- Lucas: Hey Luna, ready for another episode of Learn German with Fexingo? Luna: Absolutely! I've been practicing my German around the house. But today, I want to get out. Let's go to the airport! Lucas: Perfect timing. We haven't done airport vocabulary yet. So today we'll learn a few key phrases for checking in and boarding. Luna: Ooh, I'm excited. I always feel lost at the airport when I try to speak German. Lucas: Let's start easy. First thing you need: 'Where is the check-in?' In German: 'Wo ist der Check-in?' Luna: Wo ist der Check-in. Lucas: Yes, perfect. 'Wo ist der Check-in?' Repeat it once more. Luna: Wo ist der Check-in. Lucas: Great. Now imagine you're at the counter. You say: 'I have a flight.' In German: 'Ich habe einen Flug.' Luna: Ich habe einen Flug. Lucas: Exactly. 'Ich habe einen Flug.' Now tell them the time: 'The flight goes at ten o'clock.' In German: 'Der Flug geht um zehn Uhr.' Luna: Der Flug geht um zehn Uhr. Lucas: Good. You can change 'zehn' to any time. So let's practice: 'Der Flug geht um drei Uhr.' Luna: Der Flug geht um drei Uhr. Lucas: Perfect. Now you hand over your passport and say: 'Here is my passport.' In German: 'Hier ist mein Pass.' Luna: Hier ist mein Pass. Lucas: Yes, 'Hier ist mein Pass.' And then they ask about luggage. You say: 'This is my luggage.' In German: 'Das ist mein Gepäck.' Luna: Das ist mein Gepäck. Lucas: Exactly. 'Das ist mein Gepäck.' Now, after check-in, you ask: 'Which gate?' In German: 'Welches Gate?' Luna: Welches Gate. Lucas: Right. 'Welches Gate?' Let's put it all together in a little scene. You walk up to the check-in desk. Luna: Okay. I'll try. 'Guten Tag. Ich habe einen Flug. Der Flug geht um zehn Uhr. Hier ist mein Pass. Das ist mein Gepäck. Welches Gate?' Lucas: That is spot on. Perfect delivery. Luna: Aww thanks. I feel like I can actually do this now. Lucas: You absolutely can. And if you practice these phrases, checking in will be a breeze. Luna: You know, it's amazing that we have so many episodes like this. I mean, over a hundred, all free. Lucas: Yeah, it's a lot of work, but it's rewarding. And we keep it ad‑free because of listeners who chip in through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: Oh, that's nice. So a small group helps fund the show for everyone? Lucas: Exactly. It's a simple way to keep these lessons coming. No pressure, just if you find it useful. Luna: Totally. Now back to the airport — what if I need to say 'My flight is delayed'? Lucas: Good question. That would be 'Mein Flug hat Verspätung.' But let's save that for another episode. For now, let's review our six phrases one more time. Luna: Sure. 'Wo ist der Check-in?' Lucas: Yes. Luna: 'Ich habe einen Flug.' Lucas: Yeah. Luna: 'Der Flug geht um zehn Uhr.' Lucas: Great. Luna: 'Hier ist mein Pass.' 'Das ist mein Gepäck.' And 'Welches Gate?' Lucas: Excellent. You remembered them all. Luna: I did. And I'll practice them before my next trip. Thanks, Lucas. Lucas: Anytime, Luna. And listeners, keep practicing. We'll be back soon with more German. This is Learn German with Fexingo. Luna: Bis bald!
