- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:15Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett. On this Thursday, June eighteenth. I
- 0:19Speaker 2: hope everybody survived last night then this morning with horrible storms.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I didn't get to experience, but Matthew Childress is here
- 0:29Speaker 2: with me. Matthew, did you get to good night's sleep
- 0:32Speaker 2: last night?
- 0:34Speaker 3: I actually did. I'm glad, barring the waking up at
- 0:39Speaker 3: four o'clock in the morning to my Amber alert going off,
- 0:41Speaker 3: the weather alert going off. I live right next to
- 0:44Speaker 3: the tornado sirens, so those woke me up, and I
- 0:47Speaker 3: was just like, well, whatever happens, happens.
- 0:50Speaker 4: It laid my head back down to sleep, so I
- 0:51Speaker 4: just went back.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, well we're on live today. Somebody should get a
- 0:58Speaker 2: little thrashing. But I I won't give you a hard
- 1:01Speaker 2: time at all. Yeah, only time i'd give you a
- 1:05Speaker 2: hard time as if I'm really mad at you, And
- 1:07Speaker 2: I've never been mad at you.
- 1:10Speaker 1: You're You're too good of a guy.
- 1:12Speaker 2: But you know you yesterday morning and then that's okay.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yesterday was on me. I actually have I don't
- 1:19Speaker 3: even have an excuse. I was just in bed, just
- 1:24Speaker 3: in bed, a good night's sleep, and then like aggressively
- 1:28Speaker 3: shakes me and wakes me up and goes, hey, it's
- 1:31Speaker 3: eight o'clock. Don't you need to leave? I was like, yes,
- 1:34Speaker 3: I do need to leave, and I immediately called you.
- 1:37Speaker 3: I was only in my underwear, like try.
- 1:42Speaker 1: You were in your tidy whities.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I just slept.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I guess maybe I turn it off in the middle
- 1:49Speaker 3: of my sleep or something like none of my arms
- 1:51Speaker 3: were on and just I just won't didn't slept right,
- 1:53Speaker 3: that's on me.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I just made an audible and said, Okay, it's no
- 1:57Speaker 2: big deal, just let national take it today. But anyway,
- 2:00Speaker 2: because I'm in Oa, calif Florida, this is my last
- 2:04Speaker 2: day to day and next week I head back up
- 2:08Speaker 2: to Louisville later on this afternoon, this evening.
- 2:11Speaker 1: But yesterday was a big day.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I was able to get two horses down here, uh
- 2:18Speaker 2: one And for those of you that don't know horses,
- 2:21Speaker 2: it's okay. But I bought an essential quality a beautiful
- 2:25Speaker 2: gray Colt and also a dark gray Philly out of
- 2:30Speaker 2: care Carro And so thanks to David and Gordo for
- 2:36Speaker 2: picking both of those out for me if you don't
- 2:38Speaker 2: know who David and Gordo is.
- 2:40Speaker 1: He's one of the premiere.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Bloodstock agents and he is also the husband of one
- 2:49Speaker 2: Cherie da Vo. So one of them is gonna be
- 2:52Speaker 2: trained by Cheri Devo and the Carra Carro and the
- 2:56Speaker 2: other one I haven't decided yet. It's either going to
- 2:58Speaker 2: go to Riley Mott or to John Sadler out in California.
- 3:02Speaker 1: So we'll have to see.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But if you want to go check them out, I'll
- 3:05Speaker 2: put some post uff a little later on. You can
- 3:07Speaker 2: look at a Scenic Killstable dot com or Scenic kill
- 3:10Speaker 2: Stable on all the social media stuff. But you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: since I'm down here in Nokala, I'm staying, let me
- 3:16Speaker 2: tell you where I'm staying, Matthew. I'm staying at a
- 3:20Speaker 2: resort or a hotel called WECK. It's the it's called
- 3:25Speaker 2: the Equestrian Okay, Uh yeah. WECK stands for a World
- 3:32Speaker 2: Equestrian uh Center. And I'm sitting in my hotel room
- 3:38Speaker 2: and there's a an actual ring where they're riding horses
- 3:41Speaker 2: and jumping these unbelievable jumps on you know, people on horseback.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I've been mesberized just staring out the window watching these people,
- 3:53Speaker 2: and it's it's just not just little kids.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I mean, it's grown people.
- 3:57Speaker 2: There's a couple of grown men out there jumping these
- 4:00Speaker 2: probably five to six foot jumps. It's just unbelievably amazing.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But anyway, it's a great complex down here, and I
- 4:09Speaker 2: tell you, I wish I could stay here for a
- 4:12Speaker 2: long time because it's just amazing. And I'm, uh, I
- 4:17Speaker 2: don't know. I like horses. I mean, I'm into horses.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Anything they do, I'm into it. But anyway, I turned
- 4:23Speaker 2: on the TV. I'm watching Orlando News and they have
- 4:28Speaker 2: talked all morning about Louisville, Kentucky.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Really.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yes, I was even impressed by the weather guy pronouncing
- 4:38Speaker 2: Louisville the correct way, not saying Louisville. He was saying
- 4:43Speaker 2: Louisville almost to the point it's like, is this dude
- 4:46Speaker 2: from Louisville. I mean, I I was thoroughly impressed by that.
- 4:49Speaker 2: But the showing all the rain, tornadoes, showing the radars,
- 4:52Speaker 2: showing the air video of the airport, it was amazing.
- 4:56Speaker 2: So evidently the storms were really bad last night.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Yeah, they were really bad.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Even getting into here, I had to like take a
- 5:04Speaker 3: detour the road that I usually take was entirely blocked off.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It was an.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Ambulance and fired up really right there. I had to
- 5:10Speaker 3: go like another way. Basically, it's not like that long.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It's take a little detour and go around. And then
- 5:16Speaker 3: when I went around, there was a full tree down
- 5:18Speaker 3: on the road going the other direction. Somebody just hadn't
- 5:21Speaker 3: picked it up yet, so all of traffic was only
- 5:23Speaker 3: able to use the wrong side of the road. We
- 5:25Speaker 3: were driving European for a little bit, but we got
- 5:27Speaker 3: to figure it out and we're here.
- 5:28Speaker 4: But yeah, it was really really bad last night.
- 5:31Speaker 2: It was okay, so you heard the storms, but would
- 5:35Speaker 2: probably woke you up. The most was that you said
- 5:37Speaker 2: the tornado siren and your phone going off. There was
- 5:40Speaker 2: an amber alert last night in the midst of all this.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I mean it was some type of alert I had, honestly, Like,
- 5:46Speaker 3: I never heard the my phone make that noise before.
- 5:49Speaker 3: It was very it was a weather alert or something,
- 5:51Speaker 3: but it was terrifying. I thought it was a bomb
- 5:53Speaker 3: in my house, Like I thought I was gonna have
- 5:54Speaker 3: to evacuate. I never heard my phone make that noise before.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It is awful.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Well, I've never had well I've dropped a bomb in
- 6:01Speaker 2: my house, but I've never had a bomb in my house.
- 6:03Speaker 1: But uh, anyway, I do. I'm not going to get
- 6:06Speaker 1: into that.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I do love that old home depot story where they
- 6:09Speaker 2: called the police, called the police on a guy that
- 6:12Speaker 2: said he was gonna blow up this room. That story
- 6:19Speaker 2: still makes me laugh without a doubt. But anyway, uh so,
- 6:25Speaker 2: uh uh, but but everything's okay there there there were
- 6:28Speaker 2: no tornadoes even though there were warnings.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 6:31Speaker 4: I mean I never stepped outside to see, but.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I don't want you to go step outside and see.
- 6:36Speaker 2: But I thought you might have turned on the TV
- 6:38Speaker 2: or the radio and heard that there was a confirmed
- 6:40Speaker 2: tornado in Louisville.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Oh no, I literally turned the alert off of back
- 6:44Speaker 4: to sleep.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Oh you did. Oh that's awesome.
- 6:47Speaker 2: So a a weather warning comes up on your phone,
- 6:51Speaker 2: you turn it off and just go back to sleep,
- 6:53Speaker 2: and don't don't take heed to the warning.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Look.
- 6:56Speaker 3: I live a life of solidarity and calm. I constantly
- 7:02Speaker 3: walk around my life thinking, you know, this could be
- 7:04Speaker 3: my moment, and if it is, I'm ready.
- 7:06Speaker 4: You know, I'm not gonna be afraid. So you know, yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 4: I went back to sleep.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Okay, good for you. I'm glad you're not hurt in
- 7:15Speaker 2: any shape or form.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Imagine if I okay, imagine if I didn't and then
- 7:19Speaker 3: it was late again today and I was like Michael,
- 7:21Speaker 3: I swear it wasn't my fault. I had to stay
- 7:24Speaker 3: up till eight a m. Because there's a fricking tornado outside.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Do you really think that would have upset me? Do
- 7:29Speaker 3: you really think, all right, yesterday, do you think I
- 7:32Speaker 3: was upset with you?
- 7:34Speaker 4: No?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Do you think if you'd gotten late today and forgotten
- 7:38Speaker 2: or slept in do you think I would be upset
- 7:40Speaker 2: with you today? Two days in a row, I'd say, yes, oh,
- 7:42Speaker 2: you would be okay. I might be a little irritated,
- 7:45Speaker 2: even I don't think that'd be work. I would be
- 7:48Speaker 2: upset with myself. I would feel that, yeah, yeah, and
- 7:50Speaker 2: see that to me is far worse. Anytime I make
- 7:54Speaker 2: a mistake and I apologize to the person immediately, they
- 7:57Speaker 2: immediately forgive me for the most part. But I think
- 8:01Speaker 2: I'm harder on me, and you're probably the same way.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'm harder on me that it's like, you, idiot, you
- 8:07Speaker 2: just screwed up.
- 8:09Speaker 4: It doesn't make it any easier.
- 8:11Speaker 3: The fact that what you text like a girlfriend that's
- 8:14Speaker 3: mad at their at their boyfriend. So yeah, if I
- 8:17Speaker 3: ever text Michael anything, I'm like, hey Michael, even like whenever,
- 8:21Speaker 3: like Justin was producing and I'd just come in, I'm like, hey, Michael,
- 8:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna be like two minutes behind as a bunch
- 8:25Speaker 3: of traffic.
- 8:26Speaker 4: He just says okay, period, and then he'll just say.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Or he'll I'll be like, hey, really sorry man, I'm
- 8:32Speaker 3: not going to able to make it today. I'm super sick.
- 8:33Speaker 3: He's like, all right, that's it, like that, no other words,
- 8:36Speaker 3: that's it. I'm like, oh my gosh, what do you
- 8:38Speaker 3: want me to Gosh? He's upset, he's angry, he's doing, he's,
- 8:41Speaker 3: he's he's he's just flying with only one word every
- 8:44Speaker 3: single time I saw something.
- 8:46Speaker 2: So I'm supposed to write a long paragraph saying, Matthew,
- 8:51Speaker 2: don't worry, feel better?
- 8:53Speaker 1: Would you like me to bring you some soup? What
- 8:55Speaker 1: do you want to know this?
- 8:56Speaker 3: You just you just text with some underlying tude in there,
- 9:00Speaker 3: just texting you know this.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I don't like texting, and so therefore everybody's probably gonna
- 9:09Speaker 2: start texting me today it drives me nuts. I just like,
- 9:12Speaker 2: you know, okay, what do you want me to say?
- 9:14Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, Matthew, please please No, I'll put prayers
- 9:20Speaker 2: in there for you. I just what do you want
- 9:22Speaker 2: me to say?
- 9:22Speaker 4: No?
- 9:24Speaker 3: You just put both the text there and be like,
- 9:25Speaker 3: all right, no problem. Then I'm like, oh, okay, it's
- 9:28Speaker 3: an average right, well.
- 9:30Speaker 2: All right, right now you got me irritated. Now now
- 9:33Speaker 2: I'm frustrated.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Uh, I said, so you said, okay, I'm so sorry Michael.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Uh No, no, no, And uh, I said, are you
- 9:46Speaker 2: sure I'll be here in five minutes. I'm pulling in.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I said, all good, let's do tomorrow. And then the end, I, oh,
- 9:53Speaker 2: it's at the very end. Okay, all right? Then well no,
- 9:58Speaker 2: that's that. That's at the beginn you go back and
- 10:02Speaker 2: look at your texts and I I said, all good,
- 10:07Speaker 2: let's do tomorrow, and then you say, okay, I'm sorry, Michael.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I don't have an excuse. I really don't have know
- 10:13Speaker 2: how I slept through. I feel terrible. I said, no worries.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I feel like that's a nice thing to say back
- 10:19Speaker 2: to you.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yes, for anybody that's ever texted their significant other when
- 10:26Speaker 3: they're not when they're in a bad mood. That's what
- 10:28Speaker 3: Michael says. That's what it's what he sounds like over text.
- 10:31Speaker 3: It's it's a it's a. It's the words you say
- 10:34Speaker 3: and the royse you say that. It's almost like it's
- 10:35Speaker 3: not what you say, it's how you said it. And
- 10:38Speaker 3: I know you're not mad because I know you, Michael.
- 10:40Speaker 3: It's just it's this way. So like I said, Okay,
- 10:43Speaker 3: I'm so sorry, Michael. I don't have an excuse for
- 10:44Speaker 3: you right now. I don't know how. So he just says,
- 10:47Speaker 3: no worries.
- 10:48Speaker 4: That's it. That's all he says. And then and then
- 10:51Speaker 4: that's nice.
- 10:52Speaker 1: It just don't worry about it.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I know, but there is.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's just there's it's really just like no worries, like
- 10:58Speaker 3: the way I read it as if you just looked
- 10:59Speaker 3: at me with these like really, I.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Am going to start calling you Patricia every now and
- 11:06Speaker 2: then because you're you're sounding exactly like her. I can't
- 11:10Speaker 2: satisfy you. Okay, If that's the case, then what you
- 11:13Speaker 2: need to do instead of freaking texting me because you
- 11:17Speaker 2: know how much I hate it, just call me up
- 11:20Speaker 2: and say, are you sure you okay, and I can
- 11:21Speaker 2: say you'll hear it in my tone because you can
- 11:25Speaker 2: tell in my tone if I'm upset or not. Because
- 11:27Speaker 2: now I'm getting upset, I would just say, Matthew, it's
- 11:31Speaker 2: no big deal. Move on, let's let's have a nice deal.
- 11:35Speaker 4: I already did call.
- 11:36Speaker 2: You okay, all right? Then whatever I mean. Now I'm
- 11:43Speaker 2: getting pissed off at you. So anyway, Uh, we do
- 11:47Speaker 2: have a lot to talk about today since we missed
- 11:49Speaker 2: plus today's Thursday.
- 11:51Speaker 1: You did not forget this, did you? Okay? Good?
- 11:55Speaker 2: Second hour we're going to talk about Team USA because
- 11:59Speaker 2: I look forward to listen. You've done it twice now
- 12:02Speaker 2: you've killed it both times as far as talking World
- 12:07Speaker 2: Cup soccer and Team USA. I start the first segment
- 12:12Speaker 2: second hour, we're talking Team USA and I can't wait.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I listen. All right, are you ready for this?
- 12:19Speaker 2: You, Matthew Childress, have gotten me so excited about your
- 12:23Speaker 2: segment on World Cup that I sat down last night
- 12:30Speaker 2: and I watched England and who did they play?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Like Croatia?
- 12:37Speaker 1: Croatia. That's it.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I was rooting for Croatia and I watched that game
- 12:42Speaker 2: for a better part of an hour, hour and a half.
- 12:46Speaker 1: How do you like that. I don't know if it
- 12:50Speaker 1: was a good game or not.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I just I have no idea other than England's scored
- 12:55Speaker 2: more goals, wasn't it four to one?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Was the final?
- 12:59Speaker 4: Four to two?
- 13:00Speaker 1: Four to two?
- 13:00Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know why it was a good game.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I mean, to me, that's a blowout, but uh, there's
- 13:05Speaker 2: a lot of goals scored, so it's a little more
- 13:07Speaker 2: exciting it is. It was exciting, and I enjoyed it.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I'll have to say I did enjoy that. What helped
- 13:14Speaker 2: it the most probably is the fact that there were
- 13:18Speaker 2: a lot of goals number one, number two. There's a
- 13:20Speaker 2: lot of people in the stadium. I mean, it's exciting
- 13:23Speaker 2: to watch something when the crowd is really into it,
- 13:27Speaker 2: and they were into that game last night.
- 13:29Speaker 3: That's been a big note of like a lot of
- 13:32Speaker 3: people who are coming to the United States to watch
- 13:34Speaker 3: these games is that they're just very surprised that even
- 13:37Speaker 3: the lower echelon games of this past week are the
- 13:41Speaker 3: stadiums are like ninety percent capacity like that, They're like,
- 13:44Speaker 3: there's are they really You're extremely surprised that this many
- 13:47Speaker 3: people are tuning it, turning in for these games. And
- 13:49Speaker 3: a lot of them are because people are just enamored
- 13:51Speaker 3: with how massive American you know, stadiums are, Like they
- 13:56Speaker 3: they've never seen anything like it. They people are finally
- 13:58Speaker 3: are like understanding the infrastructure of the United States has
- 14:01Speaker 3: and they're they're like, oh my gosh, this is on
- 14:03Speaker 3: a different level compared to others, like because they're used
- 14:06Speaker 3: to go into these, you know, like popular nations with
- 14:09Speaker 3: smaller countries. And one big joke that's come around is
- 14:12Speaker 3: like they haven't even used the top ten largest stadiums
- 14:18Speaker 3: in America yet. They they've been using like the most
- 14:21Speaker 3: popular ones, the newer ones, the ones everybody thinks they're
- 14:23Speaker 3: gonna love. So all these people coming over are like,
- 14:25Speaker 3: these aren't even your biggest stadiums, Like they're sitting in
- 14:29Speaker 3: ones and only hold like sixty some thousand, where we
- 14:31Speaker 3: got something that hold one hundred and ten thousand we're
- 14:33Speaker 3: not even using. So they're just blown away the fact
- 14:36Speaker 3: that they're wondering what we even use these for while
- 14:39Speaker 3: we have so many of these the real football That's
- 14:42Speaker 3: what people have been like replying to them with is
- 14:44Speaker 3: like clip like highlight clips of like somebody like somebody
- 14:47Speaker 3: posted that tweet and they're applied with uh, the kick
- 14:50Speaker 3: return and the iron bowl, like they're like, this is
- 14:52Speaker 3: what we use them for. So like it's been a
- 14:54Speaker 3: really big joke, but we have people are really surprised
- 14:56Speaker 3: that every single game is sold out to the max.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Well, what is the biggest stadium in Europe? Is it
- 15:02Speaker 2: Wimbley Stadium?
- 15:05Speaker 3: It's got it's either Wimbley or probably the newest Tottenham
- 15:09Speaker 3: Hotspur Stadium.
- 15:09Speaker 4: I look that up really quick. I think it's probably
- 15:11Speaker 4: I don't know who that is.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Who is that.
- 15:13Speaker 3: It's a Premier League team, but they have they have
- 15:16Speaker 3: one of the newest stadiums in the world, and it's
- 15:19Speaker 3: like super fancy.
- 15:20Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Where is it.
- 15:21Speaker 4: It's in London.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Oh, it's in Oh so Wimbley is not the big
- 15:26Speaker 2: one anymore. You're telling me London has two gigantic stadiums
- 15:31Speaker 2: in it.
- 15:31Speaker 1: They have multiple They're like four, Do they really? I
- 15:34Speaker 1: had no idea. Okay, all right, then.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Weley Stadium holds is the oldest, that holds ninety thousand.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Okay, that's interesting because that's not the even the original Wimbley.
- 15:46Speaker 4: No, or not the oldest, the largest on it not
- 15:48Speaker 4: the oldest.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I got you all right.
- 15:52Speaker 2: Then, well, this is something I've been wanting to Well,
- 15:54Speaker 2: we'll talk more about that a little later on, which
- 15:56Speaker 2: I definitely look forward to. But one thing that happened
- 16:02Speaker 2: a couple of days ago. If you didn't see it,
- 16:06Speaker 2: will Stein was doing a really nice video welcoming the
- 16:10Speaker 2: Of course, the new athletic director, Jay Blatt will talk
- 16:14Speaker 2: about him quite a bit today, But in that video,
- 16:19Speaker 2: will Stein had a shirt on a UK shirt that
- 16:24Speaker 2: only had the power K on it. I'm big on tradition,
- 16:30Speaker 2: I'm big on not changing things, and my all time
- 16:35Speaker 2: favorite UK look has always been the Power K. I mean,
- 16:40Speaker 2: I guess it's because it's one of the first ones
- 16:43Speaker 2: I ever had. It goes back to the seventies. I
- 16:45Speaker 2: don't know how old that one goes. But are you,
- 16:48Speaker 2: Matthew big on certain logos of certain teams to where
- 16:53Speaker 2: you wish they wouldn't change because I know why they
- 16:55Speaker 2: change him.
- 16:56Speaker 1: They change him because it needs more money.
- 16:59Speaker 2: They change him because you know, the Nike's gonna sell
- 17:01Speaker 2: a lot more stuff because everybody's got to keep up
- 17:04Speaker 2: with the trend of what the new logo is. Do
- 17:07Speaker 2: you like certain logos out there that you wish they'd
- 17:12Speaker 2: never change.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Yes, I mean, I feel like almost every single sports team,
- 17:17Speaker 3: whether it's college a professional, has a logo that was
- 17:21Speaker 3: has already been used like earlier on in their lifespan
- 17:24Speaker 3: that is just incredibly unique. It's vibrant and like it
- 17:28Speaker 3: kind of gives the feel of what that like that
- 17:30Speaker 3: team is. And I feel like the whole like minimalism
- 17:34Speaker 3: push that we had in the like twenty tens kind
- 17:36Speaker 3: of ruined sports branding for me.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Everything came like black and white. Everything became very boring
- 17:42Speaker 4: and flat.
- 17:43Speaker 3: So if Kentucky, if that's kind of flirting it, maybe
- 17:46Speaker 3: Kentucky going back to something that was a little more
- 17:48Speaker 3: creative back in the day or a little more unique
- 17:50Speaker 3: that stands out. I'm fine with that. I love all
- 17:53Speaker 3: those old looks. I think they're a lot more fun.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Like I was really happy when they brought like, you know,
- 17:57Speaker 3: the dunking and the Heisman cardinal back for u of
- 17:59Speaker 3: L and that became their main, their their major brand.
- 18:02Speaker 4: Like, I love that stuff.
- 18:03Speaker 3: So I'm perfectly fine with schools capitalizing on that kind
- 18:08Speaker 3: of trend and moving backwards.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I guess, yeah, Well, the power k is not even
- 18:14Speaker 2: that difficult of a design. It's very simple. It's very simplistic,
- 18:18Speaker 2: and I just always loved it. So so when I
- 18:21Speaker 2: saw will Stein in this video wearing a Power K shirt,
- 18:24Speaker 2: and I'm like, Okay, now I'm excited. It seems like
- 18:27Speaker 2: he's making a consorted effort to go back in time
- 18:30Speaker 2: just a little bit. Number one the Power K And
- 18:33Speaker 2: then a couple of days ago, he mentioned in an
- 18:35Speaker 2: interview on another show, uh that he is working with
- 18:39Speaker 2: the marketing team uh for fan experience at Commonwealth Stadium.
- 18:46Speaker 2: So I'm like, okay, that's interesting. Uh. He doesn't Uh.
- 18:52Speaker 2: He's talked about the how Mommy air raid siren, which
- 18:56Speaker 2: was or as my dad always said, syreen, which always
- 18:59Speaker 2: made me I, of course, this is before your time, Matthew,
- 19:03Speaker 2: But there was nothing like how Mummy's offense along with
- 19:10Speaker 2: Mike Leach, and they're throwing the ball and just doing
- 19:14Speaker 2: all kinds of fun offensive schemes and succeeding at it,
- 19:19Speaker 2: even though they still lost. But those are fun days,
- 19:22Speaker 2: and to hear that that siren going off was a
- 19:26Speaker 2: lot of fun. So I kind of feel like they're
- 19:28Speaker 2: stepping away from the mark Pope Cole siren or Cole
- 19:32Speaker 2: whistle to going back to some sort of siren. I
- 19:36Speaker 2: like that they're also talking about, you know, all the
- 19:41Speaker 2: fans love the Waka Flaka song, which is what's the
- 19:47Speaker 2: name of that?
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, grow Street.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Party, which I'm kind of okay if they do away
- 19:52Speaker 2: with it, that to me has.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Mark Stoops all over it. And since we've moved for Mark.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Stoops, don't you kind of feel like it's time to
- 20:05Speaker 2: come out with maybe another song that the UK fan
- 20:09Speaker 2: base embraces.
- 20:10Speaker 3: The way I see it is like, do you think that, Yeah,
- 20:13Speaker 3: that's definitely a possibility. It gives something fresh and new.
- 20:16Speaker 3: But do you think that maybe all this stuff happening
- 20:18Speaker 3: at one time is kind of gimmicky too much? Yeah,
- 20:21Speaker 3: like a little bit like, yeah, I'm part oftly like
- 20:22Speaker 3: every single era should like there should be something's different,
- 20:25Speaker 3: But like, if you're just gonna change everything, it kind
- 20:28Speaker 3: of gives me the feeling of like you broke up
- 20:33Speaker 3: with your girlfriend and now you have to delete all
- 20:34Speaker 3: your pictures, You're gonna block our phone number, you got it.
- 20:36Speaker 3: You can't take the same route to work because everything
- 20:39Speaker 3: reminds you of them, you know what I mean? So
- 20:40Speaker 3: you're changing too much of your own life to get
- 20:43Speaker 3: over something, and I feel like it just feels a
- 20:45Speaker 3: little gimmicky if you do too much. I'm not saying
- 20:47Speaker 3: they're doing it now, but maybe if they keep changing
- 20:49Speaker 3: stuff then they could get like that.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Well, that's just that's two big things. I don't think
- 20:54Speaker 2: that talking about changing those two things would be too
- 20:57Speaker 2: gimmicky or too.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Much and that I don't know.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I Uh, I feel like it's it's needed. I feel
- 21:05Speaker 2: like we have to do something to get the fan
- 21:09Speaker 2: base back into the football program and the fan experience
- 21:13Speaker 2: at ball games. That's the one thing has always been
- 21:16Speaker 2: my criticism at UK. There's never been something that really
- 21:22Speaker 2: sticks uh and is identifiable with the UK other than
- 21:26Speaker 2: I guess the Grove Styt party.
- 21:29Speaker 1: It does need to say.
- 21:30Speaker 4: I think that's untouchable.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I feel like every you know, if you want to
- 21:34Speaker 3: be a major college ball program, and we've seen it
- 21:36Speaker 3: all across the country, they all have something significant, something
- 21:39Speaker 3: that's signature to them, like Virgini and Tech in our
- 21:42Speaker 3: you know, Inner Sandman, Michigan has the bright Side, and
- 21:45Speaker 3: then you know, and then Kentucky has Grocery Party, Louisville
- 21:48Speaker 3: has Joker in the Thief in the third in the
- 21:50Speaker 3: fourth quarter. You know, they have all these things, like
- 21:52Speaker 3: everybody needs an identity. I feel like if you go
- 21:55Speaker 3: around and you start changing some of those identities, then
- 21:57Speaker 3: you'll never have something that's like to like, everything needs
- 22:00Speaker 3: something type of tradition. And I feel like if can
- 22:03Speaker 3: tell he's gonna have anything, grocery party needs.
- 22:04Speaker 2: To say, Okay, all right, then grocery that party needs
- 22:07Speaker 2: to say. Because I look back at some of the
- 22:10Speaker 2: schools there that have tradition as far as music, and.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Of course the one one.
- 22:17Speaker 2: There's a couple of places I think they're that are
- 22:20Speaker 2: just like iconic, probably three. Uh, you got you Got Georgia,
- 22:25Speaker 2: which I think plays one of the coolest songs out there,
- 22:29Speaker 2: and that's Baba O'Reilly.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Do you know what song I'm talking about?
- 22:32Speaker 4: By the who If I heard it, then probably you.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Would know it. You would know it, And I think
- 22:37Speaker 1: that's unbelievable. Uh.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Of course you got Virginia Tech with inter Sandman. Really
- 22:45Speaker 2: cool to experience.
- 22:45Speaker 3: By the way, the first time I'd ever gone to
- 22:47Speaker 3: Virginia Tech was last year. That was a really cool
- 22:50Speaker 3: thing to experience.
- 22:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I bet it was.
- 22:53Speaker 2: And then of course, you got uh Florida that plays
- 22:56Speaker 2: the Tom Petty song between the third and fourth quarter.
- 23:01Speaker 2: And then the one I can't stand is uh South
- 23:04Speaker 2: Carolina Sandstorm. Even though it's become popular with them, I'm
- 23:09Speaker 2: not big on that one.
- 23:10Speaker 1: You know which song I'm talking about.
- 23:11Speaker 4: Though, Sandstorm? Yeah, yeah, Tennessee.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I'll I can't stand Rocky Top. I've never liked that song.
- 23:23Speaker 3: But it's it's exactly for them though, Like it's one
- 23:26Speaker 3: that like, it's it fits for them, like it's in
- 23:30Speaker 3: a yeah, like I don't like the song in general,
- 23:32Speaker 3: but it's you know, that's one that's even if you're
- 23:35Speaker 3: not a fan, if you're not a fan of the song,
- 23:37Speaker 3: if you're a Tennessee fan, you are excited to hear
- 23:39Speaker 3: that after before a football game, Like it's just something
- 23:41Speaker 3: that kind of gets you in the mood for it's audition.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Well, and then of course I'm so sick of the
- 23:47Speaker 2: stinking West Virginia Country Road song. Thank goodness they got
- 23:51Speaker 2: eliminated from the College Baseball World Series.
- 23:54Speaker 1: But haven't you gotten sick of that song?
- 23:57Speaker 4: Song?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Oh you do? Oh my god?
- 24:00Speaker 4: The one that I can't stand? I like that song.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I can't. I'm tired of Sweet Caroline. I'm tired of
- 24:06Speaker 3: hearing Sweet Carolina sporting events. I hear it because it's
- 24:09Speaker 3: not one like that you hear it's like, oh, you
- 24:12Speaker 3: go to this stadium, you hear it.
- 24:13Speaker 4: It's all the time.
- 24:14Speaker 3: I feel like every sporting event Sweet Carolina is played
- 24:17Speaker 3: at least one time.
- 24:18Speaker 2: I don't, well, don't go to a Boston Red Sox
- 24:20Speaker 2: game because that's what they traditionally play there. That's their
- 24:23Speaker 2: that's their main song is a Sweet Caroline. Can you
- 24:27Speaker 2: name the original singer of Sweet Caroline? No, Neil Diamond
- 24:32Speaker 2: not a fan. Yeah, I just I guess. The other
- 24:35Speaker 2: one is probably the Leonard Skinnered song that Alabama plays.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I forget what it's called, but sweet Home Alabama.
- 24:43Speaker 1: There you go.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yes, And Leonard Skinner's not even from Alabama. That's the crazy.
- 24:49Speaker 2: They're from Florida. Do what you gotta do? I guess exactly,
- 24:53Speaker 2: But I can't think of other ones that are out
- 24:55Speaker 2: there iconic. But anyway, we gotta take a break. Five
- 24:59Speaker 2: O two three eight four fourteen fifty. If you want
- 25:02Speaker 2: to call in five O two four one four fourteen fifty,
- 25:04Speaker 2: you want text in on the Whiskey th text line,
- 25:06Speaker 2: or you can tweet me at Just the Cat ray.
- 25:08Speaker 2: You tell me what song UK should adapt or should
- 25:11Speaker 2: they keep the one that Matthew said? Should it be
- 25:15Speaker 2: Waka Flakka and grow Street Party? I just I don't know.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I just kind of go back and forth. So anyway,
- 25:21Speaker 2: well we got that and a lot more of Just
- 25:23Speaker 2: the Cat. Stay right there, Mordeca five O two three
- 25:52Speaker 2: eight four fourteen fifty. If you want to call in
- 25:54Speaker 2: five oh two four one four fourteen fifty, you want
- 25:56Speaker 2: to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line, or
- 25:58Speaker 2: you can tweet me at Just the Cat radio.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Excuse me.
- 26:02Speaker 2: So we found out yesterday what actually j Blad is
- 26:10Speaker 2: going to be getting paid at the University Kentucky. Of course,
- 26:15Speaker 2: UK had another buy out on top of it all,
- 26:18Speaker 2: but thank goodness, it wasn't I guess.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Not that much.
- 26:22Speaker 2: But they had to pay Michigan State two and a
- 26:25Speaker 2: half million dollars in addition to you know, Mark Soup's
- 26:28Speaker 2: thirty five million dollars in addition to It's like, good
- 26:31Speaker 2: lord man, the money this university is spending just on buyouts.
- 26:36Speaker 2: But listen, if it pays off, it pays off, But Matthew,
- 26:40Speaker 2: I do want to talk about this. For twenty twenty seven,
- 26:49Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, he's going to get two point six
- 26:53Speaker 2: million as athletic director. For twenty twenty seven two point
- 26:59Speaker 2: seven million, twenty twenty eight two point nine, twenty twenty
- 27:03Speaker 2: nine three point five million, and thirty he'll get paid
- 27:10Speaker 2: three point two million, and in twenty thirty one he'll
- 27:13Speaker 2: get paid three point three five million. There's only four
- 27:19Speaker 2: athletic directors in the country that are getting paid more
- 27:25Speaker 2: than two million dollars and J. Batt is one of those.
- 27:31Speaker 2: And the other schools are Penn State, Ohio State, Texas
- 27:34Speaker 2: and Texas Tech. Is UK paying point too much for
- 27:39Speaker 2: an athletic director. I mean we don't have the money
- 27:42Speaker 2: Penn State, Ohio State, Texas has, I guess Texas Tech
- 27:46Speaker 2: as well. But my goodness, this state of Kentucky is
- 27:49Speaker 2: not very wealthy, but we've done well a spending the
- 27:54Speaker 2: old chechbook at the university.
- 27:56Speaker 4: I mean, Kentucky has the money to spend, so spend it.
- 27:58Speaker 3: I guess this gives me a little bit of a
- 28:00Speaker 3: vibe of you realize in this dude's tenure, he's been
- 28:03Speaker 3: to four schools for five years, so you're trying exactly
- 28:05Speaker 3: the same place, which I feel like this is a
- 28:07Speaker 3: pretty easy deal to want to stay in the same place.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Did you see what Jay Billis said about this yesterday?
- 28:12Speaker 1: No? I did not. What did he say? So?
- 28:14Speaker 4: He tweeted about it last night?
- 28:15Speaker 3: Whenever all this because I have like the Pete Ambil
- 28:17Speaker 3: tweet he may where he broke down everything that he's
- 28:19Speaker 3: getting paid for. Jay bill has quoted and said, is
- 28:22Speaker 3: anyone calling this an existential threat?
- 28:24Speaker 1: Oh?
- 28:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that's only when athletes seek their value? Got it?
- 28:28Speaker 4: Kind of like I guess you could take that multiple ways.
- 28:30Speaker 3: To me, it kind of sounds like he's taking a
- 28:32Speaker 3: shot at you know, one, he's taking a shot of
- 28:35Speaker 3: the world of college sports that we're complaining about how
- 28:37Speaker 3: much players players are getting paid. But it sounds like
- 28:39Speaker 3: he's also taken like a small shot at UK for
- 28:41Speaker 3: paying this guy this much money.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Well again, I'll go back to Jay Billson and remind
- 28:47Speaker 2: him how much did they play pay for Cooper Flag? So, yes,
- 28:52Speaker 2: I know what your argument is there that, but it
- 28:55Speaker 2: all came down to Cooper Flag got twenty eight million
- 28:58Speaker 2: dollars to go play for Duke university. So j Billis
- 29:02Speaker 2: needs to go look in the mirror and say, okay,
- 29:04Speaker 2: well maybe my school is a little crazy as well.
- 29:07Speaker 2: So I don't know if Jay Batt can bring in
- 29:12Speaker 2: the money he was supposedly bringing into the Michigan State,
- 29:15Speaker 2: then I guess it's worth it. That's less than it's
- 29:20Speaker 2: right around ten percent or less according to what numbers
- 29:24Speaker 2: you look at that he was raising in that short
- 29:26Speaker 2: time period he was at Michigan State.
- 29:28Speaker 1: But you're right. The part that concerns me is that
- 29:32Speaker 1: he's done a lot of job hopping.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I hope this is home now, but there were unusual
- 29:38Speaker 2: circumstances happening at Michigan State.
- 29:40Speaker 1: I mean, you're hired by a.
- 29:44Speaker 2: President of the university who leaves is like, okay, well
- 29:47Speaker 2: why do I want to stay here? So if your
- 29:50Speaker 2: president goes to Clemson and he takes off for UK,
- 29:53Speaker 2: I don't blame him from that standpoint. And that was
- 29:56Speaker 2: his first big job. And then when your president leaves
- 29:59Speaker 2: right away, So if you're hired in a big, big
- 30:02Speaker 2: job and the guy that hired you leaves after a year,
- 30:06Speaker 2: wouldn't you be like, well, maybe I should look for
- 30:09Speaker 2: something else.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I probably would Yeah, I definitely think about it, but
- 30:13Speaker 3: I guess it depends on what the situation is. Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 3: if they hire me, if the du hired me left
- 30:18Speaker 3: basically only a year after I started there, yes, I
- 30:20Speaker 3: would definitely be looking at other things at bare minimum.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I just I guess UK has this kind
- 30:27Speaker 1: of money. I didn't.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I honestly didn't think they did, but I guess they do.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I'm glad they do.
- 30:33Speaker 2: And that just means that Listen, if we can afford
- 30:37Speaker 2: to hire j Bett to do what he's doing and
- 30:39Speaker 2: are potentially what he's going to be able to do,
- 30:42Speaker 2: then I'm all for it because you know, I think
- 30:45Speaker 2: with athletic directors today, what do you feel like the
- 30:49Speaker 2: number one job is?
- 30:54Speaker 1: Uh?
- 30:55Speaker 4: I mean yeah, I guess fundraising.
- 30:56Speaker 1: I guess that was exactly That's what it's come down to.
- 30:59Speaker 2: But because you've got to pay all these athletes out
- 31:02Speaker 2: there for how many different sports you have? So to me,
- 31:06Speaker 2: the number one job of a president of the university
- 31:10Speaker 2: is fundraising. And now you've gotten to a point where
- 31:13Speaker 2: the number one job of an athletic director is fundraising.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Does it worry you a little bit that he has,
- 31:19Speaker 3: like all of these different roles in play. He's not
- 31:21Speaker 3: just the ath director. He's like the guy who runs
- 31:23Speaker 3: their LLC. He's the guy who forgot all of his time.
- 31:26Speaker 3: He's got like four or five different titles.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Does that give you and you're paying all this money?
- 31:31Speaker 3: Does that kind of gike you a little nervous in
- 31:33Speaker 3: the fact of, like, Okay, Kentucky's putting all of their
- 31:36Speaker 3: eggs in this guy's basket and we're paying them all
- 31:39Speaker 3: this money. He either needs to knock it out of
- 31:41Speaker 3: the park in fundraising or we're gonna have to make
- 31:43Speaker 3: have more than ever. Does that make you a little
- 31:46Speaker 3: nervous in the way that that's how college sports are
- 31:48Speaker 3: because it's the interest and are sorry the cost of
- 31:51Speaker 3: these players is going up so much every single year.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Probably so, But on the other hand, somebody has to
- 31:57Speaker 2: I mean, if it wasn't gonna be Jay Batt, so
- 31:59Speaker 2: let's not pick on Jay Bett. If it wasn't going
- 32:01Speaker 2: to be him, it was going to be somebody else.
- 32:03Speaker 2: So the fact that it's almost as if it's too
- 32:07Speaker 2: much for one person. So but hopefully he's a good
- 32:11Speaker 2: delegator because that's what's going to happen. Have to happen
- 32:13Speaker 2: to make certain that he does succeed. If he doesn't succeed,
- 32:17Speaker 2: it's like, okay, what's the buy out then to get
- 32:19Speaker 2: the next AFFLEIC director. But UK is known to keep
- 32:23Speaker 2: their aflectors for a long time, so Mitch Barnhardt was
- 32:27Speaker 2: there for many years, well close to I think it
- 32:30Speaker 2: was over twenty, So I listen. If that's the case,
- 32:34Speaker 2: then Jay BET's going to be there for the long haul.
- 32:38Speaker 2: I hope, as long as he succeeds. But it's not
- 32:42Speaker 2: just the AFFLEIC directors that need to make changes, it's
- 32:45Speaker 2: college as athletics in general. They just can't continue to
- 32:48Speaker 2: keep paying these players the amount they're playing with no
- 32:51Speaker 2: guarantees from the player side. That's what has to change,
- 32:55Speaker 2: not necessarily how they're making money, how they're fundraising, or
- 32:59Speaker 2: anything else like that, to make certain that these athletes
- 33:02Speaker 2: come to their respective school. But it's just what kind
- 33:06Speaker 2: of guarantees do these schools have. They're just writing a
- 33:08Speaker 2: check for no reason in hopes that that player will
- 33:12Speaker 2: come there, play number one, stay healthy, succeed and then
- 33:18Speaker 2: guess what, you got to start the whole process all
- 33:20Speaker 2: over again to the seasons over. You can't have that anymore.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's just that in UK has been burned in football
- 33:28Speaker 2: and basketball the last two years.
- 33:31Speaker 4: No, I mean I agree with that.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I think that there needs to be some type of
- 33:34Speaker 3: regulation towards the university and the players and like a
- 33:36Speaker 3: connection that you're getting. The university is getting more guarantees
- 33:40Speaker 3: with these guys they're spending money on and bringing in.
- 33:43Speaker 3: I think that we're trending towards that. I will agree
- 33:45Speaker 3: with you that I think that the college head coach
- 33:49Speaker 3: and the college athletic director excuse me, have more responsibility
- 33:55Speaker 3: now than they've ever had in their history at every
- 33:58Speaker 3: single university because now they're have to deal with money.
- 34:00Speaker 3: They're not only dealing with players or dealing with the
- 34:02Speaker 3: players agents. They're not just dealing with the agents, are
- 34:04Speaker 3: dealing with players' families every single day. The players are
- 34:07Speaker 3: more in the media now than ever, Like it is
- 34:10Speaker 3: it's it's not just a professional sport, it's it's almost
- 34:13Speaker 3: like a giant countrywide episode of the Housewives of the
- 34:19Speaker 3: United States. Like everything is publicized now except for the
- 34:23Speaker 3: numbers of how much people are getting paid. So I'm
- 34:26Speaker 3: not against Kentucky paying this much for an athletic director
- 34:29Speaker 3: I think at some point we're gonna see every country
- 34:31Speaker 3: or every country, every team in the country, like their
- 34:33Speaker 3: schools start paying their coaches and they're at there's a
- 34:37Speaker 3: little bit more because their caseload is larger, the more
- 34:40Speaker 3: they have more to worry about. So the one thing
- 34:42Speaker 3: that's funny is I feel like in the past four
- 34:45Speaker 3: or five years, the one thing that has been a
- 34:49Speaker 3: common nomor across college sports is Okay, well, we.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Don't see the numbers.
- 34:53Speaker 3: We don't see what these players are making exactly. We
- 34:55Speaker 3: get like vague iterations like oh, Milan is going for six,
- 34:58Speaker 3: he's going for four, Stokes is going for eight, these
- 35:01Speaker 3: going for five. You know, we get like a range.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Nobody tells us exactly what these players are getting paid.
- 35:06Speaker 3: But it seems like every single time like a major
- 35:10Speaker 3: news with like how much somebody's getting paid is coming out,
- 35:14Speaker 3: it's only from UK. Like it's like it's not a
- 35:18Speaker 3: negative thing, like UK is being very transparent, Like last
- 35:20Speaker 3: year was the whole roster situation and how much the
- 35:22Speaker 3: roster costs. Now it's major news of how much their
- 35:24Speaker 3: athletic director is gonna cost and how much they're given
- 35:27Speaker 3: in depth breakdowns of this guy's salary, and this guy's.
- 35:30Speaker 4: The the the.
- 35:32Speaker 3: Contract he signed, and you could probably go look that
- 35:35Speaker 3: up everywhere too. But I feel like it's I've never
- 35:37Speaker 3: seen it in the media as much as I is
- 35:39Speaker 3: when this stuff happens at Kentucky, which is surprising to me.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Yeah, well, and you're exactly correct, so uh, but it's just, uh,
- 35:47Speaker 2: it's it's it's an epidemic and it's only getting worse,
- 35:50Speaker 2: and somehow they got to figure a way to fix it.
- 35:52Speaker 2: So we got to take another break. Five O two
- 35:55Speaker 2: three four fourteen fifty. You want to call five oh
- 35:57Speaker 2: two four one four fourteen fifty. You want to take
- 35:59Speaker 2: someone the with SKII text line. We'll get to your
- 36:01Speaker 2: text as soon as we get back. Stay right there.
- 36:03Speaker 2: More just the cats coming right up on Bablo two
- 36:29Speaker 2: three four fourteen fifty. You want to call Fablo two
- 36:32Speaker 2: four one four fourteen fifty. You want to text in
- 36:34Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Thief text line. Let's get to a
- 36:36Speaker 2: couple of weeks before we go any further. But uh,
- 36:40Speaker 2: of course, nothing like a little technical issue. So yeah,
- 36:45Speaker 2: I don't do you have as much problems with this
- 36:48Speaker 2: text thing as much as I do. Okay, it's not
- 36:51Speaker 2: working for me. I'm not going to get to the
- 36:53Speaker 2: text right now. I can open them, can you okay?
- 36:56Speaker 3: Read the Ohio guy says classic gen Z move by
- 36:59Speaker 3: Matt Yesterday, oversleeping gassing his job. Okay, Oh god, let's
- 37:04Speaker 3: say you've I would love to ask your previous employer
- 37:07Speaker 3: and see if you've ever been late one time in
- 37:09Speaker 3: your entire life?
- 37:11Speaker 2: Oh how many times in your entire life have you
- 37:13Speaker 2: been late? I've been late, but not it's it's it's
- 37:17Speaker 2: been a long time since I've been late to something.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Not a lot. Unusually.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Have you ever have you ever overslept like that before?
- 37:24Speaker 2: I can literally say I've never overslept.
- 37:27Speaker 3: I have. I did it once or twice before. The
- 37:30Speaker 3: only times that it ever happened was when I was
- 37:33Speaker 3: working the ACC network. I That job was from like
- 37:37Speaker 3: eight am to five pm. And at the same time,
- 37:40Speaker 3: I was working night shift at UPS while paying for school,
- 37:43Speaker 3: so that's different. So I would work night shift, get
- 37:46Speaker 3: off work, go to work again, and then sleep, and
- 37:49Speaker 3: I would sleep from five to ten and go back
- 37:51Speaker 3: to work again.
- 37:52Speaker 4: That was the only time I've ever done that.
- 37:54Speaker 2: I don't know how you did that, but kudos to
- 37:56Speaker 2: you for doing that. One texture said that j Billis
- 37:59Speaker 2: quote it right over your heads, laugh out loud. Did
- 38:06Speaker 2: are we misreading it?
- 38:08Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 38:11Speaker 3: I know that he was making the point that we
- 38:12Speaker 3: should stop judging the players for getting paid when we're
- 38:16Speaker 3: like the way I interpret it was, we should stop
- 38:18Speaker 3: judging the payers or players getting paid if we're not
- 38:21Speaker 3: gonna judge the people up top and how much they're
- 38:24Speaker 3: getting paid as well, like it should be, we should
- 38:27Speaker 3: all be judging all of them together. If we're gonna
- 38:28Speaker 3: pick one, we can't just pick and choose. That's how
- 38:30Speaker 3: I wrote.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Uh. One person said, salaries are public at most universities.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Anyone can find out.
- 38:37Speaker 2: The problem was UK leaked last year's roster costs this year,
- 38:41Speaker 2: it's just guessing what it costs. Yeah, but uh, we
- 38:46Speaker 2: know what the coaches and now the athletic directors are
- 38:49Speaker 2: getting paid.
- 38:49Speaker 1: And I'm just I'm curious.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Uh if that's a lot of money for Kentucky that
- 38:57Speaker 2: I just I don't know if you ever Evidently niverson
- 39:00Speaker 2: Kentucky has more money than I.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Thought they did.
- 39:02Speaker 2: But yeah, it would be to be able to go
- 39:04Speaker 2: and be one of these top four schools to be
- 39:07Speaker 2: able to afford an athletic director and pay him that much.
- 39:09Speaker 1: But go ahead. I'm sorry, No, you're good.
- 39:11Speaker 3: I was gonna say it would be different if they
- 39:12Speaker 3: weren't paying Mark Stoops. And are they still doing the
- 39:17Speaker 3: Mitch Barnhart stuff where he's making like a million dollars
- 39:19Speaker 3: a year.
- 39:20Speaker 1: No, no, that's gone.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Okay, that's okay. I couldn't remember that.
- 39:23Speaker 1: Yeah, thank goodness, Yeah that it.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Oh by, sorry, I thought you saw the other ones.
- 39:29Speaker 4: Hi guy responded with it.
- 39:31Speaker 1: I got it, Yeah, I got it.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Ohilo guy said, jump around at Wisconsin is the best
- 39:35Speaker 2: song associated with the school.
- 39:40Speaker 1: I do too. I mean, ohhi guy, I get it.
- 39:44Speaker 2: But uh no, I don't think so all right of
- 39:49Speaker 2: songs that matches with schools, I can't, I said, Virginia Tech,
- 39:54Speaker 2: and I really like Baba O'Reilly. When they play that,
- 39:59Speaker 2: you need to pull that up. You need to pull
- 40:01Speaker 2: Boba O'Reilly up. And there is an iconic because it's
- 40:06Speaker 2: like a isn't it like a five minute song? It's
- 40:09Speaker 2: a long song. It's there, you go. I was, I
- 40:14Speaker 2: nailed it right there. So I just I looked at
- 40:16Speaker 2: that and I'm like there's not many songs out there
- 40:19Speaker 2: that are that long, but there this one is, and
- 40:24Speaker 2: it's just amazing. Uh, don't cry, don't raise your eyes.
- 40:29Speaker 2: It's only teenage wasteland. I'm getting confused with Oh, well,
- 40:33Speaker 2: but yeah, I love Bob O'reiley. Uh. But there there
- 40:36Speaker 2: are songs that The Who has that I love. There
- 40:39Speaker 2: are there are songs that Metallica has that I love.
- 40:42Speaker 3: The only song of The Who I can't name it,
- 40:45Speaker 3: but the one that reminds me all the time.
- 40:47Speaker 4: What was the one that was on?
- 40:49Speaker 1: Uh?
- 40:50Speaker 3: It was the intro song to See Us. I like
- 40:53Speaker 3: the early two thousand. I think that's Bob Oriley. Bob Oiley,
- 40:57Speaker 3: I believe it. Yeah, that would make sense. Then, yes,
- 40:59Speaker 3: I know what that's Yeah, okay, all right.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Do you have it? By the way, are you pulling
- 41:03Speaker 1: that song up? All right, go ahead and play it.
- 41:04Speaker 1: I don't care. Let's play it now.
- 41:06Speaker 4: I don't know if you'll be able to hear for sure.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Okay, never mind, I won't be able to hear now.
- 41:16Speaker 2: I can't hear a thing, but it's okay. Do you
- 41:18Speaker 2: now recognize that song?
- 41:21Speaker 4: Yes, that's the song that I'm thinking of. That's what I.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Thought, Yeah, so that's what University Georgia plays.
- 41:27Speaker 4: They played that.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yes, that's kind of one of their big songs, kind
- 41:31Speaker 2: of like we do walka Flaka.
- 41:33Speaker 1: So uh, but I like, to.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Me, I guess it depends on do you want classic
- 41:41Speaker 2: rock or do you want uh kind of a dance
- 41:47Speaker 2: song and that's what to me, that's what jump Around is.
- 41:51Speaker 2: It's a dance song that does get the crowd going
- 41:55Speaker 2: and their their their blood going. Or do you want
- 41:58Speaker 2: a classic rocks where you're just headbanging and there are.
- 42:02Speaker 1: A lot of time. To me, it almost depends on
- 42:04Speaker 1: which one.
- 42:05Speaker 3: I need something that you can sing to, like something
- 42:08Speaker 3: everybody knows, like like like you know, dancing is fun,
- 42:12Speaker 3: and like you know, like jump Around is cool because
- 42:14Speaker 3: like it makes the stay really loud. I get it,
- 42:15Speaker 3: But like there's something about for me when it comes
- 42:18Speaker 3: to those songs. Traditionally, it's not about creating this loud
- 42:21Speaker 3: environment and stuff like that. It's more about like bringing
- 42:24Speaker 3: everyone together and knowing the song all the times. Like
- 42:26Speaker 3: for example, whenever I go to football games, it always
- 42:29Speaker 3: kills me.
- 42:30Speaker 4: What's the song by? I'm blanking on his name? It's
- 42:35Speaker 4: your favorite artist ever? Margarita. Yeah, not Margaritaville. But what's
- 42:40Speaker 4: the other one?
- 42:41Speaker 3: Uh where he talks about something in a hurricane.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Uh, there's all right.
- 42:50Speaker 4: I can't remember what the song is called.
- 42:54Speaker 2: It's one of th reason with hurricane season. No, I
- 42:59Speaker 2: have no idea what you're talking about. They played it
- 43:03Speaker 2: literally like it's not five o'clock.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Somewhere cheese Burger in Paradise.
- 43:08Speaker 4: No, Oh my gosh, why is this?
- 43:11Speaker 1: I have no idea what.
- 43:12Speaker 4: There's jim about the song? That's not We can move on.
- 43:15Speaker 4: It's whatever, But there's not.
- 43:16Speaker 1: It's not like it. I like guessing whatever you're trying
- 43:19Speaker 1: to figure out.
- 43:19Speaker 3: But go ahead, maybe it is it's five o'clock somewhere.
- 43:22Speaker 3: But there's one that's played all the time. I hear
- 43:25Speaker 3: it all the time at Louisville football games. It's not Margaritaville,
- 43:28Speaker 3: though I know that for a fact, and what they do,
- 43:31Speaker 3: it's it's one that everybody knows.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Even I know the words to it. They always cut.
- 43:35Speaker 3: But you don't know the title to it that. I
- 43:37Speaker 3: don't know any song titles. I'm terrible with music titles.
- 43:40Speaker 3: But they always cut it off before whatever they're about
- 43:44Speaker 3: to do. They play it during timeouts and stuff, and
- 43:46Speaker 3: everybody keeps singing. Everybody keeps singing. Those are the ones
- 43:49Speaker 3: that I like because, like, it's not like about getting
- 43:52Speaker 3: super loud, it's about bringing everybody together. I think it
- 43:55Speaker 3: like like pumps me up and.
- 43:57Speaker 1: See I like that Pump it Up. That's another song.
- 43:59Speaker 2: By the way, one of my favorite things they do
- 44:05Speaker 2: at UK is and they don't do it. I think
- 44:07Speaker 2: they only do it like once a year at UK
- 44:10Speaker 2: Commonwealth Stadium in Reperena, where they have I think he's
- 44:13Speaker 2: one of the deans of the School of Music. He
- 44:15Speaker 2: comes there and he leads.
- 44:18Speaker 1: The national anthem.
- 44:20Speaker 2: So what he'll do is he'll start it and he's
- 44:23Speaker 2: you know, directing it with his arms, and then he
- 44:27Speaker 2: will step away from the mic and you only hear
- 44:31Speaker 2: the crowd singing in the national anthem because you have
- 44:34Speaker 2: so many people out there. It's like, well, I need
- 44:36Speaker 2: to do my little bit on the national anthem, and
- 44:39Speaker 2: they'll always add more notes than there really are to it,
- 44:43Speaker 2: and all this kind of stuff.
- 44:44Speaker 1: I never liked that.
- 44:46Speaker 2: When this guy comes in here, the dean, if somebody
- 44:49Speaker 2: knows what his name is, please text it to me.
- 44:51Speaker 2: He does a phenomenal job. Always gives me cold chills,
- 44:55Speaker 2: and to me, it's great when you hear the entire stadium,
- 44:59Speaker 2: the entire referina singing the song a cappella.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I just love that.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I mean, that's kind that stuff. Yeah, I do too.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I just that's the song I'm thinking about. Is it's
- 45:10Speaker 2: five o'clock somewhere. That's what I'm thinking of. It is
- 45:12Speaker 2: five o'clock. They they talk about hurricanes and that's with
- 45:15Speaker 2: Alan Jackson.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Yes, that's the song I'm thinking of.
- 45:17Speaker 3: They play it all the time and everybody sings it,
- 45:19Speaker 3: and like when they stop the music, people keep singing it.
- 45:21Speaker 4: And I just love that stuff.
- 45:23Speaker 2: So you like that, Yeah, I'm with you right there.
- 45:25Speaker 2: That is fun when they cut the music off. You know,
- 45:28Speaker 2: they do that with the song that you don't like
- 45:30Speaker 2: that much, And that's sweet Caroline.
- 45:32Speaker 4: That's true.
- 45:33Speaker 1: They'll do that at.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Different places too, but yeah, you know the whole they
- 45:37Speaker 2: do the bump bump buh, and it's just like, Okay,
- 45:39Speaker 2: that's nice. But anyway, one person said, what do you
- 45:46Speaker 2: think of Dicky v complaining about UK basketball's non conference
- 45:50Speaker 2: schedule on x We talked about that a couple of
- 45:52Speaker 2: days ago, but I'm happy to talk about it again.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Uh I or did we talk about it?
- 45:57Speaker 3: We talked about the schedule, but like, I don't think
- 45:59Speaker 3: Dicky V had react to it until after we were
- 46:01Speaker 3: all okay.
- 46:02Speaker 1: All right?
- 46:02Speaker 2: Then I I reacted to it on Twitter, is what
- 46:06Speaker 2: I did. I tweeted it back out and said I
- 46:09Speaker 2: wish you would concentrate on your health and not UK schedule.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I listen, what's that a.
- 46:18Speaker 4: Little hurtful for Michael Bennett.
- 46:20Speaker 1: That's not hurtful.
- 46:21Speaker 2: I'm just saying, dude, concentrate on your health, not on
- 46:24Speaker 2: the UK. How was that hurtful? I thought that was
- 46:26Speaker 2: as nice as a way I could say it, other
- 46:29Speaker 2: than shut up, old man.
- 46:30Speaker 4: That was a nice way you could say. I don't
- 46:32Speaker 4: want to make you angry, Michael.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Really, okay. I didn't think I was necessarily mean. You're
- 46:37Speaker 2: telling me I was mean to Dicky V.
- 46:40Speaker 1: I didn't like it.
- 46:41Speaker 2: I mean, it seems to me since cal has gone
- 46:44Speaker 2: from UK and gone to Arkansas, Dicky b has totally
- 46:48Speaker 2: been negative towards UK, and it just kind of driven
- 46:52Speaker 2: me nuts. I don't know, maybe that's just me, but
- 46:55Speaker 2: I haven't enjoyed dick Fie tell in a while, but
- 47:00Speaker 2: uh yeah, it's it's it's different.
- 47:03Speaker 1: So anyway, all right, let's go ahead and take a break.
- 47:08Speaker 2: When we come back, we got Matthew soccer segment and
- 47:12Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it. So FABO two three eight
- 47:15Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty. You want to call FAVO two four
- 47:19Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty, you want to text in, stay
- 47:21Speaker 2: right there, Our two Adjust the Cats coming right out.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Our number two Adjust the Cats on this Thursday five
- 47:46Speaker 2: O two three four fourteen fifty. If you want to
- 47:49Speaker 2: call FAVO two four one four fourteen fifty. If you
- 47:51Speaker 2: want to text in on the wiz the Thief text line,
- 47:53Speaker 2: and uh, you're off tomorrow? Is that correct?
- 47:56Speaker 1: Correct? Yeah? Who's filling in? Do you know?
- 47:59Speaker 2: Nobody's told me? Yeah, and so therefore I'm off as well.
- 48:02Speaker 2: So but we'll be back on Monday. But uh uh uh.
- 48:07Speaker 2: The CSI theme song by the who is who Are You?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Yes?
- 48:11Speaker 2: I looked it up and there they are correct. Okay,
- 48:13Speaker 2: well yeah, so there, so thank you. See that's Will
- 48:17Speaker 2: from South End and Will knows his music. Just to
- 48:20Speaker 2: let you know he knows his music and he knows
- 48:22Speaker 2: his TV shows, So that right there, I thank you
- 48:25Speaker 2: will from South End because we need to help because
- 48:27Speaker 2: Matthew didn't know his music or his TV.
- 48:29Speaker 3: Shows don't use either. Usually why is that? I used
- 48:34Speaker 3: to listen to a lot of music. I don't really
- 48:36Speaker 3: listen to a lot of it anymore. One because I
- 48:38Speaker 3: just my drive to work is only like three minutes,
- 48:41Speaker 3: so I usually don't have time to listen to one song.
- 48:44Speaker 3: And then TV shows I feel like I have to
- 48:46Speaker 3: like sit down and commit to and after a couple episodes,
- 48:48Speaker 3: I usually just get burned out.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I well, you know that's funny. I'm kind of
- 48:53Speaker 2: the same way. But I pushed on through a couple
- 48:55Speaker 2: of shows and I ended up liking him, like, for instance,
- 48:59Speaker 2: only Murders in the Building. I had a tough time
- 49:03Speaker 2: getting into that. That's the one with Steve Martin and
- 49:05Speaker 2: Martin Short. And I've gotten to a point where I
- 49:09Speaker 2: actually really like it.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Now.
- 49:11Speaker 2: There's some episodes as like why am I still watching this?
- 49:13Speaker 2: But then I get back into it the next one
- 49:15Speaker 2: will be really good, so it's almost like one's good
- 49:18Speaker 2: one's bad. But I do because I love Martin Short.
- 49:22Speaker 2: I think he's one of the funniest guys out there.
- 49:24Speaker 2: And I love Steve Martin. I think he's the same
- 49:27Speaker 2: way and their relationship with each other is just really amazing.
- 49:33Speaker 2: And I probably feel a little more for Martin short
- 49:36Speaker 2: because he's lost his wife and just recently lost his daughter.
- 49:39Speaker 2: So and I've always admired his work. I thought it
- 49:42Speaker 2: was really one of the funniest guys out there. So
- 49:45Speaker 2: and yes, Three Amigos is one of my all time
- 49:48Speaker 2: favorite movies. I'd helped Too, which was a terrible movie,
- 49:52Speaker 2: but it's become a cult classic.
- 49:54Speaker 1: And you've never seen that movie, have you?
- 49:56Speaker 2: No? Yeah, if Corey was here, he would be uh yeah,
- 49:59Speaker 2: he's all over the movie.
- 50:00Speaker 1: That's that's a classic.
- 50:02Speaker 3: My biggest that peep with TV shows is that they
- 50:05Speaker 3: don't make TV shows to tell stories anymore. They make
- 50:08Speaker 3: TV shows solely to get people to watch them. So
- 50:10Speaker 3: like like things like the really good ones like Game
- 50:13Speaker 3: of Thrones, Breaking Bad, you know, The Wire, all those
- 50:16Speaker 3: great so the Sopranos, all those great shows. Back in
- 50:18Speaker 3: the day, their stories were done kind of before they
- 50:21Speaker 3: were fully started to be produced, Like people knew where
- 50:23Speaker 3: the show.
- 50:24Speaker 4: Was gonna go.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Now they get to a point where like the first
- 50:27Speaker 3: season of a show is like really good and you're like, hey,
- 50:29Speaker 3: get this, you need to watch this.
- 50:31Speaker 4: It's so good.
- 50:33Speaker 3: They just continue to make seasons of that popular show
- 50:36Speaker 3: until nobody watches anymore. Then they cancel it. Like shows
- 50:38Speaker 3: aren't made with an ending anymore. They're made until like
- 50:41Speaker 3: they just keep getting made until people don't watch them.
- 50:44Speaker 4: Is the problem.
- 50:45Speaker 2: What's the TV show that's been on for like a
- 50:49Speaker 2: thousand years. It's the one based in New York and
- 50:51Speaker 2: it's uh is that CSI uh.
- 50:56Speaker 1: SBU Law and Order?
- 50:58Speaker 2: That's it to me, that's the same show over and over.
- 51:03Speaker 2: I have never been able to watch that. And I
- 51:05Speaker 2: hate to tell you one of the well the shows
- 51:07Speaker 2: that you mentioned, especially like I know everybody watched The Sopranos.
- 51:13Speaker 2: I didn't watch a single episode of it. I didn't
- 51:16Speaker 2: watch that. I didn't watch Seinfeld. I don't know, people,
- 51:21Speaker 2: what was the other one? Friends? I never watched that. Yeah,
- 51:26Speaker 2: I watched a.
- 51:26Speaker 3: Little bit of Seinfeld. My mom loved that show. My
- 51:29Speaker 3: mom's sitcom was Everybody Loves Raymond. She loved that show.
- 51:32Speaker 1: I never watched that one.
- 51:33Speaker 4: That one was okay, The Sopranos. I was not a
- 51:35Speaker 4: fan of.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Oh you were not. Oh you acted like you were
- 51:39Speaker 1: a fan of it, so I just assumed you were not.
- 51:41Speaker 4: I just know that one's like a cult classic.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Like everybody that recommends shows, they always recommend the Sopranos.
- 51:45Speaker 3: At some point, it's just way too slow for me.
- 51:47Speaker 3: I gat bored during that show.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, I've never watched a Game of Thrones.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I never watched that was a movie. But lost, I
- 51:55Speaker 2: don't know, I lost. I never saw that. Yeah, every
- 52:00Speaker 2: show you're mentioning right now, I've never watched any of them.
- 52:03Speaker 2: So uh anyway, all right? Uh did I go a
- 52:06Speaker 2: little too far on the whole Dicky v thing You've
- 52:08Speaker 2: made me?
- 52:08Speaker 1: Perry?
- 52:09Speaker 4: I was just messing with you.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Well, okay, good? So, uh should he be commenting?
- 52:15Speaker 2: Does it feel like to you he's been real negative
- 52:18Speaker 2: about UK since Mark Pope's been the town.
- 52:21Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 52:22Speaker 3: I mean maybe, like I get that he has a
- 52:24Speaker 3: really close relationship with Cala Perry, so does Seth Greenberg,
- 52:28Speaker 3: and that was like a big deal for you know,
- 52:29Speaker 3: like that's why he just likes Kentucky a little bit
- 52:32Speaker 3: more and this and that. I get that stuff. They're
- 52:34Speaker 3: old guys in the game who've been together forever. He's
- 52:36Speaker 3: gonna stand up for his friends. But at the end
- 52:39Speaker 3: of the day, I mean, it's literally the dude's job
- 52:41Speaker 3: to have an opinion. So I mean, if he wants
- 52:42Speaker 3: to have an opinion, he can.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Well, all right, let me ask you this, then, what
- 52:48Speaker 2: are you thinking of Mark Pope's beard?
- 52:50Speaker 4: He has a beard.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Oh, you haven't ever since he went to the beach,
- 52:55Speaker 2: And it seems like the whole beard has change the
- 53:00Speaker 2: basketball program because that's when mil I'm mom Chilovich decided
- 53:05Speaker 2: to commit to Kentucky and I listen, people are starting
- 53:10Speaker 2: to really embrace the Pope beard because you know, he's
- 53:13Speaker 2: bald on top, which still some people look good with
- 53:17Speaker 2: bald some people don't. I think Mark Pope looks okay
- 53:21Speaker 2: with a bald head. But I'm starting to really embrace
- 53:25Speaker 2: the beard because to me, it has brought good luck
- 53:29Speaker 2: to him and to the basketball team. I listen, he's
- 53:32Speaker 2: going full out zz top if he continues to wear
- 53:36Speaker 2: it and UK has a really good season next year. Yeah,
- 53:40Speaker 2: I mean, let him rock if he wants to rocket.
- 53:41Speaker 2: If it works for him, yeah, it does work. Well,
- 53:45Speaker 2: I don't know, I mean, I'm not a beard guy.
- 53:47Speaker 2: I'm not a facial hair guy. I mean you are,
- 53:50Speaker 2: But I think I would look ridiculous in a beard.
- 53:53Speaker 2: There's no way I would ever grow. You couldn't bet
- 53:56Speaker 2: me anything that I would want to grow a beard
- 53:58Speaker 2: on my face?
- 54:00Speaker 1: Doesn't it? Itch? No?
- 54:02Speaker 3: Like I mean, I don't know, not really, But I
- 54:05Speaker 3: also like have to have facial hair.
- 54:06Speaker 4: I look like a literal infant without facial hair.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Who cares? That's a positive? When you look like an
- 54:13Speaker 2: infant like that, you want to stay young. Listen, in
- 54:15Speaker 2: twenty years, you're gonna think, man, I wish I still
- 54:17Speaker 2: look like the infant.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Well, in twenty years, i'll have a beer. You know
- 54:21Speaker 3: it'll be all right, good, So the beer will make
- 54:22Speaker 3: me look younger.
- 54:24Speaker 2: Okay, good, all right, Just I give up with you
- 54:26Speaker 2: some days, I'm just going to give up and trust me,
- 54:29Speaker 2: I'm going to write long texts when you text me again. Okay,
- 54:32Speaker 2: it's going to be a long drawn out text. I
- 54:34Speaker 2: might even use AI what should I say to Matthew?
- 54:37Speaker 2: Because my feelings might get hurt with a one word answer.
- 54:40Speaker 2: All right, it's time for my favorite segment. Now, my
- 54:43Speaker 2: newly favorite segment, with Matthew Childress talking about the World Cup.
- 54:47Speaker 2: All right, are you ready to get us prepared for
- 54:50Speaker 2: Team USA playing Australia.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Yes, play Australia.
- 54:54Speaker 3: I even got the team right, So this game is
- 54:57Speaker 3: going to be I want to use the phrase similar
- 55:00Speaker 3: to the match against Paraguay.
- 55:02Speaker 2: They play a series is that it's Paraguay.
- 55:08Speaker 3: I just accidentally it's Paraguay, but I it's Paraguay, just.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Like Okay, all right, then a Paraguay. I've mispronounced it
- 55:21Speaker 2: my entire life.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Paraguay.
- 55:23Speaker 3: But Paraguay is super physical. They play a lot of defense.
- 55:27Speaker 3: That was what was surprising when they play their match
- 55:30Speaker 3: against them is how easy the United States.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Is able to pick them off. Australia is gonna do
- 55:34Speaker 4: something different.
- 55:37Speaker 3: They're going to play a heavily defensive game, just like
- 55:39Speaker 3: Paraguay did, but they're gonna play with a back five,
- 55:41Speaker 3: which is basically five defenders in the back line, so
- 55:44Speaker 3: you're gonna take a lot away from your attack. This
- 55:46Speaker 3: team's main goal is to park the bus, which means
- 55:50Speaker 3: you're going to have almost all eleven players behind the
- 55:54Speaker 3: ball on defense. Just to make it as difficult as
- 55:56Speaker 3: possible to score. You put more bodies in front of
- 55:58Speaker 3: the goal, it's harder to get in on the goal
- 56:00Speaker 3: and possibly score.
- 56:01Speaker 4: Their goal is to.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Force a turnover early and early on your possession in
- 56:07Speaker 3: your your final third or in the midfield, and run
- 56:09Speaker 3: counter attack. Basically just full sprint down the pitch, try
- 56:12Speaker 3: and catch you off guard, and try and score super
- 56:15Speaker 3: quickly intransic, just like they're basically have like a fast
- 56:17Speaker 3: break offense.
- 56:18Speaker 2: All right, Can I stop to you there for a second,
- 56:20Speaker 2: because I have no idea what you're talking about. When
- 56:23Speaker 2: you say pitch, I'm thinking baseball. I don't know what
- 56:27Speaker 2: you mean all means, Michael, I know, say it again
- 56:31Speaker 2: because I didn't listen the first.
- 56:32Speaker 3: That's just what they call it fields like soccer fields, Okay,
- 56:35Speaker 3: because their fields are pitched.
- 56:36Speaker 1: That's right, That's right. You did tell like parabliform. Like
- 56:40Speaker 1: I'm not going to.
- 56:41Speaker 2: Remember everything you say. Okay, So I apologize for not
- 56:44Speaker 2: remember what pitchman.
- 56:45Speaker 1: But go ahead.
- 56:45Speaker 4: Okay.
- 56:46Speaker 1: So they're like, don't ruin my favorite segment. Now.
- 56:48Speaker 3: They play offense kind of like heavily transition based. They
- 56:52Speaker 3: play like a in basketball terms, like a super fast
- 56:55Speaker 3: break level offense. They're trying to turn you over. They're
- 56:57Speaker 3: trying to run out and transition and get numbers on you,
- 57:00Speaker 3: you know, a man to man. They're trying to catch
- 57:01Speaker 3: you down four to three or three to two, and
- 57:04Speaker 3: they're gonna try and score fast. The way that the
- 57:07Speaker 3: US can win this game is by kind of taking
- 57:10Speaker 3: that into their account and using it against them. The
- 57:13Speaker 3: United States has a really strong midfield. They're great at
- 57:16Speaker 3: pressuring as soon as they turn the ball over. So
- 57:18Speaker 3: if you watch close to when they play Paraguay, every
- 57:21Speaker 3: time they turn the ball over, they sent two or
- 57:23Speaker 3: three guys to kind of trap the guy who just
- 57:26Speaker 3: force the turnover and try and make make an errant
- 57:29Speaker 3: pass or an errant throw. You know, if the United
- 57:32Speaker 3: States can do that, they can kind of break down
- 57:34Speaker 3: their defense. So instead of having eleven guys in front
- 57:36Speaker 3: of you, you can catch them off guard and their
- 57:38Speaker 3: counter attack. Now you have the man advantage and just
- 57:41Speaker 3: kind of, you know, force it down the middle, use
- 57:43Speaker 3: the wings effectively whenever they try and crash on the
- 57:45Speaker 3: ball and trying and whip into the box. You know,
- 57:47Speaker 3: they're gonna play a lot of headers in this game.
- 57:49Speaker 3: They're gonna try and use the wings a lot, so
- 57:51Speaker 3: they're gonna play from the sides of the field instead
- 57:53Speaker 3: of going down the middle like they did against Paraguay
- 57:55Speaker 3: a lot, which is gonna be interesting to see. It's
- 57:58Speaker 3: one where I believe the United States is quite a
- 58:02Speaker 3: bit better than Australia, even though they did pull out
- 58:05Speaker 3: a really good win against uh Turkey A. I know
- 58:08Speaker 3: you guys made fun of me for calling it that
- 58:09Speaker 3: the other day, but that that's what that's what they
- 58:11Speaker 3: That's what they're legally called.
- 58:12Speaker 4: Now, I'm not trying to sound fancy.
- 58:14Speaker 2: That's it sounds ridiculous though, their Turkey.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Why why do we have to change the names of country?
- 58:19Speaker 4: I don't know they change it. That's just what they're pronounced.
- 58:21Speaker 3: Now.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Well, it's almost like, well, it's just call it USAA.
- 58:24Speaker 2: I mean, just like the stink and commercial us A.
- 58:27Speaker 2: But uh, it's no, it's not Turkey A. It's Turkey.
- 58:31Speaker 2: It's Czechoslovakia.
- 58:33Speaker 3: I don't disagree. That's just what they call it. But
- 58:35Speaker 3: a right, go ahead, it's it's you know, they're playing
- 58:39Speaker 3: kind of above what people are expecting to play. But
- 58:41Speaker 3: a lot of teams in this term, I have a
- 58:43Speaker 3: lot of the African teams. Have you know, kind of
- 58:45Speaker 3: pushed above their punch, above their weight and shown a
- 58:47Speaker 3: lot of surprises this year. So it's definitely not something
- 58:51Speaker 3: you should sleepwalk into. But if the United States plays
- 58:55Speaker 3: even a similar brand of soccer they did against Paraguay,
- 58:58Speaker 3: this game should almost see be easier than that game.
- 59:01Speaker 4: This team Australia.
- 59:02Speaker 3: Australia is not as talented as Paraguay, they're not as physical,
- 59:05Speaker 3: they're not as as big. It's one where you just
- 59:09Speaker 3: gotta play your game, you know, like you go out there,
- 59:12Speaker 3: don't get intimidated.
- 59:13Speaker 4: They're gonna try and frustrate you. It's the simple.
- 59:16Speaker 3: When Kentucky plays a low ranked team, what's the first
- 59:19Speaker 3: thing that low ranked team does. You'd say Kentucky has
- 59:22Speaker 3: a ninety percent chance to win. What is that team
- 59:24Speaker 3: trying to do? They try and frustrate the other team.
- 59:26Speaker 3: They foul a lot, They try and get in your head.
- 59:28Speaker 3: They use a bunch of gimmicks. This is what's kind
- 59:30Speaker 3: of it's gonna be. They are Australia is gonna want
- 59:32Speaker 3: to slow this game down to a pace where the
- 59:35Speaker 3: United States will get frustrated, make a stupid mistake trying
- 59:38Speaker 3: to score, and then Australia will try and capitalize on it.
- 59:41Speaker 3: So if you play like you did against Paraguay, you
- 59:43Speaker 3: dominate the possession, you wait for your openings, you kind
- 59:46Speaker 3: of break them down pass by pass, they will falter
- 59:49Speaker 3: to the side. But at the same time, you gotta
- 59:53Speaker 3: understand that the United States is only playing with three
- 59:55Speaker 3: defenders back there, and one of them is like thirty
- 59:57Speaker 3: six year old Tim Reim. This guy's knees are not
- 59:59Speaker 3: to give out underneath them, so you cannot give the
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: ball up in a bad position or else they will
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: get out and run. Because this is a this is
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: a quick team. They are lethal. It's one where the
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: United States is going to get their opportunities to score.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: They're gonna get a lot of shots on goal. It's
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: gonna be a lot of balls whipped into the box
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: by dudes like Freeman and Anthony Robinson and Serginio dst.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: They're gonna get a lot of touches in this game.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: But it's gonna come down to can the United States
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: be as clinical as they were in their first game?
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: Can they finish when they actually get the ball in
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: those close areas in the box. The Australia players really,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: really close to the goalkeeper they live, they leave kind
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: of a dead zone at the top of the box.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: So this is not gonna be one where you're gonna
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: expect a lot of passes around the box trying to
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: get as close as you can. You're gonna see five
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: or six shots outside the box in this game. You're
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: gonna see dudes taking it from a long way out
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: because Australia is gonna give you that space. You just
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: gotta break them down. So it's gonna be one where
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: this one probably won't be as fast paced as the
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: last United States men's national team game was. This one's
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: gonna be a lot slow, or it's gonna be a
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: lot more methodical. It's gonna be one where if you're
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: a big soccer fan, you should be able to appreciate
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: the products on the field. If you're not a soccer fan,
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: you're probably gonna say, wow, this is really boring. This
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: game is so slow. Well that's it only one, nothing
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: like it's gonna be one of those. Is how can
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: break it down? How did they come up with the divisions?
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: Is that just randomly picked?
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: It's randomly drawn?
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: It is?
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: And do you trust that I trust that you do Okay,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: this is the draw on a live television Okay, so
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: the draw that the Team USA got, is it pretty
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: favorable for them, because it seems like that's what I've heard.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: Yes, it's very favorable. So there are they kind of
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: categorize these drawings. So when I say it's randomly drawn,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: there are a couple of stipulations to it. There are
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: things called Pot one teams, and pot one teams are
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: like the top ten teams in the world, the top
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: ten countries in the world are a Pot one team.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Those teams have a better chance kind of like the
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: NBA Lottery of getting the worst teams in their group
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: could easily so.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: The Pop one teams, I would assume that Argentine is
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: probably one of or one of them.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: I would assume England is one of them. They're one
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: of them, right, Who are the other teams that are You.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Could give it to France, you could give it to
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: a Brazil like, you give it to a Portugal, like
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: those top those really top teams. But when you're a
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: host team, you are a Pop one team, you're basically
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: guaranteed a Pot one team, so you know you instantly
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: get a pretty favorable draw. It's not one hundred percent
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: you're gonna get the worst teams ever. But the United
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: States has a really favorable draw if they win tomorrow.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: If they win tomorrow at three pm, you have a
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: really really good chance of solidifying yourself as the number
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: one team in that group before the weekend's even over.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: If you win, and then Turkey a either draw or lose.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: No matter what happens that third game, united States wins
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: the group. They win the group, they get the best
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: draw going into the knockout round. So I'm predicting they
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: win this game like two to one.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: So it'll be a close game then, is what you think?
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: I think that the United States will get ahead early.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: I think they'll be up around two to oh and
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: then they'll make kind of a dumb mistake later on
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: in the game and give Australia a counter attack and
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: they'll capitalize on it, kind of like what they did
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: against Paraguay.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, interesting. And the game is going to be
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: played in Seattle, is that correct?
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: Yes, it'll be at the Seahawks Stadium.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: Yeah, which we it's not supposed to be known as
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: the Seahawks Stadium.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: It's at the Seattle stadium, right.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Yeah, they call it by whatever city.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: For example, the Jillette Stadium is titled the Boston Stadium.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: It's not even in Boston, it's in Foxborough.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Well did you see where somebody took tape onto every
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: single seat to cover up the advertisement of the seat
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: within that stadium.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: I didn't see that, but I know they They've been
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: covering up the logos in all the stadiums stuff like that.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: Somebody took blue tape and taped every I think it
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: was Jillette Stadium if I'm not correct, if I'm not wrong,
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: but and taped every single seat to cover up the advertising,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: which I think is the dumbest thing. I really don't
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: understand the rule that, well, we're not going to show
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: any advertising, and to make all these stadiums go to
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: the expense of covering up all the ads.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I just think it's kind of ridiculous.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like a FIFA thing. I don't I have
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: no idea how that stuff works or what the stipulation is.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: I imagine we make those advertisers pay you. I mean,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: that's what you do.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: It's like, okay, if you want this to be utilized
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: on the World Cup, then guess what, You're gonna pay
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: us some money and you get to keep your advertisement
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: on the stadium. To me, that's another way to generate
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: more money for them instead of charging all these fans
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: all these ridiculous ticket prices. I mean, I can't I
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: couldn't agree with you more. I don't really get why,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: Like I haven't looked into why that's going on. I
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: imagine it's just a FIFA thing.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: The way my first initial thought about it was it
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: just makes it easier for the people from other countries
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: who aren't here. They know where the games can play.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: That so it's like, oh, this one's in Boston, this
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: one's in New York. That's fair because they don't I
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: get that. Like, if you're watching it from Tunisia, you
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: don't know what Gillette Stadium is. You know it's Boston Stadium.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: Like I think that that's obviously my ignorant. I haven't
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: done the research take, but I generally think that they
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: FIFA just paid these brands to not have to have
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: their ads on it. It's the same thing as like
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: when you see music nowadays. A lot of music nowadays
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: doesn't have the this song featuring Blah Blah anymore, it
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: just has the song name. Like those artists pay more
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: to the artists featuring so they don't have to have
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: their name on it.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: That's kind of how I feel.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: Maybe FIFA paid these advertisers off so they don't have
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: their name on stuff and just make it easier.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: Is it the British fan base English fan base that
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: is drank the drunk uh Boston out of all the
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: beer in.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: The Scottish fan base?
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: Is it the Scottish base?
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: How crazy is that that now Boston, the city of Boston,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: all the bars there are literally scrambling trying to get
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: more alcohol for this fan base.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: No, it's been funny to watch because like they basically
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: made a whole segment on following the Scottish fan base
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: of wherever they're going.
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: This one guy, I forgot what city they were.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: In before Boston, but a bunch of Scottish fans stayed
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: in an airbnb across the street from this guy's house.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: They watched, they invited him over, they watched all the
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: games together and when they left to go to their
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: next city, they left them like five bottles of Johnny
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: Walker as are You as a gift for like their
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: hospitality and stuff. He's like, oh my gosh, I'm gonna
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: miss the Scots so much. Like there was a video
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: I saw with it like a bunch of the Scottish
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: fans all went to uh, they all went to Uh
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: wasn't Fenway. They all went to Fenway together and like
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: watched the watch the base saw that.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and they had.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: They showed the video of them all singing in the
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: stands yes, which I thought was pretty cool. I thought,
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: I've seen the video of the Norwegian fans that are
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: going up an escalator as if they're rowing a boat, yes,
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: which I thought was funny. It's just crazy how these
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: fan bases have really taken over this country and everybody.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: I feel like the.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Citizens of the United States have just fully embraced this
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: and really enjoyed it. Almost to the point where does
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: it make you think that the FIFA would love to
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: come back to this country again sooner than later to
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: have a hosted again.
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: I think they definitely will. It's the point where you're
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: making so much money, not only on the ticket sales,
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: but like like you said earlier, Michael, the stadiums are
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: all filled out. Every single game is packed the hospitality
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: has been through the roof people love having these countries here.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: The one thing that really opened my eyes to this,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: and I was nervous about it when this started up,
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: was like, how were the fans of other countries going
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: to enjoy themselves being in America?
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Like, what was the whole.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Capitalistic side of it going to push people away? It
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: really proves to you that our world is ruined by
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: the media. It's terrible, Like the media is I'm being serious,
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: like but you and me, No, I mean like, I
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: mean like news media, like everything. It's so negative in
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: the news all the time, especially over there, because our
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: news is their news because US is such a big power.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: All they see is the gun violence, they see the
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: government issues, they see the political problems, they see all
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: this stuff. And then all these people from other countries
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: are coming to America and saying, oh my gosh, this
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: place is amazing, Like the people are super nice, the
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: food is great.
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: There's that there.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Might it's not might not be like the most cultural
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: country in the world, but it's such a fun environment
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: to be in. You Like, there's so many different places
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: you can come and visit and see. It's such a
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: great travel destination. It really is an eye opener of like,
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: our news today is just ninety nine percent negativity and
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: it puts such a bad look on this country. And
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: people are just enjoying themselves. So it makes me happy
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: to see them.
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's I think the happy part is too,
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: is that some of the news outlets are are reporting
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: the fun and I like that too, so I think that's.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: A lot of fun.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: All Right, we got to take another break. Favo two
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: three four fourteen fifty. Fave O two four one four
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: fourteen fifty my favorite segment right there. I do want
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: to talk about a couple of other soccer.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: Things before we leave the soccer conversation.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: But I'm surprising myself that I'm talking about this this
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: as much. But it's just it's been so much fun
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: watching the fans from other countries come here and experience this.
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: You're right, Matthew, It's just it's made it fun for
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: me too to watch them enjoy themselves. All right, let's
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: take another break. Stay right there, we're just cats coming
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: right up.
- 1:09:52Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I'm trying to get to going. Okay, now
- 1:09:54Speaker 4: we're going there.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: We go okay, Well, you didn't as much. We were
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: just talking about Messy and soccer. So all the podcasts
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: you did this a thing right there. So but you
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: they got your whole segment though of soccer from before though,
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: didn't they?
- 1:10:06Speaker 4: Yeah, they had everything else that was okay.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: I was just like, I want to make sure, yeah,
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: podcast listeners get that stuff. Uh, here's the only question
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: I have. You know, the starting two days the US Open,
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: is the World Cup gonna overshadow the US Open this year?
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: The first couple of days, yes, I think Sunday we'll
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: see a lot more people watching the at least in America,
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: we'll see a lot more people watching the US Open.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: But today Friday, Saturday, yes, I'll say the World couple.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Shadowing I think so too, especially with Yeah, especially tomorrow
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: with Team USA. Now after that ball ball game or
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: whatever it's called match, I think Saturday people will start
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: tuning into the US Open.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: So, but I'm rooting for JB. Holmes.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: I think, uh, hopefully this will be a big, big
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: tournament for him. We'll have to see. But Shitnacock's really
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: cool place. I mean, that's that's one of those more
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: iconic golf courses.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Wouldn't you agree?
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: I would agree, Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: Yeah, So anybody you think is gonna win, because that's
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: one of those things we've done it before and between
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: you and Justin, didn't Justin pick it the last time
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: he almost had the winner?
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: Was it the Masters?
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: I think?
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, my single and favorite is gonna be JB.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Holmes. Do you have somebody you're gonna pick?
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: As far as the US Open starting, this was already
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: started this morning.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: I my big guy has been the past couple tournaments
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: has been Cam Young. I think after we saw what
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: he did the Masters, he's been a favorite to win
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: a lot of that. He's not favorite this week obviously,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: but he's he had a really good season so far.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: Some excited see what he does. The thing I'm worried
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: about in this tournament, I'm actually really scared of this
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: golf tournament because this is Scotty's last tournament he has
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: to win for his career Grand Slam. If Scotty were
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: to win this, because he he's already avidly come out
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: and said that golf is like second or third in
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: his life. Now you know, he's made a lot of money,
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: his family has generational wealth. He'll be able to give
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: his grandkids, grandkids, money if he wants to. He is
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: a big family guy. His religion is very important to him.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: Like he's just out there playing golf mas. He's a
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: huge competitor. Obviously, there is a real chance if Scotty
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: wins this turnament, because I think as of today he's
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: still the favorite to win. Yes, it would not surprise
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: me if Scotch sky Schuller walked away from golf after
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: completing his career slaw.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: Really if he because this is his last one Verus
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: career slam.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Right, what else is the guy? Is he?
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: Is he He's only like twenty eight or twenty nine.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: He might be thirty. I was going to say, is
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: he even thirty? I don't know if he's a thirty. Yeah,
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: you say that he is going to just walk away
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: from golf altogether.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Because like he's doing it.
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: Obviously, the main goal if you're that good at golf
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: is to complete the career slamb It wouldn't It won't
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: surprise me if Rory walks away in the next year
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: or two. He's been chasing the Masters for what ten
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: years now?
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I want twice.
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: Same thing with Jordan Speed.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: He only has one more to hit, but he's played
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: like horrible the last five or six years. He's still
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: chasing that. It's one where or yeah, longer than that,
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: but it's one where. Am I expecting him to No.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: I think he'll still play, still competitory. You know, we've
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: never seen a guy like this as Tiger Woods. But
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: because he's been so outwardly forward about golf is not
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: the most important thing to me. You know, I love
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: playing golf. I played it my whole life. But my
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: family's more important. My religion, my faith is more important.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: I'm not saying I'm expecting it to happen. I'm just
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: saying that if.
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: He were to win this, you wouldn't be surprised.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: It would not be surprising if he finished out the
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: year and said, hey guys, this next season, I'm going
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: to have my retirement tour. I made enough money. I
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: want to finish off with my family. I want to
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: spend time with my family before they grow up.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Can you imagine, I mean, at thirty years old, you
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: could retire and not have to work and worry about
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: money the rest of your life. I don't think I
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: would like that. Would you enjoy retired life if you
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: started at third the age of thirty years old one hundred.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: Would you not even me busy? I would find to
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: do busy? Wow, Okay, I just I want to work.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I like working. I love working. I love what I do.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: This is now, you know. Granted they're not my normal
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: job that I did for twenty some odd years, which
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: was a grind.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: But I love what I'm doing. I was.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: I constantly want to stay busy because I think it's
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: what keeps me young is doing things that I do.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: So I just I don't know. I guess I guess
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: he would keep busy, but I just can't.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: These people that have retired at the age of fifty
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: five and never done anything the rest of their lives
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: always amazes me. It's like, don't you want to continue
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: to do something? I just don't have it in my
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: dna to do something like that.
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: Look, the day that I retire, I don't want it
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: to be at a point where like I have enough
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: money to just live, you know what I mean, Like
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: I have to stay home. Like I don't want to
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: retire until I have enough money where I can basically
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: go and do whatever I want. You know, that doesn't
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: mean go travel out of the country every month or something.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: But like I want to have enough money that I
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: I can go do stuff. I don't need, know of
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: those people that like has to rely on Social Security
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: every month that I'm barely making by. Like I want
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: to have enough money put away and secure for me
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: and my family that well, I don't have to I
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: don't have to just sit on my couch for thirty years,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: you know, Like I can go do stuff, Like I'll
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: find things to.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Do right right.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw it or not, but
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: you know, they are having the Knicks parade today for
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: the championship parade in New York City, and I think
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: it doesn't start till like ten o'clock. And people were
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: lining up, and I mean not just a few people.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: It was packed on the sidewalks at four am this morning.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: So these people have been there for five and a
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: half hours waiting for this parade to start. Do you
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: think Knicks fans have been desperate for a championship? My goodness,
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I can't imagine. First of all, I probably wouldn't go
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: to the parade if I knew that. And but I'm
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: not getting up at three three thirty to go stand
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: for hours on end to wait for these guys to
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: drive by in a parade?
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Would you be interested in that?
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: I mean, I'd be interested in the parade, not a
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: Knicks parade. Ever in my life, even if I was
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: a Knicks fan, there's people getting shot and beat up
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: after they lose games. Outside of massive court guarden, I
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: don't even want to know what's gonna happen at the parade.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: Well, did you see the video of the Spurs fan
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: that was kind of taking on all the Knicks fans?
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: Seen that video that was crazy?
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: So it's not all the Knicks fans now, there always
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: some Spurs out there, but you But I I really,
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: I really think that people are criticizing Wimby and saying
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: this is really the way he reacted during this championship
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: really hurt his image.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Do you think it has?
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: I mean maybe, I guess it depends on I think
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: it has. I guess it depends on how you take it. Like,
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: the dude is obviously upset. His motion has probably got
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: the best of them money. I've seen sure players do
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: that before, like Isaiah Stewart on on the Pistons. Lily
- 1:16:53Speaker 3: wants to fight somebody every single game we don't talk
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: about him, you know what I mean, Like just because.
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: He I was reading for the Knicks. Of course we're
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: not going to do that.
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: Like, as long as you know, I think he's fine.
- 1:17:05Speaker 3: Like the dudes obviously upset he can. I've heard worse,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: I guess that what I'm trying to say. I've seen
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: people do a lot worse than what Wemby's doing.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: I still I think if he looked back and think, uh,
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: should I have celebrated just for the conference championship?
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Maybe not.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: He should have waited to celebrate like he was and
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: have those kind of emotions for the NBA Championship.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I still look back at.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: That and it's like, man, why would you Why would
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: you be that emotional just to get into the NBA Finals,
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: not to win it. It's his dream, yeah, but it's
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: his dream to win it, not to just get in it.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: I get it, Like I feel like that's so his
- 1:17:43Speaker 3: hide and sight, Like if he would have won the finals,
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: we wouldn't even talking about it, you know what I mean.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: It's just like I think it's Jillian just because they lost.
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: Now it does look corny, Yes, I'll admit that. I
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: think it looks corny. Now, okay, that's fair, but if
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: they would have won, we would have been like, look
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: how much emotion he showed just at the Eastern Conference Finals.
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: He proved that that.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: You know, if that meant that much to him, I
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: can't even imagine what winning this finals meant to him,
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like we'd be talking, we'd
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: be saying that stuff.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: I think, yes, well, sorry, yeah, uh, Knicks fans are
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: making deer in Fox jerseys. It's this cold er kind
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: of funny.
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: I thought the year before.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: I guess last season Miles Turner was the worst NBA
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: Finals player ever. Dearon Fox was trying his hardest to
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: take that crown away from Myles Turner. I don't know
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: what that dude was doing out there half the game.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: He I mean, he single handedly lost them game four,
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: so that was the problem.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: I Game five was just as bad. He just I know, he's.
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: Coming off of an injury and you can tell he's
- 1:18:46Speaker 3: not very confident. And that's on coach Mitch Johnson for
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: playing him the way he did. He probably should have
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: gave him more restricted minutes or something. But my god,
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: you're the veteran on this team. Like there was just
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: no leadership from dearon Fox at all.
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: I was really disappointed.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: I'm disappointing for him as well, because you know, clearly
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: you play the UK and I'm rooting for the young man.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: But uh, that was that was a bit of all
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: you had to do is just dribble. That's all you
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: had to do. Just get foul, go to the free
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: throw on two free throws. But it's just crazy how
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: this happens sometimes. I I I part of me does
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: laugh that the Knicks fans are making those jerseys, but
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: part of me thinks, and man, that's just that's just
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: down right cold. I what do you think the Spurs
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: do with them? Do you think they keep deeron Fox
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: or do you think they move on from dearon Fox.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: That's a tough question because I want to say they
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: keep them because you know, it's his first ever finals,
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: everybody's first ever finals. They're gonna have the same exact
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: group going back next year, so they're gonna be a
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: favorite in the West. But they have so much young talent.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: We kind of saw this playoff run when he was
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: healthy that it's like, you know, Darren Fox, his whole
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: thing was how quick he is off the ball, his
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: quiss his how quick at first step? Is he just
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: after that injury, he just doesn't have the same jump anymore,
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: like he just you can tell he's you know, he's
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: getting kind of older now. He's not old, Bonnie means,
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: but you can tell he's slowing down just a little bit.
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: His body's not able to keep up as much. And
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: there's a lot of young talent coming through the NBA
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: right now. It would not be surprising to see if
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: they package him with something else and maybe get a
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: younger guy, maybe get it. But if they went anywhere,
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: they'd get another center out of it. They would get
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: somebody to help Luke Cornett. And now he's not getting
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: as many minutes because they don't need Dearon Foxten where
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: they got so many guards now it's almost not worth
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: to keep him. I could definitely see them trading him
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: for like a decent center.
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: Speaking of the draft, did you see where Jaden Quainton's
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: is outside the top twenty four draft picks? And he's
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: no longer in the green room for the draft. He's
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: not been invited for it. Are you surprised about that?
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: I was kind of surprised. I'm not surprised, are you not?
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: Well, I think going.
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: Into the season for Kentucky, we're all expecting him to
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: be a lottery pick. He didn't play at all during
- 1:20:52Speaker 3: the season basically when he played sixty total minutes of basketball.
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: So he's coming off of an injury. So that's a
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: red flag for coaches. One, it's either on the good
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: side of it, this is the positive way.
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: To think about it.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: It was his injury and you're thinking, Okay, his injury
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: was so bad he literally couldn't play the entirety of
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: the basketball season. He's not played a lick of basketball
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: for over a year. Now, we're gonna have to completely
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: build this dude.
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: From the ground up. We're gonna have to rehab.
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: Him as soon as he comes in. But figure that
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: all stuff out. The other side is, oh, he actually
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: wasn't hurt. He just didn't want to play for a
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: Kentucky team that was underachieving. That's another bad look on
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: you see.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean he's right there at twenty five,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: so he's just right on the outside they say, as
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: far as the predictions where he's going to go in
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: the draft, just on the outside looking in.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: It's also on the rough side of this is probably
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: the most stacked NBA draft we've had since like two
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: thousand exactly.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: But that doesn't help him at all.
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: No, not at all. So all right, we got to
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: take our last break. Got a couple of texts we're
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: going to get to and and then I want to
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: talk a little Kings because some good news coming out
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: of some of those players, which it's it's exciting to
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: hear about that kind of stuff. So stay right there.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: One more segment of Justine Cat's coming up on the
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Whiskey thief text line. You can do that one person.
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: Let me let me get to this because I'm gonna
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: say this one for last. Uh nothing but the best equipment.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: Tennis players retire in their early thirties. Amazing to think
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: that's considered over the hill for them.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: That is true.
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: You look at I'm trying to think some of the
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: greats McEnroe who played well, and I guess he did.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Did he played into his forties? It seemed like he did.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: But Arthur Ash, I think did. I can't think of
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: any others. Did Pete Sampras play into his forties? I
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: thought he did, But maybe I'm wrong.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: No idea. I don't watch tennis at all.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: I watch it. The only time I watch it is Wimbledon.
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: That's the only time I watched tennis. Any other time,
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: I don't watch anything.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: The only tennis I have consumed in the past ten
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: years of my life was the movie King Richard.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: I didn't watch that movie. Is it really? Yeah?
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: I've never seen it before. One person, OHI guy wants
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: to know. Has Doormatt picked up a particular piece of
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: jewelry for a certain type of proposal tomorrow.
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: I've had it for a couple of months.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Oh you have really? Yes?
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: Okay, all right, we can't talk about that now, but
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: we can talk about it on Monday.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Is that fair to say on Monday? Okay?
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: Speaking to jewelry. UK Volleyball received their championship rings this
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: week for thelast year's run to the championship that included
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: a regular season SEC title, SEC Tournament championship and a
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: thirty game win before losing the title game losing to
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Texas A and M, which was a bit of a bummer.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: But if you could ever have a championship ring, is
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: there one particular sport you would like to have more
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: than any other, like.
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: Just in my at my house, like I just owned
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: the ring.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Or yeah you owned the ring.
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: Yes, probably, I guess the super Bowl. I guess football.
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm the same way. Yeah, I've always wanted a
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Super Bowl ring. Everyone that last year was it Seattle?
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: Yeah, Seattle?
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: And did you see they got their rings? I think
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: it was earlier this week or last week. And it
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: was kind of a weird thing. They had the rings
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: coming down from the ceiling or wherever. Yeah, it was
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: kind of goofy. But I would won a Super Bowl ring. Yeah,
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: I think the I think they're all pretty cool. I
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: think World Series rings would probably right there on. One
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: A is Super Bowl, one B is World Series.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: I don't know. NBA Championship never really did anything for me.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: I think it'd be.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: Fun to have a n C I would probably rather
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: have an nc double A Championship ring than an NBA
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: Championship ring. And why that is, I guess because of
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: the fact that I'm more of a college basketball fane that.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I can't think of anything.
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: I don't know what the Stanley Cup that I've never
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: seen them do a big deal about Stanley Cup rings.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I think the Stanley Cup is
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: kind of the only thing you're really worried about for.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: Those Oh yeah, exactly, it is a cup. Yeah yeah.
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: But uh, what do you think of Jersey Mike's taking
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: over as the number one fast food restaurant over Chick
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: fil A?
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Do you believe it?
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: Because people are doubting it and they say, there is
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: no way that Jersey Mikes is now the number one spot.
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: If you don't think so, you haven't had Jersey Mikes.
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: Jersey Mikes is amazing, is it really?
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: And so you think it's better than Chick fil A?
- 1:26:18Speaker 4: That's the.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: I do it Mike's way, and here we are doing
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: an advertisement for him.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: But I'm with you.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: I'd love I'll probably have Jersey Mikes today for luntships
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: because of me talking about it right now. But it's
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: eleven years Chick Phila has been the top fast food
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: restaurant and they have been dethroned because of Jersey Mikes.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: And there were a lot of people really upsete. I
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: don't get the whole love for the Chick Filla brand.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: I just I honestly do not get it.
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: I mean, it's just good.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: It is okay, but you all right, which one would
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: you prefer to have Jersey Mikes?
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: Probably you would? Okay? Good?
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: Uh did you see where Florida State and Georgia will
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: play in Nashville.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: In twenty twenty eight?
- 1:27:02Speaker 4: But did not see that?
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: Other cities they.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: Were considering were Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, New Orleans, Orlando, and Tampa.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: And they picked Nashville, Tennessee for Georgia and Florida State
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: To go that far, I think it's kind of ridiculous.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: It's not really that far of a draft for Georgia fans,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: But if I was Florida State, I wouldn't be happy
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: about this. To me, you have that game either in
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: Atlanta would be basically a home game for Georgia, but
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: you have it in Miami or Orlando or Tampa or
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: something like that. But to have it in Nashville, I
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: don't get this. Are we getting to a point now
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: where we've seen it in college basketball where you're playing
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: games on neutral sites? Is this going to be the
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: I know we've done it a few times. Louisville's doing
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: it this year, playing it's old miss it down in Nashville.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Is this the new trend? Now for football.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: I mean maybe I get that, Like most of the time,
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: it's done so that both fan bases can have like
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: as a genuine neutral site, both fan bases come out.
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: For me.
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: In this situation, I'm kind of just guessing because of
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: the timeline, they just want to play in the newest
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: football stadium in the country, Like they want.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: To play That's what it is.
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: They're hosting the Super Bowl there at the same year,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: so it's like that's what I feel like this probably is.
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, uh, pretty cool to see some Louisville Kings
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: players getting a shot in the NFL. I know you
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: you saw that kicker Tanner Brown trying out for the Saints,
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: and then you got two wide receivers Lucky Jackson and
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Tarik Black are both signing with the Lions. That this
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: is where the dream comes true for them, which I like.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: So they played, they made the effort. They did play
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: a really good season playing for the Louisville Kings. Now
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: they are playing, as you're wearing your Louisville King's hat
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: right now, now they are going to be playing in
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: the NFL. That is why it's worth the effort to
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: go in playing in the UFL.
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: Yeah, and this is the this is the goal at
- 1:29:01Speaker 4: the beginning of the season.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Obviously, like I've said before, Well, we'll talk about some
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: more today and we do three man front later tonight
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: from six to six thirty.
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there you go. Nice, nice job right there.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: We'll do that.
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: We'll talk about these players as well. But this is
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: why they implemented the whole. If your players get signed
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: to a team, or they get input it in the
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: draft for some reason, this and that, all these things,
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: then the coaches get bonuses for this. They get a
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: signed bonus from from the UFL. Every player they put
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: back into the league, they get a bonus for you. Wow,
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: I don't know how much that bonus is. I can't
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: imagine it's something huge in life changing. But yeah, it's
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: to keep those you know, coaches here that keeps guys
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: like Chris Redmond want to stay at this level. If
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: he really likes developing players, this is where to do it.
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: I'm Tarique Black and Lucky Jackson and Tanner Brown, if anything,
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: there the three most deserving players on this team to
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: get into their shot. I'm surprised Cam Gill hasn't gotten
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: a phone call yet. I'm fully expecting that in this offseason.
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: I love for these guys they turn it around, especially
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: the guy like Karik Black, who really was kind of
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: non existent the first four games of the season, and
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: when they finally switched around with Challeon del Rogers, he
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: became the number one target. So to see a guy
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: go from mid season not getting very many touches to
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: signing an NFL contract with the Detroit Lions is just
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: I love it for him.
- 1:30:16Speaker 4: I'm excited.
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: But that's where the bummer is for us as Louisville
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: King fans, because now we got to start all over
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: the whole bunch. This is the part where it always
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: drove me nuts with the Louisville Bats because we're always
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: losing players. Now you got to experience that with the
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: Louisville Kings. We're always going to lose players. It's just like,
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: hopefully one day, I go back to my argument about
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: having a major league sport here in Louisville, based here
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: in Louisville, we don't have to experience this. But I'm
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: happy for them that they're getting these opportunities.
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: This is the thing about the UFL is I mean, yeah,
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: it does suck. We don't get to see him play again,
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, we probably wouldn't
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: get to see them play anyway. Because they do a
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: trire team redraft every season. You can only keep twelve
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: players from the previous team, So every especially when you're
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: the team that wins the championship, you're gonna have a
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: lot less players to pick from the next season because
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: a lot of those guys are going to get called up.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: There's still a whole summer of this, so I'm expecting
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: more players from the Kings roster. I'm expecting Corey Mayfield
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: to get a phone call. I guess that I'm exploring.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: I'm expecting Cam Gill to get a phone call.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: It just started. These are the guys that they want first.
- 1:31:23Speaker 3: Like I said, we're gonna have to understand that even
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: though they won the championship, you can't have your expectations
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: too high for next season because I have to rebuild
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: this whole team again.
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: But don't you expect Chris Redman to maybe want to
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: leave Louisville and get a shot in the NFL one
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: day or no?
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: For sure, Like if someone gives them a call, especially
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: if it's a team like the Ravens that he got
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: to win a Super Bowl with, and they say, hey,
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: we want to bring you on as a player development
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: coach or something.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: Yeah, he's gonna take that chance.
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: But I love that they're putting an emphasis on trying
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: to keep the coaches here by giving them certain, you know,
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: money incentives.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: And I had a lot of fun this season. I'm
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: excited to see where it goes.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: One person texted a twenty sixteenth World Series ring for
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: the Cubs or an eighty five Bears ring for me?
- 1:32:08Speaker 2: Clearly this guy's a Cubs and a Bears, a Chicago
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: fan in general. Easy to get some Bowl game rings.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: Lots of players sell them. They don't care about the
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: Bowl the minor bowls?
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Do they? And I don't think anybody else would either.
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: I would, unless you're just a diehard and want to
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: collect all of them for your particular team. One person,
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: this survey, this food survey must have been conducted on
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: a Sunday. Be great, great point right there, exactly, and buzz,
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: I'm trying to pull yours up, But man, this this
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: system is so slow.
- 1:32:45Speaker 4: Weapon what is that brown? Is a weapon?
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: Yeah? Absolutely so?
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: Anyway, all right, you're you and I are off tomorrow,
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: but we'll be back Monday, and uh, you know what,
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: I wish you the best of luck. Are you?
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: Are you? Are you a little nervous?
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: I'm a little nervous.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: Not because I think that she would say something that
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: I don't want her to say, right, but because I
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: just wanted to go smoothly. I want everything to go well,
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: like God forbid its storms tomorrow.
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: I'm terrified. Yes, yeah, and I get that. So but well,
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: I'll be excited to talk about it on Monday. So
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: all right, everybody have a great weekend. We'll see Monday.
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: On just the cats, i'd say it's potential and they
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: don't stop drumming that to the rules that I hit
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: the ground running. It didn't make sense.
