- 2:54The Block Island Chamber of Commerce reported
- 2:56on social media that the whale carcass is situated
- 2:59north of Town Beach. Visitors to the area are
- 3:03urged to give the whale plenty of space and to
- 3:06avoid approaching or disturbing the site. A Facebook
- 3:10post expressed gratitude, stating, Thank you
- 3:14to everyone helping protect both our wildlife.
- 3:17and our community. For those interested, you
- 3:20can stream NBC 10 Boston News for free 24 hours
- 3:24a day, seven days a week, wherever you are. Now
- 3:32on to sports. The main focus of every National
- 3:37Hockey League draft weekend is the players hearing
- 3:39their names called, whether at the top of the
- 3:42class or at the end of the seventh round. While
- 3:46trades are completed and the foundation for future
- 3:48moves is built, it is one of the busiest times
- 3:51of the offseason. The San Jose Sharks emerged
- 3:54as winners, significantly adding to their prospect
- 3:57pool with three of the top 21 picks, including
- 4:01the second overall pick and the ninth overall
- 4:03pick. In contrast, the Seattle Kraken's reputation
- 4:07suffered when their deal for Jason Robertson
- 4:10fell apart, leaving them without the superstar
- 4:13they desperately need. The Buffalo Sabres had
- 4:16a great weekend, trading for key players and
- 4:19locking in forward Zach Benson to a long -term
- 4:22contract extension. In local sports, the Red
- 4:26Sox capped off a dominant sweep of the Yankees
- 4:29last night, winning 5 -4 behind Sonny Gray's
- 4:33brilliant 7 -1 innings of one -hit ball with
- 4:37nine strikeouts. Boston's now won four straight
- 4:40and ten of their last 13 games. Tonight, they
- 4:44host the Nationals at Fenway at 7 -10, with Ranger
- 4:49Suarez taking the mound against Miles Michaelis
- 4:52in what shapes up as a classic hitching duel.
- 4:56The Sox have real momentum heading into this
- 4:59three -game series. Meanwhile, the Celtics are
- 5:03staying active in the offseason. They just resigned
- 5:06Ron Harper Jr. to a three -year, $9 million deal.
- 5:11declining his team option to commit to the longer
- 5:14contract. The Celtics continue to ask for at
- 5:17least four first -round picks in trade discussions
- 5:20around Jalen Brown, testing the market with multiple
- 5:24teams. On the ice, the Bruins made a big move
- 5:28at the draft, acquiring winger J .J. Peterka
- 5:31from Utah by trading the 23rd overall pick at
- 5:36a 2028 first -rounder. The 24 -year -old scored
- 5:4125 goals last season and is signed through 2029
- 5:45-30 with a $7 .7 million cap hit. Development
- 5:50Camp opens today at Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton.
- 5:55In top news, how Cambodian artifacts stolen from
- 6:00temples ended up in American museums is a story
- 6:03of loss and recovery. The theft of Cambodia's
- 6:06cultural treasures, including sacred stone, bronze,
- 6:10and gold artifacts, might just be the greatest
- 6:12art heist in history. This began nearly a century
- 6:16ago during French colonization, but looting surged
- 6:20during the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, driven by a British
- 6:24man named Douglas Latchford. His gang sold stolen
- 6:28items to wealthy collectors and prestigious museums
- 6:31worldwide. Cambodia's government has spent the
- 6:35last 14 years trying to track down its stolen
- 6:38history and heritage. Yet many treasures remain
- 6:41hidden in private collections and museums. In
- 6:46business news, oil prices rose Sunday while U
- 6:50.S. stock index futures advanced after the U
- 6:53.S. and Iran continued to trade fire in the Persian
- 6:56Gulf, renewing fears that the Strait of Hormuz
- 6:59may effectively be shut again. Dow Jones Industrial
- 7:03Average futures were up 177 points, or 0 .3 %
- 7:09late Sunday. S &P 500 futures and NASDAQ 100
- 7:14futures also gained following a steep technology
- 7:17sell -off on Friday. Bitcoin was trading below
- 7:22$60 ,000, down more than 7 % over the past week.
- 7:26In crypto movement, Bitcoin has unchanged over
- 7:31the weekend. at about $60 ,000. Ethereum is up
- 7:351 .5 % to just under $1 ,600. And XRP is up 1
- 7:41.5 % to $1 .05. Moving on to a more local vibe.

- 8:24and Framingham, just be sure to tell them Sunny
- 8:28Morning sent you by. And now, back to the show.
- 8:33Let's talk tech. Streaming ads might be getting
- 8:38a lot quieter this week. A California law banning
- 8:41streaming services from showing ads louder than
- 8:44the video content that they accompany is set
- 8:47to take effect on Wednesday, July 1st. Existing
- 8:51legislation already imposes similar volume restrictions
- 8:54on broadcast and cable television commercials.
- 8:58While the volume limitations only apply to California
- 9:01for now, it seems likely that any relevant changes
- 9:04would be deployed more broadly. When the law
- 9:08was passed in 2025, its sponsor, State Senator
- 9:11Thomas Sundberg, said it was inspired by every
- 9:15exhausted parent who has struggled with loud
- 9:17ads. And in entertainment news. Channing Tatum's
- 9:24new true crime thriller, Roofman, has officially
- 9:28become the number one movie on streaming. Tatum,
- 9:32known for his range, has taken on various roles,
- 9:35including a villain in Blink Twice and a superhero
- 9:38in Deadpool and Wolverine. Despite not making
- 9:42much noise at the box office, Roofman has thrived
- 9:46on streaming, remaining in the charts for over
- 9:48170 days. The film, directed by Derek Sanfrance,
- 9:54follows former soldier Jeffrey Manchester, played
- 9:57by Tatum, who leads a double life that unravels
- 10:00when he falls for a divorced mother. The movie
- 10:03has received an 87 % rating on Rotten Tomatoes,
- 10:07showcasing Tatum's compelling performance. Well,
- 10:11alrighty folks, it's time for the quote of the
- 10:14day. And today, our quote comes from the American
- 10:18entrepreneur and inventor, Steve Jobs. And he
- 10:22said, innovation distinguishes between a leader
- 10:26and a follower, highlighting the transformative
- 10:29power of groundbreaking ideas in shaping the
- 10:32future. And that's a wrap for this morning. You
- 10:37can check out our Instagram, YouTube and TikTok
