- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, guys, what you're trying to get into?
- 0:03Speaker 2: What day is soon? What you're trying to do? That's
- 0:06Speaker 2: a ringtone right there, Buba.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That's a fire song.
- 0:09Speaker 2: By the way, it is a song.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I gotta tell you. Since I told our listeners about
- 0:14Speaker 1: it and you remind you about it, I've been singing
- 0:16Speaker 1: it NonStop. It's like, you know how you usually get
- 0:19Speaker 1: like a summer hooky song in your head. My summer
- 0:21Speaker 1: hooky song in my head is what you're trying to
- 0:23Speaker 1: get in.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I'm that's amazing because twenty years ago your summer song
- 0:29Speaker 2: was turn me inside out. So I can't speak because you're.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Every we.
- 0:37Speaker 2: When I when I got out.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Michelle Branch knows how many shout outs she gets on
- 0:42Speaker 1: this podcast.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, she should know because she's not alone.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Oh oh, I I think Michelle Branch must be aware
- 0:52Speaker 1: that how many times over the years I've spoken about her.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Do you think Michelle Branch gives two shits about us?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Do you think? Yes? I think Michelle Brand likes any
- 1:00Speaker 1: people that are talking about a song she wrote twenty
- 1:03Speaker 1: years ago.
- 1:04Speaker 2: I hear that, man.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I learned what happened to her.
- 1:07Speaker 2: She joined a so she she I think she got married,
- 1:09Speaker 2: had kids, joined a band.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Doesn't mean she gave up her musical she did.
- 1:14Speaker 2: She was. She's in a band right now. It's her
- 1:15Speaker 2: and another young lady and they do a they do
- 1:17Speaker 2: music together.
- 1:18Speaker 1: But the fuck would they do as long as they
- 1:20Speaker 1: cover Ebby?
- 1:22Speaker 2: To me, they do very they do, uh that very good.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Casey put me onto them because you know how Casey
- 1:28Speaker 2: works in music sometimes, And she put me onto them
- 1:31Speaker 2: and was like, Yo, she's dope. She joined a band.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I rocked.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I rock out to her in my trouble. You know,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I've been thinking about putting my my my sort of
- 1:38Speaker 1: girl pop workout list on the on on on the
- 1:41Speaker 1: web so people.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Can do that ship.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yeah, do that ship, yeah, because iTunes needs that. Yeah,
- 1:47Speaker 1: people listen. I can never find a workout playlist that
- 1:50Speaker 1: suits my needs. Right. A lot of people clearly agree
- 1:54Speaker 1: with you on on rap and hip hop because if
- 1:57Speaker 1: you go on like the standard playlist on iTunes or wherever,
- 2:01Speaker 1: they're all like ninety five percent that and and like
- 2:06Speaker 1: hits one is all like stuff I don't listen.
- 2:08Speaker 2: To, like Wu Tang do you don't listen to the
- 2:10Speaker 2: Wu Tang?
- 2:11Speaker 1: I don't listen to no I don't listen to Wu Tang.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Do you know who? But you know who method man is.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, of course he was in Garden State.
- 2:17Speaker 2: That's right, that's right. But you know he's in it.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You do know that he is in a band with
- 2:21Speaker 2: about twelve people call other Wu Tang members.
- 2:26Speaker 1: There's Wu, There's Tang, there's clan.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna say some names, and you're gonna be like, oh, yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I've heard of them. Of course, A dirty bastard.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Of course I've heard of him. He was, he was,
- 2:40Speaker 1: he died.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Right, Yes, he did. The Rizza, Yeah, I've heard.
- 2:45Speaker 1: I can picture him, dude.
- 2:46Speaker 2: The Riza.
- 2:47Speaker 1: We hung out with him one night and you spell
- 2:48Speaker 1: it rza.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I know that. Yeah, we hung out at chateau. He
- 2:51Speaker 2: came through and kicked it with us that night. We
- 2:53Speaker 2: would hang You're not supposed to talk about chateau on
- 2:55Speaker 2: this actually, so let me take that back. Well, you
- 2:58Speaker 2: know what happens at the chateau is supposed to stay
- 2:59Speaker 2: at chateau.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Right now, you can't be dropping chateau things. I hung
- 3:02Speaker 1: out with Drake at the chateau.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Once you see, look at you spilling the beans.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Okay, get ahead. Who else Rizza ODV method Man, method Man,
- 3:12Speaker 1: ghost Face Killer. Yeah, I've heard of him. I can't
- 3:14Speaker 1: picture his face. I can't you God, you God, I
- 3:17Speaker 1: don't know you God. The jizzer, I don't know the jizza.
- 3:21Speaker 2: That's the genius, uh inspector deck. There you go.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Wow, there's a big band. A lot of people in
- 3:27Speaker 1: this band.
- 3:28Speaker 2: People. Oh yeah, it's a huge band.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You really like their music a lot?
- 3:31Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? I smoke on the mic, like
- 3:33Speaker 2: smoking Joe Frazier, the hell Raiser, raising hell with the flavor,
- 3:37Speaker 2: terrorizing jams, like troops in Pakistan, swinging through your town,
- 3:41Speaker 2: like your neighborhood spy. The man so armed, TikTok keep ticking.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Come on, now, you don't know nothing about the wu
- 3:47Speaker 2: tang okay I came yo e t h o d
- 3:52Speaker 2: man e t h o d man. Hey, you get
- 3:56Speaker 2: off my cloud. You don't know me and you don't
- 3:59Speaker 2: know my now you don't notice.
- 4:01Speaker 3: No.
- 4:02Speaker 1: I have a question though, when you when you have
- 4:03Speaker 1: a big like rap supergroup like that, are there they
- 4:06Speaker 1: all dirty?
- 4:09Speaker 2: Baby? I got your money, don't you worry?
- 4:12Speaker 1: I said, Hey, I know that song. Yeah, that's before
- 4:16Speaker 1: you go into another song. I have a question. Do
- 4:18Speaker 1: they all take turns like I'm gonna rap now, all right,
- 4:21Speaker 1: now you're up you rap now that kind of thing,
- 4:23Speaker 1: like like like they take turns.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Well, some of them have like a connection. So remember
- 4:28Speaker 2: run DMC growing up, Yeah, right, yes, yes, yes, the
- 4:31Speaker 2: Adidas my Adidas, right, those two had a connection. So
- 4:35Speaker 2: when they rapped, they could when they rhyme, they could
- 4:38Speaker 2: bounce off of each other. Some people it's like you
- 4:40Speaker 2: and I, how we have a good uh how we
- 4:42Speaker 2: have good chemistry? Same thing with rappers, right, and you
- 4:46Speaker 2: look for when you're a rapper, you look for that
- 4:48Speaker 2: person that you have chemistry. Drake and Future have really
- 4:50Speaker 2: good chemistry together. So they do a lot of records together.
- 4:54Speaker 2: And so it's the same thing you know, uh in
- 4:57Speaker 2: in the Wu Tang because it was so big, the
- 4:59Speaker 2: wo was so big, there are little tiny groups with
- 5:03Speaker 2: inside the sub groups within the Wu. Right, So ghost
- 5:07Speaker 2: Face and uh ghost Face and Ray Kwana Chef. That's
- 5:11Speaker 2: the one I forgot to mention. I should have put
- 5:13Speaker 2: Ray Kuana. He got the best. He got probably the
- 5:15Speaker 2: best bill for Cuban Linx is probably the best Wu
- 5:18Speaker 2: Tang record in my opinion. It's got so many good
- 5:23Speaker 2: songs on it. Anyway, ghost Face and Ray Kwan do
- 5:26Speaker 2: very well together and on record they bounce off of
- 5:30Speaker 2: each other very well. So they are Now who's your favorite?
- 5:34Speaker 1: If you had to pick one member of the Wu
- 5:36Speaker 1: Tang clan, that's like your favorite rapper in the group.
- 5:39Speaker 2: The Jizz, the Genius, I like him a lot. I
- 5:44Speaker 2: liked o dB a lot. I like I like Meth
- 5:49Speaker 2: Method man, I like I like all of you. To
- 5:51Speaker 2: be honest, are they still Are they still? Like ghost
- 5:53Speaker 2: Face got somebody when the world's normal?
- 5:57Speaker 1: Do they still tour?
- 5:58Speaker 2: I hope? So it's a lot of egos, man, it's
- 6:01Speaker 2: a lot of them, man, how do you do that?
- 6:02Speaker 2: How do you That's like? Look, the Jackson five couldn't
- 6:05Speaker 2: stay together and they were brothers. How do you do it?
- 6:08Speaker 1: When we go on the road eventually touring this show,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I feel like your ego is gonna soar like an
- 6:14Speaker 1: eagle out of control.
- 6:16Speaker 2: It depends on if they.
- 6:17Speaker 1: You're gonna want, You're gonna have demands, you're gonna have
- 6:21Speaker 1: in your rider. There's gonna be all sorts of rules,
- 6:23Speaker 1: no eye contact.
- 6:25Speaker 2: It all depends on how loud they applaud for me
- 6:27Speaker 2: if they applaud for you louder then they applaud for me,
- 6:30Speaker 2: I feel like I'll fall into a little you know,
- 6:33Speaker 2: back into a way. Well, we're gonna Dan when going
- 6:36Speaker 2: applaud for me more than they applaud for you. You
- 6:38Speaker 2: damn right, man, I want my bus to be bigger.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna measure up. We're gonna have the same bus.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Listen when Dan, We're gonna bring Dan and Joel, and
- 6:46Speaker 1: Dan's gonna bring his thunderous applause button, so we'll be
- 6:50Speaker 1: able to augment whatever the crowd does. We'll be able
- 6:53Speaker 1: to augment the audience. You ever were looking at an award
- 6:55Speaker 1: show and you hear the applause on an award show
- 6:57Speaker 1: and then you look around and no one's clapping. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 1: like like like no one in an award show is
- 7:02Speaker 1: paying attention, so that they they'd be like a third
- 7:04Speaker 1: of them clapping, so they just augment all this thunderous applause. Well,
- 7:08Speaker 1: that's gonna be what Dan is doing for us.
- 7:10Speaker 2: When we're on tour with this show. So before we
- 7:13Speaker 2: before we start the show, Dan will be like, all right,
- 7:16Speaker 2: so I need some thunderous applause from you. Guys. Okay, everybody,
- 7:18Speaker 2: and now I need some laughter, need some laughter.
- 7:21Speaker 1: No, no, no, bro, he's just gonna bring it. It'll be,
- 7:25Speaker 1: it'll be, it'll be a button.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Well, hell yeah, he's gonna be. He's gonna bring it.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Dan always brings it.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Dan's gonna bring it, dude.
- 7:32Speaker 2: He's gonna bring it. Of course he brings it. We're
- 7:35Speaker 2: gonna applause.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think we're probably gonna play arenas and and we're
- 7:41Speaker 1: gonna and we're gonna need to do sound checks at
- 7:44Speaker 1: these arenas.
- 7:45Speaker 2: If we play arenas, imagine that. Imagine we go to London. Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 2: and what's the big arena to the O two two
- 7:52Speaker 2: and we play the O two That would be the
- 7:56Speaker 2: best day of my life. I'm gonna tell you something
- 7:57Speaker 2: right now, London, make it, make it happen. Let's put
- 8:01Speaker 2: it out there like that shit.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Listen. I'm sure, I'm sure we're gonna be playing like
- 8:06Speaker 1: four hundred seed theaters. But in reality, let's secret it
- 8:09Speaker 1: that we sell out the O two arena for fake
- 8:11Speaker 1: doctor's real friends.
- 8:12Speaker 2: That would be the best. That would be the best
- 8:14Speaker 2: night of my life. Listen.
- 8:16Speaker 1: You got to put ship out there. You got to
- 8:18Speaker 1: put outrageous ship out there and make it come true.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Remember I told you about the whiteboard. You'd get a
- 8:24Speaker 1: whiteboard and you write the most outrageous ship you want
- 8:27Speaker 1: to have happened in your life and you look at
- 8:30Speaker 1: it every single day.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Who'd you say, did that? Well?
- 8:34Speaker 1: I have a lot of people in my life have
- 8:35Speaker 1: told me this, but the great the anecdote I referenced
- 8:38Speaker 1: on the show was I'm friends with John Legends manager
- 8:42Speaker 1: and they her name is Ti and they went to
- 8:44Speaker 1: a high school together. And she said, when he first started,
- 8:48Speaker 1: they got a big whiteboard and they were putting them out.
- 8:50Speaker 1: They were like, let's be outraged, like I don't know,
- 8:52Speaker 1: cover of Time magazine, like this, many Grammys. They were
- 8:55Speaker 1: like sitting there laughing about the outrageous ship they were
- 8:58Speaker 1: putting on this whiteboard. And she to me and she said,
- 9:01Speaker 1: every single thing on that whiteboard happened. And she said,
- 9:05Speaker 1: now I do whiteboards with all my clients and and
- 9:07Speaker 1: like you know, so anyway, it's about manifesting, it's about
- 9:09Speaker 1: making shit happen. I have a whiteboard in my bedroom
- 9:13Speaker 1: and I'll some some things on there are like goals
- 9:15Speaker 1: I have, and some things on there are like outrageous.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I mean, obviously we're not gonna sell its arena, but
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'm saying you can.
- 9:21Speaker 2: You can put that shit on the board. It could happen.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It happened for John Legend. Man, the dude's got egot.
- 9:27Speaker 2: He got the egot. Let's make it happen.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Dude.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Well, maybe we have to bring John Legend. If it
- 9:31Speaker 1: was like if we open for John Legend, let's do it.
- 9:35Speaker 2: Let's call on Legend.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, man, listen, the guy's got an egot. Okay, So
- 9:39Speaker 1: put your egot on your board. I believe in it
- 9:41Speaker 1: because you look at the board every day, and even
- 9:43Speaker 1: in your subconscious brain, your mind is going, I'm gonna
- 9:48Speaker 1: find a way to work on that today. I'm gonna
- 9:50Speaker 1: make that call I'm afraid to make. I'm gonna, you know,
- 9:53Speaker 1: for some people, it's fitness. They're like, you know what,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I just looked at that whiteboard, and I gotta get
- 9:57Speaker 1: on the treadmill today. I promise myself.
- 10:00Speaker 2: I like her. I'm gonna I'm gonna put the white
- 10:02Speaker 2: board in my in my bedroom, get white share it
- 10:04Speaker 2: with Casey, and I'm gonna be like, baby, let's put
- 10:06Speaker 2: the most outrageous Yes, on this board.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I'm telling you listeners, this is the you know, Brene Brown,
- 10:12Speaker 1: very popular. This is our Brene Brown moment. This is
- 10:14Speaker 1: our self help motivational moment on Fake Doctor's Real Friends.
- 10:19Speaker 1: You can make anything happen.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Okay, dude, I love this. I love this. I love you.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I love that we did this together, the four of
- 10:28Speaker 2: us and our and our listeners. Yeah, what's you make
- 10:30Speaker 2: that shit happen? Let's do I have a sweatshirt on
- 10:33Speaker 2: today because my wife of those Bieber things. No, it's
- 10:36Speaker 2: Mickey Mouse, you.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Know, my my my forty something crisis is being managed
- 10:43Speaker 1: by just getting lots of tattoos.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Nice. Good for you, man.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I was always afraid to get tattoos because my father
- 10:47Speaker 1: hated them. And when my sister died, I got her
- 10:51Speaker 1: name in Hebrew on my on my arm, and my
- 10:54Speaker 1: father kind of like was okay with that because it
- 10:57Speaker 1: was you know, meaningful and it was Hebrew. And then
- 10:59Speaker 1: when he pass way, like I realized that so much,
- 11:02Speaker 1: even though I was in my forties, I still was
- 11:04Speaker 1: so nervous about what my father would think. And then
- 11:07Speaker 1: I was like, all right, it's time to fucking tattoo
- 11:08Speaker 1: the ship out of myself right on.
- 11:10Speaker 2: So you're gonna have a sleep soon.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Well, I don't know about a sleep. But where do
- 11:13Speaker 1: you want your face? When I get it, I was
- 11:15Speaker 1: thinking my left areola.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I was thinking your face for sure. I mean, what
- 11:18Speaker 2: if I.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Did you on my pictoralus major and then listen and
- 11:22Speaker 1: then your mouth was open, but then in your mouth
- 11:24Speaker 1: was my left ariola.
- 11:27Speaker 2: That's weird. That's weird. I prefer you just got my
- 11:31Speaker 2: face on your face, like you took my face and
- 11:34Speaker 2: tattooed it on your face.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Episode about this.
- 11:38Speaker 2: No, I didn't say on his whole face, like my
- 11:40Speaker 2: face on his cheeks. I don't know. Second, I don't
- 11:43Speaker 2: see I don't.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Jellify his black face. If I Joe, can you imagine?
- 11:52Speaker 3: You can?
- 11:53Speaker 2: All you can think of him painting my face on
- 11:56Speaker 2: his face.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Wouldn't face off text, but like a tattoo.
- 11:59Speaker 2: For right, No, it would be an outline.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Joelle, Joelle, it would be an outline. Joelle's like now
- 12:05Speaker 1: managing all of our black face issues. She's like, guys,
- 12:08Speaker 1: sounding like that might be black face. Hey, guys, I
- 12:12Speaker 1: got to chime in here. That sounds like it might
- 12:14Speaker 1: be black face. Joelle would be an outline. It wouldn't
- 12:16Speaker 1: be like colored in, it would be it would be
- 12:18Speaker 1: an outline of Donald's face.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Well, I would just want it on your cheek or
- 12:21Speaker 2: on your forehead, you know.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Any Way, the guy tattoos me told me that we
- 12:26Speaker 1: were talking about all these young kids that are getting
- 12:28Speaker 1: tattoos on their face and how ridiculous it is. And
- 12:31Speaker 1: he said that he's really surprised that any of these
- 12:33Speaker 1: artists are doing it because there's sort of this unwritten
- 12:35Speaker 1: code amongst tattoo artists that you would never put a
- 12:39Speaker 1: tattoo on a young person's face, right, and because for
- 12:44Speaker 1: obvious reasons, And he said, and now that there's this
- 12:48Speaker 1: fad of it happening, he thinks that they're all just
- 12:51Speaker 1: doing it for Instagram fame, because these kids are often,
- 12:54Speaker 1: you know, famous people, and they're doing it saying, fuck it,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna get my fifteen minutes of fame. But you know, obviously,
- 13:01Speaker 1: get these young people that are all tattooing the share
- 13:03Speaker 1: of their faces.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Dude, you might not be able to get the money later,
- 13:06Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Get the money now if
- 13:07Speaker 2: you can. That's that's the that's the yolo man. You
- 13:10Speaker 2: only live once you know, are.
- 13:11Speaker 1: You would tattoo a child's face?
- 13:13Speaker 2: Donald, I'm not. First of all, I am not a
- 13:17Speaker 2: tattoo artist, so I'll never have to put myself in
- 13:19Speaker 2: this situation.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You just told these sex guys and tattoo someone's face.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I'm saying, the reasoning behind it is this, dude, do
- 13:27Speaker 2: you You don't listen. If scrubs didn't happen, you don't
- 13:31Speaker 2: know what you would have done to make them to
- 13:32Speaker 2: make ends meet. If you're acting, if you're acting and
- 13:35Speaker 2: directing stuff, you know what I mean? You could have
- 13:37Speaker 2: gone into a business that you might not be proud of.
- 13:40Speaker 2: You might be. You might Instagram model right now and
- 13:45Speaker 2: a dong talking about followers.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I love how these girls Instagram influenced people. They took
- 13:51Speaker 1: like a little time off for COVID and the Black
- 13:55Speaker 1: Lives Matter movement, and now they're all back fucking tushes
- 13:58Speaker 1: in the air, selling tea on some yacht and a visa.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Oh my god, yolo. Nobody says yolo anymore, they say
- 14:11Speaker 2: these days. I don't know TikTok dancing. I've been inside
- 14:15Speaker 2: so long, I have no idea what the kids are saying.
- 14:17Speaker 1: While they're all on some old guy's yacht doing a
- 14:19Speaker 1: TikTok dance. But you know what, they must have put
- 14:23Speaker 1: that shit on the white board.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Imagine that was on the white board. Imagine that's the
- 14:30Speaker 2: white board. I bet you want to be that's their
- 14:32Speaker 2: fucking whiteboard.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I want to be on a yacht having somebody pay
- 14:35Speaker 1: for it, making that Instagram money.
- 14:39Speaker 2: That's what's up. That's what hey there it is. Go
- 14:43Speaker 2: for yours, listen. That's what I say to everybody and
- 14:46Speaker 2: anybody out there who has dreams and they want fame.
- 14:50Speaker 2: As long as you don't disrespect nobody or hurt nobody,
- 14:53Speaker 2: go for yours. Man.
- 14:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but if you can try and go for something
- 14:56Speaker 1: that contributes to society in some meaningful.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Way, sure you can. Aren't yourself later on? You got
- 15:01Speaker 2: everybody has something to say. I miss you so much
- 15:04Speaker 2: at Her, I miss you so much more. Dude.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Should we get into the show? Tom Kavana's here.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'm so excited about count seeing six seven stories about
- 15:13Speaker 2: show we made about a bunch of dogs, and nurses said,
- 15:21Speaker 2: he's the story is news. So get round you here,
- 15:28Speaker 2: yea here.
- 15:32Speaker 4: And.
- 15:35Speaker 1: What a show? What a show we have today? Donald,
- 15:37Speaker 1: It's a really good episode and the hilarious Tom Cavanaugh's here.
- 15:41Speaker 1: We have so much to say. Let's just get in, Dan,
- 15:43Speaker 1: allow him into the room. Here he comes. I haven't
- 15:47Speaker 1: seen him in years. I haven't seen him in years.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Tom call look at some.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Applause, Dan thunder a plause.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Look at how handsome you. It's like, look at you
- 15:59Speaker 2: and look at him, like.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Look at in the mirror.
- 16:02Speaker 4: It's that's that's pandemic.
- 16:04Speaker 2: You've got the pandemic face going on.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Now. You did get more handsome with age, Tom Cavanaugh,
- 16:08Speaker 1: And I can say that because people think we look alike.
- 16:12Speaker 4: This is true. I can say, likewise, my friend, look
- 16:14Speaker 4: at you guys, My goodness, gracious, I'm so good, so
- 16:18Speaker 4: good to see your faces. Holy man, see.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Your Are you living in Canada or do you live
- 16:23Speaker 2: in the US?
- 16:23Speaker 4: Still well, I live in New York, but I film
- 16:26Speaker 4: a show in Canada, and when the pandemic hit, I
- 16:30Speaker 4: stuck it up north. Hi, Joel, I'm Tom.
- 16:33Speaker 2: By the way.
- 16:35Speaker 4: I'm nice to meet you in person. I listened to
- 16:38Speaker 4: you guys, so I've sort of been familiar with that.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Do you know what? I watched your show? Right? You know?
- 16:42Speaker 2: I watch your show.
- 16:43Speaker 4: I don't know that, but I know you have like
- 16:45Speaker 4: twenty seven children, so I figure maybe in that demo
- 16:48Speaker 4: some well.
- 16:48Speaker 1: But not watching it for his kids. He's watching it
- 16:51Speaker 1: for him.
- 16:51Speaker 2: So for me, I love the Flash. Dude, are you
- 16:54Speaker 2: kidding me? That's trumandic gott a dynamite cast.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Donald is your target, tom he watches all of this stuff.
- 17:03Speaker 1: C W is a bunch of teams window.
- 17:06Speaker 2: How does how did listen? Man? Are you? Is this
- 17:09Speaker 2: the only?
- 17:10Speaker 3: Man?
- 17:10Speaker 2: Listen? Man? Is this the only Wells? Now? Are you
- 17:13Speaker 2: the only?
- 17:14Speaker 3: Is this?
- 17:14Speaker 2: Is this the final Wells? Because the Mousie Verse, the
- 17:18Speaker 2: crisis happened and everything happened. You know, there's only what
- 17:21Speaker 2: like four earths five earths now in the whole arrow Verse,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and now Supergirl lives on Earth one with you guys,
- 17:29Speaker 2: And I don't know. My point is. My point is,
- 17:33Speaker 2: let the man fucking speak, dude, No, no, no, keep going.
- 17:36Speaker 1: He's getting worked up, Tommy.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I'm really excited because I really do love the show.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I really do love the show. Now you and Cisco
- 17:43Speaker 2: Ramone together, I love Wells and Cisco Ramon. I love
- 17:46Speaker 2: the whole thing. So look, my question is, are you
- 17:48Speaker 2: the only Wells left now that you've gone off and
- 17:51Speaker 2: you've become pariah and everything like that is just the
- 17:53Speaker 2: only Wells there is.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Here's what's ridiculous about doing the show, a superhero show.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I run into people like like you, and I just
- 18:03Speaker 4: I am so inferior with my knowledge. I'm like, you
- 18:07Speaker 4: know more, you know more than me. And I'm not exaggerating.
- 18:10Speaker 4: I'm not trying to play Donald like. I understand by
- 18:12Speaker 4: listening to you that you have a better grasp of
- 18:16Speaker 4: the whole thing than I do. I feel like, as
- 18:22Speaker 4: you guys know, when you do a long running television show,
- 18:25Speaker 4: if there needs to be another Wells, there can be
- 18:28Speaker 4: another Wells.
- 18:29Speaker 2: That's what's up. I thought they were. Yeah. Absolutely, here's
- 18:32Speaker 2: the thing.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Can you explain, Donald? First of all, catch your breath,
- 18:36Speaker 1: calm down. Okay, you're embarrassing us in front of our guests.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Listen. This is this is exactly what I did to
- 18:40Speaker 2: George lucas Man. This is exactly what.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I can get too high. And by the way, when
- 18:44Speaker 1: this show's over, he's gonna take a nap because he's
- 18:46Speaker 1: gonna get woozy. He gets very amped up and then
- 18:48Speaker 1: he gets woozy.
- 18:49Speaker 2: This is what. This is all the fans out there
- 18:52Speaker 2: who were wondering how I geek out when I when
- 18:55Speaker 2: I meet or talk to people that do something that
- 18:57Speaker 2: I'm like, holy shit about this?
- 18:59Speaker 4: Is it?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Right here? I can't breathe right now. I sweating. I
- 19:02Speaker 2: know I have a sweatshirt on, but I'm sweating under here.
- 19:04Speaker 1: All right, But calm down now. For those of you
- 19:06Speaker 1: who don't know, Tom is on the Flash. And as
- 19:08Speaker 1: I understand it, with the c W Superhero shows, you
- 19:11Speaker 1: bounce around to the other shows in the same universe,
- 19:14Speaker 1: right and they all they're all under the Greg Burlany umbrella.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I'm guessing.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Yes, the golden Boy of Hollywood that used to be
- 19:20Speaker 4: Bill Lawrence is now Greg Burlanty and has he has
- 19:23Speaker 4: four hundred shows on the air.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Part by the way, my very first job, Tom
- 19:27Speaker 1: cavin well first lead in the movie was Broken Hearts Club,
- 19:30Speaker 1: Greg Burlanni's first movie. That's tremendous, and and now and
- 19:34Speaker 1: and and he we went to Northwestern together and he
- 19:38Speaker 1: now he's like, has the most shows on television of anybody.
- 19:41Speaker 4: You and I when we were talking about doing your podcast, Uh,
- 19:47Speaker 4: the text that came up right next to that text
- 19:50Speaker 4: the last time we talked. Can I can I read
- 19:53Speaker 4: a text that you as long.
- 19:54Speaker 1: As it's not like you up, it's quite It's like
- 20:00Speaker 1: four in the morning and I'm hammered. You up.
- 20:02Speaker 4: It's solid comedy. It's you say, tell Berlany, I want
- 20:09Speaker 4: to do a cameos reverse Flash's brother. I say done.
- 20:13Speaker 4: You say, totally unbuild though a surprise. But I'll need
- 20:16Speaker 4: special powers. I say, make a list, power list, nothing
- 20:19Speaker 4: with heavy hammers. That shit is boring. You say, laser
- 20:22Speaker 4: eyes please. I say those are free.
- 20:26Speaker 1: That sounds great.
- 20:28Speaker 4: I feel like it's a miss.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Why did that never happen?
- 20:31Speaker 4: I know what I feel like now that I've done this,
- 20:33Speaker 4: and I know that Donald wants to be on board,
- 20:35Speaker 4: I feel like now it's just now. Now you're forcing
- 20:37Speaker 4: his hand because you're putting it out to the public,
- 20:39Speaker 4: and I was going to have to hire you.
- 20:41Speaker 2: We were talking about white boards and putting manifesting your
- 20:44Speaker 2: destination onto white boards. This is on my white board.
- 20:47Speaker 2: I'm putting it out there right now.
- 20:49Speaker 1: I want to call Brilanny and I had to call
- 20:51Speaker 1: him about something else, but I want to call Brilanny
- 20:53Speaker 1: and say listen, Tom said, I could be on the show.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Yeah, because I have that kind of yes.
- 20:59Speaker 2: I spoke to.
- 21:01Speaker 4: He said, like, hang on a second, Tom, Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 1: He's got he's got so many he's got so many shows.
- 21:08Speaker 1: He's like Tom Tom Tom Tom he is, I know
- 21:11Speaker 1: he is. And then he called he calls to a secretary.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Do we still do Flash? Yeah? But by the way,
- 21:22Speaker 1: how funny would that be if Donald and I came on?
- 21:24Speaker 1: I mean, I don't, to be honest, I don't. I
- 21:26Speaker 1: don't get breathless about this superhero stuff like Donald, but
- 21:29Speaker 1: he really loves it. So sorry, I digress.
- 21:32Speaker 4: You should do the other thing you should do Donald.
- 21:34Speaker 4: You should figure out knowing it as you do. You
- 21:36Speaker 4: should figure out what the what the role is that you.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Want because I know what role I want. There's what
- 21:41Speaker 2: do you want? I want mine?
- 21:42Speaker 4: Don't say mine.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I kind of like, listen, I'm gonna put it out there.
- 21:46Speaker 2: What do you want to open? You guys kind of
- 21:48Speaker 2: opened it up when Arrow ended, And I know, I'm
- 21:52Speaker 2: not sure if you guys are allowed to touch it.
- 21:55Speaker 2: You kind of touch on it in Stargirl. But I
- 21:57Speaker 2: think Green Lantern needs to be in this, you know
- 22:01Speaker 2: what I mean. Joelle is a Joel's a big fan
- 22:05Speaker 2: of this world too, And there's so many There are
- 22:08Speaker 2: so many that are in the Lantern core and I
- 22:11Speaker 2: know that you know. And also size doesn't matter when
- 22:13Speaker 2: you're a Lantern. You could be tiny, you could be why,
- 22:17Speaker 2: you could be right, come on, man. Anyway, My point
- 22:20Speaker 2: is I think that's one character that would be a
- 22:23Speaker 2: lot of fun to play, you know. They there's so
- 22:27Speaker 2: many people in the DC universe. But if I had
- 22:30Speaker 2: a choice and they were willing to do it, I
- 22:33Speaker 2: would love to be Green Lantern.
- 22:36Speaker 4: All right, And I think I think that's really special.
- 22:39Speaker 4: And dear to Greg, so I think that's great You're
- 22:41Speaker 4: making this happen.
- 22:42Speaker 1: New Slash and the Green. Can the Green Lantern be
- 22:46Speaker 1: forty six?
- 22:48Speaker 4: He could be anything, he could be any Look, I'm
- 22:51Speaker 4: playing the reverse Slash. I'm not a yellow. I'm wearing
- 22:53Speaker 4: a yellow super suit.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And sorry Tom for those of us who don't know,
- 22:59Speaker 1: and I'm sure of our listeners don't know. Can you
- 23:01Speaker 1: just explain in in non superhero terms what reverse Flash means?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Is there a young guys flash.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Yes, there's a good looking It's kind of like when
- 23:12Speaker 4: we did Scrub, Like a good looking, handsome guy is
- 23:14Speaker 4: the lead, and then they cast this guy as his
- 23:16Speaker 4: brother Bill Lawrence had lost a bet somewhere. So basically
- 23:21Speaker 4: a young guy Tom.
- 23:22Speaker 1: When you insult your looks, you insult my looks. So
- 23:26Speaker 1: you're a handsome you look like to me when you
- 23:29Speaker 1: when you when you came on, I thought we got
- 23:31Speaker 1: I thought we got Tom Kavanaugh. Why is Brad Pitt
- 23:34Speaker 1: on the podcast?
- 23:35Speaker 4: That's what that's what you thought?
- 23:38Speaker 1: Okay? Sorry? What is the Reverse Flash? For those of us?
- 23:41Speaker 4: So he's the he's the Joker to the Batman, the
- 23:43Speaker 4: Lex Luthor to the he's the bad guys that we have.
- 23:47Speaker 4: A young fellow, Grant Gustin plays the Flash and the
- 23:50Speaker 4: arch Enemy is the Reverse Flash. He wears a red suit,
- 23:53Speaker 4: and I play the arch Enemy the reverse Slash e
- 23:55Speaker 4: art on. I wear a yellow suit. And that's kind
- 23:56Speaker 4: of it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Are you doing lots of stunts and fighting? Yeah?
- 23:59Speaker 4: Yeah? Can you imagine it's crazy? You know that bucket
- 24:02Speaker 4: list that you have as an as an actor, and
- 24:05Speaker 4: you want to do this theater, You want to do
- 24:07Speaker 4: this show. You want to do something like shows, you
- 24:09Speaker 4: want the whiteboard.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yeah, we started, we started the show time before we
- 24:13Speaker 1: came on talking about just manifesting things by putting on
- 24:15Speaker 1: a whiteboard and staring at it and me it.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Was weird to be in your green room and not
- 24:20Speaker 4: have the speakers going. I'm like, I wonder what they're
- 24:22Speaker 4: talking about.
- 24:23Speaker 1: We were talking about you, we were talking about manifesting,
- 24:25Speaker 1: and then you well.
- 24:26Speaker 4: That's exactly. That's a great that's such a great call.
- 24:28Speaker 4: This is one of those things I never would have
- 24:30Speaker 4: expected to do a superhero show, and it's a you know,
- 24:33Speaker 4: in terms of a bucket list, it's it's so fun.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys look like you have a lot of
- 24:38Speaker 2: fun on it.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And it has no end in sight. On your show,
- 24:40Speaker 1: it has no end in sight. I mean, I just
- 24:42Speaker 1: feel like the Greg Briland keeps adding more and more
- 24:45Speaker 1: to this, to this world, right, I don't know if
- 24:48Speaker 1: they're all they all must be successful because they all
- 24:50Speaker 1: keep going.
- 24:51Speaker 4: I honestly, I honestly don't know. I never would have thought.
- 24:55Speaker 4: I think when they started a number of years ago,
- 24:57Speaker 4: they had uh and they've done super No, it was
- 25:01Speaker 4: the Superman show, small though, and then they did Arrow
- 25:05Speaker 4: and Arrow I think did well. And then but when
- 25:07Speaker 4: we started Flash, you guys, you guys all know how
- 25:11Speaker 4: it is. We started flashing. I said to my wife, well,
- 25:13Speaker 4: this'll be this will be canceled in seven so I'll
- 25:16Speaker 4: go up to Vancouver from New York and we'll shoot
- 25:18Speaker 4: and then it'll get canceled. Because even at that time,
- 25:20Speaker 4: I had done two shows for Greg and both of
- 25:23Speaker 4: them had, you know, been canceled relatively quickly, because that's
- 25:26Speaker 4: just how it goes. And so I didn't foresee it,
- 25:29Speaker 4: you know, I just I never expected to go, and
- 25:31Speaker 4: this thing seemed to go. And even when you say
- 25:34Speaker 4: there's no end in sight, I still expect that you'll
- 25:37Speaker 4: just get the call. Hey, so yeah, we're done.
- 25:40Speaker 2: You just never know.
- 25:40Speaker 1: For those for those of you not in the entertainmentustry,
- 25:43Speaker 1: we just we just never know.
- 25:44Speaker 2: You know.
- 25:45Speaker 1: You get you get a show like Scrubs and you're like, oh, yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 1: this could go six episodes and then it goes nine years,
- 25:50Speaker 1: or you know, or or you know, Donald's did this
- 25:53Speaker 1: show and it when a season, and I did a
- 25:55Speaker 1: show when a season. You just have every single time
- 25:58Speaker 1: it's a roll of the dice, no matter no matter
- 26:01Speaker 1: how many good ingredients there are, you just never know.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, and most of the time the numbers are
- 26:06Speaker 4: it's gonna get canceled.
- 26:07Speaker 1: It's not going to go right, especially now more than ever,
- 26:10Speaker 1: because you know, it's there's so much content. How the
- 26:13Speaker 1: hell does the something fine eyeballs? You know, and you're
- 26:17Speaker 1: on the classic old school true network.
- 26:20Speaker 2: You know, you guys do twenty four episodes a season.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Do you know what it's like to be able to
- 26:27Speaker 2: do something like most I remember? I remember I did
- 26:31Speaker 2: a show called The Exes right after Scrubs.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Right of course.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Yeah, we did ten episodes a season. That was it
- 26:39Speaker 2: for an actor. It's like, wait, well, hold on, let's
- 26:43Speaker 2: I want to be I want to work all year
- 26:45Speaker 2: round if I possibly can. It was really weird to
- 26:48Speaker 2: work ten episodes and then have all of this time
- 26:51Speaker 2: off until you came back and did another ten. Or
- 26:54Speaker 2: you would do what we would do thirty and they
- 26:56Speaker 2: would just chop it up into episodes. It was like
- 27:00Speaker 2: you never really find you never really find a pace
- 27:03Speaker 2: or a footing. It's like, well, how long are we going?
- 27:05Speaker 2: We're only going to do ten twenty two? You guys
- 27:07Speaker 2: seem to you know, you live in Canada right now? Yes?
- 27:11Speaker 4: Yeah? Is it Vancouver, Vancouver, Canada, Conifers Jewel of the city.
- 27:16Speaker 4: Have you guys been I have.
- 27:18Speaker 2: I love that town too.
- 27:19Speaker 1: I think it's a beautiful city. I love it there.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I was there when the sun was out and it
- 27:23Speaker 1: was magnificence. Yes, And then I was told that it's
- 27:27Speaker 1: not always like that, and I don't know if I
- 27:28Speaker 1: would if I would like it rainy.
- 27:31Speaker 4: It's yeah, it's a it's a question of taste, like
- 27:33Speaker 4: when the sun shines. There's no finer place. I don't
- 27:35Speaker 4: mind the rain. But I think if you were somebody
- 27:37Speaker 4: that didn't like rain and preferred like seasons in snow,
- 27:41Speaker 4: then this city would not be for you. But it
- 27:43Speaker 4: really is. It really is a coniferous jewel of a city.
- 27:45Speaker 1: And are you mostly on stages and such or do
- 27:48Speaker 1: you go out and shoot on locations and stuff.
- 27:50Speaker 4: It's it's almost follows a pretty regular schedule where we
- 27:55Speaker 4: do a lot of stage work early in the week
- 27:56Speaker 4: and then we do all this the stunt stuff. You know,
- 27:59Speaker 4: it's always you know, so Thursday, Friday nights, we're gonna
- 28:01Speaker 4: be we're gonna start at you know, five pm, or
- 28:03Speaker 4: we're gonna go all night and we're gonna like, you know,
- 28:05Speaker 4: have the guy run up a building and fight a
- 28:06Speaker 4: monster and then like we're gonna come back and win, you.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Know, So you kind of you kind of you kind
- 28:11Speaker 2: of have to stay in shape for this thing, like
- 28:13Speaker 2: you're you're asked to do way more than you expected
- 28:16Speaker 2: to do when you started. Huh.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Hey, it's a blessing and a curse, you know, because
- 28:20Speaker 4: the other thing is too is as you guys know too,
- 28:22Speaker 4: Like I mean, I'm older than you guys, but there's
- 28:25Speaker 4: a there's a thing where you when you were a
- 28:28Speaker 4: young actor, you could be vain, but you wouldn't really
- 28:32Speaker 4: matter because you're probably gonna look fine, you know. And
- 28:34Speaker 4: then you get a little bit older, and then your coach,
- 28:37Speaker 4: the people you're acting with, your co actors are twenty
- 28:40Speaker 4: eight twenty nine, you know, and they are fantastic, and
- 28:43Speaker 4: then there's you, you know, and he's he looks great
- 28:46Speaker 4: in the suit. And then you can't really be on
- 28:48Speaker 4: the donut diet while you're on the suit, so you
- 28:51Speaker 4: kind of have to keep keeping in shape, you know.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And so it's do you hang out with Jesse l
- 28:56Speaker 2: Martin a lot?
- 28:57Speaker 4: Jesse is a legend, as you guys know, coming from her.
- 29:00Speaker 4: He's just he's amazing. He's got this thing sus because
- 29:04Speaker 4: he's the captain. You know, he can he work it
- 29:06Speaker 4: with a hat and an overcoat. He doesn't have to
- 29:09Speaker 4: worry too much of it. You know. He's just like
- 29:11Speaker 4: he's kind of like he runs. He basically is the
- 29:14Speaker 4: beating heart, you know, runs the show, the center of
- 29:17Speaker 4: you know, reason, and uh, you know he's he's got
- 29:20Speaker 4: a great job and appreciates it.
- 29:23Speaker 1: So Tom when ed, when the show ed, I want
- 29:26Speaker 1: to talk about that. When it came out, I was
- 29:28Speaker 1: an unemployed actor and my mom called me very very
- 29:33Speaker 1: concerned that I that I that I had gotten a
- 29:35Speaker 1: lead in the TV show and not told her because
- 29:38Speaker 1: she didn't understand why why I was on billboards all
- 29:42Speaker 1: over the country.
- 29:44Speaker 4: And is true, that's how it is.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I mean, no, it is, I mean she she she
- 29:49Speaker 1: obviously sused that it was not me, but she was like,
- 29:52Speaker 1: there is a young man who's on every billboard in
- 29:56Speaker 1: town and he looks a lot like you. And I
- 29:59Speaker 1: remember thinking, oh, yeah, mom, that's that's not me. Uh yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 1: I'm still still trying to get some auditions going and
- 30:07Speaker 1: uh and it was really humbling because I was like
- 30:11Speaker 1: that fucking guy who looks exactly like me as a
- 30:14Speaker 1: as a hit show leading role on NBC. Now, no
- 30:18Speaker 1: one's ever gonna hire me. By the way, Dak Sheppard,
- 30:20Speaker 1: who also looks like us, told me this. He was
- 30:23Speaker 1: like when I was, when I was, you know, became
- 30:25Speaker 1: famous and was all over the place. He was like, well,
- 30:28Speaker 1: how is this gonna fuck my career? Because I look
- 30:30Speaker 1: like that guy and that guy's already working and so anyway,
- 30:36Speaker 1: I wanted to talk to you about Ed and tell
- 30:37Speaker 1: us I imagine that was your big break, right, I mean,
- 30:40Speaker 1: I know you worked a bunch, but that was your
- 30:41Speaker 1: first your own show, right for sure?
- 30:44Speaker 4: I mean, first off Dax's and you have done quite
- 30:48Speaker 4: well for yourselves.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I worked out guys so's Ray Romano.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yes it worked out, it.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Didn't work out, but yeah, I had done I'm Canadian
- 30:57Speaker 4: and I had I moved to New York City and
- 31:03Speaker 4: I think eighty nine to do Broadway. I did like
- 31:06Speaker 4: a decade of theater and I absolutely loved it, absolutely,
- 31:10Speaker 4: one hundred percent loved it. And then I had done
- 31:13Speaker 4: a small guest spots for literally for ten years on ABCNBC.
- 31:17Speaker 4: Back then there was like just the four right, and
- 31:19Speaker 4: I'd done a show called Providence and then But I
- 31:24Speaker 4: had no idea of the profile that you guys enjoyed
- 31:28Speaker 4: on Scrubs because the shows a lot of the shows
- 31:31Speaker 4: that I had done when they were television shows or series.
- 31:33Speaker 4: I've done a couple of series in Canada, they were
- 31:35Speaker 4: Canadian shows, and there's no cross border pollination between the
- 31:39Speaker 4: two countries. In other words, you'll shoot a show in
- 31:43Speaker 4: Canada and you'll do ten episodes, but everybody in Canada
- 31:46Speaker 4: is watching Friends, you.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Know, So who's watching these Canadian shows?
- 31:52Speaker 4: Well, it's it's different. In Canada. There's a federal mandate
- 31:56Speaker 4: for these television shows, so they do them, and some
- 32:00Speaker 4: of them are quite quite good. And there's not a
- 32:04Speaker 4: there's not a mill the way there is behind the
- 32:09Speaker 4: entertainment industry and the States. Up in Canada, it doesn't,
- 32:12Speaker 4: you know. Part of the ethos of the country is like, well,
- 32:14Speaker 4: let's not get too big for ourselves then, you know,
- 32:17Speaker 4: and so and in the States it's very much the opposite,
- 32:20Speaker 4: like let's see how we can build up and how
- 32:22Speaker 4: big we can get. And why that why that ethos
- 32:27Speaker 4: is good is that you know, you you if you're
- 32:30Speaker 4: working as an actor, you're working largely because you love
- 32:33Speaker 4: it because a lot of the attention, at least back then.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Now it's different because everything can be found. But back then,
- 32:40Speaker 4: you know, you were you were doing the same stuff
- 32:42Speaker 4: we would do on Scrubs that you'd come to set
- 32:44Speaker 4: and there's all the you know, the crew, and there's
- 32:46Speaker 4: the people and it's and it's great and you love it.
- 32:48Speaker 4: And then you leave set and it's still the exact
- 32:51Speaker 4: same experience. It's just that you're not going to radio
- 32:55Speaker 4: City Music Hall and doing the upfronts, you know what
- 32:57Speaker 4: I mean. And so but it's nice in this way
- 33:00Speaker 4: because you understand that, oh, this is this is what
- 33:03Speaker 4: I love to do. And by the time I got ed,
- 33:05Speaker 4: like you know, fifteen years later, it was I was
- 33:09Speaker 4: aware enough that it was it's still the same experience.
- 33:12Speaker 4: And so even though suddenly, like you say, there was
- 33:15Speaker 4: like billboards plaster all over the place, I was readily
- 33:19Speaker 4: aware that you know that that was all that that
- 33:23Speaker 4: can get ripped away and it's semi superficial, and so
- 33:26Speaker 4: I think that was a nice little I don't know
- 33:28Speaker 4: what it would be like to have your face plastered
- 33:31Speaker 4: all over the place when you're in your mid twenties.
- 33:34Speaker 4: I think it would be a I think it would
- 33:35Speaker 4: be a tough fight.
- 33:36Speaker 1: We didn't. We didn't get a big billboard buy right,
- 33:39Speaker 1: Why the NBC didn't go They certainly went all in.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Whoever made the billboard decision for ED went all in,
- 33:45Speaker 1: And by the time Scrubs came on, they were like, dude,
- 33:48Speaker 1: remember a few years ago we shot our billboard budget
- 33:50Speaker 1: on ED. We have no billboard Scrubs.
- 33:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm so sorry about that, because why that's why
- 33:56Speaker 4: you guys didn't get that big bill But what was
- 33:59Speaker 4: funny is like I remember when the when Scrubs started,
- 34:02Speaker 4: how just how much of a splash it made. I'm
- 34:04Speaker 4: sure you can remember, and it's not lost on you,
- 34:07Speaker 4: how like big a deal that that was. Like that
- 34:11Speaker 4: show was so important, it seemed at the time.
- 34:14Speaker 1: It was bizarre for us because also, you know, we
- 34:16Speaker 1: compare it to now, you know, the amount of people
- 34:20Speaker 1: watching a single TV show just doesn't happen anymore, especially live,
- 34:25Speaker 1: we really even at all, but let alone live when
- 34:28Speaker 1: it's airing. So it was a completely different eras that
- 34:31Speaker 1: would watch.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Our worst at our worst TV shows. Now, if they
- 34:35Speaker 2: got our worst numbers right, yes, they would be considered
- 34:39Speaker 2: hit shows. Yeah, I mean.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Noie, Tom, was was ed written for you?
- 34:45Speaker 2: Or did you audition?
- 34:46Speaker 4: No? No, no, no, they didn't No, no, that was again,
- 34:49Speaker 4: that was NBC. They didn't want me at all, Like
- 34:52Speaker 4: we had to. They went through, I think a year
- 34:54Speaker 4: of casting known people and you know, better humans, you know.
- 35:00Speaker 1: And then well, you know, just just so people that
- 35:03Speaker 1: weren't in the entertainment industry know, they'll often try and
- 35:06Speaker 1: get a known star that's right, and if that doesn't
- 35:10Speaker 1: always work out for the reasons, and then they go, okay,
- 35:12Speaker 1: well let's start to read people that aren't famous yet,
- 35:15Speaker 1: and which is when this is how people like the
- 35:17Speaker 1: two of you. Well, yeah, I mean exactly exactly. It's
- 35:21Speaker 1: exactly how both Tom and I got our parts exactly.
- 35:24Speaker 4: I was like the third I think, the third round
- 35:26Speaker 4: or so of doing it. The only reason I had
- 35:28Speaker 4: that job. I remember how generous you were at Bill's
- 35:33Speaker 4: fortieth and we had the party, and he was you know,
- 35:38Speaker 4: you were like, you were just so gracious about because
- 35:41Speaker 4: you're clearly incredibly talented, and yet you had the wherewithal
- 35:45Speaker 4: to say, I owe so much to this guy. And
- 35:48Speaker 4: I had the same story. There's a Robernette and John
- 35:52Speaker 4: beckhaman who ran the Late Show with Letiman, were those
- 35:55Speaker 4: are the guys that the only reason I got the
- 35:57Speaker 4: job is those guys said this is the guy, and
- 36:00Speaker 4: you know, they managed to have enough stock that people
- 36:03Speaker 4: would listen to them. And without without somebody standing up
- 36:07Speaker 4: for you, sometimes you just it just doesn't you know,
- 36:09Speaker 4: it doesn't go your way. Those people are the only reason.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I got that job.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Do you know how many odd times you auditioned.
- 36:17Speaker 4: I know I auditioned once in Los Angeles, and you
- 36:23Speaker 4: know how it is when you're like, oh, that that
- 36:24Speaker 4: went well. You feel good about it, but I was
- 36:26Speaker 4: also like, okay, it was pilot season and it was
- 36:28Speaker 4: like one read during the day, but it felt good.
- 36:30Speaker 4: And then then they called me to have the the
- 36:35Speaker 4: sessions that they do. They have a studio session and
- 36:37Speaker 4: network session, and it was very It was like and
- 36:40Speaker 4: this is I hope this isn't boring.
- 36:43Speaker 2: I don't mean to talk about.
- 36:45Speaker 4: But they we went and we had to do it.
- 36:48Speaker 4: It was at CBS at the time. By the way,
- 36:49Speaker 4: I don't know if you guys know that show that
- 36:51Speaker 4: was CBS, not NBC, and CBS ultimately didn't think so
- 36:57Speaker 4: they got picked up at CBS, and then CBS ever
- 37:00Speaker 4: aired the show, and then a year later NBC picked
- 37:02Speaker 4: it up, which is weird.
- 37:03Speaker 1: So that never happens.
- 37:05Speaker 4: It never happened.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Every time you make a pilot, it's always such a
- 37:07Speaker 1: bizarre thing, both when I've been in them or when
- 37:09Speaker 1: I've directed them. You put so they put so much
- 37:12Speaker 1: money in, they put so much work in, and then
- 37:14Speaker 1: a network chooses what they choose, and then the disc
- 37:17Speaker 1: cards are like they have like the smell of shit
- 37:20Speaker 1: on them. No one will touch them, and it's like,
- 37:22Speaker 1: it's like, what someone just spent six million dollars making
- 37:25Speaker 1: this pilot. You could look at it and maybe RecA
- 37:28Speaker 1: maybe you could recast some things, you could you could
- 37:31Speaker 1: reshoot half of it, whatever, Well, why are you throwing
- 37:33Speaker 1: it all the way? It's so it's always a bizarre
- 37:36Speaker 1: waste of money to me, because there's there's diamonds in
- 37:39Speaker 1: the rough that no one is So this situation is
- 37:42Speaker 1: very rare that then another network weave man will take it.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I don't know that it ever happened before with CBS.
- 37:48Speaker 4: I think from what I the only reason that that
- 37:50Speaker 4: happened was again because Robert Nette and ran the Letterman show.
- 37:57Speaker 4: It was because Letterman had such a big he was
- 38:01Speaker 4: such a big paycheck, he was such a big entity
- 38:03Speaker 4: at the time. That was the only reason I think
- 38:05Speaker 4: that that that card. If a producer didn't have that
- 38:09Speaker 4: card to say that would probably have never never happened.
- 38:13Speaker 4: But when I went into to read, you know, ostensibly
- 38:16Speaker 4: the thing was a comedy with heart, and so you know,
- 38:20Speaker 4: you know, you know how these it's so funny how
- 38:21Speaker 4: these things change. So I went in to read. I
- 38:25Speaker 4: was solid and funny in the room and made them laugh.
- 38:27Speaker 4: And then normally, okay, the job is yours, this is
- 38:30Speaker 4: at the network read. But then somebody there's you know,
- 38:33Speaker 4: twenty five people in the room, and somebody starts going,
- 38:35Speaker 4: but but what about this this I don't like this
- 38:37Speaker 4: about him? And then that sort of you know, you
- 38:39Speaker 4: see that the next thing you know you had it
- 38:42Speaker 4: and then you don't have it right. And I remember
- 38:44Speaker 4: Rob and John came out and Rob was he had
- 38:47Speaker 4: this real serious face and he's like, look, so they
- 38:50Speaker 4: don't know if you can they don't know if you
- 38:52Speaker 4: can do straight drama. So even though it was a
- 38:57Speaker 4: comedic scene about a guy finding out that his wife
- 38:59Speaker 4: is eping, with a mailman and they're like, you just
- 39:03Speaker 4: need to do that scene again and throw out all
- 39:05Speaker 4: the comedy and play it like, you know, play it
- 39:07Speaker 4: like a Shakespeare tragedy. I was like, okay, oh my god.
- 39:11Speaker 4: And I went in and did that and you know,
- 39:15Speaker 4: just completely straight as possible, and they were like, okay,
- 39:18Speaker 4: he can he can do that too.
- 39:19Speaker 2: It's so amazing, the exact same speech I got pretty
- 39:22Speaker 2: much really fucked up. Yeah, pretty much.
- 39:24Speaker 1: When they weren't saying he fucked up. Donald legit fucked up.
- 39:26Speaker 1: He didn't say he fucked up.
- 39:27Speaker 2: No, I didn't. When I wore audition for Scrubs, I
- 39:30Speaker 2: got real big in the audition because it was a
- 39:32Speaker 2: comedic scene, and I got real big and animated, and
- 39:35Speaker 2: Bill had to come out and be like, dude, tone
- 39:38Speaker 2: that ship down.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Yeah, because it's funny, as you know, like I think,
- 39:44Speaker 4: sometimes an executive here's another executive speaking, goes, I better
- 39:48Speaker 4: weigh in as well, you know. So suddenly they're like
- 39:50Speaker 4: he's big, Yeah, he's too big, Yeah, he's too bid.
- 39:52Speaker 4: Suddenly it becomes this thing and you're like.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Oh, no, if actors, only if actors who have yet
- 39:56Speaker 1: to be in one of these rooms only knew.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, the.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Tight you're walking to try and get a fucking roll. Yeah,
- 40:02Speaker 1: oh dude, and how it just it just falls on
- 40:05Speaker 1: one person being like, I don't know what if, and
- 40:09Speaker 1: then all of a sudden you didn't have the part anymore,
- 40:11Speaker 1: and you had the part for a second.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Yeah right. I've been in a room and watch somebody
- 40:16Speaker 2: destroy it, like kill it, come in and destroy it,
- 40:20Speaker 2: and then someone else come in and do a really
- 40:22Speaker 2: good job but not destroy it. And I saw, well
- 40:27Speaker 2: the first person obviously, and one person in the room
- 40:29Speaker 2: was like, well, you know what, I'm not sure they
- 40:33Speaker 2: actually look like the part. You know what, You're right,
- 40:36Speaker 2: they don't necessarily look like the part. And all of
- 40:38Speaker 2: this doubt happened, and the person that crushed it did
- 40:42Speaker 2: not get the role, and the person that just did
- 40:44Speaker 2: good got the role.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Because there was getting tense just listening to this.
- 40:48Speaker 2: It's crazy, dude.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I was on working on something and this girl came
- 40:52Speaker 1: in and she was young, you know, she was like
- 40:55Speaker 1: a young Jennifer Gardner type. She was really pretty, she
- 40:57Speaker 1: was early twenties and super excs expressive and funny, and
- 41:01Speaker 1: I thought that she should get the part. Another girl
- 41:04Speaker 1: came in very very funny. Well, you could have done
- 41:06Speaker 1: it too, but I preferred the first girl. I thought
- 41:09Speaker 1: she was better. One of the executives goes, regarding the
- 41:11Speaker 1: first girl, the young Jennifer Garner type, She goes, she's
- 41:15Speaker 1: very expressive. Should we worry about her wrinkling early? Oh?
- 41:23Speaker 2: Wow?
- 41:24Speaker 1: Now, mind you, this is like a twenty early twenty
- 41:28Speaker 1: something year old girl and she's very pretty. And the
- 41:34Speaker 1: not only is that the most ludicrous thing you can
- 41:35Speaker 1: ever imaginenother human being saying, but in your mind, the
- 41:38Speaker 1: show is going to go so many years that her
- 41:42Speaker 1: wrinkles that come from her being expressive were going to
- 41:45Speaker 1: be a problem. I mean, it was the most ludicrous
- 41:47Speaker 1: thing I've ever heard of them a whole lot.
- 41:48Speaker 4: It's appalling. It's appalling. The other part of it is
- 41:52Speaker 4: actors can act, you know, and so so I don't
- 41:54Speaker 4: how many times, so like you've done a thing and
- 41:56Speaker 4: then like, yeah, the feedback is, yeah, we wanted it
- 41:59Speaker 4: a little bigger.
- 41:59Speaker 2: It's like say that ship, you know, say that ship.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Why don't you let me do the whole audit? Listen, man,
- 42:06Speaker 2: why did you let me do the whole audition? That
- 42:09Speaker 2: big then if that's the case, somebody in the room
- 42:11Speaker 2: could have said, hey, you know what, I love your choice.
- 42:14Speaker 2: You could be diplomatic about it. I loved your choice. Listen,
- 42:16Speaker 2: can you tone it down a little bit this time? Right?
- 42:19Speaker 2: You know what I mean? That never happens anymore, dude.
- 42:22Speaker 2: I do remember though, back in the day when I
- 42:24Speaker 2: was going out for auditions, and it would be like
- 42:26Speaker 2: somebody who was from the urban or from the streets
- 42:29Speaker 2: and stuff like that, and you'd get the can you
- 42:31Speaker 2: can you spice it up a little.
- 42:35Speaker 1: Something?
- 42:35Speaker 2: Can you can you put a little sauce on that?
- 42:39Speaker 1: No? How would they say it? Like what's the worst base?
- 42:41Speaker 2: One would say that, can you spice it up a
- 42:44Speaker 2: little bit? Spice it up a little? And you'd be
- 42:46Speaker 2: like what.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I had a producer say to me once about a script.
- 42:52Speaker 1: She goes, you know, she was this old lady. She goes,
- 42:55Speaker 1: you know, you could go black with it, and I go, okay, yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 1: that's that's there's no reason.
- 43:00Speaker 2: She goes, you know, they're doing their thing.
- 43:06Speaker 1: She did that. Judge, you guys can't see the jests
- 43:08Speaker 1: durem me and she sort of rocked back and forth.
- 43:10Speaker 1: She goes, you know, they're they're doing their thing. It
- 43:17Speaker 1: was one of the most awkward things I've ever witnessed.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I go, okay, so you want them to do their thing?
- 43:22Speaker 1: I got it? Oh my god, should we get it?
- 43:29Speaker 1: We have to take a break probably, and then we're
- 43:31Speaker 1: gonna get into the episode. All right, We'll be right
- 43:33Speaker 1: back with the Tom Kavanaugh.
- 43:41Speaker 2: We're bad, bad Hey.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Tom.
- 43:47Speaker 2: So we always talk about how everybody met Bill and
- 43:50Speaker 2: how you came to this show. You wound up during
- 43:53Speaker 2: the show for several seasons.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Yeah, lots of episodes you mss have. You must have
- 43:57Speaker 1: been one of our most recurring guest stars.
- 44:00Speaker 4: I don't know that, but I can tell you I
- 44:03Speaker 4: was always hugely grateful to get the call. I sort
- 44:07Speaker 4: of feel like even being on this podcast is sort
- 44:10Speaker 4: of like I've sort of, like I was telling your producers,
- 44:13Speaker 4: I've sort of like glommed my way on by like,
- 44:17Speaker 4: you know, get that somehow this got put out there.
- 44:19Speaker 4: But I also felt that same way about Scrubs, Like
- 44:21Speaker 4: I don't really do scrubs, but I sort of like
- 44:25Speaker 4: piggybacked on the back of their success. And I've been
- 44:27Speaker 4: basically a parasite this whole time, and I'm so so
- 44:30Speaker 4: grateful for it.
- 44:30Speaker 1: Because people loved you on the show. Tom.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Sorry, it's funny, how.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Like, no, no, but it's funny. How like when you
- 44:35Speaker 4: like it isn't anywhere, you can't find it anywhere. Most
- 44:38Speaker 4: of this a lot of stuff that's harder, harder to find.
- 44:41Speaker 4: And I would say Scrubs is the thing even though
- 44:45Speaker 4: you know you guys were you get all. You guys
- 44:47Speaker 4: did such a great job, but I did nothing. I
- 44:50Speaker 4: still get recognized all the time from I hear people
- 44:54Speaker 4: all the time want to say, hey, little brother, or
- 44:56Speaker 4: they remember this, remember the bathtub episode. I remember this
- 44:58Speaker 4: kind of thing. And you know, it was like ninety
- 45:00Speaker 4: years ago and people are still like it's still resonant.
- 45:02Speaker 4: It's on Comedy Central. It's just like it's it's lovely
- 45:04Speaker 4: to be associated with your success.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Well, people really loved you on the show. They really,
- 45:09Speaker 1: you know, when when when Donald and I talked about
- 45:12Speaker 1: having guests on a lot of people asked for the
- 45:16Speaker 1: Tom Kavanaugh. But wait a second, sorry, go back to
- 45:19Speaker 1: what Donald asked, How did you come about? How did
- 45:21Speaker 1: it come about? Did you know Bill or was it
- 45:22Speaker 1: the obvious that people thought he's on NBC? He looks
- 45:25Speaker 1: like Zach that kind of thing.
- 45:26Speaker 4: No, I I think I had been friendly with Bill
- 45:34Speaker 4: and we weren't. We weren't friends before we sort of
- 45:37Speaker 4: became friends throughout, but we had, you know, had spoken
- 45:41Speaker 4: and gotten along and he he and his wife had
- 45:46Speaker 4: always been like quite friendly and generous and stuff, and
- 45:49Speaker 4: so I think it must have been him saying, oh, okay,
- 45:52Speaker 4: I know Tom. I I have a friendly relationship with him,
- 45:57Speaker 4: and so this seems like a natural fit because of
- 46:00Speaker 4: how we look. I think you run into people and
- 46:03Speaker 4: you're like, I would like to work with this person again,
- 46:05Speaker 4: you know what I mean. That happens occasionally, and it
- 46:07Speaker 4: almost never happens. I think all your intentions are always great,
- 46:11Speaker 4: and yet you're still trying to have a job and survive,
- 46:14Speaker 4: and so sometimes it's quite quite difficult, given you know,
- 46:18Speaker 4: it's very difficult to repatriate again. So I think I
- 46:22Speaker 4: think maybe we got along and then he was like,
- 46:24Speaker 4: oh this is this could be a nice little one off,
- 46:26Speaker 4: But then it ended up being more, which.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Is tremendous because you're really good on the show Man Also,
- 46:32Speaker 2: you know, I we talk about this all the time
- 46:36Speaker 2: in remembering the shows. This is one of we talk
- 46:39Speaker 2: about it so much that it's become a bingo. It's
- 46:41Speaker 2: one of the bingo questions, Like somebody made a bingo sheet,
- 46:44Speaker 2: and on the bingo sheet it says they'll talk about
- 46:47Speaker 2: at some point, you know, if they talk about not
- 46:50Speaker 2: remembering the show, you get a letter, right, And this
- 46:54Speaker 2: is one of those moments because I really didn't remember
- 46:58Speaker 2: this episode that much. I knew the first episode I
- 47:01Speaker 2: remember you on is when John Ritter passed away and
- 47:05Speaker 2: then you out of nowhere, was like, yo, you know what,
- 47:07Speaker 2: I'll come in and now and wait, how is that
- 47:10Speaker 2: this one? That's not this one? That's not this one
- 47:13Speaker 2: at all?
- 47:14Speaker 4: That was another significant one that was such a again,
- 47:17Speaker 4: you know, I think I don't know if you had
- 47:19Speaker 4: because you're there and you have no basis of comparison
- 47:21Speaker 4: for you people. You guys were like all all all
- 47:24Speaker 4: your group was such a welcoming you know. It's it's
- 47:27Speaker 4: it's interesting because once you go through, you know, thirty
- 47:30Speaker 4: years of this stuff, it's not always you know, it's
- 47:33Speaker 4: not always a group like that, you know, And I
- 47:35Speaker 4: obviously don't know all the inside stories and stuff because
- 47:38Speaker 4: I would just come in and out. But but being
- 47:41Speaker 4: in a place where you felt welcomed and encouraged. And
- 47:47Speaker 4: the idea is that that you guys. I can remember
- 47:50Speaker 4: laughing so hard at the stuff you guys would do
- 47:52Speaker 4: that wasn't in the script, knowing that you would do
- 47:54Speaker 4: the stuff verbatim as it was in the script, knowing
- 47:56Speaker 4: that you would get your blows, your chances later. And
- 47:58Speaker 4: I thought, this is incredible, this this environment. I remember you,
- 48:02Speaker 4: Zach doing one of I've seen like the actor who
- 48:05Speaker 4: played Ross Kueller, David Swimmer, running to he had an
- 48:09Speaker 4: open laundry door and he like hits his head on
- 48:12Speaker 4: it and falls over there. That's one of the most
- 48:14Speaker 4: solid modern day praftfalls. And you did want to do
- 48:16Speaker 4: a glass door that was like we're just we're just watching,
- 48:19Speaker 4: you know. We were sitting by the monitors, and I
- 48:21Speaker 4: was like, I remember thinking this and this is like
- 48:23Speaker 4: years ago. I remember thinking, is I could watch him
- 48:25Speaker 4: do this all day long. Every time you didn't get
- 48:29Speaker 4: tired of it, You kept doing it. Every time you
- 48:30Speaker 4: did it, it was like seemed like better than the last.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I wanted to get it right, you know. I I
- 48:34Speaker 1: so enjoyed doing the physical comedy and and I would
- 48:37Speaker 1: get competitive just with myself wanting to be wanting to
- 48:41Speaker 1: wanting to make a really good one and and uh,
- 48:44Speaker 1: you know that was a bit of my that was
- 48:45Speaker 1: my sport if you will try to be good at
- 48:48Speaker 1: I remember one time in one of the episodes, you
- 48:50Speaker 1: jumped out and I just improved monsters. Yeah, And you know,
- 48:58Speaker 1: the fun thing about the show, as you were just saying,
- 49:01Speaker 1: was there was such a vibe of just safety, that is,
- 49:07Speaker 1: this is a safe environment. Go nuts, do be adventurous.
- 49:11Speaker 1: You know, Bill will tell you obviously get to it
- 49:13Speaker 1: as written, but he'll tell you if he wants you
- 49:15Speaker 1: to bring it down. But I was just watching this
- 49:18Speaker 1: your first episode, and you were making such.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Bold choices and right, souch is tricky.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Which is tricky because you know, we'd bound the show.
- 49:25Speaker 1: We're regulars, we're there all the time. We had we
- 49:27Speaker 1: had kind of built up that comfortableness for a guest
- 49:30Speaker 1: star to come on and be like, all right, I'm
- 49:32Speaker 1: gonna do a bold character. I'm gonna make bold choices.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I was really I was really impressed with you just
- 49:37Speaker 1: watching it back, because it's one thing if you do
- 49:38Speaker 1: it like on your fifth episode, here you are is
- 49:41Speaker 1: your first time on set your guest star of a
- 49:43Speaker 1: show that that's really popular, and you came up with
- 49:47Speaker 1: this character which was nothing like your character on ED
- 49:50Speaker 1: and was just bold and funny.
- 49:53Speaker 4: But it was probably a lot to do with, like
- 49:55Speaker 4: I say, just being around a place where people were like, hey,
- 50:00Speaker 4: have fun, enjoy I think I think it just bears
- 50:04Speaker 4: repeating that your show was such a such a place
- 50:08Speaker 4: where you know, you welcome people to do that very
- 50:10Speaker 4: thing you were talking about. I remember also being so impressed.
- 50:14Speaker 4: I'm sorry to talking about it, but it just it
- 50:17Speaker 4: just seemed like I remember season six coming in and
- 50:19Speaker 4: doing something and I remember thinking, I remember watching on
- 50:22Speaker 4: different shows i'd done, how you know people buy into like, well,
- 50:27Speaker 4: how what's our place in the universe of television? Like
- 50:30Speaker 4: are we popular? Are we?
- 50:31Speaker 3: You know?
- 50:31Speaker 4: Are we getting enough attention? And I think you guys
- 50:35Speaker 4: probably had you know, the NBA, Why don't they promote us?
- 50:38Speaker 4: All that kind of stuff. But I remember coming in
- 50:41Speaker 4: on season six and watching you had settled into this
- 50:44Speaker 4: thing like this is us and this is for us,
- 50:46Speaker 4: and it was such a smart and intelligent way to
- 50:50Speaker 4: understand that life is fleeting, this is fleeting, and so
- 50:53Speaker 4: let's just all be for this show and when you
- 50:56Speaker 4: when you come from a different place and you come
- 50:59Speaker 4: into that, it influenced me for the rest of my
- 51:03Speaker 4: career to go, this is really what you want. People
- 51:05Speaker 4: who are have each other's backs, who are for each other,
- 51:07Speaker 4: who want to just do this scene right now as
- 51:11Speaker 4: best as they can, and what more is that?
- 51:14Speaker 1: Yeah? Speaking of doing a scene, really well, how fucking
- 51:17Speaker 1: funny are you stealing the lab coat and going in
- 51:20Speaker 1: to attend to a patient?
- 51:22Speaker 2: That shit was hilarious, Yeah, mister laughed, before we do that.
- 51:27Speaker 2: Before we do that, let's get into this, uh recap?
- 51:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sorry, So Tom every episode, Donald will sum
- 51:36Speaker 1: it up. He has thirty seconds. I time him.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Yes, and this is great.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Okay, So Donald, hold on getting my stopwatch up. He's
- 51:43Speaker 1: been crushing it lately. He got in a little cocky
- 51:46Speaker 1: l and and and ending early, which I don't like.
- 51:49Speaker 1: I like you to fill your time now, this might
- 51:51Speaker 1: go over. Okay, on your mark, get set go.
- 51:56Speaker 2: J D's brother Dan comes to visit. He wrecks havoc
- 51:59Speaker 2: on all of j these relationships. JD wishes his brother
- 52:02Speaker 2: would just grow up. Turk and Cocks are beefing again,
- 52:05Speaker 2: this time because both have good arguments on why their
- 52:07Speaker 2: departments are better at saving lives. By the act break,
- 52:10Speaker 2: j D and Turk are shame Turk of himself, JD
- 52:13Speaker 2: of his brother. For Turk, it takes a lesson from
- 52:15Speaker 2: an unexpected person for him to regain faith that he's
- 52:18Speaker 2: doing his job the right way. For JD, it's him
- 52:21Speaker 2: learning and understanding that not all people are built the same.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Some people are content with who they are. How far
- 52:27Speaker 2: did I go over?
- 52:28Speaker 1: It's thirty six, But you had some fuck ups, and
- 52:30Speaker 1: I think the audience.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Is to give you geez.
- 52:33Speaker 4: I thought it was amazing.
- 52:35Speaker 1: It's well done. It's well done. I think when you
- 52:36Speaker 1: were hurt, I don't think you we rehearsed this time. Sometimes.
- 52:39Speaker 2: No, it's freaking We're an hour into the damn show.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I expected to do it.
- 52:45Speaker 1: He didn't know that Tom Cavanaugh was going to be
- 52:47Speaker 1: so interesting.
- 52:48Speaker 2: I said, listen, I knew Tom was going to be
- 52:50Speaker 2: this interesting. So you're saying we were going to get
- 52:51Speaker 2: into the show.
- 52:52Speaker 1: You're saying is that you we rehearsed right before he
- 52:54Speaker 1: went on the air. And now you're rusty, and.
- 52:56Speaker 2: I was rusty. If you give me another chance, I
- 52:58Speaker 2: bet it's better.
- 52:59Speaker 1: No on here again, sick, good job. You know what, well,
- 53:02Speaker 1: you know what, We'll have Dan speed it up a
- 53:04Speaker 1: little bit. No, we can't do no thirty six seconds.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Thirty six well done though. Well yes, well that's the
- 53:11Speaker 1: episode to remind you, Tom. We did this as a
- 53:13Speaker 1: service to people who want a brief reminder of what
- 53:15Speaker 1: the episode was Tom. Tom comes to visit me. He's
- 53:19Speaker 1: been driving a car across the country as a for
- 53:23Speaker 1: for three hundred dollars, and uh, he has no fear
- 53:26Speaker 1: of doctor Cox, which is just mind boggling me. And
- 53:28Speaker 1: I'm squirming that he's I'm squirming as he meets Cox
- 53:32Speaker 1: for the first time and is fucking with doctor Cox.
- 53:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be the best day of my life.
- 53:37Speaker 2: If I went to my brother's job and he had
- 53:40Speaker 2: a boss that was bullying him, and I could freaking
- 53:44Speaker 2: and I know that no matter what, he's gotta get
- 53:46Speaker 2: bullied anyway, I'm gonna fuck some shit up. Then how
- 53:49Speaker 2: about this, Oh Ert, you gotta mess with my little brother.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Now I'm gonna mess with you. Yeah, I remember good day.
- 53:55Speaker 1: I think I remember on the day Tom even being
- 53:57Speaker 1: nervous in real life because I was so you know,
- 54:02Speaker 1: Johnny was Johnny and I we wear versions of our
- 54:05Speaker 1: characters and and we would just play that. Now you
- 54:07Speaker 1: came in as an alpha fucking with him, and I
- 54:09Speaker 1: think I think I recalled even on the day being
- 54:11Speaker 1: a little uncomfortable, but I think didn't like it.
- 54:15Speaker 2: And I'm sure he did.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Because nobody in that hospital, in the real world or
- 54:21Speaker 1: on or in the world of the show fucked with him,
- 54:24Speaker 1: and he had gotten quite comfortable with that. And now
- 54:26Speaker 1: here's someone who.
- 54:27Speaker 2: Looks just like me walking with him.
- 54:32Speaker 1: But that was great. And then so the let's talk
- 54:34Speaker 1: about that Rickles moment. That was pretty fucking funny.
- 54:36Speaker 2: That ship was hilarious. I love the fact that the
- 54:38Speaker 2: reason why it's gonna happen is because he hears Bambi
- 54:42Speaker 2: and you're like, all right, I don't want you to
- 54:43Speaker 2: call me bamb before the rest of my life. I'll
- 54:45Speaker 2: la wear a lab coat with a lap cooat. And
- 54:48Speaker 2: he walks in, and he goes and you know, and
- 54:50Speaker 2: and and we find out just before he walks in
- 54:53Speaker 2: that the guy's gotta live and that the surgery was
- 54:56Speaker 2: everything was a success. And the first thing Tom says,
- 54:59Speaker 2: Dan says, it was touch and go.
- 55:01Speaker 1: For and then he goes, you got out. We got
- 55:05Speaker 1: to look out for those little rickles, and he goes,
- 55:07Speaker 1: name is.
- 55:09Speaker 4: He's like the little reckles the kids future.
- 55:13Speaker 1: And then I go, okay, thank you, and you go,
- 55:15Speaker 1: damn it, Babby, I'm busy to find a good nurse
- 55:20Speaker 1: these days. And shot was really funny by Michael Spiller.
- 55:26Speaker 1: When you when you turn around. Yeah, I'm always a
- 55:29Speaker 1: sucker for the quick turnaround.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Yes, of course, damn it, Bamby, give me a second.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, I'm busy.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Hilarious, And now my nightmare would be my brother coming
- 55:41Speaker 1: and flirting with someone that I had feelings for and
- 55:45Speaker 1: let alone also your friend. I mean, this is like
- 55:48Speaker 1: always awkward when you have a friend that's like, I
- 55:51Speaker 1: don't know if this guy's ever happened to you, where
- 55:53Speaker 1: like you broke up with someone and then you see
- 55:55Speaker 1: your friends starting to like and you're like, what the fuck?
- 55:59Speaker 1: And and and I just I felt for JD as
- 56:02Speaker 1: you as you and Sarah are walking down the hall
- 56:04Speaker 1: and flirting.
- 56:04Speaker 2: And it's cruel.
- 56:05Speaker 4: It's awful.
- 56:06Speaker 1: It's so fucking mean.
- 56:07Speaker 4: It's awful.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's mean, by the way, It's mean on both parts.
- 56:11Speaker 1: It's mean on, it's mean on. I mean, you guys
- 56:13Speaker 1: have a brother. You guys those two characters had had
- 56:16Speaker 1: a brother competition thing, obviously, but the fact that Elliott
- 56:20Speaker 1: was so willing to just like dive in and be
- 56:23Speaker 1: all like gigy, that was so cruel.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it was mean. It was like, ah, he's so funny,
- 56:27Speaker 4: and he's not really that funny, but he was just
- 56:29Speaker 4: being kid. You're like, ah, yeah, I know, that's okay.
- 56:31Speaker 4: You just and then the idea that wait, this is
- 56:34Speaker 4: actually happened, This is happening, is happening.
- 56:37Speaker 2: You know. I love I love the how he realizes
- 56:40Speaker 2: it's happening out of nowhere. You turned day tonight bym
- 56:44Speaker 2: flicking a switch.
- 56:47Speaker 1: That was great. And then they start totally making out
- 56:50Speaker 1: and then and then they pop back to reality. And
- 56:52Speaker 1: then in reality, I yell, stop your stop your stupid laughing.
- 56:56Speaker 1: It makes you look like a whore.
- 56:58Speaker 4: Right, and you're like kidding, just the worst thing you
- 57:02Speaker 4: could say.
- 57:03Speaker 1: And then the way I did it was like vomiting
- 57:06Speaker 1: it up, like I couldn't, I couldn't hold in the rain.
- 57:09Speaker 4: You skewed it out.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Yeah, stupid laughing. It makes you look like goodness, gras
- 57:16Speaker 2: jump cut. Yeah, I must have been tricky to shoot.
- 57:19Speaker 1: We must have done the first part and then come back.
- 57:21Speaker 2: We did.
- 57:22Speaker 4: We did. Then we came back at night and Sarah
- 57:24Speaker 4: had this idea we were both chewing gum to like
- 57:25Speaker 4: spit the gum out, you know, and then like, you know,
- 57:29Speaker 4: have the all the fun two three four.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Were you called that chewing gum like throughout the whole
- 57:34Speaker 1: scene or do you you both? You know, sometimes when
- 57:36Speaker 1: you're an actor, you know you're going to make out
- 57:37Speaker 1: with someone, you want to have fresh minty breath. Was it?
- 57:39Speaker 4: I think she? I think she no. I think she
- 57:42Speaker 4: added gum later on, because there was. It was one
- 57:46Speaker 4: of two things. One is like you kiss the person,
- 57:48Speaker 4: then they have the gum that you had in your
- 57:50Speaker 4: mouth not great or you know, pew pew. And I
- 57:53Speaker 4: think she we realized we could have a we could
- 57:55Speaker 4: double down on the comedy moment by spitting our gum out.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Before used to happen. We used to have Banaka on set,
- 58:01Speaker 1: not not just for.
- 58:02Speaker 4: I remember you guys had the You guys had the
- 58:06Speaker 4: You also had the boom things that melt in your mouth.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, it does give you heartburn.
- 58:10Speaker 1: They give me heartburn. Yeah, we both both Donald and
- 58:12Speaker 1: I would have too many and they would give us heartburn.
- 58:15Speaker 1: But the old school aerosol spray baknaka, which is my favorite.
- 58:20Speaker 1: We started having it just from we had kissing scenes
- 58:22Speaker 1: and we didn't want to have bad breath for our
- 58:24Speaker 1: scene partner. But then it became like, you know, we
- 58:26Speaker 1: were all friends, all up in each other's faces all
- 58:28Speaker 1: day long. We were like, let's make a rule everybody,
- 58:30Speaker 1: we don't have bad breath, and so we would like
- 58:32Speaker 1: just be spraying a NonStop.
- 58:34Speaker 2: Dude. I remember, it became how many can you spray
- 58:37Speaker 2: in your mouth? And I burn his mouth like tin
- 58:41Speaker 2: under the tongue, just for ships and giggles.
- 58:44Speaker 1: And eventually our boom operator velcrode one to the boom
- 58:48Speaker 1: and and we called it boom naka and we'd be
- 58:52Speaker 1: like Kevin boom knaka and he would just dip the
- 58:54Speaker 1: boom down. We'd pull the ASO off off the mic
- 58:58Speaker 1: it was on beltrow and then it attach it back up.
- 59:01Speaker 1: That's great a right there, that's some Yeah. That was
- 59:03Speaker 1: so though we thought he was gonna do it for
- 59:05Speaker 1: like a day as a joke, it was up there
- 59:06Speaker 1: for years, same same.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Canister, hopefully hopefully changed out.
- 59:13Speaker 1: I like when at five twenty four when when Cox goes, well,
- 59:17Speaker 1: people please stop calling me, Yeah, and then Kelsoe goes, hey,
- 59:20Speaker 1: I'm nuts. Sorry, I'm nuts.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Hey, how's it going. I'm nuts.
- 59:27Speaker 4: He had another one in there where was like I
- 59:29Speaker 4: don't have time for pity or something like that.
- 59:31Speaker 2: Yeah, right, when he's talking to Johnny Castle.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I wrote that down too, And why does
- 59:37Speaker 1: why does well? First of all, when you scare me
- 59:39Speaker 1: in the shower? Hilarious. That was the first of many
- 59:41Speaker 1: scared we.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Did, like ten we did ten. Do you remember that.
- 59:44Speaker 4: I remember I remember waiting, waiting in the thing behind
- 59:49Speaker 4: the curtain and like thinking, oh this, maybe this one
- 59:51Speaker 4: will do this. Like there was we had like five
- 59:53Speaker 4: or six different ones, and I think the first one
- 59:55Speaker 4: was really terrifying for you.
- 59:57Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Uh, it's funny.
- 59:59Speaker 1: I just put two and two together that I guess
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: we bought the clear shower curtain that's in the opening
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: of the show, right, because wasn't there a clear shower
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: curtain when you scare me?
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: No, no, there isn't a shower curtain that it's opaque.
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: When I come out because you don't see me.
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: And then right and you thought it looks like it's clear.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: I thought, I have, I have because you have.
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: You guys have that runner earlier on.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're we're shopping for a clear shower curtain
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: and then whereas it it is five point thirty two.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I'm just curious because it'd be funny if we, uh
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: we happen to keep the shower.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: Yeah it's clear.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: Oh goodness, how could it?
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Then? How can you have bought it?
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: We actually bought it? There you go, Okay, look at
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: that continuity. Yeah, I mean I got air. Dude, you
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: scared the ship out of me. And I mean in
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: real life, and I think the character. But I obviously
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: had a nice juicy map behind me because I like
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: literally flew up.
- 1:00:52Speaker 4: Yes, yes it's solid and once again, Zach.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Braft Solid, Zach Braft Special.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: It's good stuff.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I laughed. When he makes her own Halloween candy, she.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Says she's dressed.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: First of all, she's dressed like raggedy ann and uh
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: and there's like this bowl of popcorn and homemade lollipops,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: and she says something like, if you want name brand stuff,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: this fist is packed with nuts or something.
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: This episode was actually written by Tim Hobert. Yes, I believe.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Was he with us the first season, Well, he came
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: in on second him was.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: Not their first season, no, but he's a very funny writer.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: So this is his first big episode. This is first
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: episode of the season. Then. Yeah, and also Mike Spiller's
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: back as our director.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: We like Spiller a lot. This is the first episode
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: in which I read on Scrubs Wiki this is the
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: first episode that you're ever called Gandhi by doctor Cox.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: That's interesting. Sarah's sister is actually one of the interns
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: in this episode. Also, yeah, and Cox is I mean
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: when Kelso's doing rounds in the beginning, Sarah.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: When Kelso pulls he hates the costumes, and he pulls
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: some cat ears off, and that's Sarah's sister, not not
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: her younger sister, obviously, that's it's her older sister. And
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: then I noticed that Johnny Castle playing Doug. He takes
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: off the clown, knows and kisses it. And I remember
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: on the day thinking that was so random and funny,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: but I have no idea why he does it. It's
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: very weird.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I know exactly.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: He takes the clown that Kelso says, take that fucking
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: costume off, and he takes the nose off, and he
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: looks at it and he gives a little kiss before
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: he fucking which is just so weird and amazing.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: I don't know why he did it, but yeah, the
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: scene between you and Johnny C when you win the
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: bet is like, to me, that was just such classic
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: Scrubs because it's it's good in the in and of
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: itself with the comedy's just hilarious, especially when you're celebrating
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: and it kind of goes on, then it goes on,
- 1:02:49Speaker 4: then it keeps going on, which I personally it's funny.
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: Then it's sort of maybe not funny. Then it's really
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: funny because you just keep doing it. You do the
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: backward why, and it's just all the different beats of
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: your comedy there just like I had me laughing and
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: I'd forgotten the scene and then and then there's then
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: there's that other level where he's like, yes, which is
- 1:03:09Speaker 4: what that's what your show did so well, where it's
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: like you have the great comedy and that could just
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: on another show that would just be enough. And then
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: it's like there's a hammer a gravitas that still works.
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: It's beautiful. It ends with ends with you like with
- 1:03:20Speaker 4: a legit serious moment considering this information. It's great.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: It's a matter of Joelle and you just look like
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: you freaked on him on something.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Oh Gena Price Price when heard a thing I did
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: and I love her?
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Sorry, okay, wait what happened? I'm sorry?
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Wait what happened? I figure since you distracted the show,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: you're gonna have to share what happened?
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: Sorry, Gina Price bikeele It is a amazing director.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: She directed Love Basketball and she just has a new
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: movie out on Netflix.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Cold Oh my gosh.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: The Old Guard.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: Yes, black lady who's been working for a very long time,
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: and I love her.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: She used to write on Felicity, like season one of Felicity,
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: she wrote, and then she went on to all right,
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: but what happen?
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: And that made your face light up because I thought
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: it was Tom's use of the word gravitas.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Acknowledge my existence. I get so excited.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: Oh well, congratulations what did she say? What she like,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: you're one of the articles you've written or something.
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I did a pod talking about the new movie
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: and she was like this was so great. I was like,
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: oh my god, that's okay. That's always good to be apologetic,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: I just want the listeners to know from my point
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: of view. Tom said the word gravitas, and Joel's face
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: lit up and she started like doing the hand thing
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: where you might cry, and I'm like, wow, Joelle really
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: loves the word gravias.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: She had better reasons to celebrate, better reasons to celebrate.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: I'm glad to hear it wasn't gravitas either, the old
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: guarden plug. That's good.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: That would be that would be the funniest ship ever.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: But she just loves the word gravat whenever she whenever
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: she hears it, she has to fan her eyes. I
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: love Donald. You're bragging about having two singles in your wallet.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: You say hello mister when he gives you the funny
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Hello Jackson me introduced you to the Washington Brothers.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Right now, you guys getting nice and acquainted and.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: You're dancing.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: There was so funny, man, Yes, I had a lot
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: of I had a lot of fun doing that. I'm
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: sure I did. It's it's really weird, you know how
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: things change. Because everybody did a Michael Jackson impersonation. Back
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: in the day, everybody did it. I can't recall the
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: last time I've seen Michael Jackson impersonation. He's been a very,
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: very long time.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Now, you probably if we were doing the show now,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: you probably wouldn't be doing so many Michael Jackson's Now.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I love a Growing Pain shout out for those of
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: you who were too young to know. Growing Pains was
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: a very popular sitcom and starring Kirk Cameron. And uh
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: when when I when when we all go to lunch,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I say, oh, no, I'm trying to defend Dan. Oh no,
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: he lives with my mom, but he's got his own area.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: He's like Kirk Cameron when he's looking about the garage
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: with Boner. And Kirk Cameron had a friend in the
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: show name name Boner, which made no sense. Why was
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: his friend named Boner? Everyone knows what his name.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: His last name was the Bone, and his dad's name
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: was Sylvester.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: But then you right, you yell out to the room Boner.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: Come on, everyone, it's too too low hanging fruit.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: No Boner speaking of laging. You guys didn't hear what
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: I said. His dad's name Will was Sylvester and his
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: last name is Sta Bone Sylvester Stabone. Yeah, do you
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: know the Growing Pains theme instead of Sylvester Stallone Sylvester Stabone.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: Do you know?
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: No?
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: I get it.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Okay, it just wasn't that funny. I guess I'm sorry.
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: I thought it was hilarious when I first heard it.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Joe kids, wait a second, Boner, your dad's name is
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Sylvester Stabone. And then he turns back and looks that
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: Mike and goes, who knew.
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: What? Joe joke?
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: Donald? Do you know the theme song? Tom?
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: Tom?
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: You might not know this, but Donald can sing song.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: If you tell me how it starts, I could sing it.
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: Show me that smart Okay, Zech, I got it. Don't
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: waste another man it on your crying. And we're nowhere
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: near the end. Her best is edit to begain. Oh okay,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: started too high.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: As long as we go.
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Each other, we got the world hanging right and our
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: hands baby rain or shine foot all the time. Okay,
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: we've got each other sharing the left of love, sharing
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: the left.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: So I'm gonna release an album Tom of Donald.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: We have to show that dignity. The show that did
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: every season they did a different version of that song.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: Oh really, They also at some point they had a
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: baby and then they were like, the baby's boring, and
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: next season she's gonna be five.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: And also they.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: Also had nobody else to age, but the baby was
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: all of a sudden five.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: They also like fostered a kid for a little bit.
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Who was young Leonardo DiCaprio.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Oh, that's right, young Leo's first show, I believe.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Well, I don't know if it was his first.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: But there's really cute. I've seen like you know when
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: they do like, you know, you know, remember who this
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: little boy was. I've seen like his first interviewers. I
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: just love being an actor and I'm just happy to
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: be with these guys.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: It was really cute, and now look at him.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Donald has a little Leo crushed. Tommy comes up almost
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: every episode.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: I love Leonardo DiCaprio. Yeah, so last one of my
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: favorite actors of all time.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: One of our last episodes ended with Donald talking about
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: trying to doc with no no no no no no no.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: Explained later, break we got, we gotta go to break.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: We gotta guess guys, we used to bring just we
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: should go to break, guys. I'm just break.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: We'll be right back after Donald doc Leo.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, So what's on again?
- 1:09:15Speaker 4: What did he say?
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: What was that?
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: I did not say I wanted to dock with Leo.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: I just said I thought he was a great actor.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: We went to break, We went.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: We haven't gonkay yet. All right, now we're going to break.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: We gotta. I think we need to clarify this because
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: I don't want it out there and the ethos that
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: somebody that I'm walking around telling people I want to
- 1:09:32Speaker 2: dock with Leo because that ain't what's happening here.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Okay, that does not want to dock Leo. Everybody, Yes,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: he does. We're going to break, all right, now we're
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: back tom. We take a caller here on this show
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: and Joel curates them. There are zillions of people that
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: email her and try and send her payola. Uh and
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: she it's all steps, all the money, she accepts, all
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: the money, all the money sends.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: You sending money to Joel, do it the right way,
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: don't send like sending the real deal. How we feel
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: thought if you don't get picked, but money does help.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: But you know, cash is a little crass. What you
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: could sell send baskets. Cash is crash. I don't know
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: if it has ever said that before, but I was
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: a good line. Cash is crass, Cash is crash. Send
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: the woman a wine basket or some of God's let us. Uh,
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: she'll take either one. O. G.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Cush is preferred.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Who do we have today? Preferred for the Tom Cavanaugh? Who?
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Who's America's favorite older brother?
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: We had nurse Christina.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Christina, Hello, where are you calling from? Christina Kuston and the.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: Uh, Christina, you're an e ournurse we heard, so that
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: means you're gonna get even more respect than the average caller.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: We give our callers a lot of respect, but er
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: nurse gets top respect.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: From Well, thank you. What's it like?
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: What's it like right now? You guys are in Houston?
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: It's it sucks?
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, what's the status?
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I think I had heard that Texas was legitimately running
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: out of ICU beds.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we tried to ship out a critical
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: patient the other night and couldn't get a hospital that
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: could take him in Houston. We tried to life fight
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: himut because we didn't have a specialist for it and
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: could not find a hospital.
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: It's tragic.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Oh, it's tragic, my God. And people need to hear
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: from people like you on the front lines, because I
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: think a lot of people, you know, as we've talked
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: about on the show, Donald and I lost a friend
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: and uh, and I think people like you who run
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: the front lines, people like us who've lost a loved one,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: we're seeing him. And Dan was explaining something on the show.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: I thought that was really really landing with me that
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: unless you're on the front lines and the seeing it,
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: you can kind of live in this sort of dream
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: world where you, you know, you're just you know, obviously,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I know people are suffering, they're not working, and the
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: kids aren't in school, but it cannot it's a little
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: bit out of sight, out of mind. Whereas someone like you,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: who's seeing this every single day, it must be just
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: very very traumatic for you.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: That we also see what COVID does to people too,
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: what and and and and a lot of people that's
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: something that Americans don't see. We don't see the uh,
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: what's what's left up people after COVID has ravaged their
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: bodies and uh and and you know, rectabit or rectabic
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: on their organs and stuff. So uh, it's just a.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: It's a slab in the face when we're risking our
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: lives and then people are on here saying it's a
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: hoax or that it's a It's just frustrating because we
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: don't have any reason to lie.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: About it, right, I know, I know, but we see that.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: But we see that. I see even in our comments
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: on on Instagram.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Won't not even saw this. Donald.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: People were like, enough of the mask talk. You're becoming
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: like every other show. And I want to like throw
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: my fucking phone at the wall because I was like,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: our friend just died, so there's gonna be some COVID
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: talk wear a fucking mask, right, But anyway, we thank
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: you for for I just think there's nothing more noble
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: than being a nurse. And there's extra cherry on top
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: for doing it in the er because the things you
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: must see.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: And I want to thank y'all real quick for the
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: video that y'all did with Neil Patrick Harris thanking all
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: the healthcare workers. It did not get enough props, but
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: it really meant something.
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Oh thank you. So let's switch to something more like
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: our main mission is to make people gig a little bit.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Do you have any questions for for us about scrubs
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: or anything? It could be about the flash. I don't know.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: My first question is, what's the craziest thing.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: A fan has asked, y'all, Oh my gosh, have you
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: ever signed anyone? And then they you saw them again
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: and they were like, I turned your signature into a tattoo. Yes,
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: I've had that, And people get tattoos of you?
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Is that weird? Yeah? I was talking about this yesterday.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: There's some really weird tattoos of me out there. And
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: also I actually like the ones some people have tattooed
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: lines from Garden State that were meaningful to them a
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: film I wrote so I that I think is really
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: cool because my something I came up with was meant
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: enough to them to put on their body as a
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: as a as whatever a mantra if you will. But
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: but I've seen like like the weirdest faces I've made
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: on Scrubs where I'm like, you know, like screaming out
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: of fear, like actually in this episode with Tom where
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: I'm like screaming out of fear, And I've seen that
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: on like someone's thigh. Donald, I saw a tattoo of
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: you that as Churk that looked so nothing like you.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: It looked nothing like me. It looked like Charles Barkley.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: You're on my back and it looked like Charles literally.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Now you know, as a kid, I was a big
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: fan of Charles Barklay. But it didn't look anything like me.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: It looked literally like Charles Barkley. Right, the weirdest thing
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: that's ever happened to me. I get a lot of
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: people asking for it to eat.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Yes, that happens to you a lot because they think
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: you're very strong and they don't know.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: I can hold a lot of people up there. Yeah,
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: but it's it's donald.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: You do let a lot more people mount you than
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: I would ever.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Listen, if you are brave enough to ask me, I
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: will most likely oblige now that you should.
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: Let me mount you.
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: Now said most likely? He said most likely.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Fine print That being said.
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: That, the fine print, Tom is like you must have
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: been under a certain amount of weight before trying to
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: please inst all permission. Don't do it in front of
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: his children or his wife will Bitchlapy.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: Well, the fine print is the fine print truly is
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: like it has to be a special occasion. It can't
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: just be out of nowhere, like you walk down the
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: street and like let's eagle and that's not gonna happen.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: It has to be you know, it has to be
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: something like if I'm at a conference and it's you
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: know what I mean, and they got to catch you,
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: you're not woozy. So that's the one thing that that's
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: the one thing that that's pretty weird is that being
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: asked to eagle. It's like, really, you want to jump
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: on my back? You feel that comfortable right now to
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: walk up to me ask me to give you an
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: ask and ask me to give you a piggyback ride?
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Tom, have you ever had a weird fan moments? I
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: bet some of your young flash fans have asked for
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: something odd.
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: I think, just what you were saying earlier, I think
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: it really tests your metal as an actor when somebody
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: suddenly unveils a tattoo of you on them, because you know,
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: I think the reaction they're looking for is like, oh,
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: that's great, wow, you know, but really your reaction is ah, right, yeah,
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: you know, and you really got it. You got to
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: try and cover that as best you can because they've got,
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: you know, a permanent ink on their body.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Read it.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: I'm just wor of course, you you're naturally.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Assumed they're going to regret it. You think the next day.
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: You don't think you're going to end up seeing it ever,
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: But yeah, of course it's going to be a massive regret.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Well, we talked before you came on to about how
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna get Donald on my face, just like Joel Joel.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Joel reminded us that I should not attempt to shade
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: it in at all because.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Uh huh, I listened. I listened to your episode.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Yeah listen, of course, Yeah, Joel, you guys were very well.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Joelle just came on in a moment of nervousness being like, guys, guys.
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: Here's the voice, here's the voice of reason.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Please listen to the voice of I assure Joel that
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: would be solely an outline of his beautiful face.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: How many people have sent you in Apple Teini in
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: the bar?
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Oh, that's a very good question. That's happened a bunch.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: I got and sent a lot of Apple teini's, and
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: they don't.
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: I don't don't like apple. Just be honest, it's very sweet.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: It's sugar, I don't.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: I mean, I understand it. If you're if you're young,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: or if you're if you're out for a night and
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: you want to have a funny cocktail, but I just
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: think that if you you shouldn't get drunk on them
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: because they are so filled.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: With sugar headache. The next day.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: I'm one of the owners of a restaurant in New
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: York that I'll give a plug to now called the
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Mermaid Oyster Bar and seventy seventy nine McDougall if you'd
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: like to check it out when the world reopens.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: But do they serve oysters at this oyster Yes?
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: They have the sixteen different types of oysters. Wow, I
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: love that you just said do they serve oysters at
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: this oyster bar?
- 1:18:28Speaker 4: He was trying to trying to see if it was no.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: Good, he'd be a good friend and trying to be like,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: tell us more about this. So you probably want to
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: know about our lobster roll.
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Donald, Do you have a lobster roll?
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Oh, we have lobster roll in Manhattan. I'll tell you
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: that right now.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Really.
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: And my point was is that the owner told me
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: that He's like, do you have the idea why people
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: keep coming in and ordering Apple teenies? And he's like,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know, but can you make
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: them He's like, no, we're not making apple teinis, but
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: just people, just tell your fans to stop ordering.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: Out when we were young and they were tasty, though,
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Do you like them, Christina?
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: A little sweet for me?
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: Do you have another question for us? Christina?
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: So Scrubs one, What is your most memorable scene that
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: you filmed? O?
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: Heavy question? Good question.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Wow, Well Tom can go first because he's the test.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: He's got less to think about it because he's only
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: did six or so episodes.
- 1:19:27Speaker 4: It's easy. It was just, you know, I loved almost
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: every scene we did for comedy. There was one where
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: the three of us were.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Part buddies where we did the farts.
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: Yeah, we were goofing around the thing and that we
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: had to we were eating breakfast and then we had
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: to go. I had to go to the bathroom and
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: it just became this long running I'll be in there
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: for one minute, two minutes, five minutes, ten minutes, one minute.
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: And then the other one was just the John Ritter stuff.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: To have been like a part of that with with
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: you guys, was you know, it was, it was meaningful.
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: Certainly the bath to the bathtub scene was a little
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: less fun than you might expect. At one point, John
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: c Riley is like, by now you're sitting in a
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: bounts to probably eighty percent of your own urine. And
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: I think that was probably closer to the truth. So
- 1:20:15Speaker 4: less fun. But at the same time, you know, it's
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: one thing that I hear a lot, you know about
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: the Captain bubble Beeerd or whatever the heck it was called. Anyway,
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: you guys, that's enough. Now you've had enough time. I've stalled,
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: well enough, I feel, and now you guys have the
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: tarmac ready talk about your best shows.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: We answered something similar to this recently, but I wonder
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: if it's the same answer for you.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Donald, go ahead, well the Star Wars, Oh yeah, you're right.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Also getting the opportunity to do an Indiana Jones situation
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: in someone's colon, it was a lot of fun, right,
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: doing the whole opening to Raters of the Lost Dark
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: in side of someone's colony. Fun. And then, to be
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: honest with you, one of my favorite scenes, it's a
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: song but Zach and I singing everything comes down to Pooh.
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: Still to this day is one of my like I
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: watched that with the smile, and I can't watch a
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: lot of the things that I do, but that's one
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: thing that I've done where I'm like that was. That
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: was fucking a great time shooting that.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, one of my favorite times was repelling across the
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: fake city street on the Universal back lot on the
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: episode where Donald and I go on a quest to
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: find Molly, Heather Graham's character, and we repel across the
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: street and then nail the wall and I fall into
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: a bunch of garbage and then I get up and
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: she looks at me, and I act like I'm surprised
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: to see.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: Her, and I go, Molly, what are you doing here?
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: That was just the most fun because you know, do.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: You remember how you got the to repel across the
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: rope which I pulled off of you? No, you pulled
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: my gown off of me. I did I have a
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: gown on it or it wasn't a shirt? Yeah?
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Yeah? And I go and I go, yeah, I pull
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: it off and you gasp and then you're shirtless.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: And then I turn it.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I turn I turned into a thing to repel across
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: the street and then and then I go Molly, and
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: she goes, what are you doing here? And then all
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: of a sudden, you just see Donald in the background
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: drop down into frame naked. So that was just so
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: fun because you know, we didn't always Yeah, as I've
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: said before on the podcast, that episode was like so epic.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: We didn't always do episodes that were that big. And
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: there we were like taking over the universal backlat to
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: do that scene, and I was directing and and it
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: was just funny. I remember just laughing my ass off
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: that night. All right, well, we got to go because
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: our show's going so incredibly long. But Christina, thank you,
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: and in all sincerity, thank you so much for what
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: you do and for being on the front lines for us.
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: Can I just see y'all to give a quick shout
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: out to my best friends that are super jealous right.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: Now, of course, Preston and Nikki y'o.
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: Preston, Nikki, it's down a faison and.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: I'm Zach Roff.
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: And Zach sorry, what's happening, y'all?
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: What's happening y'all? What's happening? By present and Nikki and bye, Christina,
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: Thank you, Christina.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Now listen, it's not beneath us. It scrubs to do
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: a fart joke every now and then.
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: And uh, and this your family loves to fart. Dorians
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: love to fart, dude, It's true.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, we were, we were, we were.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: We were lucky enough to have the late John Ritter
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: do a fart joke on on the show before he
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: passed away. And now we have the great Tom Cavanaugh
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: honoring us with a fart joke. We we sprinkle him around.
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: That sprinkle him around, good analogy. Your reaction is tremendous.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: It's like it's everywhere. It's a man who can't escape,
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: it's all.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: It is so horrible though, when when someone is flatulent
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: in a car and you don't have control of the window,
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: isn't it just a horrible, horrible moment of life.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: I think an airplane is worse, But yes, airplane, everybody's
- 1:24:17Speaker 4: staring straight ahead, and there's that.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: Moment on a plane where you're like, you don't want
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: anyone to think it's you have to react, you have to.
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: Go, oh geez.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: I always put my t shirt over my nose so
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: people know, like, oh, he's reacting. It's clearly not him, right.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: It's just like when you go into the bathroom after
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: somebody took a ship and on the airplane and then
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: you've got to come out and face all the people.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: I'm sure we've talked about it. We have.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: We talked about that horrible thing. And especially when you're
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: in the public eye, you don't want someone to be like, dude,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: I was on a plane and Tom Kavanaugh crossing the
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: bathroom and meanwhile you're thinking, like, no, mother effort. That
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: was the guy before me.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: I don't know if I'd be that upset, but okay, yeah.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: I have an anxiety out when I go into a
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: bathroom and it's been just rocked and then I come
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: out and I'm like, I didn't do that. That was
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: someone before me. I should.
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: I had an anxiety about public restrooms period.
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: Dude, you put toilet paper down on the seat.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Listen, man, we could go to the movies the whole family.
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: Back when going to the movies was a thing. We'd
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: be at the movie theater if I and the movie
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: could be five minutes away from starting. If I feel
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: even the slightest bit of a bubble in my guts,
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: we're going home. Oh really, I'm not shitting at a
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: movie theater.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Your poor kids, what do they do?
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: They can cry on the way home.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: You've that sharing kids home because you had to poop.
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: Listen. I remember I remember one time going to a
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: club and getting to the club and being at the
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: club and uh, you know, about to dance and it
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: was lit that night, and feeling a bubble in my
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: guts and being like, you know what, I'm going home.
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: At restaurants, so you never pull, you never pull in public.
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: I try my hardest not to poo in public. I
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: have a phobia of it. It's uh, I don't know, man.
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: Do you keep your outings to a concentric circle where
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: you can make the getaway if you have to.
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: No, There's been times where I was like, yo, I
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: gotta do something. We gotta do something. Do you have friends?
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: It's just something about a public A public restroom is I.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Used to have that. For some reason, I can't do it.
- 1:26:22Speaker 2: When I was a kid, I had it.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: I got over it. But one thing I can't do
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: is if it were in the men's room and there's
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: and there's a line of stalls, I cannot pooh if
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: someone else is in the stall. I have to wait
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: until the stalls are empty. I can't hear it next me.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I just can't want next hear that. But also I
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: can't sit next to the person and they're like farting
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: and you hear them like.
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: I can't.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: It's too uncomfortable for me.
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: You got a handed to them for their effort.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: You know, you really have to go, you know, I
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: don't want to be that guy. Man, I've been. I've
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: been in the bathroom where another man did that. And
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: I was a kid. I was very young and it
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: was me and we were doing a commercial. It was
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: a basketball commercial. What yeah, it was a basketball commercial.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Already jealous, I know we should talk about basketball. You
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: have to come back on because we need to talk
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: about our NBA Entertainment League days and all that stuff.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Tom, Tom, well you already since we since you're.
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: Joe.
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: You heard this, Dan, you heard this right. So I
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: was invited. So that's what that's what those are going to.
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: Be now one and pound now you'll be back, now,
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: be back. But we were filming a basketball commercial and
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: I was very young and one, but I wasn't young
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: enough where my parents had to be there. But there
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: was one kid who was very young and his dad
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: had to be there and his dad would play basket.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: We were playing like we were all doing this, you know,
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: uh uh the commercial. So we were all playing like
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: full courts on other basketball courts. And we would play
- 1:28:01Speaker 2: with his dad too. And I remember going to the bathroom,
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: me and a bunch of other dudes. We were going
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: to take a leak and the dad was in the
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: bathroom and was having a real hard time pooping, like
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: the type of ship like the like the type of
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: stuff was like, oh god, damn ship.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: Why why why it's always when someone yells.
- 1:28:25Speaker 4: Why.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: The corn? That's the corn. That's the corn.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: Okay, you don't see the corn people are might be
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: eating when they listen to this.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Okay, we'll cut that out. We'll cut out the corn. No,
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: I want to leave it. I like, okay, all right. Anyway,
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: My point is, I remember when he came out of
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: the bathroom, the shame on his poor son's face because
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: we were like, yo, you're dad, and they're blowing it up.
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: And I think that's where my phobia comes from. I
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: don't want to be that guy.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: From when I was a kid, my mom took me
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: into the stall with her. You know, I was of
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: an age where she was obviously not leaving me alone
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: and a woman was really farting a lot as she
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: was going pooh, And then we came out to the
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: sinks and I apparently turned to the woman and pointed, Mom,
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: that's the lady who was farting. My mom says, like,
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: to this day, that's the most embarrassing moment of her life.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: Goodness, all right?
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: The gorilla by the way, Donald, I literally looked. I
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: looked down at my notes and saw I thought that
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: was a really funny reveal.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that was very You think Ken was
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: Ever in the suit? Oh, I don't know. That's a
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: great question.
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: That is a great question.
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: Let's ask Bill that one.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: Let's ask Bill, because Bill, I'm sure you want to
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: say hi to the Tom Cavanaugh and you know, I
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: did notice some of the fans were missing you and
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: you're sabotaging our show by the secret numbers? So Bill,
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: was Ken Jenkins ever in the gorilla suit? And also
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: say hi to Tom Kavanaugh?
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: Bill, Hey, guys, how you doing.
- 1:30:13Speaker 5: Question number Ken Jenkins in that gorilla suit? I seem
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: to recall is what I love about Ken, you know,
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: trying to be respectful of actors. I was like, of course, Ken,
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: if you want to be the guy in the suit,
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: you know. And I think he cut me off and said, Bill,
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: if it's not gonna you're not gonna see me. I
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: don't care if I'm ever in that grocer. So I
- 1:30:36Speaker 5: do not think Ken Jenkins was ever in that thing,
- 1:30:39Speaker 5: pretty sure.
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: Uh, and uh I respect him more for it.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: Also got to say, man, uh, not only one of
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: my favorite guest stars on the show, but an all
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: time good buddy Tom Kavanaugh. Hello, sir, oh hi Tommy.
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: How you doing?
- 1:30:53Speaker 4: Man?
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: I don't mean to steal this podcast, but it has
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: been way too long since we've seen each other. Has
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: been a has got to be at least like for
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: like five or six or.
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: Seven or eight months?
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: Eight?
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: No, thank you, jas. Guy is turn.
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: Season two? Damn get a new.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: You need a new trick. Trying to hijack our show,
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: you know. Speaking of tricks, the janitor never does his trick.
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: I was I was asking, I was about to ask
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: that it's a writing it's a writing flow of Bill. Sorry,
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: what was that about?
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: Since you just tried to hijack our show by saying
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: the numbers, I will tell you even though now you
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: can't reply that, Uh, you're fucking up or Tim Oberd,
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Tim Over, Tim Hover fucked up, somebody who fucked up?
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Why do you lay in that the janitor is going
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: to do a trick and he never does. I think
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: it's a mislead for him being in the gorilla suit.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: But but he's he's like twice Ken's height, so that
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: doesn't really work. I'm just saying, do you want to
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: talk about how great it was to have Tom Cavanaugh
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: on the podcast?
