A beloved 14-year-old bald eagle named Jackie, who captured global hearts during her recovery at the Ojai Raptor Center, has sadly passed away despite intensive medical care. Found injured near Big Bear Lake, her condition declined despite expert intervention. Her mate, Shadow, continues raising their chicks and defending their territory. The center honored Jackie’s care with compassion and scientific integrity, calling it a privilege to serve her — while her remains are now in the custody of California Fish and Wildlife.
