- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning, Mafia! It's Wednesday, October 21st. This is the
- 0:11Speaker 1: Morning Charge, your daily 10-minute or less Buffalo Bills news hit.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm Aaron Quinn, here with Colin Ritchie, bringing you everything
- 0:18Speaker 1: you need to know before you start your day. Let's
- 0:21Speaker 1: get right into it. Mark your calendars. The 2026 NFL
- 0:27Speaker 1: trade deadline is set for Tuesday, November 10th at 4 p.m. Eastern. Remember,
- 0:32Speaker 1: in 2024, the NFL approved pushing back the deadline to
- 0:35Speaker 1: Tuesday after Week 9. The extra week gives front offices
- 0:39Speaker 1: across the league, and specifically Brandon Bean, one more real
- 0:42Speaker 1: game of evaluation to decide if they're buyers, sellers, or
- 0:45Speaker 1: they're going to stay in Pat. Now, if you feel
- 0:49Speaker 1: like the NFL trade deadline has gotten crazy over the
- 0:51Speaker 1: last few years, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you.
- 0:54Speaker 1: The midseason market in the NFL used to be completely dead.
- 0:57Speaker 1: A decade ago, you'd maybe see two to three moves league-wide.
- 1:01Speaker 1: That has completely flipped. Last year set a modern record
- 1:04Speaker 1: with 22. 12 players changed teams on deadline date alone.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Expect a rumor mill to heat up over the next
- 1:11Speaker 1: three weeks and a peak in the final days. Here's
- 1:15Speaker 1: the timing that you need to keep an eye on.
- 1:17Speaker 1: About 30% of trades happen over the next two weeks
- 1:19Speaker 1: during the pre-deadline buildup, as contenders try to get in
- 1:23Speaker 1: early and get players to learn their playbooks. But 40%
- 1:27Speaker 1: of all in-season moves happened in the final 72-hour window
- 1:30Speaker 1: leading up to Tuesday at 4 p.m. That's when the
- 1:32Speaker 1: leverage spikes, prices settle, and sellers finally pull the trigger
- 1:36Speaker 1: on deals. So where do the bills fit in all this?
- 1:40Speaker 1: Can Brandon Beaton actually afford to make a move? The
- 1:43Speaker 1: short answer is yes, absolutely. Right now, SpotTrack has the
- 1:47Speaker 1: bills at $ 4. 5 million of active salary cap. Now, you
- 1:51Speaker 1: might hear $ 4. 5 million and think, that's not enough to
- 1:53Speaker 1: do much. but remember how the trade deadline actually works.
- 1:57Speaker 1: In season, you get pro rating. When you trade for
- 2:00Speaker 1: a player in week 9, you inherit the remaining base
- 2:02Speaker 1: salary for the rest of the season, roughly 50% of
- 2:05Speaker 1: their full contract. That means, with $ 4. 5 million in room today,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the Bills can absorb a player with about $ 9 million
- 2:12Speaker 1: in salary for his base salary without making a single
- 2:15Speaker 1: roster move or contract tweak. Cap room is only half
- 2:19Speaker 1: the equation. You also need some draft currency to make
- 2:21Speaker 1: this trade. The Bills have all their original picks from
- 2:25Speaker 1: rounds 1-7 this year. Midseason trades rarely cost a first
- 2:29Speaker 1: round pick anymore, unless you're acquiring an elite star with
- 2:32Speaker 1: multiple years of team control. Most deadline deals get done
- 2:35Speaker 1: on day 3 sweet spot, 4-6 rounders, where Bean has
- 2:39Speaker 1: plenty of ammunition to add defensive help without gutting the
- 2:42Speaker 1: future drafts.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Injury Update We won't see an injury report from the
- 2:49Speaker 2: Bills for some time, but the team has two weeks
- 2:53Speaker 2: to get healthy for their Week 8 matchup against the Ravens.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Here are some injuries to monitor going into the bye week.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Rookie defensive tackle Zane Durant is currently eligible to return
- 3:04Speaker 2: from IR after being placed on injured reserve as part
- 3:08Speaker 2: of the team's roster cuts back on August 30th. He
- 3:11Speaker 2: was seen working off to the side with an athletic
- 3:13Speaker 2: trainer last week as he begins his return from a
- 3:16Speaker 2: neck injury. DB Jordan Hancock is also eligible to return
- 3:21Speaker 2: from IR after missing four games due to a hamstring injury.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Wide receiver DJ Moore has been battling a shoulder injury
- 3:28Speaker 2: since Week 2, but practiced in a limited fashion last Friday.
- 3:33Speaker 2: He was questionable to play against the Raiders, but ultimately
- 3:35Speaker 2: sat out, making it much more likely he will make
- 3:38Speaker 2: his return after the bye. Defensive tackle Ed Oliver followed
- 3:42Speaker 2: the same pattern as Moore, listed as a DNP on
- 3:45Speaker 2: Wednesday and Thursday's practices, but practiced in a limited fashion
- 3:49Speaker 2: on Friday and was questionable for Sunday's game. Like Moore,
- 3:54Speaker 2: Oliver sat out as well, but it could be a
- 3:56Speaker 2: good sign that he's closer to returning from his knee
- 3:59Speaker 2: injury that's kept him sidelined the last two weeks. Dee Alford,
- 4:03Speaker 2: Joshua Palmer, and TJ Sanders were also all questionable for
- 4:07Speaker 2: Sunday's game against the Raiders, but were active and did play,
- 4:12Speaker 2: meaning they should be in the clear barring any setbacks
- 4:14Speaker 2: during the bye. Bradley Chubb and Dalton Kincaid were both
- 4:19Speaker 2: questionable to return with rib injuries on Sunday, but both
- 4:23Speaker 2: did return. Still, it wouldn't be a surprise to see
- 4:26Speaker 2: either of them on the injury report next week. Week
- 4:31Speaker 2: 7 Preview While the Bills don't play in Week 7,
- 4:34Speaker 2: there are still a handful of games to keep an
- 4:36Speaker 2: eye on next weekend. Thursday Night Football is one of
- 4:40Speaker 2: those games, as the New England Patriots take on the
- 4:42Speaker 2: Chicago Bears at 8-15. The Patriots are only half a
- 4:46Speaker 2: game back on Buffalo with their 4-2 record and head-to-head
- 4:49Speaker 2: win over the Bills. Then on Sunday, the 4-2 Steelers
- 4:54Speaker 2: play at 9.30 a.m. in France against the New Orleans Saints.
- 4:59Speaker 2: In the 1 o'clock window, an AFC East matchup between
- 5:02Speaker 2: the winless Dolphins and 2-4 Jets rounds out Buffalo's division.
- 5:07Speaker 2: The matchup of the afternoon, though, probably comes in the
- 5:09Speaker 2: AFC North when the 4-2 Ravens host the 3-2 Bengals.
- 5:14Speaker 2: The Cleveland Browns also search for their fifth win of
- 5:17Speaker 2: the season against the 1-5 Titans. The 2-4 Colts have
- 5:21Speaker 2: a tough draw against the undefeated 5-0 Vikings. After starting
- 5:25Speaker 2: the year 0-4, the Texans have won two in a
- 5:27Speaker 2: row and look to continue their win streak against the
- 5:30Speaker 2: 3-2-1 Giants. In the late window, the 4-2 Broncos will
- 5:34Speaker 2: look for their fifth win against the 2-4 Cardinals, while
- 5:38Speaker 2: the 3-3 Raiders look to bounce back from their loss
- 5:40Speaker 2: to the Bills with a tilt against the struggling 2-4 Rams.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Then on Sunday Night Football, the undefeated Chiefs will try
- 5:48Speaker 2: to stay perfect against the 3-3 Seahawks.
- 5:53Speaker 1: As you know, the Bills are officially on their bye
- 5:55Speaker 1: right now, so just like the team taking time to
- 5:58Speaker 1: recharge and recalibrate, we're going to take a brief maintenance
- 6:01Speaker 1: break on the show over the next few days. We'll
- 6:03Speaker 1: be holding off on our regular daily episode drops for
- 6:06Speaker 1: the rest of the week, unless major breaking news happens,
- 6:09Speaker 1: in which case we'll drop our show just as we
- 6:12Speaker 1: always do. Otherwise, our show schedule will pick up right
- 6:15Speaker 1: where we left off next week when player press conferences
- 6:18Speaker 1: start to resume as the Bills prepare to play Baltimore
- 6:21Speaker 1: every single morning. We want to build this into the
- 6:24Speaker 1: absolute best quick hit Bill show out there, and your
- 6:26Speaker 1: feedback is a huge part of that. So while we're
- 6:29Speaker 1: on break, drop your thoughts in the YouTube comments or

- 6:33Speaker 1: segments you're loving, what you want to see more of,
