- 0:13Speaker 1: Welcome to another episode of Eating Wild Broke. I'm your host,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Colleen Witt, and today we have very special guests. Brooklyn
- 0:19Speaker 1: Queen is in the building. Influencer podcasts are recording artists
- 0:24Speaker 1: over two hundred and sixty million collective views and growing
- 0:29Speaker 1: one point two million on YouTube, over one point well
- 0:32Speaker 1: a on Instagram, like you have cracked the cardinal code
- 0:37Speaker 1: of social media following. In addition, you've been in this
- 0:40Speaker 1: game since you were like twelve, well before twelve, I
- 0:42Speaker 1: would imagine twelve was when we started watching.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Like when I started popping on Oh.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, so you've been around for a long time.
- 0:50Speaker 1: So usually I get nervous with younger guests. I'm always like,
- 0:52Speaker 1: I don't know what this story is gonna be, but
- 0:55Speaker 1: everyone has told me, like, your story is gonna be
- 0:57Speaker 1: very very good and very very interesting as a young
- 1:02Speaker 1: person in the game. But before we get into your story,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I would love for you to tell me what you
- 1:07Speaker 1: were eating when you were in your humble beginnings.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Okay, So I always ate tacos. The family always eat tacos.
- 1:16Speaker 3: Okay, until this day, we still do because I just
- 1:19Speaker 3: feel like you can't go wrong with that. That's something
- 1:21Speaker 3: that I've learned to make when I was younger, so
- 1:23Speaker 3: I cook for my brothers and stuff like that. So
- 1:26Speaker 3: we're gonna make the Queen tacos.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Before we get into your tacos. You're from Detroit.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, they eat a lot of tacos in Detroit. I
- 1:34Speaker 3: mean my family. I'm Mexican.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Okay, you're Mexican black and white?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yes, ok so, I mean I grew up eating Mexican
- 1:43Speaker 3: food all the time. But this is just the one
- 1:45Speaker 3: that I've learned how to make.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Okay, all right, cool, Well tell me the ingredients of
- 1:50Speaker 1: these tacos.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Okay, So we're gonna do the tacos with turkey. Met Now.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I'm glad that you swapped it out because I stopped
- 1:55Speaker 3: eating ground beef tacos. I had like a really bad
- 1:59Speaker 3: experiens with something, so it was just like I can't
- 2:02Speaker 3: eat it anymore. So we got ground beef, we have
- 2:04Speaker 3: cheese flour tortillas.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And then the seasonings.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I don't eat taco seasoning, so we got garlic, powder, onion,
- 2:13Speaker 3: powdered laries, and then.
- 2:15Speaker 2: We got some sauce.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Sauce here, yes, and I have never made tackles without
- 2:20Speaker 1: using taco seasonings, so I will be learning from you,
- 2:23Speaker 1: okay if it's really good. And then you have the
- 2:25Speaker 1: flower tortillas versus corn tortillas. Yes, okay, so I'm gonna.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Learn about that too, because we're gonna fry them.
- 2:31Speaker 1: We're gonna fry them. Do you need more than one pot?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Do you have another pan?
- 2:35Speaker 1: I cook you up? Okay, okay, So take me back
- 2:38Speaker 1: to what was going on journey tackle time while you cook,
- 2:43Speaker 1: of course, okay, cook and talk, cook and talk.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Oh so you're hungry, so you're standing like her, y,
- 2:50Speaker 2: don't burn us.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Don't burn us down by the way, guys, you have
- 2:54Speaker 1: to check out her nails. They're so cute.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Okay, make sure it's turned on.
- 2:58Speaker 1: We have no insurance, so please. I make a joke
- 3:00Speaker 1: over here. But Katie, our producer, she what time we
- 3:03Speaker 1: told her the stove was hot or we didn't know
- 3:05Speaker 1: if it was hot, and she was like this, and
- 3:08Speaker 1: we was like, oh Katie, what would have happened?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna be safe,
- 3:14Speaker 2: I promise.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so we're just gonna start with the
- 3:17Speaker 1: brown and other meat. Yes, So how far back are
- 3:22Speaker 1: we gonna go with this dish? Like, are you just
- 3:24Speaker 1: going a young young, young teeny bopper baby you?
- 3:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I have been eating taco since I
- 3:33Speaker 3: can remember. Yeah, I mean growing up, my mom would
- 3:37Speaker 3: make them and it's like just the easy, easy dish
- 3:40Speaker 3: that you can make in like thirty minutes.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Is your mom Mexican?
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom's Mexican and white.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So that's right, giving and white and then your dad's black.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Okay, are they still together two parent household?
- 3:51Speaker 2: Yes, Oh they are still together. I think they've been
- 3:55Speaker 2: married for.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Eighteen years because I was already before they got married,
- 4:02Speaker 3: so yeah, it's been eighteen years.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I have four brothers.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Dang, are you the only girl?
- 4:07Speaker 2: I am?
- 4:07Speaker 1: And are you and you're the oldest?
- 4:09Speaker 2: No, I'm not. I'm like in the middle between all
- 4:11Speaker 2: of them.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Oh. The So they had a couple and then they
- 4:14Speaker 1: got married parents.
- 4:17Speaker 3: So my dad had a kid, and then my mom
- 4:21Speaker 3: had a kid, but separately. Okay, they got together, had
- 4:25Speaker 3: me my younger brother, and then I have a cousin
- 4:28Speaker 3: but I claim him as my brother.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So okay, yeah, okay, cool.
- 4:32Speaker 2: So I just feel like this is not cooking.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Is it? Because it's not high high up enough the girl. Girl. Okay,
- 4:41Speaker 1: if you touch that stove, it's cooking. It's cooking. I
- 4:43Speaker 1: promise I'll see that heat coming up.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Okay, we're just gonna leave it and let us yeah.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Let us sits. So you grew up in this beautiful
- 4:50Speaker 1: two parent household in Detroit.
- 4:52Speaker 3: Yeah, well okay, let me just break it all down
- 4:55Speaker 3: from the very beginning.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yes, please.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Basically, both of my parents are from like one of
- 4:59Speaker 3: the worst arts in Detroit, right mom, I'm from Brama
- 5:03Speaker 3: as well, but I moved out of there, like they
- 5:05Speaker 3: we moved by the time. Like all I remember really
- 5:09Speaker 3: is our new home. But like everyone thinks like, oh,
- 5:13Speaker 3: they left the hood and they're like in this glamorized
- 5:19Speaker 3: neighborhood whatever.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It was not like that.
- 5:20Speaker 3: We just got into like a little better, a little
- 5:23Speaker 3: better situation, you know what I mean.
- 5:25Speaker 2: So yeah, so we just lived life. Everyone was just.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I guess I'm gonna just call it normal because like
- 5:36Speaker 3: that's all I know.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Like it was just normal.
- 5:38Speaker 3: But like everyone's like, oh, you you got out of
- 5:43Speaker 3: the hood and like you're rich and all of this.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Like no, like we were.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Still like struggling, Like what were your parents doing for work.
- 5:50Speaker 2: My mom was a nail tech.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Oh no, she didn't do that, but she my nails
- 5:57Speaker 3: like since I was younger, Like I was freaking four
- 6:00Speaker 3: years old with like my nails and toes all stoned out,
- 6:03Speaker 3: like my mom. Really, I got to show you some
- 6:05Speaker 3: of her way because you see my nails when.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I walked in. I gotta show you, Okay, But yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 2: so she did.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Nails and she was really the one that was putting
- 6:13Speaker 3: food on the table.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I was about to say, what'd your dad do?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Well, he was just I guess you would call it
- 6:20Speaker 2: like a stead home dad.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Okay, okay, but like he would just.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Take care of the whole family because like my grandma
- 6:27Speaker 3: was sick, just like taking care of my younger sibling.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Like that's basically what he did.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Like he's really he's really like Superman for real, because
- 6:38Speaker 3: like me and my mom fast forward, me and my
- 6:41Speaker 3: mom had to like go on the road for my career,
- 6:44Speaker 3: and she just dropped her career for me.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Like, so before we get into that, how old were
- 6:50Speaker 1: you when you started showing signs of this is what
- 6:52Speaker 1: I wanted to.
- 6:54Speaker 2: I was five.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You were five? And where did this influence come from?
- 6:59Speaker 2: My parents would like just play music around me all
- 7:01Speaker 2: the time.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So I grew up listening to music all different types, okay,
- 7:06Speaker 3: Like and it's crazy, like my dad listens to country music,
- 7:10Speaker 3: or he'll listen to like hip hop or like pop,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and then my mom listened to like Biggie and Tupac
- 7:17Speaker 3: and freaking bob Ce. Like it was like a variety
- 7:21Speaker 3: of all different sounds me growing up. So like, you
- 7:24Speaker 3: play any song right now, I'm probably gonna know it, okay.
- 7:27Speaker 1: But yeah, and.
- 7:28Speaker 3: Then they would like play around in the studio because
- 7:30Speaker 3: they had like friends who did music and stuff like that.
- 7:33Speaker 3: They would play around and like make their own songs
- 7:36Speaker 3: just to listen to themselves. Like they didn't want to
- 7:38Speaker 3: become like no big time rapper, but so they would
- 7:41Speaker 3: just make songs and listen to themselves. And then I
- 7:44Speaker 3: had ended up doing a talent show in elementary school.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I was in kindergarten, and so they like wrote me
- 7:52Speaker 3: a rap for me to do, and I did the
- 7:55Speaker 3: talent show and everybody in the audience was like just
- 7:58Speaker 3: screaming my name because like there was a part of
- 8:00Speaker 3: the song and I'm like rock with Brook or something.
- 8:03Speaker 3: I don't remember the song but everyone had to like
- 8:07Speaker 3: chant my name. And once I heard that and I
- 8:09Speaker 3: was on that stage, like that was the moment that
- 8:11Speaker 3: I knew, like I need to be on a stage
- 8:13Speaker 3: for the rest of my life, Like I need to
- 8:15Speaker 3: be doing this. I love entertaining people, whether it's like
- 8:19Speaker 3: me making music or me dancing or acting or anything
- 8:22Speaker 3: or just being funny, Like I just love entertaining people.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Okay, So they start to see at five and in
- 8:29Speaker 1: elementary school that well, I'm sure they were in the
- 8:32Speaker 1: audience when that happened, right, Did they have that epiphany too,
- 8:36Speaker 1: that something was magical just happened.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I mean my mom always tells me, like, I know
- 8:42Speaker 3: you're gonna be a star. That's why my name's you, Brooklyn,
- 8:44Speaker 3: and I'm just like, okay, girl. But yeah, so she
- 8:49Speaker 3: said she always knew that I was going to be
- 8:51Speaker 3: doing something like entertainment wise, and that's what I do.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So then what's the next steps from you being experiencing that?
- 8:59Speaker 1: Are you starting to have conversation with your parents about
- 9:01Speaker 1: what you want to be when you grow up? Oh?
- 9:04Speaker 3: No, it was basically just like my mom would have
- 9:08Speaker 3: me rap in on like Instagram and stuff, okay, or
- 9:11Speaker 3: like Facebook, I.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Guess on her page. And then I had actually made
- 9:15Speaker 2: a real song when I was eight. She was like,
- 9:17Speaker 2: you want to go to the studio, and I'm like, yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 2: let's go.
- 9:21Speaker 3: So I go to studio and I make my first
- 9:23Speaker 3: song and I don't even remember what the song was.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Oh I do remember.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Actually there's a group from Detroit called Doughboy's cash Out
- 9:34Speaker 3: and my uncle was in the group and they had
- 9:36Speaker 3: like one of the biggest songs in Detroit and it's
- 9:39Speaker 3: called Goodass Day. And I remade it for my eighth
- 9:44Speaker 3: birthday party so I can perform at my own birthday party.
- 9:47Speaker 3: And so I make the song or whatever, and that
- 9:50Speaker 3: was like the first song that I had made.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Actually in the studio.
- 9:53Speaker 3: So then fast forward, that's like I make a few
- 9:57Speaker 3: other songs whatever, and then I get with the label
- 10:02Speaker 3: and because my mom like.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Did the.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Label CEO's wife's Nails, So I get with the label
- 10:08Speaker 3: or whatever, and they just invited me out to Florida
- 10:13Speaker 3: because like they were working with other artists or whatever,
- 10:16Speaker 3: and they're like, yeah, you can come and like see
- 10:18Speaker 3: what it is to be in the studio stuff like that.
- 10:21Speaker 3: So we go and I was just there like, Okay,
- 10:25Speaker 3: this is fun, like seeing other people work in the studio,
- 10:28Speaker 3: you know, like just get in the field of everything.
- 10:30Speaker 3: And so one of the artists were like fucking up
- 10:34Speaker 3: in the studio, like they just wanted to you know
- 10:36Speaker 3: what the rap game is that like old show?
- 10:39Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I think like all the kids.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So he wanted to just stop working in the studio
- 10:44Speaker 3: because one of the episodes came out and he just
- 10:46Speaker 3: wanted to watch the show. And so they were like, okay,
- 10:50Speaker 3: you can go home and watch the show.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And they called me.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Well, they called my mom and it was like two
- 10:56Speaker 3: in the morning, right, and I'm sleep and they're like this, Brook,
- 11:00Speaker 3: I want to come to the studio and make a song.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And this is I'm like eleven at the time. This
- 11:06Speaker 3: is like fast forward, and so my mom's like, well,
- 11:09Speaker 3: she's sleep, it's two in the morning, Like what do
- 11:11Speaker 3: you mean. So then they're like just ask her if
- 11:14Speaker 3: she wants to come. So she wakes me up and
- 11:16Speaker 3: she's like you want to go to the studio and
- 11:18Speaker 3: I'm like yeah, like what, like of course I want
- 11:22Speaker 3: to go to the studio.
- 11:23Speaker 2: So I go to the studio and that's when I make.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Like what great, are you in when you're eleven like
- 11:28Speaker 1: I was.
- 11:28Speaker 2: In the sixth grade? Yeah, so mind you, I was
- 11:32Speaker 2: still in school at the time and had to end
- 11:34Speaker 2: up leaving school after all of this.
- 11:36Speaker 3: But so I go into the studio and that's when
- 11:40Speaker 3: I make my first hit song.
- 11:41Speaker 1: What does your dad say when your mom's like, hey,
- 11:43Speaker 1: we're going to the studio to in the morning. Is
- 11:46Speaker 1: this while you're in Florida?
- 11:47Speaker 2: But yeah, this is It's like.
- 11:51Speaker 3: My dad really just wants to see me live my
- 11:56Speaker 3: dream and be successful, you know what I mean. Like
- 11:59Speaker 3: even though it's like I don't know anyone to this
- 12:02Speaker 3: day who's husband would let their wife go with their
- 12:07Speaker 3: daughter and just travel the world for.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, however long you know. Yeah, Like I don't think
- 12:11Speaker 2: that's a normal thing that people do. So yeah, so
- 12:14Speaker 2: we're in Florida.
- 12:15Speaker 3: I go make my first hit song and that was
- 12:18Speaker 3: called Kiki Taught Me And it's over like seventy million
- 12:21Speaker 3: views now well probably more.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I haven't checked it in a minute.
- 12:25Speaker 1: But one thing, you're still getting paid off that, or
- 12:27Speaker 1: you're getting paid off that or what you know, it's crazy.
- 12:30Speaker 3: This is this is when we get into ups and downs. Oh,
- 12:34Speaker 3: this is when we get to ups and downs. So
- 12:37Speaker 3: I make that song and make a few other songs.
- 12:39Speaker 3: They all went viral over millions of views, and then.
- 12:44Speaker 2: My mom asked me.
- 12:45Speaker 3: She's like, is this what you want to do for
- 12:46Speaker 3: the rest of your life? Like studio at two in
- 12:49Speaker 3: the morning and like all of this, And I'm like, yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 3: Like what.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Do you mean? Is this what I want to do
- 12:54Speaker 2: for the rest of my life?
- 12:55Speaker 3: Of course, because it's something I love, Like I love
- 12:57Speaker 3: making music and it's just fun to me. It doesn't
- 13:01Speaker 3: feel like a job because it's just fun. Okay, we're
- 13:04Speaker 3: about to add in the season.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Go ahead, girl. So she asked you this while you're
- 13:09Speaker 1: in Florida, like, hey, is this the life you want?
- 13:12Speaker 1: And you're like, hell yeah. Now at the time, you're
- 13:15Speaker 1: around adults. There's no kids around, so there's literally nothing
- 13:18Speaker 1: fun going on.
- 13:20Speaker 3: There was one kid who sorry, there was one all
- 13:25Speaker 3: the listeners, there was one kid and he was like
- 13:29Speaker 3: a year older than me. It's like we would do
- 13:33Speaker 3: some fun stuff, but normally it was just work, Like
- 13:36Speaker 3: we would just be working.
- 13:39Speaker 1: And it would just be you guys, adults in the studio.
- 13:42Speaker 1: That's a lot of lotteries.
- 13:43Speaker 2: No it's not I I promise that.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Guess the shame just now with them.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I promise it's not a lot.
- 13:53Speaker 1: I'm trusting you because I never cooked the tackle me
- 13:56Speaker 1: without taco seasoning, So learn teach me.
- 13:58Speaker 3: I just don't like the flavor of taco seasoning, Like
- 14:03Speaker 3: something is wrong. Yeah, like I used to eat it
- 14:05Speaker 3: with I was younger, but growing up, like I just realized,
- 14:09Speaker 3: like EO, this shit is nasty.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Then why is the taco packet sauce so important to you?
- 14:13Speaker 2: Then? Because it's the sauce, the Taco Bell sauce.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Like growing up we didn't have like we might not
- 14:21Speaker 3: have had like the guacamo lee and the lettuce and
- 14:24Speaker 3: all that.
- 14:24Speaker 2: It was just meat and cheese.
- 14:25Speaker 3: So when we would go like to Taco Bell, we
- 14:28Speaker 3: would ask for the package and we keep them in
- 14:32Speaker 3: like a drawer at the house.
- 14:33Speaker 2: To this day, we still have taco like.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Taco We hurt you with that. I'm sorry, it's okay,
- 14:39Speaker 1: it's okay, but I thought it was an interesting request.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but like the mild sauce, the hot sauce whatever.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So it's just the sauces, yes, Like okay, it's just
- 14:48Speaker 1: the sauce, not trying to derail this story. So she
- 14:51Speaker 1: comes to you. She says, hey, eleven year old ju,
- 14:53Speaker 1: is this what you want to sign up for the
- 14:55Speaker 1: rest of your life? And you say hell to the yes, Yes, okay,
- 15:01Speaker 1: So then what happens next?
- 15:03Speaker 3: So then I'm just like this kid internet sensation and
- 15:07Speaker 3: then I end.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Up going on the road, going on tour.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Ooh, back up, It wasn't that overnight, was it.
- 15:15Speaker 2: You know how they say things don't happen overnight.
- 15:18Speaker 3: This actually like when I posted my first song, like
- 15:22Speaker 3: it literally happened overnight. Like the views were just coming
- 15:25Speaker 3: in and coming in and coming in, and you know,
- 15:29Speaker 3: it was crazy because it's like all these people want
- 15:32Speaker 3: to watch me, Like, yeah, you don't. I wasn't expecting
- 15:35Speaker 3: it to happen like that fast, but it actually happened
- 15:38Speaker 3: that fast.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Now do you think your parents were prepared for that
- 15:42Speaker 1: type of turnaround?
- 15:43Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I don't think anyone was prepared, but okay, I just
- 15:48Speaker 3: think like they were like, Okay, we're just gonna put
- 15:51Speaker 3: this little girl in the studio.
- 15:52Speaker 2: We'll see what she can do. Okay, And then like
- 15:54Speaker 2: they've seen what I could do, and like just went crazy.
- 15:58Speaker 2: After that. So when I mean I went on tour.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I went on a radio run and I was just
- 16:03Speaker 3: promoting like all my songs or whatever, and then the
- 16:07Speaker 3: views just kept going and going and going.
- 16:09Speaker 2: So we're like, okay, we'll do a we'll do a tour.
- 16:13Speaker 2: I did.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Let me think, I don't know if I signed before
- 16:17Speaker 3: I went on tour.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I signed.
- 16:20Speaker 1: I'm sure someone tried to capitalize.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I signed with the label that I went down to
- 16:24Speaker 3: Florida with and then we did a rock Nation tour.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Okay.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Yeah. So I was.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Performing at the House of Blues like in Houston and Chicago,
- 16:36Speaker 3: like and all my dates were sold out, all my
- 16:39Speaker 3: tour days. Mind you, I'm twelve and all my tour
- 16:41Speaker 3: dates are like sold out. So we're like, wait, this
- 16:45Speaker 3: is kind of crazy. But whole time, I'm just like,
- 16:48Speaker 3: so that's.
- 16:48Speaker 1: What the vegetable oil was for. Okay, you teach me
- 16:50Speaker 1: how to cook, Okay, go ahead.
- 16:52Speaker 3: So whole time, I'm just like, this is just fun.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I'm traveling and I get to perform my song to
- 16:57Speaker 3: like all these little kids who loved me.
- 17:00Speaker 2: So it was just I don't know, it was normal.
- 17:02Speaker 2: It was fun.
- 17:03Speaker 3: What was the money looking like, that's where we get
- 17:06Speaker 3: into some deep shit right there.
- 17:08Speaker 1: So this is where the tip of the roller coaster
- 17:11Speaker 1: just go down.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: So and your mom is she full time at this point?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, she's a full time.
- 17:17Speaker 1: But so who's paying for everything? Because your dad is
- 17:20Speaker 1: not managing the family.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Right rather than the label was paying for it.
- 17:24Speaker 3: But the label had put me with a manager and
- 17:29Speaker 3: he was just like the worst ever. At first, it
- 17:31Speaker 3: was great, like I felt like I attached to him
- 17:35Speaker 3: and his wife like we were family whatever, and so
- 17:39Speaker 3: like the tour, going on tour, this is when like
- 17:42Speaker 3: I ended up falling out with my manager and his
- 17:45Speaker 3: wife is because he didn't want me to perform the song.
- 17:50Speaker 2: That started me like being an artist on my tour.
- 17:54Speaker 1: The one that got you over seventy million views overnight.
- 17:57Speaker 3: No no, no, no, the one I said I made for
- 17:59Speaker 3: my Okay, so mind you, I didn't. I wasn't performing
- 18:04Speaker 3: this song in any other city when I went home.
- 18:09Speaker 3: It was my birthday show on the tour. So I'm like,
- 18:12Speaker 3: let me perform my birthday song.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And you're Detroit NATed with a Detroit song, right exactly?
- 18:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, so I'm like, let me perform it.
- 18:19Speaker 3: He wouldn't perform. I mean, he wouldn't let me perform it.
- 18:21Speaker 3: He wouldn't let none of my family come backstage. He
- 18:24Speaker 3: wouldn't let my family into the venue. Like it was
- 18:27Speaker 3: really bad.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Like, I don't know.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Where how old was this guy?
- 18:31Speaker 2: He was old as hell? He was Like.
- 18:34Speaker 1: How did he get that much? Say so as a
- 18:36Speaker 1: manager though.
- 18:38Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:38Speaker 3: But mind you, my mom this is new to us,
- 18:41Speaker 3: so it's not like she knew what was going on
- 18:43Speaker 3: and like finding out after we left him, finding out like, wait,
- 18:50Speaker 3: my YouTube makes money?
- 18:52Speaker 2: Where I putting out this video that.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Got finding out? You guys didn't know.
- 18:56Speaker 2: No, we didn't know. I didn't know that YouTube made money.
- 18:59Speaker 1: So did your parents either, No, they saw all those views,
- 19:02Speaker 1: but you knew how many views it was getting. Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: so wait back up. This is the thing that scares
- 19:06Speaker 1: me about the industry right here, because people always come
- 19:09Speaker 1: up to me and my daughter and they always like,
- 19:10Speaker 1: put her in the industry, And I'm like, there's something
- 19:12Speaker 1: that goes on when you have a young kid in
- 19:14Speaker 1: the industry where at some point management or something intervenes
- 19:18Speaker 1: and they separate the parents from the child.
- 19:23Speaker 2: That's what was Like they were trying to do.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like they would be in my ear like
- 19:28Speaker 3: this is when like I'm on tour for like radio
- 19:31Speaker 3: ones and be in my ear and they'll be like yeah,
- 19:34Speaker 3: like when you start making money, like don't give any
- 19:36Speaker 3: to your mom, like that's yours, Like she shouldn't be
- 19:39Speaker 3: getting anything. They would like try to just take me
- 19:43Speaker 3: and leave my mom home, like tell my mom like
- 19:46Speaker 3: in her ear, like, oh, you need to go home,
- 19:48Speaker 3: like with your husband and your other kids, like just
- 19:50Speaker 3: leave her with us.
- 19:51Speaker 2: No, no, thank you, We're not doing that.
- 19:53Speaker 1: You did your mom say that?
- 19:56Speaker 2: Yeah? She said no for sure, Like.
- 19:58Speaker 1: There was never part a time where she release the reins.
- 20:01Speaker 2: No, my mom never left me, like since I turned.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Eighteen was the like recently the first time that my
- 20:11Speaker 3: mom didn't go with me out of town. Like now
- 20:15Speaker 3: that I'm older, I can travel you know by myself
- 20:17Speaker 3: and things like that, but like she never left my side, Okay,
- 20:20Speaker 3: and I'm glad she didn't because God knows what.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Yeah, you never know.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Let me tell you. It happens with the boys too,
- 20:33Speaker 1: but they don't tell you know. If you look at
- 20:35Speaker 1: the history of like mindless behavior, be two k.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Like when I was younger. I opened up for them
- 20:43Speaker 2: their concert.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Oh really which one mindless wer b two.
- 20:46Speaker 2: K mindless behavior.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah, whatever happened. But a lot of those kids, a
- 20:50Speaker 1: lot of bad stuff happens because the parents like aren't there.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Look at Justin Bieber happened to him, Like they just
- 20:57Speaker 1: release and let go. But I I think it happens
- 21:00Speaker 1: more so to the boys than the girls for some
- 21:03Speaker 1: shrage reason. People just I guess think the little boys
- 21:06Speaker 1: are safe, but they're usually not exactly so at this show,
- 21:10Speaker 1: is that the moment where your parents and you start
- 21:15Speaker 1: to say something's wrong with this management team, when they
- 21:17Speaker 1: start to just say they don't allow your parents to
- 21:20Speaker 1: come backstage and all that.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Yeah, what's crazy is after that show happened, we never
- 21:24Speaker 3: talked to them ever again, like ever, Like they just
- 21:27Speaker 3: cut all communication. So it's like, okay, now we have
- 21:30Speaker 3: to get into my YouTube channel and all of this
- 21:32Speaker 3: through the label. And then that's when we figure out like, oh,
- 21:36Speaker 3: I was making money whole time. My manager had put
- 21:40Speaker 3: like his bank information in and shit like that in
- 21:44Speaker 3: the back end of YouTube, so it was all going
- 21:47Speaker 3: to him.
- 21:48Speaker 1: So you actually get the log and you start to
- 21:50Speaker 1: see how much money he's making. Now at the time,
- 21:53Speaker 1: how much money were you making in comparison to how
- 21:55Speaker 1: much he was making.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I wasn't making anything.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And he but wait, when you were on tour, you
- 22:01Speaker 1: weren't making anything.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I mean, they didn't give me no money.
- 22:07Speaker 1: This man tells you, hey, what do you make money?
- 22:10Speaker 1: Don't give it to your parents? And the whole time
- 22:13Speaker 1: he had.
- 22:13Speaker 3: The whole time I was making money, but he was
- 22:16Speaker 3: taking it. Yeah, to the point like we're on we're
- 22:20Speaker 3: on the road like for tour, and I'm wondering, Like
- 22:23Speaker 3: when I first met them, you know, they were wearing
- 22:26Speaker 3: like Target outfits, Target T shirts, stopping at Target, and
- 22:30Speaker 3: now we're stopping at Chanel.
- 22:32Speaker 2: But they're leaving me and my mama in a car
- 22:33Speaker 2: while they're going into Chanelle buying bags and shit. And
- 22:35Speaker 2: I'm like, no way.
- 22:39Speaker 3: We were just you know, at Target, buying Target underwear
- 22:42Speaker 3: and now we're at Chanelle.
- 22:44Speaker 1: And are you and your mom like financially kind of
- 22:47Speaker 1: being frugal at the time to make things work because
- 22:50Speaker 1: she gave up your job or.
- 22:52Speaker 2: I mean, like we would, okay, we would.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Get like You're like, I don't like that stove.
- 22:57Speaker 2: It was not working. We would get what is it
- 23:00Speaker 2: called perms? You know what that is?
- 23:01Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, so.
- 23:04Speaker 3: It was just looking back, it's all janky. It's so
- 23:07Speaker 3: janky now that I'm realizing telling the story. We would
- 23:11Speaker 3: get per diems and I think we would get like
- 23:14Speaker 3: fifty dollars a day for like food or something. Maybe
- 23:18Speaker 3: it was one hundred whatever, but it's coming from the label,
- 23:22Speaker 3: going to my manager then coming to us.
- 23:24Speaker 2: So he would.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Pocket twenty five of the fifty off of each of
- 23:27Speaker 3: my mom, me and my mom, so then he would
- 23:31Speaker 3: so he would take that and we would only get
- 23:32Speaker 3: like twenty five dollars each to eat every day.
- 23:37Speaker 1: And I'm guessing your parents probably thought this is like
- 23:39Speaker 1: what the normal role to success is, right, Yeah, because
- 23:42Speaker 1: even though even though you are selling out shows and
- 23:46Speaker 1: have over seventy million views in millions of followers on social.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Media, yeah crazy.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So did the record label when did the record label
- 23:56Speaker 1: find out all this was happening.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Once we parted ways with the Innager? It is when
- 24:01Speaker 3: they found out because like the CEO of the label,
- 24:04Speaker 3: like he just trusted the guy and like, you know,
- 24:07Speaker 3: let him handle everything.
- 24:09Speaker 1: So it was like, so if he made all that money, right,
- 24:14Speaker 1: it's safe to assume that he made a bulk of
- 24:16Speaker 1: the money, because I'm after you hit that peek on YouTube.
- 24:20Speaker 1: The rest is like the lesser growing right of views.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I would imagine.
- 24:25Speaker 3: What do you mean, Like like he made a bulk
- 24:27Speaker 3: of the money up front said that first video had
- 24:30Speaker 3: seventy million views, Right, so he made a bulk of
- 24:34Speaker 3: the money on that video.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Right, But it still calculates money.
- 24:40Speaker 1: So you're still making money every day off that same video.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm not getting now anyway, So why girl?
- 24:46Speaker 3: Why so much?
- 24:49Speaker 1: No? How you got the counts, you got the accounts
- 24:53Speaker 1: to do what the record label say that you have
- 24:54Speaker 1: to recoup or something.
- 24:56Speaker 3: No, but I had signed to a different layer. It
- 25:01Speaker 3: was three hundred right you Entertainment in the label I
- 25:06Speaker 3: had signed to them, and like they were.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I don't even know if I could say this, but
- 25:10Speaker 2: I'm gonna.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Tell you they were taking all my money from songs
- 25:15Speaker 3: that I didn't even make with them as well. So
- 25:17Speaker 3: I have the manager, I have the manager taking money
- 25:22Speaker 3: and then the label's taken all the money.
- 25:26Speaker 2: Right, Like I'm traumatized. I don't want to sign.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I don't want to sign nothing because it's like, damn like,
- 25:32Speaker 3: everything I've signed has just went wrong on wrong.
- 25:36Speaker 1: It's just terrible. So then so then so you sign
- 25:38Speaker 1: a new deal and they're taking money off the songs
- 25:42Speaker 1: that you did not make with them.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and they were taking it for seven years.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Did you know that or did you find out after
- 25:54Speaker 1: the seven years?
- 25:56Speaker 2: No, we ended up finding out, but.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Once like I left them, they were still taking it
- 26:03Speaker 3: when they were supposed to stop.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Girls, First of all, they shouldn't have been taken it
- 26:08Speaker 1: to begin with if they didn't make the songs with you.
- 26:10Speaker 2: I know, but my manager had gave up the rights
- 26:12Speaker 2: to my song.
- 26:13Speaker 1: So the previous manager. Yeah, okay, but wouldn't they go
- 26:20Speaker 1: back to you if he gave up the rights to
- 26:22Speaker 1: the songs?
- 26:24Speaker 2: Well, this is another thing.
- 26:26Speaker 1: This is so fucked this.
- 26:29Speaker 2: This is another thing.
- 26:30Speaker 1: There's a lot of money we're talking about. We're not
- 26:32Speaker 1: talking about a little bit of money.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Yeah, he you know, like you put like your name's
- 26:37Speaker 3: down for like publishing, Yeah, on a song. Yeah, he
- 26:40Speaker 3: didn't put my name down at all, so he put
- 26:44Speaker 3: his instead as like the writer and shit.
- 26:48Speaker 1: In your original contract, did it say he could do
- 26:50Speaker 1: all this?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Girl?
- 26:52Speaker 3: I don't even remember the original contract, Like do your parents.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Do your parents ever talk about it? Because you were
- 26:58Speaker 1: very young at the time, so I understand you not knowing,
- 27:01Speaker 1: But at some point did they start to be like, hey.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Yeah, my mom started to be like, hey, what's going on?
- 27:07Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 27:08Speaker 3: Yeah, But I mean we didn't get any answers because
- 27:10Speaker 3: the CEO of the label didn't know what was going
- 27:13Speaker 3: on because he didn't handle his business.
- 27:15Speaker 2: He put it in the hands of who was managing me.
- 27:17Speaker 2: So yeah, it's crazy.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It's crazy the whole time you're working as any of this.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Does it cause you to not want to do business
- 27:27Speaker 1: with or or should not want to be in the industry.
- 27:33Speaker 3: It doesn't make me not want to be in the industry,
- 27:35Speaker 3: but it makes me just not trust people.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I wouldn't. I don't trust I wouldn't trust an adult,
- 27:42Speaker 1: to be honest.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I just don't trust nobody. I feel like everybody just
- 27:46Speaker 3: be doing me dirty.
- 27:49Speaker 1: So it's actually pretty sad to be honest.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Are you supposed to fold those in the pot? Are
- 27:57Speaker 1: you supposed to fold those like that out? Is that
- 27:59Speaker 1: how you do it at home? I fold it out? Okay,
- 28:03Speaker 1: Oh sh.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Let me not burn myself.
- 28:09Speaker 1: These look good by the way, keep making them, keep
- 28:11Speaker 1: making them. I want at least two or three of
- 28:13Speaker 1: these bad all right, So then you lose money on
- 28:17Speaker 1: the first contract with the first manager, you lose. But
- 28:21Speaker 1: at this point you do have control.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Of your YouTube. Yeah, I have control of my YouTube now.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Okay, and so all your social media, all of your
- 28:29Speaker 1: social media for sure, social.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Media for sure. Everything is me everything.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And what is your mom and your dad saying during
- 28:36Speaker 1: all of these transitions?
- 28:39Speaker 3: I my dad really like he doesn't know like the
- 28:44Speaker 3: business side for real, Like he only knows like what
- 28:48Speaker 3: we tell him basically, and like when we tell him,
- 28:50Speaker 3: he's still just like, don't understand it. But my mom,
- 28:57Speaker 3: I think he's old.
- 28:59Speaker 1: But of course all kids think their parents.
- 29:01Speaker 2: What's older or younger to you? I thought they were
- 29:03Speaker 2: one hundred, what's like older to you?
- 29:06Speaker 1: I'm just saying, were they like a older you know
- 29:10Speaker 1: how like I think DC young flock. He said his
- 29:12Speaker 1: parents were like sixty or something.
- 29:14Speaker 2: When they know my parents didn't hit sixty yet.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Okay, there's a lot to go through. And your mom
- 29:21Speaker 1: just is not really updating him, or he's just like
- 29:23Speaker 1: I don't fully understand it.
- 29:24Speaker 3: No, he just doesn't understand it. It's like we tell him,
- 29:27Speaker 3: but he just don't understand. Okay, Yeah, this story is
- 29:29Speaker 3: a long.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Do you still have a Do you have a manager currently?
- 29:32Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:33Speaker 1: You just said you don't trust people.
- 29:36Speaker 2: I don't, but we trust her.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I trust her with my life actually.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Really Yeah, Okay, shout out to the manager. I know
- 29:47Speaker 1: you're in the building, but damn these stories are very traumatic.
- 29:52Speaker 2: So but my mom is also my manager as well.
- 29:54Speaker 2: She's a monitor.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Yes, so I tellt what your mom. She was very polite,
- 29:57Speaker 1: very nice, she knew your stuff.
- 30:00Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah she's okay.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So you have like two managers. Yeah, okay.
- 30:05Speaker 3: I just feel like my mom will always be a
- 30:07Speaker 3: part of like managing me, just because she's been there
- 30:11Speaker 3: for so long, know what I've gone through, and she's
- 30:13Speaker 3: my mom.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Like no one is gonna have like.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Have my back as much as her, course, you know,
- 30:21Speaker 3: because she's my mom. Like that's just how it is.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah, she believes you from day one and always asked
- 30:27Speaker 1: you if this is what you want to do, then
- 30:29Speaker 1: she rode with it.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Yeah, So how who supports your family?
- 30:32Speaker 2: Now?
- 30:34Speaker 1: What do you mean, like, is your mom back working?
- 30:37Speaker 3: She's not back working? Well she is working because she
- 30:41Speaker 3: works for me. Yeah yeah, but yeah her and my
- 30:44Speaker 3: daughter back at home.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Now, okay, so are you is I don't want to
- 30:49Speaker 1: be as delicate as humanly possible with you, Brooklyn, But
- 30:52Speaker 1: would you say that technically you are.
- 30:56Speaker 2: The taking care of the family.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, And how do you feel about that?
- 31:02Speaker 2: I mean, it doesn't bother me.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Does it ever feel stressful?
- 31:07Speaker 2: Yes? For sure?
- 31:08Speaker 1: Do you feel like I feel like.
- 31:09Speaker 3: It's like I don't have no kids and I gotta
- 31:12Speaker 3: work like I got six kids, you know.
- 31:13Speaker 1: What I mean.
- 31:14Speaker 3: But I would do anything for my family of course,
- 31:18Speaker 3: like the clothes off my back, they can have it,
- 31:20Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 31:21Speaker 2: So, like, and I know where I'm going. I feel
- 31:25Speaker 2: like I.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Know where I'm going to be in the next let's
- 31:28Speaker 3: say two years or five years whatever, Like I know
- 31:31Speaker 3: that I'm going to be in a great situation. So
- 31:36Speaker 3: I mean, I would be taking care of my family
- 31:37Speaker 3: for the rest of my life if I could, Like
- 31:39Speaker 3: if nobody wanted to do anything and just sit on
- 31:43Speaker 3: their ass, even though like y'all, like I'm talking to.
- 31:47Speaker 2: The little brothers, get on your shit, but like.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I would still take care of y'all, Like we talk
- 31:52Speaker 3: all the time, and they're like, Brooklyn, when you get
- 31:54Speaker 3: like a mansion whatever, we're going to be over there.
- 31:56Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh, that's fine, but what are you
- 31:58Speaker 2: gonna do with like what do you want to be?
- 32:00Speaker 1: You know, like, yeah, because there's a there's a especially
- 32:02Speaker 1: when they're that young or younger, you know, there's that
- 32:05Speaker 1: thin line where you become an enabler, and that enabler
- 32:10Speaker 1: residual effect is a lot more painful than you could imagine,
- 32:14Speaker 1: you know, because that's a lot of pressure as a
- 32:16Speaker 1: as a young person, because you're also pursuing your dreams
- 32:19Speaker 1: in an industry that's very fick on. So would you say,
- 32:22Speaker 1: you're you're all the smoky your business documents, we go
- 32:29Speaker 1: smoke it out.
- 32:30Speaker 2: How is it about thirty sway?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Okay, that's good. You made enough tackles to feed us.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well you say you want to like two or three,
- 32:36Speaker 2: but when you try.
- 32:37Speaker 1: To what's the day in the life of you right now?
- 32:41Speaker 2: A day in the life of me right now? Well
- 32:43Speaker 2: we're in La right now.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Yeah, and I had to come out here to film
- 32:49Speaker 3: my podcast Girl Talk.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Sure, I go check it and drop what girl Talk
- 32:54Speaker 1: talks about.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Girl Talk is basically.
- 33:01Speaker 3: When you watch it, you just feel like you're there
- 33:03Speaker 3: with us talking about We literally talk about everything everything
- 33:07Speaker 3: you can imagine when it comes to boys, it comes
- 33:09Speaker 3: to parents, periods, like deep conversations like we just did
- 33:15Speaker 3: an episode called Losing People, and you know, we're just
- 33:19Speaker 3: talking about like people that we've lost in our life
- 33:21Speaker 3: and stuff like that. We it's just like a wide
- 33:25Speaker 3: variety of like everything, any topic you can think of,
- 33:28Speaker 3: we talk about it.
- 33:30Speaker 1: I know you guys also talk about mental health, we do.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Are you familiar with Alicia Bernie rest in Peace? No.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Alicia Bernie. She was on our show. She was a
- 33:40Speaker 1: young influencer, started around the same age as you. She
- 33:43Speaker 1: just recently passed from like an asthma attack.
- 33:46Speaker 2: What.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I don't even know if I should talk about this,
- 33:48Speaker 1: but one of the things that I noticed when she
- 33:51Speaker 1: was on our show is she talked about how being
- 33:56Speaker 1: an influencer, she was very lonely. It was something that
- 33:59Speaker 1: she actually was like there are times around very lonely
- 34:04Speaker 1: or I feel alone. And she also had a lot
- 34:07Speaker 1: of the same responsibilities as you. She passed way too young,
- 34:10Speaker 1: but that was something that was like an underlying. If
- 34:13Speaker 1: you watch the episode, you'd see like it was a
- 34:15Speaker 1: very personal thing that she was constantly dealing with even
- 34:18Speaker 1: when she came it came to dating. She says she
- 34:21Speaker 1: couldn't trust if dudes were with her because of that.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Or because of who she is. Yeah, I understand that
- 34:26Speaker 2: for sure.
- 34:28Speaker 1: That's crazy though, which side the dudes or just being
- 34:32Speaker 1: like semi alone or lonely.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I thank god I don't ever feel like I'm alone
- 34:40Speaker 3: because I have a really good, like support system.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I have a lot of good.
- 34:44Speaker 3: People around me when it comes to I won't even
- 34:49Speaker 3: say just guys, but just people in general. You never
- 34:52Speaker 3: know if somebody's coming into your life genuinely because they
- 34:56Speaker 3: just want to be cool with you and they like
- 34:58Speaker 3: you as a person, or if they're coming in your
- 35:00Speaker 3: life because they can.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Benefit off of you in some type of way.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and I've experienced that so many times.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Like it, whether it's someone trying to talk to me
- 35:11Speaker 3: or someone trying to be my best friend, they just
- 35:15Speaker 3: want to eat off of you, and you don't realize
- 35:17Speaker 3: it because at the time it's like, oh, like this
- 35:19Speaker 3: is my best tee, Like we're doing everything together, Like
- 35:21Speaker 3: I love you whatever, but then they do some crazy
- 35:25Speaker 3: shit to you and it's like, damn.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Like you were never genuine.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I saw a clip online, oh, snap of me. I
- 35:33Speaker 1: saw a clip online. Oh my god. You were talking
- 35:36Speaker 1: about something to the likes of like you were dating
- 35:39Speaker 1: a guy, a young man that cheated on you. And
- 35:42Speaker 1: I think you said in the clips matter of fact,
- 35:45Speaker 1: you finish it, but he cheated on you a lot. Okay, right,
- 35:49Speaker 1: And did you say I want to say this, please
- 35:52Speaker 1: don't embarrass me if I said this wrong, But I
- 35:55Speaker 1: think you said, like your friend hooked up with him
- 35:58Speaker 1: in your bed. Yeah, yes, that's a traumatic experience, is
- 36:06Speaker 1: it was crazy? How did you find out? You didn't
- 36:08Speaker 1: like walk in and see that? Right?
- 36:10Speaker 3: No, if I would have walked in, I would have
- 36:14Speaker 3: Oh my god, I don't know what I would have done.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I don't know what someone would do in that situation.
- 36:20Speaker 2: That's like because betrayal, No, for sure, it's it was crazy.
- 36:26Speaker 1: That's the best friend for how long?
- 36:28Speaker 2: I want to say, like.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Maybe like a year or like she wasn't like childhood
- 36:34Speaker 3: best friend, but like everyone on social media just labeled
- 36:37Speaker 3: us as best friends, and like it was slowly becoming
- 36:40Speaker 3: that because we were like she lived with me.
- 36:42Speaker 2: It was like we were around each other at the time.
- 36:44Speaker 3: But previously to that, we came I met her through
- 36:46Speaker 3: someone that I don't really mess with, and that like
- 36:50Speaker 3: got mad that we were friends, and then like we
- 36:53Speaker 3: started beefing with them to the point like we were
- 36:55Speaker 3: making distracks and stuff like that.
- 36:56Speaker 2: But anyway, we're not gonna talk about him.
- 36:59Speaker 3: So, like we go back to Detroit for I think
- 37:03Speaker 3: it was we went back to Detroit for his birthday
- 37:07Speaker 3: ex boyfriend. Okay, I went back for his birthday. When
- 37:10Speaker 3: you said she was with you, she came with me, Okay,
- 37:13Speaker 3: so she knows, like, okay, this is I mean, we
- 37:17Speaker 3: weren't dating at the time, but like that was my ex,
- 37:19Speaker 3: my first love, my first everything.
- 37:21Speaker 1: So it usually means off limits, yeah, anytime if it's
- 37:26Speaker 1: an ex boyfriend not talking about I mean, some people
- 37:30Speaker 1: share casualties, but if it has that label of like boyfriend, husband, fiance,
- 37:35Speaker 1: it's usually typically a no fly zone.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Yeah, off limits for sure. So then like Sinkle to
- 37:40Speaker 2: Mile comes and she was about to go home. I
- 37:42Speaker 2: should have just let the bitch go home, Oh my god,
- 37:45Speaker 2: but I'm like, no, you should stay, like it's Sinkle
- 37:47Speaker 2: to Mayo like we're my family's Mexican, Like we're.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Gonna eat tacos and people a gonna be drinking tequila, Like, yeah,
- 37:53Speaker 3: you should stay.
- 37:55Speaker 2: She ends up staying and Sinkle to my O. Night.
- 37:59Speaker 3: I got into it with the boyfriend because he was
- 38:02Speaker 3: texting a girl in my house and I'm like, how
- 38:06Speaker 3: are you going to be sitting next to me texting somebody?
- 38:08Speaker 2: Like what are you done?
- 38:10Speaker 3: So he was texting the girl whatever, and we got
- 38:12Speaker 3: into it. And when I let my best friend at
- 38:16Speaker 3: the time stay in my room because like, you know,
- 38:20Speaker 3: like you can have your privacy whatever, you can have
- 38:21Speaker 3: my room. So I was laying on the couch and
- 38:26Speaker 3: when I was sleep on the couch is when the
- 38:28Speaker 3: whole thing happened. Mind you, there's a wall between me
- 38:31Speaker 3: and the in my bedroom. So I'm sleeping on the
- 38:35Speaker 3: couch and I wake up to him crying in my
- 38:36Speaker 3: face and.
- 38:37Speaker 1: I'm just crying in your face.
- 38:38Speaker 3: Yes, on his knees, like boohooing, And I'm just sitting
- 38:41Speaker 3: there like I'm thinking he's crying because I just cussed
- 38:45Speaker 3: him out over the girl texting.
- 38:47Speaker 2: The whole time he was crying.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Because he knows that he just did something terrible, right,
- 38:54Speaker 3: I don't find out until two weeks later. The girl
- 38:56Speaker 3: comes to.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Me and Sae, you didn't find out till two weeks later.
- 38:58Speaker 1: You didn't ask Hi why he was crying.
- 39:00Speaker 3: Because I didn't care, Like, yeah, like, you're not about
- 39:03Speaker 3: to talk to you, but I'm not talking.
- 39:05Speaker 2: To I don't care. You didn't care what I was crying.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Know what he was crying about? So then what do
- 39:11Speaker 1: you mean you found out two weeks later what happened.
- 39:13Speaker 3: The girl had ended up telling me when we were
- 39:15Speaker 3: out back in l a and she was like, I
- 39:18Speaker 3: have to tell you something.
- 39:18Speaker 2: You're gonna be mad. I'm like, what, Like, why am
- 39:21Speaker 2: I gonna be mad? She was like, you know, like
- 39:25Speaker 2: it involves someone you love, and I'm just thinking.
- 39:28Speaker 3: I'm thinking in the back of my head, like who
- 39:30Speaker 3: is she? What is she about to say to me
- 39:31Speaker 3: right now? But then she flips the story. I'm not
- 39:35Speaker 3: gonna say.
- 39:35Speaker 2: She flips the story.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Her side of the story is that he came in
- 39:39Speaker 3: the room and sexually assaulted her and put his private
- 39:43Speaker 3: areas in her mouth. Mind you, she has braces. There's
- 39:46Speaker 3: no way that somebody can just yeah, you're sleeping. There's
- 39:50Speaker 3: she's sleeping, is what she says.
- 39:52Speaker 2: And I'm like what.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I was so depressed, so bad, like throwing up every day,
- 39:57Speaker 3: like start like I'm the victim.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, So when do you find out the truth?
- 40:02Speaker 3: When I go back to Detroit and he knocks on
- 40:03Speaker 3: my door and two in the morning and he tells
- 40:05Speaker 3: me like, no, this is what actually happened.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Did she come on to him? I'm just genuinely.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Curious, of course, Right, yes she did.
- 40:13Speaker 1: She's fired officially, Right, she's officially fired and banned from
- 40:16Speaker 1: the club.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Right, Yes, she's gone.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Okay, I would never be able to sign another contract again.
- 40:21Speaker 1: We're in the age where you can like do everything
- 40:25Speaker 1: independently now, yeah, so are you leaning more towards independent now?
- 40:31Speaker 2: Yes?
- 40:32Speaker 3: I'm not signing nothing unless it's life changing. Like, I'm
- 40:37Speaker 3: not gonna sign anything unless I'm gonna be straight for
- 40:42Speaker 3: the rest of my life and my grandkid's grandkids.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Are gonna be straight for the rest of your life.
- 40:45Speaker 1: You know, how do you screen people for dating? Now
- 40:57Speaker 1: you're dating, you're in another relationship, art.
- 40:58Speaker 2: You hold on, hold on, I know I'm not, I
- 41:02Speaker 2: am not, I am not.
- 41:03Speaker 1: You better not be. I feel like if I were
- 41:06Speaker 1: to date again, I would need do you know how
- 41:08Speaker 1: when you go? Well, you wouldn't know because you've been
- 41:10Speaker 1: successful since you were a teeny bopper, But I would.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I would at least do reference checks, like you'd have
- 41:18Speaker 1: to give me a couple of ex girlfriends numbers. I'm sorry, buddy.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Oh no, that's crazy.
- 41:23Speaker 1: You're no, I'm totally after everything you've been through. No, nah, bro,
- 41:29Speaker 1: we had to do some kind of background checks. Is
- 41:32Speaker 1: that toxic or is that being extra cautious?
- 41:35Speaker 2: I think that's crazy you do.
- 41:37Speaker 1: No, I haven't done it. I'm still married.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Oh how long have you been married?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Long enough to know that marriage is no? Long enough
- 41:45Speaker 1: to know that don't do it?
- 41:46Speaker 2: Ladies? Okay, so don't get married? Can I see this? Also?
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah? See see? You're making me sound like a what
- 41:53Speaker 1: is it, a pestimist? A pessimist person. So you're out
- 41:55Speaker 1: there dating? Okay? Cool? You trust the world again? No?
- 41:58Speaker 3: No, no, no, that doesn't mean that I don't trust everybody
- 42:02Speaker 3: like you know.
- 42:04Speaker 2: It's just like they thank you.
- 42:09Speaker 3: I've dated since that relationship okay, which I got cheated
- 42:12Speaker 3: on too, But like everybody, I talk like it cheated on.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe I'm the problem. No, no, you're not. You
- 42:17Speaker 1: know what, I'll tell you something I had to learn
- 42:19Speaker 1: because my husband cheated.
- 42:21Speaker 2: He cheated like nobody's business.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Huh.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Why'd you stay like.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I'm I'm a little No, I'm I no. No. If anything,
- 42:31Speaker 1: I advise the younger you are, the least you should
- 42:33Speaker 1: put up with. But I stayed because I you know,
- 42:36Speaker 1: I have a daughter, and I believe in the old
- 42:39Speaker 1: school family things. Well not that, and I do love them,
- 42:44Speaker 1: but I do realize that like when people cheat, it's
- 42:46Speaker 1: usually them, not you, because the women always think it's
- 42:49Speaker 1: like maybe the girls better or maybe I did something,
- 42:52Speaker 1: or maybe I wasn't. Most people that cheat are usually
- 42:55Speaker 1: serial cheaters. And even if they are serial cheaters, it's
- 42:59Speaker 1: up to them to change on their own time and
- 43:01Speaker 1: on a cord if they ever. Do you know, there's
- 43:04Speaker 1: no perfect you can ever make a cheat or not cheat.
- 43:07Speaker 1: You know, I just think allmend cheat. What does your
- 43:10Speaker 1: dad say?
- 43:13Speaker 2: What about cheating? Yeah, I don't think he's ever. He's
- 43:16Speaker 2: never cheated on my.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Mom, But what what does he say.
- 43:19Speaker 2: Like when I get cheated on?
- 43:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 43:21Speaker 2: Oh I don't even you.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Don't talk to him about it.
- 43:24Speaker 3: No, why my dad will go beat somebody up back
- 43:27Speaker 3: and I still love you.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I don't want you to give me up.
- 43:29Speaker 1: That's hilarious. All right here? Why you only take take
- 43:32Speaker 1: one taco?
- 43:34Speaker 2: What could I make sure it's good?
- 43:36Speaker 1: Okay, let's see these tacos and your place. It's smoking
- 43:41Speaker 1: in here. Okay, guys, look at these good tacos. She
- 43:44Speaker 1: hooked me up.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Good trench baby tacos.
- 43:46Speaker 1: There we go, all right, and we got the hug drinks.
- 43:49Speaker 1: I'm going to force Brooklyn to drink some of this. Brooklyn.
- 43:53Speaker 1: By the way, I love your chain, like I need
- 43:55Speaker 1: that chain, the Brooklyn chain. It's so nice. I want
- 44:00Speaker 1: to get one with my name. I'll let you know
- 44:02Speaker 1: the jeweler, let me know, let me know. All right,
- 44:05Speaker 1: here we go. Let's see cheers.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Way we gotta do cheers? Cheers?
- 44:09Speaker 1: Oh you could? They have the little puffiness and them.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I love that. Oh my god.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Mm hmmm.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I'm never gonna eat corn tortilla's again. It's like it's perfect.
- 44:30Speaker 1: So you put a lot of oil in it. You
- 44:32Speaker 1: know what? These are good with tacos? You She was
- 44:36Speaker 1: hanging on her own drink.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Listen, I used to drink these when I was little, Like,
- 44:39Speaker 3: this will not be my choice of drink today, but.
- 44:46Speaker 2: You know that's where I grew up. One.
- 44:48Speaker 1: These taco shells are amazing.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Yes, because my Mexican's are like, comeing out.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Do you just do only vegetabil Do you do butter too?
- 44:59Speaker 2: Just vegetables?
- 45:00Speaker 1: Why?
- 45:02Speaker 2: I don't know. That's just how I learned how to
- 45:03Speaker 2: do it.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Okay, you're too good. I'm so glad you made a bunch. Okay,
- 45:11Speaker 1: all right, so now we know broken good cook and
- 45:15Speaker 1: she's still optimistic. I do think I think to go
- 45:21Speaker 1: kind of what you said. I do think that a
- 45:23Speaker 1: good percentage of men cheat, But I do think there's
- 45:27Speaker 1: some people that don't.
- 45:29Speaker 2: No, yeah for sure. But everyone I've dealt with cheated,
- 45:32Speaker 2: So that's why I think that.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Well, so let's talk about your career. Okay, so what's
- 45:40Speaker 1: on your goal list for your career? Chuckles are so
- 45:43Speaker 1: good at home, I'm gonna take an eat break.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Yeah, let's just let's just.
- 45:52Speaker 1: No one does it like that, because the way you
- 45:55Speaker 1: did it was like a puffy pastry type. Is that
- 45:58Speaker 1: how your mom does it?
- 46:00Speaker 2: Yeah? Well, I learned from my aunt. That's the way
- 46:04Speaker 2: to do it.
- 46:04Speaker 1: I've seen people like lightly do it on each side,
- 46:08Speaker 1: but I did not know you can get that like
- 46:09Speaker 1: puffy pastry type. It's so good. Is that that must
- 46:13Speaker 1: be how they make chilupa's then.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Right, yeah? Or like you know what the toastata is.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Yeah, like we'll we'll make a toastada like that as well,
- 46:22Speaker 3: Like we'll just fry it a little bit hard, don't
- 46:23Speaker 3: fold it, and then like put the beans, the meat
- 46:26Speaker 3: and like all.
- 46:26Speaker 1: The topics the oh that's a bowl.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Oh yeah, like the taco shell.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Yeah, let me tell you something best, hands down, I'm
- 46:37Speaker 1: gonna make tacos like this, probably send some pictures online.
- 46:41Speaker 1: You have to have you ever done that with eggs
- 46:43Speaker 1: and like breakfast?
- 46:45Speaker 3: Actually I have, but I made it like a toastarle
- 46:47Speaker 3: like it was flat, and then I would fry the
- 46:51Speaker 3: tortilla and then put it just leave it in the pan,
- 46:55Speaker 3: crack the egg on top and fry the egg so
- 46:57Speaker 3: it like sticks the tortilla, and then put like avocado
- 47:00Speaker 3: and tomato so and peppery.
- 47:02Speaker 2: That I'm doing that, Oh and some lime juice with
- 47:05Speaker 2: lime juice. Yes, really, yes, it's so good.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Do you keep the egg running or firm.
- 47:11Speaker 2: I guess it just depends on my mood.
- 47:13Speaker 1: So you don't flip it though. You don't flip the
- 47:16Speaker 1: tortilla over.
- 47:17Speaker 3: No, I just would like take a spoon and like
- 47:20Speaker 3: get the oil and like splash it on the egg
- 47:22Speaker 3: to cook the top of the egg.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, I got it. Yeah, But if you want
- 47:26Speaker 1: it flat, the tortilla down, fry it and then put
- 47:29Speaker 1: the egg on after I fried both slides and then
- 47:31Speaker 1: let it cook on the pot. Yeah, avocado, seasoning, avocado
- 47:35Speaker 1: and a little bit of lemon.
- 47:36Speaker 3: That sounds amazing, amazing.
- 47:39Speaker 2: Okay, So you would cook, okay, bro, I am a chef.
- 47:42Speaker 1: One of the things I do want to talk about
- 47:43Speaker 1: is I I have gone.
- 47:45Speaker 3: To Detroit, Okay, and Detroit is why were you there
- 47:48Speaker 3: first before?
- 47:49Speaker 2: Because I told you to hoby Okay, okay, okay.
- 47:52Speaker 1: So when I go to Detroit, it's you know, if
- 47:55Speaker 1: I'm from New York, I live in LA. It used
- 47:58Speaker 1: to big cities, a lot of progress. When I go
- 48:00Speaker 1: to Detroit, it's always conflicting emotions for me because it's
- 48:03Speaker 1: like house bomb, bomb, house, bomb, neighborhood bomb, bomb, bomb.
- 48:09Speaker 2: House, what do you mean bomb?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Meaning like a house that's been abandoned. Oh okay, And I
- 48:15Speaker 1: always wonder, like how strong you have to be to
- 48:18Speaker 1: get past that type of environment, like to look past it.
- 48:23Speaker 3: So where my mom grew up, it was like a
- 48:27Speaker 3: little house on Stout, you know, it's the name of
- 48:30Speaker 3: the street. And back in the day there was like
- 48:34Speaker 3: all houses. Now if we drive.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Through there, if I took you, it would just look
- 48:37Speaker 2: like a field of grass and then a house and
- 48:40Speaker 2: then a field, like all the houses are burned down,
- 48:42Speaker 2: like gone, you know what I mean. My dad he
- 48:46Speaker 2: grew up on like the better side of the hood,
- 48:48Speaker 2: so where it was like the all nice brick houses
- 48:51Speaker 2: and stuff like that.
- 48:52Speaker 3: But like I I wasn't there enough to really experience that,
- 49:00Speaker 3: like the bandit houses.
- 49:02Speaker 1: But even in the nice state neighborhoods, so like I've
- 49:04Speaker 1: been to like Indian Head Village or I don't know
- 49:07Speaker 1: if you know where that is. It's like where it's
- 49:09Speaker 1: like a nice it's I think, I don't know, but
- 49:12Speaker 1: it's like it's like a bunch of nice houses, maybe
- 49:15Speaker 1: like three good blocks, and then outside of those three
- 49:18Speaker 1: good blocks it looks kind of crazy. Yeah, are you
- 49:22Speaker 1: saying that where you lived in Detroit. You didn't see
- 49:25Speaker 1: the house field.
- 49:28Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I mean I see it now like when
- 49:30Speaker 3: I ride through or like you go over there, But
- 49:33Speaker 3: where I live.
- 49:34Speaker 1: It's not It's not like that I need to go
- 49:36Speaker 1: where you live.
- 49:38Speaker 2: I'm trying to tell you the west side, the west Side.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna go.
- 49:40Speaker 3: The west side is the best side, like no, no tin,
- 49:44Speaker 3: no shade, like the east side. Y'all are just the
- 49:46Speaker 3: east side. I always say east side people like not
- 49:49Speaker 3: even just the people, just east side in Gymeral's just dirty.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Okay, there's there a lot of people commenting on this.
- 49:56Speaker 2: No, and I say this all the time.
- 49:58Speaker 1: It's like.
- 50:00Speaker 2: The west side is just better, like we are just that.
- 50:04Speaker 3: But let somebody from anywhere else, like not in Michigan.
- 50:09Speaker 3: Let somebody from anywhere else say anything about the west Side.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Then the east Side and the west we come together. Okay,
- 50:15Speaker 3: let y'all say some about the east Side. We're gonna
- 50:16Speaker 3: come together. So when it comes to Detroit, we joined forces.
- 50:21Speaker 3: But when it's in Detroit, like we're like, no, the
- 50:24Speaker 3: west side.
- 50:25Speaker 2: I just think the west side is better. I gotta
- 50:26Speaker 2: take you over there.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Well, there's a lot of great things that come out
- 50:29Speaker 1: of Detroit. Okay, there's a lot of great entrepreneurs that
- 50:31Speaker 1: come out of Detroit. We've met a lot of great
- 50:33Speaker 1: people out of Detroit.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Go on back to this new documentary on Netflix call
- 50:38Speaker 1: what is it called Bad Influence something. When you're a
- 50:43Speaker 1: young influencer, did you feel a lot of pressure to
- 50:45Speaker 1: post all the time and to constantly drop content all
- 50:48Speaker 1: the time? Was there like a hidden pressure there?
- 50:52Speaker 2: No, because I enjoyed it.
- 50:54Speaker 3: It didn't feel like, oh, you gotta post this, you
- 50:58Speaker 3: gotta do this, you gotta do that, because I just
- 51:01Speaker 3: like to post and give people what they want to see.
- 51:04Speaker 3: So for me, it wasn't really that of course, like
- 51:08Speaker 3: my mom would be like, you didn't post your TikTok like.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Till this day, my mom, I'm probably.
- 51:12Speaker 3: A text on my phone right now, like why didn't
- 51:13Speaker 3: you post TikTok yet? But it's like, now it's my job,
- 51:17Speaker 3: like I have to post TikTok even though I still
- 51:20Speaker 3: enjoy it.
- 51:21Speaker 2: You know, it's just work now, you know.
- 51:23Speaker 1: Yeah, So you do you scroll on social media the
- 51:27Speaker 1: way people that aren't influencers scroll on media or social media?
- 51:32Speaker 1: Are you just looking to see what the responses are.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Oh no, I'm on there like twenty four seven.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Really, Like, if we're just hanging out like normal day,
- 51:41Speaker 3: you're gonna see me on my phone scrolling both phones
- 51:43Speaker 3: in the hand, scrolling.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Why do you have two phones?
- 51:45Speaker 3: Because I have recently just got a new one, but
- 51:47Speaker 3: like I still have all my old stuff on the
- 51:50Speaker 3: other phone.
- 51:50Speaker 1: So like, you know, I get a chance to have.
- 51:53Speaker 2: I mean I did, but like I don't want to
- 51:55Speaker 2: give rid of my phone.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I'm never I never give out. You know what I
- 52:00Speaker 1: do is I'll buy a new phone, I'll tell them
- 52:02Speaker 1: to transfer it, and then I take my old phone
- 52:04Speaker 1: and I keep the boxes of all the old phones.
- 52:06Speaker 1: It sounds weird, and I just put it back in
- 52:08Speaker 1: the box and I just shelve it because sometimes I
- 52:11Speaker 1: have like contacts in an old phone and they never
- 52:13Speaker 1: transfer them over or videos or pictures, so I just
- 52:16Speaker 1: keep the old phone. I have like a little museum
- 52:19Speaker 1: of phones in my house. It's like a little cabinet
- 52:21Speaker 1: that just has like a million phones.
- 52:23Speaker 2: That sounds like hoarding, though it's not because.
- 52:25Speaker 1: The phones are like this big. They're like this big.
- 52:29Speaker 1: But wait, you walk around with two phones?
- 52:32Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I need it.
- 52:34Speaker 1: No, you said, you don't.
- 52:37Speaker 2: What I need both of them, and then like, how.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Am I hoard when you need two phones and you
- 52:42Speaker 1: only one person?
- 52:43Speaker 3: Because I'm not keeping the phone and just leaving them
- 52:45Speaker 3: in a box, I'm actually using them.
- 52:50Speaker 1: You are nineteen now, Yeah, you've had at least five phones? Okay? Yeah,
- 52:54Speaker 1: so where are you put in other phones?
- 52:56Speaker 3: I would like give them to my brother and he
- 52:58Speaker 3: would like get his phone turned on. And at the
- 53:01Speaker 3: ex boyfriend who cheated on me with my best friend,
- 53:03Speaker 3: he didn't have a phone because he was from the
- 53:05Speaker 3: east Side.
- 53:05Speaker 2: And broke and I had to give him a phone.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it was chanting on me with the phone that
- 53:12Speaker 3: I gave him. Like what that's that's typical.
- 53:15Speaker 2: That's typical.
- 53:16Speaker 1: He's from the east Side. Yes see, maybe it's the
- 53:19Speaker 1: east side.
- 53:19Speaker 2: The Troy is the east Side thing.
- 53:21Speaker 1: I'm trying to It's really Easide Okay, okay, So what
- 53:25Speaker 1: other things do you have going on that we should
- 53:27Speaker 1: be looking forward to? Brooklyn?
- 53:29Speaker 3: Well girl talk of course we drop every Wednesday every
- 53:33Speaker 3: week every Wednesday?
- 53:35Speaker 1: Are you independent? Are you signed to iHeart or anybody nowhere?
- 53:38Speaker 2: Are you talking about?
- 53:39Speaker 1: Like the whole podcast we're with W M. E. After
- 53:44Speaker 1: everything that happened, do you feel like you're more trench
- 53:47Speaker 1: starting to pay attention to the business side of course, Like.
- 53:50Speaker 3: I am getting older and want to know, like the
- 53:54Speaker 3: business behind everything. Like I want to be looking at
- 53:57Speaker 3: the contracts even though I might not understand everything in it,
- 53:59Speaker 3: but it's good for me to read it and try
- 54:02Speaker 3: to understand. And if I don't understand, go look it
- 54:04Speaker 3: up to figure out what it is. You know, Like
- 54:06Speaker 3: I'm getting older to the point my mom's not always
- 54:08Speaker 3: going to be by my side. I need to learn
- 54:11Speaker 3: how to do everything on my own.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, but you don't ever sign a contract
- 54:15Speaker 1: without her semi glancing at it now.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Ye know, there's always a lawyer in her looking at it. Okay,
- 54:21Speaker 3: and then we'll have like someone else who we know,
- 54:23Speaker 3: like knows business look over it to make sure, you know,
- 54:26Speaker 3: like we're very careful.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Now, okay, very careful, and all all accounts now lead
- 54:31Speaker 1: to you. Yeah, I a man, good job.
- 54:33Speaker 2: Okay, we're doing good.
- 54:35Speaker 1: We're doing good.
- 54:36Speaker 2: We're doing good.
- 54:37Speaker 1: But yeah, and I only say that because hearing your story,
- 54:40Speaker 1: it's very scary, but it's very real. It happens to
- 54:43Speaker 1: a lot of people. You know, but your success was
- 54:46Speaker 1: also monumental, so to not be able to capitalize off
- 54:49Speaker 1: that it's kind of sucky.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Yeah, it's crazy now.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Sorry, what else are you? What else are we talking about?
- 54:56Speaker 2: Any note tours right now? Music? For sure.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I've been working on a lot of new music which
- 55:02Speaker 3: should be coming out very soon. We're just trying to
- 55:04Speaker 3: figure out, like what song is the best next song.
- 55:07Speaker 2: To put out. I recently just got done filming a
- 55:12Speaker 2: TV series. Okay, that's exciting.
- 55:15Speaker 3: It's it's called Southwest and it's a show based on
- 55:21Speaker 3: a high school in Detroit, and the producers are Jalen Rose,
- 55:26Speaker 3: Dennis Reid, and thy Mopkins.
- 55:28Speaker 2: They're all from Detroit.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Jalen Rose is a former basketball player, which you probably know,
- 55:32Speaker 3: but he's in the show and I play his daughter
- 55:35Speaker 3: in the show.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Okay, I can't tell you.
- 55:37Speaker 3: Like exactly like the whole plot, of course, but I
- 55:41Speaker 3: think it's gonna be like one of the biggest TV
- 55:43Speaker 3: shows out.
- 55:45Speaker 1: When is it releasing?
- 55:46Speaker 2: Not sure? We didn't even like this. I'm really letting
- 55:51Speaker 2: it all be known right now, you know.
- 55:53Speaker 3: So we don't know when exactly it's coming out yet,
- 55:56Speaker 3: but you will be seeing more.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Of it like I'll be dropping a trailer soon.
- 56:00Speaker 1: And you like acting?
- 56:01Speaker 2: I love acting.
- 56:02Speaker 1: Do you like music more than acting or acting more
- 56:04Speaker 1: than music?
- 56:05Speaker 2: I like music more than acting.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Okay, I figured music's your first love. It is, okay,
- 56:11Speaker 1: all right. Any advice would you give to anybody coming
- 56:14Speaker 1: up in the game on the just the young person's side.
- 56:20Speaker 3: Don't trust everybody, Do not trust everybody. All I would say,
- 56:26Speaker 3: follow your dream and don't let anyone get in the
- 56:30Speaker 3: way of your dream. Don't let anyone tell you differently
- 56:35Speaker 3: about yourself. If you know, like like I can do this,
- 56:38Speaker 3: I believe in myself, then you can do it.
- 56:40Speaker 2: Don't let anyone try to stop you. And that's that's
- 56:44Speaker 2: what I say.
- 56:45Speaker 1: With those first managers, they were they one hundred percent
- 56:48Speaker 1: believed in you. Do you think that the power is
- 56:51Speaker 1: what changed the dynamic of that relationship or do you
- 56:54Speaker 1: think that they were like that from the jump?
- 56:59Speaker 2: I believe that they could have been like that from
- 57:02Speaker 2: the jump, and just was I had a mask over it,
- 57:05Speaker 2: you know, because I don't.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I don't.
- 57:08Speaker 3: I just feel like, if you can do somebody dirty,
- 57:10Speaker 3: you're You've always just been that type of person, and
- 57:12Speaker 3: just do somebody dirty.
- 57:13Speaker 2: You know like nothing changes.
- 57:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I definitely agree with that. Like, if I see
- 57:18Speaker 1: you act a certain way with somebody, if I see
- 57:20Speaker 1: people talk behind people's back when I have a role,
- 57:24Speaker 1: I have to exit the conversation because I don't want
- 57:26Speaker 1: to be a part of the problem of it.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:30Speaker 1: But two, I always feel like, okay, if that's how
- 57:32Speaker 1: you talk about other people, Like yeah, so I've always
- 57:37Speaker 1: been like that since I was young. But I see
- 57:38Speaker 1: somebody doing that, I'm like, Oh, that's how they move,
- 57:41Speaker 1: and that's how they move. Okay, Okay, I know I'm
- 57:44Speaker 1: not above it. All right, Well, thank you guys for
- 57:47Speaker 1: tuning in to another episode of Eating While Broke. This
