- 0:00These two fabulous people on board.
- 0:02I've got Armour and I've got Valentina.
- 0:05Hi guys. How are you?
- 0:06Hello, good. How are you?
- 0:07Excited to have you both because fantastic.
- 0:10Thank you so much for allowing me to interview you guys today
- 0:14because you've got something coming up that I think is quite
- 0:18revolutionary and quite like it's going to change the sector
- 0:21in different ways for People's Choice and control.
- 0:23So if you don't mind if we can get straight into it, let's do
- 0:25it. Excellent.
- 0:26So what made you guys want to build a Australian Australians
- 0:32therapy hub? Like what?
- 0:33What was the inkling that you guys wanted to?
- 0:36Do it. I started with a being in a very
- 0:38frustrating position, being in the sector, seeing the same
- 0:41frustrations again and again from both side, from the
- 0:43participants and from providers and support workers as well.
- 0:46Providers stretched in doing long days, travelling constantly
- 0:50wasting time on things. They, they should really be
- 0:53focusing on this skilled sort of thing instead of travelling and
- 0:56dragging through the systems, systems that didn't really talk
- 0:59to each other at the time. Participants are losing funding,
- 1:02therapy funding. They should be using on on the
- 1:04entire things like travel admin, which didn't really feel right.
- 1:08It wasn't really about blaming anyone, but more about realizing
- 1:10the system doesn't really work itself and wasn't really up to
- 1:13the standard. ITH came about came from from
- 1:16asking what if participants and support workers could be
- 1:20actually spending more time on providing what they're supposed
- 1:23to the care and focusing on the participant instead of things
- 1:26that that could be done better. It's not about controlling them.
- 1:33Right. So this you guys have a NDIS
- 1:35company. So is it from having that FDIS
- 1:38company that you decided there was a gap missing and we were
- 1:41missing something and we could do it better?
- 1:43That is correct, yes. So that's how we figured out the
- 1:46the gaps that we were facing and they were not really systems
- 1:49that did really everything and talking to other companies to
- 1:51build those for us wasn't really working out.
- 1:53So we thought we'd go out and actually do it ourselves to help
- 1:56out the participant and the providers.
- 1:58So when you you thought about like when you first had this,
- 2:02did you just turn to Valentina one day and say what do you
- 2:05reckon? Or was it the other way around?
- 2:09Who? Who thought of it first?
- 2:11It was a MA. Yeah, it was me that was, I
- 2:15still remember the day I was having the conversation with
- 2:17her. It was in the car and I was
- 2:19like, I'm building this thing and she's going, what is it
- 2:22like? I always did it the first time
- 2:23and she had like no idea what I was talking about.
- 2:25I was thinking about for a while and like work, I'll definitely
- 2:28work. It's something that's going to
- 2:29help participants. I'm hearing it from the
- 2:30therapist. I feel like it's something
- 2:32that'll definitely work. So let's, let's try it out.
- 2:34And then after that, we spoke to some therapists.
- 2:37We spoke to participants. They were loving the idea of
- 2:38having everything in one and instead of participants, you
- 2:42know, going paying for something that like admin stuff and all
- 2:45those sort of thing that can really be automated with this
- 2:47day and age. I think it's it was the best
- 2:50thing for them as well. So they can have everything in
- 2:51one spot. They can have the goals in one
- 2:54spot, their payments and everything like that.
- 2:55Everything will be all in one. What about you, Valentina?
- 2:57Were you like, I'm not sure or we wouldn't.
- 2:59You first heard about this idea? Were you like, oh wow, let's
- 3:03roll? Look, just with any idea, you
- 3:05start, you know, thinking in your head all the possible
- 3:08scenarios or things that could go wrong, but also the things
- 3:11that could go right. But at the end of the day, I
- 3:13know Amar is very intelligent and when he speaks about
- 3:19something, he's already been thinking about it for the
- 3:21longest time possible. He's already been planning and
- 3:23strategizing in his head. So I, I trusted him and I still
- 3:27do trust him. And it's been about maybe a year
- 3:30and a half since he told me that idea.
- 3:32And here we are. It's it's happening.
- 3:34That must be really cool to actually see it from an idea to
- 3:37actually physically seeing it. It's it's, it's exciting and
- 3:41also crazy at the same time. So we talked about some of the
- 3:46problems that it will solve. As you were going along and you
- 3:49were testing it, did you find out more problems that the
- 3:53product solved or didn't solve, or things that you had to edit
- 3:56and refine because it was a way that you like?
- 3:58We don't see until we try. Yeah, exactly right.
- 4:01So because Ath is such a huge system that we've been working
- 4:07on and building, it's always just about refining and fixing
- 4:10AS we're building and as we're going through the stages, we've
- 4:13been getting real feedback from therapists, real therapists that
- 4:16we're working with and also participants that we've been
- 4:19working with as well. But you know, one of the biggest
- 4:22issues we kept seeing was, you know, inefficiency being treated
- 4:25as normal within the sector. So participants were being
- 4:29charged for long travel times because the right provider just
- 4:32wasn't nearby and also therapists feeling burnt out
- 4:35because their day was pretty much, you know, half driving,
- 4:38half paperwork and only part therapy.
- 4:41So it wasn't really about anyone doing the wrong thing that just
- 4:43the system just wasn't set up to for real life, you know?
- 4:47So that's why Ath was just created to address that gap.
- 4:50So between the two of you, neither of you are therapists
- 4:54yet to say it like a background, but you guys run a business that
- 4:57is allied health. Correct.
- 4:59Yeah. Oh gosh, When you first dropped
- 5:01this for like the people that we serve and the therapist and they
- 5:04had the first taste of it, what was some of the feedback that
- 5:07you got that you didn't expect? That's rich.
- 5:09And I got was we've been looking for this.
- 5:12Yeah, it's still to the deck of anything like when doing
- 5:15interviews and stuff like that. They when we show them the
- 5:17system, they're like, what system is this?
- 5:19What are you guys using? What platform is this?
- 5:21Like the they're actually not believing that we've created the
- 5:24whole thing because a lot of people are just like just still
- 5:27thinking it's like other system that we have integrated things
- 5:29on, but we're like, no, we've created this.
- 5:31This is what's going to what's going to look like and
- 5:33everything that wow, it's so nice and simple to use and this
- 5:36is what we've been looking for everything in one instead of
- 5:38using three different softwares, so.
- 5:40Now is the right time to launch. 100%, yeah. 100% it is like I
- 5:45would have, I would have loved to launch it sooner up to the
- 5:48sooner we launch it, the more participants can get help, the
- 5:51therapists and our the whole thing is to get it out about and
- 5:55also see what sort of feedback we can get and try and improve
- 5:59our system throughout. Yeah.
- 6:00So when is the launch? Is that top secret?
- 6:03Yeah. We've been slowly hyping it up.
- 6:06It's on the past four weeks. Yeah.
- 6:09It is like, so is it kind of like you're on a soft, so it's
- 6:12launch and then are you going guns blazing?
- 6:15So our strategy is pretty much a soft launch.
- 6:19We've already, you know, verbally told people about it
- 6:23and we've been posting data online on our socials and our
- 6:27LinkedIn as well. But it's something that, you
- 6:31know, we don't want to just say, hey guys, it's ready.
- 6:34Everyone can use it. It's more because we love
- 6:38perfecting things. But yes, nothing can ever be
- 6:40perfect, but that that will always be our goal and our aim.
- 6:43We're we're always refining and we're improving as people are
- 6:48using it. So over time we've had
- 6:50therapists on board on the Ath website.
- 6:53And so yes, it is live, but we're also improving and fixing
- 6:56at the same time. So we're taking on feedback as
- 6:58we go on. You sure Sarah would notice
- 7:00that? To launch.
- 7:01It never, it never gets done. No, it's consistent refining as
- 7:08goodness. Sorry, you cut me off as you're
- 7:12refining and you're doing it how like did you expect the outcomes
- 7:17that you receiving now or is some of it taking you by
- 7:20surprise? Some, most of them we expected,
- 7:23but some are surprising they'll be just going, OK, why haven't
- 7:26this been done for the longest time?
- 7:28And a lot of we have, we have participants, obviously we are,
- 7:31we are showing them the portal, we have got them live on it and
- 7:34they're just going, it is so simple where they don't have to
- 7:36call 5 different people to get the copies of the session notes
- 7:39or other things that they're looking for.
- 7:41It's all available to them and that's going Why wasn't this
- 7:44done this long time? Yeah.
- 7:46So to create such a system, you'd need a lot of people
- 7:50behind it. And this is the fun part that a
- 7:52lot of people don't see. When we when we create software,
- 7:55there's actually a lot behind the scenes that puts into it.
- 7:58So to develop. But how many people did you have
- 8:02to hire to assist you to get to this point to be able to launch
- 8:05it and have it live? So it's been a year and I have
- 8:08hired and fired quite a few people that weren't aligned with
- 8:11their values. I really needed people that
- 8:13obviously saw the vision that we are seeing and not just, but
- 8:16they're not just there for the money side of things.
- 8:18So how far we have currently we have working around 50 people in
- 8:22the IT and social media team. Wow, yeah.
- 8:25So you you guys really invested love, heart and soul into this
- 8:30to make it launch and to make it line.
- 8:32Everything. Yeah, we've invested everything.
- 8:34Yep. Everything for the last year at
- 8:36least. But how cool is when you see the
- 8:38outcomes for the people that we serve, that they get the
- 8:41supports that they really need? Exactly.
- 8:44And that's, yeah, no, that's the whole reason we started this,
- 8:47and that's the whole reason we'll continue this.
- 8:49Does it give you the warm fuzzy? Feelings 100%.
- 8:52Yeah, 100%. That's not even the question
- 8:55that that feeling that gives us is undescribable.
- 8:58Yeah, especially when we hear from people like this is what we
- 9:00need, this is what we're looking for.
- 9:02And we like, we can't wait to use this and work with you guys.
- 9:05It's just, yeah, it makes everything worth.
- 9:07It absolutely. So when you describe Australia
- 9:11Therapy Hub to people, how do you describe it in one sentence
- 9:14for anybody that hasn't come across it?
- 9:16So Australian Therapy Hub is an all in one platform designed to
- 9:21connect participants with the right therapist closer to home,
- 9:25while for helping therapists work more efficiently and
- 9:27sustainably on their own terms. And it's pretty much it's built
- 9:31for any NDIS participants, therapists and support workers,
- 9:35guardians. It really is like, yeah, so
- 9:38guys, as I'm breaking from the script to you for this podcast,
- 9:42I've actually played around with it.
- 9:43So it is cool to see it in live form to for people to actually
- 9:48see it themselves. They can jump onto the website.
- 9:51You've got it available to see and play.
- 9:53And that's what we've been been getting the most back on from
- 9:56therapists because it doesn't involve any physical documents,
- 10:00it doesn't involve days and weeks on end on trying to apply
- 10:04for a job. We've created the entire system,
- 10:07so everything is there for you to tick and type and uploads and
- 10:11yeah, just makes life a million times more easier.
- 10:13So when you first connect and you say right, this is the
- 10:18platform for me, what is the first thing they'll see when
- 10:21they first log into Ath? There's two really words for it,
- 10:26clarity and simplicity. It's not, it's not as
- 10:29complicated, it's just definitely login.
- 10:31Everything that you need is right in front of you, whether
- 10:33you're a participant, you're a therapy provider, everything's
- 10:35laid out clearly, no jumping between systems, no confusion
- 10:38whatsoever. You just, it's just on the
- 10:40dashboard. You see everything right there.
- 10:42Because I remember having this conversation with you previously
- 10:44about how many times it takes you to Click to do something and
- 10:48how quick it can be. Like that was your aim when you
- 10:51were building this, that you didn't have to click into so
- 10:53many things to get to that, Like a certain point that was just
- 10:57really an easy system to drive. Is that from your experience of
- 11:01working in the NDIS sector that you thought right?
- 11:03How can we make it simple for people?
- 11:05Correct, especially the people we work with being vulnerable
- 11:08and some might not be as tech savvy.
- 11:10We got to keep it as simple as possible for them to access all
- 11:13the information they need. So with the system is the main
- 11:16thing that you guys really do help with is reduce the amount
- 11:20of paperwork stress that a lot of therapists go through?
- 11:23Exactly. Yeah.
- 11:24So we've pretty much removed all the repetition and the guesswork
- 11:28and the, you know, substantial amounts of paperwork that
- 11:31therapist needs to go through. So we created something where
- 11:35all the information lives in the one place and flows properly so
- 11:38that people stop second guessing themselves and, you know, they
- 11:41begin to start working with confidence.
- 11:43By doing this, it really does reduce the admin hours.
- 11:47The feedback that you're getting from therapists is that they get
- 11:50to be more present when they're supporting people.
- 11:52Yeah, exactly right. And that's the that's the whole
- 11:54purpose of Ath. What used to be manual that Ath
- 11:58now helps with. It's quite a few things.
- 12:00So things like progress tracking documentations, documents
- 12:04expiring that you get automatic reminders for reporting and
- 12:08tasks that used to be live with people said basically personal
- 12:12systems now all fall live in one system and very clearly visible
- 12:16to them. So for a provider to be on
- 12:18board, how could they use Ath in a normal working week?
- 12:22As simple as After they've on boarded, they just log in and
- 12:25see exactly what's scheduled for them.
- 12:27They can complete their notes, they can track progress as they
- 12:30go and be sure that nothing is falling through the cracks
- 12:34because if there's something that they haven't done, they'll
- 12:36be notified of it. It'll be it's a very easy system
- 12:39where it'll be all all of it available for them and without
- 12:43staying back late to catch up. So what's your favorite feature?
- 12:46Your favorite feature is available in the system, Anna,
- 12:51but it was. But there was a first thing I
- 12:53thought of, but that was that's something that a lot of people
- 12:55don't do that I have seen and not many systems are provided
- 12:58there like you saw. Obviously with Studio Birthday,
- 13:01it was in the system and I could find it.
- 13:02But at the same time, when we are on boarding and we are
- 13:05getting all that information, why not use it to actually
- 13:07personalize experience for the product clients and other
- 13:10therapists? I could I could tell it was very
- 13:12personalized when I when we were first first got to play around
- 13:16with it and see it. So, Valentin, what's your
- 13:18favorite feature? My favorite feature of H,
- 13:21honestly, there's so many that I can't like pinpoint it, to be
- 13:24honest with you, but I would, I'd honestly say the system, the
- 13:31CRM system that we've created. So yeah, again, I can't pinpoint
- 13:34one feature. But because it's taken us so
- 13:38long to come up with something so great that isn't out there,
- 13:42you know, we did, we did our research, we saw the programs
- 13:45that therapists are using at the moment.
- 13:47We looked at, I don't know, 456 different programs that
- 13:50currently exist that therapists use and we pretty much combined
- 13:55and combined all the best features and created more.
- 13:58So I just say the system, the CRM system that we've created to
- 14:01make work easier. Was there a feature that you're
- 14:03really excited about? Just actually onboarding the.
- 14:06ACH. Like onboarding, you know what,
- 14:10I've used systems in the past when you're onboarding people
- 14:13and you feel like, Oh my God, the only thing that I am missing
- 14:16is someone's shoe size. And it's so complicated and it
- 14:19nothing seems to ever add up. It just seems like you're going
- 14:23to different spots and clicking different things without doing
- 14:26it so neatly. The onboarding process that you
- 14:28guys have got is fabulous. Thank you.
- 14:31It's it and it's beautiful. I can't I can't wait to see what
- 14:34more like you guys are going to do and develop and how to see it
- 14:39roll out in the next year. I feel like it's quite a quite
- 14:42big for the space I'm. Looking forward to it.
- 14:44Now there are a part of Ath that participants can be quite
- 14:50involved in. So how do participants interact
- 14:53with the system and is there more behind the scenes?
- 14:56So participants are actively involved.
- 15:01ACH is it's not just about therapists, it's also about
- 15:04participants. We've built the entire thing for
- 15:06both parties because we're trying to make life easier for
- 15:09both sides. So participants, they tell us
- 15:12what they need, They'll pretty much fill up a form on our
- 15:15website. They will review their options.
- 15:19And by options I mean the therapists that are available to
- 15:22them and they choose who they want to work with.
- 15:25So we support the process without getting in the way of
- 15:28the relationship between participants and therapists.
- 15:31I love the fact that they can read about the therapist that
- 15:35they could use and having an idea like the kind of like
- 15:39having like like an old school Myspace page where you've got
- 15:42that information there about this person others needs.
- 15:47Yeah, no, exactly right. Who would have thought you'd go
- 15:50shopping for therapists? Well, no, it wasn't even given,
- 15:55is it? It's something that I'd talk to
- 15:56my support coordinator and then they would try to align me.
- 16:00It just takes out a lot of the in between.
- 16:04Like if I was a support coordinator looking at this, the
- 16:07idea that I could assist somebody to jump online and
- 16:10choose who aligns with them would take out so much admin
- 16:14type. All the emailing and trials,
- 16:16dialing and phone calls that support coordinators have to go
- 16:19through to figure out whether somebody aligns with them.
- 16:22This just pulls it all in. Exactly right.
- 16:24That is the whole aim, to try and reduce the work for
- 16:27everyone, so they can actually focus on the participants and by
- 16:30giving them options, we also give them the choice and
- 16:32control. This is very important to the
- 16:33participants as well. But it's also you think about
- 16:36it, it's also a little like it's admin time waste and money from
- 16:39an NDIS participants plan that can actually go back into
- 16:43services that they really, truly need instead of dating a couple
- 16:47of Rob's before you get to your prints can.
- 16:51You explain it that way. Yeah, that's one way to put it.
- 16:56Sorry, Sir. Are we going to?
- 16:57You're going to use that? Well, it is because it really
- 16:59does cut set out because there's been times that I've known that
- 17:03I've had NDIS participants line up to to meet and greet with a
- 17:07therapist and I just didn't click and it just didn't work
- 17:10all the times and work or it was a shuffle here and there
- 17:14actually being able to see who is available, who aligns with me
- 17:18and whether I can book them in the time it saves.
- 17:21Exactly, exactly. And yeah, that's that's why ITH
- 17:25was created. But again, even if they choose a
- 17:28therapist, that might not work out.
- 17:29And then at the end of the day, they have the option and the
- 17:32decision to, you know, go through the process again and
- 17:35choose somebody else that works. For them, the power, like I
- 17:38could just imagine, I could imagine that like mum and dad,
- 17:41maybe the support coordinators around, we've got a platter
- 17:43we're swiping through trying to figure out which therapist
- 17:46actually aligns with us, who you know, and it could be a
- 17:49conversation that you can have as a family as well.
- 17:51Like who could fit me as a participant the best way
- 17:55possible? And we can talk, talk and chat
- 17:56about it. That's awesome.
- 17:58So how long would it take, say, anyone to learn how to use Ath?
- 18:03Most of the people are comfortable within a few hours.
- 18:05We've designed it so you don't need training manuals.
- 18:08If you understand you, you can understand it Ath, but we have
- 18:11to simplify it even further. We've also given all hyper
- 18:14guides as well. So when you, because I played
- 18:16around with it when you were creating it, was it something
- 18:19that you really put in mind for our NDIS participants?
- 18:22Because I can see that the color scheme, I can see that the
- 18:25language being used around it, it's quite easy to read and to
- 18:29follow. Yeah, we had.
- 18:30Yes. So it created with in front of
- 18:32mine. Definitely so.
- 18:34Who is the best suited for right now for Ath?
- 18:38Who is the best suited for right now?
- 18:41Is it therapist? Is it and you guys participants
- 18:43or is it all in one in your opinion?
- 18:45Everyone so participants who want more choice and better
- 18:49access to care, and also therapists who value their time
- 18:52and mental pace at work. 100% now, sorry I'm just making sure.
- 18:57So with anything that is online there's always this worry about
- 19:01security and breaches and everything in between.
- 19:04So how does Ath keep people's information safe?
- 19:08So security has been built in from day one, Data is protected,
- 19:11access is controlled and everything is designed to meet
- 19:13the Australian privacy laws, have data standards and NDIS
- 19:16requirements. And so people can trust that the
- 19:18data information is handled responsibly.
- 19:20No, obviously being that has data, we have to make sure it's
- 19:22protected and it's all all the Australian servers that use all
- 19:25the data staying in the country and all the laws are followed
- 19:28for the string, for the string security data.
- 19:30So definitely not just because of the just because of the laws,
- 19:33but we have to make sure that we are following all the policy
- 19:35procedures and everything so our participants and our therapists
- 19:38are secured. So a lot of people in this age
- 19:41love talking about AI. So with AI for Ath, what does it
- 19:47mean in real life for the people that we serve?
- 19:49So AI will help with quite a few things within Ath, things like
- 19:52reducing admin efforts, supporting documents, supporting
- 19:56patterns, but not making decision for therapists or
- 19:59people that they're assisting. That decision making part is to
- 20:02live in. Therapist and start replacing
- 20:04that. It's a little bit of fun when
- 20:06you're using the AI connecting parts of the.
- 20:10Beginning, but we worked through that.
- 20:12How quick moves and how thorough it can be.
- 20:16I think it's Amar's favorite part.
- 20:17He loves his tech. I get very excited about when it
- 20:21comes to AI. I just quick information how
- 20:27quick it can roll and move come. So how do you make sure that Ath
- 20:34supports care and not replaces the human contact and then the
- 20:38interactions that we have? Sorry, we've designed around
- 20:41people, we haven't designed around processes.
- 20:44If a feature gets in the way of care then it just doesn't belong
- 20:47with Ath. The AI and the technology is
- 20:50there to support them, not replace them.
- 20:54The next step would just pretty much be letting everyone know
- 20:57that, you know, we're here, we're here to help Ath exists.
- 21:01We're pretty much just gonna continue refining the matching
- 21:04side of things, the technology. We're going to continue
- 21:07improving the efficiency and building tools that reduce
- 21:10pressure without adding complexity.
- 21:12And this will always be guided by the real feedback that we get
- 21:15from our therapists and participants.
- 21:17So is 2026 a big year for you guys?
- 21:20Huge. And we talked about every day,
- 21:23every week. 2026 is our year and we're just so excited to see
- 21:27everything unfolds. Oh yeah, I'm excited too.
- 21:29I just get you out with be honest with you.
- 21:32I really do. And then especially when you
- 21:34guys were showing me around and what it can do and knowing some
- 21:37allied health friends in my sector, the, the ability of what
- 21:42the tech can do and how it really does solve that problem.
- 21:45It's, it's huge. I'm really excited for you guys.
- 21:49What changes do you hope that Ath will bring to the NDIS
- 21:53sector or even really aged? Care to be honest with you for
- 21:57the long run? Absolutely.
- 21:58We we'd like to see the system where participants receive more
- 22:02meaningful and timely support and with therapists can work
- 22:04sustainably with with a real autonomy without being exhausted
- 22:08by the constant travel and buried in paperwork.
- 22:10If ATS can reduce waste of time, improve coordination, and make
- 22:15it easier to connect with participants at the with the
- 22:18right therapist sooner, that's a meaningful change.
- 22:21It means the funding is being used with medicine most on the
- 22:24care and skilled therapist can stay focused on therapy instead
- 22:28of admin. That balance, where both
- 22:30participants and therapists are properly supported, is
- 22:32ultimately what 88 exists to help.
- 22:34Perfect. That's yeah, it's exciting.
