are we creating because we love life?
3:25
SPEAKER_00: Or are we creating because we are trying to prove that we deserve our place within it?
3:31
SPEAKER_00: Because those are two very different paths.
3:35
SPEAKER_00: One is rooted in enoughness, the other is rooted in deficiency.
3:41
SPEAKER_00: One creates freedom, the other creates exhaustion.
3:46
SPEAKER_00: And today I want to explore happiness, self-trust, worthiness, and sovereignty.
3:53
SPEAKER_00: I want to explore what happens when we stop asking achievement to tell us who we are.
4:00
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps most importantly, I want to explore what becomes possible when a woman finally realizes that her worth was never waiting for her on the other side of success.
4:13
SPEAKER_00: It was hers all along.
4:16
SPEAKER_00: Let's begin.
4:19
SPEAKER_00: First, we're going to examine the happiness we begin with.
4:24
SPEAKER_00: I want to begin with a question.
4:27
SPEAKER_00: When was the last time you felt completely at home within yourself?
4:33
SPEAKER_00: Not because something wonderful happened, not because someone complimented you, not because you achieved your goal, not because you received validation, but simply because you were alive.
4:47
SPEAKER_00: For many people, that feeling can be surprisingly difficult to remember, and yet I think most of us have experienced it before.
4:58
SPEAKER_00: In fact, I think many of us experienced it long before we learned to doubt ourselves.
5:05
SPEAKER_00: When I look at children, one of the things that strikes me is how naturally they engage with life.
5:12
SPEAKER_00: They are curious, they are imaginative, they are playful, they are fascinated by things adults often overlook.
5:22
SPEAKER_00: A puddle, a flower, a bird, a story, a question, a possibility.
5:30
SPEAKER_00: They are not constantly calculating their worth.
5:34
SPEAKER_00: They are not endlessly measuring themselves against everyone around them.
5:39
SPEAKER_00: They are not asking whether they have done enough to deserve belonging.
5:44
SPEAKER_00: They simply belong.
5:46
SPEAKER_00: They exist, and that existence is enough.
5:51
SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, childhood is not perfect.
5:55
SPEAKER_00: Some people experience very different and difficult childhoods.
6:00
SPEAKER_00: Some experience instability, neglect, trauma, or circumstances that force them to grow up far too quickly.
6:10
SPEAKER_00: I'm not suggesting that childhood is some idealized paradise.
6:15
SPEAKER_00: What I am pointing toward is something more fundamental.
6:20
SPEAKER_00: Beneath all the conditioning, there is often a natural orientation toward life itself.
6:29
SPEAKER_00: There is curiosity before comparison, wonder before self judgment, presence before performance, and then gradually we learn something different.
6:42
SPEAKER_00: We begin receiving messages about who we should be, what we learn what is admired, we learn what is rewarded, we learn what is considered attractive, successful, intelligent, desirable or important.
7:03
SPEAKER_00: Some of these lessons are necessary.
7:06
SPEAKER_00: Learning responsibility is important.
7:09
SPEAKER_00: Learning discipline is important.
7:12
SPEAKER_00: Learning how to function within a community is important.
7:17
SPEAKER_00: But somewhere along the way many of us absorbed another message entirely.
7:23
SPEAKER_00: A message that sounds something like this You are valuable when you achieve, you are worthy when you perform, you are lovable when you meet expectations, you matter when others approve of you.
7:41
SPEAKER_00: And so begins the lifelong chase, the chase for success, the chase for recognition, the chase for validation, the chase for a version of ourselves that finally feels acceptable.
7:57
SPEAKER_00: Yet what fascinates me is how often people achieve the thing they thought they that would make them happy and discover that the feeling doesn't last.
8:10
SPEAKER_00: The promotion arrives, the relationship arrives, the degree arrives, the money arrives, the accomplishment arrives.
8:20
SPEAKER_00: And for a brief moment there is excitement, there may even be joy, but then the mind quietly moves the goalpost.
8:31
SPEAKER_00: Now it needs something else, something bigger, something better, something more.
8:38
SPEAKER_00: Because the problem was never the goal itself.
8:42
SPEAKER_00: The problem was asking the goal to answer a question it was never designed to answer.
8:49
SPEAKER_00: The question underneath so much striving is not how do I become successful?
8:55
SPEAKER_00: It is am I enough?
8:59
SPEAKER_00: And external achievements can never fully answer that question, because enoughness is not an achievement.
9:08
SPEAKER_00: It is a relationship with yourself.
9:11
SPEAKER_00: I think that this is why many spiritual traditions, psychological traditions, and wisdom traditions throughout history point toward a similar truth.
9:24
SPEAKER_00: Not that we need to become more, but that we need to remember.
9:29
SPEAKER_00: Remember who we are beneath the noise, remember what matters beneath the expectations, remember what genuinely nourishes us beneath the endless pressure to optimize, form, improve.
9:46
SPEAKER_00: For women especially, this can be a profound act sovereignty, because we are often handed scripts about who we should be, how we should look, how we should age, what we should want, how we should spend our time, what should make us feel fulfilled.
10:09
SPEAKER_00: And yet there comes a point in every woman's life when she must ask herself a deeper question What is actually true for me?
10:19
SPEAKER_00: Not what my family wants, not what social media celebrates, not what culture rewards, what is true for me?
10:30
SPEAKER_00: Because that question is the beginning of self trust, and self trust is the beginning of freedom.
10:38
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps happiness is not something we need to chase quite so desperately.
10:43
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps it is not hidden behind the next accomplishment.
10:48
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps it is not waiting in some distant future where everything is finally perfect.
10:55
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps happiness begins much closer than we think.
11:00
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps it begins the moment we stop abandoning ourselves and start listening again.
11:08
SPEAKER_00: And it can also be the moment we become curious about who we were before the world told us who we had to be, the moment we begin returning to ourselves.
11:24
SPEAKER_00: Next we're going to look at why achievement cannot create worthiness.
11:30
SPEAKER_00: One of the most persistent beliefs in modern culture is that worthiness is something we earn.
11:37
SPEAKER_00: Not explicitly, of course.
11:39
SPEAKER_00: Very few people would say those words out loud.
11:43
SPEAKER_00: But if you pay attention to the messages we receive throughout our lives, the implication is often there.
11:50
SPEAKER_00: Achieve more, do more, become more, improve yourself, optimize yourself, fix yourself.
12:00
SPEAKER_00: And eventually, perhaps you will become worthy.
12:03
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps then you will feel confident enough, successful enough, attractive enough, important enough, just simply enough.
12:15
SPEAKER_00: The problem is that worthiness does not work that way.
12:18
SPEAKER_00: Worthiness is not a reward.
12:21
SPEAKER_00: It is not a trophy handed out at the end of a successful life.
12:26
SPEAKER_00: It is not something granted by achievement, status, beauty, wealth, education, or external approval.
12:36
SPEAKER_00: And yet many of us spend years, sometimes decades, trying to prove otherwise.
12:43
SPEAKER_00: We tell ourselves that when we reach the next milestone, things will finally feel different.
12:49
SPEAKER_00: When I get the degree, when I lose the weight, when I earn the promotion, when I find the relationship, when I build the business, when I make enough money.
13:02
SPEAKER_00: And then I will finally feel secure.
13:05
SPEAKER_00: Then I will finally feel valuable.
13:08
SPEAKER_00: Then I will finally feel worthy.
13:12
SPEAKER_00: But what often happens?
13:15
SPEAKER_00: We arrive at the milestone, and the feeling we're seeking never fully arrives.
13:21
SPEAKER_00: Or it arrives briefly and then disappears.
13:26
SPEAKER_00: The achievement itself may be wonderful, the accomplishment may be meaningful, the experience may be deeply fulfilling.
13:36
SPEAKER_00: But the underlying question remains unanswered, because the achievement was never actually solving the problem we thought it was solving.
13:47
SPEAKER_00: The achievement was real, the accomplishment was real, but the wound beneath it was never about achievement.
13:55
SPEAKER_00: It was about worth.
13:57
SPEAKER_00: This is why some of the most accomplished people in the world still struggle with self doubt, still struggle with comparison, still struggle with feeling like they are not enough, and still struggle with feeling the fear that everything could disappear tomorrow.
14:18
SPEAKER_00: If achievement created worthiness, highly successful people would never experience insecurity, and yet we know that they do.
14:28
SPEAKER_00: Because achievement and worthiness are not the same thing.
14:32
SPEAKER_00: Achievement is something you do.
14:35
SPEAKER_00: Worthiness is something you are.
14:38
SPEAKER_00: One is external, the other is intrinsic.
14:44
SPEAKER_00: One can be gained or lost, the other exists regardless.
14:50
SPEAKER_00: I think this distinction is especially important for women.
14:54
SPEAKER_00: Many women are taught to become extraordinarily skilled at earning approval.
15:00
SPEAKER_00: We learn how to perform, we care for others, we try to exceed expectations.
15:11
SPEAKER_00: We learn how to anticipate needs, and we learn how to become what others want us to be.
15:19
SPEAKER_00: And while these traits can be useful, they can also create a subtle trap.
15:26
SPEAKER_00: We begin believing that our value comes from what we provide, what we produce, what we accomplish, how well we perform, how much we sacrifice, how much we achieve.
15:41
SPEAKER_00: And eventually we become exhausted, because proving your worth is an endless job.
15:47
SPEAKER_00: There is always another standard, another expectation, another benchmark, another version of perfection waiting just beyond reach.
16:00
SPEAKER_00: The finish line keeps moving, not because you are failing, but because worthiness was never located there to begin with.
16:10
SPEAKER_00: This is where sovereignty enters the conversation.
16:13
SPEAKER_00: A sovereign woman does not stop growing, she does not stop learning, she does not stop creating, she does not stop pursuing meaningful goals.
16:24
SPEAKER_00: What changes is the relationship.
16:28
SPEAKER_00: She no longer pursues achievement in order to earn worthiness.
16:34
SPEAKER_00: She pursues achievement from a foundation of worthiness.
16:39
SPEAKER_00: That distinction changes everything for her.
16:44
SPEAKER_00: One woman says I need this success so I can finally feel good about myself.
16:50
SPEAKER_00: Another woman says I already know my value and I want to create something meaningful.
16:57
SPEAKER_00: Externally, her actions may look identical.
17:01
SPEAKER_00: Internally, they are living in completely different worlds.
17:06
SPEAKER_00: One is often driven by deficiency, the other is driven by expression.
17:14
SPEAKER_00: One is attempting to fill a void, the other is sharing a fullness.
17:21
SPEAKER_00: This is why I believe self-worth and achievement must be separated.
17:26
SPEAKER_00: Not because achievement is bad, not because ambition is bad, and not because success is bad, but because they are carrying a burden that they were never meant to carry.
17:38
SPEAKER_00: Your career cannot determine your worth, your income to not determine your worth.
17:45
SPEAKER_00: Your relationship status cannot determine your worth, your appearance cannot determine your worth, your accomplishments cannot determine your worth.
17:56
SPEAKER_00: Those things may reflect parts of your life, they may enrich your life, they may expand your opportunities, but they cannot tell you who you are.
18:08
SPEAKER_00: That answer must come from somewhere deeper.
18:11
SPEAKER_00: And when it does, something remarkable happens.
18:15
SPEAKER_00: The desperate striving begins to soften, the fear begins to loosen, the need to constantly prove yourself begins to fade.
18:26
SPEAKER_00: Not because you've given up on your dreams, but because your dreams are no longer responsible for your identity.
18:35
SPEAKER_00: You stop asking achievement to tell you that you matter, and for perhaps the first time in your life, you become free to create from a place of genuine self-trust.
18:50
SPEAKER_00: Not because you are trying to become worthy, but because you finally understand that you always were.
19:00
SPEAKER_00: Next, let's examine culture of never enough.
19:06
SPEAKER_00: If worthiness cannot be earned through achievement, then why do so many of us spend our lives trying?
19:15
SPEAKER_00: Because we live in a culture that profits from dissatisfaction, culture that quietly and sometimes very loudly teaches us that who we are right now isn't enough, not successful enough, not attractive enough, not wealthy enough, productive enough, not accomplished enough, and not optimized enough.
19:40
SPEAKER_00: And if we simply buy the right thing, achieve the right thing, fix the right thing, or become the right thing, then happiness will finally arrive.
19:51
SPEAKER_00: The promise is always the same.
19:54
SPEAKER_00: You are one step away, one purchase away, one promotion away, one relationship away, one transformation away, or one breakthrough away.
20:08
SPEAKER_00: The problem is that the destination keeps moving, and that is not an accident.
20:18
SPEAKER_00: A culture built upon consumption requires people to feel incomplete.
20:24
SPEAKER_00: A culture built on endless comparison requires people to feel inadequate.
20:32
SPEAKER_00: A culture obsessed with external metrics requires people to disconnect from their own inner knowing.
20:42
SPEAKER_00: Because a woman who treat truly deeply trusts herself is much harder to manipulate.
20:50
SPEAKER_00: A woman who knows what is enough for her is much harder to sell to.
21:05
SPEAKER_00: And so many of us learn to outsource our sense of self.
21:09
SPEAKER_00: We look outward for instructions.
21:13
SPEAKER_00: What should I want?
21:14
SPEAKER_00: What should success look like?
21:16
SPEAKER_00: What should my body look like?
21:18
SPEAKER_00: What should my relationships look like?
21:21
SPEAKER_00: What should my life look like?
21:24
SPEAKER_00: We become experts at measuring ourselves against standards we never consciously chose.
21:30
SPEAKER_00: And then we wonder why we feel exhausted.
21:34
SPEAKER_00: One of the greatest sources of suffering is not that we fail to reach our goals, it is that we spent years pursuing goals that do not actually belong to us.
21:47
SPEAKER_00: Goals inherited from family, goals inherited from culture, goals inherited from social media, goals inherited from old wounds and old fears.
22:00
SPEAKER_00: And goals are never rooted in our own deepest truth.
22:07
SPEAKER_00: And because those goals are disconnected from who we truly are, they often fail to nourish us even when we achieve them.
22:17
SPEAKER_00: This is one of the reasons comparison can be so destructive.
22:22
SPEAKER_00: Comparison assumes that someone else's path should somehow become the measurement of your own life.
22:30
SPEAKER_00: But your life is not their life.
22:33
SPEAKER_00: Your values are not their values.
22:35
SPEAKER_00: Your desires are not their desires.
22:38
SPEAKER_00: Your calling is not their calling.
22:42
SPEAKER_00: And yet we live in a world where we are constantly exposed to curated versions of other people's lives, their achievements, relationships, their homes, businesses, and milestones.
22:59
SPEAKER_00: We are shown the highlight reel and then encouraged to compare it to our everyday reality.
23:06
SPEAKER_00: No wonder so many people feel like they are falling behind.
23:11
SPEAKER_00: The game is unwinnable.
23:14
SPEAKER_00: The game is rigged.
23:16
SPEAKER_00: Because there will always be someone with more, more money, more recognition, more beauty, more influence, more accomplishment, and more status.
23:29
SPEAKER_00: If happiness depends on winning that game, happiness remains permanently out of reach.
23:37
SPEAKER_00: This is why I believe one of the most radical acts of freedom is defining enough for yourself, not according to culture, not according to social media, not according to what impresses other people, according to your own soul.
23:56
SPEAKER_00: What is enough income for you?
23:58
SPEAKER_00: What is enough success for you?
24:00
SPEAKER_00: What is enough work for you?
24:03
SPEAKER_00: What is enough achievement for you?
24:05
SPEAKER_00: What is enough responsibility and consumption for you?
24:10
SPEAKER_00: What is enough?
24:13
SPEAKER_00: Because until we define enough, we remain trapped in a system that benefits from our endless striving.
24:22
SPEAKER_00: The culture of never enough keeps us chasing.
24:26
SPEAKER_00: Culture of enough allows us to choose.
24:31
SPEAKER_00: And there is a profound difference between those two states.
24:35
SPEAKER_00: One is reactive, the other is sovereign.
24:39
SPEAKER_00: One is driven by external pressure, the other is guided by internal wisdom.
24:47
SPEAKER_00: One constantly asks, What do I still need to become?
24:52
SPEAKER_00: The other asks, what kind of life genuinely nourishes me?
24:58
SPEAKER_00: I think many women are arriving at this question right now, not because they lack ambition, not because they lack capacity or capability, but because they are beginning to recognize that endless striving is not the same thing as fulfillment, that busyness is not the same thing as meaning, that accumulation is not the same thing as abundance, and that attention is not the same thing as connection.
25:30
SPEAKER_00: And also that success, while wonderful, is not the same thing as freedom.
25:37
SPEAKER_00: Freedom begins when we stop allowing the culture to define our enoughness.
25:43
SPEAKER_00: Freedom begins when we stop measuring our lives against someone else's blueprint.
25:50
SPEAKER_00: Freedom begins when we reclaim the authority to decide what matters, to decide what is meaningful, to decide what is beautiful, to decide what is worth pursuing, and perhaps most importantly, to decide what is already enough.
26:11
SPEAKER_00: Because sovereignty is not merely the freedom to choose your path, it is the courage to choose the path that is genuinely yours.
26:22
SPEAKER_00: Let's examine wealth, stewardship, and the meaning of enough.
26:30
SPEAKER_00: Whenever we talk about enoughness, there is a misunderstanding that often emerges.
26:37
SPEAKER_00: People assume that enoughness means settling, that it means lowering your standards, that it means abandoning ambition, that it means rejecting wealth.
26:49
SPEAKER_00: But that is not what I believe it to be at all.
26:52
SPEAKER_00: In fact, I believe wealth can be a beautiful thing.
26:56
SPEAKER_00: I believe financial stability can be a beautiful thing.
27:00
SPEAKER_00: I believe that creating resources, opportunities, security, and abundance can be deeply life giving.
27:08
SPEAKER_00: The question is not whether wealth is good or bad.
27:12
SPEAKER_00: The question is what role we ask wealth to play in our lives.
27:17
SPEAKER_00: Because wealth is an extraordinary tool, but it is a terrible source of identity.
27:26
SPEAKER_00: Money can solve many problems.
27:28
SPEAKER_00: It can create safety, it can create freedom, it can create options, it can create flexibility, it can create opportunities for generosity.
27:39
SPEAKER_00: It can allow us to support what causes we care about.
27:43
SPEAKER_00: It can allow us to care for ourselves and those we love.
27:48
SPEAKER_00: It can provide room to breathe.
27:51
SPEAKER_00: These are meaningful gifts.
27:53
SPEAKER_00: But money cannot answer existential questions.
27:57
SPEAKER_00: It cannot tell you who you are.
28:00
SPEAKER_00: It cannot tell you whether you matter.
28:03
SPEAKER_00: It cannot tell you whether you are lovable.
28:06
SPEAKER_00: It cannot tell you whether your life has meaning.
28:10
SPEAKER_00: And when we ask wealth to do those things, we often end up disappointed, because no amount of money can resolve a wound that was never financial to begin with.
28:23
SPEAKER_00: This is one of the reasons I am so interested in the concept of stewardship.
28:29
SPEAKER_00: Stewardship feels very different from accumulation.
28:33
SPEAKER_00: Accumulation asks how much can I gather?
28:36
SPEAKER_00: How much can I own?
28:38
SPEAKER_00: How much can I acquire?
28:41
SPEAKER_00: How much can I control?
28:43
SPEAKER_00: Stewardship asks something different entirely.
28:48
SPEAKER_00: How well can I care for what has been entrusted to me?
28:52
SPEAKER_00: That is a very different orientation toward life.
28:57
SPEAKER_00: A steward understands that resources carry responsibility.
29:01
SPEAKER_00: Whether those resources are money, time, health, knowledge, influence, relationships, creativity or opportunity.
29:12
SPEAKER_00: The question becomes not merely what we possess, but how we use it.
29:17
SPEAKER_00: And I think this perspective changes our relationship with wealth entirely, because wealth stops being a scoreboard.
29:25
SPEAKER_00: It becomes a responsibility, a privilege, a tool, an opportunity to create stability, beauty, and contribution.
29:36
SPEAKER_00: The mature woman understands this.
29:39
SPEAKER_00: She is not ashamed of wanting financial security.
29:43
SPEAKER_00: She is not ashamed of wanting abundance.
29:47
SPEAKER_00: She is not ashamed of wanting her work to be well compensated, but she is also not asking money to tell her who she is.
29:57
SPEAKER_00: She understands that wealth can support a meaningful life, yet she knows that wealth itself is not the source of meaning.
30:06
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps this is where the conversation about enough becomes so important.
30:13
SPEAKER_00: Because enough is not a universal number.
30:16
SPEAKER_00: Enough is not the same for every woman.
30:20
SPEAKER_00: Enough is not determined by culture.
30:23
SPEAKER_00: Enough is not determined by social media.
30:26
SPEAKER_00: Enough is not determined by comparison.
30:30
SPEAKER_00: Enough is deeply personal.
30:34
SPEAKER_00: For one woman, enough may mean a quiet life, meaningful relationships, and financial simplicity.
30:42
SPEAKER_00: For another, enough may include building companies, employing hundreds of people, and creating significant financial impact.
30:53
SPEAKER_00: Neither path is inherently more evolved, neither path is inherently more worthy.
30:59
SPEAKER_00: What matters is whether the life is aligned, whether the life reflects what is genuinely true for that woman.
31:09
SPEAKER_00: I think many of us have been taught to define enough based upon what impresses other people, and that can become a trap.
31:19
SPEAKER_00: Because there will always be another level, another house, another title, another accomplishment, another milestone, another benchmark.
31:30
SPEAKER_00: Enough can never be reached if enough is defined by comparison.
31:35
SPEAKER_00: This is why defining enough for yourself is such a profound act of sovereignty.
31:41
SPEAKER_00: It requires honesty, it requires self-trust.
31:46
SPEAKER_00: It requires the willingness to step away from collective expectations and listen to your own inner wisdom.
31:56
SPEAKER_00: What kind of life actually nourishes me?
31:59
SPEAKER_00: What kind of work feels meaningful to me?
32:02
SPEAKER_00: How much is enough for me?
32:05
SPEAKER_00: What am I truly trying to create?
32:08
SPEAKER_00: These questions matter because once you know what enough means for you, something remarkable happens.
32:16
SPEAKER_00: You stop living from scarcity, you stop living from perpetual dissatisfaction.
32:23
SPEAKER_00: You stop chasing simply because everyone else is chasing.
32:28
SPEAKER_00: Instead, you begin building intentionally, you begin creating intentionally, spending intentionally, saving intentionally, leading intentionally, and you begin living intentionally.
32:46
SPEAKER_00: And from that place, wealth becomes something beautiful, not because it proves your worth, not because it makes you superior, not because it finally validates your existence, but because it allows you to become a more capable steward of the life you have been given.
33:07
SPEAKER_00: To me, that is the deepest purpose of abundance, not endless accumulation, but conscious stewardship, not proving that you are enough, but having the resources to care for what matters most.
33:25
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is one of the greatest forms of wealth available to any of us to know what is enough, to build it deliberately, and then to have the wisdom to enjoy it.
33:43
SPEAKER_00: We're going to discuss ambition after enoughness.
33:48
SPEAKER_00: One of the biggest misconceptions about enoughness is that people assume it will make you less ambitious, that if you stop striving from insecurity, you'll stop striving altogether.
34:08
SPEAKER_00: If you stop proving yourself, you'll stop growing.
34:12
SPEAKER_00: But I have found the opposite to be true.
34:15
SPEAKER_00: In fact, I think some of the most powerful ambition emerges after enoughness, after worthiness, after self-trust, after sovereignty.
34:27
SPEAKER_00: Because when you are no longer using achievement to earn your value, achievement becomes free to become what it was always meant to be, which is an expression of who you are, not a justification for who you are.
34:49
SPEAKER_00: The distinction is subtle, but it also changes everything.
34:54
SPEAKER_00: Most of us were taught a version of ambition that is rooted in deficiency, a version that says work harder, achieve more, become more, prove yourself, stay hungry, never be satisfied, never stop climbing.
35:12
SPEAKER_00: And underneath all of that is an unspoken message.
35:16
SPEAKER_00: You are not yet enough.
35:20
SPEAKER_00: Problem is that ambition built upon inadequacy eventually becomes exhausting, because no accomplishment can permanently sue the wound that says I am not enough.
35:34
SPEAKER_00: The goal is achieved, the milestone is reached, the recognition arrives.
35:40
SPEAKER_00: And yet the feeling of insufficiency remains.
35:44
SPEAKER_00: Goal posts simply move again, more success, more status, more validation, truth.
35:52
SPEAKER_00: The cycle continues.
35:55
SPEAKER_00: Not because ambition is flawed, but because ambition has become attached to the wrong purpose.
36:03
SPEAKER_00: Ambition was never meant to create worthiness.
36:06
SPEAKER_00: It was never meant to establish your value.
36:10
SPEAKER_00: It was never meant to answer the question of whether you deserve to exist.
36:15
SPEAKER_00: That question must be settled somewhere deeper, and once it is, ambition transforms.
36:22
SPEAKER_00: The sovereign woman does not stop creating.
36:26
SPEAKER_00: If anything, she often becomes more creative, more courageous, more visionary, more willing to pursue what genuinely matters.
36:38
SPEAKER_00: Because she is no longer spending so much energy trying to prove herself.
36:44
SPEAKER_00: She is free, free to experiment, free to fail, free to change her mind, free to evolve, and free to build what she actually wants to build.
36:57
SPEAKER_00: This is where ambition becomes generative rather than extractive.
37:03
SPEAKER_00: Extractive ambition asks what can I get?
37:07
SPEAKER_00: What can I win?
37:09
SPEAKER_00: What can I prove?
37:10
SPEAKER_00: How can I finally be enough?
37:14
SPEAKER_00: Generative ambition asks what can I create?
37:18
SPEAKER_00: What can I contribute?
37:20
SPEAKER_00: What can I steward?
37:22
SPEAKER_00: What wants to emerge through me?
37:26
SPEAKER_00: Do you feel the difference?
37:28
SPEAKER_00: One is rooted in scarcity, the other is rooted in abundance.
37:34
SPEAKER_00: One is constantly taking, the other is constantly and continually creating.
37:42
SPEAKER_00: And I think this distinction matters enormously, especially for women, because many women have been given two choices that are both incomplete.
37:53
SPEAKER_00: The first says be ambitious, work constantly, hustle endlessly, sacrifice yourself, tie your identity to your achievements.
38:05
SPEAKER_00: The second says reject ambition, stay small, want less, make yourself comfortable, avoid your power.
38:17
SPEAKER_00: Neither path feels fully true.
38:20
SPEAKER_00: The mature feminine path is something different altogether.
38:24
SPEAKER_00: The mature feminine path says know your worth, trust yourself, honor your desires, and then create from that place.
38:36
SPEAKER_00: Not because you need to prove your value, but because you have something meaningful to bring into the world.
38:43
SPEAKER_00: This is why I believe ambition can actually deepen after enoughness.
38:49
SPEAKER_00: Because it becomes cleaner, the noise falls away, the comparison falls away, the desperation falls away.
39:00
SPEAKER_00: What remains is desire, authentic desire, desire to create beauty, desire to solve problems, desire to build businesses, the desire to write books, the desire to raise families, the desire to lead communities, and the desire to continue something meaningful during the time we have here.
39:28
SPEAKER_00: That kind of ambition is not soul sucking, it is life giving.
39:34
SPEAKER_00: It does not drain us because it aligns with who we are.
39:39
SPEAKER_00: It is not fueled by fear, it is fueled by devotion.
39:44
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is the real transformation.
39:47
SPEAKER_00: The question is no longer what do I need to achieve in order to become worthy?
39:54
SPEAKER_00: The question becomes what am I here to create now that I know I already am?
40:01
SPEAKER_00: That is a very different relationship with ambition.
40:06
SPEAKER_00: It is a very different relationship with success, and I believe it is one of the greatest freedoms available to us.
40:15
SPEAKER_00: Because when enoughness comes first, ambition no longer feels like a burden.
40:22
SPEAKER_00: It becomes a privilege, a creative force, a sacred expression of life itself, not something that consumes your soul, something that allows your soul to participate more fully in the world.
40:41
SPEAKER_00: Lastly, let's look at how sovereignty is remembering.
40:47
SPEAKER_00: Throughout this episode, we've talked about happiness, worthiness, enoughness, wealth, stewardship, and ambition.
40:58
SPEAKER_00: And yet beneath all of those conversations, I believe there is an even deeper truth, truth that many of us spend years, sometimes decades, slowly finding our way back to.
41:22
SPEAKER_00: I think personal growth is often misunderstood.
41:25
SPEAKER_00: We imagine that growth means constantly adding, more knowledge, more accomplishments, more credentials, more experiences, more achievements.
41:38
SPEAKER_00: And certainly there is value in all of those things.
41:42
SPEAKER_00: But some of the most profound growth I have experienced in my own life has felt less like acquiring something and more like removing something, removing expectations that never belonged to me, removing inherited beliefs, removing fears, removing old stories, removing identities I had outgrown, removing the need to constantly prove myself.
42:11
SPEAKER_00: And underneath all of that, discovering that there was something whole there all along, not perfect, not finished, not even fully evolved, but whole.
42:25
SPEAKER_00: I think that this is why so many wisdom traditions describe awakening as remembering, remembering what is essential, remembering what is true, remembering what cannot be taken away by circumstances, success, failure, praise, criticism.
42:46
SPEAKER_00: Because so much of modern life encourages us to forget, forget our instincts, forget our own desires, forget our own rhythms, forget our own wisdom, forget what genuine genuinely nourishes us, forget what actually matters.
43:06
SPEAKER_00: And when we forget ourselves, we become easier to control, easier to manipulate, easier to convince that happiness exists somewhere outside of us, some future version of ourself, some future achievement, some future milestone, or some ther life.
43:30
SPEAKER_00: But sovereignty asks us to pause, to stop running for a moment, to stop proving, to stop performing, to stop chasing, and to ask a different question.
43:45
SPEAKER_00: What if I am not lost?
43:48
SPEAKER_00: What if I have simply been disconnected from myself?
43:52
SPEAKER_00: That question changes everything.
43:55
SPEAKER_00: Because if you are lost, the solution is to become someone else.
44:00
SPEAKER_00: But if you are disconnected, the solution is to return, to listen again, trust again, to remember again.
44:10
SPEAKER_00: And this return often happens through very ordinary moments, a walk in nature, a conversation that speaks to your soul, a journal entry, a moment of stillness, a decision that finally feels aligned.
44:28
SPEAKER_00: A boundary honors your truth, a dream you can no longer ignore.
44:35
SPEAKER_00: These moments may seem small, yet they are often the breadcrumbs that lead us back to ourselves, back to the woman beneath the conditioning, back to the woman beneath the expectations, back to the woman beneath the endless pressure to become more.
44:55
SPEAKER_00: And what we often discover is surprising.
44:59
SPEAKER_00: Woman we were trying so hard to become was already there, beneath the noise, waiting patiently, waiting for us to trust her, waiting for us to listen, and waiting for us to remember.
45:14
SPEAKER_00: I think that this is especially important for women, because many of us have been taught to look outside of ourselves for authority, to seek permission, to seek approval, to seek validation, to seek certainty from sources beyond our own knowing.
45:36
SPEAKER_00: But sovereignty requires something different.
45:39
SPEAKER_00: It requires reclaiming our inner authority, not because we know everything, and not because we never make mistakes, and not because we have all the answers, because we trust ourselves enough to navigate uncertainty.
45:57
SPEAKER_00: We trust ourselves enough to learn, we trust ourselves enough to choose, we trust ourselves enough to build the lives that reflect our deepest values rather than someone else's expectations.
46:14
SPEAKER_00: This is the heart of feminine sovereignty, not domination, not control, not perfection, self-possession, the ability to belong to yourself, the ability to hear your own voice amidst the noise of the world, the ability to create a life that feels true even when it doesn't look like it to everyone else, or it doesn't look like everyone else's life.
46:47
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is where happiness lives, not in the absence of challenges, not in the achievement of perfection, not in a life where every desire has been fulfilled, but in the quiet knowing that you are living in a relationship with yourself, that you trust yourself, that you belong to yourself, that your life reflects what is genuinely true for you.
47:18
SPEAKER_00: When we arrive there, something remarkable happens.
47:22
SPEAKER_00: We stop searching quite so frantically, we stop measuring quite so obsessively, we stop proving quite so relentlessly, and instead we begin living, not as an idealized future version of ourselves, but as the woman we have been all along.
47:43
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is the deepest form of freedom, not because you're becoming someone else, but because you are finally remembering who you are.
47:58
SPEAKER_00: As we come to the end of today's conversation, I want to leave you with a simple question.
48:04
SPEAKER_00: What if there is nothing fundamentally wrong with you?
48:08
SPEAKER_00: Not nothing you wish to improve, not nothing you wish to learn, not nothing you wish to create, but nothing fundamentally wrong?
48:20
SPEAKER_00: What if you are not a problem to be solved?
48:23
SPEAKER_00: What if you are not a project that must constantly be optimized?
48:27
SPEAKER_00: What if your life is not waiting to begin once you finally become enough?
48:33
SPEAKER_00: Because I think many of us have spent years living as though happiness exists somewhere in the future, after the next accomplishment, relationship, promotion, degree, milestone, and transformation.
48:49
SPEAKER_00: And yet life has a way of reminding us that there is always another milestone, another goal, another horizon, another mountain to climb.
49:00
SPEAKER_00: Which means if happiness is always waiting there, it never truly arrives here.
49:09
SPEAKER_00: This does not mean we stop dreaming, it does not mean we stop building, it does not mean we stop creating.
49:16
SPEAKER_00: In fact, I hope this episode has shown the opposite.
49:20
SPEAKER_00: I hope it is shown that when worthiness is no longer tied to achievement, our ambitions can become more authentic, more joyful, creative, and aligned.
49:33
SPEAKER_00: We stop creating from fear, we stop creating from deficiency, we stop creating in order to prove ourselves, and instead we create because we are alive, because we care, because we have gifts to share, because there are beautiful things we want to bring to the world.
49:54
SPEAKER_00: That is a very different relationship with success, a very different relationship with wealth, and a very different relationship with ambition, and perhaps a very different relationship with ourselves.
50:09
SPEAKER_00: So today I invite you to consider this.
50:13
SPEAKER_00: What if happiness is not something you achieve?
50:16
SPEAKER_00: What if happiness is something you practice?
50:20
SPEAKER_00: A morning cup of tea, a walk beneath the trees, a meaningful conversation, a book that expands your mind, a moment of laughter, a moment of beauty, a moment of gratitude, little pockets of aliveness woven throughout an ordinary day.
50:42
SPEAKER_00: Perhaps happiness has always been there all along, quietly waiting for your attention.
50:51
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps sovereignty begins when you stop searching for your worth and the approval of the world and begin trusting what has already existed within you.
51:02
SPEAKER_00: Your worth, your wisdom, your desires, your unique path.
51:08
SPEAKER_00: Not because you have earned them, not because you have achieved enough, not because someone else has granted you permission, but because they are already yours.
51:19
SPEAKER_00: You are never meant to spend your life proving that you deserve to exist.
51:25
SPEAKER_00: You are meant to live, create, to love, to steward, to contribute, and to become more fully yourself.
51:35
SPEAKER_00: And perhaps that is the journey after all, not becoming someone new, not earning your place in the world, but remembering who you are.
51:47
SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for joining me on today's episode.
51:53
SPEAKER_00: Let whatever was useful settle in its own time.
51:56
SPEAKER_00: Clarity I have found tends to unfold naturally, only give it space.
52:02
SPEAKER_00: Until next time, stay rooted, stay sovereign, and stay true to your feminine path.
