Speaker 4: we've been talking on and off throughout the day, texting
• 1:45
Speaker 4: back and forth about the show, and I've already said
• 1:53
Speaker 4: that I'm going to go on a little bit of
• 1:54
Speaker 4: a ram before we get into the show, all right.
• 1:58
Speaker 5: Which we couldn't believe it could we all were.
• 2:04
  Speaker 2: See.
• 2:05
Speaker 4: See, I say nice things about both of you.
• 2:09
Speaker 2: Come at me, all right, So I want I want
• 2:15
  Speaker 2: parents to understand.
• 2:19
Speaker 4: What your role is when it comes to you sports, okay,
• 2:25
Speaker 4: because I think you sports should be fun, and there
• 2:31
Speaker 4: are chances and times in situations where kids win or lose,
• 2:36
Speaker 4: and and and when they lose big games, it's it's
• 2:40
Speaker 4: it's challenging because they they they like everybody, everybody wants
• 2:44
Speaker 4: to win. But when you get in the situation to
• 2:48
Speaker 4: where you have officials wanting to leave the game, mm hmmm, uhh.
• 2:54
Speaker 2: That's too much. And that's been a problem nationally too.
• 2:57
Speaker 4: Yes, because nationally this is so I'm not I'm not
• 2:59
Speaker 4: talking specifically local, but I'm I'm just talking from curl
• 3:03
Speaker 4: lee and and somebody who's been in sports his entire
• 3:06
Speaker 4: life and trying to picture and watch this these things
• 3:13
Speaker 4: in front of me. You know, it's like it's like Lisa,
• 3:16
Speaker 4: you you being a reading specialist, and you hear somebody
• 3:19
Speaker 4: read and you're like, oh, wow, I'm gonna need a
• 3:22
Speaker 4: lot of work here, you know, Hollisice, you in the
• 3:25
Speaker 4: political realm, you know, there's things that come up you're like, wow,
• 3:28
Speaker 4: you know, but there's some things that all of a
• 3:31
Speaker 4: sudden is so big that you're like, I've never seen this.
• 3:35
Speaker 4: I've been in sports all my life and and and
• 3:38
Speaker 4: I I've never seen I've never felt uncomfortable in the
• 3:45
Speaker 4: setting of people. And what I mean by that is
• 3:49
Speaker 4: people who are specifically just wanting to create drama.
• 3:54
  Speaker 2: Wow.
• 3:55
Speaker 5: And for those kids.
• 3:58
Speaker 4: Exactly, the language that you use speaks volumes. There's nothing
• 4:05
Speaker 4: you then it can say about anything that the officials
• 4:11
Speaker 4: can do. Officials can't do anything so drastic that you
• 4:15
  Speaker 4: if you're dropping F bombs.
• 4:18
  Speaker 5: There's a problem at a at a youth game.
• 4:22
Speaker 4: I mean, you're wrong, yeah, And we can't be so
• 4:27
Speaker 4: angry at youth sports.
• 4:31
Speaker 2: It's development, isn't it? But is it is it anger
• 4:34
Speaker 2: or are people enamored with winning? Mmmm? Well, it can
• 4:39
  Speaker 2: all call.
• 4:40
  Speaker 4: I think, I think, I think, I think it is
• 4:43
Speaker 4: about winning. But again it if we're not winning, it's
• 4:49
Speaker 4: where are we put in the blame? How many times?
• 4:54
Speaker 4: How many times? Coaching at State? Well, I say, we
• 4:56
Speaker 4: don't talk to the officials every game, every game? Why
• 5:01
Speaker 4: because they're not going to change it.
• 5:02
Speaker 6: Let me talk to the ficials, which I remember you, yes,
• 5:07
Speaker 6: let me talk to you. Don't talk because.
• 5:08
Speaker 4: There's no reason because if you approach them in the
• 5:11
  Speaker 4: wrong way.
• 5:12
Speaker 5: You're just gonna get another You're likely.
• 5:15
Speaker 6: To get another penalty, or you're not or you're likely
• 5:18
Speaker 6: not to get that call or the call that you
• 5:20
Speaker 6: because everybody is human, right.
• 5:22
Speaker 4: And and a call that you see on the field,
• 5:25
Speaker 4: let me let me clar make sure I'm very clear.
• 5:28
Speaker 4: A play that you see on the field, and you
• 5:31
Speaker 4: see it one way, you are not at the angle
• 5:35
Speaker 4: that the that the official is at that called it.
• 5:39
Speaker 4: The point he could be wrong, but he has an
• 5:42
Speaker 4: angle that will show up better to him than you
• 5:48
Speaker 4: and the bleachers. And when you cannot.
• 5:55
Speaker 6: Let me ask you this, do you think as far
• 5:57
Speaker 6: as that is concerned, is that, Like I said, are
• 6:00
Speaker 6: people enamored with winning?
• 6:01
Speaker 2: Do they hate losing?
• 6:02
Speaker 6: Or is it just like maybe a total lack of
• 6:05
Speaker 6: respect for the position. Do you think it's like people
• 6:10
Speaker 6: just don't respect authority how maybe they once did.
• 6:13
  Speaker 4: I think it's a place to have blame. I think
• 6:16
Speaker 4: it's a place to be able to put blame, whether
• 6:19
Speaker 4: it's your team that's not playing well, you're losing, and
• 6:23
Speaker 4: I think at the end of the day, what you're
• 6:25
Speaker 4: doing is you're trying your best to take the blame,
• 6:29
Speaker 4: to put the blame somewhere else, why you're not winning,
• 6:32
Speaker 4: why that other team is beating you.
• 6:35
Speaker 2: And I just and.
• 6:39
Speaker 7: Let me just intercede this. Do you not feel like
• 6:41
Speaker 7: that sports, whether it's little league, collegiate level, high school,
• 6:46
Speaker 7: it's just a reflection of society in general. And I
• 6:49
Speaker 7: feel like society in general. And I'm going to bring
• 6:52
Speaker 7: up social media again and I'm not trying to demonize it,
• 6:55
Speaker 7: but I do feel like with social media and the
• 6:58
Speaker 7: access to it and the way people can can interact
• 7:01
Speaker 7: with each other on social media without ramifications immediately back
• 7:06
Speaker 7: that maybe that that's carried over to everyday life, and
• 7:09
Speaker 7: it includes little league, Little League football.
• 7:12
Speaker 4: That's actually a good point, it is, I know, and
• 7:14
Speaker 4: again not to just say football, but baseball is having
• 7:17
Speaker 4: the same thing with like that they can't find umpires basketball.
• 7:20
Speaker 4: So every sport pretty much at youth level to high school,
• 7:23
Speaker 4: they're all hurting for referees because of that.
• 7:25
Speaker 2: And I think you actually got it. You probably hit
• 7:27
Speaker 2: the net on the head.
• 7:28
Speaker 6: Social media people feel like they can just say anything
• 7:30
Speaker 6: anyway they want to, and the and their thoughts can
• 7:32
Speaker 6: be broadcasted without the ramifications.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: Well, and there were folks on on on Facebook talking
• 7:41
Speaker 4: about that situation, you know that I'm not naming it,
• 7:45
Speaker 4: that they're talking about that situation, which forced the president
• 7:49
Speaker 4: of the league to step in and start talking about like, hey,
• 7:54
Speaker 4: you're not going to be able to go to this
• 7:56
  Speaker 4: game or that.
• 7:57
Speaker 5: Game, you know, and that just carries out, This carries over.
• 8:01
Speaker 6: And unfortunately is I think we're at a point now where,
• 8:03
Speaker 6: particularly like in the U sports, where parents have a
• 8:06
Speaker 6: little bit more access and freedom to rome, that that's
• 8:09
Speaker 6: gonna have to be policed from here on out. You know,
• 8:12
Speaker 6: some like high school parents are here, players are there,
• 8:16
Speaker 6: so it's gonna have to be something today. I know,
• 8:18
Speaker 6: when we talk to Chris Kessel and West Side Soccer,
• 8:20
Speaker 6: they kind of have rules and policies for parents, and unfortunately,
• 8:25
Speaker 6: I think that's where we have to go in those situations,
• 8:27
Speaker 6: and it's almost gonna have to be almost like a law,
• 8:30
Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying, right and and and I'll
• 8:33
Speaker 6: say this sometimes what you have to realize as a
• 8:38
Speaker 6: parent in a game that when your when your child loses,
• 8:45
Speaker 6: I don't care what the game is.
• 8:46
Speaker 4: I don't care if it's championship or just the regular game.
• 8:48
Speaker 4: Your child has lost. There is a lesson now that
• 8:53
Speaker 4: you can you can step into and teach. But the
• 8:58
Speaker 4: problem is if you are you aren't creating another problem.
• 9:04
  Speaker 4: If you're a loser, if you're a bad loser, you're
• 9:07
Speaker 4: not helping your son.
• 9:08
Speaker 6: But I think people don't understand the important of the
• 9:11
Speaker 6: value in taking losses, right, you know Napoleon Hill he
• 9:15
Speaker 6: says with every adversity is an equivalent seed of opportunity
• 9:18
Speaker 6: and success. And I think a lot of times people
• 9:21
Speaker 6: just don't understand that if you lost or this thing
• 9:24
Speaker 6: didn't work out, there is an opportunity in that. And
• 9:28
  Speaker 6: I think, like I said, I think to me, a
• 9:31
Speaker 6: lot of parents, a lot of this generation just just
• 9:33
Speaker 6: enamored with winning. So it's winning at all costs. And
• 9:36
Speaker 6: I think that's reflective. We talked to Nause about the
• 9:39
Speaker 6: transfer a portal, we're talking about We're gonna talk about
• 9:41
Speaker 6: some stuff even in the NFL that maybe even reflects
• 9:44
Speaker 6: just that sentiment that people have and not understanding that
• 9:48
Speaker 6: there's power in anything that you do, even a loss,
• 9:51
Speaker 6: if you have the right perspective.
• 9:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, and and shifting right into you're an NFL player, Oh,
• 10:04
Speaker 4: you're an NFL player and you're in this heated game,
• 10:11
Speaker 4: this game that's you know, that's it's coming down to
• 10:16
  Speaker 4: a single play.
• 10:18
Speaker 2: Hail Mary, Hell Mary.
• 10:19
Speaker 4: Plat Washington Command absolutely, And who were you talking to?
• 10:27
Speaker 4: You were turned and looking at in the bleachers, talking
• 10:31
Speaker 4: to fans or or the other teams fans, causing them as.
• 10:37
Speaker 2: If you have won the game.
• 10:38
Speaker 4: And in most cases there's a lot of chance that
• 10:40
Speaker 4: you should be that you could say you could you're
• 10:43
Speaker 4: gonna win this game, Hell Mary. Is a hard thing
• 10:46
Speaker 4: to do, all right, but it happens. Yeah to me,
• 10:52
Speaker 4: that is that is like, shut up, dude, you know,
• 10:58
  Speaker 4: And I.
• 10:59
Speaker 6: Believe he actually he didn't make the play, but actually
• 11:02
Speaker 6: he was the one who tipped the ball, and I
• 11:05
  Speaker 6: think I.
• 11:06
Speaker 4: Think it was it was it was all kind of
• 11:08
Speaker 4: scrambled up in there, but I think he was the
• 11:10
Speaker 4: guy who actually hit it in the air, who made
• 11:13
Speaker 4: contact with the bass which sent it in the air,
• 11:15
Speaker 4: and so so has the dB.
• 11:18
Speaker 6: You're like, what are you thinking? Hell, Mary, time is
• 11:21
  Speaker 6: a dB. I know what I'm thinking. As a quarterback.
• 11:23
Speaker 4: What the first thing that I'm doing is I'm not
• 11:26
Speaker 4: even looking at the fan.
• 11:28
Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not talking to him. I'm not talking.
• 11:32
Speaker 4: I'm trying to make sure all the team, all the
• 11:34
Speaker 4: guys in the secondary, we know what's coming. So I'm saying, like, specifically,
• 11:39
Speaker 4: what are your what are the instructions that your DC
• 11:41
Speaker 4: is giving you be the deepest of the deepest.
• 11:44
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 11:45
Speaker 4: And when the ball, everybody's jumping and everybody's swiping the
• 11:49
Speaker 4: ball down, like it's like, if you can get to
• 11:52
Speaker 4: the ball, don't try to make the interception.
• 11:54
Speaker 2: What you're trying to do is knock the ball to
• 11:56
  Speaker 2: the ground.
• 11:58
Speaker 4: So you're gonna have at least three guys in the back,
• 12:01
Speaker 4: two guys in the front, two guys side by side. Yeah, okay,
• 12:06
Speaker 4: and everybody's jumping to knock the ball down.
• 12:11
Speaker 7: But you were there. You're there in that area when
• 12:13
Speaker 7: the play snaps, You're there, you're focus time. Did you
• 12:18
Speaker 7: notice how he kind of delayed, like he was over there.
• 12:21
Speaker 7: It was almost like he was a split second late
• 12:24
Speaker 7: getting to the play.
• 12:25
Speaker 2: That was my point, Yes, because he was so key.
• 12:29
Speaker 7: You know, doing things and aggravating the fans that he
• 12:33
Speaker 7: I don't think he really thought that hal Mary had
• 12:35
Speaker 7: any chance at all, right, and when he saw that it,
• 12:38
Speaker 7: oh wow, this is really coming to these guys.
• 12:40
Speaker 4: Didn't you think he kind of was hesitant even like
• 12:43
Speaker 4: when like like he was confused, like, well, oh wait.
• 12:46
Speaker 5: A minute, wait a minute, this might happen.
• 12:48
Speaker 7: This is happening, and then he starts to run toward
• 12:50
  Speaker 7: the point exactly.
• 12:51
  Speaker 5: That's why.
• 12:54
Speaker 2: He was the guy.
• 12:55
Speaker 5: Watched right before the play like he's kind of like.
• 12:58
Speaker 7: I think he gives the finger to he's doing all
• 13:03
  Speaker 7: the things.
• 13:03
  Speaker 4: Yeah, he's really Again, I think he's a guy because
• 13:07
Speaker 4: he's out of position at this time, because to your point,
• 13:09
Speaker 4: he wasn't the deepest of the deep, so he was
• 13:12
Speaker 4: out by him. He was on the other side, and
• 13:17
Speaker 4: it was him he tipped the ball up, so again,
• 13:20
Speaker 4: had he been the deepest of the been in position,
• 13:23
Speaker 4: he probably either makes an easy PIX or makes an
• 13:25
  Speaker 4: easy PV.
• 13:27
Speaker 2: He's too he's too involved into the fan base.
• 13:32
Speaker 7: And here's the other part, and it kind of goes back, Carl,
• 13:34
Speaker 7: to what you were saying about youth football and not
• 13:36
Speaker 7: taking responsibility for your your behavior after a loss. What
• 13:40
Speaker 7: did he say at the press or was the problem?
• 13:42
  Speaker 7: He didn't say.
• 13:43
  Speaker 2: He didn't.
• 13:43
Speaker 7: He didn't say, oh, I was over there, you know,
• 13:45
Speaker 7: messing with fans and not really focused on the game.
• 13:48
Speaker 5: He said what he was tired? Basically, is that what
• 13:53
  Speaker 5: you know?
• 13:53
  Speaker 2: That that's that's a that's another situation.
• 13:55
Speaker 5: Okay, did he take responsibility for it?
• 13:59
Speaker 2: I have not heard that.
• 14:00
  Speaker 7: That's something that I like, Yeah, because that's a part
• 14:05
Speaker 7: of loss, like being able to admit when you're wrong.
• 14:08
Speaker 4: But where do you think? What should what should? We
• 14:10
Speaker 4: have already heard to.
• 14:12
  Speaker 2: Me old school?
• 14:14
Speaker 4: The head coach has already come out and straight up said, son,
• 14:20
  Speaker 4: you're he's on probation, he's fine, he's something.
• 14:23
Speaker 2: He's off the team. He's something. You can't pete him
• 14:26
Speaker 2: off the team. Now, that's extreme.
• 14:28
  Speaker 5: It's sustained.
• 14:30
Speaker 4: You don't think you don't you don't think that play
• 14:32
Speaker 4: was extreme. I mean, okay, I give you the play
• 14:34
Speaker 4: was extreme, but I mean it's one play. I mean
• 14:36
Speaker 4: he could be reprimanded practice maybe find something like that,
• 14:40
  Speaker 4: but I don't, I don't know we go to that
• 14:42
Speaker 4: ain't no fine, there's no fine. That's gonna hurt any
• 14:46
Speaker 4: NFL player exactly know.
• 14:49
Speaker 2: You can you can take the game.
• 14:52
Speaker 5: It was yeah, the commander, it.
• 14:54
Speaker 2: Cost you a game.
• 14:55
Speaker 4: Now, now, now what if you don't make the playoffs
• 14:58
Speaker 4: and that was the game, that's the game, or you're
• 15:01
  Speaker 4: one game short.
• 15:02
  Speaker 6: I just I'm just having a hard time, Like I
• 15:05
Speaker 6: just can't be how unfocused he was on that play,
• 15:10
Speaker 6: just like your thought process to even go do something
• 15:13
Speaker 6: like well, let's just and his back was turned like
• 15:15
Speaker 6: so as the plays actually beginning and the receivers are running,
• 15:20
Speaker 6: he's still like talking to them.
• 15:21
Speaker 4: He turns and it is like confused of like where
• 15:23
Speaker 4: he needs to go, which is to the other side
• 15:26
Speaker 4: of the field. Because I'm because it seems to me
• 15:29
Speaker 4: when you look at it, the hell Mary is on
• 15:30
Speaker 4: the other side, it's away from him. So I'm thinking
• 15:34
Speaker 4: because he's thinking that the hell mayor is going to
• 15:36
Speaker 4: be quote to the wide side.
• 15:38
Speaker 2: He's on the short side.
• 15:39
Speaker 4: He's talking to these fans, trying to do something to
• 15:42
Speaker 4: make what point to them?
• 15:44
  Speaker 2: And now.
• 15:46
Speaker 4: What example is he in the team? Like, come on,
• 15:52
Speaker 4: I'm at least I'm gonna ask this question. I'm gonna
• 15:55
Speaker 4: ask this question. Extreme thing happens to a to a
• 16:00
Speaker 4: kid that is struggling to read right and and another teacher,
• 16:06
Speaker 4: a teacher then comes in and critiques this kid in
• 16:10
Speaker 4: a drastic kind of way to kind of hurt their feelings.
• 16:12
Speaker 2: Right, are you keeping them? Are you keeping that teacher?
• 16:19
Speaker 5: Well, I mean professionally, I don't really have that power.
• 16:21
Speaker 2: I know, but I'm just saying, just as an example.
• 16:25
Speaker 7: I think I may take them to the side and say, look,
• 16:28
Speaker 7: you know, the way you approach this student was a
• 16:30
Speaker 7: little harsh. Maybe in the future, you know. I think
• 16:34
Speaker 7: if what you're trying to ask me is in the
• 16:36
Speaker 7: in the in the case of the coach and the player,
• 16:39
Speaker 7: I do think he needs to be reprimanded in some
• 16:41
Speaker 7: way and probably publicly.
• 16:44
Speaker 4: See And again, I guess I guess when I think
• 16:47
Speaker 4: about it, I think about it from an old school
• 16:49
Speaker 4: kind of thing, like I see it like there are
• 16:52
Speaker 4: certain types of things that maybe are simple and normal,
• 16:56
Speaker 4: because this is that what he did is not normal.
• 16:59
Speaker 5: So how many years in the league does he have.
• 17:01
  Speaker 4: I mean, if he's a Brookie, he's definitely not a no.
• 17:05
Speaker 4: And he didn't necessarily apologize. I think he was explaining
• 17:08
Speaker 4: the situation. He said that he was actually talking to
• 17:12
Speaker 4: like cheering with Bear fans, and he said his job
• 17:16
Speaker 4: was to just box out one of the receivers, but
• 17:18
Speaker 4: he ended up making a play and knocking it up,
• 17:20
Speaker 4: so he didn't necessarily apologize. I don't know if he
• 17:22
Speaker 4: actually took uh, you know, accountability for his action. Let
• 17:28
Speaker 4: me ask you both this question. I do that I
• 17:31
Speaker 4: cost us a game. I'm coming into the locker room
• 17:35
Speaker 4: when you're not feeling a certain kind of way.
• 17:36
Speaker 2: I think all of them definitely.
• 17:37
Speaker 4: I think you see what I'm saying right Like, if
• 17:40
Speaker 4: you actually saw it or you saw it thereafter, you're like, man,
• 17:44
Speaker 4: what do you think?
• 17:45
Speaker 7: But is he typically I mean, this is something else
• 17:47
Speaker 7: you want to look at too. You'd have to look
• 17:48
Speaker 7: at his past history. Is he typically a showboter? Is
• 17:51
Speaker 7: he somebody that is known for that type of behavior
• 17:53
Speaker 7: at the end of games or during the game, for
• 17:56
Speaker 7: that matter. Is he a talker you know what I
• 17:57
Speaker 7: mean with other players, which I know all players are
• 18:00
Speaker 7: to a degree, But is he one that really is
• 18:02
Speaker 7: animated and gets the team in trouble with penalties for
• 18:05
Speaker 7: doing that that sort of thing.
• 18:07
Speaker 2: Okay, what I understand this, This is how I understand it.
• 18:11
Speaker 2: This is how I kind of have been taught and
• 18:13
Speaker 2: and kind of learned.
• 18:14
Speaker 4: Right, all right, So I got an opportunity to go
• 18:18
Speaker 4: one on one with Jerry Rice twice a year for
• 18:21
Speaker 4: a few years, back to back. Okay, I'm not going
• 18:25
Speaker 4: to get up there and say something negative about him
• 18:30
Speaker 4: or even try to talk an he smack to him?
• 18:33
  Speaker 2: Why because I know I.
• 18:36
Speaker 4: Don't need to give him any more reason to want
• 18:40
Speaker 4: to work any more harder to beat me now. But
• 18:44
Speaker 4: I say, that's probably not your game, and that's in
• 18:46
Speaker 4: talking smack is different than I think. What this guy
• 18:49
Speaker 4: was doing, I would say, is old school coaches. You
• 18:53
Speaker 4: say his head wasn't in the game.
• 18:56
Speaker 5: Okay, there, I will get the game.
• 19:01
Speaker 2: I will give you that.
• 19:01
Speaker 4: This is a difference. We talked it's man going back
• 19:03
Speaker 4: and forth, but he wasn't. But here's the thing. One
• 19:07
Speaker 4: of the things Bud Grant used to say all the
• 19:09
Speaker 4: time for us, the fans aren't there. Yeah, and general general,
• 19:14
Speaker 4: you don't hear him or see him.
• 19:15
Speaker 2: You space, you put him out of your mind.
• 19:20
Speaker 4: He's sitting with them basically what he's he's talking and
• 19:25
Speaker 4: waving him off and doing all that.
• 19:27
Speaker 5: And I don't think he was interacting with Bears fans.
• 19:29
  Speaker 5: I think it was. I think, I mean that's.
• 19:31
Speaker 7: What he said that he wasn't like, you know, cheering
• 19:34
  Speaker 7: and classing.
• 19:35
  Speaker 2: It was.
• 19:35
Speaker 5: It was not that type of being, not that, not
• 19:38
  Speaker 5: at all.
• 19:39
  Speaker 2: And then this.
• 19:40
Speaker 4: Comes down on you, you know, so trying to make
• 19:45
Speaker 4: this into the case of.
• 19:48
  Speaker 2: It's ignorant.
• 19:49
Speaker 4: To me, it's it has nothing to do with team.
• 19:55
  Speaker 2: And to me, I can't I don't know now how
• 19:58
  Speaker 2: I can trust.
• 19:59
Speaker 6: You well, speaking of trust, speaking of trust, Okay, my
• 20:04
Speaker 6: man Anthony was an Anthony Richardson, a quarterback from the
• 20:08
Speaker 6: Indianapolis coach. He checks himself out of the game with
• 20:12
Speaker 6: the excuse that I'm tired now again.
• 20:17
Speaker 4: We talk about we talk about literally parents, we talk
• 20:21
Speaker 4: about my guys Chicago. I have never ever, ever seen
• 20:27
Speaker 4: a quarterback ever do that. And you know the position,
• 20:32
Speaker 4: you know kind of what your team needs, out of you.
• 20:34
Speaker 4: This isn't a fluid position where we can just hey,
• 20:37
Speaker 4: bringing the next guy, because supposedly, if I'm the starter,
• 20:40
Speaker 4: I'm significantly probably better than the backup in some capacities.
• 20:44
Speaker 4: And being a quarterback, you're the natural leader of the offense,
• 20:47
Speaker 4: natural leader of the team, and it's kind of based
• 20:50
Speaker 4: around you, kind of the game plan, right, And I
• 20:53
Speaker 4: just don't know what that says for I think he's
• 20:55
Speaker 4: a second year of quarterback. To to do something like that,
• 20:58
Speaker 4: that's just mind blowing to me, Lisa.
• 21:02
Speaker 7: I just think it's mind blowing that any NFL player
• 21:05
Speaker 7: would have the audacity to go to their boss and
• 21:07
Speaker 7: say I'm tired. I mean, you're being paid really really
• 21:12
Speaker 7: well to go out there on any given Sunday and
• 21:15
Speaker 7: and and play, and to just just decide that you
• 21:19
  Speaker 7: you're you're done, I'm tired.
• 21:21
Speaker 5: That is just unacceptable to me.
• 21:23
Speaker 7: That's more unacceptable to me than what happened with the
• 21:26
Speaker 7: player and the commanders.
• 21:29
Speaker 5: I mean, he at.
• 21:29
Speaker 7: Least was out on the field, and yeah, he he
• 21:31
Speaker 7: made a mental mistake. But when you just say I'm
• 21:35
Speaker 7: done to me, that that to me is much more
• 21:39
Speaker 7: of a of a more serious offense than what happened
• 21:42
Speaker 7: at that other game.
• 21:43
Speaker 4: See, I'm going to stay I think that, I think,
• 21:46
Speaker 4: I think that lack of focus in the game. I
• 21:52
Speaker 4: still I still, I'm still gonna lean that as as
• 21:55
Speaker 4: still top bro your quarterback. Here's here's here's my issue
• 22:01
Speaker 4: with with him, And this is what I'm thinking. He's thinking, Okay,
• 22:05
Speaker 4: I am the quarterback, I am your guy, so I
• 22:11
Speaker 4: can take this break.
• 22:14
  Speaker 2: I can wait.
• 22:15
Speaker 4: They tell you, tap your tap, tap your helmet, tap
• 22:19
Speaker 4: on top of helmet.
• 22:19
Speaker 2: And we that lets us know that you're tired. You
• 22:21
Speaker 2: need to come out.
• 22:22
Speaker 4: He taps this helmet, he comes out for whatever amount
• 22:26
Speaker 4: of plays he thinks he needs. He's thinking that that's okay,
• 22:33
Speaker 4: But it is nowhere unless you're I mean, unless you're injured.
• 22:37
Speaker 4: I'm saying, and I'm kind of going to expand what
• 22:40
Speaker 4: I had previously thought about Tay because I'm saying, offensive lineman,
• 22:44
Speaker 4: you really don't have that option. No, I'm saying quarterback
• 22:47
Speaker 4: you don't have that option. I'm saying linebacker you don't
• 22:49
Speaker 4: have that option. And I'll even say cornerbacks, defensive backs,
• 22:53
Speaker 4: you kind of don't have that option. Left to me,
• 22:57
Speaker 4: it's like you're running back and your receivers. Considering receiver
• 23:03
Speaker 4: might run two or three nine routes back to back,
• 23:05
Speaker 4: and generally the guy who's like the second or third
• 23:08
Speaker 4: receiver starting receiver, there may not be a whole lot
• 23:11
Speaker 4: of difference between the five, five and six guy. But
• 23:14
Speaker 4: when you're talking about quarterback, when you talk about offensive linement,
• 23:16
Speaker 4: generally there's a drop and just be But beyond that,
• 23:21
Speaker 4: as a quarterback that you never you never. I'm saying
• 23:26
Speaker 4: from a competitive standpoint, you never let the backup come
• 23:30
Speaker 4: in unless it's mop up, clean up time.
• 23:32
Speaker 2: You don't even approach that subject.
• 23:34
Speaker 4: I don't even want you to see how good that
• 23:36
Speaker 4: guy can be in live action. And I'm certainly not
• 23:40
Speaker 4: going to bow out why the game is progressed.
• 23:44
Speaker 2: I have said on this show a number of times.
• 23:48
Speaker 4: I get my starting job because the dude does not
• 23:51
Speaker 4: want to take a shot to play, and because his
• 23:56
Speaker 4: ankle was hurt he had been out for some weeks.
• 24:01
Speaker 2: They asked if he could play. He says he can't.
• 24:05
  Speaker 2: I can't go.
• 24:06
Speaker 4: We can shoot it up. You won't even feel it. Nah,
• 24:08
Speaker 4: I'm good. I get to start. The rest is his dresses,
• 24:11
Speaker 4: you know, so I can't even So do you think
• 24:15
Speaker 4: I was ever not gonna take a shot. Do you
• 24:17
Speaker 4: think I'm ever gonna come out and say I'm hey,
• 24:21
Speaker 4: I'm tired. No, But I'm just saying and all that's
• 24:24
Speaker 4: to me is just double down because you're the quarterback. Yes,
• 24:28
Speaker 4: even the quarterback. I've never seen a quarterback voluntarily say
• 24:33
  Speaker 4: I never.
• 24:34
Speaker 5: Unless he was hurt.
• 24:36
Speaker 2: And if he ain't hurt, he ain't going.
• 24:37
Speaker 4: They're making him making him go.
• 24:41
Speaker 2: Byron Leftwi was back in the day, remember.
• 24:42
Speaker 5: That game, carried him down the field.
• 24:45
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Yeah, we see quarterbacks play
• 24:47
Speaker 2: Brett Fait playing with broken.
• 24:48
Speaker 5: Hands and no, no, no, I just want to interrupt.
• 24:52
Speaker 7: I just wanted to say, don't you feel like there's
• 24:54
Speaker 7: also a lack of loyalty like I feel like with
• 24:58
Speaker 7: these players or back in the day when talking about
• 25:00
Speaker 7: the Byron left whiches and and you know that the
• 25:02
Speaker 7: guys that you know went in hurt and played and
• 25:06
Speaker 7: physically and and and you know, visually you could see
• 25:09
Speaker 7: that they they were physically hurt and they're still out
• 25:11
Speaker 7: there trying to win for their team. And a lot
• 25:13
Speaker 7: of these players, I think at the NFL level now,
• 25:17
Speaker 7: I think they it's just so fluid now. They just
• 25:20
Speaker 7: go from one team to another and there's not a
• 25:22
Speaker 7: whole lot of And we've talked about this. I think
• 25:25
Speaker 7: the last show about teamwork. It's more individual you know, individuality,
• 25:29
Speaker 7: it's about what's good for me, not what's good for
• 25:32
Speaker 7: the team. And I think he was worried about himself.
• 25:34
Speaker 7: It sounds like rather than the team.
• 25:36
Speaker 6: Do you think he's making a selfish decision or a
• 25:40
Speaker 6: business decision? Say, hey, I'm tired, I'm not looking great.
• 25:43
Speaker 6: Just let me get could we both.
• 25:45
  Speaker 4: See I think it's a selfish one because I'm thinking
• 25:48
Speaker 4: I'm tired, I need to take a break.
• 25:53
Speaker 2: I'm gonna go sit on the side and get me
• 25:55
  Speaker 2: some water.
• 25:56
Speaker 5: And you're not thinking about the rest of them. So
• 25:59
  Speaker 5: that's that's a lack of teams.
• 26:01
Speaker 4: Yeah, here's the thing about the quarterback. Coach I'm tired,
• 26:05
Speaker 4: called two three running plays in a row.
• 26:07
Speaker 5: There you go, and problem.
• 26:10
Speaker 2: If you just hampled out, got made fifteen yards. You tired?
• 26:15
Speaker 2: Right now, Hey, coach, hand it off me. Forget the coach.
• 26:19
Speaker 2: I'm making the call. I'm tired.
• 26:21
Speaker 4: I can't go back and do that right now. I
• 26:23
Speaker 4: need to buy two or three plays. So I'm gonna
• 26:25
Speaker 4: go hand it off. I'm gonna get a shotgun on
• 26:27
Speaker 4: a little swing pass to me as a quarterback. That's
• 26:29
Speaker 4: how you can build in that rest. And I've been
• 26:33
Speaker 4: so blown up before I had to have the running
• 26:36
Speaker 4: back or whoever call the play you called play talk
• 26:40
Speaker 4: right now, I'm gonna hand it off.
• 26:42
Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's just to me, I can't even fathom.
• 26:45
Speaker 7: This unless there's some underlying physical condition that people don't
• 26:49
Speaker 7: know about. Maybe he's getting over some type of virus
• 26:52
Speaker 7: like the flu or covid, or something else is going on.
• 26:55
Speaker 7: I mean, that's the only acceptable reason.
• 26:58
Speaker 2: But this doesn't come out. If that's the case, this
• 27:00
  Speaker 2: isn't an issue.
• 27:03
Speaker 4: That out, they wouldn't they wouldn't put it out there
• 27:05
Speaker 4: because the first thing they'd say was he had been
• 27:07
Speaker 4: sick all week, he had had you know, he was
• 27:10
  Speaker 4: just coming on.
• 27:12
Speaker 2: Then they would team.
• 27:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean they would prepare differently.
• 27:17
Speaker 2: After the fact after yeah.
• 27:20
Speaker 4: You I mean to me, if if there's that situation
• 27:25
Speaker 4: and you're worried about the team the other the opposing team,
• 27:28
Speaker 4: then you you don't say anything at all. But then
• 27:31
Speaker 4: once this happens and all this chatter starts coming out.
• 27:34
Speaker 4: What's the first thing you should be saying?
• 27:36
Speaker 5: He was, I haven't heard him, okay, And.
• 27:48
  Speaker 4: I just don't know how. I just don't know how
• 27:50
Speaker 4: how we how we do it? And Holliston, I'm thinking,
• 27:53
Speaker 4: and I'm and I'm tying these things to sports, you know,
• 27:59
Speaker 4: the development in in sports, Like what are these kids feeling?
• 28:05
  Speaker 6: You know?
• 28:05
Speaker 4: And when I'm saying kids, and then I'm saying middle school,
• 28:08
Speaker 4: then I'm saying high school, and then I'm saying.
• 28:10
Speaker 2: College, Like what are they thinking?
• 28:12
Speaker 4: Like do they feel if I'm getting a million dollars
• 28:16
Speaker 4: in menil money and I'm at a school and I
• 28:19
Speaker 4: and I know for five I'm making the most.
• 28:21
Speaker 2: Money I can be, why can't I be tired? Okay?
• 28:27
Speaker 4: You know that was that was kind of like just
• 28:29
Speaker 4: to you know, walk down the other side for a minute.
• 28:32
Speaker 4: Is it a situation and where we're saying, like, on
• 28:34
  Speaker 4: one hand, we're.
• 28:35
Speaker 6: Saying, well, we don't want to go back to the
• 28:36
Speaker 6: old school concussions and you know, we don't want to,
• 28:40
Speaker 6: you know, have players injured for their lives. So on
• 28:42
Speaker 6: one hand we could say that on but on the
• 28:44
Speaker 6: other hand, where we're sort of reprimanding him for doing
• 28:46
Speaker 6: maybe what some guys should have did back in the day,
• 28:48
  Speaker 6: where Hey, I'm tired, I don't feel like I'm physically
• 28:51
Speaker 6: able to perform at this time moment.
• 28:54
Speaker 2: I need like two or three, I need a blow.
• 28:57
Speaker 2: So shouldn't he be a lot? Should he? Should he
• 28:59
  Speaker 2: be commended for that? I would? I can't say. I can't.
• 29:08
Speaker 2: I cannot say it. I cannot. I openly cannot say
• 29:12
Speaker 2: I'm okay with that blow.
• 29:13
Speaker 7: I think that it would be okay, Hollis if there
• 29:15
Speaker 7: was an underlying physical condition.
• 29:18
Speaker 2: But what if you're just tired. Though you're just tired, that's.
• 29:21
Speaker 5: Not in the vocabulary players, I should never in a condition.
• 29:26
Speaker 2: Were you in a condition? But but you know, game speed,
• 29:28
  Speaker 2: everything changes.
• 29:29
Speaker 4: And I'm saying if I'm blown, if I blew, if
• 29:31
Speaker 4: I'm blown up and I need some oxygen and I
• 29:35
Speaker 4: don't want to and if I stand the game, and
• 29:37
Speaker 4: if I got a force to run, if something happens,
• 29:39
Speaker 4: then I could be heard, I can fumble the ball
• 29:41
Speaker 4: something like that. So bring him in for a couple players,
• 29:43
Speaker 4: Let me get a little blow, and I'll be right
• 29:45
Speaker 4: back in. So shouldn't he be allowed to do that? Yes,
• 29:49
Speaker 4: and and shouldn't be commended for that. No, because.
• 29:53
Speaker 2: To my if I if I'm correct on this, I'm
• 29:57
  Speaker 2: the coach.
• 29:57
  Speaker 5: I'm taking notes.
• 30:00
Speaker 2: They did they replace him. I believe believe they replaced it.
• 30:05
Speaker 4: So there's so something in there did not add up.
• 30:09
Speaker 4: Cause if if you tell me you're you're tired, okay,
• 30:14
Speaker 4: and you're and you're my quarterback and you need to
• 30:17
Speaker 4: blow the issue is either the offensive coordinator me, somebody's
• 30:23
Speaker 4: blamed for you not being in shape.
• 30:25
Speaker 2: The one thing you was never gonna do is punch out.
• 30:27
Speaker 4: Thing but today but you know, sometimes it ain't about shape.
• 30:30
Speaker 4: We could be in shape, and just the games feeding adrenaline.
• 30:33
Speaker 4: You know, it can wear you out not to come out,
• 30:37
Speaker 4: not voluntarily anyway, Yeah, not voluntarily to come out. Like again,
• 30:41
Speaker 4: just being a quarterback.
• 30:43
Speaker 6: I've been a starter, backup quarterback in and out and
• 30:45
Speaker 6: I just know, like once I get in the game,
• 30:47
  Speaker 6: I ain't trying.
• 30:47
Speaker 2: You ain't trying. I'm not checking myself out.
• 30:50
Speaker 6: But I'm saying, though, what we seen with Tua, what
• 30:54
Speaker 6: we've seen with you know, concussions and people getting injured
• 30:57
Speaker 6: and different things like that. If a player is saying, look,
• 31:00
Speaker 6: I know my body, and I know right now I've
• 31:03
Speaker 6: at a point where I could possibly get hurt or
• 31:05
Speaker 6: I could cost my team a turnover. I need a blow,
• 31:08
Speaker 6: even the quarterback. Should we not be looking at this
• 31:11
Speaker 6: and saying this is a good thing or this is
• 31:13
  Speaker 6: a evolutionary spot.
• 31:16
  Speaker 2: I think, I think there's a there's a place for it.
• 31:19
  Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think. I don't think it's that. Okay,
• 31:24
Speaker 2: explain what does that mean?
• 31:25
  Speaker 4: Okay, So, yes, there's a there's a potential that you
• 31:28
Speaker 4: could be so tired that you you need to blow.
• 31:33
  Speaker 2: I think that.
• 31:33
Speaker 4: I think if we're gonna if we're gonna get to
• 31:36
Speaker 4: that space to where somebody is dictating who's coming in
• 31:40
Speaker 4: who's coming out. Right, So let's say you're the trainer.
• 31:45
Speaker 4: You you see me and I you know I'm quarterback.
• 31:49
Speaker 4: You see me, and you saying, hey, I think he
• 31:50
Speaker 4: needs to blow. Let's get him out. Okay. I as
• 31:55
Speaker 4: a coach, I'd be fine with that.
• 31:59
Speaker 2: But if you if you're coming to the sideline, if you.
• 32:04
Speaker 4: Tap your helmet, okay, and tell that's the signal saying
• 32:07
Speaker 4: that you tapped, I'm gonna get I'm gonna get you.
• 32:10
  Speaker 4: I'm gonna get you a backup. I just don't know
• 32:14
Speaker 4: if I've ever seen a quarterback.
• 32:17
Speaker 2: I have never seen it, ever seen.
• 32:18
Speaker 5: A quarterback play before that. I mean was he was?
• 32:21
Speaker 5: He struggling just like over.
• 32:24
Speaker 4: I don't think there was anything dramatic about, anything precursor
• 32:30
Speaker 4: to I just think it was just you know, hey.
• 32:33
Speaker 2: Y'all carry on on the show. I'll be right back.
• 32:35
Speaker 2: I need a drink a winter you know what I'm saying.
• 32:38
  Speaker 2: That's crazy.
• 32:38
Speaker 6: I mean again, I'm trying to look at it from
• 32:41
Speaker 6: both sides. I put but I just never I have
• 32:44
Speaker 6: never seen a quarterback do that. I've never ever ever
• 32:47
Speaker 6: seen a quarterback do that. Not a quarterback. I've seen
• 32:50
Speaker 6: a lot of other positions do it, but not quarterback.
• 32:52
Speaker 2: And and think about it, what do you do? You
• 32:56
Speaker 2: know that like when you when you're making that decision,
• 32:58
Speaker 2: I'm gonna make the case you're you.
• 32:59
Speaker 4: Don't know that this is a first probably ever for
• 33:04
Speaker 4: at least for many of us, for many of us,
• 33:07
Speaker 4: right that you're going to walk out, like what are
• 33:10
Speaker 4: you thinking today? Like what are you possibly thinking today?
• 33:14
Speaker 2: You got it? At least?
• 33:15
Speaker 4: What what what is he thinking today? He's reading all this,
• 33:18
Speaker 4: he's seeing all this, what's he thinking.
• 33:20
Speaker 7: Well, I mean, it depends on what his mindset was
• 33:22
Speaker 7: when he took the break, you know, like I mean,
• 33:24
Speaker 7: does he have does he have a medical does he
• 33:26
Speaker 7: feel like there's something physically going on with him, or
• 33:29
Speaker 7: does he know that he just needed a break from
• 33:31
Speaker 7: it that you know, he just wasn't playing well. And
• 33:33
Speaker 7: I just think there's so many other factors you'd have
• 33:35
Speaker 7: to look at, like his previous play in the game,
• 33:37
Speaker 7: like you said, he was you know, he was doing okay,
• 33:39
Speaker 7: he wasn't like setting the world on fire.
• 33:42
Speaker 5: But here's the other thing.
• 33:44
Speaker 7: Maybe coming through the ranks of you know, high school football,
• 33:49
Speaker 7: collegiate football, that was just something that he did and
• 33:53
Speaker 7: it was accepted by his coaches and I can see
• 33:56
Speaker 7: that from the staff. And so now that he's at
• 33:58
Speaker 7: the NFL level, I mean, it's if I need a break,
• 34:01
  Speaker 7: I take a break.
• 34:02
Speaker 5: That's just the way it is. Because I'm who I am, right, Yes.
• 34:05
Speaker 4: Yes, okay, so we're gonna take a break, but I'm
• 34:09
Speaker 4: gonna say you're here, I'm gonna say.
• 34:13
Speaker 6: And the game was twenty three, twenty three to twenty Houston, Texas,
• 34:16
Speaker 6: So it wasn't like it was a like it was
• 34:19
  Speaker 6: getting blown out.
• 34:19
Speaker 2: So it was a tight game.
• 34:20
Speaker 5: Out couldn't afford to Lee.
• 34:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm gonna say about the game was a
• 34:25
Speaker 2: tight game. I'm gonna say to this NFL not for long, ladies.

Speaker 3: Now back through the conversation.
• 35:31
Speaker 2: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, we're back off of breaking and.
• 35:35
Speaker 4: Even the start of the break, we couldn't get off
• 35:38
Speaker 4: of the of the subject of being tired and what
• 35:42
Speaker 4: justifies being tired or or what actually qualifies you to
• 35:48
Speaker 4: come out of a game if you are the quarterback.
• 35:51
Speaker 4: And I'm going to make the case that the quarterback
• 35:54
Speaker 4: probably is not that person.
• 35:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and he was having pretty a pretty
• 36:00
Speaker 2: miserable game. I mean he was.
• 36:01
Speaker 6: He was ten for thirty two, one hundred and seventy
• 36:04
Speaker 6: five yards. He had one touchdown, one pick. So it
• 36:08
Speaker 6: wasn't like it was any sack five times.
• 36:10
Speaker 5: Oh wow, it was offensive line.
• 36:15
Speaker 2: Well so are you so okay?
• 36:16
Speaker 4: So now can we interpret that tired is like man,
• 36:18
Speaker 4: I'm beat up, right, I mean, you could interpret that,
• 36:21
Speaker 4: but again, that's the nature of the position. And I
• 36:23
Speaker 4: was gonna and it's one of those things where like
• 36:26
Speaker 4: you have to fight through it if you're and the
• 36:28
Speaker 4: thing is you're allowed to fight through it because I mean,
• 36:30
Speaker 4: you're ten for thirty two. That means you're not having
• 36:32
Speaker 4: a good game at all.
• 36:33
Speaker 7: That doesn't he have time to have a good game.
• 36:35
Speaker 7: It sounds like a line is not there to help
• 36:38
  Speaker 7: him out.
• 36:39
Speaker 2: And that can be true.
• 36:40
Speaker 4: Frustrating, yes, but frustrating doesn't put you out, like you
• 36:44
Speaker 4: don't come out and frustration and again, but the game
• 36:46
Speaker 4: is twenty to twenty three, so it's not like you're
• 36:49
  Speaker 4: getting blown out.
• 36:50
Speaker 2: It's not like the game is so out of hand,
• 36:52
Speaker 2: you know what I mean, You're you're in it until
• 36:54
Speaker 2: pretty like to the wire.
• 36:56
  Speaker 4: See and I'm I'm I'm thinking again. Generation Okay, nobody's
• 37:02
Speaker 4: coming out of that game. Yeah, and nobody, nobody wants
• 37:05
Speaker 4: to be subbed out of that game. We still got
• 37:07
Speaker 4: a chance to win.
• 37:08
Speaker 6: But I mean, but you but let me ask you,
• 37:09
Speaker 6: this is from like a general standpoint, is this sort
• 37:12
Speaker 6: of a do you think again, not that this very
• 37:16
Speaker 6: incident will spark something, but do you think this is
• 37:19
Speaker 6: sort of just a change in how like athletes are
• 37:22
Speaker 6: sort of viewing themselves like this is a business as
• 37:26
Speaker 6: an entity or just saying I know what I need
• 37:29
Speaker 6: for me right now, as opposed to the coach or
• 37:32
Speaker 6: the team dictating that.
• 37:33
Speaker 4: I purposely opened the show with that conversation about you know,
• 37:39
Speaker 4: drama in a game, you know, and the adults being
• 37:43
Speaker 4: that drama right wrong or indifferent, justified or not, they
• 37:46
Speaker 4: become they become the whole game.
• 37:50
  Speaker 8: You know.
• 37:51
Speaker 4: You got officials wanting to leave, You got all these
• 37:52
Speaker 4: kind of things. So you're you're creating an issue that
• 37:56
Speaker 4: sparks what the game? How you tag the game right
• 38:01
Speaker 4: at the end of the game, when it's over, you
• 38:03
Speaker 4: tag the game in this negative way because of these things. Okay, Now,
• 38:09
Speaker 4: if we get players who who are in the quarterback position,
• 38:14
Speaker 4: in the mainstream line of the game, picking and choosing
• 38:20
Speaker 4: when they want to walk off the field full break
• 38:25
  Speaker 4: for water.
• 38:26
Speaker 2: Hey I need water, you know, and let me let me.
• 38:29
Speaker 4: I'm gonna come out, take a take a seat for
• 38:31
Speaker 4: a couple of plays, and then I'll be back in.
• 38:33
Speaker 5: Okay, but Hollis, you did say he'd been socked five times.
• 38:37
Speaker 2: You've been sacked five times in that game?
• 38:39
Speaker 5: In that game, Okay, that that's successive? Is it not
• 38:42
  Speaker 5: for an NFL?
• 38:44
Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, so I mean it is, it is, Okay,
• 38:48
  Speaker 2: it is in.
• 38:49
Speaker 5: The manner of the socks. Also, you probably have to.
• 38:51
Speaker 2: See the way he down sure that they were tough.
• 38:54
Speaker 7: Okay, so maybe in his mind, I'm not saying right
• 38:57
Speaker 7: or wrong. I'm saying in his mind, he's and maybe
• 39:00
Speaker 7: they've had some injuries on the offensive line that they
• 39:02
Speaker 7: didn't have their normal starters in there. Like I said,
• 39:04
Speaker 7: there's so many other factors you need to look at
• 39:07
Speaker 7: that could have played ended the reason he said he
• 39:09
Speaker 7: was tired. Like I said, he could have just been
• 39:11
Speaker 7: tired of being sacked and he was afraid that he
• 39:14
Speaker 7: might end up with a concussion or some serious injury
• 39:17
  Speaker 7: if it continued.
• 39:18
Speaker 2: Okay, again, I'm old.
• 39:20
Speaker 5: I'm throwing it out.
• 39:21
Speaker 4: It says after a sequence midway through the third quarter,
• 39:25
Speaker 4: and again, the game is tight all the way through.
• 39:27
Speaker 6: This is a tight game. After scrambling and eventually being
• 39:31
Speaker 6: sacked for no loss, to your point, Richardson tapped his helmet,
• 39:36
Speaker 6: exiting the game. Joe Flacco replaced him for one play
• 39:41
Speaker 6: on their third and twenty three, and he came back continueing, Okay.
• 39:47
Speaker 5: So, oh now see, I'm starting to change my mind.
• 39:50
Speaker 4: I'm okay, I'm okay. I'm okay with the one play
• 39:53
Speaker 4: thing after a hit, I'm okay with that. The other situation,
• 39:57
Speaker 4: when I was getting ready to say, but even the
• 40:00
Speaker 4: one play, I mean, do you do you do that?
• 40:04
  Speaker 2: Yeah?
• 40:04
  Speaker 4: I think that's I think that you're not injured, you're
• 40:06
Speaker 4: not nothing hit to him And to his point though.
• 40:12
Speaker 2: Now he said he was tired.
• 40:14
Speaker 4: Now I'm making the case that the coach, I think
• 40:17
Speaker 4: this is where you're gonna go. The coach wasn't okay
• 40:19
Speaker 4: with it because he's getting replaced. He's getting So what
• 40:22
Speaker 4: I'm saying is that all in all you still have
• 40:25
Speaker 4: And again we gotta remember he wasn't looking great, but
• 40:28
Speaker 4: the team still has an opportunity to win this game
• 40:30
Speaker 4: because it was a tight game all the way through.
• 40:32
Speaker 6: It's a back and forth game. You tap out, it's
• 40:36
Speaker 6: third and twenty three after scramble and again. And I
• 40:39
Speaker 6: think sometimes when we say he got sacked five times,
• 40:41
Speaker 6: a lot of those could be on the office alignment,
• 40:43
  Speaker 6: but some quarterback.
• 40:45
  Speaker 8: Right.
• 40:46
Speaker 4: So it's like at that point, I think, when you
• 40:49
Speaker 4: do this and you're not hurt and you only need
• 40:52
Speaker 4: one play, the coach has lost faith in you because.
• 40:55
Speaker 2: One play is not one play is it shouldn't.
• 40:57
  Speaker 5: Make a game.
• 40:58
  Speaker 2: It's not, it's not it's not gonna it's not gonna
• 41:00
Speaker 2: make you, okay, command. But and it's third and twenty three.
• 41:06
  Speaker 2: What we're doing a draw a screen.
• 41:08
Speaker 4: That's what we're doing on third and twenty three, either
• 41:10
Speaker 4: handing it off or we're doing the screen or something
• 41:14
Speaker 4: something easy, so we don't cause there.
• 41:16
  Speaker 2: Had to be.
• 41:16
Speaker 4: To me, I'm gonna make make this case, and I'm
• 41:18
Speaker 4: curious what both of you all think based on what
• 41:23
Speaker 4: we're hearing and and and your research, Hollis, I'm gonna
• 41:28
Speaker 4: make a case that there has to there has to
• 41:30
Speaker 4: be something else that's creating this substitution that's changing quarterback.
• 41:38
  Speaker 4: I'm thinking it's those numbers. Yeah, I don't even know.
• 41:43
Speaker 4: We realize he taps out. So the focus is that
• 41:46
Speaker 4: he taps out, but he comes back, but he don't.
• 41:50
Speaker 4: He don't help us win, and his numbers win the game.
• 41:54
Speaker 6: After that play, they kicked the field goal and they
• 41:56
Speaker 6: lost by three points. And to your point, I know
• 41:59
Speaker 6: we talked out, we talked about it earlier. Not only
• 42:04
Speaker 6: is he be a replacement, I think you got the list.
• 42:05
Speaker 6: It's a whole host of quarterbacks, young quarterbacks that are
• 42:08
Speaker 6: being a replaced right now?
• 42:11
Speaker 2: Am I right on that? Yes you are, And I'll
• 42:13
Speaker 2: have to look him up. But so I'm saying, like,
• 42:17
Speaker 2: what do you think is the impetus for that? I
• 42:20
Speaker 2: think I think that there isn't.
• 42:24
Speaker 4: The transition from the top collegiate football level is still
• 42:30
  Speaker 4: not the NFL.
• 42:31
  Speaker 1: You know.
• 42:32
Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
• 42:32
Speaker 4: It's like, it's just because you played at the top
• 42:35
Speaker 4: level Alabama and you won four national championships, right and
• 42:41
Speaker 4: you started every game your entire career, there's still no
• 42:45
Speaker 4: guarantee that you're going to get drafted to a team
• 42:49
Speaker 4: and you're going to be able to compete. And I
• 42:52
Speaker 4: think what's happening now is I think these young guys
• 42:55
Speaker 4: coming out of school now are not respecting that step
• 42:59
Speaker 4: up up. They made this step from high school to
• 43:03
Speaker 4: college easy, and they had a great college career. So
• 43:08
Speaker 4: the anticipation of getting to college or going from college
• 43:13
Speaker 4: to pro at that position specifically, oh, that's gonna be easy.
• 43:19
Speaker 6: And just for clarification, Anthony Richardson bench twenty two years old,
• 43:24
Speaker 6: Bryce Young twenty three bench, Trey Lance twenty four bench,
• 43:28
Speaker 6: Justin Fields twenty five, bents, Will Levis twenty five, bents,
• 43:31
Speaker 6: Zach Wilson bench, Mark Jones bench, Kenny Pickens bench all
• 43:34
Speaker 6: guys under twenty six years old.
• 43:37
Speaker 4: And most of them probably all first I'm gonna say
• 43:40
Speaker 4: first to third, Yeah, it's a lot of pisa.
• 43:43
  Speaker 6: But I would also say, I think it's a it's
• 43:46
Speaker 6: a couple things happened in my my I think number one,
• 43:49
Speaker 6: I think seven on seven has dramatically changed how quarterbacks
• 43:53
Speaker 6: throw the ball and how they think about throwing the ball.
• 43:56
Speaker 6: You if you watch quarterbacks, they don't have the touch.
• 43:59
Speaker 6: Remember like a Jeff Blake, Joe Montanna, he has such
• 44:02
Speaker 6: beautiful they have such beautiful touch on the ball. But
• 44:05
Speaker 6: seven h seven has made everything so quick. So the
• 44:07
Speaker 6: way in which they throw the ball, not that the
• 44:11
Speaker 6: accuracy is off, but they don't necessarily have the placement
• 44:13
Speaker 6: and the touch just from a technical standpoint. And then
• 44:16
Speaker 6: I would also say is that you can probably attest
• 44:20
Speaker 6: to this even like at a little league level, they're
• 44:23
Speaker 6: going to a lot of teams that are stacked, so
• 44:25
Speaker 6: all the good kids are playing against excuse me, playing
• 44:28
Speaker 6: with each other against maybe less talented kids. So I
• 44:31
Speaker 6: think it creates a illusion where you're not actually playing
• 44:34
Speaker 6: against that best dB or that best D lineman, he's
• 44:36
Speaker 6: actually on your team. Because we can even look at
• 44:39
Speaker 6: that in college, if you look like the SEC, you
• 44:40
Speaker 6: look at like the Alabama's, the LSU, the Texas, those
• 44:45
Speaker 6: sort of Michigans, those Ohio States. Right, it's kind of
• 44:49
Speaker 6: them and everybody else. So there's not like the talent
• 44:52
Speaker 6: disbursement across the land, So you're not actually all the
• 44:55
Speaker 6: time maybe playing against the best team, you may have
• 44:58
Speaker 6: a player or two. But when you get to the
• 45:00
Speaker 6: NFL that it sort of evens out the talent. And
• 45:02
Speaker 6: in addition, my last point is that I think all
• 45:05
Speaker 6: the offenses are different. Again we even though at the
• 45:08
Speaker 6: NFL you gotta be able to run a little bit,
• 45:10
Speaker 6: but college you can really take advantage of that. Really
• 45:12
Speaker 6: the court, the offenses are so quarterback centric now, you
• 45:16
Speaker 6: know what I mean. Where now in the NFL it's
• 45:19
Speaker 6: still like that, but it's it's you know, it's more complex,
• 45:23
Speaker 6: and you got to be able to do different things
• 45:25
  Speaker 6: and and and.
• 45:26
Speaker 4: Lisa, I'm gonna throw this at you when to Hollis's
• 45:30
Speaker 4: point of it being folks, the focus.
• 45:32
Speaker 2: Being on the quarterback.
• 45:35
Speaker 4: That quarterback now has to be able to do everything,
• 45:40
Speaker 4: and and and and one of the most important things
• 45:43
Speaker 4: is he's got to get people to play for him.
• 45:46
Speaker 2: He's got to make that play for him. He has
• 45:48
Speaker 2: to be a leader, right. That a good point.
• 45:50
Speaker 7: Yeah, And I think too that going back to the
• 45:53
Speaker 7: collegiate level compared to the NFL level, like you said, Hollis,
• 45:57
Speaker 7: every week you're in the NFL, you're playing people that
• 46:00
Speaker 7: are equally as talented as you both sides of the ball.
• 46:03
Speaker 7: Everybody is a Georgia, I mean the quality of the player.
• 46:07
Speaker 7: Whereas the collegiate level, you're not playing every week. It's
• 46:10
Speaker 7: not the big like Alabama Georgia game. Sometimes you're gonna
• 46:13
Speaker 7: have some down games. And so the requirement of being
• 46:18
Speaker 7: at that top level every single week adrenaline wise, I
• 46:21
Speaker 7: think in the NFL that's a tough thing too. That's
• 46:24
Speaker 7: so great because you got to be you know, you're
• 46:26
Speaker 7: not going to be as hyped up when you're playing
• 46:28
Speaker 7: you know, here's a terrible example, really Ohio State Marshall.
• 46:31
Speaker 5: You know, o Higo State was like, oh, here we go,
• 46:32
  Speaker 5: we're playing Marshall.
• 46:33
Speaker 7: But they still want Whereas in the NFL, you know,
• 46:36
Speaker 7: they're thinking to themselves, yeah, we're going to play like
• 46:38
Speaker 7: the Browns. And so those young quarterbacks not really taking
• 46:42
Speaker 7: it as serious as they should because like I said,
• 46:45
Speaker 7: they're all the same caliber players and anybody can win
• 46:47
Speaker 7: on any given Sunday.
• 46:49
  Speaker 4: And I think I think there's also a mindset that
• 46:53
Speaker 4: triggers a work ethic that goes with that with that position, right,
• 47:00
Speaker 4: And I could be wrong, Hollis, you probably know a
• 47:03
Speaker 4: little bit more about this than I do. But if
• 47:05
Speaker 4: I'm if you draft me first round and you've got
• 47:09
Speaker 4: an older quarterback, or you're saying I'm coming in, for
• 47:12
Speaker 4: the most part, I know I'm coming in as the quarterback, right,
• 47:17
Speaker 4: there has to be a mindset for me that I
• 47:21
Speaker 4: still have to work. You give me five hundred million dollars,
• 47:28
Speaker 4: and two hundred of it is guaranteed. I It's not
• 47:33
Speaker 4: like I'm not gonna go out throw some balls and
• 47:35
Speaker 4: do all this kind of stuff.
• 47:35
Speaker 2: I'm gonna do some running.
• 47:37
Speaker 4: But when I get there, I'm automatically already knowing that
• 47:39
  Speaker 4: I'm I'm the I'm the guy.
• 47:43
Speaker 2: Knowing that. I don't know if that helps.
• 47:46
  Speaker 6: I mean, I think I think that I see where
• 47:49
Speaker 6: you're going and and I'll address it, but I'll take
• 47:51
Speaker 6: it back to college. I think, even like I said,
• 47:54
Speaker 6: even in college, part of what was great about the
• 47:58
Speaker 6: older quarterbacks, is that you had to who you stayed
• 48:00
Speaker 6: in college and sometimes you had to sit, so sometimes
• 48:03
Speaker 6: you had to shit there two or three years. So
• 48:05
Speaker 6: you kind of had to work your way through that process.
• 48:08
Speaker 6: And you kind of already used to deal with adversity
• 48:11
Speaker 6: as opposed now, not to say kids don't do the adversity,
• 48:14
Speaker 6: but now it's just so many options. It's fluid. Like
• 48:16
Speaker 6: you said, you can just kind of go from here
• 48:18
Speaker 6: to there or there. And I think once you get
• 48:20
Speaker 6: to the NFL again, I've never been there and never played,
• 48:22
Speaker 6: but I'm just you have to study it. It has
• 48:25
Speaker 6: to become like a vocation. I don't know, you know,
• 48:29
Speaker 6: you throwing the ball and doing it. Yeah, technically, I
• 48:32
Speaker 6: think there's some issues that you may have to clean up,
• 48:35
Speaker 6: but I think mentally you got to know this game
• 48:37
Speaker 6: because it's so complex and defenses are so good.
• 48:40
Speaker 4: And let's not count that out too. Defensive backs and
• 48:43
Speaker 4: defenses now are super good. Like you know, this ain't
• 48:48
Speaker 4: like the nick like the big Brawley linebackers. Ain't that
• 48:52
Speaker 4: these guys can run four forward d linemens are super fast.
• 48:56
Speaker 4: So defenses are really good and it's really difficult. Cool,
• 49:00
Speaker 4: like I said to to make plays well in this
• 49:03
Speaker 4: in this environment. And and so you're going, when do
• 49:07
Speaker 4: you start to learn coverages?
• 49:09
  Speaker 2: Again?
• 49:09
Speaker 4: I talked to a young man the other day, and
• 49:12
Speaker 4: you know, I was talking. He was talking about working,
• 49:15
  Speaker 4: doing some training.
• 49:15
Speaker 2: Da da da dah. And one of the questions I asked,
• 49:18
Speaker 2: I said, do you do you know coverages? Okay, but
• 49:24
Speaker 2: I would say these guys know coverages. I don't think they.
• 49:27
  Speaker 4: I don't think it's an NFL player that probably doesn't
• 49:29
Speaker 4: know coverages and different things.
• 49:31
Speaker 2: That I would agree.
• 49:33
Speaker 4: Okay, I would agree, but I'm saying for your success
• 49:38
Speaker 4: to get to the next level, yeah, you're just learn
• 49:44
Speaker 4: You're gonna just learn coverages when you get to college.
• 49:46
Speaker 2: No, no, again, you probably should learnt.
• 49:49
Speaker 4: Coaches and and and and I think part of that
• 49:51
Speaker 4: problem is is you know, what they're trying to do
• 49:55
Speaker 4: is I think what what we try to do is
• 49:58
Speaker 4: we teach the quarterback the technique that roll the ball
• 50:00
Speaker 4: to step into it. You know, all these kinds of things.
• 50:03
Speaker 4: Here's the routes. You know, we want to throw this
• 50:06
Speaker 4: strong side, but you can't. You might not be able
• 50:08
Speaker 4: to throw a strong side because coverage might be strong side.
• 50:10
Speaker 4: You know, so no one is sitting up there and
• 50:15
Speaker 4: getting them on the board or giving them a video
• 50:18
Speaker 4: and walking them become thing.
• 50:21
  Speaker 2: Don't.
• 50:21
Speaker 6: I don't know if you have to again, because now
• 50:23
Speaker 6: the athlete is playing quarterback, because we mentioned everything is
• 50:26
Speaker 6: quarterback centrist and we've said the athlete is playing quarterback now.
• 50:30
Speaker 4: Before it wasn't like that. The quarterbacks of today would
• 50:33
Speaker 4: would be wide receivers and tight ends. And DB's right,
• 50:36
Speaker 4: so we've opened it up the athlete. So if I'm
• 50:39
Speaker 4: a high school and if I'm.
• 50:40
Speaker 6: Elite, if I have an elite athlete, I don't necessarily
• 50:44
Speaker 6: have to take him through all that because he's ever.
• 50:46
Speaker 6: He's able to make plays instinctually, right, he has the
• 50:49
Speaker 6: two's kind of naturally where I don't have to walk
• 50:52
Speaker 6: him through that whole mental process. But I think, but
• 50:56
Speaker 6: what I'm saying, no, no, But what I'm saying is
• 50:58
Speaker 6: like I think that's a call of the fault of
• 51:02
  Speaker 6: the development process.
• 51:04
Speaker 2: Still, you still should be doing that.
• 51:06
Speaker 4: Even though the kid is he could just go out
• 51:08
Speaker 4: and make plays and do all this stuff, you still
• 51:10
Speaker 4: that still has to be a part of the development process.
• 51:12
Speaker 5: They with that in college, like you can't skip there
• 51:17
Speaker 5: you can't skip it.
• 51:18
Speaker 4: And I think that's the part of the development process,
• 51:20
Speaker 4: is that that's being skipped because we just got this
• 51:23
Speaker 4: great after and and I and I really think that's
• 51:25
  Speaker 4: that's big in high school. That's what I'm going I'm
• 51:28
Speaker 4: saying high high school. And I would say college too. Yes,
• 51:30
Speaker 4: I think I think college because and again it's because
• 51:34
Speaker 4: to win and you and everybody wants to win. But
• 51:40
  Speaker 4: I think there's let's let's take out, let's take the
• 51:42
Speaker 4: time out to actually make sure we can we can
• 51:46
Speaker 4: we can actually teach our athletes, our student athletes, what
• 51:52
Speaker 4: what their job is as a whole at a position.
• 51:55
  Speaker 5: Fundamentals, the fundamentals.
• 51:57
Speaker 2: We can't. You can't skip by. You can't skip over
• 52:00
  Speaker 2: the fundamentals.
• 52:01
Speaker 4: And has said that's where we get lost when you
• 52:03
Speaker 4: start to talk travel ball, when you start to talk
• 52:06
Speaker 4: seven or seven, we are totally skipping over all that
• 52:09
Speaker 4: because it becomes just everybody. And again, yeah, because it's
• 52:12
Speaker 4: not systematic. You're having different coaches for all these different things,
• 52:16
Speaker 4: and it just becomes about winning all these different things.
• 52:19
Speaker 2: Nothing. Nothing. And I'm saying football wise, I'm strictly talking
• 52:23
Speaker 2: about football because I think other sports have it to
• 52:25
Speaker 2: a degree, but nothing about football in the early stages
• 52:29
Speaker 2: of it screams development. No, No, it's it's it's touchdowns
• 52:33
Speaker 2: and winning. So there.
• 52:35
  Speaker 4: So I'm a coach. I'm a I'm a travel football coach.
• 52:38
Speaker 4: And I'm sitting at a I'm sitting at a high school.
• 52:40
Speaker 4: I'm sitting at a youth basketball game, and I see
• 52:44
Speaker 4: this kid that's really athletic. He's got good feed, he
• 52:49
  Speaker 4: looks like he's quick, he's fast, he's he's all that.
• 52:52
Speaker 2: I'm thinking, hmmm, who's his mom? Mm hmmm, who's his dad.
• 52:57
Speaker 4: I'm gonna go talk to them and say, hey, you know,
• 52:59
Speaker 4: you think Donnie would like to play travel football. We
• 53:02
Speaker 4: got a position for him. He could play running back
• 53:05
Speaker 4: for us. I mean, he's got great feed. You know,
• 53:07
Speaker 4: he looks tough and all this kind of stuff. Really okay,
• 53:11
  Speaker 4: we'll do that.
• 53:12
  Speaker 3: So now.
• 53:14
Speaker 4: We're teaching him to play, how to take the handoff,
• 53:17
Speaker 4: and that's it, and now let his athleticism take over.
• 53:23
Speaker 4: You win a state championship, you win a national championship
• 53:26
Speaker 4: with this guy had handling this guy the ball. So,
• 53:32
Speaker 4: and what your sale is We got scouts. There are
• 53:36
Speaker 4: scouts at our games. There is no scout at a
• 53:40
Speaker 4: youth football travel game.
• 53:42
Speaker 6: I'm sorry, but I think it's just an example of
• 53:45
Speaker 6: us again we're just skipping the development process. And like
• 53:48
Speaker 6: I said, when you have all these young quarterbacks that
• 53:50
Speaker 6: there just named earlier and they're all being baster, all
• 53:53
Speaker 6: not performing well. Again, some of them are bad teams.
• 53:55
Speaker 6: There's other mitigating circumstances that would you know cause that.
• 53:59
Speaker 6: But in football, we are hurting because we have skipped
• 54:02
Speaker 6: the developmental process. Unlike baseball two degree even basketball, to
• 54:06
Speaker 6: agree sort of kept that. Soccer is definitely doing it well.
• 54:10
Speaker 4: I think I think the interesting thing about about basketball
• 54:16
Speaker 4: is you're you're literally doing that skill set. Everybody's doing
• 54:22
Speaker 4: kind of the same skill set. Everybody's got to dribble,
• 54:24
Speaker 4: everybody's got to shuffle, everybody's got.
• 54:27
Speaker 2: To do this, so you can kind of throw it
• 54:30
Speaker 2: all into one. Baseball is kind of the same thing.
• 54:32
Speaker 4: You gotta catch it, you gotta throw it, you gotta
• 54:33
Speaker 4: hit it, got to be able to recognize, you know,
• 54:37
Speaker 4: double plays and all those kinds of things.
• 54:39
Speaker 2: Football, it's so broad. You an individual. Yeah, I'm not
• 54:45
Speaker 2: doing anything remotely close to you. Now, I still gotta
• 54:48
Speaker 2: have feet. You still gotta have feet, but.
• 54:50
Speaker 4: But different skill sets. We're doing different skill set. That's
• 54:54
  Speaker 4: that's a good point.
• 54:54
Speaker 6: And I think that's that and that's what makes it
• 54:57
Speaker 6: tough because even like to foster that development, you need
• 55:00
Speaker 6: a whole bunch of coaches.
• 55:02
Speaker 2: You actually need about five year coaches. And and and
• 55:05
Speaker 2: I'm not going to say, I'm not going to say
• 55:07
Speaker 2: that you need a coach who's in that position. You
• 55:10
Speaker 2: just got to know more than your students. That's it, basically.
• 55:15
Speaker 5: And there's this thing called Google. So even if you.
• 55:17
Speaker 2: Don't I was talking about that earlier today.
• 55:23
  Speaker 5: Anybody could.
• 55:24
Speaker 7: I mean, I'm not saying anybody could be a coach,
• 55:26
Speaker 7: but if you're the only thing that those kids have,
• 55:29
Speaker 7: or you don't know much about it, you do some research.
• 55:32
Speaker 6: If you're a teachers, particularly if you have that skill,
• 55:34
Speaker 6: that that gift to teach, then to your point, you
• 55:37
Speaker 6: can do I had got I had.
• 55:39
Speaker 2: Gotten a text message from a from a former athlete.
• 55:43
Speaker 4: From the high school South Trust in high school and
• 55:45
Speaker 4: was asking if you know, I would be willing to
• 55:49
Speaker 4: to talk with with another kid who was playing you know,
• 55:53
Speaker 4: corner and was trying to learn corner. And I was like, yeah,
• 55:58
Speaker 4: you know, I sit down and talk to him. I
• 56:00
Speaker 4: work with him a little bit, you know, because to me,
• 56:04
Speaker 4: if you're asking, you know, then then you know you
• 56:09
Speaker 4: don't know right, you know, and I know somebody else
• 56:12
Speaker 4: is asking, But I'm sure what the case was. That
• 56:15
Speaker 4: dude said, I know, you know, I know, coach, he
• 56:17
Speaker 4: was here with me and blah blah blah blah. I'll
• 56:19
Speaker 4: give him a call and see, you know. Not Now
• 56:22
Speaker 4: there hasn't been a follow up with that, but I've
• 56:25
Speaker 4: already I've already talked to a couple of people, and
• 56:29
Speaker 4: you're you're actually on my list too, that h Hollis.
• 56:33
  Speaker 4: I think, I think there's a place for a DV
• 56:36
Speaker 4: camp here to work with DB's and and one of
• 56:44
Speaker 4: the things about that you sometimes you may need receivers,
• 56:47
Speaker 4: you may need quarterbacks, you know, and and not turning
• 56:50
Speaker 4: it into a seven on seven thing, but teaching.
• 56:55
Speaker 2: There's something I learned from Hollis being a quarterback.
• 56:57
Speaker 4: I can I can watch his movement if he gonna
• 57:00
Speaker 4: throw this type of past, what what's that look like?
• 57:03
Speaker 4: So show me that type of pass and understand, like
• 57:05
Speaker 4: I don't even have a problem with like things like
• 57:07
Speaker 4: seven h seven it's just it's just that, like everything
• 57:12
Speaker 4: can't be like competition. We want, we want to have competition,
• 57:16
Speaker 4: but we also need to take our time to pull
• 57:19
Speaker 4: development out of that. Right, so we can have a
• 57:21
Speaker 4: seven o seven, but let's let's take our time to teach,
• 57:24
Speaker 4: and let's correct when things aren't going right and actually
• 57:28
Speaker 4: teach along the way while we're actually doing this activity
• 57:30
  Speaker 4: and skill.
• 57:32
Speaker 2: But you know, part of part of that problem, part
• 57:35
Speaker 2: of that problem is.
• 57:37
Speaker 4: Is a lot of a lot of a lot of
• 57:41
Speaker 4: coaches using that word loosely okay, that are coaching. They
• 57:47
Speaker 4: don't know and even if they're going to look it
• 57:50
Speaker 4: up somewhere, it doesn't necessarily mean it works for that guy.
• 57:57
Speaker 4: Like because there's a kid who I can look at,
• 57:59
Speaker 4: I'm now he could probably play bump and run. I
• 58:02
Speaker 4: can look at another kid and say, But regardless of
• 58:05
Speaker 4: like how it actually plays out, I'm just saying, if
• 58:08
Speaker 4: we if we enter it with the mindset that hey,
• 58:11
Speaker 4: we like we're gonna do this seven on seven or
• 58:13
Speaker 4: whatever it is, and we are going to develop and
• 58:15
Speaker 4: teach along the way. So it's gonna be points where
• 58:18
Speaker 4: we stopped the drill, where we stop what we're doing
• 58:20
Speaker 4: and we're saying this and we're correct or do We're
• 58:23
Speaker 4: gonna do this and that. And I'm saying it's not
• 58:26
Speaker 4: always gonna start out smooth, but I'm saying, if that's
• 58:29
Speaker 4: the mindset moving forward and progressive, I think we can
• 58:32
Speaker 4: build development into what we're doing as opposed to it
• 58:36
Speaker 4: just being like sort of free for alls and it's
• 58:38
Speaker 4: just about competition all the time. And and and I'm
• 58:42
Speaker 4: gonna I'm gonna try to make this make sense. What
• 58:46
Speaker 4: what Hall is just saying is instead of saying you
• 58:53
Speaker 4: need to make that play, you need to explain to
• 58:56
Speaker 4: them how what went wrong and to flip that becomes developed,
• 59:04
Speaker 4: that becomes something that becomes conscious. In my mind, I
• 59:08
Speaker 4: don't know if we do that. I do think that
• 59:10
Speaker 4: we spend more time on just saying you got to
• 59:13
Speaker 4: make that play. Yeah, But I mean, well.
• 59:16
Speaker 7: That's true, and it comes full circle, doesn't it. Because
• 59:19
Speaker 7: we're talking about winning and the value of losing, and
• 59:22
Speaker 7: sometimes when you lose a game, you go back and
• 59:25
Speaker 7: you look at what happened, what was wrong, and that's
• 59:27
  Speaker 7: a that's a teachable moment, right You're learning new things
• 59:30
  Speaker 7: and teachable moments.
• 59:32
  Speaker 4: I guess that's what I'm that's the that's a perfect title,
• 59:36
Speaker 4: teachable moments, and I think that's what we're lacking. Like
• 59:38
Speaker 4: I said, I've seen middle school coaches, high school so
• 59:40
Speaker 4: spend so much time develop these sophisticated office but and
• 59:44
Speaker 4: again they're just teaching the offense and teaching the technical
• 59:47
Speaker 4: skills in order to execute set off. And at the
• 59:49
Speaker 4: younger level, there's no reason to yell at them and
• 59:51
Speaker 4: scream at them and talk about what they did or
• 59:54
Speaker 4: didn't do. Show them, show them, show them, tell them,
• 59:57
Speaker 4: tell them. Get the board, clipboard, this is show this
• 1:00:00
Speaker 4: is what you do. You should do it this way
• 1:00:02
Speaker 4: because maybe they just don't get it. And I'm guarantee
• 1:00:06
Speaker 4: they just don't get it. They don't know because maybe
• 1:00:08
Speaker 4: you can't reach his block because you're stepping wrong, or
• 1:00:11
Speaker 4: it could be really nuanced like that, and I think
• 1:00:13
Speaker 4: that's what we've been missing. And when you look at
