- 0:49SPEAKER_1: Hope everyone is doing well here in central Indiana,
- 0:52SPEAKER_1: all across Indiana, as well as many are still recovering from the floods.
- 0:57SPEAKER_1: A lot of rain that we've had.
- 0:59SPEAKER_1: Certainly hope that, you know, those that have been displaced because of the flooding.
- 1:05SPEAKER_1: We know there's a lot of folks that are going to either have to rebuild, relocate.
- 1:11SPEAKER_1: Readjust.
- 1:12SPEAKER_1: So we're praying for all of those families that have been impacted and want
- 1:16SPEAKER_1: to say welcome everyone that's joining us on today.
- 1:20SPEAKER_1: I'm Reverend Tony Alexander and I'm joined by President Pastor David W.
- 1:24SPEAKER_1: Greene Sr. And Pastor, I'm going to ask you to lead us in prayer.
- 1:28SPEAKER_1: Please keep those folks in mind that are having to go through the strain of trying
- 1:33SPEAKER_1: to recover from what has just happened due to all the flooding here in Indiana.
- 1:40SPEAKER_2: Yes, eternal God, our Father, we come before you once again as humble as we know how.

- 2:10SPEAKER_2: And please bless our time together on this evening in Jesus' name.
- 2:14SPEAKER_2: Amen.
- 2:15SPEAKER_1: Amen.

- 2:40SPEAKER_1: the Concerned Clergy of Indianapolis.
- 2:42SPEAKER_1: Feel free to comment there.
- 2:45SPEAKER_1: And we want to make you part of the program.
- 2:48SPEAKER_1: So once again, I'm Tony Alexander.
- 2:50SPEAKER_1: Glad to be joined by our president,
- 2:52SPEAKER_1: Pastor David W. Greene Sr. Mr.
- 2:54SPEAKER_1: President,
- 2:55SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 2:55SPEAKER_1: as we've been talking,
- 2:57SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 2:57SPEAKER_1: here early on in our program,
- 2:58SPEAKER_1: we got a lot of folks that are dealing with hardship just because we had
- 3:03SPEAKER_1: an unexpected storm.
- 3:05SPEAKER_1: They're trying to,
- 3:06SPEAKER_1: in a lot of cases,
- 3:08SPEAKER_1: find answers to,
- 3:09SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 3:09SPEAKER_1: how did we have all this flooding,
- 3:11SPEAKER_1: especially here,
- 3:12SPEAKER_1: you know, in the metropolitan area of Indianapolis without really much warning.
- 3:19SPEAKER_1: A lot of folks are really still trying to,
- 3:22SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 3:22SPEAKER_1: find their ways to even get back to their homes because there's still a lot
- 3:26SPEAKER_1: of flooding going on.
- 3:28SPEAKER_1: On tonight's program,
- 3:30SPEAKER_1: we're going to talk about some of the issues that can come as part of that.
- 3:35SPEAKER_1: One of those is we know FEMA.
- 3:39SPEAKER_1: Are we going to be able to get funds?
- 3:42SPEAKER_1: A lot of folks aren't going to be able to claim on their insurance for flood insurance.
- 3:49SPEAKER_1: So we're going to have to depend on some resources that are going to come
- 3:55SPEAKER_1: from some other areas to help some of those individuals,
- 3:58SPEAKER_1: those families, to be able to start all over again.
- 4:04SPEAKER_1: And we've,
- 4:05SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 4:06SPEAKER_1: as we've gone through this year,
- 4:08SPEAKER_1: we know there are a lot of cuts that have been going on.
- 4:11SPEAKER_1: FEMA's been one of them.
- 4:15SPEAKER_1: What do you see as far as,
- 4:17SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 4:18SPEAKER_1: some of those folks that are going to have to,
- 4:20SPEAKER_1: you know, maybe look for alternative sources other than insurance?
- 4:25SPEAKER_1: Are you able to, you know, you got your ears to the ground.
- 4:28SPEAKER_1: You hearing anything that's going to be made available for those individuals?
- 4:33SPEAKER_2: Not at this time.
- 4:34SPEAKER_2: I mean, I think a lot of hope is in,
- 4:36SPEAKER_2: you know, what the president is going to do in terms of really releasing dollars.
- 4:43SPEAKER_2: I think that's going to be critical.
- 4:46SPEAKER_2: I think that's where everybody's looking to initially.
- 4:49SPEAKER_2: And we'll see what that looks like,
- 4:52SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 4:53SPEAKER_2: when that comes to pass,
- 4:55SPEAKER_2: if that comes to pass,
- 4:56SPEAKER_2: what that looks like, because there's obviously been a lot of damage.
- 5:01SPEAKER_2: And as you stated earlier, insurance for many people is not going to cover it.
- 5:07SPEAKER_2: Unfortunately, I'm not the insurance agent.
- 5:09SPEAKER_2: If somebody's listening, they can explain it.
- 5:11SPEAKER_2: A lot of times they require a special type of insurance.
- 5:15SPEAKER_2: And if you didn't pay into that, then you're not going to be eligible, unfortunately.
- 5:22SPEAKER_2: And I think some people are going to find that out as they march
- 5:24SPEAKER_2: through this process trying to recover, unfortunately.
- 5:27SPEAKER_2: But you just hope that the federal government comes through and
- 5:34SPEAKER_2: that money will come down to the state and get dispatched out.
- 5:38SPEAKER_2: Unfortunately, we do know that a number of FEMA staff members have been cut.
- 5:48SPEAKER_2: There's been a huge cut.
- 5:51SPEAKER_2: You know, does that impact the ability to get this money out?
- 5:55SPEAKER_2: Does it impact, you know, what this looks like in terms of recovery?
- 6:00SPEAKER_2: That is, I think that's the ultimate question we're going to be facing.
- 6:05SPEAKER_2: And clearly in the next month or so, we're going to have a real good answer to that.
- 6:09SPEAKER_2: Because when you had all the DOGE cuts and all that other stuff, when that was popular...
- 6:15SPEAKER_2: Reverend Alexander, okay,
- 6:17SPEAKER_2: you don't think you're going to need FEMA because nobody's expecting floods to come
- 6:22SPEAKER_2: through central Indiana or through Indiana and wipe this much out.
- 6:26SPEAKER_2: We're not going to get this much rain in August.
- 6:29SPEAKER_2: That was viewed as impossible, so you don't worry about FEMA.
- 6:33SPEAKER_2: You don't worry about FEMA until you really need FEMA.
- 6:35SPEAKER_2: Now we're in a situation where we need FEMA and,
- 6:39SPEAKER_2: you know, having it gone through a lot of reductions, what does that look like?
- 6:48SPEAKER_1: We're going to talk about on tonight's program and you can be part of it.
- 6:51SPEAKER_1: And if you're listening, you can call in 317-480-1310.
- 6:55SPEAKER_1: And as we go along in our program tonight,
- 6:56SPEAKER_1: the questions I'm going to raise is,
- 6:58SPEAKER_1: does our government actually really care for the people?
- 7:01SPEAKER_1: That's a question that we have on the table.
- 7:04SPEAKER_1: Does the federal government -- and even we're getting ready to see --
- 7:07SPEAKER_1: does the state government really care about the people?
- 7:12SPEAKER_1: And we've seen in the past when we're talking about natural disasters,
- 7:17SPEAKER_1: we've seen it being politicized where if you are,
- 7:22SPEAKER_1: quote-unquote, a predominantly Democrat state where funds have been withheld.
- 7:30SPEAKER_1: We've seen that in many cases where the federal government has gone into courts and said
- 7:36SPEAKER_1: that they are pulling funding for grants
- 7:41SPEAKER_1: simply because that state overwhelmingly or just from a simple majority voted
- 7:48SPEAKER_1: for Kamala Harris and they didn't vote for Donald Trump.
- 7:52SPEAKER_1: And they denied the grants simply because of that reason.
- 7:58SPEAKER_1: So once again, I'm raising the question on tonight.
- 8:01SPEAKER_1: Does our government -- both federal and state -- do they really care about the people?
- 8:08SPEAKER_1: We're going to let Senator Warnock --
- 8:12SPEAKER_1: the Reverend Senator Warnock out of Georgia --
- 8:14SPEAKER_1: he's going to help guide us, if you will, on tonight.
- 8:18SPEAKER_1: He's going to help guide us by using scripture.
- 8:22SPEAKER_1: This is the Concerned Clergy program.
- 8:24SPEAKER_1: He's going to help guide us by using scripture and we're going to allow him
- 8:28SPEAKER_1: to share what he shared in a Senate committee hearing.
- 8:33SPEAKER_1: And we're going to walk through the way he described it and the way he asked questions.
- 8:39SPEAKER_1: And we're going to ask those same questions.
- 8:42SPEAKER_1: So we're going to bring in our Senator Warnock at this time to kind of listen
- 8:49SPEAKER_1: to how he addressed the question that we have on the table.
- 8:54SPEAKER_1: Does our government really care for the people?
- 8:57SPEAKER_1: Brother Warnock.
- 8:59SPEAKER_3: [From a Senate committee hearing] Well, thank you so much.
- 9:01SPEAKER_3: Your introduction was prescient.
- 9:03SPEAKER_3: You'll see why, Brother Chair.
- 9:05SPEAKER_3: According to a recent Fox News poll,
- 9:09SPEAKER_3: more than half of all voters feel
- 9:12SPEAKER_3: that President Trump's economy only helps rich people,
- 9:18SPEAKER_3: with an additional 15% saying his economy helps, quote, no one.
- 9:24SPEAKER_3: And that same Fox News poll found that three out of five voters feel pessimistic
- 9:30SPEAKER_3: about the economy.
- 9:32SPEAKER_3: Doesn't matter much what those of us on this panel feel, what the American people feel.
- 9:38SPEAKER_3: Consumer sentiment is near record lows.
- 9:42SPEAKER_3: Ordinary Americans know Donald Trump's economy isn't working for them.
- 9:46SPEAKER_3: Dr. Morgan, you're an expert on the economy.
- 9:51SPEAKER_3: I don't know your faith tradition or if you share a particular faith tradition at all.
- 9:58SPEAKER_3: But I'm a Matthew 25 Christian,
- 10:01SPEAKER_3: meaning I like to center my work on the least among us,
- 10:05SPEAKER_3: the poor, the most marginalized.
- 10:11SPEAKER_3: Isaiah, whom I've been reading a lot lately,
- 10:14SPEAKER_3: says, who are you to crush my people, to grind the face of the poor?
- 10:19SPEAKER_3: So I want to dig into that verse from Matthew 25 to assess the Trump economy.
- 10:25SPEAKER_3: It says where I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.
- 10:27SPEAKER_3: I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.
- 10:32SPEAKER_3: Dr. Morgan, how have the president's policies been for hungry Americans?
- 10:38SPEAKER_4: Senator Warnock, the president's policies have pushed more and more Americans into hunger.
- 10:44SPEAKER_4: We've seen actually 4 million people lose their SNAP benefits
- 10:48SPEAKER_4: under this administration, about 700,000 of them were children.
- 10:54SPEAKER_4: And the Century Foundation's own polling shows that one
- 10:56SPEAKER_4: in three Americans have skipped meals in order to deal with their cost
- 11:03SPEAKER_4: of living crisis.
- 11:04SPEAKER_3: You said four million Americans.
- 11:07SPEAKER_3: And you said 700,000 of the Americans kicked off of SNAP are children.
- 11:12SPEAKER_4: That's right.
- 11:14SPEAKER_3: Because I've met with the speaker and others,
- 11:17SPEAKER_3: and they're saying that these are well-bodied, able-bodied men.
- 11:22SPEAKER_3: Who are kicked off of SNAP.
- 11:23SPEAKER_3: You're saying these cuts are leaving children food insecure.
- 11:30SPEAKER_3: Let's try another one.
- 11:32SPEAKER_1: Let's pause right there for a second before we go on,
- 11:34SPEAKER_1: because we're going to --
- 11:36SPEAKER_1: and Senator Warnock did a great job of kind of chopping up the questions utilizing
- 11:42SPEAKER_1: the scripture there in Matthew 25.
- 11:45SPEAKER_1: Once again, if you'd like to be part of the conversation, call in 317-480-1310.
- 11:49SPEAKER_1: Mr. President,
- 11:50SPEAKER_1: I want to comment or ask you to comment,
- 11:53SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 11:53SPEAKER_1: on that point right there,
- 11:55SPEAKER_1: because not only has SNAP just been an issue,
- 11:58SPEAKER_1: you know, when it looks across, you know, the land federally.
- 12:02SPEAKER_1: But here in the state,
- 12:04SPEAKER_1: benefits such as, you know, that could help children are being taken away.
- 12:07SPEAKER_1: School-age children, we're seeing child care, other cuts that are going on right here.
- 12:14SPEAKER_1: It goes back to the original question.
- 12:16SPEAKER_1: Does the government care for the people?
- 12:19SPEAKER_1: Senator Warnock is helping us understand.
- 12:21SPEAKER_1: Here's some true data
- 12:24SPEAKER_1: that Dr. Morgan has provided that shares the impact of some of the policies.
- 12:31SPEAKER_2: Well, yeah, I mean,
- 12:32SPEAKER_2: I applaud Senator Warnock for his work on this,
- 12:36SPEAKER_2: his question and framing it around Matthew 25,
- 12:39SPEAKER_2: because,
- 12:40SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 12:40SPEAKER_2: we want to claim we're a religious state and religious country,
- 12:48SPEAKER_2: you know, but as he noted how children are being cut off SNAP.
- 12:53SPEAKER_2: Children were taken out of CCDF, things that would educate children.
- 12:59SPEAKER_2: That was removed here in the state of Indiana.
- 13:02SPEAKER_2: Mitch Roob was in charge of FSSA at the state level.
- 13:08SPEAKER_2: They've taken that stuff.
- 13:09SPEAKER_2: We're fighting to get some of the vouchers back.
- 13:13SPEAKER_2: Not all of it.
- 13:14SPEAKER_2: That's what's needed for the state of Indiana, just to get some of it back.
- 13:20SPEAKER_2: We're willing to sacrifice children.
- 13:22SPEAKER_2: We're willing to sacrifice support.
- 13:25SPEAKER_2: It is not a question of all these people are just well-abled bodies that can do stuff.
- 13:31SPEAKER_2: No.
- 13:32SPEAKER_2: We're cutting Medicaid, Medicare.
- 13:35SPEAKER_2: We're cutting across the board.
- 13:38SPEAKER_2: And we are vicious about it.
- 13:40SPEAKER_2: It certainly does not line up with Matthew 25, where it says if I was hungry, they fed you.
- 13:46SPEAKER_2: That means we wouldn't have food deserts in our communities, Reverend Alexander.
- 13:51SPEAKER_2: That wouldn't be happening.
- 13:56SPEAKER_2: And we have to call that out.
- 13:58SPEAKER_2: He's doing a great job of calling that out and challenging those,
- 14:04SPEAKER_2: quote-unquote, who would say they're Christians?
- 14:09SPEAKER_2: Because unfortunately,
- 14:10SPEAKER_2: a lot of these legislators and other people,
- 14:13SPEAKER_2: they are members of people's churches, by my example.
- 14:15SPEAKER_2: They're not just a whole bunch of people who have no faith tradition at all.
- 14:21SPEAKER_2: Many of them, most of them, will be in somebody's church on Sunday.
- 14:28SPEAKER_1: Let's talk about that piece, you know, because Senator Warnock, you know, he's using scripture.
- 14:34SPEAKER_1: You mentioned that a lot of folks, you know, are going to be at somebody's church.
- 14:38SPEAKER_1: And, you know,
- 14:39SPEAKER_1: we hear a lot of times,
- 14:40SPEAKER_1: you know, the category, if you will, of Christian nationalism.
- 14:45SPEAKER_1: And I want those folks who are listening to us to really reflect,
- 14:51SPEAKER_1: look in the mirror and ask themselves,
- 14:53SPEAKER_1: are you Christian first or are you a nationalist first?
- 14:56SPEAKER_1: Do you put America before you put Jesus?
- 14:59SPEAKER_1: That's the question that I want to ask you.
- 15:01SPEAKER_1: And as you're voting,
- 15:03SPEAKER_1: as you're out there,
- 15:04SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 15:06SPEAKER_1: politicking, campaigning, talking to other folks about what's going on here.
- 15:11SPEAKER_1: Who are you putting first?
- 15:12SPEAKER_1: Are you putting Trump before Jesus?
- 15:14SPEAKER_1: Are you putting policy before the word?
- 15:17SPEAKER_1: Where are you in that?
- 15:19SPEAKER_1: And really look at yourself in the mirror and say,
- 15:23SPEAKER_1: am I more devoted to a country than I am to the word that tells me how I have to act
- 15:32SPEAKER_1: as a disciple of Christ?
- 15:36SPEAKER_2: Well,
- 15:36SPEAKER_2: I think that the answer is that if people would wrestle with it -- they are trying
- 15:41SPEAKER_2: to put country before God and what the scripture teaches.
- 15:49SPEAKER_2: I mean, you know, we're following Matthew 25.
- 15:54SPEAKER_2: Not only did the Lord ask about eating and drinking,
- 15:57SPEAKER_2: but he says, I was a stranger and you invited me in.
- 16:02SPEAKER_2: That's counter to everything that's about the ICE movement
- 16:06SPEAKER_2: and all this other stuff that's going on that we're seeing in our country.
- 16:12SPEAKER_2: And then the statements that the lieutenant governor and others make about, well,
- 16:16SPEAKER_2: if you ain't,
- 16:17SPEAKER_2: you know, his style of Christian, a nationalist, then you're not a Christian.
- 16:21SPEAKER_2: As though you have to be an American,
- 16:25SPEAKER_2: a white American in particular, in order to be a Christian.
- 16:29SPEAKER_2: Otherwise, you're considered a heathen or less than.
- 16:32SPEAKER_2: And they miss the whole thing.
- 16:34SPEAKER_2: And, you know, they don't deal with, quote-unquote, Matthew 25 the way scripture is.
- 16:40SPEAKER_2: And we have to have, you know, Warnock is doing a great job.
- 16:45SPEAKER_2: Senator Warnock is doing a great job raising critical questions.
- 16:50SPEAKER_2: So are we really putting America in front of God or putting America in front of the Bible?
- 16:57SPEAKER_2: Because the Bible is saying in Matthew 25, these are things we're supposed to do.
- 17:02SPEAKER_2: And if we are,
- 17:03SPEAKER_2: quote-unquote,
- 17:03SPEAKER_2: the richest country in the world,
- 17:05SPEAKER_2: how in the world do we leave people in a poor space?
- 17:10SPEAKER_2: How is it, you know, you're the richest country in the world.
- 17:13SPEAKER_2: You say you believe in the Bible.
- 17:16SPEAKER_2: Why would we have hunger at the levels that we do have?
- 17:20SPEAKER_2: How do we do that?
- 17:21SPEAKER_2: How do you rationalize not having health care available to people
- 17:26SPEAKER_2: and leaving them sick and leaving people without housing,
- 17:30SPEAKER_2: leaving people without food?
- 17:33SPEAKER_2: And then say, oh, yeah, I'm a Christian.
- 17:35SPEAKER_2: Like, really?
- 17:36SPEAKER_2: Like, what's that look like?
- 17:37SPEAKER_2: Because it's a long way from what the Bible does say.
- 17:42SPEAKER_2: And Matthew 25 is a key component of that.
- 17:44SPEAKER_2: This is Jesus talking.
- 17:46SPEAKER_2: It's not a prophet that said it.
- 17:48SPEAKER_2: Jesus himself is saying, hey, I want to know this.
- 17:52SPEAKER_2: I was hungry.
- 17:53SPEAKER_2: When did you feed me?
- 17:55SPEAKER_2: Well, let's listen to some hungry people.
- 17:57SPEAKER_2: When did you feed them?
- 17:59SPEAKER_1: Exactly.
- 18:00SPEAKER_1: Well, let's listen to some more, you know, as Senator Warnock walked down Matthew 25.
- 18:08SPEAKER_1: And I do want to say good evening to those that are on our Facebook page.
- 18:12SPEAKER_1: Brother Gerrelian,
- 18:13SPEAKER_1: our Progressive Indiana Network partners and Sister Denise,
- 18:17SPEAKER_1: good evening to all of you.
- 18:20SPEAKER_1: We'll try to get to some of your comments here shortly.
- 18:23SPEAKER_1: But let's go ahead and once again, listen a little bit more to Senator Warnock.
- 18:30SPEAKER_3: The text goes on to say, for I needed clothes and you clothed me.
- 18:34SPEAKER_3: Dr. Morgan, how have the president's policies been for poor, unemployed, or unhoused Americans?
- 18:39SPEAKER_4: The president's tax cuts alone had a massive effect on low-income families.
- 18:46SPEAKER_4: Low-income families actually lost money under H.R.
- 18:50SPEAKER_4: 1
- 18:51SPEAKER_4: to the tune of about $1,200.
- 18:53SPEAKER_3: That's the one big, beautiful bill.
- 18:54SPEAKER_4: That's right.
- 18:56SPEAKER_4: But the Trump administration has also taken other actions that directly target poor
- 19:00SPEAKER_4: and unhoused families.
- 19:01SPEAKER_4: You know,
- 19:01SPEAKER_4: the Trump administration has attempted to impose time limits and work requirements
- 19:06SPEAKER_4: on rental assistance.
- 19:08SPEAKER_4: They propose cuts and changes to programs that support the homeless.
- 19:11SPEAKER_4: And then rising utility costs are also hurting the poorest families as well.
- 19:17SPEAKER_1: Matthew 25 says -- before I was sick -- all right,
- 19:20SPEAKER_1: we're going to pause right there because we're going to chop this up just
- 19:23SPEAKER_1: as Senator Warnock did.
- 19:25SPEAKER_1: Pastor, that's a space that you're heavily involved in, that space of the unhoused.
- 19:31SPEAKER_1: And we know here in Indiana or right here in Indianapolis, that's a huge issue.
- 19:36SPEAKER_1: Speak to that and what the Senator said.
- 19:39SPEAKER_2: Yeah, that's a huge issue.
- 19:41SPEAKER_2: For those of you that believe in the power of prayer,
- 19:43SPEAKER_2: please pray with the Streets to Home initiative -- we were working with a camp,
- 19:48SPEAKER_2: hoping to get people housed, and the flood hit.
- 19:51SPEAKER_2: And we have people, about six of them now, that they can't even locate.
- 19:56SPEAKER_2: So we don't know what happened to them.
- 19:58SPEAKER_2: You know,
- 19:59SPEAKER_2: we can just hope and pray that they're somewhere and they're okay,
- 20:02SPEAKER_2: but we can't even find them to house.
- 20:04SPEAKER_2: So please lift that up in prayer.
- 20:08SPEAKER_2: And directly around this is,
- 20:11SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 20:12SPEAKER_2: the latest thing that happened is our NOFA --
- 20:14SPEAKER_2: our largest community financial instrument for the homeless -- is in flux.
- 20:21SPEAKER_2: It's in a lawsuit.
- 20:25SPEAKER_2: And so we don't know what's going to happen.
- 20:28SPEAKER_2: We were,
- 20:29SPEAKER_2: even with the process,
- 20:30SPEAKER_2: we were going to lose some money,
- 20:31SPEAKER_2: roughly $3 or $4 million, most likely for next year.
- 20:36SPEAKER_2: And we have some people that could be in jeopardy.
- 20:42SPEAKER_2: If this does not get resolved,
- 20:46SPEAKER_2: that are currently in permanent supportive housing
- 20:50SPEAKER_2: because they could lose their funding -- because what this money does is pays
- 20:53SPEAKER_2: for their rents.
- 20:54SPEAKER_2: And so if that money does not flow,
- 20:58SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 20:59SPEAKER_2: next year,
- 20:59SPEAKER_2: first part of next year,
- 21:00SPEAKER_2: that will be problematic because they will be homeless because they won't have
- 21:04SPEAKER_2: a method of paying it.
- 21:08SPEAKER_2: That homeless space is huge.
- 21:12SPEAKER_2: And these are direct decisions by Donald Trump because it's his administration
- 21:17SPEAKER_2: that said, hey, we want to do the NOFA this way.
- 21:21SPEAKER_2: And that's what the lawsuit's about.
- 21:22SPEAKER_2: Hey, you can't quite do that.
- 21:24SPEAKER_2: That's the radical shift.
- 21:25SPEAKER_2: And technically what they're arguing about is they didn't have
- 21:28SPEAKER_2: a comment period for people to weigh in.
- 21:31SPEAKER_2: It's supposed to be like 60 to 90 day comment period.
- 21:36SPEAKER_2: And the Trump administration is making some drastic changes.
- 21:39SPEAKER_2: The lawsuit said you didn't allow for comment, and we'll see how that works out.
- 21:46SPEAKER_2: What does that mean?
- 21:47SPEAKER_2: Do they do a comment period and delay stuff,
- 21:52SPEAKER_2: which would still mean that those people would run out of money,
- 21:56SPEAKER_2: and local cities would have to figure that out?
- 22:00SPEAKER_2: How far does this go?
- 22:02SPEAKER_2: Does it go to the Supreme Court that leans in Donald Trump's direction?
- 22:06SPEAKER_2: I mean, this thing has a lot of possibilities,
- 22:10SPEAKER_2: but I pledge to keep the community informed in how it works out because it could,
- 22:17SPEAKER_2: too,
- 22:17SPEAKER_2: have a huge impact on what we see in Indianapolis in terms of the homeless,
- 22:23SPEAKER_2: our homeless brothers and sisters.
- 22:28SPEAKER_1: Sister Denise
- 22:30SPEAKER_1: has put a couple of questions there in the chat, and I want to try to
- 22:36SPEAKER_1: ask you to answer some of those before we go to our break,
- 22:39SPEAKER_1: because it kind of goes along with this segment here of what Senator Warnock spoke
- 22:43SPEAKER_1: on.
- 22:44SPEAKER_1: The one question she's asked, how's the fair housing holding up?
- 22:47SPEAKER_1: And then she also asked, you know, are you getting outcry or outpouring call for help?
- 22:53SPEAKER_1: I think she's talking about in regards to the floods.
- 22:55SPEAKER_1: You've already mentioned that we have six individuals we're looking for.
- 22:59SPEAKER_1: Can you speak to any other,
- 23:01SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 23:01SPEAKER_1: calls or anything where,
- 23:02SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 23:03SPEAKER_1: people are looking for assistance?
- 23:09SPEAKER_2: I mean, I think there's just been a lot of concern.
- 23:13SPEAKER_2: We don't have members --
- 23:14SPEAKER_2: I think they were directly in the flood -- but it's much more.
- 23:18SPEAKER_2: They know people who were living in neighborhoods and areas that were impacted by the flood.
- 23:28SPEAKER_2: Yeah, I think I would leave it there at the moment.
- 23:32SPEAKER_2: Fair housing is...
- 23:35SPEAKER_2: It still exists today.
- 23:37SPEAKER_1: Interesting limbo.
- 23:38SPEAKER_2: But it all depends on the budget and things that, well, they're not in the budget.
- 23:42SPEAKER_2: That's the problem.
- 23:44SPEAKER_2: If they can get in a budget and survive -- I mean,
- 23:46SPEAKER_2: it doesn't look promising,
- 23:48SPEAKER_2: but you always hold out hope that something's going to break through
- 23:53SPEAKER_2: and they'll make it somehow, some way.
- 23:58SPEAKER_2: If Amy was on,
- 24:00SPEAKER_2: she probably could give you a more technical explanation of where they are,
- 24:04SPEAKER_2: but today, if you call, somebody's going to answer the phone.
- 24:10SPEAKER_2: But I would hate to be in her shoes because at the federal level, they're not listed.
- 24:17SPEAKER_2: So we'll see what's going to happen.
- 24:20SPEAKER_1: And let's keep in mind,
- 24:21SPEAKER_1: the question on the table on tonight is,
- 24:23SPEAKER_1: does our government really care about the people?
- 24:27SPEAKER_1: And entities such as fair housing here in central Indiana,
- 24:31SPEAKER_1: what they do is they help people.
- 24:33SPEAKER_1: What the government has done,
- 24:35SPEAKER_1: the government has strictly pulled funding from folks that help people.
- 24:41SPEAKER_1: That's across the board.
- 24:42SPEAKER_1: And they've also --
- 24:43SPEAKER_1: one of the great things that the Fair Housing Center does is they provide a lot
- 24:48SPEAKER_1: of data,
- 24:49SPEAKER_1: they do a lot of research, and they report on what they're hearing and finding.
- 24:55SPEAKER_1: You know,
- 24:56SPEAKER_1: Denise also asked about, okay, well,
- 24:58SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 24:59SPEAKER_1: in general with the economic crisis,
- 25:01SPEAKER_1: those are some things that,
- 25:02SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 25:03SPEAKER_1: when it comes to housing,
- 25:05SPEAKER_1: that Amy Nelson and the Fair Housing Center -- that they will provide data on.
- 25:11SPEAKER_1: Part of what the government's doing is they're saying, well, we don't want that data.
- 25:14SPEAKER_1: We don't want you providing those reports.
- 25:16SPEAKER_1: We don't want you helping people.
- 25:17SPEAKER_1: We don't want to provide the resources for that.
- 25:20SPEAKER_1: It goes back to our question,
- 25:23SPEAKER_1: does a government care about -- well, we got to go to our first break.
- 25:28SPEAKER_1: You got to go ahead, Pastor.
- 25:29SPEAKER_2: Let me add quickly -- to Denise saying in economics, yes,
- 25:33SPEAKER_2: there is an outpouring in terms of economic across the board
- 25:36SPEAKER_2: because gas prices are up.
- 25:38SPEAKER_2: AES is up.
- 25:41SPEAKER_2: You know, people are waking up to electric bills that jumped over 100 bucks.
- 25:46SPEAKER_2: So, yeah,
- 25:47SPEAKER_2: if you're talking about just economics,
- 25:49SPEAKER_2: Ms. Denise, yes, man, there's a large outcry, outpouring.
- 25:53SPEAKER_2: Those people are almost in shock,
- 25:56SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 25:57SPEAKER_2: in terms of the things they're having to deal with from a financial perspective.
- 26:01SPEAKER_1: All right, let's go to our first commercial break.
- 26:03SPEAKER_1: If you would like to be part of the conversation, once again, you can call in 317-480-1310.
- 26:10SPEAKER_1: That's the number to the studio.
- 26:12SPEAKER_1: Or you can also comment on our Facebook page,
- 26:15SPEAKER_1: the Concerned Clergy of Indianapolis.
- 26:17SPEAKER_1: Let's go to our break.
- 26:18SPEAKER_1: And when we come back,
- 26:19SPEAKER_1: we'll pick up some more of what Senator Warnock shared in the committee hearing.
- 26:23SPEAKER_1: You're listening to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show on Praise AM 1310,
- 26:27SPEAKER_1: 95.1 FM, Indy's Inspiration Station.
- 26:36SPEAKER_1: Welcome back to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show.
- 26:39SPEAKER_1: If you'd like to be part of the conversation,
- 26:41SPEAKER_1: you can call in, and that phone number is 317-480-1310.
- 26:46SPEAKER_1: Once again, 317-480-1310.
- 26:50SPEAKER_1: I want to say good evening to you as well, Sister Gloria.
- 26:53SPEAKER_1: Once again, that number is 317-480-1310.
- 26:56SPEAKER_1: We've been allowing Senator Warnock to walk us through the question that we have on
- 27:02SPEAKER_1: the table tonight,
- 27:03SPEAKER_1: and that question is, does our government really care about the people?
- 27:08SPEAKER_1: Senator Warnock has been using scripture,
- 27:10SPEAKER_1: Matthew chapter 25, to help us walk through the area of what the Holy Word says.
- 27:18SPEAKER_1: And it allows us an opportunity to really look at ourselves and ask,
- 27:22SPEAKER_1: are we adhering to that word?
- 27:23SPEAKER_1: Are we living a life that is demonstrating who we are in Christ?
- 27:29SPEAKER_1: Let's go back and hear a little bit more from Senator Warnock.
- 27:35SPEAKER_3: You looked after me.
- 27:37SPEAKER_3: What about the president's health care policies,
- 27:39SPEAKER_3: especially when it comes to health care affordability?
- 27:42SPEAKER_4: This is really an acute problem for families right now.
- 27:45SPEAKER_4: We've seen cuts to Medicaid that have taken insurance away from families.
- 27:49SPEAKER_4: We've seen the failure to extend the ACA premium tax credits that has jacked up
- 27:55SPEAKER_4: the cost of health insurance premiums for many American families.
- 27:58SPEAKER_4: We're also seeing increasing costs on employer-sponsored plans.
- 28:02SPEAKER_4: So people are really faced with the choice right now of being uninsured or choosing,
- 28:07SPEAKER_4: you know, kind of a skimpier health insurance plan in order to get coverage.
- 28:11SPEAKER_4: And at the same time.
- 28:12SPEAKER_3: The Trump administration and Washington Republicans cut one trillion dollars out of Medicaid.
- 28:17SPEAKER_3: They call it waste, fraud, and abuse.
- 28:20SPEAKER_3: Is it fair to say they cut more than waste, fraud, and abuse?
- 28:23SPEAKER_4: That is correct.
- 28:23SPEAKER_4: They cut care for American families.
- 28:29SPEAKER_1: Well, let's pause right there.
- 28:31SPEAKER_1: There's another area that we know that we're struggling with here right now,
- 28:36SPEAKER_1: and that's health care.
- 28:40SPEAKER_2: It's a terrible place.
- 28:43SPEAKER_2: I mean, I don't see that getting...
- 28:46SPEAKER_2: better?
- 28:46SPEAKER_2: I mean, you hope that when we come into the next session in 2027,
- 28:50SPEAKER_2: Reverend Alexander, that something's done.
- 28:53SPEAKER_2: I mean, because, well, actually, I was in a meeting today that is not very promising.
- 29:00SPEAKER_2: Medicare and all that is under attack.
- 29:03SPEAKER_2: They're not trying to add to it at all.
- 29:08SPEAKER_2: They're trying to base it merely on dollars and cents, even though we have a surplus.
- 29:13SPEAKER_2: We say we're not increasing that.
- 29:15SPEAKER_2: So it doesn't look promising at all.
- 29:17SPEAKER_2: We went through as a state huge cuts in that in 2025 and 2026.
- 29:24SPEAKER_2: It started and there's nothing in the forecast that says it's going to change in 2027.
- 29:31SPEAKER_2: It's very, very ugly at the moment.
- 29:36SPEAKER_1: Well, let's also remind folks that not too long ago,
- 29:41SPEAKER_1: we heard that a lot of funding was going to be removed from entities such as CICOA,
- 29:48SPEAKER_1: which provided a great service to our seniors,
- 29:54SPEAKER_1: to our disabled in so many areas,
- 29:57SPEAKER_1: whether it be meals,
- 30:00SPEAKER_1: whether it be,
- 30:00SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 30:01SPEAKER_1: helping,
- 30:01SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 30:02SPEAKER_1: build ramps and, you know, accessible structures for folks that don't have them.
- 30:10SPEAKER_1: Just providing education and things such as that.
- 30:14SPEAKER_1: A lot of that's going away also, Mr. President.
- 30:17SPEAKER_2: Yeah, I mean,
- 30:17SPEAKER_2: you know, I'm not even sure the CICOAs of the world will exist like the end of 2027.
- 30:23SPEAKER_2: I mean, they're doing fundraisers.
- 30:24SPEAKER_2: They're trying to hold on.
- 30:26SPEAKER_2: They certainly can't do the work that they used to do.
- 30:29SPEAKER_2: And they went through a huge staff reduction.
- 30:33SPEAKER_2: There's not near as many people in the organization as there used to be because of
- 30:38SPEAKER_2: the loss of funding.
- 30:40SPEAKER_2: And the organization is barely holding on to be in existence.
- 30:45SPEAKER_2: This is hard.
- 30:46SPEAKER_2: I mean, it's fair housing.
- 30:48SPEAKER_2: It's so much of the nonprofit world is suffering at the moment, literally.
- 30:57SPEAKER_1: That's what we're seeing.
- 30:58SPEAKER_1: Once again,
- 31:00SPEAKER_1: people or service providers,
- 31:05SPEAKER_1: entities that are helping people that are doing the work,
- 31:10SPEAKER_1: a lot of that's being removed.
- 31:13SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead.
- 31:13SPEAKER_1: We got to go to our last break of the hour.
- 31:15SPEAKER_1: We'll go ahead and do that right now.
- 31:16SPEAKER_1: Then we'll come back and we'll hear some more from Senator Warnock.
- 31:20SPEAKER_1: You're listening to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show on Praise AM 1310,
- 31:23SPEAKER_1: 95.1 FM, Indy's Inspiration Station.
- 31:30SPEAKER_1: Welcome back to the Concerned Clergy Radio Show.
- 31:32SPEAKER_1: And we've been walking down a Senate hearing in
- 31:36SPEAKER_1: which Reverend Senator Raphael Warnock has been walking down Scripture
- 31:42SPEAKER_1: and been sharing the importance of those that call ourselves Christians
- 31:48SPEAKER_1: and disciples of Christ if we're really living
- 31:52SPEAKER_1: that life that Christ would have us to live.
- 31:55SPEAKER_1: And we've been walking down Matthew 25 as Senator Warnock has been doing that for us.
- 32:01SPEAKER_1: And we were reminded the importance of voting by the Progressive Indiana Network.
- 32:06SPEAKER_1: Also during our break,
- 32:08SPEAKER_1: they shared on our Facebook feed that we need to be reminded that
- 32:13SPEAKER_1: the person that's poised to be the next Senate leader --
- 32:17SPEAKER_1: we really need to have all hands on deck to defeat, you know, that person.
- 32:23SPEAKER_1: So the importance of voting is definitely important.
- 32:27SPEAKER_1: And keep in mind,
- 32:28SPEAKER_1: we're getting closer and closer as early voting will begin that first week
- 32:32SPEAKER_1: of October there.
- 32:33SPEAKER_1: Let's go ahead and we're going to listen a little bit more to Senator Warnock.
- 32:37SPEAKER_1: But if you'd like to be part of the conversation, feel free to call in 317-480-1310.
- 32:45SPEAKER_3: Before I was a stranger,
- 32:46SPEAKER_3: the text says,
- 32:47SPEAKER_3: and you invited me in,
- 32:48SPEAKER_3: how has the Trump economy been for law-abiding immigrants and dreamers living in
- 32:54SPEAKER_3: the shadows?
- 32:55SPEAKER_4: We've seen a kind of xenophobic attack on our immigrant neighbors.
- 33:00SPEAKER_4: We're seeing families who are afraid because of the actions of ICE to go to work and
- 33:07SPEAKER_4: to send their families to school.
- 33:09SPEAKER_4: It's incredibly crushing both for those families and for their communities and those
- 33:14SPEAKER_4: of us who live among people.
- 33:16SPEAKER_4: And then we've also seen these attacks to try to take away benefits and programs
- 33:21SPEAKER_4: from law-abiding immigrants.
- 33:23SPEAKER_4: So it's hugely concerning.
- 33:24SPEAKER_3: So who's served by this economy?
- 33:26SPEAKER_3: That's a long range of people who seem to be suffering.
- 33:28SPEAKER_3: Who's served by the economy, the Trump economy?
- 33:31SPEAKER_4: I mean, it serves the rich, right?
- 33:33SPEAKER_4: It serves Donald Trump himself.
- 33:35SPEAKER_4: It serves his billionaire colleagues.
- 33:40SPEAKER_4: And it serves the banks who are represented here at this hearing who have gotten
- 33:44SPEAKER_4: the Trump administration to roll back protections for working families in order
- 33:49SPEAKER_4: to maintain their profits.
- 33:51SPEAKER_1: I'm a few seconds over.
- 33:53SPEAKER_1: All right,
- 33:53SPEAKER_1: let's go ahead and address,
- 33:54SPEAKER_1: because you kind of hit on a little bit earlier there, Mr.
- 33:56SPEAKER_1: President, how we're treating our migrants that have come here to the United States.
- 34:08SPEAKER_1: You're on mute, Mr. President.
- 34:11SPEAKER_2: Sorry about that.
- 34:12SPEAKER_2: Most of what we see now is, you know, you need to be male and white.
- 34:18SPEAKER_2: Anything else is almost under attack,
- 34:20SPEAKER_2: whether it's DEI going away, the MEI, immigrants, etc., then you don't fit in.
- 34:28SPEAKER_2: That's what's going on in our community.
- 34:30SPEAKER_2: I'm not sure women are that welcome, even if you're white.
- 34:34SPEAKER_2: You see a lot of...
- 34:38SPEAKER_2: We don't see one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
- 34:42SPEAKER_2: That ain't what you see here.
- 34:44SPEAKER_2: It's always trying to put your foot on the neck of people.
- 34:49SPEAKER_2: And then the rich people are benefiting from stock prices and playing games with
- 34:55SPEAKER_2: the stock by making certain announcements,
- 34:57SPEAKER_2: et cetera, while the average citizen is continuing to suffer.
- 35:02SPEAKER_2: And so there's an onslaught against
- 35:07SPEAKER_2: non-white males in this country,
- 35:11SPEAKER_2: which is, again, antithetical to the Bible.
- 35:17SPEAKER_2: We love one another.
- 35:19SPEAKER_2: It's just so antithetical to the Bible,
- 35:22SPEAKER_2: you know, that we don't see one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
- 35:29SPEAKER_2: We don't see that.
- 35:30SPEAKER_2: I mean, not that of this administration.
- 35:32SPEAKER_2: That's clearly not the makeup.
- 35:34SPEAKER_2: We don't do that.
- 35:36SPEAKER_2: And people like Lieutenant Governor Beckwith pretty much say it, you know.
- 35:42SPEAKER_2: So, I mean, then their actions demonstrate it.
- 35:45SPEAKER_2: But what you're seeing,
- 35:47SPEAKER_2: you know, federally at state level, et cetera, we're seeing it play out.
- 35:52SPEAKER_2: And right in, the only problem is some people can't believe it.
- 35:57SPEAKER_2: They're doing this in the wide open.
- 35:59SPEAKER_2: Yeah, they're doing this in the wide open.
- 36:00SPEAKER_2: They're seeing this in the open.
- 36:03SPEAKER_2: This is really, truly happening.
- 36:06SPEAKER_2: Because you want to say there's no way this is happening in America in 2026.
- 36:11SPEAKER_2: But in reality, it is happening in America.
- 36:14SPEAKER_2: In 2026.
- 36:16SPEAKER_2: And we will need people, the community, to say our country is better than that.
- 36:22SPEAKER_2: And that's not who we are.
- 36:23SPEAKER_2: That's not what we're based on.
- 36:25SPEAKER_2: And then for those who profess -- pretty much across all faiths --
- 36:31SPEAKER_2: it doesn't have to be Christian,
- 36:33SPEAKER_2: but when you're Muslim, Jews,
- 36:35SPEAKER_2: et cetera, everybody pretty much agrees that you are supposed to love one another.
- 36:39SPEAKER_2: We're supposed to treat our
- 36:44SPEAKER_2: strangers with love and respect.
- 36:46SPEAKER_2: There's nobody out here like in any of these faiths who said,
- 36:49SPEAKER_2: oh, yeah, man, we're so much better than them.
- 36:52SPEAKER_2: Let's step on their neck.
- 36:53SPEAKER_2: Let's just not mistreat the homeless.
- 36:55SPEAKER_2: That's not in anybody's faith.
- 36:57SPEAKER_2: They want to treat the homeless right.
- 36:58SPEAKER_2: They want to feed the poor.
- 37:00SPEAKER_2: They want to do those things.
- 37:01SPEAKER_2: That is fundamental amongst faith-based communities,
- 37:05SPEAKER_2: but it's not fundamental in our government now.
- 37:08SPEAKER_1: At least keep in mind --
- 37:11SPEAKER_1: Denise shared on our Facebook feed there that there was just a coach
- 37:17SPEAKER_1: for one of the minor league baseball teams there in San Diego
- 37:19SPEAKER_1: who was detained by ICE and they have him in custody.
- 37:27SPEAKER_1: So there's not where they're actually going after,
- 37:31SPEAKER_1: you know, what they said, the worst of the worst of criminals and all of that.
- 37:35SPEAKER_1: They are going, if you will, on low-hanging fruit.
- 37:38SPEAKER_1: And if there is no low-hanging fruit, oh, they'll find some fruit.
- 37:42SPEAKER_1: And what I mean by that,
- 37:44SPEAKER_1: when they got rid of TPS,
- 37:47SPEAKER_1: that just gave them a whole bunch of people that they could deport.
- 37:50SPEAKER_1: And once again,
- 37:51SPEAKER_1: the question on the table tonight is, does the U.S. government care about people?
- 37:56SPEAKER_1: Period.
- 37:56SPEAKER_1: The Bible don't say just care about Americans.
- 37:59SPEAKER_1: The Bible doesn't say that.
- 38:00SPEAKER_1: You know, we serve a God that is more than global.
- 38:04SPEAKER_1: You know, he is the heavens and the earth.
- 38:07SPEAKER_1: But here it is that when we look at the Temporary Protected Status that started in like 2010.
- 38:15SPEAKER_1: So you have a lot of folks that came over during the earthquakes in Haiti
- 38:22SPEAKER_1: when there was a lot of criminal activity in Haiti.
- 38:25SPEAKER_1: Haiti right now still hasn't been built up.
- 38:28SPEAKER_1: Now the gang activity is worse.
- 38:30SPEAKER_1: The criminal activity is worse.
- 38:33SPEAKER_1: So those folks really don't have anywhere to go.
- 38:35SPEAKER_1: A lot of those folks have been here 15 years.
- 38:39SPEAKER_1: So they have an established career,
- 38:44SPEAKER_1: family, housing, you know, so much that they have established themselves.
- 38:52SPEAKER_1: They're contributing as well to the economy.
- 38:56SPEAKER_1: They're contributing to communities.
- 39:00We've been -- we had communities such as in Ohio that actually -- they advertised,
- 39:06we've got jobs for you.
- 39:08SPEAKER_1: We need you.
- 39:09SPEAKER_1: Come on here and you can work here.
- 39:11SPEAKER_1: And they really set up a whole platform
- 39:13SPEAKER_1: for Haitians to come and get immediate work and establish themselves and be able
- 39:18SPEAKER_1: to get out of the conditions they were in.
- 39:21SPEAKER_1: But what the Trump administration did is they said, well,
- 39:23SPEAKER_1: it's only temporary, quote-unquote, and we're going to take it away in 30 days.
- 39:27SPEAKER_1: And now you have all those folks,
- 39:30SPEAKER_1: many who have over a decade of establishing themselves -- in like 30,
- 39:35SPEAKER_1: 60 days time frame.
- 39:37SPEAKER_1: Now they got to find out -- now they got to find a way.
- 39:41SPEAKER_1: Well, how am I going to uproot my family?
- 39:44SPEAKER_1: What about this mortgage I'm under?
- 39:45SPEAKER_1: Now I'm getting ready to lose my job because you're going to have employers
- 39:49SPEAKER_1: that are going to be smacked on the hand if you keep those folks employed.
- 39:55SPEAKER_1: So you got people being here over a decade,
- 39:57SPEAKER_1: decade and a half, and you give them a matter of days to just get out.
- 40:04SPEAKER_1: Question, does this government care about the people?
- 40:08SPEAKER_1: I hear Guy on the line.
- 40:10SPEAKER_1: Guy, you got an answer for that?
- 40:14SPEAKER_5: Good evening.
- 40:15SPEAKER_5: Good evening.
- 40:17SPEAKER_5: That's an excellent question.
- 40:18SPEAKER_5: And I think you have to look at the answer to that question because the government
- 40:24SPEAKER_5: in the United States is supposedly a government of and formed by the people.
- 40:30SPEAKER_5: So unfortunately, you have people that feel that some people...
- 40:37SPEAKER_5: There's a book you might have heard of in terms of...
- 40:47SPEAKER_5: The farm animals, there were different farm animals, and everybody was supposed to be equal.
- 40:54SPEAKER_5: And then there was one group of animals that thought they should be more equal.
- 40:59SPEAKER_5: That's kind of where we are, I think, in this country.
- 41:02SPEAKER_5: We have some other human beings in this country who think they should be more equal than others.
- 41:08SPEAKER_5: So in answer to your question,
- 41:13SPEAKER_5: the government is composed of people,
- 41:16SPEAKER_5: and then you've got people that feel one way or the other.
- 41:20SPEAKER_5: And unfortunately,
- 41:21SPEAKER_5: you have a situation right now where this group of people that thinks
- 41:27SPEAKER_5: that they should be the people that are more equal,
- 41:31SPEAKER_5: they're losing in terms of their numbers.
- 41:34SPEAKER_5: And it's kind of a numbers game.
- 41:37SPEAKER_5: And when you have employers that are looking for people to do their work,
- 41:42SPEAKER_5: and that's the problem.
- 41:44SPEAKER_5: I think we're at a point now where we have to deal with remedies to the situation.
- 41:50SPEAKER_5: And we got the governor of Ohio,
- 41:53SPEAKER_5: Mike DeWine, who is kind of trying to counteract the Trump administration.
- 42:01SPEAKER_5: And he's saying that you should keep those immigrants,
- 42:04SPEAKER_5: those Haitians that have been established.
- 42:07SPEAKER_5: You need to keep them rather than deport them because it's a numbers game.
- 42:12SPEAKER_5: When you don't have the numbers,
- 42:14SPEAKER_5: you don't have enough people to finance the Social Security system, for instance.
- 42:20SPEAKER_5: So you have to look at the big picture.
- 42:22SPEAKER_5: I think Governor DeWine is looking at the picture,
- 42:24SPEAKER_5: and I think we need to support Governor DeWine and his stance as one remedy.
- 42:32SPEAKER_5: And then the other remedy,
- 42:33SPEAKER_5: I think we need to make sure in the upcoming general election on November 3rd
- 42:38SPEAKER_5: that we vote.
- 42:41SPEAKER_5: To get rid of the negative, the folks that feel they should be more equal than others.
- 42:47SPEAKER_1: Okay.
- 42:47SPEAKER_1: All right.
- 42:48SPEAKER_1: Thank you so much for your phone call and your comment.
- 42:51SPEAKER_1: And Sister Denise also put in the chat there,
- 42:54SPEAKER_1: kind of coinciding with what Guy just mentioned there, Mr.
- 42:57SPEAKER_1: President,
- 42:58SPEAKER_1: about the healthcare industry and how we had a lot of Haitians
- 43:02SPEAKER_1: that were healthcare workers.
- 43:04SPEAKER_1: And now, once again, folks that were helping folks -- we're getting rid of them.
- 43:11SPEAKER_1: So, you know, Guy talking about, you know, finding a solution.
- 43:15SPEAKER_1: Well, we done created a whole lot of problems, Mr. President.
- 43:19SPEAKER_2: Yeah, we created a number of them.
- 43:21SPEAKER_2: And I'm not sure somebody's thought through who's going to do that work.
- 43:26SPEAKER_2: So I certainly support the governor in Ohio because that business owner knows.
- 43:32SPEAKER_2: Why do you think he got Haitians?
- 43:34SPEAKER_2: He wasn't able to get people to work.
- 43:35SPEAKER_1: Exactly.
- 43:36SPEAKER_1: Exactly.
- 43:38SPEAKER_2: So you think he wants to get rid of the people who was holding this business together?
- 43:42SPEAKER_2: So that's part of the challenge.
- 43:47SPEAKER_2: And so if you have people who are obeying the law that are here,
- 43:51SPEAKER_2: that are being positive contributors,
- 43:53SPEAKER_2: paying taxes, et cetera, the more logical thing is we need to keep those people.
- 44:00SPEAKER_2: We have to own that.
- 44:01SPEAKER_2: There are people,
- 44:01SPEAKER_2: I agree with Guy,
- 44:03SPEAKER_2: think they're better than everybody else, and they see minorities as a threat.
- 44:07SPEAKER_2: They see the minority pool across the board growing,
- 44:11SPEAKER_2: and they see that as a threat,
- 44:12SPEAKER_2: and their way of dealing with it is, we ain't letting them be like us.
- 44:20SPEAKER_2: And that comes all the way down to voting.
- 44:22SPEAKER_2: Their preference is, who do you think they're trying to screen out?
- 44:26SPEAKER_2: They ain't trying to screen out the white male from voting.
- 44:29SPEAKER_2: When you go to all the shenanigans around it, it's everybody else.
- 44:34SPEAKER_2: So that's what's going on.
- 44:37SPEAKER_2: And, you know,
- 44:38SPEAKER_2: when you say that bluntly,
- 44:40SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 44:40SPEAKER_2: some people get scared and intimidated by that and call you a communist or whatever,
- 44:45SPEAKER_2: when in reality you're just quoting the facts as we see them.
- 44:49SPEAKER_2: And when you look at that, say, here's what's going on.
- 44:53SPEAKER_1: And as Sister Denise mentioned,
- 44:55SPEAKER_1: for a lot of the --
- 44:59SPEAKER_1: not just baby boomers,
- 45:00SPEAKER_1: but even the Gen X,
- 45:02SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 45:03SPEAKER_1: Gen Z, Gen Y, I mean, all of them are going to need health care at some point.
- 45:07SPEAKER_1: And that system is pretty much falling apart.
- 45:12SPEAKER_1: Let's finish listening to Senator Warnock's comments.
- 45:17SPEAKER_3: So I'm going to bring this to closure, Brother Chair.
- 45:21SPEAKER_3: But Donald Trump has been president for 18 months.
- 45:24SPEAKER_3: And while he and his advisors love to blame Joe Biden,
- 45:28SPEAKER_3: Joe Biden, Joe Biden for rising costs, Americans elected him to lower costs.
- 45:33SPEAKER_3: He's been at it for 18 months.
- 45:35SPEAKER_3: He's raised costs for everybody,
- 45:37SPEAKER_3: shredded the safety net meant to catch people during tough times.
- 45:40SPEAKER_3: This Trump economy isn't just bad.
- 45:43SPEAKER_3: For me, it's a moral abomination.
- 45:46SPEAKER_3: This is bigger than politics.
- 45:48SPEAKER_3: It's about humanity.
- 45:49SPEAKER_3: Thank you so much for your testimony.
- 45:52SPEAKER_1: He finished with a great word there, Mr. President.
- 45:56SPEAKER_2: Well, morality.
- 45:57SPEAKER_2: I mean, I ran on that.
- 45:58SPEAKER_2: I mean, the budget is a moral document, my opinion.
- 46:04SPEAKER_2: And so, you know, if we're concerned about people, we'll have different decision making.
- 46:10SPEAKER_2: What we are seeing,
- 46:12SPEAKER_2: as Senator Warnock pointed out,
- 46:14SPEAKER_2: is that the government's committed to not people, just money.
- 46:18SPEAKER_2: And how certain people are going to make money.
- 46:20SPEAKER_2: A certain number of people.
- 46:22SPEAKER_2: And it's not for, you know, some of the rest of us.
- 46:26SPEAKER_2: Most of the rest of us.
- 46:29SPEAKER_1: I want to bring it back as we close our program on tonight.
- 46:34SPEAKER_1: I really appreciate the way, you know, Senator Warnock kind of, you know, broke it down.
- 46:39SPEAKER_1: Here's, you know, where we really are.
- 46:41SPEAKER_1: And asking Dr. Morgan, where are we?
- 46:44SPEAKER_1: What do the facts say?
- 46:47SPEAKER_1: When you look at the facts and how they coincide with Matthew 25, he did a great job of that.
- 46:54SPEAKER_1: In our chat here, Denise mentioned that a lot of white women overwhelmingly voted for Trump.
- 47:00SPEAKER_1: So as we bring this back to voting,
- 47:04SPEAKER_1: I want us to,
- 47:06SPEAKER_1: even on that point that Ms.
- 47:08SPEAKER_1: Denise just shared,
- 47:10SPEAKER_1: a lot of,
- 47:11SPEAKER_1: and I think you mentioned this as well,
- 47:12SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, a lot of women, Black and white,
- 47:21SPEAKER_1: there's a very good possibility that if this big,
- 47:24SPEAKER_1: beautiful bill,
- 47:25SPEAKER_1: if you will, goes through, that they're going to lose their right to vote as well.
- 47:31SPEAKER_1: They're going to have to come up with all kinds of identification.
- 47:35SPEAKER_1: If you've been married,
- 47:36SPEAKER_1: divorced,
- 47:39SPEAKER_1: any of that, there is a strong likelihood that you won't even be able to vote.
- 47:45SPEAKER_1: So when we're looking at,
- 47:46SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 47:46SPEAKER_1: who is this affecting,
- 47:48SPEAKER_1: when we ask ourselves, does the government care for the people?
- 47:52SPEAKER_1: You've mentioned several times tonight that it looks like they only care for white men.
- 47:57SPEAKER_1: And I think it's important that women understand as well.
- 48:00SPEAKER_1: Hey, you're getting hit with the same bullets that African Americans are getting hit
- 48:05SPEAKER_1: with,
- 48:07SPEAKER_1: that transgender,
- 48:09SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 48:10SPEAKER_1: whatever it is,
- 48:11SPEAKER_1: Muslims,
- 48:12SPEAKER_1: you're getting hit with the same bullets that the rest of us are being hit with.
- 48:16SPEAKER_1: And we need to be able to come together and get back to that voting piece.
- 48:22SPEAKER_1: If you're not registered to vote, or matter of fact, even if you think you are, check it out.
- 48:29SPEAKER_1: Go to the Indiana Voter Portal.
- 48:31SPEAKER_1: Make sure that you're still on the rolls because while we're talking about voting,
- 48:37SPEAKER_1: don't forget the state of Indiana has already given all of the voter information to
- 48:42SPEAKER_1: the federal government.
- 48:43SPEAKER_1: They're combing through it.
- 48:45SPEAKER_1: There's no telling what they've done with it.
- 48:48SPEAKER_1: We need to be wise to that, Mr. President.
- 48:51SPEAKER_2: Well, yeah, I mean,
- 48:52SPEAKER_2: I think that -- even to narrow it down even more --
- 48:57SPEAKER_2: if you're not in the rich category,
- 49:03SPEAKER_2: you're on the menu with the rest of us.
- 49:05SPEAKER_2: You ain't got money or access to a lot of money.
- 49:10SPEAKER_2: The system ain't set up for you either.
- 49:12SPEAKER_2: We might utilize some of the people for election purposes to win,
- 49:17SPEAKER_2: but the system is designed for the rich to get richer.
- 49:21SPEAKER_2: To create a greater divide between the haves and the have-nots.
- 49:25SPEAKER_2: And that's what we are saying.
- 49:28SPEAKER_2: And that's not biblical to do that.
- 49:31SPEAKER_2: But that's where we are as a country.
- 49:34SPEAKER_2: And so when anybody that's like,
- 49:36SPEAKER_2: you know, unless you're independently wealthy, you're going to be struggling.
- 49:43SPEAKER_1: Sister Denise also mentioned there, you know, clean energy cuts, education cuts.
- 49:47SPEAKER_1: And we had Progressive Indiana Network,
- 49:50SPEAKER_1: you know, talk about the SAVE Act and how that has been dismantled now.
- 49:55SPEAKER_1: So we have so many areas that we have to fight for.
- 50:00SPEAKER_1: And we really need to do it now because I think there's a high likelihood
- 50:07SPEAKER_1: where we're talking about voting that,
- 50:09SPEAKER_1: you know, the president is going to try to do something to disrupt.
- 50:13SPEAKER_1: This midterm, this year, he's already tried it.
- 50:17SPEAKER_1: He's already trying to get your postmaster,
- 50:22SPEAKER_1: trying to get the U.S.
- 50:23SPEAKER_1: Post Office to be in control of your mail by combing through your mail,
- 50:27SPEAKER_1: checking to see if you've got an absentee ballot or a mail-in ballot and pulling
- 50:32SPEAKER_1: that.
- 50:33SPEAKER_1: That's what they're doing.
- 50:35SPEAKER_1: They are putting on the table -- they want the person that's delivering your mail
- 50:42SPEAKER_1: to comb through your mail.
- 50:44SPEAKER_1: And pull out certain pieces of mail.
- 50:46SPEAKER_1: If they're going to pull out your absentee ballot,
- 50:46SPEAKER_1: your mail-in ballot, what else might they pull out?
- 50:50SPEAKER_1: That's why we need to vote.
- 50:52SPEAKER_2: Well, those things are clearly going to happen.
- 50:54SPEAKER_2: I mean, in my opinion, he's going to try some stuff in '27, getting ready for '28.
- 51:01SPEAKER_2: He ain't going to wait and show all his cards in '28.
- 51:04SPEAKER_2: He's going to show some of them in '27.
- 51:06SPEAKER_2: So if he can get away with something in '27, that just means you're going to see it in 2028.
- 51:12SPEAKER_2: And so we need to be,
- 51:15SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 51:15SPEAKER_2: on point and be committed to have a voting plan,
- 51:18SPEAKER_2: regardless of what it's going to be like,
- 51:20SPEAKER_2: because you could be going and seeing guards there, you know, ICE agents at places.
- 51:27SPEAKER_2: I mean, anywhere he can deter it.
- 51:29SPEAKER_2: Obviously,
- 51:30SPEAKER_2: ICE agents won't be in the rural area per se,
- 51:32SPEAKER_2: but they'll be where they think a high percentage of,
- 51:36SPEAKER_2: you know,
- 51:36SPEAKER_2: what they would deem Latinos or other people would be voting to discourage that.
- 51:44SPEAKER_2: He's going to be strategic.
- 51:47SPEAKER_2: There will be shenanigans in this election.
- 51:51SPEAKER_1: Coming up.
- 51:52SPEAKER_2: Ain't no doubt about that.
- 51:53SPEAKER_2: We ain't going to avoid it.
- 51:54SPEAKER_2: It'll be in 2028 as well.
- 51:56SPEAKER_2: Because obviously he's going to try to seek another term.
- 52:00SPEAKER_1: Well, I certainly believe, Mr.
- 52:01SPEAKER_1: President, that there's going to be, I'll say, a heightened effort for this midterm.
- 52:10SPEAKER_1: I don't think it's going to wait for '27, '28.
- 52:13SPEAKER_1: The reason is because he doesn't want to risk losing the Senate,
- 52:18SPEAKER_1: the House,
- 52:19SPEAKER_1: because of the fact that then if Democrats are in leadership,
- 52:24SPEAKER_1: then they'll be able to actually go after him,
- 52:28SPEAKER_1: not just impeachment,
- 52:29SPEAKER_1: but just,
- 52:30SPEAKER_1: you know,
- 52:30SPEAKER_1: find out, okay,
- 52:32SPEAKER_1: here are the records and be able to be in charge of committees
- 52:36SPEAKER_1: where they'll have access to some of that information.
- 52:40SPEAKER_1: And then Sister Denise also mentioned there,
- 52:42SPEAKER_1: Mr. President, that we got to do the souls to the polls.
- 52:45SPEAKER_1: That's something we have to be getting charged up right now and be ready for that.
- 52:51SPEAKER_1: We test it out in the primary, but we got to make sure that we do a better job in November.
- 52:57SPEAKER_2: Yep.
- 52:58SPEAKER_2: It has to happen.
- 53:00SPEAKER_1: All right.
- 53:01SPEAKER_1: That's the end of our program on tonight.
- 53:03SPEAKER_1: We thank all of our listeners and those that contributed either by Facebook as well
- 53:09SPEAKER_1: as calling in.
- 53:10SPEAKER_1: This is important.
- 53:12SPEAKER_1: Once again, we had an opportunity for Senator Warnock to lead us on tonight.
- 53:19SPEAKER_1: And we appreciate how he shared in the committee and we appreciate the work
- 53:22SPEAKER_1: that he's doing there in the Senate.
- 53:24SPEAKER_1: Well, everyone, thank you for joining us on tonight.
- 53:28SPEAKER_1: But that's the end of our program.
- 53:30SPEAKER_1: So we hope to see you next week.
- 53:32SPEAKER_1: Be blessed.
