- 1:10Speaker 1: We welcome everybody. We'd love to have you. Yeah, you
- 1:12Speaker 1: ready to talk Frozen in Love. I'm a little bit
- 1:15Speaker 1: crouchy at whoever suggested this movie? Uh oh, let's hear
- 1:20Speaker 1: a synopsis. Bad Boy hockey player Anim and struggling book
- 1:23Speaker 1: owner Mary must work together to help rehabilitate each other's
- 1:28Speaker 1: image their mutual animosity and attraction sees them struggle to
- 1:33Speaker 1: achieve their goal. What does that even mean? Their mutual
- 1:39Speaker 1: animosity introduction sees them struggle to achieve their goal. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 1: who wrote that? I don't care? Okay, sorry, I just
- 1:46Speaker 1: I can't get it up for this movie. Let me
- 1:49Speaker 1: hit you with some news and notes. Director Scott Smith
- 1:53Speaker 1: has thirty six directing credits, most recently Moonshine, a Canadian
- 1:56Speaker 1: TV series, but also the Story of Us Autumn, The
- 2:00Speaker 1: The Gourmy Detective, and Signed Seal Delivered for Hallmark.
- 2:06Speaker 2: This movie was written by Rick German. Would you say
- 2:10Speaker 2: German or German? I'd see German right.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yes. He has tons of Homemark movies, including Christmas at Castle,
- 2:18Speaker 1: Heart Groundswell, two Christmas and Evergreen movies, and A Shoe
- 2:24Speaker 1: Attics Christmas are among his twenty seven writing credits, but
- 2:29Speaker 1: most recently A Christmas Present, the CCB GAF Holiday movie.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Is he working for them? You know? Exclusively? Now you
- 2:41Speaker 1: ask a lot of questions. I don't know. I'm sorry,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I don't know either. Rachel Lee Cook also gets a
- 2:46Speaker 1: writing credit, and I was curious that she written more,
- 2:48Speaker 1: but no, this is the only writing credit on her resume,
- 2:50Speaker 1: although she does have one hundred to acting credits, most
- 2:54Speaker 1: recently on Netflix's A Tourist Guide Till She's done tons
- 2:59Speaker 1: of Hallmark. But let's be honest, she's always gonna be
- 3:02Speaker 1: Lady Boggs from She's All That to me. Okay, I
- 3:05Speaker 1: have a question here.
- 3:07Speaker 2: When an actor who's never written anything else is like,
- 3:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna write a Hallmark script today and then basically
- 3:15Speaker 2: throws like everything in the blender.
- 3:18Speaker 1: That's what I feel like this movie was about. Like,
- 3:21Speaker 1: she's just like the same page there. Friend. It's like
- 3:23Speaker 1: I can do it. I can do it, it can
- 3:25Speaker 1: do it. True trope trope trope, Yes, you can do it,
- 3:29Speaker 1: you can do and I believe in you.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Nope, Nile Mayer, I don't know why I get hung up.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It's it's now imprinted in my brain about his name anyway,
- 3:39Speaker 2: He plays hockey bad boy Adam Claiborne. He has fifty
- 3:42Speaker 2: two acting credits, and we most recently liked him in
- 3:45Speaker 2: the Family History Mysteries movie, which I hope we get
- 3:49Speaker 2: another one.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's in her DNA. I liked that movie and
- 3:56Speaker 1: I liked him in that movie. Wowie Zowie Victor's Inc.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Junior is back for the second week in a row
- 4:02Speaker 1: in a supporting role as teammate Chuck Foreman. I mean
- 4:07Speaker 1: talk about type cast.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Last week, he's a football player, this week he's a
- 4:11Speaker 2: hockey player.
- 4:13Speaker 1: And in both cases I liked him better than the lade. Well,
- 4:16Speaker 1: you liked him better than Adam. Yeah, okay, all right,
- 4:21Speaker 1: he's fine, we'll get to it. Okay, you're gonna have
- 4:24Speaker 1: to do the next one is that Keith mckeckney plays
- 4:26Speaker 1: dad Paul Campbell. And if he looks familiar to you
- 4:28Speaker 1: where he plays dad named Paul Campbell. Yeah, you wait.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Mary's name was Mary Campbell, Mary and Tyler Campbell. Okay,
- 4:37Speaker 2: the dad's name is Paul Campbell.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yes, And if he looks familiar, it's because he has
- 4:44Speaker 1: one hundred two acting credits, including, most notably to me,
- 4:47Speaker 1: he played the delivery boy in National Lampoon's Vacation. He
- 4:51Speaker 1: knucks in the door and he's like a delivery for
- 4:54Speaker 1: Clark w Brisbane. I'm sory it pull between the seeds.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Siliver's the jelly of the month club soups description. Clark
- 5:01Speaker 1: thinks it's his Christmas bonus. Was he a teenager. He
- 5:04Speaker 1: was young. I mean that movie's thirty plus years old. Yep,
- 5:08Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, that's funny. Did you recognize him? No?
- 5:13Speaker 1: But the second I saw it, I was like, that's
- 5:15Speaker 1: who it is. That's who it is. Madison Smith plays
- 5:18Speaker 1: brother Tyler Campbell. That's it. That's the note. Yeah, maybe
- 5:24Speaker 1: I ran out of news and notes, seamen. Finally, this
- 5:27Speaker 1: was filmed in Vancouver. What's your first impression of Frozen
- 5:31Speaker 1: in Love?
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, this is another PR rehab movie for sports guy
- 5:35Speaker 2: who bugs out?
- 5:36Speaker 1: That's your first impression? Yeah? Is this movie a collection
- 5:40Speaker 1: of short films? Let's talk about what we liked. Compliment
- 5:46Speaker 1: sandwich time. Okay, go ahead and you go. This might
- 5:50Speaker 1: be my favorite Nile Mater role. I like him as
- 5:53Speaker 1: a bad boy better than the DNA one. I like
- 5:58Speaker 1: the DNA one too, but I like him as a
- 5:59Speaker 1: bad boy. He was like bad boy light sure, Hallmark
- 6:04Speaker 1: bad boy, bad boy, Hallmark style, family friendly, bad boy
- 6:09Speaker 1: sounds funny, put that on a shirt.
- 6:13Speaker 2: So you like him as a bad boy who doesn't
- 6:16Speaker 2: look like that.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Bad of a boy. That's why I liked him. He
- 6:21Speaker 1: wasn't a jerk. He was likable.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Okay, because I have to go back to the never
- 6:27Speaker 2: kiss a guy in a Christmas never kiss a man
- 6:29Speaker 2: in a Christmas watchir or whatever sweatshirt.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Christmas hoodie. He was so unlikeable Holiday hoodie. He was
- 6:38Speaker 1: so unlikable in that movie. Yeah. I liked him. Okay,
- 6:44Speaker 1: Well I didn't hate him either. I wrote that I
- 6:47Speaker 1: have really.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Come around to him, and I didn't think he was
- 6:50Speaker 2: exceptional in this movie, especially because it's an older movie.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I think he's I have found him to be more
- 6:57Speaker 2: likable in his last movie that he was in, right, Like,
- 7:00Speaker 2: I feel like he's actor.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Yes, Hey, hot take. I think the hockey promo item
- 7:06Speaker 1: that they came up with actually pretty cool. The scarf, Yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 1: with her branding on it makes sense. I was like, hey,
- 7:13Speaker 1: nicely done. You got a promotional situation that actually makes sense.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Don't even get me started on their podcast you couldna.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Talk about that, but the scarf, Yes, I agree, it
- 7:25Speaker 2: was nicely done. And the PR person was like, oh,
- 7:28Speaker 2: it was all his idea. Did he have to talk
- 7:30Speaker 2: to like the marketing team at the ice hockey team
- 7:34Speaker 2: people like, I'm sure, but there did he put the
- 7:36Speaker 2: bill for this?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yes? And I'm sure they have a set price. You know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: you go to a baseball game and you get the
- 7:41Speaker 1: hat with like the radio station on it. Right, I'm
- 7:44Speaker 1: sure these teams have a set price to get your
- 7:48Speaker 1: logo on a promo item. You think he just paid
- 7:50Speaker 1: for it. Yeah, paid for the logo plus the item.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I think that's what he did.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Not a bad idea, not at all, not a bad idea.
- 7:56Speaker 2: But we are going to talk about that podcast. So
- 7:59Speaker 2: I did not hate when Adam shows at the live
- 8:02Speaker 2: podcast that they do where he shows up behind her
- 8:06Speaker 2: as a surprise and he wants to talk about Tom Sawyer.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that was cute. It was cute. Agree, and you
- 8:12Speaker 1: know she was like hoping he'd chop and he did. Yeah. Hey,
- 8:17Speaker 1: adult conversations were had. He finds out that his work
- 8:21Speaker 1: party conflicts with her promotional event and just talks to
- 8:24Speaker 1: her about it. Doesn't like really hold on too long.
- 8:28Speaker 1: He has a real conversation and she's like, yeah, dude,
- 8:31Speaker 1: you gotta go to that.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, but doesn't he have like an agent or somebody
- 8:35Speaker 2: who could help like work these things out?
- 8:37Speaker 1: What was there to work out? His boss was like
- 8:40Speaker 1: you gotta show up and schmooth these people because they're mad.
- 8:43Speaker 2: At you, but he also committed to this other thing.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He's on the promotional flyer for it.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 8:51Speaker 2: I think I think people would be like, whoa, that's
- 8:53Speaker 2: a big bait and switch. I thought this hockey dude
- 8:56Speaker 2: was going to be here and like suddenly he can't
- 8:58Speaker 2: be here to I'm.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Here, Adam, screw your dumb books. Yes, good point. Yes, uh.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I thought Mary's parents were very understanding when they were
- 9:07Speaker 2: sitting around the dinner table and like Mary's freaking out
- 9:10Speaker 2: about the bookstore potentially having to close, and they're like, this.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Was a reality. Yeah, we don't put that on your shoulders.
- 9:18Speaker 1: We knew that was gonna happen. You know. They were
- 9:21Speaker 1: very nice and they were like, honestly, we kind of
- 9:22Speaker 1: passed this along to you so we wouldn't have to
- 9:24Speaker 1: be the one bookstore.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Mary wish three things wished for The movie title is
- 9:31Speaker 2: so dumb Frozen in love. Frozen gives me like ice
- 9:35Speaker 2: hotel vibes. Yeah, like frozen in love. He's a hockey player.
- 9:41Speaker 2: A majority of this movie takes place in a bookstore. Yes,
- 9:45Speaker 2: not at the hockey arena. So what's there to be
- 9:47Speaker 2: frozen about?
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yes? Dumb? Make it a book pon the page something
- 9:52Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, something love on the page is not it?
- 9:56Speaker 1: But could then come up with an odder pairing than
- 9:59Speaker 1: the struggle bookstore and the hockey bad boy with a
- 10:02Speaker 1: rep to polish up. It's bizarre again. This is another
- 10:06Speaker 1: one of those Hallmark Roulette sip in the wheel, give
- 10:10Speaker 1: me a give me a small business, yes, give me
- 10:13Speaker 1: a person boom. I mean they make it make sense, like,
- 10:16Speaker 1: oh I love Tom Sawyer, but come on, that's a
- 10:19Speaker 1: reach deep. Also, what why does she need to learn
- 10:24Speaker 1: to play hockey? She doesn't, she I wrote, she doesn't.
- 10:28Speaker 1: She doesn't need to learn, Like why so she has
- 10:31Speaker 1: a better understanding of who this dude is. Cares? Yeah,
- 10:35Speaker 1: who cares? I'm not leaning. I was going to say,
- 10:39Speaker 1: do you go to work with your husband my husband?
- 10:41Speaker 1: I used to do the job my husband does, But
- 10:43Speaker 1: I don't feel the need to go sit in and learn.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I mean, go watch his games. If you're with it,
- 10:49Speaker 1: you don't need to learn to play.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah, no, dumb, Hey, justice for Devin Alexander. Now, I
- 10:55Speaker 2: don't know if you know who I'm talking about. He's
- 10:58Speaker 2: credited as the vendor. He is a dude that was
- 11:00Speaker 2: selling coffee from the like coffee cart thing we've seen
- 11:04Speaker 2: him in it, and a lot of stuff including the
- 11:06Speaker 2: Santa steakout loving Glacier National. It's a due time this
- 11:10Speaker 2: guy gets a leading role. I agree, I recognized his face,
- 11:13Speaker 2: but this movie, again, was back in twenty eighteen. He's
- 11:16Speaker 2: done a lot of work since then, so hopefully we're
- 11:19Speaker 2: like getting to that.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he played like an assistant with a bigger role
- 11:23Speaker 1: in more recent movies. The we don't serve coffee bit
- 11:28Speaker 1: is not cute. No, like, we don't have coffee and
- 11:32Speaker 1: he's like, oh, I'll go to boy a book. We're
- 11:34Speaker 1: they don't serve coffee. Dude, it's not funny.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You're so funny. That's funny that you have that take
- 11:39Speaker 2: because I think she was a super bitch in that scene.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Yes, but he says I'd like a cup of coffee
- 11:44Speaker 1: and she's like, we don't sell coffee.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I know, but she could have been more friendly and
- 11:50Speaker 2: been like, she has her own cup of coffee there,
- 11:53Speaker 2: which leads me to believe there's either a cuig or
- 11:55Speaker 2: a pot of coffee brewing someplace, and she would be like.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I mean, someone comes in and wants to buy coffee,
- 11:59Speaker 1: and I'm supposed to make them coffee from the bag.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And I would just be like, oh, why don't you
- 12:04Speaker 2: look around a little bit and I'll go get you
- 12:06Speaker 2: a cup.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Of coffee, and then maybe he's going to buy a book. Okay,
- 12:10Speaker 1: I hear you. Small business vibes, do whatever you gotta
- 12:13Speaker 1: do to get the sale. I just felt like he
- 12:17Speaker 1: was so in his own head about this place needs
- 12:21Speaker 1: to have the thing I wanted to have, because I've
- 12:23Speaker 1: decided it's gonna have the thing, like a bookstore sells coffee.
- 12:25Speaker 1: And when she tells you to your face, we don't
- 12:27Speaker 1: sell coffee, and you are just so in your head
- 12:31Speaker 1: about clearly I must be right here that you don't
- 12:35Speaker 1: let it go. He was not worthy of her making
- 12:39Speaker 1: him a cup of coffee. These are two problematic people here.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you. I didn't love Mary M. Stubborn
- 12:46Speaker 1: wouldn't listen to her brother MMM, who was truly worried about.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The business right, And she just was like putting in
- 12:52Speaker 2: her head in the sand about it. Yes, she was rude,
- 12:55Speaker 2: and I know it all.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I don't like people who feel like they're elitists because
- 12:59Speaker 1: they read books, gave me. I'll look. I don't find
- 13:04Speaker 1: myself to be elitist, and I would like to point
- 13:06Speaker 1: out that the vast majority of the books I read
- 13:09Speaker 1: are light, fluffy, distraction reads. I do not consider myself
- 13:12Speaker 1: well read in spite of the fact that I read
- 13:15Speaker 1: a lot, So I'm not a book elitist. J joking.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I am joking, but that's how she came off well
- 13:23Speaker 1: as a counterbalance to my We don't serve coffee isn't cute,
- 13:27Speaker 1: I will tell you. I also don't find the complete
- 13:30Speaker 1: ignorance about what sports are to be cute either. Hate it.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I think it's fine if you don't care about sports,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but when people are like, oh, you play hockey, do
- 13:42Speaker 1: you get any touchdowns? Come on, yeah, just don't. There
- 13:45Speaker 1: are lots of things I don't know, and I think
- 13:47Speaker 1: it's belittling when they do it. And if there's something
- 13:51Speaker 1: that I don't like, I don't try and tear it down, like, oh,
- 13:55Speaker 1: I couldn't be bothered to know anything about that, So yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: find it amusing. I didn't like it.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I don't believe that she and him are a match
- 14:04Speaker 2: at all. They're both stubborn people like that is not
- 14:07Speaker 2: going to work.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Out he's the nicer one in this relationship. I agree,
- 14:10Speaker 1: Like I could see falling for him. He's kind of
- 14:14Speaker 1: got some sweet moments, but Mary sucks. You know. I
- 14:19Speaker 1: don't think Rachel Lee Cook is super comfortable in this
- 14:23Speaker 1: role of uptight bookseller, like she wrote the Damn movie.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I understand, but I don't know that this was the
- 14:31Speaker 1: role for her, because I think maybe she's this was
- 14:35Speaker 1: her trying to break out. Now. She has worked a
- 14:38Speaker 1: lot since she's all that. She's all that is kind
- 14:41Speaker 1: of a blip in the middle of her one hundred
- 14:43Speaker 1: four acting credit. She's done a lot, but I think
- 14:46Speaker 1: she's like, Oh, I'm this silly, goofy high school student
- 14:48Speaker 1: and now she's like, I have to play this serious
- 14:51Speaker 1: role to break out from it. And yeah, I don't
- 14:54Speaker 1: think that.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Had the desired effect. Agree, she has two children. This
- 14:59Speaker 2: whole thing. I was wondering how old she was. Not
- 15:02Speaker 2: that mad She's currently forty three, and this obviously was
- 15:04Speaker 2: a couple of years ago, so she was late thirties.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I just don't like when they make these women of
- 15:11Speaker 1: a certain age, she'd be like spinsters, Like she's just
- 15:14Speaker 1: like this moby bookstore owner who probably has cats and pillows.
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's just do you know what I mean? Yeah, And
- 15:21Speaker 1: she's taking the weight of the world on her own
- 15:23Speaker 1: shoulders when nobody was asking her to do that, because
- 15:26Speaker 1: we learned her parents are perfectly lovely humans. And her
- 15:28Speaker 1: brother is showing up for her even though he has
- 15:32Speaker 1: his other stuff going on. You know, She's like, you've
- 15:34Speaker 1: got your own things going on. He still continues to
- 15:37Speaker 1: show up right for her? And the bookstore right.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Hey, I did not hate the idea of the cute
- 15:43Speaker 2: little coffee van outside me either, real cute mm hmm.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I would love like just in my little neighborhood, like
- 15:50Speaker 2: have a coffee RV.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Outside your local bookstore. Oh, I got a Barnes and
- 15:56Speaker 1: Noble and there's a Starbucks in size I know, you
- 15:59Speaker 1: know I like the cute little van too. What do
- 16:02Speaker 1: you have for dig just see that? Well, let's talk
- 16:04Speaker 1: about this podcast, okay. One, they're so far off from
- 16:07Speaker 1: the microphone. Oh it it's on a table. Oh I
- 16:11Speaker 1: didn't I didn't even notice. Second, this podcast apparently has
- 16:14Speaker 1: two episodes. She's like, we're getting so many downloads, as
- 16:18Speaker 1: if podcasts downloads happen in real time. You need one
- 16:22Speaker 1: of two episodes to be a successful podcast, especially if
- 16:25Speaker 1: you're some random small bookstore. I understand that they had
- 16:28Speaker 1: this like celebrity attached and so that's just again I'm
- 16:32Speaker 1: begging somebody to talk to anybody who knows about these
- 16:36Speaker 1: things when they add them to their movies. There was
- 16:40Speaker 1: also the pr agent kept saying something about like how
- 16:47Speaker 1: this whole big event was going.
- 16:49Speaker 2: To be a paradigm chef for them, right right, And
- 16:53Speaker 2: she's like, you're giving the likes on social media, like
- 16:57Speaker 2: that's still not going to get people into your store, right,
- 17:00Speaker 2: That does not change anything.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Yes, I do think that a book podcast run by
- 17:06Speaker 1: a bookstore is a great idea, like talk about books
- 17:10Speaker 1: and be like here's a link to our website. Come by, right,
- 17:12Speaker 1: we talk about books, and we're gonna have a live
- 17:14Speaker 1: event with this author. That's a great idea to see.
- 17:17Speaker 1: People don't really have any idea how podcasting were. Right.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Also, the pr agent says at the end, you're trending.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I was like on where what on Twitter?
- 17:29Speaker 1: Like locally She's like it's a good thing. Oh god.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I just hate that they feel like they have to
- 17:35Speaker 2: dumb down all this stuff for the people who like
- 17:38Speaker 2: don't understand how social media.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Works or whatever.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I just can't stand it, and I hate when it's inaccurate, Like,
- 17:46Speaker 2: can you please just somebody get somebody in there who
- 17:49Speaker 2: knows what they're talking about?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Like you said, mm hmmm, did this bookstore look more
- 17:53Speaker 1: like a library than a bookstore for you? It's just
- 17:56Speaker 1: so dark. It was so drab.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I'm like, please, Like if they would have done like
- 18:01Speaker 2: a makeover instead, I would have been far more interested.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Put some skylights in that bad something.
- 18:08Speaker 2: It was so outdated and there was nothing that looked
- 18:12Speaker 2: like a bookstore.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It was just shelves of books. Nothing was on display,
- 18:18Speaker 1: nothing was excited. Yeah, merchandise it. Hey, if you are
- 18:24Speaker 1: a suspended professional athlete, do you not still have to
- 18:28Speaker 1: like sit in on practice and attend the games or
- 18:31Speaker 1: are you just like doing your own thing. That's a
- 18:33Speaker 1: good question. I don't know, I am.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I was recently at a soccer game and one of
- 18:41Speaker 2: the soccer players on that team has been injured for months.
- 18:45Speaker 2: She had surgery. She wasn't at the game. She wasn't
- 18:48Speaker 2: like on the bench like sitting there. I thought she
- 18:50Speaker 2: would be. But yeah, that's a good question, Like, I don't.
- 18:53Speaker 1: You just get paid vacation. I don't know. I don't
- 18:56Speaker 1: know how it works either. Also, their little league hockey team,
- 19:00Speaker 1: the coaches, apparently gets front page press like, yeah, little
- 19:03Speaker 1: Cocky's getting front page. I guess, so, I guess. So.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Okay, I have a did you see that that I
- 19:09Speaker 2: read off of IMDb? Okay, according to the fun facts
- 19:13Speaker 2: section in IMDb, do you ever scroll down? I don't
- 19:16Speaker 2: know who writes those anyway, it says, although this movie
- 19:19Speaker 2: is supposed to take place in the USA, when Adam
- 19:22Speaker 2: is giving his apology at the end of the movie
- 19:25Speaker 2: in the arena to the owner and the VIP section
- 19:27Speaker 2: ticket holders, you can see a maple leaf flag of
- 19:30Speaker 2: Canada behind him.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Well, I would push back on that. I would too.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Have you ever been to a hockey game? Yeah, they
- 19:37Speaker 1: show both flags, right, there's Canadian teams. Yeah, so that
- 19:42Speaker 1: could that could be not actually mistake? Yeah? Okay? Would
- 19:46Speaker 1: you rate this two stars?
- 19:47Speaker 2: For the number of times I fell asleep watching Guys?
- 19:49Speaker 2: I had to watch this movie over a course of
- 19:51Speaker 2: like four or five days, and we even pushed back
- 19:54Speaker 2: the recording of this episode because I had not finished it.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I kept falling asleep. I gave it to and a half stars,
- 20:00Speaker 1: but I wanted to go back because I think I
- 20:02Speaker 1: left us hanging. I said, is this movie a collection
- 20:05Speaker 1: of short films? And what I meant by that is
- 20:08Speaker 1: this feels like a bunch of scenes loosely connected but
- 20:14Speaker 1: without full cohesion. It's like, let's do a podcast, let's
- 20:19Speaker 1: learn how to skate, let's coach a hockey team. There
- 20:23Speaker 1: just felt like all of these individual scenes in this
- 20:26Speaker 1: bookshop owner meets a hockey player world that don't form
- 20:30Speaker 1: a full movie.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Do you think that's because it comes from an inexperienced writer,
- 20:36Speaker 2: or do you think that somehow in the editing or
- 20:41Speaker 2: post production or whatever, it got like chopped up?
- 20:44Speaker 1: Well, to be clear, Rachel Lee Cook has a writing credit,
- 20:48Speaker 1: but Rick Jerman also wrote this, so perhaps it was
- 20:52Speaker 1: her story idea and he wrote the script and I
- 20:54Speaker 1: don't necessarily want to put all of that on him. Okay,
- 20:57Speaker 1: I don't know where it falls apart. Yeah, I don't
- 21:00Speaker 1: know where it falls apart. Perhaps it's on the actors
- 21:04Speaker 1: for not making me believe in their story more. Perhaps
- 21:08Speaker 1: it is a story problem, Perhaps it is an editing problem.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Perhaps it's a directing problem. I don't know. But I'm
- 21:14Speaker 1: just telling you it didn't feel like parts of a whole.
- 21:17Speaker 1: To me, I felt like parts of parts. I agree with.
- 21:21Speaker 2: You, and I'm sorry because there are so many like
- 21:25Speaker 2: Nile Meter fans out there, and maybe.
- 21:27Speaker 1: That's because of this movie, which is interesting. They're like, oh,
- 21:30Speaker 1: you need to watch Frozen in Love because that's why
- 21:32Speaker 1: we love him. They also like Rip in Time too,
- 21:34Speaker 1: which we haven't seen. I know, so, I mean, I
- 21:37Speaker 1: would give his If.
- 21:38Speaker 2: If you're a Nile Meter fan in there, you think
- 21:41Speaker 2: there's a better movie for us to watch from him,
- 21:44Speaker 2: please email us, because I don't want to watch good movies.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I did not think this movie was good. I agree
- 21:50Speaker 1: with you, Okay, June real strong, August struggling a little bit.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We have two more movies in our summer Sea Furies.
- 22:00Speaker 1: You can catch up with all the movies that we've
- 22:03Speaker 1: been reviewing this summer. Check out the full list on
- 22:05Speaker 1: our website. Megan and Wendy dot com slash podcast come

- 22:13Speaker 1: Oh I hope it's better. Have a great week, everybody,
