• 1:09
Speaker 2: Yes, it came from a movie, and I'd rather not.
• 1:12
Speaker 2: It's an old Western movie.
• 1:14
Speaker 4: Let's talk about the car.
• 1:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, Talk about no, I know Well.
• 1:18
Speaker 4: No, she didn't want to talk about that.
• 1:20
Speaker 1: So no what's wrong with that?
• 1:21
Speaker 1: I mean, she doesn't want to talk about it, but I want to talk about it, and this is our show.
• 1:27
Speaker 2: My mother loved unique names and she saw a movie a long time ago.
• 1:33
Speaker 2: It's called Westward the Women and in it was Dan On.
• 1:38
Speaker 2: Didn't think much of it until I saw the movie and I came up to my mother.
• 1:43
Speaker 2: I said Mama, you named me after a prostitute, see, I knew the movie.
• 1:47
Speaker 4: and you came up to my mother.
• 1:48
Speaker 4: I said Mama, you named me after a prostitute.
• 1:49
Speaker 2: See, I knew the movie and you had to go there, dad, and I said could you not have picked another name?
• 1:55
Speaker 2: She said it was either that or Dallas.
• 1:56
Speaker 2: I said I liked it on.
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: I do too.
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: I love it.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: I've never heard it before, yeah, and I didn't watch the movie, so I did not know.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: And I'm not going to apologize.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: I mean, obviously we can talk about it.
• 2:10
Speaker 2: I'm a teacher, so I really can't talk too much about that to my students.
• 2:14
Speaker 4: And they don't know so it's fine and you can't say it's a family name.
• 2:18
Speaker 2: No, it's not a family name.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: Do you have children?
• 2:21
  Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: I got three kiddos.
• 2:25
Speaker 1: I got two daughters and a son.
• 2:26
Speaker 2: Okay, and their names are Normal names.
• 2:28
  Speaker 4: Normal names.
• 2:29
Speaker 2: Jessica, katie and Eric yes, yes, normal names.
• 2:33
  Speaker 2: There's normal names.
• 2:35
  Speaker 1: I have a Katie also.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: Oh, do you, yeah, yeah.
• 2:38
Speaker 2: I wasn't going to strap my children with that.
• 2:40
Speaker 2: No, not like my mother did.
• 2:41
  Speaker 2: It's all right.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: No, not like my mother did.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: It's all right, but she had good intentions.
• 2:44
Speaker 2: I'm sure yes, she did.
• 2:45
Speaker 1: She obviously was affected by this woman's part in the movie let's go with impressed.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: Well, one way or the other, she was impressed.
• 2:55
Speaker 2: You have to watch it.
• 2:55
Speaker 2: It's a very funny old Western movie Is it?
• 2:57
Speaker 2: Really, it's very funny.
• 2:59
  Speaker 4: I like it.
• 2:59
Speaker 4: So the 78 Pontiac.
• 3:01
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: I like it.
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: Thank you.
• 3:05
Speaker 1: So how did you acquire this car?
• 3:07
Speaker 2: So I have been in love with Hot Rod since I was young.
• 3:12
Speaker 2: I wasn't the typical girl that had singers on their walls.
• 3:17
Speaker 2: I had the middle fold out of the Hot Rod magazines in my car, I mean in my house, and I used to Did you staple them to the bedroom wall, like my headboard, the headboard I had?
• 3:27
Speaker 2: it on my headboard.
• 3:28
Speaker 2: There you go, yeah and um.
• 3:29
Speaker 2: So I was always in love with cars, but that wasn't something that I could I could fulfill, you know.
• 3:34
Speaker 2: So I had a boy that I really liked.
• 3:36
Speaker 2: I actually went to school, graduated here in granbury and really grew up in glenrose but I graduated here in granbury and there was a boy that I really liked will not say his name and he had a 69 Camaro, fell in love with the car more than I did the story okay, love the car.
• 3:56
Speaker 2: So I grew up I wanted a hot rod.
• 3:59
Speaker 2: I really did, couldn't ever do.
• 4:01
Speaker 2: It ended up marrying my love of my life over here and he had his own vehicle and I'm like, oh gosh, I want one, I want one.
• 4:09
Speaker 2: Well, we've been looking, but the prices of 69 Camaros are ridiculous.
• 4:14
  Speaker 3: Absolutely.
• 4:15
  Speaker 2: On teacher's salary.
• 4:15
Speaker 2: You can't afford one.
• 4:16
Speaker 2: So we were looking around and one of our car club members, his brother, was selling this Trans Am.
• 4:24
Speaker 2: This Trans Am had been put up I forget how long it was put up For about five years, you said and he had it in storage.
• 4:32
Speaker 2: He redid this car back in the 2000s.
• 4:35
Speaker 2: He did it all himself, he didn't put any bondo on it and it was a hail damage car.
• 4:43
Speaker 2: He got all of that out and redid it for his son and his son had a tragic accident and wasn't able to drive this car.
• 4:52
Speaker 2: So it's been in his shop and he would start it up every so often and he was like you know, I really need to sell this car Cut ties with it Cut ties with it.
• 5:06
Speaker 2: So he said I just want you to be able to um go ahead and use it and make it better.
• 5:08
Speaker 2: So we went ahead and bought it and we changed up some things on it and I will never want a 69 camaro.
• 5:16
Speaker 2: I've fallen in love with this with this if you don't see a lot of them, especially in the white with the black decals on it yeah um, because it did have blue decals and we turned around and changed it out.
• 5:28
Speaker 3: Um, we did you know, it looks better like this I believe I like it well the, the black insets on the grill and the other black touches on it.
• 5:34
Speaker 1: It looks great like that plus, let's not leave out the whataburger table tent it took us a while to get that ate a lot of hamburgers At least 77 times and from what to Whataburger?
• 5:48
Speaker 1: Did you steal that?
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: from.
• 5:49
  Speaker 2: We're borrowing it.
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: Borrowing it.
• 5:52
Speaker 4: You can buy them now.
• 5:53
Speaker 4: You can buy them online.
• 5:54
Speaker 4: You can Through the Whataburger site.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, actually, if you turn it in, I think they give you two Whoppers or whatever.
• 6:00
Speaker 4: That's a different burger place, whatever, Not going to do that.
• 6:03
Speaker 4: And the honeycomb wheels.
• 6:04
  Speaker 4: I like that.
• 6:07
Speaker 2: Those are the year ones.
• 6:08
Speaker 2: Those are the newer ones of them.
• 6:08
  Speaker 2: Well, it's a beautiful car.
• 6:10
  Speaker 1: You know.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: To me the Pontiac Trans Am was always a luxury step above the Camaro, and the Z28 in particular the Z28, to me, was more of a race car, Not that this couldn't keep up with it, but this always had the luxury touches in the interior.
• 6:27
Speaker 1: So I get where you're coming from.
• 6:28
Speaker 1: I had a friend of mine that had one.
• 6:30
  Speaker 4: I did too.
• 6:31
Speaker 1: This is really nice.
• 6:32
Speaker 3: He had a blue one, 77, I believe they're a little bit heavier than the Camaro the same year Camaro, so they ride a little bit better, I think.
• 6:48
Speaker 1: Even if you get the HD deep parts on it, it still rides better.
• 6:49
Speaker 2: Well, you know, and and this is a 78, yeah, I just love the car, it's beautiful.
• 6:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, they actually drag race this car.
• 6:52
Speaker 2: This car was a drag race car, and so it it.
• 6:54
  Speaker 2: It.
• 6:54
Speaker 2: It has all the suspension underneath, that's I mean when it turns it turns and um so, but it had a four speed in it and that that couldn't keep up with our car club.
• 7:04
Speaker 2: For some reason it would go up into the 4,000.
• 7:08
Speaker 2: We couldn't keep up with our car club.
• 7:10
  Speaker 3: It wasn't a good driver.
• 7:11
Speaker 2: It wasn't a good driving it wasn't, so we went ahead and put a Tremec in it, five-speed, so now it cruises.
• 7:18
Speaker 2: It keeps up with everybody else.
• 7:20
Speaker 3: Now it's almost like it's got an overdrive in it.
• 7:23
Speaker 2: It does yes yeah, it was getting too hot when we were trying to drive it with that four speed and we'd have to pull over, and because we were afraid we were going to do something does it have the gear in the rear does it have the original engine it?
• 7:34
Speaker 2: Has a pony at 400 yeah in it.
• 7:36
Speaker 3: Nice, yeah, and that's what they were.
• 7:38
Speaker 2: Drag racing they drag race this yes, they did, they did.
• 7:43
Speaker 3: Do you drag race?
• 7:45
  Speaker 2: I don't know.
• 7:47
Speaker 3: She looks over there and he says no, no.
• 7:50
  Speaker 3: I don't drag race.
• 7:50
Speaker 3: The insurance man is listening.
• 7:51
Speaker 2: No, my other Camaro that I had, I would race it.
• 7:55
Speaker 2: I loved to race cars.
• 7:57
Speaker 2: I did when I was growing up and trashed a few of my parents.
• 8:01
Speaker 1: Where did you get this influence?
• 8:03
Speaker 1: Was it from your dad?
• 8:04
  Speaker 2: You know what?
• 8:05
Speaker 2: Was he a hot rodder?
• 8:06
Speaker 2: No, my dad wasn't, it was just I was the youngest of seven kids and I had okay.
• 8:13
Speaker 2: So I love to work, to be around people who worked on cars.
• 8:17
Speaker 2: It's just something that I loved and so, I don't know, I just I would rather have hot rod magazines, that I would.
• 8:24
  Speaker 2: You know.
• 8:25
Speaker 4: Girly magazines, girly magazines you said you're a teacher by profession.
• 8:28
Speaker 4: Why don't you get involved in teaching an auto class?
• 8:32
Speaker 2: oh, but you know why?
• 8:33
Speaker 4: because I retired oh, you could come on this year, this year come on retirement.
• 8:38
  Speaker 2: I'm I'm early childhood, so I can't do high school.
• 8:40
Speaker 2: I'm not certified to do high school.
• 8:41
  Speaker 2: I can't do high school.
• 8:43
Speaker 4: I'm not certified to do high school Certify, schmertify, but you can do it.
• 8:46
Speaker 4: But the hot rod shop, we'll certify you.
• 8:48
Speaker 1: Exactly the shop for hot rods.
• 8:51
Speaker 1: I don't think you have to be certified as a teacher.
• 8:53
Speaker 1: I think that you can go under the radar.
• 8:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm quite happy being retired so far.
• 8:59
  Speaker 1: Good for you.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, I enjoy it.
• 9:01
Speaker 1: So would you guys take it to a lot of car shows?
• 9:06

• 9:09
Speaker 2: We've went all the way out to Reno.
• 9:11
  Speaker 2: We trailered.
• 9:12
Speaker 2: Our car club went out to Reno.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: Did you trailer this car here?
• 9:16
  Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
• 9:17
Speaker 2: We trailered it out to Reno.
• 9:19
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we trailered it here.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we all trailered ours here I see.
• 9:28
Speaker 2: We will drive her too.
• 9:29
Speaker 1: We're not going to trailer her, I mean she's not a trailer, queen.
• 9:33
Speaker 4: Yeah, we had a discussion about that earlier.
• 9:35
Speaker 2: No, but coming this far, yeah, I don't want to risk her on Highway 6.
• 9:39
Speaker 2: But my husband has his.
• 9:43
  Speaker 2: He has a 48 GMC that he's doing a frame-off restoration on.
• 9:49
  Speaker 4: Beautiful.
• 9:49
Speaker 2: So this is the one that we take back and forth to the car shows currently.
• 9:52
Speaker 2: It's a beautiful car, so if this is the one that we take back and forth to the car shows currently.

• 10:05
Speaker 2: Sorry for gmc people um gmc duramax well, you know that's.

Speaker 2: Do you see how low that is?
• 10:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, I have to hook it up to get it in the trailer.
• 10:59
Speaker 2: I don't want to have to get up underneath there to clean it too.
• 11:01
  Speaker 2: Okay, Well good.

• 22:51
Speaker 1: No, a couple of minutes.
• 22:52
Speaker 5: I've owned it since 2007, but yeah, it didn't look like that when, I first got it, it was already a driver.
• 22:59

Speaker 4: We're going to do the interview now.
• 23:04
  Speaker 3: No, we're not.
• 23:05
Speaker 1: This is the tease for the car.
• 23:06
  Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
• 23:08
Speaker 5: Yeah, you found it on eBay Found it on eBay, and back when I was in high school, my brother and I had to share a 60 Chevy four-door Bel Air six-banger.
• 23:19
Speaker 5: Nothing to it, yeah, and so I already knew when it come time to buy another car.
• 23:29
Speaker 1: You wanted something different and big.
• 23:30
  Speaker 5: I wanted a station wagon.
• 23:33
Speaker 5: I already knew I wanted a station wagon and I was looking for a 60 Chevy.
• 23:38
Speaker 5: And so I'd go on eBay and they'd either be out of my budget or projects which I didn't want, which I didn't want.
• 23:47
Speaker 5: And so this particular day I just got lathed and tapped in a 1960 wagon.
• 23:55
Speaker 1: Is it a Fairlane?
• 23:56
  Speaker 5: It's a Ranch wagon.
• 23:58
  Speaker 1: Ranch wagon.
• 23:58
  Speaker 1: Yeah, like Ranch.
• 24:02
  Speaker 5: Water.
• 24:03
Speaker 5: But Ranch wagon, the one that everybody remembers is the Country Squire.
• 24:07
Speaker 5: That's the one that had all the wood on it.
• 24:09
Speaker 5: Right, this is the cheaper model in the wagon lineup, you know.
• 24:12
Speaker 5: But I liked it in that it gave me blank signs to do what I wanted to with it, you know, just like a big blank.
• 24:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, with the scallops on it.
• 24:21
  Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 24:21
  Speaker 5: Yeah, so anyway.
• 24:24
Speaker 5: But when I went on eBay and did the 1960 wagon search and I was going through the Ramblers and Dodgies and whatnot and I was looking for a Chevy and this one popped up and I thought that's got some good lines to it you know, and it's massive.
• 24:41
Speaker 1: Does it fit in the?
• 24:42
  Speaker 5: garage.
• 24:42
Speaker 5: Well, yes, it will.
• 24:44
Speaker 5: Yes, it will, and barely I mean with the garage door down.
• 24:52
Speaker 5: I've got about, you know, foot, foot and a half in front and six inches in the rear.
• 25:00
  Speaker 1: Got you.
• 25:01
  Speaker 5: All right.
• 25:03

• 25:14
  Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
• 25:15
Speaker 1: yeah, I was looking for a Chevy, but this Ford popped up, and so obviously you weren't married to the Ford Chevy brand.
