  SPEAKER_12: Hello, Manny.
• 1:42
SPEAKER_12: Thank you for being a part of our podcast today.
• 1:45
SPEAKER_12: Uh, I got a few questions I'd like to ask you if you don't mind.
• 1:49
  SPEAKER_12: Two, go ahead.
• 1:50
  SPEAKER_12: Okay.
• 1:51
SPEAKER_12: Well, first one is gonna be a background question for you.
• 1:55
SPEAKER_12: I'm wondering when did you become a model car builder?
• 1:59
SPEAKER_09: I'm 42 now, and I started with model cars when I was maybe maybe between 10 and 11.
• 2:10
SPEAKER_09: I started building model cars.
• 2:12
  SPEAKER_12: All right.
• 2:12
SPEAKER_12: I think that's kind of like a sweet spot, right?
• 2:15
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 2:16
SPEAKER_09: And then life, you know, made a girlfriend, took a break from that somewhere in high school.
• 2:22
SPEAKER_09: And no, I I'm lying to you, after high school.
• 2:25
SPEAKER_09: Must have been like a year or two after high school took a break, had life, kids, and all that, and now I come back into the hobby and um picking up where I left off.
• 2:33
  SPEAKER_12: Awesome, man.
• 2:34
SPEAKER_12: I love hearing the fact that people have, you know, started when they were a kid and then they took a break, explored the things that life can can offer you, and then came back to the hobby anyway.
• 2:44
SPEAKER_12: You know, I love that fact.
• 2:47
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's right.
• 2:49
SPEAKER_09: You know, kids, family, relationships, it takes you away from something that you enjoy.
• 2:55
SPEAKER_09: And you know, this is very time consuming.
• 2:56
SPEAKER_09: You guys should know you're you're part of it.
• 2:58
SPEAKER_09: So you can spend hours till one in the morning going, Oh crap, I gotta go to sleep to go to work or or do or take a bath, you know.
• 3:07
  unknown: Yeah, right.
• 3:08
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 3:09
SPEAKER_12: I I wish like you know, remember how Netflix would say, Are you still watching?
• 3:12
SPEAKER_12: I wish my bench did that.
• 3:14
SPEAKER_12: Are you are you still building?
• 3:15
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, maybe you should take a shower now, you know, that kind of a thing.
• 3:19
SPEAKER_09: You lose track of time real fast.
• 3:21
SPEAKER_04: Talking about going from building to to the life, uh, our good Fred friend Fred Henry, I believe he says it best.
• 3:28
SPEAKER_04: You start out doing it and then you catch the fumes, gas fumes, and perfumes.
• 3:33
SPEAKER_04: And after that, you get when you get all done with that, you come back to it.
• 3:36
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's that's a that's a a valid point.
• 3:40
  SPEAKER_10: Yep.
• 3:40
SPEAKER_10: What uh what what what subject model do you enjoy building it?
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_10: Just cars.
• 3:46
SPEAKER_09: So yeah, well, I do like I I enjoy cars a lot.
• 3:49
SPEAKER_09: Uh I admire tanks when the military stuff.
• 3:53
SPEAKER_09: I trip out on the weathering.
• 3:56
SPEAKER_09: Like when you see the uh uh the the amount of skill when it comes to weathering on a technical side, because I'm a I'm a painter, I'm an automotive painter.
• 4:04
SPEAKER_09: So I look at that stuff, I'm like, wow, the mud look so real, and the right sheen and the right gloss on everything, it's awesome.
• 4:12
  SPEAKER_09: I don't build it.
• 4:13
SPEAKER_09: My my son Manny Jr.
• 4:14
SPEAKER_09: likes it, but he doesn't really commit to it.
• 4:17
SPEAKER_09: Like, you know, it's not his thing.
• 4:18
SPEAKER_09: And my other son loves Gundam, like, like you can't imagine.
• 4:22
SPEAKER_09: I bought a kit and I'm gonna do an entry-level kit, and I'm gonna scribe it, do all the stuff that I know how to do and paint it, candy paint it, and then and weather it out.
• 4:31
SPEAKER_09: And I stare at it, but I don't even know where because at least a car, I can stare at a body and I can envision the colors, the scheme.
• 4:39
SPEAKER_09: Like, I already know, but these robots, they're like a thousand little clips on on a tree, and I'm like, okay, I can't picture it, you know what I'm saying?
• 4:46
SPEAKER_09: But I enjoy cars, cars is main my main subject.
• 4:50
  SPEAKER_03: Right on.
• 4:50
SPEAKER_03: That's actually why I can't get into Gundam because I feel like I need to know about it.
• 4:56
SPEAKER_03: And while I think they're cool AF, I can't get into it.
• 5:00
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, because I don't know it.
• 5:01
SPEAKER_09: I watch it, they're entertaining to watch.
• 5:04
SPEAKER_09: I've been watching some of the stuff on my son.
• 5:06
SPEAKER_09: I'm like, okay, okay, I'm I got you, but uh, I don't know, I'll give it another spin.
• 5:11
SPEAKER_09: I told my son, if you build it and give me the parts that I tell you to give me after you build it because they snap on, there's no glue, I'll paint them, scribe it, and then let him do the assembling.
• 5:20
SPEAKER_09: But I don't know, I'm trying to do that so I can kind of like have that really cool father and bunk.
• 5:28
  SPEAKER_12: Oh, see, that's awesome.
• 5:30
  SPEAKER_12: I I love that, man.
• 5:31
SPEAKER_12: Kind of exploring what your kids are into so you can have more ways to connect with them.
• 5:35
SPEAKER_09: Trying to trying to do it while I still can because eventually they get too big, too old, and then they're on to the next break, and it's like yeah, yeah, well, yeah, then then they find the fumes.
• 5:46
  SPEAKER_12: Yes, that's right.
• 5:48
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, exactly.
• 5:48
  SPEAKER_12: And they get sassy.
• 5:50
  SPEAKER_02: Yep.
• 5:51
SPEAKER_10: Within the car genre, is there anything specific that you enjoy more than anything else?
• 5:56
SPEAKER_10: Like, you know, import cars, lowrider trucks, you know, drag cars, NASCAR.
• 6:02
  SPEAKER_10: I mean, there's so much.
• 6:03
  SPEAKER_09: There is a lot.
• 6:04
SPEAKER_09: So in genre, right now I go through phases, right?
• 6:07
SPEAKER_09: So right now, even in my personal taste, I like customs.
• 6:10
SPEAKER_09: So it can be what I'm currently working on a 61 Galaxy custom.
• 6:15
SPEAKER_09: I used to, when I was a kid, I used to do a lot of low riders.
• 6:17
SPEAKER_09: And obviously, a lot of my marketing, my business is in the low rider community.
• 6:21
SPEAKER_09: I can really appreciate them, but I just like more of the customs, bubble topures, like the futuristic concept cars right now.
• 6:28
SPEAKER_09: And then from there, the next thing I'm gonna end up building is a couple bombs, like 1930s, 1940 kits, traditional, a little bit more traditional, solid colors, but just really clean.
• 6:38
SPEAKER_09: But I like everything, to be honest with you.
• 6:41
SPEAKER_09: NASCAR would be the least of my favorite.
• 6:44
  SPEAKER_09: Now, funny cars.
• 6:45
SPEAKER_09: If I have a couple of vintage funny car kits, those I love because those I can kind of give it that 70 style custom paint job that funny car was had in that era.
• 6:54
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
• 6:55
SPEAKER_09: But NASCAR is the only one, even though I was a kid, and they're fun.
• 6:58
SPEAKER_09: And some stuff uh that blew my mind in a way.
• 7:02
SPEAKER_09: Uh the when they cut the part, the guy it sucks, his model got broken, like uh, I believe in a ward fell on it.
• 7:08
SPEAKER_09: But he cut, he had it was a tied NASCAR and he had it cut in half, and he was showing, and I was like, holy shit, the amount of detail.
• 7:15
SPEAKER_09: Sorry about that, but the amount of detail was insane on that kit, you know.
• 7:21
SPEAKER_09: And I was like, That's how you do it.
• 7:22
SPEAKER_09: But customs, right now, I'm doing customs, but kind of the style I got.
• 7:26
SPEAKER_04: I was 10 feet away from that kit when that happened, and it was oh, it was devastating.
• 7:31
SPEAKER_03: Or you're admitting some fault at that.
• 7:33
SPEAKER_04: It was no no, it wasn't me.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_03: I was filming, I was like, You got your own gravity.
• 7:39
SPEAKER_12: I was there for that too.
• 7:41
SPEAKER_12: I was in I was in the room, but I I didn't know that it happened until like the next day.
• 7:45
SPEAKER_09: The next day I found out and they said they child that book table, and I was like, and then wow and I was so bummed out because I couldn't imagine how that felt with all that work just onto crap, you know, and we put a lot of work, there's a lot of reasons without going into too much detail and putting the guy's business out there.
• 8:04
SPEAKER_04: That was a commission build.
• 8:05
SPEAKER_04: He had been paid to build that and spent all that time and it took it to the show, and then that happened.
• 8:12
SPEAKER_04: That was it gets worse.
• 8:15
  SPEAKER_04: It does, yeah.
• 8:17
SPEAKER_04: That was that was sad.
• 8:18
  SPEAKER_09: That sucks, bro.
• 8:20
SPEAKER_09: But that's life, you know.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_09: There's worse no, I was gonna say there's worser things than life, you know.
• 8:24
SPEAKER_09: At least it was just a model, but it still sucked.
• 8:28
SPEAKER_12: Because we can sympathize, we all know what it's like to put a lot of time and effort into something, and then to have your most favorite build get destroyed by happenstance is definitely a heartbreaking situation.
• 8:40
SPEAKER_12: Manny, how how has it been for you being in such a large community, the the model car world now?
• 8:44
SPEAKER_12: How's that been for you?
• 8:46
SPEAKER_12: Been meeting a lot of folks and getting out there?
• 8:48
  SPEAKER_09: I have.
• 8:49
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I have, man.
• 8:50
SPEAKER_09: It's it's uh I kind of fell into it to be honest with you, because I went to and I talked to I told this story to Mike.
• 8:59
SPEAKER_09: I went to NNL East because that was on my bucket list, my personal bucket list.
• 9:03
SPEAKER_09: Because I travel all over the country for for the big the actual cars, the one-to-one, because there's a lot of there were some people like, oh you know, you're a model car paint company.
• 9:11
SPEAKER_09: I've never heard of you guys.
• 9:12
  SPEAKER_09: I go, No, we're not.
• 9:12
SPEAKER_09: We actually just manufacture automotive paint, that's our big market share.
• 9:17
SPEAKER_09: And then the model car is just a small a small portion of our business.
• 9:21
SPEAKER_09: So one of the things I've always wanted to go was NL East.
• 9:25
SPEAKER_09: And I went there and I'm walking around, and it wasn't until people sort of stopped me and say, Oh, you're Manny.
• 9:31
SPEAKER_09: I had two or three people who recognize me by face, I didn't know who they were.
• 9:34
SPEAKER_09: Like, hey, look, let me show you my model cars with your paint.
• 9:37
SPEAKER_09: I said, All right, cool.
• 9:38
SPEAKER_09: And then it was surprising.
• 9:39
SPEAKER_09: I didn't really feel I was gonna get recognized, especially in a market that we don't advertise at all, we don't market like all my businesses in California, not in New Jersey, and it became a snowball effect.
• 9:55
SPEAKER_09: And I live on Instagram, and now I obviously are on Facebook, and I didn't realize that we had such an impact in the community because I went as a hobbyist, you know.
• 10:04
SPEAKER_09: I said, I really want to check this out.
• 10:06
SPEAKER_09: I know these are the badass models, and then later I went to Acme, you know, and I realized there was a huge community out there, and then some people just came up to me and started talking to me.
• 10:15
SPEAKER_09: I'm like, this is awesome.
• 10:18
SPEAKER_09: And I, you know, I told my son, I go, Well, this is my son's like, Dad, I want to go home.
• 10:22
SPEAKER_09: Like, I'm tired already, wanted to go eat.
• 10:24
SPEAKER_09: But I'm like, Danny, I don't this is kind of mind blowing because I never thought I had this uh market.
• 10:31
SPEAKER_09: I didn't think that I had all this some support because I knew that there's companies that just market it to that market, and that's all they did.
• 10:41
SPEAKER_09: And all I did was get the same paint I make for cars in a little bottle.
• 10:45
SPEAKER_09: Put a marble, make sure it had the right reducer, and go to town.
• 10:49
SPEAKER_09: So it's actually pretty awesome.
• 10:50
SPEAKER_09: I met a lot of people very quickly and and created awesome friendships with people, and it's all within what I like too.
• 10:59
SPEAKER_09: I think that's also easy for me because there's I think people there's people not in this market, but just in general, that just make get in the market just for profits, and they're not really part of it.
• 11:11
SPEAKER_09: So I've had people ask me, like, you have ex like you've excelled very well in what you do in the last 10 years.
• 11:18
SPEAKER_09: I go, yeah, but I I actually love cars.
• 11:20
SPEAKER_09: Like I know my shit, I travel quite a bit, and when I'm in town for car shows, I go out of my way and go to different car museums with my buddy.
• 11:29
SPEAKER_09: So I go, I feel that one of the reasons I excel is because I apply myself because I'm part of the community.
• 11:36
SPEAKER_09: So it's easy, like the the Marco, the model car stuff.
• 11:39
SPEAKER_09: I had some guys says, Hey Manny, uh Ivan, no, no, it's not Ivan.
• 11:42
  SPEAKER_09: What's his name?
• 11:43
  SPEAKER_09: Irvin, Irvin Jr.
• 11:44
SPEAKER_09: I can't think of his last name.
• 11:45
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
• 11:46
  SPEAKER_13: Irvin Art.
• 11:48
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 11:49
SPEAKER_09: Irv goes, Manny, can you make a copy of rubber paint from test uh to mea makes rubber, black rubber tire paint or something like that?
• 11:59
SPEAKER_09: I'm like, Yeah, why not?
• 12:00
SPEAKER_09: So I went and I bought it at my local hobby store and I said, I'll copy it.
• 12:03
SPEAKER_09: He goes, Because I buy it on Amazon and it's a fortune and it's hard to get at hobby stores.
• 12:07
SPEAKER_09: I go, dude, give me give me a week and I'll make it.
• 12:09
  SPEAKER_09: He was right.
• 12:10
SPEAKER_09: I went to order on on Amazon, it was like$15 for a little tester bottle.
• 12:14
SPEAKER_09: Uh not tester, is uh to me, I'm sorry.
• 12:16
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, like a 10 milliliter one.
• 12:18
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and then I went to the hobby store and by me and they had it and I bought it, but I like this.
• 12:23
SPEAKER_09: And I also obviously I have a bunch of wheels, resin wheels, that I have to paint, do the same thing.
• 12:30
SPEAKER_09: So I think the fact that I'm also I I enjoy this a lot, it's easy for me to understand some of the struggles you guys go with because I'm also in the same boat.
• 12:39
  SPEAKER_09: Gotcha.
• 12:39
SPEAKER_09: I don't know if that makes sense.
• 12:40
SPEAKER_09: That super long explanation, absolutely, yeah.
• 12:43
SPEAKER_12: I I can tell you from experience that rubber black color is a hard color to keep on the shelves at the store because that is uh that's a great color for tires.
• 12:51
SPEAKER_12: I mean, to me, it says it all right there, you know.
• 12:53
SPEAKER_03: Just about everybody has a has a version of it though.
• 12:57
  SPEAKER_12: True.
• 12:59
SPEAKER_09: Why so my question to you guys what is your favorite though?
• 13:02
  SPEAKER_09: Is it to me?
• 13:03
  SPEAKER_09: Is it someone else's?
• 13:04
  SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, um, I honestly I don't have a favorite.
• 13:07
SPEAKER_03: Uh I've got some AK, I've got some uh from the MiG Atom line, uh, which is similar similar to the MiG Cobra line.
• 13:15
SPEAKER_03: Uh and they all have their, you know, they're all pretty similar.
• 13:19
SPEAKER_03: You know, they're not exactly the same.
• 13:21
SPEAKER_03: Like I could I could go and uh paint a whole bunch of spoons up.
• 13:25
SPEAKER_03: Uh and you could see the color difference, but you know, they're all they all kind of, you know, they're all they're all rubber black.
• 13:32
SPEAKER_03: You know, I actually have an AK rubber black marker that I can uh uh that one of their paint markers is rubber black, and it's fantastic for doing, you know, when you're trying to get right up against the wheel and not not get the paint onto the wheel itself.
• 13:45
  SPEAKER_03: It's phenomenal for that.
• 13:47
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 13:48
SPEAKER_12: So I I use that marker for around uh the window trim when you get the rubber seals around window trim.
• 13:52
  SPEAKER_12: Perfect for that.
• 13:53
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 13:54
SPEAKER_10: The the Tamiya acrylic rubber black and the tamiya lacquer rubber black.
• 14:00
SPEAKER_10: I like the acrylic better.
• 14:01
SPEAKER_10: I think it looks more of a natural black than the lacquer.
• 14:06
SPEAKER_10: The lacquer looks a little bit more gray, where the acrylic looks a little bit, it's got a little bit more of a brown tint to it.
• 14:14
SPEAKER_10: It just seems it just seems more accurate.
• 14:16
SPEAKER_10: You know, I've I've I've primed tires with just the Mr.
• 14:20
SPEAKER_10: Surfacer, the black, you know, the 1500.
• 14:23
SPEAKER_10: I'm like, that looks really good just with that, you know.
• 14:26
SPEAKER_10: But then you put the rubber black over it, it does make a big difference as far as you're like really shit.
• 14:32
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
• 14:33
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
• 14:33
SPEAKER_10: But I think it's uh it's one of those subjective things, you know.
• 14:36
SPEAKER_10: We all kind of see it a little bit differently.
• 14:38
SPEAKER_10: We we we kind of strive for a rubber black color, but when you go to a car show, you got tires that are you know just dredged out and uh tire shine, you know.
• 14:47
SPEAKER_10: So, you know, what do we what do we use to kind of duplicate what that looks like?
• 14:51
  SPEAKER_12: Like glaze donuts, yeah.
• 14:53
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'll take a rubber and vinyl tire if the kit comes of those, and I use the old school uh testers dull coat on that just to dull it down so it doesn't, it's not shiny and fake looking, you know, it makes it look kind of more realistic to what a rubber tire is.
• 15:09
SPEAKER_10: So again, it's all kind of subjective, I think, to how you look at it.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_10: But to me, it stuff's good stuff.
• 15:14
SPEAKER_10: I can get it locally.
• 15:15
SPEAKER_10: I use that, I haven't really used anything else, but I would say if you came out with one that was comparable, that would be a big hit.
• 15:22
  SPEAKER_09: So yeah, yeah.
• 15:24
SPEAKER_09: And I ask you this question because it it makes me think like I think about tires, you got different stages of tires.
• 15:30
SPEAKER_09: You got the bright, shiny tires are covered in armor.
• 15:33
SPEAKER_09: How about an older tire?
• 15:35
SPEAKER_09: You know, it's not black, it's already black, blue gray because it's faded from the sun.
• 15:40
SPEAKER_09: There's a lot of different shades of stuff, especially, you know, I did commercial tires for a living for for crap, like nine years of my life, ten years.
• 15:48
SPEAKER_09: Um, but it's like little things like that that I he I ask because I kind of want to know what you guys want because I don't know.
• 15:54
SPEAKER_09: I'm I'm a candy and pain and pearls, but when someone goes, Oh man, I really need a really great aluminum color, and you know, I buy from Alclad, but it's a mission and it's lack or I want something different.
• 16:05
SPEAKER_09: I'm like, all right, cool.
• 16:06
SPEAKER_09: And I kind of go down that that line, you know.
• 16:10
SPEAKER_09: Uh I got a bunch good example.
• 16:12
SPEAKER_09: Look, this is panel liner, water-based panel liner.
• 16:15
SPEAKER_09: By the way, really, really great stuff.
• 16:18
SPEAKER_09: I'm really happy with it.
• 16:19
SPEAKER_09: And my son's like, Oh, yes, water-based, because we have this, and we have the Tomia.
• 16:27
SPEAKER_09: Tamiya is an alcohol-based uh enamel.
• 16:30
SPEAKER_09: I think that that's yeah, theirs is an enamel, yeah.
• 16:33
SPEAKER_09: Because I'm thinking of their paint because they have an enamel line and a and an alcohol-based line that's water-based, yeah.
• 16:38
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but my son's like, Oh, what do you make a panel liner?
• 16:40
  SPEAKER_09: Like, but why?
• 16:41
SPEAKER_09: I already this is pretty good and I like it.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_09: So there's things that there's some stuff that I'll make and some stuff I won't because there's no if it's already in the market, doesn't need to like why have so many options?
• 16:51
SPEAKER_09: It it creates like confusion sometimes, and then the modeler doesn't know what to do.
• 16:56
SPEAKER_09: That's my opinion for certain stuff, like you know, if you if someone's a thing here, I need to yeah, if you love my paint line and you like to use what I I make, then I don't have a problem in offering other colors, but it's in the same family.
• 17:09
SPEAKER_12: So, what if you did um like a rubber black, like you know, like a like a standard rubber like kind of like what Tamiya has, their XF85.
• 17:16
SPEAKER_12: Um, just showing off by knowing that number, but um, but you also did like uh uh a shiny version, like like somebody had just armor all their tires, you know.
• 17:26
SPEAKER_09: Not a problem at all.
• 17:27
  SPEAKER_12: A semi-gloss black because it's just it's just doesn't look right, you know.
• 17:31
SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that'd be an interesting, interesting thing to to think about.
• 17:35
  SPEAKER_12: I have or an A.
• 17:37
  SPEAKER_12: I have a purple office, huh?
• 17:38
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, an age rubber, an age rubber, an age rubber is cool because it's kind of chalky, grayish.
• 17:44
SPEAKER_09: I guess you can tell.
• 17:46
SPEAKER_09: And I think there's a lot of guys that do those.
• 17:48
  SPEAKER_09: Uh yeah, I think it's a great idea.
• 17:49
SPEAKER_09: There's some guys that do these abandoned cars that look great, and I I'm open for everything, to be honest with you.
• 17:56
SPEAKER_09: A lot of stuff, what you referenced to the glazed, the glaze is something I can do with a 1k acrylic clear and then add a mattering agent into it, and then I can control the sheen so I can say here's a uh shiny tire, here's a worn-out faded tire.
• 18:10
SPEAKER_09: And all you do is you you paint the same color and you just apply it by brush, airbrush, or if you want it in a spray can, you can do it in a spray can too.
• 18:17
SPEAKER_09: Because these are the spray cans we're coming out with.
• 18:19
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they do rattle cans, they do rattle cans, yeah.
• 18:22
SPEAKER_04: And then so he's got the small ones, all right.
• 18:24
SPEAKER_04: I know we're last time we talked, man, and you were getting them, hadn't got them, so but now you got the smoke cans.
• 18:29
  SPEAKER_09: Fantastic.
• 18:30
SPEAKER_09: I'll give you an idea.
• 18:31
SPEAKER_09: We do a little bit over six thousand spray cans a month, is what we we uh we sell, so we manufacture, I don't know, eight or nine because we also keep a lot of stuff in stock and some stuff we export.
• 18:42
SPEAKER_09: This was brought up to my attention in New Jersey.
• 18:44
SPEAKER_09: So obviously, this is a podcast, so people can't hear what they can't see what I'm doing.
• 18:48
  SPEAKER_09: I'm holding my hand a five-ounce, 150 milliliter little aerosol can.
• 18:52
SPEAKER_09: And someone in NL East told me, Why do you not sell smaller spray cans?
• 18:56
SPEAKER_09: Because your spray cans, I think our spray cans are like$25-30 a spray can.
• 19:00
SPEAKER_09: And they're like, Man, I'm disabled, I have a limited budget, you have great colors, but that one can I can paint so many cars, and it's just too much paint for me.
• 19:08
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and I told them they'll use the same excuse for talking about Rust Oleum.
• 19:14
  SPEAKER_03: Jason slaps his head.
• 19:17
SPEAKER_09: And I told them, I go, Look, you know what's the problem?
• 19:19
SPEAKER_09: Okay, this little can cost me the same, actually cost me 10 cents more to get manufactured than the big can.
• 19:25
SPEAKER_09: So I told them, Yeah, these are yeah, they cost a uh 10 cents more to manufacture.
• 19:31
SPEAKER_09: And I said it just doesn't make sense for me.
• 19:32
SPEAKER_09: But when I went home and started thinking about it, I'm like, well, how much paint am I putting in it?
• 19:37
  SPEAKER_09: This and that.
• 19:38
SPEAKER_09: And I looked at it, I'm like, you know what, this is gonna help out.
• 19:40
SPEAKER_09: We make the less gross profit by sure, but I think there's gonna be a market that this is gonna help out a lot of people, yeah, that don't have access to my product because they feel like it's too out of their price point or their own limited budget.
• 19:52
SPEAKER_09: And I can obviously I think I can afford to to I can afford to sell this if to be honest with you, because we're what we do in the automotive side blows it out of the water, you know, compared to what we do.
• 20:03
SPEAKER_09: We do very well with the hobbies.
• 20:05
SPEAKER_09: Uh, I mean, I talked to Mike and uh on a monthly thing, we sell I think it was like four no, it was 800 of the four-ounce RTSs a month, and I think the two ounce sells more.
• 20:17
SPEAKER_09: So in a month, I think it was like 1200 to like 900.
• 20:21
SPEAKER_09: So you know it's ever ever since we introduced that, and then we're now gonna introduce a one-ounce uh RTS.
• 20:29
SPEAKER_09: I don't have the I don't have them here, but the one ounce is gonna carry this name, the scale down the division of just model paint, you know, for the audience.
• 20:37
SPEAKER_04: I really see that scale-down line taking off for you, especially those rattle cans.
• 20:41
SPEAKER_04: I feel like those will really do you good.
• 20:44
SPEAKER_04: Uh, because a lot of guys don't have an airbrusher, don't want to mess with the whole process of airbrushing.
• 20:49
SPEAKER_04: And I mean, Jason does both, but I'm sure if you asked him, he prefers a rattle can because it's just so much easier, right?
• 20:56
SPEAKER_04: There's less cleanup, there's less work, and and if you get one that lays down, like I know your product lays down, then I'm I'm sure they're gonna do very well for you.
• 21:04
SPEAKER_04: I'm excited to get some myself.
• 21:06
SPEAKER_09: There's a lot of look, good example for the uh this there's a lot of stuff I hit with an air with a spray can just because it's convenient, and some like the body I'll paint with with with a gun or an airbrush, but there's some stuff that I'm like, I'm not gonna paint in a pink gun to paint it out, just grab a can, spray it, and call it a day.
• 21:24
SPEAKER_09: So it there's a little bit of everything for everybody.
• 21:26
  SPEAKER_09: I think it'll do very well.
• 21:27
SPEAKER_09: And then we also included QR codes, all our products leave with a QR code that you scan, takes you straight to YouTube to a how-to video.
• 21:34
SPEAKER_09: So any of the you know basic questions are asked.
• 21:38
SPEAKER_12: So that's how you're supposed to do it.
• 21:40
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, exactly.
• 21:41
SPEAKER_03: Your um your slight hit to your gross profit, I think, will be balanced out with the the quantity of sales that you may get.
• 21:49
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
• 21:50
SPEAKER_12: You know what I mean?
• 21:51
SPEAKER_12: So would you be able to shoot us some pictures that we can put up on our Facebook page of of some of your products?
• 21:57
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, or even better, you get on our Facebook page.
• 22:00
  SPEAKER_03: Page.
• 22:01
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 22:02
SPEAKER_11: I have a question regarding those small cans.
• 22:06
SPEAKER_11: Do you have a projected date for release yet?
• 22:09
  SPEAKER_09: All right.
• 22:10
SPEAKER_09: So we're currently purchasing the building that we're in, right?
• 22:14
SPEAKER_09: And we have closing next week.
• 22:16
SPEAKER_09: So next week we acquire 30,000 square feet building that's owned by us.
• 22:22
SPEAKER_09: By that, by acquiring that, we're also taking over.
• 22:25
SPEAKER_09: So we're taking over another unit.
• 22:27
SPEAKER_09: We have a tenant that has half of the building that's 15,000.
• 22:30
  SPEAKER_09: We're acquiring another 5,000.
• 22:32
SPEAKER_09: I'm waiting for that transition.
• 22:34
SPEAKER_09: We're going to be remodeling the building, doing a lot of stuff.
• 22:36
SPEAKER_09: So I'm hoping by the end of this year, the last quarter of this year, or the beginning quarter of next year, we have it.
• 22:43
SPEAKER_09: So I'm hoping to have this launched November, December, or January, February.
• 22:48
SPEAKER_09: Those are the that window that I have idea because we have Grand National Roaster Show, and that's a really big event for us that we set up a display.
• 22:57
SPEAKER_09: So but I think around that space, it's going to be really easy for us to uh to make all the colors, have everything on the shelf and launch.
• 23:04
SPEAKER_12: I might have to go to that show just so I can see Manny's table and meet him in person.
• 23:08
  SPEAKER_09: Right?
• 23:08
  SPEAKER_09: At Grand National?
• 23:09
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
• 23:10
SPEAKER_09: It's it's a big we do 80 feet at the Grand National Roaster Show.
• 23:14
  SPEAKER_08: So it's it's a it's in Pomona, California.
• 23:17
  SPEAKER_08: Yep.
• 23:17
  SPEAKER_08: What's a Pomona?
• 23:19
  SPEAKER_12: What's a Pomona?
• 23:20
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 23:20
  SPEAKER_12: Nice call back.
• 23:22
  SPEAKER_12: You're welcome.
• 23:22
  SPEAKER_12: That's awesome.
• 23:23
SPEAKER_12: When it when is the show?
• 23:25
SPEAKER_09: The last weekend of January.
• 23:26
SPEAKER_09: So it would be the weekend of January the 28th.
• 23:30
  SPEAKER_09: So it's a third.
• 23:31
SPEAKER_09: No, it's a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday show.
• 23:34
SPEAKER_09: That's where like if if you want to meet Chip Foos and all these uh car builders, that's where they award the most beautiful hot rod in the country.
• 23:42
  SPEAKER_09: So it's a it's a very, very good show to go.
• 23:44
SPEAKER_12: I think my in-laws are in town that weekend on it's on the schedule already.
• 23:47
SPEAKER_12: So I am totally available to come hang out.
• 23:50
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, there you go.
• 23:52
SPEAKER_09: You'll see so many cars, it's insane the amount of cars you see there.
• 23:58
SPEAKER_09: It's it's on Saturday, you can walk for hours.
• 24:02
SPEAKER_09: The quality is second to none, dude.
• 24:04
  SPEAKER_10: It's just insane.
• 24:05
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_12: I happen to know that Arizona, my area of Arizona, is only five and a half hours away from Pomona.
• 24:12
  SPEAKER_12: Just saying.
• 24:13
  SPEAKER_03: That's not bad.
• 24:14
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's closed.
• 24:15
  SPEAKER_12: That's within driving distance.
• 24:16
SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that's rental car usage distance, you know.
• 24:19
SPEAKER_09: Nah, we're gonna end up flying out there because when I told my buddy about that, and we have club brothers, I'm in a in a lower ladder car club, and we have club brothers in Arizona, so it's not it's easy, really easy for me to head that way.
• 24:30
  SPEAKER_09: Sweet.
• 24:31
  SPEAKER_04: Real quick, Manny.
• 24:32
SPEAKER_04: I know we talked about it uh a couple times, and we talked about it when we had you on the Sunday live.
• 24:37
SPEAKER_04: But the real question we talked about, you know, rubber black, we've talked about your rattle cans, all that are great.
• 24:42
SPEAKER_04: But what this hobby needs, in my opinion, as far as paint goes, is a affordable quality chrome that you can touch and doesn't come off with your finger.
• 24:53
SPEAKER_04: What are the chances that Tropical Glits are gonna come up with something like that?
• 24:57
  SPEAKER_09: Good question.
• 24:58
SPEAKER_09: So we have we've had something, it's called vaporized aluminum, and we have something.
• 25:02
SPEAKER_09: Uh my biggest hang up is I gave up that project to work on making the candy line that we have, right?
• 25:08
SPEAKER_09: Because I have a guy that works with me and says, Yeah, we gotta do bait, we gotta do chrome, chrome, chrome, chrome.
• 25:13
SPEAKER_09: And he showed me chrome, and I go, Yeah, chrome is how they make mirrors, it's mirrors made by silver nitrate.
• 25:18
SPEAKER_09: And the whole nine years, I go, You don't want that because it tarnishes and it has real silver, so that's not price competitive.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, well, because it's it goes by the market, so wherever precious metals at, it's gonna so they I do have something, and it's pretty very similar to what's out there now.
• 25:33
SPEAKER_09: And I tell people there's a company in on Amazon that sells it, it's similar, I can make it way better, but you have to clear coat it with the water-based clear that I'm gonna provide because the moment you do anything over it that's solvent, it reactivates all the aluminum particles and it shifts them around and it turns into like a doll gray.
• 25:52
SPEAKER_12: Yeah, so that's what happened.
• 25:53
  SPEAKER_09: Okay, all right, yeah.
• 25:55
SPEAKER_09: So the one that everybody they're not talking about anymore, but a couple of months ago, everybody was going crazy for it on the forms.
• 26:02
SPEAKER_09: I'm like, all right, that's very similar to what we're making.
• 26:04
SPEAKER_09: And what it is is called VMP, and it's just a vaporized aluminum, and it's the way it's processed and manufactured, and you can't really add it to any resins because the resins screw up the way they orientate and lay.
• 26:16
SPEAKER_09: So you have to add it to a wet solvent.
• 26:18
SPEAKER_09: So when you spray this stuff on, it's like you're spraying you're not even spraying water, it seems like you're spraying alcohol because alcohol has no body.
• 26:26
SPEAKER_09: Like if you compare the density of water and alcohol, there's more tension in water than alcohol.
• 26:31
SPEAKER_09: So you're like spraying like pure solvent, but the orientations of all the aluminum lays down and it looks perfect.
• 26:36
  SPEAKER_09: The reflection is great.
• 26:37
SPEAKER_03: There is a new product that Coast Airbrush has been uh uh releasing videos on.
• 26:44
SPEAKER_03: Um, I don't know what the price point is, but it does look like it's going to be a bulletproof chrome.
• 26:49
  SPEAKER_09: It's a fortune, bro.
• 26:51
SPEAKER_09: I went on so that so it's called Happy Paint, whatever.
• 26:55
  SPEAKER_09: They there's a company, they don't manufacture it.
• 26:57
SPEAKER_09: They found there's a company in Japan that makes that stuff, right?
• 27:01
SPEAKER_09: I know who's a man, the manufacturer, the price point.
• 27:05
SPEAKER_09: I never looked into that because it was not competitive at all.
• 27:08
SPEAKER_09: I was like, dude, right, you what you guys are asking for.
• 27:11
SPEAKER_09: So if you go on coastas airbrush, yeah, I'm not knocking coast.
• 27:14
SPEAKER_09: I know Dave personally, yeah.
• 27:15
SPEAKER_09: You go on Coastas Airbrush, shoot, what was the price?
• 27:19
SPEAKER_09: It was like I think a pint kit or a quart kit was like sixteen hundred dollars.
• 27:24
SPEAKER_09: Holy Moses! I and it sucks because I'm on the phone, so I can't verify it.
• 27:29
SPEAKER_09: But if any of you guys have access to the computer, I saw something like sixteen hundred dollars for a quart.
• 27:33
  SPEAKER_09: There's 32 ounces in a quart.
• 27:35
SPEAKER_09: I was like, Jesus Christ, so how much is it per ounce?
• 27:38
SPEAKER_09: So it wasn't something that I felt now.
• 27:40
SPEAKER_09: I think there's the guys that can't afford to chrome carp, uh their chrome their their pop metal, right?
• 27:46
SPEAKER_09: I asked uh advanced plating out of Tennessee to chrome plate re-chrome my pop, the pop metal I have on my Pontiac, and they told me$4,200 for a little.
• 27:55
SPEAKER_09: So I think that market someone will spend sixteen hundred dollars, but I don't think it's gonna roll into this hobby, into this space.
• 28:02
  SPEAKER_03: True, true.
• 28:03
  SPEAKER_03: Let's see.
• 28:04
SPEAKER_03: They are they're apparently sold out of their first run.
• 28:08
SPEAKER_03: Uh they're calling it Chroma Edge.
• 28:10
SPEAKER_03: All right, let's see what it costs.
• 28:13
SPEAKER_03: Oh, they sell it in a five-ounce kit.
• 28:15
SPEAKER_03: So I'll check that because that will be hobby sizes.
• 28:17
SPEAKER_09: Oh, what's the price of the five ounce?
• 28:19
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's uh holy three hundred and twenty-two dollars and twenty-nine cents.
• 28:24
SPEAKER_03: Five hours that is not gonna be pay uh effective for scale modeling.
• 28:29
SPEAKER_03: No, do they do they take checks?
• 28:32
  SPEAKER_03: I can send them a check.
• 28:33
SPEAKER_09: All right, what's the price of the court?
• 28:34
SPEAKER_09: Let me see if I was even close.
• 28:36
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I said sixteen hundred bucks.
• 28:37
SPEAKER_09: I really think there is a big market for it.
• 28:40
SPEAKER_09: I just don't think it's gonna be in our space.
• 28:42
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah.
• 28:43
SPEAKER_12: Oh, well, yeah, their first run could also have been six uh six units.
• 28:46
  SPEAKER_03: So yeah, right.
• 28:47
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they they offer it in they offer it in five ounce, fifteen ounce, forty-five ounce, ninety ounce, and three hundred and sixty ounce.
• 28:55
  SPEAKER_09: So a quart, because a quart is 32.
• 28:56
  SPEAKER_09: So what's what's 45?
• 28:59
SPEAKER_04: I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, Mira Mira makes a beautiful chrome and they sell it a two-ounce bottle for 80 bucks.
• 29:06
SPEAKER_04: It's great stuff, but they can hardly sell it because it's 80 bucks for two ounces.
• 29:11
SPEAKER_10: I've given up, I've given up on all that stuff.
• 29:13
SPEAKER_10: I'm just using uh the chrome silver to mea to paint interior parts, and I'm using bare metal foil.
• 29:20
SPEAKER_09: I do bare metal foil and these little this little marker that's technically the same thing that liquid chrome by cool art, it's the same vaporized aluminum, you can't touch it too much, you lose it, but it works out great, dude.
• 29:32
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and for little things that you don't really fiddle around with, it's awesome.
• 29:35
  SPEAKER_03: So for 45-ounce three-piece kit,$1,918.96.
• 29:42
  SPEAKER_11: Wow.
• 29:43
  SPEAKER_03: Perfect.
• 29:43
SPEAKER_11: I'm gonna order myself up some right now.
• 29:45
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah, right.
• 29:46
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna just get a gallon so I can just you know use it forever.
• 29:49
SPEAKER_03: Do they have uh do they have a coupon code?
• 29:51
SPEAKER_03: No, we can do PayPal paying for.
• 29:54
  SPEAKER_09: Right?
• 29:54
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, paying for, yeah.
• 29:56
  SPEAKER_04: Paying for, yeah.
• 29:57
SPEAKER_09: Um, Mike, I have something, you know, and I think it's really affordable because it really does.
• 30:02
SPEAKER_09: I don't I don't believe it costs a lot to make, to be honest with you.
• 30:05
SPEAKER_09: And then these are companies that I go to different chemical shows and I work with them and I try to cut out all these brokers.
• 30:10
SPEAKER_09: There's a lot of brokers that sometimes they're here in the states, sometimes they're they're a rep agency and they're making 20, 30 points, sometimes 50 points on top of what you're buying it for.
• 30:20
  SPEAKER_09: So, what's the point?
• 30:21
SPEAKER_09: So, I'd rather just go to South America, go to the Mexican chemical show, the one in Indiana.
• 30:26
SPEAKER_09: If I have to go to Germany, I'll do it because that's how you end up buying directly, and it saves a big difference.
• 30:32
SPEAKER_09: And you can sit down and say, Hey, look, I'm gonna buy a hundred kilograms of this from you.
• 30:36
  SPEAKER_09: What's your best price?
• 30:37
SPEAKER_09: And then that changes the whole the whole game.
• 30:39
SPEAKER_09: Right, there's no briefcases with handcuffs, and you know, you gotta buy smart.
• 30:47
SPEAKER_09: Um I tell people you I mean, I tell my kids you gotta buy smart, and if you're gonna buy in book, and we we don't have debt, we don't take loans, everything we pay cash up front.
• 30:55
SPEAKER_09: We don't say, Oh, give me 30-day chart.
• 30:57
SPEAKER_09: No, no, I'm gonna buy it from you.
• 30:59
  SPEAKER_09: What's your best price?
• 31:00
SPEAKER_09: I'm paying cash, and that's how we also been able to scale, you know, and be competitive with a lot of stuff we do.
• 31:06
SPEAKER_12: My uh, my my brother had a friend that used to uh when they were in the military together, and he became um private security guy for people that were buying diamonds, and uh he had a lot of stories about going into places like in South America and stuff just to buy uh precious gems.
• 31:24
SPEAKER_12: And uh it was funny because you walk in, you walk into the to the room, and on the desk is this spread of all these precious stones, and then uh somebody walks out of the room as as as him and his escort walk in, and uh they sit down, and the person behind the desk takes everything that's off the desk and and and folds it all up and puts it away, and then opens another desk drawer and pulls out a different bundle of gems and opens them up and they're like nicer quality than what was just what was just on the counter.
• 31:52
SPEAKER_12: And and my brother's son was like, What's that all about?
• 31:55
SPEAKER_12: And the guy goes, Oh, well, the guy who just left, he worked for Shane Company, they never give us a good price.
• 31:59
SPEAKER_12: You guys pay cash every time, you get the good stuff.
• 32:02
SPEAKER_12: It's like, Oh, that's how that works.
• 32:04
  SPEAKER_12: Okay.
• 32:06
SPEAKER_04: That's funny that you mentioned security.
• 32:08
SPEAKER_04: That uh, you know, me and Manny have been talking about Manny coming up in uh the the headquarters of the scale model outlaw and buying some model kits.
• 32:15
SPEAKER_04: Well, you talk about bringing some of his product with him, and and the the logistics problem we're having is getting the security to ride up with the truck from Tropical Glitz to here to make sure that nobody hijacks his truck on the way here because I know he's gonna bring some product to trade with.
• 32:30
SPEAKER_09: I'm glad you said that.
• 32:32
  SPEAKER_09: We actually have planned.
• 32:33
SPEAKER_09: Um, I was just talking to my wife today about that.
• 32:36
SPEAKER_09: And she goes, Oh, you want to do the Saturday?
• 32:37
SPEAKER_09: Go, no, this Saturday got a lot going on.
• 32:39
SPEAKER_09: And she goes, I go next Saturday.
• 32:41
SPEAKER_09: So because we're thinking of going up there Friday, like Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, something like that.
• 32:46
SPEAKER_09: She wants to visit her cousin and go to a national uh natural spring.
• 32:51
SPEAKER_04: Oh, there's a bunch of you, yeah.
• 32:52
SPEAKER_09: And I told her, I go, Yeah, you know, I gotta go and visit.
• 32:54
SPEAKER_09: You go, that's why we're doing this.
• 32:55
SPEAKER_09: We we'll just do three or four things at the same time.
• 32:57
SPEAKER_09: So I'm hoping closing, we're closing on the building on Friday.
• 33:01
SPEAKER_09: So I want to see you can confirm if we're gonna finally go next weekend or not.
• 33:05
SPEAKER_09: But she's ready to go.
• 33:06
SPEAKER_09: Like she wanted to go this Friday.
• 33:08
SPEAKER_09: I mean, this this weekend.
• 33:09
  SPEAKER_09: I go hold off.
• 33:11
SPEAKER_09: I I gotta, I gotta get ready because I know I gotta do something with Mike.
• 33:14
SPEAKER_09: So we gotta we gotta square that away.
• 33:16
SPEAKER_04: Well, we'll square that away, but if it's just so I don't forget, if it's next weekend, not this weekend coming up, but the following weekend, it'll have to be on Sunday.
• 33:22
  SPEAKER_04: But that's fine.
• 33:23
  SPEAKER_04: Okay, that's fine.
• 33:24
  SPEAKER_10: No, Sunday's fine.
• 33:25
SPEAKER_10: I'd be more worried about uh being locked up somewhere with Mike versus uh security hijacking a truck.
• 33:33
SPEAKER_10: No, I mean uh you know, I'm just saying no, no, here in Ocala, they know me.
• 33:40
SPEAKER_04: They they know me too well.
• 33:41
  SPEAKER_04: We're safe as long as we're in O'Cala.
• 33:44
  SPEAKER_04: Big fish, small pond.
• 33:46
  SPEAKER_02: There you go.
• 33:48
SPEAKER_04: Not like up there in Wolfsboro, New Hampshire where I was exactly where I was spending 20 million dollars.
• 33:53
  SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
• 33:54
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
• 33:55
SPEAKER_10: So, Manny, all the paint that you produce, is it uh lacquer-based, urethane-based?
• 34:02
  SPEAKER_10: What is it?
• 34:02
SPEAKER_10: Your uh what is it that you're putting out?
• 34:04
  SPEAKER_09: Polyurethane.
• 34:06
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's a urethane.
• 34:08
SPEAKER_09: The biggest thing it's it's in a polyurethane because there's acrylic urethane that's very popular.
• 34:12
SPEAKER_09: Without getting technical, there's like four or five different urethane, but we we do a polyurethane, it's very easy to stack and re and re-melt into each other, so it kind of behaves like a lacquer, you know how because a lacquer, when you spray it, it will reactivate and soften itself and become one layer, so it's really good on millage and delamination is not gonna happen with you on this as long as well the RTS has already had the reducer in it, so you don't really have to worry about that.
• 34:38
SPEAKER_09: So, but yeah, it's a polyurethane automotive uh paint, and it accepts uh 2k, obviously.
• 34:44
SPEAKER_10: But what about just regular 1k lacquer-based clear?
• 34:48
SPEAKER_09: You can do you know, I'm not sure about lacquer clear.
• 34:51
SPEAKER_09: I think lacquer, what was the rule of thumb?
• 34:54
SPEAKER_09: You can always put lacquer on enamel, but you can't put enamel.
• 34:57
SPEAKER_09: Uh no, you can always put enamel on lacquer, but you can never put lacquer on enamel because it'll say yeah, so you can spray 1k clear on it, you can spray acrylic clear on it.
• 35:09
SPEAKER_09: Uh you know, lacquer on the colour.
• 35:11
SPEAKER_03: I do have to say I I have successfully used um Mr.
• 35:17
SPEAKER_03: Super Clear UV cut over your uh over your paint with no ill effect.
• 35:23
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
• 35:24
SPEAKER_09: I don't think there's enough solvents to kick because anyways, yeah, okay, it's not hot enough.
• 35:30
SPEAKER_09: And if you're like ah, lacquer, I go, bro, lacquer's not really hot enough to reactivate polyurethane base coat because lacquer is just lacquer, it has maybe acetone, and acetone's not hot enough.
• 35:43
  SPEAKER_09: You know, if you tell me M E K, if you tell me M-I-B-K, E M K.
• 35:47
SPEAKER_03: If you're using extra fin to thin your paint, you might have some problems.
• 35:52
SPEAKER_12: Yeah, meth as a ketone, yeah.
• 35:55
SPEAKER_09: Any ketone will will uh will soften up our paint right away.
• 36:00
SPEAKER_10: I mean, as you start to uh as you start to kind of roll down that road of becoming more of a player in the hobby, it's good to understand that because you're gonna have people out there fucking rustolium clear coat over that thing, you know.
• 36:14
SPEAKER_10: And if they don't have a good day, it's gonna be your problem.
• 36:17
SPEAKER_09: So yeah, no, so we get calls.
• 36:20
SPEAKER_09: Rustolium, you can spray Rustolium clear over it, you might not get that really nice effect.
• 36:25
SPEAKER_09: But I tell guys, don't spray my stuff over Rustolium stuff, and then like I wrinkled that go, yeah, bro.
• 36:31
SPEAKER_09: You can't spray it over a five-dollar primer and expect a two hundred thousand dollar you know outcome.
• 36:37
SPEAKER_09: It just don't, you're not doing anybody favor, right?
• 36:39
SPEAKER_03: So don't cheap out on your base.
• 36:43
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
• 36:44
SPEAKER_09: I guess when I get stressed out telling you because it's like I I we hear that a lot, and then even in people trying to do stuff on their motorcycles, like I went and I bought this primer like, no, bro, that's not the right primer.
• 36:55
SPEAKER_09: No, but it I you know, I didn't want to buy your prime.
• 36:57
SPEAKER_09: I was like, now you have a problem because you went with a five-dollar primer.
• 37:00
  SPEAKER_09: Expensive.
• 37:01
SPEAKER_09: I sent it to you because it costs and it works, you know.
• 37:03
SPEAKER_09: Now I got all I have all my frames.
• 37:06
  SPEAKER_09: Sorry.
• 37:06
  SPEAKER_12: That's that's right.
• 37:07
SPEAKER_12: My my philosophy with with uh primers and clear coats are to keep it in the family so that you know that everything's formulated to work together with each other, so you're not gonna have some sort of you have experience.
• 37:18
  SPEAKER_12: I have experience.
• 37:19
  SPEAKER_03: Yep.
• 37:19
SPEAKER_04: Well, that I guess I guess that would be another question.
• 37:22
SPEAKER_04: Do you offer or are you planning on offering a rattle can primer or a you know two-ounce primer?
• 37:28
SPEAKER_09: And well, you know, that's a good question.
• 37:29
  SPEAKER_09: I have a big can of primer, I don't have a two-ounce primer.
• 37:33
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we better.
• 37:34
SPEAKER_09: I haven't thought about that, Mike, to be honest with you.
• 37:36
SPEAKER_12: A big can of primer would probably be great because you're gonna do multiple projects.
• 37:40
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's where a big can comes in handy.
• 37:42
  SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
• 37:44
SPEAKER_04: But for me, I'm I'm a big fan of buying it like BG was saying, buying it all in the family.
• 37:50
SPEAKER_04: If I bought Tropical Gets primer and paint and clear coat, I know that all these guys are gonna work together.
• 37:56
SPEAKER_04: I'm a big fan of doing that, so I don't have a problem because I've done it the other way.
• 38:00
SPEAKER_04: You know, this used this product over that product with that product and had problems.
• 38:04
SPEAKER_04: But uh just you know, food for thought.
• 38:06
SPEAKER_04: That might be something that you could consider.
• 38:08
SPEAKER_09: We have we I mean shit, we pump a lot of primer, but we they're in the big cans.
• 38:12
SPEAKER_09: But I never really thought about the small can, to be honest with you.
• 38:15
SPEAKER_04: That would be the a price conscious thing, and now now the Mr.
• 38:18
SPEAKER_04: Surfacer Black is becoming more and more difficult to get.
• 38:22
SPEAKER_04: I don't know how long that's gonna work, but uh black primer right now, the Mr.
• 38:27
SPEAKER_04: Surfacer, it's a great product, but it's it's getting more and more difficult to find, more expensive.
• 38:32
SPEAKER_04: And rumor has it that it's not gonna be able to get it at all soon.
• 38:35
SPEAKER_04: So don't get me started on Mr.
• 38:37
SPEAKER_12: Hobby products right now, man.
• 38:40
  SPEAKER_09: They make good stuff.
• 38:41
SPEAKER_12: They make they make excellent quality stuff, but the thing is they're cutting back and they're not gonna be sending as much product into the United States as they have been after the f after the turn of the year.
• 38:51
  SPEAKER_12: I don't know why.
• 38:52
  SPEAKER_12: That's just that's just what we've been told.
• 38:54
SPEAKER_12: So um, yeah, it does suck because it's an amazing product.
• 38:58
SPEAKER_10: You just gotta spend the long dollar and just buy it, you know.
• 39:01
SPEAKER_10: I buy it on e I buy it on eBay, you pay more for it.
• 39:04
SPEAKER_10: But if you got a hobby shop out of China or overseas that can get it, then that's your route, you know.
• 39:09
SPEAKER_10: But I've been buying it up too and stockpiling it because it's really good stuff.
• 39:16
SPEAKER_12: Jody doesn't have any canned food for when the apocalypse comes.
• 39:19
SPEAKER_12: But for that black primer.
• 39:22
SPEAKER_10: I I got enough paint, I've got enough primer to carry me to uh the grave for sure.
• 39:26
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
• 39:29
  SPEAKER_12: Nice.
• 39:30
SPEAKER_12: Hey, I tell you what, let's take a quick uh vendor break and we'll be right back after this massage.
• 39:36
SPEAKER_12: Message, message, a meant message.
• 39:38
  SPEAKER_12: No massage.

• 40:32
  SPEAKER_12: Welcome back, folks.
• 40:33
SPEAKER_12: Thanks for sticking around to that little spot there.
• 40:35
SPEAKER_12: We are talking with Manny from Tropical Glitz, and he is giving us a lowdown on what's going on with him and his company.
• 40:41
SPEAKER_12: I can sympathize with purchasing a 30,000 square foot building because my boss did that last year and we're reaping the benefits of that still, and that's gotta be a nail-biting situation.
• 40:52
SPEAKER_12: Um, so is that gonna be more mainly for like your your automotive stuff, or is that gonna be for your your paint warehouse?
• 40:58
SPEAKER_09: So we've been in this building for three years.
• 41:01
  SPEAKER_09: Right.
• 41:02
SPEAKER_09: And we we occupy 10,000 square feet.
• 41:05
SPEAKER_09: So now we're gonna occupy another five.
• 41:08
SPEAKER_09: But that whole building is for us for to expand in manufacturing.
• 41:11
  SPEAKER_09: Okay.
• 41:15
SPEAKER_09: There's a part of it that's gonna be set up just for the hobby for the the modeling community.
• 41:20
SPEAKER_09: But we have equipment that we're scaling from the 55 gallon batches that we're making of paint.
• 41:24
SPEAKER_09: We're gonna start making 150 batches, 150 gallon batches.
• 41:28
SPEAKER_09: And then I bought a conveyor system.
• 41:31
SPEAKER_09: So right now, you know, we fill a lot of these bottles by hand, or I have a little machine that does it like semi-automatic.
• 41:38
SPEAKER_09: We bought a fully automatic machine that will do I think it was like 132 bottles in 20 minutes.
• 41:45
SPEAKER_09: And it's just filling the bottle, putting the cap on it, twisting it, and then running it to the thermal seal to seal that little aluminum, you know, that little foil that we have on the on the bottom.
• 41:56
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 41:56
SPEAKER_09: So it's a little bit of everything, if that makes sense.
• 42:00
SPEAKER_09: But our main business is still automotive.
• 42:03
SPEAKER_09: So that's kind of where we have, and for us to scale up our our manufacturing and to buy more in both.
• 42:10
SPEAKER_09: We have I was telling Mike, these little cans we got.
• 42:14
SPEAKER_09: I have 42 pallets of aerosol cans coming from Germany, empty cans coming from Germany the second, I think it's the first or second week of September.
• 42:25
SPEAKER_09: So we also need the space for the amount of product that we're coming in and moving.
• 42:30
  SPEAKER_12: Right, okay.
• 42:30
SPEAKER_12: I didn't think of that product on here, because you you you have to put it in something and then it has to sit sit around until you're able to use it, so that makes total sense.
• 42:40
SPEAKER_09: And six thousand cans a month is is now during our slow season.
• 42:43
SPEAKER_09: Summer is a very slow season for us.
• 42:46
  SPEAKER_09: Really?
• 42:47
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's a very slow season.
• 42:49
SPEAKER_09: Now we start ramping up, business ramps up and picks up uh like winter months, because that's where the majority of people in the country bring their cars in, fix them up and enjoy them.
• 43:02
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 43:02
  SPEAKER_03: It's drive time.
• 43:05
SPEAKER_03: They want to share that shit off in the summer.
• 43:09
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 43:10
SPEAKER_12: Well, in the in the hobby, I mean it it kind of picks up during the wintertime because folks can't really go outside so much and all that jazz, so they're they're sequestered inside with their with their little fumes and um doing their things.
• 43:23
SPEAKER_12: Unless you live in Arizona, that's when you go outside is in the wintertime.
• 43:27
  SPEAKER_12: Or Florida.
• 43:28
  SPEAKER_09: Florida's the same way.
• 43:29
  SPEAKER_09: Florida.
• 43:30
SPEAKER_09: I go out in the I go out in the wintertime.
• 43:33
SPEAKER_09: I don't drive my classic cars during this time.
• 43:35
SPEAKER_09: Well, the Pontiac has no air conditioning, but I don't drive it because it's too hot.
• 43:39
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 43:40
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 43:40
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 43:41
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 43:42
SPEAKER_12: Well, hey, if you need uh photo references of uh old rotten tires, I can just walk around the neighborhood and p and uh send you some pictures.
• 43:49
  SPEAKER_12: No, no, no.
• 43:49
SPEAKER_03: Old rotten, not old melted to the asphalt.
• 43:52
  SPEAKER_12: Right, yeah, yeah.
• 43:53
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there is a difference.
• 43:55
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 43:56
SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna send you some pictures of some gooey tires.
• 44:00
  SPEAKER_12: That's awesome.
• 44:01
SPEAKER_12: So uh what kind of stuff do you have on the bench there, Manny?
• 44:05
SPEAKER_12: What are you working on?
• 44:07
SPEAKER_09: I'm working on uh uh a 61 Ford Galaxy and then this one I cut a convertible.
• 44:16
SPEAKER_09: I didn't put a boot because I don't like the boot, so I just ended up making a simple out of styling, just a simple finishing for the Chrome.
• 44:23
SPEAKER_09: And then this was one of the this was an AMT styling kit.
• 44:28
  SPEAKER_09: So three and one.
• 44:30
  SPEAKER_09: Okay.
• 44:30
SPEAKER_09: So I kind of looked at some of the options it came with.
• 44:33
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 44:34
  SPEAKER_09: It's a little bit more custom.
• 44:38
SPEAKER_09: And then that's what I've been working on.
• 44:40
SPEAKER_09: The other stuff I did recently.
• 44:41
SPEAKER_09: I'm really hard to get this because I I only work here a couple hours a week sometimes, if I any, depending on the on the workload from work.
• 44:49
SPEAKER_09: Um, the last two other projects I did was one was a Jimmy Flintstone resin body, a little shorty C10, like us uh not C10, it was a little shorty suburban, Tudor Suburban.
• 45:00
SPEAKER_09: Yep, yeah, and a green Lincoln station wagon.
• 45:04
SPEAKER_09: Oh Lincoln Continental that you can it's either build it as a Lincoln Continental convertible or build it as a station wagon, as a concept.
• 45:11
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, so I built a cool kit, yeah, yeah.
• 45:15
SPEAKER_09: And then I got this one.
• 45:16
SPEAKER_09: I want to wrap this up because this is gonna go on acne, and then I I have a custom display.
• 45:20
SPEAKER_09: So I usually like to put my models on, like I'll show you guys.
• 45:23
SPEAKER_09: I'll make a a panel, you know, just these are panels that I make at work and will custom paint it for people how to do.
• 45:31
SPEAKER_09: So this eventually is gonna have a model car on it, and that's what I've been doing at shows just because I do a video, and I think it's nice to have a model car, so it's almost like a carpet, it mimics the idea of a carpet at a car show.
• 45:43
SPEAKER_09: Right, right, right, yeah, yeah.
• 45:45
SPEAKER_09: So for this one, and I audience can't see.
• 45:49
SPEAKER_09: So I got two circles and some stars, and these stars are more like uh the atomic style 1960 stars.
• 45:57
SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, so we're gonna have atomic desert's my favorite style, yeah.
• 46:01
SPEAKER_09: Offset with a car on display and the stars, and then this will be painted flaked out with pearls and custom painting, and the car will be here like on the display.
• 46:13
SPEAKER_09: Almost like if you went to a concept.
• 46:14
SPEAKER_12: Oh, the old Motoramas, yeah.
• 46:17
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, exactly.
• 46:17
SPEAKER_09: Imagine this being on display.
• 46:20
SPEAKER_09: So when you look at it, you're like, Oh, wow, this is like so it's the same thing, like what I see in the real cars that Grand National people do different displays.
• 46:27
SPEAKER_09: I kind of want to do something like that because I I enjoy painting this, and it's nice to kind of give everything like a whole vibe to it, if that makes sense.
• 46:35
SPEAKER_03: Very similar to the uh this is like the current the car modelers version of the armor model is creating a scenic base for their tanks.
• 46:43
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yep, yep, that's a good pretty cool that is a that's exactly exactly it.
• 46:50
SPEAKER_09: It it kind of ties the whole the whole thing together, yeah.
• 46:53
  SPEAKER_09: And I dig it.
• 46:54
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, something different.
• 46:56
SPEAKER_12: So I'm wondering what's your preferred type of clear coats to be using.
• 47:00
SPEAKER_09: For me, I I like automotive clear, man.
• 47:02
SPEAKER_09: Like, yeah, you can bulletproof too.
• 47:05
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, this is a 2K clear.
• 47:07
SPEAKER_09: This is a SPI production clear.
• 47:10
  SPEAKER_09: This one was cool.
• 47:11
SPEAKER_09: This one, this is a dash.
• 47:13
SPEAKER_09: I know uh the audience can't see, so the little dash looks like a 2K because it's really shiny.
• 47:19
  SPEAKER_09: That's actually a 1k acrylic that I make in-house.
• 47:23
SPEAKER_09: And I've been struggling with this for a while.
• 47:25
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I've been struggling with this for a while because I wanted something really shiny, so you had a really high DOI depth of image.
• 47:31
SPEAKER_09: So this one came out great.
• 47:32
SPEAKER_09: It pinched a little bit, but what I'm gonna end up doing is most probably just scuffing it up with a maroon scotch pad and giving it another coat.
• 47:38
SPEAKER_09: I think the base was still kind of um not wet, but it was still evaporating the solvents, and then when I started in the clear, I ended up getting a little bit of a pinch.
• 47:48
  SPEAKER_09: But it's super shiny.
• 47:50
SPEAKER_09: It's I don't know if you guys can see it.
• 47:52
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's picking up a gloss on there.
• 47:54
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, well, I think I have it on Facebook, but it's super shiny for a 1k acrylic, and that was something I was trying to work on because acrylics look good, and then they start like dying back a little bit.
• 48:04
SPEAKER_09: And some guys are cool with that single stage look, but I wanted that really wet, and you look at it, it looks like it's wet armor all type of look.
• 48:13
SPEAKER_13: So but yeah, uh, this is kind of what I'm working on now.
• 48:17
SPEAKER_12: I'm familiar with that wet armor all look.
• 48:19
SPEAKER_12: My uncle used to armor all the bench seat in his pickup truck, and you know, back in the day we didn't have seat belts.
• 48:25
SPEAKER_12: So when he made a turn, I slid over next to him and it slid over to the door.
• 48:30
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, so I have this this 61 Galaxy.
• 48:33
SPEAKER_09: The next cars that I'm building, where are they?
• 48:36
  SPEAKER_09: Hold on.
• 48:36
  SPEAKER_09: I got them here.
• 48:37
  SPEAKER_09: It's a Chip Fu 60, I think it's a 65 Impala.
• 48:41
SPEAKER_09: That was that he did the imposter.
• 48:44
SPEAKER_09: I think that was built on a Corvette frame, something.
• 48:47
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh and I'm building a Pontiac Catalina.
• 48:50
  SPEAKER_09: There you go.
• 48:50
SPEAKER_09: I was drawing a blank, and I put so the Catalina's a custom, so we're gonna do seductive violet.
• 48:58
SPEAKER_09: Uh obviously, you can't, you know, this is a candy portion and the pearls are down here.
• 49:03
SPEAKER_09: Beautiful, and then this is for my wife's interior because she wants like it's a it's we're gonna build hers like a hot rod because she wants to paint the model and and for me to teach her, so it's alright.
• 49:14
SPEAKER_09: And then I'm gonna do this same color, seductive violet, with this color as an interior, because that kit kind of gives you the option of that bubble.
• 49:25
SPEAKER_09: They're not bubble with it, yeah.
• 49:27
SPEAKER_09: They're like uh it's like uh it's not a pill, I can't think of the name of it, but they're very tight little bubbles, little cubes, you know, it's very 60 style.
• 49:36
SPEAKER_09: So I want like do I do white?
• 49:38
SPEAKER_09: And then I said, Oh, maybe I'll do white with this.
• 49:40
SPEAKER_09: So if this if I spray this and it's too purple or too pink, I'll add, I'll make a bottle of white and then add a little bit of this to kind of give me more of a whitewashed, pinkish interior.
• 49:51
SPEAKER_09: Because I think that'll look great with the contrast of this.
• 49:54
SPEAKER_09: These colors so the seductive violet is it would be it would look like candy violet, and then these two colors, even this one, there's no pearls.
• 50:03
SPEAKER_09: I wanted a solid solid color, yeah.
• 50:06
SPEAKER_09: And then I'll I'll control the interior with me, you know, accents, just like this one.
• 50:11
SPEAKER_09: You know, this the this one we did if obviously podcast we did float or grown, and this is on the Lucas on that Lucas page where all the modelers are at.
• 50:21
SPEAKER_09: Floater grown with some candy fades, and then a little bit of gold rope string as piping.
• 50:27
SPEAKER_09: Oh nice, and um and no clear, just the the base coat itself has a nice sheen to it that you don't really need to put it, it kind of has that vinyl sheen to it, so it worked out really good.
• 50:38
  SPEAKER_12: It's perfect with semi-gloss sheen, yeah.
• 50:40
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I built a uh 56 nomad red with flames, and um that's got PPG DBC on it, and I just left the interior based.
• 50:51
SPEAKER_10: That's got just a really nice vinyl leather look to it.
• 50:55
SPEAKER_09: Well, are you incriminating yourself that you just use DBC clear from work for your model?
• 51:04
SPEAKER_10: It's it's uh no, it's from my uh personal stash.
• 51:08
SPEAKER_10: So I've been I do I've been doing the Kara a very, very long time, and I had that cord up, I had a pint of Victory Red I bought for a silver auto I had at the time.
• 51:19
SPEAKER_10: I was gonna paint the grill and do some stuff and never did.
• 51:22
SPEAKER_10: And I paid the long dollar for that, and that was a number of years ago.
• 51:25
  SPEAKER_10: It was just sitting.
• 51:26
SPEAKER_10: I was like, this nomad would look really good, this bright red.
• 51:29
SPEAKER_10: So and uh I painted the interior the same color and just left it in base and looked really nice.
• 51:35
SPEAKER_10: I'm big on sheens and finishes, you know.
• 51:38
  SPEAKER_09: And uh it's it's it's important.
• 51:40
SPEAKER_09: Look at hot rods, they'll have like four sheens in an engine bay, and that's what I love because you look at them like it's flat, semi-gloss, another sheen that I don't even know it has a name to it.
• 51:50
SPEAKER_09: Like it's just like wow.
• 51:52
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, yeah, it's important.
• 51:55
SPEAKER_12: It's a sheen one, sheen two, sheen three, Charlie Sheen.
• 52:00
  SPEAKER_10: Charlie Sheen.
• 52:01
  unknown: Right.
• 52:04
SPEAKER_12: Have you ever had a chance to vend at a uh at a model show yet?
• 52:09
  SPEAKER_09: So I don't prefer I don't I'd rather not be a vendor.
• 52:13
SPEAKER_09: I went to a model show and I supported Terry and his wife, STS decals.
• 52:18
SPEAKER_09: They're one of our leaders.
• 52:20
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
• 52:21
SPEAKER_09: So I went there and at the NL East at their booth, and I just had a little section and I just talked to people and educated people, you know.
• 52:29
  SPEAKER_09: Hey, what is this?
• 52:30
  SPEAKER_09: What's that?
• 52:30
SPEAKER_09: And then if they wanted to buy the paint and go go here and pay these people and they pick the color.
• 52:36
SPEAKER_09: I prefer not to sell because I really don't feel like I need to.
• 52:39
SPEAKER_09: I'd rather be at a show and enjoy the show and talk to people because I think the biggest issue right now is education.
• 52:44
SPEAKER_09: People, a lot of people have questions.
• 52:45
SPEAKER_09: So, like if you see me at a show, they won't if it's a show like acne, Terry and his wife are gonna be there.
• 52:51
SPEAKER_09: But if you see me at a show, I won't have any product on my table because I won't sell.
• 52:55
SPEAKER_09: Same thing when you go to uh Grand National Roaster Show.
• 52:57
  SPEAKER_09: I don't sell paint.
• 52:59
SPEAKER_09: And they're just showing colors, and people can say, Oh wow, look at this color, and we explain it to them and we say if you like the color, you can go on our website.
• 53:05
SPEAKER_09: But it's really more education.
• 53:07
SPEAKER_09: A lot of people need to understand what they're committing to, especially if you're gonna buy a$1,700 gallon worth of paint.
• 53:14
SPEAKER_09: Same thing in the hobby.
• 53:15
SPEAKER_09: If you're gonna buy a little bottle, you want to kind of know what you're getting into.
• 53:18
SPEAKER_09: And I want to make sure you have the best results because if you buy the bottle and you your results are crappy, you're never gonna buy from us.
• 53:25
SPEAKER_09: You're gonna tell all your friends it sucks, and you're going, Manny, I hate Manny, you know, even though they don't know me.
• 53:30
SPEAKER_09: And then I'd rather say, Look, I don't even want to sell you shit.
• 53:34
SPEAKER_09: Let me just explain to you how this works, how to get the results I get, and you go home and try it at your at your time.
• 53:39
SPEAKER_09: You know what I'm saying?
• 53:40
  SPEAKER_13: Right.
• 53:41
  SPEAKER_13: You order.
• 53:42
SPEAKER_09: I'll be at I'll be at Acme.
• 53:44
  SPEAKER_09: I'm not gonna have a booth.
• 53:45
SPEAKER_09: STS will be selling our product, I'll actually be walking around just talking to people, and uh we'll have a bunch of free stickers at their table for people to come by and grab and stuff like that.
• 53:55
SPEAKER_12: I really appreciate that philosophy of of being more on the education side of it rather than the sales side of it.
• 54:00
  SPEAKER_12: That's that's huge.
• 54:02
SPEAKER_12: That's huge because people that are tracking into airbrushing, maybe experience airbrushes, but they're not used to using that particular type of product, they need to know how to do it.
• 54:10
SPEAKER_12: And sometimes you don't want to take the time and money to experiment on that.
• 54:14
SPEAKER_12: As Jody would say, you don't want to spend the long dollar on the on a second model kit to start all over again.
• 54:18
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and then this is another thing I didn't I didn't mention.
• 54:23
SPEAKER_09: When you're selling at a show, you're too busy taking the transaction of the money.
• 54:28
  SPEAKER_09: Oh, here's the bottle, here's that.
• 54:29
SPEAKER_09: And there might be a guy standing next to you that might have a simple five-minute question or two, or just a simple question you can answer in a couple, yeah, but you're too busy with the transaction of the of the cash, and that guy just gets like eventually goes, Oh, fuck this, he walks away.
• 54:42
SPEAKER_10: It sends the wrong message, right?
• 54:46
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I yeah, who goes the best buy and you're standing there, and you just want to ask the guy, hey, where's this adapter for USB?
• 54:51
SPEAKER_09: And you're standing there, and the guy's just too busy, and you I'm not gonna interrupt, he's with another customer, but there's no one else to help me.
• 54:57
SPEAKER_09: So eventually I say, you know what?
• 54:58
SPEAKER_09: I just I walk away and I order on Amazon, and I said, I'd rather not go there.
• 55:02
SPEAKER_09: So I'd rather just talk to the people, and when people see I'm just educating, they can still listen to the conversation.
• 55:07
SPEAKER_09: So sometimes I'm talking to you about one thing, I might have two or three guys hurtling around that other guy to listen to what I'm saying it, and they're like, Oh, I didn't know that.
• 55:15
SPEAKER_09: And then either they were interested, they were just being nosy, or they say, Hey, you know what?
• 55:20
SPEAKER_09: Thank you for that information, and they walk away, and maybe they never use our product, but they learn something new from me to apply whatever they're doing better.
• 55:27
SPEAKER_09: So exactly it's really I'm that's really what I like to do in the shows.
• 55:32
SPEAKER_09: I think it just might run into me at a at Tampa, and I was just walking around with my family, you know, and um same thing.
• 55:40
SPEAKER_09: N and OEs, I wasn't selling, but I I was stuck in behind that because I I wanted to buy because you you get some good deals at that show, and bro, I couldn't buy.
• 55:50
SPEAKER_09: I think I bought two, three kits real quick, but I missed so much at that show that I was like, at ACME, I don't want to do that again.
• 55:57
SPEAKER_09: So acme I'm gonna just throw a bunch of stickers on a table and walk around, and people catch me, they can catch me walking around.
• 56:04
SPEAKER_04: Jason, how many times did how many times did I grab you or you grab me and we walk over to see to go see him when he was at the uh NNL East next to the STS thing?
• 56:12
SPEAKER_04: We're like, uh, he's just too busy.
• 56:14
SPEAKER_04: There was people standing all around and trying to talk to him.
• 56:16
SPEAKER_04: I was like, Yeah, it was crazy.
• 56:18
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was crazy.
• 56:19
SPEAKER_09: And I told my buddy that the the guy that you see, he won't be with in acne, but he travels with me everywhere.
• 56:24
SPEAKER_09: I go, how do you think the how was your first model car show?
• 56:27
  SPEAKER_08: And he started laughing.
• 56:28
SPEAKER_08: Go, shit, that was a lot of work, bro.
• 56:32
SPEAKER_08: We we sold so much paint and we didn't even walk away with a dollar, it actually cost me more to fly you and me here as and then it was funny.
• 56:40
SPEAKER_09: But I think I think it was really good for Terry and his wife because I I I told Terry, I go, Terry, how did you guys do?
• 56:48
  SPEAKER_09: We did really good.
• 56:49
  SPEAKER_09: We broke records.
• 56:50
SPEAKER_09: I go, oh yeah, good, good, good.
• 56:52
SPEAKER_09: He goes, I don't know if it was you guys or if it was just the paint, but we made a lot of sales and we laughed because me and my friend goes, Yeah, I think it was us, but it was kind of funny because Terry, you know, Terry's all over the place, but it was a great show, and a lot of people walked.
• 57:07
SPEAKER_09: I felt like a lot of people walked away understanding a little bit better of what we do and what what our product is, you know what I'm saying?
• 57:15
  SPEAKER_12: Awesome.
• 57:15
  SPEAKER_12: I got a question for you.
• 57:17
SPEAKER_12: I love the look of a uh high flight bass boat paint job.
• 57:22
SPEAKER_12: Do you have anything like that in your uh in your uh in your inventory?
• 57:26
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we do.
• 57:27
SPEAKER_09: So we have we have aerosol cans and 004.
• 57:31
SPEAKER_09: 004 would be if you look at to the scale 124, 125, will be like the equivalence of a 015, maybe a 0.25 flake.
• 57:40
SPEAKER_09: 0.25 was your old school 1960s jumbo flake.
• 57:44
SPEAKER_09: 0.15 is still a pretty big flake.
• 57:46
SPEAKER_09: Then we have a 002 that's not available to the market that's gonna come out in this paint line, not in all the colors, because it it gets really expensive when you start cutting to that size uh glitter because glitter is technically PET plastic that's foiled.
• 58:03
SPEAKER_09: It's um what's the name of that process that goes through?
• 58:06
SPEAKER_09: It is like anodized, it's electroestatic anodized and it's in chrome and it and it gets anodized in colors.
• 58:13
SPEAKER_09: Uh it's I wouldn't say it's a vacuum plating, but it's in that realm, but not vacuum, the chemical bath.
• 58:20
SPEAKER_09: Um, so yeah, I'll have a smaller scale flake that'll give you that sparkle.
• 58:27
SPEAKER_09: Now, if you're like Manny, I kind of want it now.
• 58:28
SPEAKER_09: I tell guys just buy our comet silver that's already has that ingredient in there and spray your candy, and that's how you get that really nice.
• 58:37
SPEAKER_09: If you want something more, go to the the Metal Flake spray cans or buy the little jars of Metal Flake in 004 that we pretty much offer like 132 colors, different shades of color in that size, and uh spray it out of a little touch-up gun.
• 58:54
SPEAKER_09: Okay, just get ready for a little bit of texture.
• 58:58
SPEAKER_09: You have to kind of be comfortable with that.
• 59:01
  SPEAKER_02: Okay.
• 59:01
SPEAKER_09: Usually the low rider guys, the guys out west manage that very well on the scales, like on the model cars, they know how to do it.
• 59:08
SPEAKER_09: And they're good at not losing the detail because they won't do the whole body.
• 59:12
SPEAKER_09: You kind of do the roof, so you don't start having all that excessive film on the body, and you'll start losing details on the roof of these models.
• 59:20
SPEAKER_09: If you're smart about how you tape it, you can tape it, do it really well, and not have excessive buildup that it'll make the car look just like one big blob.
• 59:29
  SPEAKER_12: Makes sense.
• 59:29
  SPEAKER_12: Makes sense.
• 59:30
  SPEAKER_12: Okay, cool.
• 59:31
SPEAKER_12: Well, I'm glad to know you have something out there that I can get my hands on then.
• 59:34
SPEAKER_12: So I got a dune buggy that I just want to do a just this deep metallic red, you know, with giant flake in it.
• 59:41
SPEAKER_09: So oh, that's easy, bro.
• 59:42
SPEAKER_09: When you're ready for that, you tell me and I'll kind of set you, I'll point you in the right direction so you have like a really good result with it.
• 59:48
  SPEAKER_12: Okay, podcast's over.
• 59:49
SPEAKER_12: We're gonna go hang out now.
• 59:54
SPEAKER_04: So thank you very much.
• 59:55
SPEAKER_04: Talking about that, I just got that mud truck that Jason did from our good friend Matthew at MCV Products, and I picked up the phone and called Manny because he gave me such great tips on the Ape.
• 1:00:08
SPEAKER_04: Oh I said, Listen, I want to make this thing look like a 70s bass boat because some of those old mud trucks were like that, you know, had a big metal flake in them, they were just wild paint jobs.
• 1:00:18
SPEAKER_04: And he was like, Let me think about it, I'll point you in the right direction.
• 1:00:21
SPEAKER_04: So this is kind of me like bragging about Manny gonna help me out, and it might be a reminder, Manny.
• 1:00:27
SPEAKER_04: You haven't sent me those colors yet.
• 1:00:28
SPEAKER_04: Let me know which ones to get.
• 1:00:30
SPEAKER_04: Let me listen which ones to get, I'll get them.
• 1:00:32
SPEAKER_09: I have uh Andy the modular, he I think he's like in Jersey or something, he's up there, and he he sent me a picture of a car.
• 1:00:39
SPEAKER_09: And I go, give me a chance, give me your number, I'll call you later today.
• 1:00:42
SPEAKER_09: Because sometimes I have to.
• 1:00:43
SPEAKER_09: I'm multitasking, so I gotta kind of go through everything I'm going through.
• 1:00:47
SPEAKER_09: But I completely forgot about that, Mike.
• 1:00:49
SPEAKER_09: I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna lie to you, bro.
• 1:00:51
SPEAKER_09: That's open on my list of priorities fast.
• 1:00:54
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I'm sure.
• 1:00:55
  SPEAKER_09: I'm sure.
• 1:00:55
SPEAKER_09: But no, we'll make we'll make it happen.
• 1:00:57
  SPEAKER_09: I'll get I'll get you right.
• 1:00:58
SPEAKER_03: I'm scrolling through your site right now.
• 1:01:00
SPEAKER_03: My kids for Father's Day, they got me that pulled pork Chevy truck thing.
• 1:01:05
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:01:06
SPEAKER_03: So I'm I'm looking through all of your pinks to to find out which pink I want to put on that sucker.
• 1:01:13
SPEAKER_12: Oh, you mean the one with the tires that are directional?
• 1:01:16
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you want a solid pink, or you think you want like a uh a pearl pink or something?
• 1:01:23
SPEAKER_09: It's gonna be a pearl pink, yeah.
• 1:01:24
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you got a couple pinks.
• 1:01:26
SPEAKER_09: You got certified gangster is a really nice pink color.
• 1:01:29
SPEAKER_09: That looks killer, and then coral reef has a little bit of a violet flop.
• 1:01:34
SPEAKER_09: So if you're if you're okay with the violet flop, yeah, I like that idea too.
• 1:01:37
SPEAKER_03: All sorts of options that I'm like, and that's a really that's a really cool kit, dude.
• 1:01:44
SPEAKER_09: That kit that you're talking about.
• 1:01:46
SPEAKER_09: I saw it, it I think Hobby Lobby is the one who has it, and I was like, uh and I'm like, I was on the fence, but then I went crazy and I bought a bunch of T birds, so I kind of said, Oh, maybe next time.
• 1:01:55
  SPEAKER_12: Robbie.com.
• 1:02:01
  SPEAKER_12: Whoa!
• 1:02:05
SPEAKER_08: We just realized, sorry, bro.
• 1:02:07
  SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's right.
• 1:02:08
  unknown: That's right.
• 1:02:11
SPEAKER_12: We know all about that.
• 1:02:13
  SPEAKER_12: All right.
• 1:02:15
SPEAKER_12: Manny, yes, one more question for you.
• 1:02:17
  SPEAKER_08: Show it away.
• 1:02:18
SPEAKER_12: If you have a model kit in your stash that you could have as a one-to-one car in your dryhoy, what would it be?
• 1:02:25
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's easy.
• 1:02:26
SPEAKER_04: He doesn't have it yet because he's got to come to O'Cala to get it.
• 1:02:32
SPEAKER_12: He's giving us the wait a second, sign right.
• 1:02:34
SPEAKER_12: He's going to get it.
• 1:02:36
SPEAKER_03: Did he go into a refrigerator?
• 1:02:37
  SPEAKER_03: No, that's a paint.
• 1:02:39
  SPEAKER_12: That's a paint locker.
• 1:02:40
SPEAKER_12: I recognize you recognize that, Justin.
• 1:02:41
  SPEAKER_12: That's a paint locker.
• 1:02:42
  SPEAKER_12: Is that a Mrs.
• 1:02:43
SPEAKER_12: Pac-Man video game back there?
• 1:02:45
SPEAKER_12: It would be a Hudson Hornet.
• 1:02:48
  SPEAKER_12: Oh, Hudson Hornet.
• 1:02:50
  SPEAKER_12: Oh, nice.
• 1:02:50
  SPEAKER_12: The Mobius one's nice.
• 1:02:52
SPEAKER_03: That is a fabulous choice.
• 1:02:54
  SPEAKER_03: Yes.
• 1:02:55
  SPEAKER_09: Fabulous Hudson Hornet.
• 1:02:57
  SPEAKER_02: I got that, Justin.
• 1:02:58
  SPEAKER_02: I got that.
• 1:02:59
SPEAKER_09: Uh, I saw how what museum I was.
• 1:03:01
SPEAKER_09: I was in Detroit, and we went to a private museum only, own opens once a week.
• 1:03:06
  SPEAKER_09: It is not okay.
• 1:03:08
  SPEAKER_09: I'm in Detroit Autorama.
• 1:03:10
SPEAKER_09: Shoot, what's the name of the museum?
• 1:03:11
SPEAKER_09: Whatever, I can't think of the name of the museum.
• 1:03:13
  SPEAKER_09: Great museum.
• 1:03:14
SPEAKER_09: And the dude, part of his collection, was a convertible 1950 or 51 Hudson Hornet.
• 1:03:21
  SPEAKER_09: Uh double carburetor.
• 1:03:23
SPEAKER_09: I forgot the power plant.
• 1:03:24
SPEAKER_09: The car was just the and I looked at it.
• 1:03:26
SPEAKER_09: I told my buddy, I love this.
• 1:03:29
SPEAKER_09: This is this is exactly what I like.
• 1:03:31
SPEAKER_09: And then I also like cars that not everybody has.
• 1:03:33
SPEAKER_09: Like I can buy a 51 convertible Chevy or a 50 Chevy convertible, but I decided to buy yeah, or a hardtop, but I bought a 50 Pontiac.
• 1:03:41
  SPEAKER_09: Nobody rocks the Pontiac.
• 1:03:43
SPEAKER_09: Pontiacs have a lot of chrome, they're real nice.
• 1:03:45
SPEAKER_09: They were the top trim package from General Motors at that time.
• 1:03:50
SPEAKER_09: So I would say it would be a Hudson Hornet, dude.
• 1:03:52
SPEAKER_09: The car is just timeless.
• 1:03:54
  SPEAKER_09: It's great.
• 1:03:56
SPEAKER_09: And that you don't you don't go to shows and you see you don't see a thousand Hudson Hornets.
• 1:03:59
SPEAKER_02: No, you know what I'm saying?
• 1:04:00
SPEAKER_09: Like that's kind of and I have the kit, and that would be the the car I would love to own in person.
• 1:04:06
SPEAKER_12: One of the cars a solid cast iron uh inline eight engine, both uh block and head is cast iron.
• 1:04:13
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, it's a 1200-pound engine right there.
• 1:04:17
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 1:04:17
  SPEAKER_09: You know what?
• 1:04:18
SPEAKER_09: I don't have to go fast, I just gotta look good while I'm doing it, you know.
• 1:04:21
  SPEAKER_09: Yeah, right.
• 1:04:23
  SPEAKER_09: A really pretty car.
• 1:04:24
SPEAKER_12: My my thing is if you're if you're driving fast, people can't appreciate your vehicle because you're going by too quick too quickly.
• 1:04:31
  SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
• 1:04:32
SPEAKER_09: But I have I have a taste for a lot of I have a lot of models that I would love to have as a real car.
• 1:04:37
SPEAKER_09: Obviously, then I I'm single and I have to pay alimony, but whatever, you know, you gotta choose what you're gonna do.
• 1:04:46
SPEAKER_09: But that would be a real nice car to have, and I think I can kind of twist my wife's arm about having it because you'll enjoy driving her around with the top down.
• 1:04:55
SPEAKER_12: Oh, I I could I could see her enjoying just cruising around on that with the scarf around the hair and everything, you know.
• 1:05:01
  SPEAKER_12: Classic style.
• 1:05:02
  SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
• 1:05:03
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 1:05:04
  SPEAKER_12: Nice.
• 1:05:04
  SPEAKER_12: Okay, good.
• 1:05:05
  SPEAKER_12: Excellent choice.
• 1:05:06
SPEAKER_12: I tell you what, guys, uh, let's take another vendor spotlight break and we'll be right back with uh some housekeeping.
• 1:05:12
SPEAKER_12: And we'll be back in a second.
• 1:05:15
SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, this is Rob Ribb, host of the Modeling Insanity podcast.
• 1:05:19
SPEAKER_01: Need a little something extra for your next model car build?
• 1:05:22
SPEAKER_01: Look no further than our friends at VTG Residence by Reese.
• 1:05:25
SPEAKER_01: VCG Residence by Reeds offers over 300 highly detailed cars available for that next model car, truck, or diorama building out of place.
• 1:05:34
SPEAKER_01: Ready to go for it?
• 1:05:35
  SPEAKER_01: What does that mean?
• 1:05:36
SPEAKER_01: That means you can go for unpacking your car toward the building in those cars.
• 1:06:00
SPEAKER_01: Aye and tell Josh hi from the Maniacs.
• 1:06:02
SPEAKER_01: VCG Resins by Reese, parts that stand out, service that stands by you.
• 1:06:07
SPEAKER_01: VCG Resins is a proud supporter of the Model Car Mania podcast.
• 1:06:12
  SPEAKER_12: And welcome back, folks.
• 1:06:13
SPEAKER_12: Thanks for sticking around yet again.
• 1:06:15
SPEAKER_12: We are still hanging out with Manny from Tropical Glitz, but right now we're gonna get on to some housekeeping.
• 1:06:20
SPEAKER_12: We're gonna talk about what's on our benches.
• 1:06:23
SPEAKER_12: We're gonna start off with Mike because he's playing with his phone.
• 1:06:26
  SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm doing.
• 1:06:28
SPEAKER_04: I am working on the uh well, we call it the ape, I guess it's been called, but it's the ape.
• 1:06:35
  SPEAKER_04: Is that right, guys?
• 1:06:36
SPEAKER_04: Am I saying it right?
• 1:06:36
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, French.
• 1:06:37
SPEAKER_04: You know it's French for ape, right?
• 1:06:39
  SPEAKER_04: It's French for ape.
• 1:06:40
SPEAKER_04: But I'm working on the Ape, I've got it all done.
• 1:06:43
SPEAKER_04: Uh, this is the build that I'm uh putting into the I'm gonna submit.
• 1:06:47
SPEAKER_04: I'm not guaranteed, but I'm gonna submit it to our good friend Rob Riv, and he's possibly going to get it into the uh magazine, which I'm real excited about that.
• 1:06:56
SPEAKER_04: But uh since we have Manny here, uh one of the coolest parts about this is I have the chassis painted in tropical glitz seductive blue, and the chassis is painted in a lollipop orange, and they both came out extremely well.
• 1:07:10
SPEAKER_04: They look great colors, great contrast.
• 1:07:13
SPEAKER_04: I don't know if he did it because he knows I'm a gator fan, orange and blue.
• 1:07:16
SPEAKER_04: I don't know if he did that on purpose or not, but it uh really came out really nice.
• 1:07:21
SPEAKER_04: I've been working on that, it's finally done.
• 1:07:23
SPEAKER_04: We're gonna take some pictures of it.
• 1:07:25
SPEAKER_04: Uh, I've got my propel bottle to build the windshield out of.
• 1:07:28
SPEAKER_04: Jason, I know, did you go back and put the windshield in yours?
• 1:07:31
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, no, sir.
• 1:07:32
SPEAKER_04: I know that uh Irv put that propel bottle in there, so I've got me my propel bottle and I'm going to um put that in there and put the glass in it.
• 1:07:42
SPEAKER_04: And I'm really excited about seeing that get done and submit the pictures into the magazine and all the products that I used.
• 1:07:48
SPEAKER_04: And uh actually uh last on the Sunday, uh Sunday show, I started working back on this.
• 1:07:55
SPEAKER_04: Um I dare say the word scratch built, but I'm probably somebody'll throw a rock at me if I say scratch built, so I'm gonna say um kit bashed uh independent suspension on the pacer that is going to acne this year, which of course is the hell pacer, but I'm building some uh independent rear suspens the hell the thunder bubble.
• 1:08:16
  SPEAKER_04: The thunder bubble.
• 1:08:18
SPEAKER_04: I'm probably gonna have to change the name to Thunder Bubble because that's just yeah.
• 1:08:22
SPEAKER_04: But uh working on the uh rear independent suspension for that, getting it all tied up so we can throw some color on it, get it all put together.
• 1:08:30
SPEAKER_04: Uh most of the scratch work or uh bat kit bash work is done on it, and I'm really excited about putting everything together and see how it comes out.
• 1:08:39
SPEAKER_04: It's got the MCV products Hellcat uh or excuse me, Heliphant motor that's going in it as well.
• 1:08:47
  SPEAKER_04: Very sweet, man.
• 1:08:48
  SPEAKER_04: Um yeah.
• 1:08:49
  SPEAKER_12: I'm good.
• 1:08:50
  SPEAKER_12: All right.
• 1:08:53
SPEAKER_12: Something popped into my head and that was gonna be.
• 1:08:58
SPEAKER_12: Jason, how's about you, my friend?
• 1:09:00
SPEAKER_12: We haven't uh haven't heard what you got going on on your bench.
• 1:09:02
SPEAKER_11: Uh well, right now I've got I just finished the uh Hasegawa Sabur C9 Mercedes.
• 1:09:11
SPEAKER_11: I just wrapped that up.
• 1:09:12
SPEAKER_11: That was a nice quick, flat bottom, just a nice quick build.
• 1:09:17
SPEAKER_11: And I think it came out really nice.
• 1:09:18
SPEAKER_11: There's pictures of that on my Facebook page.
• 1:09:21
SPEAKER_11: I've got the Tamiya Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR that I've got in paint.
• 1:09:27
SPEAKER_11: Uh that I'm I've got this, I'm developing this new bad habit of painting something and then going, I don't know if I like that color.
• 1:09:35
SPEAKER_11: So I'm kind of right now struggling with it, but we'll see if it stays on there.
• 1:09:40
SPEAKER_11: And I've also started the Revell early bronco, the half cap one where you get the trailer in the Doom Buggy.
• 1:09:49
SPEAKER_11: I've I've got that, and I actually had a parts kit, the Baja Buster or whatever it was, the the uh the red, white, and blue Baja Bronco.
• 1:10:01
SPEAKER_11: I had a part I had a parts kit that I acquired somewhere over the past few years, and had a really good uh main body in it with the cutout rear wheel wells instead of the shorty ones.
• 1:10:14
SPEAKER_11: So I'm gonna use that and kind of give the half cab a different look.
• 1:10:18
  SPEAKER_11: Oh, cool.
• 1:10:19
SPEAKER_11: Yeah, that's I'm planning on making a lift kit for it.
• 1:10:24
SPEAKER_11: I've got some uh MCV product wheels and tires and an engine that's gonna go in it.
• 1:10:28
SPEAKER_11: So yeah, that's the stuff I got going on.
• 1:10:31
SPEAKER_11: I am trying to slow my s my pace down and take my time.
• 1:10:36
SPEAKER_11: So um no no real word on like how fast this stuff is gonna be put together, but it's what I'm working on regardless.
• 1:10:44
SPEAKER_12: So I'm kind of glad you're slowing it down a little bit, Tiki, you know, enjoying the build.
• 1:10:49
  SPEAKER_11: I'm trying I'm trying.
• 1:10:50
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 1:10:51
  SPEAKER_12: Good.
• 1:10:52
SPEAKER_12: You know, I actually ordered some stuff from MCW um MCV, excuse me, not MCW, MCV.
• 1:10:58
SPEAKER_12: Last week I got the Helephant engine and um those really awesome rally style Mopar wheels.
• 1:11:04
  SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
• 1:11:04
  SPEAKER_12: Oh, nice, yeah.
• 1:11:06
  SPEAKER_12: From my 71 duster.
• 1:11:07
  SPEAKER_12: Hey, you know what?
• 1:11:08
  SPEAKER_12: We'll talk about what I'm doing.
• 1:11:09
SPEAKER_12: Uh I got um GG, what's on your bench?
• 1:11:13
  SPEAKER_12: Thank you, Jody.
• 1:11:15
SPEAKER_12: Actually, sitting to just to my left here, I actually have the the the Buick Wildcat kit and also the uh 67 GT MPC kit, the GTO My sitting here.
• 1:11:28
SPEAKER_12: And this morning I finished up the exhaust system on the GTO My.
• 1:11:32
SPEAKER_12: Um, I used the aluminum wire, 2.5 millimeter aluminum wire to do the exhaust piping on that, and I ran it through um some glass packs that I got from MCV model car parts because those are molded hollow, so the wire passes right through that, no problem, and uh did all the bend-ups and everything I wanted to, and I'm willing to liking how it looks.
• 1:11:53
SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna post some pictures on the on our Facebook page for that, and then um I really have to oh shit.
• 1:12:02
  SPEAKER_12: Okay now.
• 1:12:03
SPEAKER_12: I'm looking at the car and I just realized they didn't put the firewall in the damn thing.
• 1:12:08
  SPEAKER_11: Rice oops, it's cursed!
• 1:12:11
SPEAKER_04: That kid is cursed, disassemble, disassemble, no disassemble, disassemble.
• 1:12:19
  SPEAKER_12: Thank you, Johnny Five.
• 1:12:22
SPEAKER_12: Well, at least the built's looking nice.
• 1:12:24
SPEAKER_12: I just have to finish that up.
• 1:12:25
SPEAKER_12: I finally got the the chassis on there.
• 1:12:28
SPEAKER_11: Just put that GTO Might up high, it'll take care of itself.
• 1:12:31
  unknown: Right, right.
• 1:12:32
SPEAKER_12: Like with the wheels, it doesn't roll.
• 1:12:34
  SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
• 1:12:35
SPEAKER_12: I'm gonna have to invite Chuck over and tell him whatever you do, don't touch that.
• 1:12:38
  SPEAKER_12: Right.
• 1:12:38
SPEAKER_12: Don't let him touch that.
• 1:12:40
SPEAKER_12: See what he does with it.
• 1:12:41
SPEAKER_12: But yeah, that's uh that's my bench.
• 1:12:43
SPEAKER_12: But I've been building a lot of Gundam lately just because it's you know a nice palette cleanser and it's been really stressful what's what's been going on with family stuff and um uh work stuff and everything.
• 1:12:54
SPEAKER_12: So just trying to I don't if I'm really stressed out, I don't want to sit at the bench because I'm just gonna mess up something and I'm gonna be even more annoyed.
• 1:13:02
SPEAKER_12: So I just I work on the Gundam things because those are all press fit things.
• 1:13:05
  SPEAKER_12: So that's me.
• 1:13:06
  SPEAKER_12: Justin, how's about you?
• 1:13:08
  SPEAKER_12: Still struggling.
• 1:13:10
SPEAKER_03: No, still uh still trying to find uh find the the Joe, the mojo.
• 1:13:16
SPEAKER_03: Um I got some figures that I've been working on to go along with my uh Tamiya SDKFZ armored car.
• 1:13:25
SPEAKER_03: This past weekend I pulled out a couple of dinosaurs.
• 1:13:29
SPEAKER_12: Um dinosaurs or model kit dinosaurs, like a like a stick of store.
• 1:13:34
SPEAKER_03: Actual Cretaceous period to scale models.
• 1:13:37
SPEAKER_03: Uh the one is from X kit, it's the Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park 3.
• 1:13:44
  SPEAKER_12: Oh, yeah.
• 1:13:45
SPEAKER_12: All right, I know that kit.
• 1:13:48
SPEAKER_03: So I I hate doing build days because I don't ever build, so I always have a hard time thinking of what to bring.
• 1:13:56
SPEAKER_03: So I will have dozens and dozens of started kits because I bring them to build days, because there's only so much you can do with a build day, you know.
• 1:14:06
SPEAKER_03: Um this is one of those X kit Spinosauruses, uh, fairly simple kit to build.
• 1:14:12
SPEAKER_03: Got it assembled most of the way there, finished it off at home, and I now have it in Black Primer, and I had a um Pegasus is the brand.
• 1:14:22
SPEAKER_03: It's a uh Triceratops, couldn't think of the name.
• 1:14:26
SPEAKER_03: Uh it's a triceratops, uh solid vinyl dinosaur 24 scale.
• 1:14:32
SPEAKER_03: This thing weighs probably close to four pounds of vinyl.
• 1:14:39
SPEAKER_03: You know, so um I I already had that built and all the joints filled and everything, so I put some primer down on him.
• 1:14:46
SPEAKER_03: I was like, all right, I'm gonna get into this.
• 1:14:48
SPEAKER_03: And then yeah, yeah, exactly.
• 1:14:53
SPEAKER_03: Went to birthday party for my kids at uh I'll call it my house, but it's currently where my ex-wife resides.
• 1:15:00
SPEAKER_03: Stayed there for a short amount of time, left, came back to my place, just hung out, and then uh Sunday I was like going gangbusters on these suckers in the morning.
• 1:15:10
SPEAKER_03: Then my kids came over, I took them out for dinner for their birthdays, and uh they kind of sat here on my bench waiting to become fuel.
• 1:15:19
SPEAKER_03: Uh so yeah, I mean I've got some dinosaurs.
• 1:15:23
SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to trying to find my way back to the bench, trying to turn it from something that was an escape to something that I enjoy again.
• 1:15:31
  SPEAKER_03: If probably makes sense.
• 1:15:32
SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
• 1:15:33
SPEAKER_03: It was an escape for freaking ever.
• 1:15:35
SPEAKER_03: You know, now that uh now that I'm just waiting for my certificate of completion by the marriage police, you know, I gotta I gotta find the fun again.
• 1:15:44
SPEAKER_12: I I I can sympathize with you because when I was going through issues a hundred years ago um with the ex-wife, my hobby became an escape as well.
• 1:15:54
SPEAKER_12: And then when I met and married Linda and then started, you know, looking around for another hobby again, it was hard for me to get started building because I had such a negative attachment to the whole being in the building space thing.
• 1:16:06
SPEAKER_12: And um, well, if you've seen my hobby room, you can tell I've gotten over that a little bit.
• 1:16:14
SPEAKER_12: That's it's not a green screen behind me, man.
• 1:16:17
  SPEAKER_12: That's that's actually the hobby room.
• 1:16:19
SPEAKER_03: And that's that's actually why you look great.
• 1:16:22
SPEAKER_03: I don't do a lot of building right now, but I didn't take a step back from any of the two podcasts that I'm on because it'll be hard to come back to that level as well.
• 1:16:33
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, that makes sense.
• 1:16:35
SPEAKER_03: While I'm not building, I'm not nearly as as active in the community as I was.
• 1:16:41
SPEAKER_03: I wanted to at least, you know, because I hate to say it, I have fans.
• 1:16:48
SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, there's two of us, and again, a couple of us, you know.
• 1:16:53
SPEAKER_03: Probably just one, especially after this episode.
• 1:16:58
SPEAKER_03: But no, I I wanted to make sure that everybody knew I was still around, still kicking.
• 1:17:03
  SPEAKER_03: I ain't giving up, you know.
• 1:17:05
SPEAKER_03: But now, you know, I started that modeling insanity group build, body build challenge, right?
• 1:17:11
SPEAKER_03: You know, and that's that's actually kind of where I'm at right now with that.
• 1:17:15
SPEAKER_03: I hit the gym four times a week now.
• 1:17:17
SPEAKER_03: You know, by the time I get home from the gym and get a shower, it's eight o'clock, so I'm like trying to figure out do I even want to cook something for dinner?
• 1:17:26
SPEAKER_03: And if I do, what and am I gonna sit at the bench just to sit there for 45 minutes and then go to bed?
• 1:17:32
  SPEAKER_03: No.
• 1:17:33
SPEAKER_03: So you know what I mean.
• 1:17:34
  SPEAKER_12: So I have a I have a suggestion.
• 1:17:37
SPEAKER_12: Look into uh freeze-dried food so you can rehydrate in the shower while you're taking a shower.
• 1:17:42
  SPEAKER_12: Oh yeah, good idea.
• 1:17:44
SPEAKER_12: And you can wash the dishes right there, yeah.
• 1:17:46
  SPEAKER_03: And do the dishes.
• 1:17:47
  SPEAKER_03: Look at that shit.
• 1:17:48
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, you're welcome.
• 1:17:49
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've been um I've just been doing uh Lucky Charms protein powder, making a protein shake.
• 1:17:58
  SPEAKER_12: Lucky Charms protein powder.
• 1:18:00
SPEAKER_03: I found Lucky Charms protein powder, and it does it does have the marshmallows in it.
• 1:18:08
SPEAKER_10: Nothing says delicious like head and shoulders shrimp scampi.
• 1:18:15
SPEAKER_12: Yeah, but the head and shoulders might take care of that lettuce issue we're having coming out of Mexico.
• 1:18:23
SPEAKER_03: And then you can use the Dove Bar body wash.
• 1:18:25
SPEAKER_11: Yeah, too much spicy lettuce coming up here.
• 1:18:30
SPEAKER_11: I'd like to jump in real quick and say thank you, Justin, for starting that.
• 1:18:34
  SPEAKER_11: No, you're welcome.
• 1:18:35
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:18:36
SPEAKER_11: Body body challenge deal, right?
• 1:18:38
SPEAKER_11: So it's for me, I started out walking and I got real bored with walking.
• 1:18:43
SPEAKER_11: And I switched to riding these little kid bikes around, and I just pedal around in my driveway every night for like a half an hour.
• 1:18:49
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
• 1:18:50
SPEAKER_11: Trying to teach myself to do the things I used to do when I was 13.
• 1:18:54
  SPEAKER_11: And I'm down like 10 pounds.
• 1:18:56
  SPEAKER_11: Nice.
• 1:18:57
  SPEAKER_11: Really?
• 1:18:58
  SPEAKER_11: Just from that, yeah.
• 1:18:59
SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah, it's really cool.
• 1:19:01
  SPEAKER_11: That's awesome.
• 1:19:02
SPEAKER_03: And uh, and that exercise that you're doing is that actually dropped me down about 30.
• 1:19:07
SPEAKER_03: So so um, yeah, I'm down about 30.
• 1:19:11
SPEAKER_03: I'm actually starting to see musculature that I haven't seen in forever.
• 1:19:14
SPEAKER_03: My clothes are looser now.
• 1:19:16
SPEAKER_13: So you've been together, buddy.
• 1:19:20
  SPEAKER_12: Hey, I thought I was losing.
• 1:19:22
  SPEAKER_12: I thought I was losing weight.
• 1:19:23
SPEAKER_11: It turns out Linda had two towels.
• 1:19:25
SPEAKER_11: He's like, hey, there's that thunder bubble.
• 1:19:31
SPEAKER_04: Well, I want to say the same thing, I want to say the same thing, Justin.
• 1:19:34
SPEAKER_04: You've actually inspired me as well.
• 1:19:36
SPEAKER_04: I'm on day three of no cigarettes.
• 1:19:38
SPEAKER_04: Nice, and the idea is to give the give up the cigarettes and get my my uh respiratory, uh uh my breathing is horrible.
• 1:19:47
SPEAKER_04: So I'm giving them up and then going to do what Jason did, start the walking thing and uh get a subscription to the gym.
• 1:19:53
SPEAKER_04: The plan is to get a subscription to the gym, get on the bike, and uh start doing that some low impact stuff because I treated my body like a honky tonk for 40 years instead of a temple.
• 1:20:04
SPEAKER_04: So I'm I I got to do low impact stuff between the bull riding and the and the motorcycle racing and all that stuff.
• 1:20:09
SPEAKER_04: I've beat myself up pretty good, but uh no, you you've inspired me, like I said, to give up cigarettes and uh go ahead and uh try to get try to get better.
• 1:20:18
  SPEAKER_04: So I I echo it.
• 1:20:19
SPEAKER_03: I'm proud of both of you guys, yeah.
• 1:20:21
SPEAKER_03: And and all of the people that have joined in.
• 1:20:23
SPEAKER_03: I'm proud of every single one of you guys.
• 1:20:25
SPEAKER_03: And Mike, before you know it, the boss will take away your bulldozer just give you a shovel.
• 1:20:30
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, well, that shovel better come with air conditioning.
• 1:20:36
SPEAKER_03: Okay, and anyone who has has jumped in on that, you know, the whole premise was we're never gonna live long enough to build our kits that we have in our stash.
• 1:20:46
SPEAKER_03: And you know, we're hobby, this hobby is is very sedentary, you know.
• 1:20:51
SPEAKER_03: So instead of you know, and it was kind of inspired by seeing a bunch of people post about their modeling friends dying, you know, we we're all gonna die.
• 1:21:00
SPEAKER_03: But you know, yeah, let's let you know, get get get a little active, make sure that there's some balance in your life.
• 1:21:06
SPEAKER_03: And you know, you're you're sitting at the modeling bench, you know, for a long period of time.
• 1:21:10
SPEAKER_03: Make sure you get up, you know, go for a walk around the block, or you know, join a gym and start throwing some kettlebells around or something, you know.
• 1:21:17
SPEAKER_03: Find something that you enjoy doing, like Jason with the bikes.
• 1:21:20
  SPEAKER_12: I did that.
• 1:21:21
SPEAKER_12: I went to the gym, I started throwing some kettlebells around, and they said, You don't have a membership here, please leave.
• 1:21:27
SPEAKER_03: Sometimes you got to be careful what you're doing, but yeah.
• 1:21:30
SPEAKER_12: I did 10 push-ups last last Thursday, and I'm still feeling it.
• 1:21:34
  SPEAKER_13: That's how I yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 1:21:36
  SPEAKER_09: Amen.
• 1:21:37
SPEAKER_09: It's funny you guys are insane, and I'm in I'm in the same boat.
• 1:21:42
  SPEAKER_09: You guys are stuffed.
• 1:21:43
  SPEAKER_09: There's a gym behind me, I use it once a week.
• 1:21:45
  SPEAKER_09: Same thing, man.
• 1:21:46
SPEAKER_09: We have to make the effort and have a better quality of life.
• 1:21:49
SPEAKER_09: We're not getting younger, and there's only two things guaranteed in life.
• 1:21:53
SPEAKER_09: And I say this to my children and my workers death and taxes, and you're not gonna beat none of those two.
• 1:21:59
  SPEAKER_12: That's true.
• 1:22:00
SPEAKER_09: Well, then you're gonna be you're gonna get fucked in prison.
• 1:22:03
  SPEAKER_12: That's what's gonna happen.
• 1:22:04
  SPEAKER_12: Right, exactly.
• 1:22:05
SPEAKER_12: Unfortunately, there's um there's a rest, there's a uh freestanding building not too far from here that's actually two businesses in one building, and it's it just says Chinese food and taxes, and I'm like, there's those are the two constants in the universe, right?
• 1:22:21
  SPEAKER_12: Chinese food and taxes.
• 1:22:23
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
• 1:22:24
SPEAKER_03: I think my next move though, I'm actually just going to to build a tax shelter and just leave it just like you know what, we haven't heard from Jody.
• 1:22:35
SPEAKER_12: We haven't heard what's on his bench, right?
• 1:22:38
SPEAKER_10: Um, I've got a few things started, obviously.
• 1:22:41
SPEAKER_10: We all do, but my main focus is uh trying to get the Blue Ox model shop street machine group build done.
• 1:22:47
SPEAKER_10: So I'm working on this 69 uh Mustang.
• 1:22:51
SPEAKER_10: I found a really cool um image on the internet a while ago of a really beautiful Brittany Blue 69 Mustang Cobrajet, and I said that'd be really cool to build that.
• 1:23:03
SPEAKER_10: So I pieced together a couple kits to get all the bits and pieces.
• 1:23:07
SPEAKER_10: Uh I've painted a bunch of stuff, parts and pieces, so it's good to kind of get that process going.
• 1:23:14
SPEAKER_10: The body, I've taken extra time to fit the nose properly, the rear uh rear apron, and I'm going through and doing um, you know, opening up the uh gaps and all that stuff, you know, doing some scribe work.
• 1:23:27
SPEAKER_10: Now I did notice on the kit, um, the side scoops just glue on, and on the actual car, they're like molded into the core panels.
• 1:23:38
SPEAKER_10: So I'm trying to make this thing really accurate.
• 1:23:41
SPEAKER_10: So there's going to be some work in trying to get these things kind of molded into the core panel.
• 1:23:46
SPEAKER_10: It's turning out really well, you know.
• 1:23:48
SPEAKER_10: I'm taking my time on it.
• 1:23:50
  SPEAKER_10: I'll have to.
• 1:23:51
SPEAKER_10: One of the things when I posted pictures on Jason's uh website, you know, or on the Facebook page when we started, I said I would do a build thread, and I haven't really done much to this point that makes it worthy to actually share.
• 1:24:03
SPEAKER_10: But I will here pretty quick, you know, like the exhaust, I painted the exhaust and I used four different colors to paint the exhaust.
• 1:24:11
SPEAKER_10: You know, the rear end assembly with shocks, that's five different colors.
• 1:24:16
SPEAKER_10: So it's not like I'm just painting everything silver and black.
• 1:24:19
SPEAKER_10: I'm actually trying to make it accurate.
• 1:24:21
SPEAKER_10: So it's taking extra time to do that, but I think the result's gonna be really neat when it's done.
• 1:24:26
SPEAKER_10: So I like to have this done for plastic plastic, you know, that's in October, so it should be enough time to get it done between now and then.
• 1:24:34
SPEAKER_10: But I'm trying to slow things down, spend a little extra time.
• 1:24:39
SPEAKER_10: You know, that skyline I finished, I took extra time on that to focus on the detail, and I think it just turned out nice because I did that, and I want to do the same with this.
• 1:24:50
SPEAKER_10: So do some good engine detailing and a little bit of wiring under the hood and uh do some nice interior detail and make the body like nice and straight, put a nice paint job on it.
• 1:25:01
SPEAKER_10: So that's uh that's pretty much it.
• 1:25:04
SPEAKER_10: I just finished up that 364 for auto modeler, so that should be hopefully out in the next the next uh issue.
• 1:25:11
SPEAKER_10: So looking forward to seeing how that looks in print.
• 1:25:14
SPEAKER_10: That's pretty much it for me on the bench.
• 1:25:16
SPEAKER_10: House projects, that's where my time.
• 1:25:18
SPEAKER_10: I started rebuilding my front porch there last weekend, so stripped that down and went with composite deck, so I'm in the process of rebuilding that, plus a couple bathroom renovations and uh just kind of tough to balance everything, you know.
• 1:25:32
SPEAKER_12: So that composite decking stuff's weird because it looks like it's just a big chunks of slim gym or something, you know.
• 1:25:40
SPEAKER_12: It does have a consistency too.
• 1:25:43
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I had to kind of it is.
• 1:25:44
SPEAKER_10: I had to kind of rebuild so the deck boards ran one way when I built the deck, and uh I wanted to change direction with them because the end of the unless you get really fancy and trim around the edge, the edge of the composite deck boards just not very attractive because you can see all the underpinning of the way the deck is extruded.
• 1:26:05
SPEAKER_10: So I changed direction, so in doing that had to run a bunch of braces and had to kind of redo what was there.
• 1:26:11
SPEAKER_10: So got a fair amount of it done.
• 1:26:13
SPEAKER_10: The little lady helped me last weekend.
• 1:26:15
SPEAKER_10: We actually worked all day Saturday and it rained on and off.
• 1:26:18
SPEAKER_10: So I had to pick up a couple more four by four posts.
• 1:26:21
SPEAKER_10: I did that last night.
• 1:26:22
SPEAKER_10: So my hope this weekend is to maybe not get it done, but continue on that to try to get that buttoned up.
• 1:26:29
SPEAKER_10: So though I'd like to be sitting at the bench full time, unfortunately, there's other things that take priority, right?
• 1:26:35
  SPEAKER_10: So that's it.
• 1:26:38
SPEAKER_10: That that life takes priority.
• 1:26:40
  SPEAKER_10: That's it for me.
• 1:26:41
SPEAKER_10: I want to get this Mustang done, and then I've I've got the short track group build I'd never finished, and I've got uh a la carte that I'd never finished.
• 1:26:49
SPEAKER_11: And you have a stack of cool builds that you haven't finished.
• 1:26:53
SPEAKER_11: I just saw them last weekend.
• 1:26:58
SPEAKER_10: They're all sitting here staring at me every time I sit down to the bench.
• 1:27:01
SPEAKER_10: So I need to be motivated to get some things done here before I pick up something new.
• 1:27:06
SPEAKER_10: But as we know, the group builds and all this other stuff, ideas of squirrels come along, and then uh then then you've got eight but eight models in process, right?
• 1:27:16
SPEAKER_12: So somebody should host a group build called the squirrel group build where you just finish something before you started.
• 1:27:23
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that's right.
• 1:27:23
SPEAKER_10: Grab something you started and just finish it.
• 1:27:25
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:27:27
  SPEAKER_04: Squirrel.
• 1:27:28
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I'd be there for months.
• 1:27:30
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah, seriously.
• 1:27:32
  SPEAKER_10: Same.
• 1:27:32
SPEAKER_10: I could probably work the rest of the year into next year on the stuff I've started and not finished.
• 1:27:37
  SPEAKER_10: So I understand.
• 1:27:39
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 1:27:40
SPEAKER_12: I've got one, two, uh, three, four, four within my visual range that's that are waiting.
• 1:27:47
SPEAKER_12: I got two that are almost done, but two, but four that are languishing.
• 1:27:51
  SPEAKER_12: So I I hear you.
• 1:27:53
  SPEAKER_12: I hear you.
• 1:27:54
  SPEAKER_12: Cool.
• 1:27:54
SPEAKER_12: Thank you very much, guys.
• 1:27:55
SPEAKER_12: And then uh Manny, he's actually been working on literally working on a project.
• 1:28:00
SPEAKER_12: While we've been talking for the wet sanding on what was that there again?
• 1:28:04
SPEAKER_09: Was it the uh 1961?
• 1:28:07
  SPEAKER_09: It's an AMT 1961 three-in-one Ford Galaxy kit.
• 1:28:12
  SPEAKER_09: That's right.
• 1:28:12
  SPEAKER_12: That's right.
• 1:28:13
  SPEAKER_12: It's a beautiful orange color.
• 1:28:16
  SPEAKER_12: Is that the orange?
• 1:28:18
SPEAKER_12: Is that the orange volley pop kit?
• 1:28:20
SPEAKER_09: No, no, this is Florida Grown.
• 1:28:22
  SPEAKER_09: It's a Pearl Base coat.
• 1:28:24
SPEAKER_09: And then it has some uh it's obviously we cut a convertible for the viewers that I mean the people that hear us that don't can't see.
• 1:28:31
SPEAKER_09: It's cut convertible, built like a traditional custom.
• 1:28:34
SPEAKER_09: This kit comes with the option that you can do a custom grill, like a you know, molded kit.
• 1:28:39
SPEAKER_09: So you can mold the back, extend the taillights with a roll pan and the headlights.
• 1:28:43
SPEAKER_09: And uh it's floated room, and then I did what is the name of this candy?
• 1:28:49
  SPEAKER_09: Shoot.
• 1:28:50
SPEAKER_09: I have I know we have like 30 something candies.
• 1:28:53
SPEAKER_09: I think it is can't think of the name, but whatever.
• 1:28:56
SPEAKER_09: It's a nice red orange red candy that we did a nice fade in the front of the grill, the front of the front of the car, and then we did the back, and then what I ended up doing is uh spraying the color again so it I didn't want it to roll over, I wanted it so it just ends you know right at the face of the grill, and then you just see it overlap on the hood.
• 1:29:18
SPEAKER_09: I don't know if that makes sense.
• 1:29:20
SPEAKER_09: Yeah, in in person you can you can see on the side the profile is off road of grown right to the edge, but then when you turn over, you see the fade on the trunk and the back.
• 1:29:32
SPEAKER_09: And I did that on purpose because I kind of wanted I didn't want it to really take away because I already have a little fade in the front and the rocker panels.
• 1:29:40
  SPEAKER_09: But yeah, it's a pearl-based code with a little candy.
• 1:29:42
SPEAKER_09: I like to do I like to play a lot with pearls and candy and manipulate the color to kind of give me different tones.
• 1:29:48
SPEAKER_09: So got it here now, 7,000 grit.
• 1:29:51
SPEAKER_09: Hopefully get it to 10,000 tomorrow because it's already nine o'clock, and I'm sure my wife is waiting for me to come inside.
• 1:29:59
SPEAKER_12: Tell you what, why don't we go ahead and move on with uh upcoming shows?
• 1:30:03
SPEAKER_12: Thank you very much, Benny.
• 1:30:04
  SPEAKER_08: My pleasure, thank you.
• 1:30:06
SPEAKER_11: Okay, so the first uh upcoming show that I need to talk about.
• 1:30:11
SPEAKER_11: August 5th through the 8th, the IPMS National Convention.
• 1:30:17
  SPEAKER_11: The big dog, right?
• 1:30:20
SPEAKER_11: Andrew White or Whitey from the Model Geeks.
• 1:30:23
SPEAKER_11: He sent me a picture of the automotive decal sheet that they have this year.
• 1:30:27
SPEAKER_11: They have an automotive decal sheet, I think.
• 1:30:29
SPEAKER_11: They do, and it's really cool.
• 1:30:31
SPEAKER_11: Um so I really wish I could have gone to that.
• 1:30:34
SPEAKER_11: I'll make it to a nationals one of these years.
• 1:30:36
SPEAKER_11: I I I know I will, but uh that's held at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, uh, 120 West Jefferson Boulevard, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
• 1:30:45
SPEAKER_11: Um, if you're in that area or even if you're not playing, try to get out there.
• 1:30:50
SPEAKER_11: You should be you should see a national convention at least once in your life.
• 1:30:55
SPEAKER_11: At least that's what I'm telling myself so that I can save for the plane tickets and stuff.
• 1:31:01
SPEAKER_11: Anyway, um, next one is August 22nd, the Virginia Shootout Scale Model Contest and SWAT Meet, held at the Salem Civic Center at 1001 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem, Virginia.
• 1:31:15
SPEAKER_11: And those folks are celebrating 250 years of red, white, and blue.
• 1:31:19
SPEAKER_11: So that's gonna be really cool.
• 1:31:21
SPEAKER_11: Next is on the same day, August 22nd, is the Mid-Iowa Modelers Expo.
• 1:31:28
SPEAKER_11: That's hosted by IP Mess Des Moines, the Glue Brothers.
• 1:31:32
SPEAKER_11: Uh that's Prairie Creek Church, 801 West First Grimes Street, Iowa.
• 1:31:38
SPEAKER_11: Uh, and the last show I want to talk about, um we received an email from a very, very good friend of the podcast, Mr.
• 1:31:48
  SPEAKER_11: Keith McGregor.
• 1:31:51
SPEAKER_11: This the show's a bit out there.
• 1:31:52
SPEAKER_11: Uh I want I'm gonna mention it now, and I'm sure in between now and when the show actually happens on October 3rd, I'm sure we'll mention it a couple more times.
• 1:32:03
SPEAKER_11: Uh, but that is SAMCO 2026, uh, hosted by our friends at the Stateline Area Modelers.
• 1:32:11
SPEAKER_11: It's being held at the Durand United Methodist Church, 102 East Main Street in Illinois, and they're doing something super cool this year.
• 1:32:23
SPEAKER_11: Uh this year they're having a special category to raise money for uh Maringo Group.
• 1:32:29
  SPEAKER_11: I hope I'm saying that right.
• 1:32:31
SPEAKER_11: Uh that's a group of fellas who are restoring a B-17E flying fortress desert rat.
• 1:32:39
  SPEAKER_11: Some of the time.
• 1:32:40
SPEAKER_11: Yeah, so um bring out your B-17s, any scale, and enter them in the uh in the contest.
• 1:32:48
SPEAKER_11: It's 10 bucks an entry, but all of that money goes to those gentlemen that are um restoring that plane.
• 1:32:55
SPEAKER_11: And the really cool part is the gentlemen that are restoring that plane are judging that category.
• 1:33:02
  SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's too good.
• 1:33:02
  SPEAKER_04: That's even cooler.
• 1:33:03
  SPEAKER_04: That's awesome.
• 1:33:04
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah, that's really cool.
• 1:33:06
SPEAKER_11: Uh so please, if you're in the area, if you're not, again, plan to be on October 3rd, Samcon 2026.
• 1:33:16
SPEAKER_03: And guys, there are plenty of awesome B-17 kits.
• 1:33:21
SPEAKER_03: I know this is mainly car builders.
• 1:33:23
SPEAKER_03: Grab a B-17, man, build one up.
• 1:33:26
SPEAKER_03: If you're gonna build an airplane, a B-17 is the friggin' way to go.
• 1:33:30
  SPEAKER_03: We got 44 144th scale, 72nd scale, 48th scale.
• 1:33:35
SPEAKER_03: Just do it, you won't be disappointed.
• 1:33:37
SPEAKER_10: You got a little over, you got a little over two months to get it done.
• 1:33:41
  SPEAKER_12: 30 second scale, also.
• 1:33:43
SPEAKER_12: 30 seconds scale, and hobby lobby sells them.
• 1:33:46
SPEAKER_11: That's right, especially on 40% off wings, right?
• 1:33:49
SPEAKER_03: Which is apparently all we every time now, all day, every day.
• 1:33:53
  SPEAKER_11: Oh, that's right.
• 1:33:54
  SPEAKER_11: I had heard that.
• 1:33:54
SPEAKER_11: Hobby lobby is now 40% off all day, every day.
• 1:33:59
SPEAKER_03: 40% off of their constant markup.
• 1:34:02
  SPEAKER_11: Exactly.
• 1:34:05
SPEAKER_12: Or anyhow, you can help a small business and get one from Andy's Hobbyheadquarters.com.
• 1:34:10
  SPEAKER_12: Exactly.
• 1:34:10
  SPEAKER_12: That's true.
• 1:34:11
SPEAKER_11: Or you can help an even smaller business and go to Hobby Emporium in Thingsboro, Massachusetts.
• 1:34:17
  SPEAKER_11: I agreed.
• 1:34:19
SPEAKER_12: Uh let's do another quick vendor spot and we'll be right back after that.
• 1:34:22
SPEAKER_12: And we'll be back with uh emails.
• 1:34:25
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah, emails, thank you.
• 1:34:27
  SPEAKER_12: Emails, emails, emails.
• 1:34:31
SPEAKER_12: All right, we'll be right back.
• 1:34:40
SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Model Builders Anonymous.
• 1:34:42
SPEAKER_00: Step one, admit you don't need another kit.
• 1:34:45

SPEAKER_12: Okay, thanks for sticking around again, folks.
• 1:36:00
SPEAKER_12: We're gonna be back with Justin and his email.
• 1:36:03
SPEAKER_12: Is it just the one?
• 1:36:05
SPEAKER_03: It's just the one, it's not mine.
• 1:36:07
  SPEAKER_03: I'm just reading it.
• 1:36:08
SPEAKER_12: We're down by a by by two-thirds now from last time.
• 1:36:14
  SPEAKER_03: That's all right though.
• 1:36:15
SPEAKER_03: This one has a couple paragraphs.
• 1:36:16
SPEAKER_03: So I will read it really slow to take up the same time.
• 1:36:22
  SPEAKER_03: Please don't.
• 1:36:23
  SPEAKER_03: No, I won't do that.
• 1:36:25
SPEAKER_03: That was a lot of work just to say that.
• 1:36:27
SPEAKER_03: All right, so this email comes in from Billy Wood.
• 1:36:30
SPEAKER_03: He's down in the uh New Bern, North Carolina area.
• 1:36:33
SPEAKER_04: Hey, I see you there.
• 1:36:34
SPEAKER_03: He says, Hello, Model Car Mania Podcast Team.
• 1:36:39
  SPEAKER_03: I hope you're doing well.
• 1:36:40
SPEAKER_03: I recently came across your podcast and really appreciate the way you help bring people together, bring together people who enjoy building and sharing their passion for model cars.
• 1:36:51
SPEAKER_03: It's great to see a group that focuses on the hobby, the builders, and the techniques that make each project unique.
• 1:36:57
SPEAKER_03: I'm still growing my own model car workbench and learning as I go.
• 1:37:01
SPEAKER_03: I wanted to reach out and ask if you know of any builders, collectors, or hobbyists who may have extra kits, unused parts, decals, tools, or supplies they no longer need and would be willing to pass along to someone who's continuing to grow in the hobby.
• 1:37:16
SPEAKER_03: I'm not looking for sponsorship or anything related to promotion.
• 1:37:19
SPEAKER_03: I'm simply a hobbyist trying to improve my skills, build better models, and become more involved in the model car community.
• 1:37:26
SPEAKER_03: If you have any suggestions, advice, or know of anyone who might be willing to help, I'd greatly appreciate it.
• 1:37:32
SPEAKER_03: Thank you for your time and for helping keep the model car hobby alive and growing.
• 1:37:37
  SPEAKER_03: Best regards, Billy Wood.
• 1:37:40
  SPEAKER_12: Awesome, Billy.
• 1:37:41
  SPEAKER_12: Thank you.
• 1:37:42
  SPEAKER_12: Nice.
• 1:37:43
  SPEAKER_12: Let's see.
• 1:37:45
SPEAKER_12: Well, I think Mikey's got a bunch of kids for sale, right?
• 1:37:50
SPEAKER_04: I did a bunch of kids for sale.
• 1:37:51
  SPEAKER_04: He's talking about parts.
• 1:37:53
  SPEAKER_04: I've got I've got a huge collection of half-built.
• 1:37:57
SPEAKER_04: Not sure if they're there's stuff that I bought that was you know already built.
• 1:38:01
SPEAKER_04: I don't know if all the pieces are there, but it dang sure would make an amazing uh box to get started.
• 1:38:09
  SPEAKER_04: I just don't know.
• 1:38:10
SPEAKER_04: I I'll have to keep the email with the address and um maybe I can reach out to him or whatever.
• 1:38:15
SPEAKER_04: But yeah, the biggest problem is I'd love to give it all to him.
• 1:38:19
  SPEAKER_04: I really would.
• 1:38:20
SPEAKER_04: But then you stick it all in a box and ship it, and the next thing you know, you're a hundred dollars in shipping trying to help somebody out.
• 1:38:26
SPEAKER_04: I don't I certainly wouldn't ask him to pay for shipping, but um if he wasn't so far New Bern, well I used to live just outside of New Bern.
• 1:38:33
SPEAKER_04: If I was still there, it'd be super easy to be like, come over and get it.
• 1:38:36
SPEAKER_04: But um maybe we can figure something out, but uh definitely uh staying with that with that email.
• 1:38:42
SPEAKER_12: I've got a couple of bags of parts and some uh some unfinished kits I might be able to pass on to him as well.
• 1:38:47
  SPEAKER_12: Nice.
• 1:38:48
SPEAKER_12: We're gonna help you out there, mister.
• 1:38:51
  SPEAKER_12: Very cool, cool, awesome.
• 1:38:53
  SPEAKER_12: Thank you, Justin.
• 1:38:54
  SPEAKER_12: Thank you.
• 1:38:55
SPEAKER_12: And Jody, what have you got for the new models?
• 1:38:58
  SPEAKER_12: I got a bunch of stuff.
• 1:38:59
SPEAKER_10: I'll get through it quickly here.
• 1:39:00
SPEAKER_11: Don't feel like you have to get through it quickly.
• 1:39:03
SPEAKER_11: I want to hear a detailed explanation on each kit.
• 1:39:06
  SPEAKER_10: Part by part.
• 1:39:09
  SPEAKER_11: Okay.
• 1:39:10
  SPEAKER_10: Okay.
• 1:39:11
  SPEAKER_10: Sounds good.
• 1:39:12
SPEAKER_10: So uh person on the list.
• 1:39:13
SPEAKER_10: So obviously we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of this great country.
• 1:39:18
SPEAKER_10: So they're, you know, pretty much every kit that's coming out, by and large, not all of them, but we are offering up regularly the red, white, and blue, you know, themed um 250th anniversary kits.
• 1:39:32
SPEAKER_10: So there's a bunch of stuff coming out.
• 1:39:35
SPEAKER_10: One of them, uh AMT All-American race team.
• 1:39:39
SPEAKER_10: Okay, so it's the Ford Allen 800 or 8000 Transporter, and it has the uh 1965 Mustang Modified kit that comes with it.
• 1:39:49
SPEAKER_10: Oh so the Allen 8000, you know, that that that's been out for a while.
• 1:39:54
SPEAKER_10: The the the truck itself original release was back in 71.
• 1:39:59
SPEAKER_10: Um, and then 72 through 77, they released that a bunch.
• 1:40:04
SPEAKER_10: So the first time that you saw the LN 8000 with a car kit, right?
• 1:40:08
SPEAKER_10: Very similar to the combo they're putting out now, was back in like 72.
• 1:40:13
SPEAKER_10: One of the one of the kits they released was the um the LN 8000 with the uh the Petty Dodge Dart.
• 1:40:19
SPEAKER_10: I actually have that kit.
• 1:40:21
  SPEAKER_10: Mike's got one too.
• 1:40:22
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
• 1:40:22
SPEAKER_10: So that's so that's that's another example of where they kind of combined two kits.
• 1:40:28
SPEAKER_10: So this All-American race team, obviously it's it's all kitted up in red, white, and blue, striping.
• 1:40:34
SPEAKER_10: The um the Mustang kit, I guess I didn't realize they made this because I've never seen one, but that was originally tooled back in 75.
• 1:40:42
SPEAKER_10: The last time they reboxed it was 2005, so it's come back again here in 26.
• 1:40:49
SPEAKER_10: And uh it's uh I, you know, all the the car, the model shows I've been to Swamp Meets.
• 1:40:55
SPEAKER_10: Not that I've looked specifically for it, but I I haven't seen one to catch my eye.
• 1:40:59
  SPEAKER_10: So I think it's it's pretty rare.
• 1:41:01
SPEAKER_10: So pretty neat setup, you know.
• 1:41:03
SPEAKER_10: You got a Ford Holler with a Ford um race car, and that's to be released here in uh August of 26th.
• 1:41:11
  SPEAKER_10: So it's coming up.
• 1:41:12
SPEAKER_10: Those are both 125th scale.
• 1:41:14
SPEAKER_10: Uh MPC 1932 Chevy Roadster Street Rod.
• 1:41:19
  SPEAKER_10: That's a pretty cool looking kit.
• 1:41:20
SPEAKER_10: It's got really nice box art.
• 1:41:22
  SPEAKER_10: That's a 125th scale.
• 1:41:24
SPEAKER_10: It says it's got some uh new parts listed with this release.
• 1:41:28
SPEAKER_10: So my assumption is they're just adding things to make it kind of more of a hot rod.
• 1:41:33
SPEAKER_10: That kit goes back to 1963 when it was originally released, and the last time it was released was '86 as the Connoisseur Classics kit.
• 1:41:43
SPEAKER_10: I don't know if you guys remember that.
• 1:41:44
SPEAKER_10: They had a bunch of them out at that time.
• 1:41:46
  SPEAKER_11: Holy smoke.
• 1:41:47
  SPEAKER_11: Connoisseur classics, yeah.
• 1:41:48
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:41:49
SPEAKER_10: So it's been a while since we've seen that one.
• 1:41:51
  SPEAKER_10: Again, it's another one.
• 1:41:52
SPEAKER_10: I think in the sea of 32 Ford Roadsters, this one has gotten kind of lost.
• 1:41:58
SPEAKER_10: So I actually may grab that.
• 1:42:00
SPEAKER_10: Again, you know, we we got no space uh to buy anything, but that one kind of uh checks the boxes.
• 1:42:05
  SPEAKER_10: I think that'd be a really cool kit.
• 1:42:07
SPEAKER_10: Another um, this is an AMT, the 53 Studybaker Starliner, 125th.
• 1:42:13
SPEAKER_10: It looks very much like the Mr.
• 1:42:15
SPEAKER_10: Speed car that's been released a number of times.
• 1:42:19
  SPEAKER_10: It's a it's a it's a drag car and it's a funny car style.
• 1:42:24
  SPEAKER_10: The Mr.
• 1:42:25
SPEAKER_10: Speed kit is a front engine where this is a rear engine.
• 1:42:29
SPEAKER_10: So, what I can gather by looking at the box are it looks like they took the chassis from the piranha dragster kit and used that up under the Studebaker body.
• 1:42:41
SPEAKER_10: So I don't know if this was one that was released at some point over time or if they did kind of a combining of parts.
• 1:42:47
SPEAKER_10: It didn't really say that it was a new new release, but like Mikey, I'm a big Studebaker guy, the Starliner, the old Studebaker champion, the bullet nose.
• 1:42:59
SPEAKER_10: I I absolutely adore both of those cars.
• 1:43:02
SPEAKER_10: So that may be a cool one to grab for the uh for the stash.
• 1:43:06
  SPEAKER_12: I believe that's actually uh a repop in that uh that's not a a new a new one.
• 1:43:14
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I don't I I don't I I don't know.
• 1:43:15
SPEAKER_10: I've got some Starliner kits down there, but I've never dove into them.
• 1:43:19
SPEAKER_10: They're not specific to a funny car where this looks like it is, unless it's you know it's a it's a build multiple ways, you know, like a two and one or three in one.
• 1:43:29
  SPEAKER_13: Right, yeah.
• 1:43:29
SPEAKER_10: So it's getting released here in August.
• 1:43:32
SPEAKER_10: So uh anybody that has that kit or you go buy one, uh you know, let us know over on the uh Facebook page that you got it.
• 1:43:40
SPEAKER_10: Show us what's in the box.
• 1:43:41
SPEAKER_10: So another uh Pontiac Firebird MPC.
• 1:43:45
SPEAKER_10: This is another 250th anniversary of America.
• 1:43:48
  SPEAKER_10: It's the Unc Sam's Screaming Eagle.
• 1:43:52
SPEAKER_10: So if you guys you guys look this up, it's got really cool box art.
• 1:43:56
  SPEAKER_10: It's got a really cool livery.
• 1:43:58
SPEAKER_10: There's an eagle on the hood and red, white, blue stripes.
• 1:44:02
SPEAKER_10: So that kit was originally released back in '83, okay, as a Firebird funny car, and that thing hasn't been released since then.
• 1:44:11
SPEAKER_10: So they pulled this thing out, and you know, new decals kind of rebrand, if you will, for the 250th of America.
• 1:44:19
  SPEAKER_10: That's a 125th.
• 1:44:20
SPEAKER_10: That's going to be out here in August as well.
• 1:44:22
SPEAKER_11: Again, if you know Well, I have a real quick question.
• 1:44:25
SPEAKER_11: He said it hasn't been released since when '83.
• 1:44:29
SPEAKER_11: Okay, so within the last couple of years, didn't they release that kit as the Pepsi funny car?
• 1:44:35
SPEAKER_11: Or am I thinking of something different?
• 1:44:37
  SPEAKER_10: That that's the Atlantis.
• 1:44:38
  SPEAKER_10: That's the old Revell.
• 1:44:40
  SPEAKER_11: Okay.
• 1:44:40
  SPEAKER_11: That's a 24-scale one, right?
• 1:44:43
  SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
• 1:44:45
  SPEAKER_11: Okay.
• 1:44:46
SPEAKER_10: So and that, I think the release of that was probably around the same time.
• 1:44:51
SPEAKER_10: So you had very similar models released in that early 80s that were both very similar in construct, you know.
• 1:44:59
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
• 1:44:59
SPEAKER_10: Uh the which were funny car firebird kits.
• 1:45:02
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
• 1:45:03
SPEAKER_10: So it hasn't been out a while or quite a while.
• 1:45:06
SPEAKER_10: Again, if vintage funny cars and things are your shtick, it may be a fun kit to build.
• 1:45:12
SPEAKER_10: But from what I could tell, it looks like it's got a uh it's got a hemi engine in it.
• 1:45:16
  SPEAKER_10: I don't know, kind of neat.
• 1:45:18
SPEAKER_12: And doesn't have the the gold chrome on that one too.
• 1:45:21
  SPEAKER_12: It may.
• 1:45:22
  SPEAKER_12: I yeah.
• 1:45:23
SPEAKER_11: I think I saw something about that last week, and I do believe it's got the gold chrome.
• 1:45:30
SPEAKER_11: All right, which is which is also really neat.
• 1:45:32
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, plus the stripe package.
• 1:45:34
SPEAKER_10: Um, I found uh looking around for stuff outside of you know, kind of uh and AMT, NPC, Revell stuff, uh I found a good website that had a whole list of everything that was getting released in 26.
• 1:45:49
SPEAKER_10: And there's just an absolute pile of Aoshima, Fujima kits that are getting released.
• 1:45:56
SPEAKER_10: Again, I think a lot of these are just reboxing, you know, new decals, rebranding.
• 1:46:01
  SPEAKER_10: Um, they've got a 2002 Nissan uh BNR34 Skyline GTR to curbside 124th.
• 1:46:10
  SPEAKER_10: That kit's getting released.
• 1:46:12
SPEAKER_10: They've got an Ayoshima Subaru TT2 uh Sandbar Truck 124th.
• 1:46:20
SPEAKER_10: They look like the little key trucks, the little tiny, yeah, you know, um, really neat looking kit.
• 1:46:26
SPEAKER_10: I uh I think not much detail.
• 1:46:29
SPEAKER_10: I think they're fairly basic, but I think that would uh build a really cool uh you got one over there, BG?
• 1:46:35
SPEAKER_10: I see BG going for the shelf.
• 1:46:36
  SPEAKER_10: There it is!
• 1:46:37
  SPEAKER_02: Oh look at that!
• 1:46:38
  SPEAKER_10: That's the one.
• 1:46:40
  SPEAKER_10: That is too cool.
• 1:46:41
  SPEAKER_12: That is a guy.
• 1:46:43
SPEAKER_12: It looks like it should be the landscaper's truck from a golf course.
• 1:46:46
  SPEAKER_12: Yeah.
• 1:46:47
SPEAKER_10: So so they they've got a couple different, they've got one like that, plus a uh high top van that they're releasing.
• 1:46:55
SPEAKER_10: But I think that would be a really cool kit with some aftermarket wheels, maybe lower that down.
• 1:46:59
SPEAKER_10: I think you could do some cool stuff with that right there.
• 1:47:03
SPEAKER_12: That'll be there's a there's a guy in my neighborhood who has one of these little it's a little white one.
• 1:47:08
SPEAKER_12: Yeah, and when he's driving in it, it's a right-hand drive too.
• 1:47:11
SPEAKER_12: When he's driving in it, the whole truck leans to the side.
• 1:47:13
  SPEAKER_12: He's oh yeah, yeah.
• 1:47:16
SPEAKER_12: I'm like, oh poor car.
• 1:47:20
SPEAKER_10: The last one I had on here, Fujimi is putting out this um 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser.
• 1:47:27
SPEAKER_10: It's a special edition, so they've got two listed they're gonna release.
• 1:47:31
SPEAKER_10: One is a special edition with um outdoor parts included.
• 1:47:37
SPEAKER_10: Okay, meaning I think for like to make it like um like a roll bar, maybe you know, a winch, stuff like that to make it, you know, kind of pep up the four-wheel drive, if you will.
• 1:47:51
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah, gotcha.
• 1:47:52
  SPEAKER_10: But it's but it but it's a it's a no-glue or paint needed, so it's molded in color, it's a snaptight, and that's a 2011 based off the 2011 special edition FJ Cruiser.
• 1:48:03
  SPEAKER_10: We've got a 2012 kit as well, and I think that's more of a traditional kit.
• 1:48:08
SPEAKER_10: So again, you know, we talked, I think on the last podcast, maybe the one before, you know, they're releasing that.
• 1:48:14
SPEAKER_10: I think it's out now, that little my little pony Mustang kit.
• 1:48:18
SPEAKER_11: Yeah, we're gonna get one for Mikey.
• 1:48:22
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they're putting it out for Mikey.
• 1:48:24
SPEAKER_10: But I think, you know, with um that the pre-packaged kits, especially this being a um no glue or paint needed, again, we're trying to kind of tailor to a younger audience to get them in.
• 1:48:37
  SPEAKER_10: I think that's I think that's a great thing, right?
• 1:48:39
SPEAKER_10: So uh again, Ayoshima, Fujimi, Hasigawa, I mean, all those guys are still pumping stuff out.
• 1:48:46
SPEAKER_10: It's a little bit harder to find data on all that stuff, but it's out there, you just got to kind of search for it.
• 1:48:52
SPEAKER_10: So whether you're into the kind of more American quote unquote stuff or the uh the foreign kits, there's still just an absolute pile of stuff coming out.
• 1:49:03
SPEAKER_10: So now's the time to buy when you see it.
• 1:49:06
SPEAKER_10: So just go buy it, you know.
• 1:49:08
SPEAKER_10: Plastic doesn't go bad, it'll last a long time.
• 1:49:10
  unknown: Yes.
• 1:49:11
  SPEAKER_04: It does.
• 1:49:11
SPEAKER_10: That's pretty much go buy some tropical glitz paint, you know, and paint up your uh somber truck, you know, put a nice uh pink pink paid jump on there and some nice aftermarket wheels.
• 1:49:23
  SPEAKER_10: I mean, you'd have something.
• 1:49:24
SPEAKER_11: I'm glad you reminded me of that Mustang because I have I bet you I can get that at Hobby Lobby, which is 40% off all day, every day.
• 1:49:33
SPEAKER_11: Um my granddaughter is coming to stay with us this weekend.
• 1:49:38
SPEAKER_11: That would be f something fantastic to do with her.
• 1:49:42
  SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
• 1:49:43
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
• 1:49:44
SPEAKER_10: They they they have a bunch of those uh air they I don't know if they still do, but they did carry the air fix like click system kits or whatever.
• 1:49:54
SPEAKER_10: They had some snap together stuff that they carried for a while too.
• 1:49:57
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
• 1:49:58
SPEAKER_10: I don't know if they still do, but yeah, that'd be
• 1:50:00
SPEAKER_11: I'm gonna have to venture down there and look and take a look.
• 1:50:03
  SPEAKER_12: Check it out.
• 1:50:04
SPEAKER_12: That my little pony car is uh no glue, no paint needed, right?
• 1:50:08
  SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
• 1:50:10
SPEAKER_11: And I believe it comes with stickers too.
• 1:50:12
  SPEAKER_11: That's a that's a three-week build for me.
• 1:50:14
SPEAKER_04: If it comes with my little pony stickers, I definitely want the my little pony stickers.
• 1:50:18
SPEAKER_10: It's I think that has vinyl and uh it's got the uh water slide and vinyl decals both.
• 1:50:24
SPEAKER_12: So yeah, water slide and regular stickles.
• 1:50:26
SPEAKER_12: Cool, yeah, Mike, you can decal the car and put one on the back of your head.
• 1:50:29
SPEAKER_10: Yeah, pull it up for us first.
• 1:50:32
  SPEAKER_12: My little pony pony.
• 1:50:35
SPEAKER_10: That's it from here for kits.
• 1:50:37
SPEAKER_10: Again, great time to be in the hobby.
• 1:50:40
SPEAKER_10: There's new stuff coming every day, and I'm glad that they're probably not the greatest some of these older kits as we know.
• 1:50:46
SPEAKER_10: But pulling out these old NPCs and Ravel, you know.
• 1:50:49
SPEAKER_10: I mean, you gotta you gotta grab one of those and build one of those, you know, because there's a little bit of work involved to make them decent, but with a little bit of work, sharpen your skills.
• 1:50:59
SPEAKER_10: If you can make one of those older kits look really nice, you've done something, you know.
• 1:51:03
SPEAKER_03: And uh it is, it is you gotta grab those old kits by the haunches and hump them into submission.
• 1:51:10
  SPEAKER_03: That's it.
• 1:51:11
  SPEAKER_11: That's exactly right.
• 1:51:12
SPEAKER_11: Wow, okay, yeah, that's right.
• 1:51:15
SPEAKER_11: Just ruin the whole little pony kit thing for me.
• 1:51:20
SPEAKER_11: So Justin, put the cat back on the glue.
• 1:51:25
SPEAKER_10: If you can dodge a My Little Pony kit, you can dodge a wrench.
• 1:51:28
SPEAKER_10: I'm glad you got the reference.
• 1:51:30
SPEAKER_12: Don't you have some peanut MMs you should be just munching on right now?
• 1:51:34
SPEAKER_03: Nope, I've I've hit my quota for the day.
• 1:51:36
SPEAKER_12: You've hit your quota for the day, okay.
• 1:51:38
SPEAKER_03: I'm trying not to undo everything I did.
• 1:51:40
SPEAKER_12: Mikey, what do you what are you doing with your thumbs, Mikey?

• 1:51:50
SPEAKER_04: I want to give a big shout out to my good friend Craig, the Mutt Modeler, who, by the time you guys hear this, will have hosted the 48-hour group build, which to me is probably one of the largest and most fun group builds that I've ever done.
