- 0:02Hello and welcome to He's hot but something's off.
- 0:07OK, Still learning to fade out the music after a million
- 0:11episodes. It's 67° in the room right now.
- 0:17I just recorded the Gay Koutsen Travel podcast, which went up
- 0:22last night. And in the winter when I do need
- 0:27to run the heat sometimes. And I did record a podcast
- 0:32because my HVAC unit is super loud and I don't want it running
- 0:37when I'm recording. Like I have a podcast mic which
- 0:40should cancel out most of the noise.
- 0:41But The thing is it's so loud that it might wreck the
- 0:45recording. I was recording the other one
- 0:47and I ate lunch right before that other recording earlier
- 0:50today and even had a little soup to warm me up.
- 0:53I have my jacket on and just eating food.
- 0:57The act of eating a bunch of food warms me up.
- 0:59And my jacket on I had some warm soup.
- 1:02It was like it was a hot lunch and I did have the heat set on.
- 1:0769 is what I usually said, not because it's the 69, it's just
- 1:10because that's the minimum temperature where I can feel
- 1:14where I can stop feeling frigid cold.
- 1:18Normal people set it to like 72. Look, if I didn't care about my
- 1:24utility bills, it will be set to 75 probably like 737475 anyways,
- 1:31but I because I do have to pay my bills, it's 69 and I just
- 1:35like sweatpants, put on layers, put on a jacket and that's fine.
- 1:39But I was recording If you're watching the video version as
- 1:41you should be doing, this is a new sleeveless tee that I just
- 1:45recently got. I actually wore it on the cruise
- 1:47for the first time and it's now my Symphony 2026 cruise shirt.
- 1:52It reminds me of our cruise, but it's the first time I wore it
- 1:54and I actually really like this shirt.
- 1:56But anyways, I recorded that podcast.
- 1:58I was still warm, and when I'm recording, I don't feel that I'm
- 2:01cold as much. And after I recorded it, I
- 2:05wanted to upload it right away. So I went into my office, Edit,
- 2:09edit, edit. And then I had a client
- 2:11messaging me about something. So I was like talking to the
- 2:12client while all that was going the the the HVAC wasn't running
- 2:17besides shut off the HVAC while I was recording that episode.
- 2:20So like it was on and I was eating lunch and I turned it off
- 2:25to do the recording. And then when I was editing, I
- 2:27didn't turn the heat back on. And now that I'm recording this
- 2:30episode, by the time I started recording this, it was like it
- 2:33was 67° and cooling in the living room.
- 2:37That was not helpful information for any of you, but it is what
- 2:40it is. How are you doing today?
- 2:42How are all of you out there in Internet land?
- 2:46I don't have any like super. I mean, I always have something
- 2:49to talk about. Don't die.
- 2:52I always have something to talk about.
- 2:53Well, actually, you know, even if you're not that that
- 2:57interested in like the cruises and all that kind of stuff, I
- 3:01would recommend just go listen to the last 10 minutes of the
- 3:06gay crews and travel podcast episode that just came out
- 3:09yesterday. Just the last, I think about 8
- 3:12or 10 minutes, but I was I was slightly reading someone so that
- 3:18that's that'll be interesting. Even this the whole the whole
- 3:20thing is like 45 or 50 minutes. You don't need to sift through
- 3:22the entire thing. You don't want to.
- 3:24But the last 8 or 10 minutes there, there's some good bits in
- 3:27there. Plug for my Patreon and I just
- 3:31uploaded a poll to my Patreon just for my top tier OPA
- 3:36subscribers with only those subscribers get to have a live
- 3:41monthly live stream with me and every month I do a little poll
- 3:46for them for that live stream to basically get their
- 3:49availability. Like hey, which days and what
- 3:51times work best for you? And then whichever day and time
- 3:56guess the most votes. Then I try to have the live
- 3:59stream on that particular date and time.
- 4:03And also all the live streams are recorded.
- 4:06So if you subscribe to my Patreon, I say OPA right now.
- 4:10Not only would you get to participate in the upcoming live
- 4:15stream and you will also get to vote in the poll to help decide
- 4:19a time that work better for you and also all the other Opas, but
- 4:22you can actually watch all the previous live streams that I
- 4:25did. The live streams tend to go for
- 4:28anywhere from like 45 minutes, 45 minutes to an hour.
- 4:31And obviously your access to like all the other content that
- 4:35all the other Patreon survivors get, like all my travel vlogs,
- 4:38all the previous uncut page on exclusive episode.
- 4:42By the way, the last uncut. Can we talk about that?
- 4:45It's also a Patreon exclusive. Every Patreon tear gets the
- 4:49extra uncut podcast episodes that are released every weekend.
- 4:52It was I got a lot of comments on that episode where I was
- 4:56talking about the couple of guys.
- 4:58I went into detail, man. I went into details guys on like
- 5:03some of the guys, just a couple that I met on the cruise, but it
- 5:08was only within the secure electric fence of the Patreon
- 5:16paywall. Can I really let that?
- 5:20Can I do that much kissing and telling?
- 5:23I can't kiss and tell on this. That goes on to the public
- 5:26Internet. It goes on to my YouTube
- 5:28channel. It goes on to all the podcast
- 5:31platforms unrestricted. I can't do that.
- 5:36So not only does your, you know, like 3 like what $0.30 a day?
- 5:43Well, it's like $0.03 a day. It's $3 for the entry level tier
- 5:47on Patreon. So for a month, 3 bucks a month.
- 5:51That's is that how many cents a day is that 33 / 30?
- 5:58Oh, that's like $0.10 a day, right?
- 6:01I didn't school, I didn't go to school for math, but yeah, for
- 6:04$0.10 a day, that's the type of content you can have access to.
- 6:09So please sponsor me for Tencent.
- 6:12You know those old commercial that's like you can sponsor
- 6:14anyways, Like let's not go there and get ugly.
- 6:17I don't have anything super special to talk about.
- 6:20I know sometimes I run my mouth, but this is going to be one of
- 6:22those very like casual, go with the flow HHHBSO episodes.
- 6:30I know the last one that I did was like a little intense.
- 6:34The one that I did right before the cruise, that one was a
- 6:36little intense. So we're just going to lighten
- 6:38it up. Something I randomly thought of,
- 6:43which I forgot what it was, that made me think about this, how
- 6:46different generations have like different trends that they
- 6:52experience. And I'm of a certain age where I
- 6:56don't get the 6-7 trend. I was up in Vancouver in this
- 7:02was like December, I was last in December visiting family in
- 7:08Vancouver and we were at a family dinner and my niece and
- 7:10nephew were there and my niece and nephew, there are four and
- 7:13nine. And you know, that's obviously
- 7:16like that's what 2 generations down from me.
- 7:19The, the Gen. Z ers are just starting to get
- 7:25into the workplace. Like the, I think the more the
- 7:27older members of Gen. Z are what, in their early mid
- 7:3120s now, something like that early 20s.
- 7:34And obviously for like the, the elementary school kids, they're
- 7:38like 1. I think they're one generation
- 7:40below. What do we call it a generation?
- 7:41I've got no idea. But they're in on a six seven
- 7:43thing only because obviously all their classmates are doing that
- 7:46thing. And I didn't know about it until
- 7:48they like mentioned it, but they weren't mentioning it.
- 7:51They weren't explaining it to me, but like they were just like
- 7:54doing it, the family dinner and obviously like no one else at
- 7:59the table got it because I'm the next youngest amongst all the
- 8:04people that were they. But it's like my brother and my
- 8:06sister are both older than me. Obviously my my stepbrother who
- 8:14are like the, the dad of the kids, like he doesn't get it,
- 8:17but he's older. Obviously my mom's older and you
- 8:21know that that was and it was me and then like my niece and
- 8:23nephew. So I obviously I'm like 2
- 8:26generations removed from them. I've no idea what it means.
- 8:29I had to Google it. That's how old I am.
- 8:32But you know, every generation has kind of like their thing.
- 8:35And I remember when I was, when I first started Google, this was
- 8:39like when I was like in my early 20s and I was in, I worked for,
- 8:45I worked in it with Google because I was in it.
- 8:47And we had this thing called OTP, which stands for one time
- 8:51password. You know that thing sometimes
- 8:53when you log into something and then they have to text you a 6
- 8:57digit number or they have to e-mail you a 6 digit number and
- 8:59you have to like copy and paste that in.
- 9:03Sometimes that's called a one time password.
- 9:06There's different things that it's called by different people.
- 9:08It's more commonly called 2 step or two factor authentication
- 9:12nowadays. But, you know, internally at
- 9:14some companies, the corporate term was OTP.
- 9:17And, you know, when I was in my 20s doing that job like OTP was,
- 9:23it just meant one time passage didn't have any other
- 9:24connotation. But we had some, we're all like
- 9:27new grads, right? We're all fresh out of college.
- 9:29And we obviously had people that are like our managers or
- 9:33supervisors, like our mentors. And they were like a little
- 9:36older than us. Obviously they were not fresh
- 9:38out of college. They were like real adults or
- 9:40real experience. And then they're like, yeah,
- 9:42OTP. You know me like, and I didn't
- 9:44get that. We we didn't get that reference.
- 9:47We just completely do not. I don't even fully know what it
- 9:49means now, but I remember the look on their face like where
- 9:52they like try to like throw that in.
- 9:53And then we're all just like blank face, like we're all like
- 9:552324 sitting. And I was like, what?
- 9:59We just have no idea what they're talking about.
- 10:01So it's the same. It is with like the six seven
- 10:03thing. Anyways, I don't know why I'm
- 10:05randomly talking about this. Maybe because it was like
- 10:09somewhat, well, not even that recently my birthday.
- 10:13So, Oh, by the way, why does it, why is it that companies need to
- 10:18text and e-mail me to wish me a happy birthday, but I didn't
- 10:23give you my birthday out of the kindness of my heart?
- 10:27It's because I kind of had to because I rented a car from you.
- 10:30So you had to know my birthday was I flew on your airline once
- 10:34and you only had my birthday, but you had to.
- 10:36I didn't give you my birthday so that you can spam me with like,
- 10:42do you really think, do you really think JetBlue is sending
- 10:46me an e-mail of the goodness of their hearts just so I would
- 10:52feel a little better on my birthday?
- 10:55Like, do I really need a big corporation to wish me happy
- 11:00birthday? Really.
- 11:02So that that was like a a weird thing.
- 11:05Anyways, let's grab. Do we have nothing to talk about
- 11:11today? This is the first time where
- 11:14it's not that I don't have anything to talk about.
- 11:16I think it's just been a busy day for me.
- 11:19So like, I'm not, it's not that I'm not in the podcast mood.
- 11:22I am in a talkative mood. But like I don't have an outline
- 11:26and I don't write things usually.
- 11:29Sometimes, well, sometimes I come with a topic because
- 11:32something is already on my mind. It's just one of those days
- 11:34where I just didn't have. And it's dangerous for me to run
- 11:37my mouth on days like this completely unfiltered because I
- 11:42will start ranting and ranting is not attractive.
- 11:45Like there's so many things I can bitch about.
- 11:47Are you kidding me? There's so many things.
- 11:49I mean, that's why you should watch the the last 8 or 10
- 11:51minutes of the gay ghost travel podcast episode that I uploaded
- 11:54yesterday. But I Wrestleman for.
- 11:56But they someone again came into my YouTube comment section.
- 12:02This guy was not that bad. This person wasn't that bad.
- 12:05But if you had to come into my YouTube session and leave those
- 12:07comments, I will rate you on my YouTube.
- 12:12So there you go. OK, let's turn to the good book
- 12:163000 questions about me. Because I think this one of the
- 12:18reasons I got the book is because I think it's just
- 12:22sometimes these questions are great conversation starters.
- 12:25I'm going to start earmarking some of these, but someone
- 12:28actually suggested to me like, you should write these down.
- 12:30I'm like, I'm too lazy for that. OK, Question 2430.
- 12:36We're going to have a light episode today.
- 12:37OK, it it won't be me talking about before 40 minutes.
- 12:41Just be thankful for that. Question 2431, how fast can you
- 12:45get changed? Now, there's a critical
- 12:47difference there. How fast can you get ready and
- 12:50how fast can you get changed is different.
- 12:54Getting ready is like OK, like you need to like wash your face,
- 12:58you need to brush your teeth, you need to like do your hair,
- 13:00you need, you know, whatever, take a quick shower, whatever
- 13:02that is. Getting change just changing
- 13:04clothes and it's literally like a 32nd operation with me.
- 13:08It's like if I already know what clothes I need to wear is very
- 13:11fast, like 20 seconds, 30 seconds done.
- 13:13It's like clothes off, clothes on.
- 13:16It's very, very easy. My closet is all it is 90%
- 13:23T-shirts and tank tops, literally 95.
- 13:27There is a very small selection of there's like a couple of
- 13:33polos in there. I the polos are not there
- 13:36because I like polos. Polos are there because once in
- 13:40a great while I'm required to wear something that's not a
- 13:43regular T-shirt. Like if I for volunteering for
- 13:47Atlantis Team Atlantis on Atlantis cruises, part of the
- 13:50dress code is we need a couple of polo Tees and that's why I
- 13:55have those two polos. There are like 5 or 6 button UPS
- 14:01like Oxford, Abercrombie and Fitch style button UPS, not the
- 14:04type that you would wear in like with a business suit or they're
- 14:08not formal button. They're the type that you'll
- 14:10tuck into your shirt. Some of them are short sleeves
- 14:12as well. And then I've got a few
- 14:16sweaters. Sweaters that I hardly ever wear
- 14:19because I'd much rather just put on like a jacket on top of AT
- 14:23shirt. And with the reasons, I live in
- 14:25LA, so it doesn't even take me long to pick out clothes because
- 14:29I don't. Yeah, it's, it's a T-shirt or a
- 14:32tank top and very limited in the number of pants that I have.
- 14:37My closet is actually very simple.
- 14:40So it's very fast for me to get changed.
- 14:43Question 2004 to 32. In your opinion, what is the
- 14:45worst invention ever? There are a lot of inventions
- 14:50that a lot of people don't know about, including me.
- 14:52I I, I, it doesn't sound like it's a sensical answer, but
- 14:56there are a lot of things that exist that a lot of people don't
- 15:01know about, You know, they're probably not very successful
- 15:03things. So I feel like there are a lot
- 15:05of things have been invented that are bad.
- 15:08OK, why don't we, in your opinion, what is the worst
- 15:11invention? I'm going to tweak a little bit
- 15:13as like, what is the worst invention ever for inventions
- 15:19that someone would know about? Like obviously there's some,
- 15:23it's probably some obscure invention that never was
- 15:26successful. That is probably the actual
- 15:28worst invention ever, but it'd be limited to things that most
- 15:33people would know about. I don't know, I try.
- 15:37I don't know if I, I mean, I, I think there's certain things
- 15:39that are a bad idea, but I don't know if they were like
- 15:41inventions. I guess there's certain things
- 15:44that I don't like. Are they in, I guess, I guess
- 15:46everything is an invention. Everything has to be an idea
- 15:49from something, right? And this was like naturally
- 15:51occurring. Can we come back to that?
- 15:56Because there's not so many inventions that I think most
- 16:00people would know about that. I think it's so horrendous
- 16:06anyways, OK, we're going to, we're going to, I'm going to,
- 16:10I'm going to cherry pick this. I'm allowed.
- 16:11It's my podcast. Oh I'm really allergic I I am
- 16:21allowed to cherry pick OK but some of these are just not
- 16:26conversation worthy. Question 2437 do do people often
- 16:32ask you for your opinion and do you give it freely?
- 16:35My friends, I always value when friends give me their opinion
- 16:42when it's necessary. And a lot of the times those are
- 16:50like constructive criticisms. And I think I have a reputation
- 16:55amongst my friends that I don't like that I don't like to hear
- 17:00it. And maybe my response to critic,
- 17:04you know, sometimes you get constructive feedback and it can
- 17:08sometimes be easy to get defensive about it without you
- 17:15even really realizing it. It's almost like your intuition
- 17:21or your default to like be defensive about something.
- 17:24So I actually like it if people can tell me where my shit
- 17:31stinks. But you know, if you need to
- 17:35deliver hard feedback like that, you have to have two things.
- 17:41A certain rapport with that person.
- 17:45You know that there's got to be a level of trust between the two
- 17:48of you. So that when you deliver that to
- 17:50someone, that person, because they trust you so much, they
- 17:54know that, oh, this person is giving it to me for real because
- 17:59this is something I needed to hear.
- 18:01That's number one. The second thing is it's got to
- 18:03be in a setting, a situation where it's like a private
- 18:09one-on-one. So there's no like public
- 18:12shaming that goes on in a friendly or otherwise.
- 18:15It's like sometimes your friend needs to hear the ugly truth for
- 18:21their own benefit. But you have to do it tactfully
- 18:26in a situation where there's some comfort and safety in your
- 18:31surroundings and it's not like in front of other people.
- 18:36So I think it's really important.
- 18:38Everyone's personality is like a little bit different.
- 18:42So like the exact approach I think could depend on the
- 18:44person. But no, I think people don't.
- 18:48My, I don't think people, I think friends, close friends
- 18:54might ask for my opinion on something.
- 18:56But The thing is like I'm also like a little sarcastic and I
- 18:59don't to be honest, I think sometimes friends can't trust me
- 19:05to not like make fun of something to ask an opinion on.
- 19:08The other thing is, if not that, sometimes I'm very direct and
- 19:13and be blunt about something. If it's like a close friend
- 19:16asking me, I'll be like I don't like it and I don't really mince
- 19:21the words. But that's also partially
- 19:23because that's kinda how I would want the feedback delivered to
- 19:32me as well. Because I think if we're close
- 19:35enough friends and we have a good enough relationship and
- 19:38trust, like yes, do it in private and do it like nicely.
- 19:42But like just tell me straight up if my shit stinks.
- 19:46I'd rather a friend tell me than me go on stage and I have egg on
- 19:50my face. You know, I'm more like that.
- 19:53I don't know how much people actually ask for my opinion,
- 19:55like my friends, like people ask my opinion about like the
- 19:59cruises and that kind of stuff and things like that.
- 20:03And I do give it freely. The question is, do you often,
- 20:05do people often ask you for your opinion and do you give it
- 20:07freely? I will give it freely.
- 20:10Like if I don't, if I don't really know you and it's like a,
- 20:12you're asking for like a personal opinion.
- 20:14That's where I might do that default theoretical thing of
- 20:16like I'll kind of gloss and trigger coat.
- 20:20Especially like a corporate situation, that corporate sugar
- 20:22coating, which I don't like. But if you're a close friend,
- 20:25close enough friend, I will tell you straight up.
- 20:27If you ask for my opinion, it's like I feel like at least you
- 20:30deserve the truth from me. If you really want to know
- 20:32something from me and I think it's not good, I'm going to tell
- 20:35you it's not good. All right.
- 20:40Oh, this is interesting question 2438.
- 20:44Do you have a list of things to do before you're X years old?
- 20:48No, I think when I was a kid, when I was a child, I think I
- 20:56had this concept of, oh, by a certain age I'll be doing a
- 21:02certain thing or I'll have certain things, or I'll achieve
- 21:06a certain level of something. Now that I'm an actual adult and
- 21:10have lived actual adult live lives an actual adult life.
- 21:16No, I don't have like a oh I'm too young or old for this type
- 21:19of a thing. I I need to do these things
- 21:23before I turn X years old. No, I don't have any of that.
- 21:26What is something you're really good at but hate doing?
- 21:32I don't know if I hate it. I mean I I get it's a chore so I
- 21:37don't like cleaning very much. I don't hate it, but I would
- 21:43rather not have to do it. But I'm pretty, I'm fairly
- 21:47meticulous. If I clean, sometimes you need a
- 21:51a quick clean and tidy. I also kind of like tidying.
- 21:56Well, I mean, if, if, if I have the choice to not have to do it,
- 21:59then I would rather not have to clean and tidy.
- 22:02But I think I'm pretty good at it.
- 22:04I don't hate doing it, but I'm pretty good at it.
- 22:10Maybe there's there's some like work things that, you know, no
- 22:13one likes to do work, right, like work work, like job work.
- 22:17I mean, I, I feel like I was pretty good at my jobs.
- 22:20There's certain things where like, OK, I'm really good at
- 22:21this, but like, would I rather be not doing work?
- 22:24Sure. I don't know if it's anything
- 22:26that I hate doing, but to find out if you're really good at
- 22:30something, sometimes you need to have dinner repeatedly.
- 22:32And if it's something I really hate, I won't do it repeatedly.
- 22:35Does that make sense? What is your go to accessory?
- 22:39I don't know. I don't wear accessories.
- 22:42Like I have an Apple Watch. I think they mean like clothing
- 22:44type accessories, like jewelry and that kind of like clothing.
- 22:49I don't have accessories. I mean, I have a ring, but it's
- 22:52an aura ring that's like a health and sleep tracking thing.
- 22:56And I'm only really there for like the tracking abilities.
- 23:00I'm not in it for like as a piece of jewelry.
- 23:04I have an Apple Watch with like the basic sports band and it's a
- 23:10Series 5 and it doesn't even get software updates anymore.
- 23:15It doesn't get software updates anymore.
- 23:16I knew actually, that'll be the last question because I have
- 23:18other things now. Now that we're warmed, I have
- 23:21other things. How about that?
- 23:21Oh, that's great. It's a Series 5.
- 23:25I bought it in like 20. I think I bought it in 2017 or
- 23:292018. I remember I was about to go on
- 23:32the October cruise of Atlantis that year and literally the
- 23:36night before I flew out, I was in San Francisco.
- 23:40So this probably is 2017 because I think I was going to fly down
- 23:44to San Diego or LA the day after.
- 23:47But the night before, I remember going to the Apple Store in in
- 23:53San Francisco in Union Square, that location to like pick up
- 23:57this Apple Watch because I wanted it for to go on the
- 24:01cruise with and because I was leaving the leaving tomorrow for
- 24:05the cruise the night before. I remember taking the subway,
- 24:09going to the Unit Square Apple Store in San Francisco and pick
- 24:12it up in person. And I've been somewhat tempted
- 24:16to get a new Apple Watch, but every Apple Watch kind of looks
- 24:20and feels the same. And this one isn't broken yet.
- 24:25It's still, it's very slow doing half the things I needed to do,
- 24:30which is not that much. The only things I really do on
- 24:32it is I wear it to, I mean, if I go out, I wear it, but the most
- 24:39use I get out of it is just tracking my workouts at the gym.
- 24:43So when I get to the gym, I'll start tracking the workouts on
- 24:48it and then at the same time acts as like the playback
- 24:52controls for the media as well. Like it's so slow.
- 24:56I don't know. I think newer Apple Watches
- 24:57don't do this. Half the time the volume
- 25:00adjustment on the Apple Watch does not work to actually adjust
- 25:04the volume. Sometimes it's very delayed,
- 25:06sometimes it doesn't do it at all.
- 25:08It lags between between your workout screen.
- 25:12You can swipe across to get to your media controls.
- 25:15Swiping between that and the workout stats is laggy as F.
- 25:19Sometimes it gets stuck halfway. I think it's probably because
- 25:22it's not as broken but it's so glitchy though.
- 25:25It's it's like Apple products are not supposed to be this
- 25:28glitchy. So I'm only assuming it's
- 25:30because it's such an old watch running software that came out
- 25:34last year, not current year because I don't get updates
- 25:36anymore that it's not that it's broken.
- 25:40It's just that the software, the hardware is so slow that it's it
- 25:46lags as if it's like super buggy.
- 25:49I haven't used any newer. This is the only Apple Watch
- 25:51I've ever had, but it's I've had it for what, nine years now?
- 25:56So, but the rumor is that the next Apple Watch that's going to
- 26:01come out, the 12 or whatever it's going to be called, it's
- 26:02supposed to be like some significant physical redesign.
- 26:07I've kind of been waiting for an Apple Watch that looks and feels
- 26:11kind of different because every Apple Watch every year, kind of
- 26:17there's the Ultra, but I don't want the Super big one.
- 26:18But the normal ones, they all are very similar and look very
- 26:22similar. I know like, yeah, it's gone
- 26:25faster and the software gets better and like the screen is
- 26:28bigger and it's brighter and it's thinner and the charges
- 26:30fast. Yeah, it's all that kind of
- 26:31stuff. But it's like, I don't go out
- 26:33enough and I don't use my watch enough for all those things to
- 26:37matter. So I'm hoping next this coming
- 26:43this later this year, whenever they release the next Apple
- 26:46Watch, if it's a significant redesign of like the physical
- 26:54design itself, that's where I'll pull the trigger and get the new
- 26:58one. If they come up with something
- 27:00that's just like that's pretty much the same as previous year,
- 27:03then maybe later this year I'll wait for one of the previous
- 27:07generation ones to like get a deep discount because the Series
- 27:1111 is the one that's the current one that's on sale.
- 27:13Like Apple Watch is on sale all the time.
- 27:15The previous one, the Series 10 that came out in 2024, you can't
- 27:20get that for like what, 230? Like about 240 or $250.
- 27:27Obviously it's an older model, but like, that's why like it
- 27:29goes on like a deep discount. Like when that one was new, it
- 27:32was like 400 bucks, but you can get it for like 250 now.
- 27:36And it's very similar to the current generation that's being
- 27:40sold. So yeah, would anyone like to
- 27:43buy? OK, some, some of you out there
- 27:51are very generous and I'm very thankful.
- 27:53Like I love that some of you subscribe to the Patreon and how
- 27:59to get. I know kinds of creators push
- 28:01stuff like Patreon and like like I say, I don't like seeing the
- 28:04live subscribe thing very much. These are like call to actions.
- 28:07Oh, please, like my video and subscribe to it and do this.
- 28:10I don't watch that many creators, but if I constantly
- 28:16were watching YouTube videos and people were constantly telling
- 28:18me to like and subscribe like it's been done to death like
- 28:24give it up Mary. I don't want anyone telling me
- 28:27what to do. Do not tell me to like and
- 28:29subscribe like it. If you want to like it,
- 28:32subscribe it. You want to subscribe like is me
- 28:34telling you is every kind of creator telling you you like and
- 28:37subscribe really going to move the needle or is it like noise
- 28:40in and noise out? OK, I actually was asking AI
- 28:43because I was trying to work out this this.
- 28:45You might find this super interesting or very boring.
- 28:48I was trying to layout the sales funnel for just Joey Travels,
- 28:55OK. I was trying to get really
- 28:57organized about OK, I want to set OK Rs for the year, OK R is
- 29:01corporate speak for objectives and key results.
- 29:04You have an objective, you have a goal, OK.
- 29:07And key results are basically how you quantify that goal, OK.
- 29:11So the objective for just to retravel says, OK, I want to
- 29:15increase my sales, OK, But it needs to be measurable.
- 29:19It needs to be quantifiable, OK? So you can't just say I want to
- 29:23increase sales as your goal, OK? The OK R would be like, I want
- 29:27to have $50,000 in net bookings revenue by the end of the year,
- 29:35December 31st of 2026. So it's like, OK, it's
- 29:39measurable because do you hit 50K or not in net booked
- 29:43revenue? It's a yes or no.
- 29:45You hit the number, you didn't. Did you do it by December 31st
- 29:48of the year? Did or you didn't?
- 29:49So it's very measurable. It's very quantifiable, right?
- 29:53So that's what an OK R is, right?
- 29:55It's goal setting, but it has to be specific and has to be
- 29:58measurable and has to have a time component.
- 30:01OK, So I was trying to do that in terms of like, I was trying
- 30:05to do that for just three travels.
- 30:06And part of it is, OK, I want to actually dig into the salesman,
- 30:09but I'm selling something, I'm selling a service, I'm selling
- 30:12bookings, I'm selling cruises. So as I was doing that, I was
- 30:16just like using AI to help. And then I was asking AI.
- 30:20OK, well, I do make content. It is part of the marketing
- 30:24strategy. What's a better way instead of
- 30:27asking people to fucking like and subscribe all day long,
- 30:31what's a better way to actually get people to click on my stuff
- 30:35or to subscribe to my stuff or to like view my stuff?
- 30:38And AL is actually very helpful with Google is actually very
- 30:41helpful in like coming up like, oh, OK, there's all these other
- 30:44ways you can increase your engagement and get your metrics
- 30:47up for these OK Rs. That has the same effect of
- 30:51people liking and subscribing and engaging with comment
- 30:53without saying liking and subscribe.
- 30:56Anyways, I don't know how we got into this rat, but here we are.
- 30:58We're in Rat City now, so I hope we're all buckled into Rat City
- 31:03anyways. Yeah, but when anyone wants to
- 31:04buy me an Apple Watch. Oh, OK, I remember that.
- 31:07I remember now. OK, You don't want to go.
- 31:09You don't want to get into my brain.
- 31:10It's a scary place in there. OK, yeah, we got on a topic
- 31:13because I would say some of you are very generous.
- 31:17I know that on my Patreon I tell people, hey, I have a Patreon,
- 31:20please pay me money. So I don't literally say it like
- 31:23that, but I do this. The only way I advertise my
- 31:26Patreon is I just talk about it on my podcast.
- 31:30But my top tier open subscribers like bless your hearts, you guys
- 31:35are the best fans I could ever hope to have and let you guys
- 31:40are. But all my Patreon subscribers,
- 31:42you guys are putting your hard earned dollars on me and helping
- 31:47support me. I'm so grateful for that.
- 31:50There are some of you, though, and I'm not and I never expect
- 31:55this. I never expect like anything
- 31:59additional, honestly. I have had a few fans that
- 32:05sometimes tip me an absurd amount of money and I have like
- 32:09one or two fans that likes buying me things and they're
- 32:13they're so sweet and I never, I don't expect you to buy me
- 32:18things. So that's why I said when I
- 32:19jokingly said anyone want to buy me an apple, I was like, OK, I
- 32:21do, I, I can't, I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking.
- 32:25I can't buy my own Apple Watch. Not that I don't appreciate, not
- 32:29that I don't appreciate. I like gifts.
- 32:32Like if someone wants to buy me something.
- 32:34I think when I was growing up, I had this idea where I had to be
- 32:38very self-sufficient and mom didn't like it when people got
- 32:46us gifts. We never got gifts like when it
- 32:50was like our birthday or like a holiday or whatever, we never
- 32:54got gifts. The closest thing that we got
- 32:55was, you know, in like Chinese New Year.
- 32:59Oh by by the way, 2 days ago was Lunar New Year.
- 33:01But I'm Chinese. So in my family, we call it
- 33:03Chinese New Year. In Chinese New Year, we were
- 33:05growing up. It's Chinese tradition to have
- 33:09the lucky red pocket money, right?
- 33:12So if you got these tiny little like vertical red envelopes and
- 33:16the tradition is that for New Year's or like it was someone's
- 33:19birthday, you know, in Chinese culture, you will put a little
- 33:25bit of money in it. Or you could put more money.
- 33:28But like, you know, if it's someone you don't know that much
- 33:29or whatever, you know, it's if it's just more like a sign of
- 33:33like a gift, put like 5 or 10 bucks in there.
- 33:37If you want to be a little more generous, maybe 20 bucks.
- 33:39But you know, sometimes you could get it from like someone
- 33:42who's a little bit closer, not from like a random friend or
- 33:45acquaintance. Maybe it's like someone in your
- 33:46family's. And it's like $100, right?
- 33:48So basically you put this, you know, you put the bill into this
- 33:53red pocket and you give it as a gift.
- 33:55And it's like a Chinese New Year thing.
- 33:56And it's also like a birthday thing.
- 33:57It's like a very common tradition in Chinese culture.
- 34:01So that's the only kind of gifts that we got when we were kids
- 34:04and mom did not like like family friends or like other extended
- 34:10family, for example, to give us things.
- 34:13But I think mom didn't want us to ever get used to getting
- 34:18gifts because I think mom wanted control over like how spoiled or
- 34:23not spoiled we're going to be. I guess Mom didn't want us to be
- 34:26spoiled. Mom didn't ever want us to
- 34:30expect or get used to gifts from people.
- 34:33So the red pocket money thing, because that is like so
- 34:37prevalent in Chinese culture. Like that was it.
- 34:40But yeah, mom would not let other people give us bias
- 34:45things. Even if they really wanted to.
- 34:47Mom would mom would like mom was tiger mom.
- 34:48So mom's like no, like you can't buy them things.
- 34:50You can't buy my kids things. You're not allowed.
- 34:53Mom would not let us accept gifts.
- 34:55But we also never got this Sounds like a poor me.
- 34:58Sorry, but it's really not. I'm just telling you to tee.
- 35:00But we were also not the type of family internally that did
- 35:04gifts. Like we didn't celebrate.
- 35:06OK this sounds sad but like I really don't care.
- 35:09Like we don't celebrate well but I I never had my birthday
- 35:13celebrated. So my birthday wasn't like a
- 35:15thing. I don't think it was for my
- 35:17brother's death. We didn't do birthdays.
- 35:19We didn't do anniversaries. We don't do like Christmas is
- 35:23not a holiday for my for my parents, like they're not Shin
- 35:27or Catholic, whatever. And we grew up in Hong Kong
- 35:30where it's like it's not, it's not really a holiday for people
- 35:34that you know, like that are not religious in that way to go.
- 35:37Christmas isn't a holiday. There was no Thanksgiving in
- 35:40Hong Kong. It doesn't exist.
- 35:41That's like a that's like AUS Canadian thing and that's it.
- 35:44I don't think Thanksgiving is any is anywhere else outside of
- 35:48the US and Canada. So we didn't have any holidays.
- 35:51So we don't have gifts. It's just like the Chinese New
- 35:53Year or sometimes it was a birthday when we're really young
- 35:56where we still have like the extended family sometimes.
- 35:59So I've never got used to getting gifts.
- 36:02And I'm also very, I grew up to be very independent as well.
- 36:07I'm very much like I can provide myself and I don't like the
- 36:11reliance on others, however that may develop.
- 36:15You're not my therapist getting paid $300.00 an hour.
- 36:17So we need to crack that open. Yeah.
- 36:19But I, I sometimes still feel a little bit of a way about like,
- 36:23oh, is somebody giving me gifts? Like, oh, it's OK, I don't need
- 36:25it. It's also kind of very like,
- 36:28Chinese and kind of of certain Asian cultures to be like, oh,
- 36:31it's OK. I don't want to bother you.
- 36:34I don't want to be inconsiderate.
- 36:36I don't want to put someone out of their way.
- 36:38I notice that that's a little bit more of a trait of like
- 36:41certain Asian personalities more so than some like Western
- 36:45personalities, for example. So I'm very much like that.
- 36:49That's kind of more like my background and upbringing.
- 36:52You know, obviously I, you know, I, I, I've spent so many years
- 36:56in Western culture now and I'm a lot older.
- 36:59I don't mind getting gifts, you know, so I've got these, I've
- 37:02got like a few of these fans who are like, sometimes they'll give
- 37:04me like a relatively big tip and I'm, and I'm very appreciative
- 37:07of that. You know, I'm not asking for a
- 37:09handout. You know, I don't, I don't ever
- 37:13want to like expect a gift. It's like something you
- 37:16shouldn't for me anyways. Like I, I know there, there are
- 37:19a lot of kids that expect a Christmas present under the tree
- 37:23from Santa and they expect things for their birthday.
- 37:26Like I just happened to not be one of those people.
- 37:29I think if you want to give someone a gift out of the
- 37:32kindness and goodness of your heart, you can do that whatever
- 37:35you want. If it happens to be a holiday
- 37:37and it's a convenient time to do it, sure.
- 37:40Yeah. So it it's just sometimes feels
- 37:42like a little weird, but like I just not a person that expects
- 37:45gifts. I would never expect someone to
- 37:47buy me a gift. Well, if I had a boyfriend.
- 37:49OK, Actually, you know what? That's interesting.
- 37:51Would you expect what I expect? I think this is the me question.
- 37:54This is all about me, by the way.
- 37:55It's my podcast. Hello.
- 37:57Are this the first time listening?
- 37:58It's my podcast. Would I expect a partner like a
- 38:02long term partner, like a long term boyfriend or husband to get
- 38:07me gifts? I don't think I would, but I
- 38:16think it's a two way St. If my if my partner just because
- 38:21of like their background, upbringing or their preference,
- 38:25whatever. If my partner is the type of
- 38:28person that like they do gifts at Christmas, they do gifts at
- 38:30Thanksgiving, they do gifts for like birthdays.
- 38:32And if they are used to that, which is kind of the more
- 38:35typical, like Western cultural expectation to like, oh, gifts
- 38:41for Christmas, gifts for birthdays, gifts for blah, blah,
- 38:44then I would also do that with them.
- 38:50And I'd be OK with like between the two of us each other, like,
- 38:53oh, is it's our anniversary, Let's do gifts for each other
- 38:57for anniversary. Let's like have a nice meal or
- 38:59like do something. Oh, let's get gifts for each
- 39:02other's birthdays. Let's get gifts for each other
- 39:05for like whatever holiday. I'm OK.
- 39:07I'm fine with that. It was purely up to me.
- 39:10I'd be like, let's just hang out.
- 39:11Like that's a better gift. I don't need, I don't need
- 39:15physical things from you for you to show me your affection.
- 39:20Very like Jennifer Lopez loved and caught the thing.
- 39:23But I've just just only because I'm not, I'm not used to getting
- 39:29gifts or giving gifts. Like between me and my close
- 39:31friends, we also don't do gifts. Like I've got like 2 of the
- 39:37three different groups of like closer friends.
- 39:40In none of those groups do we ever like always.
- 39:44Yeah. In none of those groups do I
- 39:46ever do we ever like do gifts or like do we celebrate birthdays,
- 39:50one of the reasons we're friends?
- 39:51Probably. So yeah, I don't really do that,
- 39:55but if someone like to give me, oh, you know, I just did AI just
- 40:00did a post on my Patreon. By the way, you can go to my
- 40:02Patreon and be a free member. It doesn't cost you money.
- 40:05You don't obviously get most of the content, but you can still
- 40:08see some stuff. I just did a post for everyone
- 40:10that like you don't have to have paid money for my Patreon, but
- 40:13if you're on Patreon, you'll see it.
- 40:14Just asking some advice about Kindle.
- 40:17It's like an ebook because I was reading recently that.
- 40:23They may be really good to fall asleep too and like just getting
- 40:26back from the cruise, for example, where I've been
- 40:28partying all night and like it was a bit of a different time
- 40:30zone and a holiday and everything.
- 40:32It told me like a full week before I got remotely somewhat
- 40:36back to my regular sleep schedule without any like
- 40:39melatonin or like chamomile or like those whatever herbal sleep
- 40:43aid things. So I was like, oh, I wish there
- 40:45was a better way for me to fall asleep.
- 40:47And I just happened to have read about, oh, you know, like maybe
- 40:50like an ebook will be good for that.
- 40:52And I'm thinking like, maybe this should get me in the
- 40:55Kindle. Don't buy me, don't buy me
- 40:57things. Don't buy me things.
- 40:59I won't. If you want to buy me something,
- 41:01I'm OK with it, but I don't expect gifts.
- 41:06I'm making this such a big deal because I already feel guilty
- 41:08for talking about it. So that there you go that that's
- 41:12a little bit into, you know, a little bit more about my Apple
- 41:15Watch. You know, a little bit more
- 41:18about my upbringing and my, and my my cultural upbringing and my
- 41:23family and my background. You know, more about getting me
- 41:29or not getting me gifts. Oh, you know, you also know a
- 41:32little bit more about what I would look for in a boyfriend.
- 41:34You know, I actually did an episode about what I'm looking,
- 41:37what I was, what I would just for fun, what I would look for
- 41:40in a boyfriend You don't like. Literally a few days after I
- 41:43recorded episode, I literally thought I did it completely
- 41:47wrong. I did that episode completely
- 41:49wrong. I actually do need to redo that
- 41:52episode because if I actually sat down, I actually did this
- 41:56recently, by the way. Anyways, I actually did the I
- 42:00actually right after the cruise and I was sort of emotional
- 42:04mess. I actually opened up the notes
- 42:06app on my phone. I was listing out actually all
- 42:10the attributes I would want to see in a boyfriend that's
- 42:16actually worth talking about. That is something maybe you
- 42:19should sign up and subscribe like, like and subscribe for in
- 42:23the future. Anyways, I was going to talk for
- 42:2720 minutes, now I've talked for 40.
- 42:29So there you go. It's a very random episode, even
- 42:33even for me, today has been very, very random.
- 42:37But thank you for killing 40 minutes of your life that you
- 42:42will never get back. Thank you for helping me kill 40
- 42:46minutes of my life I would never get back, even though I probably
- 42:49maybe have actually, you know what?
- 42:50If I didn't spend the 40 minutes here, I'd probably be spending
- 42:5340 minutes probably not being productive anyways.
- 42:55So this is the more productive than probably what I would have
- 42:58done over the last 40 minutes. And with that, we're going to
- 43:01sign off. Until next time, Bye y'all.
