Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the program here. My name is Craig Way.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Glad to have you with us alongside, and pleased as
- 0:07Speaker 2: well to have the producer, Cameron D.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Parker alongside.
- 0:11Speaker 2: The d on the birth certificate stands for Dallas as
- 0:15Speaker 2: in being named for his favorite NFL team that he
- 0:18Speaker 2: refuses to watch out of his own disgust and desperation
- 0:21Speaker 2: and frustration, so he doesn't watch him. And that is why,
- 0:25Speaker 2: that is why Tuesdays are special when we're on this program,
- 0:31Speaker 2: because during football season, we know that Jerry Jones speaks
- 0:34Speaker 2: on Tuesdays from our friends at one O five through
- 0:37Speaker 2: the Fan and Dallas for Worth. So every Tuesday I
- 0:42Speaker 2: make it a point to make sure the Cameron Parker
- 0:46Speaker 2: lifts some of that audio because I know what it
- 0:48Speaker 2: means to him to hear from the Cowboys owner, president
- 0:51Speaker 2: and general manager.
- 0:53Speaker 3: How you doing today? I'm doing great, Craig. Jerry's comments
- 0:57Speaker 3: are always just they just bring joy to my heart,
- 1:00Speaker 3: you know, spring joy. It's just it's comedic relief, but
- 1:04Speaker 3: unintentional comedic relief. You know, like we all have that
- 1:07Speaker 3: family member right who is just funny by nature, right,
- 1:10Speaker 3: They're not trying to be funny. They're just funny. Funny
- 1:13Speaker 3: or their verbiage or whatever they do, it's funny. It's
- 1:16Speaker 3: the same thing with Jerry Jones. I mean just listening
- 1:17Speaker 3: him answer a simple question and the you know, the
- 1:20Speaker 3: his phrases, his accent, just how he completely answers the
- 1:24Speaker 3: question with an answer that has nothing to do with
- 1:26Speaker 3: the question.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's just I love it. I just absolutely love it.
- 1:29Speaker 1: I know. That's why I always like for you to
- 1:31Speaker 1: lift some of that audio.
- 1:32Speaker 2: We're going to hear some of that from Jerry Jones
- 1:34Speaker 2: today talking about his three and four Cowboys team coming
- 1:37Speaker 2: off the loss at San Francisco and dak Presscott and
- 1:40Speaker 2: all that.
- 1:40Speaker 1: So we'll hear from Jerry coming up today.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It is an open date obviously on the schedule for
- 1:47Speaker 2: the Texas Longhorns, so no Steve Sarkisian sound today tomorrow.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Even with the fact that the open date is on
- 2:01Speaker 2: the schedule. Sark does his participates in the SEC teleconference
- 2:08Speaker 2: with the other fifteen Southeastern Conference head football coaches, So
- 2:12Speaker 2: we'll hear some things from sark tomorrow Today on the program,
- 2:18Speaker 2: we will look at the Southeastern Conference. We'll look also
- 2:23Speaker 2: at where things stand for the college football Playoff. We're
- 2:26Speaker 2: getting close to this, and here's some signs about it.
- 2:29Speaker 2: First of all, we update you when we have information about,
- 2:38Speaker 2: you know, as we draw closer to the College Football
- 2:40Speaker 2: Playoff rankings. The first set of rankings don't come out
- 2:42Speaker 2: until I think it's is it one week to the
- 2:47Speaker 2: day or two weeks from the day? I know a
- 2:48Speaker 2: week from the day obviously is election day, And I'm
- 2:51Speaker 2: trying to remember if it's or is it is it
- 2:55Speaker 2: November fifth or November November seventh? On that trying to
- 2:59Speaker 2: find I think it's because remember it's been on Tuesdays
- 3:03Speaker 2: in the past. I think it starts next Tuesday on
- 3:08Speaker 2: the fifth. We'll get the confirmation on that. I know
- 3:11Speaker 2: it's November for sure. Yep, I think it's next Tuesday.
- 3:14Speaker 2: In any event, there's still projections of the twelve teams
- 3:20Speaker 2: and the percentages and where they could go to get
- 3:22Speaker 2: into the College Football Playoff, and it has updated and
- 3:26Speaker 2: it has changed because of the playoff some teams Texas
- 3:30Speaker 2: A and M and some other teams that have increased
- 3:33Speaker 2: their chances. So we'll run down that. But here's another
- 3:38Speaker 2: sign to let you know that we're getting closer to
- 3:43Speaker 2: that sort of thing. Rich Clark is the executive director
- 3:48Speaker 2: of the College Football Playoff. Tomorrow he is doing for
- 3:54Speaker 2: the media a zoom where they go into greater tail
- 4:01Speaker 2: on the process. And I'm gonna, uh, I've been given
- 4:04Speaker 2: the link to that and I'm gonna I'm gonna be
- 4:07Speaker 2: in on that.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And So it is November fifth. Ye I thought it
- 4:09Speaker 1: was it's a week, So it is.
- 4:11Speaker 2: It's coming up a week from the day next Tuesday, right,
- 4:14Speaker 2: the fifth. Yeah, next Tuesday is the fifth, So that'll
- 4:19Speaker 2: be the first one. So Rich Clark is the election
- 4:22Speaker 2: it is.
- 4:23Speaker 1: How about that? That's rather impactful, don't you think the.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So so he is doing a zoom about how the
- 4:35Speaker 2: process works again in some of the criteria they're looking
- 4:37Speaker 2: at and all those kinds of things. Thursday, Halloween Thursday,
- 4:45Speaker 2: Rich Clark is going to join us on the show.
- 4:49Speaker 2: We're gonna We're gonna visit with him, the executive director
- 4:51Speaker 2: of the College Football Playoff on Thursday, and get his
- 4:53Speaker 2: thoughts on some things.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So, so just.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Letting you know we're heading down that road, getting in
- 4:57Speaker 2: a little bit quicker on that. Uh, the NBA last night,
- 5:02Speaker 2: did you watch any NBA last year?
- 5:03Speaker 3: I watched the Little Suns and Lakers. First of all,
- 5:06Speaker 3: I got to own apology to everybody. I thought Maning
- 5:08Speaker 3: cast was not an action last night. Turns out it was,
- 5:11Speaker 3: so apologies for the misinformation. Cam did say, yes, there's
- 5:16Speaker 3: no Manning cast. There was there was, But you know what,
- 5:20Speaker 3: here's the way I look at that. I doubt that
- 5:24Speaker 3: could be wrong about this. I doubt there were large
- 5:26Speaker 3: amounts of people who were tuning into the Giant Steelers game,
- 5:34Speaker 3: whether you know that hoping that there would be a
- 5:38Speaker 3: Manning cast, or I doubt that there were people not
- 5:41Speaker 3: watching because they were led to believe there wasn't.
- 5:44Speaker 1: A Manning cast.
- 5:44Speaker 2: In other words, my point is this, if you were
- 5:47Speaker 2: going to watch that game, if you're going to watch
- 5:49Speaker 2: Giant Steelers, you were going to watch Giants Steelers.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 2: You know. Now this is coming from the perspective of
- 5:57Speaker 2: obviously a hardcore and from very very early age Los
- 6:03Speaker 2: Angeles Dodgers fans. So obviously I'm swept up in the
- 6:05Speaker 2: whole World series and I'm watching that and I'm excited,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and the one went away at YadA Yadam will get
- 6:09Speaker 2: in all that. But my point was going to be
- 6:12Speaker 2: that people were either going to be watching the World Series,
- 6:16Speaker 2: or if they had a real abiding interest in Giant Steelers,
- 6:20Speaker 2: or they just don't care about baseball. And I've had
- 6:22Speaker 2: other people say I don't care because the Yankees and
- 6:24Speaker 2: Dodgers don't wanna care, and I would, and I would
- 6:26Speaker 2: jokingly say to him, well, you're in the minority of
- 6:28Speaker 2: them because they're having some of the largest numbers they've
- 6:30Speaker 2: ever had.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But that's okay, that's okay.
- 6:33Speaker 2: They don't feel feel displaced or bad or anything like that.
- 6:36Speaker 2: That's your own personal choice and decision whether or not
- 6:39Speaker 2: you watch football or baseball or whatever. Would I have
- 6:43Speaker 2: watched Giants Steelers if there was no World Series game,
- 6:46Speaker 2: maybe some of it, and I would have checked the
- 6:51Speaker 2: scene if there was a Manning cast. But you know,
- 6:56Speaker 2: I can only take so much Bill Belichick.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Really, it just kind.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Of wears on me by the time we get well
- 7:02Speaker 2: into the second quarters. It just some of his stuff
- 7:07Speaker 2: is good and then some of us. You know, I
- 7:10Speaker 2: was flipping over. I didn't find Lawrence Taylor that engaging.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I didn't see him. I saw Cower, Yeah, and he's okay, cow.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You can watch him on CBS, right exactly. That's kind
- 7:21Speaker 1: of how it was.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But I was mainly obviously watching the World Series, but
- 7:25Speaker 2: I was flipping over and catching in. I mean, there's
- 7:27Speaker 2: lots of three minute breaks in the World Series every
- 7:30Speaker 2: half inning, so you had a chance to flip over
- 7:33Speaker 2: and watch a lot of.
- 7:33Speaker 3: That stuff, like an ABC college football game. Another four
- 7:36Speaker 3: minute break, there you go.
- 7:38Speaker 2: So anyway, there's NFL to discuss now here at tweak eight,
- 7:42Speaker 2: so we'll talk about that.
- 7:44Speaker 3: I mentioned college football as well, and I'm guessing you
- 7:47Speaker 3: feel pretty good. After the Dodgers took a three to
- 7:49Speaker 3: zero lead, now now pushing New York. I mean they
- 7:51Speaker 3: had Jeter thrown out the first pitch, they pulled out
- 7:54Speaker 3: all the stops everything.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Who was who did.
- 7:58Speaker 2: That?
- 7:58Speaker 1: Joe?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, Fat Joe came out, you know, just after Cube
- 8:01Speaker 2: did it the other night at Dodger Stadium like that,
- 8:04Speaker 2: So they had fat Joe last night, do it? I mean,
- 8:05Speaker 2: they pulled out all the stops and then the Dodgers
- 8:08Speaker 2: still got to win. Do I feel I think the
- 8:11Speaker 2: keywords there are pretty good. And the reason why I
- 8:13Speaker 2: say pretty good is because it's never happened before the
- 8:15Speaker 2: team has come back in the World Series from down
- 8:17Speaker 2: oh three to win it. There is, however, a blueprint
- 8:22Speaker 2: for a team in a best of seven baseball playoff series.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Having done it was twenty years ago Red Sox Yankees
- 8:28Speaker 2: when the Red Sox were down three games to none. Ironically,
- 8:32Speaker 2: what's often mentioned is what flipped the switch on that
- 8:37Speaker 2: whole turnaround was Dave Roberts, then in the twilight of
- 8:41Speaker 2: his career, stealing second base for the Red Sox in
- 8:44Speaker 2: Game four, and it ultimately led to them coming back
- 8:46Speaker 2: to win the game.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And then it touched off the whole big comeback.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And I did find it because I watched all the
- 8:51Speaker 2: postgame coverage like on FS one on yeah, and then
- 8:56Speaker 2: also I watched the Dodgers, you know, their post game
- 8:59Speaker 2: coverage on Sports Net at LA and with no more
- 9:04Speaker 2: Garciapara and Oral Herscheiser and all the interviews that were
- 9:08Speaker 2: coming from the locker room and all that other kind
- 9:09Speaker 2: of stuff, and they carry the news conferences. Well, Dave
- 9:12Speaker 2: Roberts is sitting there and a guy asks him, knowing
- 9:18Speaker 2: that you've been on the other side of this before,
- 9:21Speaker 2: down O three, what do you think the Red Soix,
- 9:25Speaker 2: I mean, the Yankees are saying on how they can
- 9:27Speaker 2: get it turned and now sitting on this side of it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: What's your message?
- 9:33Speaker 2: He goes, Well, first of all, I'm not going to
- 9:34Speaker 2: even talk about that other side of it. He goes,
- 9:36Speaker 2: I've been over there, I know, and I'm not giving
- 9:38Speaker 2: anybody anything any words on that he said. But they
- 9:42Speaker 2: said they just have to keep their front on the gas.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It's a bullpen game the night for LA. So the
- 9:46Speaker 2: pitching advantage definitely goes to the Yankees. We've been saying
- 9:49Speaker 2: this all along, that the starting pitching advantage was going
- 9:53Speaker 2: to New York. It just hasn't lived up to the
- 9:54Speaker 2: building on that tonight. Definitely, with heel on the mound
- 9:57Speaker 2: for New York, a bona fide started in a really
- 10:00Speaker 2: good pitcher, and the Dodgers are going with a bullpen game.
- 10:02Speaker 2: It's a box of chocolates. It only takes one being
- 10:05Speaker 2: off the game to change it all. So do I
- 10:08Speaker 2: feel pretty good?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yes?
- 10:11Speaker 2: But you know I also know this, If the Dodgers
- 10:14Speaker 2: don't win the World Series now, it will be the
- 10:16Speaker 2: greatest collapse in professional sports. I know.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'm just I'm stating it like it is.
- 10:23Speaker 2: If they don't win the World Series now, it's the
- 10:25Speaker 2: greatest collapse in professional sports.
- 10:28Speaker 1: History. It is.
- 10:30Speaker 2: It just is so they know they still have work
- 10:34Speaker 2: to them, need to say it. It just is to
- 10:36Speaker 2: avoid that they got to get one win. They got
- 10:38Speaker 2: four shots to get one win. So that's where that is,
- 10:41Speaker 2: all right. Up next, we'll hear from Jerry Jones his
- 10:46Speaker 2: thoughts on his Cowboys team and other stuff from his
- 10:49Speaker 2: conversation on the radio in Dallas this morning here on
- 10:52Speaker 2: sports Radio Am thirteen of the zone of the iHeart
- 10:54Speaker 2: Radio app.
