- 1:35SPEAKER_04: Thank you.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: Hello, everyone.
- 1:37SPEAKER_02: Thanks for being here.
- 1:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and thanks for letting us come here and you be on the podcast.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: So before we uh get started with, you know, some news going on this weekend and also a wonderful community event.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: We have our sips drinks here.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 1:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_04: Let's do cheers these years.
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: Look at us.
- 1:55SPEAKER_04: Okay, so Lindy brought us our official drinks because she is the drink sponsor.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 2:00SPEAKER_04: Now, Lindy, tell me what you brought me today.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: She surprised me and I have not taken a sip.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: So this is authentic.
- 2:05SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 2:05SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 2:06SPEAKER_03: So that is on our summer menu.
- 2:08SPEAKER_03: It's the banana bread latte.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: We just have a couple weeks left of our summer menu before we go to the fall.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: So I wanted to have you try that one.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: Okay, so here we go.
- 2:16SPEAKER_03: Banana bread latte.
- 2:18SPEAKER_03: I hear great things.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that one's super popular.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: This reaction.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: 12 out of 10 review.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Oh my God.
- 2:25unknown: Oh my God.
- 2:26SPEAKER_04: Okay, first of all, I'm like so glad because I'm like Laura.
- 2:29SPEAKER_04: I stick to the thing.
- 2:31SPEAKER_04: I don't like to try new things.
- 2:32SPEAKER_04: This, I'm so excited for this partnership, is all I can say.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: Guys, so how many weeks they got left?
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: Maybe two?
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, two.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: We're dropping the fall menu August 31st.
- 2:41SPEAKER_03: That's exciting.
- 2:42SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 2:42SPEAKER_04: That is exciting.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: And we're kind of in a fall backdrop here here at Brave Hazel.
- 2:46SPEAKER_04: So fall's falling, falling right in.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: We're falling right into fall, aren't we?
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: So Laura, tell us what do you have?
- 2:53SPEAKER_02: I have my true sugar-free vanilla ice coffee with oat milk.
- 2:59SPEAKER_02: It's my favorite.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: I just can't get away from it.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Now I will do pumpkin.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: Like I will do a pumpkin one.
- 3:04SPEAKER_02: She does a PSL.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Yep, I do.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: But man, and I might switch back to hot, but I do cold as long as I can.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: I mean you guys, you just can't be.
- 3:13SPEAKER_02: That's it.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: I'm telling you, it's my all-time fave.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: And one thing I like to say about this coffee, and I told my husband this like a couple weeks ago, is sometimes coffee can be so bitter.
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: And I know this sounds weird.
- 3:26SPEAKER_04: And I I know that there's sweetener in it.
- 3:28SPEAKER_04: Okay, I get it, I get.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: But your coffee itself almost kind of has like a sweet.
- 3:32SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 3:33SPEAKER_04: There it is.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: A smooth, sweet taste.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: So I love that, especially for all of us girlies who like I'm not knocking back an espresso shot.
- 3:41SPEAKER_04: Like the Brazilian.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: It's all in the beans.
- 3:43SPEAKER_03: We have a great coffee roaster that we've stuck with from the beginning, and I will never switch from him.
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: He he they do a great job.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh, I love that.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: So what do you've got?
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: What do you got today, Lindy?
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: So I wasn't feeling coffee actually today, crazy enough.
- 3:57SPEAKER_03: So I'm drinking a lotus, which is like basically like an energy drink, strawberry, peach, and coconut.
- 4:03SPEAKER_03: So it looks good.
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: It is very good.
- 4:07SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 4:09SPEAKER_04: Yes, and that's healthy energy, correct?
- 4:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: It's plant-based energy.
- 4:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:13SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: So there's our review.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, I don't really foresee us giving anything under a 12 out of 10 review.
- 4:21SPEAKER_04: No, mine's like a 14 out of 10.
- 4:22SPEAKER_04: Oh, shoot.
- 4:23SPEAKER_04: She's one upper here, folks.
- 4:25SPEAKER_04: It never lets me down.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 4:27SPEAKER_04: It's time to talk about why we're actually here today.
- 4:30SPEAKER_04: There's a big community event going on this Saturday that you two are putting on, okay?
- 4:35SPEAKER_04: Sips, Coffee Co.
- 4:36SPEAKER_04: and Brave Hazel Boutique for a very special person that's going through a rough time.
- 4:41SPEAKER_04: Lindy, tell us what's going on this weekend.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: So we are holding a Pack the House at our Verden Sips location.
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: Um, it's basically going to be a fundraiser for someone very special to us.
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: Her name's Adrian, and we are gonna raise money for her family.
- 4:55SPEAKER_04: I love that.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: And and tell us, Laura, why are so Adrienne's one of your friends, one of your customers.
- 5:01SPEAKER_04: Smiling face.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: I know her.
- 5:02SPEAKER_04: We love seeing her.
- 5:03SPEAKER_04: Now, why are you involved in this?
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: So Adrien is actually an employee of ours, and I've known her dad for years.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: Um, her dad, Justin Adams, a K A fish, he's been called that for as long as I've known him.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: He was in a terrible accident four or five weeks ago now.
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: And he has a really long recovery.
- 5:22SPEAKER_02: He is, we're getting positive updates constantly.
- 5:24SPEAKER_02: Praise the Lord for that, but still a long road ahead of him as far as therapy, every kind of therapy you can think of.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: Adrienne is so dear to our hearts.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: She works for us and is the most precious human.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: So we want to do anything we can to support her wonderful family.
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: So we are, along with Sips, having a pack the house this Saturday where all of our sales, 100% of sales, will go towards Wow.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Oh my God.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: I didn't realize that.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, 100% of sales.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: And we've we've never done that before, but something God was putting on our hearts, and we are just so excited to do that.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: She is very special to us, and so is her family.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: And what better can a community do than pull together in hard times?
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: We've seen it in Carlinville, Verdon, small towns, time and time again.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's what we do, right?
- 6:12SPEAKER_04: It is what we do.
- 6:13SPEAKER_04: We stick together, and that's one thing that we've talked about all around here in the Midwest, with Coopin County, surrounding counties.
- 6:19SPEAKER_04: We are just built different.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 6:22SPEAKER_04: You know what I'm saying?
- 6:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we are.
- 6:24SPEAKER_04: It's true.
- 6:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're 10 minutes, man.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: So I love that.
- 6:27SPEAKER_04: So tell me 100% of sales.
- 6:30SPEAKER_04: What time is this?
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: Is that what you're doing too, Linda?
- 6:33SPEAKER_04: Yes, yeah.
- 6:34SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: And then I want to mention that Cabin Cakes Bakery will also be set up here in Brave Hazel from nine to noon.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: We'll be open till three, but she'll be here from nine to noon on Saturday morning with sweet treats and donating her profits to the family.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: So that's super exciting.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: So come get baked goods too.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: So what is your timeline, Lindy, at FIPS in Burden?
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: We're gonna be open our normal hours, so 8 a.m.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: to 3 p.m.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: And I do want to mention we'll have donation boxes as well.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: So if you just want to come in and drop, you know, some money or a monetary donation by we'll have uh donation boxes here too.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: Yep, we will too.
- 7:11SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 7:12SPEAKER_04: My gosh, you guys, I mean, first of all, having a horrible accident and and being the father of a family, you know, the a provider.
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: I mean, the the leader.
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry, I'm old-fashioned.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: Okay, so yeah, I mean, and and the kids, it is just absolutely heart-wrenching, but it is also heartwarming to hear that this is happening, and I'm sure that the family is just ever so grateful.
- 7:35SPEAKER_04: I'm sure there's gonna be lots of tears.
- 7:36SPEAKER_04: Now, will they be there?
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: So Adrian actually left for college, which I'm so proud of her.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: So she we are going to FaceTime her and show her, and I'm sure she will be FaceTimed from it from sips as well to see the excitement and just share in the moments.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: Okay, I know that you two obviously, you know, you care about Adrian.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: You're friends, you're friends with with Fish.
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 7:59SPEAKER_04: Which, by the way, how what's where's the name come from?
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: I gotta know.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: Do you know?
- 8:03SPEAKER_02: I do not know.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: Sadly, I don't know.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: I've just always I didn't even know his name was Justin for the longest time.
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: I'm even kidding back.
- 8:11SPEAKER_02: I didn't either.
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: I thought it was Fish.
- 8:13SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Okay, that's how you know that is a good nickname.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: Well, hey, if anybody's listening to this and you know, or maybe we can get Adrian on the FaceTime, we'll ask her.
- 8:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you know, I surely she knows that.
- 8:24SPEAKER_04: I'm surprised I've never asked her, but yeah.
- 8:25SPEAKER_04: Right, it's gotta be a good guy.
- 8:27SPEAKER_04: So why I want to ask both both of you this.
- 8:30SPEAKER_04: Yes, both of you are always just been huge into the community, above and beyond.
- 8:36SPEAKER_04: Give, give, give, give, give.
- 8:38SPEAKER_04: But why?
- 8:38SPEAKER_02: The community doesn't stop showing up for us.
- 8:41SPEAKER_03: So why would we not want to give back?
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: I mean, I think you feel the same way, right?
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: Yes, yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: And I just feel like that was what brought us to want to open a local business is to be able to give back to our community.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: Because what else would what else would we do with it?
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, um they pour into us and we want to pour back into them.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 9:00SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: I just I look, and and you guys, we did say we would probably we were probably gonna cry on a podcast.
- 9:07SPEAKER_04: It looks like we're all clear right now.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: I see a little bit of I have a lump in my throat.
- 9:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I see a little bit of tears in both the eyes, and I know mine too, but you know, like they said, it's just near and dear to both their hearts and and to the community.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: And you can always look to Brave Hazel Boutique and Sib's Coffee Co.
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: to be leaders in the community.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: And I want to say that too.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: By you guys doing this, what's that show to other businesses and people in the community?
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: You lead by example.
- 9:33SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Yes, thank you.

- 9:55SPEAKER_03: Here it goes.
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: You're gonna make it through the thing.
- 9:57SPEAKER_03: I knew I couldn't make it through it, man.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: I can't make it through anything these days.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: It is gonna be such a great day.
