- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Dog's Podcast with your hosts, Lake Renaker, Justin Charles, and Josh All.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, what's up, Browns fans?
- 0:19[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome back to another episode of The Dogs, podcast, Josh, all your host here.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_03]: If everybody's having a great weekend, if you can see if you're watching the video here, I'm obviously in my new home studio.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_03]: We made the move.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_03]: We finally moved into the new home.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_03]: And it is chaos.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_03]: If you've ever moved before, which I'm sure most of you have probably multiple times, you know how hectic it can be.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_03]: especially with two young kids.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_03]: It's just been nuts.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_03]: So if there's like an echo here, it's because this room is like twice the size of the little closet room I was recording in before the previous house.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_03]: So there isn't echo.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_03]: I've got sound panels coming.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_03]: I've got my studio set planned out mapped out.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to be building that here shortly, but right now you get just me and my blank just grayish background wall, whatever you're looking at here.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_03]: So that's what's going on here.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I know that the last couple weeks have been insane, especially for me and doing the podcast and everything I was.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_03]: really, really sick for like a week and a half or so, and then that overlapped with the move over here, trying to get everything set up, so it's been crazy.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm glad to be back with you guys here today, and I'm talking today about the NFL combine, all the news, the notes, the rumors, and things that have come out from Indianapolis.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_03]: And there's a lot that pertains to the brown, so we're going to dive into those things.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: couple NFL notes here and there and then we're going to dive into also at the end of this.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_03]: Those NFLPA report cards.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, though the report cards that the NFL owners said, nope, we don't want those disclosed anymore.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: We don't want those made public.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I guess what they've been made public.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to talk about how the Browns created out on their NFLPA report card for the 2025 season.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_03]: And then we got a couple of voice
- 2:13[SPEAKER_03]: another message from our favorite villain Vinty.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: He's back.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_03]: I'll read that message.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_03]: We'll break it all down.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you guys for bearing with me as we transition here into this new studio and everything else and I will get everything.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_03]: All the kings worked out and everything set up.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_03]: But for now, let's just dive into these combine news and notes.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so the first, actually really the bulk of what I want to talk about here today comes from Jared Moller.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_03]: He does this every season.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: He's from dogsbynature.com.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: Same outlet as Barry Shucks.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: If you guys want to go follow them, check them out.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_03]: They do a lot of great work over there on that website.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_03]: Jared Moller does this every year from the combine.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_03]: He really does a good job laying out his findings from the NFL combine, who he's talking to.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_03]: What he's heard from around
- 3:04[SPEAKER_03]: So what, let's just start here at the top.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: He says, first of all, the NFL is even lower on this quarterback draft class than the fans and the media are.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_03]: He says, Ty Simpson, the Alabama quarterback, could be a first round pick.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_03]: But he had multiple people tell him that
- 3:23[SPEAKER_03]: If teams are disciplined to their draft boards, Tyson Simpson is more likely to be selected mid to late second round.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see how that goes.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's a good chance, obviously, the Tyson Simpson goes in the first round.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think, you know, we, we have seen that kind of stuff happen in weak draft class.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_03]: They're quarter-backed draft classes in the past.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_03]: Can you pick it being a very good example for the Steelers back in, whatever year that was 2021 to, I forget.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_03]: He goes on his next note, quarterback from Penn State Drew Aller.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_03]: He says, will probably go higher in the draft than you think.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_03]: He says, Drew Aller is the outlier with size, athleticism, work ethic, and some built-in James Franklin excuses.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_03]: Currently, Aller is projected as a fourth round pick at mock draft database that is a far drop from many believing he would compete to be the first pick in the draft when he decided to return to school ahead of the 2025 season.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_03]: His injury and struggles in the field are notable, but team CA quarterback with a lot of upside, moxie and room to grow.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_03]: He says barring poor performances before the 2026 NFL draft or bad news around the medical front, Jared Mueller would put the floor on Drew Aller at very high, being drafted very high in the third round with the second round, being the most likely spot.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: at this point.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_03]: So Drew Aller could end up being a high-third round maybe a second round pick according to what Mueller is seeing and hearing in Indianapolis.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: So that's interesting.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_03]: We've talked on this show before like, you know, would it be worth a flyer for the Browns to use a fifth round pick or even a fourth round pick on Drew Aller and it's like maybe,
- 5:05[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe I'm not big, I don't, I'm not really excited to use these later mid to late round picks on quarterbacks anymore, because it just doesn't work out.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_03]: It really just doesn't pan out.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_03]: We just did that last year twice, but we used two of those picks in 2025 on quarterbacks.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: One of them actually looks like he could develop into a legitimate NFL starter, which that's being Shador Sanders obviously, not Dylan Gabriel.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_03]: So what are we doing here?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_03]: Why we have so many needs and holes to fill on this roster?
- 5:35[SPEAKER_03]: Don't waste a mid-round pick where you could get a good depth piece at a position we really need players.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't understand the swing on these mid-round quarterbacks, but I get the true allure is enticing, as far as the measurables and the intangibles and things like that.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_03]: So something to keep an eye on.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_03]: Jared Mueller goes on, he says there's going to be a little bit more separation of church and state for the Browns at GM and head coach.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_03]: He says it was notable how Andrew Barry spoke about, quote, monk, meaning Todd Munkin.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't a big statement or anything, but just a clearer delineation of front office and coaching than we heard from Barry during Kevin's defense.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: He's time with the team.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_03]: He says a lot less we and collaboration language and a lot more seemingly defined roles.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_03]: between the two positions.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, we had that mind meld between Andrew Barry and Kevin Safanski and everything was a collaboration.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: We make all our decisions together, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_03]: For what I'm hearing and reading from Indianapolis and Todd Munkin, meeting with people and media getting a better feel for him as the head coach, he's not going to be the type of guy to just kind of go in front of the media and just say what he's been told to say or just
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Do the coach speaks stuff like he's gonna be more real.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna be more open and honest and whether that ends up being a good thing or it ends up being a complete disaster I guess we will just have to wait and see how it plays out because sometimes that works well Sometimes it doesn't especially if you're not winning ball games you you can kind of take those things the wrong way So we'll see how the Relationship here between Barry and Todd Munkin ends up playing out over the course of the year and all that kind of stuff
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: So the next note here, this is where things start to get interesting, very interesting.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: Andrew Barry is obviously, I mean, does this every year all the time, but notably exploring trade options, notably for wider receivers.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: So this is where the Browns, obviously, we know this wider receiver offensive line.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: you mungous deficits at those positions.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_03]: So Andrew Barry is looking into potentially available wider severs.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_03]: Jared Muller notes that while fans are lower on Andrew Barry due to the poor results on the field, which is understandable and absolutely valid.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_03]: The Browns general manager is highly respected around the league due to his process, including being very straightforward about his discussion, price points and his desires.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_03]: He's also considered persistent and resilient in that he will revisit trade ideas from the previous trade deadline just a few months later to see if they can still happen.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_03]: One of those examples Jared Mueller notes here about Barry returning to trade talks is with the Saints.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_03]: about Widersever, Chris Olave.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_03]: Andrew Barry has also discussed trading from Marvin Harris and Jr. from the Arizona Cardinals.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_03]: So two former Buckeye first rounders in trade talks with the Browns.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_03]: Now that Marvin Harris and Jr.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_03]: trade reports or, you know, the fact that the Browns have inquired with the Cardinals about him, that got some smoke.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_03]: That got some good smoke rolling on social media over the weekend, but I read a tweet from Benjamin Allbright and he said that the Browns have indeed spoken with the Arizona Cardinals about the availability of Marvin Harrison Jr., but the discussions really didn't go anywhere.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_03]: So, it sounds like the Cardinals are a little bit more steadfast in keeping Marvin Harrison, which I totally understand.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: I would be too.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I want him and the reasons why I want Marvin Harrison Jr. the same reasons why the Cardinals want Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: But.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_03]: That doesn't mean that this whole thing with MHJ is dead in the water just means, you know, first of all, Mueller just reported I just talked about how persistent and generic can be.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_03]: So I would imagine the Browns are going to continue to monitor the situation.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_03]: They're going to keep, you know, communication lines open with the Cardinals about Marvin Harrison and hopefully,
- 9:49[SPEAKER_03]: something can transpire in a trade for that player right there are now moving on to another position obviously in a player that I've talked extensively about on the show there is at least a 14 fight two acquire center Tyler Lindervom the former center of the Baltimore Ravens now reportedly the Ravens have offered him a very lucrative deal to stay in Baltimore I think that he is
- 10:19[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to know where I stand, my gut feeling is that Tyler Linder Bomb will end up re-signing with the Baltimore Ravens.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel like that's the most likely outcome.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't mean it's going to happen.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_03]: That's just how I feel right now, but the other teams, at least the teams that are known to be involved in this, the New York Giants are expected to be heavily involved in Tyler Linder Bomb.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_03]: and the Browns are one of the four teams known to be targeting Tyler Lindervom obviously with the first of all, just with the blatant need.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_03]: We need offensive linemen, we need a center.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_03]: He would be the ideal get for this Browns offensive line overhaul.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_03]: The revamp and obviously there's the connections with Todd Munkin as the O.C.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_03]: and Travis Switzerland as the run game coordinator all and obviously George Warhop the offensive line coach all from the Baltimore Ravens now coaching in Cleveland.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: So I would put the Browns Giants Ravens squarely in the mix obviously for Tyler Linderbomb.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_03]: Now, Mueller said he was not able to identify who that fourth team was.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_03]: That is in the mix for Leonard Bomb, but was told that there are four in the race and I've I've been reading and looking up things for Leonard Bomb.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_03]: I think the chargers and maybe the Houston Texans could be that fourth team who are in on Tyler Leonard Bomb just from.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_03]: some of the reports and rumors that I've been reading.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_03]: Mueller says that he expects the Browns to acquire an offensive alignment in a trade.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe a situation where it's a late round pick for a player who might end up getting cut.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_03]: Think about KT Leveston last year, right?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_03]: We traded what was it a seventh round pick?
- 12:05[SPEAKER_03]: To the who was it the Rams?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_03]: I think it was the Rams, right?
- 12:10[SPEAKER_03]: And we got KT Leveston
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: off of there.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think he was on their practice quite a can you remember now, but either way we we traded for him and he ended up being a depth of peace for us who of course had to start pretty much the whole season because none of our guys can ever stay healthy.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_03]: So that's a situation that we're looking into here for the Brownsia.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_03]: He said Andrew Barry didn't mention and he talked about this, how the Chicago Bears are kind of that
- 12:35[SPEAKER_03]: The baseline, the standard for how to put a new offensive line together through a multitude of ways.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_03]: So that is likely to include a trade for an interior offensive lineman through the draft and then obviously through developing your own players that are on your roster.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_03]: And that really will go into a fact here that the trade for the interior offensive lineman, if Joel Batonio, does not return to the team.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_03]: says, I got another year left in me, that year will most likely be spent in Cleveland.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_03]: I know the Browns have said they want him to come back, Todd Munkin said that he has met with Joel Batoneon, said, I want him on this offensive line this year.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's just not every player is wired, the way that Joel Batoneon is wired, the way he prepares, the way he executes just the type of person he is in the locker room.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_03]: And obviously, Munkin would love to have that veteran presence on his new offensive line that's going to have to be completely freaking rebuild it would be nice to keep Batonio another season if we could.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_03]: If we could, but we'll we'll know more.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_03]: I think that what is that the new league year when it starts March 12.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_03]: He's got a few weeks left to make that decision now.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_03]: Um, okay, so moving over into the draft as of now, this is from Jared Muller again.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_03]: The Browns don't see a huge difference if they trade down from pick six to pick 10 to around pick 20.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_03]: or somewhere in that range in this year's draft meeting, the players on their board, the grades they have for those guys, there's not a big difference from the players that are available at six to the players who are available at 20.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where this draft is different than years past.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's a little more unique where,
- 14:23[SPEAKER_03]: There are some very good prospects, very good players in this draft, but it's not very clear cut the order to which they're in and where they're projected to go in the draft.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_03]: So you, second round picks this year might be way more valuable to have three second round picks than it would be to have one first round pick.
- 14:47[UNKNOWN]: And
- 14:47[SPEAKER_03]: because a lot of the guys graded or a lot of the guys who will get drafted in the first round have a very similar grade to guys getting drafted in the second round.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_03]: I hope I'm explaining that okay.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_03]: I hope that makes sense.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_03]: So moving back in the draft,
- 15:01[SPEAKER_03]: you know, piling up some additional draft capital, whether it's for this draft or for next year or even the year after, just getting some extra picks, some extra ammo in the bag just helps out teams who don't have significant differences in their grades between guys early in the first round and the guys in the second round.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: And so there's all this talk about the Browns trading back and everything, but a lot of that, gotta remember too, that is if,
- 15:30[SPEAKER_03]: they can find a trade partner, and that's always the caveat with these things.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_03]: If there's no team willing to trade up with you, then you're not trading back.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_03]: So you have to hope, and this is what Andrew Barry does.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_03]: He did this to the Jaguars last year.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_03]: The Browns Andrew Barry, they hyped the living crap out of Travis Hunter.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_03]: I mean generational prospect, once in a lifetime type of player,
- 15:59[SPEAKER_03]: like Travis Hunter, we got to get him at two.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_03]: He was just back, working to deal with the Jaguiers, to try to get as much draft capital out of them, to move back three spots so that they could come up, take Travis Hunter.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then we get the guy we probably wanted all along anyway, it was Mason Graham to fix up that interior of the D-line.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_03]: And then we gained an extra second round pick, we moved up in the fourth round to think it was, and got a first round pick, an extra first round pick for this season.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 16:25[SPEAKER_03]: That's the kind of thing I would expect.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_03]: I know I can kind of already see what they're doing with guys like Caleb downs and now sunny styles the linebacker from Ohio State just absolutely obliterated the NFL combine his rask or everything was just like
- 16:40[SPEAKER_03]: 99th percent tile or whatever ended up being.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_03]: It was insane.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_03]: And I could see them hyping up some of these players to teams a little bit further back from us who could really use a strong addition to their defense.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_03]: Get a team to move up, take one of those guys, we move back and still end up getting, you know, maybe it's Spencer Fano or, you know, Kaden Proctor, somebody, one of these offensive tackles that we probably like anyway, and we move back,
- 17:09[SPEAKER_03]: but add a bunch of draft capital along the way.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: So I guess what I'm getting that is, don't be surprised if the Browns trade back from six.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_03]: And then if they trade back from six, don't be surprised if they try to do it again.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_03]: Tony Grossy has already talked about this.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: We got other people talking about it.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: The Browns have always, and I know this pisses a lot of people off.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to my dad about this over the weekend.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_03]: We were moving stuff in and I said, I don't be surprised.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_03]: I told him, don't be surprised if they move back from six and he said, I hate that.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_03]: I hate when they trade back just, you sucked for a reasons because you don't have good players.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_03]: Stay where you are and just take the best player on the board.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I don't disagree.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what the good teams do, but the browns have so many needs right now That we're not just one elite player away or potentially elite player if you even think somebody is away from being competitive right now.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_03]: So Either way, even when there are elite players on the board like Julio Jones and some of these players we've done done this in the past We'll trade back
- 18:13[SPEAKER_03]: Or trade back, and we won't take those players, we're definitely gonna try to trade back in this draft.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_03]: You can bet on it.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_03]: Again, not saying it will happen.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_03]: You gotta have a trade partner.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_03]: But as long as we have a trade partner, I guarantee we will do it.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_03]: If the option is available, we will move back.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_03]: This episode is partnered with Kaoshi.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_03]: Browns fans are you ready to put your money where your predictions are, with Kaoshi, America's number one regulated prediction marky you can legally trade on events that actually matter to you.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_03]: And the best part is you don't need to predict specific stat lines and compile a seven-like parlay just to win big.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_03]: With Kaoshi the objective is either yes or no.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_03]: Will Shidorah Sanders be the Browns week one starting quarterback?
- 18:59[SPEAKER_03]: Will Fernando Mendoza be the first overall pick in the draft?
- 19:02[SPEAKER_03]: Will the Browns make their pick at six or will they trade out of that spot?
- 19:05[SPEAKER_03]: And in other sports, will the calves win the NBA Finals?
- 19:08[SPEAKER_03]: You can put your money on these predictions and more with CalShe if you want to try it out.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_03]: CalShe is giving $10 to anyone who signs up at calshe.com-slashdogs and trades $100.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_03]: Get away from disadvantageous sportsbooks and dive into real-world outcomes with real-time odds and real payouts.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_03]: or just click the link in the description to get $10 when you trade 100 with Kalshi, because why shouldn't you get paid for being right?
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so moving on here, Mueller says fans and media might be higher on Indian Hoosiers, why do receiver Elijah Sirot than the league, meaning maybe he's not viewed as highly by the NFL as, you know, we in the media, because we really like Elijah Sirot from Indiana.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_03]: I did hear from several or not several, but from like another outlet that I was listening to over the weekend at the NFL Combine about Elijah Sirot,
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: blue teams away in his interviews.
- 20:13[SPEAKER_03]: Teams were saying that Sarat's football IQ, his knowledge of assignments, meaning like what every player on the field is supposed to do on a given play and when they were testing him and talking to him in these interviews.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_03]: Just really gave teams the impression that this guy has a high football IQ and it was impressive to team.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe and then Mueller's notes here did come out earlier in the week before some of these prospects had their interviews and obviously.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_03]: did their drills on the field.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see how Elijah Sirot moves throughout the process.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_03]: I do think Omar Cooper Jr has definitely jumped him.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_03]: If you remember, it started out.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_03]: Elijah Sirot was projected to go higher in the draft than Omar Cooper Jr. That is completely flip-flop now.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_03]: Omar Cooper is even getting some first round buzz, which I think is fair and valid.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_03]: And we've talked about it.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_03]: I've mocked, I've been mocking him in each of my mock drafts.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_03]: Where I go where he's based on in mock draft database, which is the aggregate of all these industry mock drafts.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_03]: So that's where the industry and the NFL see him going over time, but his moved up.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, I was getting him in the 100s and I was getting him at 70 and then I had to take him at 39.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_03]: Now I'm going to have to take him at freaking 24.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_03]: I think if I won him or trade back to like 28.29 somewhere in there to get Omar Cooper Jr. because he's moving up in the draft.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that he's
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's valid.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's a mover that was underrated to begin with.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so, Jared, yeah, Jared Mueller mentioned, Chris Alave, Marvin Harrison, Jr. is trade targets at the Browns.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_03]: I've knowingly had discussions about.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_03]: Now he listed two other receivers, whose names were mentioned at the combine as potentially being available in trays, not that the browns have touched base on these players, but that these guys have their names have been floated as being maybe available.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_03]: in trade discussions.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_03]: And the first one is Jordan Addison from the Minnesota Vikings.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: The second is Quentin Johnston from the Los Angeles Chargers.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: So there's two more names in the wide receiver pool that could potentially be available in a trade this off season.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: Two other names who've been rumored to be available right now along with those guys, Brian Thomas Jr. from the
- 22:34[SPEAKER_03]: Personally, of the wider severs that we either the Browns have either had discussions about and the guys available or rumored to be available.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the order of my trade wish list.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_03]: Number one option for me, if say we could get any of these guys in a trade.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_03]: Number one for me is Marvin Harrison Jr.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_03]: I just believe
- 22:57[SPEAKER_03]: very strongly in his talent level and the skill set.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_03]: I believe that Marvin Harrison Jr. does have wide receiver one overall in the NFL, not just wide receiver one for a team potential, but I think he could still very possibly be the best wide receiver in the NFL over a stretch here of his career.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_03]: Remember, he's only been the link for two years, okay?
- 23:23[SPEAKER_03]: He's played two underwhelming seasons in the NFL.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: You know, a lot of people forget the normal or at least the historical trajectory of a wide receiver career path.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_03]: We have been spoiled in recent years by the rookie season breakouts, Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Brian Thomas, Malik neighbors, Teteron McMillan this past season, Pooka, Nakuza's rookie year.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_03]: These guys blew up and exploded as rookies and we forget that historically,
- 23:57[SPEAKER_03]: What did we always look for?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_03]: What did teams and media and analysts always watch for with wide receivers?
- 24:04[SPEAKER_03]: It was always called the third year breakout.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_03]: That's what everybody was looking for with wide receivers.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_03]: Think about Jackson Smith and Jake but didn't do much at all as a rookie.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_03]: He improved in year two and then this year's year three.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_03]: explode at best receiver in the NFL.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_03]: Devante Adams was actually a fourth-year breakout.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_03]: So he went his entire rookie contract looking like a bust, fourth-year breakout, future hall of favor.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_03]: Nico Collins, third-year breakout, that this is just the way things always went in the past.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_03]: I forget what year was for like, Stefan Diggs to breakout.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_03]: A lot of these guys, the way it has historically been, it takes receivers a little bit of time.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_03]: And while we expect at the guy like Marvin Harrison, Jr. to have that immediate breakout as a rookie, just like Jefferson and Chase and some of these guys, it just doesn't always happen for these players, but I'm telling you guys, especially if you're a Ohio state fan, so you know the talent level for Marvin Harrison, Jr.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_03]: is about as high as it can be for an NFL receiver.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_03]: So he would be my number one.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: I still strongly believe in Marvin Harrison on what he can be at the NFL level.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so after Marv, my number two trade option on my wish list would be Brian Thomas Jr.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_03]: I just, I love BTJ's game.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_03]: He posted the eighth most yards and eighth most touchdowns by a rookie all time.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_03]: in NFL history.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_03]: So clearly the kid can play.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_03]: He had a down second season here.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_03]: But for me, it's like that opened the door now to acquiring him and I think the time to balance is now me and Justin, we've talked about this a lot on the podcast here, Brian Thomas's massive rookie season didn't start happening at all until Trevor Lawrence got hurt and Mac Jones came in to play quarterback.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_03]: That's when all the sudden B.T.J.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_03]: was like a revelation and led all the rookie receivers,
- 26:07[SPEAKER_03]: who had the best rookie season, but it didn't even happen until Mac Jones became the quarterback.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_03]: For whatever reason, there's just something that doesn't work between Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_03]: But we saw what it can look like with a different quarterback and it's freaking awesome.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_03]: So I love Brian Thomas Jr.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_03]: He would be the number two on my list.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: Marvin BTJ, they are the top of this list for me because they're both very young.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_03]: At 23 years old and they both have two years remaining on the rookie deals plus, they have fifth year options in their contract.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_03]: If fits where the Browns currently are in their rebuild, so that's why these two would be at the top of my list plus.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_03]: I just think they have the most talent.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_03]: on this list, but that doesn't dismiss my next guy.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_03]: Number three on the list, Chris Olave.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_03]: Olave, currently on his fifth year option, which the same sex or size last May for this upcoming season in 2026, the New Orleans Saints could save $15.5 million on the cap by trading him.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_03]: And if you know the situation with the cap spaces, the Saints are always in trouble.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_03]: in the cap with the cap so it would be beneficial for them to clear up some space and they could do it because again you have you're going to pay crystal lobby 15.5 million playing on the fifth year option for your team you don't want to do that and then just let him roll into free like he's not going to roll into free agency next year so you're either going to trade him at some point this year
- 27:37[SPEAKER_03]: or are you going to extend him?
- 27:38[SPEAKER_03]: What do I always tell you guys?
- 27:39[SPEAKER_03]: What happens with the best receivers in the Leather they get extended or traded for?
- 27:44[SPEAKER_03]: And those are the two options here for Crystal Lobby.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_03]: So if the saints are not going to extend him, then they have to trade him to save the cap space this year.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_03]: And because they're not going to eat this cap space and then just let them walk.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_03]: That's not going to happen.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_03]: So he's either getting traded or extended.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_03]: I know the concussions have clouded kind of the perception of Crystal Lobby in the NFL,
- 28:04[SPEAKER_03]: Let's just go through a couple of things real quick on his rookie contract here.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_03]: This guy is posted 1,042 yards is a rookie followed up with a second 1000 yard 1,123 yards in his second season year three was really marred by injuries and concussions and things like that had just 400 yards and then this past season was healthy the whole time 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns got him a second team all pro nomination.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_03]: He's, he's never had anything close to consistent or high level quarterback play in New Orleans.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: So he's already shown an ability to produce and be an impactful wide receiver despite shaky quarterback play.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_03]: So I think Chris O'Laway,
- 28:48[SPEAKER_03]: would be the next best fit for the Browns in their current rebuild.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_03]: What we're doing with the cap, because obviously if you trade for Chris Alava, you need to then extend him, but we're at a situation in the way Andrew Barry does this.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_03]: It would be like what we did with Jerry Judy.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_03]: He was on his fifth year option with the Denver Broncos.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_03]: We traded for him immediately extended him, pushed out that money that cap hit down the road a little bit so that the first season,
- 29:13[SPEAKER_03]: would be low.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: So Crystal Lobby, if we trade for him, we would extend him.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: He would not, he probably only would be a couple of million dollar capits, something like that.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe three million dollars in the first season is just, that's just how it's been working out for the Browns.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_03]: So...
- 29:28[SPEAKER_03]: I see him as the next best option, and then this is my list of four.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_03]: So finally, my fourth option in a trade would be DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears.
- 29:38[SPEAKER_03]: Now, DJ Moore, he's older.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_03]: He's 28.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to turn 29 in April.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_03]: And yes, I have been down on the idea of trading for 29 year old AJ Brown, but that's largely due to his contract.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_03]: Not so much as, I mean, the age doesn't really help us that much.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: He's obviously a great receiver.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_03]: Same with DJ Moore, but the contract is way better, works way better for the Browns.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: 28.5 million dollar cap hit in 2026 for DJ Moore, but he could then be cut or traded as soon as next off season in 2027 to save 24.5 million against the cap.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_03]: When I'm talking about DJ Moore, if you hear anything about DJ Moore on the trade block, things like that, and you wonder if the Browns could do this, think of the Amari Cooper trade.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_03]: when you think about DJ Moore and order receiver still in his prime issues, but closer to the back end of his career.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_03]: The trading team needs to dump the contract.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_03]: The Chicago Bears need to free up that cap space.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_03]: The Brown's desperately need a number one wide receiver.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_03]: We could probably get him.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_03]: for a fifth round pick or something similar to what we did with the Mari Cooper.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_03]: He'll be here for a year or two and that'll be that.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_03]: That'll be his extent in Cleveland.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_03]: But DJ Moore has always been one of my favorite receivers.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_03]: I love his game.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_03]: I think he could be a good veteran leader while we developed the young players, the younger receivers on the depth chart behind him.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_03]: So those would be my top four wider receiver tray targets for the Browns, Marvers Harrison, Jr. Brian Thomas, Jr. Chris Olave.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_03]: and DJ more.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_03]: So now let's keep the wide receiver talk going over into the NFL combine the draft prospects.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_03]: We have Cardinal Tate obviously on this podcast, our wide receiver one, my personal wide receiver one, of course, in this draft, getting all sorts of discussion online because
- 31:27[SPEAKER_03]: He ran a 4.5440R-twice at the combine.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_03]: Now, the first thing that we got to talk about with Cardinal tape running the 40, you know, putting up a 4.54, 4.54.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_03]: Every single draft analyst said,
- 31:46[SPEAKER_03]: Carnotate will likely run in the four fives.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: So it's funny now how many people out there seem to be shocked that he ran in the four fives.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_03]: We knew this was going to be the case.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_03]: We knew that Carnotate had four five track speed.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's fine.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_03]: But now that he actually went out there and ran four or five tracks speed, people are like, whoa, maybe he's not the wide receiver one in this class.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_03]: I hate the 40 time and we'll talk about that here in a few minutes.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_03]: But the second thing with Cardinal Tate that I really want to talk about here.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_03]: This is this speaks to everybody in the discord so I want to thank you guys in the discord the conversations that we have in there and if you're interested in becoming part of the dog pack community joining our discord hanging out with us getting these conversations go to join the dogs dot com
- 32:40[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, I mean, seriously, get in the conversations with everybody in there.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_03]: The diehard Browns fans.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you get access to the discord.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like I said, we're going to do dog pack discord live episodes, which I think these guys don't know it yet.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_03]: I think we're doing one tomorrow night, Monday night at eight o'clock for the discord and then fantasy football every year.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_03]: You get to be in those leagues and all that kind of stuff.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_03]: So join the dogs.com.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_03]: But this next part.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_03]: came from a discussion in the discord last night.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I apologize to you guys.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really sorry.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_03]: I forget who specifically posted this in there.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_03]: But newer Brown spans might not remember Josh Gordon.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_03]: But the longtime Browns fans will definitely remember him.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_03]: And if you didn't get to watch, Josh Gordon, go to YouTube.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_03]: Right now, I'm just just go to YouTube.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_03]: If you're already on YouTube, new tab, search.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Gordon 2013 highlights, okay?
- 33:35[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Gordon 2013 highlights.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_03]: And you go watch, and you see how many quick slant did Josh Gordon take to the house?
- 33:44[SPEAKER_03]: How many DBs did he just leave in the dust?
- 33:48[SPEAKER_03]: Burn, blow by them.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know what Josh Gordon's 40-time was?
- 33:53[SPEAKER_03]: Take a guess.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: If you watched Josh Gordon play football, that you couldn't catch him.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_03]: It's so fast.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_03]: Big, strong, and the speed was insane.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_03]: He was an absolute specimen of a wider seaver.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Gordon,
- 34:10[SPEAKER_03]: And again, thank you everyone in the Discord last night for bringing this up and having the discussion about this.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_03]: Josh Gordon ran a four, five, two during his pre-drift workouts.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, at four, five, two, Cardinal tape just ran a four, five, four.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_03]: So essentially, just a couple of hairs difference between the two.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_03]: Now let's look at a different receiver and this is where I'm gonna start going on a soap box here about the frickin' 40 times and this drill to combine.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: Anthony Schwartz, you guys remember Mr. Anthony Schwartz, 2021 third round pick by Andrew Barry in the Browns.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: He ran a four, two, six blazing fast.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_03]: Olympic speed.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_03]: When you watch the highlights,
- 34:55[SPEAKER_03]: For Josh Gordon, there's no way you would think that he's not running or playing at least at a 4-3 speed with how fast he is on the field.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I'm not saying that Carnotate is Josh Gordon, but let's look at this list, okay?
- 35:11[SPEAKER_03]: We were talking about this in the Discord 2 last night.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: People wanted to know.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_03]: What's the list of wider severs in the NFL, like the top elite wide receiver one
- 35:24[SPEAKER_03]: Listen to this list.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_03]: All these guys ran a 4, 5, 40, or slower, a couple of these guys were even in the 4, 6 range.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_03]: CDLAM, I'm in Ross St. Brown, T-Higgens, Keenan Allen, Cooper Cup, Devont Day Adams, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, Antonio Brown, Brandon Iyux, Devont Diggs, Jerry Rice, all these guys.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_03]: ran in the four fives and a couple of them, I think it was Mike Evans, Keenan Allen, maybe Cooper Cup, all ran in the four sixes, okay?
- 35:59[SPEAKER_03]: 40 times don't mean anything.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_03]: They really don't.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we have this conversation every year and here we go, we're gonna do it again.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_03]: I wish they didn't run the 40.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_03]: At the company, I wish the 40 time wasn't even a part of the evaluation.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_03]: Receivers who, first of all, receivers who ran track in high school, have an advantage.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it doesn't have to just be receivers.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, running backs are quarterback.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: If you ran track in high school, you have an advantage because this is a freaking track of Venice, not a football event.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_03]: Think about the 40, the 40 yard dash of the combine.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_03]: You're getting on a track in shorts and running a straight line as fast as you can.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_03]: 40 yards.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_03]: When do players ever do that in the NFL?
- 36:44[SPEAKER_03]: First of all, and I know like I'm recording this episode Sunday morning so we don't have the measurables and the combine performance for the offensive line.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_03]: Those guys are all going today.
- 36:54[SPEAKER_03]: But like a 40 yard dash for an offensive lineman,
- 36:57[SPEAKER_03]: Who cares?
- 36:59[SPEAKER_03]: Who cares what a 40 yard dash?
- 37:01[SPEAKER_03]: When is an offensive lineman ever going to run as fast as they can in a straight line for 40 yards in a football game?
- 37:08[SPEAKER_03]: That's not what they do.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_03]: And I know, like, oh, the nine rails for the receivers, it's still not what they do.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_03]: You still have to have a release package off the line.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_03]: You're gonna get pressed or get hands on you by a DB at some point during that route.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: You're not just gonna run a straight vertical seat and you know, down the sideline, as fast as you can and have nothing else happen to you.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_03]: First of all, you're running on grass, not track.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_03]: You got football pads on not shorts.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_03]: The 40 is the dumbest evaluation.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_03]: But anyway, let me just kind of get back to my notes here because I could talk about that forever.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_03]: I've got to get, but again, it's the straight line run on a track in shorts.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_03]: It's a drill.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_03]: Like I just said, no player ever does in the NFL.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_03]: Never in a game.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_03]: The 40 yard dash is how guys like Matthew Golden get drafted in the first round.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_03]: And if you go back even further years back, remember John Ross for the Cincinnati Bengals?
- 38:02[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's how the Browns get excited to draft a guy like Anthony Schwartz over on Monroe State Brown.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, Anthony Schwartz ran a 4, 2, 6, 40 Olympic level speed.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_03]: The problem with that,
- 38:14[SPEAKER_03]: Is this his football, not the Olympics?
- 38:18[SPEAKER_03]: The dude couldn't run around.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_03]: He can't get open and he can't catch a ball to save his life.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_03]: That 426 didn't do anything for the Browns.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_03]: Nothing, but yet it got him drafted.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_03]: That's why I hate the 40.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_03]: I'm in Ross St. Brown, ran a 451.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_03]: But guess what he can do?
- 38:39[SPEAKER_03]: Run route, get open, catch the frickin' ball.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_03]: I don't like the 40.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, 40 times, to me, they don't change draft order for me with wide receivers, I see people like, oh, Chris Brousel ran a 437, so he's moving up the draft, I don't care about the 40.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_03]: I already knew he was fast, doesn't matter, does not matter, it's all about the tape.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_03]: What do you see on the film for these receivers?
- 39:02[SPEAKER_03]: And what are their deeper on field metrics?
- 39:04[SPEAKER_03]: They're on field.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_03]: What do they do on a football field in a game?
- 39:08[SPEAKER_03]: Those metrics, not what they're doing on a freaking track in shorts.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_03]: The one guy here from the combine that I feel like is worth mentioning.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_03]: Just because again, every year, you know, we do this 40 thing.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_03]: People wanna know, well, who ran the fastest 40 for the wider receivers?
- 39:26[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, well, that was Brennan Thompson, wider receiver for Mississippi State ran a 426.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_03]: But why is he worth mentioning when I just said all this stuff about the 40 times and all that?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_03]: Him running a 426 for me personally, did not change where I had him.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_03]: He was already for me a top 100 player in the NFL draft.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_03]: Now, the 426 has put him in the headline, so a lot of people that didn't know about him, now they know about him.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_03]: So he might not be a guy that's on the Browns border for you as a Browns fan.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_03]: You might say, no, hard pass, he's 5 9 170.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_03]: So can what?
- 40:03[SPEAKER_03]: I'm pretty sure.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_03]: He's a smaller receiver.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_03]: He had 57 receptions, 1,054 yards, six touchdowns from Mississippi State last year.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_03]: He posted a 2.77 yards per route run, and he did that running 87% of his routes on the outsideies.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_03]: So he's not like, they didn't put him in the slot and say, go do a slot thing, you smaller receiver.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_03]: Five nine in the SEC on the outside against these SEC cornerbacks, a 2.77 yards per route run, 1,000 yards, six touchdowns,
- 40:32[SPEAKER_03]: Now again, he might not be a guy who's in the cards for the Browns, but he's still a name to keep tabs on because he's going to get drafted, third round or higher, and he's going to have a roll somewhere in the NFL.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_03]: And the last guy, the last wide receiver who's 40-time popped him onto my timeline, who I didn't even know about this receiver, is Jeff called while the wide receiver from Cincinnati.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_03]: Six foot five, 215 pounds.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_03]: So he's a big-bodied guy.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_03]: He ran a 431.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_03]: That's what got him all the hype and everything from the combine.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_03]: And for me, this is where we got to watch out this territory where a guy like Matthew Golden, who didn't do Jack didly squat for Texas in college, all of a sudden gets thrust into the first round because of his 40-time.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_03]: because the Packers got enamored with the speed and then you saw what he did or I should say didn't do as a rookie, he didn't do anything.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_03]: He didn't do anything, which I knew he wouldn't do anything.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_03]: So a guy here, Jeff called well, similar situation.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he ran the fast 40, but go look at him.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_03]: He played three years in the FCS for Lyndon Wood and then in this past year transfer to Cincinnati,
- 41:42[SPEAKER_03]: in division one posted just 32 catches, 478 yard six touchdowns.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: He had just 3.7 yards after catch per reception, 2.16 yards per route run, which yes, that's over 2, but you guys know, I really, I like 2.25 is probably the lowest that for these guys in college.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_03]: If you're below that, I'm just not that interested.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_03]: And then the other thing, with Caldwell here, just five out of 13 contested catch opportunities, this year, just a 38.5 contested catch rate.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_03]: So, Jeff called, well, ran a fast 40.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_03]: Good for you.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_03]: If you're not piling up receptions, which he didn't, you're not coming down with a lot of 50-50 balls at six foot five, which he didn't.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_03]: And you're not generating a ton of yards after the catch, which he didn't.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really not that interested all of a sudden just because you ran a 4 3 1 on a track.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_03]: So Jeff called well, you're going to see that name, especially just because of the size and the speed and all that stuff, but these deeper metrics I'm telling you guys, that's a red flag for me, not interested in that wide receiver from Cincinnati.

- 44:17[SPEAKER_03]: So speaking about these wider severs in the draft, some of the stuff we've done in the past here with Andrew Barry, I'm still very concerned with Andrew Barry's ability to identify and draft wider severs over six seasons now.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_03]: He is drafted in 2020, Donovan People's Jones, sixth round out of the league, 2021, Anthony Schwartz, third round out of the league, 2022, David Bell, third round out of the league.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_03]: 2022, Mike Woods, six round out of the league.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_03]: 2023, Senator Tillman, third round.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_03]: Still on the team, last year of his rookie deal, we'll see if anybody signs him next year in free agency.
- 44:53[SPEAKER_03]: 2024, Jamari Thrash, fifth round out of the league, or what is he practice squad or exclusive right.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_03]: I don't even remember what he has it doesn't matter.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't matter, because they all sucked.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_03]: They all sucked.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_03]: So not a single one of these receivers is still in the NFL, except for Cedric Tillman, like I said, he's on the final reverse rookie deal.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_03]: Not one receiver that Andrew Barry has drafted has ever been signed and free agency by another team.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_03]: We traded down to people's Jones to the Lions during the 2023 season.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_03]: Once he became a free agent after that season,
- 45:25[SPEAKER_03]: never played football again.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_03]: Now, obviously, I get it.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_03]: Guys, the lack of high draft capital plays a part in not taking top prospect Island of wider silver.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_03]: I understand that.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_03]: But remember, we had picked 42 a couple years ago and Andrew Barry traded that in the 42nd pick, second round, traded it for Elijah Moore.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_03]: Elijah Moore, another receiver who left Cleveland and then did nothing in the NFL after that.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_03]: So it concerns me about how he evaluates and identifies wider severs because he's not done with anybody yet.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_03]: The Browns have officially met at the combine with the top wider severs.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_03]: Carl Naltate, McCuy Lemon, Jordan Tyson, also Denzel Boston.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_03]: I expect all four of those guys plus some others will be top 30 visits for the Browns when those start up.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_03]: Now, we also met with the top ranked offensive tackles, all of those guys, Francis Maui Noah, Spencer Fano, Caleb Lomu, Monroe Freeling, and Kate and Proctor, and also Blake Miller.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_03]: I firmly expect one of those names to be called by Cleveland on night one in April.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_03]: I think that
- 46:35[SPEAKER_03]: the brown's taking an offensive tackle in the first round whether it's early.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: We trade back and we take one in the mid.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: Or we wait and take one at 24, trade back from 24 a little bit and take one either way we are taking one of these guys in the first round.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_03]: I will be, I would bet on that for sure.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_03]: Now, finally, let's kick over here some quarterback news and rumors.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_03]: Now, every source that I've been reading and listening to steams convince that the Browns are going to be adding at least a player or a couple players to that quarterback room.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_03]: Several sources that I've read believe that Deshawn Watson will actually open this season as the QB1 for the Browns.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_03]: Now, I don't think that's very likely, but at this point in time, you really can't rule it out.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, he is on the team.
- 47:20[SPEAKER_03]: He's on the roster.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_03]: Rumors are that the Browns, Dolphins, Cardinals are among the top teens expected to be chasing after Malik Willis in free agency.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: You guys know that I think it's a bad idea to go after Malik Willis to do it as six career starts.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_03]: I said this so many times.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_03]: Six starts in four seasons.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_03]: He has started fewer games, he has fewer pass attempts in his career.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_03]: and should door Sanders had last year.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_03]: So, he's projected to go anywhere from 20 to 25 million, something that when the competition heats up for his services, it could push past $30 million contract.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, if you sign my league wheels for that kind of money, he is your starter.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_03]: You don't bring that guy in here to compete for the job.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_03]: That's your starter.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't see the point.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_03]: I don't see how it makes sense to pay that kind of money.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_03]: for such limited experience.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_03]: I really don't, but we'll see how it goes.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_03]: Zach Jackson from the athletic.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_03]: He said he believes the plounds, the browns plan at quarterback is to sign Malik Willis.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_03]: And then if that doesn't work, the backup plan or the next plan is to trade for Anthony Richardson from the cults again, both of these.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_03]: Just seem like bad bad ideas to me.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_03]: And I get it, I get it.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_03]: Can you see the upside with Anthony Richardson
- 48:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I watched him play football too.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_03]: So I really don't want Anthony Richardson.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_03]: And the guy's never healthy.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_03]: He's hurt all the time.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_03]: He can't throw the ball.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_03]: He's inaccurate as inaccurate can be.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's big.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_03]: He's athletic.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_03]: But again, that doesn't help you if he's on the sideline with a bum ankle or something.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_03]: That hard pass for me on Anthony Richardson.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_03]: And Malik Willis.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_03]: Mary Kay Cavitt reporting all week that Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is firmly on the Browns radar in the draft.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, I expect that the Browns will have Ty Simpson in the first top 30 of us.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_03]: I think that there will be interest there.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_03]: I know that there's a relationship between Ty Simpson's family, his dad, I think, coached its southern miss.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if it was like, if he was just kind of there in relation to Todd Munkner, if he was actually on Todd Munkner's staff, but either way they know each other,
- 49:44[SPEAKER_03]: So, there is connection to the Browns and Ty Simpson.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_03]: Penn State quarterback already talked about him a little bit through Aller.
- 49:53[SPEAKER_03]: He said he would love to be drafted by the Browns.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's his hometown team, favorite team growing up.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_03]: Claims that he went to every Browns home game for several years of the straight when he was growing up all that kind of stuff.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_03]: From what I read, from what I saw, from the combine, Drew Aller displayed his arm strength.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_03]: And he probably does have the best arm talent in this draft class.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: He had good accuracy on those throwing drills and there's no doubt that Dr. Aller has Moxie.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_03]: He has confidence and again that has reportedly been something that has caught the attention of some of these NFL teams who have spoken with him and why Jared Mueller thinks that mid-third round late second round probably where Dr. Aller's going to end up going despite the injury and the poor play in 2025
- 50:40[SPEAKER_03]: Now Miami quarterback Carson Beck, he also said he'd love to play for Cleveland because he wants to be reunited with Todd Munkin, who was his OC at Georgia.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_03]: So, I could see the Browns using some resources, spending some time, top 30 visit, protege, things like that on Carson Beck, on Drew Aller, on Ty's Simpson.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_03]: And the last guy that don't be surprised if you see the Browns in the mix, at least having conversations with, maybe meeting with this guy, maybe going to a protege or something.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's Colpating, the quarterback from North Dakota State.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_03]: Now, maybe they won't, okay?
- 51:21[SPEAKER_03]: Don't have them on their board.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe the small school FCFCS level competition.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_03]: All that's going to take him off the board.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_03]: But Colpate and the combine just posted a 9.97 RAS score, which is fourth.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_03]: The fourth best out of 154 quarterback since 1987.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_03]: In the reason that that 9.97 RAS scores worth looking into as a
- 51:51[SPEAKER_03]: is because his passing data in 2025 actually supports it.
- 51:55[SPEAKER_03]: It was very, very good.
- 51:57[SPEAKER_03]: 72% completion, 2700 yards, 16 touchdowns, just four interceptions, a 193.4 pass rate plus he added 777 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_03]: He's a legit dual threat,
- 52:15[SPEAKER_03]: Elite Athleticism, not to mention he's got the prototypical NFL size 6 foot 3, 232 pounds will have NFL teams very curious about Cole Payton.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_03]: Now I know I said it, but again, FCS, lower level competition, all that stuff, trade lands at school.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_03]: I get all that stuff, but we're not talking about taking this guy with the third overall pick in the draft.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_03]: We're talking maybe a second or third round pick on a guy like Cole Payton.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_03]: So we'll see where he ends up in the projections as the draft season rolls on.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_03]: But it's a name that we're going to have to keep ourselves familiar with as Brown's fans.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_03]: At least that's just, that's what I believe.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_03]: a couple other things from around the league rumors.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_03]: The dolphins are going to cut to a tongue of Iola because no team is interested in training first.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_03]: Contract, Kyler Murray with the Cardinals reportedly asked the team to release him and the Vikings are looking to move on from JJ McCarthy.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_03]: They plan to bring back Carson Wence.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_03]: at minimum this season, but they are looking to upgrade their quarterback position and Derek Carr has said that he would consider coming out of retirement to play for a contending team, the New Orleans Saints still own the rights to his contract.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: So if a team once and they're going to have to trade for him from the Saints, but obviously the Saints are moving forward to other
- 53:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, motivation to move him.
- 53:37[SPEAKER_03]: If a team did come call and say, and they would like to acquire Derek Carr.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see, we will see what happens.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_03]: And how all that stuff plays out here over the off season when the new league year starts here in a couple of weeks.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_03]: All right, cool, guys.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_03]: So let's talk about these report cards and the grades for the Browns before we do a couple of voicemails and a message or two here.
- 54:00[SPEAKER_03]: Um, again,
- 54:03[SPEAKER_03]: And if owners did not want these report cards and the grades made public, ESPN did obtain the results of all these annual NFLPA report cards.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_03]: And here's how things graded out for your Cleveland Browns.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_03]: One, treatment of families, D minus, home game field, B minus, food slash dining area,
- 54:31[SPEAKER_03]: F, training room, C, training staff, C plus, weight room, B plus, strength coaches, B plus, position coaches, B minus, offensive coordinator, Tommy Reese, D plus, defensive coordinator,
- 54:59[SPEAKER_03]: Team travel, got a D-, your head coach, Kevin Stephansky got a C-, General Manager Andrew Barry, C, and team ownership, C. So there's your team grades for these NFLPA report cards for 2025 and the ones that I really want to highlight here have to do with your coordinators.
- 55:20[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny, Tommy Reese, the golden boy, the up and coming offensive genius that everybody wanted to, you know, this guy's gonna be an NFL head coach or a college head coach.
- 55:30[SPEAKER_03]: You didn't get any interview requests for head coach.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_03]: And you saw, we had 10 openings.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_03]: at head coach this year.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_03]: And the only team that interviewed Tommy Reese in any capacity was the Cleveland Browns because he happened to be ROC got a D plus grade on the NFLPA report card for the team.
- 55:48[SPEAKER_03]: So maybe Tommy Reese not quite the offensive mind or whatever that everybody
- 55:55[SPEAKER_03]: thought he was going to be not saying he can't end up being that, but it just doesn't seem like he is that right now.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_03]: So that coupled with your head coach grade C minus, here you go, Atlanta Falcons fans.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_03]: Kevin Stephansky, C minus.
- 56:09[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, where does that rank amongst all the head coaches in the NFL?
- 56:12[SPEAKER_03]: 30 seconds.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_03]: Kevin Stephansky was the lowest graded head coach
- 56:23[SPEAKER_03]: So there you go.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_03]: The falcons got our C-head coach and our D plus offensive coordinator.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_03]: We let our A plus, or A plus, A minus defensive coordinator quit the team, which sucks, because he was the only category that even got into the A range was defensive coordinator.
- 56:43[SPEAKER_03]: And then of course, special teams, coordinator, Boba Ventrone, a D.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_03]: The team has spoken, the players have spoken, they were not happy with the coaching staff, which is why I was ready to move on from everybody, even Jim Schwarz, just as we needed to do a full house cleaning, again, in my opinion, that should have been the front office as well, Andrew Barry with your C grade here and everything, and he just put a absolutely piss-port product on the field over six years.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_03]: I'm done with them too.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_03]: We'll see if he can correct things and fix things coming into this season, but the time is ticking.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_03]: At least the coaching staff has gone.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_03]: We got new guys in here.
- 57:21[SPEAKER_03]: Todd Munkin as the offensive coordinator grade for the Ravens got a B- which is an upgrade at least in terms of the way players viewed these coaches.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_03]: So that's good to see.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but that's that's really all I want to talk about with these grades.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_03]: I just wanted to mention it, talk about it.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_03]: And then if there's anything on here that you guys see that you want to talk about, drop in the comments, let me read it.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe we'll talk about it here tomorrow night on the discord show with with the other guys.
- 57:49[SPEAKER_03]: So, combine news and notes.
- 57:52[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I got for you guys so far here today.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_03]: We got to grades now.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_03]: Let's move over into a couple of voicemails.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_03]: And of course, our message from Finti.
- 58:04[SPEAKER_03]: This episode is sponsored by Better Sleep.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_03]: Brown's fans, I don't know about you guys, but the older I get, it seems like the more difficulty I have sometimes falling asleep.
- 58:14[SPEAKER_03]: And it drives me absolutely bonkers because I'm tired all day like three o'clock, three, 30 in the afternoon, I'm yawning.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_03]: I'm barely keeping my eyes open.
- 58:22[SPEAKER_03]: I sit on the couch at eight, nine o'clock at night, watching TV, I'm about ready to fall asleep.

- 59:34[SPEAKER_03]: Here's the message from 50.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_03]: And again, I haven't read this.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_03]: I do this every time.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_03]: I'd never read his messages before I dive into it on the show.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_03]: So here we go.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_03]: First time, he says, man, you must have been definitely sick.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_03]: I was getting really concerned for you when you agreed with like 90% of my last message.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_03]: He says, I thought you desperately needed to get yourself to the hospital, but your state of the roster show made it clear.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_03]: You were doing much better.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_03]: Well, state of the roster came out before I was really sick, Ventia, if I recall correctly.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, he says, I don't know what you are so upset about other than Bush, Hickman, and Emerson, who are you so upset about possibly losing your free agency?
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't upset about losing guys in free agency.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_03]: I was upset that we're losing 32 contracts and we have nothing to replace them with.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm upset about.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_03]: Is the fact that Andrew Barry has built no depth.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_03]: no up in coming players to, you know, no error parents to roll into these positions as these guys hit free agency.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_03]: That's the problem that I have with the 32 expiring contracts.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_03]: He says the overwhelming majority of our free agents are players.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_03]: We don't really want or need back.
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_03]: Again, I'm not disagree.
- 1:00:42[SPEAKER_03]: That's part of the problem.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_03]: I'll see, he said, we all knew the offense was extremely lacking and telling, but other than Petonia, what free Asia would be hard to improve on?
- 1:00:53[SPEAKER_03]: You seem to want them to bring guys back just to be warm bodies and take up roster spots.
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember saying that I wanted them to bring anybody back other than Bush, Hickman.
- 1:01:03[SPEAKER_03]: Personally, I'd still like to have white teller on the team, but they obviously feel differently about white teller than I do.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_03]: What other players did I say?
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_03]: I want them to bring back just to bring back.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_03]: I'm saying I am mad and upset that Andrew Barry has built nothing behind these inspiring contracts.
- 1:01:21[SPEAKER_03]: He says the way I look at free agency is who would I still be happy about if they come back and don't play as well as they did last year, not including in Joku because we knew he was gone already.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_03]: There are only two players that I am desperate for them to bring back and wouldn't care if they overpaid for that's push.
- 1:01:36[SPEAKER_03]: and batonio.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_03]: I would like to see Hickman Emerson and Harris come back, but I don't see them on the same level as Bush and batonio.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_03]: And he says I'm glad you're starting to feel better.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_03]: Hard cut because I just had a coughing fit, but I am starting to feel better.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_03]: I at least have my energy back and I can do some things and get up and move about, which is wonderful.
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_03]: So I do appreciate that venti.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_03]: Again, sometimes I feel like he wants to bicker in here just to bicker.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we're agreeing on
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_03]: The point of view may be the differentiator here where I'm saying it's not that I want all 32 of these expiring contracts to be recinds because I want a full team.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_03]: It's the fact that we let the situation happen or it planned for it like Blake said.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_03]: We plan to have all these expiring contracts but we have nothing waiting in the wings.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_03]: And so it makes for a very vulnerable situation for the team because
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_03]: Now you're at the mercy of free agents who have options, just because you want, and I'm talking about the Browns, just because you want to sign this player, that player, or add these position guys, whatever.
- 1:02:51[SPEAKER_03]: doesn't mean it's going to happen.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_03]: They could easily say, now I'm going to sign with this other team.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_03]: And now you're going to your second, your third, your fourth option and some of these spots.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where a bad team gets worse.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_03]: And then you're relying on a bunch of young brookies that you're going to draft and UDFA's that you're going to sign after the draft.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_03]: And you're hoping that you can replicate your success rate from last draft season where you hit on a quite a few guys,
- 1:03:21[SPEAKER_03]: But Andrew Barry's track record doesn't say we should expect that.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_03]: So that's where my concern is for the state of the roster.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_03]: So thanks, Vinty, appreciate your message again.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we agree more than maybe either of us even real life.
- 1:03:34[SPEAKER_03]: So that's good too.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_03]: All right, you got another message here from the website again.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_03]: If you guys want to leave voicemails or messages go to the dogspodcast.com.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_03]: You can record a message, a voicemail, you can listen to it back.
- 1:03:45[SPEAKER_03]: Make sure you like it, re-recorded if you don't, whatever, send it in.
- 1:03:48[SPEAKER_03]: I'll play it on the show, respond to it, or there's a box right there where you can just type in your message.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_03]: Hit Send, comes right to the email here, and I can read on the show.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_03]: This one is from Kevin.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_03]: And Kevin says, what do you guys think about Dallas Gaudert from Philly as a free agent signing for our tight end group?
- 1:04:03[SPEAKER_03]: And I got to tell you, I thought about Dallas Gaudert when we were doing, I was doing the free agent preview episode with Kenny Mack.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I was actually doing some free agent previewing earlier, like maybe a month ago or so.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_03]: And that's where I really honed in on Kate Otten as my, like, that's my target at tight end for this team.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_03]: Dallas Gaudert, I considered him and I thought that would be good too.
- 1:04:27[SPEAKER_03]: One, I really do expect the Eagles to bring him back.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think that he's very pivotal to what they do on offense, that they need him and they don't really have that next guy in the waiting to step up and be a good replacement tight end for Dallas Gaudert.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_03]: So I think he's just kind of a lock to go back to
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_03]: he's projected to get a higher salary, more eat up more cap space than a guy like K-Dotton, which I just doesn't, I don't think works for the Browns.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_03]: And he's injured a lot.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_03]: He's injured a lot for me for Cleveland to fork out the kind of money and catch space.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_03]: You would have to get for Dallas Gaudert and then for him to potentially end up injured because they say you shouldn't project injury, but when a guy has such an extensive injury history where he's hurt every year at some point, Jack Conflon, Duwon Jones made some good examples for us.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_03]: You just, you kind of have to build in that expectation, unfortunately, and for Dallas Goddard, that is the expectation.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_03]: So I like him.
- 1:05:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's a great player, hell of a player, but just not a good fit for where the Browns currently are and what we're currently trying to do with the roster.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_03]: So thank you, Kevin, for that question.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_03]: Last message here from the website is from Logan says, hey, guys, Logan from Surrey.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_03]: British Columbia, Canada, got a short question, would you like?
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_03]: I would like to know your thoughts on us trading for cave on Tibodo.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_03]: I know he's not exactly a scheme fit, but I saw his price as a day two or three picks, so that makes me interested in the amount of picks that we have.
- 1:06:08[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, cave on Tibodo, from the New York Giants, now this is where it would
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_03]: If you can get him for a late day two or like a day three pick, so like a late third, how I don't even know if I would do a third.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_03]: With the way our current roster is like I'd rather just use the third round picks on why you just have one third round pick on a on a draft player.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_03]: But like a fourth or even I mean, definitely if you need to get him for a fifth round pick, I would do it.
- 1:06:41[SPEAKER_03]: I don't even know what his contract situation is or anything like that.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_03]: So I do apologize for not having more information on Tibito.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_03]: But I'm not wanting to just turn away talent, just blindly, like again, if you can get him for a fourth or fifth round pick, okay, I don't know what the situation is if we would just need to extend him or if it'd be like a one-year rental type thing.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_03]: But.
- 1:07:04[SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_03]: I'd have to look up a little bit more about typo.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_03]: I apologize, Logan, that I don't have more to add to that, but a name that's definitely worth mentioning and discussing, and maybe I'll look up a little bit more, and we can talk about it with Blake and Justin tomorrow.
- 1:07:19[SPEAKER_03]: All right, so let's move into some voicemails here real quick before we wrap up.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_03]: This one is from Kurt.
- 1:07:25[SPEAKER_00]: Hey guys, Kirk from Jersey, just a little something on the player that currently wears Phil Dawson's number.
- 1:07:32[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a way we can restructure him and then trade him, I mentioned it on the discord, I'm not smart enough to understand contracts and stuff.
- 1:07:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much we owe him still.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_00]: So is there a way we can restructure and
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_00]: maybe trade him to a team like the jet, somebody that's willing to take a fly or not for anything like just be like, hey, we'll eat some of the contract or most of the contract, just get them out the door and maybe get like a six round pick for him or I don't know anything of a freaking a new bench press, which, whatever, I don't know, a piece of equipment for Jim.
- 1:08:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know man, I just need him gone.
- 1:08:14[SPEAKER_00]: I need him gone, I can't, I can't, God, I can't with him.
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's got to go.
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_00]: Another thing I think this is probably the last year as AB as we know it, it's either, he's gonna win GMO the year or he is gonna be fired.
- 1:08:29[SPEAKER_00]: There's no in between.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_00]: He's either gonna work a miracle with this roster or he is just gonna get fired for, you know.
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_00]: past mistakes and they're coming back to haunt us.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_00]: So go Browns, love this show guys.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_00]: Later.
- 1:08:47[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Kurt, thank you for the voice now.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, with the Sean Watson and his contracts.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_03]: So just to break it down real quick, we'll keep this pretty simple.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_03]: So right now, 20, 20, 60's got an $80.7 million cap it.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_03]: $46 million guaranteed this season.
- 1:09:06[SPEAKER_03]: And then if the Browns were to, let's just say this is why it's not going to happen, cut him as it's just right now as it stands like you can't just cut him because all 80.7 million dollar cap is dead cap.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_03]: You would be paying him that whether he's on the team or not.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_03]: on the cap this season.
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_03]: So cutting him, not an option.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_03]: He's got $25.7 million dead cap next year, 16.7 million dead cap in 2028, and then eight million dead cap in 2029 before he is finally off the books.
- 1:09:43[SPEAKER_03]: Okay?
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_03]: Now restructure, you ask about that.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_03]: They can restructure the Sean Watson this year, which they will do,
- 1:09:51[SPEAKER_03]: And they will clear 35.7 million dollars this year.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_03]: So that'll be big for the Browns heading into free agency this year once they restructured to Sean Watson.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_03]: The problem is,
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_03]: Even if you restructure him, it doesn't matter because all the money that's left on his contract, I mean, it's guaranteed money.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_03]: So you can't avoid any of it, part of it doesn't just go away because he's cut because it wasn't guaranteed and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_03]: It's all guaranteed.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_03]: So it all gets paid at, like the cap hits, you can't shave any of that off because it was all guaranteed money.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_03]: It all has to hit at some point.
- 1:10:32[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's trading for him.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody's trading for a guy coming off, a major shoulder surgery on his throwing arm, and then back to back Achilles' tears and a major Achilles' surgery.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_03]: On top of the last time he was healthy on the field playing, he sucked.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_03]: He sucked.
- 1:10:50[SPEAKER_03]: He was terrible.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_03]: Worst quarterback play, we've ever seen, or some of the worst, I guess we did have to watch DTR.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_03]: Some of the worst quarterback play, we have ever seen.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_03]: Nobody is trading for the stigma of Deshawn Watson for the piss poor play and the freaking read.
- 1:11:10[SPEAKER_03]: Dickeyless cap hit contract, you know, experience that you got to go through to acquire him.
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_03]: It will not happen.
- 1:11:17[SPEAKER_03]: So you can't trade him.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_03]: You cannot cut him.
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_03]: He will be here for 2026 no matter what.
- 1:11:27[SPEAKER_03]: So, I get it, Kurt, I understand your enthusiasm and motivation to get them off the roster.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_03]: a buckled down man, everybody out there too because he's here for 2026.
- 1:11:42[SPEAKER_03]: He will be a post June 1st cut or at least his contract will be a post June 1 cut next off season in 2027.
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_03]: He won't be here, but his contract will still be here as deadcap hits will still be here.
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_03]: through 2029, and I'm trying to remember, because once they restructure, then you can take the dead cap for the following years, split it over two more years, that might push it back out to 2030.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_03]: But either way, however it all works, the dead caps are gonna be here.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_03]: He's gonna be on the books for years to come, even though he won't physically be on the roster.
- 1:12:22[SPEAKER_03]: It sucks, it's a bad situation.
- 1:12:24[SPEAKER_03]: It was a bad contract, a bad trade to make in the first place.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_03]: It would have been much easier, obviously, to stomach and digest that he played anywhere close to even just league average quarterback play.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_03]: But he didn't even come close to league average, so it was terrible.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_03]: Terrible move, but whatever, that's what we got.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_03]: Let's see, last voice mail here again.
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks Kurt, last voice mail here today is from Liam.
- 1:12:51[SPEAKER_02]: What's going on dogs is Liam calling in from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and I just finished watching the combine looking at all those amazing water seabers.
- 1:12:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I thought there's no better time than now to do a mock drafts and I just want you guys to let me know what you think about this mock.
- 1:13:07[SPEAKER_02]: Starting around one with pick number six.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, nothing's going to change my mind.
- 1:13:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's Carnival of Hates.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if he's on the board, that feeling does a must take for the Browns.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_02]: Like, it just has to be him.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_02]: Going into the next pick at 24, I think, to have us taking Mon Rho Freelade, Tackle from Georgia.
- 1:13:22[SPEAKER_02]: Another guy who's kind of climbed at the board.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_02]: Again, like, obviously, I don't see us leaving the first round without at least one word of silver or one Tackle.
- 1:13:29[SPEAKER_02]: Next round, I have us taking a Milio Pregnon from Oregon.
- 1:13:33[SPEAKER_02]: Again, just bolster up that offensive line.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_02]: Round 3, I got Jack Andrews from Texas, the tight end.
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think he had a great combine yesterday, and obviously we need another tight end with fan and it'd be in the only one on the roster.
- 1:13:47[SPEAKER_02]: Round 4 was Malik Mohammed, also from Texas.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_02]: Round 5, I went with Ted Hirst, who was my favorite cross-picting this drafts.
- 1:13:54[SPEAKER_02]: And then Rounding things out, I have 8 in Fisher, Alanda, linebacker from Indiana, Harold Perkins from LSU, Isaiah, and Walkaboo from SMU,
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_02]: And in pictures of the linebacker, he'll pertains to the linebacker, the guy from SMU to safety, and Ethan Omniwana is a guard, and gets your wandering.
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, let me know what you guys think about that.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_03]: All right, Liam.
- 1:14:18[SPEAKER_03]: Well, thank you for the mock draft.
- 1:14:20[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a good way to end the show today, too, is talking about this because one thing that I am planning to do, obviously I did my a post senior bull mock draft.
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_03]: This coming week, I do want to do a post NFL combine.
- 1:14:32[SPEAKER_03]: I want to gather all the data and information coming out and inapolis and do a mock draft for the Browns.
- 1:14:37[SPEAKER_03]: post NFL com my kind of like you just said so thank you for studying that and I got to tell you my I mean if if I'm projecting or stick in with pick six for the Browns for the mock draft purposes it is cardinal tape at six because I do think that he can be a big enough difference maker at the wide receiver position to warrant taking at six.
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, your mock draft in mind is going to look very different, at least for the start.
- 1:15:02[SPEAKER_03]: Take Monroe Freeling.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_03]: I like him out of Georgia.
- 1:15:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think that could be a good fit or a good projection for the Browns taking him.
- 1:15:09[SPEAKER_03]: And then 39, manual pregnant woman, great pick.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_03]: I do think that he's going to be a good NFL offensive guard and everything like that.
- 1:15:19[SPEAKER_03]: So I think that would really depends on what we do in free agency because again, we don't want
- 1:15:23[SPEAKER_03]: too many rookies starting on that offensive line this season, but free-ling prognone could be guys that you fill in on the offensive line.
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_03]: And the rest of your draft, I mean, like, injuries the tight end, that would be a good pick.
- 1:15:36[SPEAKER_03]: We obviously need tight end.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_03]: I'll just pick out a couple of these other ones.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_03]: I love Ted Hurst, you know that, and I've talked about him before.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to be a my guide during the draft process.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_03]: Coming out of Georgia State, I don't know if the Browns or, you know, Andrew Barry, he just,
- 1:15:50[SPEAKER_03]: Andrew Berry does not take very many players if you go look at the draft history.
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_03]: It's only like two or maybe three now if you include Harold Fanden coming out of Bowling Green.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_03]: Of all the players he's drafted he's only taken a couple now out of these smaller schools so if you're not taking takes most of his players out of the big power force schools, right?
- 1:16:08[SPEAKER_03]: The big guys, the SECs, the big tens, those type of places where he likes to get.
- 1:16:14[SPEAKER_03]: his players, but I do like Ted Hearst a lot.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_03]: I think he's very talented at that.
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_03]: Did you, I don't know if you guys saw the catch, the highlight catch from Ted Hearst at the Combine, but it was insane.
- 1:16:24[SPEAKER_03]: He was, I forget which quarterback he was running the route for during the passing drills, but he made an insane adjustment where he spun around in a complete 360 and then added extend his arms way out and caught the ball, just like plucked it out of the air.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_03]: I don't even know how he was able to track it.
- 1:16:41[SPEAKER_03]: let alone make the catch at the end.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_03]: So that was impressive.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_03]: But, and then the other guy wanted to highlight out of your draft here, lamb was Harold Perkins, the linebacker at LSU.
- 1:16:51[SPEAKER_03]: Might be in my next mock draft.
- 1:16:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure because I'm really liking Kyle Lewis out of pit.
- 1:16:59[SPEAKER_03]: at the linebacker position, but Harold Perkins, I like him a lot too at LSU, so I like that pick.
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_03]: I think you did a great job on your mock draft and yeah, I appreciate you sending that in.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_03]: I appreciate everybody in your voicemails, Kurt, and Kevin, and everybody sending in your messages.
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_03]: It's just great hearing from you guys.
- 1:17:18[SPEAKER_03]: Again, I appreciate everybody's well wishes as I've been dealing with this flu or whatever the heck this has been for the last couple weeks.
- 1:17:25[SPEAKER_03]: And again, I apologize for any echo that's on the audio today.
- 1:17:30[SPEAKER_03]: I apologize for the lighting.
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_03]: I got to get my sound panels and my curtains and my actual studio lights.
- 1:17:36[SPEAKER_03]: I just got a little lamp sitting right here.
- 1:17:38[SPEAKER_03]: I've got a lot of work to do here in the new studio, but...
- 1:17:41[SPEAKER_03]: I can't let the progress of the studio hold up any content for you guys because I love producing the content.
