  Speaker 1: with us about life. The One who started life, the

  Speaker 1: One who created humanity, the One who made you and

  Speaker 1: put you into this world is the one who can
• 0:29
  Speaker 1: help your life function the way He designed it to function.

  Speaker 1: There's nothing more important in your life than a good
• 0:36
  Speaker 1: relationship with God and listening to God as He shares
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: His wisdom and perspective on your life. Well, that's what
• 0:44
  Speaker 1: we do each weekday morning at this time. Open the
• 0:47
  Speaker 1: Bible and listen to God. And this week we're looking
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: all week at the importance of giving our finances to God,
• 0:56
  Speaker 1: trusting Him with our finances as we put Him first.

  Speaker 1: I want to take you today to some verses in
• 1:04
  Speaker 1: 1 Timothy chapter 6 in the Bible, where Paul is
• 1:10
  Speaker 1: writing to a young pastor named Timothy and telling him
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: how to minister to the people that God has entrusted
• 1:17
  Speaker 1: to his care. And here's what he says to Timothy
• 1:20
  Speaker 1: about how to teach and mentor wealthy people in his congregation.
• 1:27
  Speaker 1: He says this, starting in verse 17.

  Speaker 1: As for the rich in this present age, charge them
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: not to be haughty.
• 1:40
  Speaker 1: Nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches.

  Speaker 1: But on God.
• 1:49
  Speaker 1: Who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

  Speaker 1: They are to do good, to be rich in good works,
• 1:59
  Speaker 1: to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up

  Speaker 1: treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future
• 2:11
  Speaker 1: so that they may take hold of that which is
• 2:14
  Speaker 1: truly life.

  Speaker 1: Wow, what an awesome word to those of us who
• 2:22
  Speaker 1: live in Australia and have so much more than most
• 2:26
  Speaker 1: people in the world. Paul says to rich people, it's God,
• 2:32
  Speaker 1: not your money, that takes care of you.
• 2:36
  Speaker 1: So don't put your hope in the uncertainty of riches,
• 2:39
  Speaker 1: they can come and go. COVID can come, it can
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: smash your business. You never know what's going to happen.

  Speaker 1: Your riches are uncertain. Your money is not what takes
• 2:50
  Speaker 1: care of you. God is the one who takes care
• 2:55
  Speaker 1: of you.
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: And he also has given you the money that he's
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: given you, and he wants you to enjoy it. He
• 3:02
  Speaker 1: doesn't want you to feel guilty about having some nice things, no,
• 3:06
  Speaker 1: but he says, do good and be rich in good works,
• 3:11
  Speaker 1: not just in money. Be generous, ready to share.
• 3:16
  Speaker 1: And when you do that you're storing up real treasures,
• 3:20
  Speaker 1: for when you go to be with the Lord and
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: you take hold of what is truly life.
• 3:27
  Speaker 1: Having money, having nice things, that is not truly life, right?
• 3:32
  Speaker 1: Real life is found in being generous, sharing, giving, putting
• 3:39
  Speaker 1: God first, building God's kingdom with the finances He has
• 3:44
  Speaker 1: entrusted to you.
• 3:46
  Speaker 1: So often we tend to give God the leftovers, right?
• 3:50
  Speaker 1: After we've spent everything we want to spend on ourselves,
• 3:53
  Speaker 1: if there's some leftover, we think, OK, what will I
• 3:55
  Speaker 1: give to? And certainly, if we have more money, this
• 4:00
  Speaker 1: can be a tendency.
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: But if you just put God first.
• 4:06
  Speaker 1: Not the leftovers, but from the beginning, decide in your heart,
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: this is what I'm going to give to, to the
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: things that really matter to God.
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: Then watch him take care of you.
• 4:21
  Speaker 1: They that honour me I will honour, says the Lord,
• 4:24
  Speaker 1: and I think of, uh, what the psalmist says. I
• 4:28
  Speaker 1: have never seen the righteous forsaken or their descendants begging
• 4:34
  Speaker 1: for bread.
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: If you put God first in your life, trust Him,
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: and He'll take care of you. I'm John North.
