- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the ex Bowl.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Your participation is required to make this happen. Oh, what
- 0:04Speaker 2: we're looking for is your roommate stories. They can be good,
- 0:08Speaker 2: they can be horrific, they can be bad, they can
- 0:11Speaker 2: be funny roommates stories.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I could write a book, but do you have can
- 0:17Speaker 3: you give us a quick In the early days of
- 0:18Speaker 3: X ninety six, we all had the studio was in Provo.
- 0:21Speaker 3: We all had to move to Provo, most of us anyway,
- 0:23Speaker 3: at least I did because I lived in Hooper and
- 0:25Speaker 3: that was, you know, ninety miles away. So I have
- 0:28Speaker 3: no choice but to move in. And eventually my first
- 0:31Speaker 3: apartment was with like five people I didn't know at
- 0:34Speaker 3: all at all, Yes, and so you just had your
- 0:36Speaker 3: own bedroom and that was it.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And that sucked.
- 0:38Speaker 3: But eventually, as we were down there for a few months,
- 0:40Speaker 3: met some folks and then and then we kind of
- 0:44Speaker 3: got a place together. Now I was busy as hell
- 0:47Speaker 3: because we were launching this radio station. It was only
- 0:49Speaker 3: like a not even a year old during this encounter,
- 0:53Speaker 3: and it was like a full day of work. Plus
- 0:56Speaker 3: like I had I was on the air from like
- 0:58Speaker 3: seven to midnight. But I had a full day, like
- 1:01Speaker 3: I was there just all day long and at a
- 1:03Speaker 3: nine am meeting for promotions or whatever. And so night
- 1:08Speaker 3: before that this meeting, I'm at home or in the apartment,
- 1:12Speaker 3: and and there becomes this big loud beer drinking bruhaha,
- 1:17Speaker 3: big bunch of people just raising hell with my roommates,
- 1:19Speaker 3: who were good dudes, but it just wouldn't stop. And
- 1:22Speaker 3: it's like two am, and they're just loud as hell
- 1:24Speaker 3: carrying on. And finally I was pissed and in only
- 1:27Speaker 3: my tidy whities, like come out of my bedroom and
- 1:29Speaker 3: go down, you guys, please, I've got a meeting at
- 1:32Speaker 3: nine am.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I have a meeting. So I'm sure it was horrifying
- 1:36Speaker 1: to see that. Eight six two nine. Let's begin with
- 1:40Speaker 1: Cole Hello, Cole.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Bye.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I go ahead.
- 1:46Speaker 4: So this was my first year in college.
- 1:51Speaker 5: I had two other roommates. We were in this basement
- 1:53Speaker 5: apartment and in Linden, and their roommates like it was
- 2:01Speaker 5: it's kind of me and the my one roommate against
- 2:04Speaker 5: my other roommate. And uh, it got to the point
- 2:08Speaker 5: in our renting this apartment where the one roommate would
- 2:13Speaker 5: not pay for anything, so like, no, he wouldn't.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Contribute to the toilet paper.
- 2:20Speaker 5: To any like of the cleaning. Nothing. So we decided
- 2:24Speaker 5: everybody had to pay for their own stuff, like you
- 2:27Speaker 5: guy was.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I found him using my toothbrush. I found him using
- 2:30Speaker 4: my razor.
- 2:31Speaker 6: Oh so I it got really bad.
- 2:33Speaker 5: So I had to like hide everything.
- 2:37Speaker 7: We each had our own pack of toilet paper that we'd.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Hide under the bed, and there were he's really minty too.
- 2:44Speaker 5: And one day I came back from like a vacation
- 2:47Speaker 5: or something, and the apartment was a mess. So I
- 2:50Speaker 5: just started cleaning up everything. And uh, I he had
- 2:56Speaker 5: been there by himself while me and my other roommate
- 2:58Speaker 5: were out. And I started cleaning up, and I find
- 3:01Speaker 5: in the bathroom this uh.
- 3:05Speaker 7: Sock stuck to the wall.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Okay, all right, okay that's why they say ye man,
- 3:13Speaker 3: all right, thank.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You, thank you.
- 3:17Speaker 8: Tim.
- 3:17Speaker 1: The tree guy is here.
- 3:20Speaker 6: Hey, how are we right?
- 3:22Speaker 1: We're fine, just fine. What's your roommates story?
- 3:26Speaker 6: Okay? I lived down half of eight South and about
- 3:29Speaker 6: fifth East and one of those big complexes, and they
- 3:32Speaker 6: shared a three bedroom apartment. It was me and my
- 3:35Speaker 6: ex and my first child he was only like a
- 3:39Speaker 6: year old maybe, and my two roommates that we had.
- 3:44Speaker 6: They used one room. They had two rooms. They used
- 3:46Speaker 6: one room to grow mushrooms, and then they then they
- 3:50Speaker 6: lived in the other room together. And then one of
- 3:53Speaker 6: them got arrested, got caught shoplifted, and at that smith
- 3:56Speaker 6: one there. Yeah, and then he had already given him
- 4:02Speaker 6: all his information. And when the police brought him out
- 4:04Speaker 6: to put him in the car, the other roommate come
- 4:07Speaker 6: over and mace the cop and they ran off together. Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 6: So then next thing, you know, my apartment's getting raided
- 4:16Speaker 6: because they already knew where he lived, and it was
- 4:19Speaker 6: it was a big to do.
- 4:20Speaker 8: It was I think I bought mushrooms from your roommate.
- 4:23Speaker 8: I lived in that area for a while, aren't you.
- 4:27Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a long time ago.
- 4:28Speaker 1: All right, have a good day, guys, thanks to him.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Simple question, tell us your roommate stories, good, bad, horrific.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Let's begin with doctor Mike. Hello, doctor, good morning. Hi.
- 4:43Speaker 9: When I was a college student, I lived in a
- 4:46Speaker 9: fraternity house for two years and I had a roommate
- 4:51Speaker 9: who at one point in time burned my bed.
- 4:55Speaker 1: How did that happen?
- 4:57Speaker 9: Well, I was away at class. But the way the
- 5:00Speaker 9: story went was he was studying at the desk and
- 5:04Speaker 9: got bored, and so he started playing with lighter fluid
- 5:07Speaker 9: on his hand, lighting it on fire. Wow, and shaking
- 5:11Speaker 9: his hand to put it out yeah, realizing that a
- 5:14Speaker 9: lot of it was going on my bed.
- 5:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 5:17Speaker 9: And then he turned around back to his desk to
- 5:19Speaker 9: study until the room filled with smoke, and then it
- 5:23Speaker 9: got dragged down the hall and thrown out into the
- 5:25Speaker 9: backyard to smolder.
- 5:27Speaker 1: A wow. Did he have to give you his bed?
- 5:32Speaker 9: That was the last bed I wanted to let you know.
- 5:34Speaker 8: Oh, probably right, yeah, exactly, thank you.
- 5:38Speaker 6: Doc.
- 5:39Speaker 8: All right, okay, I say doctor Mike, because our next
- 5:42Speaker 8: call is from Mike.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I might Mike go ahead, different Mike, Yeah, yes, go ahead.
- 5:50Speaker 6: Oh sorry, sorry.
- 5:52Speaker 4: I had a couple of California roommates, and the one,
- 5:57Speaker 4: because he would have had a hard time at home
- 6:00Speaker 4: buying a gun, he decided while he was here he
- 6:03Speaker 4: was by a revolver, and then then he proceeded to
- 6:06Speaker 4: think he was going to testifire it in his room.
- 6:09Speaker 4: So we bought a couple of two by fours, set
- 6:11Speaker 4: him on the floor and thinking that that would stop,
- 6:14Speaker 4: the bullet and shot through the floor into the room
- 6:18Speaker 4: below them.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Oh my hell, and nobody got hurt. Magically right, magically.
- 6:24Speaker 7: No, no one, No one was hurt.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Thankfully, there's no one in the room.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Oh god, what happened to this guy?
- 6:30Speaker 9: Oh?
- 6:31Speaker 7: Who knows.
- 6:34Speaker 8: He's a member of the legislature. Politicians, politician, thank you, Mike.
- 6:40Speaker 8: Or possibly a cop. Yeah, he's probably a cop.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Chandler is here. Hello, Chandler.
- 6:46Speaker 6: Bye.
- 6:47Speaker 7: How's it going?
- 6:47Speaker 1: All right? What's up?
- 6:49Speaker 7: So basically, he didn't military, had a lot of diff
- 6:52Speaker 7: net roommates. But basically what happened was, long story short.
- 6:57Speaker 7: I was enjoying my night and my roommate pulled me
- 6:59Speaker 7: in because he was super drunk. He must have had
- 7:01Speaker 7: something laced in his beer or something like that. But
- 7:04Speaker 7: he pulled me in and he's like, hey, I need
- 7:06Speaker 7: you to strip down, and he need you to check
- 7:08Speaker 7: to see if you have any microphones on you. I'm
- 7:11Speaker 7: like what. He's like, they're coming to get me. And
- 7:13Speaker 7: they thought he thought the government was coming to get
- 7:16Speaker 7: him because he tried to assassinate the president. And so
- 7:18Speaker 7: what I gathered from it was that, uh, he thought
- 7:22Speaker 7: he was the character from the main character from the
- 7:25Speaker 7: Wouldn't Be Shooter.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, this wasn't just beer, this was yeah, this was
- 7:31Speaker 2: on something else exactly.
- 7:32Speaker 8: Yeah, I think he bought I think he bought mushrooms
- 7:34Speaker 8: from Tim's roommate.
- 7:36Speaker 7: Probably, but I have no idea. But he jumped out
- 7:41Speaker 7: the window. We thought he was completely naked when he
- 7:43Speaker 7: was running around the bait. But basically, uh, I went
- 7:48Speaker 7: back into the bathroom and he put shaving kring on
- 7:50Speaker 7: the on the walls that thinking that he would walk
- 7:52Speaker 7: out the government from you know, listening in on stuff.
- 7:56Speaker 8: So and this guy was in the military.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Yeah yet, Wow, So now wait a minute, did you
- 8:05Speaker 1: trip down for him or not?
- 8:06Speaker 3: Because yeah, that's the question, because if he was naked
- 8:08Speaker 3: in you mind, okay, yeah, good, he was wearing a
- 8:13Speaker 3: wire clearly, clearly, all right, thanks Chandler.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Wow.
- 8:20Speaker 8: And and he's in the military.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Oh, he's probably in the Trump administration. He's working for
- 8:25Speaker 1: RFK exactly.
- 8:27Speaker 8: Let's see uh eight seven seven six two nine six
- 8:30Speaker 8: nine six, tell us your roommate story.
- 8:32Speaker 1: That's the ex pole post high school. Me and my
- 8:35Speaker 1: adult brother shared a bunk bed.
- 8:38Speaker 8: Due to our weight differences, I had to compensate by
- 8:41Speaker 8: putting a weight plate at the end of the bed.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I like this one college roommate, pathological liar invented a
- 8:50Speaker 2: deaf brother for attention. She also stole some items from me,
- 8:55Speaker 2: invented deaf you know my brother's death, so for attention.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Wow, all right, Oh, here's a good one from Chris.
- 9:03Speaker 8: I had a roommate that insisted on renting out half
- 9:06Speaker 8: of his own room to save money. You can he's
- 9:10Speaker 8: already got a room, just a room, and he's wow,
- 9:14Speaker 8: you could have this corner here, put a cot over there.
- 9:17Speaker 1: You're good, all right.
- 9:20Speaker 8: I had a roommate who consistently endeavored to have apartment
- 9:23Speaker 8: family home, evening and morning scripture reading. I learned that
- 9:30Speaker 8: stepping up my blasphemy kept him at bay for a bit.
- 9:34Speaker 8: Stepping up my blasphemy the Jesus and Gordon Hinkley dartboard pushed.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Him over the edge. I can see where that would
- 9:41Speaker 1: Johnny Bee, you nuts.
- 9:43Speaker 2: And I thought we'd get more of these on my
- 9:46Speaker 2: two year Mormon vacation. Yeah, yeah, a lot of theo
- 9:49Speaker 2: on my two year Mormon vacation. I had a roommate
- 9:51Speaker 2: who would wipe his boogers on the bottom of the
- 9:54Speaker 2: bunk bed.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Called it his booger farm. So he wasn't doing it secretly.
- 9:58Speaker 1: He was proud of his work.
- 10:00Speaker 8: That's my booger farm, right out of a ren and
- 10:03Speaker 8: stimpy cartoon. My roommate stole my booger farm. My roommate
- 10:10Speaker 8: stole credit card information from his job and used the
- 10:13Speaker 8: numbers for phone sex. I found out when I walked
- 10:16Speaker 8: in mid call.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Ah. Yeah you don't want that. Let's see.
- 10:22Speaker 8: Uh, not a roommate, but somebody who came to a
- 10:25Speaker 8: party at my house. There were people I didn't know.
- 10:27Speaker 8: The next morning, I noticed someone had eaten my new
- 10:30Speaker 8: my new block of cheese, not cut, not cutting it,
- 10:34Speaker 8: just biting into it and left a tiny little square.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I can relate.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I remember when I was living in Provo with roommates,
- 10:42Speaker 3: and these were the ones that I kind of became
- 10:43Speaker 3: friends with. But Uh, Friday, I would go home for
- 10:46Speaker 3: the weekend and I come back and someone had opened
- 10:50Speaker 3: and eaten all of my my.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Fresh bag of lazed potato chips.
- 10:54Speaker 3: All that I had in my copboard. I get back
- 10:57Speaker 3: and it's it's just empty. But they put the empty
- 10:59Speaker 3: bag in wait.
- 11:01Speaker 1: My damn chips.
- 11:02Speaker 2: And they never copped to it.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Oh never, Let's see.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I think one of them had the munchies because that
- 11:10Speaker 3: was a thing with these guys that I live with.
- 11:12Speaker 8: Let's see, most people are just texting in contests.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 11:19Speaker 8: Uh yeah, the Chiese question.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Of course. On my room, I had one roommate ever.
- 11:26Speaker 8: Ever, lucky you, I didn't mind living alone, and luckily
- 11:31Speaker 8: I could afford.
- 11:31Speaker 1: To live alone.
- 11:32Speaker 8: Yeah, that's always these and I would find places that
- 11:34Speaker 8: were affordable that I could live in the one time
- 11:37Speaker 8: that I did have a roommate was right after I
- 11:39Speaker 8: had left my first wife, Dom Casual let me sleep
- 11:43Speaker 8: in his trailer.
- 11:45Speaker 1: They're in a it's like West Bountiful.
- 11:48Speaker 8: Or yeah, what's Bountiful next to that bar?
- 11:51Speaker 1: Oh, the fifth on the Fifth Amendment, the fifth Amendment.
- 11:54Speaker 8: It was right there, the trailer park, that was right
- 11:56Speaker 8: there by.
- 11:56Speaker 1: The Fifth Amendment.
- 11:57Speaker 8: And I have no roommate story about Dom except he
- 12:03Speaker 8: was terrific and you know, we had different time clocks,
- 12:06Speaker 8: so I never saw him. But when I finally moved out,
- 12:10Speaker 8: he said, I'm gonna miss you, man, I don't have
- 12:13Speaker 8: any pots or pans, and yeah, so I'm gonna miss you.
- 12:18Speaker 2: You took you took the pots and where.
- 12:20Speaker 8: They were my pots and pans, So Terry got those
- 12:23Speaker 8: in the divorce settlements I did.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I got one.
- 12:25Speaker 2: I got a pan and a pot, and that was it.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Somebody says I came home early from work and my
- 12:31Speaker 2: blow dryer was on. I went to investigate in my
- 12:34Speaker 2: roommate was blow drying her hair naked on my cedar chest.
- 12:39Speaker 10: What are you?
- 12:40Speaker 1: What are you naked in my room?
- 12:42Speaker 2: I'm using my hair dryer.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I didn't want to have to take the hair dryer
- 12:45Speaker 1: into the bathroom. Use it where it is.
- 12:48Speaker 8: We have time for one call Biden, Hi, Braiden, Hello, Yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 8: really quick.
- 12:57Speaker 10: I had a friend who had a roommate and he
- 13:00Speaker 10: would come and hang out with us in the backyard.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Often. We would always have a.
- 13:03Speaker 10: Little fire what have you back there? And one night
- 13:06Speaker 10: we were all sitting down by the fire and he
- 13:09Speaker 10: came out, didn't say anything to us, just sat down,
- 13:12Speaker 10: lit a cigarette and started healing a very large scab
- 13:17Speaker 10: on his leg, And once he had successfully feeled it
- 13:21Speaker 10: all the way off, he held it up to show
- 13:24Speaker 10: us and then ate it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Ah, yeah, we go big.
- 13:30Speaker 8: This scab is again right out of a ren and
- 13:32Speaker 8: stimpy curtain. What happened to this guy? We don't know.
- 13:38Speaker 1: He's in the legislation here.
- 13:41Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly, thank you.
- 13:43Speaker 1: All right. Wow, he's either that or he's in broadcasting
- 13:47Speaker 1: somewhere from it.
- 13:51Speaker 8: Dom did get me turned onto earth wind and fire.
- 13:53Speaker 8: That's one another good thing that happened.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I'm sad that i'm there. I'm sure there are a
- 13:57Speaker 3: lot of domb casual stories that you can't tell.
- 13:59Speaker 1: There's one that I want. You know, we've all we've
- 14:02Speaker 1: all got one of those. Yeah,
