- 0:00Chapter 66 from the book of Isaiah.
- 0:04Let's first pray. Dear God, we're in our last
- 0:08chapter of Isaiah. Please give us wisdom and
- 0:12insight and touch our hearts with these words that you've
- 0:16given Isaiah. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
- 0:21This is called judgement and hope in my study Bible.
- 0:25This is what the Lord says. Heaven is my throne and the
- 0:29earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will
- 0:32build for me? Where will my resting place be?
- 0:36Has not my hand made all these things?
- 0:41And so they came into being, declares the Lord.
- 0:45These are the ones I look on with favor, those who are humble
- 0:51and contrite in spirit and who tremble at my word.
- 0:56It reminded me of the verse that says the fear of the Lord is the
- 1:00beginning of wisdom. It seems like we've somewhat as
- 1:04a, as a culture, as, as the world in general, not everybody,
- 1:10but we have kind of lost that fear of the Lord.
- 1:13And everybody likes to talk about the loving God.
- 1:18And then a lot of people talk about, well, the God of the Old
- 1:20Testament was really, you know, he was judgy or he was fierce or
- 1:26he was all these other things. But God hasn't changed.
- 1:31He's the same today as he was back then.
- 1:33And what people need to realize is that there is a coming
- 1:38judgement day. And it does say in Scripture
- 1:42that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of the of wisdom.
- 1:45When we understand that everything that that happens
- 1:52will come into judgement, that's going to create a fear.
- 1:55Don't you think? If there's a punishment that's
- 1:58understood that'll come from evil things, that maybe people
- 2:04would hold off on doing evil things or reconsider doing evil
- 2:07things. Well, I think the fear of the
- 2:09Lord brings that about. And people don't like to talk
- 2:13about that today for some reason.
- 2:14They just want to talk about a loving God, and he is a loving
- 2:18God, but he's also just. And in order to be just, evil
- 2:25must be eliminated and evil must be punished.
- 2:30So those who will will not turn to God, they they will not be in
- 2:36his Kingdom. So anyway, let's continue on
- 2:38with what scripture says. But this is another thing that's
- 2:42really interesting too. But whoever sacrifices a bull is
- 2:45like the one who kills a person. And whoever offers a lamb is
- 2:50like one who breaks a dog's neck.
- 2:53Whoever makes a grain offering is like one who presents pig's
- 2:57blood, and whoever burns memorial incense is like the one
- 3:02who worships an idol. They have chosen their own ways
- 3:06and they delight in their abominations.
- 3:09So I, I think what this is saying is that, you know, it did
- 3:13say that God said he doesn't like the sacrifices.
- 3:16The sacrifices that he allowed were not something that he
- 3:22desired his people to do. He gave it to them.
- 3:26He gave them that ability so that they could have a
- 3:29substitute for their own death. It was a substitute, but it
- 3:35seems like over time it really got out of control Where it was.
- 3:39Everybody was thinking that these sacrifices are what God
- 3:42wanted, but that's not what He wanted.
- 3:44He mentioned before in other chapters that he wanted justice
- 3:49served. He wanted people to take care of
- 3:51other people. Like there's all these loving
- 3:53things that God was looking for, but instead of people doing
- 3:56those loving things, they were doing all the sinful things and
- 4:00then thinking that they were good because they did the follow
- 4:03up sacrifices that were required.
- 4:06But that's not what God's after. He's after a righteous and he
- 4:10also says be holy because I am holy.
- 4:14So let's continue in here, he said.
- 4:18So he talks about all these sacrifices like he doesn't like
- 4:21this stuff. So I will choose harsh treatment
- 4:25for them and we'll bring on them what they dread for.
- 4:29When I called, no one answered. When I spoke, no one listened.
- 4:35I think we all need to think about that because if, if
- 4:39anybody's listening to this podcast, it's, it's because
- 4:43there is some interest in God. And, and so if God is calling
- 4:49you don't refuse him because he, he's very patient with us and he
- 4:57calls us and we ignore him a lot of times.
- 5:01And thankfully he's merciful and he's patient.
- 5:04But there is also a limit. And we don't know what God's
- 5:07limit is. And when we start pushing the
- 5:11limits, we don't, we really, if we think about it, we really
- 5:15don't want to push God past the limit where he just turns us
- 5:19over to our ways that are against him, our rebellious
- 5:23ways. We don't want to be eternally
- 5:26separated from God because that would that's basically what hell
- 5:33isn't even the right word, but it's the burning lake of of
- 5:36sulphur and the place of eternal torment.
- 5:41I mean, I think a lot of people don't even realize what this
- 5:45separation from God is going to be like.
- 5:48And no one, if they understood what it was, would want it,
- 5:52would desire it. I can't imagine because the
- 5:56people who are willingly wanting to rebel against God just don't
- 6:02really understand the consequences of what's going to
- 6:05happen and and that how serious it is.
- 6:09And I guess as time goes on, God's judgements are going to
- 6:14get worse and worse among all mankind so that people start
- 6:19seeing, OK, this is what's happening.
- 6:22I mean, right now we're seeing a lot of natural disasters in the
- 6:26world. I don't think these are.
- 6:29I don't think it's like just odd that these things are happening.
- 6:34I don't think it's just a coincidence.
- 6:35I think God is sending warnings to people that we need to repent
- 6:40and turn to him. Stop doing our sinful things
- 6:44that we know separate us from God and ask God for the Holy
- 6:50Spirit to help and guide us and teach us His ways.
- 6:54Teach us how to be what He created us to be.
- 6:57He had very good intentions and purpose and does have that for
- 7:01everyone. But we kind of get on our own
- 7:05path and do our own thing. And if we're just doing it on
- 7:10our own, it's so much less than what God could have done with us
- 7:16if we had just submitted to Him and done things His way.
- 7:20So it's just something over time, as I've read through
- 7:24Scripture, I realize this, going back to what Scripture says,
- 7:28they did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me.
- 7:33Again, this is no one can say that God sends them to hell
- 7:39because that's a consequence of choices, a consequence of
- 7:44choices people make. No one can blame God for doing
- 7:48that. We send ourselves to hell if we
- 7:51don't repent and turn to God. If we refuse God, if we deny
- 7:57Jesus, we send ourselves. It's the consequence of our
- 8:01decision. And the Bible tells us that.
- 8:04That's why it's so important to read.
- 8:05So you don't really know unless you read the Bible, how severe
- 8:11it is to make some of the choices that we make.
- 8:16And again, there is this evil spiritual force that's out there
- 8:21and Satan is behind it and he seeks to kill and destroy.
- 8:28He does not want mankind to inherit what God has in store
- 8:34for everyone. And a lot of people don't like
- 8:38to talk about that aspect of it, but if we understand that, then
- 8:44we know what kinds of influences are coming against us.
- 8:48And maybe, I don't know, if you just read the Bible, you will
- 8:53see all this stuff. So it says, hear, hear the word
- 8:57of the Lord. You who tremble at his word,
- 9:00your own people who hate you and exclude you because of my name
- 9:06have said, let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your
- 9:10joy. So this is something that Jesus
- 9:13said, he said a long time ago. He said it's documented by John
- 9:21in chapter 15 verse 18. If the world hates you, keep in
- 9:25mind that it hated me first. This is the Son of God saying,
- 9:32if the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
- 9:37And that's really what Isaiah is saying here.
- 9:40Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word.
- 9:44That's kind of the fear of God. Your own people who hate you and
- 9:51exclude you because of my name. Do you think they're excluding
- 9:56them because of the name of God? Perhaps, but also because of the
- 10:01name of Jesus. I mean, Jesus is the one common
- 10:05denominator when you find all the other religions, the denial
- 10:10of Jesus being the son of God, that's what differentiates
- 10:14Christianity from other religions.
- 10:17There's many other religions that acknowledge that Jesus did
- 10:21exist and they that he was a good person and that he was a
- 10:25prophet. There's a lot of religions that
- 10:28say all that, but they deny that he was the Son of God.
- 10:33And that denial of who he is, I mean, that's the hatred of him.
- 10:37That's why they wanted him crucified, because he was for
- 10:42blasphemy for saying that he was the Son of God.
- 10:45They didn't like that. But the thing about him being
- 10:49the Son of God is that's the only way that we actually get
- 10:54the inheritance that God has planned.
- 10:57We will be sisters and brothers to Jesus.
- 11:02And God has this inheritance that he is giving to all people
- 11:09who become, you know, we're all created by him but and he loves
- 11:15us, but we don't all love him. And those who love him will be
- 11:22willing to submit to what he he says is good and to leave behind
- 11:29what he says is not good. That we are kind of drawn to
- 11:33because we have this sinful nature.
- 11:35So anyway, it's there's, there's just, there's, there is.
- 11:39And there will be a separation of people.
- 11:42And Jesus is the one, you know, that Jesus is the one who gets
- 11:48mocked in a lot of comedy acts. I mean, it's just start paying
- 11:52attention to it. Music start look, seeing, you
- 11:57know, some of these musicians are actually mocking Jesus in
- 12:02their music videos. And and it's just you can see
- 12:07that this is all like from the enemy of God.
- 12:11Like who would do that? We wrestle not against flesh and
- 12:15blood like Paul says in Ephesians chapter 6.
- 12:18He talks about the spiritual entities in the heavenly realms,
- 12:22the evil forces. And don't be naive and think
- 12:28those forces are not at work in our world today and we see it
- 12:33manifested in people. Let the Lord be glorified so
- 12:39that we may see your joy, yet they will be put to shame.
- 12:42Hear that uproar from the city. Hear that noise from the temple.
- 12:47This maybe think about the temple that's referenced in the
- 12:51Book of Revelation during the wrath of God in Revelation
- 12:55chapter 16 verse one, it said then I heard a loud voice from
- 13:00the temple saying to the seven angels go pour out the seven
- 13:06bowls of God's wrath on the earth.
- 13:09So these, that's what you know this again, this chapter 66
- 13:15reminds me of the the last days. It is the sound of the Lord
- 13:22repaying his enemies all they deserve.
- 13:26See, I don't think this prophecy from Isaiah happened yet.
- 13:29I think this is the future now. This is another thing that's
- 13:33almost like a little bit of a puzzle, but it's very
- 13:35interesting. Before she goes into labor, she
- 13:39gives birth. Before the pains come upon her,
- 13:42she delivers a son. Who has ever heard of such
- 13:46things? Who has ever seen things like
- 13:48this? Can a country be born in a day
- 13:51or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
- 13:55Yet no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her
- 14:01children. So I want to go through that all
- 14:04again because a lot of people say this is about Israel
- 14:10becoming a nation in 1948. I've heard that a lot, but that
- 14:15doesn't really make sense. It makes more sense when you
- 14:18think about the end times and the birth pains that Jesus
- 14:22talked about. It'll be like at the end times
- 14:25will be like someone going into labor, like a woman going into
- 14:28labor. And that's what Jesus talked
- 14:30about is how the end times will be.
- 14:34So listen to what it says before she OK, so she we do know
- 14:40because it says in the later verse it says yet no sooner is
- 14:45Zion in labor. So Zion is like the heavenly
- 14:49Jerusalem, the holy Jerusalem. That's another name for
- 14:53Jerusalem. So no sooner is Jerusalem in
- 14:58labor than she gives birth to her children.
- 15:02So the she is basically we can say that's Jerusalem.
- 15:06So before Jerusalem goes into labor, she gives birth.
- 15:11So who does she give birth to? Well, it could be a lot of
- 15:14different things, but one person that comes to mind is Jesus,
- 15:19because he is a descendant from the tribe of Judah, and so she
- 15:27gives birth. Israel or Jerusalem gives birth.
- 15:33That's where Jesus comes into the picture.
- 15:36Before she goes into labor, she gives birth.
- 15:40You know, because usually you go into labor, then you give birth.
- 15:42But before she goes into labor, so before the end times happen,
- 15:47she gives birth. Jesus arrives before that,
- 15:52before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son.
- 15:57So she births a son. Well, who is that son?
- 16:01The Son of God, right? And it's before the pains of
- 16:06Labor come on. Like, so that's like the
- 16:10opposite, like there's a birth before the labor pains.
- 16:14And that's not the way things work, but that's the way God did
- 16:18it. And he, you know, this is like
- 16:20very, I don't know what the right word is, what I'm looking
- 16:26for, but the way that Scripture and prophecies are written,
- 16:31they're very symbolic. They're poetic, but they have
- 16:35this really deep meaning. And a lot of times we don't
- 16:38understand them until after the fact because you could make them
- 16:42because they're, they're somewhat vague.
- 16:44You can make them into a lot of things, but after they've
- 16:47happened, then you can look back on them.
- 16:48You're like, oh, wow, he said this from the very beginning.
- 16:51So again, here it is Jesus being talked about in chapter 66 of
- 16:56Isaiah. So who's ever heard of these
- 16:59things? You know, nobody has who has
- 17:01ever seen such things like this? Can a country be born in a day
- 17:04or a nation be brought forth in a moment?
- 17:09You know, God says when this comes about, it's going to come
- 17:12about quickly. And I don't think it's
- 17:16necessarily the nation of Israel from 1948.
- 17:20I think this is God's nation that he's bringing about and
- 17:25it'll come forth in a moment. Can a country be born in a day?
- 17:30I think, you know, this is when Israel's borders will be
- 17:33expanded, extended to where Jesus had, you know, are not the
- 17:41the Father had said that's there were certain borders for Israel
- 17:46and those are not what exists today.
- 17:48What God has planned is larger than what it is today.
- 17:53And honestly, I don't even know if that is ever going to happen.
- 17:58The whole earth may be destroyed.
- 18:00I'm not quite sure when the new heavens and the new earth come
- 18:03into play. I don't know if this whole earth
- 18:06gets destroyed or if during the thousand year reign of Christ
- 18:12there's a restoration of the earth and then the heavenly
- 18:17maybe. I think that's probably when it
- 18:19happens because it says that nothing, nothing, probably evil
- 18:24or no darkness will ever enter the city, the holy city of
- 18:28Jerusalem. So during the millennial
- 18:31Kingdom, there will be mortal and immortal people.
- 18:35There are still going to be people who die, but they're
- 18:37going to have much longer lifespans because in prior
- 18:40chapters that talked about people being 100 years old
- 18:44seeming like, you know, that was really, they were young.
- 18:48And so I think it's going to go back to the ages that were
- 18:51talked about in Genesis where people live TO600700800900
- 18:55years. And so there's going to be
- 18:59immortal and immortal people living here on Earth.
- 19:04And because there's the mortal people that are here, that means
- 19:10they can still sin. They can still choose sin.
- 19:13The final judgment doesn't happen until the end of the
- 19:16thousand years. So there's this, this other
- 19:23space of time, this other timeline of 1000 years before
- 19:28the final judgment happens. And the people who were
- 19:32rebellious to God, who rejected God, they will stay asleep until
- 19:39that thousand years are over. They don't rise.
- 19:42It tells us in the Book of Revelation that they don't, they
- 19:46don't rise until the end of that time period.
- 19:49So they are still what the Bible calls, they are still asleep.
- 19:53They are in some like holding place until these thousand years
- 19:57are ended. And then the people who didn't
- 20:00like God, they will rise also. There's going to be a final
- 20:05resurrection and that will be when the the final judgement
- 20:10happens of all people. So anyway, he's.
- 20:15It says do I bring to the moment of birth and not give delivery?
- 20:20Says the Lord. Do I close up the womb when I
- 20:23bring, when I bring to delivery, says your God, rejoice with
- 20:29Jerusalem and be glad for her all you who love her.
- 20:34I think especially today, 2025, we need to pay attention all
- 20:39this is about Jerusalem and be glad for her, all you who love
- 20:44her. So.
- 20:46I think this whole thing about anti-Semitism is very dangerous.
- 20:52When God has chosen Israel and you know all you, the people who
- 21:00are rejoicing are all of you who love her.
- 21:04So does that mean that the ones who are, who don't love
- 21:08Jerusalem, who don't love Israel, are going to experience
- 21:13God's wrath? You might want to think about it
- 21:16because like unforgiveness is something that does separate us
- 21:19from God. And it says all you who love her
- 21:23rejoice greatly with her, all you who all you who mourn over
- 21:29her. For you will nurse and be
- 21:32satisfied at her comforting breast.
- 21:34You will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing
- 21:37abundance. For this is what the Lord says,
- 21:41I will extend peace to her like a river and the wealth of the
- 21:48nations, like a flooding stream. So this again is in the future
- 21:54because there will be no peace. Because the last thing that they
- 21:58say is when they say there, when they say peace and safety or
- 22:03peace and security, then will come sudden destruction.
- 22:08So we are not going to have peace.
- 22:10Jesus said war will continue. Wars and rumors of wars will
- 22:16continue until the very end. So we're not going to have peace
- 22:21until Jesus returns. And there's going to be this
- 22:24like false Messiah that comes too, that probably promises
- 22:28peace. So people will be deceived.
- 22:32But it's when there's true peace.
- 22:36It's not going to be until after Jesus returns.
- 22:41So anyway, it says you will nurse and be carried on her arm
- 22:44and and dandled on her knees as a mother comforts her child.
- 22:50So I will comfort you and you will be comforted over
- 22:55Jerusalem. This reminded me when I read
- 22:58that of what Jesus said when he entered into Jerusalem in
- 23:03Matthew chapter 23 verse 37 and in Luke chapter 13 verse 34.
- 23:10They both give the account of this says Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
- 23:16you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you.
- 23:21How often I have longed to gather your children together as
- 23:27a hen gathers her chicks under her wings.
- 23:33And you were not willing. This is again that refusal of
- 23:39God's call. You know that Isaiah talked
- 23:42about in verse 4 where it said, For when I called no one
- 23:47answered, when I spoke no one listened.
- 23:52And Jesus was saying this as he rode into the city of Jerusalem.
- 24:00He had compassion and he wanted to be this protective hen
- 24:04gathering her chicks under her wings.
- 24:07But they weren't willing. They didn't want that.
- 24:11And but then he does. He does say, as a mother
- 24:16comforts her child, so I will comfort you.
- 24:20So doesn't that that reflects Jesus and the Father and Jesus
- 24:25said like the words that came out of his mouth were basically
- 24:28a reflection of the he was a reflection of the Father.
- 24:32So whatever came out of his mouth was from the Father.
- 24:34He said He only spoke what the Father said.
- 24:40When you see this, your heart will rejoice and you will
- 24:43flourish like grass. The hand of the Lord will be
- 24:47made known to his servants, but his fury will be shown to his
- 24:54foes. See the Lord is coming with
- 24:57fire, and his Chariots are like a whirlwind.
- 25:01So again, the when Jesus arrives, it's which I believe
- 25:08it's going to be during the 6th seal and it says like in the 6th
- 25:14seal in Revelation chapter 6 verse 12.
- 25:17I watched as he opened the 6th seal.
- 25:21There was a great earthquake, the sun turned black like
- 25:25sackcloth made of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red,
- 25:31and the stars in the sky fell to the earth as figs drop from a
- 25:36fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.
- 25:40The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and
- 25:43every mountain and island was removed from its place.
- 25:46Then the kings of the earth, the Princess, the generals, the
- 25:49rich, the mighty, and everyone else both slave and free, hid in
- 25:54caves and among the rocks of the mountains.
- 25:57They called to the mountains in the rocks fall on us, and hide
- 26:01us from the face of Him who sits on the throne, and from the
- 26:06wrath of the Lamb. For the great day of their wrath
- 26:10has come and who can withstand it?
- 26:13So there's also parts about Jesus, the Son of man coming on
- 26:19the clouds and everyone will see that.
- 26:23And again, you know, like this said the all people are wanting
- 26:30to hide because they know what's coming.
- 26:33They know what's happening at this point.
- 26:36It's not taking them by surprise because they've heard it,
- 26:43they've just rejected it. So then this whole description
- 26:50of a whirlwind I thought was really interesting because if
- 26:53you haven't heard this yet, there are so many people in the
- 26:58last several years all over the world having dreams about end
- 27:04time type things. And it's just a couple years
- 27:11ago, I don't know. I, I started having dreams
- 27:13myself and they've slowed down a little bit, but they were 21 and
- 27:1922. I think 22 was a lot of them.
- 27:22And there was many people, I didn't have one of these dreams,
- 27:29but many people were dreaming about tsunamis.
- 27:33And and I always thought that's not in the Bible, like where is
- 27:37that coming from? And they were just talking about
- 27:38these destruction that were these tsunamis that were going
- 27:41to happen. And I was like, you know, you
- 27:43always check with the dreams, like do they match up?
- 27:45What's in Scripture? And is it somebody's, you know,
- 27:49imagination or is it really from God?
- 27:51And you know, but so then you know, when, as I'm reading this,
- 27:57I'm thinking about, they talk about these whirlwinds.
- 28:01And when you look up whirlwinds and you see how often that is
- 28:07being used, it's, it's really insightful, I would say because
- 28:13whirlwind, I don't know if I, I need to actually search for that
- 28:19again, because I kind of dug deep into it and got off the
- 28:25initial search. But so this is interesting where
- 28:31it it occurs 13 times in the New International Version.
- 28:36So in second Kings chapter 2 verse one, it says when the Lord
- 28:40was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah
- 28:47and Elijah were on their way from Gilgal.
- 28:52As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a
- 28:56chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the
- 29:03two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind.
- 29:10So this is like the whole thing. If you read in second Kings
- 29:15chapter 2, read about Elijah being taken up to heaven and
- 29:20notice some things about that story.
- 29:22There were people that were talking to Elijah, who is his, I
- 29:27guess, prodigy or the the person who came after him, you know,
- 29:31who is kind of going to replace him or I don't know, was the
- 29:38second one in line, but people were coming up to him saying, do
- 29:42you know that Elijah's going to be taken?
- 29:44Like people knew this. There were and people saw this
- 29:48like there were, I think hundreds of people who witnessed
- 29:52Elijah going up into this whirlwind.
- 29:56And but they knew in advance it wasn't like a tornado came along
- 30:01and took this person's life. And then everybody said, oh,
- 30:06that was God. You know, that's not what
- 30:07happened. These people knew about this.
- 30:11They were telling Elijah, I mean, it was a it was a known
- 30:14fact that this was going to happen on this day, which I find
- 30:18really interesting because Elijah didn't experience a
- 30:23normal death. He was taken up.
- 30:26It was so he was one that really didn't experience a death.
- 30:31I mean, it's just a very different kind of a description
- 30:35of when he goes away. And it was like he, it was
- 30:39known. It wasn't like just symbolic.
- 30:42He was walking along and they kind of made a deal like Elijah
- 30:47told Elijah, if you see this happening because Elijah asked
- 30:52him for like double the power or double the the Holy Spirit that
- 30:57Elijah had. And Elijah basically told him if
- 31:01you see this happen, then you will receive that or something.
- 31:07And I don't know, maybe because he trusted that God would either
- 31:10let Elijah see it or he won't. And so anyway, Elijah did get
- 31:18double the power of the Holy Spirit when Elijah went up to
- 31:22the heaven. So it's just read it in detail
- 31:26because it's very interesting. And but anyway, these
- 31:31whirlwinds, I, you know, there, there are sometimes literal
- 31:35things and then there's sometimes metaphors are
- 31:39metaphors for or symbols for something.
- 31:43And so, and sometimes they can be both, they can be a literal
- 31:49and also have a symbolic meaning.
- 31:51And so anyway, when other people today start having dreams about
- 31:55tsunamis, you know, maybe it's a literal one that could come.
- 32:00Maybe they are seeing having prophetic dreams, and maybe it's
- 32:06symbolic. And maybe that whirlwind is
- 32:09also, you know, part of God's judgement.
- 32:12And because it does in Scripture also says like like a whirlwind,
- 32:17like in Proverbs 127 when calamity overtakes you like a
- 32:24storm. So it's not a storm that's
- 32:26happening, but calamity. And it's like a storm when
- 32:29disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and
- 32:35trouble overwhelm you. And it continues so.
- 32:40And then in Isaiah chapter 5, their arrows are sharp, their
- 32:44bows are strong, their horse's hoof seems like flit, their
- 32:46chariot wheels like a roll. And that's just describing, you
- 32:49know, like, I guess a fast moving wheel.
- 32:52So it can be descriptive, picturesque to give us a
- 32:58meaning. But then there's just times
- 33:00where it you know, it might be both symbolic and literal.
- 33:06So it says, see, the Lord is coming with fire.
- 33:09This is in this chapter. And his Chariots are like a
- 33:13whirlwind. He will bring down his anger
- 33:16with fury and his rebuke with flames of fire.
- 33:21Now, when God was, when he met with Moses at Mount Sinai, it
- 33:29said, you know, there was like a like fire and smoke and fire on
- 33:35the mountain and nobody could get near it or they, they could
- 33:39die. And God said this is holy.
- 33:41He told them, you know, what they need to do to do to prepare
- 33:45and also warned them, don't touch it because sinfulness
- 33:48cannot be in the presence of holy.
- 33:50I mean, that's the conclusion that I came about after reading
- 33:55the Bible is that, you know, that's part of what God's, you
- 33:59know, God was originally walking with Adam and Eve here on earth,
- 34:05but then after the sin came about, he was no longer walking
- 34:09around with them. And it just seems like God's
- 34:13presence, you know, was, was removed once people made the
- 34:18choice for sin. And the only way that this could
- 34:23be restored was through Jesus coming to earth, being the Son
- 34:26of God, you know, having the Holy Spirit, being conceived by
- 34:30the Holy Spirit so that he was sinless and he was God.
- 34:35And he died on the cross and gave his life as a substitute
- 34:39sacrifice for all of us so that it was meaningful enough and
- 34:43important enough and valuable enough that it covers all
- 34:47people. So it really is important to
- 34:51understand what Jesus's death on the cross means to every single
- 34:56one of us. Without that event happening, we
- 35:00could not make it into God's Kingdom.
- 35:05We could not inherit the in Kingdom because we can't get rid
- 35:08of our sin. It's it's like permanent for us
- 35:12until God himself takes it away from us.
- 35:19So then in Jeremiah he's another prophet and he talks about this
- 35:23too. He says, look, he advances like
- 35:25the clouds, his Chariots come like a whirlwind, His horse is
- 35:28swifter than eagles. Woe to us, we are ruined.
- 35:32And then he also says, see, the storm of the Lord will burst out
- 35:36in wrath, A whirlwind swirling down on the heads of the wicked.
- 35:41Hosea talks about a whirlwind will sweep them away and their
- 35:44sacrifices will bring them shame.
- 35:47That's very similar to what Isaiah was saying about how he
- 35:49didn't like all the sacrifices. And then Hosea's talking about a
- 35:53whirlwind. They sow the wind and reap the
- 35:58whirlwind. The stock has no head.
- 36:00It will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain,
- 36:04foreigners will swallow it up. And then Nehemiah Arnahum says
- 36:13the Lord is slow to anger but great in power.
- 36:16The Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.
- 36:21His way is in the whirlwind, and the storm and clouds are the
- 36:28dust of his feet. So of course that's kind of a
- 36:32metaphor. But could God actually use a
- 36:37whirlwind, a hurricane, or a tornado and a storm to bring
- 36:45about punishment, bring about justice?
- 36:50Very well. He could very well do that, and
- 36:52I believe He does do that in Zechariah it says I scattered
- 36:57them with the whirlwind among all the nations where they were
- 37:00strangers. The land they left behind was so
- 37:03desolate that no one travelled through it.
- 37:05This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.
- 37:10So that is also, I think, more symbolic in that part.
- 37:15But it's just interesting that the return of the Lord does talk
- 37:19about a whirlwind and and then people, you know, having those
- 37:22kinds of dreams is kind of interesting.
- 37:25So I'll continue with what Scripture says.
- 37:27He will bring down his anger with fury and his rebuke with
- 37:30flames of fire. For with fire and with his
- 37:34sword, the Lord will execute judgement on all people.
- 37:40This is justice and many will be those slain by the Lord.
- 37:47So the Lord is going to this is like when you know, it says
- 37:51leave it to me or the vengeance is mine.
- 37:54This is when God's vengeance comes out, like all the things
- 37:57that were never justified, all the wrongs that had not been
- 38:02dealt with, are going to be dealt with during this time.
- 38:07Those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the
- 38:11gardens, following the one who is among those who eat the flesh
- 38:16of pigs, rats and other unclean things, they will meet their end
- 38:21together with the one they follow, declares the Lord.
- 38:26I don't know if this is going to be like a false Messiah.
- 38:29Is this going to be the lawless 1?
- 38:31Is this some other like idolatrous, you know, fake God
- 38:36that people follow? I'm not sure, but it's talking
- 38:39about those who consecrate and purify themselves to go into the
- 38:45garden. So if this is future prophecy,
- 38:47we should probably remember this first because if we see people
- 38:51consecrating and purifying themselves to go into some
- 38:54garden and then there's one who's among them who eats pigs,
- 38:59rats and other clean, unclean things, that's just something to
- 39:04pay attention to because that's we'll know that it's prophecy
- 39:08when that happens. They will meet their end
- 39:11together with the one that they follow.
- 39:15Then it continues on and I, because of what they have
- 39:19planned and done, am about to come and gather the people of
- 39:25all nations and languages, and they will come and see my glory.
- 39:31I think this might be another the resurrection or what people
- 39:35call the rapture too. And that's when God says, you
- 39:39know, and I because of what they have planned and done.
- 39:46So they have something future planned and God knows everything
- 39:50that's going on and it's also what they have done.
- 39:54He says he's about to come and gather the people of all nations
- 40:00and languages and they will come and see my glory again.
- 40:05The Son of Man coming on the clouds.
- 40:09I will set a sign among them, and I will send some of those
- 40:14who survive to the nations, to Tarshish, to the Libyans, to the
- 40:19Lydians famous as Archers, to Tubal in Greece, and to those
- 40:23distant islands that have not heard of my fame or seen my
- 40:27glory. They will proclaim my glory
- 40:30among the nations. I don't know if this is like I
- 40:36don't know at what point this is because sometimes prophecies can
- 40:41have near future and then long term future prophecies in there.
- 40:47I mean, this is, is this like spreading the gospel that you
- 40:50know, after Jesus sent out his disciples where they are going
- 40:55to proclaim the glory among the nations and they will bring all
- 40:59your people from all the nations to my holy mountain in Jerusalem
- 41:05as an offering to the Lord on horses, in Chariots and wagons,
- 41:09on mules and camels, said the Lord.
- 41:12They will bring them as the Israelites bring their grain
- 41:15offerings to the temple of the Lord in ceremonial clean
- 41:20vessels, and I will select some of them also to be priests and
- 41:25Levites, said the Lord. Now this hasn't happened because
- 41:32God had already established the Levites as the the service
- 41:36providers for the the temple and the descendants of Aaron were
- 41:41the priests. And so now he's talking about I
- 41:44will select some of them also to be priests and Levites.
- 41:49And this is talking about all nations.
- 41:51You know, this is going to be AII do believe this might be
- 41:55during the millennial reign of Christ because there will be a
- 41:59third temple during that time frame.
- 42:02And apparently that all of us, I forgot which prophet said it,
- 42:07but we will all be going to celebrate the Feast of
- 42:12Tabernacles during the Millennium.
- 42:14And anybody who doesn't go up there won't have rain.
- 42:17That's going to be a consequence of not going to the temple to
- 42:21celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
- 42:24So just very interesting time. But there is going to be a third
- 42:27temple. And if you don't know that
- 42:29already, it's there are plans that are already drawn up.
- 42:33They're just waiting for government approval.
- 42:35There's actually been signage that's been placed in Jerusalem
- 42:38now. And there's some who have also
- 42:42said that October 7th was also to stop that process by from
- 42:47happening. So we're in 2025 and we're
- 42:50certainly seeing a lot of prophetic things unfolding.
- 42:54So keep watch for the Middle East and pay attention.
- 42:58The month of September is always a very interesting month to
- 43:02watch because of so much significance in Jewish history,
- 43:07Jewish customs, traditions, festivals, things like that.
- 43:12September and October are definitely months to be
- 43:16watchful. So then in verse 22 it says as
- 43:21the new heavens and the new earth that I make will endure
- 43:25before me. So again there's that new heaven
- 43:28and new earth that's talked about in Revelation chapter 21
- 43:31and 22, I believe declares the Lord.
- 43:35So will your name and descendants endure from one new
- 43:39moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another.
- 43:43All mankind will come and bow down before me, says the Lord.
- 43:49Well, this hasn't happened yet, and the Lord isn't present
- 43:53currently, but He will be. And they will go out and look on
- 43:59the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me.
- 44:04The worms that eat them will not die.
- 44:08The fire that burns them will not be quenched and it will be
- 44:13loathsome to all mankind. I think we need to really
- 44:20understand how critical it is to what the consequence is for
- 44:26rebelling against God and not make light of it because I don't
- 44:33think any person would choose this.
- 44:35But yet some are. And and I guess the ones who
- 44:39mock and say this isn't going to happen, this isn't going to be
- 44:41true. They will see one day that it is
- 44:44true again. The fear of the Lord is the
- 44:47beginning of wisdom. So we have finished the book of
- 44:52Isaiah. So we are going to be moving on
- 44:54to another prophetic book in the order of when they did their
- 44:58prophecy. And before I end this chapter, I
- 45:01will read what's in the study Bible for the questions and
- 45:04answers. So we'll get started on that now
- 45:06and then wrap up. So why did Isaiah criticize
- 45:10sacrifices? Isaiah seems to have carefully
- 45:13chosen his words for their shock value.
- 45:16The most sacred exercises of true God-given religion are like
- 45:22the worst sins when they are divorced from humility of
- 45:28spirit. One of the themes of the
- 45:31prophets was that God detests human efforts to please Him by
- 45:37keeping ritual laws without respecting his moral laws.
- 45:44People without integrity are not genuinely religious when they
- 45:49perform rituals. They are merely superstitious.
- 45:56So there's a big difference between doing something, you
- 45:59know, heartfelt, and doing something like a robot.
- 46:04So why talk about Zion giving birth?
- 46:06Isaiah uses a metaphor of Zion or Jerusalem as a metaphor to
- 46:11express express both sorrow and loss, and here hope and
- 46:18blessing. The emphasis in this passage is
- 46:21on how how quickly and effortlessly Zion gives birth to
- 46:27her children. We can't be certain if the
- 46:30prophet had a particular invent in in mind.
- 46:33He may have been referring to anything from the return from
- 46:37Babylon, the rebirth of Israel to the day of Pentecost, the
- 46:41birth of the Church and the second coming of Christ.
- 46:45The birth of the people, forever liberated from the curse of sin
- 46:51could mean all those things. So unclean things.
- 46:56These are similar to the things listed in chapter 65, verses 3
- 47:01and 4, the detestable things associated with idol worship,
- 47:04superstition and immorality. Where were Tarshish, Libya,
- 47:10Lydia, and Tubal? Tarshish was probably in
- 47:14southern Spain. Libya was West of Egypt in North
- 47:19Africa. Lydia was in western Asia Minor,
- 47:24modern modern western Turkey. Tubal was in eastern Asia Minor
- 47:31near the Black Sea and what is today northeastern Turkey.
- 47:37These, together with Greece and the distant islands, represent
- 47:41the farthest reaches of the earth.
- 47:43The point being that God will send out His missionaries to all
- 47:48the world with the news of His glory.
- 47:51Who were these priests and Levites?
- 47:53Some say these were Jews brought by the Gentiles as an offering
- 47:57to the Lord. Others say these were Gentiles
- 48:00who brought those Jews. Perhaps a picture of the largely
- 48:04Gentile church leading Jewish people to faith in Christ, an
- 48:09ancient Israel. Only male Levites descended from
- 48:14Aaron could be priests, but God promised that one day all could
- 48:19become priests. Today all who trust in Christ
- 48:23are priests who can come directly to the Lord.
- 48:28What does? The worms will not die and the
- 48:31fire will not be quenched mean. Jesus quoted this in Mark
- 48:35Chapter 9 verse 48 as a reference to hell.
- 48:39And they will go out may mean going outside Jerusalem to the
- 48:44city dump where decay was continuously in process and
- 48:49fires were continually smoldering.
- 48:52This dump became a picture of hell.
- 48:55The images of the worms not dying and the fire not being
- 48:59quenched are Isaiah's way of saying that as worship of
- 49:04believers is everlasting, so is the punishment of those who
- 49:09rebelled against God. Why does the book of Isaiah end
- 49:12on such a negative note? As Isaiah 55 chapter 55 verse 6
- 49:19says, seek the Lord while he may be found.
- 49:23The ending is a realistic, sober look at what a terrible mistake
- 49:29it is for people to reject God's offer of eternal life.
- 49:35The worms that eat them will not die.
- 49:37The fire that burns them will not be quenched is a symbolic
- 49:41way of saying that there will be no chance to turn back from this
- 49:47fate. Worms and fire are agents of
- 49:50destruction. Those who show no interest in
- 49:53eternal life will not be forced to receive it.
- 49:58How will God judge the world? For Isaiah and other Testament
- 50:03prophets, God was clearly a God of both judgement and salvation.
- 50:09They knew nothing of salvation that did did not involve
- 50:14judgment. In fact, they saw God's judgment
- 50:17as a sign that He cared enough to save his people.
- 50:21The Bible describes judgment for sin in various ways.
- 50:26It is a place of fire in Mark Chapter 9 and darkness in
- 50:32Matthew chapter 8. It is a sentence pronounced by
- 50:36the righteous judge in Matthew 25 through 33.
- 50:42It is harvesting what you have sown in Galatians chapter 6.
- 50:48It is a separation from God in Matthew Chapter 7.
- 50:52Isaiah 6615 through 16 pictures God as a mighty warrior riding a
- 50:59chariot and destroying his enemies with fire and a sword.
- 51:04The message is clear. God does not ignore sinners, He
- 51:10punishes them. Isaiah 6615 through 16 surely
- 51:15refers to the final judgement of God at the end of the world,
- 51:21when sinners will be separated from God in hell.
- 51:26But it may also point to a cycle of judgment that continues
- 51:30throughout history. Nations fall from power defeated
- 51:34in their injustices. God's judgment in both instances
- 51:39is shown to be devastating. And that ends the book of
- 51:43Isaiah. Hope you come back for the next
- 51:46prophet that we read about.
