- 0:33story about a very ambitious youngster, which I can't wait to hear. But
- 0:36first, UH, let's play a little game, shall we. Sure,
- 0:39we'll play a game called needed or completed? How about that? Oh?
- 0:43I love it? I love it. We'll go through. We'll go through
- 0:47all the items on the shopping list, of course, which you can get
- 0:49as well at Goodmancenter dot org. That's Goodmancenter dot org. You can get
- 0:54this list and uh and you can play along as well. And of course
- 0:58the things that are needed head to the grow Restoring get those donations all right.
- 1:02Starting with the first item, four thousand frozen turkeys needed or completed needed,
- 1:07We still need about seven hundred and fifty and a little asterisk on all
- 1:12of these, even the completed items, we're expecting to hand out more than
- 1:17four thousand baskets this year. So if you're at the store and you're inspired
- 1:21by one of those completed categories, go ahead and pick it up and bring
- 1:25it to us. Well, glad we take it. There's always somebody out
- 1:26there. So okay, so we need turkeys, turkey, canned vegetables needed
- 1:32or completed needed. We are about halfway on those ones. Have a four
- 1:36thousand to go there. Mac and cheese, boxes of mac and cheese needed
- 1:41or completed, amy wells are completed. We had a huge donation come in
- 1:45from the Kroger Corporation, so they gave us a great head start, and
- 1:51then our community loves to donate that mac and cheese. But again, we
- 1:53will take more. That's another one that if it doesn't go in a Thanksgiving
- 1:57basket, it will go on the shelves of our pan and you know,
- 2:00families love it, so we will gladly take more. There is something about
- 2:04that's kind of that great that in pizzas that's absolutely prim household. We're like,
- 2:09we got to run to soccer practice. What can we whip up a
- 2:13box of mess It's a quick and easy dinner. Absolutely Talking with Avy Hog.
- 2:17Of course, some good community center online Goodman Communitycenter dot org. That's
- 2:23Goodman Communitycenter dot org. Playing needed or completed the list of items needed for
- 2:28the Thanksgiving baskets. Of course, they serve four thousand plus Dane County families
- 2:32on Thanksgiving. It's a fantastic program. How about gravy needed or completed on
- 2:38the gravy front needed, We need a lot of it. That's one of
- 2:40our lower categories. So if you bring anything, bring some gravy. Any
- 2:46kind of gravy definitely important. You can't have Thanksgiving without gravy. How about
- 2:51how about a Wisconsin staple? Of course, the cranberry state here in Wisconsin,
- 2:57kans of cranberry sauce needed or completed needed? We're in about the same
- 3:01state we are with the gravy. We need lots of cranberry. Oh my
- 3:05goodness, so we got to get gravy, turkeys and canned cranberry sauce.
- 3:09What about broth? Any kind of broth are we needed or completed on that
- 3:13front? Still need somewhere about halfway on broth, halfway on broth. What
- 3:17about stuffing? Oh my goodness, for Thanksgiving? What is Thanksgiving without stuffing?
- 3:22Needed or completely needed? We need, we need a bunch of that
- 3:24one too, a little more than great. We're like, we're a little
- 3:27higher than gravy, but we still have a ways to go on that one,
- 3:30all right. So what about vegetable oil, which is such an important
- 3:34staple especially around the holiday. Yeah, that is actually completed. This is
- 3:38a new one for us. Last year and this year we had a wonderful
- 3:43donation come in from Ancora Coffee Shops and Sprinklin Realty. Together they donated four
- 3:50thousand, eighteen bottles of oil. And then the community is turning out too,
- 3:54and again that is another one. We're going to hand out more than
- 3:58four thousand baskets. We will take more oil. We can always use it.
- 4:01That is fantastic. And the final item is just a necessity for the
- 4:05holiday and something that that's not edible, but aluminum roaster pans needed or completed.
- 4:11Amy those are completed, Sean, this is the first time. Those
- 4:15are one of the first things completed. And we're so excited. So just
- 4:18a quick run through what is needed, especially everything is needed could be used
- 4:23right now, but it's things that are especially important. Frozen turkeys, canned
- 4:27vegetables, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned broth, and stuffing are the really
- 4:32big things. Yes, those are the main things. Absolutely, folks need
- 4:38to need to pick up and get donated. And let's talk about the donation
- 4:41process and the drop off. I know obviously this weekend is going to be
- 4:45a busy weekend for you guys. There's still time today and tomorrow to swing
- 4:48by the gym. Is there to drop this stuff off? Yeah? Absolutely.
- 4:51Our gym is open from ten am to seven pm. You know,
- 4:56if you drop off, there's good chance I'll be there. I've been working
- 4:59from our gym all week this week. It's so great to see the donations
- 5:01come in. We also will have you know, volunteers there sorting the donations
- 5:08as they come in, counting them so we can update that canned food countdown.
- 5:13So yeah, well from ten to seven today, ten to seven tomorrow,
- 5:16and then if we still need some of those category bills, which you
- 5:19know we might over the weekend. We'll also be accepting donations on Saturday and
- 5:24Sunday as well. We're just hoping to get as many as we possibly can
- 5:28by the end of the day tomorrow. Today is the day, and today
- 5:30and tomorrow are the days. And through the weekend. If if that's what
- 5:33works best for you to get those get those things rounded up. And speaking
- 5:38of getting things rounded up, Amy, one of the things that is amazingly
- 5:42impressive is you talked about some of the area businesses that have really come through
- 5:46so far on getting things like mac and cheese and those bottles of vegetable oil.
- 5:50Very very great to see. We're also seeing just folks saying, you
- 5:54know what I'm gonna I'm gonna get together some people and do my part.
- 5:57And you've got a fantastic story about a very ambitious youngster. Yes, there's
- 6:02a young lady named Louise who has hosted. This year was her fourth food
- 6:08drive for US, and I believe she's twelve. So she started when she
- 6:12was about eight, and her first year she set a goal of collecting one
- 6:16hundred items and she hit that goal, and then each year she's gone up
- 6:20one hundred items. So this year, being her fourth year, she set
- 6:25a goal of collecting four hundred items from her family and friends and neighborhoods.
- 6:29She went door to door sean like she was really committed to like hitting that
- 6:33four hundred goals. She threw out a little fundraising thermometer that she filled in
- 6:39as she counted the items, and it was amazing because I think it was
- 6:43Tuesday evening. She delivered over four hundred items to it, so she hit
- 6:46that goal. Great job, Louise, very proud to hear that stuff.
- 6:50Little applause for as well, and it should be an inspiration for others.

- 6:59emails, say hey, have folks share the list. You can get to

- 7:15but especially as Amy pointed out, frozen turkeys, canned vegetables, gravy,
- 7:20cranberry sauce, the can variety, broth stuffing. Those are things especially needed,
- 7:26but anything on the lead a list could definitely be used. Again,
