- 0:51and drive forward. Hello everybody, welcome to
- 0:57watch this broke chair freak. Hello everybody, welcome to the
- 1:03underground studio. I'm trucker mouth and we're back
- 1:06on the road. Oh, we had some bad weather
- 1:09around where I live, man, that ripped down a a part of a fire
- 1:16hall, an old fire hall and then and ripped a the roof off of a
- 1:21school up on the hill across the river here.
- 1:22Oh, man, I can look at this later.
- 1:26Anyhow, thanks for tuning in. Today's show is about.
- 1:33Yeah, it was, it was going to be, it was going to be the
- 1:39trucking, the bottom line, it's just at the bottom line.
- 1:41I mean, what you're what you're making, what you're bringing
- 1:44home, what you're spending is, is, is is a whole lot compared
- 1:49to what what you're actually netting bringing home.
- 1:53But what I'm going to do is I'm going to do the second part of
- 1:56my show 1st. And because it's, I found out
- 2:02some things and it's, it's, it's, it's the hardships at sea,
- 2:06OK, Hardships of being at sea, being a, being a crewman at sea,
- 2:11servicemen or women at sea. And a lot of it's about the USS
- 2:16Abraham Lincoln. OK, that's, it's all that's all
- 2:20in the news now about the, the long deployment of the USS
- 2:23Abraham Lincoln. And there's just some things I
- 2:29found out and I want to, I want to highlight on that.
- 2:33The USS Abraham Lincoln left San Diego, CA on November 21st, 21st
- 2:40of last year of the end of 25. It deployed November 21st of 25
- 2:46out of San Diego again, all right for a standard Indio
- 2:52Pacific cruise. OK.
- 2:56They were just going on they were just going out there on on
- 2:58the record cruise with their with their battle group.
- 3:01I'm sure the air wings to get their to get their flight times
- 3:04in and and practice and and all that.
- 3:06It wasn't a wartime situation. Welcome.
- 3:10Come January, they were thrown into this Iranian war and sent
- 3:16over to the Middle East to go to wartime in a, in a wartime
- 3:19situation. Now, these servicemen and women,
- 3:23OK, they were looking forward to these ports.
- 3:26The Westpac. The Westpac has all kind of good
- 3:29ports and they're probably going to stop in Singapore or Japan.
- 3:36Philippines was a was a stop out there.
- 3:38As a matter of fact, the guy I was on the USS Coral Sea with,
- 3:41he used to be on the Midway. He's no longer with us, got
- 3:45arrested. So with Troy, you're a good guy.
- 3:48He married a girl from Japan. That's who that's who killed
- 3:52him. That's who ended his life.
- 3:52But anyway, so they were looking forward to going to these ports
- 3:57and that, you know, a standard 67 month cruise and come
- 4:01January, like I said, they were thrown into a wartime situation.
- 4:04They had to go to had to go over to the Middle East and with the
- 4:07Iranian war, so Abraham US Abraham Lincoln's replaced by
- 4:16the USS George Washington. OK as of now, it's been the sea
- 4:21275 days. According to what I looked up
- 4:26it's it's been at sea for 225 days.
- 4:30And like I said, this is hardships at sea.
- 4:32The hardships at sea man, it's not not a luxury cruise when
- 4:35you're out there, especially not for these people, for service
- 4:41men and women are the Abraham Lincoln man.
- 4:43So 275 days of sea stone, it's on its way back.
- 4:51US top commander, U.S. Navy Admiral Brad Cooper
- 4:54visited, visited the the Lincoln because of health, mental health
- 5:01and morale issues. Well, yeah, I'm sure there's
- 5:07mental health and morale issues. It's just, it's just that, you
- 5:14know, and don't get me wrong, when, when you're in the Navy,
- 5:17you're on a ship, that's what you signed up for, you know, to
- 5:19protect the country and go to war.
- 5:21But, you know, nevertheless, you know, being deployed for a, a
- 5:26cruise, it looks like a lot of fun.
- 5:28And set into a wartime situation is two different things.
- 5:31When you're in a wartime situation, you're you're in,
- 5:33you're in, you're in. I just had them on my, what do
- 5:39they call it? Battle general quarters.
- 5:44I'm sorry, I have things I should have wrote down General
- 5:48quarters. When you're in general quarters,
- 5:50everybody's, you know, like you have teams that everybody's made
- 5:54in a fire hose or getting ready to shore something in case of a
- 5:58missile would hit the, a missile would hit the side of the boat
- 6:02or something. And and and and it's it's, it's
- 6:06a lot of work. Yeah, so you're, you're it's no
- 6:16fun. Now, I was never in a wartime
- 6:19situation when I was on the Coral Sea, but we simulated it
- 6:21with these general quarters drills all the time.
- 6:24So 2 service members attempted to jump overboard during their
- 6:28260 days out at sea. 2 service members try to jump overboard.
- 6:33Wow, that's they must have really had some issues, man and
- 6:40morale issues when you're when you're on a carrier, you have
- 6:45just bother to hell with me. You, you have you're bumped up
- 6:483/4 bunks high 4 foot, 34 foot apart from four more bunks that
- 6:56are bumped up and you got some lockers over in in in the back.
- 7:01And you know, right, there's, you know, 68 people, 68 men
- 7:05trying to time to get out and get ready.
- 7:08And you got to do a lot of compromising with people got to
- 7:10get out of their way, let them go first this and that.
- 7:12So you don't ever want to wait the last minute because you
- 7:14might be out of luck. You know, not only that, when
- 7:18you're out of sea, you have, you have 45000 big 5000 people in
- 7:24big carriers. Now we already had three 4000 on
- 7:26coral statement smart carrier, but that was still alive.
- 7:29But don't with air wing on air. And we were important.
- 7:31It wasn't. But when you're going to see you
- 7:35have the whole air wing, everything like that and, and a
- 7:38lot of the air wing and, and the air wing is the brown shoe and
- 7:42the ship's company is the black shoe.
- 7:44And a lot of them have different points of view on things and
- 7:50just the old, the old competition between the two,
- 7:56I'll put it that way. Because everyone comes aboard
- 8:00the carrier and you know, if you're ship's company, you're on
- 8:02the carrier and they come here and act like they're taking over
- 8:06or something. But nevertheless, then you have
- 8:08a whole lot of people with a lot of different backgrounds and
- 8:11there's a lot of close quarters living and working on a carrier,
- 8:15man, you know, especially in the chow halls, in the bathrooms and
- 8:19stuff like that there. And, and a lot of time and a lot
- 8:22of times, you know, your bathroom to your birthing area,
- 8:27something might happen plumbing wise or something like that
- 8:30where you, you can't use that one.
- 8:31You got to go to another one down, down the steps, out on the
- 8:37deck down there, down the steps, down another deck to use to use
- 8:40their bathroom for showers and that because something might run
- 8:42in your bathroom. And this is just, you know, the
- 8:46air condition goes and this is just things that I I've seen.
- 8:49But all these newer ones, you know, maybe didn't have that
- 8:54maybe a little bit, but not not like we had.
- 8:56It was an old car. CB43 is decommissioned now.
- 9:00But nevertheless, you know, these guys are OK.
- 9:04Let me get Bennett's. Get going again.
- 9:06Sorry. Among the Navy's 11 aircraft
- 9:08carriers, Lincoln has the lowest mental health cases.
- 9:12The USS Abraham Lincoln has the lowest health cases.
- 9:14Not anymore, not anymore. You got people jumping
- 9:18overboard. Everyone's really suck.
- 9:23Mark is out. You people, anybody, anybody's
- 9:25family, anybody who's listening to this and one of their family
- 9:28members out on the Abraham Lincoln, get a hold of me, call,
- 9:31call MBR up, you know, get a hold of me.
- 9:35Give me a comment, man. I'd love to talk to you.
- 9:38I'd like to hear your side of things on the boat.
- 9:43But yeah, like I said, these guys had all these ports they
- 9:47were going to hit and they had fun this and that.
- 9:49Well, when they went, when they got deterred over to the the
- 9:54Middle East war with Iran, there was no port of calls no more
- 9:57They hit see they hit Guam and Almond.
- 10:05OK Lincoln ported ported in Guam December 2025 and again for one
- 10:11in Almond. So Guam, OK America has a base
- 10:16there, a big Navy base there, Guam, Gitmo, I guess it is.
- 10:20So I'm sure they found, you know, a gin mill there.
- 10:23They can have a good time missing that Almond.
- 10:27Almond is predominantly Muslim. I'm as predominantly Muslim, so
- 10:35I don't think they had too good a time in Amman.
- 10:40I never heard anyone in Portland Amman.
- 10:41But see, I'm as one of the countries with Iran.
- 10:45They controlled the Strait of Hormuz.
- 10:49I never heard anybody go now. Wow, Senator Richard Blumenthal
- 10:58said in a letter to Pete Hegseth, which is the Secretary
- 11:04of Defense. It was the longest continuous
- 11:07days at sea between port calls in Navy's history.
- 11:11The longest continuous days at sea before these people get off
- 11:16the boat and enjoy themselves or anything like that.
- 11:18Call loved ones. Well, I guess they got cell
- 11:21phones out there. Nowadays they can use their cell
- 11:22phones I imagine, but being, being that there's armament
- 11:28aboard, they might not allow cell phones to 'cause I had ACB
- 11:33rate of a four channel CB walkie-talkie I had.
- 11:36And when I was using that overseas and on the boat, matter
- 11:42of fact we might have been in port, in port this, this officer
- 11:47come up to me and says, excuse me, what?
- 11:49What are you doing? So talking about my CB, he goes
- 11:54well, we have armament aboard and that could detonate it with
- 11:57this frequency now, yeah, I don't know.
- 12:05I I think we might have we probably were at sea when he did
- 12:08this because I didn't know the I didn't know the opposite ring I
- 12:10got. But I said this CBA radio is
- 12:12going to he goes. Well, they they work on
- 12:14frequency. So I don't know.
- 12:15They wouldn't let me use it anymore on the boat while we're
- 12:18at sea or while there was arm on the board.
- 12:21Forget how it went down. But yeah, that's a long time
- 12:26between pork hauls, man, Especially like especially when
- 12:29you're looking forward to to going to these places Now, like
- 12:34I said, when you're when you're in the military, you sign up
- 12:37for, but it's still rough and not taking nothing, nothing,
- 12:43nothing away from ground troops, nothing like that.
- 12:45They got a terrible it's they got it bad.
- 12:49I think a deployment overseas radars like 6-6 months at a
- 12:51time. That's pretty what the Med
- 12:54cruise is or a year. I think if you go over to war
- 12:59situation. I think earlier a year with the
- 13:00Army and all them maybe longer fraud.
- 13:04I know I'm not. I do a lot on the Navy.
- 13:06So I was in the Navy, but another sailor went overboard
- 13:11when the Lincoln was recovered in an hour later.
- 13:14He was out in the order an hour before they got him.
- 13:18You fall for a huge carrier and you're out in the ocean for an
- 13:21hour. Yeah.
- 13:24He's lucky to be with us. He's lucky to be.
- 13:25He's lucky to be alive. Oh, boy.
- 13:35Yeah, he's lucky to be alive, man.
- 13:43Must be. So the vice Secretary Pete
- 13:46Hanks, that's reported that the reports were completely
- 13:49misrepresented, completely misrepresented.
- 13:54So what are you saying? It is, is a lot of claims, a lot
- 13:57of claims that people you hear about were false.
- 14:04And I, I for one believe that. I for one, believe that that the
- 14:14claims about there it is the claims about the bad food and
- 14:19all. I don't believe that.
- 14:20I'm sure they got I'm sure they got on reps for food this and
- 14:24that. I'm sure they had that.
- 14:27I think that was just people trying to really make it look
- 14:28bad. I would I would think that that
- 14:32was not true, but the rest of it I'm sure it is.
- 14:36Like I said, they're at general Corzo the freaking time and both
- 14:40sounded a good time to me. Hell, we were, we were on the
- 14:44cruise, the Med cruise, that time I did a Med cruise what
- 14:51long as we were, it seems like 40 days and that was going over
- 14:55and we hit, it was an older carrier, conventional carrier.
- 14:59There was no war going on or anything.
- 15:00So we did our flight OPS and that we're actually like 30-40
- 15:03days going over. And then it was 2 weeks.
- 15:07We're back in, back in Naples for, for a week.
- 15:10We're out two weeks. We're we're we're in, we're in
- 15:13we're in France, we're in Marseille for a week.
- 15:16You know, back a week, you know out two weeks.
- 15:18We're in Spain for a week. I mean we we had it was nice.
- 15:21It was all right. I still wanted to come home, but
- 15:27I hell, I just yeah, I'm I hit some good ports in them six
- 15:31months, man, I got a bunch of pictures.
- 15:35So we come back, we'll take a little break.
- 15:41We come back more on hardship to see no luxury cruise.
- 18:52The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 18:56MBR talk. Hey, thanks for supporting our
- 18:59channel by watching and listening.
- 19:01Find us on the. Web at NB Radio.
- 19:03Dot hello everybody, welcome back.
- 19:09Hello everybody. Welcome back to the trucker
- 19:14mouth show on the roadshow with trucker mouth topic today is
- 19:21topic today is life at sea. No, no luxury crews, you're at
- 19:28sea. Especially for the the
- 19:30servicemen and women. US Abraham Lincoln and I talked
- 19:37about some of the things that happened there with them and
- 19:48said the reports were completely misrepresented.
- 19:50Maybe some of them, but no, not all of them.
- 19:53I'm sure it was. I'm sure it I'm sure it was
- 19:55really trying, man. I'll tell you, like I said,
- 19:57there's a lot of different personalities out there.
- 20:00There's a lot of different, you know, backgrounds of people and
- 20:02and you're real close, real close quarters living in a
- 20:05carrier, even a real big, huge one because back more people
- 20:07win. So.
- 20:11So after all this with them, servicemen, men, women did or
- 20:17President-elect Donald Trump? Dismissed families concerns
- 20:23about the Lincoln's deployment saying it was not nearly long
- 20:26enough. Who the hell is he to say that
- 20:30the damn cruise wasn't long enough?
- 20:33When people are out there right now, you know, push go for 6/7
- 20:36month cruise turns out to be better.
- 20:38Part of a freaking year. Who the hell is he?
- 20:41This. I'm a Trump supporter and
- 20:42trucker. Putting the hammer down on
- 20:44Donald Trump saying that bullshit.
- 20:48I put the hammer down on Donald Trump, the press saying that
- 20:53about the people. All right.
- 20:57And I guess they should be home. The Lincolns should be touching
- 21:01ground, I guess going back to the West Coast there gets back
- 21:05to San Diego, probably go to. Well, they'll go to the yards
- 21:09when they get back. They're going to the shipyards.
- 21:11Well, they'll go to their port then they'll go to the shipyards
- 21:15for everything they check up on after they go on cruises, they
- 21:19go to shipyard and get checked out and repairs on an act.
- 21:23So we got another another boat here, another ship by the USS
- 21:28name destroyer spent four days at sea without power in the
- 21:33South China city, four days at sea without power.
- 21:40And that that the USS Penfold and or Lai Burt class guided
- 21:51missile destroyer South China Sea is ball ball hot balls hot.
- 21:59How does balls air and they went without an engineering casualty
- 22:05with a generator called the power outage four days leaving
- 22:09the sailors without potable water gallery servers, toilets
- 22:12or air conditioning. That's just the name of fuel,
- 22:16but then and that and that, I'm sure that sucked.
- 22:20I'm sure that really sucked. Four days of sea without power.
- 22:26It occurred July 24th, 4th destroyer was towed to buy
- 22:32contracted tugboats to Subic Bay, Philippines on July 28th.
- 22:37So they got towed to the the flip of pens and being worked
- 22:43on. Got it worked on and this is
- 22:47this now these guys were compensated OK.
- 22:52No injuries to the crew who demonstrated resilience, grit,
- 22:57professionalism, professionalism and and unwavering devotion.
- 23:05These guys did so for four days to see they're getting a medal
- 23:08or something like that, I don't know.
- 23:10So after arriving, the ship's crew received food and
- 23:14contracted lodging off board. Contracted lodging mean they're
- 23:23putting up a motel and that that's nice.
- 23:28And then they were they were relaxing then got to put them in
- 23:31a motel prior a week and they got, you know, like I said that
- 23:39that that that's that was the the gist of her the gist of her
- 23:43cruise air. The worst of that.
- 23:44That's the worst thing happened to them.
- 23:46Nothing like the the Lincoln, then, guys, the guys in the Air
- 23:49Air League ought to get a medal. I guess they probably will.
- 23:55You ought to get a medal, you know, And for Donald Trump to
- 23:58say, well, the Plymouth wasn't nearly long enough.
- 24:00And who the hell is he just said, but he's sitting in his
- 24:02White House messing around with interns.
- 24:07But they're deploying 1 long enough.
- 24:08All right. What'd you do, rich boy?
- 24:10And I'm a Trump supporter. He made a comment like that.
- 24:15So you have to arrive and shift. OK.
- 24:16Yeah. All repairs prior to the ship's
- 24:21birth shifting Well, all repairs prior to the ship's birthing
- 24:27shifted for fuel over a week later on August 7th.
- 24:31So the birthing I wrote this, this is my handwriting.
- 24:35All repairs prior to the ship's birth shifting.
- 24:39So they had a problem with the when they took on fuel.
- 24:45It sounds like they had a for fuel a week later on August 7th.
- 24:49It sounds like they had a mishap with with fueling but the the
- 24:57the ship was lean or something. Which sounds like I don't
- 25:01understand that. Yep.
- 25:04Oh. Engineering, combat systems and
- 25:06crew support were functioning normally by ships left Subi Bay
- 25:11August 8th. So everything was fixed,
- 25:17everything was ready to go by August 8th.
- 25:19Function normally by ships left stupid Bay August 8th.
- 25:23The engineering mishap is under investigation and I just hope it
- 25:30it says USS Penfold. I got a missile destroyer, so
- 25:37life at sea. There's no luxury cruise, man.
- 25:40There's more going on out there and people know, but our our
- 25:45cruise, our cruise was that was a cake and I still want, I still
- 25:53was glad to hit port. We had all that going on.
- 25:55I still was glad to get back in Norfolk.
- 25:58I hated Norfolk and I was glad to get back in American soil.
- 26:01Egypt. We stopped in Egypt.
- 26:03I was glad to Egypt. Egypt is horrible.
- 26:08I don't want to go to Egypt. We've seen the pyramids and all.
- 26:13We did that and we stayed overnight because I, I signed up
- 26:18for one of these tours. We stayed overnight at the, they
- 26:23put us up in, we paid for this. We paid for this tour, put them
- 26:29up in these motels at the airport.
- 26:34So at the airport we could get alcohol, get alcohol, beer, beer
- 26:39with alcohol in it because it's a Muslim country.
- 26:42You just can't find alcohol. Muslims don't drink alcohol or
- 26:46eat pork, I don't think. I love eating pork.
- 26:50I love drinking. They don't want.
- 26:52They don't want want. I don't ever go there again.
- 26:56But I've seen the pyramids and had some good times there.
- 27:00Some guy on a camel, he was, he was paying.
- 27:03Well, we were tourists over there, so he was paying.
- 27:06They can get up on the camel and he takes you out and takes a
- 27:08picture of you, and then you pay him for having to picture you on
- 27:11the camel. So I get up on this camel.
- 27:16Wait a minute. Did I get up on the camel?
- 27:17No, I didn't get up on the camel.
- 27:20We just. We just.
- 27:24Yeah, I can't remember how long. Truck and mouth, all brain
- 27:27cells, man. But you take a picture of you
- 27:29take a picture of him and then you with the camel.
- 27:32No, I didn't get on the camel. That's right.
- 27:34But but we walked way out in the middle of nowhere.
- 27:36And then he holds his hand out. I gave him a little bit of money
- 27:42and he acted like he started yelling and hackling off the
- 27:44bottle back. And I don't know, I started
- 27:47getting scared. But yeah, we did that.
- 27:53And man, I wonder. Spain, Marseille.
- 27:58Marseille, France. That's cool town.
- 28:02Marseille, France. I got pictures of this.
- 28:05We had a great time. We never have.
- 28:10We lost power a little bit, this and that, but we general
- 28:14quarters drove more than that. We worked.
- 28:15I worked an airframe shop. I was an aviation structural
- 28:17mechanic above the coral on the Coral Sea.
