- 0:02Speaker 1: The tree is real. It's about to go down. Wake up,
- 0:10Speaker 1: wake up, turn it down. You know, if you're gonna shoot,
- 0:16Speaker 1: you better shoot straight, because I so who did I
- 0:17Speaker 1: don't know? Lose the worst thing you can deal with tracks.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Welcome to the follow Alert Show featuring your lifestyle specialists
- 0:23Speaker 1: He Burns and Ferrari Simmons. That the tree is not
- 0:30Speaker 1: too festive this morning. Sorry about the short part of
- 0:34Speaker 1: the Yeah whatever, dude, Yeah, I just can't feel my
- 0:36Speaker 1: face right now. I should like style specialist Keny Burns,
- 0:40Speaker 1: your favorite Ethiopian s solo And the world is very
- 0:47Speaker 1: sad today with the passing of a young legend out
- 0:50Speaker 1: of UH, California l a UM, Nipsey Hustle. Yeah, Nipsey
- 0:57Speaker 1: Hustle has passed. Was murder brutally murdered in front of
- 1:02Speaker 1: his store UM in the neighborhood UM in which he
- 1:06Speaker 1: owned UM. He actually bought the whole shopping center complex
- 1:10Speaker 1: UM where he had his marathon clothing store, and he
- 1:12Speaker 1: was gunned down outside UM. No one has been arrested
- 1:16Speaker 1: for it yet. We'll get into that momentarily, but I
- 1:20Speaker 1: just want to start off the conversation UM and we
- 1:23Speaker 1: won't be doing the regular format today because we want
- 1:25Speaker 1: to honor his brother in the right way. There's so
- 1:27Speaker 1: many different things floating around on social media, um about
- 1:33Speaker 1: what happened and why, so forth and so on. I
- 1:35Speaker 1: want to start by saying that, Um, Nipsey, Uh, if
- 1:40Speaker 1: you look back, the last couple of years, has only
- 1:43Speaker 1: been talking about progression. Um. He has been buying property.
- 1:49Speaker 1: He has been promoting and preaching that, you know, buying
- 1:53Speaker 1: back your neighborhood is is very important. And you know
- 1:57Speaker 1: what we can do as a people if we stuck together,
- 2:00Speaker 1: so forth and so on. And now all you're hearing
- 2:02Speaker 1: and the social spear from the naysayers or the haters
- 2:05Speaker 1: if you will, is he was a gang banger And
- 2:08Speaker 1: what type of life did you expect if he continuously
- 2:12Speaker 1: you know, honored this that in the third well, if
- 2:14Speaker 1: you grew up in the neighborhood, um, such as Nipsey
- 2:18Speaker 1: and Snoop and Game and a lot of people from
- 2:21Speaker 1: the West Coast, there's only a couple of different ways, um,
- 2:24Speaker 1: that you could do it. Um. And that's not to
- 2:26Speaker 1: say that some of those human beings aren't amazing. People
- 2:29Speaker 1: don't have families and don't take care of their responsibilities. UM.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And I want to jump into it, y'all. I think
- 2:37Speaker 1: that you know, it's so much that we'll talk about today,
- 2:40Speaker 1: but I wanted to start off by saying that he
- 2:42Speaker 1: was a super solid individual. And this is from someone
- 2:44Speaker 1: who knew him, someone who broke a lot of bread together, um,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and had the talks about what was coming and how
- 2:52Speaker 1: we could grow. I mean as you get older. Obviously
- 2:55Speaker 1: he was thirty three years old. He had made it
- 2:58Speaker 1: out of his twenties, uh, um, and and all the
- 3:01Speaker 1: reckless things we do in our in our younger age
- 3:03Speaker 1: is not knowing who we are. This is a process.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And he really got into his bag and really started
- 3:09Speaker 1: to define who he was and then started to project
- 3:11Speaker 1: that awesomeness to everybody else. But the one thing I
- 3:15Speaker 1: want to start with is they had this conspiracy going
- 3:17Speaker 1: around um and social media being the you know, being
- 3:23Speaker 1: the just ridiculousness that it could be. Is saying that,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you know, because he was working this documentary about dr
- 3:29Speaker 1: cv um. If you don't know who dr cv is
- 3:32Speaker 1: dr cv um. Yeah, he cured age, it was proven. Um.
- 3:37Speaker 1: He he had you know, these uh conversations um through video. Yeah,
- 3:45Speaker 1: he was that's what left I was actually when she
- 3:48Speaker 1: had the trap. But anyway, he yeah, he just basically
- 3:51Speaker 1: he he knew more than he was supposed to know.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And I truly believe that was a conspiracy and the
- 3:56Speaker 1: government killed him. I believe that it was a very
- 3:58Speaker 1: mysterious death and we still really know. Yeah, I believe that.
- 4:03Speaker 1: But I don't believe that that Nipsey doing a documentary
- 4:06Speaker 1: or him had anything to do with his death. And
- 4:08Speaker 1: and I see Instagram perpetuating that and keep you know,
- 4:12Speaker 1: it wasn't him his assassination and that I think the
- 4:15Speaker 1: thing about that, though Kenny Burns is like, it's very possible.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It's very possible. We don't. There are a lot of
- 4:22Speaker 1: things that it could be, and I don't I'm not
- 4:25Speaker 1: going to cancel out, you know, the government being involved,
- 4:28Speaker 1: or just people not wanting him to grow in the
- 4:32Speaker 1: direction that he was growing in, like stunning his growth.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I don't think that it's far fetched. I don't know
- 4:36Speaker 1: if if that's the case, I don't think it's far fetched. Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I think not to disrespect his movement, not to dispect
- 4:42Speaker 1: where he was in his life at the time, But
- 4:45Speaker 1: you know, Martin Luther King, they want to get rid
- 4:47Speaker 1: of because his his his pulpit is different, like his
- 4:51Speaker 1: his following is different. Nipsey was concentrated in that area.
- 4:55Speaker 1: He was just starting to be I mean, you know
- 4:57Speaker 1: what I'm saying, mainstream, and it was not like he
- 5:00Speaker 1: had that much information out there where he was going
- 5:02Speaker 1: against Like he wasn't going against status quote like people
- 5:06Speaker 1: that the government killed. I'm a conspiracy theorist ferguson activists
- 5:10Speaker 1: who who were doing well in their local communities. They
- 5:14Speaker 1: we didn't really know a lot of them by name,
- 5:16Speaker 1: and they're disappearing. I could see both sides what you say,
- 5:19Speaker 1: like for instance, pursue Um, he was, you know, broadening
- 5:24Speaker 1: his community and you know, helping black people and you know,
- 5:27Speaker 1: giving them jobs and better his community on a like
- 5:30Speaker 1: a small scale. But like you're saying, like he wasn't
- 5:33Speaker 1: like controlling the whole world, had everybody on his back
- 5:37Speaker 1: like that. Yeah, that's like fair Con. It's like fair Con.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Like if you look back before fair Con and the
- 5:43Speaker 1: nation and what they practiced and they preached I'm talking
- 5:45Speaker 1: about it has Yeah, I mean really exactly we knew
- 5:50Speaker 1: he was doing though we we anybody could look at
- 5:52Speaker 1: NFC A new fan could just tune in for two weeks,
- 5:55Speaker 1: two days and know where this man was going. You
- 5:58Speaker 1: could watch his interviews from the time he was sixteen
- 6:00Speaker 1: seventeen years old talking about investing in real estate. There
- 6:04Speaker 1: was no way that anybody could meet him or learn
- 6:06Speaker 1: about him and not learn that. We know at ball
- 6:10Speaker 1: Alert that it was not a conspiracy by the government.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It was somebody that he knew, and the street justice
- 6:17Speaker 1: has been been given. Well, I got to say something
- 6:20Speaker 1: about that. Basically, you know, I had a couple of
- 6:22Speaker 1: phone calls with a couple of my old g s
- 6:24Speaker 1: that are familiar with a lot of things over there,
- 6:28Speaker 1: and from what I was told, it was a dispute,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and the dispute went back. Oh boy said, be back
- 6:38Speaker 1: came back. So from what I heard that everyone knows
- 6:42Speaker 1: exactly who it is, and from what I hear, he's
- 6:45Speaker 1: no longer with us. So I wanted to dispel that
- 6:47Speaker 1: rumor because I think when you get into conspiracy, it's
- 6:51Speaker 1: like and saying that the government did something. That's the
- 6:53Speaker 1: that's the easy out, you know what, I'm saying, that's
- 6:56Speaker 1: the easier that's the easiest thing for us to go blame.
- 6:59Speaker 1: You know what, I'm saying, white man, let's keep in
- 7:01Speaker 1: one thousand, like we want to blame that for being
- 7:03Speaker 1: and that was not the case for quite a bit.
- 7:05Speaker 1: They ought to blame for quite a bit, and they
- 7:07Speaker 1: have taken a number of people out that had voices
- 7:11Speaker 1: and what were and had the power to move people
- 7:14Speaker 1: abs lo. I do think that people thinking that it's
- 7:17Speaker 1: a conspiracy or you know, the government was associated for me,
- 7:22Speaker 1: helps me understand how big Nipsey actually really was. You know,
- 7:25Speaker 1: we're we're thinking he was like this local, just neighborhood nip.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Neighborhood nip exists and like his energy exists here in Atlanta.
- 7:33Speaker 1: You know, I was hanging out with Botchy last night
- 7:35Speaker 1: and I didn't even understand. I walked into his party
- 7:39Speaker 1: and I was like, something's off with Botching and everybody
- 7:42Speaker 1: around him was just kind of partying and like trying
- 7:44Speaker 1: to drink, and I was like, watching, are you okay?
- 7:46Speaker 1: What's wrong? And then he just starts talking talking about
- 7:49Speaker 1: how he booked Nipsey for his first party in Atlanta
- 7:51Speaker 1: and how they grew a relationship and he was really
- 7:54Speaker 1: messed up, and I just it just it was a
- 7:57Speaker 1: different perspective for me. Like he really has touched a
- 7:59Speaker 1: lot of people in so many different ways. Like he's
- 8:02Speaker 1: touched a lot of communities, the habit shop community, whether
- 8:04Speaker 1: you eat the open or air tran we love that
- 8:06Speaker 1: man gang members, people in the slums, people who are
- 8:10Speaker 1: interested in growing professionally. Like, he touched a lot of
- 8:13Speaker 1: different type of people, and I think that's why it
- 8:16Speaker 1: wasn't hard for people to come up with. I think
- 8:20Speaker 1: uh N Hustle had a lot of pot Tupac DNA
- 8:22Speaker 1: in them too. So you can hear it in his
- 8:25Speaker 1: music because I was a fan. I bought a hundred
- 8:26Speaker 1: dollar album. Um very pro black, very pro us, very
- 8:33Speaker 1: pro community, very like you know, will overcome these obstacles
- 8:38Speaker 1: that we were in. And you can hear that in
- 8:40Speaker 1: the music shoot one of the biggest records last time
- 8:43Speaker 1: that I checked. I know it's it was a rare
- 8:46Speaker 1: part and it was a blue part. But people really
- 8:49Speaker 1: was paying attention to the visual, but then pay attention
- 8:51Speaker 1: to what you were saying. Right. He tweeted hours before
- 8:54Speaker 1: his death that had been strong Enemies is a blessing,
- 8:57Speaker 1: And I think that was the first clue to kind
- 8:58Speaker 1: of dispel all the was about the conspiracy that m
- 9:02Speaker 1: from the Yeah yeah, um, you know, I just I
- 9:07Speaker 1: think that, you know, it's sad because people, you know,
- 9:11Speaker 1: it's it's it's one thing, like I said, when you
- 9:12Speaker 1: come up in something and you're sowing golf in the street.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Street life is a part of your every day, but
- 9:18Speaker 1: at some point you do have to distance yourself from
- 9:21Speaker 1: those people in that kind of energy because regardless of
- 9:26Speaker 1: your growth and your maturity and you wanting to leave
- 9:29Speaker 1: it alone, everybody ain't like that. And that was like,
- 9:33Speaker 1: you know, the reason for my post before I went
- 9:36Speaker 1: to sleep. It's just like y'all think this ship is
- 9:38Speaker 1: like whole, and they're gonna be respecting you, and they're
- 9:42Speaker 1: gonna care about the fact that you have a family
- 9:44Speaker 1: and that you're doing right. They don't care. They don't care.
- 9:47Speaker 1: And it's always someone trying to prove a point. It's
- 9:51Speaker 1: always someone trying to prove a point. And I just
- 9:53Speaker 1: think that here's another example of prophecy in a sense,
- 9:57Speaker 1: where you you live by the sword, you die by
- 10:00Speaker 1: the shore. I hate to say this, but you know,
- 10:03Speaker 1: rappers for some reason always die in their hood, in
- 10:07Speaker 1: their neighborhood. But like me Mills said, this song, it
- 10:10Speaker 1: was All Championships album. I say it all the time.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I forget the name of the song, but he tweeted
- 10:14Speaker 1: it last night. I know they killed me in my hood,
- 10:16Speaker 1: but I just keep on coming through, still with it.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Greg y'are throwing a party for all the real nigga. Yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 1: but like real nigga what like in I think what
- 10:28Speaker 1: this does it shows the lack of structure within our communities, right,
- 10:32Speaker 1: Like if there who who's protecting these people? You know
- 10:37Speaker 1: what I mean? Like like if he comes from this
- 10:39Speaker 1: community and we know that he's doing good and he's
- 10:42Speaker 1: going to be a profit low key, you know what
- 10:45Speaker 1: I mean, Like he's going to be the person that
- 10:47Speaker 1: really helps his community do better, who in that community
- 10:50Speaker 1: says all right, look, if you ever decide to pull through,
- 10:52Speaker 1: if you at your store, let us know we got you.
- 10:55Speaker 1: We just want to watch it back. Maybe he didn't
- 10:57Speaker 1: want that energy. But how many times we lose people
- 11:01Speaker 1: because nobody else is protecting them. Nobody's protecting the people
- 11:04Speaker 1: that's actually protecting us. And that's where I think it
- 11:07Speaker 1: gets really messed up at well, and to that point,
- 11:09Speaker 1: I think people just think they get to a point
- 11:11Speaker 1: where they don't need it. You know what I'm saying.
- 11:12Speaker 1: He felt like he didn't need it, you know what
- 11:14Speaker 1: I mean. But in the back, if if I was
- 11:17Speaker 1: that type of person, if even if you told me
- 11:19Speaker 1: you didn't need it, I'm going to keep an eye
- 11:21Speaker 1: on you. But a perfect example with that would be like,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you know, killer Mike, killing Mike. Don't killer Mike does
- 11:27Speaker 1: a lot of terrible work in Atlanta, Like he's one
- 11:29Speaker 1: of the most terrible people in that Lanta. He doesn't
- 11:31Speaker 1: walk around with a whole bunch of security. He does
- 11:33Speaker 1: the same thing. He has businesses, just like Nip. Nip
- 11:37Speaker 1: was in his hood place that he grew out of
- 11:38Speaker 1: slaws and that's where he grew up. He grew up there.
- 11:41Speaker 1: How could you think you should feel safe in places
- 11:45Speaker 1: that you grew up you you know, you know such
- 11:47Speaker 1: and such, you know such and such again, I think
- 11:49Speaker 1: you feel confident in that. But never said I just
- 11:52Speaker 1: think the person to blame is the person who did it.
- 11:55Speaker 1: He should that person. People need to like control their composure.
- 11:59Speaker 1: It's other way is to handle conflict because now there's
- 12:03Speaker 1: no coming back from that whole situation. You can't come
- 12:06Speaker 1: back from that. But they could have squashed it and
- 12:08Speaker 1: did something together. I just can't imagine how this person
- 12:10Speaker 1: thought this was the best solution to let alone, that
- 12:14Speaker 1: they would get away. That's what I don't understand. That's
- 12:17Speaker 1: even like how he used to say, you know, he's
- 12:19Speaker 1: for his people, He ride for us, people who do
- 12:21Speaker 1: everything for his people. And then he getting shot by
- 12:24Speaker 1: his people. Yeah, but I think to his actions right,
- 12:28Speaker 1: like like consequences, We get consequences if in pox case,
- 12:32Speaker 1: use in the fight using the physical altercation, you know
- 12:36Speaker 1: what I'm saying, and then you got murdered by the dude.
- 12:39Speaker 1: You you know what I'm saying. So my thing is,
- 12:40Speaker 1: like I think it's prophetic in our music if we
- 12:44Speaker 1: are presenting a certain lifestyle, a certain way of life.
- 12:47Speaker 1: We live by the gun, we die by the gun.
- 12:50Speaker 1: These are these are actual words that popped to live
- 12:53Speaker 1: and die in l A. I mean, it's it's prophetic.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Like you can't continue to put this type and try
- 13:00Speaker 1: us to me. Trust me, as a forty year old
- 13:02Speaker 1: grown man, I was that person. I was in that mix.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I used to you know what I'm saying. That was
- 13:08Speaker 1: the mentality I mentality as teenagers was that we're gonna
- 13:11Speaker 1: get caught make sure you get caught with enough to
- 13:13Speaker 1: get federal time because you didn't want to go to state.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Like if we did X, Y and Z, make sure
- 13:17Speaker 1: you do this then the third. So that was like
- 13:20Speaker 1: a mentality, like such a crazy street mentality that we
- 13:23Speaker 1: have and expect people to live by. Like I just
- 13:26Speaker 1: I don't get it. It's survival, it's survival. But but
- 13:29Speaker 1: I think that at a certain point, this is gonna
- 13:31Speaker 1: be my point. At a certain point, you have to decide,
- 13:34Speaker 1: like like not saying leave the hood alone, let the
- 13:38Speaker 1: hood die off, let our people die off. But it's
- 13:41Speaker 1: just certain places you can't be no more. You have
- 13:44Speaker 1: to change, you know what I'm saying, Your your your surroundings.
- 13:48Speaker 1: We've been conditioned to fight for ourselves and make sure
- 13:52Speaker 1: that we're okay and watch your back. We've completely lost
- 13:55Speaker 1: the sense of community, and I think that this is
- 13:57Speaker 1: a big problem. You can come into the hood and
- 14:00Speaker 1: change the way it looks, you can change the way
- 14:02Speaker 1: it smells, but if you can't tap into people's hearts
- 14:05Speaker 1: and really change like how they live their day to
- 14:07Speaker 1: day life and how they deal with people, we're going
- 14:09Speaker 1: to continue to have these iss That was nipp though,
- 14:11Speaker 1: like Nip will go to the hood. That's what I
- 14:13Speaker 1: feel like. He was trying to give somebody a haircut,
- 14:15Speaker 1: pay for some people to do this, pay for this,
- 14:17Speaker 1: pay for that, bought the whole the complex of the
- 14:21Speaker 1: things that I just think that sometimes when you grow
- 14:25Speaker 1: up in those confines, like as you're coming up, you
- 14:28Speaker 1: need to see somebody like Nip in the hood telling you, yeah, yeah,
- 14:32Speaker 1: don't do that. Stay in school. You know what I'm saying.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Hit that, hit that basketball court, hit that football field.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Sometimes I think if Nip wasn't there, or if he's
- 14:41Speaker 1: really there, who they're gonna look to. They're gonna look
- 14:44Speaker 1: to the game banger, you should look You should be
- 14:47Speaker 1: able to see somebody because you know, ship, Lebron ain't
- 14:50Speaker 1: pulling up, Kobe ain't pulling up. Went back to school,
- 14:54Speaker 1: but that's what Yeah, but he ain't pulling up. Okay,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I get it, I get it. But you know, it's like,
- 15:01Speaker 1: you have to be able to be available for your
- 15:03Speaker 1: people at all times. However your however far your trajectory goes.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And that's that's a fact. And I am not saying
- 15:10Speaker 1: leave your people behind. I am saying you get to
- 15:13Speaker 1: a point in life where you can financially do things
- 15:16Speaker 1: because see what people don't realize, it's time is necessary.
- 15:19Speaker 1: We have to do that as our responsibility, right. But
- 15:22Speaker 1: like Suth said, you're going in, you're doing your business.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You protected, you're getting the message. But more than importantly,
- 15:28Speaker 1: I just bought this section of the hood and it's
- 15:30Speaker 1: gonna be a better place. Lebron James, I'm going back
- 15:33Speaker 1: to accurate it's poverty everywhere. I'm doing a school forever
- 15:37Speaker 1: that's gonna be here. So my point is like that's
- 15:40Speaker 1: what we gotta do. And it was working. And it
- 15:42Speaker 1: wasn't financially that he can go just open schools and
- 15:44Speaker 1: do that type of ship, but he was big enough
- 15:46Speaker 1: where this type of ship could happen. He absolutely did
- 15:50Speaker 1: his part. Hope and pray that whoever was was fortunate
- 15:55Speaker 1: enough to be in the neighborhood whenever he pulled up
- 15:58Speaker 1: and gave his random speeches or words of wisdom. I
- 16:01Speaker 1: hope that you feel inspired enough to keep it going.
- 16:03Speaker 1: I hope that you don't go back to maybe how
- 16:06Speaker 1: you used to act before you met nip Or. I
- 16:08Speaker 1: just hope you continue to take all the lessons he
- 16:10Speaker 1: gave and grow because what we have is proof of
- 16:14Speaker 1: all of everything, he said. We have amazing videos and
- 16:17Speaker 1: content that we can go back and listen to these
- 16:19Speaker 1: words over and over and over again and implying them
- 16:21Speaker 1: into our everyday lives. And that's what's going to change
- 16:23Speaker 1: the community. Somebody practicing what they preach. And if you
- 16:26Speaker 1: look at those videos she mentioned, you see him high
- 16:30Speaker 1: back and listen to listen. This is he was high
- 16:33Speaker 1: saying those things. He was nappy braised the whole ship,
- 16:36Speaker 1: but he was talking about empowerment. He was talking about
- 16:38Speaker 1: changing the trajectory of the thought process of all of that.
- 16:42Speaker 1: And so that's the point. You can be gang affiliated,
- 16:46Speaker 1: smoke weed, you can come from the hood, but you
- 16:48Speaker 1: can still buy businesses on property heat all his own music,
- 16:52Speaker 1: like come on, man, like, yeah, real entrepreneur and got
- 16:56Speaker 1: it from them. And you gotta respect her a true leader.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And if any body downs, like yeah, just shoot yoursel. Yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: But hey, we're gonna talk about hate a little bit more.
- 17:06Speaker 1: But I want to talk about these uh, these nip um,
- 17:10Speaker 1: these nip tips, I'm gonna call them nip tips. And
- 17:13Speaker 1: this seven Money and Ownership lessons by Nipsey Hustle Number
- 17:18Speaker 1: one on hustle anomics. You learn all the secrets to
- 17:21Speaker 1: the game on your way up. Most folks want to
- 17:23Speaker 1: skip the process, but when you skip the steps, you
- 17:26Speaker 1: miss the lessons. Number two on turn up versus own up.
- 17:31Speaker 1: It isn't cool to be in the club spending all
- 17:34Speaker 1: of your money or having cars and jewelry, but you
- 17:36Speaker 1: don't own any real estate a for plex. If the
- 17:40Speaker 1: answer is no, you're not a real hustler. Number three entrepreneurship.
- 17:44Speaker 1: The new mindset is we don't I'm sorry. The new
- 17:47Speaker 1: mindset is that we don't uh want advances, we want equity.
- 17:53Speaker 1: We don't want one of one off endorsements, we want
- 17:56Speaker 1: ownership love Number three. Number four black cat bis models
- 18:01Speaker 1: are built around our culture currency. They developed the platform,
- 18:05Speaker 1: implement structure, and bring us to raise value. That's very important.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Don't let them just yeah, man, come on the number
- 18:15Speaker 1: five on breaking the chains on the supply chain from
- 18:18Speaker 1: production to consumption. People take shots to jay Z, but
- 18:22Speaker 1: he's the first black artist to have a vertically integrated
- 18:24Speaker 1: business model where he owns the whole chain. These are
- 18:28Speaker 1: these are nips words, by the way um Number six
- 18:31Speaker 1: on creating value. I released one mixtapes in charge a
- 18:36Speaker 1: thousand for each because I understood the economic principle of
- 18:41Speaker 1: uh scarcity. The profit funded my independent label number seven
- 18:47Speaker 1: on owning real estate, I owned the block rights to
- 18:50Speaker 1: hustle from eight am to ten pm. I hustled, then
- 18:53Speaker 1: I rent it now. Me and David Gross will own
- 18:56Speaker 1: and Crenshaw. And these are like tips. He was just
- 18:59Speaker 1: throwing out there, like of his process, and that's amazing,
- 19:05Speaker 1: man like, but if you really thought about it. I
- 19:07Speaker 1: was having a conversation the other day and they were
- 19:09Speaker 1: like the difference between billionaires and millionaires. Billionaires think of
- 19:16Speaker 1: something to consume that a billion people need. Millionaires think
- 19:21Speaker 1: of things that a million you know what I mean.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And that's so forth and so on. I think that
- 19:25Speaker 1: that's so real. That's so real. If you think about Apple,
- 19:29Speaker 1: the reason why they have more money than God is
- 19:32Speaker 1: because no one can do without this on Earth. If
- 19:38Speaker 1: you're anywhere in the mobile culture we live in, you
- 19:43Speaker 1: gotta have a phone, you know. And I think that
- 19:47Speaker 1: that's what the brilliance of Nipsey was. You know what
- 19:51Speaker 1: I'm saying. I understand the value of my my, my,
- 19:53Speaker 1: my prophetic ability. Like I am a prophet, I speak
- 19:57Speaker 1: to a certain person that's gonna take this that. And
- 20:00Speaker 1: as he grew like because when he started like it
- 20:02Speaker 1: was like I'm a I'm a I'm a crip. Then
- 20:05Speaker 1: he was like, nah, my heritage from a retrio. Like
- 20:07Speaker 1: I just stand and thought, okay, boom, I'm gonna own
- 20:10Speaker 1: this Pennis, I'm gonna presitor. And it was just such
- 20:12Speaker 1: a beautiful transition in his trajectory every every at every corner,
- 20:19Speaker 1: and I just you know, I feel like we just
- 20:21Speaker 1: get into this bag of like we gotta be one way,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you know what I mean, we gotta be one way.
- 20:26Speaker 1: We gotta do one thing, and he was a prime
- 20:27Speaker 1: example that we could do multiple things. But I think
- 20:29Speaker 1: this seven step process man was so jenous and if
- 20:33Speaker 1: you just took it literally, because he wasn't saying big words,
- 20:36Speaker 1: I mean, scarcity was only where he was speaking to us,
- 20:38Speaker 1: like you mean, he was speaking in a way that
- 20:40Speaker 1: he felt the people that he needed to influence the
- 20:44Speaker 1: most would understand. I feel like I think because you know,
- 20:47Speaker 1: he was an own gang member, he wanted to really
- 20:50Speaker 1: talk to them and it could be the way that
- 20:53Speaker 1: he knows this. Yeah, it's just sad man because it's
- 20:58Speaker 1: a perpetual cycle, man, And I think that we just
- 21:00Speaker 1: have to know that this is my brother, this is
- 21:03Speaker 1: my sister, and whatever happens, it has to be whole,
- 21:06Speaker 1: Like you know what I'm saying, Like we gotta look
- 21:08Speaker 1: out for each other. We can't be out here like
- 21:10Speaker 1: and I know a lot of people's first nature is
- 21:12Speaker 1: to help. But then you look at these videos of
- 21:14Speaker 1: people taping people getting punched in the face and old ladies.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I don't get the ladies said I'm gonna blow the
- 21:19Speaker 1: train unless you saw I think you're gonna kick the lady.
- 21:21Speaker 1: And I mean, it's just it's just the non compassion
- 21:25Speaker 1: for our own culture is disturbing. It is disturbing to
- 21:29Speaker 1: see all this continuous violence amongst each other. Also prayers
- 21:35Speaker 1: and condolences to Law in London and on the whole
- 21:39Speaker 1: Nipsey family. You know, you can definitely you know what
- 21:44Speaker 1: I'm saying. I know she's probably going through it right now.
- 21:48Speaker 1: I mean that that's been a major like ourtpour all
- 21:51Speaker 1: over social media. Um, so many Ethiopians and Eritreans, like
- 21:55Speaker 1: really popular accounts actually have Um you guys know Lola Monroe, Um,
- 22:00Speaker 1: she's at I am Queen Row on Instagram and she said,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I'm tired of seeing black men dying. I'm tired of
- 22:05Speaker 1: seeing how much black men have to fight for their lives.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I'm tired of seeing black men beating the odds, doing
- 22:10Speaker 1: good just for their lives to be taken. She said
- 22:12Speaker 1: so much prior to that about like how he was
- 22:14Speaker 1: one of the first people to embrace her as a rapper,
- 22:16Speaker 1: even when it wasn't popular. You guys know, like she
- 22:18Speaker 1: came from music videos and you know, she she's had
- 22:21Speaker 1: her thing, and at that time people were really I
- 22:24Speaker 1: feel like trying to trying to block her, like oh,
- 22:27Speaker 1: and I'm so understanding of that, especially being Habish, Like
- 22:31Speaker 1: we're not we're not raised to be entertainers. We're not
- 22:34Speaker 1: raised to be in media. We are raised to be doctors, lawyers,
- 22:39Speaker 1: something like that. So you already have this cultural thing
- 22:41Speaker 1: in the background that's tugging at you like hey, no,
- 22:44Speaker 1: we want you to go this way. But then when
- 22:46Speaker 1: you have somebody in the industry, like a Nipsey Hustle
- 22:49Speaker 1: telling you asis like go ahead, you got it, like
- 22:52Speaker 1: pushed through our culture will will love you regardless, Like
- 22:55Speaker 1: I could not even imagine what their relationship was like
- 22:58Speaker 1: or what even that just little interaction was because I
- 23:01Speaker 1: was really hoping to work with him and meet him
- 23:03Speaker 1: at some point, and I really just felt like, um well,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I just felt like culturally we would connect. I felt
- 23:09Speaker 1: like it would be an amazing interview. I felt like
- 23:11Speaker 1: it would be super easy and just genuine. I really
- 23:15Speaker 1: felt like because of our background, he would just kind
- 23:17Speaker 1: of take that big brother role and kind of navigate
- 23:20Speaker 1: me or helped me through some stuff. Um, I thought
- 23:23Speaker 1: we'd be going to an Ethiopian restaurant or eritrean restaurant
- 23:25Speaker 1: in l A. Like. I just really had this whole
- 23:27Speaker 1: vision of what our relationship would be like had we
- 23:30Speaker 1: ever met, and I knew that I'd be able to
- 23:33Speaker 1: talk to him about Man, how was it with your parents?
- 23:35Speaker 1: Like did your parents allow you to do this? Like
- 23:37Speaker 1: were they supportive? Like it it's such a big thing
- 23:40Speaker 1: to see someone in the habit of community do what
- 23:42Speaker 1: he's doing, you know, or do what he's done, So
- 23:46Speaker 1: it's it's a big loss. Um there's other like really
- 23:48Speaker 1: popular habitsha account sell I'm Central said he represented what
- 23:51Speaker 1: a true leader was instead of selling out. He constantly
- 23:54Speaker 1: found ways to funnel his money and uplift his people
- 23:56Speaker 1: in community. He actually took a trip to Eritrea last year,
- 23:59Speaker 1: which was like publicized, Like I remember just seeing so
- 24:02Speaker 1: many people repost this image of him like in the village.
- 24:05Speaker 1: He if you look in the background of the photo,
- 24:07Speaker 1: you're you don't see buildings, you don't see mansions, you
- 24:10Speaker 1: see farmland. You know, you see hills and plateaus, and
- 24:14Speaker 1: and me seeing that, I was like, wow, like I've
- 24:19Speaker 1: been there, you know what I'm saying, Like not Terry Tree,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I've been to Ethiopia, but I've been in that setting.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You know, my grandmother lives in a mud hut, just
- 24:26Speaker 1: just like yeah, like I have family that still lives
- 24:28Speaker 1: in mud huts. And I just cannot explain what our
- 24:33Speaker 1: culture like when whenever we know somebody that's from like
- 24:36Speaker 1: whenever we know someone of our culture, someone who's doing something,
- 24:40Speaker 1: we just have this bond. Like you might see somebody
- 24:42Speaker 1: in the grocery store and if you could tell their habbit,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you're gonna say, hello, that's just we are very Yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 1: we're just a very close culture. We're very compassionate, we're
- 24:51Speaker 1: very we just love peace and love and the entire
- 24:56Speaker 1: community is messed up over this the entire even if
- 25:00Speaker 1: even the people that did not listen to him, even
- 25:01Speaker 1: the old heads who didn't understand him, they understood, Yeah,
- 25:05Speaker 1: they understood what what he poured into us. They didn't
- 25:08Speaker 1: listen to his music, but they definitely understood what he
- 25:11Speaker 1: was doing for the community. And everybody is taking a hit.
- 25:14Speaker 1: There's actually like um hasan is what we call in
- 25:18Speaker 1: our culture where if someone passes, everybody comes together and more.
- 25:20Speaker 1: You don't let the person like Lauren London should not
- 25:23Speaker 1: be alone, like in American culture. Sometimes you're like, hey,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I need I need my space and our culture. We're
- 25:29Speaker 1: not leaving you alone for seven days, like we're going
- 25:30Speaker 1: to cry with you. Every time you cry, We're going
- 25:33Speaker 1: to feed you, We're bringing refreshments to your home, like
- 25:36Speaker 1: it's it's a we cried together. And as a kid,
- 25:40Speaker 1: I used to think it was torture, Like I used
- 25:42Speaker 1: to hate being there because the room would be quiet
- 25:45Speaker 1: and then someone knew would walk in and they start crying.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Next thing, you know what, everyone starts crying again, And
- 25:50Speaker 1: I thought that was torture. But then at the end
- 25:52Speaker 1: of the seven days, you feel so much love and
- 25:55Speaker 1: so much relief, and like you got so much of
- 25:56Speaker 1: the grief out. It's a beautiful culture and they're they're
- 25:59Speaker 1: actually doing something like that here in Atlanta at the
- 26:01Speaker 1: Eritrean Community Center and um Stone Mountains. So yeah, I'm
- 26:06Speaker 1: definitely going. You know, Nipsey always was in Atlanta too,
- 26:09Speaker 1: because because of the culture here in Atlanta. Always I
- 26:13Speaker 1: met him about four or five times, so um at
- 26:15Speaker 1: any time I spoke to him, it was a good convo.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Good dude, good energy, like palms are sweating, just like
- 26:22Speaker 1: thinking about the Hazan and and all these candle lit visuals.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Dj Era I spoke to him earlier, grew up in
- 26:29Speaker 1: the same place, and I had to call him and
- 26:32Speaker 1: check on him because he just posted. He was posting
- 26:34Speaker 1: so many photos of him and Nipsey and how his
- 26:38Speaker 1: first job was associated to working with Nipsey. And I
- 26:42Speaker 1: cannot believe how many people locally are affected by him.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I don't think I've seen I don't think I've seen
- 26:48Speaker 1: this kind of outpour in celebration with pictures and and
- 26:52Speaker 1: all these in a while, Yeah, I wanted, yeah, I
- 26:56Speaker 1: had to say. I had to say because you know,
- 26:57Speaker 1: sometimes when people die, I had I've just been surround
- 27:00Speaker 1: about death since I was a kid. A lot of
- 27:02Speaker 1: my friends passed away, Like my best friend got hit
- 27:04Speaker 1: by a car in front of me and died in
- 27:06Speaker 1: front of me, like, um, like he was there. He
- 27:08Speaker 1: was on the machine for like four days after that.
- 27:11Speaker 1: But I just, you know, when people die kind of
- 27:14Speaker 1: just get quiet. I don't know how to react, but
- 27:17Speaker 1: I had to say something because the energy I met
- 27:20Speaker 1: when you know, it's just an energy thing. You can't
- 27:22Speaker 1: explain energy, you know what I'm saying. And every time
- 27:24Speaker 1: we you know, it was it wasn't long either. You know,
- 27:26Speaker 1: I'm not gonna be claiming and said that we were
- 27:28Speaker 1: super cool or anything like that, but you know he
- 27:30Speaker 1: was by the fourth time I met, he was like,
- 27:32Speaker 1: all right, what up. I'm like, damn, you know my name? Cool? Cool, Cool,
- 27:35Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, Like it's just good energy.
- 27:38Speaker 1: You could feel the frequency between people too. That's how
- 27:41Speaker 1: That's why I was saying, like he can be in
- 27:45Speaker 1: those areas because it's kind of like, oh, that's nip.
- 27:48Speaker 1: You don't with nip. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 27:53Speaker 1: I'm through here, I'm coming through here, like I'm trying
- 27:56Speaker 1: to make sure that everything good around here. You know
- 27:58Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Who want to do that to him?
- 28:00Speaker 1: People don't like that. That's why I said. As soon
- 28:02Speaker 1: as I heard, I said, oh man, it's about to
- 28:04Speaker 1: go down. Yeah, yeah, I heard summer was canceled. And yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 1: now it's just it's just it's you know what it is. Man,
- 28:15Speaker 1: I think too, and we should all give our like
- 28:17Speaker 1: closing remarks so we can um let this rest. But
- 28:21Speaker 1: you know, to your point though, I think that you know,
- 28:24Speaker 1: when you have a light, it blinds people. You know
- 28:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying. His light was so bright, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 1: and it was genuine and it was not confrontational. It
- 28:35Speaker 1: was it was you know, and to be a game member.
- 28:38Speaker 1: And it's you know, enormous figure because he was six
- 28:40Speaker 1: five damn there six whatever it was. You know, he
- 28:44Speaker 1: had presence. He walked into the room, you knew he
- 28:46Speaker 1: was there. And when he spoke, he spoke volumes. And
- 28:49Speaker 1: I think that the end of the day that intimidates people.
- 28:51Speaker 1: And it's sad that it does, because you know, if
- 28:53Speaker 1: you would listen to his songs, you know, I mean,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I'm just I'm listening this morning, Like I pulled up,
- 28:58Speaker 1: you got in the car, I'm banging. I just I
- 29:00Speaker 1: just wanted to remind myself of why, you know what
- 29:03Speaker 1: I'm saying, I fell in love, would do it as
- 29:04Speaker 1: an artist, you know what I'm saying. Then that also
- 29:07Speaker 1: amplified how I got to know him and how we
- 29:10Speaker 1: got into making money together. And that's then a third
- 29:12Speaker 1: But I think, you know, ultimately, and I want you
- 29:14Speaker 1: guys to leave, you know, your final thoughts on it,
- 29:17Speaker 1: But ultimately we got to come together, and it has
- 29:20Speaker 1: to be more than you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 29:23Speaker 1: it has to be more than I like their music,
- 29:26Speaker 1: like I'm here for the music. No, this is a
- 29:29Speaker 1: human being with a family. But let's let's let's close
- 29:32Speaker 1: out and get his man d I just hope this
- 29:35Speaker 1: is an example to the youth that you shouldn't take
- 29:39Speaker 1: life for granted. UM. You know, my condolences to Nipsey Hustle,
- 29:44Speaker 1: his family, his beautiful kids. Um. You know, maybe you
- 29:49Speaker 1: may recipes and I hope that we can, you know
- 29:51Speaker 1: what I'm saying, band together as as a culture, not
- 29:54Speaker 1: just only the black community. I just think as a
- 29:57Speaker 1: culture too, because he was so culturally defined and you know,
- 30:01Speaker 1: white kids black kids, all types of kids listened to
- 30:05Speaker 1: his music, and he had he had a real message
- 30:08Speaker 1: in his music, Like if you really listen to Nipsey Hustle,
- 30:11Speaker 1: he had a message in his music and he would
- 30:14Speaker 1: tell He would tell you like, yeah, you come across
- 30:17Speaker 1: this line, If you come across this line, something that
- 30:19Speaker 1: happened to you, or you can make it out and
- 30:20Speaker 1: be like me like I always felt, you know, goose
- 30:24Speaker 1: Bumps and his music, and I really appreciate this last
- 30:28Speaker 1: piece of work that he dropped. He just dropped the
- 30:30Speaker 1: song with Roddy Rich that's hard. And when I was
- 30:33Speaker 1: watching the video like four days ago, I felt every
- 30:37Speaker 1: because he's talking about life and death. But this like
- 30:42Speaker 1: a couple of days ago, I just I was like, damn,
- 30:44Speaker 1: he's speaking some ship like he always do. You know
- 30:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, I just hate when people of
- 30:51Speaker 1: his stature are taken away from us before his time.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I just felt like it wasn't his time, you know
- 30:56Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like that's kind of why I walked in.
- 30:58Speaker 1: He was like, what's wrong. I just felt like it
- 31:00Speaker 1: wasn't his time. He still had a message, you know,
- 31:02Speaker 1: And then like him and Lauren London is a beautiful couple.
- 31:05Speaker 1: It just took a photo shoot and Sauce and too
- 31:08Speaker 1: that grew up together that photos. You know what I'm saying.
- 31:11Speaker 1: They did a g Q photo shoot. They was they
- 31:13Speaker 1: just did a little couples um thing on YouTube that's
- 31:17Speaker 1: super funny and super dope where Lawrence asking him questions.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I just like, you know what I'm saying, Like like
- 31:23Speaker 1: that man, Like that's like you know what I'm saying.
- 31:26Speaker 1: You can't get that back. You know what I'm saying,
- 31:28Speaker 1: This kid's gonna grow up. He can't get that time
- 31:30Speaker 1: better what I'm saying, you can't get that back. So
- 31:33Speaker 1: you know that's all I got to say. Um, I
- 31:36Speaker 1: hope that I can speak for the entire Habbitshot community,
- 31:39Speaker 1: like whether you're Ethiopian or Eritrean. But um Nipsey Hustle
- 31:42Speaker 1: added me, asked, I mean he really inspired so many
- 31:46Speaker 1: of us that are creative and want to be entertainment
- 31:50Speaker 1: or just want to be different, whether it's tattoos, the
- 31:52Speaker 1: way you wear your hair, the people you date, who
- 31:54Speaker 1: you fall in love with. Like he was a true
- 31:56Speaker 1: representation of you can just be who you are. I
- 32:00Speaker 1: can respect my culture. I can respect my parents. I
- 32:03Speaker 1: can make them proud, even though I may go off
- 32:06Speaker 1: the path that they chose for me. So I'm so
- 32:09Speaker 1: grateful for you and everything that you've done for our community,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and I pray that we can uplift you and continue
- 32:15Speaker 1: to ride with you. That was dope. Um. There will
- 32:18Speaker 1: be no confuterus Uh says today. But I do want
- 32:22Speaker 1: to say this is all so contradictory. I mean, you
- 32:25Speaker 1: here here, you have this young man who spoke all
- 32:29Speaker 1: the you know, stereotypical things and his music, but I
- 32:32Speaker 1: think it was overshadowed by his true message. And when
- 32:35Speaker 1: you have an opportunity to get right, um, and you do,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you get right, you practice, you start practicing what you preach,
- 32:44Speaker 1: and all the things that were, you know, holding you down,
- 32:48Speaker 1: so to speak, like the thought that you had to
- 32:49Speaker 1: be down with these people in your neighborhood because that
- 32:52Speaker 1: was the thing that was supposed to be. And you know,
- 32:54Speaker 1: I'm supposed to riding this car, this dude that's going
- 32:57Speaker 1: to do this crime because at the end of that's
- 32:59Speaker 1: my partner or whatever that is. I think Nip broke
- 33:04Speaker 1: away those chains and by doing so, he inspired many.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Um and I did a post that said, the streets
- 33:11Speaker 1: don't love you like you think they do. And it's
- 33:14Speaker 1: the real ship ever, because you know, we are the
- 33:16Speaker 1: most crab and the barrel mentality when it comes to
- 33:21Speaker 1: culture like ever, and we have to stop. We have
- 33:25Speaker 1: to stop. We can no longer continue to put each
- 33:27Speaker 1: other down like this, put each other in boxes like this,
- 33:31Speaker 1: like this is so permanent. This is so permanent. And
- 33:35Speaker 1: if you ask half the killers out there to do
- 33:37Speaker 1: this ship after, it's like a blink, like they don't
- 33:41Speaker 1: even know why or they feel bad. And my thing
- 33:44Speaker 1: is like, it don't even have to be that. When
- 33:47Speaker 1: when last time you thought somebody you ain't like all
- 33:50Speaker 1: you professed killers and gangster like, what happened to a
- 33:53Speaker 1: fair one you don't like? Somebody knock them out? You
- 33:58Speaker 1: ain't gotta kill him. This as gone forever. He leaves
- 34:01Speaker 1: behind two children and adoring wife as far as I'm concerned,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and they will never know his true potential. So I
- 34:11Speaker 1: I promise you, Balling Nation, this is something that as
- 34:13Speaker 1: a community, everything we talked about today, it's important that we,
- 34:17Speaker 1: you know, go back and reflect. Yes, he said things
- 34:20Speaker 1: early on in his career that he didn't but he
- 34:22Speaker 1: finished the way he was supposed to finish. His legacy
- 34:25Speaker 1: is complete. I know there was more, but it's complete.
- 34:29Speaker 1: And that's you know, you can't say that about everybody
- 34:32Speaker 1: that's out here, still breathing, that does way more bullshit
- 34:36Speaker 1: than not. So um go forth, Balling Nation, be kind
- 34:39Speaker 1: of one another. We'll see y'all next time piece. It's
- 34:45Speaker 1: Will
