- 0:35[SPEAKER_04]: Concepts, you own the Browns.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_04]: First round, wide receiver.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_04]: Throwing out the first pitch at the Guardian's game.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_04]: Cleveland ends up beating the angel seven to two, and then he bounces right.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_04]: across the, well, I guess, right across the sidewalk and does the sword pole at the Cleveland Cavaliers play off gaming.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_04]: It's a Detroit Pistons and the Cavs come out with the victory 112 of the 103 and tie up the series two two on the way back to Detroit.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_04]: But the big thing last night, man, Donovan Mitchell before we dive into Brown's talk here today.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_04]: Holy crap, four points in the first half.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_04]: Look like it was just
- 1:14[SPEAKER_04]: headed toward disaster for the calves last night and then out of half time.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_04]: record, setting performance, Donovan Mitchell, 39 points in the second half.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_04]: Ties, the all-time NBA playoff record for most points scored in a single half of a playoff game, and he ties Moses name, Eric Sleepy Floyd from the 1987 Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semis, I think, against the LA Lakers.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_04]: I forget I did a quick research here this morning, but either way.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_04]: Donovan Mitchell dropping 39 just hosting the Detroit pistons.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, man, if you guys can come out here and just manhandle these, go to Detroit and do it.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_04]: Go up there and get one and then come back here and wrap this thing up.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_04]: So let me know what you guys think in the comments about the Cavaliers.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_04]: do they still have a shot in this series or once they get back to Detroit is it just all right back to getting pushed around and losing these games but it's it's awesome to see them tie it up too too very exciting time right now with Cleveland honestly I know it's frustrating with the calves and how they they get to the playoffs it seems like every year and then just kind of fall apart but you know but without being able to go anywhere reach the distance all that kind of stuff but
- 2:31[SPEAKER_04]: it's still great that we're there.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_04]: You know, especially if we do a Browns podcast, you know, we don't get to talk about the playoffs very often.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_04]: Um, so it's nice to see Cleveland sports being there and at least having a shot at the dance.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_04]: So thank you guys for tuning in today.

- 4:29[SPEAKER_04]: So just make sure you're in early, get your spot locked up.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_04]: Don't worry about it.

- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: It's a ton of fun.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_04]: That's join the dogs dot com.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_04]: Alright, I think the first thing we should talk about before we look at rookie mini camp as a whole and again it's there's there's not too many specifics I want to get into with rookie mini camp just the overall vibe and some news and notes out of that but the big thing for me and I did the UDFA.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_04]: Breakdown last week and one of the guys I talked about, remember the, as I was doing that episode, recording it for you guys, the Browns released their list of their officially signed 12 UDFAs and I was in the middle going through the guys that we had presumed were signed ahead been announced previously.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_04]: Well, Michael Coats Jr., the corner back out of West Virginia was one of the guys I had already talked about on that episode, but his name was not on the list of players the Browns had officially signed.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_04]: So that was worrisome for me because Michael Coats Jr. was outside of Logan Fano and Tyreeksap and Aaron Anderson.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_04]: Michael Coats was the guy I was most excited about.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_04]: And then it came out over the weekend the Browns have officially signed.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_04]: Michael Coat's junior to a three year UDFA deal.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_04]: So he is on the roster now.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_04]: He is he's under contract, which is great.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_04]: Michael Coat's junior.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_04]: The stuff, the information about him, I talked about it last week on the UDFA, UDFA show.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_04]: So if you guys missed that, go back, check it out.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_04]: But just to reiterate, the Browns do not have a solution on the roster for the slot
- 6:14[SPEAKER_04]: You know, your outside perimeter boundary corners, Denzo Ward Tyson Campbell were good.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like, those are two really, really good, obviously, Denzo Ward is elite.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_04]: You've got a great starting duo on the outside.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_04]: What we've been harping on on the show, this entire offseason, is you don't have a nickel corner.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_04]: You can move in the slot and play that role.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_04]: You don't have depth.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_04]: You don't have depth at the position.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_04]: You got Miles Harden.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_04]: Yippee.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_04]: So the Browns have added quite a few free agents at the cornerback position, primarily special teams, guys.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_04]: We signed a few UDFA's at the cornerback position, but Michael Coats.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_04]: is the guy who scouts project if he's going to be successful at the NFL level, it will be after he moves pretty much exclusively to the inside of the defensive backfield to play the slot nickel back spot.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_04]: Bingo, baby, that's what the Browns need.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_04]: And we got him.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: And the reason why is it's not just the fact that that's where he can play, it's his whole scouting profile.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_04]: Now, why did he fall on the draft and go undrafted?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_04]: He's only five foot nine, one 85.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_04]: So he's an undersized corner back, which fits the mode of why he's going to play primarily in the slot.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_04]: He, um, he's older.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_04]: He's 24 years old.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_04]: He's going to be 25 this summer.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_04]: So his rookie season, he will be 25 years old.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_04]: He played three years at, uh, community college.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_04]: So he was a Juico transfer.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_04]: I believe then he went to Nevada for two years, finished up at West Virginia.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_04]: Unless I'm mixing up my UDFA profiles in my head, but I'm pretty sure that's him.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_04]: Michael Coats.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_04]: And the guy is,
- 7:56[SPEAKER_04]: tough.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's one of the the biggest things to get excited about.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_04]: He's super competitive, scrappy.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_04]: He at WVU's pro day had a 439 40 yard dash jump like a 36 inch vertical.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_04]: His 3 cone.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_04]: I think was a 6.83 off top of my head.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_04]: Short area quickness and excellent speed.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_04]: That is what NFL teams are looking for at this slot in a position.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm excited about Michael Coates.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_04]: He fits the mode of what you want, what teams want at that position.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_04]: And the Browns need to play her at that position.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_04]: So that's why he is a name to watch.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_04]: I believe he's rocking 39 jersey right now at Camp.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_04]: So if you see videos or pictures or anything like that, I'm pretty sure it's number 39.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_04]: It was 38.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_04]: I can't remember.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_04]: But just...
- 8:45[SPEAKER_04]: It'll be Michael Coats, Jr. Cornerback out of West Virginia.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'm very happy to see that the Browns got him locked up.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_04]: He's from what I've read, scouting reports and stuff.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_04]: They're like, this this kid can play man coverage.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_04]: It's kid can play press.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_04]: He can play zone.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_04]: Like he's, I think the Browns got a good UDFA here.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_04]: And the reason why it's it's more talking about again, 30% of the NFL's comprised of UDFA's.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_04]: undrafted free agents who know team picked in the draft, they signed after word, and you stick on a roster primarily through special teams and then you work your way into either a depth role, sometimes a starting position, whether it's offense or defense, whatever side of the ball you're you're playing on.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_04]: and we've seen it with the Browns.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have to use any other team as an example for this.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_04]: The Anthony Bell a few years ago, made the roster at the safety position, worked as way through special teams, played some meaningful snaps, started a couple games I believe at the safety position when we had some injuries to help it, and was at one foreign health at the time, or was it John John?
- 9:52[SPEAKER_04]: I think it was one, I don't remember either way, they both suck.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_04]: And then you got Ronnie Hickman, Muhammad Diabody, Winston Reed, on the offensive side, obviously the last year, Gage Larva, Dan, you know, these players that get signed as UDFA's, they make it on to the roster through camp, and then you're like, okay, they're going to contribute on special teams, they start playing at their, you know, given spot on their side of the ball.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_04]: I think Michael Codes probably has the best avenue for that to be the case this year.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_04]: Now, not to say he's the only guy.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_04]: as a UDFA who could do that.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_04]: But if I was betting on one guy to do it, it would be Michael Coats Jr.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_04]: The other guy that during that episode last week, the caught me off guard when that list came out from the Browns, Aaron Anderson, the Y-RC performance LSU was not on the list of players.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_04]: The Browns had officially signed.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_04]: It's like crap.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_04]: That was the one Y-RC for that we signed that I was excited about after the draft.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_04]: he was at rookie minicamp all weekend as a tryout player so no word yet on an official signing for Aaron Anderson but there were clips out of minicamp that he was making some plays making some catches and that's kind of what I was reading.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_04]: I think Justin Cameron justice was talking about that on ex how like Aaron Anderson's just kind of all over the field making plays out here and the other guy Cole Wilson.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_04]: The Widersever UDFA we signed out a bailer had the catch of the weekend a dot and again guys before I even go any further.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_04]: I know there's people out there this might be your first time watching the show or maybe you're a newer viewer listener, whatever.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_04]: If you're on YouTube or wherever you're watching this and you're saying, why isn't this guy showing clips?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_04]: You know, because I'm about to tell you that Cole Wilson had to catch the week in a diving grab down the field from, I think it was tail and green and it was just a beautiful cat.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_04]: I can't play clips.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what the rules are.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_04]: I have looked.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_04]: I have researched.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_04]: I have tried different things.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_04]: If I play a video clip, whether it's a sideline reporter taking a, and a iPhone video at Camp, or it's an NFL clip from a game on in September, I can't do it.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_04]: I will get demonetized.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what the deal is.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how other people are able to get away with it.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_04]: May I don't know.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_04]: But I get dinged with copyright and demonetization crap every single time.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_04]: So no clips for you guys.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, YouTube is a bunch of, you know, and I can't say what I think about YouTube.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_04]: But that's where we are.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_04]: That's where you're watching.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_04]: That's where we're posting.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_04]: So we'll play by the rules and just go from there.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, Cole Wilson.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, big catch down the field.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_04]: look like he had a great weekend, just a kind of transition then even more talk about just rookie mini camp in general.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_04]: From my takeaways, which was obviously also social media, reading, watching everything from the people that were actually invited to the practices, look like the wider severs that we drafted are the real deal.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_04]: Casey concepts and there of course there's the one video clip out there where he dropped a pass.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_04]: And that's the one that everybody
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: You know, he's not the only player that dropped a pass over the weekend.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_04]: He's not the only player who's going to drop a pass all summer.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_04]: It's going to happen.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_04]: We have to be patient with these guys.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_04]: If his drops issue persists and becomes a really big problem during the season, okay, then we can have a discussion about, okay, what are we doing here?
- 13:15[SPEAKER_04]: This needs to get cleaned up.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_04]: He knows it needs to get cleaned up.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to freak out about one video of a drop pass that,
- 13:22[SPEAKER_04]: You know, maybe Denzel, but I don't know.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe he dropped a pass at practice.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_04]: We just didn't get the footage of that one.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_04]: I have no idea.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_04]: I have no idea.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_04]: But either way, conception, making plays, I know Lance Ryzlin was there and posting about all these guys said, the Browns haven't had a receiver like this, maybe ever, like with how a electric he is with the ball on his hand.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_04]: get him the ball in space and he and this is this is what how many months now after having the knee scope done for Casey and they're still ramping him up slowly and not really pushing him at the full limit right now because of that just trying to make sure he's completely good.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_04]: He said he's good but obviously the Browns are still being cautious with it but from the time that he was on the field by our reports looked very explosive and very electric.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_04]: Denzel Boston
- 14:10[SPEAKER_04]: Big dude, man, big dude, he's not like the big, I don't wanna say this.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_04]: You got your AJ Brown, who's probably like 220, 225 pounds of whatever he has, just big rocked up, solid, you know, mass-ful dude.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_04]: Denzel Boston's tall, six, four.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_04]: He's a little bit more lean at the, to what is it, two, 12, maybe two, 15, whatever he's listed that from the combine,
- 14:38[SPEAKER_04]: just a big physical receiver, the type of volleyball player that we really haven't had.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_04]: And we've got two receivers that we haven't had in the long time in Boston and KC.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_04]: And they complement each other so well, I think is just, that's what I'm, I'm so hyper excited about is the way they complement each other.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_04]: You've got the short area quickness, the yacability of KC, the zone beating,
- 15:03[SPEAKER_04]: of, you know, ability.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_04]: He can do whatever he wants to in the middle of the field.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_04]: And then he can take it the distance and then you got the other guy who's just going to go freaking dominate the outside on the boundary and perimeter.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_04]: It's just what a great.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_04]: What a great circumstance for the Brown.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_04]: Now obviously this is all on paper.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_04]: It's all on paper.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_04]: It all has a translate.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_04]: Two games in September and October, you know, and so on.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_04]: But on paper and in the brief practices we've had now with these guys, the Browns read.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_04]: We talk about things don't always go our way.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_04]: The draft this year really went our way.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of the draft really going our way, I mean, come on.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_04]: A manual, a manual worn looks like the absolute real deal.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_04]: He's flying around the practice field.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody, they're reporting like this, with this, a safety with this size, his length, his ball skills, his instincts, his coverage ability.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_04]: I mean,
- 16:06[SPEAKER_04]: This is going to be an impact player starter from day one.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so excited for EMW.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_04]: This is going to be a ton of fun.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_04]: And by all accounts, just a very well-liked young man, a good-natured kid, always has a smile on his face.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_04]: Just a good sense of humor, big time dedicated focus to football.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_04]: wants to be great.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_04]: And that's what I think is awesome about all these guys we took, especially the first four in rounds one and two, they just want to be great.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_04]: They have that desire that internal motivation.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_04]: Like I'm not here to just say, okay, I made it to the NFL cool.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, I got drafted cool.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, I got an NFL paycheck cool.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_04]: And that's fine.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_04]: Some people that is the that is the top for them.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it just, that's okay.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there, but we got guys who, that's, that's nothing.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_04]: We want to be great in the NFL.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_04]: This episode is sponsored by Kaoshi.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_04]: All right, Browns van, you know, we've all messed around with the sports books before, right?
- 17:11[SPEAKER_04]: And let's be honest, you're always kind of playing into the house.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_04]: But with Kaoshi, it's different.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_04]: You're not betting against some sports book.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_04]: You're trading against other real world people.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_04]: There's no house trying to beat you Kaoshi just runs the marketplace.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: So if you think the public is wrong, like everybody's overreacting to these smoke screens in the draft or sleeping on a prospect, you can literally take the other side of the market.

- 17:35[SPEAKER_04]: You can trade on other real-world stuff, interest rates, inflation, even wild weather outcomes.

- 18:55[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously watching the video clips and reading the reports from camp.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, the athleticism stands out.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_04]: This kid can move.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_04]: He's agile, he's quick, he's got great footwork, watching the videos of him.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just, and again, Justin from Jersey, this is not a knock on the kid.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_04]: I have really, I'm so glad we got Spencer Fano, I'm thrilled.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_04]: He's got a guard's body.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_04]: If you just, just, that, and that's just me.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_04]: Let me know in the comments what you guys think.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_04]: From watching the video clips, from watching him in his offensive line stance and everything I'm like, he just, he looks like a guard.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't look like your prototypical offensive tackle.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_04]: in the NFL.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_04]: But you know, that doesn't mean anything.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just just an observational my part.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_04]: But I'm excited for him.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_04]: I think that he's got a real shot.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, the Browns think he can play left tackle.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_04]: He's played left tackle in college.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's got a real shot to play there and stick there for the Browns and be there left tackle moving forward.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_04]: But again,
- 19:59[SPEAKER_04]: If it doesn't happen, I mean, hey, listen, guys.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_04]: Let's just have a real, the Patriots thought that Will Campbell was going, that's the name, right?
- 20:09[SPEAKER_04]: Will Campbell, man, why am I blanking here?
- 20:10[SPEAKER_04]: Whatever, that he was definitely going to be their left tackle of the future.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_04]: When they drafted him, what was it?
- 20:16[SPEAKER_04]: Four over all last year, in the draft?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_04]: A year later, things change.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_04]: And you let it play out on the field.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, I didn't go the way we thought it was gonna go.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just, do I have belief in Spencer Fano at the Left tackle spot?
- 20:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, what I'd be shocked if a year from now we're saying, okay, we're moving him to left guard and he's going to rock there and we're going to put somebody up, yeah, I wouldn't shock me either.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_04]: So let's just see how it goes.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_04]: But just an observation from camp, tailing green.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about him a little bit because he was, obviously, the only quarterback there.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_04]: There was one other guy.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_04]: It was a try out player.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_04]: Don't even remember his name.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_04]: number 11 doesn't matter.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not trying to be mean to the kid just it just doesn't matter.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_04]: But tail and green, I saw people obviously you're going to have the browns fans online that are like, hey, it's QB1, oh man, he looks great, rocket arm, he's got the mobility and everything.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_04]: I saw people saying, wow, like, what was it?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_04]: Mary Kayer, you know, it's Cleveland, media people, like tail and green really stood out at Browns in many camp.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, well, no kidding, he stood out.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_04]: He was the only quarterback there.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_04]: it was him and Mister you know little small school trial dude like of course Taylor and Green stood out he's six foot six to 40 of course like whatever they need their headlines they need their clicks Taylor and Green's very much a developmental guy saw a lot of people that I do respect their opinion were like listen
- 21:39[SPEAKER_04]: He's way more comfortable throwing on the run, not as comfortable in the pocket.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_04]: He's not going to be very comfortable taking snaps under center to start.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_04]: He is a developmental quarterback, okay?
- 21:50[SPEAKER_04]: That's just, it is what it is.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_04]: Todd Monkins said, yep, it's great to see Tailing Green out here.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_04]: He was happy with the way that he's improved and going through his progressions through those three days and all that kind of stuff.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_04]: But he did say, he's got to take advantage of these reps now because once we get everybody in here for OTAs and Camp,
- 22:05[SPEAKER_04]: He's probably not going to get any reps, like we need to get ready for the season, which I appreciate that.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_04]: I appreciate a lot of stuff about Todd Monk and that I didn't anticipate when they first signed.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously you guys know I wasn't thrilled with the higher when it first happened, but I'm getting on board.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's got to play out on the field like everything else during the season, but right now,
- 22:29[SPEAKER_04]: The way Todd Munkin is approaching the team building, practicing preparation, I like it.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_04]: I like it a lot because we had a four-way QB battle last year, which was a complete
- 22:50[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how many first team reps.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, yes, I know, like, oh, we'll talk about reps, right, guys, reps matter.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, if they didn't matter, then we wouldn't do training camp.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_04]: We wouldn't do preseason.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_04]: If that stuff didn't matter if there was no benefit in helping guys get ready for the season, then they they wouldn't do these things.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_04]: It really matters.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_04]: And honestly, they should be doing more.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_04]: We talked to some former Browns who played back in the 80s.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_04]: And they said training camp back then was brutal, grueling.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it was so intense.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just kind of like cakewalk nowadays.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_04]: But it is what it is.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_04]: These guys need prepped.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_04]: They need ready the four-way quarterback.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_04]: How many first team reps did we waste on Kenny Pickett who ended up not even being here?
- 23:36[SPEAKER_04]: We traded him.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_04]: It made no sense.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_04]: It was so stupid.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_04]: It was so flawed looking back on it.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, at the time, we questioned like, so it's really the best way to go about this, but whatever.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_04]: Todd Munkin's not going to do that.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_04]: He wants the name of starting quarterback probably by the end of this voluntary minicamp here in Wednesday, the 12th, a month, four or five week, four and a half weeks from now.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_04]: We might have a starting quarterback named.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_04]: If not, it's going to be very early on in training camp.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_04]: They're not messing around.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_04]: He's not screwing around, trying to get every single person ready to start when that's not realistic.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_04]: So I appreciate the realness, the candor, and just the overall football focus that Todd Munkin is seeming to bring to the team right now.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm excited about that.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_04]: a couple other things.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_04]: I know Austin Barber, the Browns third round pick.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: They remember they traded back up into the end of the third round.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_04]: We're not the end, but like later in the third round to get Austin Barber, the right tackle out of.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_04]: Florida.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_04]: And I saw some things for about him at camp, and they said, big, big kid athletic.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_04]: Very, I mean, you talk about we got Austin Barber, we got Spencer Fauna, we got two very large offensive linemen.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_04]: These guys have great size, great athleticism.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_04]: and they said that Barber was playing and taking all his reps at the right tackle spot.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_04]: So the Browns do intend to keep these guys at their tackle positions coming out of college.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_04]: Barber also a guy that if they bounce him inside to play guard, I wouldn't be surprised either.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_04]: He can't.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_04]: He can play guard.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_04]: His coach had Florida talked about that.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_04]: You can play in my guard.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_04]: He is obviously coming out as a tackle.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_04]: That's what he played in college.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_04]: But
- 25:22[SPEAKER_04]: I think he does have some guard experience.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_04]: If I'm not mistaken, maybe I am.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_04]: But either way, I think there's good chance there for him.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_04]: And then Parker Brailsford, the center out of Alabama, and it wasn't just Mary K talking about it.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of Browns media saying, listen, this guy, there's a shot here.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I'm not going to say here and say, yes, Parker Brailsford is going to win the starting center spot week one.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_04]: Would I be shocked if he did?
- 25:50[SPEAKER_04]: Probably not.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_04]: What's the competition?
- 25:54[SPEAKER_04]: Luke Whippler?
- 25:54[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_04]: He's also a very undersized center who's in the last year of his rookie deal, and he's been injured every year.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_04]: So you get this again, extremely athletic offensive lineman, Parker Brailsford.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_04]: He is undersized, but they're betting on the athleticism and his competitive nature.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_04]: to prevail.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_04]: And that's not a bad bet to make with players, especially when you're taking them in the fifth round.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_04]: And it's situation where if he shows that he can handle it throughout training camp and everything this summer, well you got Elton Jenkins right now, who I would believe is slotted in, penciled in as you're starting day one center.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_04]: He can play anywhere on the line.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_04]: He can play left hack or if he needs to.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_04]: He's done it before.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_04]: He can play the guard spots if he needs to.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_04]: He's done it before.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_04]: So you could have a situation where Parker Brails for just, you know, lights it up and blows the rocks off everybody else at the position and says, now I'm taking over this spot.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_04]: Well, then you got a Zion Johnson at left guard.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_04]: You can move out in Jenkins over your right guard and just have Tevin Jenkins be a backup guy.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_04]: I think that there's so much versatility and flexibility with this new offensive lineup, offensive line, lineup, and depth chart that
- 27:14[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just, I'm excited to see how it plays out.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_04]: As a Browns fan, the team has done this entire offseason has been encouraging, very encouraging.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_04]: I was, I was encouraged with the free agent signings, still very skeptical of the overall roster build before the draft coming out of the draft.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_04]: It was like, okay.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_04]: you have made me a believer again, Cleveland, Andrew Barry, you got me back on board.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_04]: Justin Jefferson, the linebacker out of Alabama.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_04]: He was looking really good at mini-camp as well.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_04]: His speed, his sideline, the sideline ability, everything we were excited about when they drafted him, showed up in mini-camp, so that was great to see.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_04]: And he was joking.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_04]: They asked him, of course, you got to ask Justin Jefferson about, well, what's it like sharing a name with, you know, Justin Jefferson?
- 28:04[SPEAKER_04]: The all-proverseaver from the Vikings, and he just kind of laughed about it and said, you know, it's been my name, my whole life.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_04]: I never really thought anything of it.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_04]: He said, honestly,
- 28:13[SPEAKER_04]: that that name, Justin Jefferson didn't become popular until he was in high school because that's obviously when, uh, Jedis for the Vikings really took off and became, you know, who he is and he said really the biggest, um, hurdle for anybody is for his mom, his family members when they try to search for him on Google or whatever.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_04]: Well, if you search Justin Jefferson, what comes up?
- 28:37[SPEAKER_04]: A duh.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_04]: That's why anytime I look him up, I have to put Justin Jefferson, Jefferson linebacker, Justin Jefferson, Alabama, you know, or Justin Jefferson Browns now, just to make sure I get the right guy.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_04]: But he seems like he's got a good sense of humor.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm trying to think of there's any other of the rookies primarily that I wanted to point out.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_04]: I think the tight ends, I saw a couple,
- 28:59[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of speculation that Carson Ryan, the Titan, we took it to 48 in the seventh round, could end up locking down like a full back H back type role for the Browns, we did sign a full back Michael Burton.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_04]: I believe it was, I think you played for the Bronco last year.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_04]: So we have a full back and then we got this Titan who, I mean, if he proves that he can block and stuff like that out of the back field for the run game,
- 29:29[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, I think he's got a shot to kind of be that full back slash using that tight end as well.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_04]: Joe Royer, the tight end out of Cincinnati had some catches that I saw some clips and things during many camp.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_04]: I like Joe Royer.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_04]: I again, fifth round pick.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_04]: It's hard to say a lot of these guys are going to be, I'm not that here.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_04]: Some Bryant was going to do a lot for the Browns.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_04]: He was the best tight end in college football that year.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_04]: We drafted him.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_04]: Turn out to be a nothing burger.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_04]: Joe Royer, though, looks the part.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_04]: He is that big tall lean tight end.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_04]: He's got the big catch radius, the strong hands.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know guys, like
- 30:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying to, I don't want to obviously get my hopes too far up for any of these, because anything can happen of course, but I like him.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_04]: I like Roy, right?
- 30:21[SPEAKER_04]: I saw some clips where he was plucking that ball out of the air, looked really fluid, running his routes.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_04]: I think that he could be a sneaky, good receiving option.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_04]: For now, I don't think it's going to be anything crazy this year.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_04]: But I mean, a good complimentary passing weapon to go along with everybody else that we put in here
- 30:41[SPEAKER_04]: Keep going when we have Harold Fan and left a, you know, coming back from last year.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_04]: We've still got Jerry Judy, who isn't the best, obviously, but I think that he'll be much better served and he can serve the team better as a non-primeary option.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_04]: Let's just put it that way.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_04]: There's people saying, he'll still be the wider receiver one.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_04]: Nah, he'll be the wider receiver two.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_04]: I really don't care.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_04]: Just as long as he's not the go-to guy in the pecking order at the receiver position, we just can't have that.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_04]: But Joe Royer, I am excited about that.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_04]: And then another thing kind of going back to tailing green, you know, there were some passes on the thing.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, he has to be in Cleveland, these outlets will, oh, a dot from green to Boston, fire mode, fire mode, fire mode, fire mode.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_04]: Like the clip, through a behind him.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_04]: Like it was just a practice rep.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_04]: They were just running rouse.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_04]: And he's throwing the ball like they's not leading the receivers already thrown it behind the guys and stuff.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_04]: Well, this kid's got some serious accuracy issues that need worked on.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, like that just is what it is.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_04]: So let's let's not get all crazy here saying that every pass he throws to a receiver is a dot because it's not, and I know I don't want to be like the guy who hates tail and green.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_04]: I don't hate tail and green.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just trying to, I'm trying to be the one to bring perspective back to everybody who's getting excited because we all get excited about new quarterback.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_04]: So obviously when you don't have a locked-in starter,
- 32:10[SPEAKER_04]: You see quarterback, new guy, especially with these athletic traits, and it's easy to get excited.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_04]: It's easy to elaborate on what you see, you know, and I'm talking about like, yes, being clear.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, a dot, a dot.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_04]: Really a dot, guys.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_04]: Just take it easy, but whatever.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_04]: Nope, I think the Browns had a really good draft.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_04]: Is there anybody that I'm forgetting that we took?
- 32:31[SPEAKER_04]: I think that was everybody.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_04]: Plus some of the UDFA's talked about Aaron Anderson, talked about Michael Codes.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that's pretty much it.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: If there's anything else from rookie minicamp that you guys saw or read or had questions about, go ahead and put it in the comments.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_04]: I'll try to get back with you.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe I can bring something up that I didn't hit on.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_04]: I'll bring it up in the next episode, all that kind of stuff.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I guess one last thing before I move into some voice mails, David and Joe Kusaint, with the loss, the loss.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_04]: You can tell I haven't done a podcast in a few days.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_04]: The loss andgelist chargers.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_04]: So he'd signed a one year deal worth up to eight million dollars.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_04]: Now obviously last week it was reported that he was out no way.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_04]: He went to visit with the chargers.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_04]: No news came out about a signing or anything.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_04]: So it was like, well, I wonder if they're going to sign or if it didn't go that well, he hadn't been signed this whole time.
- 33:25[SPEAKER_04]: But Chief will be playing with the bolts this season.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_04]: So I think that's a good move for the charges honestly.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_04]: They already had around a grads in the rookie, or rookie tight end from last season who showed some promise, some flashes last year.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_04]: But now you get a more proven veteran, obviously he's got some inconsistencies over the course of his career, he's got drops issues, he's got injury concerns, all this kind of stuff.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_04]: Which is probably why the Browns didn't feel compelled
- 33:55[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I don't know exactly.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_04]: I just, obviously there was a huge focus on getting younger and all of that as well played a part into it.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_04]: I think David is what?
- 34:06[SPEAKER_04]: 3031 something like that.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_04]: I should look it up.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_04]: But you guys know, he's just, he's not the young guy anymore.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_04]: in the room but it's it'll be good for their run game they you know with all their offensive line injuries last year the blocking situation wasn't great so i think overall good move for the chargers happy for chief i i i like chief man like we all just he went from
- 34:30[SPEAKER_04]: You know, this first round pick, athletic freak type player with not a whole lot of production on the field early in his career to really support that selection, and then did the whole trade request thing, wanted out of here, didn't want to be Cleveland, had to come to Jesus moment with the coaching staff, a heart, the heart,
- 34:55[SPEAKER_04]: And he just was a changed man, like he came out and just dialed in the blocking and really focused on his craft as a tight end.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_04]: Not just being this, I think it's a good point to make too.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of these guys that come out of college is the same way when they come out of high school.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of these guys are just so athletically gifted.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: You don't really have to try that hard against your competition in high school or in college.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, I'm just so much bigger, so much stronger and faster than all these other guys.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_04]: It just works.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_04]: Once you get to the NFL, it's a whole different story because everybody's big, fast, and strong.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_04]: So, David really honed in his craft and became a really good tight end all around for the Browns blocking, receiving, doing everything that they needed in to do.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_04]: He is the 12th.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_04]: Leading or 12 all-time leading receiver in Cleveland Browns franchise history and he's the number three all-time receiving tight end for the Cleveland Browns.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_04]: So he is definitely cemented in history here, played nine seasons, almost a full decade.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_04]: You just don't see that anymore, really out of many players.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_04]: In this league, there's so much turnover, trades, guys hit free agency,
- 36:12[SPEAKER_04]: So for David to play here for almost a full decade that's, and a lot of guys careers don't even last more than like three years.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of guys don't make it through the rookie contract.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_04]: So hats off to David and Joker.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for all the memories.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_04]: The four game stretch you had in 2023 with Joe Flacco, where that was some of the funnest times memories that we're going to have of you and just that relationship with Joe Flacco was so fun.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_04]: It really was.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_04]: And then,
- 36:42[SPEAKER_04]: there's so many big david and joku moments and he had some major games and things i'll never forget against the ravens i think that was the twenty twenty three game when the shanwatson had his big second half and joku just carrying ravens defenders for like ten yards just
- 37:02[SPEAKER_04]: I remember I forget which game it was now which year, but he caught a pass down around the goal line, tried to jump into the end zone over somebody got caught in midair and then our lineman grabbed the back of him and they care basically, carried him into the end zone.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_04]: And then obviously that game against Tampa Bay in 2022 at home.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_04]: Jacobie Versetta was over time.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_04]: Was it over time or was it to go to over time?
- 37:25[SPEAKER_04]: Now I can't remember, you guys let me know in the comments because my memories failed me.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_04]: It was either to tie the game to go to overtime or it was the game winner.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_04]: I cannot remember.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_04]: But he caught that one handed grab in the end zone from Jacobi Burstet.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_04]: It was incredible.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_04]: So David and Joe, who thank you for the memories, great career as a Cleveland Brown.

- 40:04[SPEAKER_04]: So just to give you guys a little preview here later in the week, we got a little bit of a commitment from Blake.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_04]: He's having a rough time with the newborn at home right now.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_04]: So everybody just thoughts and prayers for Blake and his wife, they've got the she for four year old five year old, I forget how old his oldest daughter is four or five.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_04]: And they got the newborn at home is just a tough time right now.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_04]: He says she's just not sleeping.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_04]: She's, you know, unless she's being held
- 40:32[SPEAKER_04]: I totally get it.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_04]: When my son was born last year, it was the same situation for us.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_04]: He couldn't sleep at night, whatnot, unless we held him.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_04]: So it was, you know, nap trapped all the time.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_04]: I watched a lot of TV shows, a lot of caught up on a lot of movies, posted a lot of stuff on social media because there wasn't a whole hell a lot more I could do.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_04]: sitting on the couch, wholenessleep and baby for two, three hours at a time, just so they'll take their frick and nap.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_04]: I get it Blake, totally understand.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_04]: So we are planning to do an episode and be Blake just and later this week to talk about the schedule release this, right?
- 41:06[SPEAKER_04]: The NFL schedule release is Thursday night, 8 p.m. now we are getting some matchups, some games released early.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_04]: They're kind of doing those soft releases of other big matchups throughout the week here, but
- 41:18[SPEAKER_04]: The full schedule release comes out Thursday night.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_04]: So we will be taking you to look at that processing the information all day Friday.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_04]: And then we'll get, we're going to do an episode Friday night breaking down the Brown's 20 26 schedule.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_04]: But if you guys want a quick reminder, let me find my list here.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_04]: So the home opponents,
- 41:41[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, you've got your divisional opponents.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_04]: The Bengals, the Ravens, the Steelers, we play home.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_04]: We play away.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_04]: The other home opponents.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_04]: We've got the Colts, the Falcons, the Panthers, the Raiders, the Texans.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_04]: And on the away games, we've got the Bucks, the Giants, the Jaguars, the Jets, the Saints, and the Titan.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_04]: So we've got to play the Titans at home last year.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_04]: Now, we're going to go to Tennessee to play Cam Ward in year two and their new uniforms.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_04]: We go down to New Orleans to play against Tyler Schuck, another quarterback that we could have had last year, but we didn't take.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_04]: We passed up and now he's starting for the Saints.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_04]: We have to go to New Jersey twice to play both the Giants and the Jets.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_04]: So we play Jackson Dart, who we could have drafted last year, but decided we'd want to Dylan Gabriel instead, so that's fine.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_04]: We play the Jets, you know, Smith, can we go to, we want to New York to play the Jets last year, and we should have never lost that game.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_04]: Unfreaking believable.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_04]: Can we beat them this year?
- 42:44[SPEAKER_04]: Let's hope so.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_04]: Let's hope so.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_04]: And then the other one is the box.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_04]: And I've been talking about this on social media with people and I want, I want fun storylines.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_04]: You know, obviously I'm a Browns fan.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_04]: I love it when there's cool stuff to get excited about with this team.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_04]: I'm a Browns fan who is also a Browns content creator.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_04]: I want great storylines to talk about, and that would be an awesome storyline.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_04]: I think the week one week two matchups in any order.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_04]: I honestly don't care, but this is what I want NFL.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_04]: You want to make your schedule.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_04]: based on maximizing TV view opportunities and just doing what gets people in front of the screen for your games, give us Brown's first baker and Brown's first Kevin in weeks one and two.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_04]: That would be so fun.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_04]: That would be awesome.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_04]: I just, first of all, the home matchups.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_04]: The Falcons are it.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_04]: So if we host the Falcons week one, Kevin's to fansky coming back to Cleveland in his first game as another team's coach.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_04]: to fall.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_04]: That would be fun.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_04]: I would be fun.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_04]: Then going down to Tampa Bay to play against Baker.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_04]: Remember Todd Monkin was the Buckingier's OC in 2016 to 19.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_04]: No, 20.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_04]: I forget.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_04]: I forget the years between 19.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_04]: He was OC for the Browns and Baker Mayfield.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_04]: And obviously, you know the whole situation with Baker Mayfield getting traded by the Browns.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_04]: Just so we could get to Sean Watson in here.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_04]: Imagine to Sean Watson's the starter.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_04]: It's Baker first to Sean.
- 44:23[UNKNOWN]: Oh.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, the storylines are going to be great.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_04]: That would be so fun.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_04]: The other home opponents, obviously, the Texans, so Deshawn Watson's old team, the team that fleece does for all those first round pigs.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_04]: You got CJ Strauss coming in here.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_04]: The raiders get to come here, so we're going to see for an endoman dose, probably it might be Kirk Cousins.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see what's going on.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_04]: The Panthers and Bryce Young, and then obviously the Colts, what's going on there?
- 44:48[SPEAKER_04]: Is it Danger Jones?
- 44:49[SPEAKER_04]: Will he be healthy as you know, I don't know.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_04]: I'm excited, guys.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_04]: I'm excited for the season.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_04]: I think the Browns will be better than they were the last two years.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_04]: Now that's not saying a whole hell of a lot, because they were very awful last two years, but I think that there's reason for optimism.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_04]: I know I saw a thing, Christopher Knox, he's the guy from Blutcher Report that does a lot of stuff with the NFL, and he projected or predicted that the Browns would be five and 12 yet again, and his whole reasoning was, well, it looks like they want to start to
- 45:22[SPEAKER_04]: is not good.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_04]: And he even said, like, I question their motivation or their focus on winning games in 2026 versus just trying to position themselves for a quarterback in the 2027 draft.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm like, oh, that's real great.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_04]: We have national people looking at what the Browns are talking about with their quarterback and saying, I know just based on who their plan has played a quarterback, we question whether or not they even want to win games.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_04]: Cool.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_04]: Awesome.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_04]: I love hearing that kind of
- 45:51[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see, but I am excited for the season.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_04]: Let's do this.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_04]: Let's get a voicemail in here.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_04]: This one is from our boy Zach aka fake burns.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: What's the hub?
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's Zach, aka fake burns.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's been a minute since I left a voicemail.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of wanted to let the draft simmer for me.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: Really think about it, each of our picks before I said anything.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: Plus, I knew the voice or the inbox would be pretty full.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: So figure it out here from everybody else first and then give my take on it.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: Really happy about the draft.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: Really happy about it.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think Andrew Barry had a phenomenal draft, especially that second round.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: I remember I was at work and I told my buddy,
- 46:30[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know if you see anything if we get Denzel Boston or that safety out of Toledo, I think either of them would be great.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: Comes up to me because yeah, we got both.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, I'm no way, so I think that's awesome.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the quarterback has named us looking my mind right now that we got in the sixth round.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_00]: I like that pick solely because I want him to be our version of Taseem Hill where sometimes
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: Quarterback sneak sometimes I'll get ending around and play a little bit of tight-end kind of play everywhere keep the defense on their toes way too early I'm standing's record Prediction I have us go in a seven and ten or eight nine and no fan duals got us at six and a half wins So I'm smashing that over and then also I saw at the draft they filmed From show called the land.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was gonna be kind of draft day vibes Kind of excited to see where that goes Oh, if you guys haven't heard about it's called the land on Hulu and it comes out later this year But go Browns who who who
- 47:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Zack.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I don't think we've even mentioned that yet on this podcast, but yes, they are who's going to have the land as this new TV series coming out.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_04]: I think it's like a six episode drama.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's got this like generational family component to it.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_04]: It's the owner of the Cleveland Browns, the head coach.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know a whole ton about it.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if there's a whole lot of information really out there yet about everything involved, but
- 47:48[SPEAKER_04]: I know they filmed a scene for it at the draft in Pittsburgh there and they're filming in Cleveland, so that'll be cool.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's always fun when they make TV shows and things about the Browns because
- 48:02[SPEAKER_04]: That's my team, baby.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_04]: It's my team.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_04]: I love to see it.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_04]: If it was about the Chicago Bears, I'd probably still watch it, but it wouldn't be as excited to watch it or as into it.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_04]: It's my team.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_04]: That is my freaking team, and I love this team, even though I can be real, a real stickler about them sometimes.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, going back to what you were saying about tail and green and taste some hill.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_04]: I did a short video.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_04]: I've talked about this, and I'll just reiterate one more time.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_04]: I think we need to pump the brakes.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not saying the Browns can't, or won't use tail and green in packages like that.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_04]: The problem with it is, we are comparing what we want him to do to a player who is like 32 years old, tastes him hell, who has a decade plus, I think, of NFL experience.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_04]: and has spent years transitioning from a quarterback to an all around Swiss army knife gadget type player.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_04]: So I think we got to pump the brakes on expecting a rookie quarterback who's never played tight in, who's never played running back or any of the other positions that we want him to emulate, taste a mill.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_04]: We have to pump the brakes on our expectations of what he will be able to do in your one because like I mentioned before, if you want him out there and I'm talking
- 49:42[SPEAKER_04]: That's one less player you get to dress on game day at another position.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_04]: So, say it's tight end.
- 49:50[SPEAKER_04]: Say the Browns decide, okay, we're gonna go one tight end short here, we're only gonna dress.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_04]: Instead of dressing three, we're just gonna dress fan and royer.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_04]: Well, if somebody gets hurt, you don't have a second tight end then to facilitate your offense because you use that roster spot to have tail and green be active.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_04]: He's not trained as a tight end yet.
- 50:12[SPEAKER_04]: He's not practiced there.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_04]: He's not up to, we don't even know if he's good at it.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_04]: So, I get it, I'm excited too.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_04]: I think the athletic ability is there.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think a transition to wide receiver at some point is going to need to happen like an actual intentional transition, not just, well, he's a quarterback who, hey, Walter's every now and again, put him in a package where he's out wide.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see, we'll see how it goes.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_04]: I just, I think that there is great, great versatility and great options coming down the road with tail and green.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think we just need to temper expectations for how it's all gonna play out right away.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_04]: That's, that's my thing, but hey, again, like I said from the beginning for a six round pick to get that kind of athletic ability.
- 51:02[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_04]: does.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_04]: No brainer.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_04]: Absolute, no brainer.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_04]: So things again for the voice melzac, I hope you're doing well, buddy.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_04]: And I hope to hear from you again here.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_04]: Soon, I got a message short one real quick here from Kevin on the website says, can we start a petition to fire Mary Kay and Tony Grossy?
- 51:19[SPEAKER_04]: I can't stand listening to them.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_04]: I only listen to them when I want to get mad.
- 51:24[SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's
- 51:28[SPEAKER_04]: It's just funny how, by doing this podcast and being active on social media and everything, like just sort of inadvertently run into conflict with some of these Browns media people.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_04]: We've had our, you know, hustles with Tony Grossy on X in years past.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_04]: He blocked us for a couple of years.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_04]: I think I think we're unblocked now.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_04]: But, and I don't even know if we did anything that ever just kind of point out some of his, whatever, Mary K. I don't know, I'm not never better in person, but let's just say the few messages that have been exchanged having exactly been the greatest from her.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_04]: But whatever, either way, you know,
- 52:17[SPEAKER_04]: trying to think how I want to explain this.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_04]: You know, somebody like Mary Kay working for Cleveland.com.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_04]: She does a lot of different things, but she gets paid primarily on clicks.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_04]: So how many times does somebody click and open and read your article?
- 52:37[SPEAKER_04]: on their website because everything's based on their ad revenue and things like that and they don't get paid if the article doesn't get opened.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_04]: So she needs to make sure that she's writing first of all that she's writing a lot of articles and the people are
- 52:52[SPEAKER_04]: encouraged or enticed to open them.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_04]: So that's where you get your click, click the baby headlines.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_04]: That's where you get your, you know, uh, I think they should name to Sean Watson the starter ASAP.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_04]: And here's why, or that's why you get 10 posts every day is say in case you missed it, in case you missed it, just reposting reposting the articles.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_04]: But it's a different business model, and I'm very, very grateful that I'm not in that side of things.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_04]: I would hate, I tried it.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_04]: I tried it with dog pound daily.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know, longtime listeners probably remember.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_04]: I wrote
- 53:26[SPEAKER_04]: It wasn't a, it wasn't a time, maybe 10, 15 articles for them one year, started out.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_04]: And it was, it was cool at first.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_04]: I was really excited about until I realized, man, I just put a whole crap ton of time and effort and research into this article, dot, dot, dot, dot.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I didn't make any money because nobody opened the article, the headline wasn't
- 53:55[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not going to get, I'm not going to go this way where I'm trying to essentially, I hate to say it this way, but sort of trick people into opening my article.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_04]: Even though I, I feel like the stuff I wrote was good, um, because I was, I mean, it's just like the show.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_04]: Well researched, I would hope you guys view it as, but whatever.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_04]: That is my little speel.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_04]: I'll get off my soapbox here about Tony and Mary K. But Kevin, thank you for the voice, Mayor, or thank you for the message.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_04]: Then I got one last voice mail and this one is from Jersey Justin.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_02]: What's up, dog podcast, you're from the Browns fan.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here in Jersey, chime in in here.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_02]: just wanted to reiterate how good it feels that we just did so well on the draft this year and it just feels good to feel good right now, you know.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_02]: I want to talk about Sorosby talk.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_02]: That seems to be the new top, good discussion, right?
- 54:44[SPEAKER_02]: To get out of Cincinnati.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in my opinion, I, you know, I would absolutely stay away from it.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, definitely not a first or second round pick when I spend on him.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_02]: third, you know, I agree with you on that.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_02]: Josh, I think you said third would be there or else you, you know, draft pick you'd spend on them.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_02]: I can agree with that.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_02]: The only way I'm doing that though is like, and I don't know if they would work great, but if it means either to Sean or Dylan gets booted from, you know, if we brought it, it was like Shador and, you know, the Sean or Dylan, I guess, and him, but one of them, you know, got moved.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I'm just on the fan of Dylan Gabriel's play.
- 55:23[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think he's a starting quarterback.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, in the NFL, um, and the Sean obviously, nobody's really a fan of that guy.
- 55:32[SPEAKER_02]: But I guess what I'm saying is the only way I would spend as if it meant one of them would get booted.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_02]: But in all reality, like he's got complications.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_02]: We're on a good path right now.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just stay away from the source.
- 55:42[SPEAKER_02]: We think and just move forward.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_02]: We got excitement going to the season.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_02]: Let's keep that ball rolling.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, go Browns.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_02]: Who?
- 55:48[SPEAKER_04]: Jersey Justin with the quote of the year it feels like as a brownspan just feels good to feel good.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_04]: I love that.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_04]: I love it.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_04]: Feels good to feel good.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yes it does because we don't get that all the time as brownspans.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_04]: I say that all the time is just enjoy it.
- 56:04[SPEAKER_04]: Enjoy the fact that by all counts, you know, by everybody who grades the draft and talks about results, the browns won the draft.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_04]: and then you get all the, well, hang the banner, shut up, just shut up.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_04]: Hang the banner, well, I'll see you in champs.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_04]: Shut up, just shut up.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, it feels good to feel good.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_04]: We did something right for once.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_04]: Does it work out on the field for us?
- 56:27[SPEAKER_04]: Not usually, okay, I get that.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_04]: But you know what, maybe this time it will.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_04]: And that's, that's the essence of being a Browns fan.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe this time it'll work out.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_04]: There's always next year, until you get to next year and that's like, no, it's this year.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_04]: And then, you know, after you lose so many games, like, okay, well, there's always next year.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_04]: we just keep going baby we're like you can't work cockroach you can't kill us you can't keep us down we will come back we will always be here but anyway just talk about the brand of source be thing real quick to wrap it up with that yes i think obviously like a first round pick on brand of sort of you who you would need to be so
- 57:06[SPEAKER_04]: I know Mary case that she would use a first round pick.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_04]: I think she said, I don't know, she said you she would use a second round pick.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_04]: It was Todd McShay that said he would use a first round pick to get Brennan source B.
- 57:17[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of all over the place.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_04]: Some people, scouts and valuators that I listen to and have read about source B.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_04]: Say.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_04]: I don't really see it.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_04]: I don't really see the first round projection.
- 57:27[SPEAKER_04]: Other people say that this dude is a real deal.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_04]: Like this is legit.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know exactly what I believe.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_04]: I haven't done a comprehensive film study myself.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_04]: So I can't give you guys anything from that perspective.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_04]: First round pick.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_04]: No.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_04]: No, like you would have to be so confident in a couple things.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_04]: One, you'd have to be so confident that he can be your future to do a first round pick form.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_04]: Two, you'd have to be so confident that your first round pick next year is going to be outside of the range of getting a quarterback in the 27 draft.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_04]: You would have to be so confident that you're going to win eight, nine, ten games or more this year.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_04]: to feel good about flipping a first round pick to say I want to get out in front of this 2027 draft class.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of teams that are going to be vying for quarterbacks in that class and we don't think we're going to be in the range to organically get one.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_04]: I'll listen to that argument.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_04]: Again, I'll listen to any argument about a quarterback until we have a first round or until we have a locked in solidified unquestioned starter at the position.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, you guys know I believe in Shador Sanders, I want him to get the chance this year.
- 58:33[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see what he can do.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_04]: I want to know if he's the answer or if he's not.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not saying he is.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not saying he's not.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_04]: I'm saying I want to freak and know.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_04]: I would like the opportunity to find out.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_04]: But again, until you got that locked in,
- 58:49[SPEAKER_04]: guaranteed starter.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_04]: You have to investigate every potential answer at the position right now Brenna Source B is a potential answer.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_04]: Second round pick, still a little rich, still a little rich, but not
- 59:05[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't be angry if they came out of an evaluation all their investigation research and stuff into source being said, you know what, again, let's get out ahead of this first round race took the quarterbacks next year and let's just get this guy now.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_04]: They bid a second on pick, they get him.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_04]: You always have this situation comes up where if he's not going to be the guy or you know, it was a bad move, you still have that first round pick in 27 and that's that's even saying he plays in 2026.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_04]: There's talk about maybe he's even suspended to start his career.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what the whole situation is going to come out like.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_04]: It is probably something just and like you said where Kenny was saying this last week.
- 59:55[SPEAKER_04]: That could be true.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_04]: I won't argue with anybody.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, listen, this kid's got gambling addiction problems.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_04]: He's already checked himself into a facility.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_04]: We really want to mess around with it.
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_04]: We had the whole situation with the guardians and they're getting, you know, like, maybe we just stay away.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_04]: I, you know what, I want to fight you on that.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe we just stay away.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_04]: It just really comes down to what the coaches in the scouts see on film and what they feel is the situation off the field.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_04]: But a third round pick, fine.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we used a third round pick on Dylan Gabriel.
- 1:00:29[SPEAKER_04]: I'd much rather have Brendan Sorsby.
- 1:00:31[SPEAKER_04]: I'd much rather use a third round pick flyer on him.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_04]: And anything after that, if you get him for a fourth or something, it's just stupid not to.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_04]: So there is a point where I think we all agree whether we're in or out on Sorsby.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's a point where we all kind of merge together and say, okay, now at that point,
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_04]: duh, go ahead and give it a try.
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_04]: We'll see how that situation plays out.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_04]: It's obviously going to be a very, very heavily talked about topic until there's a resolution.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_04]: So we don't even know, we don't even know if he's going to go in the supplemental draft or if he'll keep his eligibility, we still don't know.
- 1:01:10[UNKNOWN]: Bye.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_04]: Justin, thank you for the voicemail.
