- 0:03Speaker 1: US correspondent seally, we're hearing reports of tornadoes as well.
- 0:08Speaker 2: That's right, Ryan. This is expected to be a really
- 0:10Speaker 2: serious situation hurtling towards the coast of Florida. Now it's
- 0:15Speaker 2: an extremely dangerous category for storm, and official state it
- 0:19Speaker 2: poses a serious threat to life. Storm Milton is expected
- 0:24Speaker 2: to make landfall tonight local time, so in the coming
- 0:27Speaker 2: hours and overnight, with winds of up to two hundred
- 0:30Speaker 2: and thirty three kilometers per hour. A tornado watch is
- 0:35Speaker 2: in effect across many of the cities in the southern
- 0:38Speaker 2: half of the Florida Peninsula, including many that you'll know
- 0:40Speaker 2: of Miami, Tampa Bay, and Fort Myers. It is expected
- 0:44Speaker 2: to weaken before it makes landfall, but it still could
- 0:48Speaker 2: be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for
- 0:51Speaker 2: the area.
- 0:51Speaker 3: People have been told to leave. We found the sky
- 0:54Speaker 3: on social media. Who seed roads are two blocked and busy.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Plus I might not get back home, so he's staying put. Hey, listen,
- 1:02Speaker 3: if things.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Do get really really bad, we lose electricity, or maybe
- 1:05Speaker 4: the roads are blocked or there's debris everywhere. Even if
- 1:08Speaker 4: we were to make it to Georgia, let's say it
- 1:10Speaker 4: could be weeks or maybe months before we able to
- 1:13Speaker 4: get back.
- 1:14Speaker 3: To our home.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Salia. People hating the warnings.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Well, he's one of many people trying to get to
- 1:20Speaker 2: nearby Georgia, trying to escape before the storm really hits them.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I want to stress the scale of these evacuations. Around
- 1:29Speaker 2: half of all the counties in Florida are now under
- 1:33Speaker 2: these orders. Florida Governor Ronda Santas says time is running
- 1:37Speaker 2: out for residents to evacuate and get out in time.
- 1:41Speaker 2: You need to remember that people are still reeling from
- 1:43Speaker 2: Hurricane Helene, which left at least two hundred and thirty
- 1:46Speaker 2: two people dead across six states, and that was very recent.
- 1:50Speaker 2: The mayor of Tampa says that was a wake up
- 1:53Speaker 2: call and she's warning locals if you choose to stay
- 1:56Speaker 2: in one of the evacuation areas, you are going to die.
- 2:00Speaker 2: But people might be trying to leave, but as you've
- 2:02Speaker 2: just heard, there it is choc a block on the
- 2:04Speaker 2: way out of those major cities. People are sat for
- 2:07Speaker 2: hours in traffic, many choosing to stay in their cars
- 2:10Speaker 2: and sleep there because they cannot get any further than
- 2:13Speaker 2: that would allow.
- 2:14Speaker 3: All right, thanks so much for your time. That great
