- 0:04This is living. Waters of Grace, the teaching
- 0:07ministry of Lewis Harold, assistant pastor of Calvary
- 0:10Chapel of Westmoreland County in Greensburg, PA.
- 0:15Now here's Pastor Lewis as he continues teaching through God's
- 0:18Word. I pray that somebody will say,
- 0:38you know what? Enough of this lying to myself,
- 0:41enough of this living this life of sin, enough of being in
- 0:47bondage to something that I will never ever be able to pull
- 0:52myself out of. Freedom only comes through Jesus
- 0:55Christ, Jesus says in John 8. He said that if the sun sets you
- 1:02free, you will be free. Indeed, He's the only one that
- 1:07can set us free. Sometimes, when the struggles of
- 1:10our daily lives become overwhelming, we forget that
- 1:14we're not alone. We often overlook the fact that
- 1:17there's someone with open arms who wants us to know that this
- 1:20battle doesn't have to be so hard.
- 1:23In today's message, Pastor Lewis encourages you to give your life
- 1:26to Jesus. Allow him to be your strong
- 1:29tower, your rock, your shoulder to lean on in the Lord of your
- 1:34life. Trust that with his guidance,
- 1:37you can navigate through life's challenges with renewed hope and
- 1:41purpose. Now here's Pastor Lewis in Jude
- 1:44chapter one with today's edition of Living Waters of Grace.
- 1:49This is the point of example. He delivered them all.
- 1:53All of them, and they all went into the wilderness on their
- 1:56way, going to the promised land. They all did.
- 2:00But while they were in the wilderness he destroyed those
- 2:05who did not believe because of unbelief.
- 2:09They were judged and they were destroyed and because of their
- 2:13and it came in a lot of different ways.
- 2:15It came in rejection, it came in rebellion, it came in sexual
- 2:18morality, all kind of ways of just not trusting the those
- 2:21Caleb and and Joshua, when they went in to spy out the land.
- 2:26And when they went to spy out the land, they came back and
- 2:27gave a report and said, look, we can go in and take it.
- 2:30The other people that was there said, no, we can't take it
- 2:33because they're too much for us. And because of their unbelief,
- 2:37they didn't go in. So the first generation of that
- 2:42group in Egypt, none of them went in besides Joshua and
- 2:46Caleb. It was their children who ended
- 2:49up going into the promised land. Their children.
- 2:53None of them went in because they were judged because of
- 2:56unbelief. Let's not have unbelief in our
- 3:02hearts to miss what it is God wants to do for us.
- 3:07Even as the the centurion said one day, he said, look, I
- 3:11believe, but help my unbelief. And we all have some areas of
- 3:15unbelief, if we're honest with ourselves.
- 3:19And you find out those areas of unbelief whenever adversity hits
- 3:23US and it hits US hard sometimes and it's hard for us to believe
- 3:28that God will pull us out of this or even can pull us out of
- 3:32this like, oh, I'm doomed. This is not going to end right?
- 3:36And we take our eyes off of him and we started looking at people
- 3:40who can help me with this. What can I do for myself to pull
- 3:44myself out of this? Let's not be caught in unbelief.
- 3:49And then the next example he uses, he uses the example of the
- 3:54angels. And he said then the angels who
- 3:56did not keep their proper domain, but left their own
- 4:00abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under
- 4:04darkness. So you went from the children of
- 4:08Israel to now he and, and how they were judged because of
- 4:12their unbelief. And now he goes to the angels,
- 4:15these angels and, and, and what we have to understand is that
- 4:19angels have free will. Angels have free will and, and
- 4:23Satan himself have free will. And he chose to rebel against
- 4:29God, to rebelled against God. And because of that, he and the
- 4:34angels who rebelled with him, which was 1/3 the Bible tells us
- 4:39we're cast out of heaven. We're cast out of heaven.
- 4:43They decided that they wanted their will and not God's will.
- 4:47They wanted to do what they wanted to do and not do what God
- 4:50wanted them to do. Oh, they had a proper domain.
- 4:54They had a place in heaven. They were there, but they turned
- 5:00away from them, turned away from God to follow their own will, to
- 5:05follow their own heart. And the Bible says as a result
- 5:08of that, He now has them reserved in everlasting chains
- 5:13under darkness for the judgment of the great day.
- 5:18Just think about that. Because they were looking to
- 5:23have a life of freedom to do what they wanted to do, to live
- 5:26their own free will and not surrender to the will of God.
- 5:31They still end up in bondage. They still don't have any
- 5:34freedom. They're in the darkness, chained
- 5:39darkness because of their decisions to live their own life
- 5:44the way they want to live it. But you know what?
- 5:45That's no different than what we have and where we are when we
- 5:52lived according to our own desires, when we lived according
- 5:56to our own will, and we thought we have, we were having freedom.
- 6:00We were living freedom. Oh my, I want to do what I want
- 6:03to do. I don't want nobody giving me
- 6:05rules and telling me what to do. Come in when I want to come in,
- 6:08go where I want to go and do what I want to do.
- 6:12We thought we had freedom, but we were in bondage to the very
- 6:15sin that we gave ourselves to. And today I just want to say
- 6:20that maybe someone can hear this.
- 6:22You know, we think it's freedom to live in our own free will,
- 6:25but God gives us His word that we obey for our protection.
- 6:33Obedience is for the purpose of our protection.
- 6:38That's why we want our kids to obey us, because it protects
- 6:42them. Because we know, we've seen,
- 6:44we've experienced, and we want to protect our kids.
- 6:47So we give them structure, we give them guidelines, we give
- 6:51them dare say it rules, but it's for the purpose of protecting
- 6:58them. It's not to harm them.
- 6:59It's not to stop them from having fun.
- 7:02It's to protect them. God gives them to us, and it's
- 7:08when we reject that protection, it's when we reject His will for
- 7:12our lives, that we find ourselves in bondage to the very
- 7:15sin that we give ourselves to. That's what happened with these
- 7:19angels. And then in verse 7, it says
- 7:22that Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, in a similar
- 7:26manner to these, having giving themselves over to sexual
- 7:31immorality and going after strange flesh, are set forth as
- 7:35an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
- 7:41The vengeance of eternal fire. Very interesting.
- 7:44And he says that these the Sodom and Gomorrah, Sodom and Gomorrah
- 7:50very interesting because what Sodom and Gomorrah was actually
- 7:54destroyed for was their immoral, sexual, immoral lifestyles and
- 8:00their, their desire to go after what it calls here in in my
- 8:05version says strange flesh. Other versions may say unnatural
- 8:11desire. Some may even say perversion.
- 8:16They, they, they, they sought perversion, strange flesh, same
- 8:22sex relationships and so forth. And you know it, it talks about
- 8:28it back in Leviticus. You know it, it gives a number
- 8:31of scriptures concerning God's attitude and his position on
- 8:37sexual immorality, particularly homosexuality specifically talks
- 8:43about that. I'm not going to read all of
- 8:44those all of those scriptures, but I am going to read the
- 8:48verses because and the reason why is because I want you to arm
- 8:51yourself is because there's a lot a lot of people in society
- 8:56today isn't an interesting thing that God destroys Sodom and
- 8:59Gomorrah from We actually this country actually embraces today.
- 9:05Try to normalize it and God is saying no, it's an abomination
- 9:10to me. Don't go in and do what the
- 9:13inhabitants of this land did. It's an abomination.
- 9:18It's sin. This country embraces it, even
- 9:24celebrates it and call it pride, which is exactly what it is.
- 9:30Because they're so prideful that they won't humble themselves.
- 9:35We're so prideful sometimes that we don't humble ourselves before
- 9:39the Lord. Thank you, thank God for grace,
- 9:43Amen. Because the truth is, is that
- 9:47even if they would turn and repent, if the children of
- 9:50Israel would have turned and repented, God would have
- 9:53forgiven them. If the people in Sodom and
- 9:57Gomorrah would have repented, God would have forgiven them.
- 10:00He told Abraham, he said, look, if I find Ted, they started at
- 10:0450. He said, I'll tell you what, if
- 10:07I find 1010 righteous people in the cities of Sodom and
- 10:12Gomorrah, I won't destroy it. There wasn't 10 people in Sodom
- 10:17and Gomorrah that did not pray that would repent does not
- 10:21wasn't 10 and it was destroyed by fire.
- 10:27So I want to read these verses so you can have them if you want
- 10:29to write them down, put them in your phone however you want to
- 10:32do it. But the first one is Leviticus
- 10:33chapter 18 and verse 22. Also in Leviticus chapter 20 and
- 10:38verse 13, also in the and then in Romans chapter 1 and verse 26
- 10:47and 27, First Timothy chapter 1 and verse 10, and even in the
- 10:54book of Revelations chapter 21 and verse 8.
- 11:02But then there's another scripture that I actually want
- 11:03to read, this one because not only does it shows God's
- 11:08righteousness, but it also shows His grace.
- 11:12It shows His grace. And this is First Corinthians
- 11:15chapter 6 beginning at verse 9. And he says this.
- 11:23Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the
- 11:27Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.
- 11:33Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers.
- 11:39Here we go. Nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
- 11:46nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkers, nor revilers, nor
- 11:52extortioners will inherit the Kingdom of God.
- 11:57Cannot make it any clearer of what God feels about that sexual
- 12:03and moral sin. Not only that one, but it's not,
- 12:07not not only when they listed you listed others, but that one
- 12:10was listed as well. But this is the part that gives
- 12:14me hope. This is the part that should
- 12:17give us all hope. In verse 11 he says, and such
- 12:22were some of you and search were some of you.
- 12:30One of these in here captures some of all of us at one point.
- 12:36And such were some of you. But that's why I like the butts
- 12:40in the Bible. But you were washed.
- 12:44You were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of
- 12:51our Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
- 12:57So that is not a permanent condition for you to be a
- 13:01homosexual. I'm sorry that people feel like
- 13:03it is. It's not.
- 13:05You can be delivered because Jesus says, you know, I mean,
- 13:09the Bible says here and such were some of you.
- 13:11So he delivered them, They were delivered, they were washed from
- 13:17it, they were sanctified and they were justified.
- 13:19That means they were declared righteous and that by the Spirit
- 13:24in the name of Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
- 13:30I just pray that we understand that God is serious about sin.
- 13:38He is serious about sin. He desires for us to obey Him,
- 13:43but even more important is that there's grace there for all of
- 13:48us, no matter what our sin is, no matter how long we've been
- 13:53doing the sin, no matter what people call you concerned ought.
- 13:58He ain't going to never change. She ain't going to never change.
- 14:00No, you can. God can change you.
- 14:05The Spirit of the Holy, the Spirit of God can come in and
- 14:10cleanse you and make you new. If any man be in Christ, he is a
- 14:16new creature, a new creation. Old things are passed away.
- 14:22That means to die. They're passed away, passed
- 14:25away, mean and died and now all things are become new, new.
- 14:32It's a new you. And we all have that in Christ
- 14:37Jesus. And the next line says, and all
- 14:40things are of God, thank you Jesus, thank you Lord.
- 14:48But it's because of this sin that the day is so special.
- 14:53Our Palm Sunday, Jude took us back into the history and showed
- 15:00us from the Old Testament God's righteousness and how He will
- 15:07judge sin. He showed us that through the
- 15:09example of the Israelites, the example even of the angels, and
- 15:13the example also of those in Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 15:19And that's why it was so important that Jesus Christ
- 15:25came. If you ever have anybody that
- 15:28tell me that they don't tell you, they don't know the
- 15:29significance of Jesus Christ and him coming, come here, take them
- 15:36here. Because some of these sins we're
- 15:39still doing today. All these sins we're still doing
- 15:41today, we're still rejecting them.
- 15:44We're still living in sexual immorality.
- 15:47We're still dealing with unbelief, but Jesus Christ came
- 15:53so that we be forgiven of our sins and the hostility that we
- 15:56had against God the Father, it's now we now have peace with him
- 16:00because of Jesus Christ. Bible says back in the book of
- 16:05Luke and also in the book of Matthew, when he talked about
- 16:12the triumphant entry and when he talked about the triumphant
- 16:17injury. We, we, you know, we're talking
- 16:18about Jesus Christ who told the disciples that day to go on in
- 16:25to Jerusalem when they got to Beth Fetch.
- 16:28It's going to go over to the city or over or to the village
- 16:32next to you and I want you to find a coat.
- 16:34There's a coat that's going to be tied there.
- 16:37The coat or the the, the the foal of a donkey.
- 16:41No one's ever ridden on this thing.
- 16:45I want you to go bring it to me. They said, wait a minute, we
- 16:49can't go and take somebody's donkey.
- 16:52It's just like you or use Clark's example.
- 16:56You out there looking at his car, you get ready to take his
- 17:01car. He come out and say, hey, what
- 17:05are you trying to do with my car?
- 17:08That's what they were asked, just what Jesus was telling them
- 17:10to do. But see, what they didn't
- 17:11understand is that Jesus had already worked in the heart of
- 17:14the owner of that donkey. So he said, no, go ahead and
- 17:18tell them if anybody asks you why are you taking that donkey,
- 17:22you tell them that the Lord has need of it.
- 17:26Now, I don't know if that's going to work with Clark's car.
- 17:32So, so don't y'all go out there and car his car trying to get in
- 17:34his car and then say, hey, the Lord got need of it because you
- 17:38want to take it on Route 30 and see what it can do.
- 17:44But Jesus had already worked into the heart of the owner of
- 17:46that donkey and said the Lord has need of it.
- 17:50He brought the donkey back to Jesus.
- 17:54They put the coats on the back of the donkey.
- 17:59They set Jesus on the donkey and as they're bringing him down as
- 18:03they can, that that descent that goes into Jerusalem.
- 18:08When the people finally get a chance to look up and see Jesus
- 18:11coming on that donkey, the Bible says they begin to shout, they
- 18:17begin to holler out. Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in the
- 18:22highest. Save, save us, save me in the
- 18:27highest. Jesus comes down and he's riding
- 18:31on that donkey. And not once did he tell any of
- 18:35them to not worship him. That time he didn't say, no,
- 18:39don't tell anybody because he was presenting himself as the
- 18:43king. He was presenting himself as the
- 18:45true Messiah. David Holland out and said, Son
- 18:49of David, which means that you are the Messiah because we heard
- 18:53about you back in Zechariah. The prophet Zechariah told us
- 18:58that the son of David will come and he's going to be riding on
- 19:00his coat as he's a king. That's you, son of David.
- 19:08He's coming down this hill and the people were seeing him and
- 19:11they're crying out, but unfortunately they're crying out
- 19:14because they're thinking that he's coming to save them from
- 19:18the Roman rule that he's coming to start a revolt against the
- 19:23Roman government. They didn't realize that he was
- 19:26coming in to save them from so much more.
- 19:30He was coming to bring them eternal life.
- 19:33And they're yelling hosanna, Hosanna in the highest.
- 19:36He's the king and the and the Pharisees are saying rebuke your
- 19:40disciples. You hear what they're saying.
- 19:43They're calling you king. They're calling you son of
- 19:45David. That means they're saying that
- 19:47you're the Messiah, the son of the living God.
- 19:51And Jesus just simply said, look, if I if these keep solid,
- 19:55the very rocks will cry out. All of his creation worships
- 20:00him. So he's come in and they're
- 20:03waving palm branches and they're celebrating him.
- 20:08He knew even his disciples didn't know or understand, but
- 20:12he knew then in about 5 or 6 days that many of those same
- 20:17people who are crying out Hosanna who are calling him
- 20:21king. Who are praising Him and
- 20:24worshipping Him? Many of those same people will
- 20:27be crying out, Crucify Him, crucify him.
- 20:33But He did it. He presented himself as a lamb
- 20:40going to the slaughter that day. He presented himself as King.
- 20:44He knew what would happen, but He did it for you.
- 20:48He did it for you. He did it for you and you.
- 20:51He did it for me. He never turned back.
- 20:56And then of course, next Sunday we'll talk a little bit about
- 20:59that cross. But I'm grateful today.
- 21:04Praise and worship, take and come forward, please.
- 21:06But I'm grateful today that Jesus Christ came.
- 21:10Bible says over in the book of Mark that even the Son of Man
- 21:13did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life a
- 21:19ransom for many. I'm one of those many.
- 21:26Bible tells us that He came to seek and save that which is lost
- 21:32and that it's not his will that any should perish, but all will
- 21:35come into repentance. I thank God for that because I
- 21:40was a loss. I am the lost.
- 21:45But now I'm found and I pray today that the message reached
- 21:51someone's heart. I pray that somebody will say,
- 21:55you know what? Enough of this lying to myself,
- 21:58enough of this living this life of sin, enough of being in
- 22:05bondage to something that I will never ever be able to pull
- 22:09myself out of. Freedom only comes through Jesus
- 22:12Christ. Jesus says in John 8, He said
- 22:17that if the sun sets you free, you will be free.
- 22:22Indeed, He's the only one that can set us free.
- 22:26So I pray today that somebody receives His salvation, that
- 22:32somebody understands that it was because of the sin of those
- 22:36examples and the sin that we do today that He had to come.
- 22:40We need a Savior, we need a Savior, and Jesus Christ is that
- 22:47Savior. He is the way, He is the truth,
- 22:49and He is the life. He is that Savior.
- 22:51Nobody comes to God except through Him.
- 22:54He is that Savior. So we need to come to Him.
- 22:59I pray to somebody does that. You can just tell.
- 23:03Lord, look, I confess, I am a Sinner and I am in need of a
- 23:08Savior. You could just tell Him that you
- 23:11believe that He died for your sins.
- 23:15You believe that he was buried in, that he rose again on the
- 23:18third day and asking for forgiveness for your sins and to
- 23:21be your savior and to come into your heart and teach you, show
- 23:26you, lead you in how to live the Christian life.
- 23:30You won't see stars. You won't see any kind of big
- 23:35meteors in the sky or hear fireworks go off.
- 23:41You don't hear any of that, but in your soul, the Bible says
- 23:44when you believe that the Spirit of the Son of God comes to live
- 23:49in your heart and He will change you, He will change you.
- 23:57This has been Living Waters of Grace, a ministry of Calvary
- 24:01Chapel, Westmoreland in Greensburg, PA Pastor Lewis
- 24:05Harrell has been teaching through the book of Jude.
- 24:08This is a book of warning as the audience that Jude was writing
- 24:12to was coming under attack from false teachers.
- 24:16Even in the early days of the church, there were teachers who
- 24:18claimed to have a unique revelation from God that
- 24:22superseded Scripture. Pastor Lewis wants you to be
- 24:25sure to be on your guard against those teachers today as they
- 24:30will try to distract you from following the way of Jesus.

- 24:39teachers for what they are and stay on the good path.
