  [rock music plays] So good.
• 0:20
But you can't meow. Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow. It's got no meow. It does not have a meow to it. Thanks a maker- I'm not saying you can't meow... nothing. It, it does not meow well.
• 0:30
It doesn't meow like the other one does. It does not meow like the other one. Oh, thank, thank God. That said, do you know how many comments we got on the last one being good? Zero. [laughs] Right.
• 0:38
You know how many we got on this one so far? One. Two. Two. Two. Oh, it's so much better than the old one. That's 200% one. Who are those people? I thought the old one fit the whole concept. I liked it.
• 0:47
I liked the, I like the old one. It got the vibe going. Yeah. It did. [coughs] This just gives this dark metal feel to it, which I also love. It's a little more brutal. It is. I like it. Did I...
• 0:58
You have, have you listened to the show recently? Oh, by the way, uh, we're, there's people here today. It's, uh, it's Tony, Devon- We haven't even started the show number yet. Tony's here. Oh yeah, it's show number 261.
• 1:07
Why don't you just run the show then? Because [laughs] I do a lot of it. Yeah. Did you push the button? I did. That's my first question. Yeah, I- Okay, you got the button pushed. I got the button.
• 1:13
That means we're rolling. Then we're covered. I'm good. Uh, show number 261 here. Full spectrum cycling.
• 1:18
That's to- we've been talking earlier, so it's kind of like we're, we are just keeping- You're joining us mid-conversation is what it is. Tony's got the Von Munns fan club.
• 1:26
JK has his new I'm a loner daddy- I'm a rebel... a rebel shirt. Peewee. That's a good one. [coughs] I'm Sven, and, uh- That's good... and joining me on the left here is Sam D. Sam D. Mm-hmm. Perfect timing.
• 1:39
We got the introductions out of the way and the music stopped. Excellent. Somebody found a chair. Everybody finds chairs, right? [coughs] Everybody's got a chair that wants a chair. Tony's standing up this week.
• 1:48
Chairs are nice. What's going on over there? He got caught in the rain like I did. Oh. I'm- I'm just, I don't want to soak my buddy- Me- On that- Yeah... nice vinyl chair. I got stuck in some serious rain tonight.
• 1:59
I sat down on a dry pic- bench and I left a buttocks- Nice... [laughs] imprint, and I was like, "Oh, sorry."
• 2:08
So I, I'm gonna mention it one more time at least, just because I don't know if Sam hasn't listened to a show, that theme music was an AI thing- Ah... that I fed a bunch of prompts to- Oh...
• 2:18
and refined over several iterations, and it, that's what it came up with. You wrote... You made it. Sort of. I made it. [laughs] I didn't write it, but I kind of made it. AI made it, but he invented it.
• 2:27
Yeah, I, I, I- And Hal. Yeah, you- You and Hal and Skynet. I guess I invented it. I, I came up with the right prompts to make the noises that I wanted to hear. And, and Bishop. I like it. It's good.
• 2:36
Bishop from the Alien universe. I gotta, I gotta do a bunch of other ones now. I need some calypso stuff. I need some, you know, I just, I need different- Yeah... roots Get some dancehall reggae on there.
• 2:44
Need some AI steel drum. Come on. Some of your own vocals. [singing] You know, you might have some good old songs.
• 2:50
[singing] Yeah, you could, you can write lyrics, put it to it, and it will help you do that too if you really want to. Weird. It's called Udio. U- D-I-O? Yep. Okay. Speaking of Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu-Gi-Oh! Yu-Gi-Oh!
• 3:03
[laughs] Uh, it was Naruto's the guy that does the thing. Oh, it is Naru- yeah, okay. So you checked with your son for that? I've got a GIF now for that. Oh. Yeah. But you had to consult with your son, right?
• 3:15
I had to just look it up because- Oh... I knew who he was, I just couldn't remember his name. There may be an animated GIF. In your future, everybody. Anybody that calls it a GIF is gonna get smacked. GIF. GIF. GIF.
• 3:27
It's not a GIF, it's a GIF. G-I-F, GIF. Graphical. G- graphical interchange format. It's GIF. There, and there's your- Not GIF... 30 seconds of- And memes... IT bullshit, people. Hey- And memes...
• 3:40
call it what it is or don't say it at all. Did you see the meme? Did you see this great funny political internet meme meme? No, no memes. No meme? I didn't.
• 3:50
[laughs] No, I've heard people, like, sit there and try to explain to me- Instead of a meme? Yes. It's a meme? It's a meme. Yes. Oh, Jesus. It's just like... Oh, shit.
• 3:59
No, it's just you watch somebody flounder- And when you-... and it's fun. [laughs] When you mention Naruto- You watch them go like-... this is what you get into... I'm not gonna be the guy that calls you out.
• 4:06
I'm just gonna wait for the guy that calls you out and laugh at, when he calls you out. At what a jamoke you are for calling it a meme. [laughs] Oh, God. Read the room, man.
• 4:14
You gotta- Gotta be a lot of memes after this week, but we're not gonna go into that today. No. No. And no. Uh- My document just, uh, refreshed, so I'm on pace now. Oh, good. Good, good, good. I was filling in the time.
• 4:26
Uh, first off the bat, Sam's here again. Yep. That's, it'll maybe- Se- second off the bat, Corey is gonna be back on the show- 16th... on the 16th. Yep, yep.
• 4:36
I thought that would be a better than being on the day before the event starts. Makes sense. In case there's anything that people really need to know before the 24 starts, Corey Bauman, July- Oh... 16th.
• 4:47
I know what you need to know about the River West 24. But he'll know more. Should be doing it. That guy's using X-Ray. [laughs] Man, I'm going to fucking see that guy, shoot. Instead. I'm gonna go to that first.
• 5:00
Well, during. I'm gonna- During... I'm gonna go to the start finish. I'm gonna watch it start finish. Then I'm gonna get probably in a car, drive to X-Ray to see Daikaiju- Uh, a lot of the bands-... then come back...
• 5:11
are gonna be, the opening band, a lot of the opening bands. Nasdell's, uh, I think Robo- It's gonna be a good show... Robo Man. It's like four openers. Huh. So they're- They're, they're probably not gonna hit the...
• 5:23
Well, they do have a curfew there. They have to be done by 11:00. Right, they have to be done by 11:00. Yeah. So they'll go on at 10:00. Kind of forget about that. Yep. This thing starts at- They'll go on at 10:00.
• 5:30
I've changed all my thoughts on, like, Garibaldi and, like, other venue timelines- So, yeah... orders. Yeah. Yeah. I'm excited about Daikaiju. Hey, I don't give a fuck.
• 5:39
And I learned today that Bongzilla's gonna be at, uh- He is... Club Garibaldi. Yes, yes, he is. Oh. Actually, I know those guys. [laughs] I've known them for, since the '90s. Sweet. Yeah.
• 5:48
Would you describe them as a Sleep-esque band? Or- Yes. Yeah. Yes. Exactly. Definitely. Very, very much so. Similar to- And they have a very-... to the opening of this show... a very awesome Wisconsin connection vibe.
• 6:01
And they were doing it well before Sleep. Oh, yeah. Was it a band? They've been around since the '90s, haven't they? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They were on, um- Trying to think.
• 6:10
One of those, uh, there's just, one of those metal labels that's been around forever. I cannot think of it right now, 'cause I'm just drawing a blank. How's your, uh, record label thing going?
• 6:20
Are you doing anything these days? [laughs] Oh, God, no.
• 6:23
Yeah, I was almost gonna re- reboot it, but, uh- There was some interest in- COVID happened right around then, and I just kinda got away from the mindset unfortunately. Yeah. COVID kinda did that to a lot of people.
• 6:33
Yeah, right? Right. Yeah, it sure did. I got the Omnium Electric MiniMax video done finally. If anybody's interested in checking that out, it's on the YouTube. Definitely check that out. Please. Put a show note link.
• 6:47
Yeah, there's a link in the show notes. I'll actually embed it in there so you can just- So you don't have a choice. So you could just- No. [laughs]... click on it and watch it. [laughs] I don't know.
• 6:57
I thought it turned out okay. I don't know how much people are into, like, opening the box up and everything. Let's- Right... Kev got like partial unboxing. There are some good tips, just general,
• 7:08
you know, cycling things like park tool. Is it a green handle or is it a blue handle? Which is, what's a blue handle? Hmm. That's a, that's a hex. Wait, wait. A green handle- There's a green handle? Yeah, it's a Torx.
• 7:18
I've never heard of the green line. It's a Torx. Did never knew they made a green handle. See, you should watch the video. I guess I need to watch the video. You'll learn. You'll be entertained and you educate.
• 7:28
I'll, I'll learn something news. Remember how we talked about tire valves not that long ago? Oh, yes. And I posted, I sent you a link today. Was that the one that [laughs] is that the one? Yes.
• 7:39
Bobby wants to reimagine all of it. Well, some other guy invented it already, and they're the first one to latch onto the idea. Hmm.
• 7:47
So it's, it's something that you click onto and it locks your, the head of the pump on it, which I think is a great idea, and you can replace your Presta valve core. Or your Schrader.
• 8:00
Or your Dunlop, which I forgot- Or your Dunlop... even wasn't. Oh. Dunlop, like my belly's done lopping over my belt- [laughs]... kind of thing. [laughs] It's good that it's done- Um... doing that.
• 8:10
But on, even on the Presta one, apparently it flows like twice as much air or something, which I think we're gonna get away from Presta since nobody's running a rim narrow enough to actually need one anymore.
• 8:19
He's terribly annoying. Presta should be dead. Yeah. Hmm. I'm sorry. We talked about this multiple times. First of all, it's- Yeah. First of all, it's French. What is the point?
• 8:25
I'm, I'm living, I'm living in a world- Wait, it's French. Well, that should exist forever. Oui, oui, oui. No. What? No French. No. It, it's- French... it's gonna, it's gonna quit- Motherfucker.
• 8:35
[laughs] It's gonna quit like every other Frenchman out there. [laughs] Surrender. No, no, no. Surrender, monkeys, we are. Surrender to the Schrader valve. Fine. [laughs] Definitely not a Schrader.
• 8:45
Hey, I am totally on the front lines. I will die on that hill for- [laughs]... on the behalf of the Frenchmans. But it is an interesting idea, and I think- Hell yeah... there's a link in the show notes. Check that out.
• 8:54
It was from BikeRumor, but it's been all over the interwebs- Yeah... lately, so I'm pretty sure. It's a neat idea. Yeah. I think that it's a good idea. It's an- Yeah. It's an idea whose time has come.
• 9:02
Well, and Prestas are just frustrating. Frustrating. I just carry the pump- Frustrating valve... and I push a button on it... when they just pop out. It just- Oh, yeah... goes on. [air whooshing] Right? It's, it's okay.
• 9:12
It works for me. Wow. So, yeah. I have a frustrating trying, trying to inflate any tire or address issue, and it's like, "Oh, what's the problem?" "Oh, my Schrader right there is busted," normally. Mm-hmm.
• 9:26
It's like, "Mm, meh, meh, meh, meh, meh." I have bent many a Presta. So, good. Yeah. It's annoying as fuck. Well, some- Yes. Yeah. It, it, it is.
• 9:33
That's why I'm saying, it's a terribly annoying, uh- Do you know when I re-watch-... technology... pop songs? When I re-watch the podcast, it's, when I d- it dawns on me that I say, "Fuck," so much.
• 9:42
You don't always do it. I do it a fucking lot. Might be when you have more beers than when you have less. I'm not sure. When do I have less beers? I did say five at the last.
• 9:50
If, if Daniel were sitting right there on that chair, would you be fucking, fucking, fucking the guy? No, because I wouldn't let Daniel sit on that chair. He would be awesome on that chair.
• 9:57
He'd look like regal in a king. No, he would not. He would be bouncing around us. You guys obviously don't know enough ti- you have not spent enough time with my son, Daniel.
• 10:04
Love him to death, but he would not sit in that chair. No, he'd be on... No, on the skateboard. Well, if you- Let's go surfing now. If you did enough Velcro- Everybody's doing that... he would stay on that chair...
• 10:12
and so should I. No, it wouldn't. Meep, boing, boing, boing, boing, boing. He's stronger than him. You're gonna have plenty of Velcro that he'll get in, he'll get his ass- he'll, he'll strip naked to get out of...
• 10:20
You'd see the seat and his, like, shorts. Yeah? And then you'd have to deal with naked Daniel. Oh. Would you think about that, okay? Doing the helicopter and whatnot. Yeah, right. No way.
• 10:29
Every, everyone has a super- Helicopter... their superpower. No way. He can do it. He can do it. Everyone has their superpower. He's a, I think he needs a pogo stick or something. He, he has one. He's bouncing around.
• 10:38
Okay, bring that in. [laughs] He goes boing, boing, boing. Whap, whap, whap. All right. Well, Sam's here, so let's talk about Sam's stuff, 'cause Sam brought his Sergeant RSD Titanium- Oh, yeah... Sergeant.
• 10:48
Do they still make that frame? I believe so. I, my buddy Chris- I'm pretty sure they-... who keeps up on bikes a little more than I do said it's a pretty amazing new one that they have.
• 10:58
I wish I could comment more on it, but- Well, you've had yours for- Apparently it's a real special one... some length of time now. I'm gonna say 10 years. Yeah. It was- 29 or plus, right? Yeah. No, this is a 27.5.
• 11:11
With- Oh... with 3.0s on it. They're big ass wheels. Maybe even handles with 3.0s, and it's got a, I think the front, uh, suspension's a 160. So you got three bikes? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I did not know that.
• 11:24
The Nar- I, you, you saw that picture and- The Narves to the Trisa. The Narves is what I'm thinking of. Yeah. Okay. And of course, the Chumba.
• 11:30
Oh, you saw that picture when I was, had, had been out for a ride with Theresa and another buddy of mine, and we were on all three of them, and you said, "Oh, those are your th- three bikes." I said, "Yeah, they are."
• 11:39
[laughs] Oh, they were all, all of you were riding your bikes? Yeah, that day. [laughs] I love Theresa. But yeah, she's funny. She's so sweet. I, the fat bike didn't get much use this year.
• 11:48
No, no snow, no- And lately, I'll tell you, you know, I've, I've- No ice on the beach... I've been getting out, but it's been- No, you, yeah, you ride around- Dodging all the-...
• 11:55
going like, "Hey, mind if I get your snow tire on?" Just hope it dries out sometime here. Yep. Uh, beach is looking good. I had wondered if, uh, it was way high this year or what.
• 12:08
It, the, the, the lake is way low this year. Oh, okay. I, I haven't seen since the recent rains, but no, I don't think that would affect it for one or two days, 'cause the Milwaukee River is very high.
• 12:19
Meaning that the lower part of the river trail is submerged in a lot of spots, but- That's... It's way, way high. Yeah. Even Daniel riding to school comments, like, "There's a lot of water." Oh, nice.
• 12:31
'Cause we crossed... Now we cross... Because Locust Bridge is currently half open. Oh, hell. Yeah. So we cross- I just found that out...
• 12:37
on the sidewalk, and he's sitting on the back of the bike being, "Water really high, Daddy." 'Cause there used to be that island where the, the geese would sit- Uh-huh... like in the middle. Yeah. Mm.
• 12:47
And that's lo- I mean, that's, that's a foot or better underwater right now. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And he notices it. He's, he's observant for a four-year-old. We did, uh, we did Bill's Bike Biergarten. What's it?
• 13:00
Beer- Bike Biergarten Ride? Bill's Biergarten Birthday Bonanza- Bike- bike ride... I believe. Bike ride. Some- Bill Mc- A lot of Bs... Silver Beard Bill? Yeah. Yep. Nice. That's- That's good Bill.
• 13:10
So when we got to Esterbrook Park Biergarten, which was one of the stops, the middle of the three stops, three stops- The, the eight-mile ride you guys did? Yeah. It was more like nine and a half, dude. Oh, God, no.
• 13:21
Well, it wasn't distance- You survived it? You survived? [laughs] It wasn't distance. It was time. Yeah. It was- It was time... there was a lot of beer. It was like going on a Luns ride. It is Bill.
• 13:32
That was the first thing that came to my mind when you said- And it was just-... time-consuming. Yeah... it was like, "Oh, okay." They had to place the beer- "This is like three beers-... in a certain spot, so y-...
• 13:38
each stop." Sounds like Bill. There was a lot of beer at, uh, the very first stop. Anyway, at- That's what I'm saying...
• 13:44
Esterbrook Park- They need to set up a midway spot generally where the beer has to be so they could stop and drink it. No, we stopped there before the midway stop- Oh, okay... which was before the first stop.
• 13:54
[laughs] Yeah. That was the thing. Yeah. Sounds like a Bill ride. Yeah. So- It, it was working out nicely But vis-a-vis- But I had other things to do in the day. Uh-oh. I couldn't get all schnockered and- No way. Nah.
• 14:08
I couldn't do it all the way through. Nice job. Hey, I g- had to go see The Hold Steady, my one... The second time on the Summerfest grounds. God, I'm gonna say another really- Oh, is that the band?... like- Yeah.
• 14:20
Nice... people are gonna argue with me, but I do not like The Hold Steady. Okay. You don't like much over there, do you? And that's fine. I do, but The Hold Ste- [laughs] That guy's voice is so grating. It's distinctive.
• 14:30
Okay. That's your- No, it is very distinctive, and grating. You- Yeah. That's your opinion. I mean, y- if you never- He sounds like a very nasal- "It's someone's birthday in my room. It's not mine."
• 14:39
It- if you've never heard the guy before- Like a very n-... and you heard one song, you would know him... a very nasally, uh, Bruce Springsteen- Oh... is the one I've heard of.
• 14:47
Oh, that's a really great comparison, and- So when you hear him-... while we're on it, I don't like Bruce Springsteen that much either [laughs]... so I think that's where this all comes from. I, I agree with that.
• 14:56
So now- Okay. You are right... now, now that we're working in the therapy session here, do you want to hit, uh, the horizontal? It will...
• 15:03
[laughs] We'll dive into other matters later after the, um, when the video goes up. Okay, sir. [laughs] Yeah. Wow, I did not notice that comparison until you said that. You are right. That's what I'm here for, man.
• 15:14
I like Bruce Springsteen for who he is. Just like you like- But you're right. That-... Bon Jovi for who he is. Are we gonna fucking throw down? [laughs] Hey, man. Hey, he's fucking awesome.
• 15:25
You know- And you don't have to like his music, though... I will agree, though, Bon Jovi politically is a very good human being and, and all that jazz. You say something, I'll bite my lip.
• 15:33
But, but- I don't have to fart out whatever's in song... let's, let's, all right, let's get over The Hold Steady, all right? Yeah. We're going to Yachats. My friend flew in from California to see The Hold Steady. Yeah.
• 15:42
It has a draw. So great there. That's why. Wow. I guess. They must be quite the band. I know. It's someone's birthday, but not mine. [laughs] It was a lot of, uh- Or maybe it is my birth-... Min- Minneapolis...
• 15:54
I don't know... comes from Min- Minneapolis. They're a Minneapolis band. And yeah, used to be Lifter Puller, and then that was more punky. Okay. So it brings him and them and da-da-ne-da-dunk-da-dunk.
• 16:06
And yeah, so it was- Sound-... I mean, Minnesota nice... let's talk to Sam about his- Let's do it... his summer. [laughs] The summer of Sam. What have you been doing? You been doing some riding?
• 16:16
I have been doing some riding. I've been trying to do some riding. It's been really wet a lot, so I've had to stay in a lot of days that I planned to go out.
• 16:23
But, uh, even on days that it's had some days to dry out, it seems like even the areas that should be dry are just not dry. They're not. They're moist.
• 16:32
And I've seen, uh, photos of Minooka that was literally under water, like straight up, uh- Wow. I don't know... water. Like, you know? Had you been out there- I don't know the time it took me, I'm sorry...
• 16:40
any time near the WARS race that was at Minooka? Um, I was there that week and it wasn't so bad, but then it poured the very day before WARS. And they ran it anyway.
• 16:47
But I haven't been there since, and it hasn't been ter- it hasn't been terrible. I mean, you could see some, uh, some pizza cutter, uh, lines going on. But, uh- Yeah...
• 16:56
it ultimately, you know, you can avoid it pretty well, but- I mean, the whole deal with what NICA does, and supposedly WARS when they have a race at a place like that which is a county park- Mm-hmm...
• 17:07
they're supposed to go in there and make it as if it were they were never there. Mm-hmm. And they certainly didn't do that. That mean...
• 17:13
The idea is they go in and make the trail as good as it was before they messed it all up. Yeah. And, uh, with a thousand- Doesn't look like that... with a thousand people, that how is that gonna happen? Yeah. Mm-hmm.
• 17:23
It- The, the NICA thing I'm a little more okay with, because these are sixth, seventh, eighth through high school kids racing, and they are being introduced to the sport, and somebody should go out and take care of it for them, which they do.
• 17:36
But also, get your kids out there. Right. They love taking- They're young. They should go to work... they love, they love taking a lopper and cutting branches off.
• 17:42
Get them a cullick and to start hammering away at the trail. You know, trail building is not only fun, but it's also really good exercise. [laughs] Oh, yeah. No shit. Yeah. I, I remember doing that for the, uh, the Emma
• 17:57
Carlin race. Were you there when, when we moved the rock- The cra- the, the guy who would like-... that was the size of a VW Bug?
• 18:01
Well, the guy who would send the, uh, email not- newsletters and all, like almost ransom letters. If you wanna ride the trail- I think I know who you're talking about... you have to come out here...
• 18:12
you know what I'm talking about? John is his name or something. Yeah. It was just like the crazy Alfie- He's that guy... boom, ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom, ba-boom.
• 18:17
I, I did a trail ride with Greg when he whipped out this- But yeah, just like hacking around. Shit... this Fiskars saw Craig? That guy. What?
• 18:25
I, wh- And literally, like he pulls off his backpack and he rips out this saw and cuts down a branch, and I was just like, "That's fucking cool." Yeah. Oh. 'Cause it was a, it was a- It wasn't quite that...
• 18:34
it was like about this big, and that fiscal like cut through it like- The blade is-... butter... you know, it's a folding thing, it's that long Like it, it literally, I'm like, that's an impressive saw.
• 18:41
I think they're $30. Right. Maybe they're not very expensive. And- No, and-... having one in your bag- But to have one with you on a ride- Well-... that's the whole game... in your bag. In my bag. Yeah.
• 18:51
So, uh- [laughs]... building the jungle cross, um, Mike and Burle- Oh. Yeah... he, all of a sudden he brings out- Love that... like three fucking machetes. Oh. Oh, yeah.
• 19:00
That's my m- And he's like, "I got this one in Malaysia, got this one [laughs] in Singapore." And those things are like- So he is as badass as he appears. Oh, Lord. Mm-hmm. I was just like, I wanted...
• 19:08
They're like, "Hey, can you, you could use- That's awesome... you could use this." I'm like, "No, I want to play with this as long as I can."
• 19:14
I swear to God I like regressed to like a awesome 12-year-old reading like- Oh my gosh, yeah. Oh. [bell rings] What? What? What? What? Until it wears you out and you're tired. What are you looking for?
• 19:23
I was looking for my [laughs] my pseudo sue that was waiting. Oh. Um, so- Pseudo sue [laughs]... so the, for the beer of the day on account of there's still a dollar over at Company if you're in the area.
• 19:33
Oh, those poor people. Oh, on, uh- Space... is, uh, Space Whistle. A whistle. Mosaic IPA, 6.5. I didn't hit the, uh- It's got a cool label. Mm. You can t- peel it off there with your fingers.
• 19:45
[whistles] So you're supposed to, uh- So when you recycle it, you know, you- See, I always do that. I wonder if anyone e- I always wonder if anyone ever does- If it's one of these things... that's how we recycle them.
• 19:53
Oh, all right. Oh, see? Okay, yeah. This is like opening a box on The Other. Makes sense to me. And it makes sense to have one that comes off nicely like that. Right. Not one that- Well, that's- Absolutely.
• 20:01
Oh, Thomas Thing, here we go. It almost... No, it's like a mustard kind of- You don't even have to use a knife- Now I forgot what kind of-... it just comes off... I forgot what kind of beer I have now.
• 20:07
It's Space Whistle. Not, not the heady- I have no idea... days of the 70s and 80s when generic beer just had- It's a Space Whistle... beer. Whistle. [laughs] So yeah. I'll keep reminding you.
• 20:19
Otherwise, uh, there's some leftover beers which we're currently going through, including- Well, that's awes-... including pseudo sue- That is awesome that you're-...
• 20:25
which doesn't have a removable because it's- Or you carry one over from Amorphic. It's, uh, over here. Oh, that's what you did there. Anchovy. Mm. Has nothing to do with the fish even though the fish is delicious. It's-
• 20:37
When it's in a Caesar salad, maybe... uh, and on top of a pizza. And guess what? When you order it that way, and half the people go, "Ooh, that's repellent." Not me. I'm like, "Then it's all mine then." Yeah.
• 20:48
I'll take those pieces. [laughs] That's so... No, that's how you cull- They do get a little salty, but I love it... that's how you cull the herd a little bit. He has a gross- Like, okay, all right. Th- yes, yes... gross.
• 20:57
You can hang with me. But you like Caesar salad. I love Caesar salad, but no anchovies on it, just in the dressing. What the hell? Well, if they're little tiny, not- You don't want to see it... big fishy pieces.
• 21:06
That's me and tomatoes. I can't eat a raw tomato. Blend them up in a food processor. I'm with, I'm with Mike on that one. Then I'm fine. Then I'm fine. You'll drink them. Then I'm fine. Yep. Raw tomato?
• 21:13
I don't want that- You added that to V8-... anywhere near anybody's food... I would destroy that. Heck yeah. I love a good V8 mixed with weird stuff. Like an anchovy would be fantastic.
• 21:23
Now let's get into- Arugula, all that jazz... that's like the sunny tee versus the h- Five Alive. Why is he blee- he j- hold steadying us again. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Oh, is that their song? Wait. Their album?
• 21:37
He's bringing it back. Bringing it around. No, I'm bringing it all the way around. But did we discuss what this is? I'm very Irish, I just know how this does. I just hit it. [bell rings] Space Whistle?
• 21:45
We are doing Space Whistle. We talked about that. Shit. [laughs] Because- But we have all kinds of other beers going on here tonight, so. Yeah. Well, you- All right... kind of mentioned that.
• 21:54
I know, but we- But, and, and the idea that you get those for a dollar a can on a s- certain days over at Company Still. Push it back, daddy.
• 22:01
We, the only thing we can think of is that the only thing they had left in the fermenters when they closed was Space Whistle and, uh, Lordy Lordy. So did they can them right on site there?
• 22:14
Yeah, they have a canning system on site. Or- Okay. Well, that would be-... are those things that have to age? It could be that they were an aged age. And they're just gonna eke it out- But they are ales-...
• 22:22
along the way... so they shouldn't have to age that much. No. Well, essentially, well, I, that's what I'm think-king is- Why are they bothering-... it's just gonna be one thing in perpetuity-...
• 22:30
to sell beer for a dollar when they o-... while they're just doing this all going like- 800 grand... "Okay, let's just can it up and, like, whatever." Just to get rid of it, I'm guessing. Does it cost? Yeah. Maybe.
• 22:36
Maybe to do one last final hurrah with the money they're losing. I, I think it's more that n- n- the fact that it's gonna either go to waste or they sell it- Yeah... for a buck a can. You'll get...
• 22:45
Yeah, exact- exact- that's smart. You know? Yes. I mean, I literally rolled up on my bike, and I had already prepaid, and the lady's like, "You here for a pickup?" I'm like, "Yep." I'm like, "Two cases of beer."
• 22:57
And it was all ready to go. What are your selections? And I feel bad because I love Company. Yeah. And I f- I feel bad that- I mean, yeah, you're feeling-...
• 23:05
there was a lot of bad decisions made there to end up- You feel like you're-... a million and a half dollars in debt. Well, like- Wow. Good beer- I don't-... good venue... I don't think-... it's a good location...
• 23:13
certainly. Man. But no- Really bums me out... but nobody's lasted longer than them there. Is that right? It's true. Uh- It's true. They were there nine years. Yeah.
• 23:20
I g- I was thinking about 10 years, but- Stone Fly and Opa, all those, they didn't last any longer. Yeah. Well, Opa must've last- They were close... eight years or something. Five. They, they were all close.
• 23:28
It was about that. Yeah. They- They had some great- So it's, it's a good place to get a-... uh, great bands play there... brewery going 'cause all the stuff is still in there.
• 23:34
We were talking about that I, they really, I mean, it's- So please-... such a great venue for bands... so please, whoever's out there, don't be a fucking douchebag- And buy it...
• 23:42
and take it over and be like, "Mm, mm, mm, uh, uh, uh, uh." Annoying. Are any of you guys following the Tour de France? I hear it's been very hot- I hear it's in France... in France this week.
• 23:54
I heard a Black man, a Black American won his first- Not American. He's E- Erythraean. What's mm- Probably French... but he's riding for the American team, right? Might be, but he's from Eritrea. He's fast as hell. Yeah.
• 24:07
And he won- I saw stage three... stage three. Yeah. So- As an American...
• 24:11
so stage four was the first really big over category mountain, and the guy that won it is probably one of the two that might win the thing overall. Pogacar, he had COVID like 10 days ago. Oh, no.
• 24:26
And he got into the ra- I mean, he recovered from it, but the fact that he had some version of COVID 10 days ago and can win the hardest stage on the race up to this point is interesting.
• 24:39
[laughs] Well- But, but the whole situation is- That was the expansion of the lungs. Yeah. It was a mutation. The whole situation is- This is my calcium...
• 24:44
the more healthy you are- Tell me from- I'm Giorgio Tsoukalos Who? That's what I... [laughs] The more healthy you are, the faster you recover from COVID.
• 24:52
Well, that is obvious that they're- So that's just, that is not surprising at all- They are obviously-... in my eyes... amongst the fittest people in the world.
• 24:58
Yeah, I mean- But is it not possible that it was excess oxalates? My, my- It is possible... my diabetic- There was, there was a-... slightly overweight-... abduction and then a replacement...
• 25:07
coworker who found out he had COVID on Saturday and got Paxlovid is ready to return to work tomorrow. So, I mean, a dude like that, when I hear him having COVID and recovering that quickly is no surprise.
• 25:24
I mean, you, you are at the epitome of your health, a virus infects you, you have so much to fight it off. Yeah. And you have drugs and all that jazz, so you're fine. I just, I think it's impressive because- It is...
• 25:36
I don't think I could walk up some of the steepest pitches on that last climb and, and they're going- Okay. Yeah, in good health... they're going like, "Na, na, na, na." There's Velcro on their, Velcr- Right...
• 25:44
Velcro comes up again today. It's on their tires and on the hill, and they just go, "Ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch, ch." It is really impressive. I mean, they're monsters.
• 25:51
Yeah, yeah, like, uh- They are definitely monsters... The Price Is Right. The Price Is Right. [imitates The Price Is Right theme] So I did not find anywhere to watch it yet.
• 25:59
I had to throw down my $11 for the, uh, Peacock. Oh, okay. Yeah, I never got back to it, I- For the Tour de France. Yeah, which is also- Coverage?... which is also where- Sorry... you're gonna get your Olympic coverage.
• 26:09
I'm not sorry. Like, your extended Olympic coverage. I'm sorry. And I guess we'll get the Packers in São Paulo because we're a local market. Oh. Oh my. But that's also on Peacock. [laughs] What Packers?
• 26:23
It w- yes, Packers in... Shut up, you. Do you hate football, too? Yeah, of course. [laughs] They're playing in São Paulo this year. Right? You're, you're talking about hand- It's an international game... handball, right?
• 26:33
You know Marcus Downey is going to be in São Paulo for said game working the show. Perseus.
• 26:40
Yep, I mean, I don't know- Do not mix- That's just, like- Well, that's- And he's also gonna be in Germany- No, that's the venue-... but not for that one... okay... but for the NFL. It is.
• 26:45
Take away the, uh, American egg ball on the- Hand egg. Where is it? The- Hand egg... uh- What about, what's Thr- The, the color gr- What's, what's Thrallball? The color green is, like, no cool in São Paulo. São Paulo.
• 26:59
It's like, it's like- Huh... it is, like, absolutely, like, totally gang affiliated and- Green? The color green? Yes. So they'll be in their whites. Really? They'll be in their whites.
• 27:07
So it's, like, two, two teams whose base color is green. But they'll be in their whites. So- Well, Brazil's flag is- Yeah... very green. Uh, what does that mean? Well, they're- What is that?
• 27:17
That's a fucked up fucking country, man. Fucked up country. They got problems. And that's, hey, man, that's just, boom. Yeah. You know, you just, oh, th- this is what the world is now.
• 27:26
I mean, yeah, couple years ago- So wait, it's-... this country was a little different feeling. [laughs] It's nearly the end of our entire podcast here. I want to bring up- Never. Why are you- Oh... bringing the ship in?
• 27:37
Why are you- Yeah, why are you- More to the ship? 'Cause I looked at the clock. Why are you stopping the show already? Tick-tock, tick-tock. I want to- Don't look at the clock...
• 27:44
I want to bring up- Y'all do the same as I do... something I find that, that dawned on me today that I think is really fascinating. So why not have really, really low wattage e-bikes? They do.
• 28:00
I'm, I'm talking 50- They used to use them on the Tour de France. Yeah, they were called- They had them in the bottom bracket... the bottom bracket. Well, yeah, in the, in the bottom bracket. Acoustat bikes. Exactly.
• 28:06
[laughs] That's what actually made me think of this. But- Single speed... why not have an e-bike- Oh... that provides you with just enough pedal assist to be okay for things like hills? Yeah.
• 28:23
Your battery will la- I'm thinking 50-watt hub. 50-watt bottom bracket. 50, 50-watt bottom bracket. All right, so- Whatever... so, so here's, to, to make a point of your point,
• 28:35
the guys that go super fast for super long do 450 watts. So 50 is 10% of that, right? Right. Right. But if you could add 10% to your measly 100 watts, that's twice or, or, or 50% more than what you're already doing.
• 28:52
Than what your average rider rides. Right? It's not a dumb idea, Tony. Tony- I mean-... that's not a dumb idea. If you think about it, your battery would last way longer. Probably, like, 500 miles.
• 29:01
You would exercise more. I would walk 500 miles, and then I would walk- I would walk even more... 500 more. You'd be riding your bike instead of hitting your button.
• 29:09
I mean, it just, like, I'm like, it dawned on me today, I'm like, "This has tread." I mean- Traction... I, or traction. I love riding a bike. The tread gives you the traction.
• 29:21
Giving me a 50-watt hub and a lightweight battery that lets me do an extra 25 miles to my standard ride? So what do you think that Switch thing is? What's their h- hub motor?
• 29:34
It's still, like, a 200-plus watt front hub motor. Did you know the Copenhagen- It's still 20 miles. Did you know the Copenhang, Hag- Hagman, the Kopenhagen- Still looking for one of those...
• 29:45
the Kopenhagen- Larry Hagmans... the wheel, it had- The Larry Hagman? It got bricked because they quit, but there's a guy that's come up with a reverse engineering thing. Wow. So if you have one, you can now
• 29:56
load it into your phone and still control your wheel, which is awesome. So you should check with Carolyn, who still has one? Uh, the lady next door that has the puppy dogs that they carry in the slings? Oh, she has.
• 30:07
[laughs] She has one. [snorts] [laughs] And she asked me how to deal with it, so I had to look it up. I'm like, "Well, yeah, there's a guy that came out with a thing." I don't know names, either.
• 30:15
[laughs] I'm so bad with names. No, but you know the things, and it's like the 1000th- He might know the dogs' names, maybe You're night and day better with names than I am. No. No, no, none of us are.
• 30:24
Well, you know dogs' names better than I do. Is that the, the two cute dogs she carries in the- Yeah, and the- Slings... and the guy and the girl and the- Dogs in slings... she's, she's a dean at Marquette.
• 30:31
Yeah, I know those. Dogs in slings. Yep. Yep. And I- Don't remember her name... and her, yeah, I, I don't know- I apologize... her name either, but I love her dogs. I, and I'm very bad with names.
• 30:39
I have many, I have many pictures of her dogs. I'm pretty sure she listens to our show, so Well, then goddammit- Oh, well [laughs]... I love it even more. We all love you. Why? Why? Whoever you are.
• 30:48
But come on over to my house and your- [laughs]... dog can play with my dog. It'll be great. [laughs] Your dog can play with my dog. During the whole show. But no, just like a 50-watt hub. Yeah. A little- I feel you...
• 30:59
extra. It just makes sense. I'm like- I think you put it somewhere where it's not obtrusive, so people stop- I mean-... making fun of you for riding an e-bike. A 50-watt [laughs] hub motor?
• 31:11
Don't ride the e-bike then in the lane where- A 50-watt hub motor is-... it makes people point at you... this big. No one's gonna [laughs] know.
• 31:18
Dude, they gotta be smaller than that 'cause the RC racing electric planes we used to do were a horsepower, which is 2,000 watts, and those motors were about that big around.
• 31:28
You had to have this many batteries behind it, but- Uh-huh... they went 180 miles an hour because that was- We don't need to do that. But it was a little motor. It was like that big. It was very small.
• 31:38
It is a market yet to be explored. You are a true thing. I like the truth. Maybe you want this In- you know, did you hear of In- In- Yngwie? Yngwie Malmsteen? No, no. It's- Wait.
• 31:49
He, he only plays- I've heard of Yngwie Malmsteen... but it's not, it's not- I, I think he only plays two strings. Yes. And, "Ah!" [laughs] Like that. Right?
• 31:56
So there's a company called Yngwie, E-N-G-W-E- Oh, I do know them. Yep, yep... not, not Wee Wee Bed Stain, but Yngwie- [laughs]... you know, M20. Um- Oh, I, you're caught in the rabbit hole there, baby.
• 32:07
[laughs] I saw one of those on campus this week. We're not talking about loose bed springs, are you now there? 'Cause he does, he hates that guy. [laughs] Anyway- [laughs]... uh, the, the 2.0 version, 163-mile range,
• 32:20
$1,249. [laughs] It's got like 1,600 watt-hours. The batteries that you left to charge- What?... over there are about nine or 10 watt-hours. Nine. 1,600 wa- 1,249. Get the hell out of here. $1,249? Yeah.
• 32:38
We should buy one. You could ride forever. It goes 28 miles an hour. I don't wanna do that. It kinda looks like a Super73 but more, more better. You could ride forever, but who would want to? [laughs] Yeah. Well, okay.
• 32:48
I wouldn't want to. Who would want to? Tony wouldn't want to because he got his... He sold his bike, then he bought his bike back, and then he, then he decided to- I saw that little dance...
• 32:56
then he decided to ride his bike. So pissed... and then, and then he decided that the bike was so much better than the one he normally rides that he's gonna keep riding that one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
• 33:04
I remember you lo- Unless he needs to carry around an 80-pound kid on it. I remember- Right... you loaned that to me for, I think it was a Fat Tire Tour, and it took me,
• 33:16
uh, third stop to figure out that I could- There's a throttle?... I, yeah. Oh, no, that I could switch gears. I'm a single s- I'm a sc- Yeah... single speed. It's a fun bike. [laughs] I was just like, "Oh, wait."
• 33:29
And it was belt drive. It was- It was- It was belt drive. It is belt drive again. Oh, good. It was- Oh, yeah... it- It's a three-speed... yeah. It was a very... Thank you, again.
• 33:39
If you live in Milwaukee, a three-speed- That was, that was a very sexy introduction-... belt drive bike is all you need- It was a sexy introduction to Schlicks Cycles... with e-assist...
• 33:46
that was a very silky smooth- That bike has been many things. That bike has been many, many things. See how versatile that bike is? And it came back to you because it was like- 'Cause Sam's an idiot? No.
• 33:54
It was a hassle to me. It's like, Tony, you're an idiot for selling it in the first place. [laughs] I was. I, I had a moment of weakness and offered it to him, and-
• 34:02
I'm glad he didn't take it because he doesn't deserve it. No, he took it and brought it back. [laughs] Because, because- And that's what makes me even more happy about it... uh- Oh, my God... taking it right back.
• 34:10
I sold it to him for 800 bucks. This is like a Syl- He wasn't happy with it... Sylvia Plath fucking- He thought it was not in as good of shape as he had hoped. He doesn't listen to the show anyway.
• 34:18
I'm like, it was $800, dude. It's a handmade Tom Teasdale frame. Jeez. It's a three-speed SA- I know which bike you're talking about... I mean, ev- everything about it is- It's right outside...
• 34:29
like way- I've rode that thing... worth 800 bucks. [laughs] Yeah. Yeah. But I'm cool. I'm cool. I'm glad. You know what else is cool? Sam's glasses. What's up with those? Those, those are great. I wear glasses now.
• 34:38
Yeah, but what, what's with the, uh, the coloring and the, what color? They do change greenish. Yeah, they're kind of, um, iridescent. Oh. It's like- These are those ones... it's kinda like blurple.
• 34:48
Oh, you mean the fra- Oh, yeah. I, I mean, I have the, I have the-... you mean the actual-... I have the frame size, but this is just from bike- Oh, you can fold those up nicely. Oh, yeah.
• 34:55
It's, it's broken in all the places I'd break them. They are nice. [laughs] Yeah. Y'all... You do have a light, your, the lower cheeks have a light greenish hue- Yeah, it's got a little green tint...
• 35:06
to them, so I'm sure that's because of the coloring. Kinda makes you look cool. Well, because you got the big old spotlight here. It kinda goes through the f- Yeah... lenses exactly that way. That's exactly what it is.
• 35:14
So- Yep, yep... I know they're- You look, don't feel self-conscious though... they, they protect me against blue light and- That's exactly what they are... infrared apparently, and UV.
• 35:22
So- You can't read my thoughts with these glasses on [laughs]... I- and they also have the transition slightly, so- Let's, let's just see that when it happens. I think they look great. Yeah. I, I- They're cool.
• 35:34
You, you, you look very studious. You know what's nice- Oh, thanks... about glasses is y- they're like an accessory. I'm enjoying it.
• 35:39
You can change them whenever you want to a different one and you're like, "I look different." I look different. Mm-hmm. When you wear your cowboy hat- Yeah, I'm sorry, Kevin. I know...
• 35:46
you're gonna wear your round John Lennon ones maybe. Oh. I don't have a cowboy hat or round John Lennon things. It's just an idea. [sighs] You're full of ideas. I'm just getting started. Most of them bad.
• 35:57
The hell are your ideas? [laughs] Most of them bad. But whoever came up with this idea- Genius... that was a goddamn genius- That's genius... because this is like wherever I break my glasses- You mean like, you know-...
• 36:09
and it's already pre-broken, so I just- The, the big thing-... keep them like that over there... you know, the big thing with the folding- Those are nice looking, too...
• 36:16
locks, like the ones that are the, you know, the Bordeaux Big and all that. Yep. Now they've halved the lock. Everyone's like, "Oh, it's the newest, coolest thing." So it's only this long?
• 36:25
It's like this big and you- Yeah... let it out and it unfolds. I'm like, "Ah." Where's the, where's the, where's the zip tie lock? I still have a bunch of those, uh, at home. Yeah. Oh. You do. God. Those are nice.
• 36:35
Nobody ever stole a bike locked up- Right... with an Outta lock that I ever had. Well, yeah. For the two hours. I mean- Well, but it's not-... they're not overnight locks.
• 36:42
But you're right, that's not what they're intended for. Try to get through that Kevlar with a, with a- I have a lock on my waist. No, it wasn't about getting through- Look at. I have a lock on my waist...
• 36:48
it was not about getting through the Kevlar. It was about just leaning the, uh- You're locked up in a way... lock mechanism- I am locked up And you can just rip it like a zip tie It's all I need to be happy. Nice.
• 36:58
Okay, you watched- I shit you not... you watched the guy? 'Cause I... No, I have that same fucking lock, and I was doing the same fucking thing. Oh, it's probably worn out. Oh.
• 37:06
I'm t- [laughs] Well, I would test it completely, baby. For the record- Oh, yeah... I say fuck a lot on this podcast, but JK does me, like, three x. What? Ooh. With your fucks. Three x large?
• 37:18
I- I, like, give a fuck, you give three fucks. Per my one fuck. Per one, yeah. Right on. I smoke three fucks in the morning. I also like sayings. I smoke three fucks at night. Oh, I like it. I like it.
• 37:27
I smoke three fucks before I smoke three fucks, and then I fuck three smokes more after. You know, I'm gonna be long dead- [laughs]... and hopefully this will still exist, and my- What a nice little rendition...
• 37:36
and my son Daniel's gonna listen to this and hear me say how many times I say fuck. This is the fuck episode. Oh, he'll be like, "Dad, you were so cool back then, bro." This is the fuck- "And now you're dead."
• 37:44
This is the fuck episode. He'll say, "You're so fucking cool." This is the fuck episode. I hope so. He'll be like, "Wait, uh, uh, uh." "Dad, you're fucking cool."
• 37:49
That'll be his doorway to start using the F word whenever he likes. Can we... Does your daughter do the- That'd be like seven... vocal fr- uh, uh, uh. I don't even know how to do it. Uh. I can't. I can't.
• 37:59
Do you ever watch Louder Milk? Nope. Greatest show in the world. When he goes off on the girl at the coffee shop for doing the vocal fry. Better than Letterkenny? Uh, it's- Oh, yes... yeah, it's pretty decent.
• 38:09
Show what this is? I'd give it a go. Louder Milk. Louder Milk. Yeah. Was it a big guy? Bill Hader? L-O-U-D-E-R milk. Is that Bill Hader? It's not Bill Hader. No, but you'd know the guy. [laughs] All right.
• 38:21
It's Bill Lauder. [laughs] It's one of those guys. Bill Lauder Milk? It's one of those guys. I don't, I- Oh, man, it's so good... I know so few shows, but I do know Letterkenny, and that is a hell of a show.
• 38:28
It is a hell of a show. That is sweet. I have to reinvestigate again. All right, then. That's sweet. Oh. All right, no, it is sweet. LA. You guys have worn me out. All right. LA. We gotta go. I gotta take a pee.
• 38:40
