  SPEAKER_00: There are some places in the Bible when we read it and then we wonder,

  SPEAKER_00: "What did God mean by that?"

  SPEAKER_00: But not in Proverbs 6.

  SPEAKER_00: He lists straight up seven things He hates.

  SPEAKER_00: So in this five-minute episode,

  SPEAKER_00: we're going to talk about those things so we can make sure we're not doing them.

  SPEAKER_00: It's tempting to read this list found in Proverbs 6:16-19, and think, "I'm fine.

  SPEAKER_00: I don't do these things.

  SPEAKER_00: Only a bad person would do these."

  SPEAKER_00: Not so fast.

  SPEAKER_00: Let's get into it.

  SPEAKER_00: God hates a proud look.

  SPEAKER_00: And pride is any time that you overvalue yourself and undervalue others.

  SPEAKER_00: How easy is it to pass by someone and think you're better than them for whatever reason?

  SPEAKER_00: But the truth is, God hates a proud look.

  SPEAKER_00: He loves a humble heart.

  SPEAKER_00: God hates a lying tongue.

  SPEAKER_00: It's way too easy to say, "Well, I'm not a liar."

  SPEAKER_00: Well, I think we all better check our hearts on that one.

  SPEAKER_00: Big lies, little white lies, they happen when we say something that isn't true.

  SPEAKER_00: And if you still think you never lie,

  SPEAKER_00: how about when we intentionally leave out important facts so

  SPEAKER_00: that we're saying something but it's not the whole truth for our own purposes?

  SPEAKER_00: Yikes.

  SPEAKER_00: That brings it home.

  SPEAKER_00: God doesn't say that He only hates big lies that cause lots of trouble.

  SPEAKER_00: He said He hates a lying tongue, period.

  SPEAKER_00: The Bible tells us He commands us always to tell the truth.

  SPEAKER_00: Okay, #3.

  SPEAKER_00: God hates hands that shed innocent blood.
• 1:45
  SPEAKER_00: And this isn't referring to something that happens that's an accident.

  SPEAKER_00: It's something that's intentional.

  SPEAKER_00: It's physically hurting someone who has done nothing wrong.

  SPEAKER_00: And unfortunately,
• 1:57
  SPEAKER_00: all through time, there's never been a shortage of people who shed innocent blood.

  SPEAKER_00: Just think of the physical and emotional pain that's caused every day by this.

  SPEAKER_00: God tells us we're to respect all life because we're all made in His image.

  SPEAKER_00: God hates a heart that devises wicked plans.
• 2:20
  SPEAKER_00: And this is someone who plans deception.

  SPEAKER_00: It's not all about planning to rob a bank or steal someone's car.

  SPEAKER_00: Devising a wicked plan could just be setting up your coworker to take the fall
• 2:31
  SPEAKER_00: for some mistake you made.
• 2:33
  SPEAKER_00: Or a teen who might figure out a way to defy their parents and get away with it.

  SPEAKER_00: God wants us to devote ourselves to doing what is good.
• 2:41
  SPEAKER_00: We are to be holy as He is holy.

  SPEAKER_00: #5 God hates feet that are swift in running to evil.

  SPEAKER_00: There are those who seem to always find themselves on the edge of trouble.

  SPEAKER_00: It might be easy to be convinced by those around them to cause problems for others.

  SPEAKER_00: There are those that desire to actively participate in evil and God hates that.

  SPEAKER_00: He wants us to despise what is evil, to hold on to what is good.

  SPEAKER_00: God hates a false witness who speaks lies.
• 3:09
  SPEAKER_00: This is someone who gives false testimony.

  SPEAKER_00: Or misrepresents the facts.

  SPEAKER_00: They intend to stop someone from getting the whole story for whatever their own purpose is.

  SPEAKER_00: But God expects the opposite from us.
• 3:30
  SPEAKER_00: He wants us to always be honest and tell the truth.

  SPEAKER_00: And last but not least, #7.
• 3:32
  SPEAKER_00: God hates the one who sows discord among brethren.

  SPEAKER_00: This means those who delight in causing problems, chaos, and division
• 3:47
  SPEAKER_00: Sometimes people will call them pot stirrers.
• 3:51
  SPEAKER_00: Always stirring the pot.
• 3:53
  SPEAKER_00: Nothing can ever be calm.
• 3:55
  SPEAKER_00: They have a way of using gossip or half-truths to stir up bad feelings or anger

  SPEAKER_00: to get people to go against each other.

  SPEAKER_00: God wants us to be peacemakers.
• 4:05
  SPEAKER_00: He wants us to love one another and be kind to one another.

  SPEAKER_00: Well, there you have it.

  SPEAKER_00: The seven things God put in the Bible as warnings for us.
• 4:14
  SPEAKER_00: He hates these things, so we should be aware of them and do the opposite.

  SPEAKER_00: Let's be asking God to search our hearts and ask that
• 4:22
  SPEAKER_00: the Holy Spirit will show us anything we need to change,
• 4:25
  SPEAKER_00: because I'm going to be doing the same.
