- 0:12Speaker 2: The World's a Pigeon podcast. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It
- 0:22Speaker 2: is one hundred percent up to the vands on who
- 0:26Speaker 2: gets in.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I blame the committee just as much as the fans.
- 0:29Speaker 3: I'm gonny for opportunity ripper. Yeah, I rip everybody.
- 0:32Speaker 4: But is it like a referendum on everything they're doing?
- 0:34Speaker 4: Is that overshadows signing Steffan things last week? Now you're
- 0:37Speaker 4: all worked up about losing Joe.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I don't know if the person is being sarcastic, But no,
- 0:44Speaker 2: another one.
- 0:46Speaker 5: Four after Jaws. I mean, it's way better than Jaws said.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I missed.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I missed that one.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Man sold Fashioned.
- 0:58Speaker 6: Exactly good.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Gives me the vapors.
- 1:02Speaker 7: Flickers yet on Kickers, Yeah, I know you love the
- 1:06Speaker 7: better call Saulves.
- 1:08Speaker 5: That's my take on the Kickers.
- 1:09Speaker 2: All right, thanks, So the answer is, yes, we're going
- 1:13Speaker 2: to see him go up against you know whoever? Yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 2: you know Harvey Lang or whoever it is Harvey Lang.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Who's the guy that they've gotten free agency?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Harold Landry?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Harold Landry.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I speak Fred, but sometimes you make it tough.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Harold Landry.
- 1:30Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:32Speaker 8: Presented by Toyota's official website. For deals, buy a Toyota
- 1:36Speaker 8: dot com.
- 1:38Speaker 2: All Right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:42Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium. The guys are back in town. Yesterday
- 1:46Speaker 2: was the official kickoff of voluntary workouts otherwise known as OTAs.
- 1:52Speaker 3: No not yet, really not really, he's not organized, correct, Yeah,
- 1:57Speaker 3: not really, so it's just.
- 1:58Speaker 2: The off season program. Yeah, so a lot of guys here.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We don't take attendance for these, it's voluntary. So but
- 2:05Speaker 2: we did hear that Christian barm War is in the house,
- 2:07Speaker 2: which is good news. We don't know what he's doing
- 2:10Speaker 2: or what his plan is that they have for him,
- 2:15Speaker 2: but it's just good to see that he's here. Yeah. Otherwise,
- 2:19Speaker 2: it was pretty cool. I think for the first time
- 2:21Speaker 2: since I've been here, the football regime allowed us into
- 2:25Speaker 2: the weight room during this time of year. We got
- 2:29Speaker 2: some really cool hype video out on Patriots Social and
- 2:32Speaker 2: Patriots dot Com with the guy's working out, So that
- 2:35Speaker 2: was great. So we're excited to go, right.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I just like seeing so many guys I mean Stefan
- 2:40Speaker 4: Diggs being here. I don't know where he's at with
- 2:44Speaker 4: rehabbing all that, but just having him in the building,
- 2:46Speaker 4: I think it's a great sign. Saw a lot of
- 2:48Speaker 4: the wide receivers in some of those pictures, just for
- 2:51Speaker 4: a room that feels like it needs to get on
- 2:53Speaker 4: track and really start to build something. I just I
- 2:56Speaker 4: like seeing all those guys there. Stefan Diggs is there.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Let's get it started.
- 3:00Speaker 2: So it's Paul, it's me, it's Deuce. Evan will be
- 3:02Speaker 2: joining us. Matt's in the booth with Alex, who's helping out.
- 3:05Speaker 2: It's gonna help hopefully help Matt out from time to time.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Matt needs some help, he needs help.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you can provide a lot of ways, a
- 3:13Speaker 2: lot of different ways.
- 3:15Speaker 3: As he nods, yeah, all right. So what we are
- 3:18Speaker 3: we are hearing actually currently from a couple of players.
- 3:21Speaker 3: One of them, well, one of your favorite your favorite
- 3:24Speaker 3: free agent edition, Yeah right, Harvey Lang.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Harvey Lang's here. Yes, Harvey Lang is otherwise known as
- 3:29Speaker 2: Harold Landry. Correct.
- 3:30Speaker 3: And I think Marcus Jones also speaking today. So that's
- 3:35Speaker 3: where Evan is right now.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So we'll get back with a full report of that.
- 3:40Speaker 4: We also heard from all the defensive coaches except for
- 3:42Speaker 4: defensive coordinator Tourel Williams. On Friday, Jeremy Springer took the lead.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Interesting to finally get to meet a whole new defensive staff.
- 3:51Speaker 4: And last year a lot of holdovers, not a lot
- 3:53Speaker 4: of change in this year. It was completely new guys,
- 3:56Speaker 4: completely new faces. And the word that kept springing up
- 3:59Speaker 4: in every room I went to was violence. Like they're
- 4:01Speaker 4: looking for sustained violence.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I like that.
- 4:04Speaker 4: It seems they have a real philosophy on defense they're
- 4:07Speaker 4: building towards. So interesting. Guy's interesting new scheme. I mean,
- 4:10Speaker 4: it's it seems like a whole new world on that
- 4:12Speaker 4: side of the ball this season.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Cool yep.
- 4:15Speaker 4: And so you say, Jeremy Springer too, talking about finding
- 4:17Speaker 4: the next kicker, you know, trying to get back to
- 4:19Speaker 4: the stability that was here for so long with Adam Vinentian,
- 4:22Speaker 4: Stephen Stephens call him Stefan Gozkowski, Stephen got I's not
- 4:27Speaker 4: the only one, but I mean, you guys had it
- 4:31Speaker 4: good for so long. It was just you don't really
- 4:32Speaker 4: have to think about it, said, and forget it with
- 4:34Speaker 4: with I thought it was interesting.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Springer talking about you know the kickoff they've you know,
- 4:39Speaker 3: one of the alterations to the kickoff this year is
- 4:42Speaker 3: it's going to the thirty five on a touchback now,
- 4:45Speaker 3: so everybody's anticipating more returns. Yeah, And I thought it
- 4:50Speaker 3: was interesting that Springer felt like that's going to lead
- 4:52Speaker 3: to more sort of the need for more specialization in
- 4:56Speaker 3: the kickoff itself, which I'm not necessarily.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Brings up a question I have. So I agree moving
- 5:04Speaker 2: it to the thirty five will do teams the incentive
- 5:07Speaker 2: to see if they can do better by just covering.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But how do you think that that new alignment worked
- 5:12Speaker 2: last year? Do you think they think that that was
- 5:14Speaker 2: the success or are they re looking at that and
- 5:17Speaker 2: you know, uh on the you know, the kickoff alignment.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Well, I think there were more returns for touchdowns right
- 5:23Speaker 4: that that did that go back up?
- 5:24Speaker 3: I think it was about this a little bit.
- 5:26Speaker 4: I heard them on the radio. I didn't look at that.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I think they may have been physically more. I think
- 5:29Speaker 3: there was seven kickoff returns for touchdowns, and I think
- 5:32Speaker 3: that number might have risen, but the number of returns
- 5:35Speaker 3: rose dramatically because of where they place the touchback, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 3: So I think now that they're moving it out to
- 5:41Speaker 3: the thirty five. I think people that are sort of
- 5:44Speaker 3: looking at this are right forecasting that that will lead
- 5:47Speaker 3: to even more returns, because thirty five is that's pretty
- 5:50Speaker 3: good field position yea to just hand away, handover.
- 5:54Speaker 2: So I always look at it. One hundred percent field
- 5:57Speaker 2: is one hundred percent, so that thirty five percent of
- 6:00Speaker 2: the work has already been done for you. That's a lot.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like an MIT professor math.
- 6:07Speaker 4: I heard Felger Massa talking a little bit about this.
- 6:09Speaker 4: I thought it was Jim Murray had an interesting point
- 6:11Speaker 4: of view because he still felt like the kickoff is
- 6:14Speaker 4: still headed for death, like that, this is still going
- 6:16Speaker 4: to be a part of the game that's eventually eliminated.
- 6:19Speaker 4: But if you're going to have more returns this year,
- 6:21Speaker 4: it seems like it's going to grow a little.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Bit less guys start getting hurt a lot.
- 6:24Speaker 3: That's what I was going to say, right, that's how
- 6:27Speaker 3: and I know that that's that drives the whole thing.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It's all about player safety, and you know, and that's
- 6:33Speaker 3: the reasoning for the new alignment. I don't really like
- 6:37Speaker 3: the new alignment, but if it's worked, and I'm not
- 6:41Speaker 3: talking about work in terms of the returns, because I
- 6:43Speaker 3: don't think that's why it worked. I don't think that
- 6:45Speaker 3: alignment led to more returns. Much like this year, moving
- 6:49Speaker 3: it out to the thirty five, there's going to be
- 6:51Speaker 3: probably more returns than last year. It's not because of
- 6:53Speaker 3: the alignment. But I do wonder if it is keeping
- 6:57Speaker 3: the players safer, if there's you know, like I mean,
- 7:00Speaker 3: this one year isn't enough data to sort of draw
- 7:03Speaker 3: that conclusion. But I don't know how you guys felt
- 7:05Speaker 3: about it. I didn't it right to the week eighteen.
- 7:10Speaker 3: It kept looking odd to me watching it.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I have to admit that when they first announced this
- 7:16Speaker 2: new thing, I was I had it a little wrong.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I thought that I thought that the line of scrimmage
- 7:24Speaker 2: was actually going to be closer to where the receiver
- 7:27Speaker 2: catches the ball. So I thought, like the like the
- 7:31Speaker 2: two teams, you know, the receiving team and the kicking
- 7:34Speaker 2: team were going to be closer, like at around the
- 7:36Speaker 2: twenty and then so the kicker had to like the
- 7:41Speaker 2: what do they call it the drop zone or something
- 7:43Speaker 2: like that. That zone was actually smaller zone landing zone,
- 7:47Speaker 2: that was actually a smaller bucket that the kicker had
- 7:50Speaker 2: to kick into and so the play so that the
- 7:54Speaker 2: receiver was closer to where the kicking team was and
- 7:58Speaker 2: it was almost like a play from the line of scrimmage.
- 8:02Speaker 2: The difference was obviously that no one can move until
- 8:06Speaker 2: the receiver has the ball, you know, possesses the ball.
- 8:09Speaker 2: And then I thought so blocking schemes would come more
- 8:13Speaker 2: into play because it would look like more of a
- 8:17Speaker 2: normal play from scrimmage. So I was off I so
- 8:21Speaker 2: when they actually did, it's like, oh, the landing zone
- 8:24Speaker 2: is a lot bigger than I thought it was going
- 8:26Speaker 2: to be, and the kicking team is a lot further
- 8:29Speaker 2: away from the receiver than I thought they were going
- 8:32Speaker 2: to be.
- 8:32Speaker 4: I felt similar Fred. I feel like I thought there
- 8:35Speaker 4: was going to be experimentation, different things, maybe reverses. I
- 8:39Speaker 4: didn't know how crazy it was going to get. But
- 8:40Speaker 4: I remember being in training camp when we were first
- 8:42Speaker 4: starting to watch these things and being like, what are
- 8:44Speaker 4: they going to do? Are team's going to spring things?
- 8:46Speaker 4: And it never felt like anything was sprung. Everyone approached
- 8:50Speaker 4: it straightforward, and yes it did feel better.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Because remember it, like I'm sure it wasn't just our team,
- 8:54Speaker 2: like we're allowed to film certain things during practice in
- 8:59Speaker 2: the summer, but we weren't allowed to film that, and
- 9:02Speaker 2: I was thinking, oh, every team must be like, you know,
- 9:04Speaker 2: preparing for like you said, special.
- 9:07Speaker 3: And seven guys going different ways a flip.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And nothing that I didn't see anything manifest along those lines.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Yeah, and I guess you guys have you know, you
- 9:17Speaker 3: have more more of a life than I do, because
- 9:20Speaker 3: I had seen some of these kickoffs in those other leagues,
- 9:23Speaker 3: whether it was the XFL or the UFL. I forget
- 9:26Speaker 3: which one, but I had seen, you know, and not
- 9:28Speaker 3: necessarily knowing every parameter off the top of my head.
- 9:32Speaker 3: But it's an odd look the way they're lined up,
- 9:34Speaker 3: and you know they're five yards apart, so that that's
- 9:39Speaker 3: obviously eliminating the the collisions. That's what they're looking to
- 9:43Speaker 3: get out of it. Listen, if it's if it's going
- 9:46Speaker 3: to keep the kickoff in the game this way and
- 9:49Speaker 3: the old way was going to eliminate it, then then
- 9:51Speaker 3: I guess I'm for it. It just looks odd to me.
- 9:53Speaker 9: Still.
- 9:54Speaker 2: See what I would do, like I said, I would
- 9:56Speaker 2: put them right at a line of scrimmage at the twenty,
- 9:58Speaker 2: so there's no five yards of so you're still eliminating
- 10:01Speaker 2: the collisions. They're right there at a line of scrimmage.
- 10:05Speaker 2: The receiver is within the landing zone of twenty yards,
- 10:08Speaker 2: and he can be wherever he is within that twenty
- 10:10Speaker 2: yards and the kicker has to drop it in insteade.
- 10:14Speaker 3: The kicker has to drop it in there. But you're
- 10:16Speaker 3: saying the.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Tacklers are closer he catches it, so it's more, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 2: it's just like a regular play where instead of the
- 10:25Speaker 2: ball snap as soon as he catches the ball, boom,
- 10:28Speaker 2: let's go.
- 10:29Speaker 3: That's interesting, and you might be able to tocrease it
- 10:32Speaker 3: a little bit more.
- 10:35Speaker 4: More frequently, right, a little more of a running play almost.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It's more like a running play, right, Yeah, So I
- 10:41Speaker 2: don't know.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Anyway, I thought it was interesting that Springer brought up,
- 10:45Speaker 3: you know, back to the players that is talking today,
- 10:46Speaker 3: Marcus Jones, which something you know, you guys know how
- 10:50Speaker 3: I feel about Marcus Jones and his returnability. I think
- 10:53Speaker 3: he is electric in that regard, and I think that's
- 10:56Speaker 3: an underutilized asset to not have him with the ball
- 11:00Speaker 3: as many times as you can in those situations. Sounds
- 11:02Speaker 3: like Springer is open to that possibility. I don't think
- 11:05Speaker 3: you've returned any kicks last year, right, for the last
- 11:07Speaker 3: two years. I don't know why you wouldn't want to
- 11:10Speaker 3: try to get the ball in his hands, Like you
- 11:12Speaker 3: could throw a screen pass to him to try to
- 11:14Speaker 3: get the ball in his hands, but you don't want
- 11:16Speaker 3: to kick off. So I'm hoping that that Springer is
- 11:20Speaker 3: right about that, and we see a little bit more
- 11:22Speaker 3: of Marcus Jones as a return man.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yep, that would be good. He's like you said, he's electric.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Get him involved. I mean, the more ways possible. Interesting
- 11:31Speaker 4: to see how this you know, Josh, What does Josh
- 11:33Speaker 4: do with Marcus Jones?
- 11:34Speaker 10: Now?
- 11:34Speaker 4: I mean it's got a little bit of intrigue.
- 11:36Speaker 2: There for me. Yep, what else we got? You know,
- 11:39Speaker 2: your show making a big deal about this Milton trade, and.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I am a little surprised with how almost every show
- 11:46Speaker 3: has made a big deal. I guess we're in the
- 11:49Speaker 3: minority about that trade. A lot of people really feel
- 11:52Speaker 3: like this was a wasted asset.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Well, listen, if you waited longer and he lit it
- 12:01Speaker 2: up in preseason, might you have been able to get
- 12:04Speaker 2: more Maybe?
- 12:05Speaker 3: Maybe what if he played like he did last preseason?
- 12:07Speaker 9: Right? Right?
- 12:09Speaker 2: So there's a chance that you could have. But this
- 12:12Speaker 2: whole thing that, oh they're worried about, you know, Drake
- 12:15Speaker 2: May is being a diva. I doubt very much that
- 12:18Speaker 2: Drake May was. You got to get rid of him,
- 12:21Speaker 2: what I think, and we talked about it. What I
- 12:23Speaker 2: think more likely is what happened is Milton and or
- 12:28Speaker 2: his agent were like forcing the issue, like we want,
- 12:31Speaker 2: we want to guarantee that we're going to have a
- 12:33Speaker 2: chance to compete for the starting job because we might
- 12:36Speaker 2: think we're better than Drake May or we want to
- 12:39Speaker 2: go to a team that's going to give us an opportunity.
- 12:42Speaker 2: And I think that's what's happened, and I think Rabel
- 12:45Speaker 2: he's like, you know what, I don't need that. I
- 12:48Speaker 2: don't think it was Drake May. I think it was
- 12:50Speaker 2: Mike Rabel saying I don't need to deal with this.
- 12:53Speaker 2: I'm going to you know this chirping that you know,
- 12:55Speaker 2: you want to guarantee that you're going to have a
- 12:58Speaker 2: chance to compete for the starting job. No, that's not
- 13:01Speaker 2: what we're going to do, so see you later. I
- 13:03Speaker 2: think this is a Rabel thing saying I don't need
- 13:05Speaker 2: that noise. I'm starting out here. We want guys who
- 13:10Speaker 2: you know, want to compete, but they're not going to
- 13:14Speaker 2: be a distraction.
- 13:16Speaker 3: I most people think that, But the question is does
- 13:19Speaker 3: he think that because he wanted to make it easier
- 13:21Speaker 3: for May or not. I don't think anybody thinks May
- 13:24Speaker 3: went to the Patriots and said you need to get
- 13:26Speaker 3: right if.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Your show was insinuating that they do. No word diva
- 13:29Speaker 2: came up many times.
- 13:30Speaker 3: But they keep saying, and I listened to yesterday afternoon.
- 13:33Speaker 3: This is why I know because I had to leave
- 13:35Speaker 3: early yesterday, so I caught a lot of them, and
- 13:39Speaker 3: they kept saying that that's the way that these reports
- 13:44Speaker 3: are seeming to make it sound is that this was
- 13:46Speaker 3: to clear the decks for Drake May. And Felger several
- 13:50Speaker 3: times said I don't know that that's that to be true,
- 13:53Speaker 3: but that's the way they're reporting is making this sound.
- 13:57Speaker 3: But they were quick to say that we have no
- 13:58Speaker 3: evidence that Drake May is a debbs, but they're making
- 14:01Speaker 3: it sound like this was saying it over and over again,
- 14:03Speaker 3: because I do think it's odd that a lot of
- 14:06Speaker 3: the different reports have sort of indicated this was to
- 14:10Speaker 3: clear out the quarterback room, right, which I don't really understand.
- 14:13Speaker 3: I kind of agree with and you know that I
- 14:15Speaker 3: do not always agree with those two sure bosos that
- 14:20Speaker 3: that love to torture me. If I were Drake May,
- 14:25Speaker 3: I don't care now if Joe like to me. This
- 14:27Speaker 3: is more about Joe Milton. I think Joe Milton probably
- 14:31Speaker 3: orchestrated this trade. He probably asked to be traded. And
- 14:34Speaker 3: that's again I'm not reporting that. That's my feeling is
- 14:38Speaker 3: that he probably wanted to go to a place where
- 14:40Speaker 3: he felt he would have a chance. Why he wanted
- 14:44Speaker 3: to go to Dallas where he has less of a
- 14:46Speaker 3: chance there than here because they have a sixty million
- 14:48Speaker 3: dollar quarterback who's at least a year, if not more,
- 14:51Speaker 3: away from losing his job.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Sure, and I think you know you've got got You've
- 14:55Speaker 2: got a team. It's going to be ninety guys in camp,
- 14:58Speaker 2: but eventually fifty three guys. Chances are over the course
- 15:01Speaker 2: of the season that everybody in this team is happy
- 15:03Speaker 2: all the time are very minimal. But if I'm Rabel,
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'm not starting out with a disgruntled guy. I'm just
- 15:10Speaker 2: not going to start out that way. And You're not
- 15:12Speaker 2: that good that I'm going to deal with it, so goodbye.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't fault Joe Milton at all for wanting
- 15:16Speaker 4: a chance. He's an older prospect, I don't. I don't
- 15:20Speaker 4: fault Joe Milton either, and I just go back to
- 15:23Speaker 4: when they drafted him.
- 15:23Speaker 3: When we were on the draft show.
- 15:24Speaker 4: I remember the reactions, especially from Paul and Evan, being like,
- 15:28Speaker 4: I hate it. I just why are we doing this
- 15:29Speaker 4: to Drake? Why are we going to have a guy
- 15:31Speaker 4: hanging over his head. I'm a fan of always drafting
- 15:34Speaker 4: a quarterback, I just don't in the same year, especially
- 15:36Speaker 4: when you took a guy third overall. So I get
- 15:39Speaker 4: what Rabel's probably doing. I don't fault Milton getting the chance,
- 15:42Speaker 4: and I still think they're going to have to add.
- 15:44Speaker 9: To the room.
- 15:44Speaker 4: But you know, good luck Joe Milton, go for it,
- 15:46Speaker 4: and you know, move on.
- 15:47Speaker 2: And people have brought up to compared well, you know,
- 15:49Speaker 2: Brady wanted to be the starter he I'm sure he did,
- 15:53Speaker 2: and I'm sure he thought he eventually would be. But
- 15:56Speaker 2: I don't remember him saying I don't remember him making
- 15:59Speaker 2: a fuss.
- 16:00Speaker 9: Like this was.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I don't think there's really any evidence that Drake made
- 16:03Speaker 3: drove this.
- 16:04Speaker 2: No, but what I'm saying is we think Milton might have, right,
- 16:07Speaker 2: but back then Brady was we There was never any
- 16:11Speaker 2: reports of Brady being disgruntled, and.
- 16:14Speaker 3: I mean as a starter or as a backup, but
- 16:17Speaker 3: he never really was the backup. Well he was, he
- 16:21Speaker 3: was the four string quarterback, and then he was the starter.
- 16:23Speaker 3: That's true, that's I mean literally, you know, in the
- 16:28Speaker 3: middle of the second game. Yeah, he spent one game.
- 16:32Speaker 2: But I've heard people say, well, you don't think Brady
- 16:34Speaker 2: wanted to be the starter or thought he could be this.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I'm sure he did, but you know, there was never
- 16:39Speaker 2: any and you know, any of this stuff.
- 16:41Speaker 4: But put it through the context of today, where Joe
- 16:43Speaker 4: Milton went to two colleges, Brady was at Michigan the
- 16:45Speaker 4: whole time. If this is now, Brady was at Michigan,
- 16:47Speaker 4: Brady wouldn't have stayed at Michigan. If he was sitting
- 16:49Speaker 4: behind tre Henson there and wasn't getting an opportunity, he
- 16:51Speaker 4: would have gone somewhere else. It's also a different mindset
- 16:54Speaker 4: now for these quarters, like every.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Guy should want to play and and and so I'm
- 16:59Speaker 3: glad you brought up Brady though, because this is one
- 17:01Speaker 3: part that I will push back on the two guys
- 17:05Speaker 3: Mike and Tony yesterday. Bill wouldn't have made this trade.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Bill would unless Milton had done something. Their their insinuation
- 17:13Speaker 3: was unless Milton had done something to Belichick like asking
- 17:16Speaker 3: for more money. You have been a pain to Belichick.
- 17:20Speaker 3: It's not the same, and I'm not claiming it's the same.
- 17:23Speaker 3: But how long did Bledsoe stay after he lost his job?
- 17:27Speaker 3: Not long end of the season. The next year he
- 17:30Speaker 3: was gone. Yep, Because that's a potential distraction right now
- 17:36Speaker 3: that you don't need.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Plus you could get a first round pick for him.
- 17:39Speaker 3: No, No, that's what It's not the same. It's not
- 17:41Speaker 3: the same. I'm not pretending it's the same. It's a
- 17:43Speaker 3: much different story. It's one hundred million dollar quarterback who
- 17:46Speaker 3: had already established himself as a super Bowl caliber quarterback
- 17:50Speaker 3: who was a multiple time Pro Bowler. It's not the
- 17:53Speaker 3: same as Joe Milton, like you should have been able
- 17:55Speaker 3: to handle Joe Milton. I get it, But to me,
- 17:59Speaker 3: the crux is a potential distraction. I want to ignore.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I want to avoid any possible problems before they arise.
- 18:07Speaker 3: And I think Bill, he easily could have said, well,
- 18:10Speaker 3: wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have
- 18:12Speaker 3: Drew Bledsoe around as my backup if he thought it
- 18:15Speaker 3: could be a perfect utopia world. But he knows that
- 18:17Speaker 3: that's not going to be something that's gonna sit well
- 18:19Speaker 3: with Drew, so he moves them, just like I don't
- 18:22Speaker 3: think Mike thought this would sit well with Joe Milton,
- 18:25Speaker 3: so we moved them again. It's not the same, but
- 18:28Speaker 3: it's not all that much different either.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's avoiding unnecessary distractions. And like I said,
- 18:34Speaker 2: if Milton was a little bit better, maybe you know,
- 18:38Speaker 2: but he's not that good. And there's a lot of
- 18:40Speaker 2: people that are worried about that too, Like he'll be
- 18:43Speaker 2: like that. You know, I saw it.
- 18:44Speaker 3: I saw it. He's the best, but I'll say he's.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Not better than as long as May is good too
- 18:49Speaker 2: than five.
- 18:50Speaker 3: But if he's better, you know, people and it's a small,
- 18:52Speaker 3: a small percentage. This is a little bit of Felger
- 18:55Speaker 3: straw Man. It's it's a small percentage. But people think
- 18:58Speaker 3: there's a chance that he's better than May based on
- 19:00Speaker 3: what they saw in the last.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Few he is he is, and you know it'll be
- 19:03Speaker 2: then that's it'll be.
- 19:04Speaker 3: It's a missed up as you know, something it happens, Yeah,
- 19:08Speaker 3: it does. I'd be very surprised if that happens.
- 19:11Speaker 4: But it happens, Dak gets hurt, Milton gets in. He's
- 19:14Speaker 4: oh right, you know what if that?
- 19:16Speaker 3: I mean Dak has gotten seriously hurt. What two of
- 19:20Speaker 3: the last three years or three of the last four
- 19:22Speaker 3: or something like that. You know, so if if Joe
- 19:25Speaker 3: Milton goes in. And I do agree with you, Mike,
- 19:28Speaker 3: I think you made great points about Milton's mindset too.
- 19:30Speaker 3: As an older prospect. We spent six years in college.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Probably can't does it in his mind, can't afford to
- 19:36Speaker 3: spend two three years with no chance to compete.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Right, And maybe some spots starts for Drake may here
- 19:43Speaker 4: and there if he gets hurt, But wait till he
- 19:45Speaker 4: gets the end of his rookie deal and then someone
- 19:47Speaker 4: decides to pay him. In a perfect world, you'd he'd
- 19:50Speaker 4: light it up in the preseason.
- 19:51Speaker 9: You get.
- 19:51Speaker 3: But but I do think he had a better chance
- 19:53Speaker 3: of playing here in twenty twenty five than he does
- 19:56Speaker 3: in Dallas.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Oh you think so?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Yeah? Okay, I don't think the chance is high either place.
- 20:03Speaker 3: But well, I mean it's a young rookie who got
- 20:06Speaker 3: knocked out of a couple of games last year. Now
- 20:09Speaker 3: you're banking on another serious injury for Dak Prescott, which
- 20:11Speaker 3: is possible. Like I said, yeah, I think he he
- 20:13Speaker 3: had that, like the dislocated ankle thing, like maybe three
- 20:16Speaker 3: years ago, and then last year he missed I think
- 20:19Speaker 3: eight eight or nine games he missed. He missed half
- 20:22Speaker 3: the season last year, which why the Cowboys stunk.
- 20:25Speaker 4: But is he the backup? I mean, if he's the
- 20:26Speaker 4: backup to Dak, he's not getting probably beyond Dobbs here,
- 20:29Speaker 4: So I mean, does he go from third string here
- 20:31Speaker 4: to second string there? Does Dallas trust him that much?
- 20:34Speaker 9: Maybe?
- 20:34Speaker 3: I don't know if Will Greer ahead of him or not.
- 20:36Speaker 3: I don't know. That's to me, like the Dallas part
- 20:40Speaker 3: of it, it's typical Jerry Jones. Oh yeah, because Cooper
- 20:43Speaker 3: Rush was going to cost money, so they let him walk.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Trey Lance was going to cost money, so they let
- 20:48Speaker 3: him walk. And they bring in a guy who's not
- 20:50Speaker 3: making he's not even making a million dollars as a
- 20:52Speaker 3: six you know, rookie contract, sixth round pick. He's making
- 20:55Speaker 3: one nine hundred nine. He's probably not even make a million.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Dollars based an enemy.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Yeah, so to me that reeks of Jerry Jones.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Yeah. The thing I just can't shake. And that's why
- 21:07Speaker 4: I always like to draft a quarterback every year. Is
- 21:11Speaker 4: it's just that insurance. It's like having another young prospect
- 21:14Speaker 4: to push, because ultimately, I don't think Patriot fans care
- 21:17Speaker 4: if it's Drake may or Joe Milton or who. They
- 21:20Speaker 4: just want the next great quarterback. And you want to
- 21:23Speaker 4: give yourself as many bites at that apple as you
- 21:25Speaker 4: can get. That's why again, I think I relooked at
- 21:28Speaker 4: a lot of these quarterback prospects as I think this
- 21:30Speaker 4: year you gotta, you know, put another one in that
- 21:33Speaker 4: pipeline and get another arm in camp.
- 21:35Speaker 2: For sure.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think your point is good, Mike. But I
- 21:37Speaker 3: also would say I would just add, if I were
- 21:40Speaker 3: in charge of a team, I would rather my backup
- 21:43Speaker 3: quarterback be developed that way than having to sign Jacoby
- 21:47Speaker 3: Brissett and then Joshua Dobbs and spending you know, it's
- 21:52Speaker 3: modest money comparatively, but you know, eight million on perset, right,
- 21:56Speaker 3: it's another five million for Dobbs. I think this year
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'd rather have my backup. What about making nine hundred thousand, right,
- 22:02Speaker 3: which is the reason why I want to do the
- 22:04Speaker 3: mic thing.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that Green Bay did forever.
- 22:07Speaker 3: And you know, like we've rattled off the names back
- 22:10Speaker 3: in the nineties when Ron Wolf used to do this
- 22:13Speaker 3: all the time, and he would, you know, he never like,
- 22:16Speaker 3: he never like held anybody up to get rid of
- 22:19Speaker 3: Matt Hasselback or Ty Dettner or Mark Brunell. He didn't
- 22:24Speaker 3: get anything for Flynn. Flynn left as a free agent,
- 22:27Speaker 3: but he was able to develop these backup quarterbacks for
- 22:31Speaker 3: you know, cheap money, cheap dollars, and then you're able
- 22:34Speaker 3: to flip them for the you know, probably the similar
- 22:36Speaker 3: pick that you got for them that you used on them.
- 22:38Speaker 2: But in the meantime, but.
- 22:39Speaker 3: In the meantime you have backups that are that are
- 22:41Speaker 3: young and affordable and developing in your system. I think
- 22:44Speaker 3: to Mike's point, it's good business.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Yeah, that's also I think I just like the the
- 22:48Speaker 4: dynamic of the room bringing now that you're Drake's a
- 22:51Speaker 4: year removed, bring a young rookie in. It helps Drake
- 22:54Speaker 4: probably to set an example for a younger guy. And
- 22:57Speaker 4: as much as he was drafted ahead of Milton, there
- 23:00Speaker 4: was always that kind of vibe. I would imagine I
- 23:02Speaker 4: kind of felt that it just like because Milton's such
- 23:04Speaker 4: a presence, right, Like I always just felt like, yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 4: Drake's a guy, but man meltain standard.
- 23:09Speaker 3: It's like if they had and I can't even think
- 23:12Speaker 3: of the guys that got drafted late last year now
- 23:14Speaker 3: off the top of my head, but if they had drafted.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Average size, pocket quarterback guy, you know, the two lane
- 23:22Speaker 4: kid Pratt, remember him, kind of liked him. If they
- 23:26Speaker 4: had drafted him in day three, I wouldn't have gone
- 23:29Speaker 4: on the ranter that I went on when they Mike's
- 23:31Speaker 4: right about the stature and sort of it's almost like
- 23:35Speaker 4: a mythological presence that J. Milton has.
- 23:38Speaker 3: He has this incredible set of gifts skills, you know,
- 23:42Speaker 3: with the size, the arm, the strength. I mean, people
- 23:46Speaker 3: think he can be a tight end. He's that kind
- 23:48Speaker 3: of athlete.
- 23:50Speaker 9: You know.
- 23:51Speaker 3: That's not the same as just like, well, you're going
- 23:53Speaker 3: to take a flyer on a guy in the sixth
- 23:55Speaker 3: round and you know maybe he's a third quarterback.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Meanwhile he's out there doing back flips and stuff, and
- 24:01Speaker 4: I was going.
- 24:02Speaker 3: To create attention because of his unbelievable skill set.
- 24:06Speaker 2: And I was okay with creating attention and fans loving him.
- 24:09Speaker 2: But if he starts like being a nuisance himself, then
- 24:12Speaker 2: it's time to go.
- 24:13Speaker 3: But but I don't even think he was a nuisance.
- 24:16Speaker 3: It was a problem and he needed to go. Yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 3: because people are now seeing like, huh, he can do this.
- 24:24Speaker 3: He made that throw on the sideline. Oh did you
- 24:27Speaker 3: see the backflip? Like things that aren't important, things that
- 24:30Speaker 3: are unimportant, they're just unbelievable athletic gifts that he has.
- 24:33Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I think a lot of the reaction to though, is
- 24:35Speaker 4: just it goes back to camp last year when early on,
- 24:38Speaker 4: before even moved to eleven on eleven, we were getting
- 24:41Speaker 4: reports on this is a real quarterback competition and oh,
- 24:44Speaker 4: Joe Milton had the throw of the day and you're.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Not report on that.
- 24:47Speaker 2: You were you were, You were reporting.
- 24:48Speaker 4: Settling, settling and setting it all up last summer. I
- 24:51Speaker 4: remember when then went into hibernation.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Forgot about when he played in the preseason games, like
- 24:57Speaker 3: he was okay in the first one I think it
- 24:59Speaker 3: was Houston, the first one here.
- 25:02Speaker 2: The other two he was running around one of them.
- 25:05Speaker 3: One of them in particular, is one of the worst
- 25:07Speaker 3: quarterback performers I've ever watched in a preseason game.
- 25:11Speaker 2: So he was.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I thought he was pretty bad in the preseason last year,
- 25:14Speaker 3: but then the last game he played incredibly well. I
- 25:19Speaker 3: don't care who he played against, that's a big part
- 25:22Speaker 3: of the story, but he but he played well. He
- 25:27Speaker 3: still had to make the throw he.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Showed off his arm.
- 25:31Speaker 4: That laser he threw home, the one that.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Didn't count was the most impressive throw ever.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Draft talk, draft wins, news, whatever you want to call it.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Travis Hunter was talking yesterday and no, I mean he's like,
- 25:49Speaker 2: I want to play every down, both sides of the ball.
- 25:51Speaker 2: I can do it. You know, he claims he can
- 25:54Speaker 2: do it. I thought it was interesting I heard him
- 25:57Speaker 2: saying that.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Sure, I like him saying it. I don't think I would.
- 25:59Speaker 4: I would, I would do it, but I would try
- 26:01Speaker 4: to ramp up to it. I mean, why not.
- 26:03Speaker 3: See I wouldn't be opposed to it, but just not
- 26:05Speaker 3: as a rookie.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I want him to learn something first. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 26:08Speaker 3: what you know, one or the other, whatever one you
- 26:10Speaker 3: think he's better at. I want him to learn that
- 26:12Speaker 3: trade first.
- 26:13Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 26:13Speaker 3: And then if you think, okay, he's established himself, he
- 26:15Speaker 3: has this, let's put more on his plate and then
- 26:18Speaker 3: if he can play both ways, more power tool.
- 26:20Speaker 4: So I think the bonus is I mean, if he
- 26:21Speaker 4: came here, We've discussed plenty. I think it makes sense
- 26:24Speaker 4: to starmint wide receiver. It's the biggest position to need
- 26:26Speaker 4: and that's where I think he's got probably the most
- 26:28Speaker 4: learning to do. But I think by teaching him that
- 26:31Speaker 4: position and learning the nuances of NFL route running and
- 26:34Speaker 4: play design and those things, is he learns that, it's
- 26:37Speaker 4: also going to inform him on the other side of
- 26:39Speaker 4: the ball. And then you start, like I would start to,
- 26:41Speaker 4: you know, get his feet wet it. I mean, I
- 26:42Speaker 4: want to go back to what I said originally, where
- 26:44Speaker 4: let's play him on third down both sides of the ball.
- 26:46Speaker 4: I think he's a wide receiver, probably not in every
- 26:49Speaker 4: down wide receiver at least to start, but you know,
- 26:51Speaker 4: then you get to start getting him in on some
- 26:52Speaker 4: third downs, play him inside. You know, look, we're not
- 26:54Speaker 4: going to just man him up on somebody. We're going
- 26:56Speaker 4: to use him as a little bit of a chess piece,
- 26:58Speaker 4: and it's not you know, make it so he doesn't
- 27:00Speaker 4: have to think too much. You gotta get that athletics.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I would I would if I took him, I would
- 27:04Speaker 2: definitely start him at wide receiver, you know, through through
- 27:08Speaker 2: the spring in the summer as much you know, see
- 27:11Speaker 2: how he's doing there, and if I see, okay, this
- 27:14Speaker 2: is where he belonged, you keep him there and then
- 27:17Speaker 2: if not, then you start to convert him back to cornerback.
- 27:20Speaker 2: You just hope that you have to start him at
- 27:22Speaker 2: wide receiver. That's just where he can make more of
- 27:24Speaker 2: an impact.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Okay, that's a good argument. I was going to ask
- 27:27Speaker 3: you which what which one you think would be harder
- 27:30Speaker 3: to learn?
- 27:32Speaker 2: I think wide receiver, so I think corner Really.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Why because I think there's so much that goes into it,
- 27:38Speaker 3: you know, playing within the system.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Well, I was going to say the same thing about
- 27:41Speaker 2: why he was route.
- 27:42Speaker 3: Running, like you just have to learn like to run
- 27:45Speaker 3: a little bit more precise routes. But like, I mean,
- 27:47Speaker 3: I know it's more to that. I know I'm simplifying it.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 27:50Speaker 3: I mean, I think you can make an argument either way.
- 27:52Speaker 3: I think I think not why I'm going to get
- 27:53Speaker 3: into a knockdown drag out because you can.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Also just go with that guy, follow him, cover him.
- 27:57Speaker 4: That's it, Like, that's the play.
- 27:58Speaker 3: But I said, but it very rarely gets done like
- 28:02Speaker 3: that anymore. You know their zone, verus man, all the
- 28:07Speaker 3: luances of and then learning the receivers that you're covering.
- 28:10Speaker 3: It's not like college where you're covering a plumber. You know,
- 28:13Speaker 3: like you're covering you know, quality guys that can make
- 28:16Speaker 3: you look bad.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Plus all the communication on defense that has to happen
- 28:19Speaker 4: before the snap. I mean, yeah, there is communication offensively,
- 28:21Speaker 4: they've changed the play adjuster out, but.
- 28:24Speaker 2: The offense is trying to create confusion.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Right, and so stressed that you got to know quick
- 28:29Speaker 4: and right.
- 28:30Speaker 3: So the other thing that I thought was interesting. I
- 28:31Speaker 3: heard a clip from Mike Mayock yesterday. Old friend Mike Mayo.
- 28:36Speaker 2: What's he doing now?
- 28:37Speaker 3: I don't know he was he was doing. You know,
- 28:40Speaker 3: it's like talking about some draft positions and he's he
- 28:42Speaker 3: had mentioned that wide receiver and tackle with the two
- 28:45Speaker 3: positions that have him sort of the most flum mixed.
- 28:49Speaker 3: But he talked about wide receiver at let that heard
- 28:51Speaker 3: a long clip that they played on Felgrind Maz and
- 28:55Speaker 3: he talked about it's not a great year for wide receivers,
- 28:58Speaker 3: which we already knew. But he's said there's only a
- 29:00Speaker 3: couple of guys that he thinks are really first round,
- 29:03Speaker 3: and he mentioned McMillan, he mentioned Matthew Golden, and I
- 29:07Speaker 3: think he mentioned Luther Burden.
- 29:09Speaker 12: Yep.
- 29:10Speaker 3: Never mentioned Travis Hunter as a wide receiver. I don't
- 29:13Speaker 3: know if he was just omitting him or if he
- 29:16Speaker 3: felt like he's more of a corner.
- 29:17Speaker 2: That had to be an omission, but I don't know.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I just he's still doing top five with ten people
- 29:22Speaker 2: on probably probably Yeah.
- 29:26Speaker 4: I would just say I think in the receivers you
- 29:27Speaker 4: can get traits, you know, they're guy's traits. The all
- 29:30Speaker 4: around potential guys doesn't really seem.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Like there's that.
- 29:33Speaker 3: And he had mentioned specifically Michael that Michael the well,
- 29:37Speaker 3: when I'm serious, you know, he doesn't think there's anywhere
- 29:41Speaker 3: near the amount of sort of day two gems that
- 29:45Speaker 3: they have been saying the last four or five years
- 29:47Speaker 3: at receiver.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, there's some speed guys. Kyle Williams from Washington
- 29:51Speaker 4: State's a guy. Ivan and I were talking about what
- 29:53Speaker 4: we've talked about. Isaiah Bond from Texas to that that
- 29:56Speaker 4: to me is What intrigues me just for this Patriots
- 29:58Speaker 4: group where I think they're running nine ten guys deep
- 30:00Speaker 4: right now, is I just love to get a burner, Like,
- 30:03Speaker 4: give me a burner. He doesn't have to be big,
- 30:05Speaker 4: he doesn't have to be the most polished route runner
- 30:07Speaker 4: or anything like that, but just love to see some
- 30:09Speaker 4: guy with some straightway speed just to try to get
- 30:12Speaker 4: that element right, you know, into the offense.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess he's got to be just more than
- 30:18Speaker 2: just fast though, you know, because we had that.
- 30:20Speaker 3: No, they need someone who can play. And I'm a
- 30:22Speaker 3: little worried that it doesn't sound like there's a lot
- 30:25Speaker 3: of these guys, Like I don't know if they are
- 30:27Speaker 3: going to be the AJ Browns and the Terry mclaurin's
- 30:30Speaker 3: and those guys coming out of date day two of
- 30:32Speaker 3: the draft that are going to be impact players based
- 30:35Speaker 3: on you know, just Mike Mayock.
- 30:37Speaker 4: You know, I'm not sure that Klellan Farrell was that
- 30:40Speaker 4: one of his Uh oh.
- 30:41Speaker 3: Yeah, he had he had some bad drafts with the Radus.
- 30:45Speaker 4: I always really liked him, and then when he went
- 30:46Speaker 4: to the Raiders and I'm like, who's this guy picking now?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Like I would you would you allow would you change
- 30:53Speaker 2: the draft to allow teams to draft futures? So, in
- 30:57Speaker 2: other words, draft a guy, reserve a guy a year
- 31:01Speaker 2: ahead before you could.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Draft arch Manning. Now, whenever he decides to come out,
- 31:05Speaker 3: he belongs to you.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Obviously you lose the pick, basically, would you allow that?
- 31:12Speaker 9: No?
- 31:12Speaker 3: But I think that that's not I don't think it's
- 31:14Speaker 3: a dumb concept. I mean, everybody Larry Bird that way.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I just want to is everybody eligible, like you can
- 31:21Speaker 4: go off the beaten path anyone you want?
- 31:26Speaker 2: Two years for him, but I guess the danger of
- 31:28Speaker 2: that would be okay, So once arch Manning gets future
- 31:31Speaker 2: draft by the Patriots, he doesn't want to play anymore,
- 31:34Speaker 2: like like you know, he's like faking injuries so he
- 31:37Speaker 2: doesn't get hurt in his college career and he saves
- 31:40Speaker 2: himself for the pros.
- 31:41Speaker 4: I don't know, Well, what if you drafted, I mean,
- 31:42Speaker 4: could you do him like in a sixth round pick,
- 31:44Speaker 4: like I'm going to take this, you know, I'm going
- 31:46Speaker 4: to take this. And now he's slotted as a sixth
- 31:49Speaker 4: round pick.
- 31:49Speaker 3: You have to you'd have to fix that, have to
- 31:51Speaker 3: fix that, you'd have to have to only be first.
- 31:53Speaker 4: Rightly I'm just going to take some fly take a
- 31:55Speaker 4: seventh in.
- 31:56Speaker 3: The seventh round every year, I would take a guy
- 31:58Speaker 3: who I think is going.
- 31:59Speaker 2: To be really good. So the caveat would be the.
- 32:02Speaker 3: Ohio State guy Ryan Uh. The two wide receivers. It's
- 32:06Speaker 3: Alabama and Ohios Williams, Ryan Williams, and you think he
- 32:10Speaker 3: might oh yeah, he's the Alabama he's the seventeen year
- 32:12Speaker 3: old state guy and Jeremiah Smith.
- 32:16Speaker 2: So it has to be you have to use a
- 32:18Speaker 2: first round pick, you know, so you're you're deferring a
- 32:21Speaker 2: first round pick for whenever this guy graduates or I.
- 32:24Speaker 4: Mean I wanted to get the first round is going
- 32:26Speaker 4: to be kind of like everybody's already drafted, you know,
- 32:28Speaker 4: you just have the guys who broke out their senior
- 32:31Speaker 4: year or that would probably be.
- 32:33Speaker 2: But you know, like like I'm I don't I don't
- 32:35Speaker 2: think it's the worst thing, because like, if you're your
- 32:37Speaker 2: team's like, oh, we have to wait. But now there's
- 32:39Speaker 2: this like anticipation for this kid to finally be done
- 32:42Speaker 2: with his car.
- 32:43Speaker 3: If you were the Giants right now, wouldn't you take
- 32:45Speaker 3: arch Manning?
- 32:46Speaker 9: Sure?
- 32:46Speaker 3: Right at three, right right?
- 32:48Speaker 2: And it opens it up for other teams to get
- 32:50Speaker 2: access to guys who there.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Especially if Travis Hunter goes too right, now, the Giants
- 32:55Speaker 3: have to take ab Duel Cotter quote unquote have to
- 32:58Speaker 3: and they have Brian Burne in Cavon Thibodeau, like we're
- 33:04Speaker 3: going to take arch Manning, right, that wouldn't be a
- 33:08Speaker 3: terrible pick. I kind of like your idea.
- 33:10Speaker 2: And then if the guy ends up not being that
- 33:13Speaker 2: good in college, well.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Yeah, well buy be aware that I know.
- 33:16Speaker 4: That's what I was going to say is sometimes guys
- 33:18Speaker 4: have bats in your years, right, and their stock goes down,
- 33:20Speaker 4: and can you believe they wasted the third overall pick
- 33:23Speaker 4: on archy.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Now when it comes again, when it comes time to draft,
- 33:28Speaker 2: you can trade that draft if you want, but you
- 33:30Speaker 2: could be stuck with the person.
- 33:31Speaker 9: You know.
- 33:32Speaker 4: I'm just I'm reminded of like old like Bobby your
- 33:34Speaker 4: stories of you know, when they sign amateur players to
- 33:37Speaker 4: you know, just random kids, like oh and then he
- 33:39Speaker 4: signed with this team, but then he went and signed
- 33:41Speaker 4: with that, Like he's already been on like three teams
- 33:42Speaker 4: before he's even played.
- 33:44Speaker 2: You know, in the NHL, didn't the Celtics get Birdy
- 33:46Speaker 2: year early?
- 33:47Speaker 3: You just never listened to me. I legitimately just said
- 33:52Speaker 3: that that's how the Celtics processing. That was a little
- 33:59Speaker 3: different because the rules at the time were your draft
- 34:03Speaker 3: eligible once you're graduating class of when you entered college.
- 34:06Speaker 3: He had spent four years in college, but because he
- 34:08Speaker 3: transferred from Indiana to Indiana State, he had to sit
- 34:11Speaker 3: out a year. Back then, that didn't happen all the
- 34:14Speaker 3: time the way it does now. So he was in
- 34:16Speaker 3: his fifth year after his high school, so he was
- 34:19Speaker 3: eligible after the fourth year, right, and read said we're
- 34:22Speaker 3: going to take him.
- 34:23Speaker 4: Yeah, still on episode one.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I'll get to the other part.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I gotta watch that tonight. Yeah. I think I'm up
- 34:29Speaker 3: to date except for this week. I didn't see last
- 34:31Speaker 3: night yet.
- 34:32Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 34:32Speaker 2: The problem with it is we're talking about Celtic City now.
- 34:35Speaker 2: It's the documentary by The Ringer and Bill Simmons. They
- 34:40Speaker 2: never talk about the season. They go right to the postseason.
- 34:45Speaker 2: You know, there's never any talk about what transpired during
- 34:48Speaker 2: the season. And I'm thinking to myself, all they're doing
- 34:50Speaker 2: is reinforcing the narrative that the NBA regular season doesn't count,
- 34:54Speaker 2: you know, doesn't.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Plus, I don't think that they get into enough you
- 34:58Speaker 3: know here and there a little bit, but I don't
- 35:00Speaker 3: think they get enough of the sort of relationships among
- 35:05Speaker 3: those teams, the players. Yeah, you know, they talk a
- 35:08Speaker 3: little bit about McHale and Bird and how you know
- 35:11Speaker 3: they friends, Like, well he got mad at them.
- 35:15Speaker 2: You don't mess with people's money. Yeah I didn't.
- 35:18Speaker 3: I didn't know that story either. That was one of
- 35:19Speaker 3: the instances that that's what I'm interested in. Yeah, you know,
- 35:23Speaker 3: I want to know things that weren't readily available. You know,
- 35:27Speaker 3: I can open up PO Pro Basketball Reference and do
- 35:32Speaker 3: an account of the nineteen eighty four season. I remember
- 35:36Speaker 3: what happened. That's all they're doing. You know, I'd rather
- 35:40Speaker 3: have those kinds of stories. Where Parish was holding out
- 35:43Speaker 3: he wanted more money, and Bird said something to the
- 35:46Speaker 3: effect of, you know, if we have plenty of guys,
- 35:51Speaker 3: we have plenty of talent on their edge.
- 35:52Speaker 2: And that's kind of an unwritten Parish money to that
- 35:57Speaker 2: professional athletes is you don't mess with another guy's.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Then Bird got in a fight against Doctor J and
- 36:03Speaker 3: he was kind of getting attacked from the back by
- 36:05Speaker 3: Moses Malone, and Parish just stood there and watched, right,
- 36:09Speaker 3: and he explained why he was really mad at Larry
- 36:11Speaker 3: at the time. Yeah, I think Parish is pretty good
- 36:14Speaker 3: in that documentary itself. You don't see that's again, you
- 36:17Speaker 3: don't hear a lot from Parish. He was such a
- 36:19Speaker 3: quiet guy when he played. You hear a lot of
- 36:22Speaker 3: stories from McHale.
- 36:23Speaker 2: Or he was too busy getting FedEx. That's true.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Chief all right, yep. That Celtic's moanment, brought to you
- 36:31Speaker 3: by Yeah.
- 36:31Speaker 2: So players continue with their off season workouts today. We'll
- 36:36Speaker 2: have a little bit more on social media from that
- 36:39Speaker 2: as well. When's the first time that we media gets
- 36:43Speaker 2: access to anything? May you might know this day?
- 36:46Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a little bit of me. But I mean
- 36:47Speaker 4: twenty I mean, I don't know. Maybe will we get
- 36:50Speaker 4: a glimpse, Oh.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Well, we get the rookie will we get rookieia?
- 36:53Speaker 4: But I don't know if we're getting on this year.
- 36:54Speaker 4: It hasn't been explicitly said.
- 36:56Speaker 3: I could be earlier than that.
- 36:58Speaker 4: There are three early arting in mid May. I think
- 37:01Speaker 4: the rookies would be the first weekend after after.
- 37:05Speaker 3: The draft, so early May. I would say, cool, Yeah,
- 37:09Speaker 3: all right, it April, early May. It's coming fast. It's
- 37:12Speaker 3: unbelievable how close the draft is already.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Wonder I wonder how much the formula is going to change.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I didn't really notice a lot of changes last year
- 37:20Speaker 4: from Bill the Jerro. It still seemed like the mechanics
- 37:23Speaker 4: of practice generally kind of felt similar to me. But
- 37:27Speaker 4: you know, Rabel, he's got his own thing, He's doing
- 37:29Speaker 4: his own thing.
- 37:30Speaker 3: I just thought I thought there was a long ramp
- 37:35Speaker 3: up to practice most days before they actually did anything.
- 37:39Speaker 3: That was one difference I saw with Mayo last year.
- 37:41Speaker 3: I felt like, you know, a lot of people made
- 37:43Speaker 3: a lot of the fact that this was a really
- 37:45Speaker 3: hard camp because of the actual amount of time they
- 37:47Speaker 3: were out on the field, But I didn't think they'd
- 37:50Speaker 3: spent a lot of that time actually practicing. There was
- 37:53Speaker 3: a lot of positional drills, you know, the warm up.
- 37:58Speaker 3: It seemed like forty five minutes to an hour before
- 38:01Speaker 3: they did anything. Pretty much every day.
- 38:02Speaker 2: Well, a lot of your people yesterday were me you
- 38:05Speaker 2: people one of them. But dared Yea pointing out that
- 38:08Speaker 2: Gerard could have started early last year and decided not
- 38:13Speaker 2: to be Some of us were ahead of the curve
- 38:15Speaker 2: on that because they you know, he didn't feel they
- 38:17Speaker 2: were on the same page. Listen, I'm not going to
- 38:19Speaker 2: be a fraud. At the time, I'm like, if he
- 38:21Speaker 2: doesn't think the coaches are ready yet, then good, don't
- 38:24Speaker 2: start yet, don't bring the players into the building and
- 38:26Speaker 2: you don't know what the hell you're doing yet. That said, okay,
- 38:29Speaker 2: why don't you know that what the hell you're doing?
- 38:31Speaker 2: But it took them a long time to get that
- 38:34Speaker 2: staff together. They were behind the eight ball from the beginning.
- 38:37Speaker 3: I'm not telling you that they were wrong for being behind.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Why it was troubling that they were behind. That was
- 38:43Speaker 3: my point of the time.
- 38:43Speaker 4: You see red flags pretty quick, paul I. I that
- 38:46Speaker 4: was a red flag, and there were probably a couple
- 38:48Speaker 4: more examples of that from last season that I feel like,
- 38:51Speaker 4: you see it. That's a red flag right there.
- 38:53Speaker 3: And like I heard, my buddy big Head was talking
- 38:55Speaker 3: about this yesterday, like this time last year. You know,
- 38:58Speaker 3: there's already one thing that's going on now that he
- 39:00Speaker 3: likes more than that.
- 39:02Speaker 10: Was it right?
- 39:02Speaker 3: And I just and I'm not picking on you because
- 39:05Speaker 3: I know that you argue with me because that's what
- 39:07Speaker 3: we contract really obligated to do. But you have an
- 39:11Speaker 3: opportunity to start two weeks before everybody else, and you
- 39:13Speaker 3: just said, no, we're gonna punt on that. We're not
- 39:15Speaker 3: gonna We're not gonna even if you could have just
- 39:17Speaker 3: gotten together, Okay, we're not really ready for it yet.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Get him in, Go go left, go do something. You know,
- 39:23Speaker 3: you can have a meeting, yeah, you know, because you
- 39:26Speaker 3: can't do really anything on the field yet anyway. Now,
- 39:28Speaker 3: I mean you see like that we have like a
- 39:30Speaker 3: little outline of all the things you can do, and
- 39:32Speaker 3: none of the people. This is not telling tales out
- 39:34Speaker 3: of school. It's all available out there online for anybody
- 39:37Speaker 3: wants to know. Like, you can't even like catch pass,
- 39:40Speaker 3: like the defense can't catch a pass from something, like
- 39:42Speaker 3: you can't intercept the path. You can't do anything right,
- 39:45Speaker 3: Like it's not football yet. You're just sort of getting
- 39:47Speaker 3: acclimated to a new program, a new system.
- 39:50Speaker 2: But but what you said that Vrabel's really setting his
- 39:54Speaker 2: own tone and doing it his own way. We did
- 39:56Speaker 2: get some really really really good access yesterday that we're
- 40:00Speaker 2: not putting out yet, but it's going to be part
- 40:02Speaker 2: of a longer form video that we'll release after the draft,
- 40:08Speaker 2: and I can't wait for people to see it. You're
- 40:11Speaker 2: so you're right, there are things that Rabel is doing
- 40:15Speaker 2: that it's like, oh, okay, that's pretty cool. You can
- 40:18Speaker 2: see how he's putting his immediately putting his thumbprint on
- 40:21Speaker 2: the team. And we've been given that access. So you'll
- 40:25Speaker 2: see that after the draft in the longer form documentary
- 40:28Speaker 2: that we release. Excited to see you, Yeah, yeah, behind
- 40:32Speaker 2: good stuff.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yep, all right, so that's that, Mike. You thought Kyle
- 40:38Speaker 3: Duggert looked a little thinnery yesterday.
- 40:40Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, it's funny. I was, I was getting ready
- 40:42Speaker 4: to hit out the door yesterday and I got my
- 40:44Speaker 4: phone lights up. Mike Grease, I'm like, well, I got
- 40:46Speaker 4: to answer this one, and he's like, Deuce, I'm looking
- 40:49Speaker 4: for someone as crazy as me. I'm trying to go
- 40:51Speaker 4: through your footage here to see which players are coming
- 40:53Speaker 4: in to the in the video that we put out,
- 40:56Speaker 4: and so I we're but we both we didn't quite
- 40:59Speaker 4: get Digs at first because he was a little bundled up.
- 41:01Speaker 4: We got him, but but Kyle dugger weren't sure at first.
- 41:03Speaker 4: But he seems like he might have yeah, lost a
- 41:05Speaker 4: little weight. Maybe, I don't know. Maybe that's part of
- 41:09Speaker 4: guys trying to fit the scheme, better, getting lighter, getting faster.
- 41:12Speaker 4: Maybe I got to get a look up close to him.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Maybe he was just bundled up. He's always kind of
- 41:16Speaker 4: a wiry guy anyway, he's not the thickest. But yeah,
- 41:18Speaker 4: seemed like maybe maybe he'd come down a little bit.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Better than the other way around.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Yeah, better, you know, And if he was coming off
- 41:25Speaker 3: the injury, you know, you didn't know how much off
- 41:29Speaker 3: season work he was going to be able to do.
- 41:31Speaker 2: But looks like that wasn't an issue in shape. Yeah,
- 41:34Speaker 2: all right? Eight five to five past five hundred is
- 41:36Speaker 2: the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email address.
- 41:41Speaker 2: So let's hear what's on people's minds. We'll start on
- 41:44Speaker 2: the Hotline. We'll go to Randy, who's in Providence. What's up, Randy?
- 41:49Speaker 13: Hey, So I wanted to talk drafts with you guys
- 41:52Speaker 13: for a moment here. I know I heard you talking
- 41:55Speaker 13: about the wide receiver class earlier, and I kind of
- 41:58Speaker 13: couldn't disagree more with what you were saying. I think
- 42:00Speaker 13: the meat of this wide receiver class is on Day two,
- 42:03Speaker 13: in that second and third round. I think there's some
- 42:06Speaker 13: very direct comparisons between the twenty nineteen wide receiver class
- 42:10Speaker 13: and this one, Like, can I just stop you for
- 42:12Speaker 13: one quick second?
- 42:14Speaker 3: I just want to just you know, this was what
- 42:16Speaker 3: Mike Mayock said. I was just I was parroting with
- 42:19Speaker 3: Mike Mayock said about the draft. Just one, just one,
- 42:21Speaker 3: just one man's opinion.
- 42:24Speaker 10: Yeah that's all.
- 42:26Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean look at Mike Mayof's track draft history.
- 42:29Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's not good.
- 42:30Speaker 14: That's all you need to say.
- 42:31Speaker 3: It's not good with the with the Raiders, absolutely the but.
- 42:35Speaker 12: No, I think like if you look at twenty nineteen
- 42:37Speaker 12: wide receiver class, there are you know, you had Martise
- 42:40Speaker 12: Brown who jumped up into the first round when he
- 42:42Speaker 12: ran the fourteen seven at the combine, right, very similar
- 42:45Speaker 12: to Matthew Golden jumped up into the first round really
- 42:48Speaker 12: when he ran the fourteen nine.
- 42:49Speaker 3: That was one of the guys Mayok had at first
- 42:51Speaker 3: round grade for Golden.
- 42:53Speaker 13: Yeah, but he wasn't super special in college, right, Like
- 42:56Speaker 13: he only played into the first wide receiver so flawed attack.
- 43:00Speaker 13: Since when Bond went down and then you got and
- 43:03Speaker 13: kill Harry in that twenty ninety draft, I think he's
- 43:06Speaker 13: got very similar comparisons to t mac personally. I'm like,
- 43:11Speaker 13: you look deeper into the second round. You know, AJ Brown,
- 43:14Speaker 13: Trey Harris, DK Metcalf, Jaden Higgins. There's a lot of
- 43:19Speaker 13: direct comparisons, I think, and I think the meat of
- 43:21Speaker 13: this draft is in the second and third round. I
- 43:23Speaker 13: think some of the better mock drafts that I've seen
- 43:25Speaker 13: for us have them going with like a Will Campbell
- 43:29Speaker 13: first and then Jade Jiggins second. But I wanted to
- 43:31Speaker 13: ask you about that because I do see people in
- 43:35Speaker 13: scenarios trading back, and I think that's great, you know,
- 43:38Speaker 13: to be able to draft Will Campbell.
- 43:40Speaker 12: But do you think, particularly.
- 43:41Speaker 13: Maybe in the first year of a new administration, if
- 43:44Speaker 13: you will, there's value in saying we're taking you with
- 43:48Speaker 13: the top five pick because this is the type of
- 43:51Speaker 13: player that we want and that sort of thing, you know.
- 43:57Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not I think I follow. I mean,
- 44:01Speaker 4: I'm guessing he's saying as Will Campbell's kind of demeanor
- 44:04Speaker 4: and leadership and drafting him more for intangibles. Like I
- 44:08Speaker 4: just think you have to hit this pick. It has
- 44:10Speaker 4: to be a really good player, it has to be
- 44:12Speaker 4: a guy. I love Will Campbell's and tangibles. But I
- 44:16Speaker 4: don't think you can draft fourth overall with like your
- 44:18Speaker 4: main drive being well, he's a good guy, it's gonna
- 44:20Speaker 4: be good for the program. He's Rabels kind of guy.
- 44:23Speaker 4: I think that's a nice key.
- 44:24Speaker 2: But I think and the talent, if everything else is equal,
- 44:29Speaker 2: that's that could tip you over.
- 44:30Speaker 4: You want to tell me that they will Campbell's the
- 44:32Speaker 4: left tackle and they believe in him, and he's gonna
- 44:34Speaker 4: play there and and it'd be a shock to them
- 44:38Speaker 4: that he'd be a guard, then sign me up for that.
- 44:40Speaker 9: Yep.
- 44:41Speaker 4: But if there's some some question, I think everybody's in
- 44:44Speaker 4: a similar boat where you take a trade down. You'd
- 44:46Speaker 4: love to have a trade down. You'd love to go
- 44:48Speaker 4: to the Raiders at six. I know a lot of
- 44:49Speaker 4: people talking about the Saints at nine. I don't know
- 44:52Speaker 4: how realistic it is that people are going to trade
- 44:54Speaker 4: up to four for Shad or Sanders, but that's what
- 44:57Speaker 4: you're probably hoping on. Otherwise, there's some ri skip for
- 45:00Speaker 4: if it's not Carter Hunter, there's gonna be questions. There's
- 45:03Speaker 4: gonna be some kind of well is this gonna work out?
- 45:06Speaker 2: Are you sure?
- 45:07Speaker 4: With just about anybody you take?
- 45:10Speaker 2: Chad writes in says, I'm hearing opening arguments about Milton,
- 45:14Speaker 2: and I think you all may be missing the point.
- 45:16Speaker 2: It's not that he's gone. For most fans, it's that
- 45:18Speaker 2: we didn't get enough for the trade. Well that's what
- 45:22Speaker 2: was offered.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, so this is what happens when these reports
- 45:27Speaker 3: come out about they had offers for more?
- 45:31Speaker 10: Like what what was it?
- 45:32Speaker 9: Right? Like?
- 45:34Speaker 3: This is why And I know you get mad at me,
- 45:36Speaker 3: Fred when I do this, but this is why. Like
- 45:37Speaker 3: when Chris Godwin re signs with Tampa and then everybody
- 45:41Speaker 3: just runs with the fact that he was offered far
- 45:42Speaker 3: more money by the Patriots. Well, was he really or
- 45:46Speaker 3: was it the chance it was the chance to make
- 45:49Speaker 3: more or non guaranteed more like, he actually got more
- 45:53Speaker 3: guaranteed from Tampa. But you were you were willing to
- 45:55Speaker 3: give him one hundred and thirty million. They were only
- 45:57Speaker 3: given him a hundred million, but the one hundred million
- 45:59Speaker 3: was guaranteed as what like that's not more Like I
- 46:02Speaker 3: need to know specifics when you're telling me that they
- 46:05Speaker 3: turned down, because I don't believe they turned down anything
- 46:07Speaker 3: significantly more than what they got. This is a guy
- 46:10Speaker 3: who last year got drafted in the one hundred and nineties. Yeah,
- 46:15Speaker 3: he played one game against practice squad players, Milton, and
- 46:18Speaker 3: now he's all of a sudden worth.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Right, what.
- 46:22Speaker 3: A sixth round pick is which you got for him?
- 46:24Speaker 3: You swap from the seventh round of the fifth round. Yep,
- 46:27Speaker 3: that's basically the equivalent of a sixth rounder. That's what
- 46:30Speaker 3: you got for him. That's what you that's what you
- 46:32Speaker 3: paid for him, right. I don't believe that they had
- 46:34Speaker 3: an offer for like a second round pick that they
- 46:36Speaker 3: turned down. If that's what they wanted to honor his
- 46:38Speaker 3: wishes to go.
- 46:39Speaker 2: If that's true, then somebody should get fired.
- 46:41Speaker 3: Then by all means, you know, criticize away. I don't
- 46:45Speaker 3: believe that, prove.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Prove it to me, and then okay, I'm with you.
- 46:48Speaker 2: But I don't think they had.
- 46:50Speaker 3: You know, maybe maybe someone offered him a higher pick
- 46:52Speaker 3: swap than that. Maybe maybe I don't even believe that,
- 46:55Speaker 3: but maybe maybe it was higher.
- 46:57Speaker 2: In the fifth round for perhaps, But other than that,
- 47:01Speaker 2: I doubt sincerely that they trade they turned down significantly
- 47:05Speaker 2: more than they got.
- 47:06Speaker 3: Maybe they could have gotten him for a fifth rounder
- 47:08Speaker 3: and not having to give up the seventh rounder.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Yep. Is that that would be more right?
- 47:13Speaker 4: Yeah, seek anybody who actually watched Joe Milton in training
- 47:16Speaker 4: camp last year, and watched all of his performance in
- 47:18Speaker 4: preseason and then watched him in that final game. We're
- 47:21Speaker 4: all on the same page. At some point. Some of
- 47:24Speaker 4: these reports made everybody believe that he's a third round pick,
- 47:27Speaker 4: and we've never seen it on the field. I've never
- 47:29Speaker 4: seen that. He doesn't look like he looks like a
- 47:31Speaker 4: sixth round pack. He looks like a guy who needs
- 47:33Speaker 4: time to develop. He made strides clearly in that last game.
- 47:35Speaker 2: But all right, Andrews in Portland, Maine. What's up, Andrew? Hey,
- 47:43Speaker 2: what's going on?
- 47:43Speaker 10: Hey?
- 47:43Speaker 14: I just want to say that you're taking the call
- 47:45Speaker 14: first time.
- 47:46Speaker 9: Long time.
- 47:46Speaker 10: You guys give me laughing. For years and years and years,
- 47:50Speaker 10: I never call, but I always listened.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 47:53Speaker 10: I just wanting to give a quick thank you for
- 47:55Speaker 10: the laugh. The Harvey Langey line, Fred the last show
- 47:59Speaker 10: still has.
- 47:59Speaker 14: Met me going.
- 48:00Speaker 10: So I want to say thank you for that.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Pleasure to you.
- 48:04Speaker 14: Is I'm sick of the draft mock drafts, to look
- 48:08Speaker 14: through them all.
- 48:10Speaker 10: My question is produced when do we get the new
- 48:12Speaker 10: uniforms tomorrow?
- 48:14Speaker 9: Tomorrow?
- 48:15Speaker 2: Probably?
- 48:15Speaker 4: I think That's what I'm working on.
- 48:16Speaker 2: How to talk about that? How to talk about new Union.
- 48:19Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 48:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 48:20Speaker 4: I'm excited as anybody people.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I guess may or somebody was holding up a Royal
- 48:25Speaker 2: Blue like a couple months ago or something. Who was
- 48:27Speaker 2: that holding out?
- 48:29Speaker 4: The hard thing, Fred is that you can't do royal
- 48:31Speaker 4: blue because it looks like buffalo. There's a lot of yeah,
- 48:33Speaker 4: be careful these days.
- 48:34Speaker 2: At the time, Okay, thanks Andrew, appreciate the call and
- 48:37Speaker 2: you listening. At the time Royal Blue came out, everyone
- 48:40Speaker 2: hated him. They thought they were the ugliest thing ever
- 48:42Speaker 2: soccer stripes.
- 48:43Speaker 15: Right.
- 48:45Speaker 3: I didn't particularly like him.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Nobody did. Oh, I'm telling you.
- 48:48Speaker 3: So when they when they changed the uniform, I really
- 48:52Speaker 3: didn't like the helmet. That was the big, the big thing.
- 48:55Speaker 3: But then they had the first year of ninety three,
- 48:58Speaker 3: they had those blue shoes with red numbers. Yeah, you
- 49:01Speaker 3: couldn't even then. They changed in ninety four they had
- 49:05Speaker 3: like a white number and the number was up on
- 49:07Speaker 3: the shoulder. I kind of liked those. The following year
- 49:10Speaker 3: they changed again and had the big elvis on the shoulder.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Hated that, and that's what they kind of They went
- 49:17Speaker 3: through the rest of the Royal Blue and that's the
- 49:19Speaker 3: soccer stripes. You kind of like the the dual Tones
- 49:22Speaker 3: stripes kind of looked odd to me, so I liked.
- 49:26Speaker 3: I liked what they eventually went to in two thousand,
- 49:30Speaker 3: you know, as Mike likes to call them the Championship uniforms,
- 49:32Speaker 3: the Dynasty uniform. Sorry I misspoke, the Dynasty uniform. I
- 49:38Speaker 3: liked that better, but I still like the old red,
- 49:41Speaker 3: red and white, red, white and blue better than anything
- 49:44Speaker 3: they've done since.

- 51:48Speaker 18: on right now, we'll do Fridays. It's the best best
- 51:50Speaker 18: time to do it.
- 51:52Speaker 2: If if we just start with the rule change that just.
- 51:58Speaker 19: Touchback.
- 51:59Speaker 10: Yeah, how do you envision that impacting the return?
- 52:03Speaker 18: You're going to cover a lot more kicks playing simple.
- 52:05Speaker 18: I mean you don't want to start starting to drive.
- 52:08Speaker 18: Start to be at thirty five. It was twenty five
- 52:09Speaker 18: two years ago, now at thirty Now thirty five, so
- 52:13Speaker 18: your odds are to cover more. And so as you're
- 52:16Speaker 18: looking at the whole grand scheme of things, the kickers
- 52:19Speaker 18: being very important.
- 52:20Speaker 2: What you can do with that guy.
- 52:22Speaker 9: He's got to have a tool box.
- 52:24Speaker 18: He's got to be like a punter, right, He's got
- 52:25Speaker 18: to be able to place the ball where you can
- 52:26Speaker 18: put it, you know, put it line, drive it, corner it.
- 52:30Speaker 18: Doubt though, that's going to be very very important now.
- 52:32Speaker 18: So I think the kicker is probably your most important weapon,
- 52:34Speaker 18: then your personally after that. But it's it's made a
- 52:37Speaker 18: lot of change and kind of how we're going to
- 52:38Speaker 18: approach this offseason.
- 52:40Speaker 10: You know, from a kicker standpoint, Sure you lost the
- 52:42Speaker 10: kicker Joey and you still have a guy's roster.
- 52:46Speaker 11: Yeah, maybe you just kind of comment on what Joey
- 52:49Speaker 11: they put you guys last year and what that position was.
- 52:51Speaker 18: Like you guys, Yeah, I thought Joey came in did
- 52:54Speaker 18: a great job for us in a whole, in a
- 52:55Speaker 18: hole that we needed. He came in and won that
- 52:57Speaker 18: job last year and did some really good things for us,
- 52:59Speaker 18: and I hope he does a phenomenal job at Tennessee
- 53:01Speaker 18: where he's going now with bones And now we're just looking,
- 53:04Speaker 18: you know, to replace a guy, and we got John
- 53:06Speaker 18: Parker on the roster. He knows already that we're gonna
- 53:08Speaker 18: bring in somebody else.
- 53:09Speaker 3: You know.
- 53:09Speaker 9: However, that process is to come compete to win the job.
- 53:13Speaker 18: And I fully expect Parker to embrace that, which he will,
- 53:16Speaker 18: and then wherever we come that comes in as new
- 53:18Speaker 18: to embrace that. And then guy to come in and
- 53:20Speaker 18: and be be great for us, come in and make
- 53:23Speaker 18: all his field goals and help us win football games,
- 53:25Speaker 18: and and also be a weapon on kickoff made the.
- 53:28Speaker 20: Routes that some credence.
- 53:31Speaker 4: What are you're looking for kicking across that?
- 53:34Speaker 2: Uh?
- 53:35Speaker 9: Well, first and foremost, the character part of it is
- 53:37Speaker 9: really important. I don't want just a kicker.
- 53:39Speaker 18: I want a guy that's that's gonna be great in
- 53:40Speaker 18: the locker room, that can go out and hang out
- 53:42Speaker 18: with with the tight end, with Hunter Henry, go hang
- 53:44Speaker 18: out with Drake May and you know, hang out in
- 53:46Speaker 18: the locker room, hang out outside of this place.
- 53:48Speaker 9: And I want to guy a guy's guy, like an athlete.
- 53:51Speaker 18: Overall that's consistently through college and or in the NFL
- 53:56Speaker 18: where it's a free agent and or it's a college kid.
- 53:58Speaker 18: You know, it doesn't matter. I don't know who we're
- 53:59Speaker 18: gonna ge. Yeah, we're going through that process. But his consistency,
- 54:03Speaker 18: the ball rotation, the ball flight, and now, like I
- 54:06Speaker 18: just told Mike, there is the kickoff part of it.
- 54:08Speaker 9: Like he can't just be one dimensional.
- 54:10Speaker 18: He's a guy. It's like coach, I can't want to
- 54:12Speaker 18: kick a deep left and it's gonna be end over
- 54:13Speaker 18: animile when we're playing Camante Turpin. He's just gonna run
- 54:16Speaker 18: underneath that thing. I'm the six kickoff and take it
- 54:19Speaker 18: to the house. So those are just some of the
- 54:21Speaker 18: things that I look for. But the most important thing
- 54:23Speaker 18: is the character part.
- 54:23Speaker 21: I think I'm not being mind that in terms of
- 54:26Speaker 21: that sort of creativity the kickoffs that you're talking about,
- 54:29Speaker 21: Like is there enough of those types of examples that
- 54:32Speaker 21: you can find it on tape or do you have
- 54:34Speaker 21: to work the guys out, you know, free draft to
- 54:36Speaker 21: see if they can do those.
- 54:37Speaker 9: Sorts team you guys see it.
- 54:38Speaker 18: And so I'm at the pro days and the privates
- 54:40Speaker 18: or and or I'm working with a free agency comes
- 54:42Speaker 18: in for a workout, like they should know by now,
- 54:45Speaker 18: like what that entails because we just had a year
- 54:47Speaker 18: of it.
- 54:48Speaker 9: So a lot of those guys are.
- 54:49Speaker 18: Working on that technique now, they're working on the different
- 54:52Speaker 18: types of kickoffs. They know how important it is. And
- 54:54Speaker 18: and I'm just not the only one seeing it, right.
- 54:56Speaker 18: All the thirty one coordinators want to see it as well,
- 54:58Speaker 18: So they know that pretty u pretty pretty well often
- 55:01Speaker 18: now whether.
- 55:02Speaker 5: Draft when it comes to the kickers, you know, what
- 55:05Speaker 5: do you see in this class? And you see guys
- 55:07Speaker 5: that have drafticule grades that.
- 55:09Speaker 18: The play options for you guys, Yeah, exactly, that's what
- 55:13Speaker 18: That's what we've been doing, me and my assistant coach Quinn,
- 55:15Speaker 18: Like we've been checking out the guys we've seen probably
- 55:16Speaker 18: every kicker in the country, I think by now, so
- 55:19Speaker 18: we've got a good foundation on what's out there, whether
- 55:22Speaker 18: it's draftable or it's free agent whatnot. And you know,
- 55:25Speaker 18: whatever process we go down when we get to draft
- 55:27Speaker 18: weekend and.
- 55:28Speaker 9: Or post draft, you know, we'll approach it.
- 55:30Speaker 18: And that's why we have a plan for all of it, right,
- 55:32Speaker 18: you know, draft, not draft, free agent. We have a
- 55:34Speaker 18: plan in place for each each of those processes so
- 55:37Speaker 18: that we can get the right guy.
- 55:37Speaker 11: Intating that that the job of kickers kind of a
- 55:41Speaker 11: train inventory job. You have guys have a good year,
- 55:45Speaker 11: they think be a homepoort isis for you may be
- 55:47Speaker 11: established some consistency with that position.
- 55:49Speaker 18: You guys have had, Yeah, right, there's been a couple
- 55:53Speaker 18: of guys now, so that's very important, right, I mean,
- 55:56Speaker 18: I like being especially as coordinator. I want to I
- 55:58Speaker 18: want to continue to do that and finding the kicker
- 56:00Speaker 18: is a very important factor in that. So I take
- 56:03Speaker 18: that job very very seriously, and I think it's very important.
- 56:07Speaker 18: You want to build stability that they've had in the
- 56:08Speaker 18: past here, right, you guys have had you guys have
- 56:10Speaker 18: seen it in your own eyes, a lot of stability
- 56:12Speaker 18: from the kicker standpoint, hasn't been that way in the
- 56:14Speaker 18: last two years.
- 56:15Speaker 9: So doing everything we can right now to find that piece.
- 56:17Speaker 18: And it could be John Parker Romo, it could be
- 56:19Speaker 18: somebody else, but whoever that is is going to have
- 56:21Speaker 18: to win the job come that time.
- 56:23Speaker 19: When to adding a kicker, whether it be free agency
- 56:25Speaker 19: and draft, just the unique challenges that come with kicking
- 56:27Speaker 19: in New England late in the year.
- 56:29Speaker 10: How much do you weigh whether or not a guy
- 56:30Speaker 10: has experienced anything at weather.
- 56:33Speaker 18: I weigh it in and that's why I go work
- 56:36Speaker 18: him out because I want to see, you know, not
- 56:39Speaker 18: just off the sticks, you know, I want to see
- 56:42Speaker 18: what he does outside, or I want to throw a
- 56:43Speaker 18: little pressure on the guy. But sometimes that doesn't always equate.
- 56:47Speaker 18: You know, if this kid that kicks him in Arizona
- 56:50Speaker 18: or kit kis in California where it was always nice,
- 56:52Speaker 18: you can still go watch him and see where how.
- 56:54Speaker 9: The ball rotates, how hot hot high gets.
- 56:57Speaker 18: First, the guy might kick the Michigan and yeah, he
- 56:59Speaker 18: makes it every kick, but the ball's low and it
- 57:01Speaker 18: kind of curves in.
- 57:03Speaker 9: That isn't really equate to maybe a better kicker at
- 57:05Speaker 9: this level.
- 57:05Speaker 18: So I think the workout in person, whether wherever, wherever
- 57:09Speaker 18: they kick in the country. I think it's just me
- 57:11Speaker 18: seeing in person is really important.
- 57:17Speaker 11: How familiar with you with Mac Collins before he got here,
- 57:19Speaker 11: and what do you think he'd bring to special teams?
- 57:21Speaker 9: I don't. I don't know him at all, didn't never
- 57:23Speaker 9: met him, never talked to him.
- 57:24Speaker 18: I've just heard nothing but great things about him, you know,
- 57:27Speaker 18: on and off the field, from other coordinators that have
- 57:30Speaker 18: coached him around the league. You know, first and foremost,
- 57:34Speaker 18: I hope he comes in here and dominates the receiver
- 57:36Speaker 18: and then we're secondary. I mean he I want him
- 57:39Speaker 18: to come in here and play offense and do the
- 57:40Speaker 18: best he can of offense, and we're gonna use him
- 57:42Speaker 18: on special teams, then we use him. But if not,
- 57:44Speaker 18: then that's okay. If he's dominant offense, we're a better
- 57:46Speaker 18: team because of it.
- 57:47Speaker 4: Sure mean with a new kickoff and especially coveredy new
- 57:50Speaker 4: kick Coffson closet part timity kickoff team, the guys were
- 57:55Speaker 4: blocking him on return.
- 57:57Speaker 19: Being a different body type today.
- 57:59Speaker 9: Than a couple of years ago, you guys were charging
- 58:01Speaker 9: out for personnel.
- 58:02Speaker 18: Yeah, you're definitely using a few more bigger bodies tight
- 58:05Speaker 18: ends and outside linebackers than you were two years ago.
- 58:10Speaker 18: But you still have a forty eight man roster and
- 58:12Speaker 18: you still got to fill your needs in an offensive defense.
- 58:14Speaker 18: So you still got to find a way. You know,
- 58:16Speaker 18: if you're gonna be lighter because your team, your office
- 58:19Speaker 18: deaves are lighter, then you gotta find ways around that
- 58:21Speaker 18: with the kicks, with how you twist guys and how
- 58:24Speaker 18: you place them. So you just got to maneuver. So
- 58:26Speaker 18: it's not always like, oh, we're gonna have to do
- 58:28Speaker 18: it this way and this way we're gonna do it
- 58:29Speaker 18: because on kickoff return now is how you know. It's
- 58:31Speaker 18: you have to base it off your team's personnel.
- 58:34Speaker 15: The challenge is that because it's kind of going against
- 58:36Speaker 15: the trend defensively where teams generally.
- 58:39Speaker 1: Have some packages on the field for the pass.
- 58:41Speaker 2: You find in lighter bodies other people mention the outside linebacks.
- 58:45Speaker 18: Times you find a way. I mean, you have to adjust, man,
- 58:48Speaker 18: you just or you die. Right, So it's like, hey,
- 58:50Speaker 18: if we got a lighter team, find ways to be
- 58:53Speaker 18: better because of it, you know, on kickoff, and find
- 58:56Speaker 18: ways to do things differently than other teams are doing.
- 58:59Speaker 9: That's what you gotta do completely the last year.
- 59:02Speaker 22: But how excited to get the opportunity to stay for
- 59:05Speaker 22: another year.
- 59:05Speaker 10: And what has it been like working with my great
- 59:07Speaker 10: so far?
- 59:08Speaker 9: Been unbelievable, Grateful to have a job. And in this
- 59:11Speaker 9: profession it's every year is a new year.
- 59:13Speaker 18: Every year your job's on the line, and that's again,
- 59:17Speaker 18: that's the job that we have and I fully understand that.
- 59:19Speaker 18: To be able to stay for another year, I'm very
- 59:22Speaker 18: grateful for the opportunity, Thanks for Coach Rabel and the
- 59:24Speaker 18: organization for keep me on. And I'm just gonna take
- 59:27Speaker 18: take ownership of that and do the best I can
- 59:29Speaker 18: to be the best special teams for this team and
- 59:31Speaker 18: the best coach for this team on special teams and
- 59:33Speaker 18: do everything I can to help us win games.
- 59:37Speaker 6: And now great moments in.
- 59:41Speaker 2: History. You know he was also a stand up comedian.
- 59:44Speaker 22: I heard that. Yeah, yeah, he said he started to
- 59:46Speaker 22: get too big, right?
- 59:49Speaker 2: Is that what he said?
- 59:51Speaker 22: Started to get too much of a following?
- 59:54Speaker 6: Matt that you know why I left the Herald. I
- 59:58Speaker 6: was too successful, right, I had a to the Patriots.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: He was too big.
- 1:00:05Speaker 22: He didn't want to travel, No.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: He didn't want to travel, did not he didn't.
- 1:00:09Speaker 22: Want to travel on the road for the show. Started
- 1:00:11Speaker 22: to getting too big, too funny.
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: You know, really, I don't think she never said that
- 1:00:15Speaker 6: to us was big. He wouldn't dare I.
- 1:00:18Speaker 22: Heard that he said he was starting to get too big.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: He twice he told us that he was good at
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: it and that his style was like Jerry Seinfeld.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Remember he compared himself to sign observational humor.
- 1:00:28Speaker 14: Right.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: So he never said that he was overly successful and
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: that that's why he got out of the business. Never
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: said that to us.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: He said, they kept asking me back. I'm like it
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: was open mic nights.
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: That's another great moment from.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Big Back here and Patriots on filtered eight five to
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: five past five hundred is the hotline podcast said, Patriots
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: dot com is the email address. He was too big,
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: He was too big. Evan's back. I just spent some
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: time with uh Harvey and Marcus Jones.
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: It's funny because now he's Harvey Langy, Like I can't
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: get it out of my head.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: So that's tough.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Harold Landry was here. Yes, first time we've talked to
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: him since he in a press conference setting. We you know,
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: had him on the website, but first time we've talked
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: to him in a press conference in signing with the Patriots,
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: and he basically said, as soon as the writing was
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: all in the wall in Tennessee, he had Rabel on
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: the other line, you know, waiting for him. So it
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: sounded like that was pretty much a done deal quickly
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: within the parameters I'm sure of NFL rules.
- 1:01:39Speaker 3: Well, he could have done it the next day, you
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: got really Yeah.
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I met like when he was still under contract
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: for the Titans. I don't know if maybe they had
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: talked about it with trade possibilities and stuff, but yeah,
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: it sounds like that was both sides were eager to
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: get that done as soon as he became available.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: How about Marcus Jones to hear from him?
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Marcus.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: He mentioned Germany, he did.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: Yeah, big fan of Dusseldorf, big fan of of all
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: the Patriots fans that were there. He said he couldn't
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: believe how many Patriots fans we were there for the festivities.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: And I also thought it was interesting. Got a couple
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: of Travis Hunter questions as somebody that's played, you know,
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: on both sides of the ball in the NFL, and
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: he said he wouldn't you know, say you can't do it.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: He would never say anybody can't. But he admitted that
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: playing both ways in the NFL full time is lofty.
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: He said, it's a long season, you know, and I
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: think he was talking about injuries and you know, bumps
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: and bruises and all that kind of stuff catching up. Yeah,
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: so he he's he kind of made it sound like
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: I'm not gonna say never, but unlikely.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: That he's his injury status now physically.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: He wasn't asked about that, which surprised me. But it
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: does seem like he's a surprise. So he's been in
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: He told us that he's been in the buildings and
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: you know, in and out since February. But I'm assuming
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: to get rechecked, you know, medically, but he's he's participating
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: at least in the workouts.
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: Shoulder he sometimes you know me cte. He did finish
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: the season on correct correct.
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: Yeah, he missed the last game of the season.
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: No one asked him about that.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: We got it there you go. But you did both
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: of them speak at length? Was it long? It was?
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: They were laid and then like a little staggered in
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: terms of the time.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: But yeah, no, its because of the stagger. There you go,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: good friend like that. I did that. It was for me.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: I mean, was there a big contingent?
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: Not a big contingent.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: But people stayed up late for the game last night.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: So then each outlet had a representative. I would say,
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: you know, not everybody. You know, mass I didn't send
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: their entire you know, starting five to this, but they
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: had somebody there.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, Hip injury was what Marcus Jones was dealing.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: I just guys don't finish the previous season. I would
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: think the next time you talk to them, that would
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: be something that should work its way in.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: I was expecting that question Germany.
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: He was, you know how that goes? But yeah, no
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: he I think with Marcus Jones, he's still trying to
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: get a sense for Very Bowl and the coaching staff,
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: and he was asked a few questions about that and
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: he's like, it's it's day two. You know, I really couldn't.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: I couldn't tell you, you know, asked me again in
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: a couple of months, but for.
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: That question, right, yeah, exactly.
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: The reason that you can only say the word football
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: three times a day and that's it, but you can
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: say foot. You can look at a football you can
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: you just can't say football.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: There is music though apparently it was like one thing
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: that stood.
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: Out to music during the press conference.
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: No, no, no, Raybel, I guess plays music that that's
- 1:05:01Speaker 7: very high on Mike Rabel's yeah west throughout the hallways
- 1:05:04Speaker 7: always yeah.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: He's getting serious about his music too, right, like we're
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: all not too.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: He's getting music from muzach like is it contemporary songs?
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Who's picking it? House DJ?
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: Whats going on?
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: This is well, this is an investigative reporter of question.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: I don't. All I know is is that there's music.
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: And it does sound like Rabel has the ox chord.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: I don't think that's a thing anymore. It connects to
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: the bluetooth.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Uh you know in my car.
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: Okay, you know, I think I aged myself with the
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: ox cord. But yeah, it does sound like maybe you know,
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: it's early, so maybe Rabel made the playlist for for now,
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: but does sound like you. Harold Landry was a little like,
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: I think we could do better with the music. He
- 1:05:53Speaker 5: was like it was fine, you know, whatever floats his boat.
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: I think what's his answer?
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: Playing a little country eighties nineties rock?
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: I would guess the.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Rable Wheelhouse playing like Jethro Tull.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: Oh, people like what the flute out?
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: Let's go NOTQO long all right? Anything else to report?
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: What did you think about Travis Hunter yesterday talking about
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: being able to play every play both sides of the
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: ball are wanting to.
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: I'm sure he wants to.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean you like that, you like that?
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: I like that.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: I don't think it really sways me one way or another.
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: I love the play like I take the player all day,
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: but I do take Marcus Jones that face. I mean,
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: if anybody would know what it's like to have to
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: prepare to play multiple, you know, positions on both sides
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: of the ball, it would be Marcus Jones. And it's
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: probably the closest thing we have, honestly, to what Travis
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Hunter has been able to pull off. I mean, Marcus
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: Jones played even more receiver in college. You know, he
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: played ten to fifteen snaps a game at times at
- 1:06:56Speaker 5: Houston at wide receivers. So him saying that it's probably
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: not possible, I think speaks volumes.
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: But they are the common well known examples of wide
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: receivers playing cornerback other than Troy Brown and Julian Edelman
- 1:07:09Speaker 4: doing it here. I'm so focused on here.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: College champ Bailey, champ Deon Sanders.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Champ Bailey would be an example.
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: Yeah, champ Bailey did it in college almost as much
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: as Travis Hunter.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: Really he did.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: And uh, you know, going way back like Mel Gray, No,
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: not Mel Gray, sorry, Roy Green different, Saint Louis Cardinal,
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: he played some wide receiver. He actually transitioned full time
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: to wide receiver eventually, but he played a little of both.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: But yeah, champ Bailey is a good example at Georgia,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: but once he got to the pro Dion played a
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: lot of receiver for Dallas.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: Yeah, champ Bailly is the guy that he Travis Hunder
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: gets a lot of champ Bailey comps because they played
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: both ways in college.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: So it's funny because they always hear they make fun
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: of people like if he could catch, he would have
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: played receiver. But Charlad Hunder seems like he's got elite
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: ball skills, but he's still gravitated more towards cornerback, right
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: was that? I think that's been more his position right
- 1:08:08Speaker 4: over the course of this career.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: The people that don't think that he could do both
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: I think there's more people that think he's a better
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: corner than wide receiver.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I don't know. That doesn't mean they're right.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: Kieren in Ireland, says Fred, referring to Harold Landry as
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: Harvey Langy was my favorite moment of the off season
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: so far.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: To Reitery, was Harvey Lang Right, It wasn't even.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: I'm just worried. I'm gonna call it like it's going
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: to stick in my head now that Harold Landry is.
- 1:08:37Speaker 16: Oh, I know.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: We thought that he may have been thinking of Harvey Longi,
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: but he quickly corrected us on that. No, no, no, no, no,
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: that's not who he was thinking of. He was thinking
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: of Harvey lang who was actual Harold Landry, not KD.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Lang Not not to be confused with KD, A small
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: K called small D.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Right, let's see, Mike writes in and he says, lifelong
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: Patriots fan, been watching since Mike didn't have white hair
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: and Paul had hair. Oh, I need some Paul therapy.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: You've been around for a long time than my friend.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: I need some Paul therapy. I'll try. Obviously, since the
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: start of the season, we've wanted hunters and I'm so
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: stoked that these stooge franchises might convince themselves they need
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: quarterbacks and Hunter slides to us. But as the draft
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: gets close and I've watched more Campbell film and interviews,
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: part of me wants Hunter to be taken, so the
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Patriots will draft Campbell. Super mixed feelings here? Am I alone?
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Please help? I asked you for therapy. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: I can't give you therapy. I've been pretty consistent on
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Will Campbell. To me, it's all about his potential to
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: play the position, right, But what do you think? I
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: don't know enough to really have an opinion.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: I don't have an opinion.
- 1:09:52Speaker 9: No, I.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Can't tell you from watching a guy play in college.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: It's not my profession to say that guy's not going
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: to be able to play tackle at the NFL level.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: He's playing tackle at a high level in the SEC.
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: To me, hey, why can't he play? But experts seem
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: to be split on that. Some think he can. Some
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: think that the armlength there's going to be an issue.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: I don't know, but I think that Will Campbell is
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: a really good prospect. So I just I don't feel
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: qualified to say like he can't play Taco in the NFL.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: I think for me, it's like I said earlier, If
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: it's not Carter or Hunter at fourth overall, I'm gonna
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: have some questions at the fourth overall pick. I really
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: love Will Campbell. I love you know what the caller
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: said about his attitude. His demeanor brings a little bit
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: of swag to the position. But is it stupid that
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: like I would feel so much better to take him
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: at sixth than I would at fourth, Like it would
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: make me feel a little bit better to take him
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: a little bit lower to offset some of the uncertainty.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: If we can get Campbell in an extra pick, yeah,
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: I'm sign me up.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: You know, I just think there's some uncertainty no matter
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: who it is. If it's not Carter or Hunter at four,
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: there will be some debate about whether this pick will
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: work or not, whether you're taking somebody that you're projecting
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: or what.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Let me throw this out a thought. If the Patriots
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: end up picking at four mm, HM would be safe
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: to assume that they did not have a trade down partner.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: That in other words, if they can trade down, they're
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: gonna trade down.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: But if they love the guy or well, it's not
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: That's okay. That's why I'm asking, is it safe to
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: assume you can say no, it's not safe to assume no.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: I think you might be you might be right, but
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: I don't think it's an assumption that I'd be willing
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: to make because they might really like whoever they take
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: it for.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I'm sure they're gonna like who they took
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: you know, you know what I mean.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: I'm talking about really liking not telling us like we
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: didn't want to trade, right, right.
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: I don't know, but we didn't want to trade, but
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: I don't know if the package is going to be there.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Well, that's what I mean.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: So, like, I don't think you're going to have any offers.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: If the Patriots get at four and there's no Carter,
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: there's no Hunter, would the Patriots prefer to trade down?
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: That's the question I.
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: Would If that's the question, I would say probably yes.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: And you possibly miss out on a guy like Campbell
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: then right, Yeah.
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: I think it depends like on what is coming back, like,
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: it depends on the offer. You know, I'm not trading
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: down just to trade down, sure, but if it's a
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: good enough.
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: Offer, whatever you think is a good enough offer. Would
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: they rather do that or take somebody?
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: I would assume probably there's no you know me too,
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: This isn't the Patriots. This is so In other words,
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: there's no guy other than Carter or Hunter that the
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Patriots say we're not trading. We like this guy at four,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: we are not trading. Here's no one that they would
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: be willing to say that about. It makes me feel good.
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: I'd like to think that they felt that way about Like,
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: if they have that kind of conviction about Will Campbell, Yeah,
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: I think that that would ease my fears a little bit.
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: I think the only way that I could see that
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: is if they truly feel that Campbell's the only true
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: left tackle in that range, Like if they're not, if
- 1:13:11Speaker 5: they're more convinced of him playing tackle than Membu flipping
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: sides right, Like, if they don't feel like Membo is
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: truly a left tackle and is a right more of
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: a right tackle, then I guess maybe you'd feel compelled
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: to not lose out on Campbell. But I'm sure that
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: if they had a good offer, and you know something
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: I've been just thinking about, would team trade up for
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: shaudor like it sounds to me like he's at least
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: in the conversation for the Browns at two and the
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: Giants at three. I don't know if he's gonna win
- 1:13:42Speaker 5: out and they're gonna take him.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: But well that's our only hope. But they're at least.
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: Discussing him as an option there, which tells me that
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: it's not completely crazy to think that he's a top
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: ten pick in the draft. So is New Orleans at nine?
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: You know, do they say, well, we're gonna jump Vegas.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: We're gonna make sure nobody you know, behind us comes
- 1:14:02Speaker 5: up and gets them, and we're gonna go from nine
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: to four and draft shedor But.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: You can you could probably go from nine to five
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: and get Shador, right.
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: Yeah, But if somebody calls the Patriots at four and
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: offers them something, you know, somebody, Yeah, that's in your way,
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: then maybe you make the trade anyway, and then it's
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: a quarterback trade, so then you're getting a little bit
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: more if you're the Patriots. Like that's the problem is
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: if you're thinking about trade down and they're only trading
- 1:14:33Speaker 5: up to draft Will Campbell or draft ash and genty
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: or something, you're not gonna get what you would get
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: if it was a quarterback, right, So if four turns
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: into a quarterback pick and four is where Shador is
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: gonna go, then now all of a sudden there might
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: be a market for four.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: Yeah, that seems the only way that that path happens
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: is that the other two guys, Carter and Hunter go
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: up top. It pushes shut Or down. Yeah, and do
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: somebody want him? That's that, to me is really the
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: big question.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: A lot of people asking, yeah, well, what do you
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: guys think like percentages? Maybe, I mean I I.
- 1:15:05Speaker 4: Just the thing for me is I couldn't have predicted
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: last year that bo Nix was going to go as
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: high as he was. The league values quarterbacks so much,
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: and that, to me is the great unknown that we
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: can hear all these questions about shod Or and see, yeah,
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: he's a first round pick, but is he a top
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: ten pick? But I still think a team will probably
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: reach him, and I do think a team will likely
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: be interested to trade up for him, even if to me,
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: on paper, it makes the most sense to just sit
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: back and wait and if you don't get him, you
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: don't get them.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's what's going to happen, And that's
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: if you're asking me, now, now sit back and stay
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: three weeks, right, something like that.
- 1:15:35Speaker 10: Two.
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: Yeah. I think if if New Orleans just talked themselves
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: into him, I think they just sit tight at nine
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: and pick them at nine. Yeah, I mean I think
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: that's the most likely scenario.
- 1:15:44Speaker 5: There's definitely a case for that. I think you just
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: look at some of those teams lurking. You know, Pittsburgh
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: for example. You know there.
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Pittsburgh would be Denver, Denver move up football. I might
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: misremembering that it was maybe a couple of picks, but yeah,
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: so Pittsburgh could do it.
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: Yeah, A team like Pittsburgh looks at it and says,
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: you know, we want to come up to and we're
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: gonna jump New Orleans.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: And if your New Orleans do you say, yeah, well,
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: we're going to get to the front of the line.
- 1:16:12Speaker 5: I mean, that's the way the pick has value.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: That's what the Patriots need to hold.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Do we know it's your door going to Green Bay?
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: Is he going to be at the draft? I don't know,
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: but j be there.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: I know that they're they're trying to get more guys
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: to go to the draft and not do things on
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: their own. But Dion seems like a like we're gonna
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: sell marketing deals to Buffalo Wild Wings or something, and
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: we're gonna make millions off of Best Draft.
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: I was just thinking though, to Fred's point talking about
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: this is that if they aren't able to trade down,
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: that they're gonna have to do a little bit of
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: a cell job. I think on that fourth pick of
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: saying this is the guy we wanted, they can't go
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: in and kind of insinuate like, well, we kind of
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: want to get out of the spot we got stuck,
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: like they have to probably come out you sell and
- 1:16:54Speaker 4: like sell like this was he was there.
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: I have exhibit A to my left just Fred, Fred
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: can run this whole thing. You have an incredible knack
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: of making every pick exactly what you wanted, and I
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: think that's all you'd have to do. Okay, No, just
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: like I think that's an easy thing to do. You
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: don't have to go out and say, well, you know,
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: we really wanted to move down there, but we had
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: to make up pick. So welcome Will Campbell. Like they're
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: not going to do that.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: No, no team does that.
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: But I feel like with Will Campbell, it's the position
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: need is so glaring that that's that's an easy sell.
- 1:17:33Speaker 12: Right.
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: We needed a left tackle. We took the best left tackle.
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: You know, if they take Jalen Walker, then people, I
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: think are going to be like another linebacker, like, you know,
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: what are we doing?
- 1:17:44Speaker 10: Right?
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: But if you take a guy like Campbell, you know,
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: then you can sit there and say.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Well, and he played left tackle plug and play right
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: since he was born practically, Yeah, Tim and California right saying,
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: longtime listener, haven't missed the show in two years. Agree
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: with Paul, bring back the old red uniform to get
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: rid of the Buffalo blueberry uniforms. I disagree with Deuce Will.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Campbell at four is our pick. He played in the
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: SEC for several years at left tackle that should mean something.
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: He's better than any other tackle and has that Logan
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: Mankins aggressive and violent attitude. I like Jayden Higgins in
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: the second round, as Steven Smith Senior praised everything about
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: him while pointing out that Ted McMillan does not play
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: physical enough for his size and needs more coaching. Lastly,
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: at the third pick, grabbed the center from Georgia. Jared
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: Wilson the third pick, third round, third pick.
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: Jared Wilson's he's a good player, but it's a little
- 1:18:38Speaker 5: early first center.
- 1:18:40Speaker 4: I will not be disappointed at all if Will Campbell
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: is the selection. I just I would feel a little
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: bit better if you mitigated the risks by picking up
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: maybe an extra pick to trade down a couple spots
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: and still take him. But if they have to stick
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: and pick and take Will Campbell, I totally agree with
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: what he's saying. He's a left tackle.
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: Just don't say we had a stick and pick.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: Don't say.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Wolf whoever. We weren't going anywhere we're hearing from Campbell
- 1:19:03Speaker 3: fell to us. We knew different terminology when you're selling.
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: It to us.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: Plus, my son's name is Campbell, so I get Campbell
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: jersey for you.
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: So that's no, he's no Tyson Campbell. That was the
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: ultimate traffic for you.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: Right, let's go back to the hot line. We'll go
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: to Tim and Seattle. Hey Tim, some yeah that's going
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Hey Tim, it's a come down.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: He does sound to the north in Seattle. It's probably
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: raining raining here too.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Don't don't complain it is.
- 1:19:30Speaker 19: Raining, But I was just fat home in Boston was
- 1:19:32Speaker 19: raining all weekend.
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: Right, So that's what you're pissed that. I understand. You
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: try to get away from the rain and you get
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: more rain.
- 1:19:40Speaker 14: Yeah, blame it on the rain anyway.
- 1:19:44Speaker 19: So my feeling about I love Abdul Carter as a player,
- 1:19:47Speaker 19: but I can't get over this feeling that if we
- 1:19:49Speaker 19: pick him, it's just going to feel like a luxury
- 1:19:51Speaker 19: pick and we're not really helping Drake May and you.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Will you only have to score fifteen points to win the.
- 1:19:59Speaker 14: Game, I know.
- 1:20:03Speaker 19: That's My feeling is like, are we going back to
- 1:20:05Speaker 19: this thing of like, well, we just got to score
- 1:20:07Speaker 19: a couple of touchdowns and you know, we're praying to
- 1:20:09Speaker 19: God that you know, the offense can handle it. But
- 1:20:13Speaker 19: I really think we need to address offense in this draft.
- 1:20:17Speaker 19: And my feeling is, you know, I'm going to be
- 1:20:22Speaker 19: happy with Will Campbell or Tyler Warren, any of those
- 1:20:28Speaker 19: guys are trade down with Matthew Golden, but I think
- 1:20:33Speaker 19: we definitely need to pick up the tackle and wide
- 1:20:35Speaker 19: receiver in the first couple of rounds.
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: And it's kind of it's the.
- 1:20:39Speaker 19: Only one I'm going to be happy coming out of
- 1:20:40Speaker 19: this draft.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: Okay, there, all right? Thanks Tim?
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Those are the major needs, no doubt.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: Yeah, boys, he's down, he's listened to. Now, imagine if
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: they don't pick offense.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: I was, I was actually mast forwarding to the Thursday night,
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: April twenty fourth. Yeah, and you know we've picked and
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: it's not the guy that anybody wants.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, we're gonna get a.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Lot of those kinds of people could talk themselves into
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: because it's an offensive player. But if it's a defensive place,
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: you know, if it's Mason Graham.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I get what he's saying. I also just though
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: the more of the team building you go through, it's
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: like you can't orchestrate what you're going to be able
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: to get. And sometimes you have an opportunity and are
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: you going to be maybe a little bit heavy on
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: one side of the ball or one position maybe, But
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: if you have a chance to draft a player who's
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: clearly head and shoulders above the rest, you.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Have to do it. And I mean that Duel Carter
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: is the guy that reason yeah to take.
- 1:21:34Speaker 4: I know I'm not using this as a you know,
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: as an excuse me, but you know, last year, like
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: it didn't really line up that they got to tackle,
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: like they should have found a way to get one.
- 1:21:42Speaker 4: But it wasn't easy, and they didn't figure out a
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: way to do it. Sometimes that happens, and that was
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: an extreme case last year. That really was, you know,
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: unacceptable how it ultimately worked out. But you know, you
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: just you have to take what's available to you. And
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: that's why you were lucky last year. When you needed
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: a quarterback, you got the quarterback. You don't have this
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: em luck though probably this year. That's the that's the problem.
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: Uh, let's go back to the phones. Eldred's in North Carolina.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: What's up, Eldred, Aldred, Biggie Aldred? What's up? Aldred?
- 1:22:16Speaker 9: Oh?
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Well, must have gotten pulled over. Yeah, maybe maybe he's
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: talking to the officer. Dave's in Atlanta.
- 1:22:22Speaker 10: Hey, Dave, Hey am I aunt?
- 1:22:26Speaker 14: Yes, Hey guys, how you doing.
- 1:22:29Speaker 10: Uh? I listened to every show. I don't know if
- 1:22:31Speaker 10: you get a chance to call in because I'm always
- 1:22:33Speaker 10: on the road. But I had a chance today and
- 1:22:34Speaker 10: I wanted to call in. Uh so thanks to taking
- 1:22:37Speaker 10: my call. Anyways, Uh a long time, take your sandwich season,
- 1:22:40Speaker 10: take it holding back in the seventies. I have three thoughts.
- 1:22:44Speaker 10: If you can bear with me, because I never get
- 1:22:46Speaker 10: a chance to call I'm trying to be brief. I
- 1:22:49Speaker 10: have thoughts on the free agency class, thoughts on the draft, uh,
- 1:22:53Speaker 10: and I'm a one player at the current Rock. The
- 1:22:55Speaker 10: reason I called in today is because Evan talked to
- 1:22:57Speaker 10: him today and that's Mark Film. So my thoughts on
- 1:23:01Speaker 10: Pots go right to Marcus Jones. I believe Marcus Jones
- 1:23:05Speaker 10: is not a good fit for the current scheme as
- 1:23:08Speaker 10: they're probably setting it up, and I think he's going
- 1:23:10Speaker 10: to be a cut candidate coming out of camp, and
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: I really think that they should explore because I agree
- 1:23:17Speaker 10: with Evan. I think that they're going to end up
- 1:23:18Speaker 10: using Gigs in the slot. I think McDaniels is going
- 1:23:22Speaker 10: to try to maximize the root leunning ability over the
- 1:23:24Speaker 10: Bill and so I think Pop Belts is going to
- 1:23:26Speaker 10: have a lot of reduced playing time this year if
- 1:23:29Speaker 10: Bigs is healthy. And I would like to see them
- 1:23:32Speaker 10: trying to take Marcus Jones and move him permanently to
- 1:23:35Speaker 10: offense and make him a punt returner and make him
- 1:23:37Speaker 10: a spot receiver, have him played behind Digs. It's them
- 1:23:40Speaker 10: playing time on there because I think if they don't
- 1:23:42Speaker 10: do that, I think Mark Stones is not going to
- 1:23:44Speaker 10: be on the roster this year. Thought in the free
- 1:23:47Speaker 10: agency class is I think they had a good class.
- 1:23:50Speaker 10: I did a good job plugging some holes, But I
- 1:23:53Speaker 10: think we have to pump the brakes the fit on
- 1:23:56Speaker 10: being overly excited about how much they've transformed the team.
- 1:24:00Speaker 10: I like the Carlton Davis signing. I think that these
- 1:24:03Speaker 10: two linebackers they picked up are good signings. They're good
- 1:24:06Speaker 10: team fits. But let's be honest. I mean, you're not
- 1:24:08Speaker 10: gonna win a super Bowl with Jack Gibbons because a
- 1:24:10Speaker 10: undrafted CRE agency you know, man in the middle of
- 1:24:13Speaker 10: the defense once you got a bunch of all frozen
- 1:24:15Speaker 10: around them. Uh so because Jack Gibbons that you know
- 1:24:17Speaker 10: that other linebacker, Slane he is a good player. But
- 1:24:20Speaker 10: I personally think that this CRE agency class set them
- 1:24:24Speaker 10: up for what Label wants to do in the draft,
- 1:24:26Speaker 10: which the really focused on the front seven and on
- 1:24:29Speaker 10: the offensive line. I think there's zero Camps, zero Champs
- 1:24:33Speaker 10: that they're gonna take cash and vanity or style of Warren.
- 1:24:35Speaker 10: I don't think these guys are on their radar unless
- 1:24:38Speaker 10: they stay down. I think that what they're gonna do
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: is they're gonna take Will Campbell. Uh and if Will
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: Campbell isn't available. It's only because they trade down and
- 1:24:46Speaker 10: they lose the opportunity to get them.
- 1:24:48Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:24:49Speaker 10: And then in that case, maybe they take Jalen Walker
- 1:24:51Speaker 10: or something like that. But I think Campbell, you know,
- 1:24:53Speaker 10: like we talked about Hunter and Uh and Carter, those
- 1:24:57Speaker 10: are both transcendent talents. I don't know how Brabib will
- 1:25:00Speaker 10: be able to resist taking Carter if he's available. I mean,
- 1:25:05Speaker 10: it's the anchor that that pass rush. I think that
- 1:25:07Speaker 10: would be undeniable, irresistible. However, the reality is that we
- 1:25:14Speaker 10: can't lose the focus on the game plan of what
- 1:25:17Speaker 10: they're trying to do.
- 1:25:18Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:25:19Speaker 10: We have a quarterback and a rookie contract and he's
- 1:25:22Speaker 10: going to potentially be a superstar if we don't protect
- 1:25:25Speaker 10: his buyings. But we've been kicking tackle down the road
- 1:25:29Speaker 10: since the last Super Bowl. We haven't addressed it in
- 1:25:32Speaker 10: the years, and I think the criminal that we're actually
- 1:25:36Speaker 10: talking about, well, you know, like I love Evan, I
- 1:25:39Speaker 10: love I love your thanks Sevin and the receivers and
- 1:25:41Speaker 10: everything as great as Tavinth Hunter could be. When you
- 1:25:45Speaker 10: don't have to build the house before you furnish it,
- 1:25:47Speaker 10: I'm sorry, you've got to get the trench expect. I
- 1:25:51Speaker 10: don't care how great Sabath hunt is going to be.
- 1:25:53Speaker 12: You've got to.
- 1:25:54Speaker 10: Get a tackle at the top of the straft. I'm serious,
- 1:25:57Speaker 10: if you're a tackle or maybe maybe I could be
- 1:26:00Speaker 10: talking to Carnor uh, but personally, I would take Will
- 1:26:04Speaker 10: Campbell even if Carnor and Sabbath under on the boarder.
- 1:26:09Speaker 10: That's that's I just really think they need to solidify
- 1:26:13Speaker 10: that position UH as priority number one, and if they
- 1:26:16Speaker 10: get a chance to do it for I think they
- 1:26:18Speaker 10: got to do it. That's all I got got.
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: All right, thanks Dave. So, I mean, I get I
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: get what he's saying. I understand, But but here's my thing.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: If they don't address tackle at in the first round
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: with Will Campbell, that doesn't mean I don't believe. That
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: doesn't mean that they don't believe they still have to
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: address tackle. I think that they'll do other things to
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: address that spot this offseason, whether it's bringing in Tyron
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: Smith drafting, but.
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: It might not even be this year.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Like well, I don't think I would just I would
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: just take this year what they did last.
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: I would just push back on the kicking the can
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: down the road. If they don't think that Will Campbell
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: is a left tackle of the future. I don't think
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: not taking him represents kicking the can down the road.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: It's evaluating the talent that's available.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: But even if they do think that Will Campbell's going
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: to be a great, a good tackle in this league,
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: if you've got Travis Hunter or Carter, you got to
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: take him.
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: I'm sorry, but that's a different argument.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: I just he said he would even take that.
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: No, I know that's how.
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: He feels about it. And obviously we feel differently about
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: Catter and Hunter. I think all four of us would
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: take either Catter or Hunter if they're available, right, But
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: I just I don't think that it's like this huge
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: misstep if they don't think that Will Campbell's as good
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: as you think he is. Like, I don't know how
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: they feel about Will Campbell. Maybe they don't think of
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: him as a left tackle. And by the way, Kansas
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: City has won a fair amount of Super Bowls without
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: kicking the can down the road with their offensive line. Yeah,
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: Philadelphia has a great offensive line they've invested heavily in
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: and they just won the Super Bowl. That's one way
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: to do it. But I don't believe in the whole.
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: You have to build the foundation before the Like, there's
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: a million different ways to build a great football team,
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: and Kansas City and Philadelphia went about it in pretty
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: much entirely different ways.
- 1:28:03Speaker 5: I just think it comes back to, you know, in
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: my opinion, bad teams stay bad by passing on talent
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: for need right when you especially at that point in
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: the draft, there's no way that Travis Hunter is not
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: ahead of Will Campbell on your board. There's there's no
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: way that you have a higher grade on Will Campbell.
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: So you're taking a lesser talent at that spot as
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: a team that won four football games last year, Like
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: that's that's not good business, that's not good managing of
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: the of your assets. So if you take Travis Hunter
- 1:28:34Speaker 5: at the top of the draft, like now, we can't
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: get arianta Ursery or Josh Connery or Josh Simmons or
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: you know, like there's no other options like that.
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: That's why I'm saying not taking Will Campbell doesn't recom
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: doesn't to me represent kicking the canbell. And and let's
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: just say, like another thing that Dave said, and I
- 1:28:51Speaker 3: love Dave's call, by the way, but just sort of
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: given the other side of this. So Dave mentioned that
- 1:28:58Speaker 3: they have a potential superstar quarterback that they have to protect. Well,
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: if he's right, If Dave is right and Drake May
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: is a superstar in the making, I'm not sure he
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: needs the number four overall pick to be a left
- 1:29:11Speaker 3: tackle because he's a superstar, right, he doesn't need that level.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: He can be like, well, he needs competent play, but
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: he doesn't need a stupid correct and you.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: Can pay before what Evan says. And a guy in
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: the second round who can do you know, a serviceable job.
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: Nate Solder can can play, you know, instead of someone
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: taking the fourth overall pick. Ye, right, you know he
- 1:29:32Speaker 3: doesn't have to be If the better the quarterback is,
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: the more room you have for error on the margins.
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: You know, maybe if you get him a really good
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: wide receiver, like if Travis Hunter was available, that helps
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: make up for that a little bit, right, Yeah.
- 1:29:48Speaker 5: I mean, if they come out of this draft and
- 1:29:50Speaker 5: they haven't made a sizable investment in tackle, then I
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: think all of us will be critical of that. But
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: they have other picks.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: But I would also say, don't you think the offense.
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: Let's say that we're all wrong and then not able
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: to get anybody, and Vederian Low starts at left tackle.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Don't you still think the offensive line is better today
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: than it was last year? Yeah? Not enough.
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: It's not good.
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: Not enough.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: Better, But Morgan Moses at right tackle to me makes
- 1:30:15Speaker 3: you better?
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: Yeah, a little bit better.
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: You know, they had no tackles on either side last year.
- 1:30:21Speaker 3: They went with that controversial no tackle approach.
- 1:30:24Speaker 5: That's fair. I just think right now they have no
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: left side.
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: I don't expect that. I agree with Fred. I expect
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: them to do something. We may not love it, but
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: they'll do. I think they'll do something to address left tackle.
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: Like if they don't take a tackle in the first
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: round at four. You know, I just mentioned a couple
- 1:30:38Speaker 5: of names that are in range at thirty eight. Maybe
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: you have to trade up to secure one of those
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: guys back into the first round, which I think is
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: something that they tried to do last year and are
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: interested in doing. You know, I think they've shown that
- 1:30:50Speaker 5: they would do something like that. You could do that,
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: and you could double dip right, like you could take
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: a developmental tackle in the third or fourth round on
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: top of that and really had your bets, you know,
- 1:30:59Speaker 5: at that position. So just because you don't take the
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: tackle at for it doesn't mean you're not taking a tackle.
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: Right, So there was one thing that he said, again,
- 1:31:07Speaker 3: great call, because he touched on a ton of different things.
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: I'm curious to the thoughts of you guys about his
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: feeling on Marcus Jones. Yeah.
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: Well, we had the defensive coaches last week. It was funny,
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: we're getting down to the end with the cornerbacks coach
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: who I'm blanking on his name at the moment. But
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: one more question, and I asked him about that, how
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: do you see the slot position in the NFL today?
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: And he really talked about it being a matchup position,
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: which is how I see it. So I don't. I
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: don't really I understand what Dave's getting at, but I'm
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: not sure I do so I think I think he's
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: looking at a smaller player that he doesn't see.
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: I was a little confused at first because when he
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: talked about Marcus Jones with the slot, I thought he
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: was talking about offense.
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: Well he eventually was, but but I know, but like
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: he thinks that his style is not conducive to the
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: way they want to play now, And I would just
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: ask I. I'm going to ask specifically, and this is
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: a dead legit question. I'm not trying to be snarky
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: Paul here, what about Marcus Jones's style would not be
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: conducive to what I think is sort of man, Yeah,
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: that's what he does.
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: We've obviously talked to him, coach. We've talked about, you know,
- 1:32:21Speaker 5: having a little bit more size than there, a little
- 1:32:23Speaker 5: bit more durability certainly than Marcus Jones sometimes shows because
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: of his lack of size. But in terms of the
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: skill set, I have no idea why Marcus Jones.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: I'm not asking you how good you think Marcus Jones
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: is because you guys all know that I have my
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: concerns about Marcus Jones's coverage ability. I'm probably a little
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: bit down on him compared comparatively to most people. But
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: his style, like he's like physical spunk, He's a willing tackler,
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: you know, like he's a good athlete, mirrors Like I'm
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: just wondering about his skill set. Now, if you don't
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: think he's good enough, that's a different argument, right, But
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: it seemed to me that Dave was suggesting that his
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: style wasn't conducive to the way Vrabel's going to want
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: to play defense.
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: I mean they they said multiple times that they want
- 1:33:08Speaker 5: to play cat coverage, and if they're going to play
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: that on the outside, and that means the slot is
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: going to have to be in man to man too.
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: Marcus Jones a really good man to man slock corner.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Now he's playing dog coverage, he has limitations.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: Well, you know what cat coverage is, right, No, you
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: got that cat?
- 1:33:23Speaker 12: I got cat?
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, that's how I remember.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: It's not ball, no worth. That's that's kind of like.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: But I would also just say just Marcus Jones is
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: not playing offense full time. He's not doing it like
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: as long as he has a job in the NFL
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: playing the role that he wants to play. He's at
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: the point now and I don't blame him for it
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: where he's starting to kind of get annoyed about the
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: question about playing offense because it's like he fancies himself
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: as a defensive back. He does not think he's a receiver.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Well, the other part that I would say in his
- 1:33:55Speaker 3: defense too, is part of that is the size, like
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: us not just six', one you. Know, yeah that's significantly
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: bigger than with five Eight Marcus, jones.
- 1:34:10Speaker 5: Like five eight one.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: SEVENTY i just think, too he's a really good punt,
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: returner and for an offense that really struggled last, YEAR
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: i hope it's not the, same but you have a
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: legit piece that can help you gain some field. Position
- 1:34:20Speaker 4: we talked about letting him do kickoffs.
- 1:34:22Speaker 3: Too i'd be very, surprised you know WHAT i. MEAN
- 1:34:24Speaker 3: i make things happen with the ball in his. Hands
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: i'd like to tell YOU i wouldn't be surprised if
- 1:34:27Speaker 3: you told me any pretty much anyone was going to get.
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: CUT i think that would represent a real surprise.
- 1:34:31Speaker 4: Cut.
- 1:34:32Speaker 5: Yeah we've Asked Jeremy springer about him returning, kickoffs and
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: they've favored bigger kickoff returners because of how the it's very.
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: Physical uh you, know you're really getting getting whacked when
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: you get hit and, uh and so they're worried about
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: the smaller guys having. Durability so, uh they they've, favored you,
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: know the the bigger. Returners, now if it was the game,
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: right like if it's fourth, quarter we talked.
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: About it the other, day Artist jones maybe getting some.
- 1:35:01Speaker 3: Opportunities we talked about that.
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: Before, yeah you, know ten seconds to, go tie, game
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: fourth quarter and they're kicking it back to you and
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: you have one, return like maybe you put him back,
- 1:35:09Speaker 5: there you, know like teams would do with their best.
- 1:35:12Speaker 5: Player BUT i. DON'T i don't think he's going to
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: be like a regular kick.
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: Returner Josh wright send and this is an EMAIL a
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: good example of careful what you wish. For, Okay i've
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: noticed That christian From la has been awfully quiet since
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: the hate mail started pouring. In, christian don't let our
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: hate stop you from calling. In we might not like.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: YOU i KNOW i, don't but we, don't but We
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: New englanders are a bitter bunch that need a target
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: to fuel our. Rage you are The Don zimmer to
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Our Pedro, martinez The Sergio brown to Our Rob, gronkowski
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: The connecticut to Our. Massachusetts we need you more than you.
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: Know our relationship may be, toxic but deep down we love.
- 1:35:49Speaker 2: You so there you. Go see, now people miss it
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: color on color, love people Missing zue Ish, ish he.
- 1:35:57Speaker 3: Said people may hate, YOU i, do.
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: But he wants More christians From.
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: La patty's a going on In denver what's, Up?
- 1:36:05Speaker 9: Patty did you see?
- 1:36:06Speaker 5: It they cleaned house?
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: Gentlemen who has general manager?
- 1:36:09Speaker 4: Too?
- 1:36:10Speaker 14: Wow so does that.
- 1:36:11Speaker 10: Mean travis In West virginia really liked me and likes
- 1:36:14Speaker 10: WHEN i call?
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: In because, well, no he doesn't like, it but he
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: likes when you call. It, Yeah, no that's just, us.
- 1:36:22Speaker 20: All, RIGHT i got you. Calling, Yeah so more draft
- 1:36:26Speaker 20: TALK i want to throw out. THERE i was listening
- 1:36:29Speaker 20: to The gards podcast yesterday and he wasn't the first
- 1:36:33Speaker 20: person to bring it. Up he had a mock draft
- 1:36:36Speaker 20: and he had The patriots Taken Jalen walker at number
- 1:36:40Speaker 20: four and then had him trading back into The minnesota
- 1:36:43Speaker 20: pick at number twenty, Four AND i, think, like he's
- 1:36:47Speaker 20: not the first person to say, That LIKE i, said
- 1:36:50Speaker 20: AND i think that's kind of that's kind of a running,
- 1:36:53Speaker 20: narrative like if we don't get the tackle that we
- 1:36:54Speaker 20: want at, four just trade The minnesota's. Pick, well that's
- 1:36:59Speaker 20: that's kind of a danger or a game in my,
- 1:37:00Speaker 20: opinion because we, Thought evan you brought it. Up we
- 1:37:03Speaker 20: saw last, year LIKE i was GETTING i was here
- 1:37:06Speaker 20: at things that they were going to trade up The buffalo.
- 1:37:09Speaker 20: Pick and Then carolina came in with a better. Offer
- 1:37:11Speaker 20: so who's to say that that can't happen.
- 1:37:13Speaker 10: Again you, KNOW.
- 1:37:15Speaker 20: I would be more comfortable if they're not if they're
- 1:37:17Speaker 20: not a fan Of Will, Campbell like if they like
- 1:37:20Speaker 20: Even banks or OR ar three Or, conray just, like
- 1:37:24Speaker 20: trade down to the teams thatccumulate more assets and take
- 1:37:27Speaker 20: the guy that you. Want that's ALL i, got, Guys.
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: All, right Thanks.
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: Patty, Yeah i'm not surprised that there's some buzz About Jalen.
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: WALKER i, Mean mike AND i said it In february
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: that this, guy.
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: Oh, yeah guys That i've been talking myself into started
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: with you. Guys, absolutely he is.
- 1:37:42Speaker 5: A professional football, Player like he is a, Captain he
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: is a. Leader he is going to win over every
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: single coach in a thirty visit and a private workout
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: and a combine. Meeting, uh he's a little bit of a,
- 1:37:54Speaker 5: tweeter LIKE i think that's like the one concern is
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: like is he a rush? Linebacker is he an off ball?
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: Linebacker you, know he's kind of caught in. Between but
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: if you give him to a creative coaching staff that
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: you trust on that side of the, football he's going
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: to be a, really really good football player for a.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: While i'm just intrigued by By jogia defensive players because
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: all it takes there's somewhere AROUND i don't, know ten
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: to a dozen in RECENT i, say call it five,
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: years and how many of them haven't really worked? Out
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: most of them have been at least pretty good, players
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: if not.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: Great, yeah the comp that he gets a lot Is Nolan.
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: Smith like as a pure edge guy, PLAYER i don't
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: know if he's quite as like big and like strong
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: As Nolan smith is on the.
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: Edge Was Nolan smith coming out?
- 1:38:43Speaker 5: Though, yeah probably around two.
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: Forty you know what Happens mike at THE nfl, level
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: skinless chicken they in the, PROGRAM i think learn. NUTRITION
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: i think.
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: He's high tower, right, like he's off the ball on
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: early downs and then on third down you put him
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: on the edge and or over the you, know the
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: guard or whatever and uses his quickness and speed to
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: rush the.
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: Basket put him next to splaying every.
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: Day his instincts are. Incredible those two.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: Guys boom around edge. Coverage you could do everything with.
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: HIM i mean IT'S i get what everybody's saying, though
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: with like you spend so much time on, defense you
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: signed two, Guys but that's still a. Player pencil him
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: right in starter.
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: One he's, different he's a. Playmaker, like he's a little bit.
- 1:39:21Speaker 5: DIFFERENT i would, say you, know than like a splain
- 1:39:25Speaker 5: like explains a nice of player. LIKE i Think Jalen
- 1:39:27Speaker 5: walker has a chance to be a true like difference.
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: Maker let's splain do the dirty. Work, yeah The walker
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: float around me Place mark's And.
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: Philly what's?
- 1:39:35Speaker 9: Up?
- 1:39:35Speaker 10: Mark, hey, guys how's it?
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: Going you ever been to The Victor? Cafe?
- 1:39:43Speaker 12: Nah ah?
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: Yet well you gotta.
- 1:39:45Speaker 23: Go, well my question is kind of about a hypothetical
- 1:39:51Speaker 23: in the, draft SO i want to see what you
- 1:39:55Speaker 23: guys think about. That, Say Travis hunter Goes Abdul carter
- 1:39:59Speaker 23: Goes patriots to sit and there. FOUR i think they
- 1:40:03Speaker 23: trade with The. Saints they drop back to nine and
- 1:40:07Speaker 23: they pick up crit Ol Lava.
- 1:40:10Speaker 20: And with the ninth, PICK i think.
- 1:40:12Speaker 23: You Go Tyler, warren mainly Because Hunter henry is in
- 1:40:18Speaker 23: his last year of his. Contract with that being, said
- 1:40:22Speaker 23: you solidify another young wide receiver that dates can teach,
- 1:40:28Speaker 23: us and you solidify your tight end position for the
- 1:40:32Speaker 23: next ten years With Ala. WARREN i think in the
- 1:40:36Speaker 23: second round that's when you take your tackles and like
- 1:40:40Speaker 23: you guys said a little bit ago about double dipping
- 1:40:42Speaker 23: later in the, round that's WHAT i would say would
- 1:40:45Speaker 23: be the best case scenario for the.
- 1:40:47Speaker 15: Past that's ALL i.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: Got, oh, okay hang.
- 1:40:50Speaker 5: Up, Yeah henry has two years.
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: Left, yeah that's gonna say two years.
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: Last but it's NOT i understand where he's.
- 1:40:58Speaker 3: Going, YEAH i Mean chris Alave i've. Heard i've heard
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: that a, lot you, know get a lobby AND i
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: think he's a terrific. PLAYER i think that that comes
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: with tremendous. Risk to me is that's multiple concussions in
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: a short period of time for a young receiver, who
- 1:41:14Speaker 3: by the, way is coming to the precipice of you
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: need to pay him if you want. Them, so, yeah
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: that's all well and. Good Maybe Stefan, diggs you, KNOW
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: i don't know why that's his job and responsibility to
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: teach him, Up but how are you going to keep?
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Him and if You're New orleans LIKE i don't know
- 1:41:35Speaker 3: If i'm The, PATRIOTS i just that's All i'm getting
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: to go from four to nine Is chris Alve Is
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: that is that?
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: Enough?
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: NO i Think chris the love in a third at.
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: Minimum So i'm intrigued by a lobby BECAUSE i think
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: he's really. TALENTED i really really like the. Player i'm
- 1:41:51Speaker 3: a little worried about the.
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: Concussions oh it's a fair. CONCERN i, MEAN i don't
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: think you can count on him being consistently.
- 1:41:59Speaker 4: AVAILABLE i wouldn't be surprised if they do not take
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: an impact wide receiver in this. Draft that's the position
- 1:42:05Speaker 4: that everyone talks about as a need right. Now but
- 1:42:08Speaker 4: that's one that they don't fill. That it's just it
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: doesn't it's not the Right they got digs for the
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: for the short. Term they got, digs they Added hollins
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: and draft and they think that they can get with.
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: That you, know like if you say they you'd be
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: surprised they don't pick an Impact that means second.
- 1:42:23Speaker 4: Round, Right, YEAH i MEAN I i, Yeah Like i'm
- 1:42:26Speaker 4: not Talking day three. Selection BUT i think you got
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: to hit the running back. Class they need an, edge
- 1:42:31Speaker 4: they need a young. Edge it's a great edge. Class
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: if they don't get a good impact edge in this,
- 1:42:35Speaker 4: Class i'll be. Disappointed but it's. Hard like one of
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: the callers said to look at this wide receiver class
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: and be, like that's the guy that's the. One, like
- 1:42:43Speaker 4: you can pencil guys in that are complementary to what they.
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: Have AND i know everyone dislikes the receivers from last,
- 1:42:49Speaker 4: year but at some point you have to let your
- 1:42:52Speaker 4: ten wide receivers on the roster. Develop you can't just
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: keep adding guys and adding guys and adding. Guys you
- 1:42:57Speaker 4: got to bite the bullet at some. Point this year
- 1:42:58Speaker 4: might be a. Hit see how they.
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: DO i don't know about the last part of, that
- 1:43:02Speaker 3: like if they can't, play LIKE i don't have to,
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: KNOW i, know BUT i just don't know if they're
- 1:43:06Speaker 3: convincing you guys Like, digs WHO i think are better
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: than those. Guys, yeah that's WHAT i want to.
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: DO i would just LIKE i agree with you for
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: the most. PART i just, think you, know maybe in
- 1:43:15Speaker 5: the third or fourth round you can throw another.
- 1:43:17Speaker 9: Dart.
- 1:43:17Speaker 3: YEAH i agree With mike that it might not Be,
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: yeah BECAUSE i have That, higgins that's.
- 1:43:22Speaker 4: Probably the better way. Out and it's going to be
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: a dart and it's not going to be a slam.
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: Dunk we got a guy across From. Digs it's going
- 1:43:28Speaker 4: to be a guy who's going to enter the mix
- 1:43:30Speaker 4: With polk And baker And bourne and all these guys And.
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: Booty there's a ton of them and they're gonna see
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: What josh can do with these. Guys and who are
- 1:43:38Speaker 4: they REALLY i don't think they've given up on everybody.
- 1:43:40Speaker 4: YET i mean, AGAIN i said at the top of the,
- 1:43:42Speaker 4: SHOW i love seeing all those wide receivers popped up
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: in these. Videos they're all here right. Now that's a good,
- 1:43:47Speaker 4: sign but they have to prove. It AND i JUST
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: i just wonder if there is out on their wide
- 1:43:51Speaker 4: receivers as the show looks.
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: Like me and out is, like let let's say that
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: we're in, okay so let's go With, Booty, Douglas, Polk.
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: Bake what do you think the highest level give me
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: a comp for any of those? Four what do you mean, like,
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: LIKE i think if we're in on them and they
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: all stick, around they all. Stay LIKE i just think
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: that the ceiling is not very, High like the ceiling
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: is like the complimentary guys that they've had in the,
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: past like The, Lafel's, yeah that's not good.
- 1:44:22Speaker 4: Enough, WELL i guess my response to that is JUST
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: i don't see the way in the draft to really
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: improve on. That LIKE i don't see.
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: That it's just a different argument BECAUSE i agree with.
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: YOU i think that you, GUYS i, mean AND i
- 1:44:35Speaker 3: always defer to YouTube because you're doing far more in
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: terms of situating the board and where guys might. GO
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: i think you guys are. Right you're probably not going
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: to get that's you probably don't have the luxury of
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: being able to take one of these wide receivers because
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: you have some other things that you. NEED i think
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: they got. DIGS i think you can't just like magically
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: fill seventeen holes at, once like some things are you,
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: know are going to get left. Unfilled and if you
- 1:45:00Speaker 3: don't Get Will campbell at four because you don't think
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: he's a, tackle you're gonna have to take a tackle
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: with the next. PICK i, think, yeah they didn't have
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: to do, something.
- 1:45:08Speaker 5: AND i think like McDaniels can probably do more with lesser. Receivers,
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: yeah like if you give him a decent line And
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: drake may, obviously LIKE i think that you can probably
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: still you, Know Nack jones' rookie, Year Nelson aglore And
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: Kendrick bourne And Hunter. Henry it wasn't like they had you,
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: know Prime Randy moss on that team and they had
- 1:45:29Speaker 5: a decent. Offense SO i agree With mike that it's
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: either receiver early or receiver. Late like there doesn't really
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: feel like there's like that day two got to have
- 1:45:40Speaker 5: him receiver in this.
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: Class it'd be interesting to see how it. Unfolds but
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: you know IT'S I i agree with, you. GUYS i
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: don't know if you can get.
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: Everything, YEAH i mean the WAY i think about it,
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: is you deal with it this. Year you Hope drake
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: has a great. Year you Hope diggs gets healthy and
- 1:45:57Speaker 4: gets himself in position to really be back the year
- 1:46:00Speaker 4: after for whoever that.
- 1:46:01Speaker 9: Means at thirty.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: Two but then really next year be in the position
- 1:46:04Speaker 4: where we feel like we have the left, tackle we
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: drafted a stud defensive. End defense feels pretty. Set now's
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: the time to pour a bunch of resources and go
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: get the. Dog, good get that.
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: Number let's.
- 1:46:13Speaker 9: Go.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: Mike you always say LIKE i always find red flags
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: when it doesn't, Right So i'm going to go the opposite.
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: Way let's say that this really really, works really really.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: Well that to me would Represent diggs is pretty healthy
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: and he's available to go at pretty close to one
- 1:46:27Speaker 3: hundred percent pretty early in the, season and he establishes
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: himself as your. Best now that might Make booty And
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: polk And douglas better, players and that might make them
- 1:46:39Speaker 3: being A LaFell or A hogan or someone like that more.
- 1:46:43Speaker 3: Valuable Mac, collins you, know is another one of those,
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: guys and suddenly to you to the point That evan
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: made McDaniels has an ability to maybe scheme these this
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: is best case scenario, now, Right diggs is, healthy he's
- 1:46:56Speaker 3: your lead. Dog everybody else gets better because of. Him
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: and if you can Protect drake mate just a little bit, better,
- 1:47:03Speaker 3: right And may's, better maybe maybe you have that natural
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: progression in your offense become.
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: Serviceable.
- 1:47:09Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah there's a couple of, receivers like in the
- 1:47:11Speaker 5: third or fourth Round range two THAT i think are
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: worth throwing darts. At you, know both of us Love Isaiah.
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: Bond now he does some maturity, issues kind of Like
- 1:47:19Speaker 5: Javon baker that some teams are a little bit worried
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: about with, That but like the talent is. UNDENIABLE i,
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: mean you, know this guy was on track to be
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: like the next gill And waddle At alabama before you,
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: know he ran into some. Issues so he's got an unbelievable.
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: Talent you, know there's guys like that THAT i think
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: just can come in and if it's a, hit then
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: it's going to be a home run and maybe that's
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: worth it for. Them and if if it's, not then,
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: it's you, know another one of the many. Misses but,
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: yeah you, know it's kind of a boomer.
- 1:47:49Speaker 2: Bust Fort worth writes IN i was enjoying last week's,
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: newsletter and you can sign up for the newsletter at
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: pages dot com slash Pu. Newsletter you should do, that
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: specifically the section about who from history you would all
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: like to? Meet after Reading duce's Pick Benjamin, CHURCH i
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: did a Cursory wikipedia search on him and found out
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: he was A british buy during The Revolutionary. War so
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: my question, Is, deuce of all the people dead are
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: alive that you could have, said why would you want
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: to meet a trader from the.
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: Revolution now you're.
- 1:48:19Speaker 4: Wrong that's his. Grandson that's WHY i put his born
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: and born on in debt by, Date so he was
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: generation before. That so you got to go back To
- 1:48:26Speaker 4: wikipedia and look up the Right Benjamin.
- 1:48:28Speaker 2: Church, yeah so why why didn't you pretend to let
- 1:48:32Speaker 2: The church?
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: Is really he was second generation after The, pilgrims and
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: was largely credited with originating like the rangers of The
- 1:48:41Speaker 4: army being learning how to Use Native american tactics and
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: really a huge influence on The Revolutionary war and how
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: we fought against The, british The british because originally when
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: we got, here we thought we fought the same. Way
- 1:48:55Speaker 4: Lineup Marshall. Refield obviously The americans were hit and run
- 1:48:59Speaker 4: and all the tactics then that The americans. Adopted so
- 1:49:02Speaker 4: in my research at King, fields So Benjamin church was
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: at all the major major battles of King Philis. War
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: and then AFTER i discovered, HIM i discovered that he's
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: actually my first cousin eleven times removed as, well look.
- 1:49:12Speaker 2: At this another thing we find out about DOING i
- 1:49:15Speaker 2: knew there was, something did you know there was something underneath?
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: First so he's basically The.
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: Patriot, well getting in The patriot that was based On Benjamin,
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: church even though they happened about one hundred, years one
- 1:49:25Speaker 4: hundred years. Apart but, Yeah Benjamin church original Like americans
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: are let down to your, family you, know, WELL i definitely.
- 1:49:33Speaker 4: Away i'm getting to be an old man in a
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: history nerd NOW i don't know if that's hitting you guys.
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: Too but AS i become, OLDER i read more books about, history.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: AND i do crossroads and Watch jeopardy my old.
- 1:49:45Speaker 2: AGE i, mean twinkle toast is so. Right you got
- 1:49:49Speaker 2: bench church else in your family tree that we should know.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: About, well it connects to one of the one of
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: the Original pilgrims was was an ancestor of, mine and
- 1:49:59Speaker 4: he's a lot an ancestor for a lot of people
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: because he had the foresight not to bring his wife
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: and his three daughters. Over his name Was Richard, warren
- 1:50:06Speaker 4: so he came over alone on The, mayflower got settled
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: up for a, year then brought his daughters and his
- 1:50:12Speaker 4: wife over and they all the daughters, lived got, married
- 1:50:15Speaker 4: each had a bunch of. Kids so a lot of
- 1:50:16Speaker 4: people were related to The pilgrims that related To Richard.
- 1:50:19Speaker 2: Warren, wow, dude you go way.
- 1:50:22Speaker 5: BACK i, mean he has the twenty eight to three.
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: Tea, actually CAN i tell CAN i tell one more quick?
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: Story actually this IS i. Guess So i've told a
- 1:50:29Speaker 4: story about the twenty eight three t BEFORE i told
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: you guys that my grandfather had actually passed away On
- 1:50:34Speaker 4: march twenty eighth in two thousand and. One it was
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: also my grandparents In East. Dennis there mailbox was three twenty.
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: Eight then the three twenty EIGHT t shirt. Happened when
- 1:50:44Speaker 4: we first moved, here we rented a house And sharon
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: next to a wonderful. Family Joe kurtzer was the man's
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: name next door and his Wife. Phyllis wonderful family took us.
- 1:50:52Speaker 4: In we're great to. US i just found Out joe passed.
- 1:50:55Speaker 4: AWAY i went to his. Service he passed away On
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: march twenty eighth as, well SO i have both my
- 1:51:00Speaker 4: Grandfather Joe kurtz are a very special person to, me passed,
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: away AND i JUST i couldn't believe. IT i walked
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: into the wake AND i saw that he had passed
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: away on three twenty eight, Two AND i said To,
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: joe who was aware of THE t shirt and has the,
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: teacher and, LIKE i didn't think the state could get more,
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: special but now it.
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: Is so every day every year When i'm gonna get around, friend,
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: like what's gonna?
- 1:51:19Speaker 4: HAPPEN i, Know that's WHAT i said to my. Wife i'm,
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: Like i'm, Like i'm gonna start getting scared every three
- 1:51:23Speaker 4: twenty eight BECAUSE i feel like it's something like.
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: Good things gonna happen.
- 1:51:26Speaker 4: Too, yeah well it's been one good.
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: Thing AND i had a really hard time answering that.
- 1:51:30Speaker 3: Question yeah did you?
- 1:51:33Speaker 2: Guys, yeah because you do like so MANY i don't
- 1:51:35Speaker 2: have so many. Selections oh you don't want to meet? Anybody,
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: no it's, not but believe it was no.
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: Curiosity but the answer to that, were, like like any
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: any of those Like George, washington LIKE i, WOULD i, Would, yeah,
- 1:51:48Speaker 3: SURE i, mean BUT i don't really feel like that
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: about anybody like you, know like That Matt, smith like
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: That jed.
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: It's my, guy Like.
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: Jewel well that's WHY i, said like IF i from
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: what the story, is, like you, know it had to
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: Be jesus like. That but that was.
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: Kind BUT i took it like that like someone that,
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: like oh my, GOD i can't Believe i'm going to
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: get a chance to MEET, x, Right like the curiosity
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: of meeting like on a nation's Like. Forefather, absolutely and
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: you know guys that are at the cutting edge of
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: technology or.
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: Whatever you, know Cir cleopatra was, hot you wouldn't want
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: to meet.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: HER i had a really hard, TIME i, said you,
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: know aside from you, know my wedding day and my
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: two kids being. BORN i don't know If i've ever
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: been as excited As Matt smith was when he Met Guy.
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: Fieri SO i don't know IF i can possibly put.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: Myself you wouldn't want to know what the ruckus was
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: About helen Of. Troy you, know she's like historically.
- 1:52:44Speaker 4: Beautiful, Though, FRED i think you'd be a little bit.

- 1:52:54Speaker 5: Would be a fascination with that nonsports non sport for

- 1:53:12Speaker 4: depth to ask the right? Questions SO i wouldn't EQUALS
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: mc square? Huh had you come up with that?

- 1:54:54Speaker 15: Trevor, hey, Guys sorry to take it back to football.
- 1:54:59Speaker 15: HERE i just had a question About Luther burton. Specifically
- 1:55:04Speaker 15: SO i think he's being underrated. PERSONALLY i think he's
- 1:55:07Speaker 15: the best receiver in the. Draft if you want to Say,
- 1:55:09Speaker 15: HUNTER i get, it BUT i Say. Burton so my questions, are,
- 1:55:15Speaker 15: one do you think that we are interested In burton
- 1:55:18Speaker 15: with the supposed off field? ISSUES i don't fully agree
- 1:55:21Speaker 15: with some of. That and, two how do you think
- 1:55:23Speaker 15: he would fit into our? Offense? Personally my comp for
- 1:55:27Speaker 15: him is a Young Steve smith.
- 1:55:28Speaker 7: Senior, yeah probably great player AND i don't hate the comp, no,
- 1:55:35Speaker 7: YEAH i try.
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: PHYSICAL i don't hate the. Camp, yeah he's he's a great.
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: Player you. KNOW i think most of the off field
- 1:55:43Speaker 5: stuff you hear about his maturity not necessarily that he's
- 1:55:46Speaker 5: done anything, wrong just, that you, know and. Stuff how
- 1:55:50Speaker 5: locked in is he going to Be monday Through? Saturday you,
- 1:55:53Speaker 5: know like is he is he going to be on the?
- 1:55:56Speaker 5: Program you know that sort of. Thing Brady cook has
- 1:55:59Speaker 5: a lot to do with. That that is a big
- 1:56:02Speaker 5: part of.
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: IT i do as.
- 1:56:05Speaker 5: WELL i THINK i don't think he's the best receiver
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: in the, class BUT i think he's a first round.
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: Talent BUT i mean be in top three.
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: Anyway, YEAH i, uh you, KNOW i.
- 1:56:13Speaker 5: Can See steve miss. Senior you, KNOW i think a
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: lot of. Him SO i try not to comp players
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: to guys that are, that you, know Potential hall of,
- 1:56:21Speaker 5: famers but you, KNOW i see a lot of Z
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: flowers in burden as. Well just start stopability three, levels you,
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: know a slot you know he's going to play, inside
- 1:56:31Speaker 5: but explosive player before and after the.
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: Catch, yeah SO i think we all like.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: Him quick quick game For steve From. Marblehead translate these
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: top tier draft candidates From fred To. English, Example Tarvis,
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: FISHER i Mean Travis fisher is For, Fred Travis Hunt
- 1:56:49Speaker 2: hunter So Fisher Hunter, Ready Calvin, Baker Calvin Kelvin, Banks
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: Kelvin Kelvin banks good but kacky North, wall M Little
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: lad McConkey mcacky North. Wall think about you have to
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: be a fan of a FAMOUS tv, show North wall Of,
- 1:57:18Speaker 2: Thrones Malauchey, Starts. Malachia La.
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: Fred gave a different version About, Malachi, Joe Henry, Campers.
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: Joe Henry camper's uh, Tense.
- 1:57:36Speaker 2: Joha campbell and Finally Emmanuel.

- 1:57:50Speaker 3: Game don't make fun of.
- 1:57:52Speaker 5: Me it's a tough.
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: One let's get To. Joe what's? Up he got dropped?
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: Earlier what's, Up? Joe Jo?
- 1:57:58Speaker 9: Joe they got for taking my?
- 1:58:00Speaker 14: Call SO i got a, QUESTION i guess probably For evan,
- 1:58:06Speaker 14: specifically just about a player in the. Draft BUT i
- 1:58:09Speaker 14: think as things go on, here it seems to me That.
- 1:58:14Speaker 10: Will campbell's to pick a number.
- 1:58:15Speaker 14: FOUR i Don't travishner is not going to be there
- 1:58:21Speaker 14: At Luke kier is not going to be, there And
- 1:58:23Speaker 14: i'm fine with. THAT i think he's going to be
- 1:58:27Speaker 14: At he's just going to be a football, player a good.
- 1:58:31Speaker 14: Leader he's going to help that offensive line one way
- 1:58:33Speaker 14: or the. Other either, way AND i think.
- 1:58:35Speaker 10: It's a safe.
- 1:58:36Speaker 14: Pick he led that offensive line AT lsu for for
- 1:58:41Speaker 14: all those, years So i'm fine with.
- 1:58:43Speaker 10: That and Then i'd like him.
- 1:58:45Speaker 14: To be aggressive in the draft AND i hopefully kind
- 1:58:47Speaker 14: of trade maybe trade back up into the first round
- 1:58:50Speaker 14: and target a. RECEIVER i Love Jaydon. Higgins we want
- 1:58:55Speaker 14: that ex wide, receiver, RIGHT i, mean for years we've
- 1:58:58Speaker 14: had and right now the receiver just full of kind
- 1:59:01Speaker 14: of small guys and.
- 1:59:02Speaker 10: Stuff so.
- 1:59:04Speaker 14: Looking for that bigger guy Like Jaydan. Higgins but my,
- 1:59:07Speaker 14: QUESTION i guess, specifically IS i haven't heard a lot
- 1:59:12Speaker 14: of talk About ELICK A manner From. Stanford he seems
- 1:59:18Speaker 14: kind Of Jaydean higgins. Type AND i Guess i'll just
- 1:59:22Speaker 14: hang up and listen to what you have to say about.
- 1:59:24Speaker 5: Him, Okay, yeah interesting. Player you, know a couple of years,
- 1:59:28Speaker 5: ago put up like almost three hundred yards Against Travis
- 1:59:32Speaker 5: hunter In, Colorado so probably the best tape anybody's.
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: Had a huge.
- 1:59:36Speaker 3: UPSET i remember, That, YEAH i remember.
- 1:59:38Speaker 5: That, yeah probably the best game that any receiver has
- 1:59:41Speaker 5: had Against Travis hunter the corner two years. Ago, Yeah Ao.
- 1:59:46Speaker 5: Manor he reminds me a little bit of, juju like good,
- 1:59:48Speaker 5: juju Not patriots. Juju SO i don't know if i'd
- 1:59:52Speaker 5: necessarily say he's like an outside, guy uh per, se
- 1:59:56Speaker 5: like he definitely has some vertical. Juice but you know
- 1:59:59Speaker 5: he's a thicker, guy you, know like really good on
- 2:00:01Speaker 5: slants and like in cuts and you, know tough to
- 2:00:04Speaker 5: bring down after the, catch you, know like that sort of.
- 2:00:07Speaker 5: THING i like, him BUT i wouldn't say, that you,
- 2:00:12Speaker 5: KNOW i love him for, McDaniels, like he's not really
- 2:00:15Speaker 5: like a route, runner you, know he's kind of a
- 2:00:17Speaker 5: more of a of a. Specimen he's pretty new to football.
- 2:00:20Speaker 5: Too is From. Canada you, KNOW i think he played
- 2:00:23Speaker 5: soccer or. HOCKEY i forget which one it, was but
- 2:00:25Speaker 5: one of those two is an option for him, instead
- 2:00:29Speaker 5: and so he was kind of focused on.
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: Two.
- 2:00:31Speaker 5: Yeah, no he's an interesting, player one of those guys
- 2:00:34Speaker 5: we're talking, about like you, know third, Round like if
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: you wanted to take a dart throw at one of those,
- 2:00:39Speaker 5: Receivers i'd put him in that.
